Now I don’t live there, yes I go there a few times and I can remember the routes easily but…..finding places in Burgos should be simple for a wizened taxi driver..well his taxi was so beat up the elastic band was nearly broken :) But he really had no idea about Burgos or where it was but such a nice old chap I showed him the way and girl with me thought I was so kind…as I did not get cross/angry was polite and so calm. So she thought even more nice things about (is that possible?/ - rhetorical question for anyone thinking of replying..)

Now I don’t live there, yes I go there a few times and I can remember the routes easily but…..finding places in Burgos should be simple for a wizened taxi driver..well his taxi was so beat up the elastic band was nearly broken :) But he really had no idea about Burgos or where it was but such a nice old chap I showed him the way and girl with me thought I was so kind…as I did not get cross/angry was polite and so calm. So she thought even more nice things about (is that possible?/ - rhetorical question for anyone thinking of replying..)
This did not happen once it happened 2 more times…once to show the man the way to Terminal 3 (the newly opened terminal – very nice from I what I saw) and then to Mall of Asia!!
Now they may think am a stupid old man and tourist (which is true..well at least one of them is a fair statement) but still the meter runs and as long as I don’t think he is seriously taking the [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) I will be kind. Unlike one taxi driver who asked for 150 pesos from the Dusit to Handlebar (Burgos) when I know it is around 40 pesos at the particular time of night…so I got out and found another taxi.
Its a great reminder that 8 out of 10 manila taxi drivers are screwed up and once in a while we come across someone nice.
BUT, the important point to remember is wicked rogers taxi driver seems to be new in town as he was finding it hard to locate popular places. He will soon learn the trick of the trade and will be as usual as others.
As i have said earlier, be very carefull of manila taxi drivers, they don't show respect nor switch on the meter, if they do, it would be tapped on, give exact change to the drivers, never give tip to them, always talk to them in high tone voice, make small talk to them while on the way and make sure they know that WHO IS THE BOSS !!.
Be assertive, fake show that you are more bad ass than he is......it all adds up in the end, never let your guard down thinking i had a good taxi ride the last time, this would be good also.

Last week I was in Manila, and took a "coupon" taxi from Terminal 2 to the Dusit. There's no rate negotiation and no meter since the standard rate is Php330. I happened to have a very articulate driver, who was explaining to me that he was fairly new to the job, and was following in the footsteps of his brother, who drove a similar taxi for a while and, using that experience, managed to land a driving job in one of the Emirates. He also told me that he didn't understand how anyone could do the airport taxi job for long, since the drivers make only a 10% commission--a statement I was able to verify with one of the drivers who works for the car service at the Dusit. My airport taxi driver also told me that he had been waiting two hours until it was his turn for a fare.
Let's see, he made all of Php33 from the ride he gave me. That's about $.70 at today's exchange rate. Assume he gets 4-5 fares a night and he's looking at a gross wage of about $3.50 or so. Granted, he gets more for longer hauls, but then it also takes him longer to return to the airport for his next fare.
For the drivers of regular taxis, I would imagine that after paying the taxi rental and the gas, they don't make much more, or perhaps even less on a bad night. Given starvation incomes and what they perceive as rich tourists, is is really any wonder that they try to make as much money as possible from the unsuspecting? It's amazing how easy it is to get self righteous over getting "ripped off" for maybe $1 by those who willingly shell out Php350 or more for watered down ladies drinks.

I always use the coupon taxi. I was in one Christmas Eve going to Makati and I asked what time the malls closed, as I needed to buy a present and the driver volunteered to stop and wait on me while I did my shopping:)

I totally agree with you and such the reason you will find many long term posters, who frequent the same bars or areas, do not POST pictures because too many guys run to the girls and tell them.
I DO however know for a fact that girls in hollywood know of this site. if you think they do not know about then you are wrong, very very very wrong. I know for 100% fact that one of the girls there watches this site.
Also the owners of Hollywood (3 owners), they own the bar next to it Papillion they are sister clubs and the girls between there talk talk all the time. So what you do in Hollywood can spread to Papilion and vice versa. The owners also have interests in some other bars also. And being close to the other bars the girls rotate bars many times also like girls used to work Papilion move to Pussycats and such so what you do in one place really spreads fast in Burgos. It's a really really really small community there. Which can be bad or good depending on how you use this fact.

These driver don't count on the percentage of the fare. They live on tips received from generous passengers. The stingy owners of these Taxi companies know that, so they only share very little from the fare with the drivers. I normally give extra P30-50 for a ride to Makati from the airport, and every time received a gracious “Thank you sir” in return.
From my experiences, most of the taxi drivers in Manila are quite honest, very few times I got ripped off, and when that happened, I normally reminded them with a smile.
I learned from a Philippine guy. Look for the drivers with a rosary, or stautue of Jesus on the dash. These guys are honest. I have yet to find a bad driver when doing this.

Shit who doesn't have a friggin statue on the dash or rosary hanging around? That's like a thailand taxi without a buddha on the dash... Seriously I'm thinking about this and about the only ones I can think of are the newer yellow airport taxis. Every one I find seems to have it and most of them of course... meter no work...

Another guy wanted 150 from edsa to shangri-la. Gave him 80 and told the security what happened and they chassed him away and told me, they put them on their blacklist.
Manila was very quiet between xmas and new year, in stark contrast to singapore and bangkok/pattaya. Those cities are imho much better for mongering nowadays than manila.

It happens all the time, One need the threat of a complaint or a drive to NBI that these guys back off.
If you feel you have been overcharged nothing short of threatening to call cops or driving the taxi to nearest police post will back them down.
I have put the number in earlier post, crucial for anyone who is coming to manila.
Its ok if you are here one time, but if you plan to stay long term, you are guaranteed to get your ride messed up by these taxi cons.

Redkilt. You right. I did it. Took my masseuses who then asked if she could bring along her friend. Absolutely nothing wrong in asking.
I was told by the former owner of the high class massage services provided in Marco Polo and Grand Regal in Davao that generally any girls who work on the night shift from around 7pm onwards in the Health Clubs in most 5-star hotels will entertain "extras", but you cannot be sure that those on the day shift will be willing.
Another thing he said was that YOU have to initiate the required service. His girls were all willing and ready, but they were instructed not to initiate anything, like brushing the dick or massaging right up to the groin and nudging the balls even. It is probably the same in the big clubs in Manila (I don't know because I live here).
I suggest you ask the bell boys in the lobby as a first option. Many of them know everything. Or straight up ask the masseuse who is assigned to you if she provides "full service", which is a euphemism for "extras". In the unlikely event that she says No then ask if you can have someone who will. In the Club it is always HJ only, but you may have success enticing her to your room after the shift depending on your dazzling wit and repartee and the size of your tackle box.

Airport taxis have a special monopoly. The only alternative is to climb the stairs to the departure level and try to get a regular taxi who has just dropped somebody off. Once you climb the stairs with a couple pieces of heavy luggage you'll give up on that strategy, even when the difference in price is 300 pesos.
Be aware that there are also taxi groups that run from some of the downtown hotels to the airport that are similarly high priced. Their prices are probably twice the price of a regular fare cab. But if you depend on the hotel's doorman to call a taxi to the cab, that's what you'll get. The hotel-to-airport monopoly respects the airport monopoly and won't try to grab a separate return fare. In theory their fare includes a round trip, but who needs a round trip -- unless you take your latest squeeze to the airport for a couple last minute feels and then send her back to Ermita -- to get her next customer at LA Cafe.

Always feel Havana Cafe is better than LA Cafe, Embassy is nice but many young rich(ish) Filipinas who may not play the game we want. Always picked up lovely girls from Havana and never been disappointed...cant say the same about LAC. I sometimes keep the Havana contacts and see themn when I return as they are for me cute, slim, shaved and horny..and sometimes I cant be bothered to go out prefer a home delivery :)

Thanks.Quite close, it's walking distance if you don't mind walking 600 meters. From Mandarin to Café Havanna which is located at Greenbelt mall you cross 2 big & busy streets and take a pedestrian underpass. You still may want to take a cab for the short ride if it's too hot during day time and/or you are averse to smog. I would always take a ride at night time and used to pay around 50 or 60 Pesos for the trip including tip (was later increased by 10 or so because of fuel price hike by official label in the cabs instead of adjusting the meters - don't ask). I prefered the hotel cars though, much more comfortable than the wrecks that are called meter taxis, no arguing during peak times, but 5 to 6 times as expensive if you are not entitled to a discount. On weekends Mandarin used to have a complimentary shuttle service including pick-up return with their hotel cars to Greenbelt/Glorietta although only until 9 or 10 pm. Ask the concierge for coupons and the current modalities.
Hard Rock Café is at Glorietta mall, which is the next mall to Greenbelt connected by overpass, so that's about the same distance.
Mandarin hotel, Greenbelt and Glorietta mall are located in the heart of Makati, Manila's traditional business district. The area feels very safe especially during day time as you hardly pass 30 meters till the next office building, hotel or bank entrance with 1 to 5 security guards.
One more thing about the Mandarin... It's an old hotel that compensates for the aged interior with great service. If you are discerning and your budget allows, go for a Club Room (at least avoid a Superior Room if you can). The rooms are not on par with Horizon Club at Shangri-La Makati (or accomodation at other Mandarin properties worldwide for that matter), but that's about twice as expensive.

Three there is also a strict dress code. You must dress to impress. Four it carries a younger crowd…. A great deal of hip hop/techno music is played. All of the above will put off the average monger you will find on these boards.
PS: The place is rife with narcotics mostly Cocaine and a lot of brawls have broke out there recently a large number of spoiled rich kids may be the raison d'être.

Yeah it used to be one of my boys favorite hang outs and he nearly always got in as a VIP. But there again he hangs out with some of the Philippines 'rich, young and in' crowd. Makes me jealous as hell;).

The Greenbelt area is great for the restaurants and no one will care and if they do it is likely jealousy.....ignore it but it can be uplifting seeing other cuties stare at you and her jealously :D Great boost for the ego

One more thing about the Mandarin... It's an old hotel that compensates for the aged interior with great service. If you are discerning and your budget allows, go for a Club Room (at least avoid a Superior Room if you can). at this point, i realized, i may be dealing with a total loon. a nutjob. nobody saw me go off with her (it was really really late, and just hours after election night so the regular people that i see on burgos weren't there).
she tells me she wants 2,000p, when if you add that with the room, my total damage would have been 2,500p. i got really scared and tried paying her a little more than the initial 500p, but she was adamant about getting 2,000p.
now, in this situation... i'm in an area of makati that i've never been in before, in a hotel i've never been in before, and nobody knows i'm there, and this woman is psycho, old, ugly; god knows what she's capable of.
at that point, i gave her the 2,000p in full and got the hell out of there. as i was leaving the motel (new seoul), i saw a ladyboy at the entrance that was hanging around me earlier in the night. she said something to the effect of, "oh, you're finished?"
i was so mad -- i'd been ripped off like this in the past by other providers, but the last time was over a year ago in pattaya, and i thought i'd never get "taken" again, but here i was again... i was so angry with myself, because i do have a fiancee that i love who lives in zambales (college educated, extremely sweet "good girl"), and that 2,500p i wasted on that old hag could have paid one month of my fiancee's electricity bill! or bought her a month's worth of food! instead, this old ***** gets it.

I had my own negative experiance with one a couple of years back. I'm getting into my car and a ladyboy jumps in from the passanger side at the same time. I push her out, but she gets my wallet. I ask for it back, but she refuses. This seams quite strange as this is happening 50 feet from burgoss and there are so many police around? yeah, so the next day i went to visit my fiancee. i even thought about telling her what happened, but eventually realized how stupid that would be. i just wanted to feel some love and "warmth" i guess. she provided that... and i spent another week with her.

I'm not sure what you mean by "respectable", but the Makati Palace Hotel is on the corner of Burgos and some other street, maybe two blocks from Makati Ave. There's an internet cafe outside on the 1st floor (or basement?) area for 40p/hour, a Korean-owned KTV with some nice girls, and a 24-hour convenience store. They also have a pool, I think. I've never stayed there, but it was the only hotel I saw in that area that seemed "respectable" as in... not sleazy... just the area is sleazy.

You might want to consider the Dusit or New World which are right next to and in Greenbelt Mall. You can get New World for less than one hundred and it is right across the street from Phoenix One MP. Dusit might be $110. Both are a five or ten minute cab ride to Burgos ave. If you stay on Burgos Ave or right around it, it probably would raise eyebrows with your GF's dad.

You might want to consider the Dusitmany ISG guys stay at dusit. They are very friendly to overnight guests and looks respectful to business associates and families.
Down side is the girls assume they get a higher price if you stay there then other locations due to the cost and the presumption of a higher status.

Makati Palace may not be "respectable" in that it is within two blocks of six or seven take out bars and it is ON Burgos Street. I stay there because it is so close to the action.

I say City Garden Hotel. It's on Makati Ave and one short block to Burgos right behind the hotel. A lot of companies send their employees there to stay. The elevators can take forever there though. They got a very small pool though in the upper levels.

There are many "respectable" hotels in Makati with short taxi ride, but be careful, short taxi ride could mean very long ride during peak traffic time. There is a new hotel resides in the new Jolla Tower whos name escape me in Rockwell for about $100/night. Rockwell is a prestigious subdivision in Makati. It is very close to Burgo Street, and walkable if you are fit and don’t mind the heat during the day. Or 3-4 min. taxi ride without having to go through the heavy traffic part of Makati. I don’t think you girl friend’s family will suspect anything if you stay in this place. They might even like the convenience of the location, right next to Power Plant Mall.

Hey Man, I stayed at the intercon during my recent visits to Makati. There is a night club downstairs, you enter via the pool area, called Icon. I ended up here every night of both trips with whatever I had picked up at Havana Cafe. On weekends its packed, even on Tuesday night it was quite busy.

It was a fantastic pick-up place, always crowded, situated on the corner diagonally opposite the Mercury Drug that is on the corner of Glorietta just along from the Hard Rock end. It is not too far from Intercon but was between Intercon and Shangri-la.
Giraffe closed, was renovated and re-opened as a nothing place.
This was before the new Greenbelt was built (1996 - 2000).
Cafe Havana has pretty much replaced it. HRC (back bar) and TGIF (around the center bar) occasionally have FLs on the hunt but they are usually hardened types and they end up at Havana anyway

The recent Hi-jacking will do little to boost it. In my experience, many of the girls in Burgos bars can be convinced to meet you after their work for "SO" ("Service Outside" or more colloquially "Sneak Out"). As long as the Mama isn't keeping an eagle eye, you can slip a girl your cell phone number and make your arrangements when she has a chance to get to her phone.
The bars seem to be turning a SLIGHTLY blind eye toward such shenanigans as well, as long as you have bought a few drinks (especially for the Mamasan).
I have a collection of numbers now, and can simply text a little "friend" to stop by my room after work.

Rule Number 1 in taxis if you want to do it correctly:-
Look for the meter and make sure it is switched on.
It is up to you when they give you plenty of excuses why they won't put the meter on or why it is not working.
Flagfall is 30 pesos (less than USD$1) and for most places around Manila the total trip will between 100 and 200 pesos. (USD$2 and USD$4)
You may want to have small notes such as 100 and 50 pesos as they will not want to give change from 1,000 pesos notes possible.
The main difference is the Yellow taxis from the airports which have slightly different flagfall and charge but still cheap compared to most other parts of the world.

Willie....Greenbelt is an upmarket area where the rich and famous hangout...You could compare Makati with Manhattan not in size or economy but the general idea where all the big companies have offices and rich people have apartments.
You won't find discrimination in PH, I have seen lots and lots of black guys having fun in Manila.

Hey Man, I stayed at the intercon during my recent visits to Makati. There is a night club downstairs, you enter via the pool area, called Icon. I ended up here every night of both trips with whatever I had picked up at Havana Cafe. On weekends its packed, even on Tuesday night it was quite busy.

If any entity is to blame, it's the Catholic church who has been opposed to sex education and thinks it should be up to the parents to inform their children (the blind leading the blind).

50 Peso covered a taxi into P Burgos. It had been years since I had been for a look so decided to do a bar hop and see what was on offer. I covered pretty much all of the bars along the strip, one drink at each. I won't go though every bar as they merged into a few common themes:
The larger bars down the Flamingo end were by far the busier (but still very quiet) and offered the best selection and number of girls.
The smaller bars further down were very, very quiet, often with only one or two customers. The selection was not as great nor of good quality and the girls were a little more aggressive but nothing too over the top.
The Suspender show at Bottoms was good to watch (see Terwagne's Post) with tits flying everywhere and plenty of 8s and 9s. Most of the girls were very accommodating in the bar. It was going pretty good, and was told it gets more crowded later after 3 and they close at 6 am on Friday night. The ratio of men to women was not good this evening. I think there were more men than women with about 50% foreigner men and 50% Filipino men. There were some women obviously looking to hook up for money. There were some baklas in the club also. Spot on... Outer area near the bar. You will find a couple upstairs in the VIP area but latter in the night. The whole VIP thing is funny considering you don't pay extra but from what I understand they do it on purpose as sometimes when they have good DJ's the place gets packed and they want to control the amount of ppl the let upstairs. Usually its for hotel guests, regulars and mainly tourists... I guess the good thing is it gives you opportunity to scan the area quicker and if you pick up and want to spend cash on a bottle then you can use one of the studios upstairs. As far as walkins there are a couple of choices in Makati. The best and most well known is Roman Suites. Just do a search of this forum and you will find how to locate it.
There is also a place very near to Burgos called Don Pedro, but by last account it was closed. So please try it and let us know if it is still closed.

ThanksI do it alot from Malate and its about 20-25 minutes at that hour to get there at 4:00 am for a 6:00 am flight. You will probably get to the airport a bit earlier from Makati. Depending on what airline you are flying, time in line can be 10 minutes to nearly an hour. I'm almost always on a 6:00 am out of Manila. If flying Delta, lines tend to be longer and slower. I just maintain the 2 hour rule for check in, get on the plane and sleep on the 4 plus hour MNL to Narita leg.

I don't really know what time it will take but I'm guessing no more than 20-25 minutes. No traffic should be really experienced at that time. I doubt you'll find real talent on a Sunday afternoon in Burgos. I'd prefer to have some numbers available from earlier recon missions or experiences so you can call on them.

thanksAs other posters have mentioned, Burgos is a bit quiet on a Sunday afternoon; but there are a few places open then, where you might find a little bit of sleepy talent. I think Bourbon Street bar opens by 3pm. That's the only one that comes readily to mind, but there could be others. Depending on how fussy you are, you shouldn't be forced to go it alone even at that time of day.

Prologue.
After over 13 years in Dubai I finally get a chance for a mongering trip. I debate between Bangkok or Manila, however having been to Bangkok before (about 10 years ago) and recent reports that the quality has dropped recently, I decide to go for new pastures.
I join the Cherry Blossoms website, thinking I'll see if I can set-up a few dates and balance that against the Burgos bars, Greenbelt, EDSA and some daytime pick-up at Robinsons Mall. I loaded a pic of myself, and was not really prepared for the response I would get. I must have received over 1, 500 smiles, e-mails and chat requests. At first I diligently reviewed each girls profile before realizing I had to have a better filtering system, so quickly put an age, weight, manila location and no kids before I would review the profile and even start exchanging e-mails or chats.
