Makati's club scene is as follows:
KTVs/Girly Bars - P Burgos Street, have a taxi drop you off here and walk around the various foreigner friendly bars.
Local Club Scene - Wasabi, Whereelse, Temple, Olive, Mustang, Absinth, V, and various others in the Greenbelt/Glorietta area. Most of the places are social gathering types, not alot of pros.
If you want a more laid back local spot go to any Cowboy Grill or most clubs in Malate.

Now that I'm back in the PI, I can at least say my dry spell is over. From reading the last couple of post I tought Makati might have a little action finally. I think I have an idea about Filipino below the belt’s psychology. Filipinos are willing to spend few hundred USD for drinking San Miguel/Black Label, pulutan, and ladies’ hour & drinks. I think this is the reason why Manila has the strongest dry companionship and the weakest wet companionship markets in S.E. Asia. Things are slow over here in Makati lately or I have been picky lately. I was hoping that someone would know of some other hots spots around here or Manila and QC. But with this holiday this weekend, pickings are slim to none excistent. Even the SW don't look so good around Greenbelt and outside the hotels.

I was in Makati during October, and would suggest going to Hotel Palacios don Pedro, at the end of P. Burgos.
The massage parlor there is not bad. The majority of them 7/10 but you get a few 8-9/10. Numbers 1-10 are the top ten attendants, and would not suggest trying any of the Letters, as they are still under training.
Price range is between PHP 2,000 - 2,500 for the room, and for the girls between PHP 2,000 - 2,500 depending on the room price, but quality is pretty much guaranteed. Not to mention that they can really give you a good massage, since they have an in-house trainer for that.
I can tell you, during my stay I was there at least once a week, for a good back rub and a little action.

I second the motion Wildman on Palacio...possibly the best MP in Makati...although I have to say that while most of the "letter" attendants are new, this does not mean that they are "new" to the business...I've found that when I used to frequent the place, some of the letters are transfers from other MP's (Sylvanus/Wilderness/etc), and give on par if not better service than the "Number" girls!

But the Makati scene seems to be dead or slow for now. The Hard Rock Cafe included. Too many 'Baklas' for me. The other clubs are cool but want too much. I've been cruising the clubs at Malate and Pasay lately.

I was in Manila last week and ate at TGI Friday's which is across the corridor from the Hard Rock. Most of the customers in both places were foreigners; either couples or men eating on their own. I didn't see any women who were obviously hanging around waiting for an income augmentation opportunity. This could have been due to the Christmas holiday, and the fact that so many people return to the provinces during this period, but it was pretty disappointing. The LA cafe however (in Ermita) was packed.
Aside from P Burgos Street, which has very few customers, Makati was pretty much deserted except for shoppers.

Advice for Makati Stay in Late January?
Hi! I'm heading to the Philippines in about two weeks. I'm stopping in Palawan (El Nido Miniloc) for two days of diving, then heading to Manila for business. I scanned through the last few months of postings, but I still have a couple of questions that I hope the experts here can help me with:
1) I was thinking of staying at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel. Is that a good choice? Will there be any problems about bringing girls to my room, to the restaurants, or to the swimming pool? Also, does anyone have suggested sites or agencies that can beat the $112/night rate I can get online? An earlier poster suggested "Raja Travel" in San Francisco (for $90/night), but I cannot find Raja Travel.

Another name that has me chuckling. You will be missing me by 4 days. I arrive in Makati the night of Jan 24. Anyway, you are staying at the Shangri La Hotel yet you do not want to spend big bucks? Wow. The Shangri la Hotel IS big bucks.
You are right by Greenbelt where there are more than a dozen nice restaurants. Ladies around there also. RJ Bistro nightclub is down the street from you a 5 minute walk. You are a 5 minute cab ride (P40) from Burgos Street and about 30 Clubs with tons of ladies. Watch your wallet and the "hustle" scene there. You can get just about anything there but many clubs have rediculous bar fines for the girls.
Pay the girls no more than P1500 for the night and arrange to have them meet you after work. Many work the day shift from 11:00AM to 8:00PM so you can get something set up.
A black buddy of mine had no problem with the ladies there or anywhere in Manila/Makati. I would assume the Shangri La has plenty in the bars and Nightclub there at night. The one Club there is popular with the upscale filipino crowd and should be good for meeting regular affluent ladies, especially on Thurs - Sun nights.

I went to the bar in the hotel had one drink and upon leaving, approached by girl, approx 7. I was leaving for La Cafe but she asked to come to room. let little head speak for me and let her come up. I still like Robelle for its quiet location and proximity to Burgos St and only a mile to Greenbelt. An open air bar/cafe next door which is operating late at night is also nice. So is the beautiful swimming pool. It is over 35 years old, as are all of us. I have been staying there for 13 years now. Cannot beat the price for Makati, or the great food in the restaurant.
Has anyone stayed at the Manila Hotel? I stayed there last november for one night. Nice, elegant old hotel but I did not check out the Club. Is there any action in the Nightclub or Bar there? There are 2 Cafe Havanas, the original one is in Malate, just in the Adriatico circle and the new one is in Greenbelt 3 just by the fountain area.
If your going to be in Greenbelt 3 visit this bar on the very top floor above the movie theatres, it has the only balcony an provides a nice view of Greenbelt - sorry, I can't remember the name of the place.
Hanged out with a couple of pros with a buddy on my last trip at Cafe Havana, they thought I was Malaysian and spoke to us in English all night long. They wanted 5K each for the night, my friend and I both said no thanks and I believe they were quite surprise and upset that we walked away.

Did not see many ladies up there however, lots of laides in Cafe Havana, Starbucks and all the other places around it.
The 2 girls previously mentioned took us to Hardrock Cafe after to party some more and they were plenty of freelancers hangin out. Again, they weren't as hot compared to the girls I normally get in Quezon Ave and they were asking for 3-5K. - too much for me.
Have a great time on your birthday. I did not know you hang out in Leyte as well. I was there over Christmas for a couple of nites, stayed at Sabin Resort in Ormoc.

Manila Hotel has no ladies at all. I have been a regular since 1996 (two-three times a year), and I have never been approached by WG's in the hotel.
On the other hand, it is not a problem bringing in ladies. Not once have I been asked to register a girl (perhaps since they know me well by now :-) )
I usually pick up the ladies in EDSA or LA Cafe, unless it is a girl I met via internet. If the latter, I meet them in the lobby after prior agreement.

I have the excellent opportunity to visit Manila for a full week in upcoming February. I will be staying at the following hotel:

you have picked a nice 5 star hotel. Unfortunately it is about as far away from LA Cafe as you can get. I would say, with traffic, it will take you about 1 hour to get there from Ortigas/Mandaluyong.
May I suggest you move your reservation to the Makati Shangri-La, and that will make you much closer to the action.
If you can't change your reservation, then you will have to take cabs to Makati, or EDSA complex (Not close to EDSA Shangri-La) for some girls. Going to the LA Cafe is a goal for you, I know, but it is very far.
As for bringing girls, I don't see why not. I have never heard of such a problem there.

I hope that's not really "in Duarte". If so, I can understand the need for a RP trip. Sounds like the info you're getting is on the money, but. You may do better (a little) than an hour if you don't head out until later, say 9:00 or 10:00. Yes, you'll still have traffic and a longer haul than I would like, but, P. Burgos in Makati isn't too far and has some of the cutest girls in Manila. It is pretty damn expensive though. EDSA Complex is a cluster of gentlemens bars under one roof, on the north/east corner of EDSA and Roxas (runs along Manila Bay). Not a bad place for the first timer. It won't take quite an hour to get there, after rush hour, but almost.You could spend the first part of the eveing there, then say close to midnight, head for L.A. Cafe. Traffic shouldn't be a problem then.
It has been a few years since I lived in Manila, so my info may be bunk. I welcome the regulars here to correct me.

Personally I love P. Burgos, but, it is deathly expensive. Expect to pay over $100 per night, if you stay out and buy drinks and take a girl home. EDSA is half that cost.

Manila Pavilion Hotel is a 5 star in Ermita, Manila while EDSA complex is at Roxas Blvd corner EDSA, Pasay City. It is almost a stright line along Roxas Blvd. Nighttime w/ normal traffic should be around 15 minutes each way. All PI hotels are girl friendly. Enjoy.

Asked the Bellman, Security Guard or the Bartender at the hotel you are staying if he can recommend someone for companionship. I am pretty sure they can recommend. If you venture out, don't feel out of place because Metro Manila is "foreigner" friendly in general. But then again, you have to use common sense and listen to your instinct when danger lurks around.

while I haven't spent time at your particular hotel, I have stayed in the area many, many times. I don't know of any place there that is worthwhile.
I can't speak for the hotel bar, don't know anything about it.
When you get there you will see. There are a few cafes near by, like Starbucks, TGIFridays, etc. But, you are kinda out of luck for real girlie type bars.

First of all let me thank you for all the great reports about having fun in Makati. They were really helpful concerning what to do and what NOT to do.
I have been sent to Makati on a business trip and was staying at the Dusit Hotel. The rate there was about $65++ which totals to about $80 per day. The hotel is excellent and is also escort friendly, with absolutely no question asked, no fuss made or anything. The massage in the hotel is excellent (950 Pesos for 1 hour) and most of the masseuses offer a handjob. This is where it gets interesting. The asking price for the handjob is 2000 Pesos! After bargaining and telling them that I'm just a poor bloke with not much money, I've been able to come down to 500 Pesos, which is, well, ok.
The real fun however guys, remains LA Cafe in Malate. Forget about taxi driver/guides, KTV bars, close houses (which costs 3000 - 4000 pesos), massage parlours, etc. I have had the very best time in my life in LA Cafe.
On my first night in Makati, a taxi driver brought me to visit some close houses, three of them actually. The scene was like you enter a room and you find about 15-20 beautiful girls looking and smiling at you, telling you how handsome you are, etc. The girls range from 6 to 9. I chose one of them, paid the boss 4000 pesos for 1 whole night with the lady, and the taxi driver drove me back to the Dusit. We went to my room, made some small talk, drank some wine, took a shower together, and went to bed. The lady was a bit reluctant, but finally agreed to give me a BBJ. After that, we had sex in a number of different positions for about 40-45 mins, but through-out, I could see that she was a good actress in love-making, faking pleasure & orgasm. After that, she became moody and said that she wanted to go home. I was a bit pissed off by her attitude, but when she asked for some tip, i was completely pissed off and told her to go away.
On my second night, I decided to go to LA Cafe. This time, I did not ask for any taxi driver/guide. I just put about 1000 Pesos in my pocket and left my wallet in my room. This way, even if i made a bad encounter, it would be only 1000 Pesos. I grabbed a taxi in front of the hotel, insisted that he switched on his meter, and off we went to LA Cafe. The drive is about 20-30 mins and costs about 70-80 Pesos.
LA Cafe is a bit like an Irish pub and is on 2 floors. One pecularity of the pub is that it is free for men, but women must pay to get in! On a friday or saturday night, there are about 300-350 women in there, and only about 100 men. On weekdays, there are about 30-40 men for about 200-250 women. So as someone said in an earlier report, we, the hunters, become the hunted. The pub is on 2 floors, with some billards table on both floors. The ladies are all over the place and range from 6-10, of course depending on your tastes, and they are quite young too, between 18-25 I would say. There are some mamasans, who are quite obvious, but these have to be avoided at all cost.
The best time to arrive at LA Cafe would be around midnight or half past midnight. At that time, most of the girls have arrived and are settled down waiting for us. When you enter the pub, or when you climb to the first floor, all of them will stare at you, and you really feel like a star! :)
Most of the time, the girls will approach you with pickup lines like "you are very handsome, where do you come from, etc". If you do not fancy the girl, just smile back and say that u are already with someone else. They won't make a fuss. More often than not, they'll give you a big kiss and walk away. After that u've chosen the right one, just walk up to her, offer her a drink and start chatting, even the dumbest pickup line will do :). After chatting for about 45-60 mins, during which time you should have progressed from complementing her, holding her hand, caressing her hair, light kisses to heavy french kissing with hands roaming all over, it's now time to invite her back to your room. But remember to play the dumb one and NO MENTION OF MONEY AT ALL.
Actually these girls are all free-lancers and expect that you take them to your room. They are actually in LA Cafe for just that. They are really friendly, non-pro type and are great in bed too. Some of them are quite nympho as well. After lovemaking, she will usually cuddle real close and sleep, a real GF experience. In the morning, be a gentleman and offer her some coffee and continue sweet-talk her. If you are as lucky as I was, you can have a quickie before going out. She would just ask for her taxi fare. She will never demand for any specific amount of money, but expect that u hand over about 1000 pesos. If you play the dumb one, you can give her 300 - 500 pesos and get way with it. She will look crossed, but hey guys, we are not the red cross after all.
The trick is that the next time you go to LA Cafe, avoid the lady you fcuked the previous night coz this time she will not let you get away with only 300-500 pesos. She will most probably be there among the other ladies. You could be courteous and just say hello if u feel like it, otherwise u can downright ignore her. Look for another cutie, and the game starts again. However remember: playing the dumb one saves you a lot of money.
Conclusion: I was in Makati for 20 days, spent 4000 Pesos on a bad experience on the first night, then went to LA Cafe almost everyday and fucked a new lady each night, and spent only 300-500 Pesos each time.

An important note to those "House" or "Casa" girls, where you go to a closed house and around 20 girls for you to choose one for P3-4,000 overnight. he problem is that since the girl gets only P1,000 of that, she always gets moody & wants to go home (is sick, dont feel well), etc. If you really want her to perform well and stay the real overnight, when you get to the hotel room, tell her you know she only gets a little from what you paid, but you'll give her another P1,000-1,500 in the morning providing she treats you really well and stay till tomorrow. You will see a big change in attitude and probably GFE.
Cool Renegade, you really crack me up. You know you should give them at least P1,000 but play dumb and give them P300-500. That's so outrageous behaviour I dont know whether to razz you for being a cheapo or laugh at your antics for getting back at paid women for the rest of us who overpaid.

If I could get a quick handle on the Makati scene I might prefer to just stay there, or come back early from AC and check it out. I would like to find a hotel near LA Cafe/EDSA that is cheap and has an outdoor swimming pool. I am on tight budget. Also, I would like to meet regular filipinas for a possible relationship. One guy talked about a bar in Shangri-La where regular girls go. Where is this place and is it near LA Cafe. I am intrigued about LA Cafe because of one guys post about going there and playing dumb and only paying 350 to 500 in the morning when she leaves. Anyone else have this experience? Sorry, but this is a last minute trip and I need to watch my pesos.

My recent experience has been that, if you wait until about 10, the trip from Makati takes only about 20-25 minutes

Makati is much nicer than AC. This is the business district. That is my opinion. I used to go to AC a long time ago. But, it is not my scene. IMHO the girls are younger, and so many are so poor from the provinces. I like Makati, and have met many ladies with good educations not working in the bars.
Makati is much more expensive than AC. I suggest if you have enough time, you take a 2 day trip to AC, and see if you like it.
As for dress in Makati: In general, you its a good idea to not wear shorts. But, you can get away with it. Some of the nicer bars will not let you in. You can dress flip-flops and shorts in AC.

Concerning your question about dress code for LA Cafe, guys, most of the men there will be wearing t-shirt or some other "tourist" attire.

Walk down United Nations Avenue towards Roxas Blvd.
Turn Left on M.H. del Pilar St
Walk down about 5-7 blocks, it's on the right hand side of the street.
Walking during the day isn't so bad. At night, there will be street touts trying to talk to you to get you to go into some of the girlie bars that are on M.H. del Pilar St. My advice is to just keep walking and ignore them or stay on the opposite side of the street from them.
If catching a cab, you probably want to catch a cab on United Nations heading toward Roxas Blvd because I believe the street in front of the Manila Pavilion is one way.

I just got back from one of my biweekly trips to Manila and, once again, stayed at the Dusit. What you observed in the Dusit Hotel does happen to many (if not all) 5-star hotels in Metro Manila area. But not all of them have ladies all the time. Burgos St. and 20 minutes by taxi to EDSA and 30 or so to LA Cafe. The hotel itself was a good deal for P1400 and had the greatest shower I have ever had in my life. As for the exact address, I guess you can check the internet but anytime I enter LA Cafe I get listings of restaurants in L.A., California. Every cab I took always knew where it is and had no problem finding the place. Go after 9:00 pm but pickings get kinda slim after 1:00 am.

I arrived in Manila after a short flight of two hours fifty five minutes, from Bangkok, to be honest I have never rated Manila as a great mongering destination for the following reasons, one its been very much a rip of city, for the level of services offered, the prices do not reflex the services delivered, hotels are generally more expensive and quality much inferior to what is offered in Bangkok. Two, it’s the type of place where you have to be on your guard 24-7 because someone is always trying to rip you off or generally substantially overcharge you, added to the general crime rate where it pays not to stumble out of bars drunk and roll into the nearest taxi. Compared to Thailand where they may overcharge a small amount knowing that you are going to come back for more, my previous experience of Manila has been they want to take you for all you’ve got, in one go. Third, it was once suggested to me that Manila is the place in the Philippines that attracts the worst type from the various islands because in the other Island I have visited I have found it to be like in another country, which is why I have always taken to flying directly to Cebu which is far more relaxed.
However, I had been reading a great deal about Manila, Makati & Angeles City and wanted to at least have the opportunity to see what was on offer, so my plan was to first hit Manila for a few days then head off up to Angeles City. I arrived at Manila, the airport has improved since my last visit ten odd years ago and you don’t come out of arrival to find 20 or so people grabbing at your bags, all claiming to be related then everyone of them wants a tip. The airport has since improved in that aspect.
My first mistake was to book accommodation in the Makati Palace hotel, I had chosen this because the web site offered “true plug and play internet access” in truth what you get is dial up access via a card YOU must purchase from 7-11 Store across the road that doesn’t work anyway - the 30 or so times I tried. The other things is that there are no safe deposit boxes in the rooms,(?) don't ask me why, so if you quickly want to lock your shit up you have to trudge back down to reception whereby your guest could have fled with half the contents of your room that you thought were not so valuable. Other things wrongs, no hot water, only tepid and I like to wash myself; so after a few hours I had to bite the bullet and admit I had made a mistake and packed my stuff and checked out and headed off to the Dusit Hotel a real hotel with proper facilities OK it more expensive but I needed the proper services.

So for my first night on the town I had to travel back to Makati to P. Burgos Street, yes right on the door step of the Makati Palace hotel I suppose that the only good thing I can say about this place is that it has a lot of action on its door steps. In fact in my brief time there going into the lift what appeared to be a transvestites or transsexual – either way a man dressed as a women, who was with a girl tried to proposition me. Basically, the room is a smaller version of the bar below, but is much darker with couches surrounding the walls where you can take a young lady of your choice or two. I went back down to the main bar where there was now the odd person who came in and sometimes not ordering a drink would go straight back out and I then had another drink with Emily who said to me if you tell me what you like, I will find a girl for you. Day three in Manila
I also went back to P.Burgos Street a couple of nights later and decided to go back looking in a couple more of the bars to get a feel for scene. I went into a few of bars before I settled into one which is right next door to the Ivory, Rascals. LA Cafe looks like a nice newbie playground for mongers wanting to forego using a guide. Go to Travelocity or Orbitz.com. You can find RT airfare to Manila for around $800 if you look around. Also, skyauction.com is a good site for finding discounted airfare but, since you have to bid on the flights, you have to be patient to find the cheap ones although sometimes you can luck out and get a flight at 50% off. Also, if you don't have more than 1 suitcase to check as luggage, you can fly as a courier for Jupiter which services from SF to Manila and the airfare RT would cost you about $480 although you would have to also pay around $150 to fly RT to SF. Look up Jupiter air courier on google or yahoo and you will find the ph# as well as tons of info.

I just paid $ 654 at nwa.com using their sale. This is Northwest Airlines. You should wait until September or October to book your November flight. I do this every year for the last 16 years as I always go over Thanksgiving holiday. It is slow travelling then.
Go to www.nwa.com and click on Promotions and then click on fare promotions. But the deals usualy are not until 4-8 weeks before you travel. For Thanksgiving week this is no problem. For Dec 15 to Jan 15 you need to book ahead.
I have flown on 12 diferent airlines. China Air and EVA were both pretty terrible. Long waits in Taipei and lousy service from the Personnel. I am now looking into booking my next trip in June. Consider going on Cathay Pacific also on their $999 fare. This is really good as it can get you right into Cebu City from Hong Kong. You can stopover in HK, go to Shenzhen, China, return by bus or taxi to HK and fly to Beijing, China. Fly to Cebu or Manila and even to Japan or Bangkok, all for $ 999. Go to www.asiamiles.com.
I go to HK now on every trip and head into Shenzhen, China. I take Cathay Paciic from Manila but I am going to try Cebu Pacific this time. Get miles on NWA using Cebu Pacific. Cathay Pacific is nice.

best hotel in makati?
hi. in the past, i have always stayed at the makati shangrila hotel. the first time i went, it seemed the best based on my internet research, but i didn't know about this site, and have just stuck with the shangrila since i knew it. my question now: is there anything better? price is not an issue, since my clients pay.
i like the shangrila because:
1) it has a pickup-friendly bar on the 2nd floor
2) it is easy walking distance from pickup-friendly starbucks, pickup-friendly landmark, and pickup-friendly glorietta and greenbelt 3.

I used to stay at Manila Peninsula for several times (maybe some 30/40 times) this place is something really different form any other palce on world I've seen and lived so far, when the doorman open car's door saying "welcome back home Mr. XX" it gives a real special feeling, (expect it after the third time you come..) beside that I can confirm that its a GF place as long as you hold a low profile (just enter lobby and turn right or left - according to the wing where your room is) gret deal at asiatravel.com (as everywhere mentioned) - reg. asiatravel I may mention that I forward them my CC details and from that on I organized my holidays by phone with them, incl. Hotels out of Manila, flights ecc..real fine travel agency.

summary of hotel recommendations
based on the postings, the personal messages, and my previous experience, the consensus appears to be:
- if you don't care about price, the makati shangrila hotel is the best choice in makati re quality of room and food, amenities (pool, high speed internet in rooms), and proximity to gf hunting zones like 2nd floor bar, starbucks, glorietta, landmark, and greenbelt 3. note that gfs can go in and out without even passing by staff if they go upstairs to the second floor and catch elevator there. also note that if you join the free golden circle club you get free breakfast (you still have to pay for the gfs :-) and free fresh mangos and other fruit in the room daily.
- several other hotels are only very slightly lower in quality: manila peninsula, mandarin oriental, and intercontinental.
since price is not an issue for me (my clients pay), i'll stick with the shangrila.

I am back from my three days trip to Manila. Thanks to all who gave their info about Interconti. It is GF friendly and I had no problems at all. Three nights, three girls, a wonderfull trip. I picked them up from Bottoms, Bandidos and Jools. Will post some pix in the picture section later.

That is a risk you have to take, but I fell where I was staying and what we did together first, I didn't think that was going to happen. Always let your GF choose the other girl for your 3-some. Since it did not work out with the Hard Rock girl, have you tried the Skyline MP at the 8th Flr of Grand Blvd Hotel? Genius8's advice on the registration and requesting double keys is excellent. It saves the hassle, and saves having the girl(s) register when you walk into the hotel with her. I have never seen a hotel here that will give you any trouble at all about brining a girld to the room. The reason hotels make girls register and show IDs has to to with security and not morality.
I would add the Nikko Dusit to the list of top hotels. I stayed at the Intercon four weeks ago and it was lovely, but I actually preferred to Dusit, and the price is about the same.
Today would turn out to be a productive information gathering day, but not a very productive sex day. I woke up late and was still pretty tired. I got dressed and walked down the side street from the Heritage that runs parallel to Roxas Boulevard. There is a Burger King, McDonald’s and some Kenny Rogers chicken place located down that road. There are also several ATM’s to withdraw money from. I grabbed something to eat, grabbed some money and then headed over to New Magellan Massage.
A buddy of mine had written instructions for me to find the place, but he wrote it was east of Taft on the south side of Sen. Gil Puyat (Buendia Ave). The corner of Taft and Senator Gil Puyat is quite busy and bustling. There is also a big metro rail station there as well. I started walking east and could not find New Magellan. I continued walking east until I started feeling a little uncomfortable with the area, so I flagged down a taxi and went to Topaz Massage instead.
Topaz Massage is located on Yakal Street on the corer of Talisay in Makati. They are open 24 hrs and I was quoted prices of 1500 for a regular room and 2000 for a room with a Jacuzzi. The selection around 4 or 5 in the afternoon was large, but there was not one woman in the aquarium that I was even slightly attractive to. The building was incredibly hot and uncomfortable and the woman behind the glass – the cashier – did not seem friendly at all. I did not do a session there and did not return for the remainder of the trip.
So then I headed over Makati and the famous P. Burgos Street. I was dropped off right on the corner of Kalayaan and P. Burgos Street and the first bar that I noticed was Cuddles.

Now as you read this keep in mind that I did very little research beyond some skimming of the Manila guides and reports and what friends have told me. I had a little idea of what I was walking into, but not a good grasp on it.
I walked in around 6pm and there were about three ladies dancing on the stage. This bar was pretty small and narrow and the stage probably only accommodates about 5-6 dancers total. The mamasan comes over and plops herself down next to me and demands that I order her a drink. I tell her no way.
Then after about five minutes of sitting alone I was attacked by four ladies. Somehow, and I don’t remember how, they convinced me to take them all back to a private glass enclosed dark booth directly behind me and buy them all a round of drinks at 300 pesos each. So I did that and that is where some heavy petting, tit sucking, dick massaging and kissing took place.
The mileage was decent, but near as good as what someone could get in AC for a third of the price. The frolicking was decent and fun, bit still quite expensive compared to AC, but not quite as expensive as say buying ladies drinks in Nogales.
There was one lady in particular I took a liking to. Her name was Dori and she was 22. She was very, very skinny and did not have a large chest at all. She wanted me to take her, but I politely explained that I was not going to pay her 3000 peso barfine and then pay her on top of that. She immediately, but discreetly wrote her cell phone number on a napkin for me and told me to call her either tonight at 4am when she got off work or tomorrow in the daytime.
Sweet! My first Makati lady and she was already willing to part with the barfine to spend some time with me. I told her I would probably call her later tonight to hookup. I gave her a hug and kiss goodbye and then headed over to Foxy’s.
I should also note that Cuddles had incredibly high drink pressure. There was a gay guy who claimed to be a supervisor or manager and the dude was so annoying. He was constantly coming back into the private booth like every two minutes asking about more drinks for the ladies. Then he promised me a free shot and I had to “remind” him several times before he brought it. The whole atmosphere at Cuddles was annoying and I don’t recommend the bar at all. The talent was decent and I got out of the place with a phone number, but I still would bypass this bar.

The place was rather roomy inside. The lounge is open from noon to 8pm. The bar is open from 8pm to 4am seven days a week. There were about 20 ladies on stage, but none that I was really wanted to have sex with. They had a 1900 peso barfine there and you can get a blowjob upstairs in a private booth for the cost of 5 lady drinks at 300 pesos each.
There was still high drink pressure from the waitresses there, but not nearly as bad as it was at Cuddles. I did eventually find a nice lady there and brought her over for a drink. I chatted with her for a while and she wanted to go with me as well. I again explained I did not want to pay the barfine and she gave me her cell phone number as well for a possible late evening or daytime romp. I hung out with her for a little while longer and then headed over to Billboard.

The place is located directly across from Oxford Suites. It is hands down, the coolest bar in the Philippines with the most beautiful dancers, the best music, the best looking GRO’s, the best DJ’s and one of the best atmospheres of any bar/club I have ever been inside.
The décor inside is done up quite nicely. As you walk in there is narrow bar along the right with stools and seats to the left. Once you get to the back of the bar you find a large main stage with gasoline storage barrels below it. This stage is where choreographed dancing routines by beautiful, professional dancers take place. They have several sets of dancers that come out in groups of four of five. Some were called Billboard Dancers, Go Girls, and Fly Girls. There were probably more, but the Billboard dancers were my absolute favorites.
Below that main stage in a semi circle is a sunken dance floor where the GRO’s and customers can dance. Surrounding the outside of that semi-circle dance floor is about 6 or 7 small tables with vinyl couches behind them. The tables line the outside of the semi-circle sunken dance floor.
The coolest thing the GRO’s do with these tables is get up on them and dance. The area on the table is quite small, but it is so cool to watch. So you have four professional dancers on the main stage doing a choreographed routine. Then you have 7 hot GRO’s on the tables in a semi-circle shaking their asses back towards the main stage. It was awesome to watch.
The DJ’s were located on a platform directly above the main stage. Directly opposite of the main stage and DJ platform was the front end of a 57 Chevy that had a license plate on it that said “57 Chevy.” There were also stoplights and old style gasoline pumps decorating the bar and they had license plates from all around the world. Two that I remember were California and Rio de Janeiro. Off to the east or on left side of the stage if you are walking in from P. Burgos was an enclosed and segregated smoking room.
The GRO’s at Billboard were absolutely incredible and absolutely stunning in appearance. The first lady I met was Nicki. I was so close to taking her despite the 3000 peso barfine and the 3000 pesos she wanted on top of that. I tried my “I don’t want to pay the barfine” trick and then she suddenly had menstruation. Ah well, you can’t win them all.
Later on in the evening I met another hot young lady. This lady was 19 and a virgin, but I still bought her a couple of drinks and hung out with her. I wanted this chick so badly as well. She had an incredible body and I thought possessed a beautiful face. Here are a couple of pics of her. I wish I could have fucked her….
I love that place. There was high drink pressure to continue purchasing drinks once I had started drinking with a lady, but other than that the place was just awesome. Highly recommend! I finished up with my 19 year old virgin and then headed to Bottoms.

This bar was sunken a bit and is underground. Well, you head down some stairs to enter the bar. Bar Bandido was pretty cool and I agreed with the other posters that have recommended it. The ladies there are also really, really cool. The barfine at Bar Bandido is 1900 pesos and the lady drinks are 300.
I met a lady there named Cherry, who was 19. She was a really cool chick. She was friendly and outgoing, spoke great English and had a really good attitude overall. There was another lady there I met, who was kind of older and unattractive, but somehow talked me into a playing a game of Connect 4 with her for a lady drink. I, of course, lost and had to buy her a drink. I also bought Cherry a drink and hung out with her a bit.
I almost barfined her, but for some reason I didn’t, which was probably a mistake. It was getting closer to 4am now so I headed back to Cuddles to say hi to Dori, but I was getting tired so I quickly left. The plan was to head to back to the Heritage and take a short nap. Then I would call Dori so I could meet her and bring her back to my hotel. I set the alarm for 4am and the next thing I knew it was around 10 in the morning. All that work and I didn’t get to fuck one single time!
Some initial thoughts on Makati.
If you don’t have deep pockets and cannot easily say no, then Makati bars are not for you. It is so much work in the Makati bars to constantly fend off drink pressure from everyone that wants to separate you from your money as quickly as possible. If you have trouble telling people no, then do NOT go to Makati. If you are rich and don’t mind spending a lot of money on drinks that won’t get you any closer to sex, then don’t worry about it.
It is hard to just sit back and relax in the Makati bars. You are constantly being bugged for drinks and constantly being nagged about one thing or another. That is why Bar Bandido and Billboard and to a lesser extent Foxy’s were a nice change from the high pressure places like Cuddles and Bottoms.
The diddling mileage in the Makati bars is not nearly as good as the diddling mileage in the AC bars. The AC bars are also so much more laid back and relaxed. Going to Makati after coming from AC was quite an adjustment and change. The flip side of that, of course, if that the ladies in the Makati bars were SO much better looking than the ladies in the AC bars.
I was able to get phone numbers from the ladies about 60-75 percent of the time. I would continue to use this to my advantage for the rest of the trip and would recommend asking for numbers and see where it gets you.

Good report. I agree with you about Cuddles and Bottoms, last time I was there they pushed the ladies drinks far too much and I ended up walking out leaving a hot 20 year old!!! but I did get her number and called her later and got some action.
From my memory Foxys is not too busy during the week but they do have a large number of girls available but it all depends on what you want and what girl takes you fancy. I like Foxys because there is not to much pressure to buy the girls drinks and I even ended up calling out the girl's numbers at the end of the night once and that was fun!!! If you are looking for a super model i.e. a 10 you could be waiting and looking for ever but that is the same in most bars that I have been.
One Bar you may want to pay a visit to is Rascals. The girls there were good looking and not pushing the drinks to much but then again it all depends on the customer and their inter action with the girls and the Mamasans.
I will certainly try Billboard and Bar Bandito when I next visit at the end of this year. Yes, I know it a long way off but by God I will be cocked and ready fire. One place to look for girls outside the bar scene is the Bar in the Shangril -La. Its on the second floor and also you could try and speak to the SM and Landmark girls sitting outside the Glorietta shopping mall. But that is a case of some you win, some you lose.
I have noticed that a guy called JR get a good plug now and again so anyone who is new or need to find other forms of action could try him I will certainly give him call and try his services out.
If someone new is going to explore P. Burgos Street make sure you can say no in English and Tagalog because you can end up with a very hefty bill. One tip always buy your drinks and pay for it there and then. Never let the bar bill add over the night. One thing I do if I am going to stay in a bar is that I speak to the a Mamasan buy her a drink or two and get the bar set up from her and that means she will look after you and warn off the other Mamas that she is looking after you!! It works for me but it may not work for everyone.

When I get laid in Manila its usually arranged by 'Teen Escort' that advertise daily in the Manila Star. Dodgy name, but all their girls have sor far been in the safe age bracket. I do think some are genuine university students though supplementing income.

first, leaving on my first leg through the usa and we are delayed because there is this guy who is to big to fit in one seat and he did not buy two seats as most airlines request. really should have bought three seats and i'm not kidding. i think the delay was really to bring on more fuel once they saw him...just kidding

As one who married a lady in Thailand 16 years ago (lasted all of 14 months) I can only suggest two things:
Spend the money to go back and see her several times first. Do not rush into what may be the "single most important decision" you will make in your life; who to marry. I waited only three months and returned. Married after 3 weeks together. Had I taken a year to know her, I would not have married the woman.
Concentrate on the ladies who are not Pros and learn as much about their background as possible. I had relationships with several filipinas who were working in Hong Kong. Fucked them like crazy for a couple years. In each case I was assured they were single and childless. Later learned they were married with a husband and children back in the PI. Same thing happened to me with a couple women in Cebu.
In one case a letter from the sister of the girl's husband informed me of the situation. I had met the girl's friends and family. All had omitted the minor detail that she had a busband she was living with and had a child with as well.

I agree with Flying Scotsman. I have many expat friends here who have been happily married to Filipinas for long periods of time. However, most of these relationships involve women from upper middle class families, most of the ladies are well-educated and reasonably well off and are the socio-economic and educational equals of their partners.
This is not the case with lesser educated women from poorer families who may consider a marriage with a foreigner as a ticket out of a difficult situation. That's why (as usual) the Slayer is correct in his advice. Take the time to know not only the woman, but her family. Make sure that the latter is not going to regard you as the golden goose who is going to provide their means of support, and perhaps their visas out of here.
The chances are good, I think, that a lovely-looking, very young woman who hops immediately into bed with an older but richer expat, and within two days claims that she loves him has another agenda. This is not always the case of course, but it frequently is...I have seen it too many times not to think it's true most of the time.I guess the old adage of not thinking with your dick applies strongly here if you're considering some sort of longer term commitment.

Your point is well-taken, but it's equally true that many (certainly not all) of these stunning young women working at mundane jobs for low pay hang out at the clubs two or three nights a week looking for expats who will take them away from their prosaic, low-paid jobs.

Its true that a majority of girls are looking for some knight in shining armour to take them to away to this romantic vision of a new life, but don’t all girls in every country? But in my experience the majority of girls I know in the Philippines don’t hang out at bars to find them. The sort of girl that does three night a week is not the sort of girl you really want to take home to meet your family. That said, let’s not confuse these girls with the city girls, professional, earning a good wage and go shopping in Hong Kong for long weekends, twice a year, who like to socialize with their friends after a hard day at the office.
In my experience Philippino girls like correspond with guys, by regular mail or e-mail, either way the reality is that there is a greater number of decent girls to be found than let’s saythe bad girls.

I don't think it's a question of "good or bad" girls, but a difference in socio-economic orientation and status. You're correct that the strong desire to find someone who can get them the hell out of here is not unique to the Philippines...it's a univeral phenomonon in developing countries. However, the desire to relocate is more prominent here than any place I've ever been, and I have lived in the developing world for 25 years. Last year, the Social Weather Station, which is probably the most reputable of the national polling services here published survey results that indicated more than 70% of Filiponos said, if given the opprotunity, they would emigrate. This is, at least to me, an amazing statistic.
The percentage of young women (or men for that matter) who can afford to go shopping in Singapore or Hong Kong twice a year is extremely limited. Most such young people have been or will be educated in the West, come from very rich familiies and are not representative of the majority of Filipinos.
Most of the women I have met here, including the very middle class ladies with whom I work, are registered with one or the other internet services. Most of them (though not all it's true) are seeking some sort of relationship with an overseas male who will offer them the kind of financial security they are simply unlikely to find here.

Less than 5% of the population is very rich. I'm not talking about those ones that live in Alabang or other gated subdivision. The onn's I'm talking about at the names that you see on Streets and buildings. Zobels, Araneta, Lim, Puyat and others. Only about 30% live above the poverty line. Many of the middle class are struggling just to maintain what they have and live that "image". That image is very important to filipinos.
Filipinas have the advantage over men when it comes to getting a chance to migrate to another country. Most of the men go to the middle east or china to try to earn those dollars as contract workers. Filipinas just have to find that right gentleman or prince to take them away. Not all, filipinas but a lot. If not, many them ladies work overseas as, domestic helpers in Hong Kong or Saudi, GROs in Japan or nurses in London or Canada.
Yes, Juniour. There are more good girls than bad girls. Many would like to start a relationship first before anything else. Its just that the economic situation in the country drives many to do desperate things and look for what the locals call a "gimmik". For one that works in the Makati Business district everyday. I get to see a lot of stunning beautiful everday women in their company uniforms. It then becomes a challenge to pick one up. My only advatage, I'm white (puti or a kano to them).
I have been mongering all over the world for years and have ran into many different situations with many different types of girls, goods and bads. Since my first trip to the PI 3 years ago, I never wanted to go anywhere else because my encounters have been very positive. Most women in the world don't do this sort of thing out of pleasure or to get to go shopping in Hong Kong. As you all know, the folks back in the province or the kid(s) at home are the only reasons. Even the college educated living in these countries would have hard times finding jobs, what chances would these girls have with elementary level of education.
Phillipinas are more real and caring than others. This applies to both bar and regular girls. I have never been married, but like Flying Scotsman, I would see myself marrying one in the future, no question. All I beg of the friends in the WSG community is first, have fun, but leave with some RESPECTS to the girls and with this in mind, you may go back to your nice home or appartment in your country and back to your secure job, but most of these girls go back to their "rat holes" wondering when the next pesos will come. I'm not preaching, just reminding some of us that might forget.
If the jobs are in the Philippines, I am sure that many Filipinas, or Filipinos would stay. Due to Economic circumstances, that is not the case.
What the Philippines have is cheap labor, with education enough people. This is what investors/ businessman looks for. The problems with the Filipinos is that they are known to shoot themselves in the foot. What I am saying is that they finally get a okay job, and within a month, or 2, they go on strike! Business people are here to make money, not to get clobbered. So, the businessman closed shop, and what have the people now?
Anyway, to get back on track. Filipinos are not the loyalist people to their country. They will leave in a flash. Not like the Thai. They love their country, and are really not willing to leave.

Well said my friend. When you monger for a number of years you begin to develop a sixth sense regarding "genuine warmth" vs. "anything for a dollar" kind of attitudes. You are right that in the Philippines, these girls are not the same as girls in other countries. There is something different about them and I'm not a poet so I can't capture it in words. You know what I mean though, I'm sure of that. That is why I always indulge the girls of the Philippines a little more than anywhere else. They are truly a friendly and genuinely happy and beautiful people. Treat them with respect because at the end of the day, isn't that what you want in return?

It's true, I have never seen women anywhere else in the world respond with so much warmth and genuine pleasure to just a little kindness. It's also true that this attitude persists regardless of occupation or social class. The fact is however, that most women here (or probably men for that matter) do not live well, even if college educated, for the simple reason that there are so few jobs and those that do exist are poorly paid. It's a universal human tendency to want to live a better, more secure life and these girls cannot be blamed for wanting more than they have. Most of the bar girls I've met here come from poor families, have children from local boyfriends who abandoned them early in their pregnancies, and become GROs because there's nothing else for them to do. Most of them, I think, give most of the money they earn to their families to which they feel an enormous obligation, and most pay for the education of their younger siblings.
The employment situation here is so bad that even university educated young, Filipinas will take any jobs they can get. I have a friend whose maid has a BS in Commerce and the PhP4,000 plus room and board that he pays her is far more than she could earn elsewhere, provided she could even find a job.
For any of you who hae not been here, and contemplate coming, respect is, as Grizzled indicated, the key attitude that determines if you will truly experience Phillipine hospitality or not. This holds true no matter the situation in which you meet someone. A touch of genuine kindness goes a long way here.

To elaborate on what Good Enough said: I have been dating a single, 27 y/o Makati woman (no kids) who has a B.S. in accounting. She works for a large Brit auditing firm and earns 15,000 pesos (about $270.00) monthly. One day she took me to her little one room "studio" apartment. You are so right when you say there is not enough jobs for those who graduate from college. Last week, the company I worked for has decided to hire 30-40 new computer techs for expanding the call center. I've been assisting the HR managers all week and sorted out thousands of applicants. So many are qualified but the hardest finding the best among the group. The job pays only P20,000 a month on average compared to what the company would pay someone in the States. About $2,000 per month.
One applicant touched me so bad that if she couldn't get the position, she'd like to be considered for a security guard or elevator girl. It is easy to see why a female would sell herself during desperate times. Also that when looking for applicants, they have to be between the ages of 18 - 25 years old. Age discrimination is still practiced here. If your over 28 to 30, you are considered old in the work force.

The "studio" apartment sounds suspiciously like the one that my (mostly live in) girlfriend still maintains, and I suspect it's the standard of luxury for young women here who do not make much money. My lady here earns about $200-$225 a month as a sales manager, and her parents, who do not choose to work, are always after her for money to support them. This seems to be the universal story here.
As you report, a small investment goes a long way and is repaid many times over.

This is just a report of one of my conquest while I was in Makati over the last 40 days. Also have been in Hong Kong. You can read on some of my activities on that board.
On one note. I did end up in the Philippines for longer than 21 days in a row. Evidently this is a violation of their immigration law. I found this out during my departure. They made me pay a 2,520.00 peso fine. That was all.
This girl, Ester (see picture section), I took out of Rascals on P. Burgos Street. I was in there drunk and buying a few girls some drinks. At first she wouldn't go with me. But after consulting with her friend she agreed. I'm not sure why she had to consult with her friend. She is in school and her friend also. I think that they were doing this job only for the money between school semesters. That they only intended to do drinks only. Not to go out. But somehow I got the best of her.

Of course, I play along and tell her that I'm leaving for Hong Kong in two days. That I don't have the money right now, but will send it from Hong Kong. Hope she is still waiting for her pot of gold thinking how lucky she is to find a sucker like me. I'm sure that it was either a Boy Friend or the school mate girl that dances with her that pushed her into this.

Anyway, in answer to your question regarding the motel, you went to - if I am correct it is the Victoria Court(picture of a woman with a her finger to her lips, as if going shhh)is their logo.
They are designed just for just that LT and ST. The Victoria Court is a chain and they are pretty much all over Manila and Makati.
My cousin did a marketing report for their corporation a couple year back, and found out that depending on the hour of the day, the demographics of their guests were different. Late Am to Early PM, it is bored housewives and their lovers - Early PM to Early Eve, Husbands and their secretaries, and after hours college kids, and the rest of us mongers! If not the Victoria Court Change, their competition is the Anito Lodges.
They are pretty awesome for our purposes as the are totally discrete.

I thought 9K pesos, that the girls asked me for the operation was bad, but 50K????? The problem is that she asked me up front, and I had to come up with an alibi. This was my second trip at the time, and I thought that it is only 200 USD, hmmmmmm, Maybe. Also, she had a sister in the States, so I ask her what happened to her sister? She is coming. She told me. and I said good, she can help you, b/c that isn't too much money. Guys, this the second time I was with this girl.
Anyway, I told my friend, who was visiting to talk to her, b/c he was in the Philippines. He came up with the story, that I did have the money the other day, but gambled it away.
Anyway, if she is good with the 100 USD a month, and can save it in 10 Months, to a 1 1/2 year, that would be 1K USD, and converted to pesos 50K, there you have it!

That is the difference. f you know the girl well, then yes, maybe. If you plan to marry the girl, then yes, maybe. If it is a ***** telling me this, Aaaah HELL NO! I am not only flinging. It is business as usual. There are girls that you will meet in a short time, and have the nerve to ask, b/c they feel they will miss the opportunity. Never contact her again, and don't ask for any referrals from her. Otherwise, don't complain if you get caught in the "I need... " or "my family needs..." trap or whatever other excuse to get a few more bucks for nothing out of your pocket.
If you find yourself in that situation though, then you really have no one to blame but yourself. These con artists are all over the place. You can find them anywhere in the world, not just the Philippines.
Remember, "working girls" aren't paid to have sex with you, they're paid to leave you and forget that anything ever happened.
I was trying to locate a hotel for a few nights end of this month in Makati. One of the web sites has this special on MAKATI PALACE HOTEL on P. Burgos Corner Caseres Sts., Makati City, Metro Manila. Has anyone heard or stayed at this place? The deal is for $35 / night, sounds too good to be true! Appreciate some insight on this and being on the corner from Burgos, I think the action will pretty much be all there!

$35 for a three star hotel in Makati is very reasonable and you can expect good service and a nice room most of the times. I stayed in the Oxford Suites on P. Burgos street and was impressed with the hotel for only P2000 a night. Most hotels around P. Burgos are very easy with regards to guests and you're right it's in the middle of the action.

Agreed, another advantage with being in the area is that girls can easily 'sneak out' to your room after their shift ends. The Burgos Street bar fines are ridiculous. Even the girls complain that the bar fines make it very difficult for them to go out. Last time I agreed to meet a 'sneak out' girl at a cafe down the road, six turned up!

I was staying in Makati in 2003 and went in the "Palace" to check it out. It looks fabulous at night from the outside but you change your opinion once inside. In fact, the smell of garlic was pervasive on two occasions. According to a ex-pat Manager of "the Matrix" who lived at the Palace , The Oxford Suites was the best bargain on P. Burgos St. at about P2700 for an executive room with breakfast at that time . They are only one block apart , both right in the middle of everything and girl friendly as are all the places on P.Burgos St.
Just got back. Shangri La and Penninsula are guest friendly (not even an issue) and all were excellent places to stay. Extremely luxurious. A guest/friend from Burgos St. said the Makati Palace is very nice with pool on the roof and a real value for the traveler. I got the idea she has stayed there a few times.
Without much effort, twice girls met up with me after their shifts. I still over-tipped because they were excellent partners.
Nightclubs: Night Train and Matrix on Burgos had a really young clientele with freelancers in the mix. Havanna down in Greenbelt was really active with some obvious and brazen freelancers, but mostly just non=pro singles out looking for a good time. It is a nice scene for those looking for a little upscale scene with music and outdoor drinks. Also in Greenbelt is Ice which wasa younger dancing crowd that was alot of fun. Some notable talent, but unclear about any pros. Second floor bar at the Shangri La is posh and a very sweet Happy Hour, but it is recommended that you effort the dress code to smart casual. Unsure about any business there, but, hey, it is Manila!
Burgos St. is a party haven, but as others have pointed out, the bars are pricey in comparison to EDSA, LA Cafe or Angeles. The girls are a bit more sophisticated in general and, maybe, a tad more quality in looks as a whole.
Got massage at Penninsula two days in a row. Happy Ending offered each time after mediocre massage by minimally interested girls at steep prices (Massage 1000 Pesos with HJ extra 2500 Pesos....was not interested in bargaining). Of note, however, one of the massages came with a tremendous HJ with prostate rub out for those who enjoy that.
Has anyone been to the Imperial Bath House is on Makati Avenue recently? There hasn't been a report since January. I was just wondering the quality of the girls there, and if there is any recommendations for the 2 girl option. I know some girls don't get into it.

I arrived in Manila last night after a long flight frm the states, and decided it was too late, and I was too tired to go to LA Cafe, which is my normal haunt. Therefore, I went to the EDSA Complex where I had not been in quite a while. As others have noted recently, there was a paucity of customers in the bars, and I don't think any of the places had more than three or for guys. I hooked up with a really attract 22 year old at the Firehouse, and spent a nice night and morning with her. The bar fine was PhP1000 and, because I liked her, I gave her PhP3,000, though there was no price agreed beforehand.
It's a good time to be in Manila as the girls are as plentiful as ever and there are so few customers. It's definitely a buyer's market. However, I still don't like the aggression of the mama sans at EDSA, and the price of the ladies drinks is ridiculous.

This is my second night in Makati, and, because I was fully rested and content after last night's experience, I took the long cab ride (20 minutes) to the LA Cafe, which is typically my favorite haunt. It lived up to everything its detractors have been saying about it. There were lots of women, but not of really high quality. There were two that interested me, but one was with her boyfriend (at least for the evening) and the other just blew me off. It's the first time I ever got rejected at this place.
Thinking that the evening was going to be a solid waste of time, I ambled across the street to Jurrasic Park, where I had an excellent time. There were at least four dancers and GROs there who were fine looking, and I hooked up with a 20 year old dancer, for whom I am waiting at this moment because I did not want to pay the PhP1000 bar fine. This place is an excellent spot to kick back. There are few customers, some excellent women, and no hassles or pressure. Ladies drinks are PhP350, but the ladies nurse them for a long time. I don't know if this girl will show up or not, but even if she doesn't it will be okay. The next tme I will just pay the bar fine and leave with the chick of choice. There is no discussion by the way of fees for the ladies. I assume it's up to the client and the girls did not seem uptight about it.
Guys, check out this place when you get tired of Burgos, EDSA, and the other expensive joints.

The big Makati hotels charge about $15 per day for connecting to the net through their networks, which work both through the normal cable transmissions and through wireless connections. I yet to find any that offer the connection gratis. Most of the wireless connections in these places are limited to the lobby areas and there are network cables in the rooms.

For you who did not know, Makati is a part of Manila, southeast of Manila center.
Taxi:
Always stay away from fixed rate on taxi. On second floor at the airport you can hire incoming taxis and let them charge by meter. To Makati it was 91 Peso, compared to fixed price 400-500 P - guess this tells the most! 90% of the taxi drivers will try to fool you, they also have no exchange money.
Hotels:
Makati Palace 2670 P. About 30 floors, good standard, in the middle of the action.
Makati Tower hotel junior suite with separate bedroom 2000 P. Medium standard. About 30 floors, 100 meter east in Burgos street.
Several hotels with rooms from 1600 P and up.
Action:
Lot of clubs and action. Bar fee seems to be 3000 P, i heard 2000 to girl and 1000 to mamasa. Drinks 200-250 P. Of course you soon might have 10 friends who want drinks from you (non-alcohol mostly) at 300 P each, but just say no. You decide who you shall invite, tell mamasa and she know you can the game.
Outside Makati Palace lot of younger girls, 18++.
At bar closing time 3 and 4 am, a lot of girls from the bars in the street. They ask about 2000 P, but you can negotiate. And you should say no if they want to bring a friend - usually an ugly girl for near the double price.
Enough for now, it is 9 am in the morning. I have not slept yet, although I've been to bed tonight - several times....:))

There's a danger in saying "always" or never. There's nothing wrong with using a non metered taxi, if you're familiar with the route and know what it should cost. Many taxi drivers lease their taxis and pay a surcharge on top of their lease based on the metered amount. A driver who doesn't want to use the meter may just be trying to save some of his money, rather than planning to cheat anyone (other than the leassor).

I agree with Firedick, I usually never use a metered taxi. But I know my way around and what it should cost. Its sometimes very hard to wait around for a metered taxi. So pay attention to the meter if your not familiar then you can use either/or when your more familiar in traveling around PI.
House Hunting! I want to look around the Manila area for a house or condo to rent. Not right in Manila but within maybe a half days drive. I think I would like a gated communiyt that caters to ex-pats. They don't have to be Americans but I do want the added security.
I will only have a couple weeks this next trip and I don't know anyone there so how do I get started? Should I be talking to real estate agents? If I don't find anything I like near Manila I will check out another area next trip - maybe Cebu or Daveo. I am at a loss how to proceed.

I just returned from the Philippines today. I have a report on the Imperial Bath House. I went there two different days, a Thursday and a Friday. On Thursday they only had about 6 girls working. On Burgos, there are a few internet cafes that are cheap, cheap, cheap. And, the other clientele, usually all GRO and dancers, provide added entertainment.

Firedick, when I read my own report again I must agree to you, "never say never".
Member #1986, for me firsttimer in Manila it is difficult to know distances, regular fee and so, or argue again 50 P extra since sunday or because he had to wait a little. But whatever: 50 P is less than a dollar, yes I rather give it as extra tips to a taxidriver who doesn't try to screw me.
BTW, a local girl told me to watch out for extra button on his hand (if he drives with one hand only) or the foot, 10 P pr. push.
FYI: the taxidrivers seems to lease for 600-1400 P a day, depending on working hours.
Well, enough about taxi's I hope. This is a little off-topic.

Re broadband connections.
I usually stay at the Makati Shangrila. The broadband connection is reliable and fast, but they charge extra for it. You can get half off the breakfast buffet for 1 person by joining the free Golden Circle Club (and there are few other minor perks).
The Peninsula Manila has free broadband. In addition, they have a long-stay deal that is $95/night ($114/night net after taxes) if you stay 7+ nights. This also includes the complete breakfast buffet (register for two people since it is the same price and then you don't have to pay for your GF either), and free pickup/dropoff in the hotel limo.
IMHO, the pool, bar (Conway's) and especially location (closer to Starbucks, Glorietta, and Greenbelt) of the Shangrila are better, but the price is MUCH higher ($140/night net is the best I can get from a discounter). Price is not much of an issue with me, but still, that difference makes me consider switching.

Re privacy: two comments and a question.
Comment #1: All Makati-area hotels I have seen are very GF-friendly, and there is never a problem bringing in girls as long as you are with them. If you (or they) want a little extra privacy, at the Makati Shangrila where I stay, girls can go upstairs to the second floor (by the Conway bar) and catch the elevator there. That way, the hotel staff never sees them going in or out.
Comment #2: if you want even more privacy, consider the Victoria Court drive-in hotels. Those are the ones that advertise around Manila with the billboards showing a silhouette of a woman with a finger to her lips and the caption "Privacy assured. No questions asked." Anyhow, you can pay cash for a room and never show ID. And, you can get a room with an attached garage, drive in, and go into the room with nobody (and I mean NOBODY) seeing you or your partner(s). Of course, I never rent a car, but the point is that you can get in and out of the room without anybody knowing who went in. Some of the rooms are actually quite nice, with jacuzzis, ceiling mirrors, etc. For locations and phone numbers, see victoriacourt.biz.

Just back from a week in Manila.
Spent the first couple of nights on Burgos, at Flamingo, Bottoms, Billboard. Just my opinion but Billboard seems to consistently have the largest number of girls that I would want to pay for, though the price is high and they hustle the drinks hard. Flamingo is the most laid back of the batch - also it's the one place that doesn't have a separate smoking section but they'll let you smoke anywhere in the club. But Bottoms is the one where when I sit in the smoking section the girls will open my pants and give me some action right in the club - this time, as on other visits, I got a BBBJ in a booth after buying the second round of drinks for two girls.
Two nights hanging out around Havana at Greenbelt. Very large percentage of lady boys hanging out there; also a few "genuine" girls obviously looking to make some money, but anything that really stood out from the crowd for me was already taken.
Now, if you want to try your luck at something different, one night I hit a couple of discos with local friends. There are no working women at these places but there are a large number of single beauties if you want to try your luck on getting a "regular" girl. The places were called Club Halo and Club V (letter "v", not Roman numeral 5), and they are right next to each other next to the Premiere Cinema, corner of Amorsolo and Dela Rosa Streets. They don't start to get busy till midnight and stay open till 6 or 7 in the morning. A few other white guys to be seen, mostly in their 20s, I'd guess local expats.
Thursday night at V, many of the women were identified to me as local movie stars, TV stars, models, and I have no reason to doubt this. These were the most beautiful women I've ever seen in the Philippines - tall, long hair, light skin, perfect bodies, ultra short skirts, many not wearing bras. MTV had a crew there around 1 AM taping the crowd and interviewing some of the celebs. Since I'm 50 and not in the best of shape, none of these women even acknowledged my existence. But if you have the right look, maybe you can get something of a bit better quality here.

just to add to gweilo's post, Halo is a cool bar, but be warned its mostly where young and rich go to roll (If you know what I mean). It's not your typical locals there. Many there are rolling or looking to roll. So If that's your scene, it's a great time. Many higher end GRO's go there after work to get loaded too.
As for more normal bars in makati try Salcedo Village. There are many cool bars where many of the young, rich kids hang out. Great eye candy but if you're not part of their group or a hipster yourself, you might be better off at Peanut Butter (my code for P.Burgoes St)

Theres an internet cafe called 88 (across the street from the bar called MATRIX) where I've seen 2 private rooms that were closed off to the rest of the work stations. I don't know how much extra, if any, do these rooms cost. But generally it costs P30/hour for the regular work stations that are out in the open. Hope this helps.

I've been researching the Makati board as I will be visiting the area in Dec 2004. I just have more specific questions to ask to better my chances of a good time in the PI.
This will be my first time visiting the PI. I'm young (25yo), American born/Americanized filipino, and am very limited in tagalog (speaking & understanding). I will be traveling with my family (meaning with parents/relatives) and staying at the Shangri La Makati Hotel.
My questions are:
How do the girls take to American-born Filipinos?
Does that differ from working and NON-working girls? or same?
Do they act the same way towards my type just as they would a caucasian tourist? (because of our money/status)
Do I have a better advantage with the ladies since I'm American and Filipino?
Since I'll be with my family, is there a way to do my mongering on the downlow and, at the same time, safely?
Is it better to stick out as an American or try to mix in with the locals? (My dress and style is very trendy/american)
I guess my questions goes out to the younger mongers, filipinos, or at least from another's monger's perspective on when they see filipino-americans in the PI.

If you come over convinsingly as a long term prospect then the older foreigners who might be there will not get a look in !!
From my visits to PH (and similarly TH etc) the vast majority of girls are looking for a long term comfy relationship (preferably in a country where if the relationship goes belly up they can stay and still be comfy).
They feel that the best chance they have of getting one is to allow foreigners to monger in the hope that one monger will be hooked long term - and in the meantime they will have more money that their sisters who hooked up with a lazy San Mig crazed local boy who wants a baby every 15 months until she hits menopause.
Convince them that you are the "foreigner" and not the local and you will have a field day, and will "Mum" really mind if she sees a nice Filipino girl on your arm (but keep the bedroom door locked)!

What a pleasure it is to glean so much valuable information from all you PI experts. I have never had the pleasure of visiting what sounds like a true paradise before but will be in Makati on the 29th of this month. My secretarty has booked me into the Intercontential Hotel for my 10 day stay. This seems to be located in close proximity to Burgos Street and all the action. But I have to ask you guys about this hotel since I can't seem to find any information in the postings.
Is the Hotel OK (girl friendly etc.)?
Would it be better for me to stay someplace else?
Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I travel quite a bit around the world. I have been to KL in Malaysia. Dubai in UAE, Venezuela, and England just to name a few places. If you need any information on these areas don't hesitate to ask.
As far as you are concerned you were born and grew up in US.
But as far as average Philippino thinks you look Philippino and assumes you are living in Philippines.
The reaction from the girls is not so much what you look like but how you treat them in or out of sack. Having said that money talks most of the time.you may have a big advantage because you talk Tagalog and also you look Philippino.
You should worry more about how to get away from your parents and do your thing.
Like anything else some girls like some and dislike others.

I just returned from Makati and I stayed at the Intercontinental. You won't have any problems whatsoever bringing girls in.
The hotel security will call you when the girl leaves to make sure it's ok with you if the girl leaves. I like that extra bit of security.
If you use the hotel transportation steer clear of any offers to take you to bars, etc. You will be charged a premium price in comparison to a regular taxi.

I am also a Fil-Am, and I have no problems hooking up. It's true that some chicks prefer white guys, but also some prefer Japanese/Korean/Arabic/whatever. Like said before, money talks for some but i just treat them nice and with respect. My MO is to make them fall in love with me, but that takes time and persistance. If your game is good, you can get a "roomate" for free.
As for the tagalog, learn some before your trip. It goes a long way to improve your game. They like you more if you try to speak in their language, it's cute to them.
As for sneaking out, if you have any cool cousins or friends in the 'pines, slip into the conversation that you are curious about the bar scene. Ask where the girls are. If they are cool they'll understand what you mean. Many of my cousins go out to those places but keep it on the down low. Some of them are regulars.

i'm planning to hit up the motherland soon...
last may i stayed in makati with some family and fortunately was able to sneak away with a family friend who took me to pegasus!
went downstairs to the massage room. p1200 i think to get in and another p1200 tip, best massage i've ever had.
anyhow, im still new to everything, went downstairs and peeped through a window where i got to choose from about 40 ladies sitting pretty in uniform with numbers pins on their dress. anyhow after much comemplation i chose a good one, was led to a shower and my room where i completed my hour.
i never went up stairs into the actual strip club? are the ladies better out there?
this was the only place ive been to while i was there. are there any others i should check out?

I was reading WSG forum Sri Lanka reports and found Sri Lanka has some nice places where foreign girls work.
I am going to Sri Lanka next month and will meet some local friends there.
So I think there is much lucrative jobs for Filipino girls in Sri Lanka as the present Chinese and Russian girls are fat and chubby and less attractive. In my experieance I know Filipinas are really cute and speaking English. They care about their body and health a lot. So they will have a good time in Sri Lanka.

Call the sales director and tell her you need a corporate rate plus if you are staying long you can get a 85 dollar rate for 30 days or longer, otherwise 100 which includes breakfast and tax would be the best. The Marriott is also nice and corporate rates are only 65 .but I stay at the Shangri La, the rooms, health club and pool are wonderful. For a local agency try anscor travel, they get special rates.
I am planning to spend a few nites in Makati in late October. Does anyone know of a clean and guest friendly hotel in Makati that charges about $30 US per nite, or about P1500? I could go up a few dollars but not much more. I do want to stay in Makati though.
Also, I will be travelling around solo in the Philippines in early November, after I leave Makati. Not sure of my exact destinations. Drop me a line if you are interested in having a drink together in the Philippines.

Don't book directly with the hotel; you can beat it easily at several other places. For example, try www.budgetasiatravel.com, http://www.asiahotels.com/location-listby-name/Makati-Philippines.asp, and even hotels.com. Or do a search at google for "Makati Hotels". However, you should go to the hotel Web site and join the free Golden Circle Club; that gives you free continental breakfast (or half off their hot buffet), fruit in the room, and "spouse" for free (take it so you have a 2nd key for your GFs).
Be careful when comparing prices: some of the sites list pre-tax prices, and others list after-tax prices. Also, some of the discounters require you to pay in advance and make refunds for changed plans difficult.
Also, be warned that you cannot do much better than $140/night after taxes at the Makati Shangrila (and even that is a big discount). If anyone can do better, I'd appreciate a tip on how.
Now, I love the Shangrila, and almost always stay there. Great buffet, nice pool, good restaurants, very GF friendly, and very close to the pickup places (Conway's on the 2nd floor, Starbucks outside and across the corner to the left, Glorietta Mall straight across the traffic circle, Greenbelt and Landmark 2 blocks away). And of course the GFs (especially the non-pros) are impressed with the Shangrila. But it is NOT walking distance to P. Burgos St. Also, it is overpriced. If you want something much cheaper but with only slightly worse quality, consider the Peninsula Manila, which is about a block away. If you book directly from their Web site (manila.peninsula.com) and stay 7+ nights, you can get a room for $95 night ($114 after taxes). And, this includes the full breakfast buffet (register for 2 people and your Gfs can eat for free too), free broadband internet access (the Shangrila charges me something like $15/day), and free airport pickup and dropoff in their limo. All in all, you will save $50/night or more at the Peninsula. (Even so, I admit I still prefer the Shangrila! :-) )

Other Hotels near Shangri-la.
The New World Renaissance is directly across from Green belt 2.
Where there are pick up opportunities as well.
A short walk, on an elevated covered walkway, to the Glorietta Mall and the Shangri-la hotel/Star Bucks area. The walk takes about 10 minutes
New World is a nice place, girl friendly and if your a marriott club platinum or gold marriott hotel club member you can get automatically upgraded to the executive floor. Here you get three free meal a day and a free two or three hour cocktail event every night where you can have your drinks for free.
I had Business guest one night and they just went to the front desk and asked for a key to the executive floor as they had a meeting there. They were given a key with no questions asked. So you may be able to visit the executive floor even if not upgraded for the free drinks.
The price on line at the Marriott web site for a regular room is $90 US dollars a night.

Just to add to Trav Man's suggestions, many of the hotels (inc the Shang and the Penn) have a special local or "balikbayan" rate(returning locals from other countries). This is usually considerably cheaper then their advertised rate. If you are a balikbayan or are good friends with someone locally who can book your room, you should inquire this rate.

Just returned from a few days in Manila, fruitful as always! One nice thing about Manila; if you have a couple free hours between meetings in the afternoon, there is always somewhere to go.
Although it can be a bit pricey I headed off to P. Burgos and in to Dimples one afternoon. Just a few beers and a quick BBBJ at my seat and on my way! Service with a smile and they always give a phone number so you can meet them later for an all-nighter, without the barfine.
Amboy is right on about the "balikbayan rate".
Shangri La recently ran a weekend special for "locals" only. A RP drivers licsense sufficed as proof of residency, even for us white guys. Sorry, can't remember the exact rate but it was in the neighborhood of $120 for two nights.

Concerning hotel rates, I also found that Gulliver Travel seems to have better rates than most internet sites. I did have to use them thru a travel agent though. An example was that the Dusit was $85 - 90 on the internet, but $65 thru Gulliver with great breakfast buffet.
Also they are very accommodating with ladies, taking good care of their customers. One night I had a young lady arrive at the hotel at about 1am. The lobby was dim with just me and security when she arrived in a taxi.
The one security, without saying a word, just followed us thru the lobby and up the lift with us to be sure we got to the room ok and ensure no problems.

New Renaissance Hotel has an all year round "balikbayan" rate at approximately $50 a day. Try to find somebody local to help you out and just sign the financial responsibility sheet.
