I don't know or care what they are. I call them TS's. Whether they still have a package or not, I don't care. It all is very scary to me. And as a strictly heterosexual male, it worries me alot to be in places where TS's reign.
Ladyboys are no big deal in the Philippines. They don't invoke the negative connotations here that they might get in Australia. If you ignore them, then they are harmless. Everyone has a right to make a living. If they are plying their trade in Burgos or Fields everyday, you can be assured there is a ready market for their services.
Given that 5-10% of the general population is gay or bi, then the same proportion of sex tourists are gay or bi. The other night I saw two Korean gentlemen enter a bar with two ladyboys. They were all served just like any other customers and no one took a second glance. In the lift other day, a distinguished looking white man got in with a beautiful lady boy. Who cares? Just accept it.

Back 10 years, when Burgos was all Aussies etc. , the TS's were few and far between. There is some truth to your timeline. But the bakla have been hangig in the area from Oxford to Kalayaan for many years now. If they were there just for middle-easterners, they would hang around the other end of Burgos, where the shwarma / hookah places are, near Citadel. They take any / all ethnicities as customers, including pinoy.

I don't know who looks for TS but I'm pretty sure no dude goes through the expense, pain and hassle of getting fake tits, then hangs out in public solely to get shagged up the arse by other men unless they really need the money, so let them get on with it. If you really are interested, there's a guy on the Stickman website that goes into great detail about why he likes them, his username is "The Pretender", to each his own.
I don't think that you're accurately reflecting the situation on Burgos St and the surrounding area. As Westie has rightly mentioned, there have been TS hanging on corners and calling to guys since I started visiting. Never have they got grabby and never have I see one actually in a bar (certainly not Bourbon Street, Kojax or Bottoms). Sure they can be annoying if you bump into a few in a row, but it's a small price to pay in what is usually a fun place to hang out.
The demographic of punters seems to be pretty similar to me now as it was 2 years ago. Yes plenty of middle easterners, indians, but still the majority is "western", or at least it sure was last night at about 11 pm.
Had a lovely Mexican Burger at the Filling Station before heading to H&J to watch the football. The area seemed to be teeming with groups of young white girls doing (what I can only imagine was) some kind of team-building exercise, a bit surreal.This issue was addressed previously in the forum. If you like TS, get a TS. If you don't, then be sure you don't. As far as I'm concerned, the guy (OP) got off for less than he would have if he stepped into a Burgos St. Bar. Too bad he wasn't savvy enough to figure out what he was getting, and too bad he now feels guilty for participating in the often tortuous scene we mingle in. He'll just have to come to terms.

I'm a planner. Always have been. I like my trips to SE Asia to be meticulous in terms of who I'm meeting, what I expect from that meeting and (if applicable) what I'll be outlaying in terms of cash. In a way it means I can do the mental calculus to define if I'm maximising my fun per time per meeting VFM ratio.
So it was a relatively new experience to jump over to Manila for a few days from Singapore with virtually nothing planned (except for a last minute condo booking).
Actually that's a bit disingenuous. I always have plans to meet girls. Between my fake FB account, my pre-existing contacts / previous meetups and an OK Cupid account for "new blood", there's always a list of naughty young fillies to get around to. But on this occasion I hadn't actually scheduled times and dates.
Arriving at T1 with hand luggage only, it meant I was out of the airport and into a yellow taxi within 20 minutes (stopping briefly to pick up yet another local sim / data package). Thankfully that seems to be a fairly popular drop off spot for white cabs so I was able to get one there, but the who process easily took 30 minutes. More fool me.)
Friday night I met MEL, my 20 year old regular who graciously threw a sickie that day so we could hang out. Usually Mel likes to be treated in the manner to which no doubt she is accustomed (and judging by the jetsetting she does on Instagram, I'm the poorest schmuck to get the pleasure of her company). She was feeling in the mood for a shits and giggles night of cocktails and junk food, so we went to the Hard Rock Cafe where both were served perfectly. Arriving home relatively early we proceeded to bounce naked around the condo making more noise than was decent, until we finally both ran out of energy and settled onto the sofa. She had college class the next morning and so she left around 1 am, at which point I jumped in a taxi over to Revel in the Fort where an Aston Martin anniversary party was in full swing. Whilst Valkyrie (one of the other clubs in the same complex) is a great place to hunt if you're after girls between 20-25, if you're over 40 you can sometimes feel a little too old, but Revel is a bar for all ages, although it's sometimes a lot harder to pick up. As proved the case this night but I headed home about 3 am in a pretty relaxed mood.

Indulging a monster headache Saturday morning I had to cancel a breakfast meeting with another new girl from SKOUT, and slept until lunchtime. Whilst laying in bed I found myself amazed at all the effort I'd gone to on previous trips to ensure all my meetings were intricately scheduled and aligned. This trip I'd done none of that, and had still met three girls. Deciding it was beginner's luck I checked my phone to see who had responded from my previous day's efforts to arrange meetings. My late lunch date was a dancer from Horizon. I'd dropped in on my last trip after chatting to one of the dancers on FB (friend of a friend). That's when EMILYN came to the rescue, who I'd met through OK Cupid. We had coffee a few trips back but given time constraints and her somewhat timid nature, it seemed prudent to play a longer game with her. She's a 21 year old full time student, who had a really sweet nature and wasn't quite aware how hot she was. We'd been chatting for about 4 months and that patience had paid off because we'd managed to cover some pretty intimate territory. At this point I'd made up my mind to swing past Kojax and Dimples, then head home and pack. But the shots started. But at some point her friend left, and before I knew it she had me by the hand and we were in a taxi for the short hop to Rockwell. By the time I left for the airport early the next morning I'd had about an hour's sleep and a head that hurt so bad I thought it might fall off. I left her snoozing in bed with instructions to clear out before the cleaners arrived at 11 am.
It goes without saying, I'll be back.

Some people swear by BADOO, personally I find it a mixed bad because there are so many girls looking for serious relationships. But SKOUT is my new favorite tool. Like BADOO it basically tells you how far away each girl is, and whilst the quality can be extremely variable depending on the time of day you search, pretty much every girl I messaged replied quickly and 90% were amenable to getting fucked for money. He said he could take me to a place nearby (5 minutes from Burgos) where there were 30-40 girls in a graded fish bowl type situation. Once they see that you are not a Filipino they will ask for 4 K to 6 K and you will have to drive a hard bargain to get down to 3 K. The driver will want a cut too. Ever heard the saying never buy a pig in a poke? The girls are all fully clothed and you cannot see stretch marks, sagging guts, and floppy tits. You may have buyer's remorse back in the room. Some of the more hardcore girls will try to convince you that the 3 K or whatever you paid in the ho house does not include their fee. Do not fall for it. If you are looking for low budget poon with a lot of wear and tear, just go to LA Cafe or G-Point and cut out the middleman.

Have been to a couple of them myself, they are in a number of places around Manila. Like anywhere else, it is hit or miss. The driver gets a cut of the action. I've been to a couple houses in poblacion in Makati, taken to by a taxi driver which was a pretty cool guy.
Me and my mate found these so called "Casas" to be a positive experience. Though the manager will try to get a bit aggressive for you to tip him and it does feel a bit dodgy, the girls were very fun and very quickly became regulars for my mate and I.
3 K with no or little tip for the girl is a pretty good deal in Makati. The girls were in lingerie and changed once you chose them, around 20-30 of them in the fish bowls I've visited.

Thanks for advice.I stay at St Giles Hotel ($70), a 3 start + hotel a 100 meters from Burgos St. They love seeing their guest bringing rentals in and take their ID info for your protect.
Across the street is Red Planet ($35) and it's kind of cool w / many mongers. The room my buddy stayed in was very small but nice. Good luck w / the shame game.

Thanks for advice.Depends what you mean by good hotels but in my book that is like Fairmont, Shangri la, Ascott, Dusit and Intercontinental (closed at the moment). They are strict on security so no problem valid bring ins there.
Some medication can come in handy at times and then you have guys stating you can go to any Mercury or Watson's to collect your V pills. I've tried but always was asked for prescription from doc so I don't know how the guys claiming they buy it there do it. I found myself visiting Generika at Makati Cinema Square and I bought Rita Med (same content as Viagra). Worked like a charm.

I have asked them to stop showing baseball and put a real sport on IE rugby union LOL and they did).

As for the Red Planet you are the one who told me about it. I did like the vibe inside the lobby and sports bar. If you're traveling solo it looks like an easy place to make new friends. Mongers all over the restaurant and it had a really friendly vibe, I liked it. The hotel room however was way too small but maybe they have larger rooms for a little extra. As for the Red Planet you are the one who told me about it. I did like the vibe inside the lobby and sports bar. If you're traveling solo it looks like an easy place to make new friends. Mongers all over the restaurant and it had a really friendly vibe, I liked it. The hotel room however was way too small but maybe they have larger rooms for a little extra. I might try it out next March.

Agree the rooms are small but am there for a day or overnight en route elsewhere so am not worried. If there for a longer period it would be a larger room for sure. The food is OK nothing fancy but edible so not the finer cuisine you maybe used to LOL.

Red Planet has only one room size. How ever the standard room in Aseana City near Mall of Asia is about one meter larger.

Some medication can come in handy at times and then you have guys stating you can go to any Mercury or Watson's to collect your V pills. I've tried but always was asked for prescription from doc so I don't know how the guys claiming they buy it there do it. You make some very good points, DbPalore. I especially concur with your last two sentences. My two favorite Bottoms Burgos girls now meet me regularly at my hotel, wherever I am located in Metro Manila, so I no longer pay a barfine for them. However: I still pay them, ha ha, their 3900 p service charge, plus tips, plus dinner, plus drinks. So it is still fairly pricey evening, especially when I am doing them together in a threesome format. All I can say is it is worth it to me because 1. I like them a lot, 2. they are top, top quality, and 3. they both show me a real good time over the course of a typical 5 to 6 hour get together. Also, eliminating the bar from the picture opens up afternoon pool party, shag, and early dinner sessions which I enjoy a lot and which leaves the evening open for scouting new talent.
Now as to Burgos barfines: The situation is a little murky so I will try to clean it up and explain it better. The barfine is 3900 Bottoms, now 3500 Plan be and Kojax and 1700 or 1900 in Rogues. The barfine IS supposed to be all inclusive of up to 10 lady drinks per girl, in other words it does not matter if you order 0, 1, 2 or 10 lady drinks for your girl, the tab should be the same 3900/3500/1900p respectively not counting the drinks ordered for oneself or other girls that you choose not to barfine. So clearly the incentive is to party hardy in the bar, buy your gal 4, 5, 7, 10 Tequilas and an equal number for yourself, play around with your girl, get randy, receive BJ's in the booth among other things, buy your girl's BFF (s) a few Tequilas, ect, ect, in other words have a real good time in the bar and then take your girl back to your hotel room for the coup de grace.
The only caveat I would add to this scenario is that these days I strongly recommend reminding the mamasan of the 10 lady drink barfine rule before you go too far down the worm hole ie before you buy more than one round of Tequila or else you might have a high priced surprise at the end of the evening. For example, the last time I was in Bottoms, the mamasan, who knows me pretty well, told me there was a change in policy beginning Jan 1, 2016 and lady drinks would be added to my tab on top of the barfine. I quickly objected and told the mamasan politely in private that I was prepared to cut short my visit and leave the bar with my girls without ordering a single drink if we could not work something out which we did of course. Ha Ha. But I leave this as a warning for others to make sure of the pricing before going all in.
Lastly I hope this information does not dissuade high taste punters from visiting Bottoms, Plan Bee, and Kojax (the hottest bar at the moment). I know about the drinks being deducted from the bar fine but the drinks are usually in thimble size glasses. For me this is not exceptable and so I order one or two and I'm taking the lady out to a fresh environment. Maybe Kojax serves a regular size drink but Bottoms doesn't.
Also if you order Tequila you will receive 2/3's of a shot which I always send back for them to fill it to the top. After you send it back once the next round of shots you will get a proper pour. The BF in Kojax is 3900 if you're quick to pay, 2900 if you've been around the corner meaning they know you. I think the BF is very negotiable especially later in the evening. I think if you walk in at 3 am you can pull a dancer for 2 k, maybe less. I'd bet on it. Wish I could right now.
Also I wouldn't waste my time buying mamas drinks because they can have any drink they want anytime they want it. The only thing they want is dinero so I palm them a 100 or more depending on the circumstances. It is generally throwing money down the toilet but there might be some good that comes from tipping mamas. Amy at Kojax leaves her apple drink untouched for 30 minutes or more. It's just money, to her it's not a drink. Hell, next time I'm going to down her drink when mine runs out.

"We have many conference and convention sir. Even if no conference or convention spend the night in hotel, this place make many money. Don't need hotel customer". Doh!

I have had the same experience with Burgos girls. They become superfirendly if they like you. I have most of them of my Fake FB profile and have got to befriend a lot more girls who were not working at the time I was there. Now they are eager to meet me when I go back in December. I haven't even mentioned that I would be visiting the bar to barfine them.
Even when I was in any of the bar, as a practise I always bought a drink for the girl I took earlier night and she would also recommend me which girls would meet my taste without hang ups. No jealousy or other issues. I have always taken the girl for breakfast or lunch the other day and they have stayed with me accepting 3 k without a blink.

So ADR was low and margins not great.
Where these hotels survived was the high margins for banqueting and the low cost of labor. Tight margins FF but still survivable.

Stopped into Bottoms again as it was raining and this was the closest bar to my hotel. Place was once again mostly empty of customers with probably five times as much staff as customers. Also, seemed like the dancers were generally hotter six months ago during my last visit.
Everyone has their hand out. I wouldn't be surprised if the six guys working the bar walked over and ask me to buy them a drink. Anyway excessive enough it makes the experience much less pleasant. I will try plan be or Kojax next time and give up on th is street if they are the same.
The girl I left with was great though. I think her name was Annie. Pretty and fun to talk to with no attitude. Loves sex. She needs a bit more time in the gym (as do I) but otherwise very nice.

Bottoms and Rogues - HJ / BJ's (not to completion) are readily available from multiple girls simultaneously for the cost of a lady drink or two. (I imagine to completion would require a tip (money). I have never done that.)
As to Bottom's lack of customers: Economics 101 predicts that if the price of the barfine were reduced say 50%, demand would increase significantly. No one is more aware of this problem than the Bottoms girls themselves. They are great girls and are dying for business. This is the reason why they will skip out on the bar and deal directly with their preferred regular customers and why the mamasan looks the other way to avoid a confrontation when a popular girl doesn't come to work for a week sttaight.

Thank for your post, found it interesting since I felt that Thailand is a buyers market. I personally don't like the gogo bars and prefer playing the hunting game with the freelancers. I spent three days in Pattaya and all three in the famous Insomnia bar, where all the days went home with a beauty that I wanted with no compromise. The trick is to have patience and keep hunting till you get what you want. I am yet to step into Manila, will be arriving next month but I hope there are freelancers near MOA since I plan to stay close-by. I like the hunting came, I guess it satisfies your male ego every time you bed a beauty of your choice, never like the gogo bars to order of the menu and take them home.

Not to sound stupid here but it has been 10 years for me sense the last visit. I will be at City Garden my old favorite hotel. What can I expect to pay for a taxi to the hotel from the airport?
I will be just staying overnight and returning back to the airport the next afternoon for a domestic flight to Cebu. I did ask for a private car from the hotel but who knows if they will even show up if my memory serves me well.

Bill BuxtonThere are fixed priced Taxi outside the Terminals if I remember correct Makati is around 350-400 PHP. Also you can choose the yellow taxis that charge something around 50-100 falgfall and km used, so on my experience with MNL taxi drivers you can be charged something around 350 to 3000 . Best thing in my opinion, get a uber ride for around 120-180 PHP new and clean car, ride is registered and no hustling around with the price.

Taxis from the terminals are now much easier to find and use, and for my last 3 trips (in the past 2 months) getting a cab has been simple and I have been on my way within 5 minutes of exiting the terminal.
You didn't name the terminal at which you will arrive but there are 3 options now: regular white taxis with meters (usually longer lines); Yellow airport taxis (flagfall of 70 php so a little more expensive); and white airport "coupon taxis" that have a fixed rate to go to various places (and are most expensive).
I alternate between the yellow and the coupon taxis depending on the length of the lines.
For me, airport to Ortigas is around 300 to 350 php (with tip) on yellow taxi, and 580 php on coupon taxi. If the lines are long I always just pay the extra 200 php for convenience on the coupon taxis as they are rarely busy and lines are short.
To go to City Garden you shouldn't pay much more than 200 php on yellow taxi and around 350 for a coupon taxi (I don't have the exact fixed rate), but if you've asked for a hotel car, then expense is probably not an issue for you. Uber cars still have to get in to the airport unless they are on stand-by somewhere close, and I have found that the yellow taxis are much faster to catch and cost the same (with no rush hour loading)
I have been frequenting QC KTV's more nowadays (getting back to my Chinese roots hehe in place of my now less frequent Taiwan trips) and Kojax and Plan be as previously mentioned before still keeps on rejecting me, giving me the "this is a private party" line. I'm pretty sure it's either because I look too young, or I look Chinese.
Damn anyone going soon that can take me? LOL It's been a while since I've gone to Burgoos bars.

In Manila I use Uber almost exclusively, including when I return to the airport. However, I find it easier to take a coupon taxi from the airport, than to wait for an Uber driver to find me. Usually, if I do go to Pampanga, I go from the hotel, and I use a car and driver.

Thank for your post, found it interesting since I felt that Thailand is a buyers market. I personally don't like the gogo bars and prefer playing the hunting game with the freelancers. I spent three days in Pattaya and all three in the famous Insomnia bar, where all the days went home with a beauty that I wanted with no compromise. The trick is to have patience and keep hunting till you get what you want. I am yet to step into Manila, will be arriving next month but I hope there are freelancers near MOA since I plan to stay close-by. I like the hunting came, I guess it satisfies your male ego every time you bed a beauty of your choice, never like the gogo bars to order of the menu and take them home.My favorite place for rentals are the bars. Bill Buxton.Now that terminal 2 is confirmed, in my experience the best solution there is once you exit the international terminal take a left towards the domestic terminal, once past the pesty fixed price taxi promoters, you take the elevator (on your left) one level up to departures, walk right to the end of the driveway and queue for the normal taxis from there. Within 10 minutes you'll be on a taxi to Makati costing roughly 120 php + 20 peso for the skyway.
I believe this is by far the best solution in terminal 2 and the reason I prefer landing there over terminal 3 where the taxi lines are ridiculously long.

If they turn up on their own and you want them to come directly to your condo, they'll need to leave ID at reception.
In two years I've never had a single issue using AirBnB, can't recommend it enough. Let us know how the condo was.

Let us know how the condo was.Two thumbs up for Park Terraces and AirBnB in general. I've now used AirBnB twice in Makati. Much cheaper than booking an upscale hotel and it comes with more space to spread out and get comfortable. If you don't mind making your own bed and having to stock the fridge with breakfast food, beer, etc. , this is way better than a hotel in my opinion. The only things you lose are daily cleaning and fresh towels.
Park Terraces was excellent. Great location and the condo I booked was beautiful and massive. Large balcony that overlooked the Fairmont pool was a nice plus. No issues having guests, though security did make girls sign in if I wasn't with them at the time that they entered. No problem as long as they had an ID with them.
I had food delivered and the front desk people actually came to my condo to let me know that there was a delivery for me, confirmed I had ordered, and then let the driver up. I imagine that if you actually live there, they will call you, but I was just a guest. This led to a funny surprise later when I had a girl come over and one of the front desk women actually knocked on my condo door to ask if it was okay that the girl came up. I was confused thinking the front desk employee WAS the girl and invited her in. She got bashful, said she couldn't, and then went down to retrieve my guest.
All in all a good experience if you don't mind walking past the front desk with girls in tow. I'm sure security had their opinions of my activities, but they are paid to keep those to themselves and they did a fabulous job of it.
Based on reports here, I decided for my first time to stay in Makati so I could check out Burgos St. Airport to hotel near Burgos was about 50 minutes, which I'm told is not too bad. The area is really busy! Crazy traffic, and tons of bars. Lots of foreigners, lots of local (girls), and lots of ladyboy freelancers. Well, at least I can't be sure all the time so I'm assuming most are, LOL. Also lots of begging children, which is uncomfortable when they latch on.
Stayed at the Hotel Durban, which is being renovated. The hotel looks quite classy from the outside, and inside, while small, and no-frills, is clean and minimal in a good way. Front desk did not bat an eye when I came back with a guest, and rates were under $30 (no breakfast) due to construction. By end of December, they will have an elevator, but for now, be prepared to climb stairs. Not too bad though. I told my girl it was good exercise before our other exercise.
Went to Bottoms and then Kojax, as upthread Kojax was reported to be the place to be right now. Both are spitting images of similar type places (gogos, bars etc) in Patpong and other places all over Thailand. Bottoms had more variety in type of girl, but to my eyes (I like slim, cute GND types), only 3 or 4 were my taste out of maybe 30 girls. Girls didn't really dance or do anything, just stand and sway on the stage at both places. Had one beer and decided to check out Kojax.
Kojax on average had better looking talent in my opinion. All slimmer, and younger looking. There were a couple of girls into dancing and they were trying out their moves in the mirror while only 3-4 patrons sat and watched or chatted with a girl. Later more patrons showed up, around midnight. Mamas were very friendly. One thing I didn't like was a few girls were obviously enhanced (at least had facial plastic surgery), so who knows what else was?

Just returned from a week in Makati, sadly work managed to dominate my time but I did manage to get a few opportunities to misbehave.
Mostly hung out in Heckle & Jeckle a few streets away from Burgos. I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere there, and the flirty bar staff. Had a few quick and easy meals across the street at El Chupacabra, very tasty, cheap and easy.
Managed to get to Kojax on a Thursday evening, was relatively busy (although seemed to be mostly with Chinese / Korean looking chaps). Had a tasty little blonde come and take a seat next to me, very pretty apart from a monstrous set of braces that made her look like the Bond villain Jaws. Still she was friendly and could hold a conversation, so I bought her a few drinks. Wasn't really tempted to take her out but as I had a girl meeting me later that was never really an option.
Also checked out Jules on Burgos on the Friday night, my first time there. Quite like the setup, they seemed to rotate the pole dancers with some "girl group" dancers, and there were some lookers. Got talking to a beautiful slim girl dressed in a police outfit, she confirmed there's no bar fine there, but if the girl likes you, you can get her number and arrange sometime privately. Which I did and a lovely time was had by all.

I would probably suggest either Revel (which is attached to the same complex as Valkyrie) or Prive, generally the crowd there varies in age a bit more. Valkyrie is definitely a younger crowd where you generally don't see over-40's (I'm on the border).
The girl I was was just for fun, no money exchanged hands apart from taxi fare which I had to insist she take. Valkyrie also isn't really a spot for P4 P (both Revel / Prive would work better).
The next night, I was interested in something different. So after working during the day, I checked out Century City Mall (walking distance from my hotel) for a late lunch and also to see if there were any FLs (as I've heard there are in the malls). Not sure if Century City is the wrong place, but I didn't see any, at least none that were obvious.

Based on reports here, I decided for my first time to stay in Makati so I could check out Burgos St. Airport to hotel near Burgos was about 50 minutes, which I'm told is not too bad. The area is really busy! Crazy traffic, and tons of bars. Lots of foreigners, lots of local (girls), and lots of ladyboy freelancers. Well, at least I can't be sure all the time so I'm assuming most are, LOL. Also lots of begging children, which is uncomfortable when they latch on.
Stayed at the Hotel Durban, which is being renovated. The hotel looks quite classy from the outside, and inside, while small, and no-frills, is clean and minimal in a good way. Front desk did not bat an eye when I came back with a guest, and rates were under $30 (no breakfast) due to construction. By end of December, they will have an elevator, but for now, be prepared to climb stairs. Not too bad though. I told my girl it was good exercise before our other exercise.
Went to Bottoms and then Kojax, as upthread Kojax was reported to be the place to be right now. Both are spitting images of similar type places (gogos, bars etc) in Patpong and other places all over Thailand. Bottoms had more variety in type of girl, but to my eyes (I like slim, cute GND types), only 3 or 4 were my taste out of maybe 30 girls. Girls didn't really dance or do anything, just stand and sway on the stage at both places. Had one beer and decided to check out Kojax.
Kojax on average had better looking talent in my opinion. All slimmer, and younger looking. I've had a few girls tell me in the first few messages that they need money, but they don't seem eager to meet. One girl wanted me to send her money online first. My experience with Craigslist is quite different, but I place the ads, rather than responding to ads placed by girls / agencies. It's usually pretty easy to spot the pros / scammers among the respondents. I then videochat with those weeded out after pic exchange & email. If there's any doubt or if the girl is uneasy, we meet in a coffee shop. I usually feel safe inviting them to my place. I've met with 6 girls this way on different visits, and the experiences ranged from just OK to absolutely fantastic. Same at LA Cafe, but fewer girls, and more risk as they don't work for the bar, so if they are a scam, you are out of luck.
Can also try Havana cafe in makati for a pricier version of LA Cafe. And many lady boys.
So my advise is to head to AC for wholesale mongering. But if you are stuck in manila, then open up the wallet and get a good massage and FS for 7 k. A 2 hour massage in the US would cost you the 150 usd alone.

Alright my friend came to visit for the weekend and I decided to take him to a couple of places, didn't hit any of the "white people" places like Burgos, but instead took him to the more Asian places. Two of those places as stated in my title is Room 526 and La Maison.
First night was at Room 526. Haven't been here in maybe a year? Anyways the place looks the same, the system is the same rotational system where girls rotate unless you request them, and even then they need to rotate out for 15 minutes if they get requested by another person. The place is never crowded for some reason, but like I said all the clients I've seen in there are either rich Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, or influential high ranking government Filipinos. The actual minimum you need to spend in this place is quite low (2,000 per person for the first 90 minutes, unlimited drinks, subsequent hour after the first 90 minutes is 1,000 per person. Girls drinks generally cost somewhere between 300-350.) Requesting a girl is also quite cheap (500 per hour), but then again it's not like Burgos where you can talk to a mama-san and barfine the girls; you need actual game to get these girls to go out with you after work or during their free time. The girls who work here are general pretty and they all wear gowns / dresses; most probably half of them work part time as car show models and what not. As of this visit, I found 2 to be extremely pretty, and I am probably going to go back to see one of them and try to get her to go out with me this weekend (I was too wasted the night I went with my friend, so I didn't get her number unfortunately.) I probably ended up staying 6 hours and bought a good number of shots for the girls.
The second night was at La Maison. I had never been to this place, but I was curious to check it out since I heard Maria Ozawa was part owner. To be honest it was pretty much the same as Room 526, same prices, just more drinks to choose from in terms of what drinks you can have for the drink-all-you-can. The prices were pretty much the same too. This night I actually stayed awake and relatively sober, and managed to get the contact information of 2 girls I found worth it to keep in contact with. I heard Maria Ozawa goes and takes pictures / socializes with the clients when she's there, but we unfortunately missed her that night (she goes every other day or so I heard for a short time.) Probably ended up staying for a good 6 hours again + lots of drinks again.

Disclaimer on how much I spent: Remember that if you have good control over yourself and really don't wish to spend that much, you can technically just go in for 90 minutes pay the 2000 per person entrance fee, and talk to the girls and see how far you go; however unless you are quite charming and they like you, you won't get far with them by being a cheapskate and just paying the minimum for entrance and no girl drinks. Now obviously you don't have to spend as much as I did; usually if you spend 3 hours there and you buy your requested girl a couple of drinks, and you are charming (aka decent looks, come off as a gentleman) they will generally give you their cards to contact them or ask for your number. However there's a fine line between recruiting regular customers and actually wanting to meet you outside of their work, as they also get paid if they get clients to go back and request them. It's really up to your game if you can make something happen, but the fact that some of them are incredibly stunning makes it worth it (if you are into that kind of thing.).
I think the majority of this forum won't like this type of place as it caters to Asian style girl bars, and in general most white people (excuse my generalization) prefer the Burgos / Malate type vibe and just go for the sex, though if anyone did want to try something different this is it.

I'm generally helped by the fact that the condos I use have key-card controlled lifts, so even if the girl gets by security, getting to my floor can still prove difficult. The girl in question rode the lift up a few floors with someone else and then used the stairs. Luckily for me I didn't have someone else in the condo so was able to play it off as her being unreasonably suspicious.

This is also a very Asian type place, and you see a lot of it all over Asia, albeit slightly differing in some cases. For example, you aren't going to find any dark skinned morenas in these places, as Asians generally don't find dark skin attractive; likewise, you will see some half-white / mixed girls in these places (though the Philippines in general pales in comparison to other Asian countries.) The girl I want to see again looks half-white.

The real problem, S88, is that for many years the Philippines did little to regulate the use of pesticides in rice fields, fruit orchards, and the like, and it devastated the populations of many kinds of birds. So, slim pickings for birds in the Philippines.
But WR has offered some good advice about birds hanging around the edges in Greenbelt Mall in Makati. The birds he's referring to are sort of exotic, and possibly they hang out there because Greenbelt's designers had the good sense to build in park-like green spaces within the mall's design.

Well you can most certainly bring up the subject if you feel like you have good chemistry with a specific waitress (although be discreet about it obviously). Others are probably more qualified to comment, but I would be very surprised if some of the girls aren't looking to supplement their wages with a little off the books action.
Ultimately I suspect your success will be defined by your ability to seem like a good dude.

It would be good to know if they are off limits because I like the place and will be visiting quite often.As an H & J regular for around 15 years I would suggest that in general terms the girls are NOT available, at least not easily. Jerry (a part-owner of long-term duration), tries to cultivate the place as a sports bar and not a hook-up place, and I am sure he would frown upon his staff having liaisons (especially if it became obvious to all). He has no problems about guys dropping in for a few beers and a game of pool before heading off to Burgos bars in search of a wife for the night.
As others have explained, if you are a 'regular" and get to know the girls (or a specific girl), then you might be able to eventually meet up with her outside of the bar at some time. However, if H&J is your regular hangout, you might "dirty the nest" if you hook up with one of the waitresses and it leaks out that you did so. It might change the ambience in the bar next time you go in, and because the girls do not see themselves as bargirls they might draw all manner of conclusions about you.
I have got to know several of the girls over the years quite well and they are very very good at making you feel 'desirable" and they can be very flirtatious too, but remember that it is their job. One of the sexiest and most flirtatious of all the girls has 3 kids and a hubby, and you wouldn't know unless you were told.
My advice would be to enjoy H&J; enjoy the attention of the waitresses and the flirty behavior and eye candy, but treat it as foreplay and then take your P4 P desires to one of the Burgos bars where there are many more equally attractive girls available with no drama.

With all the middle easterners in the place, they really have changed from the Asian theme they had years ago when they catered to Koreans. But they left the Nativity Scene in the Lobby for Christmas which is an odd choice with so many Muslim men staying there.

The place is little different than many places in phils that have no Maitre 'D' / Hostess in charge of greeting / seating guests. You seat yourself, then hope to God that the wait staff notices you. When I am alone, I often must wave my hand to get the attention of wait staff. From a newbie western perspective, its embarrassing (for the newb). If you don't waive your hand to get noticed, you might easily sit indefinitely to be noticed (also embarrassing). Its often easier to walk right over to wait staff before seating myself and point to an open table and say: I'm sitting there; can you get me a menu? I was also in the province recently and went to a pizza place with my girl and several of her friends. We seated ourselves, and finally the girls went to the counter to get menus (no wait staff came to deliver menus). After deciding foods, the girls went to the counter to have a waitress write our order on a pad. Later the waitress brought the food. In fact, you could sit there all night before the waitress brings the bill, you must ask for that also.

In case of misunderstanding of BD's terminology about so-called "generics pharmacies', I can assure you that if you go into any of the mainstream places (like Mercury Drug and Watsons) and ask for generic sildenifil (aka viagra) or generic tadalifil (aka cialis) you can purchase it no questions asked.In my somewhat limited experiences I have found that even explicitly asking for a "generic" in Mercury or other name brand pharmacies, the prices were significantly higher than for a generic of the same medicine in a generics pharmacy. These were my experiences, and I can't say for certain that the differences are systematic. Of course, doing business with generics pharmacies implies placing trust in governmental regulation and monitoring, and assuming that you're actually getting a legitimate medicine when buying from the generics store.
I have assumed that prices are often higher in stores that are typically located in more expensive real estate, have more employees, engage in extensive advertising, and are able to set prices and count on customer loyalty based partially on name recognition.
Have others had different experiences?

So I was hoping somebody with more experience would answer, but since not.
The short story is, SIM cards in the Philippines work a bit differently from many places: you pick your plan after buying the SIM card, and you can change them pretty much at will.
I ended getting the Prepaid LTE SIM from Globe, which cost me the princely sum of 40 pesos (<US $1). After activation, send an SMS as instructed, and you'll get (at time of writing) a generous quota of 60 MB data "for free", expiring in three days. Coupled with judicious use of the hotel Wifi to download offline Google Maps, this was perfectly sufficient for a few days; if you need more juice, just load 10-99 pesos (US $0. 10-2. 00) and activate a GoSURF pack for 40-200 MB credit, plus free usage of various key services (Facebook, Spotify, YouTube etc).
I didn't try it myself, but I understand the other operator Smart offers essentially the same deal & prices. There were also booths at the airport offering "free" SIM cards for travelers, although once you charge credit, I'm fairly sure these are a worse deal than what they offer the locals!
Update: Having now tested both, I've found Globe's coverage and speeds to be notably superior to Smart's. Comparing the lines at the airport booths, others seem to agree.

The generic pharmacies around Ortigas Center in Manila are situated in the malls as well so the rental costs with Mercury / Watsons etc are comparable.
The larger chain stores can actually set lower prices (or comparable anyway) to the generics because they have greater volume sales and much greater exposure. I compared prices of a generic amoxycillin derivative today and it was cheapest in Mercury Drug, then the Generic with Watsons most expensive. I will try to do a comparison of Sildenifil too. As a side note, I always feel a little uneasy going into the generic shopfronts as though they are a second-rate option and only for the indigent in the population, but this is probably just a quirk of mine.
At the end of the day, we are talking about a relatively insignificant number of pesos anyway.

The off-shoot providers mentioned by BM are frequently over-subscribed for the prevailing infrastructure and with patchy service and my friends who try them invariably eventually switch back to Globe or Smart.

Depending my location (in the province at that), I was pulling 40 and 60 mbps download.
I always buy them at Mercury in one for main malls. I know they may be a bit expensive but I prefer buying the real stuff rather than fear it may be a knock off. A huge plus is that sometimes if I need an emergency dosage the shops sell them individually. E. g 1 tab of 5 MG. I tried the generic once and it didn't do the stuff for me and it was very weak.

I got fairly drunk one night in Makati recently. I was not in the mood for a girl (all sexed out from the province). Girl #2. Admittedly she's not that pretty, but she's a no-holes-barred lover where nothing is off the menu, and a horny critter who needs sex. One of her mainstay guys disappeared 2 years ago. She was stuck at the hotel with her dumb phone. She could only watch TV and txt her mother to check on the kids. Her phone won't internet. She said she was missing her kids and felt bad the entire time. On the last morning he asked her to go with him to NAIA. In the car on the way there he handed her 37 k, telling her that he had too much pesos and he didn't want to lose money changing them back to AUD. Was she thrilled? Of course. 15 K becomes 37 k for: No sex. She said to me she would never again leave her kids like that (I've invited her to stay with me 24 hours but she's refused).
Girl #1 has an occasional visiting client from the US. He is 76 and she's been with him for years. There has been no sex for years. He just enjoys her company and she likes cooking (the adobo girl) for him. She sees him in the evenings, cooking for him, helping him around town when they go out (he has trouble walking), and shopping for him (not with him). I admit I made a mistake. I should start contributing more to this place. That's why I have just bought a membership and I promise to write here my experience in Philippines after visiting there (March).There are very few things you can't learn by setting an hour aside and going back through the last 100 pages. Not only will you learn more about the culture and typical frustrations that regular visitors experience, you'll also find many of the answers to your questions (where the good bars are, what to pay, how to meet girl's through other channels etc).
The other typical mistake is to over-prepare. Trust me, nothing is going to prepare you for your first night out in Manila (especially if it's at or near Burgos). That's half the fun, leave some wiggle room for adventure and the unexpected.

As a general note, please do not keep excess load on your phone. The phone companies will steal your load over time.
For instance, as I arrive at 11 pm at night, my plan would then expire at 11 pm in 7 days time. Now if I was otherwise occupied at the time when the text says "Plan expired, you are now on casual rate" by the time I wake in the morning, my iphone and its background data traffic will have used up all of the remaining load. I've never tried the airport SIM booths, as I first received a local SIM (Smart) from my workplace when I was working for a local firm, and have used it ever since (getting load in 7 Eleven or any other local Sari sari).
Is there a way to use these tourist plans while keeping my local number? I have already had this number for the past 5 years and wish to keep it as all my local friends already use it.
As for the local telco companies, I agree. I found that when using a Smart SIM, it automatically installs an app called "Sim Services". This allows you to retrieve information and purchase package with your load. Purchasing an unlimited 3 G package for seven days is around 100 p or less, can't remembe the exact figure.
As for being abroad and losing load, I remember any load bought is only good for 3 months if I'm not mistaken. This is relative to the time it was first activated on the phone.

Pretty sure you can just use it with any prepaid Globe SIM / number.
My preference is to keep work / friends on one number. I pickup a new number each trip for the collection of newbie girls. The keepers will get promoted to my other number.
I had a feeling on one of my early trips that I was using the one number for my employees and for my dating contacts. With one of the dating contacts I just had a feeling that she was also in my workplace and recognised my number. Never got to meet her.

For those who may be interested in the occasional "fine dining" experience, I can heartily recommend the new French Provençal restaurant on the ninth floor of Raffles. Two years in the making, it's a beautiful place, with fresh flowers, candles on the table, indirect lighting and ample room that allows for plenty of space around each table. The menu and wine list are well balanced, the Chef de Cuisine is French and does a great job with the food and the servie is impeccable. The name of the restaurant in Meleio. It's not an inexpensive place, but it's great for a special dinner with someone whose company you really enjoy.
There's also a restaurant bar and terrace overlooking the Makati skyline on the 10th floor, accessible through an internal stairway at the restaurant. The terrace bar offers a wide selection of drinks and finger foods and is open till midnight. It too, is very romantic with comfortable seating and great service.

Arrived into NAIA late afternoon (hand luggage only) and was pleasantly surprised to be at my condo in Rockwell only 50 minutes after wheels down. Luck of the draw. Had my favorite 21 year old waiting in a nearby coffee shop and we spent the new few hours getting reacquainted. Had planned to meet date no 2 later in the evening, and couldn't decide whether we should head to dinner in Makati or BGC.
After a great burger and some craft ale at hole in the wall we decided on a few drinks at Treehouse (formerly Hooters) followed by hitting Royal. Treehouse seems to have changed owners / name again and didn't look particularly inspiring so we headed to Heckle & Jeckle which was buzzing. Weather was perfect for sitting outside on the terrace, not humid at all.
At Royal we grabbed a table and my date (a mid-20's DJ who is currently in the process of moving to Doha for 6 months to work at a hotel club) introduced me to some of her friends. They all seemed like a lovely bunch, all except for one American guy who, it became clear, was of the Trump persuasion. As I was the only other westerner in earshot he decided I would be keenly interested in hearing his world view, which mostly consisted of how great 'Merica was going to be once his Orange hero took office. Now this board isn't for politics and to each his own, but I have to admit to being a little irked by people with superiority complexes based on their nationality. I've met many Americans in Manila (and across Asia) and always enjoyed their company, even if we were ideologically opposed. This guy however was just the worst. Loud, obnoxious, and utterly devoid of self awareness.
Not wanting this to sour anyone's evening, I suggested quietly to my date that we relocate to the bar and continue getting to know each other better. You can imagine my surprise when 5 minutes later my ear is once again filled with the dulcet tones of (let's call him) Brad, who has abandoned his 4 girls to come join us. After 10 minutes of this I politely had to explain that 3 is a crowd, to which he gets incredibly sulky, calls me an "asshole" and stomps off back to his table. Charming.
Not wanting to spend my usual Sunday in Manila with a raging hangover, we headed back to my condo "early" at about 2 am and a lovely time was had by all.

I was in Phil the first 2 weeks of January. I book an airbnb by Jazz Mall and one morning I needed to have company so I started checking out potential girls in Wechat. " It was remodeled and given a different name, but I can't remember what it is. I was at Kojax last night and was told by Raffi, one of the mamasans, of the new policy. Even Kojax didn't seem to have the number of girls last night that I recall being on display there, and I was there fairly early so I doubt many had yet been taken for the evening. It did seem to me that Plan be, where I had been briefly the night prior, had more ladies.

Landed at 8. 45 pm at Terminal 1 and the Gods were smiling, no queue at passport control, and with only hand luggage I was in a taxi less than 15 minutes after exiting the plane. I had planned on meeting a rather special 22 year old who has recently broken up with her American BF (she caught him cheating. The crowd was 99% local, but the atmosphere was great and it wasn't so loud as to negate conversation. Whilst there definitely are girls worth 4-5 k in Manila, you won't find them at LAC (or Burgos).Burgos is not a cheap punting place, unless you negotiate with a FL or LB on the street. By the time you factor in beers, LDs, bar fines and the girls fee, you are looking at international, first world type prices for a girl in 6-8 range. The difference is that's more fun, the weathers warm and the girl will usually go LT and not be on the meter. I'm always impressed just how affectionate filipina girls can be after just knowing them for 5 minutes.

Rant first:
So a while back I had booked a flight with Philippine Airlines one way from Jakarta to MNL for a typical Wednesday afternoon. But a couple of days ago I received an email from the airline informing me that my reservation had been changed to Thursday. IE the airlines had cancelled my afternoon Wednesday flight. Obviously I was not to happy about this because I had relied on the airlines and had booked non refundable hotel reservations in both CGK and Manila.
I am in BKK at the moment (having a great time BTW) so rearranging my plans is like the last thing I want to waste time to do. But I Skyped the 1-800 number of Philippine Airlines and talked to a friendly Pinay reservationist. She told me a 12:45 am Wednesday flight was available (check in late Tuesday night), but that sucked because it would kill my last night in Jakarta so I was forced to cancel my reservation with Philippine Airlines (full money refund in 6 weeks) and book the next best alternative: a 6:25 am flight to MNL with a stop over in KUL for less money, but 3 extra hours, and a very early wake up Wednesday morning. Thank you very much Philippine Airlines. Next time I will avoid booking your CGK to MNL flight.

I am into the 3rd week of my Asian trip. Having a really good time. I kicked things off in MNL where I spent 7 nights with my 2 favorite Filipinas while staying at the Peninsula Hotel. Nice Hotel, great swimming pool, excellent rate from Expedia. 1st night solo with Sara. Nights 2 to 6 menage a trois w / Sara and Michelle, and last night solo with Michelle. I know, I know, I spend too much time with my favorites LOL, but these girls like to party and so do I. We consumed a bottle of Tequila and 1/2 a bottle of Mezcal. Landed at 10:30 pm and was able to get thru immigration in 10 minutes. Suit case took 20 minutes. 10 minutes to change currency for taxi and the night's fun 1 usd for 49.90 (didn't think I'd get a good rate on the street so late at night) Thought I went to the metered taxi line (received the receipt and everything) but maybe I didn't because the driver didn't use the meter. At the hotel the driver didn't say anything so I paid 300 pesos without any problems from the driver (airport to Makati hotel).
Checked in and hit P Burgos at midnight. Went to Kojax first, one of my favorite stops. Grabbed a beer and took in the sights. Managed to swing by Makati "on the way' from Singapore to HK. Had planned to meet a buddy on Burgos for a catch up and good old fashioned perv, so I was annoyed when having booked the front row on CP and having landed, we deplaned from the bloody middle doors and not right where I was stood. You would have been at XOXO downstairs rather then Kojax upstairs. In actual fact I was there last night. The two slim attractive mamasans were working (I can't remember their names. A lot of the core Kojax girls don't tend to like to work downstairs. I have a suspicion I saw you. You don't get any real fugglies at Kojax / XOXO / PlanB and generally you won't get hassled by girls approaching uninvited (although you might get some girls proposing to play games). The business model at a lot of other bars is you get attacked by the fugglies and you have to fight them off with the better looking girls are dancers on the stage. Hopefully you are still around till Thursday as the current opening schedule is the downstairs XOXO is Sunday to Wednesday and Kojax upstairs is Thursday to Saturday. Kojax is a better experience than XOXO in my opinion so worth seeing Kojax. A friend of mine who on occasions I have gone bar hopping with have a competition to choose at each bar who we each think would be their first choice. 2nd Night Out.
I made a much broader sweep on my 2nd night out. First I decided that I had to see LA Cafe because I never had and secondly for the other possibilities close by. There were some good reports on the board not long ago about fun to be had on Mabini Street "close to LA Cafe". OK, I entered LA well armed with what what to expect which was so true at 8 PM on a Monday night. The first hopeful dragon's technique to get me to notice her was to block my way with her leg while half tripping me. She and her companion make most of the ladies in BKK's Soi 7 Beer Garden look good. I made my way upstairs because I erroneously had the impression "that's where the pool tables are". Well they are but they are also downstairs. Anyway I had 1 drink and watched some pool but actually I wanted to check out the Mabini St bars with "nice ladies for 2,000". When I went downstairs it was PACKED so I did a lap to take it in. I passed by one who caught my eye and apparently she knew it and approved. I kept going and may have missed something good. The crowd included many who apparently were too good for me instead of just the over the hill group. Outside I was shocked by 2 instances of open trafficking. Probably mothers and daughters. I headed one street over to Mabini then turned right. That lead to a row of karaoke bars. I did a you-turn and went the other way. A couple of touts fell in with me and pointed out the "Christmas lights" in the distance. Then no matter what I said the older of the 2 would not drop off and leave me to it. I enter a long single wide shop house bar. On the right is the full length bar. On the left are 20 or so seated entertainers. I pull up a seat at the bar and get a drink. The mama invites me to pick a lady to sit with me. I see 3 other customers in the place. We are all older than the entertainers. A male duo is on a small stage at the end singing and playing live music. Down near the end I see a gem in the otherwise forgettable lineup. When I call her over she makes a slight frowny face and I can see she was involved with her phone as she stands to come to the bar. We make our intros and she has even more physical appeal up close. I soon thereafter decide that she is not into me, or her job, or both. No spark to be seen and I can't hear her as we get through the time it takes her to drink her beer. As that beer gets low and I'm kind of gathering myself to head out the mama tells me the bar fine "is 4000". I laugh a little and get up to use the wc, she quickly comes down to 3,000. I stroll down the way to the wc. As I come out the tout is there and he "has talked the mama down to 2,000". I run the gauntlet of the girls to get back and pay up and could not resist holding up 4 fingers, then dropped to 3, then to 2 as I reached my seat. Alcohol consumption has loosened my inhibitions and stripped away my common sense. I give the bartender lady my small change and hit the door. I decide to get off of Mabini and go back to LA cafe to see if the one is there who I passed by. The place is jammed and I am surprised to find a seat at the bar. She is gone. There is no shortage of FL's worth a 2nd look but they do not give me one. I have one drink, call a GrabTaxi and go to Plan be in Makati.
