I just bought LP's latest edition (2003) on the Philippines. They mention several hotels and inns in Makati that are in the P1300 - P1900 range. Just wondering if any are guest friendly. The hotels and inns are:

Robelle House, Jupiter Arms, City Garden, Great Eastern, Fersal Tourist Inn, El Cielito Inn, and Charter House (the Charter House on Legaspi Street).

Anyone know how they deal with lady guests?

Just got back from Cebu yesterday from a rougher than normal ferry ride. After almost two months down south its good to be back in Metro Manila. I recommend take a hotel first night, spend next morning to walk around. Plenty of hotels from 2000P++, 35-40USD++.

I usually stay at the Manila Pavilion, (formerly the Holiday Inn) in Ermita. I usually get the Balikbayan Rate which was $60.00 last March. My wife is there when we check in, but the last time I went by myself. I still registered as Mr. & Mrs. so that there would be no question with security. I guess since I'm somewhat a regular, they just give me the rate no matter what.

The City Garden was definitely guest friendly when I stayed there two weeks ago. It's also in a good location for Burgos Street. The roof top pool has a jacuzzi(cold water) and there's a gym. The rate was something like 2200.

Definitely try City Garden hotel, I've been staying there for about 4 years now whenever I'm in town. Nice roof top pool, gym and all around service - also lots of restaurants across the street.

I lived at the Robelle house for a couple of months a few years back and they were hip to the scene. The rooms were not great though but the pool and the parrots were unforgettable. I have stayed at all the other places too you mention except the charter house and they were all girl friendly. Makati and Pasay clubs will forever remain in my heart.

I always kinda thought the Robelle house was like my little secret. City Garden was very nice. Don't forget the short stay hotels in Pasay that are designed for the hobby. Reputedly the only thing in the P. I. that actually works.

Quick report from my first week in Makati. Stayed on P.Burgos street and the good news is I hardly ever made it into the clubs since there are so many lookers roaming the streets and just looking for someone to latch onto. First night I hadn't walked 200 feet when I ran into a young lady by the name of Sally and went for a drink at the filling station. Not a stunner but very nice and introduced me to two more of her friends that night for a very intense party. Once she got to know my tastes I met another half dozen of her friends in various combinations over the next few nights. Haven't even made it to the LA Cafe for a look after all I read here a few months back. Look for pictures in the photo gallery and, yes, even though it's in none of the pictures, I AM wearing a huge grin at this point.

I did see the Astor this week and it is within easy walking distance to the action. I did not look very promising from the outside but I didn't go inside either. I would look over the last month in this thread and you'll find a lot of info on hotels.

I have stayed in both and there's not much to choose. The Mandarin is a little more convenient to P. Burgos Street and the rest of the flesh pots of Makati. The Dusit is a bit closer to Greenbelt and it's attractions like Club Havana. Both are legitimate 5 star places, both have good service and both have decent restaurants.

You may be able to get a silghtly better rate at the Dusit than the Mandarin.

I WARN YOU, do not pick up girls on the street. They are notoriously bad news.
I know you are thinking you are getting a bargain, but, 90% of the girls on the street are kicked out of bars there for some reason or another. For example, if they fail their STD check, or if they have stolen or whatever, they sometimes end up on the street.

It sounds like your situation turned out ok. But, for the vast majority of street walkers its bad news. Believe it or not there is some security in getting a girl out of the bar. Most notably, if she does anything wrong, or if she doesn't perform, you can always go back to the Mamasan at the bar and demand satisfaction.

these are just my 16 years of experience the in PI, and from what I know of the bar and street scene there. Its just my recommendation.

I agree with lalake. It is not safe for tourists to be hooking up with street ladies. One just has to read the newspapers regularly to know that there are many unsuspecting tourists that often get robbed (sometimes worse) by overly friendly women who give them spiked drinks...

Unless you have a reliable local tour guide, its better to stick with the establishments.

Just a couple of days ago, a chinese national was robbed and beaten when he picked up a street walker in the Mabini area. They checked into a hotel of the girls recomendation. She went into the bathroom to "ready" herself then out comes two guys who beat the guy up and robbed him of his wallet. The guy was lucky he didn't get killed. He is doing his recovery at the Chinese Hospital where I was visiting a old prospect I've been working on.

Be careful where you pick up your girls. Watch out for scams and do not let your guard down. Girls on the street are also most likely not to be clean. Remember, penicillin doesn't cure everything.

where do i begin ? let me start by saying that this was my first trip to the philippines (manila area mostly) and that my experiences in a few short days there outweighed my expectations. that being said, i arrived at manila airport late at night having taken the cathay pacific flight out of hong kong with an arrival of 2345. by the time i arrived at the hotel (intercontinental makati) it must have been at least 0130. all the way along the road, i kept a watchful eye out for possible entertainment venues, but i was mostly trying to stay seated in the back seat as the taxi driver was negotiating the grand prix de manila. i concluded that the heavy traffic in the daytime is the only factor that keeps road speeds down. once at the hotel, i contemplated going out to burgos street, but decided to sleep instead. the jet lag of the flight from jfk to hong kong just a few hours earlier had begun to creep in.

for those of you contemplating hotels in makati, i strongly recommend the "intercon". the rates are acceptable, the location is good, and the breakfast buffet at the jeepney is very good. on top of that, no one at the hotel will bother you if you decide to have an overnight guest. no one said anything to me, but i thought it was almost expected of me to not be unaccompanied.

over the next few nights, i had the opportunity to sample many of manila's entertainment venues as i was brought there mostly by my filipino business acquaintances. they must have immediately identified me as a hard core mongerer. there is quite a scene along quezon avenue in quezon city of "gentlemen's clubs" that cater to the male filipino crowd. the girls there are mostly those with the physical characteristics preferred by my filipino brothers. but what the hell ? i could not offend my hosts ! so i ended up spending a few hours with a tall, light skinned, busty gal in one of the private rooms of the club. we talked about a variety of things including her upcoming trip to japan to work in nagasaki. i am sure her bustiness will endear her to our japanese brothers. anyway, we had a lot of fun. oh, i almost forgot. better to bring your own condoms. especially if you feel you might be a bit constricted by the locally available ones. the local variety (or should i say the ones available at this club) are difficult to put on and are so tight they become uncomfortable. overall though, a great time with a friendly intelligent girl. i recommend the quezon avenue clubs.

The New World Hotel is not a 5 star hotel like Shang or Peninsula but the rooms and service are pretty good. It is also just across from Greenbelt/Glorietta--one of the major shopping and hang-out areas in Makati.

I would go for New World over Dusit.

You're not that far from Stardust on Quezon Ave. Just take a taxi from your hotel, make sure he turns on the meter - should be less than a 100 Pesos.

Ask for Mommy Mercy (great mamasan), tell her a couple of guys from the US/America sent you and she'll show you the ropes.

if you want to be even more safe, and you are with more than 1 or 2 friends.
I recommend taking a "hotel taxi" one way or even hiring it from the hotel for a few hours. I know the cost coz I stay at the Shangri-La Makati, and pay for their car-hires (there are several levels, and the bottom level is not that expensive) for a few hours which usually costs me about 1200pesos. I know some may say that's expensive, but, hell, its only $20 US for a few hours and for a driver to wait for you and make sure you get home safely.

Lalake suggested using the hotel's car instead of a cab.

On the one hand, this is far more expensive: 1200+ pesos instead of 200-300 pesos for most trips. It is also less convenient: at the Makati Shangrila where I usually stay, you have to arrange ahead of time for their car, whereas you can just walk down to the traffic circle by Starbucks and flag a cab immediately anytime day or night.

On the other hand, it is a tiny bit safer and less stressful for newbies. Although I always take cabs, I did have one minor bad experience where the driver refused to turn on his meter and was clearly going the wrong way. I made him stop in the middle of Makati Avenue, hopped out in the middle of the street, and jumped in a cab going the opposite way (which took me directly to my destination with no problem).

Several readers here have suggested "Jay R." as the best of both worlds: a personal guide who knows the scene and will wait for you, but that is also not that expensive for long excursions. I have no personal experience with him, but several regulars vouch for him. You can use the newly-enabled search feature to find his phone number by searching for "Jay".

I have never had to sign any ladies in at the New World and I stay there exclusively when in Makati. I have had a few situations where a bell man stepped to me to motion me to the front desk when I was bringing in a girl, but I simply wave him away saying no need. They never caused any problem.

I know of no other entrance into the New world other than the front entrance with the metal detectors. What wine bar entrance are you speaking of?

On a round Asia business trip I had scheduled four days in Manila. Arrived from Beijing at 11PM Saturday night, had to travel on a Chinese Airline which is not my idea of fun so arrived in Manila tired and strung out.

Obivously the best cure for this is a dose of filipino room service - I was staying at the Makati Shangrila and Burgos St beckoned. After a shower I first check out the bar in the Shangrila , a couple of FL were operating but nothing that took my fancy.

To get some exercise I walked down to Burgos St, the first thing that struck me was the sheer number of SW's on Makati Avenue at mid-night, it seemed that every 10 metres I was getting propositioned.

Went straight to Stardust, only four customers in the bar - I was going to leave when I saw a GRO that took my fancy. Her name was Aby aged 25 and claimed to be a mature business student - good english, excellent body - bigger than the average Filipino just as I like them.

I BF'd her and took her back to the Shangril, no problems or questions getting her in - excellent GFE, was one of these girls that wanted reassurance - 15 minutes sat down with her talking in general did wonders , she then threw herself 100% into our bed activities. OK, I was here in March and posted a couple of honest reports then, but I am still surprised at the amount of people who still post questions that can easily be found by just using the search facility. If you are new to the Philippines, no you don’t require someone to hold your hand and show you how to have a good time, just take my advice, take your time and scroll through the old post of the last year to get an idea of what to expect. However, if you still require someone to guide you around, I do question why they let you out of your home country in the first place. Gentlemen just spend a couple of hours scrolling through the old posts, there is a wealth of information contained in the post so if you require information RTFF.

My second rant is that I am trying to my bit to keep the quality of the posts, on this forum valid, because when travelling I always make a point of reading through the whole of the forum of a particular country, but compared to Brazil, Thailand, Japan, Dominican Republic and various others the only forum that has a too much bogus information, such as, all these people “who claim” to find beauty queens for 500 Pesos (U$7/£5/€7) all night, then kick them out in the morning, but strangely enough never have a photo or anything to back up their claims. Fortunately, this type of mis-information (bullshit) is becoming far and few between now. But, I still maintain that a great deal of the information associated with the LA Café was bogus and grossly exaggerated by certain individuals pushed with a hidden agenda here.

Just a couple of general points, first, I am starting off in Manila, Makati and staying at the City Garden Hotel, the main reason its offers DSL internet connection, its close to Burgos Street and all the action it offers. Plus the facilities here are nice for the price I am paying and this hotel is guest friendly, although the first room I went into the DSL connection was not working there, citygardenhotels.com

Second, the most important thing you require when you come here is a cell phone so bring your GSM enabled cell and buy a Smart sim card when you arrive and give the number to as many females as possible, I can assure many will be texting you soon. I won’t say too much about cells here because this area has already been covered in great detail in previous posts. My pre-paid cost only 350 Pesos (U$6/£3/€5) with 50 Pesos (U$.88/£.50/€.71) of calls

Third, how to bring money, OK I am fortunate that I am staying in Makati within a short walking distance of the major banks and ATMs galore here; but I have said this before and will say it again, you don’t need to bring large amounts of cash around with you unless you are doing it for tax reasons or are a drug dealer. I know there are many of you who favour cash but its risky and you make yourself a target and like most cities in the world most of criminally minded would also prefer taking cash rather than credit cards from you. Again I suggest you use the search facility because I know this subject has been covered in great detail.

I have also been corresponding with a couple of other girls, who I expect to meet up with during my visit here, I text a couple with my number so they can contact me when I arrived but hopefully more about them later.

So six months had gone by and what changes have taken place, hmmmm let me think…….? Well, I have been keeping in touch with a couple of the girls in AC who I met back in March with the odd e-mail and telephone calls here and there, but one of them has now had her baby, (not mine); the second one who told me at the time she was considering an offer to go to Japan, to work as an entertainer despite my reservations, as I have seen what some of these entertainers are expected to do when I was there last year, not all mind you but its difficult to tell the good from the bad, and she is now somewhere working in Japan. OK I arrived late at night and by the time I checked into my room and quickly threw out my items from my bag; I was in need of a massage, to help me get over the effects of a long-haul flight. Armed with a copy of the Manila Bulletin I called up one of the many massage place, after the third call I had one girl come around but to be honest it was just coming up to 1am by this time and to be honest frank she was useless, there were actually more things she wouldn’t do that would, all she would do is a hand job and no feel around either?? I think I screwed up while submitting the original report. Anyway, in case it didn't go thru. I was in Makati about a month ago. Stayed at the Intercontinental, nice hotel. Was told it's one of the first hotels in Makati area. Still looks good but anyway the location was great since it's just across the road from Glorietta.

Had been doing a lot of meetings & finishing up proposals for 2 days & finished the last one quite late. It was already 11pm by the time I got back to the hotel. I had no trouble with the hotel staff, all were very nice & didn't give me any trouble with the girls. While there's nothing much in terms of entertainment in the hotel itself, they don't seem to mind you bringing it in yourself or in this case, someone bringing it in for you.

Honestly, you could not make this up if you paid me.Then they spent close on an hour ringing around trying to find somewhere for him to stay. They then asked me if there were cheap places to stay in locally but I replied this is Makati and not Ermita or somewhere like that. Anyway, after nearly an hour he or she gets into a taxi to go to some friend, in Manila but he needed taxi money, which Caron makes a point of telling me that was her last 300 Pesos, (U$5/£3/€4) like I asked him or her to come down here, I wished him luck with the operation and hoped that would be the last I saw of him for the evening, it was 9.30pm and Caron was saying she was tired through walking about in Ayala Mall, which was good for me, but she still held onto the phone.

So finally, we retired to my room she has already annoyed me because what does she do, when we get to the room, yes she went to the minibar to grab some stuff to eat especially as we had just come out of, one of the two 7-11 within ten minutes from here, and I asked if she wanted anything and she said no but grabs some overpriced minibar items the moment we get back to the room. On one hand she is saying she lost 1,000 Pesos taking a day off work, when I know she only makes 150 Pesos a day, she had forgotten she told me this back in an e-mail, then she was saying she is not leaving my room until she gets some more money because she has debts to pay, and I say she is welcomed to stay but I am not giving her any money apart from what I had agreed for her mother’s medicine and it was take it or leave it situation. She then kept saying: ”You fuck me and give me a 1,000 Pesos?”(actually, it was 1,500 Pesos she has forgotten the 500 Pesos I had sent her the day before), then kept going on about how she had to pay for her cousin as well.

I ask her again, if she a prostitute because the money she must have been expecting is way more than I was going to give her, especially as she was looking for a new cell phone as well, on top of what she claimed she would be loosing from not going to work, forgetting that her transsexual cousin told me how much they earn a week and it was not what she was quoting me here because their rent, they live together, is 1,000 Pesos (U$18/£10/€14) per month. But in my opinion I think she was a bit out of touch here because for some reason she must have been thinking I was going to give her five thousand Pesos plus or something like that for what? For that sort of money I could have got myself a Filipina movie star, a real beauty queen or something like that or even found a straight forward couple of hookers and it would not have cost me that. I have no plans to see this one again despite when she was leaving my room to go back to Subic she was all lovey dovey again, wanting to see me when I come up to Angeles City – it’s a good thing I didn’t tell her where I am staying there.

Does anyone know if there is a soap opera running with this type of thing in it, because thinking back it looked staged to me the tantrum and maybe she picked this idea up from the TV?

Reached Traveller Inn around 11pm, not bad if you look at its building, maybe they just repainting it not long ago. Check in to the hotel(3 rooms cost us P4960). I don't think you will see her again but I did have one wiered experience where someone kept knocking at my door at 3 or 4 in the morning after an earlier discussion. If you're staying longer, change rooms OR ask the front to not give you name and number out.

Day Four:

We then got down to the negotiations and I was still in two minds about actually taking them back to my room or going to a short stay hotel. Their names were Nichol and Apple; eventually, I thought I would take them into my room, because I thought they looked trustworthy. I had agreed with them that depending on the service delivered they would be paid accordingly, they initially asked for 1,500 Pesos (U$26/£15/€22) each, I said we will start off at 500 Pesos (U$9/£5/€7) and if the service was good they would get more, they promised a very good service, but first of all I went to 7-11 to get some provisions to save them raiding my minibar.

In the room I locked up all my shit in the safe whilst they were taking a shower, the girls came out I took another quick shower and we got down to business, one thing I respected them for was not touching anything they didn’t even put on the television, which is a pet hate of mine especially as I don’t pay them to watch TV.

These girls were good and I would rate in looks at 5-6 if it wasn’t for the tits Apple could have been a 7 and they kept their promise that they did everything I asked for and never complained once, the service they offered was a solid 10. I did not ask for anal nor did I want it but everything else was provided. Day Five

OK its time I had a rest up a bit on this day, I have been unable to post because I have been somewhat distracted with other things all will be revealed later; the night before the two girls had definitely left their mark on me, literally, and worked my body, being honest my poor body can’t cope with all this although my mind is telling me yes, yes, yes. I learned about P. Burgos, but when I went there tonight I was shocked to learn that the bar fines are 2000-3000. I can't believe guys are really paying that - PLUS the girl's fee. Try the EDSA complex for a little more "middle of the road" experience without having to go as low as street walkers.

Listen to Firedick, he gives good advice. If you go to EDSA you can get one of the girls for about PhP2,000 inclusive of her time and the bar fine. There are so few foreigners hanging around the complex now, and so many girls, that you should have a wide selection from which to choose.

If you insist on P. Burgos, just tell the girl of your dreams that you do not pay bar fines, and arrange to meet her later. The odds are she will agree, and you will not pay more than PhP2,000 for keeping her overnight.

Alternatively, you could come to Davao, have the same or a better selection, and never worry at all about the price.

Last night after giving up on the stiff Burgos bar fines, I checked out the bar at Makati Shangri-La (where I had luck last time), found nothing, and began to walk back to my hotel. At this point it was 11:30pm and too late, because of work the next morning, but there were two ladies sitting at the Starbucks at Glorietta, and one of them called me over with her eyes. (Gloria Jeans is another place where they hang out.)

I sat down. I was much more interested in her friend, who was less outgoing but better looking. I managed to get that one's phone number and arranged for a visit Thursday evening. When I called tonight she seemed glad to hear from me.

I spent the evening with her, drinks first, then plenty of conversation back at the room, finally some fun in the shower and FS in bed. CBJ on offer, I did not ask for BBBJ. It all depends on the ladies, I always pay between 1K to 1500 Pesos for overniters but I get these girls either after work late in the evening or the next day. Also, it helps if you frequent a particular KTV/BAR but this all depends on how much free time you have.

My buddy and I would go to a KTV, table a few girls over the course of the evening and see who's willing to hook up after work or during the day. This is during a 2-3 work weeks in Makati.

After that we are walking around the mall some more. Earlier, she had asked where I was staying and I had told her the New World Renaissance Hotel, which she said she knew of but had never been to. So, as we are walking I ask her if she would like to go see my hotel. What a smooth operator I am. Could you imagine being so direct in our home countries.

Hmmm. Actually it may work.

So she agrees that she would like to see my hotel. Hmm, no it wouldn't work this easy. This girl was dressed very well and we received many looks on our way back to the hotel, or I should say she did. It took us about 15 or 20 minute to walk back to my hotel which by the time we got there she was holding on to my arm and alternating to holding my hand every now and then.

Once at my hotel we go through security and up to my room. We sit and talk little, look out the window as I was on one of the top floors and there were some fireworks in the distance.

This gave me the opportunity to stand behind her and begin my advances. About 15 minutes later we are undressed and moving to the bed to really get the action started. She is 27 years old, but not a pro and very soft and sensual in her approach. She did not like to do BBBJ's and even gave it a try for about 10 seconds, but wanted to stop. No problem for me. She never asked or indicated that she wanted money, so I probably could have just walked her down to the taxi and said good bye for a freebie, but that is not my style and she was well worth the money and time. So she stayed from about 3:00 PM in the afternoon till 11:00 AM the next day, about 20 hours or US$2.70 an hour.


She called and texted me a few times over the next week, but I have this Psychological need to spread my spooge to as many girls as possible. I am possibly the closest relative, genetically that is, to the first Neanderthal man himself.

Well, that's my one and only Glorietta experience. With a girl that is. Be careful there as three times while there during my last trip I was approached by guys that were anywhere from 40 to 55 years old pulling the old "hey boss how are you" as if they know me from somewhere. Never heard of anyone being fooled by these guys in Makati, but this approach has nailed a guy or two in Angeles City over the years. They try to get you to go gamble with them somewhere. First they pretend to be able to take you to meet some girl and then along the way stop to do some gambling. At least that is the one story I've heard. Once in the gamble game they cheat the hell out of you and get very upset if you don't pay as they have about 6 of their friends around. I'm not even nice to these guys when they pull the "hey boss" crap. I loudly tell them to "FUCK OFF" like I am ready to kill someone and they move on quickly in the opposite direction.

A short time hotel within walking distance of Glorietta would be a god send, however it is only a myth at this point.

Your best bet would be to take the MRT to the TAFT station and go to the SOGO Hotel Rotunda. Its only 2 stops down so will only cost about 22 pesos. As far as pick-ups in the area go, your best bet is actually Greenbelt 3, either near the Starbucks or the fast food areas. There are always a mix of Pros and College girls who are up for a lark. I have never had a problem getting lucky.

The natives are indeed friendly as most Western males appear to be either a walking green card or mobile ATM, but use what you got.

disclaimers: i am a newbie in makati, having visited twice for 7 days total. this posting is my notes from my own experiences and from reading the board (some quoted), and is intended to be a quick start for you. the postings on this board are the definitive source of information, use forum search to read more reports.

many report lower prices than i paid; ymmv. i don't have a lot of time to shop, i shop early, and i don't care if i get rock-bottom (price, i mean ;-)), i mainly care about a satisfying experience. pm corrections or comments to me and i may update this posting.

suggestions:

if the girl looks young ask to see an id to avoid an **** legal problem. (i don't know the minimum legal age.)

if you plan to take her back to your hotel, put your valuables (laptop, passport, tickets, money, keys) in safe or out of sight before you go out. tip: short filipinas can’t see into high places, high closet shelves are good if the safe is too small for laptop.

close minibars (expensive), consider buying alternatives in case she’s peckish.

be safe: use a condom (duh?), examine and smell before daty/dfk.

you can’t cross at the intersection of ayala ave and makati ave (fences). use crossover bridges and ped crossings with buttons for walk light, or go when locals go.

quick conversion (u$a, oct 2004): double the peso price, subtract 10%, divide by 100, so pp2000 is about us$36. pp1 is about us$0.18 (http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic for current rates).

if you’re going to be there more than a few days, it’s worth getting a local sim for your mobile, about pp199 for the sim and pp500 for reloads. sms is a cheap way to communicate with girls once you have their number, they prefer it. “smart” and “globe” are two sim providers; “smart” is said to be easier to find. prices/info for smart here: http://www.smart.com.ph/smart/catalog/sim+pack/

you may require a visa to enter philippines. i was told that i needed one as an american doing business, but also that business less than 21 days does not require one, so check for yourself. taxi from airport to hotels around glorietta mall and greenbelt mall takes about 20-30 minutes in my experience. i called my hotel in advance and had them send a driver to meet me. otherwise be sure they use the meter, not flat rate, unless you know prices.

reserve pp550 or us$10 for the terminal (departure) fee.

major hotels: glorietta/greenbelt malls

the hotels that businessmen may find themselves at are shangri-la or peninsula hotels (both near glorietta mall), or new world renaissance (greenbelt mall); all are high international quality. i liked shangri-la much more than peninsula, location especially. my experience with the first two was that they were both girl-friendly (have not stayed at nwr). there are many affordable alternative hotels but i have not used them; look for reports in this forum.

the hotels themselves offer a massage service for a price that seems small if you’re used to usa prices for therapeutic massage. unlike therapeutic masseuses in usa, extra services are almost certainly available. they may offer subtle hints (such as “advertantly” brushing your genitals with their fingers during the massage) or less subtle, such as offering you a happy ending. while this is not a cheap way of having fun, the massage is usually very good, and you can’t beat the convenience if you’re looking for extra services – when they leave, you can cruise off into a nice sleep.

you’ll find many nearby options to shop for ladies. the hotel may have a club or lobby with girls hanging around (e.g. second floor club @ shangri-la). the girls around the glorietta and greenbelt malls, in the outdoor cafes and in our around the clubs, are a convenient option. the ladies on some street corners (e.g. near peninsula hotel) look older and worn out, but unlike the mall girls they are very straightforward in what they offer and the price. there is also the expensive p. burgos bar street, and the middle-range edsa complex, and many other options in other parts of manila; take a taxi, not long except during rush hour.

glorietta and greenbelt girls

"the difference between a prostitute and a girlfriend is that the prostitute is less expensive."in the evening, or even during the day, there are often girls around the glorietta and greenbelt malls, at tables in outdoor coffee shops (starbucks and gloria jeans) and clubs (havana café, or the club in shangri-la hotel) who will invite you with a stare and perhaps a smile. sometimes you will find friendly girls in the mall.

i would rate the ones i saw from 3-7. they range from professional service providers to girls looking for a boyfriend; in my four experiences they were professionals behaving as girls looking for a boyfriend. they come on with the usual eye contact, but the conversation is indirect in terms of price and services arrangements. the girlfriend may offer better gfe, and may expect bfe (gifts, shopping, loan, money for mother who needs medication etc).

the subject of money may not come up before you take them unless you ask, in which case they will reply with “up to you,” “from your heart,” “talk about that later,” or “let’s not talk about that here,” and avoid discussing it. since they are not presenting themselves as professional you may be led to defer the discussion to avoid insulting a potential girlfriend. after the deed has been done, you may hear some sad story about why they need money, and some of it might even be true. you give them what you want to give, and unless you gave them way too much they will ask for more. in my experience they expect 2000-2500 st to 3000 overnight, when i was shopping around 9pm. st is often a friendly and leisurely 2+ hours if you want it. some forum reports say you can bargain for as little as 1000 to 1500 st, especially later in the evening, but one lady told me 1500 would only get me a bj (pass).

i think they use the strategy of discussing money after the deed because it’s a buyers’ market, and negotiating price up front makes them a commodity – if you don’t like the price, you look for another girl. better for them to hook you first and discuss the price later.

i don’t like this game; i prefer to have things clear up front. one poster suggests that if they don’t negotiate a price with you before the act, you can pay them whatever you want. “up to you” on this point.

there are also some pimps walking around. why bother? what-you-see is generally better than what-you-got, and the pimp gets a fee from you. they are persistent, just tell them to leave you alone and deal with the ladies directly. if the ladies the pimps have were good, wouldn’t they be out showing themselves to get the best price and to get all the money? also, note recent posting saying that going with a pimp can lead to a gambling scam.

coffee shops / clubs around glorietta/greenbelt malls


any starbucks or gloria jeans, sitting at tables outside, alone or with another girl (ask the one you want, or take two, they're small!). watch for eye contact.

shangri-la hotel, club on second floor - on a friday evening i found many girls here looking at me as i entered the bar. read my report from august 2003 to see just how naive steve can be.

hard rock café - untried. in glorietta mall, third floor.

dream bar - reported on forum, but nobody was there when i looked (9pm weekday). maybe it's better later or on weekends. near starbucks in glorietta mall.

café havana or havana café – ground floor, greenbelt 3, near starbucks. a club with live music, and ladies waiting to be picked up in the evening. i found some just outside, took one back to my hotel, she fit the usual gray area between professional and girlfriend discussed above. two reports mention that there are also ladyboys at havana.

p. burgos street a quick taxi ride from makati cbd. you could walk it, but it’s hot, taxis are cheap, and you should save your energy for your entertainment. there are many clubs on this street, go-go and cabaret-style. i visited jools (bar fine 2000) and the one i liked (about an 8) could have been had for 1500 st plus bar fine, though her opening price was 3000. bar fines in other clubs ran 2000 to 3000 according to my doorman survey.
p. burgos is the top of the line, the kind of places that guys on expense accounts go.
burgos st. is a party haven, but as others have pointed out, the bars are pricey in comparison to edsa, la cafe or angeles. the girls are a bit more sophisticated in general and, maybe, a tad more quality in looks as a whole.there are girls on the street, some of them are young and look very good. the makati forum has strong warnings against picking up street girls; disease or theft are said to be more likely; i have no experience here.

palacio don pedro – untried. near p. burgos, don pedro st @ kayalan ave. ask for viewing room, 2000 (room) + 2000 (girl).

nearby in manila

for the price of a longer taxi ride, you might get better prices, more variety, or a very classy experience (at air force one). during rush hour it can take an hour or more to get from glorietta/greenbelt to places in manila. in later evening and night it takes 15-30 minutes depending on the place. see also the more extensive reports in the manila thread. the sampling here is places i learned about in this forum; there’s a lot more in the manila forum. ermita is a neighborhood of manila.

la café, bar & grill, – untried. 1429 m.h.del pilar, ermita, manila; corner of salas street. search tip: some postings spell it “l.a. cafe” and most use shortened form “la cafe” (without bar & grill). to say that opinions vary, or that la café is controversial, would put it mildly. many forum reports think highly of this place for price and quality; others say quality is not as good as others, one feels unsafe by appearance of the neighborhood, another assures us it is ok. in the quotes below, remember opinions vary; i’m trying to present a balanced range of opinion here. i suggest you skim a few pages in the manila thread, starting with juniour’s posting on 3-16-04, and make up your own mind.

the next time you're [at la café], take 15 minutes and check out the jurrasic park bar across the street. i had an excellent time. it's a different scene, but the dancers are cute and available. there's a bar fine, which you can avoid by making a date after the bar closes. there are few customers, some excellent women, and no hassles or pressure. ladies drinks are php350, but the ladies nurse them for a long time. there is no discussion by the way of fees for the ladies. i assume it's up to the client and the girls did not seem uptight about it. guys, check out this place when you get tired of burgos, edsa, and the other expensive joints.

just up the street from la cafe. it's alot nicer, and it's new, so it has not yet had a chance to accumulate the grime and dirt characteristic of la.
…a new club up the road from la and it gets some high quality freelancers. the music is pretty good and the place is very nice inside. watch out for the girl in the short skirt who will dance on your dick for 2 minutes and expect a 500 tip. all in all not a bad place to pick up, and all the waitresses wear hot uniforms and most are available for some after work nooky. i found that most girls are expecting 1500 pesos for an overnight stay at the moment, but there were a couple of girls who were happy to leave while i was still sleeping, without a cent (yes, my wallet was still there when i awoke.)
a block north of la cafe on the same street. it’s not quite as crowded as la and seems to have a better quality selection wise for your filipina companionship. your efforts will run anywhere from the cost of dinner and a hotel to around p3k depending on your negotiating skills and whither she is "in the business" or a coligeia on safari.

this is a very upmarket massage parlour and karaoke lounge that is within a stones throw from the international airport and i would suggest after a long flight or before you depart you build in some time to stop here.
edsa complex – untried. along roxas blvd at ne corner of edsa, pasay city. long taxi ride during rush hour, 20 minutes in later evening. for a very complete report, see juniour’s posting in manila thread, 3-16-04.
edsa complex is a cluster of gentlemens bars under one roof, on the north/east corner of edsa and roxas (runs along manila bay). try [it] for a little more "middle of the road" experience [compared to p. burgos] without having to go as low as street walkers. not a bad place for the first timer. [for taxi drivers] it is pronounced "ed sa".
action starts from 7pm until 4am
…you can get one of the girls for about php2,000 inclusive of her time and the bar fine. there are so few foreigners hanging around the complex now, and so many girls, that you should have a wide selection from which to choose. however, i still don't like the aggression of the mama sans at edsa, and the price of the ladies drinks is ridiculous.taxi drivers should know where it is, ask before you get in the cab.

Manila Update:

Unfortunately I am unable to spend a bit of time in Manila as planned earlier, I wanted at least three days here before departing back home but due to the extra time I had taken in Cebu I had only a couple of hours to pass through.

Originally, I had planned to get a massage at Airforce One before departing on my long flight home arriving in the capital at just after 8.30am and clearing baggage control in the domestic airport, with a couple of hours to kill, I soon arrived to find that Airforce One is not open 24 hours as anticipated and in fact opens at 12pm doh!. I also discover that at NAIA there is no left luggage facility so I now have to carry my baggage around with me.

Then someone from Airforce One suggested that I try Star Trek which is literally a couple of doors down, its not an easy place to find if you are not familiar with the area; take the directions for Airforce One and then head to the McDonald and its only two doors down, in the upstairs car park is where you will find the entrance. (See Steve Naïve’s post for the address of Airforce One.)


I had gone in there but they open at 11.30am and it was now just 10.40am, having to check in at 12.30pm and with allowing for the mid-week traffic to get back to the airport. I went to McDonalds and grabbed a quick bite to eat but by the time I got back they said they had a girl on the way, but she didn’t materialize until around 12 midday, but my time had expired waiting around therefore I had to pass on this no matter how much I desperately wanted an nice massage before enduring 24 hours of travelling.

About the only 24/7 operation is Skyline Massage which is on the 8th floor of the Grand Boulevard Hotel on Roxas Blvd. in Malate across from the baywalk. For 06:00 to 17:00 the single girl room rate is P1200; from 17:00 to 06:00 the rate goes up to P1500. It also boasts the largest selection of girls, though the early crew is only 5-6 girls. During the evenings that jumps to about 100 over the course of a night. The proceedure is you go to the aquarium, pick your girl, go to the room, shower, get your massage, then the "extra" which you negotiate with the MPA (usually somewhere between room rate and P2500). plan on about 1hr 15min for visit. They also do double, triple, quad, or quint girls asumming you have the budget and the stamina. You get extra time as your investment climbs.

As for Star Trek you missed out on there "Wet Thai" massage in their "presidential" aquarium. Your would need about 1 1/2 hours but it is something to be experienced as she lathers you up for a massage using her various body parts. I save it for "special" occassions.

Thanks for tip, on the cheaper texting with “Chikka”; I have now amended my Cebu post to include some information concerning Shan. But do take my advice for future reference, I am a stickler for punctuality, and time is money, if I make an appointment and they fail to show up within a reasonable time I just cancel. I did make an appointment for someone to come my hotel in Makati and was told that someone would be there in 30 minutes after 50 minutes I called back to cancel, the same way that you wouldn’t wait around in a restaurant for a meal for 45 minutes after you have ordered your meal, unless it is for free - business is business.

I'm more concerned about the ice in my drinks than I am with drinking the tap water (I'll drink bottled water while I'm there). If I order a scotch on the rocks or gin & tonic at one of the establishments on Burgos St. (Jools, Dimples, etc.), will I end up running to the bathroom in the middle of the night? It would be quite embarrassing to have the squirts with a "guest" in the room with me.

You have obviously been reading one of the 1960s travel guides that advises you to stick to drinking cola than trust the ice in your drink in two thirds of the developing world.

However, Burgos Street is in Makati and Makati is the financial capital of the Philippines – so any place that has banned smoking from all public places (one of the best things in my opinion) is unlikely to cause you any problems in the dodgy tummy department unless you have a very very sensitive stomach, within reason if you are sticking to the main bars and not the street sellers. I would have said you would have had more problems with the ice in your drinks on your flight to the Philippines than what you will find in Makati.

the municipal water in makati is exactly the same water as the rest of metro manila, a system built in 1878 by the spanish, badly damaged by artillery and bombing in ww2 and never fully repaired, the eastern half of which is now owned and operated by the ayala group following a privatization in 1997.

when the water pressure gets low due to many thousands of illegal connections and leaks throughout the antiquated system, or the groundwater pressure gets high due to saturation and lack of drainage in the monsoon season, it becomes contaminated with raw sewage. you could be drinking human fecal matter whether in makati, pasig, mandaluyong, or anywhere else in and around the city. people do get away with drinking it for a while, but you're making a roll of the dice with your health anytime you do so anywhere in metro manila including makati. same pipes, same water. if it isn't boiled, peeled, or sealed in a package it is risky to eat, drink, or brush your teeth with it. higher prices and the absence of tobacco in bars do not stop dangerous bacteria in water pipes.

i'm glad the previous poster was able to have a good time during the few weeks he has spent in the country, and he probably meant to be helpful, but that was ill-informed and very bad advice. people get dead from dysentery, occasional cholera outbreaks, and other serious water borne illnesses, and it is a major reason the average lifespan is only 57 years.

even in the pi it is hard to get laid while you are hooked up to an iv in a hospital while spasmodically squirting liquefied crap on yourself. it is best to be skeptical of the word of some prolific posters in this particular section of the forum, and if it is something important to you, such as your health, wealth, or safety, then it is wise to get multiple sources and make a cautious judgment on their credibility.

I think you’ve taken a few things out of context here, first I thought we were taking about ice here.

Second, there is a big industry, not just in the Philippines but wider in Asia generally, that actually produces and provides filtering equipment for the production of purified ice/water specifically for bars that caters for foreigners, for all of the reasons you have mentioned. I know this because I once had a conversation with a representative from a company that provides such equipment, who informed me that all the big players are already there.

I suggest that rather than prolong this particular thread I would suggest you asked the bar man/woman or waiter/tress where the ice is actually coming from. Makati is geared up towards serving foreigners and naturally the bars want to retain their cliental. Japanese and Koreans are particularly fond of spirits on the rocks and its well known how particular they are about what they will eat and they don't seem to have any problems although they still complain about the rice there.

Third, in the seventeen years I have been visiting the Philippines I have not yet has any stomach problems as such, nor have I heard of anyone suffering from dysentery or any water borne illnesses from ice in their drink (where sensible precautions are taken) - avoid the street sellers ice as I have seen how they are delivered.

Wow... this thread is dead. I have a question about traveling throughout Makati, Pasay, and Manila. Is it advisable to take the Mass Transit System (LRTs) to get from place to place? I was researching and saw that an LRT from Makati can take me close to the EDSA complex and from there can take another LRT to Manila (L.A. Cafe, Skyline health, etc.) ... Or at least close by.

The search function on this board sucks now since the upgrade so it's harder for me to search for things. If any one has any info on this, that would be greatly appreciated... I'm planning on arriving the Tues after Christmas and staying past New Years... any advice for me? Will it be dead since people will be celebrating the Holidays and not working so much?

And, for the younger guys out there, where's a good place to go clubbing in Makati? No mongering... just chillin, dancing, and checking out the trendy girls.

I wouldn't recommend the LRT as it is well known for snatching wallets and cellphones. Taxis are plentiful and reasonably cheap. To go from Makati to LA Cafe is probably only going to cost you about 150 pesos(3 USD)and time can vary 20 minutes to 1 1/2 hour, though usually it's not as bad as they will try to make it out provided he keeps off the know high traffic streets. You can add 20-30 peso tip if you like. Usually the cabbie will start whinging about traffic, high cost of fuel, sick kids, long hours, etc, etc. I only tip the ones that don't ***** and moan and are pleasant and don't give me a hassle, and then tell them why I'm tipping. You may have to canvas a few drivers first if your going between cities, but usually you'll find one fairly quick. So for less than 3-4 bucks you can ride in "relative" safety

Though I've never been robbed in 12 years of visiting Manila and walking around, it's better to avoid the congested bump and run areas like LRT stations.

Personally, I would not recommend takingpublic transportation here. Stay away from jeepneys and buses. LRT1 (Light Rail Transit), which runs along Rizal and Taft avenues, is only partly air-conditioned (selected carts only) and always packed. It will take you close to LA Cafe and Cafe Havana in Malate but the walk from LRT station to the destination (especially LA Cafe) might not be pleasant at all. MRT3 (Mass Rail Transit) runs along EDSA and is much better than LRT. It's relatively new and fully air-conditioned. You could take it if you need to go to Glorietta/Greenbelt or Shangri-la Plaza on Shaw boulevard. However, I would not recommend to take it to EDSA complex the walk is relatively short (about 500 m) but, again, very unpleasant. The connection between MRT3 and LRT1 is confusing. Taxis here are very cheap. So my advice is to always use them. Just make sure that they turn on the meter. If not, ditch the cab and get a new one. There have been stories when cab drives were involved in various scams, but generally, if you follow common sense, you should be safe.

New Year's Day is the craziest day in Manila. I was here on New Year's Day only once and since then try to leave the country on that occasion. Expect a lot of people outside and don't be surprised to hear gunshots - so watch out for stray bullets. Every year someone gets accidentally killed in Manila on New Year's day. My advice is to stay inside of one of the many bars that will be opened.

There are two great places to go clubbing in Metro Manila. One is Quezon City. There are plenty of great clubs with absolutely beautiful girls. However, I would not recommend going there alone. You will not find expats there - mainly local youth. If you have a local friend, that's the place to go. Otherwise, follow the rest of the foreigners to Makati. While Manila has some clubs, you'll find older crowd. The young ones stick to Makati. For the beginner, I would recommend starting with Greenbelt. There are two clubs on the third level. Do not expect to hook up with rich and posh there - they stick to private parties.

Anyway, that's my personal opinion. Hopefully, other people on the board could give you a different angle on the questions you asked.

EDSA Complex in Pasay is kind of sort of close to an LRT station, maybe 10 minutes walk or even faster if you walk fast.

It's quite a bit farther from LA Cafe, etc. to a station.

I like to walk and take public transport myself. But in Manila, with it's humidity and grit, even a short walk like the one from EDSA Complex to that nearby station can leave me feeling grungy and sweaty. And you really don't want to be like that when you're trying to meet up with girls. It does, however, make your first beer taste real good.

Like all mass transit in Asia, the LRT is crowded and some of the cars aren't even air conditioned.

Since taxis are so cheap there's no need to take public transport. Between Makati, EDSA and Mabini you almost never need to pay more than 2 bucks or so.

I guess I'll be sticking to taxis then... When I was traveling/vacationing in Bangkok, I used the electric train almost all the time and didn't fear people pick-pocketing me... actually it didn't seem too crowded in those trains. But, I guess Manila is a different story. Thanks fellas!

I have been taking theLRT and MRT in Manila when I visit-it is fast although crowded during rush hours. Never been pickpocketed - if you use common sense and stay alert you will be OK. It might be safer than buses and jeepneys. In non-rush hours taxis are the way to go - pick newer ones and make sure to ask if the AC is working. A couple of bucks will get you from Greenbelt to Malate if the traffic is light. Please tip accordingly as the taxi drivers don't make much money. They in turn could give you tips on the best place to monger.

#1584. Hope you enjoy your trip to Manila. As mentioned before, if you want to check out a moderately upscale nightspot, go to Havana's at the Greenbelt Mall in Makati. Outdoor patio with tables that are always full. If you want to go in the smallish bar and listen to the Cuban music and dance, you will need shoes and collar. Flip flops not allowed. It is very safe and easy to get to. It is right near the Makati Shangri La Hotel and there are a cluster of really big malls. While in that area, you can also try the Hard Rock Cafe. There are also other nightclub/bars on the floors above Havana that are worth checking out. I have only ever seen working girls at Havana and Hard Rock though. The vast majority of patrons at these places are just Filipinos out to look good and have fun. If you want two very upscale places with nearly always a gaggle of girls looking to chat and meet, try the second floor bar of the Shangri La in Makati and Wasabi's (a Japanese Restaurant/bar) next to the Peninsula Hotel. Nice places and there are usually some very attractive, more cosmopolitan types hanging out there. Walking around in Makati is safe from my experience and I have often walked from the major hotels near the malls to Burgos. Fifteen or twenty minutes at night and you can get a bit of the feel of the city.

There are also a bunch of night spots that are not necessarily tied into mongering on Adriatico Street in Malate neighborhood. I have been to a few like the Library and Bedrock. Nice talent and nice crowd.

You can also go over to the business areas in Ortigas section of Manila. Lots of restaurants and bars near the big SM Mall that has many of the emerging middle class yuppie wannabes that work in the call centers and such.

Then, when you get tired of doing that, hit EDSA complex or Burgos or LA Cafe because it will save you alot of time and effort! Have fun, be safe.

Anyway, I'll be in Makati in two weeks. For the first time, in anticipation of the trip, I joined a filipino website to try to meet some regular girls, in addition to the pros. At least for the daytime. Of course, it will be EDSA at night unless I get lucky. Question: does anyone have any experience with meeting girls from the websites. Do their photos and online personas come anywhere near the reality?

What Dashing Don said about being safe in Makati is true. It's a generally safe place, especially around the Greenbelt area. However, during the Christmas/New Years period, walking alone in the street is probably not a great idea. This is the peak crime season, even in Makati, and during this time, taking cabs, even for short distances, is more prudent. Also, the incidence of petty theft increases dramatically in Makati during this preiod, which is logical considering it's the richest area in Manila. So, don't walk around with alot of cash, guard your cell phone and do not leave it on a table in Cafe Havana, and use some common sense.

I do not know if the "Handle Bar" in Makati is well known to members of this board. It's a nice place, with old Harleys inside and out, and it's run by an expat. The place is having a "no cover charge/no entrance fee" New Year's Even party, which should be some fun. If anyone is looking for a relatively low cost blow out, this could be a good place to go.

While visiting Makati in October I stayed at both the Intercontinental and Dusit. At both places I brought women back to the hotel late in the evening and I received no hassles from anyone. But while at the Dusit, I sent an "all niter" home at around 3 am because I had to be up early to catch my plane home. She left my room and I rolled over and tried to get some sleep. A few minutes after leaving my room I received a call from the front desk asking whether this woman had indeed been to my room and if everything was ok. I replied that everything was fine, and they thanked me and wished me a good night.

I'm guessing their call was to ensure that I was ok, and hadn't been drugged and robbed. It was nice to see that the hotel security was looking out for me, and not expending energy in trying to make it tough for men to bring a "friend" up to their room. But I'm sure it must have been quite embarassing for her to be hassled by hotel security, so when I return in April I will make sure to walk my friends through the lobby to the cab waiting area.

If you got the money, P Burgos Street in Makati is a great place to be. I stayed at the Great Eastern Hotel on Makati Avenue (1399P a night).

I especially liked the gogo bars, Banditos and Wild West. Wild West had a couple of young lasses in the 7-9 range. I barfined a young honey who had a voluptous body (huge knockers). Mamasan was kindy of pushy on me buying more drinks and she kept pushing me to give a "Christmas Tip" for the staff. I don't mind giving a little for Christmas, but constant begging bordering on harrassment gets old quick.

Banditos had a decent atmosphere and the dancers seem closer to the tables allowing for better "interaction" with customers. I met of of nice girls here and had some good laughs. No BF though.

I've stayed at the City Garden two or three times. On each occasion I've brought girls back to the room and never had any problem from the hotel staff. If the girl leaves on her own (without you escorting her out) the front desk will detain her and check with you that all is ok before they allow her to leave. It's a good, reasonably priced hotel and very convenient for P Burgos street.

Having stayed at New World Renaissance Hotel one dozen times across the street from Greenbelt Mall they are girl-friend hospitable. Typical call in the room after she leaves for your safety. I usually call down and inform them she's on her way down. She said they even met her at elevator to escort her safely to the cab.

The Peninsula Hotel, at the corner of Ayala and Makati, has free broadband internet access in their rooms. Their number is 011 632-887-2888 if you want to clarify this with them. Also, for a $13 fare, they will pick you up from the airport.

from my personal experience, the rent for a nicely furnished apartment in makati with all amenities you listed would run from about $1200 to up to $2500 per month inclusive of utilities and dues, assuming you intend to rent on a month-to-month basis. if you were to sign a 6-month or one-year lease, the rent obviously would be lower. i'm talking about premium properties with area of at least 150 sq. m for 2br apartment, dsl connection and great security.

if are a bit flexible regarding some of the amenities (e.g., the broadband internet, size of the apartment and quality of furniture), you could get something under $1000. when you negotiate, make sure that the agent gives you the price inclusive of the dues (they could run as high as $200 per month) and utilities (electricity is not cheap here). if high-speed internet is not your priority, you could easily get a prepaid card for modem access. for 100 pesos (less than $2) you could get up to 10 hours of internet. they are sold everywhere. in comparison, dsl connection could cost from $35 to $50 depending on the speed.

again, this is from my personal experience of an expat. maybe some other members of the forum could provide more depth on the subject.

So far my experience in this country has been great. I am currently staying at the Peninsula hotel, a 5 star establishment that is charging me $90 a day due to me staying here for at least a week. Its location is its greatest asset. It is walking distance from enough from Burgos that I don't need a taxi to get there and just across the street from Glorietta malls and Greenbelt.

After my buddy's wedding, I went with his cousins and other relatives to Starfleet, a massage parlor in Paranaque. There was this uncle of his from California who brought his son and nephew, both 15 years old, to the place so that they can experience their first fs adventure there. Can you believe that!

As far as I am concerned, the experience there was fabulous. I am still amazed at the ability of Filipinos to be bilingual, considering that Tagalog and English are so different. I had a girl named Angielyn thare, #17, who just started working there about 4 months ago. For 4,000 pesos, about $71, she first gave me a Thai massage, which is a wet massage; a regular massage, your typical massage that includes oil and alcohol; and two rounds of sex, meaning that I was able to blow my nut twice. This was a 2-hour experience.

Just a little warning though who plan to go here. The women here tend to either forget or do not want to have sex with condoms, at least with me. I had to be the one who insisted in putting on a condom, rather than my Filipina counterpart.

I had one of those weird experiences that *****mongers only experience last night. The night before I met Nika at the Starbucks on Ayala Avenue, right across from the Shangri-La hotel. We were in line together and I just commented about her shirt and the next thing you know we were sitting at a table together. After chit-chatting, we decided to go to my room to do the deed in the Peninsula hotel. She asked me for a 2,000 peso tip, which is about $35, afterwards, gave me her number, and we left together for the Cafe Havana to dance the night away.

The next night I went to Greenbelt again and this time met with Candy and her friend Penelope right in front of the Starbucks there. Again after chit-chatting, we went to my room. The cost for this orgy was 8,000 pesos, or $142. Being not in the lesbian thing, I took turns pummeling both of them, until I blew my nut.

Afterwards, while I was talking to Penelope on my left, Candy received a phone call, from somebody. This person asked her where she was and she described her situation--that she was in the Peninsula hotel with a guy from Arizona. Well, the next thing you know, Candy asked me excitedly what my last name was. After telling her, she told me that the person she was talking to was no other than Nika, to whom I given my full name, the girl I had sex with the night before on the same bed! These girls were friends. I guess they ply their trade in the Glorietta and Greenbelt areas. Talk about a weird circumstance.

Pegasus is similar to AF1, but I have never been there. I am not sure of the location (Quezon Ave?).

Airforce One is on Sukat in Paranaque near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. It is near Starfleet, on the other side of the McDonald's on Sukat. Ok all, Ill get detailed as possible about my experience because I know it would have helped me out a lot before my trip. If anyone knows a place I should check out that’s better or same PLEASE let me know.

I went here last August and really think that it was the cleanest and best places to go…I also know that Maui Taylor and Aubrey Miles did some appearances here in the last few months. So this place is a Huge 3 story building somewhere near the Airport, I just told the taxi dude to take me from Makati to Air Force one and he knew where to go… Some guys wouldn’t drive me there but was damn cheap. Its somewhere near the airport.

You enter the double doors where you climb a set of stairs or elevator where you reach the Main reception desk. From here you have paths to take. I tipped the dude a couple hundred pesos and he gave me the FULL tour of the place.

1) Began in the Karaoke Room. This thin was Huge with a Main bar in the back, a huge T shaped and awesome couches all around. Surrounded by that were the personal karaoke rooms and hallways for more rooms and whatever other secret places they may have…We Watched a few sets of performances from cute girls dancing to music and all.. We were told that if we wanted any of the girls on stage to ask and they would bring them to our table where we could decide on whatever I figure…We were done and were led around the corner to a small selection of women dressed in gowns behind the glass window, about 20-30 girls here. I checked out the room, Had a nice couch or two to my recollection, a TV, Karaoke stuff, Bathroom, coffee table and chairs with some fruit, probably some more stuff, was good size for 2 people for whatever you did... The selection throughout the place was awesome some fugly but still several good ones and im damn picky… We waited in the room where the girl came in a did everything for me, from starting the tub to putting toothpaste on my toothbrush after. We began in the sauna caus ei wanted to check it out for 5 min, then off to the whirlpool tub for a bath, then dried off to the bed for a great massage and some chit chat. Then more fun. You're correct about the electronics mall. I was speaking as a resident of the PI, so for me the place is like Valhalla, compared to the paltry selection I can find in Davao. Of course, it cannot compare with Singapore, Hong Kong or Dubai, or for that matter, even Bangkok, but it's as good as it gets here.

I was in Manila all of last week, and the entire city of Makati was full. All of the big hotels, the restaurants, the malls, and the streets. I don't think the bombers succeeded in creating an atmosphere of caution.

Day 2 Makati

In my experience I am not sure if Starbucks, near Glorietta 3 is a good place to go looking to pick up some day time action in Makati. I went there several times during the days whilst I was there and also last September and to be honest there were more transsexual than actual girls, who were more visible. You could try hanging around for a long time and not actually score anything.

It depends on how you carry yourself, the way you dress and if you are prepared to make the first move. From my experience of all Pinay girls is that despite working as freelancer or as bar girls they all deny to themselves and other that they are actually hookers. The reason is that most of these girls are bar rejects. Got a break from work so I can Post. Almost time for my next Trip and I did not finish posting about the last one.

I had to check e-mail so I decided purposely to go to a Cafe on Burgos for this. Then for my first Tour of the Clubs there in exactly two years. Some ex-pat drunk staying at my Hotel called my cell to relay a message from a Business Associate of mine who called the Hotel looking for me. Drunk spent 10-12 hours a day in the Hotel Bar keeping tabs on everyone which is how he got this message relayed to him from my Associate.

I sort of felt sorry for the Drunk as all he ever did was sit in the bar, drink and talk about what he planned to do. I invited him to accompany me on my "Club Tour" of burgos St. It worked out ok and I was amazed to see him show up at Dimples.

Kept it to 1-2 beers per Club as we worked our way down the Street. I noticed that the women had become even more avaricious, if such a thing is possible. At the fifth bar, the guy could not bring himself to leave. I had just heard a long story from a lovely 25 y/o who was telling me how I could take her upstairs to VIP, tie her up, whip her and even have my drunk pal fuck her. This last part had me thinking, "girl you have got to be really desperate". I paid and headed out. While waiting for Drunk to catch up at Jungle Bar, I noticed a hot pussy standing on the corner. Because of the horrendous traffic on the South Super Highway (even with the toll road), it will take you a long time to reach the Manila nightlife areas - Pasay, Makati, Malate and Quezon City. I would not stay there if your purpose is to party.

I will agree with you that the rooms are small and the buffet sucks.But regarding the checks on the girls,There is a valid reason for this.There have been 4-5 cases last month alone of their guests being ROBBED by the friends they picked up in Cafe Havana.Understand that these guys raised hell why didnt Security register the girls,copy their I.D etc.I guess they decided to play safe to protect their guests.For example when I call my cousin from S.F who is currently staying their,They ask him first If he wants to take my call before connecting me.Likewise the body checks,I am sure you noticed the metal detectors galore etc.That is why the U.S military is housing their advisors,trainers etc at New World,they are there for the security.Dusit and Mandarin are more girl friendly.Hope this helps clarify their phobia

I guess strictly speaking I should post this in the Manila section, but I was staying in Makati and wanted to recommend the Oxford Suites Hotel. Nice, clean and good price, much better than anything else I've seen on P.Burgos street. only drawback is no pool, but very girl friendly.

I stayed at the Oxford last year and can confirm it is a decent hotel and reasonably priced also. My only gripe with the place was that the shower water was was barely lukewarm. It is located right in the center of many bars, so plenty of nightlife awaitng right outside the front door.

The answer to your question is YES, there are many Ladyboys that hang around P Burgos street, not so much during the day but at night and as you are aware the streets are not very well lit. They are mainly looking for drunk guys who are not too fussed or aware of what they are actually getting.

The golden rule is when you meet someone never take them directly to your room, I suggest to a bar first to check them out, because its not just the ladyboys you have to worry about but the girls who are looking to rob you. Warning bells should be ringing when someone you meet on the street tells you they are in a hurry to get to your room.

Actually, I stayed at the City Garden for a night and the jacuzzi was heated in the middle of the day. I didn't have time for the gym or restaurant and it is about 2 blocks away from Burgos.

I know the Best Western is across the street and I believe the Oxford is right in the middle of Burgos and perfect for mongerers in terms of location. I haven't stayed there so I don't know what the rooms are like.

My first post this is. I have't tried this, but just as an idea if you are not into being extorted in these Go-Go bars, it seems like you can easily pick up girls in the Makati area around the Landmark mall. They hang out at the Starbuck's on Dela Rosa and Rizal Drive and will wave at you or approach you, it's a sure bet.

On one of the pedestrian overpasses over Makati Ave to Greenbelt Park, a girl got into my way asking me "can I go with you?". But I didn't know how to react and just went on. Then finally around that small park on Rizal and North Drive I saw two really pretty girls there, and it was very, very tempting. So, I had a cigaret close by hoping they might approach me and I could at least chat a bit. But they didn't come. However, as I walked by them they "hello"-ed me as I expected.

But I'm not a real monger, have business associates staying with me in the same hotel and didn't want to run into them with the girls. I just received an email from the Peninsula hotel regarding my confirmed four-day stay next week. For whatever reason, they lowered the agreed upon rate of $135 to $95! No explanation given. Can business be this bad? Its a great hotel: luxurious appointments including beds that are very comfortable, lots of restaurants, and a large outdoor pool. The girls don't want to leave.

Whats kind of funny is that on their site, instead of the usual Mr or Mrs, they have a long list of salutations including, President, colonel, viceroy, duke general etc. Testimony to the clientele that frequent the place I guess. I searched the list long and hard. Couldn't find a salutation for 'monger'. Oh well! Recognition will have to come in the sack.

After a long closure, Foxys bar has reopened. It is not only one of the largest bars in the Burgoss area, when I was there Saturday, it had some excellent tallent! They were able to take some of the hottest girls from the other bars for their reopening, and also find some new tallent. If I recall correctly the trip by taxi is about half an hour after 8 pm. Rush hour is more or less from 4-7 pm, and home after midnight should be maybe only 20 minutes.

You can get taxi from Makati to Quezon Ave bars for about $3 meter and it takes about thirty minutes. You can easily flag a taxi at the clubs there to return to Makati at any time of the night. The club can assist you there too.

Tommygold is right. Leave after 8 and you'll get there quicker. Stardust closes around 330AM and plenty of taxis outside. Make sure the taxi driver starts the meter, a few will try to charge you more on the side.

Not sure about takeout from Stardust but you can pretty do everything in their VIP room.

The barfine in Foxys, like most of the Burgos places, is 3,000. However, you if you are buying more than one ladies drink, you can usually get the cost of the ladies drinks taken off the barfine if you speak to mamasan FIRST. If you want to get her drunk, you can usually buy 10 ladies drinks and not pay a barfine. It is then 1,500 or 2,000 for the girl short time. Add another 500 or 1000 for overnight.

Stay at Excecutive Plaza Hotel and book through Action Travel. They got me 1500p a night for a room that is advertised on the hotel's website at over US$80 per night and other booking services quoted it at around US$40. I'm not associated with Action Travel - just a very satisfied customer.

Copacabana is in Pasay City - not Makati. Yes, it is across from EDSA just a short walk from Roxas blvd. which is the road that runs along the waterfront.

I like Copa because it has a nice pool and is close to the airport if you have an early flight. The rooms are big. They always seem to push me up to the top floor which is where they have remodeled so as to create more rooms...single rooms. The apartments are very spacious with a living/dining room adjacent to the bedroom (which has the air con.). Too bad they don't put fans in those living/dining rooms, because the air con won't cool it down.

To be honest, I'm still not sure which style of I prefer -- single room or apartment. On the floors with apartments, it seems like some of the places are permanently occupied.

Twice, I have been charged at check out for a drink that I didn't consume. The first time i had some doubt cause I was drunk and didn't watch the girl every second. The second time, I have no doubt. It's not much money, but I don't like the idea.

You don't have much choice at the Arrival area, everyone is going to charge $300 pesos (flat rate) If you want you can go up the stairs to the departures area and get a metered cab for about $150 pesos

Plenty of money changers on P Burgous St.. Check around for the best rate as they vary from place to place

Kojack, taxi fare should be under 150 if you use the meter. I think around 100.

Always have small bills for these guys because they NEVER have change. I personally give a little extra tip for those who don't run women/children off the road nor blast their horn more than 40% of the time.

Copacapbana (in Manila). Porty, ask to see a room before you pay your money. Some have balconies. Some face the street (noisy) and some face the pool.

As for aircon problem, always put the girl farthest from the air con. In the copa apartment rooms, you could open the door to the living/dining area to warm things up.

You asked about the waterfront. The copa is not near the Baywalk area which has open air bars, live bands/restaurants and lots of people strolling. Around Copa, there isn't much to see / do. If you walk several blocks (south? behind the hotel) you will find a very lively and colorful market - Baclaran Market. There is also a Catholic church there if you need to say some prayers.

Foxys is not a new club, but one that was closed for maybe a year and then reopened. It is not actually on burgos, but just a one minute walk from it. Much bigger than the burgoss clubs in terms of size. Unfortunately, it has been DEAD the couple of times I have been their, and I suspect the fine quality of girls that they poached from the other bars will wander off if the customers don't come. Being "just off" burgoss is not the same as being "on" burgoss, and it appears that a lot of people miss this bar.

Not too many girls but the price is cheaper. Half price on drinks and barfine of about Ph 1,500 with the girl asking for Ph1,500 as well. Better bet is to hit the big strip bars like Miss Universal or hit the Erimita/Malate area. Ton of bars in Quezon city but you will need to know someone from the area. Best bet is to go to AC where there are tons of bars open in the early afternoon.

Was in Metro-Manila whole of last week. Stayed in City Garden on business. FYI, the hotel is great and the floor is made of wood. Its smacked in the middle of the Makati Red Light District. Next to the hotel, is dark lane, just by standing there after 10pm girls there would approach you and ask for your price. Usually btw 1500p to 2000p for LT.

As for me I was walking pass the lane and was approached by a filipino guy. Speak good english and asked where I wanted to go. I said anywhere which have got what MEN wants! He brought me to a strip club call Vitory Hills. First time there and was definitely a strip club. It was quite expensive as the cover charge was 650p and drink for gals ranges from 500 to 1200p. Was there for an hour and left without a gal as it was 8000K. Overall, they treat you like a king with massage and so on, as long as you tip them.

The Filipino driver who fetched me there was there waiting, his name is Jun. ( ask from me if you want ) I complained to him it was to expensive. From 9500 to 8000p still expensive. He said patience! Here is a tip for those of you who don't know yet. I am sure this has been said at some time in the past but I will say it now anyway.

There is a club right next to Pizza Hut on the corner of Burgos & Makati Ave called Rogue's. Girls are hot and fun. Happy hour until 10PM. Drinks reasonably priced.

Watch out for Friday night as the place is usually hopping and the pool tables packed pretty good.

As for the clubs on Burgos during the day. Is kind of dead. Just like Angeles most clubs do their maintenance and cleaning during the daytime. There are a couple of clubs that are open but it seems like during the day is old lady hooker time. I answered my own question as to what happens to a bargirl when she gets old? Simply put they work during the day when noone is in the clubs anyway.

As for the post about Victory Hills. That place is a complete waste of time and a gigantic rip off. I went in there a day or two before Easter 2003 because most of the other clubs were closed for the holiday. I made the mistake of going back in about a year later. Wasn't any better. I now live in Makati Prime Towers. It is located about a block from Burgos. Not even a block actually. Prime Towers is actually a hotel that is in serious debt so the owners decided to sell off some of the units. Some people live here full time others rent out their units and split the revenue from the rented room with the hotel.

I will try to make regular posts now that I am living here full time. I made my move here about 2 months ago.
