If you read my Makati trip report posted today, you will see I had a very active time in Makati. However what was interesting was one young lady I met, who is a tenant in an older caucasian guys apartment. (basically she gets free board and lodging and he gets to see pretty girls in his place). Anyways she was telling me about this guys incredible stamina. (hes over 75). And basically he goes to Harrison plaza everyday and gets a new noe to bang. And repeats and repeats. I've never been there. Been everywhere else tho. And am wondering if its an interesting place to score. Or a dump with third rate women with saggy tits and stretch marks. Any thoughts or observations.

Harrison Plaza is a dump, but I did see a few girls I wouldn't mind hitting though I was in no position to do something about it when I was there. It might be fertile ground since there are very few to no kanos present. But if that old guy is hitting it every day, they must know about him by now. Location please, slumming can be great fun.Between Adriatico and Mabini at Pablo Ocampo. It's just South of the Manila zoo, across Mabini from the Central Bank of the Philippines, about three blocks East of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and four blocks South of Remedios Circle. It's about midway between LA Cafe and the EDSA entertainment complex, about 3/4 miles from each. There's not much reason to go there unless you're otherwise doing sight-seeing at one of these other places. If you're confident take a jeepney or LRT 1 to Vita Cruz station, otherwise you'll need a cab.

If it isn't the oldest mall in the Phils, it's one of the oldest and it sure shows its age. I seem to recall reading that it was built in the 60's.

When I was checking my sources, I happened to find a page in Wikipedia listing all the major malls in the Phils. Someone has way too much time. But it does sound like a good reference for those looking for new hunting grounds.

Every taxi driver knows Harrison Plaza! There simply go up to the first floor and wait in the middle of the mall (close to the crossroads). While watching the crowd you will be contacted very soon.

But be aware, you don't need help from any of the dozens pimps who are hanging around! Tell them to get lost and talk directly to a girl you like!

It's actually in the extreme southern end of the City of Manila, about two blocks North of the boundary with Pasay City. This distinction isn't a big deal, except that: a) the street signs will say Mabini Street, since F.B. Harrison becomes Mabini once it crosses into Manila, and, b) the mall is within Mayor Lim's jurisdiction if he chooses to follow through on his 2007 campaign promises about "cleaning up" Manila.

If you fly philippine airlines you arrive at the new PAL terminal, separate from the other monstrosity (Aquino terminal).

You arrive and depart same terminal if with PAL. On 20 or so arrivals at this new terminal I have found they do not check your bags etc, just ask "anything to declare". You do not pick up bags at manila, they place on cebu flight for you.

3 min walk from intl exit door to Pal domestic departure terminal. Same complex/building. PAL make sure plane does not leave until intl passengers flying Pal have boarded domestic flight. Had it happen to me once.

IF arriving at Aquino terminal on another airline, immigration can be slow, then baggage handling onto carousel can be slow, cause lots more passengers arriving at that terminal. Sometimes even if you pass through nothing to declare they might ask you to open up, then hassle of getting from intl to domestic with your baggage via taxi whatever, including rip off fare. If me, I would allow minimum of an hour and a half from time plane lands at Aquino Terminal to time of checking in bags at PAL terminal.

Any talk about PAL being a shitty intl airline is mostly talk. Travelled with them for 35yrs now. They are ok, and more than ok if your destination is Cebu.

In my opinion, it certainly is shitty if your destination is Cebu and you arrive in Manila on an airline other than PAL.

It depends on whether other flights have come in near the same time. Last trip three flights came in right around the same time. Customs was crowded but it took less time than immigration. Immigration 20 minutes, customs 5 minutes.

I've been on the same flight in and one time it was a mad house and took forever on immigration. The next time there was no waiting. The computer systems for immigration seem real slow. It's a crap shoot. I kind of doubt you'll be leaving to Cebu out of the international airport, and I believe you'll need to somehow get transportation to the domestic terminal. I don't think you can just walk over to it like other airports.

Yes PAL has their own terminal but I would never recommend anybody fly PAL.
Cebu Pacific is located in the domestic terminal and has a shuttle bus to the main terminal.
Both airlines have numerous flights to Cebu everyday.
Air Philippines does not fly to Cebu from Manila.

I guess everyone's experience with airlines is slightly different, but I avoid Cebu Pacific as much as possible. Living in Davao, and going to Manila once or twice a month, I never fly anything but PAL, which, for me, has far superior service, is more likely to be on time, has a more gracious flight crew and cleaner planes. Also, I cannot stand the cramped, dark old domestic terminal in Manila used by Cebu Pacific. Of course, this may change if the Philippines ever succeeds in opening the "new" NAIA terminal which has been under construction for about four or five years and whose failure to open is emblematic of the country's complete incompetence to manage much of anything.

PAL has made a concerted effort to improve over the past couple of years and, to my mind, it's paid off handsomely. It's also got one of the better frequent flier programs in the world.

I’d have to agree with Goodenough. You do NOT want to transfer to Cebu Pacific as Mattrick recommends. It’s a completely different terminal which is miles away and the service with Cebu Pacific is subpar compared to PAL. It sounds like you are coming in from the west coast of the U.S. which means you only have to get through customs and take a very short walk to PAL’s domestic terminal. In addition there are several flights per day to Cebu on PAL with the first flight leaving only a couple hours after your arrival from the west coast. I can only assume Mattrick has not traveled with PAL in several years as their service has improved dramatically. They also will be taking delivery of a fleet of 777’s next year which means no more refueling in Guam coming in from LAX or SFO.

I've only ever flown Cathay Pacific to either Manila or Cebu from SFO or LAX.Theres very little price difference from either or to either.Cebu is usually about 50 usd more round trip which is much cheaper then booking separately on another airline for the MNL CEB run.I totally agree with GE on using pal domestically there.I used to use cebu pac and the service was great but since they bought the new planes its gone down hill,they never seem to be on time for anything. 5 of the last 6 flights I took on them were 1 hour or more late.I looked yesterday punching in a random date for a next month departure from LAX to CEB 1094 usd round trip thats buying it directly from the cathay site.

I've RTFF for what seems like months now. The anticipation of my virgin trip to Manila in May is killing me. Still copying, pasting and resorting info currently, but need someone with local experience to comment on the following before I make firm hotel/travel plans:

I arrive into Manila on PAL at, of all times, 5AM on a Friday. I assume it will be almost 6AM before I'm in a taxi. What (or a better question is Who) is there to do at 6AM? Can I even check into a hotel this early? My first instinct is to go for a ST room at a Sogo or Victoria Court type of property (doesn't even need to be in Pasay City), but where / can I find a girl at this time in the morning? Sex, food and sleep. That's what I'll need after stepping off the plane.

Worst case, if I'm considering a trip to AC later in the following week, do I just buck up now and go from the airport to a bus to AC? Ugh, if this was Costa Rica I'd know exactly what, and who, to do!

Any suggestions you can offer are much appreciated guys. Patience is not my strong suit and waiting several hours to experience the heaven that is a filipina (see, I've been reading! ) won't go over well with my 'boys'.

I was in the PI for work in November and spent 5 days in Manila. Did not venture in the Makati area beyond work since I dont like the concept and prices there.

Spent time (and had fun and girls) in the Ermita area at the usual bars extensively discussed in this Forum so not much to ad. Only to emphasize again how crowded LA can get and the fact that I always experienced very good music in most bars in the area.

What I d like to actually ad is that I have ventured to the bustling nightlife area of Malate further out from Ermita for which I have read next to nothing in the Forum and I think it definitely deserves more attention. Beyond the fact that I found it the most lively and pleasant area in town, there are dozens of bars and clubs whith plenty of willing freebies and many students (got lucky with one implying i ll be staying long in town shame on me) as well as passing by many apparent hostess bars or bars that seem that action was talking place. Only passed by 2 nights there but I m sure it s worth further exploring, especially from the ones living there.

There are apparently various limousine services that will get you there most any time of the day as long as they know to expect you at the airport.

What I'm going to suggest here is how to make the best of the Manila scene early in the morning. I suspect the only mongering site open at that time in the morning is LA Cafe. It is open 24 hurs, and, amazingly, there are usually freelancers there at that time. Make reservations at one of the hotels near LA Cafe and communicate in advance with them so they know to hold a room for you for a 6:30 am arrival. Since checkout time for these places is usually noon, they will charge you a full night's tab even though you use the place less than six hours. X Man had a good posting recently in the Manila hotels thread about lots of hotels in the Ermita area with contact numbers and some web addresses. I and others have also posted information with other hotel details recently. I know that Executive Plaza and maybe a couple others have special shuttle service from the cab stand at the airport, and when you check in with them at the airport they'll call ahead to the hotel to let them know you're enroute.

It'll take about 20-30 minutes by cab from the airport to the Ermita area. If you check into the hotel first, you can make a spontaneous decision about whether you need sleep more than sex. If the latter is the order of the morning, walk the three blocks or so over to LA Cafe and scope out the array of available freelancers. I left a long post in Dragan Slayer's forum about a week ago that describes exactly what to expect at LA. Lots of guys have posted information about usual prices. If you see something you like, take her back to the hotel room and check out the bed springs.

If, on the other hand, you decide you need sleep, just set the alarm for noon or so and head for LA Cafe when you get up. Lots of places to eat in the Ermita area. Mostly not high end places, but passable. There are also a few familiar name Western fast food places.

It's only about seven blocks one way by nine blocks the other. Malate is the area immediately South of Ermita. Ermita is essentially a red-light district; this is where LA Cafe is located, Amazonia, G-Point, several other mongering bars and karaoke joints, and the mongering hotels that X Man and others have described. Malate is a night club district, although there are elements of both types of activity in both neighborhoods. Pedro Gil is the dividing line between Ermita and Malate. Remedios Circle, about three blocks South of Pedro Gil is sort of center ground for nightclubs in the Malate area. The Circle is at the intersection of Remedios Avenue and M. Adriatico. About another four blocks further South, between Adriatico and Mabini, is Harrison Plaza, a rundown mall that seems to have independents hanging out looking to get picked up.

I arrive on the same flight. i check into my hotel near Bourgous and walk down the street. There are girls. some are getting off shift. Some have been up all night. Pick up a couple. If you pay more than 1000 you got ripped off. They have no other choice. it is 6 AM and it ain't lik ther are 50 other guys hanging around.

Just North of Matrix are your walkers. The corner of Burgous and Kallian are your pick up vans that take the girls to their boarding houses. A van full of fun to pick from.

PAL has his own terminal, its both, its for international flights and also for domestic flights. Its much better then the old NIA terminal and much faster in evrything, no hustlers on crs like in the international terminal, funny.....

I took PAL 2 weeks ago from Bangkok and I was very happy with their service, specially check in and imigration were superfast...I gues after 10 minutes wehn we land I was out of the terminal with imigration and my luggage.

I had read your previous post about the CGS, but wasn't sure if 6AM is pushing it for an early check in. In most places I've traveled, they are fairly firm (in the nicer hotels) about not checking in before noon, or at least charging for the previous night if they do.

Any safety issues to consider if walking from, say, G Point Bar to Remedios Circle at day or night?

Not a "dangerous" area to walk around but as ANYWHERE use big city common sense, do NOT change money or gamble with ANYBODY, and only carry what you can afford to lose. The street urchins, porn and Viagra sellers are annoying but harmless. Ignore them.

While Koreans and Japanese are the primary clientele in Malate, unlike in Japan or Korea (or even Soi Thaniya in BKK), non Asians will usually be entertained.

I think the earlier poster meant that Ermita / LA Cafe was "central" and Malate was an outlying area from there (esp. if you are on foot).

The most dangerous thing I've encountered in these areas are the fkd up drivers and a different kind of danger -- the billy boys / tranvestites. I'd also pay attention when the kids gather around you asking for money. Never had a problem,but I keep my hand on my wallet. If you want to be a nice guy, buy some food and give it to them. I never give kids money. I assume most of them are "employees".

There are some dark, quiet patches in between. Again, I've never been bothered but I tend to walk quickly and confidently in those areas. Obviously, if you are staggering around drunk you'll be a nice target.

Oh, and once in a while the money changers might try some tricks. Just use commons sense.

Thx again X, and Horny as well. I'm pretty experienced in traveling in sketchy areas, and follow all the rules (walk with confidence, look like a bad-ass, no flash, etc.). I just wanted to be sure someone with knowledge of this area didn't have a 'dude, there's a one block stretch where you'll be killed in a second' piece of advice for a newbie to the neighborhood.

They have the grill in your table where you can cook your own meat or seafood which is delicious. I suggest the Jrouse (imported lean beef, which costs about $10). You are right Malate is a good all around locations to stay in Manila I always stay there Pan pacific is a good hotel near LA cafe and the Hyatt casinos and all the good Chinese, Korean and Japanese resturant food is so cheap here even with the small portion you can hit the mall food court if you still hungry and get a quick meal for $3 USD at Kenny Roger Roaster and pick up a short time at the mall at the same time for $ 20 usd.

The MO seemed to be two guys on a loud, small motorcycle. The driver would drive very close to passersby, usually women but occasionally a man, and the passeger on the rear would snatch the pursestrap, camera strap, or whatever presented itself. The word was out among the girls at LA Cafe, and most were appropriately worried. One of my favorites lost her purse containing 10,000 pesos -- which she'd carried to do Christmas shopping at Robinson's Place -- this way. Violent crime against foreigners is not common and the street punks will not want to mix it up with foreigners (especially if you are not alone). Most cops, especially in areas frequented by foreigners, have been told by their bosses to come down hard on those attacking foreigners (foreign image of PI is VERY important to the elites). It's possible the military security people detailed there stay in the embassy, but most of the professional staff live in a separate compound a couple miles away. (If you're military and been assigned there, lucky you.) There are, however, a number of reasonable hotels within a couple blocks of the embassy.

To get to LA Cafe from the embassy, cross Roxas Blvd. near the main visitor entrance of the embassy, then go keep going another block to the Northeast (away from Manila bay) to M. H. del Pilar. There might be an alley or two between Roxas and del Pilar, but not with any traffic to speak of. Turn right on del Pilar and walk about 4 blocks to LA Cafe, which is on the right at the corner of Romero-Salas. There are a bunch of sleazy looking money changing places and a few small clubs (including a couple with p4p ladies) in this stretch of del Pilar and you may get harrassed by guys trying to sell you belts, "rare" coins, viagra and cialis, wallets, etc. Don't do business with them, and keep your money concealed and covered.

You can't miss LA Cafe; it's all lit up with advertising signs. About a block earlier on a corner on the left side you will go past Amazonia, also a freelancer pickup bar.

Another route from the embassy is to just go South on Roxas (turn right after coming out the visitor gate) about the euqivalent of 4 blocks until you see a hotel called Boulevard Mansion across the street on the backside of the little frontage street. Romero-Salas is the next street to the left after Boulevard Mansion. The street is real narrow here, but when it widens after the chain link fence LA Cafe will be on your left. Actually, there's a little alley that runs behind LA Cafe, and over to the right of Romero-Salas along this alley is a little open air restaurant where the LA freelancers often eat and get away from the smoke in the club.

To get from LA to Robinson's Mall, go out the front door of LA and keep going up Romero-Salas two blocks. It dead ends against a new highrise apartment building. Turn left, go about 100 yards, and Robinson Mall is on your right.

Just wanted to say that I usually monger in China and this is my first trip to PI, Makati area is where we stayed. First couple of nights, it was hard getting adjusted to PI mongering, compared to China scene, where everything is pretty clean cut, no bargaining, and you pretty much know what you are buying without negotiating.

Friday and Saturday
Friday, the day of arrival, meet my friends that were in PI already and went to the Fort Bonifacio to watch friends play in a band. Did not get any action there, only non-wg there. Went to Asia Entertainment, and other bars in Roxas that night, but was to tired and headed back home. Saturday, went to Club Embassy in the Fort area, got no action there either. So we headed to Roxas Blvd, I just don’t like the fact that you need to do the deed in the establishment in one of the rooms that you need to rent. Think of a place with 400 girls, then imagine 30 of these places in this one town. All within walking distance. It is more guaranteed and the price structure is fixed in all establishment. No hassle and no negotiating. The hotels are also way cheaper than PI, and are of way better quality. The girls in general are alittle cheaper, more beautiful, and younger in China than in PI. The bad thing about China is that there is nothing to do during the day, except get massages or footies. And no one speaks English, but you may run into a WG that does.

Daytime activities in PI are way more fun and enjoyable. Plus everyone speaks English. Many of these places are catered to foreigners and there a lot of malls with lots of activities, such as shopping, eating, movies, ice skating, billiards, bars, TGI Fridays, Hard Rock Café, etc… Very modern Americanized planned community/development city Fort Bonifacio, has USA like condos, strip malls, clubs, restaurants, schools, hospitals, etc…

So PI is a great place, and has advantages over other places. Has the bars and go go dancing like Thailand. USA malls, communities, activities, etc. Everyone speaks English. And I feel the food is better than in China. Might be a retirement destination for me.

Literally everything (malls, bars, restaurants, transport etc) closed for Good Friday and Easter Saturday and I seem to recall things partly reopened on the Sunday or Monday. Manila was a ghost town. Cannot recall if LA Cafe and other bars stayed open but if they did they would have been dead as most girls revert to being good Catholic daughters at Easter and attend mass or as you say return to their families. Maybe AC will be closest to normal, as ac is NEVER normal, but as a general rule there is no better week to avoid the PI than Holy week. This is true in all Christian countries but even more so in PI. 95%+ of Filipinos go on vacation that week. Not ONLY is there the issue of mongering places being closed a problem, but flights and hotels are ALWAYS overbooked, traffic is horrendous even by PI standards and those with a limit to their tolerance of all things Catholic will feel like Michael Douglass in that movie where he gets stuck in the traffic jam and then just flips out.

from reading some of the field reports on this excellent punting site, i am aware that there are some adventurous souls out there, who, like me, like to walk on the wild side now and then. that is to abandon the tried and tested venues in ermita, pasay (edsa compex) and makati and experiment with the local scene in cubao, pasay and quiapo. it can be a bit more hit and miss, a little more dangerous (which adds to the excitement and this is after all an adventure, contact sport) but the rewards can be that much greater.

of all the local punting options, quiapo is my favourite. the area in question is centred around carriedo street extending as far as rizal avenue and recto avenue. during the american colonial era carriedo street was the top shopping street in manila but with the construction of lrt 1 this area slid rapidly and is now quite run down. the overhead lrt trap the dust and smog and it is dirty and gloomy 24/7. lim tried to resurrect the area a few years back by pedestranising carriedo but it didn’t invigorate the area that much and it was abandoned last year (why oh why do they always fuck up like this in the philippines – spend public money on a great cosmetic projects and then abandon or neglect them soon after – take baywalk as a prime example).

during the day the area has much going for it. there is a great street market, quiapo church (famous for the black nazarene) and chinatown (with some excellent dining options) and intramurus nearby. but its when the market vendors pack up and go home and the streets are given over to night pursuits that the area really comes to life.

as it is a local scene, entertainment venues are largely of the dreaded karaoke variety but there are also disco’s and plenty of pretty nifty cafes where you can grab a beer and watch life dance by and chat up the bargirls (all available). there is a big disco nearby (can’t remember the name but it has chicks in it) which is a local pick up joint but it is dark inside and you can’t make out the quality (or not) of the offered ‘chicks’.

there are also upstairs joints with dodgy looking geezers outside trying to entice you in but i’m not brave enough for them! there are i’m reliably informed literally dozens of casas in the area but again i have no experience of these.

the quality of the available girls in all these various joints varies considerably. there are plenty of clapped out dogs, a large selection of middling lookers, a la la café types and a smaller sprinkling of real honeys. these tend to be young, fresh faced lasses straight from the farms of visayas and mindanao. you can bar fine girls and the amount varies from place to place, varying from p100-200 to p500 or more. i suppose it depends on what the mama/papasan thinks he can get out of you. outside, particularly on carriedo, there is plenty of street action but here you have to be particularly careful as there are an awful lot of **** girls out there trolling for custom (i don’t know if its true but i was told that this is because the area is close to chinatown and chinese filipinos are partial to chickens as it keeps them young). however you can find plenty of really tasty, legal age tarts and the good news is, although they will initially ask for more, they are all available for p500 st. don’t pay any more as locals pay only p200-300. there are plenty of st hotels on and near carriedo including a sogo (outside where many girls hang). street action starts about ten but peaks between 11 and 2.

in many nighttime visits to this area, both alone and accompanied by local and visiting friends, i have only twice encountered fellow non filipino mongers. one was a german sailor off a visiting boat and the other a mad, elderly aussie who actually based himself in a local hotel while he trawled the local casas, liberally spreading his seed and looking for miss right whereupon he would whip her off to puerta galera to enjoy the rest of his holiday. worked for him so maybe he wasn’t as mad as he looked: d

On the other hand, a few earlier posts on this thread indicate you should go with the flow and just slip 2k into the gal's purse in the morning...assuming she stays that long.

There are a few possible problems you have: Makati Hotel (higher priced part of town)/ PI newbie / talking business instead of romance / hitting on light-skinned, young, cute types (East Asians target the same ones) or maybe you are just terribly butt ugly.

Well, of course it would work with the most of the girls. But, not necessarily with those girls I am looking for. To play the romantic card can work, but more for independent working girls. Such from the bars it's something different. There are still the high barfine. Well, Makati is a higher priced part of the town, that's right. PI newbie, no. I was already 3 times in the Philis and even when I wouldn't call me an expert, I think I am quite experienced. Ok, yesterday after I left the internet cafe I went back to LA Cafe. Didn't saw something interesting. So, I went back to Makati. On the way I stopped at 2 casas. The one had nothing interesting, the other had some pretty girls.

Yesterday, I went at the early night to EDSA International Entertainment Complex. Not much visitors compare to the hundreds of girls. According to this Univ of San Francisco study from May 2006, the average daily wage in the Philippines is 118 piso.

Lets round that up to 150 piso for today.

By asking for 3,500 piso barfines and another 3,000 piso tip for the girl (6,500) that equates to 43.3 times the average daily salary. Ok, now the girl doesn't keep the entire barfine. Lets say she only gets P500 making it P3,500 total take home cash for the girl. That is still 23.3 times the average daily salary.

Lets do a comparison based on the US minimum wage which is I think $5.85. Times that by 8 hours for a normal day and you get $46.80. Keep in mind, this is minimum wage which is lower than the average daily wage. This is what the illegals make. Now times that by 23.3 and you get $1,090.44. This is the equivalent of what these girls are brining home a night when they barfine at Burgos prices and does not even include their salary and juicy drinks.

Factor in the total price for the barfine and tip (43.3 times the average daily US salary of $46.80) and the cost of a Burgos barfine in the US would be $2,026.44. Now you see why the girls of Burgos and many of the bar owners are so desperate and pushy.

I'm all for folks making their coin, but I hate getting ripped off. And yes I know that the economics of the Phils allows us to do things there we'd never be able to do elsewhere but that's not a justifiable reason to allow yourself to be robbed. I also acknowledge that these girls should get more than the daily wages of the Philippines but should it be 23.3 times? To compare again, I paid $400 for a Top Shelf girl for the night from a strip bar in VA the last time I was in the states last year. This is only 8.54 times the average daily US salary ($46.80 remember) and is economically in-line with just about every place I've ever mongered. Some would argue that a Pinay deserves proportionally almost three times more than any North American working girl but that is a debate for another day.

Call me Cheap Charlie but I won't contribute to the extortion that goes on at Burgos. I'm just as happy at EDSA, the Ermita bars or the many diversions on Nakpil St. where the same fun can be had for one third the price. The Phils is a Third World country but the Burgos owners are charging fees that even outprice Japan once the local economic factors are broken down. I'm not surprised that their bars are now empty.

I think there somebars, beer bars , small ktv bars in the side street along the once you see at Roxas, but you shoudnt go alone there..or mabe not after midnight after u had consumed 12 beers :D..Go there with a fren maybe 6pm or 7pm and take a look at the scenery and if u feel comfortable..SOmetimes I just dont like the atmosphere, its more fun if you go to bars where foreigners go..but while you there and you adventures, why not give it a try..

if you like to spend more, you can allways go to Quezon city, along timog, quezon avenue many pinoy clubs. They have a fishbowl and you can chose the gurls, they have some really pretty ones, but beware also if they dressed to much :D, so you cant see their body..I would ask them if they have kids, single mom etc..same works for LA cafe...so you wont get disapointed next time.

agree, I was in Thailand last January and its the best place to screw different gurls and hotties in a certain time, The p4p industry is much better then in the Phils. There are some offices from cebu pacific all over the city, but usually there is a very very big crowd cause even philippean people know that they are cheap. I found a really big travel agency on roxas boulevard, maybe 300 meters down from bayview park hotel at the same side. Its a very big agency and they have international tickets too. Greetings one and all from Malate. Am here for a 5-day short stay as part of a larger Asia trip that also includes KL, Bangkok, Pattaya and Isaan. Budget is generally tight, but this sidetrip was made possible with low-cost carriers and the (now-expired) Orbitz $200-off-for-5-days deal from last summer. That deal dropped the cost for the Palm Plaza to $123 or so all-in for 5 nights, or around $25 nett/night.

Flew Air Asia from Kuala Lumpur to Clark. Very inconvenient departure time (7:20 a.m.) for the one flight, but fortunately the bus service from KL Sentral to the faraway airport runs all through the night. The plane was about 70% full and the fare (booked well in advance) an amazing $60 or so all-in for the nearly 4-hour flight. The bus service from Clark to Pasay (P350) worked pretty well, and then it was a taxi.

Didn't take long to see that the chemistry just seems to work better with Filipinas vs. Thais. I also like the pricing better, at least compared to Bangkok. Didn't even make it to L.A. Cafe the first night; found one at G-point (well, more like she found me, but she showed enough interest and enthusiasm to close the deal and didnt' seem to mind P700 ST).

Second night was at L.A. and surrounds. Tried the L.A. annex and ended up taking a 23-year-old who didn't seem polished at the game and wouldn't have made the grade most times because of feigning interest (failed the "kiss test" and indicators like that). Nice report ploughman - a man after my own heart! You have obviously refined the art of budget travel to a fine art. All it takes is a little pre-planning and a bit of internet research and you can save big bucks. I've used Air Asia many times and find they are OK and very reasonable. If you are returning to KL, you will have noted that the flight time is much more convenient in the early afternoon - just ideal if you are finishing the Philippine section of your trip in Angeles.

The present mayor and his administration are really fucking things up in Manila. They are continuing the age old Philippine habit of shooting the goose that laid the golden egg. Look at how they are neglecting the Baywalk area. A couple of years ago it was really rocking with great open air bars and restaurants with live music and it own low key security force on bikes and was really attracting the crowds including many tourists. Now the investment has been neglected, the security force gone and the place returning to seed with the return of indigents, pickpockets and beggars. It is now again a dangerous place again for tourists and locals alike.

You are doing great by not overpaying the girls but don't you think P500 fot ST is being a tad miserly? Mind you if she is happy with that who is to complain. For those who aren't abreast of Philippine news there's a major rumbling of discontent among many groups in RP over the likely involvement of President Arroyo's family and associates in an allegedly bribe-riddled deal with a Chinese group that was supposed to have built broadband networks to connect all levels of government in the country. Several mass protest gatherings have occurred at churches around the metro Manila area, but a very big protest is planned for this Friday (2/29) at the intersection of Paseo de Roxas Boulevard and Ayala Ave. In Makati. The city plans to block traffic on Ayala from Gil Puyat in the West to Makati Ave. In the East. All the traffic into this area will be rerouted around to the North on Gil Puyat Ave. And then back down Makati Ave.

If you had plans to be in the area, Friday would be a good day to make plans for EDSA or LA Cafe instead. Unless the thing fizzles out, which is unlikely, there will probably be huge crowds and traffic congestion extending into the Greenbelt and Glorietta mall area, and probably also affecting the high end hotels in the vicinity. Unfortunately, Makati Ave. Is the principal route for getting from these hotels to P. Burgos. The only upside: police manpower may be too strained to permit them to spend the day hassling freelancers on the street at P. Burgos.

If anybody decides to brave the area on Friday, please do give us a report.

This is my first contribution.

Travelling on business to Manila, I checked the opportunities. Being based somewhat far from Ermita/Makati and typically early to late in the office, my forum-related activities were restricted to a Friday and Saturday night. I checked the Havana at Greenbelt, but was disappointed. Lots of expats and (mixed) couples, but hardly any FLs, at least not before 10pm. There are VIP rooms at 1500 pesos, and a girl to join in the room is 1500 pesos for one hour, total 3000 per hour, apparently no holds barred. But she said that you must confirm with the girl what she will do for the money. Girls will sit with you at your table and talk for ladies drinks.

There is no barfine or take out system The girls work in the bar till it closes at 4am. There is no objection to negotiation with a girl for her to join you after, in fact the mamasans encourage it. She said that a girl would expect about 1500 pesos for long time, but prices are negotiable.

At the time we got there, about midnight, there was a line up on stage of 11 dancers, all pretty presentable, probably 7.5 to 9, different sizes and shapes. Some were completely covered for the whole time we were there, others completely nude, and others in between, some up front, a couple were shy, beginners.

At times, one dancer would start clothed, strip slowly, then finish up starkers flashing her **** at the guys in the audience. There was quite a lot of action, guys calling down girls for drinks, three or four VIP rooms occupied, quite a money spinner.

From reading some of the field reports on this excellent punting site, I am aware that there are some adventurous souls out there, who, like me, like to walk on the wild side now and then. That is to abandon the tried and tested venues in Ermita, Pasay (EDSA Compex) and Makati and experiment with the local scene in Cubao, Pasay and Quiapo. It can be a bit more hit and miss, a little more dangerous (which adds to the excitement and this is after all an adventure, contact sport) but the rewards can be that much greater.

Of all the local punting options, Quiapo is my favourite. The area in question is centred around Carriedo Street extending as far as Rizal Avenue and Recto Avenue. During the American colonial era Carriedo Street was the top shopping street in Manila but with the construction of LRT 1 this area slid rapidly and is now quite run down. The overhead LRT trap the dust and smog and it is dirty and gloomy 24/7. Lim tried to resurrect the area a few years back by pedestranising Carriedo but it didn’t invigorate the area that much and it was abandoned last year (why oh why do they always fuck up like this in the Philippines – spend public money on a great cosmetic projects and then abandon or neglect them soon after – take Baywalk as a prime example).

During the day the area has much going for it. There is a great street market, Quiapo Church (famous for the Black Nazarene) and Chinatown (with some excellent dining options) and Intramurus nearby. But its when the market vendors pack up and go home and the streets are given over to night pursuits that the area really comes to life.

Accompanied by knowledgable Filipino friends I've mongered in Pasay, Quiapo and Cubao but I know there are lots of other places in Quezon, Marakina, Las Pina, Paranaque (not the overpriced and overated AF1) etc that would be worth a visit.

Carriedo Street is the place to start. You could take a taxi or use the LRT Line 1 to Carriedo which is right above Carriedo St.

Place is definately worth a scouting trip but I believe things have changed a bit since my last visit. Asshole Lim has apparently de-pedestrianised Carriedo which is a bit of a shame but probably hasn't affected the late night P4P scene.

Attached a little map drawn from my increasingly enfeebled memory so don't rely on it too much. But might be of use.

If you do happen to get down there please post a report. I've had some great nights there and hope to have some more in the future and would be interested to hear of any changes. Also remember its local prices down there so P500-800 ST is the norm and locals don't even pay that!

Yeah I've noticed loads of available pussy near Taft Station. There are loads of ST hotels in the vicinity which is a hint in itself. If you cross over the intersection towards Baclaran Street Market you will invariably get approached by pimps touting their girls. Had a look once but quality wasn't that high. MTC can be a great place to get information. I've been a member since 2002 and met a few ladies during my frequent visits to Manila.
When it comes to what they like to call the PSP's (Personal Service Provider) is that they used to have charge a fee of about php 1000 before they became members and introduced to MTC. NOW - when many of them are members, they have set up their own webpages at friendster, picture trail, rare escorts and so on, and they charge php 3000 and upwards for 2pops/3hours. This since they have learned from other socalled A-class/High class PSP's. It is totally BS charging such fees. I got to the Oxford Suites last night at midnight after a two-hours flight delay. Burgos--which I do not much like--was hopping right along, though I didn't go into any of the bars and never do. However, it's totally safe at any hour of the day or night, and you will have no worries. The taxi to EDSA will take, as George said, 10 minutes or maybe slightly longer, and it will be wide open as will all of Ermita and Malate, which are only another 15 minutes by taxi from EDSA. The night scene in Manila doesn't close down until the late part of the the early morning and LA Cafe never closes, so you will not be at any loss for something to do.

Okay, guys, I screwed it up this time.

Hate to break it to ya but manila is the most expensive P4P in the Phils.
Any commercial P4P places are going to be way out of your price range except the local casa's which I don't recommend.
By the time you get to a hotel secure your gear & freshen up its getting on to 0300hrs.
There are some 'dine-in' places located just outside the airport but they are not cheap. Read/Search the forum about Air force One for example.
Due to time pressures, your best bet may be book a Hotel on P.Burgos in Makati, & pick up a SW from there or a a BG on her way home after work at 3.30am.
If you must have a shag with the least hassle it may be just better to just swallow your pride & pay what ever the going price is in a bar. Better have plenty of money ready...

Why do you have to stay near the airport? I recommend you get a hotel in Malate, near LA Cafe and just walk there. I think you can be in your hotel in an hour and a half easy after landing at that time. Go to LA Cafe and get something nice to stay with you overnight for your 2000 pesos, maybe 2500. Upstairs usually has the better talent, some only go with Korean and Japanese, but not all. There might be some new yellow metered taxis at the airport now when you leave arrivals which wasn't the case before.

La Café

I know a lot has been written on LA Café in Malate, but I thought I’d give you guys my take on it. I’ve lived in Manila now for 9 months and LA Café is one of the most fun bars I’ve ever been in. It is certainly one of my all-time favorites. The process of "picking up" girls there is mostly an illusion, but it is still a helluva lot of fun.

The bar itself is quite large with first and second floors that are each split into multiple connecting rooms. The downstairs is open 24 hours a day and the upstairs from 9pm until 6am. Downstairs can be a little shady and the girls there are much more aggressive and in my opinion, not as good-looking as the ones upstairs. But if you are looking for bargains and you don’t mind a little skank appeal, then this where you ought to start. Personally, I just wait till 9 and pay the P100 entrance fee for upstairs. There is usually a very good band playing up there and usually many pretty Filipinas. Beer is comparatively cheap and there are 4 pool tables upstairs (some downstairs too.) I’m pretty picky, but if I hang out there for a couple of hours shooting pool and listening to the band, there is a high likelihood of me finding a girl I just won’t be able to say no to.

One of the things I’ve just started doing is going there with a friend and renting a pool table (P250) then walking around the upstairs and find 2 likely prospects each and then take them back to the pool table to drink some pitchers of beer. It’s usually very cool to hang out with these girls. If not, no problem, just pick some new ones. After a while I know which girl is more into me and I’ll usually choose that one to take home. I’ve found I almost always have more fun with the girl who likes me more, even if the other one is more attractive. You probably will have to approach the girl (s) you are interested in here. That is part of the charm of the place. Some girls may approach, but not likely the one you want, so get up and go talk to her. The chances of her being receptive are very high, though not quite 100%.

It is possible to get a no from these girls, especially the hotter ones, because they can also choose and will discriminate if they think you are not up to par. Just be charming and get her smiling and this probably won’t be an issue. Make sure you kiss her at some point and can see that she is into that. If she won’t kiss you, you will wind up with some kind of trouble even if she goes home with you (this applies to working girls anywhere.) If that happens, I’ll give her another P500 but not more, but explain that my repeat prices for next time, should there be one, is P1500. I let the girl decide whether to spend the night or not, but I do offer it. Sometimes they will, sometimes not, it depends on the girl, how much they like you, time of night, etc. We will exchange numbers, and more often than not I will see her again. She’s more likely to spend the night the second time around.

If you want to get laid in the middle of the day, this bar is a good choice, although only the downstairs will be open. You should try it during the day also. You might find a keeper and will surely get some laughs if you have a sense of humor. Don't say I didn't warn you about the downstairs, the girls there are hungry!

The overall quality of the girls (I’m talking upstairs, downstairs is lesser quality) is not as good as the Burgos bars or even the EDSA bars, but there are SO many girls there (several hundred throughout the bar) that you are likely to find one you think is very good, especially if you hang out there a while. I’ve taken home girls from there that I thought were extremely beautiful. Also had some that only barely passed my looks requirements, but were so much fun and lively and nice to me, that they were also more than worth it.

Just tell the cab driver to take you to LA Café in Malate. Most of them will know how to get there. If not, get another cab or you will probably get lost. Leaving can be a trip, because very pushy panhandlers and druggies will try to get you to tip them for getting a cab and can be very aggressive. Just push past them. Beware of having your taxi pulled over by the cops, which just happened to me, and shaken down. If it happens be sure and tell them (or have her tell them) that she is your girlfriend and you are coming from Cowboy Grill. NEVER tell them you are coming from LA Café. That worked for me and now I take a different route out of there than the main one. Try it and I think you will like it as much as I do. Great report on LA Cafe by Pthalo. It is in the Ermita area, btw. Malate is just a few blocks to the south.

I have found 3-somes to be pretty easy to get here and very worthwhile. However, if the girls being bi-sexual is important to you (it isn't for me) then that could take a little more work, but is still very possible.

Also your not getting eyeballed by 20+ starers on each passing jeepney whilst awaiting your cab (always have a paranoic fear of been seen by someone I know from my non-mongering life). the cops want a bribe. they set up these "checkpoints" during the hours when it's time to take the girls back to the room. you notice, they have it at the places where all the taxis drive by. what they are looking for is id....if you or the girl does not have an id card, then they will take you to jail. you end up paying a bribe to be released. always carrry an id with you. if the girl does not have one, they will threaten to take her to jail and of course, you end up paying a bribe.

( i live in makati ) i insist and demand he follow my directions. works every time, there is no checkpoints in that direction and it always costs me less than 100 pesos to my home.

If you want to stay within walking distance and have the dosh, the Diamond Hotel is 5star. Most guests are Japanese or Korean. The Executive Plaza, same block as Las Palmas, is about $50 and is fine but many rooms are noisy. The Cherry Blossoms in only a couple blocks further and is both cheaper and quieter.

If the girl complains about walking (many do), I find just saying "OK we'll pay the taxi from your tip" increases their enthusiasm for going as a pedestrian.

Play the game they play.Manila Traffic cops are the best that money can buy! Must admit that I've been lucky and have yet to be stopped by them. May be because I drive a battered old van and they don't expect to see a foreigner driving such a vehicle. I was always extra careful near NAIA as this is a favourite haunt for bent traffic cops (they like to stop and shake down returning OFW's). A lot of times they are not really cops but uniformed civilian traffic enforcers who are really only there to try and keep the traffic flowing.

Couple of times I've been stopped in Las Pinas by these assholes. Both times it was because I was out driving on colour coded day, a stupid regulation that prohibits use of your vehicle at certain times on one day a week and dependant on your reg no. Both times a bribe of a couple of hundred pesos solved the problem.

Its easy getting a Philippine driving license (no test involved although you need a drugs test for some reason). But you are best having a Filipino along to help with the paperwork and greasing the right palms. All you need is your national license and some patience. With the help of a relative (who an expert fixer as many Filipinos are) it took about 2 hours and I had my cute blue license which you can use as ID in lieu of your passport.

For a short time, the best way to avoid those asshole cops is to just tell the girl to meet you at Sogo Hotel. It's a nice hotel....clean, safe, and just a few blocks away. Give her 50 pesos. Sogo caters to the short-timers. The cops won't mess with someone alone in a cab. I think it's only about 400 pesos at Sogo.

Speaking as an expat who used to live in Manila & still visits frequently from elsewhere n the Phils I would advise if you're a tourist and going to be spending a significant amount of time on LA Cafe I would suggest avoid the whole taxi thing & get a hotel within walking distance. Yes I know all *****s world wide are born lame but thats their problem. There are _plenty_ of nice hotels nearby.
Emrita/Malate is pretty low rent. If you have your wits about you & a clear head its safe enough but don't walk long distances at night, ever.
It has been known for the cops to stand right outside the front door LA Cafe & accost guys leaving with chicks. You can try to bluff your way out of it but i suggest you don't try getting cute with the cops, they hold all the aces. If caught in a compromising situation like this, keep your mouth shut, smile & hope your girl will stick up for you / be quick on her feet with an explanation. Name dropping helps, sometimes when experiencing a 'problem' I mentioned that maybe I should ring my friend 'Judge L***' or somebody but if you're just in town for a short time as a tourist how likely is it that you're gonna remember a name under pressure?
I strongly recommend that you DO NOT carry important documents like passport around with you. Its probably better to pay a small amount with an apology for the 'misunderstanding' n your part than get dragged into a cell & face really big cost's. Better to avoid in the first place. Check the exit before your leave or arrange to leave separately & meet up. frankly I cant be bothered with all this but those with a lot of time on their hands must think its ok hang out in FL bars like this.. If you are gonna try different areas maybe move to a hotel near to EDSA bars spend time there & then move to a hotel near to Burgos & sample the delights there next. Nothing beats having a hotel within walking distance of a mongering area.

Driving in Manila
The only times my vehicle has been stopped was for a 'legitimate' offense by my driver. In this case I let the driver sort it out with the goons & stay out of it. For reasons of prestige my pinay wife insisted on owning a luxury car here which sat in a garage most of the time here except when we asked one of our staff to drive us to a nice restaurant or some important meeting. Its much easier to grab a cab. They (usually) are nice & very helpful.
Why any expat would bother self driving in Manila is completely beyond me. Traffic is horrendous & parking is practically non existent. A collision will require you to be fully insured & ready to stand your ground if its not your fault. Either way you will be in for significant delays as you get dragged back to the police station to wait for your insurance coverage to come to your rescue.

I think you underestimate how much more you know about what's what and what's where in Manila as compared to average mongers, and you overestimate how much individual hotel staff members know about where things are and how much they should cost. Taxi meters appear to run on some combination of mileage and time. This makes it very difficult to estimate what the fare ought to be, not only because many mongers don't know how far it is from point a to point z, but they also have no idea whether heavy traffic is going to bring the cab to a standstill at particular times in the day and particular parts of the metro area.

I found that after a few months navigating about I knew more about getting around in some areas of metro Manila than did locals who have lived here all their lives. I happen to have a very good sense of direction, attention to detail, and a good Citiatlas map. But most Filipinos don't own cars. You know that as well as anybody. Their only experience in cars is when they occasionally ride in a taxi or an employer-owned car. So some hotel employees will tell you what a ride ought to cost and may occasionally be right. Others will tell you a price that's inaccurate because they don't know but want to please by giving some sort of answer.

Your experience, wisdom, and confidence in getting around in PI is commendable, but it doesn't transfer very well to newbie or occasional visitors. Taxi meters are useful for newbies. You've accused me of stinginess in the past; I don't need the sensation of you pissing in my pocket to know what's going on.

AVGood advice Amavida, I think that Manila taxi drivers are unfairly demonised and those assholes who sit outside bars etc probably deserve it but the average working joe taxi driver is, like you say, just trying to earn a crust and is basically honest and decent. They work incredibly long hour, something like 16-18 hour days and earn peanuts so don't be mean with your tips guys.

One thing that amuses me with taxi drivers is that you can 99% guarantee that the first words out of their mouths after you tell them your destination will be "Oooh traffic". Guaranteed every time. They will use their meters (it is after all the law, hahaha) but they will normally ask for 100-150 pesos over the meter price so it sometimes better to prearrange a fare before you get in.

Also remember that their knowledge of Manila is somewhat rudimentary at best (their is no 'knowledge' tests here) so it helps if you have some idea of how to get where your going, just in case your driver gets lost! Don't laugh, it happens a lot. I love driving in Manila, its a real adrenalin rush and you need eyes in the side as well as the back of your head. Indicators. What the fuck are they for. Hazard lights. Great at New Year or when your feeling happy. Carve me up. Please do. I love it. I'll do it to you first chance I get. I keep reading these posts and trying to relate to them, but I cannot. I've lived here now for five years and I get to Manila from Davao about twice a month on average. I've probably been to LA 100 times, and never once have I experienced any of the shake down hassles related by people herein. I've asked my expat friends, many of whom live in Manila (some for upwards of 20 years) and they've never experienced these hassles either. Maybe it's just good karma, or maybe we all just have the common sense to avoid confrontation. Whatever the case, I look at this whole debate as a massive over reaction to an unlikely occurance. My advice? Do not get up tight before the fact. If, by chance, you do get stopped, keep cool and do not get worried.

As to the taxis, I've not had much of a problem there either and I've taken hundreds of taxis in Manila. If one guy refuses to use the meter, as sometimes happens, and if this worries you, then get out of the taxi and get another. If the driver says "Up to you," then pay what you think is fair and don't back down.

Most Filipinos are pleasant people and they're not out to bust your balls. Lay back and enjoy what the country has to offer and don't come here assuming that everyone is out to rip you off.

Exactly so. This is how locals go about it, they haggle the fare before the journey. The fare is always more than the meter. Getting into punch ups over a few bucks is crazy IMHO but to each his own....

Im my experience, YES its for real BUT you have a choice to be REALLY upfront about your carnal intentions before meeting them at the risk of burning a prospect or you can go along with the dating scenario & charm your way into their pants. if you're gonna play coy & go with the dating scenario then how you conduct yourself when you meet them will be the make or break.

While we are on the topic of taxis, I would agree that I never had any problem with any of the cab rides I took in Manila. I must have taken a hundred cab rides. Occasionally the cabbie would "forget" to turn on the meter but would always do so when reminded. If a cabbie was reluctant to go somewhere because traffic, too far, etc, we would just offer to pay 100 or 200 P above the meter, no problem. Or just grab a different cab. Cabs are cheap and convenient, they are definitely the way to go in Manila.

The only problem I would have is that in some of the cabs, the AC would not work. They would claim it works and crank the fan, but it had the effect of a hairdryer on high. So if heat ain't your thing, check the coolness of the interior before hopping in.

Sadly, my GF got scammed at the airport. We took a cab from Makati to the airport, cheap, only 200 pesos or less. We had our tearful good-bye. Some female tout in front of the terminal convinces her to get in her “airport taxi” for the ride back, which was just a private car. They give her a ride back to Makati and demand 1500 P!!! F#$K! She had no choice but to pay because her bag was in the trunk. I was surprised and saddened that she would get ripped off in this way. I had read in Lonely Planet to stay away from these touts, but even locals can get scammed.

Anyway, the regular cabs seem OK. The doorman at the good hotels will tell the cabbie where you are going and give you a slip of paper with the cab’s number on it in case of problems.

Regular cabs are not allowed in front of the airport terminal except to drop off passengers, so your best bet on arrival is the “coupon taxi”. Just find the office just to the left as you exit NAIA 2 terminal. You tell them your destination, they give you a paper which tells you how much it will cost, and you head to the airport taxis, you pay the cabbie on drop-off the pre-fixed cost, which as i recall is about 350 P or so to Makati/Manila.

Ignore the touts trying to sell you a ride in front of the terminal! Do not get into a private car!

With regards to taxi fares, watch the driver when he starts the meter after you get in. Most of them are honest and will only hit the start button once which at that time was a p35 minimum. A couple of them thought I wasnt looking and hit it twice which started the meter at double rate of p70. I called them out on it and left the cab. I normally tip an honest one p100 so it wasnt as much a money issue with me as it was a matter of principle.

Maybe I have just had bad luck over the years but they seem to make it a challenge to get from one place to another. I actually plan my visits around avoiding/minimizing the use of cabs.

Last week I arrived a the airport with two large bags. I struggled mightily to put the bags in the cab - the driver never left his seat. As soon as I sat down he asked me how much of a tip I was going to give him. I politely explained a tip is given for good service and “as you did not even get up to help me with my bags none.”

The next day I had to hail five cabs before I could get one that would use the meter.

In front of the LA Café they wanted 300-400p for a 75p trip.

The day I was leaving the cabbie ran out of gas about 2 klicks from the airport. Can you imagine, a cab driver running out of gas. I told him he should consider another profession.

Yes, I have experienced the occasional nice guy who is just making a living, however, my experience is they are far and few between.

i'm not on a mission to defend taxi drivers. they annoy me as much as others, particularly the way they hike their fares when its pissing down or when they hum and harr as to whether to take you or not, particularly if you live somewhere out of their normal comfort zone of operation, like i do. but its a buyers market and if i don't like their attitude, i tell them to move on, knowing theres another one right behind.

i sometimes, when i'm feeling adventurous or not in the mood to dicker with taxi drivers and travelling alone, use the air con fx share taxi's that are as ubiquitous as jeepneys. they can be a bit of a squeeze (they carry a max of 10 pax) but are a great way of getting up close and personal with local folk and its a good way of meeting normal girls. when you have her leg draped over yours and one of her tits almost in your hand its easy to extend the intimacy. and for reason of security, it seems that you get a higher ratio of females to males using fx's. but of course you have to know where you are going and are able to understand the, sometimes esoteric, route signs.

Sorry to hear about your gf being ripped off at the airport. It just illustrates the point that it is not only tourists and foreigners that get ripped off by these sharks.

Unfortunately there appears to be a taxi cartel in operation at the airport and IMHO it is a national disgrace that tourists arriving in the Philippines get such poor first impression of the country. It used to be the same at the old Don Muang airport in Bangkok until the goverment cleaned up their act. Even the coupon taxi's are ridiculously overpriced. An even crazier scheme is that they actual charge admission to the arrival area for relatives/friends wishing to meet arriving passengers. Is there any other airport in the world what does that? I know of none. Its only 50 pesos or so but that is a lot for the average Filipino.

The only way to beat the taxi mafia only works if you travel light. This is to walk down the ramp 200 metres towards Sucat Road. Once you are beyond the security gate you can pick up an empty cab leaving departures who is usually only too pleased to have a fare and will use their meter. But is it worth the effort to save 5 bucks? Probably only if your highly principled, a backpacker or a Yorkshireman (like me).

Your comments are exactly why we shouldn't pooh-pooh the complaints of some mongers who report taxi problems. There's substantial wisdom in what you offer here as background (deviant behavior is more likely near mongering sites) and advice (don't put up with violators), and this wisdom was acquired over time.

I have taken perhaps 15 to 20 cab rides in the metro area, and the majority of drivers were courteous, friendly, and professional. But when I first arrived in Manila I received a sort of cultural orientation from a professional Philippine organization with ties to the U.S. Embassy. They warned us about taxi scams. This wasn't like exaggerated U.S. Embassy warnings to avoid Mindanao; this was Filipinos telling us they considered it a problem. Among other things they told us where to look for the meter, and that a large orange sticker on the passenger side of the windshield means the meter had been officially inspected recently. (Don't know if that's still the color to look for) This information may have biased me mentally to think of taxis as a problem, but it also caused me to be a more informed consumer, and so I probably minimized the likelihood of problems because I knew what to look for. Even so, I did have two experiences (so roughly 10-15% of my cab rides) in which the driver tried to rip me off. Were the amounts involved large? No, the total ripoff, had I not circumvented the larger of the two, would have been about 12 USD. But if I'm going to decide how to spend 500 pesos, I'd prefer to use it to upgrade a p4p lady from ST to LT rather than a dishonest cabbie.

I think it's not good advice to newbies to provide whitewashed accounts about taxis, nor should impressions created on the basis of one or two bad experiences necessarily prevail. I think you've offered good advice here, as have others. Even though some insist that they've never had problems, my own experiences lead me to believe some of the reports of bad experiences are also valid. The sum result of this dialogue has been the sharing of a lot of advice and a balanced discussion that would not have occurred if nobody had raised the issue in the first place.

Honestly Bill I can't relate to this. I live in the Phils & I will grant you that you will have an occasional bad experience. I strongly suspect you tried to bypass the coupon taxi's, which are clean courteous, honest & instead tried to catch a street taxi lurking there. Bad Idea. Better way to go is to use a coupon taxi to your hotel then use street taxi's from then on. Or if you have a longish trip, say for instance Quezon city, then take a coupon taxi to pasay & then hail a street cab for the remainder of the trip. A westerner with travel bags is a flag for crooks.

Last month I flew into Manila via PAL. I never flew into that terminal. I was worried about finding a metered taxi in that terminal since I've never been to that one before. I saw a metered taxi sign and was kind of confused because I thought there were no metered taxis at arrivals. The taxis were brand new and yellow. I think the meter started at 70 pesos and went along pretty normal. I was told by the driver that he was new and so was the taxi service. Apparently they are supposed to only pick up at the airports and their shifts were 24 hours long. It worked out fine for me. We'll have to see if they do ok and survive, but they do have a stream of constant traffic from the airport.

..The only way to beat the taxi mafia only works if you travel light. This is to walk down the ramp 200 metres towards Sucat Road. Once you are beyond the security gate you can pick up an empty cab leaving departures who is usually only too pleased to have a fare and will use their meter...Honestly GH Its a hassle to try to walk out of NAIA on a good day & at night or in rainy season i personally dont think its worth the discomfort/danger.
So my suggestion try take a coupon taxi to a nearby destination & then switch to a street taxi. Bearing in mind the small change we are talking about I just get a coupon taxi to the hotel. If you have family/GF with you they will appreciate it.

Local people transfer from Arrivals to Departures at Terminal 2 (Philippine Air, Domestic and International). Just go up one level, and find an arriving taxi there, using the meter of course. My advice is to take a taxi ride to Coastal (pesos 70 to 100) for further bus connections. I do not have experience with the other NAIA terminals, but I can imagine it is worth wile trying there too. More in general I always go from Arrivals to Departures, e.g. on Bkk Suvarnabhumi airport and KL International Airport. Lower taxi fares guaranteed!

Had a gal meet me at Cafe Havana, same thing happened to her. It was a meter deal, however, when she went to get out he tried to charge her 800 pesos. Luckily she had no luggage.

Being a feisty gal she immediately got out of the cab, took the guys license plate and suggested she call the police and have them settle the matter. The cabbie saw the wisdom on just settling the matter.

She came into the Cafe and said to me: "I don't believe it, I'm Filipino and they tried to rip me off."

Sorry to hear about your gf being ripped off at the airport. It just illustrates the point that it is not only tourists and foreigners that get ripped off by these sharks.

Unfortunately there appears to be a taxi cartel in operation at the airport and IMHO it is a national disgrace that tourists arriving in the Philippines get such poor first impression of the country. It used to be the same at the old Don Muang airport in Bangkok until the goverment cleaned up their act. Even the coupon taxi's are ridiculously overpriced. An even crazier scheme is that they actual charge admission to the arrival area for relatives/friends wishing to meet arriving passengers. Is there any other airport in the world what does that? I know of none. Its only 50 pesos or so but that is a lot for the average Filipino.

I have recently read the last year's worth of reports on Bangkok and Manila. The reason is that I have the opportunity to visit one or the other for a 72 hour stay next October (I am quietly tacking on a stay in one of these two cities as part of a business trip elsewhere). As I am making my plane reservations now, I am requesting that one (or more) of my ISG colleagues compare the mongering situation in these two cities for a short holiday.

Of course, everyone has different priorities. Some guys want the most inexpensive girls and the cheapest hotels. Others want model types and luxury accomodations. In general, I am not worried about an extra $20-$50 for a girl, but I see no reason to pay New York City prices if I am not in New York. I really like the availability of "non" or "semi" pros. The availability of English speaking girls is important to me, as I like to communicate with my ladies. Most importantly, which place is easier to have fun on such a short amount of time?

I'm not going to compare Bangkok and Manila. Based on what you said above speaking english and non or semi pros, I think Manila is the way to go easily. I think both places can be a lot of fun in a short amount of time. If I was staying longer, I might side with Bangkok, but I like the women and how they treat you better in the PI.

Forest, this is an endless debate with no correct answer, but I'll cite some of the more obvious differences and similarities. As to availability, there's not all that much difference, though Bangkok is more commercial, better organized and more in your face. However, the Philippines is more GFE (by a country mile), less nakedly mercantile and the girls are everywhere. You have more options for picking up freebies in the malls, the shopping centers and restaurants in Manila, but your not going to find the abundance of massage parlors here that you so there.

If you're interesting in a little more than pussy, that is, in things such as cultural richness and food, Bangkok wins hands down. It also wins in the "shopping" department and regarding general efficiency. The Philippines is a bit more off the wall and chaotic, that is, more anarchistic than Thailand.

In terms of English speaking skills, there's no contest. Most Filipinas speak at least some English and you will be able to communicate with them. Most Thai ladies that you will meet in the bars speak but a few words. The sex in Thailand is more cut and dried. You pay x, it buys you a certain amount of time, the girl leaves. In the Philippines, if you're reasonably courteous and the girl likes you, the arrangements become very fluid and she just might like hanging out with you and stay around as long as you want her to.

For a farang (foreigner) in Thailand as a short-term visitor, your chances of a freebie are about zero. In the Philippines, they're reasonably good. And even if you get into a P4P situation, if you go somewhere like the LA Cafe and avoid the bar fines and ladies drinks, you're just as likely to find out that what you pay is "up to you."

So there you have it. In Thailand the commercial sex scene is ubiquitous and actually a lot of fun, but its strictly commercial. In the Philippines, it's more amateurish, for the most part, and somehow more genuine (or at least it feels more genuine.

Funny how the p4p roles of Manila and Bangkok seems to have reversed in the past twenty years. Anyone who remembers Ermita in its glorious pre-Lim heyday in the early eighties will remember that it was a lot of fun but of the raunchy, no holes barred variety whereas in Bangkok the girls were sweeter and less pushy and provided a better GFE. However this had its drawbacks as the sex was less exciting (how hard was it to get a decent BJ from an average Thai BG in those days. You had to visit the specialists at Patpongs Kangaroo Club for that).

These days any and every sexual perversion can be satisfied in Bangkok but its all hard, mechanised and highly comercialised (I am referring solely to the p4p scene) whereas its the girls in Manila that seem to provide the better GFE but often are not as skilled practitioners of their trade (but are always amenable to training). It all depends on what sort of experience you are after.

In other ways their is no contest. Thailand is tourist friendly with an extremely well developed tourism infrastructure. When I first got here, I didn't give a shit. For a short ride, I would give them 300-500 pesos. I was new, so I didn't know where anything was. They covered the meters, took me the long way, told me they didn't have change, charge me another 100pesos for a bag in the trunk. Since I don't drive, I have been taking cabs every day, about 4-5 times a day for the last year. I know where everything is. I have an internal clock that tells me how much the fare would cost around Manila.

These guys are bad. About half of them have fast meters. From Burgos to Greenbelt mall, it should be about 50-60 pesos, with traffic. When it gets around 100, you know they're messing with you. One guy said taxis never run on meter. That's bullshit. If they don't want to set the meter, I walk out. And if the meter is fast, I let them drop me off at the ministop on Burgos ( there is a police stand ) and we go and file a report. Only takes 5 minutes. Most of the time, they shit in their pants and just drop me off and drive off. I tell them, "I'm not a tourist and I've lived here for a year. I know the meters. Most of them say "Sorry, I don't have money", etc., etc. The irony is that they all have Jesus and the cross on their taxi cabs but they try to rip you off.

I had friends driven to remote places and robbed at gunpoint and knives. It's a very common story. Initially, for safety sake, I always accompanied my friends to the cab and took down their license number. ( I made sure they see me ) When they try to play their stupid games, I call LTFRB and file a complaint. When their license gets suspended, it's a 5000 pesos fine and a 6 month suspension. You made think I'm being petty but it's the principle that bothers me. If they just take me to my destination without saying "Too much traffic", "100 over meter", "500" or some other bullshit, I will tip them generously ( about a 100 over the fare ). But when they play their games, I will give them the EXACT change.

I have taken over 150 taxi's in the Philippines in the last year and I have had only one problem. One time a driver got lost and it cost me 150P. I always act like I know where I am going and I have the hotel flag down a metered taxi, or I walk away from LA Cafe and go to 7-11 and flag a cab there.

At the airport I have the hotel pick me up. It cost me 800P and they take care of my bags and deliver them to my room. They are always at the arrival gate with a sign and I don't have to wait. I go to the Philippines to have fun, if I can't afford it, I keep saving until I can and then I book my trip. I want to enjoy my time, not get upset because I feel like I am getting scammed.

However may I point out that the new 70 peso flagfall yellow taxi service from Manila's airport international airport terminals 1 and 2 (I have not checked out from the domestic terminal) is a vast improvement on the higher priced, white 'coupon' taxis. I travelled to my Ermita hotel for P160: yes, on the return to the airport a standard metered taxi would do it for P130 on a good day with not too much traffic but let's not quibble over less than A$1!

The yellow taxi drivers even seem professional. As for metered taxis, I have not had a problem in my last three trips to Manila. Unless the meters are set a bit fast - as an outsider, that's harder to know.

Food? Yes, can be dodgy but try Mr Choi Kitchen at Robinsons Place Mall or the Hyatt Ermita's buffet dinner, the latter for about P1400 but you get free unlimited San Mig beer or soft drink. Superb food at both, and that's hardly an exhaustive list. Manila's food scene has vastly improved from 15 years ago, although Mayor Lim's ill-advised decision to shut down the successful Baywalk on Roxas Boulevard as usual was shortsighted and didn't help the development of an al fresco dining culture.

You say you lived here for a year, man it must have been one miserable, miserable year if you spent your time screaming at cabbies over $1 difference in fares.. We are friendly & chatty with our cabbies & more often than not they leave it to us to nominate the fare at the end. I have many cards of trusted cabbies we have used many times. These guys are just a txt or call away to pick us up & take us happily like chauffeurs to most anywhere we want. Sure we get the odd dodgy one off the street but where in the world don't you.

After 5 years of travelling to Manila for business, I've had my share of both bad and good experience with the cab drivers...mostly good. But the bad ones just want to make me shoot someone.

My last one was a good one, checking out...bell boy loaded the cab and meter was down when I got in, about 4 blocks away we had to turn back coz I forgot something. Not much small talk, got to the airport, he tells me to wait while he gets me a cart. First time ever!

He loaded up the bags on the cart, meter was 140 Pesos. I gave him 500 Pesos and said thank you for the great service.

I'm staying at the Makati Shangrila. I'm from Daly City, CA and we all have our horror stories. Being a Filipino, we all have our own drivers pick us up at the airport. When the embassy warns you about the drivers here, you know it's bad. Most flights arrive late in the evenings, that's when most of the problems will arise. Last weekend, we had about 12 people wanting to go the SM MegaMall. You'd think that since the taxi was from a nicest hotel here in the Philippines, they would be honest. We took three cabs and all followed each other. Our meter was 110 from the Shangrila to the mall. The other two was 190 and 230. I asked both of the drivers why the fare was so much. Both said it was heavy traffic. Then one of my friends went up to both of the drivers and told him in tagalog that we all left at the same time and our taxi was following them. Both of them just put their head down and took 100 and walked away.

Try not to take a cab alone, especially if you're a female. A girl I used to date told me she had too much to drink at the Embassy and took a cab to San Juan. The driver pulled over and told her that she didn't have to pay him anything, just let him touch her in a few places. She freaked out and got out of the car.

Just use common sense. If they say no meter, just get out of the car and hail down another ride. And obviously, don't carry valuables with you.

First of all, let me start off by saying I think Filipinos are one of the nicest people, definitely most friendliest in Asia. I grew up with Filipinos all through my life. The people here are amazing...so oppressed, living in poverty and yet, they can smile and still keep their spirits up. I always tell my friends that the people in the provinces are some of the nicest folks in the world. They have so little, yet, they will give you so much.

I'm Korean, but was adopted and grew up and educated in the US. The expat community here is pretty tight-knit group. One of my closest American friends that has been living here for 15 years said, "People think you are Korean so you will get hassled more from the taxi drivers". First, I didn't believe him but it's true. When they see me, they assume 3 things - (1) I don't speak English (2) I'm a tourist or student (3) I have loads of money and I don't know any places. So I become the "perfect" target to ripoff. I love it when I tell them I'm an American and start to speak English and they have this look on their face.

Let me tell you what happened just today. My local friends and I did some karaoke at Avenue, very close to Burgos. As we were walking back to Burgos, I notice a taxi driver throwing in some luggage for a young, attractive Korean lady. She asked him how much and he said "only 300 pesos to The Citadel". The Citadel is RIGHT DOWN THE BLOCK, ONLY 2 MINUTES WALKING DISTANCE!!!" So I grabbed her luggage and we both walked together. I told the that tool that we didn't need his "help".

I really love it here. I have a company in the US and just opened up an office here last year. I'm having a great time but the taxi drivers just drive me crazy. Now, I just say "meter please". If they haggle, I just walk out. They'll say "200" and I say, "why 200 if the meter is only "60"? Again, I make plenty of money. It's not that. I just hate feeling taking advantage of. Just because I'm a foreigner and Korean looking does not mean I'm a walking ATM machine. If I walk into Jolibees, I don't get charged more because I'm a foreigner. It's the principle. Yes, these scabs bug the shit out of me. They give their own people a bad name. Because most are good, honest people. I have to put up with this crap every day. Some days, I'm just not in the mood. What other country, espeically in Asia do we have to put up with this? Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia....all are safe places. Even Thailand, a third world country has decent drivers. When I tell people I'm in the Philippines, they all ask, "Is it safe?!"

I give a ton of money to charity organizations here. I love it. Giving is definitely one of the greatest gifts of life. I want to give my money to honest people. If the drivers take me to point A to point B, I'm happy and I tip well. Every time, I say, "Thank you for your professionalism".

I had two friends from the US that had visited me and after a week, they both said, "Man, I need to get the fuck out of this country. These people are just maggotts!" It made me feel so sad to hear that. Because most of the Filipinos are great people. But they were in Manila most of the time and they had some bad experiences with taxi drivers and the local police officers. ( for another posting ) Some of us that are here for a short time and majority of the time is with taxi drivers. So yeah, I understand how they feel.

Having said all this, something funny happen to me last week. I was at the Market Market mall in Fort Bonifacio and grabbed a cab to take me to Greenbelt Three. It was an old driver and I said, "Greenbelt 3". He said, "Duty Pree?" I said, "No, Greenbelt Three!" He said again, "Okay, Duty Free!". I didn't want him to take me to the airport so I said, "Never mind, just take me to Burgos". He said, "Pure Gold?" ( Pure Gold is all the way in Malate ) So I just started to give him directions. While he was driving, he asked me what I was doing here in the Phils. I said I owned a "call center". He said, "Oh, you're a carpenter?! " I started laughing so hard. I wish I could of taped our conversation. It was like a Seinfeld episode.

A few tips - before you go in the cab, check the gas tank. Many times, they are running on empty. Tell them you live here and not a tourist. Always text your friend their license number. ( written on the door ) Just in case something happens, you have their information. Let them see you do it. And before you walk out, look back on the seat. One time, my big, bulky Blackberry phone slipped through the cushion. ( I can't tell you how many friends have told me they lost their phone in the taxi )

I got a Benz in the US and I can't ship it and driver here. Second, I'm thinking of just getting a motorcyle. My friend loves it and thinks it's the best decision he's ever made. I would say most of my experiences are good. But I think these drivers are just killing this country. Yes, you may say it's only a $1. But it's not that. I have plenty of money. It's the principle.

Why do you have to stay near the airport? I recommend you get a hotel in Malate, near LA Cafe and just walk there. I think you can be in your hotel in an hour and a half easy after landing at that time. Go to LA Cafe and get something nice to stay with you overnight for your 2000 pesos, maybe 2500. Upstairs usually has the better talent, some only go with Korean and Japanese, but not all. There might be some new yellow metered taxis at the airport now when you leave arrivals which wasn't the case before.

Some only go with Korean or Japanese? Sounds like BKK shit which happens more and more. I got tired of Thai scene on my last trip 2 months ago and want to check out PI in 3 weeks. Angeles was OK a couple of years back. Should I skip Manila and just go to Angeles or stay in Manila? I will have about 5 days in PI, in the middle of my HK/China trip. If in Manila, should I stay close to Burgos, EDSA or La Cafe area nowadays? I'm not counting pennies but not overpaying is important to me. And not having to deal with hardened pros is a definite plus. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm in my 40's, good shape, full head of hair, fairly good looking for my age. Do I just stick to freelancers? There seems to be a lot of changes in the Philippines.

Would be visiting manila over the weekend and staying or 3 days at the Makati Shangrila.

Have been visiting manila once every quarter and usual hangouts are Dynasty, Pacific Blue and Asian Entertainment. Have been charged upto 7k as the bar fine. Is this normal or just ripping off a foreigner? I am allowed to bring in my own bottle at the first two named places. So I save a little money on that. Girls have always been top grade at all Pacific and Dynasty. Asian has a much more commercial approach with girls being thrust on you.

Another issue, I usually visit these places with the same taxi driver and feel the rip off is linked to this.

Interesting (but too long) debate on Taxis guys, but if you ask me, its the same all over the world, and believe me I have been there in over 30 years working away from home !!

Talking of being there, I actually was a Taxi Driver from 1987 - 1997 when times were hard and the kids were young etc etc. I had a full time job and had to drive a Taxi in my off time to make ends meet due to rising prices, big mortgage et al.

I know all the tricks, all about long hours, traffic, fiddling meters, blah blah blah... and apart from picking up drunken scantily clad young ladies from night clubs, believe me, the job is no fun at all.

I respect Taxi Drivers, tip them well and have never knowingly been ripped off, but maybe that is just the luck of the draw.

It does bring into new light the expression YMMV though ;)

Some only go with Korean or Japanese? Sounds like BKK shit which happens more and more. I got tired of Thai scene on my last trip 2 months ago and want to check out PI in 3 weeks. Happens here to but still plenty of pussy to go around.
Angeles was OK a couple of years back. Should I skip Manila and just go to Angeles or stay in Manila? I will have about 5 days in PI, in the middle of my HK/China trip. If in Manila, should I stay close to Burgos, EDSA or La Cafe area nowadays? I'm not counting pennies but not overpaying is important to me. And not having to deal with hardened pros is a definite plus. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm in my 40's, good shape, full head of hair, fairly good looking for my age. Do I just stick to freelancers? There seems to be a lot of changes in the Philippines.Depends on your budget & your mongering temperament.
AC : Large number of P4P girls, Quite variable quality but due to numbers you can always find something nice. Convenient.
Burgos : Expensive P4P, most consistent quality of other areas. Convenient.
Edsa : Lots of FL's, variable quality but often lots of good ones. Prices moderate. Not as convenient as straight P4P places.
LA Cafe : Bottom feeder FL's but gems can be found, Lower prices. Hunting FL's can be time consuming. Not as safe as Makati area.
Malls (Food Courts) : Can pick up amateurs often freebies but least reliable way to get laid.

I've been here a while now and I've talked to girls on Burgos, EDSA, socialites, etc. Here's my take:

Yes, just like us men, everyone has their preferences. Some girls tells me that they will NEVER sleep with a black or an Arab guy. Even at LA Cafe, I saw one Indian looking guy walk up to a girl and she shook her head. I went up to her later and asked and she said, "Mabah-own!" ( It means "stinky" ) And I have met other girls that said they prefer to be with Asian guys only. In Burgos, I see many of the girls with Caucasians, old guys, bald guys, etc. I think there is plenty of action to be had.

I did have some friends from the US visit me. ( they were all white ) I was kind of surprised but most of them didn't get any love at LA Cafe. It's true. Upstairs, the girls are much prettier and they tend to prefer Koreans and Japanese. Downstairs, everything goes. But the quality of the girls is not as high.

We later went to EDSA and it didn't matter. For the most part, I don't think it really matters. We all have our preferences.

Spent two weeks in Manila and my observation is pretty much in line with much of what has been written here in this forum. I was here on a business trip so I did not get out to see much in the day time but had some moments at night.

I'll skip the Thai versus Filipina comparison except to say that I also found the Filipinas to be more sincere and genuine in their presentation of themselves. The Taxi scam debate is too much, it reminded me of how hard is to get a cab in NYC during rush hour and how I would gladly pay them an extra buck but I get the posters who don't want to be ripped off. I would say this about the Taxi Drivers; they are doing what a large segment of the world's population would do if they were in similar situations. These people are dirt poor, I certainly do not approve of their scamming visitors but I understand why they do what they do and if you as a visitor don't you are not being realistic. I hope no one gets hurt over 100 pesos.

The KTVs and Karaoke places did nothing for me so after seeing the lay out of two of these places, I gave up on them. Paying to sit with a girl who can't sing and you get no happy return? The appeal of this escapes me. I think the girly/go-go clubs would do much better with some of the patrons if they decrease the bar fines which can be as high as 3500 pesos in some clubs. I did enjoy the girls in many of the bars in Burgos especially the Ringside club with the female and Dwarf boxing sessions. They have some cute dancers with nice bodies but I never inquired about taking any of them out. Bottoms seems to be a very popular club with a special or VIP rooms some girls tried to lured me into but I wasn't impressed with any of them so I passed.

Not sure why all the less attractive girls swarm customers once you enter the bar and can't get the hint to leave when you tell them you are not going to buy them all lucky drinks. Again I think those lady drinks might get more play if they cost a little less (350 pesos) but I did see some guys in some clubs with a platoon of girls around them all with drinks. Why do customers sign that bill after you order a drink? Is that a legal document and can it be used in court if you don't pay? No need to answer, I just found this procedures amusing. I like how the girls in the bar sized up customers too with the usual conversation. How long you’ve been here? Where you Stay? How many times in PI? Good method of distinguishing the suckers from the experience mongers by these girls.

Saw quite a few Filipinas who were mixed and had a real exotic Asian look. I'm not a big fan of Chinese chicks but for some reason when they are mixed (Chinese and Filipino or Chinese/Thai) they seem more attractive to me, I actually had hooked up with one on Asian Euro before I arrived in Manila but she is all the way out in the boonies and wanted me to send her money for a ticket to come see me but with such a short visit and the abundance of girls here so I told her we would meet on my next visit. I never took a girl from any of the bars but was approached buy numerous free lancers and took a chance on a cute Chinese/Filipino who wanted 500 pesos for a massage, turned out to be an excellent salad tosser. There are loads of these girls on the street but as in the bars you have to wait for the cute ones to walk by. I had three girls who looked liked some harden criminals; one had a scar on her face. Initially I thought she was the actor Willem Dafoe in Drag especially when she smiled. I politely refused them and moved on. The free lancers in groups all push the two girls massage offering but I would never go for that, its one or nothing for me with the free lancers.

The Somerset Hotel Chain in Manila is not worth the price, the charge about 5100 pesos per night (PLUS almost 700P per day for internet usage) and the rooms while accommodating are far from luxurious. Had a massage from the in house masseuse who to my surprise offered a HJ at the end she had nice soft powerful tits but would not offer FS. Over all I had a great time in Manila from my conversations with the Taxi Drivers to the Pan Handlers offering Cialis and Viagra to the Freelancers, Bar Girls and even the Korean Air representative who looked through my pass port and told me what a world traveler I was. I saw beautiful Ticket Agent at the entrance gate who couldn't stop smiling after I told her she looked like a Princessa, she took my compliment so well. Try that at JFK, well on second though the ticket agents at JFK are all mostly cunts so they would not look like that girl.

My advice to people coming here is to go have fun and not get hang up on the small stuff you can't change like the traffic and taxi drivers. Enjoy these lovely ladies while you can, for me it was an honor being here even if some people made me feel like it was an honor to be in my company. I definitely will return, here are some random non-nude pics attached.

You are right RM. The mongers usually forget that they got ripped off ten times worse in their "civilized" countries, by their phone companies, credit card companies, governments and such. Somehow the taxi drivers in Manila who don't wear the suits that get the finger.

And many of us who contribute to the various sub forums may also be married to Filipinas. I think we all enjoy the company of good Filipinas which is why we got married to one. And enjoy the lifestyle we can have in the Philipiines. On the" more is better " principle.

And I guess all of who do contribute and play in the Philippines do so on our own terms, and have satisfied our own consciences before playing.

I am Indian and have been traveling to manila forthe last few yeas every 2-3 months. Quite simply the scent of money overpowers all other scents. Visit Dubai and see the no of Filipinas floating around. Funny they dont like Arabs. I have seen filipinas as far away as Abidjan in the heart of Africa. I have seen an Australian at Dynasty refusing to leave with the girl he agreed to bar fine, once he saw the bill.
i rest my case on this issue.

My typical schedule in Manila is work till 6pm, get back to the hotel then hit Palasyo Don Pedro for a good massage and then after dinner hit to strip at Roxas boulevarde. Usually Pacific Blue or Dynasty. Once in a while also stop over at East Asia. LD are usuall 675 and bar fine can be as high as 7k.
