We stayed at Coco Beach resort: nice because it's isolated so there aren't any touts, etc., and the restaurants are very intimate.

I think you go to a Japanese KTV in roxas and they are very expensive,but you should of bargin down,so how much you need to paid the girl or 5000 p include FS,most kyv at edsa and burgo is 1500 p for take out and you paid the girl for extra at hotel after 1500-3000 all night.

I stayed in the following hotels. Ofcourse it all depends on your budget and your needs:

Country hotel
A little bit overpriced, very nice rooms, pool, but very small tv, no lake view but in the centre of tagaytay.

New Orleans hotel
More value for money although no pool. Lake view in some rooms. In the center of Tagaytay as well.

I forgot the name but i can try to serach for it
Great view, get a bungalow. Very romantic, not in the center and currently under renovation.

If you want to save some money you can take an aircon bus to tagaytay from Manila (a.o. from Pasay).

A private trip to the lake and the vulcano (transport by van, boat, admission fee, guide) costed last month 2.500 pesos. Excluding the horse ride to the vulcano.

I live deep in the boondocks of Centgral Mindanao now, and I think only fools hang out long time in manila. However, the world is full of fools.

LAC wasn't as crowded with females as I had expected. I was assuming that the recent spate of flooding would severely increase the number of females in manila who needed a shot of cash.

Despite having come to Manila alone, I didn't feel the urge to actually take one of the girls, notwithstanding a few real beauties that were seen entering around 730pm. We were at Taal Vist Hotel. At least a hundred rooms and great views where we were. They had a fabulous spread for brunch on Sunday. I don't remember the price. They have brunch entertainment on Sundays which consists of cultural dancers. I was a bit richer than I am now but room was less than $100.00

Its a great place to take a woman to for a couple of days and fairly convenient from Manila. She will cream in her jeans.

Be warned there is a petite cutie I met last night at G-Point who found my extra pesos in my room while I was in the shower and lifted them. She went by the name Lovely and claims to be from Panay and says she works at Divisoria Mall. Which I'm sure is BS. She gave me a fake phone number too. I suppose I'll have a chat with G Point management tonight, but I'm sure that won't go anywhere. Buyer beware, that sort of thing. Maybe I'll find her friends there and put a scare into them. In any case, it's a writeoff, no use stewing about it. For what I lost, it's a relatively cheap lesson learned.

They have only called up to my room asking if it's ok for the girl to leave about half the time and they have never taken the ID of the girl or checked it for me. I've heard they have for other members though. The safety boxes I saw behind the counter looked like only half of them weren't broken. After hearing about other hotels, I doubt if I will be returning to that place. Eurotel I've heard has safes in the room, free wifi and even closer to Robinson Mall. It looks nice for the price online, but not worth it to me once you actually see it.

The best paying job for a non-RN girl in davao city is call center agent. Only one out of each 250-or-so girls who already have the requirements (4-year degree) under their belt, pass the screening to get hired.

These new hires earn 8000/month.

The department store girls in Davao, take home 105 peso/day. And get fired after 5-1/2 months, by contract.

You obviously have zero idea of what kind of income is normal in your ladyfriend's place in Samar, a place which is close to the bottom of the country in incomes. And you obviously haven't figured out that your 6k/month is paying for continuous alcohol-drinking sprees of about 30 male relatives of the chick.

My place is ==the lowest== income area in the entire country. The median income is 5000/year. As per a recent feature article in Makati Business Mirror newspaper

Rice is a very infrequent luxury here. The staple is cassava root. Rice would be served at wedding receptions. Politicians give out kilo bags of it when buying votes.

The Step- Up:

They have medium size parking lot out in the front with adequate security and parking managers. Parking is free of charge. Once you park you will enter two double glass doors and are told to proceed up a short row of red stairs.

Front Desk:

Once upstairs you will be asked do you want a Karaoke room with girl or a massage? I opted for the Karaoke room. You will also be told there is 500 PHP $11 minimum charge.

The Fish Bowl:

From there I was taken to a fish bowl with like 25 girls inside. I selected one with a small deliberation and off we were escorted to the room. They have different level of girls to select from the models to GROs.

The Room:

Large room with private CR. The staff will come in and out at their leisure so there is no privacy even if you and the girl are tempted to do something in there. There is a karaoke machine and a TV showing the live show that is going on right outside. The live show consist of girls dancing singular or in a group in bikinis.

The room is 2000 PHP $44 and they charge 1000 PHP $22 per hour for the girls to sit with you in the room. You can order food and a large selection of alcohol is available.

Barfine is 9000 PHP $195 and you can give the girl whatever.

I barfined one who I was told was GRO. Service was excellent. She had one kid. Did everything I asked and more.

The quality of the girls is on par with what one can find on Burgos period. None of them blew me away in the beauty department like the girls at Pegasus.

The Place was cool with decent architecture. The hygiene of the place is in question as I saw two roaches running around the Karaoke room sink.
The staff comes in and out of Karaoke room asking you do you want to try this or that offering hot towels etc…. can become a bit tedious after a while.

Notwithstanding which, filipinos have very little ability to see reality. They believe with all their heart in branded products, and they are herd animals.

Boracay has become a sort of Golden Fleece to these locals. They think it is Hot Shit.

Therefore, I agree with the above quote. Taking an office girl to Boracay will impress her deeply. Let her take plenty of pictures so she can show them off to her officemates.

Get some hepatitis shots before you go. Boracay beach water has rather high level of raw sewerage. When the boom started, the Filipino elites started throwing up hotels to take advantage. These feature the high quality infrastructure (eg, wastewater treatment) for which Filipinos are world-famous.

A rabies vaccination is another excellent idea. Two years ago, a japanese tourist died (in Japan) of rabies he got by being bit from a stray dog in Boracay. Serves him right for driving the prices up.

Get these immunizations in Manila Doctors Hospital (United Nations Avenue, just north of Robinsons), so you aren't given expired meds. I have gotten to the point where I buy the meds and injection-gear at Mercury, and self-administer. Diabetic kids do it all the time, it isn't hard to learn.

When in these sort of places, I buy a smoke detector, and a LARGE fire extinguisher at a local hardware store, keep them at bedside. It is the difference between life and death.

Quite a number of years ago, I let a taxi driver talk me into going into Miss Brunette (I think it's already gone now). It was just after they had unlocked the doors for the evening's business. No girls were in stock yet.

I dropped into G-Point last night to talk to the manager. And the girl was there. So I talked to her. She maintained her innocence. She said if she had done it, why would she show up knowing I was still around. Good point, that, but I was not entirely convinced. I will say there is the slightest doubt at the moment: as in a tiny chance that the hotel housekeeping helped themselves to it or a tiny chance that I had a senior moment and put it someplace then forgot that I put it there. I have done that often enough back home. Though I did search around a bit, I didn't search every last nook and cranny of the room.

So for now, she was reported to the supervisor on duty who stated that the bar apparently cares about such things: though the girls are strictly FL'ers, they don't want known troublemakers inside. The supervisor told me they will warn her, another report from someone else and she will get turfed out. The girl knows I reported her. If she is really innocent, then she has nothing to worry about. But if she really did lift my pesos as I still suspect she did, then she's been put on notice.

The girl did tell me that she did not like La Cafe at all: too much meat market atmosphere whereas G-Point is more casual and not as much in your face. The way I see it, the girls are basically a sideline at G-Point. It's an expat hangout bar first and foremost. It's not a bad place to hang out if that's all you want to do. Always seems to be a pool game going on and there's live music after 10pm. Very little pressure from the girls: you can shoo them away and enjoy your food (they have a menu) and drinks in peace which I like.

I'm sure the word spread among all the girls there about the two of us: it will be interesting to see what kind of reception I get when I return to Manila in January. Not that I'm holding my breath: way too many other girls out there.

Everyone knows the meat market at La Cafe. When I'm not in the mood for that, I've gone cruising at a few other places.

Cafe 28 is on Mabini between Salas and Padre Fauria. Pool table, young bartenders, but very few people in there. I understand it's a newer place, just needs better publicity. Staff is friendly.

Amazonia on del Pilar between La Cafe and Padre Fauria St. Waitresses in uniforms, pool table in the back. FLs onsite, but didn't partake. They have ST rooms upstairs, 600pp/3 hours. The FL I talked to wanted 1500pp for ST; I wasn't interested in taking anyone at the time so I didn't bother to negotiate. That one was doable, but her friend trying to pitch her was not. YMMV.

Butterfly Bar on del Pilar between Amazonia and Padre Fauria St. Two pool tables in the back. German menu; guess it must be one of them running this place. Dang cute dancers who are fun to flirt with. There's a DJ spinning tunes for them to dance to. Fun watching that. Don't think they are available for takeout though. One in particular had a rather bubbly personality that belies the tough life she has. Low key vibe, very few customers. FLs walk in from the street to check out the customers, then leave if there's nothing going. OK by me. Some potential, but hard to say, I'm not a student of what makes a bar work or not.

A few other places on del Pilar in this area, but I didn't step into any of them.

On a personal note, I take my reputation and integrity very seriously. As a result of that, I try to respect other people's reputations equally seriously and try to make absolutely sure before I act that I'm without any doubt before I go around accusing other's. That's just me.

In that light, when you had just stated that there was even a hint of doubt about the situation, that perhaps someone else could've taken it or maybe you even misplaced it, is it prudent to go ahead and accuse another person regardless?

Maybe you're leaving and going back to wherever your home is, oblivious to the situation and probably don't care, but the other person is left in the aftermath of suspicion and doubt. Is it really worth it to damage someone else's reputation over what you stated as a "paltry" amount when you yourself have expressed doubt about who the real culprit was?

As I said, I don't mean to preach and I'm not trying to question your character, I'm questioning the decision.

So for now, she was reported to the supervisor on duty who stated that the bar apparently cares about such things: though the girls are strictly FL'ers, they don't want known troublemakers inside. Regarding keeping valuables in the room, I purchased a nifty package called a pacsafe. I got it for about $40 from REI stateside, but lots of places sell it. It's a heavy nylon bag with steel mesh woven in to prevent cutting through. A cable draws it shut and permits it to be locked to whatever you choose. I usually lock it to the plumbing under the bathroom sink. I keep my passport, credit cards, camera, and most of my cash in it, and then just carry smaller amounts with me. It's easy to move stuff in and out of it when you need something or when you want to secure goodies during horizontal recreation. When not in use it rolls up to about 8 inches in length and maybe 2-3 inches in diameter.

Well I am back in the Philippines again...another 2 weeks of hardship and agony :D

They are doing a lot of renovation work at Robinsons at the moment and the Department Store seems to be closed (brilliant timing, just before Xmas). They have also moved all of the clothes and knick-knack vending stalls from the centre of the ground floor plaza, which is good news.

I was there on the 22nd and thought the same thing, but the construction is only on the first floor. Floors above are open as usual, and maybe even expanded a little. I was in Manila earlier and posted a report. I do hope it was helpful to some if not all of you.

Being a first time monger in the Phils, it all went well for me. But after reading in the AC thread, I am quite skeptical on what's happening there. But, I have problems. I fell in love with the Phils GFE soooo much and had managed to get a super duper cheap price (USD 8 return) to the Phils on a budget airline. I will be landing my ass again in the Phils next year twice. One in April, the other will be in August. Both will be 4 days and 3 nites

Now, I need opinions on the following from seasoned mongers:

1. Should I stay put in AC and enjoy the delicacies there? Or should I head to Manila and enjoy my stay with previous BF? She seemed to enjoy me very much and we still talk over the phone every fortnight.

2. What would be a valid reason for me to go there? My nature of work does not require to travel internationally and I do not want the wife to smell something fishy!

I know that some of you would reply RTFF but trust you me, I have and all I can say I still need your experience and comments for item 1. As for item 2, I believe a few of you can be a great help to me (FF maybe?.). Anyway, I'd love to meet up with the seasoned/senior members once I am back in the Phils next year and learned from you! Excuses that I can think of:

1. Work, your job requires you to go there and work with your customers or your call center in the area.

BajThis a really really tough one. Depends if you can slowly build a story that says your company is just starting a project with a Philippines company.

Then slowly slowly at the dinner table feed the story about how you are third in charge of the project. Then the number 2 in charge gets sick etc. So you are made number 2. Then number 1 gets re-assigned and you are given the Phils project as team leader and your boss says its important to your career to do it well.

Eventually go home with a long face and say you are really sorry but seems you have to make a 3-4 day trrip there as you are finding it hard to communicate your companies needs via phone etc.

Go there. Have mad fun and after 3 days say that you got bad food and wasted 3 days on toilet, need a further 3-5 days to deal with the contract and that dealing with these Asians is really tricky but your company is relying on you to do a good job. All this is possible if you have enough balls and can lie through your teeth.. And if your wife knows nothing about your work and no one in your immediate office.

Life has many adventures and solving this dilemna is surely an adventure.

First night:

I started off in the little brother to LA Cafe, the one just across the street. Here is one.

There is a very big, world wide running organisation/club called the Hash House Harriers. It is a cross country sport.

Some people refer to a bunch of runners with a drinking problem, or a bunch of drinkers with a running problem.

Just google "hash house harriers". Add your home town, and most likely there will be a Hash chapter there.

And there are many national and international events. I am going to a Hash event in Boracay, Phils, on the first weekend in March. So I get there a bit early, and stay for a while after. The Phils is renowned for lots of hash chapters, so it is easy to string a bunch of runs together as a justification.

And it is free, except for a small fee that you pay per run or event.

And the missus will probably be excited that you are getting fit.

Now, I need opinions on the following from seasoned mongers:

1. Should I stay put in AC and enjoy the delicacies there? Or should I head to Manila and enjoy my stay with previous BF? She seemed to enjoy me very much and we still talk over the phone every fortnight.

2. What would be a valid reason for me to go there? My nature of work does not require to travel internationally and I do not want the wife to smell something fishy!

Not sure where you hail from, or your exact circumstances, but I'll give you a somewhat different reply, on assumption you are a westerner and are traveling halfway around the world to pursue this.

You've heard all the good excuses for going to the PI, but unless you make these excuses real, nobody with common sense is going to buy it. If you say you want to go scuba diving, you need to take classes, and make a number of dive outings in your local area. Make diving a real part of your life. The same goes with the other excuses - you have to make them real, so that even to yourself they are real, or they won't be real to anyone.

Most people know, or figure out fast enough, that men don't travel alone to the PI just to take in some sights. Now maybe your spouse doesn't want to know the truth and is grateful that you throw her the bone of a lie. In a best case scenario she accepts the lie, and reinforces it to friends and relatives, because she herself wants to keep up appearances and not rock the boat. If you are so lucky to have such a wife, I envy you.

More likely though, you have to prepare for the inevitable confrontation when those around you challenge your excuses. If indeed you've fallen in love with the Filipina GFE, you need to begin thinking seriously about how this could potentially turn your life upside down.

My money says you are not going to successfully get away with a charade. Your two worlds will collide, sooner rather than later. Maybe that is good, maybe bad. Anyway, I just thought the discussion was a tad bit deluded ...

The little vendor stalls in the middle area between Padre Faura and Adriatico wings are gone, as CS notes, and that's sort of disappointing. Some of the women in these stalls always seemed to me to be on the sell themselves.

You will be pleased to note that the come hither young female vendors and their stalls have just been shunted off to a nearby designated area called the Festival Circle, although circle is a bit of a misnomer as it is more a dusty corner!

Considering that it is so close to Xmas, there seemed to be very few FLs around in Robinsons Mall. Maybe the paramilitary style mall security force is being extra vigilant this holiday season.

If you have the money, stay at Heritage Hotel across from EDSA Entertainment Complex. Hotel is expensive, but near airport and can walk to EDSA. Taxi to LA cafe is less than 100pesos. Taxi to Airport One is cheap also. If you want cheaper hotel, Palm Plaza or one of the sister hotels is within walking distance to LA cafe and Robinson's Mall. If you are leaving before 8am, no traffic.

Can anyone let me know what is the best area in Manila to spend a day or two. I will be in the Philippines in April '10 and would like to spend couple of days before continuing on to Angeles. Last time I was in Manila in '07 I spend some time in I think the area was called Malate or something like that. At the time I didn't know about this forum and I had no info on Manila at all. A cab driver took me to I think the LA Cafe where I hooked up with a FL and that is about all I saw from manila before going to Angeles with the fly the bus.

I see that Makati is one of the areas that sees a lot of action, Ermita (is this the area around the La Cafe?) seems to be another. Which is better? Is there anything in Manila like Angeles where you have wall to wall clubs? Can anyone suggest a good hotel that is GF friendly?

Also beside fly the bus is there any other way to get to angeles?

Late FR (as been travelling, working and doing things I least enjoy most for a few weeks!) but one that still amuses me.

En route to the airport (NAIA Terminal 2 Centennial) the taxi driver and I found the main route blocked due to the traffic (what a surprise – this is Manila!) so he took a different route and then asked if he could stop for petrol. Well had no choice as without it we would go nowhere. As it was I always leave plenty of time in the Philippines to check in (after all, it so well organized) and so he stopped

By chance, the gf and I got a really good taxi to take us from Manila to Batangas. Good driver, name of Philip, taxi is almost new, very quiet, everything works well. Philip is intelligent and courteous, a rarity among taxi drivers.

I said to him I wil post his name, provided his prices ar ereasonable.

He will take you from Manila to Angeles for 2700 peasos, which is the going rate ex Angeles.

And he prepositions, so if you need a taxi at 6.15 at your hotel to take you a fair distance, he will be there on time. Exactly.

But I suggest you only use him for longer trips, and call at least a day beforehand.

Nice to have something good said about a Manila taxi driver, Gangles.

Interested in your point about the newness of the vehicle. An important thing to remember about Manila Taxis is that wherever possible you should avoid the old, beat-up taxis. I’ve had it from the horse’s mouth that these are often unlicensed and are absolutely guaranteed to have fast meters. Go for the newer taxis wherever possible. Apart from being more comfortable, safer and with more professional drivers, they are damn sight cheaper.

And the drivers are much more likely to use the meter.Yesterday I took a newer taxi to the Casino behind NAIA Terminal 1 and the meter wasn't even close to being right. I jokingly asked the driver what was wrong with his meter, as I have made the same trip 20 times and he told me that the car got flooded back in September....whatever.

Leaving the casino it is harder to get a taxi, so i had to take a old old taxi back to Makati. The driver said no meter, flat rate of 200P. The normal rate is 135 to 140P. Not having much choice I said okay. Living here I know where I am riding around Manila and the driver went towards Manila and not Makati. I asked him where he was going and he told me too much traffic going to Makati and he would go through Manila. He went down past the US Embassy and turned down an alley and stayed in alleys and sure as shit, we made it to Makati in 30 minutes with no traffic jams :)

i thought i had posted a question a few months back about medical clinics for std checkups in the ermita area, but couldn't find it when i searched just now. somebody told me about a clinic in robinson's place mall; if it's there, the information booth near the pedro gil entrance doesn't know about it. to make a long story short, i had reason to get little lady checked out. i found a clinic by the name of calpe on mabini between romero-salas and padre faura. they charged 1200 pesos for an exam and lab analyses for [CodeWord109] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord109) and a smear. then, having found her positive for big g, insisted it could only be cured with an injection that they'd gladly do for 8,000 pesos. i got into a heated discussion with the woman doctor (or at least alleged that she was) and finally got her to write out prescriptions for pills and the injection. little lady went to another physician elsewhere in metro manila and got the exam and lab work for 600 pesos, and the injection was available for 1200 pesos. one difference was that skip, a westerner, was in evidence at calpe but not at the second physician. moral of this story: do not go to the calpe medical clinic on mabini!! i can't say i was very turned on watching employees trooping in and out of the "laboratory" while smoking and munching on bags of snacks, either.

and here's a good place to do business: the haircut salon in robinson's place mall called ricky reyes'. i'd just finished eating at shakeys and noticed it right next door as i was leaving. i had stopped there a year ago and got a very good haircut, and i was starting to look kinda shaggy. so i got another excellent haircut; really, much better than i had gotten in any salon in the states in recent years. haircut, shampoo, blow dry, mustache and eyebrows trimmed, all for 200 pesos. i highly recommend the place. most of the employees are bakalas, but i'm old and ugly so none of them made a pass at me. if you go, just set aside your homophobia and treat yourself to a good, inexpensive haircut.

I buy the same stuff there on P. Burgos. It has worked well for me when I needed it! I had a steady GFE with a vested interest in getting as much of the product for my time with her as possible. :D She helped talk the vendor down to PHP 200 a box. While making the deal, all I had in my hand was a couple of PHP 100 bills. When he agreed to 200 per box, I magically found I had a PHP 1000 bill in my pocket, so I bought 5 boxes. ;) Unfortunately, my steady started on her "mens" the next day :eek:, which really pissed off both of us. She was pissed because she doesn't like fucking in that condition. I was pissed because I couldn't get away from her to find anything else to fuck! :mad:

At least I have plenty left over for my next trip! I would try to use it here in Korea. But this place is just to expensive, and no fun for mongering anymore.

I was there in novemeber very convenient gf met me there I paid for room she arrived afternoon they allowed her in I arrived in the evening I think the room was 2500 for both of us I can check my records if you really want to know the price I had to leave the next day for the you S. I paid between 26 and 2700 for a standard room at Manila Airport Hotel. That is not particularly expensive by Metro Manila standards. I just wrote a review in the Manila Hotels thread. Agoda.com has occasionally shown a hotel in Pasay City that they describe as an "airport hotel." It's a different hotel, seems to be within a few blocks of International Airport, and it's cheaper. Why not take one for the team and give us a report?

Funny thing about the SIM cards. I was just thinking to myself today, that I should buy a different SIM for each city I plan to visit. RobbBuying a house is easy, buying the land the house is on is not possible!

Setting up a corporation where you have 5 stockholder and you own a maximum of 40% stock is an answer. The corporation owns the land and the house you can buy whilst at the same time lease the land from the corporation at a peppercorn rent, or just lease both land and house for 25 years renewed again for another 25 years.

Many embassies have a list of accredited Attorneys. Try one of those to set up the corporation and they will also do the conveyancing and set up the renewable lease. When purchasing a foreclosed property from a bank never ever pay more than 65% of the asking price and start at 45%

All the above is what I did over 5 years ago and until now am not married.

Those fireworks really are the dog's bollocks. Pinoy children don't seem to mind losing an eye, a few fingers or a hand in the name of good fun during the Christmas season. Each year numerous street urchins have body parts blown off and errant RPG grade rockets detonate and set their hovels on fire but the celebrations go on.

Things can go wrong when foreigners decide to join in the fun of setting off Third World fireworks. One guy lit a rocket and the bamboo stabilizer pole broke off in his hand. He decided to throw the rocket down the street before the propellant ignited. He sent it down range like a football only to have the infernal contraption ignite in mid flight and come flying back at him. It struck his face and detonated. He was so badly burnt and disfigured that he was medically evacuated to the States for reconstructive surgery. Stay away from local fireworks. :D

GWith regards to land ownership you are right it is very hard to maintain any interests in face of corruption. Leases have time and time again been proven to be very hard to interfere with, especially with multiple cross leases. Cross leasing makes ownership such a legal minefield there is little evidence of any successful interference.

For the one New Years that I spent in Manila (2006-2007) it was difficult to find female company. I had rented a room at one of the monger hotels in Ermita and went to LA Cafe about 8 pm. There were many more men than women there, and by 11:30 I had concluded I would be spending the night alone. About 15 minutes later a reasonably attractive woman walked up to my table, introduced herself as Lisa and asked me if I'd buy her a rum and coke. I did, exchanged a kiss with her as the fireworks in the street went crazy at midnight, and got her to my hotel room about 30 minutes later. She seemed very appreciative when I got her off quite quickly DATY and was okay for one night time shot of coffee for me, but proved very cool in the morning, although on my subsequent visits to LA she'd hunt me down and try to claim me. About the third time she did this I had already selected another partner for the night, but her attempt to interject herself into my evening ended quickly as she fell to the floor in a drunken swoon. I came to the realization that the reason she'd been available New Years Eve was because other men had picked up on her request for a drink as a sign of her alcoholism.

Warbucks may be right that there are places in Manila on New Years Eve where company is readily available, but I think LA Cafe is not one of them. The explanation I heard from one mongering veteran is that many of the freelancers return to the provinces for Christmas and New Years because of family obligations, and the girls that are totally without family commitment of this sort have either burned out their families or burned themselves out. I suspect Lisa was such a person.

If you know you will be in Manila for the holidays, it might be wise to make arrangements in advance for an extended hookup that makes it worth the while of some freelancer or internet date to stick it out with you.

Being a Brit it reminds me more of a psychotic Guy Fawkes Night as it used to be many years ago. I never buy fireworks as they are all either locally made or imported from China and are cheap and lethal. But I’ll probably do what I did last year and sit in the front garden with a tumbler full of single malt and watch the neighbors try to blow each other to hell and back. It’s highly entertaining.

But we used a combination of soda cans (the old heavy metal kind (telling my age)), duct tape, Zippo type lighter fluid, and tennis balls (instead of potatoes). The tennis balls were good for repeat firing, and kept us from getting in trouble for using mom's potatoes! :D We didn't need a manual to come up with this. Of course, we are half German on our mom's side! ;)

We also found that you could cut the white tips off of the old wood matches that could be lit off of anything. Place a nut about half-way onto a bolt, put the match tip inside the center of the nut, and screw in another bolt. Drop this contraption so that either bolt head hits a hard surface, and you've got a homemade fire cracker (and a bunch of ruined matches! :D )

Thanks, SkipRobinsons Mall did have free Wifi access throughout the entire mall when I was there this past October, but when I used my ipod touch, only was able to get connection about half the time. The other times, it said something like "the server is full" or something similar to that statement. Same story when I tried to use my laptop at 10am in the morning. Do you get free internet but it's just spotty in my opinion. I thought it would be a "great idea" to get on DIA and say "I'm in the mall now, anyone wanna come get me" but that fell through because of the unreliable WiFi.

It's on only one side of the mall near the bookstore and TGIF side. It's a horrible service. It used to work and now if I get the connection, it barely moves. I wouldn't let that offer of internet service be enough of a reason to go there for it.

The connection in Robinson is very slow. I found a good connection in a bakery/cafeteria that is very close to Robinson Mall. If you are going from EP to Robinson, it will be on your right on the street that goes to Robinson. They have electricity outlets and decent selection of cakes and coffee. Ask the password when you buy coffee. I dont remember the name of the place, but you wont miss it. I found more pleasant to sit there than in my room at EP. LA Cafe is another place that offers wi-fi but I have not been successful to connect there.

Somebody posted recently about WiFi in Robinson's Place Mall. On a recent trip I saw a guy using a laptop in Burger King, but couldn't tell if he was accessing the internet or just clinking away on the keyboard. Of course Starbucks pretty much everywhere will connect you to their WiFi for about 100 pesos per hour -- when it's working. But is there WiFi signal throughout the mall? Is it free or one credit card payment? Any information about details and reach of the signal are appreciated. Also, restaurants with wall plugs accessible to tables for those of us who only get an hour or so on a charged battery?

Andriatico. It definitely isn't near the Pedro Gil entrance. Very close to Cherry Blossoms Hotel at the dog leg entrance to Robinsons where you can get taxis.

I have used this place extensively over the years and have always had quick, reliable connection. Last month I must have been there for 3 or 4 hours killing some time before my homeward journey and was never pressured to leave or keep buying drinks.

Why go to HK when PH is only 1.5 hr flight away if Filipina is your cup of tea. You have much better chance to find 9s in Manila than in HK. There are tons of places you can hit in Manila in searching girls who meet your criteria while in HK you are limited to a few places. High quality girls are most easily found in high end KTV or night clubs, those along Roxas Blvd or Quezon Ave. in Quezon City. At lower cost places, it is more hit or miss. Manila has lots of beautiful girls, but most of them don’t work in this trade.

Every time I took a flight to Manila from different places in Asia, on the flight I seldom run into any 8 or above female oversea works who are returning home, but on the street of Manila, you will see many office girls who qualify.

I used to head to Manila and other parts of the PI about twice annually, but it has been over a year since the last visit. I hope nothing major has changed for the worse. Will be following an old gameplan of staying at the Executive Plaza and hanging around G-Point, LA Cafe, maybe Harrison Plaza, Robinson's, etc., during the day.

There is no comparison. HK has a lot of domestic helpers, some look for love, some for money, but really only available on their day off, usually Sunday.

Amateur working girls will be in Wanchai at Neptune, Makati and Laguna, although the latter two are more Indonesian nowadays. US $70 up or you might be lucky with a freebie sometimes. Many Filipina girls coming in on two week holidays chasing money, $120 to $180 up. Very varying quality, I am not sure why fat ugly amatuer country girls come to HK and think they can ask that price, they would have to pay at home.

yes it is, although as there is no official id in the philippines, what they do check is a postal id or student or work id or passport. apart from the last named, none are really secure so if you are doubtful it is best not to take a chance. **** girls do get in by using forged id or simply flashing the id of a friend or relative.

I live in Bangkok so my comments about Manila are colored by what I am accustomed to in Thailand. Nonetheless, pussy is EXPENSIVE in Manila!

Burgos isn't really indicative of Manila (it isn't really in Manila, either). It's a bit of market segmentation run amok, as well as a business model that, like Wanchai, tries to ensure extreme profitability even without take-outs most of the time. You've practically got to be 60+ and Japanese to even consider paying retail for the whole routine. Some guys try to set up dates outside the club and figure the most-stunning girls must work there. But many get tired of running the gauntlet to find out.

EDSA was closer to the price point, though there's a bit of market distortion due to some municipalities being hostile to the type of establishment. (i.e. artificially limited supply).

If you go to Cebu you generally find prices somewhat lower still, but not as low as Angeles, which is the real winner in the category and the great Cheap Charlie bastion. Though I've cut my time allocation there in favor of Manila or Cebu in recent years.

well, this is my first full report. so be nice.

i arrived jan 12th, stayed at the new world hotel (formerly rennaissance). still as nice, as good a service. for those who are not familiar, this is in makati/greenbelt 3, right across from cafe havana/starbucks.

i arrived at 9:30 pm, took a shower and walked down. i sat at cafe havana, ordered a drink, and just too many chicks, from the butt ugly, to gorgeous, to skiny, young, etc. you get the picture. for me this is part of the adventure. the hunting. or the hunting and gathering.

Well, this is my first full report. So be nice.

Well, I am back here in Manila. I found a girl through DIA, we met. She's been with me since last night, and sort of had to tell her, to go, very nicely. I was very nice to her. I stayed in manila 3 days last November. I booked the Eurotel located in Front of Robinson shopping Mall, on Pedro Gil Street. A tricycle is not a more expensive jeepney.

Tricycles are normally LICENSED by the local barangay captain; aren't supposed to leave the brgy; may even have tighter restrictions on how far they can go. Driver might be perfectly willing to go wherever, but there IS law enforcement here; there is also hassles (= costing him bribe money) from cops and the LTO guys. Trike driver has reason to ponder whether he wants to take the chance.

Jeeps go on metro-wide fixed routes. Taxi can also go anywhere, but metro Manila is big. Could easily cost the girl 200-250 out of her barfine. The barfine needs to last until she gets her next one, she can't afford to waste it.

If you are in Angeles 500P tip is average, but for Manila and Makati the prices are higher. You can talk to the girl and Mommasan and get better rates, but if you walk in and point and shoot you will pay top dollar.

Yeah, that Google Earth is incredible. It awe inspires me, let alone my brown-skinned plaything. I actually found and flagged up my house in the Philippines and then often do a quick navigate to somewhere else such as a past address in UK. It never fails to astonish and amuse my admittedly somewhat simple mind;).

Bet the new London is not a patch on the old. Same as, for all its bells and whistles, that new fangled version of York is not as good as its original Yorkshire namesake!
