Sounds like LA Cafe is just making too much money and has fallen behind on payoffs. We all know the girls are freelancers. Some are regulars but many just come there when they need quick money.

However, I do wonder about the 1,500p (almost) fixed price...

Anti-[CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) agency rescues 200 women from Malate

MANILA, Philippines - The government's anti-[CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) task force on Thursday night rescued at least 200 women from a girlie bar in Malate district in Manila.

Retired military officer Jesus Kabigting of the government's Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking said the raid was conducted in response to the US State Department's report on [CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) in the Philippines.

The US State Department said the Philippines remains in the Tier 2 list of countries whose governments have failed to show improved efforts to curb [CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908).

Representatives from the Manila Police District, Department of Social Welfare and Development and Department of Labor of Employment raided the LA Cafe at the corner of M.H. Del Pilar and R. Salas streets in Malate around 10:30 p.m..

Kabigting said majority of the women are being peddled to to foreigners in Malate district. He said some of those rescued were only waitresses, but are also considered as victims of forced labor and [CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908).

He said the women, particularly the prostitutes, will be "rehabilitated" and provided with alternative livelihood.

"Anti-[CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) operations ito... Iyon ang dahilan kaya nagsagawa tayo ng walang humpay na operation against [CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) (This ia an anti-[CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) operation... That is the reason why we are conducting operations against [CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908))," Kabigting told reporters referring to the US State Department's report.

He said similar raids will also be conducted nationwide.

Kabigting assured that charges will be filed against the owner of the bar.

"Whether they have a permit to operate or not, they are committing acts in violation of the anti-[CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) law. We will investigate them," he said.

The US State Department was critical of the Philippine performance in all three benchmarks (prevention, protection and prosecution).

It said that despite several labor trafficking cases were filed, the Philippine government never convicted any offenders.

"Despite overall efforts, the government did not show evidence of significant progress in convicting trafficking offenders, particularly those responsible for labor trafficking,” the US State Department said in its report. -- Report from Francis Faulve, ABS-CBN News

This is really surprising, it does not appear to me that any of the women there were there against there will?

I spoke to one of my contacts in the police.

It is the under-age element they were concerned about. He said that almost HALF the girls they took away were UNDER-AGE. Cause for some caution eh guys.

Sorry mate...just not buying it! Sounds like the police are just CYA (covering their asses). Unless things have changed since Feb., 95% of girls were over 20
and maybe the others were 19ish. Plus throw in a few who were OVERAGED and OVERUSED.

well, economic migrants are not trafficked .. it is just an excuse to ring up a charge. and the [CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) this is a hot word, because it sounds good in front of the american cousins (all filipinos are either connected to us or spain - right??) don't ask too much details ..

anyway, back to the subject matter, got clarification from somebody who knew somebody who knew somebody.

the police charged in hoping to make some money, remember, it is school enrollment now - so they needed to make off with some $. the girls / pros where all legal aged, and anyway, picking those girls will not burn the establishment, as the girls are on their own will, and to burn the girls - you need to have spies who attest that they monitor the pimps/mamasan .. etc. etc - too messy and it is a longer operation right ?

so the cops did what they knew best: picked up a few of the waitresses, because they "looked ****d" - the management knew the score (after all - one of the owners is not new to this trade) so they told the waitresses to rough it out for a night in the cop shed, in lieu of a overtime pay - and, after the girls managed to get their families to produce other forms of identification - birth certificate, passport etc. the cops had meekly told to give atleast 500 peso each to be released. the management had stood strong, and won the fight, and all waitresses released without even a scratch.

now this is where it gets scary - one of the female vocalists had been picked up for being under-age - now which law says you have to be above legal age to sing?? the girl got her connected cousins or somebody to turn up at the station, threaten the cops to release her, and then as a passing grace, shown the girl's passport that shows she is 27 just to drive the cops up the wall...

all's well, and that ended well, and today, the bar should be in full swing.

So if I stay one night at the Marriott near the airport, can I expect to find some action in the hotel bar at night? Order in? Anything in the area? I've heard it's an hour taxi got the monger bars, and as I am getting in late at night, not really an option. Any thoughts welcome.

Ph/rnr/1800561446.html the writer said there was a police raid on Thursday night and a lot of girls rescued? Arrested?

Got to be careful in the land of Mayor Lim

Sex workers rescued
By Nestor Etolle (The Philippine Star) Updated June 19, 2010 12:00 AM

MANILA, Philippines - Combined operatives of the Manila Police District and the Department of Justice rescued Thursday night 251 women, including 18 minors, from a suspected prostitution house fronting as a restaurant in Ermita, Manila.

The operation was ordered by Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim following reports of alleged sex trafficking, exploitation and abuse of minor women at the LA Café, an inexpensive restaurant at M.H. del Pilar, corner Salas streets in Ermita frequented by foreigners looking for cheap sex.

Surveillance operation showed that prostitution is rampant in LA Café wherein female employees of the restaurant openly pimp women guest relations officers (GROs) for sex on the second floor, according to MPD director Chief Superintendent Rodolfo Magtibay. GROs in the place can be sex partners for a fee ranging from P2,500 to P4,000 depending on their age, Magtibay said. Pimps receive a percentage of the sex fee which increases if the foreigner takes the girl out of the restaurant.

LA Café reportedly serves only soft drinks, beer and cheap foods with no girlie shows, thus escaping police arrest.

However, Undersecretary Jose Vicente Salazar, chairman of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) of the Department of Justice, received reports that trafficking and exploitation of women is rampant at the cafe, prompting the agency to coordinate with the MPD to stop the illegal activities at the place. Retired Col. Jess Kabigting, who serves as consultant of IACAT-DOJ, was present during in the entire operation.

The agency has vowed to conduct sustained anti-[CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) operations nationwide following reports released by the US State Department that the Philippines has shown no significant improvement in its record of combating [CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) and has remained on the tier 2 watchlist of problem nations.

Inspector Albert San Jose, chief of the MPD’s Special Task Group, identified the arrested LA Café personnel as Emelinda Viray, 34, manager; Grace Perez, 34, operations manager; Rodalyn Taja, 34; Geraldine Ronquillo, 24, supervisor; Lilia Montanilla, 24, waitress; Carla Serrano, 51; manager; and Nora Jabelosa, 34.

Eighteen GROs were verified to be minors based on dental ageing conducted by dentists of the Office of the Mayor, according to Chief Inspector Anita Araullo who heads the MPD’s Women and Children Desk.

One of the minors, 17-year-old Jenny, told The STAR that she and the other minors were recruited by a certain “Randy Panganiban,” who promised to send them abroad after undergoing training on customer relations at the LA Café. She admitted going out with foreigners for P2,500.

The seven personnel, including the owner, Anselmo Candado who escaped arrest, will be charged with qualified trafficking and violation of the anti-child abuse law, according to Araullo.

Lim ordered yesterday the immediate closure and revocation of permit to operate of the LA Café.

There is not always a direct correlation between what actually happens and what appears in the papers. I have read three different numbers of how many were "arrested" in 3 different papers.
LAC was open last night (Saturday). Very quiet and subdued. Only girls with "valid" IDs were being admitted. Very few punters. But best of all, no more of those awful older, ugly, self-styled "mamasans" running around marketing "their" girls.

Cool, I'll be there Saturday night. Much more manageable. I always tell the waitresses that I like to sit next to one of their stations. At least it helps keep the crap coming from one direction.

That only applies to Children 13 years or younger. Also, the wisdom tooth can start to come out anywhere from 16 to 23. Dental aging proves nothing whatsoever.

That is a VERY interesting post. Previously some guys said banks were reluctant to open bank accounts to guys not residing in the phils with the noticable exception of HSBC which requires you have always at least 100K pesos on your account. I don't want to "freeze" 2, 000 USD or 1600 euros in a phil bank.

Hotel adress worked but. When they ship you the new atm card or the statements when you'll leave the hotel it will be returned to the bank as no longer live there. Isn't it going to be a problem?

Can you confirm that a european (or american) can open a bank account in any BdO in MNL with let's say 20 or 30K and get an ATM card?

All I need is an IBAN to cash in and an ATM card to cash out.BDO is one of the best, Metrobank is absolute crap, and BPI in my opinion is one of the best. HSBC quite bad, and the minimum maintaining balence is 100,000. Really not worth it at all. Citibank is the best of all but the maintaining balance is 300,000. The big advantage is you can transfer USD almost for free from other citibanks around the world, including your home country. The easiest way thus is to use the USD to maintain the maintaining balance. You can convert into PH Pesos when the rate is good and then use this as needed in the PH. To transfer money to locals is thus simple. If you have a BDO account, for example, she just needs to open an account for her, you register her as an autorised person for transfert, and then just transfer the money from abroad to her account through internet as needed. It's completely free.

You indeed need to be resident to open an account, so that may be a problem, but you only need to have two valid ID most of the time. In reality, you need to have only one local ID, the other one can be your passport. You could make for yourself a driving license ID in Quiapo if that's a problem.

Continuation of my previous post http://www.internationalsexguide.info/forum/showpost.php?p=1029461&postcount=5190

Spent 2 consecutive nights pulling from different go-go bars at the complex.

EDSA - Cotton Club

Arrived late. Past midnight. A dozen or so girls left on stage. Thin on talent, no-one too inspiring. Walked right in ignoring the stage and sat at the bar next to a pretty GRO (not a regular stage dancer) I eventually pulled. Definitely not a SYT but I was in the mood for curves and maturity. ;) BF PHP 1600, DFK, BBBJ, DATY, multiple shots offered and received. GFE quotient high but bordering on fake. Left my room happy the next morning at about 8 am with a PHP 3000 tip. (Was quoted ST for PHP 2500 - turned into semi-LT so I gave what I thought was fair)

EDSA - Casino

Arrived even later than the day before. Around 1 am. Also a dozen or so girls left on stage plus a few Japanophile hopefuls circulating on the floor. About 2 or 3 do-able. Made my choice on a Japanophile SYT. BF PHP 1600, DFK, BBBJ, DATY, multiple shots offered and received. GFE quotient high. Left my room happy the next morning at about 9 am with a PHP 3000 tip.3000 is way too high in my opinion. As a guiding rule, tip should be max the barfine, so no more than 1500. If you are not happy, less. Better fix the rate beforehand. If you don't, the girl will tell you anything afterwards.

Not that long ago it was possible to get a girl in LA cafe (and much much better quality than the common variety nowadays) for just 500 short time and 1000 long time. Nowadays it seems that they quote 1500 short time. Yes, the prices went up but the quality went down. But 3000 is crazy. Thats what I would pay for a whole week end, and only if I am happy.

When I was runing a contract in the Phils, I needed plenty of cash, because at teh time, it was mostly a cash economy.

I used HSBC, and I was very pleased with the service.

I could walk in at any time and withdraw 200k, 300k with no problems. They always had plenty of cash on hand.

And the ATMs dispensed the largest payouts of all the banks in Manila.

I was very pleased with the service.

The main drawback at teh time was the paucity of ATMs around the country. It was not much of a problem for me at the time, as I was living in Ortigas, and the bank was 5 min walk away.

Wow, that's clever - I wonder how they do that? How can a dentist tell a 16 year old from an 18 year old purely from an oral inspection? It would be a smart trick if it were true but sounds like pure bs to me.

MANILA, Philippines—The Center of Hope, a safe house for victims and survivors of [CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) pursuing legal cases against their traffickers, was recently inaugurated on a lot purchased in part with the help of a sizable donation from J.K. Rowling, author of the famous “Harry Potter” series of books.

The building, which has two floors and a basement and sits on a 1,500-square-meter property in Antipolo City, was constructed by the Visayan Forum Foundation Inc. (VFFI) and the Angelo King Foundation.

VFFI, which has ongoing projects funded by the United States government, has been working for the welfare and protection of children and women against child labor and [CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) and has been concerned with the plight of domestic helpers.

The US Embassy joined the VFFI, the Angelo King Foundation, Microsoft, and Boysen Philippines in launching the Center of Hope on May 28.

The launch was attended by Leslie Bassett, deputy chief of mission of the US embassy, who was the guest of honor, as well as Justice Undersecretary Jose Vicente Salazar, civic and philanthropy groups, non-government organizations, law enforcement agencies, and business groups.

Cecilia Flores-Oebanda, VFFI president and executive director, said the Center of Hope is their foundation’s response to the lack of facilities to secure and prepare victims for successful prosecution.

According to the United States of America Department of State Trafficking in Persons report, the Philippines is a major source and transit area for trafficking, specifically for forced labor and prostitution.

I have tried PNB, BPI, and Metrobank over the 13 years that I have lived here and HSBC is the best.
HSBC allows me to set up a peso, a USD and an AUD account and each can be accessed easily through ATMs. Their on-line facility is also excellent and I can pay many of my bills on-line.
I have retained an ATM only account at PNB in case I cannot access cash through my HSBC cards at the more remote places. The big banks work on a system called "Megalink" so I can always get cash through any of their ATMs if I am stuck.

So what is the status of LAC. Open Closed?Open. But the Manila Mayor had issued orders to close an icon of Malate. Not sure what is going on. Maybe another 4 million peso donation is needed to recoup the election expenses.

As for the NGOs being active in rescuing women, I read a story. In Nigeria, there is so much funding for people who die of Aids, so much so, every death is recorded as aids related, so the foreign NGOs can seek donation and pump in the money to keep their operations running smoothly, whizzing around in their Land Cruisers and Satellite phones and private aircrafts fully paid for months in advance.

Similarly, in a South Asian country, they had discovered that the literacy has exceeded 90%, and suddenly the minister had instructed that the literacy was only 50%. Because, at 90%, millions of dollars worth of Foreign aid will be at jeopardy. And lo and behold, the statistics dept issued an apology blaming the error on faulty computer equipment and the literacy was only 50%. And this country is one of the largest exporter of white collar labor. Not even 10% of the foreign workers from this country are blue collar.

Life in asia. Is always on a roll.

Question:

I think most people here are Caucasian. Any advice for those of us of SE Asian descent? I am American, but brown. On my visit to Philippines, I have not been propositioned not even once. I have not been to any of the bars in Manila, but would like to check them out. I do not know what to expect going in as a brown-skinned, non-Tagalog speaking American.

Thanks in advance.Man, I wish I was like you. It's true that caucasians get a special treatment, but they don't get the best girls, and they get a lot of rip off. If they know you have a lot of money, you'll get them all and won't be tagged as a mark. Just look at the Koreans and Japaneses - they can virtually do whatever they want. If only there was a magic potion to change me at will into an Asian-looking guy, I would drink it on the spot! :)

Hung out last week at the hotel bar early in the evening and chatted up the waitress. I had a day to kill over the weekend before travel to BKK, and asked if she'd see me the next day. Great tits and a little chunky, but she had a sexy playfulness that had me thinking what nasty things I could do. Anyway, we had lunch and she started telling me about her old Aussie boyfriend who left her high and dry (but at least w/o a kid).

After a couple beers, it's back to the hotel and she gets crazy horny. Not faking it, because her pussy was leaking like a 72 Buick dripping oil. Things then got freaky as she flipped me over and started eating my assh*le. I returned the favor and she went nuts. Saying she hadn't had nutty sex like this since her old boyfriend. Save the lectures, as I know I was insane to do this, but she got crazy horny, mounted my cowgirl, and dropped down on my stiffy bareback. She started screaming "F*ck me f*ck me" and it was over for me.

We took a shower and were going to grab some dinner, but damn if we didn't get started all over. Anal was on the menu this time, but I got smart and went with a lid. I've never been with a chick that was so damn horny and sensitive to having her nipples pulled. Nothing better than seeing her yank on her own tits while I drove it home.

I don't have her digits, but leave this report to remind you mongers that action is out there outside the regular P4P bars, and it can be freaky. Keep your antennae up, fellows.

I can open HSBC for free through my local bank here or in PI, no maintianing balance required, no residency. Lots of paperwork though

The 100,000 balance is for HSBC banks that are denoted 'investment' and there is a 5,000 balance for account opened in a 'savings' banks (maybe the other away around cant remember).

I enquired in PI and would have opened there but due to the lack of aircraft one day was unable to get to bank before the weekend and then returned here where I saw the account manager, filled in loads of forms and silly questions about tax numbers (I dont have) and was told it would be opened in a month as "the Philippines can be very slow". And no charge...not BS.

I wait and see and am patient..something you learn where I work and from being in the PI so if it works will FR

It took a while for me too despite having all the foreign expat / embassy-based IDs. My company was using HSBC as the preferred bank too.

But once it was done then it has been smooth sailing now for around 8 years. They have also waived all of my deposit/withdrawal fees too because I direct-deposit my salary cheques into the account.

The great thing too is they have the HSBC ATMS in Cebu, your happy hunting-ground, and you can pull out 50,000 there no worries.

Open. But the Manila Mayor had issued orders to close an icon of Malate. Not sure what is going on. Maybe another 4 million peso donation is needed to recoup the election expenses.

Life in asia. Is always on a roll.Well if it was P4 mill they still have a lot more to collect to balance their books

"He said should he be elected mayor of Manila, he will focus on providing better health care; upgrading hospital facilities and purchasing equipment; generating more jobs; improving educational institutions; making the city more business-friendly, and curbing crime through peace and order measures, “with emphasis on order.”

“My calling comes with my realization that I have not served my city after 34 years of serving in the police force. But I will continue to run because what I am fighting for is for the people of Manila. ,” Razon said.

Razon said a mayoralty candidate in Manila would need at least P120 million for his campaign.

“I will get funding from donations and firms. I will choose them so that I will not be beholden to them. We will also have a dinner for a cause. There are also some well-meaning friends who give help,” he said.

From a Manila mayoral candidate.

I think that the surprise is that it took Lim so long to get around to LA Café. The miserable, old anhedonist has a long track record of being anti-nightlife which is why he targeted Ermita bars in the early nineties and closed down Baywalk a couple of years ago. I wouldn’t mind but the promised gentrification programme for the area is just a distant pipedream and the place will remain a dirty, third world, crime riddled shit hole.

I guess if LA Café closes, then Amazonia, G Point and other local bars will take on the load. Or are they also threatened?

G Point can't handle the load due to size constraints and I also question whether they really want those skanks in there. The G Point girls seem to generally be a level up.

Found my hotel was right next to LA Cafe...not intentional but a nice surprise. Went down on Monday for my first ever visit, still quite crowded.
LA Cafe is not as bad as many rumors I have heard. Quite like Beach Club in KL. Normal looking bar, nothing fancy, but nothing overly seedy either. Plenty of girls in ground floor, but no stunners, mostly 6-7s, or lower. Maybe 2-3 8's. But good thing they are all polite, not too pushy, so you can take your time and enjoy.
DON'T order a pizza, it is the worst pizza I have ever had!
Ordered a small barrel of beer 518PHP and you get your own barell, not sure how many mugs inside but must be 15 or more! Enough to last you the night so good bang for bucks.

Later went upstairs to the "club" and live-band which was pretty quiet. But ended up finding a girl - Cathy.

Girl: Cathy (Phils)
Age: 23
Face: 8/10
Height: 163cm(assume)
Weight: 50 (assume)
Whole Look: 7/10 (with clothes)
Breasts: B Cup
Pussy: Very, very wet
Butt: Flat
Body: 6/10 a lot of stretchmarks on lower tummy and thighs/ass. But slim.
BBBJJ: 7/10 normal
Anal: Didn't ask
Catbath: No
Moan: Natural
DATY: Didn't try
GFE: 8/10
WIR: maybe
Damage: 2000PHP, mummy tip 500PHP (was later told that 100PHP mummy tip would have been enough)

Note, not all girls in LA Cafe have mummy, maybe only the ones upstairs...
LA Cafe is worth a vist. Still haven't tried many of the other places.

Manila Day 3:

Had been in touch with a girl in DIA, she wasn't able to see me, but suggested a friend for me. I accepted for a dinner, when calling the girl and setting it up she asks if she can bring two friends. I agree, so we are going to meet at a mall, I will pay the taxi. They arrive and it is a girl I would rate face 3/10 and she has brought an old couple I later learn is the uncle and aunt of the first girl! They are in their 50's/60's! I am happy I agreed to meet them at a mall where I can dump them fast. Go for a pizza dinner, they order and I have to pay of course...pissed off. Give them money for taxi after and say good bye. They suggested we would go to bars together...my ass!

Anyway, plan b was another DIA girl.
This one was much better. Met her and had a lot of fun, went to bar, disco and ktv before ending up at my room (wanted to try and see more of Manila before we jumped in the sack)

Girl: Kate (phils)
Age: 23
Face: 7/10
Height: 150cm(assume)
Weight: 35-40kg (assume)
Whole Look: 7/10 (with clothes)
Breasts: A/B Cup
Pussy: Tight
Butt: Normal
Body: 7/10 slim, also had a baby, but could not really see it on her body much
BBBJJ: 8/10 very good, dt
AR: yes
Anal: Didn't ask
Moan: Natural
DATY: Didn't try
GFE: 8/10
WIR: maybe
Damage: 2000PHP, not sure about this, when I handed her the money she asked "what is this for", I said it was for her time and transport and she accepted of course. Quite sure she was a FL though, maybe just trying to see if I was BF material...which I am not! :)

Salas streets in Malate around 10:30 p.m.

"Despite overall efforts, the government did not show evidence of significant progress in convicting trafficking offenders, particularly those responsible for labor trafficking," the US State Department said in its report. -- Report from Francis Faulve, ABS-CBN News

Inspector Albert San Jose, chief of the MPD's Special Task Group, identified the arrested LA Café personnel as Emelinda Viray, 34, manager; Grace Perez, 34, operations manager; Rodalyn Taja, 34; Geraldine Ronquillo, 24, supervisor; Lilia Montanilla, 24, waitress; Carla Serrano, 51; manager; and Nora Jabelosa, 34.

Eighteen GROs were verified to be minors based on dental ageing conducted by dentists of the Office of the Mayor, according to Chief Inspector Anita Araullo who heads the MPD's Women and Children Desk.

One of the minors, 17-year-old Jenny, told The STAR that she and the other minors were recruited by a certain \u201cRandy Panganiban,\u201d who promised to send them abroad after undergoing training on customer relations at the LA Café.

Lim orders closure of Manila bar

MANILA, Philippines - Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim has ordered the immediate closure of a bar in Malate where over 200 women, including minors, were rounded up Thursday night following reports that the establishment was used as a front for prostitution.

Ordered closed down was L.A. Café located at the corner of M.H. Del Pilar and Salas Streets in Malate, including its annex just across the street.

Lim's order was based on a recommendation made by Manila social welfare chief Jay dela Fuente, who said that several minors were found working in the establishment.

Dela Fuente said that charges of qualified [CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) and child abuse were filed against the managers of the bar identified as Emelinda Viray, Rodalyn Taja and Grace Perez; supervisor Lilia Montanilla; and Carla Serrano and Nora Abellosa, who allegedly served as pimps.

Prior to last Thursday's raid, the International Justice Mission wrote Lim to complain about the operations of the L.A. Café which it claimed was engaged in prostitution, catering mainly to foreign customers and employing even minors.

Following surveillance operations, the raid was conducted by teams of city and police officials, the Department of Justice.

Must say that I have banked with Metrobank for several years and have never had a problem with them. Now if you want a really crap bank, take a look at Landbank:).Well, their online internet service is bad, and they are way too strict (no remitances for a long while) and charge a lot for operation. I wanted to close my account with them but they did it themselves. Since they were so bad I hardly ever used the account, so it became "dormant". This means you can't access it anymore unless you go to a branch sign a lot of stuff, and they start deducing a fee every month until nothing is left on the account, after which they close it. In my experience, only Union bank is worst than Metro bank. But OK - over the counter Metrobank is not that bad. If you want to use the account over the internet, though, I would recommend Bdo and BPI.

Man, I wish I was like you. :)I would make a little correction to that.

Mark it as Japanese - followed by Koreans, in that order. The rest of the Asians such as Chinese and Indians are lower in the pecking order.

Then again, the smarter girls tend to hit on Chinese and Indians, as they know with Japs and Koreans, life may be a wild ride in terms of earning power, but that stops the moment the guy looses interest. Whereas enough Chinese and Indians end up marrying the girl.

The 100,000 balance is for HSBC banks that are denoted 'investment' and there is a 5,000 balance for account opened in a 'savings' banks (maybe the other away around cant remember). Yes, there is a difference between HSBC and HSBC Savings bank. I once tried to access my account through the HSBC Savings bank and they told me it was impossible since they are two different bank... Dunno about maintaining balance in the Savings branch.

Overall service of HSBC is ok but their internet not very good, and internal email system really the worst I know. I got angry with their credit card services. They would only allow me a 60,000 pesos or what max use, even though I had been a customer for many years. Citibank gave me a 300,000 limit right away on opening. Am past a million now. At HSBC I once was late paying a few hundreds pesos on my credit card. They closed my online access to the credit card, charged me 1000+ fine and I could not handle the case through their normal internet system but was handed over to the "collection department" like a criminal. I was so pissed off at them I closed my credit card with them and since then only maintain the ridiculously high maintaining balance and barely use the account anymore. I get way much better service from BPI whose maintaining balance is 1000 pesos! As for ATM, BPI is all over the Philippines (though it's true that not always in some remote provinces). In Citibank you get in addition a personnal account officer which is handy too, but ok, it's a 300,000 maintaing balance, expensive unless you have use for it like I do.

The BPI ATM card only takes a 4 digit number..whicch is very different to all the 6 digit numbers required by HSBC cards in all countries.

All Philippine banks play this shitty trick and it is something that I detest. Whilst you maintain a minimum balance of P5000 or whatever, you get free banking. But fall one centavo under this minimum balance and the bank will start charging you P150-180 a month until you either top up the account or everything is gone.

Not as bad as Landbank though which used to charge you for banking with them no matter how much you had in the account. When I lived in the provinces, my partner used to insist on banking with them for some unfathomable reason. Getting money out of them was a nightmare and used to take at least an hour of waiting in various queues before they relented and deigned to give me back some of my money. Now that was one badass bank:D.

That's not just Philippine banks...I had a U.S. bank start charging me every month when my account fell below a certain amount, and trust me the amounts are significantly more then what you quoted for the Philippine banks.

Reports just given to me by a friend staying in Malate that LAC is now (as of Tuesday evening) closed with a big red CLOSED sign across the front, and the security guards sitting in front.
Some uncertainty about whether this second raid happened soon after midnight or soon after midday today, but my source thought it was noon today (maybe to catch the under-age college girls who might be there).
This is a report given to me by a mate staying in Malate- I have not personally been there to verify it (and don't plan to)

It was reported on the TV that the Australian owner was in hiding.

Thanks for info D I will look into that. I dont want a CC etc just ATM. I use HSBC as I use it everyhere in the world so is convenient for me less hassle on customer forms as email from my main branch sort it all out. If I run out of patience will use your suggestions.

To bad about LAC. Change is change and what is forsure is that there will be change. But for the old timers (me) this just another one of the changes that i would of like to happen after i was gone. This recently happen in Brazil with the close of Help. LA was like a cat let see if it has a few more lives. One less choice for those that like freedom.

I checked out LAC and it is indeed closed. The cab driver said there is already a new place on Roxa Boulevard, but he wouldn't name it, but was willing to drive me there ;-P we'll see.

Now that was one badass bank:D.Had a funny incident with HSBC in Shanghai. I went to close my account but they needed to see my passport, driving licence, fill in a long form etc. Too much admin so instead I withdrew almost all contents and left RMB1 in the account.

Every month some sweet young lady calls me and asks me if I could please close my acccount. This has been going on for past 5 years.

reports just given to me by a friend staying in malate that lac is now (as of tuesday evening) closed with a big red closed sign across the front, and the security guards sitting in front.
some uncertainty about whether this second raid happened soon after midnight or soon after midday today, but my source thought it was noon today (maybe to catch the under-age college girls who might be there).

Was in Manila yesterday, read an article in local paper about Lim making a personal trip to LAC to padlock the cafe himself, article quoted him saying he wanted to make sure the place was shut down permanently and never reopened even under another name. I'd say look elsewhere for quite a while. Havana was pretty busy last night, I had good luck there.

Years and years ago, the guy did the same to some great bars and nightspots in Malate/Ermita.

Then he did the same to the popular attractions on Roxas Boulevard.

Anywhere where people might be having a good time, he wants to show hes the Sheriff and shut it down. Makes for a great photo-op but thats about all Damn hes 79....who are the folks who vote for this guy ?

I wouldn't hold my breath. Mayor Lim is reported as telling the authorities to ensure it doesn't reopen again somewhere else under another name.
I guess some other place in the area might try to pick up some of the slack but they will need to be careful.
I noted G Point had a smallish sign on the front window last year (not sure if it is still there?) saying something like "prostitution is not permitted in this establishment" so they were aware that there is some sort of a fine line between a bar and a ..whatever?.

LA closing. Will what the Phil needs to do is look at how progress can improve on a money maker for all. There are serveral countries (not the US )that do a great job manageing entertainment locations. When government steps in like Phil did it puts most of the pain on the locals. Saying goes something like when you tax the rick shut them down the locals feel the pain. It would be better to set up legal business (amazing LAC) and manage age and have accounting of reciepts entrance fee etc. Instead shut down gives pimps and makes legal citizens criminals. Ah just venting this is a smoke screen anyway wonder what this guy is really hidding. smile

Greetings all! Been hanging around on this forum for years but never really posted anything of interest, but popped my PI cherry last night and thought the story was interesting enough to post. Sorry, this ended up being pretty long.

Got to Manila early, arrived at 8AM, made it to the Astor Hotel by 915AM (morning rush hour traffic in Manila is horrible, well, ok, the traffic seems to always be horrible). First impressions: traffic, smog, and more smog. Been to Bangkok, that place has downright organized traffic and clean air compared to Manila IMO.

Couldn't check in to the hotel yet, so dropped off my bags and started walking. I'm young (27, decent shape), and I've lived in the tropics for a few years so the heat was just about what I expected, but I wouldn't advise wandering around downtown on foot if you're not used to the heat. Hit starbucks and a national bookstore to kill some time, then walked from Astor to Greenbelt, wandered around the malls (huge, reminded me of Singapore malls) and killed an hour or so in the Alaya museum, pretty nice (and cool).

Ate lunch at a forgettable burger place in Greenbelt 2, then walked back to the hotel. Note: the underpass configuration in the vicinity of the Mandarin Oriental (Makati and Alaya ave intersection I think?) is really confusing. I kept going up and down the stairs and turning circles like 3 times and couldn't figure out how to get to the other side of Makati. Finally one of the traffic police took pity on me and laughingly told me how to do it. Stupid me.

Anyway, back to the hotel, took a nap. Got up around seven and decided to go to Havana Cafe. I'd checked it out during my earlier walk to Greenbelt and it seemed pretty nice (though empty at the time). Took the hotel taxi for 200p (yeah probably too much, who cares, I'm only going to be here a week). Got to Havana about 8PM, ordered a Mojito and chilled at my table for an hour or two. A lot of pretty obvious FL in the park area next to HC, but the crowd at the cafe itself is mostly couples or groups of 4-5. Saw two or three other single dudes sitting at tables similar to what I was doing (Hi to anyone reading this).

Made eye contact with a group of five ladies, they finally waved me over and made room for me at their table. Ranged between 24 and 27, all well educated, nicely dressed, obviously not WG. Talked for about five minutes before the skies opened up and dumped rain. Elbowed our way into the little indoor area at HC but it was way too crowded and noisy, so after buying a round of drinks for all five we wandered back outside and hung out under the overhanging balcony.

Here's where it got weird: One of the girls in the group takes me aside and starts lecturing me about how I don't know what I'm getting into, and I'll be sorry if I take any of these girls back home, and that I "don't know who she is" and she straight up tells me she wants me to leave right now so that there isn't any trouble. I'm moderately drunk at this point, but not stupid, so being my first time here I think WTF but I decide I'll listen to her. Two of the girls (24yo and 27yo) are all over me but I try and excuse myself and walk out towards the taxi area out front. I hear them all yelling at me to come back but I keep walking. I make it to the taxi area and there's a security guard there that looks a little bewildered by the scene that ensues, me trying to get in a taxi, two girls grabbing either arm trying to stop me from getting in the taxi, two other girls standing and watching, and the fifth (*****) girl keeps yelling at me to leave and saying she knows all the security guards and it's better if I get out of here. This is just bizarre. I get in the taxi finally and head to Burgos street.

Get out and walk all the way from one end to the other, I think I get offered five massages, four boxes of dick pills, and about half a dozen attempts to get me into one bar or another. Turn around at the end and walk back to the beginning and holy shit, the girls from Havana are all piling out of a taxi, four of them, minus the one crazy ***** girl from earlier. They run right up to me and start jabbering away about how surprised they are to see me (I was pretty surprised too, it had to be an accident because there's no way they followed me). Weird. So we all bar hop around, for half an hour or so. One of the girls knows the owner of Handlebar so we end up there for about 2 hours, drinking and eating a few snacks.

Gets to be almost 2AM and everyone is getting a little tired. Everyone had pretty much sobered up by that point too so after some discussion the two girls that were all over me before decide that they're ok to "share" me and both want to come back to the hotel. Didn't really expect this, but who am I to argue.

Once we get back to the hotel I can tell that this is new to all three of us. I make out with the 24yo while the 27yo goes and grabs a shower, by the time she comes out her friend has my entire dick in her mouth and she just stands there as she comes out of the bathroom looking kind of shocked. It was pretty funny. So then the 24yo goes and takes a shower and I kiss with the 27yo for a while, but she's definitely a lot more shy than the other one. The other girl comes back from the shower and jumps on me, the 27yo says she's shy and will "try it in the morning". I don't mind and proceed to get it on with the 24yo for about an hour, she's a lot of fun and keeps trying to get her friend to join, saying "hey xxxx watch this, see what you're missing, come join. " but the other girl has none of it and I'm sure she was asleep by the time we finish at after 4AM. I crash out hard and wake up at about 9AM when the 27yo jumps me while the 24yo is still sleeping, we go for a while and then look at photos on my laptop for an hour until it's time for everyone to leave. No money changes hands, I'm kind of worried about insulting them, and I probably spent about 1500p on food and drinks the night before anyway. We trade email addresses for the pictures on her camera from bar hopping the night before and I check out of my hotel and head to Angeles by bus, where I end up being so tired I don't go out and end up sitting in my hotel writing this instead of meeting beautiful women. I figure two in one night makes up for a zero tonight.

First impressions of Angeles are that it's not my kind of thing, I feel a little out of place being a younger dude without anyone to hang with. Anyone in Angeles feel like showing a new guy the ropes Wednesday night?

Good report, just watch your yourself. Crashing hard with two girls in your room after the drama at CH:( But at least it worked out good for you. Maybe you should of tipped something?

Go to Lost In Asia on Perimeter Road today at 2 pm. Look for Duke (manager) tell him that it is your first visit and you read on ISG to come and see him. He will give you some good advice and there are some nice ladies in there:) I will email him and tell him CollegeMan may stop in, so after you meet him, just tell him your username.

How long are you in town? I will arrive 1 July for 5 days.

Yes BPI ATM is fine with branches in most places. I like when the screen oepns that you are asked if you want " English or Taglish".

The BPI ATM card only takes a 4 digit number..whicch is very different to all the 6 digit numbers required by HSBC cards in all countries.
I love the BPI ATM (one of many) at SM Cebu. When you insert your card, and before you input your pin, the money door opens as the ATM is playing soft music and then on the screen it says "You Wish:D"

Whats your opinion of Astor? Im booked for August but info is hard to find....I liked the Astor. Internet was free and worked pretty well (I was on the 18th floor in an executive (read: basic) room. Didn't check out the pool, but the lobby was nice and had some breakfast down there (not free) before I left in the morning. Service was good, everybody was friendly. Only downside was no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get the shower to be very hot, it was lukewarm at best. I also ended up in a room with two single beds instead of one king bed, a little grunt work and I moved them both together so not a big deal really. I can't remember what I specified when I reserved the room (through Agoda.com). For the price (I think about $60US), I recommend it, as the location was very good (3 min walk to Burgos, 20-30 min walk to Greenbelt).

Robbaf: Thanks for the advice. I'll go down to Lost In Asia this afternoon. I've got a map bookmarked here on the laptop here somewhere. I'm only in Angeles until Friday, then I am spending the rest of my time in Subic until I fly back out next Tuesday night from Manila.

Especially when the girls say "you don't know who I am" I just tell them that I don't want to know who she is other than she is a woman looking for trouble and picking on innocent foreigners.!

BTW, as for the other member's question on Astor, it is nicely located, walking distance to P Burgos, and while some rooms are clearly old looking, some smell brand new. I think they have been doing some renovation.

And the good thing is. The breakfast is excellent, and with a mercury drug store next door, and 7-11 across the road, not much is missed.

One more thing. You can strike deals with the hotel taxi, so for 600 to 1000 peso per day, the driver will be more than happy to meet you away from the hotel. As they have some contractual agreement. And tour you around, and the taxi drivers there outside Astor are not out for money, so they will not make it a point to drag you to bars where they get a cut. More like a personal chauffer.

Try it out.

BTW, Best Western rates varied between 90 S$ to 120 S$ when I checked in, checked out and checkde in a few days later. Never bothered to find out the price difference, though the 120 S$ room was smaller but looked fresher and higher floor.

Most Filipinas are to shy/proud to ever ask you for money so you have to be tactful about it and just put the money in their purse or their pocket. Dont make a big show of it, just fold it and slide it discreetly out of view without mentioning. But do it with them watching in full view so they know you have done it. They will think you are the most sophisticated gentleman in the world.

As for those girls who never ask for money, like those in bars, I don't put a 'market rate' I just slip in atleast 3,000 or more, if I have more cash. After all, wouldn't a regular ***** end up wiping that much off ?

if you do keep in touch with the girls, I would suggest you surprise them with some internet delivery of some gift vouchers - as I did to some girls when I honestly ran out of money - go to pldtonline website - you can order shopping voucher - each worth 1000 peso (I normally order atleast 3 X 1000 peso) - and get it home delivered to her, so she can use it and not feel obligated, as it is not cash that exchanged hands. I prefer the SM vouchers, which are more like - pre-paid cards, and they can used for multiple purchases. That way you don't feel bad, and the girls dont feel offended ..

Had a crazy time last night in Angeles, thanks for the tip to head to Lost in Asia, started up there at about 3PM and had a lot of fun by the time I finally made it back (not alone of course) to Pacific Breeze about 2:30AM. Spent a few hours after Perimeter bars closed at R&B, a local music place, was entertaining live music but very very loud, ouch. Will post more later, I just made it to Subic and need to sleep before I start wandering around here tonight.

First impression on Wild Orchid: not so nice, especially for the cost. Room isn't that good, smells kind of funny, just looks old, which is surprising, because I thought this was a pretty new resort. At least there's more to this place than just a hotel room, but I'm too tired to go look right now. Maybe I'll try a different room tomorrow.

With all due respect Wild Rover, Mayor Lim has a reputation as being "clean" and not on the take. If it was as simple as that then LAC would still be open along with all the other bars that he has closed down around Malate and Ermita.
He is actually more of a moral crusader which presents more of a problem for the future of some of these places.

Figure thats its 5 years since the last renovation. Thats 1,367 nights.

Figure that on the occupied nights every occupant has at least one partner, maybe 2.

Gets close to 1500 women have been in that room. And you think it only smells " funny". lol.

I reckon that the hoteliers in the Ermita area must be cursing Lim and his cronies. They do, after all, make most of their income from SMART's (Single,Male, Affluent and Randy Tourists) and so I guess that their room occupancy and future bookings will have taken a severe hit. After all, why would anyone otherwise willingly elect to stay in such a grotty dump as Ermita if not for LA Cafe and similar venues. If Lim really goes into crusade overdrive and shuts down other places, I visualize Ermita's tourist numbers really will nosedive. Pity all them poor, out of work wh@res, beggars, muggers, scammers, pimps and all the other assorted dross that give the area such colour and character:D.

I wonder if LA Cafe will be having a fire sale? Would love to get my hands on a memento of the place, particularly one of those nicotine coloured statuettes that lined the downstairs bar. The Laurel and Hardy was a particular favourite.

You might be surprised CS. Sex tourists are not major spenders in the area.
There are lots of tour groups that use many of the hotels around that area for the one night transit between Manila and elsewhere. A friend of mine in the travel industry from Davao says they use those Malate hotels a lot because they are relatively cheap and are closer to airport than the Makati ones.

From La Cafe , walk across to Mabini St. Note which way the traffic is going (its one way traffic) . Walk against the traffic flow (North Easterly direction) in Mabini St and you will be walking in the right direction , to Padre Faura St , turn left into Padre Faura, G.Spot is on the right hand side at 510 Padre Faura (just past Watsons Store)

With all due respect Wild Rover, Mayor Lim has a reputation as being "clean" and not on the take. If it was as simple as that then LAC would still be open along with all the other bars that he has closed down around Malate and Ermita.
He is actually more of a moral crusader which presents more of a problem for the future of some of these places.Very True. I heard the reason he acted so fast was the owners of LAC supported Lim's opponent in the last election to the tune of 10M Pesos:D

From LA Cafe location cross the small street to Mabini. Make a left going towards the Padre faura ( Traffic is flowing the same way ). Make a right at Padre faura and G POINT is right there.
To get a better idea search google map-510 Padre Faura. It lists LA CAFE and G POINT.
Would appreciate current situation there since LA cafe closed by someone in Manila right now. Last time I went it did not appeal to me.

Very True. I heard the reason he acted so fast was the owners of LAC supported Lim's opponent in the last election to the tune of 10M Pesos:D

RobbVery likely. Lim did not hesitate to close the whole Bay Walk mostly just because it has been created by the same opponent, Atienza. Bay walk was a thriving business, nothing to do with mongering, making millions for local business, and bringing life to the area. Motto of Atienza during this campaign: "bring back life to Manila". Lim is a demagogue supposedly "building hospital for the poor" but he really is a life-killer, pseudo-moral crusader who did already a lot of harm for his country, basically keeping his constituents in poverty. LAC represented all of what he hates, plus they almost for sure did support Atienza, even financially (who in their right mind wouldn’t). All the more reasons to close it down.

LAC was another place that was bringing tremendous life in Manila. It was always thriving. This being said, though, the quality of girls of late was so low (though stunners could be found occasionally) that it’s not that big a loss after all. I for one was barely going there anymore, and when I did, I just quickly rounded the place, had a drink and left empty-handed. Amazonia and G-point will probably now take over from LAC.

My only question is: "why did he not close it sooner"? He had a whole mandate to do it and yet it was still there, something I found rather amazing. The reason he acted now thus has most probably to do with the fact that the owner supported Atienza.

Too right. Baywalk was a prime example of the way in which those in positions of power in this country will act arbitrarily and with complete and total disregard for the good of the people. Baywalk was a tremendous earner, a tourist and local magnet (and babe magnet, incidentally:)), thronged every night with folk simply out having a good time, listening to live bands, eating and drinking. They even had there own security, who zipped around on bicycles, and so was comparatively safe. And then along came the killjoy ghost from the past who because of his previous history with Atienza, closes the whole scene down almost overnight, throwing many out of much needed work. If this had happened in a ‘civilized’ country, the outcry would have been enormous but most Filipinos seem to be resigned and tolerant of the self serving and irrational acts of their so called leaders.

I’m sure if Lim had his way, he would close every bar in Manila, and force everyone to go to bed at 10 every night after saying their prayers. Like he probably does. But he is an octogenarian now so probably cannot last that much longer. Can he:eek:?

Is GSpot or Amazonia getting all the customers now or is there a better place to go?

Good question! Who exactly did vote for him? I would say that he bought votes from the poor and disadvantaged in the usual cynical Philippine style by way of gifts and empty promises. But Lim has never been a particular champion of the poor and one of his first acts as Mayor (just before he closed Baywalk) was to bulldoze a large squatter community in Manila!

What he did do was almost instantly axe some of Atienza's better civil projects within Manila. So Baywalk had to go as did the rather nice pedestrianized zone that had put in place along Avenida. This was reopened to traffic almost overnight without any prior traffic planning or consultation. So chaos ensued as there was no consideration given to extraneous niceties such as signs or lights! Absolutely barmy but hey this is The Philippines and good sense and logic don't really apply here.

Someone claimed that Lim was a crusader and not as corrupt and power mad as most other influential Philippine political figures. Good joke. And wasn't his son caught in a drug sting with several hundred thousand pesos worth of Shabu, not too long ago? Chip off the old block:).

Bar owner files complaint vs Manila mayor

By Tina Santos
Philippine Daily Inquirer

THE OWNER OF A BAR IN MALATE, MANIla, which was shut down by the city government on Tuesday following reports that it was being used as a front for prostitution, Friday filed a civil complaint against Mayor Alfredo Lim.

Anselmo Candado, owner and operator of L.A. Cafe at the corner of R. Salas and M.H. del Pilar Streets filed a complaint for mandamus and damages in the Manila Regional Trial Court against Lim, saying he was not accorded due process when the mayor ordered the closure.

Also named defendant in the case was secretary to the mayor, lawyer Rafaelito Garayblas, who reportedly signed the closure order.

Apart from Candado, the other plaintiffs were his employees Eve Loro and Julius Cesar Lorenzo.

Raids

Candado cited a 2002 Supreme Court ruling declaring Lim’s raids on girlie joints as illegal.

“Lim’s zeal in his campaign against prostitution is commendable. However, there is no excusing Lim for arbitrarily closing down, without due process of law, the business operations of Bistro Pigalle Inc. (the club’s owner),” part of the SC ruling which Candado cited in his complaint.

Candado claimed that the city officials’ move constitutes a violation of his right to operate as mandated and confirmed by a business permit and license to operate.

“Such closure was effected against L.A. Cafe without the benefit of any notice or hearing to explain its side of the incident,” he said in his complaint. “This despite the fact that plaintiffs are qualified to open the establishment as they have complied with all the requisites required of them.”

“Verily, defendants’ acts encroached upon the constitutional rights of the plaintiffs to due process, life, liberty, property and the right to engage in a lawful calling. Such closure order transgressed permissible constitutional boundaries and has become legally infirm,” Candado added.

The businessman asked the court to issue a writ of mandamus to prevent city officials from further interfering with the exercise and enjoyment of his rights.

He also asked the court to order the city officials to pay him at least P400,000, representing the damages he suffered “due to the wanton and malevolent” closure of the establishment.

According to him, L.A Cafe, which employs over a hundred people, has gross sales of at least P40 million a year.

Lim’s order to close down the establishment was based on the recommendation of Manila department of social welfare chief Jay dela Fuente who claimed that several women, including minors, were hired as sex workers in the establishment.

One week prior to the bar’s closure, authorities rounded up over 200 persons, mostly women and including minors, after the International Justice Mission (IJM) wrote Lim complaining about the bar which it claimed was engaged in prostitution.

But Candado stressed that while his rights cannot be denied, the rights of his more than a hundred employees were also put at risk.

“At present, these employees are without any income and suffering from arbitrary acts of the very person who has sworn to ensure that their constitutional rights are protected,” he said.

Comment

The Inquirer tried to reach Lim and Garayblas for comment, but was told that they were attending meetings.

Speaking on their behalf, Lim’s chief of staff, Ric de Guzman, said that the closure order was a result of a legal operation by the authorities.

“There was a complaint from the IJM regarding sex trade in the area. Surveillance was conducted prior to the raid, which proved that the information was correct—that there was indeed a violation of Republic Acts 9208 (qualified [CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908)) and 7610 (antichild abuse law),” De Guzman told Inquirer.

note: i have regularly had therapeutic massages for well over 25 years and truly know what a good massage is.

i was in makati for 4 days last week and stayed at the city garden makati hotel. the first day i arrived i decided to try the hotel massage and am so glad i did. keep in mind i had just traveled 26 hours, was jet laggin' and exhausted.

i asked the front desk manager who the best massage therapist in their spa and he quickly said josie. so, i called the spa and requested her asap. she arrived 20 minutes later, was in her mid 30's, attractive but gave off the "therapeutic only" vibe.

josie's massage was an 11 on a scale of 1 - 10. no joke. she was an artist. she had a sixth sense about what she was doing and it was a magical massage. if she was in my home town area, i would be seeing her once a month. honestly, i can't say enough good about her work.

so, if you're in makati and are looking for a no sextra's massage, be smart and set it up with josie. it will be 600 peso's very, very well spent.

You take taxi to them and then catch the bus. They are in ermita by the us embassy

Or they will pick you up and meet you at the airport but the cost for that is 500 or 700? Unless you book a room with them?

And the price to Angeles is 500 or 600 from their hotels in Manila.

Well, none of the girls you see in Philippines are forced into the trade, they test the waters with locals before upgrading to foreign trade.

And I have met enough girls who were asking for just 500 peso - once i got used to them, because they admit that's the price locals pay for sex.

And, if you been with some natives in QC and Tondo, there are enough cheap casas catering to the native tribes - maybe 100 times that you count in AC and other foreigner bars.

There's a place just off of Pillar on UN up towards the McD. Right on the corner. It's called 'Le Bistro' something or other.

Very old-school place, like out of "The Sandpebbles".

Not a tourist spot.

Never mentioned this place before, 'cause, didn't want punters to ruin it., barfinewise.which is low for Pinoy businessmen.

So what? I think you missed the point. The fact is the majority of Filipinos continue to vote into office Mayor Lim because they applaud him for closing LA Café and other establishments which they deem to be unsavory venues for prostitution.Umm actually you have may missed the point.

Read Cunnings report about how Lim is the destroyer. Destroys projects and livelihoods. Therefore who are the people who would vote for him to do this.

Wouldn't be all the Manila people who built and worked in Baywalk thats for sure.

Certainly wouldn't be the LAC staff or those in whatever squatter areas he has destroyed.

Anyways Lim and Atienza have been going at each other for over 30 years. Now the son on Atienza is also in politics, then he and Lims druggie son can go at each other for the next 30 years. Politics as usual.

Meanwhile you know why EDSA bars are there. Because in the late 80's Lim closed down all the bars that were in Ermita. That was such a fun area, and thats why EDSA bars are where they are now, safe in Pasay.

Trust me. When there is a gang fuck up, as I see in Singapore, instead of not interfering, enough of filipinos will jump into the fight, and end up in the jail, whereas a intelligent person would wait and see what is going on before barging in.

Too many times, the emotionally driven filipinos will screw themselves without wondering about the consequences.

This assumes that actual votes cast determine who gets "elected" to office. This is the Philippines, and life isn't always what it seems. Between vote buying, dead people voting, "lost votes," and multiple votes by the same people, there's little meaning to the term "popular vote."

I am getting very excited about my first trip to Manila. July 11th to 21st. Thanks to all of you for the advice.

I am still actually confused of a few things. I know I will be staying in Makati at least a few days as far as hotels. I am also thinking of hitting AC for I am hearing a wilder time with prettier girls.

I have met many many woman on DIA but I can not handle all the responses so I narrowed it down to about 25 girls. I have my top 3 that I will be seeing for sure. 1 day and night for each of them. So I will have 7 nights of pretty much freedom.

Still not sure of what to do. I would like to get together with a couple of you guys to hang out and learn the ropes a little.

I know I will be doing some sightseeing, either alone or with a hottie.

We will C.

Just thought I would share this with you all.

They seem to believe that LA will re-open eventually, as it has in the past, after similar temporary crackdowns. The only problem is that no one knows how long it will be before that happens.

Anyone in the field care to comment?

Gumby. This time, from my souce, it seems it will take a bit longer, as the Mayor may loose face in front of his 'dear' electorate. And having made noise that he will not even bail his son out. Let's watch and C.

But, the vibes are there that it will open soon.

Meanwhile you know why EDSA bars are there. Because in the late 80's Lim closed down all the bars that were in Ermita. That was such a fun area, and thats why EDSA bars are where they are now, safe in Pasay.Isn't pasay in Manila or is it out of Lim's perview?

Never figured out the boundaries, except Makati not being part of Manila Mayoral control ..

Here are the cities in Metro Manila.

http://www.travelph.com/resorts/manila/images/manila_map.gif

Each has its own jurisdiction, with a Mayor and City Hall and its own ordinances etc.

Note that Ermita and Malate etc are all part of the City of Manila which is in turn a part of Metro Manila (also known as National Capital Region or NCR)

Never figured out the boundaries, except Makati not being part of Manila Mayoral control. You will see differences in each city in terms of whats allowed.

QC is allowed lots. Thats why so many Health spas, KTV's etc there, whereas in Manila. Well we know the ongoing LAC saga.

Pasay allows the likes of EDSA Entertainment and also allows motels. Makati doesn't allow motels, which is why no Sogo or their ilk are there.

If you drive down Edsa, shortly before Wood street and the Victory Liner bus terminal theres a small white marker.

It signifies the demarcation between Makati and Pasay.,. And immediately after the marker, voila, theres the first motels on Wood Street.

There is no beach in Angeles. If you like the beach Puerto Galera is very nice, but only about 2 or 3 clubs.

You can try EDSA complex in Manila. Its an indoor mall with just clubs.

Otherwise, head for Angeles. No beach, but a lot of girls.

Hi everybody,

I have some monger experience been from Latin America and been in Asia for a couple of years, but recently I was quite dissapointed with the LA Cafe closing, I book my trip to PHP just last week and now I really dont know where to start, can please someone give some nice alternate places? also what place will be better for some beach days after Manila? Angeles or Puerto Galera?

Thanks everybody, please help and I promise to post some pics! :)

La Cafe has closed for almost three weeks now and I really need to find an alternative LAC until it is re-opened hopefully soon. Where do you recommend?

I went to Amazonia near LAC and there were good number of ladies but the problem there is that I can not see the ladies very well as the bar is too dark.

I also went to G-Point but there were only a small number of ladies during the peak hour. Also there are many beggars (with a small kid) around the place and I just feel sad to see them before reaching there.

Where do LAC girls go now?

Thanks

That's funny WR.

Havana in Malate near Remedios Circle used to be THE place back around 2000. That was before Greenbelt was built. Havana had the steel bands and a fantastic atmosphere and the place used to rock. Many nice girls there too in those days. We used to start off there and then head off to LAC or do it the other way around. That was when LAC was a better place, run more as a cafe bar than a sleazy semi-brothel, and they used to have a more rigid entrance policy. The good old days LOL.

I went to Amazonia near LAC and there were good number of ladies but the problem there is that I can not see the ladies very well as the bar is too dark. That was always my problem too, that it was dark, plus the quality of girls was even lower than LAC. The nice thing though is that they have rooms upstairs, so it's handy if you are horny and want a quick one. They also have the waitresses taking turn to dance in school girl outfit but I found that rather of bad taste. Why would the waitresses, usually not available, be dancing on stage? Plus I always found school girls outfit out of place and bad taste for girls that are not school girls. I think Amazonia has the potential to replace LAC but they should bring some changes to make it attractive, starting by making the place less dark.

Havana in Makati I had other problems with. There's so many lady boys in Greenbelt it's sometimes hard to find a real girl (am exaggerating a bit here). Plus they once stopped me from entering Havana because I did not have closed shoes but open slippers, which I found snob (and anyway Greenbelt (a wonderful place otherwise) is snob and for the rich), so I boycotted them since then. But worst of all: Havana is really very small. It gets quickly crowded and there's barelly anybody inside. Also, it's all glass, so from the outside you can see everybody, not very discrete. Last point, in LAC at least you could be assured that every girls in there was in for the taking. Not so in Havana, where you do have regular girls too who are not especially interested to go with foreigners. It may be an advantage, or it may not be. I did prefer the LAC system for that as I do not wish to lose time chatting some girls who would say no at the end.

To Have a replacement for LAC would be great, but it would be even better to have a replacement for the old LAC, not the latest version that wasn't so good anymore. One can always dream...

I love Amazonia. Its cleaner than LAC by a country mile. LAC has the volume but definitely not the quality but hell I have only been there 20 times. Two of the best looking girls I saw in Manila were in Amazonia one night but then gone. I agree Amazonia could improve and the volume of girls is smaller but if LAC does not reopen soon it could definitely be the new place to go.

I wouldn't want to be a teacher at the school that has those outfits as uniforms. Lots of temptations and distractions.

I think they are "schoolgirl-style" uniforms but not actually school uniforms.
I would suggest that very few schools would allow girls to wear dresses that short

RK,
I agree with you, the temptation would be overwhelming! I must admit that even though I never went to a school with uniforms, I have a real weakness for that particular form of attire......of course I admit I prefer the wearers be well past "school girl" age...but that is just me!

Why is LA Cafe is packed all the time while hardly anybody is in Amazonia/
1. Well known for a long time. Hardly anyody knows Amazonia.
2. Upstairs live band, dancing etc takes away the monotony of just sitting, ogling girls, drinking.
Many a times I had a good time dancing with the girl I picked . It really broke the ice and had real good sex and companionship afterwards.
3. La cafe is more bright lightwise and feels like a real bar. Even when I had my steady GF stayed with me I would sneak out to have a couple of beers there. It feels like a neighbourhood bar.
4. If La cafe is permanently closed it is boring to stay in Malate. I am sure the many hotels in the vicinity will not have good business.

You dirty, disgusting old pervert. Join the club:D.

Anyone who says that they do not appreciate the sight of a lovely, shapely young lady in a school uniform (preferably her own) is either a liar or dead from the waist down. Of course she has to be safely on the right side of legal.

Schoolies are the best, closely followed by nursies who clean up the mess, preferably with their busy, little tongues! Down, boy!!! However after a most excellent adventure recently with a lovely, busty young stewardess from the Airport Lounge in Pattaya, that particular uniform went bounding up my fav list. Do ebay do replica Air Asia stewardess uniforms?

Here is my favourite naughty young schooly nymphette, acting all coy just before we began human biology extra tuition. She kept the uniform on for her oral examination (which she passed with flying colours), followed by a lengthy session of horizontal gymnastics at which she proved to be eminently supple and very bendable and received 9/10.

Before the internet attack dogs start woofing, she is 20 but the uniform is really hers as she had returned to high school after a 5 year break.

LA Cafe was, in my mind, a great place if you were patient, and skillful at avoiding the dregs. I did not always score there, but when I did I was rarely disappointed.

Been in the Amazon a number of times, it is filled with low grade talent. Once, when a little drunk, I pulled a gal out of there. Was same old story, when she got her clothes off she had, among other imperfections, a stab scar on her stomach that was hideous. Service was absolutley terrible.

If LA Cafe does not re-open I just may pass on stopping in Manila.

If i remember, it is Greenbelt 2, so, once you are in Greenbelt, walk around looking for the starbucks, just next to it is Havana - though it starts getting active in the evenings..

Another clue for the location - it is at level 2, directly below the Banana Leaf Restaurant at Level 3.

If LA Cafe does not re-open I just may pass on stopping in Manila.Tell the taxi driver to take you to Greenbelt Mall in Makati. There are 4 wings, labeled G (Greenbelt) 1, G2, G3, and G4. I think its in G3. Its right next to Starbucks. Ask for starbucks when you get into the Greenbelt mall. I'm assuming you meant Makati, and not Malate.

Taxi drivers may not know about Havana Cafe in Makati because it has no "shopfront" and is inside a large mall. If they never go in the mall then they wouldn't know.
Just ask them to take you to Greenbelt 4 (or to drop you opposite the New World Hotel) and you can ask a security guard if you don't stumble across it.

Hi fellow mongerers,

I'm planning a first time trip to phillipines for 8 days. I would like some suggestions of where to find the hotest chicks and what to pay? I'm going to AC, Borocay and manilla. And also any advice of what the girl scene is like in Borocay?

Any suggestions for a first timer and good advice would be appreciated.

Thank you

I am getting a number of "Greenbelts," now I do not feel bad about not being able to find it.

Also, I am 60 years old, however, I work out and take very good care of myself (regular hair cuts, teeth cleaned 2x year, control my gas), is it mosty a younger mans game there? I know that "a mans reach should exceed his grasp" but, at the same time, I do not want to waste my time.

Will probibly need to find some company for the afternoon or early evening , so that is a consideration. You help and knowledge is appreciated.

Personally I think 8 days is way to short but you will enjoy yourself just the same.
Manila...well you can check out G Point and Amazonia but just about any mall you wonder thru will have ample opportunities to meet some female friends, just keep your wits about you and make sure they are 18plus.
Angeles take your time and dont grab the first girl you see, as there is always a hotter chick around the corner.
If you plan on taking one to Boracay I would test drive her and see how she is for company, watch out for the money sucking vultures, be firm and dont throw to much around. Keep to the going rates 1200-2000 for company to Boracay is more than enough. Hell half them would go just for the free vacation. Negotiate..food, drinks, hotel ,souvineers is fine in my book
Some guys say bring your own and I did. But it would have been no problem to meet some girls there if you are hald decent looking and friendly.
Enjoy yourself and report your findings.

Doesnt matter your age, and truth be told doesnt entirely matter if you have your own teeth, are hairless as a baby, as long as you have a glint in your eye and more than a glint in your boxers you will be fine. Theres a girl or two for everyone in the Phils. I'm sure you will easily and happily find yours.

It's Greenbelt 3. The taxi may drop you at two different spots though at Greenbelt 3. One of the main spots is at a main taxi dropoff and pickup. From there you may be a little confused on where to go and may have to ask someone where Starbucks and Havana are. Most will know. You'll see a security guard standing around with a white shirt checking bags as people walk to that section and you want to go that way and follow along on the outside and you'll run into Starbucks which is right next to Havana in between a stairway that goes up.

The other spot the taxi may drop you off is right at a doorway into the mall. You walk straight in and keep going straight where you'll see some doors to go back outside into the middle of mall. You go through those doors and make a right and you'll be at Havana within like 5-10 seconds.

In regards to age. There are a lot of older women there looking for older men. It takes a little bit of game or they'll show interest but they don't necessarily go walking around in between tables doing it. A lot will sit at their tables making eye contact and stuff. You just have to not be shy and see the signs. It's not just a young man's game there.

In regards to Havana overall as a pickup place, I don't think it's the greatest. I actually think for older guys who aren't so particular they get more choices. People saying that it's way better than LA Cafe, I don't know. I disagree. I think LA was way better. There are some hot women on occasion at Havana. It's a slightly tougher scene as outside it's kind of dark and inside the dance and bar area, it can be slightly dark and it can be very crowded and loud. Where in LA the lighting was decent and you can actually talk with exception of being in the band area.

If you want to read more on Havana, probably should be done in the Makati thread.

There is NO COMPARISON between LAC and Havana other than the fact that there are men and women having drinks and chatting.
Havana is a well-run entertainment venue where you can pick up available women who might be interested in you if you present yourself well enough.
It is a fashionable venue with classy women out for a night and not for a pick up as well as party girls looking for fun. It's up to you to spot the difference or be embarrassed.

By contrast, EVERY women in LAC is (was) a hooker looking to get money from a man and it is expected to be from sex. It is (was) a sleazy place with mainly bottom-feeders mixed in with the occasional fresh new innocent girls desperate for quick cash. If it re-opens then I hope it reverts to how it was in 1999 / 2001 - a cafe-bar with plenty of seats, a nice ambience, and a nice mix of girls who were more discreet and not the in-your-face place that it became after around 2005.

I agree that it is no comparison between the two in a general sense. For mongering, I definitely prefer LA as the better place. For ambiance, Havana for sure. Yes, there are women just going to party or have fun and can be had, but I think for the most part you have to have some game or something besides a passport out of the country. In regards to them, I think they'll definitely be harder to get than the working women there. But in regards to P4P, I'd rather go to LA. And don't get me wrong, I hang out in Havana quite a bit, but I rarely end up with a working woman there, not because it's not available to me though. One is that most there I won't go with. Two, I think that because of the somewhat lack of competition that the way prettier ones can hold out. But either way for whatever reason, I have been quite lucky there in other ventures. I just have a feeling that for the straight monger, that they may not be so lucky there or happy hunting there unless they have a little something extra. You can read between the lines on your own.

"If a glass of wine is considered healthy, wouldn't two glasses be twice as good?" =)I went to Air Force One on an afternoon in 2009 and from memory there is an upstairs Economy Lounge and a downstairs First Class Lounge

We had one drink at the bar and then went to the glass wall viewing area where the rows of ladies with numbers were presented.

It was a two for one afternoon special and I was escorted to a private room set up like a 4 or 5 star motel room with shower, spa, bed tv etc.

Certainly this is one of the more upmarket of this type of establishment.

There are many good looking women and the place is hygienic with hot water shower. For economy class, you pay 1,200 peso to the room and another 1,200 to the lady. For business class, it is about 2,000 peso for the room and the same goes to the girl -- the price varies depends on on/off peak hour.

The only negative side of the place is that the most ladies maintain a businesslike attitude although they are generally friendly. It is different from a place, such as LAC, where you can meet unexpectedly good looking but non-professional lady.

You should look up the yellow pages or look for clues as to how to order room service.

The girls I know aren't hardcore hookers per se and would be mighty offended if a stranger asks them to come over for a screw.

RUN = United Nations Avenue?

Is Le Bistro off United Nations Avenue or off M H Del Pilar?

As you wanted to keep it a secret I pm'd you, but you dont have pm facility it seems.

There are a few hookers at Havan. But most are not "full" time hookers. Occasional "date" seekers who come down there to earn some quick bucks. A lot college students, especially from the Womens University and nursing schools. Mostly they come when the fees are due or something like that. I met some nice girls and made great friends with them.

Caution: There are hookers there too with no scruples. Be careful. Some of them are druggies.

Having said this, I agree with Red Kilt. Havana is a regular business. A nice Cafe with great food and atmosphere. If you go early, do your best not to bother the ladies as they are more than likely regular folks. The chicks come out to play after 9pm. The place gets filled with overflow into starbucks.

Key is, have patience. Sit, observe, and have a few drinks. Pick, invite the girl over for a drink, you like, you go back to your room. Or just tell them not interested. Be very open, negotiate. 5000 can go down 2000 in matter of seconds.

I just got here in Manila. Stuck in Manila for 4 days. Be here until the 17th. Anyone want to have a beer or two, PM me. I have never met anyone here but have chatted. It will be nce to put some faces to some people.

People keep asking this:

Havana Cafe is in Greenbelt 3. Right next to Starbucks. If you are taking a Taxi tell the driver Greenbelt 3 or New World Hotel. Havana is right across the street from the New World Hotel. New World is a very nice hotel, at about 90 bucks per night. About 4.5 stars.

New World Hotel Address:

Girls at Miss Universal are mostly beautiful. The girls go to the stage in groups and then will strip all the way one by one. There must be almost 100 girls there. Some of the girls are in the show room with numbers on them while waiting to go on stage. You can ask the girls to sit with you and they charge by the hour until you pay the BF. The BF for model is P6000 and the girl go home by 3am. The girl tell you only 1 shot allowed. If you want another round need to pay her another P2000. Definitely very expensive place to get a girl even though the girls are of high quality. On top of that you have to pay entrance fee, tips to mamasan, servers, your own and girl drinks and tips to the girl.

I suppose you can also play it cool until the girls you sit with are desperate and start to give concession. I did that recently. The girl guessed I was not BF her and by then it was almost 12am. Then the cutie promised to be nice, go back only 7am, etc.

Me: So do you work?
Girl: Yes
Me: Oh? What do you do?
Girl: I go with men

Their opening price is $100 (5,000 pesos) - but this can easily be reduced to 2000 pesos.

I recently stayed at the Palm Plaza Hotel in Malate on my first visit to Phil and so was a little naieve as what to expect.

The Hotel was less expensive than others but it SUCKS!!

There were always 3 or 4 guys waiting inside the lobby who were i guess "Contract Drivers" for the Hotel. They are Sharks! They try to befriend you comming and going and try to sucker you into letting them guide you arround.

I made the mistake one night to use one guy to drive me and my date to a restaurant and back that was maybe 15 min away. Costed me 1000P. I learned to bypass those idiots and just step out to the street and flag a passing taxi and require them to have a meter and negotiate the price to my destination upfront.

I fell for a similar "scam" as Primusduve and allowed a taxi guy to take us to a Club that he suggested. It was East Asia Club. When we arrived he got out of the taxi as well and walked us in. Bad Sign I know now. He handed the Mgr. his id or whatever to get a commission on us. The driver then sat with my date and I at the club. I asked my date to tell him in Tagalog that we did not need him anymore. He did not leave.

The Mgr brought us a entrance charge reciept that showed a charge for all 3 of us. WTF? I crossed the taxi guys charge off and asked the Mgr. to ask him to leave. He stayed. I was drunk and having fun so I lossed dropped my guard a little.

I told the guy that he could stay and have a few beers that I would pay for and then he would take us home later for no charge. He would get some beers and be able to watch the naked girls in trade for the taxi ride. He said ok. Wich later I found our agreement meant nothing.

After two hours of drunken fun we paid the bill and left with the driver to go back to Hotel wich would be a 200P to 300P ride. He then started in with his shit in Tagalog with my date asking for 1000P.

I was drunk and started to get angry since I thought we had a deal. He drank 4 or 5 beers and smoked our cigarettes and had fun looking at the girls.

He continued to say he wanted 1000P. I became more louder in the car and told my date that I would handle it. When we got to the Hotel I asked my date to walk inside while I take care of it. The guy was kinda scarred and was rubbing his cross that was hanging on the mirror and saying a prayer. I was making him nervous as pay back for trying to scam us.

My date went into the Hotel and I stepped out of the Taxi and waited for the driver to come out to get his money. I said how much? He nervously said 1000P. I stepped on his foot and held out 200P and said take it or im going to kick your ass. He took it.

The next day I felt like a dumb drunk idiot. Oh well I learned not to trust anyone and not to get drunk and try to fight a taxi guy in the middle of the street.

It was an interesting night and had fun regardless of the incident.

Dont trust anyone espeacially the Taxi drivers.

Hey guys, bewarw when you are staying here tonight I took a taxi to a club in Tomas Morato and when I arrive there after walking 5 minutes I was aproached by a guy that claim to know me from my hotel and claim he work there and also knew my name and room number! Been all staff a little look alike I said sure and he went with me to this club after that he said he knew this great place in Roxas blvd BAD mistake! The palce sucks! Two beers after I ask for the check 15, 000 PESOS! I said no way! And said I will call the police after paying 2000 pesos still a rip off I walk away, this guy follow me and said to give him 8000 pesos I said NO! He start to get violent so I have to push him away and give him a nice hit in the face and took a taxi to retrieve! I went to the hotel and spoke with the manager and she said this was pretty common of course the police did shit so I change hotels and pretty much my travel plans! This really sucks be careful and trust no one! No one!

Sorry you experienced that...one of the oldest tricks in the book. You got very lucky if you did get physical with the guy...thats a no no. Many times it will atract locals at which case youre fucked. Glad it worked out for you (sort of). Best way to avoid these "Im the guy from your hotel" scams is to simply ignore them. If they get in front of you, say excuse me, dont look at them, and start walking somewhere. Anywhere. They'll fall off your tail.

Thanks. What is the closest (walking distance) and reasonably-priced (~$50 USD) hotel near Havana, please?

I used to stay at Executive Plaza in Malate for LA Cafe but now that LAC is closed I have to conduct my interviews somewhere else hehehehe.

Much obliged and happy horndogging!

Could use the same info as D cups . Will be in Manila for one night in Sept. Was going to Executive Plaza but with LA closing need some options.
Thanks

Remember theres also G Point and Amazonia in Malate ;)

UN = United Nations Avenue?

Is Le Bistro off United Nations Avenue or off M H Del Pilar?

As you wanted to keep it a secret I pm'd you, but you dont have pm facility it seems.

Thanks.Yeah, on UN a block (or two?) off of Del Pillar going away from Roxas.

Next block from Pillar is Manibay?

Just walk on United Nations. It's right on the corner.

ThanksThat's a common trick.

I once stayed in Executive plaza, and a guy who had been observing me and my friends had already figured out my name ..

And a day later, he shows up in front of me when I am heading out, and says "Hello Mr Kevin, I met you in Singapore .. " blah blah ..

I virtually vomited on him and ran inside and confronted the manager .. and the Manager calmed me down and said he had seen me wearing Singapore T shirts and the guy figured out my name when I was having smoke outside with some of my friends .. No way was the hotel involved.

Anyway, ever since, I don't entertain new friends, and if somebody persistatly follow me, I switch to plan B - head back to the hotel, and get the hotel taxi, pay a bit more, to get out of the vicinity.

I never has such problem staying in Rivera Mansion - next to Executive Plaza, as they don't allow strangers to hang around the entrance.

BTW, if you are in AC, some hotels like Savannah and Phoenix do pass a little note about being 'street wise .. ' this is the oldest trick in the book - almost everywhere in SEA - with Philippines being notorious due to the fact that they speak english ..

I got a similar story in Malaysia, but the guy was struggling to strike a conversation and I wisely didn't try to converse ..

If you want a simple, hassle free massage and sex go to MP in Cubao.

Cubao sauna- in street behind the sogo at corner of edsa and aurora, just get mrt.
400P at the counter for 1 hour massage, choose a number on the wall for the MPA (if you know a no. recommended by friend etc) or ask receptionist to choose.

Upstairs, take a shower and then go to that room no.

You then negotiate extra service with the MPA in the room, - usually 500-700p, don’t choose no. 96

Similar place is Happy Sauna on E Rodriguez. 1 block up edsa cnr edsa and aurora.
500p at counter, min 500p for extra while in the room.

The others that can often happen is " hey I know you, I was the guy who drove you to your hotel from the airport recently"

The other one is " hey man, I like your shirt/shoes whatever. " anything to enable the guy to start a conversation with you and sell whatever BS hes selling that day.

Theres at least 4-6 guys who try "work" this scam in Glorietta.

Rule 1. Anything that sounds too good to be true is.

Rule 2. Anyone who talks to you with no reason is probably running a scam. Either do not reply, or call security if in a mall, or take your phone out your pocket and try and take a photo. You should see how quickly they scamper off.

I had one of these encounters last week inside Robinson's Mall in Malate.
I knew he was a bullshitter because I have my own condo and haven't stayed in a Manila hotel for 10 years, so I had some fun with him, asking him which hotel and what was my name etc.
He was a clever bastard and had the clever answers so I could imagine him sucking in anybody who stopped to listen to him.
Best advice has already been given here - just keep walking; no eye contact and tell him to [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) off.

I had that exact same thing happen to me in Robinsons Mall in Malate two weeks ago. I was trying to find the cellular store that I was in the day before. Its a big place and easy to get turnned arround.

All of a sudden I heard some guy from accross the way say Hi and he approached me. I expected a con or him to ask for a hand out. He said yea I'm the door man at your hotel. I said what hotel? He replied with Palm Plaza which is where I was staying. So I believed him. He did not ask me for anything. I said I was looking for the cell store and did he know where it was?

He answered yes its over there. He started walking with me to the store. I said just point me in the right direction and he replied its ok its over here. I'm a sucker for a nice helpful person. LOL.

He went into the store with me and walked me up to the counter and tried to help me a little with the transaction. I shushed him up so I could negotiate a little. I then started to be on to him but he did not ask me for anything yet.

After I bought my few things he walked out with me and started to get too friendly and I told him so sorta.

Then came the scam. LOL. He told me his family was down stairs and he asked me to buy a bottle of milk for his kids. I was not used to the currency yet so I pulled out a 20P and said I did not want to go to the market with him. He said no sir. I figured out a bottle of milk is more expensive. At that point I wanted to get rid of him and gave him 40P.

After I seperated with him I told myself quit thinking there are nice regular people here that you can trust. Another 40P leson learned. LOL.

I kept looking for that guy at the door of the Palm Plaza so I could give him a glare but never saw him working there.

After two days in Manila I trusted nobody. I went to Angeles city after that and did not have one problem for the next two weeks. Partyly because I was aware of the simple scams and Angeles seems to not have the educated scammers like in Manila.

Just a little info for others to learn from my mistakes.

I am embarrased to admit that I was taken by a similar scam my first trip to P.I. about 3 years ago. Having worked and travelled through Thailand I thought I was pretty wise but No... He met me in SM in Makati and introduced himself by saying he worked security at my hotel - obviously I didn't remember him - but he helped me when I'd arrived the previous night. He got lucky because I had arrived the previous evening and was still jet lagged (& stupid). It wasn't until we sat down to coffee 2 hours later and I suddenly asked what hotel did he work at and he baulked - that I knew I'd been had. Damage was about $150 but I lost a lot of confidence and spoiled the next few days. That was fixed by meeting a lovely pinay who is still my main squeeze in Phil but this scam is common - particularly from middle age men.

Also happened to me very recently but it was generated inside of the hotel. I immediately got the duty manager and head of security. A couple of hours later I got a phone call in my room from the same guy. Fucker even knew my room number. It had to be somebody from inside of the hotel as only one other person in the world knew I was in Manila, at that hotel and the room number.

Did you move hotels? That sort of internal shit is very scary. It happened to a friend of mine in Shangri-la Makati in 2008 and the caller made all sorts of threats to him because he reported the initial scam to security. He was very disturbed and moved hotels immediately because the guy told him he could easily get access to his room.
Even in 5 star hotels??

It is terribly sad to say that virtually no 'favor' is for free! Almost always these conversations end with the words "can you give me some money for ...". Sure there might be some exceptions, but you have a 90% chance for being ripped off. So, better do not rely on the help from a stranger!

Cheers!

This happened at Diamond Hotel, a five star in Manila. I left the next day for other accomadations. As a result of what occurred, and as much as I like Diamond, I really don't know if I would stay there again.

Collegues,

In June 2010, when I was visiting Manila and after leaving Robinsons Mall at the Padre Faure entrance, a guy approached me. He introduced himself as Danny and said that he was working in the Cherry Blossoms Hotel, the hotel I was staying that time.

My answer to him was straight and direct. I've answered him: "Yes, you've scammed me last year also. Fuck your poor and too expensive students yourself. If you don't dissapear right away, I will kick your but out." As fast as he approached, that fast he left.

When I reached my hotel, I've asked the security guards if they know someone working in Cherry Blossoms Hotel with the name Danny. Their answer was negative.

A few days later I saw Danny sitting inside Robinsons Mall in front of a restaurant, I think Racks. When I was approaching him, I was pretending not seeing him, but when I passed by, I turned my head towards him and gave him the most furious devillish look I've got. He didn't know where to look afterwards...

See also my report from last year, when he indeed cheated me.

Waaah ... that 'Remember me, I work at your hotel' introductory line from your friendly neighborhood scammer must be as old as Lim but still obviously works a treat as they happily carry on using it.

Way back in the 80's, I was scammed within 1 hour of first arriving in Manila (the 'too good to be true' exchange rate trick) on my cherry trip and have since had a healthy skepticism of strangers who approach uninvited.

Mind you, it is not always the locals that you have to be wary of. There used to be a 'down on his luck' foreigner (no idea of his nationality but not Brit or American) who used to hang out in Robinsons and whose trick was to approach likely looking tourist victims with his well honed 'sob story' about having all his money stolen and needing a thousand or so to see him by until his parachute money comes in. I wonder how many fell for it? He seems to have gone so maybe he has been deported or retired to a Bel Air mansion.

No Mattrick, this is certainly not the scammer I've wrote about. Pimp Danny, introducing himself working in Cherry Blossoms Hotel, is slim and very tall. I'm 1m80 or 5'11" high, but Danny is taller than me.

But you guys should try Ginza sauna some time. It's on Quezon Avenue, in front of Great Eastern hotel. Only hand job but the best part is that you get a real massage (not like Happy sauna) and then you get your balls massaged which is just divine, then your willie massaged until happy end (for an extra 400 pesos). It's a real treat. There's even a forum (I think is called Manila Tonight) where people exchange experiences and advices based on the girl's numbers, even charting them.

ISpa in Metrowalk has a happy ending built in to the ISpa special massage.
Prices are 1000 for an hour but discounted at present to 800 php (or maybe it was just for me because I am hansum lol).
I always have the ISpa special which consists of 40 mins of back massage and leg massage including the area right up in the groin so she can give the balls a nudge. Then it is "roll-over" on your back for a "sensual massage" which has been a series of very very sensuous happy endings as she milked me dry each time.
I have had 3 different girls each visit and each one was better than the earlier one. Only drawback with the place is the walls are thin and open at the top but the place is VERY clean and very well run. I gave each girl a tip at the end which is usual operating procedure in these places but needs to be just a notional amount.

Looks a lot like the guy who scammed me at Glorietta Mall a few weeks back, though I think his hair was shorter and he was wearing an orange shirt that looked similar to what the staff at my hotel was wearing.

I say we all pitch in and get the guy some more five fingered dental work.
