I made a similar mistake once in Pattaya. I started chatting to a young woman outside a shop. She had smiled to me as I was passing and I stopped to chat to her. Manila to Subic is not a short trip. I think the Best option for the price is taking the bus. Car service and taxi for such a distance may not be what you are willing to pay, but I could be wrong.

All depends if you are on a budget or want door to door service.
Victory Liner Bus from Pasay is around 300 php.
Private bus service 1200 php but you must overnight in AC.
Taxi or private car upwards of 5000 php.
All three options are via Angeles.

I'm in AC now, but I did fly into MNL and was thinking of spending a few days. AC is my usual routine, but I try to vary the trip slightly with an "oh, what the hell, " attitude. This month, I was thinking I'd give Makati City a try, and furthermore, just see what the meter cab suggested for a cheaper place to stay in Makati. I should have known better though. I get to the metered cab and say "take me to Makati City RLD, and suggest to a place. " We talk girls for a bit, and he winds up taking me to the travel agency (I've been here). They in turn suggest the "budget place, " of Crosswinds (been here to). They wouldn't dare reveal to me a hostel down the street or another cheaper place a Philipino friend later recommends.

When I check in, the dude helping me with bags asks if I want to head to a girly bar, and I say "oh, what the hell. " He takes me to Area 51. He liked it because it had live shows, but nothing too different than what I've seen in AC. I get in there, the "manager" talks me up and gives me menu with some pretty expected beer prices. I order for myself and the Xwinds buddy. The manager brings three stunning girls, and we chat for a bit.

The server then brings the bills for my drinks (menu prices, 150 phps), but also a cover (3000 php) and three ladie drinks (1000 each). It blew my top off! I said "why the hell didn't you mention a cover before I got in here?! " When the fuck didn't you tell me how much LD were when I asked you "How much are LD?! " I basically said there's no way on earth I'm paying that for the cover and the LDs. The mf then said he'd call the police and I'd spend.

Anyway, I negatiated some serious discounts from there. I thought it was complete BS. But right now my girl is knocking on the door, so I will talk to all of you later.

Call your hotel in Subic. Their private car can pick you up at the Manila airport. Hotel cars from AC are running (one-way) about 2500-2700. Subic is farther, so expect to pay more like 4000-5000 one way for private. When you get out of the airport and to the street level, across the street is a crowd of people (the waiting area). There will be a hotel-uniformed driver with a placard with your name on it. He'll haul your luggage to the car and drive you right to the hotel in Subic (2-3 hours). I like the private ride. The driver and car are at your disposal. Want to stop for food along the way? Sure. I have him stop either in Manila or the McDo place on the way to AC. I buy him and me a burger, that way I'm not starving when I get to my destination. You can also sleep in the back seat (tell him to turn that crappy music off).

Everybody, thanks for all the information. Just came back from a very short trip to Makati, with a side trip to Palawan (hope you won't mind me including a brief note about that here). I'm not a total newbie to the Philippines, but not near as experienced as some of you, so this might already cover well-tread ground for the veterans. A summary (more or less in chronological order) is as follows. Hope it is of some help.

- Makati: St. Giles Hotel is about 25 minutes from airport, but 1 minute walk to the bars. Not spacious, but new and clean with flat-panel TVs / cable and king-sized beds. Courteous and professional staff. US$57 through their website.

- Not all massage girls give extra service. The one I ordered my first night preempted me before that discussion could take place.

- Several Makati bar girls told me they were on a shift system (early shift ending at 3 am). If I arrive late at night next time I'll make a date, get a few hours of sleep, then have an early morning tryst at my room and avoid the BF.

- SWs in Makati can be picked up at any time, but the ones strolling around at 8 am eyeing me while I ate my breakfast were fairly skanky.

- Palawan: prior to my trip I spent a lot of time on DIA, intending to bring a girl to Palawan (well-known as a BYOG place) with me from Manila, but this was ultimately fruitless. Lots of false starts and then too short notice. I eventually gave up, worried about being stuck for 3 days with someone who was unbearable. Still, tail can be found there if you lower your standards. Ask a tricycle driver. (Ended up with a freebie who I'the met through a different site.) Several flights each day and R / T airfare from Manila approx. P4, 000. Food was excellent, and cheap.

- Back to Makati: On top of the BF, the two girls I dealt with asked for a set fee. From previous experiences elsewhere I would provide the girl a performance-based tip, on my discretion. Best to confirm when deciding on girl. My first from Dimples absolutely demanded P4, 000 (discounted from P5K, she claimed) , the second from Ivory asked for P3, 000.

- Bar girls drink fast. That's obvious, so choose or decline quickly. Also, narrow it down to one girl at a time or you'll be buying drinks for the two mama introduces, and mama as well.

- Dimples and Ivory bars offered to take credit cards for BF, which surprised me a bit.

- Wanted to go to the famous LA Café (now the Manila Bay Café) , but gave up as I was told it was a 30-60 minute cab ride from Makati.

- Walked into the Rogue bar after lunch, just to check the place out, but the girls there turned out to be way too hard sell for my taste. Eventually they wore me down and I got taken into a back room where I was forced to endure a BJ from three girls (actually two as I finished before the third one's turn).

The only place that is there of course is my condo there when I'm in residence. LOL

This sounds exactly like Palacio Don Pedro. Can't tell you an exact address but it is very near to Burgos Street. The bad news is that I believe Don Pedro has closed down.

Many members here have talked about a place in Makati called Roman Suites. I can't comment because I have not been. But I am sure you could do a search and find its exact location. It sounds like Roman Suites to me.

It is in Pasay Road almost directly behind New World Hotel.

If you come out of New World turn left and walk to the road beside NW Hotel. Take another left and Pasay Road is in front of you. You will see Roman Suites in front of you at the T junction.

Go through glass doors and you will see a set of stairs on the left (hotel check-in is on the right side. Ignore that).

At the top of the stairs is a mezzanine floor.

Go up another set of steps on the left side against the wall and you will reach the "fish-bowl" room.

The attendant will turn on the lights and ask the girls to "please show up".

Choose your number, pay for the room (1100 before 6pm; 1400 after 6) and the boy will show you to the room. The girl will arrive 5 minutes later.

Clean rooms. Nice bathrooms. Good full service. Classy professional girls, well-trained.

Obligatory condom. Negotiate price before starting. Minimum is 1500 php. Most girls want 2000 and won't budge. I always say 1500 and a bonus if you make me smile. They always get 2000 from me.

I just got back. I posted a long report in the Cebu section, mentioning Manila.

In brief: EDSA was my favorite spot for great girls, reasonable fees and all-in-one location. It's on a main blvd but it's like a courtyard inside with 6 (7?) go-go clubs. All good. Lots of girls. Reasonable Bar-fines and no cover charges.

Better than P. Burgos in a section called Makati. I stayed in Makati. The Cube Grand. Girlfriendly and oK, get a good rate off Agoda. Some pals were happy at St Giles in Makati.

Surf around the "Manila Hotels" section and take the advice. If I were you, I'd avoid Makati and try to get something closer to EDSA. Keep reading, it's all here. My report talks about Cebu and Cebu girls. Less hard-core than Manila, but you got to pay attention.

No in-room safe, but a good safe deposit box room right next to reception that I could access at any time (as long as no one else was in the room). Best part (aside from the girl that night) was walking out the next morning to a full buffet of viagra vendors. Definitely a buyers market on P. Burgos. I was practically able to name my own price. Who needs Shatner :-)

I doubt I would want to stay there more than 1-2 days though, but it was a good "transition hotel"...fly in to Manilia late one night then depart for another local the next afternoon.

If you want something close to EDSA, try the Heritage...a bit dated and slightly overpriced, but otherwise ok. The extra you spend on the hotel you will more than save on the ladies, as EDSA is much cheaper than P. Burgos, assuming you are looking to barfine vs. find your own.

I just got back from a PI trip. I actually had one night at the Makati Palace. Decent price, right next to the bars. No in-room safe, but a good safe deposit box room right next to reception that I could access at any time (as long as no one else was in the room). Best part (aside from the girl that night) was walking out the next morning to a full buffet of viagra vendors. Definitely a buyers market on P. Burgos. I was practically able to name my own price. Who needs Shatner.

I doubt I would want to stay there more than 1-2 days though, but it was a good "transition hotel". Fly in to Manilia late one night then depart for another local the next afternoon.

If you want something close to EDSA, try the Heritage. A bit dated and slightly overpriced, but otherwise ok. The extra you spend on the hotel you will more than save on the ladies, as EDSA is much cheaper than P. Burgos, assuming you are looking to barfine vs. Find your own. The biggest problem with burgos is the luck of good hotels around the area. I have stayed at, The A Venue, Makati Palace, St Giles and Fraser Place C (condo) and there is just no perfect hotel there. The A Venue has a paint job and smells like hospital, small bedroom but it has another lounge, kitchen area as well, St Giles is new but small, Makati Place has bigger rooms but is run down and they charge for everything. Late at check out 1 hour. 500 peso, want the room cleaned again 500 peso, lose the safety deposit key $100. The 3 are about same in terms of price, Makati Palace would be my favorite, followed by St Giles. Fraser Place is more expensive but much better as we are talking condos here. It is also further away from burgos.

It never fails that I'm so dam picky choosing my company. Met up with a Dia contact at glorieta mall. Took about 20 texts messages of hide and seek to meet up finally. I was there the last Tuesday in October, and the place was jumpin': sub-25 yr. old's everywhere.Doc, your pic is how I always remembered G Point. But back in about June when I was there, it was dead. Burgos gogo bars in Makati typically charge p2500-3000 ($60-ish) for the barfine (the girl will later get half, or a bit more than half). The girls there will often tell you before leaving the bar what kind of tip they expect, p2000-3000 is typical. So she will get p1500 from the barfine + p2500 from you for a total of p4000.

EDSA bars in Malate are similar in price. Many gents pay p3000 barfine + 3000 tip. I find these prices outlandish, but that's the going rate.

Manila Bay Cafe (formerly LA Cafe). Freelance. You can walk up to almost any girl in the joint, have almost no conversation, and tell her you want LT for 1500. She'll ask for 2000, 2500, or even 3000. You will smile and say 1500 if she stays till 10am. I find approximately 80-90% will grab their purse and drag you out the door to a taxi. The ones who won't go usually tell me they can't stay till 10am, they have kids to get home to. They will say 6am, or 7am, no later. Its up to you. These prices don't seem to have gone up for several years.

G-Point cafe. Smaller than MBCafe, but same concept, freelance. Girls will ask p2000, but are often happy with much less than that. 1500 will get you a LT.

Angeles City. Depends the bar. Some of the large bars want 2000, 3000 pesos as barfine. The girls might ask a large tip before agreeing to go with you (like Burgos). Completely up to you. Most of the Field's Ave bars get p1500 for a barfine. Tipping the girl is not usually discussed by the girls in advance, and is up to you. Some gents tip, some don't. The girls rarely ask for one, and are content to work LT for their half (p750) of the barfine. They make their living on large-volume barfining. Perimeter bars I think have raised their fines. 1200-1400 I think now might be typical. These bars open and close earlier than Fields, so go early. Unless you take a girl in the afternoon or very early evening, a barfine is considered LT. Always discuss in the bar how long you expect the girl to stay.

I still think burgos has more quality and better girls. EDSA has a lot of province girls too. You will find gems in EDSA but not if you leave it late in the night. Past midnight Burgos is the way to go especially on the Friday / Saturday.

If price is an issue check out the first few bars on Burgos where bar fine is also 1600.

Not to me, if you notice the trend over the last 5 years, it use to be a big influx of Japs and now the Japs have more or less remain stable but a huge upswing now is with the Koreans and even notice alot more Chinese, so if you combine all 3 then yes, huge numbers of them are coming into PI.Probably because of their country doing well in this economy, they have more money to spend. Edsa complex is located in Pasay on Edsa drive not far from Roxas Blvd and about a 10-15 minute taxi ride (in the later evening as I said). If you try and go there from Makati during the day / early evening expect a much long taxi drive. Anywhere from 30-90 minuntes (got to love Manila traffic!). MBC is located in Ermita, not far from the US embassy, on M. H. DelPillar road. Add about another 10 minutes by taxi if in the later evening and 20-40 minutes at busier times of the day.

If and Makati you should try and hit up P. Burgos as it is much closer but also much more expensive.

While going to MBC absolutely do not talk to any touts on the street, it is 100% rip off (if not more). I looked on the maps which were very helpful. However, I noticed that Pasay seems to be just the next town over from Makati City down the EDSA Freeway. It didn't look that far. Am I mssing something? Also, there's a Padre Burgos St. Near Rizal Park near the US Embassy which would be close to MBC. Then I noticed another much smaller street also named Burgos just off Makati Ave. What's going on? I also noticed a Paseo de Roxas by Makati, then another one by the water near the US Embassy. This is very confusing.

Canyon, I did not attempt to answer Burgos St! I never went there. I only attempted to answer MBC and edsa complex. And yes, Pasay City is right there close to Makati.Manila sucks big time. And is the craziest place for traffic.

One time from ermita to ortigas it took two hours through heavy heavy traffic.

Insane.

But if you are not driving then don't worry about it. Let the taxi drive deal with it but pick the times that are not as much heavy traffic.

Someone else can tell you better the hours but generally I think communte hours are the worse. Before 9am and between 4 pm to 7 pm?

But everyday is very bad as far as I am concerned. The taxi drivers know where to go?

Yes some will try to jack up the price. I tell them to use meter and then give them decent tip but not too much and not too little. What ever that is? Hahaha been there many times and still not sure.

Its good to know where you are going other wise you look like a deer caught in headlights. (first time I went to p burgos) and then the vultures come out and after you for everything. Its crazy.

But p burgos in makati off of makati ave or the edsa complex is good for girls. Too expensive for me but some real nice and naughty girls.

Distances may be close but the traffic to me is a total night mare. I hate the traffic. I do drive but when I go to manila I hire a driver or a taxi,

I bought a gps map that I can use while driving and that has gotten me lost also.

The Edsa Complex is very close to Makti, but Manila traffic is a bit on the insane side usually, especially during the day / early evening. That is why in my post I listed possible taxi time as 10 minutes to 90 minutes!

For the small fee you get a stamp on your wrist, then can check out upstairs a hundred times that night if you want to.

Sometimes there is a guy standing nearby to make sure folks pay. I have noticed this, and from my viewpoint, quite right too.

Problem is for MBC, some guys would say "check the place out", then stay upstairs. Girl can not leave her spot to call guy back.

If you stand next to the girl and do not enter, you can look to your right and left and see what is going on upstairs, no problem with that.

I prefer to pay, they have huge overheads. They provide such a good service for us, I do not mind paying P100 or P150 some special band nights, for multiple check outs and maybe stays upstairs. The girls at MBC do not drink or drink very little. Would take a lot of drinks to pay for even the overheads. No one, quite rightly, eats there. I feel for MBC, and being a retired business person, appreciate the costs involved in running businesses, add to that in Philippines, regular bribes to keep officials at a distance. Their most recent legal fees, regarding closure, must have cost a fortune. Fortunately they had the money to pay the legal bills and we can now enjoy the place all over again. P100 is not much more than the cost of one beer, so I pay.

Given the fact that MBC is generally busy, why were places like Amazonia really not able to step into the void when they were closed. Realistically, FL bars that are decent bets boils down to MBC, Amazonia and maybe G-point. Amazed that others have not been able to get trade. I was in Southern Cross about 3 months ago. Both available ladies were just unacceptable, whereas MBC had at least a dozen that were decent enough.

CS has the facts right. Any insight on the reasons?

The closest known place to EDSA would be the Ms Universe and that is over 15-20min walk, and you can't even walk to G-point, Amazon as its a taxi ride or 12min jeepney ride there. So, unfortuately, EDSA is still a stand alone complex with very little to fear from others at this point. Of course back in the good old days before Mayor Lim crackdown and ruin Ermita / Malate it was a whole different story.

If you have more time then me in Manila or are a Manila resident then I can understand where you are coming from but for me someone that is there few times a year and for a week tops at a time MBC is perfect. On prices I too will disagree with you, I think it is reasonable at last far cheaper then say Burgos, but then you probably hate Burgos too. What can I say I don't mind "overpaying" to save time as for me time is the most precious commodity when in Philippines.

If management asks you to pay to enter upstairs MBC, you have the choice of paying and entering or not paying and not entering. That was the point I was trying to get across in my original post. Nothing about tipping, which is up to every individual. Cheap Charlies I have known, never ever tip, even 1 centavo, and at times, even try to exit without paying anything at all. Have witnessed that happening with a Cheap Charlie at my table. Rest of us had to pay his extensive drinks bill on his behalf. He is now on our Wanted list. Those guys make me look good. Promise, I will not be tempted to talk about this subject again, LOL.

(but alas I went there my best Filipino 'pare'/buddy who grew up there in that area. It's a dingy joint with mediocre chicks. Large 'dance floor' inside, just one chick at a time 'dances', the clientel is slightly the shady type (local mobsters and off hours police enjoying their bribes) smoking in the darkness leering at the nothing to write home about dancers. Very few pick-up girls in the malls in Ortigas (although some guys boast they get them, but I think l they exaggerate a lot).

If you only have 2 days, head south to the end of EDSA to the EDSA International Entertainment Center (the taxis know it as "the EDSA bars opposite Heritage") or to Makati (half way between Ortigas and EDSA IEC) and go to either Greenbelt or Burgos Street.

Plenty of info on the Forum under Makati or Manila to help you with the MO for both EDSA and Burgos.

Too far to go to MBC unless you go later at night otherwise you will use up a lot of time travelling there and back and for a newbie alone the area can be a bit daunting.

My last night in Philippines I enjoyed time with a real stunner from Space Girls. Sad thing is that she decided to leave at 4am, even though I had to wake up at 6am for a morning flight anyway. So, she was unhappy with the tip, but I would have gladly given more if she had let me sleep two more hours. Penny wise. Pound foolish.

You're more likely to get an answer in the Manila Hotels thread, but even there you may not get any replies. I've never used the place, but I'd be concerned that they appear to charge extra for everything. Want the room made up? That'll cost you 500 pesos. Want to use an iron? 100 pesos. So at this rate, they might try to charge you more if the guest isn't listed when you check in. Perhaps you could tell them when you check in that your partner will be joining you later, and you'll sign her in with ID when she arrives. Like most Manila area hotels, it appears that two stay for the same price as one. Although my attempts to find a room price on the website failed.

But the main problem with this hotel is location. This location is good for shopping at Robinson's Place Mall at Pioneer, but not much else. It's not too long a taxi ride over to Burgos, but the longest part of the ride will be fighting in and out of traffic to get on EDSA, across the bridge over the Pasig River and then off EDSA again. If mongering is a primary reason for your stay, there are much better locations in the Ermita area, near the EDSA Complex, in Makati, or near the high end Quezon Avenue clubs. If mongering is secondary to business, this is not close to the typical places where foreigners have business in Metro Manila.

I am in Manila for the first time.

Last night wandered around Ermita. MBC reminded me very much of the Marlin Bar at the Del Ray in San Jose, Costa Rica: small, crowded, full of freelancers. Only there were pool tables instead of a casino. Too much noise and smoke for me.

Also checked out Amazonia, G Spot, Hobbit House. All very quiet around 10pm.

There were also at least a dozen other small bars with women that I had not seen written about in the forum. One was a takeout place with over 20 women (they said 40 at peak times, we were there after 2am).2000php for LT back at your hotel. Beers were 80php.

I also wandered around Robinson Mall during the day which had a huge number of stores. I bought a cell phone for 1000php. Was accosted by the only "worker" outside of Starbucks.

I have to say that the quality of women was lacking. In all the places mentioned above I did not see anyone I was interested in.

I did have a short date with a DIA girl (who was going out of tow the next day so I didn't get very far with her as she had to go home for an early departure). She was very pretty. We went to the Cowboy Grille which I recommend for some interesting live music from local bands.

We started at Cafe Havana. First off, the descriptions of location on this forum were not great. It is on the ground level (not 2nd floor) and while underneath the banana leaf restaurant that is one of probably 10 on the second level so no special landmark. Also, most importantly, it is primarily outside of the building so from the street you have to around to the farside and then out the door. That is also true for the Starbucks which as indicated is next door.

We got there around 7:30 and had dinner there. Friendly and pretty waitresses and good food.

I think we were there until after 10 and were very disappointed with the number of freelancers. It was Saturday night and quite crowded but mainly with groups and couples. Only about 5 women giving men the eye and a few more tables with groups of women who could have been working. None were of interest to us.

After Cafe Havana we went to P. Burgos St.

I thought this was supposed to be the "high class" area but the bars were dumps for the most part. Many small bars with as few as 4 girls and some larger ones. Pussycats had a couple of dance shows inbetween the regular dancing / shuffling.

I think the draw in some of these places is the large number of young girls (18-25). That seemed to be the only difference from the bars near MBC. The quality was not significantly better.

I thought she was really hot and the service was super so, although relatively expensive, it was definitely worth it for me.

We were there at around 10:30pm-midnight and it has been suggested that if we go earlier then more hot girls will be available. We are likely to try that.

Sorry to affect the mood and direction of this thread, but panic station has been hit here. There is a clinic in Robinson's Ermita, ground floor. Open on Sundays. If you enter through "main" entrance, it is in the back of the mall. They do all kinds of lab tests, including HIV. When I was serious with a girl I would take her there for testing. Let me give you some free medical advice. Your friend is wasting his time rushing to a clinic. It takes approximately 90 days for the HIV virus to be detectable with current technology. Any microbial activity ie urinary tract infections takes at least 10 days to manifest. You can take antibiotics prophylatically but I would just wait the 10 days and then get a test. You could otherwise find yourself taking antibiotics before a test which is not a terrible outcome but why add to the possibility of unnecessarily building up resistance to antibiotics in addition to the possible allergic reactions, sun sensitivity, etc

If it is any comfort HIV is relatively hard to get (unless you are sharing needles or are having receptor anal gay sex) and the incidence to my knowledge in the Philippines is relatively low. I am not suggesting that you throw caution to the winds and hop on unprotected but lets put the risks in context.

There is also one just near the Malate Church. Not as good) and have found it really excellent for a fun night at very reasonable prices for food and drinks particularly if you have a group. Cowboy Grill is a great place with good live music, good food and drinks that are not expensive. There is plenty of girls but most of them come in with a group. If you end up joining them they most likely will expect you to pick up the bill, so try and separate her ie, invite her to your table if you can or make sure you go as a group as well. I completed the Manila Grand Slam last night with the best night yet. I went to EDSA about 11 and met up with a great girl in Cotton Club I met last trip.
