When it is 30+ outside, I am wearing shorts everywhere except work, weddings or government offices.In the end, it all comes down to personal taste. I don't own a pair of shorts and probably haven't since I was twenty-something: I just don't like them under any circumstances. Other guys feel quite comfortable wearing shorts almost anywhere. No harm, no foul in either case.

I concur with Wicked Roger here, definitely in the provinces. Now if they were going out to a decent bar / restaurant in the evening then yes, perhaps they do dress up.Just to clear up any confusion. I wear what is deemed appropriate for where I am going. If with mates to a resto that is super casual it is shorts etc. To a resto in a nice place or with people I don't know well for sure long pants / jeans etc.
In the provinces many wear the basic and no one dresses up unless a wedding etc.
Even in Australia I wear shorts to restos as no one truly cares much of the time, it is the enjoyment of the food and the company that is more important.
As GE said it is personal taste and comfort plus where you are going.

ED, I have a slightly different experience pertaining to Singapore. I have always gone to OT (all pubs, any floor including Ipanema) or Clarke Quay or Golden Mile even Geylang in shorts. I have worn trousers or jeans only when I have been to Brix as they follow a strict dress code or to any upscale restaurant for dinner. I have never worn shorts as much even in LOS during night as I have in Singapore and felt comfortable.
On the contrary this is the only city where I see so many men (locals) wearing shorts in the daytime all around in public transport, malls, etc. Initially it felt as if the national dress here was T and shorts.
I even went to Alexis in shorts in Jakarta and dont see why any other spas would object to it. Regarding Nightclubs, i followed the trouser / Jeans and collared shirt rule through, didnt wanna take chances.

I try to avoid the beach-bum look (flipflops, wife-beater or Hawaiian shirt).
In the province after you first wrote about pants, I was out with two girls at two different places in one night. The first place is one of those combo bars, with one half the place videoke rooms, and the other half a regular bar with live band. For the area, its modestly upscale (with security at the door frisking and checking purses). We hit a videoke room first for an hour of singing, a bucket of beers, and appetizers. Then we transferred to the bar area as the live band came on (we got the last open table). Of the roughly 70 customers in the place I counted 7 pairs of shorts (mine and 6 locals). You should go through the airport quickly at that time and the taxi queue won't be long. Get one of the metered taxis. I stayed recently at Citystate in Ermita, near LA Cafe, and the fare was 202 pesos from the airport. Often the taxi driver will pretend he doesn't have change to try and extract a big tip. You'll probably check in to your hotel about 2. 15 am which is not too late to find a girl as LA Cafe is open 24 hours. I know you said you weren't so keen on the 'hunt' but LA Cafe is an experience. I recommend getting there for 8 pm on one of your other nights, have a few drinks downstairs and go upstairs at about 11 pm. The other thing I'd recommend is never ask a freelancer "how much?" Instead do your research and when the time comes, say to her something like "would you like to come back to my hotel with me and stay tonight?" When she nods or says yes, tell her your offer. I'd say she was one of the best looking girls in the bar that night but I would say, wouldn't I? My friends agreed though. 3000/4000 is too high to pay in my experience. Some of the girls in the Korean section upstairs might hold out for a price like this but the majority of the pretty girls will go for 2500 long-time. Most girls, especially those downstairs, will go cheaper than this.
LA Cafe is open 24 hours but sometimes it is sleepy during the afternoon. Gems can be found though. I picked up two pretty girls who told me they were sisters (normally I take stuff like that with a pinch of salt but they had exactly the same smile). I paid 2000 to each of them for a proper threesome (ie not just fucking one after the other, like some threesomes you get). 4000 is steep for short-time but for two girls of their quality (and the memories they gave me!) it was a fair price.
Do not pay upfront. You pay in the morning when the girl is getting ready to leave. One more vote: I just bought a couple of pairs of shorts for the first time since electricity was invented. I was going on a fishing junket where jeans would just be hot and sweaty. But I bought very presentable cargo shorts and have taken to wearing them in Cebu during the day with my first ever pair of sandals. And a stylish T or collared shirt. I just can't do the wife beater / flops look. Can't do it. I don't care what the other guys are wearing, just can't quite do less. I've narrowed it down to two areas I want to stay near, and am hoping for members who have been to these places recently to help me decide:
1. LA Cafe.
Some say that the area around here is "dangerous. " Not really sure what this means, but I wouldn't imagine it's being robbed at gunpoint? Some field reports have mentioned finding nice talent here in the afternoon, before EDSA even opens.
However, I also read that the talent here is a definite hit or miss, but the prices for ST / LT are substantially cheaper than at EDSA. It's a must-visit place at least once, according to people.
It's also close to the USA Embassy if anything were to happen.

I was thinking more in terms of logistics: if I happen to lose my passport and I'm crunched on time, then having the embassy close can be beneficial.

The area around LA cafe is seedy, and that's why I like it. LA Cafe, Amazonia, G point, Robinsons mall, and your hotel are all within walkable range. At certain hours of the night you might want to put a Clint Eastwood glint into your eyes. It can be dangerous if you let it be. Since your chosen name is dannypants 000, I would suggest you hire an armed guard to escort you about town.
EDSA (pronounced as an acronym) is great fun, but I can't recommend a place to stay nearby. Copacabana Hotel has large rooms, pool, but very noisy beds (see pictures). Microtel might be the answer, but a bit expensive. Very near the Mall of Asia. EDSa Entertainment Plaza. Not so cheap these days.
Staying in Malate or Ermita (near LAC) is my choice and you can still taxi to EDSA if the need arises. I'm sure other guys would suggest Makati, but you've already ruled that out. With your limited time in MM, I'd suggest you hit LAC in the afternoon and then if the smoke and fugly women gets to be too much, taxi your way to EDSA. I think they start around 8 pm.

The rooms are a bit run down but comfortable and you can foot it to EDSA by turning right out of the hotel, walking a couple of blocks (past the Copacabana) while ignoring all the bike drivers that follow you, and then crossing the busy highway on the pedestrian overpass (a few beggars are usually here but I have never had trouble with pick pockets). It is only a 15-minute walk (10 minutes if you are horny) and girls don't mind walking back with you. You will have a lot more (and better) choices than LA Café, and the girls are not too pushy for drinks. If I recall, all the bars have a fixed 1950 P barfine, and the girls charge 2500 P ST, 3500 LT. Yes, more expensive than AC. This is Manila, after all. As far as runners, a fair number of girls live in Cavite and are stuck for the night in Manila if they miss the last bus back (I think it departs at 3 am? Still, they may try to catch the first bus in the morning, especially if they have babies to take care of. Buy the Mamasan a drink and ask her to help you choose what you are looking for. Everyone here has always been real friendly to me.
The area around LA cafe {...} can be dangerous if you let it be"Can be" is probably the best description I've heard! Personally I didn't have a problem and felt ok but I could see it being a problem if you start walking around with a Rolex, gold chains, and an iPhone hanging out your back pocket. Leave the valuables in the safe, dress nicely but not lavishly, and you'll probably be ok.

Dine-at-home girls was okay but I wouldn't do it again), though there are numerous hotels of various grades within walking distance of MoA. I walked from the crossing of Roxas / EDSA to MoA once and wouldn't do it again. There are some pedestrian crossings but even those involve numerous lanes of traffic. Looks like you'd be right for around 1 km -feels much longer! Anyway, I never planned to walk from Roxas / EDSA but couldn't flag down a taxi or work out how to get on a jeepney!

First time in Manila. Strange and memorable punting encounter for me. Having read the Philippines forums fairly deeply I thought I had a fair Idea of what to expect, which mostly matched with what I saw.
After being up for 40 hours (insomnia before starting, two flights where I can never sleep anyway, with a five hour stopover) I was wasted, sober (middle eastern airline) and had read a 650 page book.
Got ripped off for 500 pesos on a 15 minute private taxi from the airport to Victoria Court Cuneta hotel. I had booked this hotel online after reading Trip Advisor reviews that made it clear this was mostly for discreet encounters. Rooms can be booked for 3 or 12 hours or overnight. I booked 5 nights in advance. It is in a good location a street back from the Heritage Hotel, about equal distance to Mall of Asia and ESDA. Clean, cheap, rooms are just like a hotel with the only thing missing being any storage space. I guess most guests don't need drawers and wardrobes. Naturally there are no shared facilities such as a gym, restaurant, pool etc. *I would recommend it to anyone who needs total discretion, eg you can get rooms with a garage and never be seen driving in your own car.
After long flights I always get diarrhea so Wednesday and Thursday were just touristic with not that much to see. Stocked up on Robust from MOA SM hypermarket pharmacy and generic *V from the Generic Pharmacy store near EDSA. Robust, seemed to work in a solo trial. Thanks to earlier posters for details.

Since you are staying at the Hyatt City of Dreams I would definitely check out both Pangaea and Chaos Clubs located in City of Dreams. Pangaea is popular with the Hi-so crowd and is open 3 nights a week. You will see a lot of very attractive and well dressed FL's as well as beautiful amateur girls there to dance and have a good time. FL's quote from 5,000 p to 8,000 p for ST. Obviously this NOT a place for the cheap charlies. But you can have a lot of fun here and it is packed with hot chicks.
2. I highly recommend going to the EDSA Entertainment complex. It is a Go Go style set up here with some friendly attractive girls available notably at Firehouse, Cotton Club, and Pitstop.
3. There are a number of large KTV style show place / nightclubs like Airforce One, Universe Girl Club and La La Land in the proximate area to City of Dreams. They have top talent, but expect to pay in excess of 10,000 p to land one.
4. Lastly a visit to this part of Metro Manila would not be complete without having a drink and enjoying the ambiance at LA Cafe. I am not recommending that you pick up a girl here per se, although there are some diamonds to be found. Sadly the overall talent level is low IMHO, but the scene is amazing and well worth your time to check it out. LA Cafe is an icon and living monument to Honky Tonk Bars everywhere.

Burgos is convenient, and if you don't mind the BF, is a quick no-hassle way of scoring. But for me it's the MacDonalds of Manila.

Casinos. I'm most familiar with Resorts World casino. Most times when I've been there I inevitably get the very direct eye contact seen at places like LA Cafe and Havana from a few girls. I wouldn't call it a good place to hunt for girls, but there are a few. If you are a gambler there are freelance assistants who work the casino (they are NOT casino employees); their job is to be your personal assistant such as carry your chips and whatever else.

Found it extremely hard to find action there that it's worth the price. Overpriced.I am not sure what you are doing but the Philippines is one of the top places in the world for Punters. Read the board a bit and you will find there are so many places and so many girls its crazy. If $40.000 USD is to much I really don't know what to say.

Thus, when I'm at my office in Ortigas, I ask one of my Filipina colleagues to speak with the driver. If I'm at another location, I'll ask someone who is at the same meeting to explain. This takes a lot of the uncertainty out of the equation.

Just came back from the Philippines- Manila and Angeles City and here is some guide for my fellow travellers. To start with, I want all first time travellrs to the Philippines to discard and forget all the reports that they have read in the internet about the crimes and theft and killing in the Philippines. Wear your watch and carry your mobile and keep your wallet in your pocket and enjoy your travel.
If you can get a flight from Dubai on the Emirates A380 it will be great and very enjoyable. If not, then you have to bear long hours of flight to reach Manila airport.
At 12:00 noon I reached Manila and believe it or not I was the only tourist there and the rest were overseas Filipino workers coming back home. It took me less than five minutes to pass the immigration. I waited for my luggage in the Customs section and when it arrived I moved direct towards the green zone. No hassle and no confusion. The service is much better than in Bangkok airport.
While I was waiting for my hotel taxi, I inquired at the airport taxi counter about the cost of transfer to my hotel in Emerita by Yellow taxi. The cost was 530 Peso and my hotel charged me 600 Peso.
Boulevard hotel in Emerita is a horrible place to stay in. However it was very close to the entertainment centres in Manila: L. A. CAfe, Amazonia and G-point. Amazonia was My first destination. It was a short walk from Boulevard hotel. A very nice place to enjoy your drink and chat with the waitresses. There were few outdated freelancers hovering there. The price of local beer (San Migel) is 70 Peso daytime and 135 at night. The price of freelancers for 3 or 4 hours is 1500 Peso but they would start with 2000. You would not find younger than 40 years of age among these. If you like the oldies go for it. The waitresses were attractive too but they were both time and money consuming. The Western customers who would show up there were also mature. Amazonia is quiet on day and night time. I tried with one of the waitresses but failed to get her attention. Some of the oldies, frankly speaking, are eloquent and full of experience. One of them agreed to give me all necessary action: kissing, hugging, massaging, BJ and anal. I took her to my hotel. The security asked for ID card. She did not have. Stealthily, I put 50 Peso in his hand and he let her. Inside the room she did as promised but after two hours she dressed up ready to go. So there is no full-time service in Manila, it is either 2 or 3 hours stay.
My next destination was L. A. Cafe which was very close to Amazonia. Now, here it is crowded, day and night. The cost of a local beer is 80 Peso on day time and 125 Peso at night. There are many freelancers there, young and old and the cost is 2000 Peso and above. The service is not as good as at Amazonia. You can find all nationalities here, Koreans, Australians Saudies and Africans. If you don't like downstairs you can go upstairs and its totally false the reports that assume upstairs is only for Koreans. But here, unlike Amazonia, smoking is a problem for non-smokers. I met a young freelancer who agreed to come with me for 1500 Peso inclusive. But she was not good and I sent her back.
G-point is a little further than L. A. And like Amazonia and it is quiet too. There are some old freelancers there. The cost of beer is very reasonable; 80 Peso during daytime. But what make G-point different is their daily buffet from 12:00 to 3:00 for only 260 Peso. I did not visit G-point at night because of the rain and distance.

I was in the bars recently. I didn't hear of any barfines that low (2000 at Stardust was the lowest quoted). Some girls I chatted with wanted 2-4000 for tip. I find they are willing to accept smaller tips during typhoons / storms, when there are fewer gents out in the rain.
Not aware of any Burgos bargirls going for free.The cheapest barfine I encountered was at Rouges-1600 for the regular girls (The Dancers are doubled-3200).

I am over Burgos bars, as I find them to be overpriced and underserviced.
I know about the Greenbelt offerrings, and have heard that some of the bars (like at New World Hotel) have some cute girls, but I am curious where you think have the best opportunities.

You mentioned a contradiction: You want a FL. You are tired of the Burgos bars (those are not FL). If you want a hottie, try the EDSA bars in Malate. It will cost you p5-6000 for the night, but you can get a looker for all night. You can negotiate up front the tip, and you can ask her all the questions you want. For instance, I ask if they have kids. If she says no, great. I tell them I won't tip if there are baby stretch marks once we get into the hotel, then I re-ask the question. About 1/3 of the girls will then fess up to having kids. Its a great way to weed out the mamas.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the comments. What I meant was that I am tired of the Burgos Bar scene, the last few times I have pulled from there the girls have not lived up to the promise and it is expensive for what I got. I tend to lean towards the FL's now. I know about ABC, and Havana's but to be honest the last few times I have been to both the ladies seem to have gotten more to the average part of the 10 scale and further away from the 7-8 range. As a rule, I worry much more about "chemistry" than just appearance, but as with most of us finding a looker that with a nice personality is a recipe for a good time. I wanted to see if I could get some recommendations for other venues that might offer a chance to meet ladies a little more towards the higher end of the desirability range. I know that is different for everyone. I am also aware that those ladies as you would expect have a higher fee structure. It isn't something I would choose everyday, but on occasion it is nice to sample the "higher end" as it were. Higher price is no guarantee of good service, but life is full of chances.

After FK (which starts getting good around 11-11:30pm), I suggest exploring the rest of Black Market: the main room, and Mao's Den on the second floor. The complexity lies in having sole strangers come straight to your place (honestly, a bloke can go to LA and get a group easily, and usually 1 girl ends up being the coordinator), having them heed the importance of punctuality (no easy feat), time management, residue removal, and refractory period. Bonus points if you can accomplish this without the arriving and departing girls seeing or knowing of each other. You've approached perfection, imo.

I have to say these variants of Skoggy, Skogis, Skogised etc etc was not my idea but as a bit of a player sometimes in Makati I have to put out how I view it. I count 3 or 4 somes and my one time 5 some as 1 session. It might take slightly longer time to organize the session since, at least the ones I have met, haven't been particularly good at what they are doing as team players. 1 on 1 fine and I can only remember a session with more than one woman feeling I was in a porn movie. They were team players and obviously I was not their first encounter, hehe. But also in my book dual or more girls goes by the one by one princip but if I repeat them I get them to atleast join forces in bed so I don't have to call the other girls inside the bedroom when it is swapping time. Pharmacy routines is I pop a Kamagra every now and then mostly towards the end of trips when the system can be hard to start over and over again. Did have a dip in exercise level two years ago but I am now going strong again with at least 1-2 hrs hard workout while back home (mountain biking, swimming, soccer, judo and boxing) and at least one bang session with GF (also exercise). I believe in constantly having sex because if you lets say wait for a week with sex before going mongering you will shoot all steam out as once (believe me I've tried). At least this is what works for me. If you had any idea about city traffic in general Moh you would know that answers to these questions are highly variable because, in Manila, distance is measured in terms of time and not actual kms or pesos.
For example, SM Megamall is around 500 meters from my condo. By taxi it is 60 pesos, and can take 15 minutes. Walking it takes me between 3 and 4 minutes and costs nothing.
In general, at (say) 11 am, it will cost between 100 - 200 php for every trip you mentioned (by the way, MBC is back to LAC).
Between 4 - 9 pm, it could cost anything up to 500 php and take more than 1 hour for the longest trip you asked about (GB to LAC).
If it's Friday, or it's raining, then it could cost anything up to 1000 php, if you can find a taxi.

With a regular taxi + zero traffic, you are looking at 100 PHP on the low end. The airport trip with a regular taxi will be the most due to a higher flag drop and getting out of the airport area. With traffic, it could be around 300 PHP.

Thanks!The Pan Pacific in Malate is just a 5-6 minute walk from LA Caf and Amazonia bars. Another 3-4 minutes walk from G-Point bar. All of those are FL places, with food / drink.
If you're in the mood for Makati, St. Giles Hotel is a 2-minute walk from the P Burgos gogo bars.

Your transit time and expense could be spent on two, maybe even three, girls from LA. Then I'd look at future opportunity. If I know I'll be back to the Philippines again for a longer stay I'd save AC for later. But, if a return visit is unlikely, and I've never been to Pattaya, AC experience is worth the adventure.

No. Stay in either Makati or Malati. There is plenty of action in either location and arguably better looking, more sophisticated girls. Even if I had a 3 night layover I would still prefer to spend it in Metro Manila rather than trudge up to AC and back. It is just not worth it, IMHO. That said, if you had more time, say 4 or 5 nights at your disposal, AC becomes a viable alternative to Manila although I still prefer Manila.

ThanksI've stayed at both. Both are perfectly located within their areas for sport, so it's more of a Makati vs Ermita preference. Those differences have been hashed over much on the forums. I'm more comfortable in Makati when solo, prefer with wingman in Ermita. The one in Makati has an outstanding and not expensive breakfast in the sports bar, although incompetent service when I was there. The one in Ermita has an Irish pub theme instead, but I didn't try it. Ermita has a super convenient 7-11 that's even closer than the exit to the street. The one in Ermita is somewhat more discreet than most in the neighborhood if that makes a difference.

I don't think I've posted a single FR in years so it might be time to participate a bit more actively again to the forum.
Back in manila, for the second time in about 1 year. A 19 y o girl I met in a sugarbaby website last year picked me up at the airport.

I booked in Pan Pacific without noticing it was outside Makati. It's in Malate actually, in the heart of an extremely seedy red light district.
Booked the largest 1 BR suite there which is very nice and where I spent most of my time, it's also good to be able to get up at any time and still be able to get staff to come and clean the room. The place is also girlfriendly.
But outside. Oh my. It's an open sewer kind of urbanization, dirty, rundown and STINKY.
Besides it's basically impossible to walk around quietly as touts, mostly males dressed in rags, would harass me one after the other, offering girls, like I was too stupid to notice the dozens of girls hanging outside the dozens of KTV joints.
It's probably not the worst place in Manila when it comes to girls' quality though, as Asian punters are often pickier than westerners, and I actually saw a couple of girls over breakfast with Japanese guys and they were quite doable. I guess if you just go from KTV to KTV without hanging out in the street it's a more bearable area.
I won't stay there again anyway, stayed in Makati last time and it was much more my style.
LACafe is a few steps away, it's as horrible as I remembered it, packed with ugly and older girls in again an open sewer kind of area. Didn't even have a drink there. Might be OK if you enjoy the darkest corners of Lower Sukhumvit in Bangkok. I don't.
I checked the New World hotel as well as someone here mentioned the bar with freelancers but found nothing besides the casino, which looks nicer the higher floor one goes.
Notice as well there are plenty of escorts staying in the area and easy to hook up with through Wechat, almost tried one but finally didn't, this area being such a turnoff.
Much more to my taste was City of Dreams, the first floor shopping area sure needs an ugrade but it looks like a smaller but still posh version of its Macau parent. And the clubs Pangea and Chaos in COD Manila are even better than the clubs in Macau, although I'm not quite up to date in this regards.
FWIW Chaos is a large club, with a typical Asian set up of tables all over the floor and punters mostly standing around their table or their couch. Stunning set up still and mixed crowd, probably a bunch of FLs, tourists and relatively hiso locals. Pangea is a bit smaller but the ambience got wilder when I was there, with drunk / high girls dancing and doing mildly sexy shows in various areas of the club. I've been there oly twice but mostly because I don't enjoy drinking everynight. Recommended.
Burgos street was the way I remembered it, less pushy than Malate and found most girls in Bottoms. I was mostly up for a BJ in a bar and found it only on my third stop, forgot the name, but had a two headed BJ on a couch and it was fun. Not bad although I get bored very fast with this kind of places.
Checked Edsa but just before 3 am with the gogos already closing, the arab nightclub was packed though, no much feeling to share there, might give it another try later.
Went to Greenbelt and Havana Cafe as well, I like the area, but it seems many of the FLs there could be mothers of the girls I'm interested in (still of legal age).
The girls dancing inside seemed even older. Disappointing but again a nice area to hang out and have a drink.
Visited Global City one morning and it's quite nice, might give a try to the Fort area bars on the next visit.
Altogether an OK experience, although I'll make sure before next trip to contact more girls through the internet.

Always I travel light so I could walk if I need. Seems she get happy and took me to the Airport Loop Line white bus to ride; just outside of departure hall. It was cost only 20 php for each and dropped us at Genesis Bus terminal just behind the Hotel Sogo, Pasay. Than we cross the road throw the Taft Ave. MRT station and just in front of us, I saw Hotel Kabayan and that was our choice. She understood the ambiance and the neighborhood I feel weird. She get worried and tried to explain that it is near the airport and convenient for her too. I assured her not to worry if it is safe.

If you had any idea about city traffic in general Moh you would know that answers to these questions are highly variable because, in Manila, distance is measured in terms of time and not actual kms or pesos.
For example, SM Megamall is around 500 meters from my condo. By taxi it is 60 pesos, and can take 15 minutes. Walking it takes me between 3 and 4 minutes and costs nothing.
In general, at (say) 11 am, it will cost between 100 - 200 php for every trip you mentioned (by the way, MBC is back to LAC).
Between 4 - 9 pm, it could cost anything up to 500 php and take more than 1 hour for the longest trip you asked about (GB to LAC).
If it's Friday, or it's raining, then it could cost anything up to 1000 php, if you can find a taxi.I'm loving Uber, its been great and so much nicer than any cab. I really recommend trying it. 100% great experiences.

Arrived in Manila Saturday evening. Went to the parking lot outside to the right of the entrance and got a yellow taxi for 400 p to Makati. Metered would be about 250 - 300 p I believe. Like always some will try and charge you 800-1000 p.
Staying at the Knightsbridge Residences. Paid like 850 dollars for 30 nights through Airbnb. This is a nice place. The area around it is also quite good. Two malls within a short walking distance. Outside of Avenue Mall there is some night market with a lot of food, people, and live music. Down the road you have the red light district of Burgos. Out of curiosity, how much do the street girls go for? I have seen some decent lookers walking around. Nice to have a cheap fall back plan if I strike out from the normal clubs or online dates.

First it depends which Terminal you are getting out from. From Terminal 1, can't go wrong with the yellow taxi. Coming in about 8 times a year through this airport at all times of the day, for the past 15 years, I rarely get in a line. The other terminals have lines.
I saw your posting on yellow taxi. It is always a good idea to know where you are going. I am familiar with the place, though a foreigner, but I love the yellow taxi. No lines from T1. And always ask them to put on the meter, as soon as you get in. If they start negotiating, say, I have taken tis taxi many times, and have never paid for than 300 P to Makati. And offer 350 P. Never had a taxi driver who refused. About 30% of the time, I get this really honest drivers. They turn on the meter, and ask if you want to go via skyway. So, I tell them skyway, get the 20 P ready for the tool. Once I get to my hotel, the meter usually reads about 250 to 280 P (Glorieta 3/ Ayala area). I've always given them 500 P for being honest.
At the yellow taxi counter, ask the guys how much. They have always told me pretty close to the right amount.
In 15 years of doing this I was duped once. I paid it because I did not want trouble. 2000 P to Manila Hotel, on Manila side (Roxas). It is usually 300 P.

After going to a movie with a date, I decided to go out clubbing. Headed to Malate. Went to Eklusive around 12 am, no cover charge. Not alot of people there. Did their pricing go up? They charged like 130 p for a redhorse. Made my rounds and decided to walk over to MBC. Lots of haggard females here. No cute waitresses like on my first trip a few years back. Had one beer and left. I just got to my hotel here (Executive Plaza Hotel) near Robinsons Mall, but before that I stopped by a Mercury Drug store. I asked if the had Rite Med (Sildenafil), but the male pharmacist said I need a prescription and gave me a little smirk. LOL.
I guess I have to visit other pharmacies and ask them.
Some things I noticed on my first trip to the Philippines (and some advice):
1.) If you're feeling adventurous and have very little luggage, you can try to take the bus from the airport to EDSA / Taft and take the metro from there.
At the airport, Terminal 3, the bus line starts near Bay 8 (was it 8 Bay? Either way, it's not difficult to find. You take the Route 2 bus towards EDSA / Taft. Fare was only P20.
LRT train to Pedro Gil station was P15.
I made a Filipino friend who helped me tremendously navigating through the streets around there station to find my way into the station.
On the way to EDSA / Taft, there was a shitload of traffic already at 3:30 pm when I got on the bus. Oh, and I passed by the infamous EDSA complex and say Heritage Hotel across the street.
2.) Push your way into and out of the trains. I took the LRT to Pedro Gil Station and oh boy it was jam packed. Again, use the metro if you don't have a lot of luggage.
Honestly, from now on I'll probably just use taxis to avoid the crowds.
Going to try another pharmacy to buy Andros or Rite Med before I start the night. It's already 6:30 pm!

Unless it's surge pricing, Uber will always be significantly cheaper (and verifiable with a emailed receipt on the breakdown of the cost). Yes, Uber has it's share of rookie drivers, but the normal cabs can be crazy drivers as well.
I've had 50+ rides with Uber in Manila and only 5 have been pretty bad (driver took forever, driver missed my location, etc). If you are going to a random place or pickup location, it might get a little difficult.

Just asked and they offered Pfizer or Rite Med, the former being something like 4 x the price of the latter. Finally got around to going on a clubbing / bar date last night. Messaged a girl on skout. We met at Rockwell PowerPlant mall. Getting a taxi to Mandaluyung was a *****. After awhile we finally got one to take us, for 200 p though.
Wanted to check out this place called Rehab Gastro Bar. I really liked this place. Like an entertainment complex. First level had live music. On the second and third they had more seating. There is a small club on the second floor for dancing.
I was the only Westerner there for most the night but an older white Gentleman came after I did. This is a local place. Good prices. Paid 260 p for a bucked of SML.
Need to find some more places like this in Manila. Kind of reminded me of a poor man's MO2 in Cebu.

It's in the area of Manila known as Recto (Sampaloc district), at the corner of Recto and Rizal. It's near UST, Asia's oldest uni, so if you like looking at beautiful old buildings you can can do that while you wait. You'll also see all the FEU coeds in their green skirts; FEU campus also has some nice art deco buildings. If you're looking for a mall to hang out at there's Isetann Department Store (not to be mistaken for the famous Isetan of Japan); so few foreigners ever go there it's a good place to chat up shop girls, if that's your thing. Recto is kind of dodgy so take care with your wallet and personal items. I advise not going there late afternoon or night.

Just to freak some of you out, I prefer unshaven armpits. A lot of Asian girls aren't very hairy, so 20-30 hairs there I find very sexy. Getting a Filipina to agree to cease shaving or plucking is nearly impossible.Huts,
