Depending on the affluence of the neighborhood where you saw the sign, it might be don't flush any large sanitary pads etc or more likely its don't flush any paper products at all. If any paper tissue is to be used, there is typically a small bucket near by to dispose of it separately. For more traditional facilities there is no bucket nor paper: it's purely wash and run.

It is the local review board for "spas" (massage with extras). Apparently, in Manila, they call these "spas" as opposed to "massage parlors", which are more like Bangkok full service soapies.
Spa Osaka seems to get good comments from posters. The pricing from ManilaTonight ads are: 1500 entrance and 1000 minimum tip, which is presumably HJ. They also list an "all in" price of 5500, which is presumably full service.

According to my sister-in-law who lives just south of Manila International Airport, they are getting very light ash. They are just 50 kilometers north of the volcano. The airport has been closed and opened. I don't know the status right now.

Got ready to get a Grab car and go to Abaca Spa in Malate. Figured I should check Manila Tonight for any specials. Guess what. That location is apparently closed due to building ownership problems. Any suggestions for alternatives in the same area? Anyone with experience at SOTA massage or Spa Hiroshima?
Arrived January 15th MNL, terminal 3, 10 pm. No problem with on time arrival. Passport control had long lines. Wait was about 20 minutes.
Got baggage and was at Genesis bus at 10:40 pm for 11:00 pm departure. Arrived in AC at 1:00 am.
BTW, Genesis has moved to the median strip in front of Bay 11. No longer at Bay 14.

There was no action at all for around 15 minutes, then a couple of young guys stroll into view. 2 trolleys arrive and the guys take forever to undo the straps and start loading bags. I kid you not; the trolleys arrived very haphazardly and my bag (marked priority) came out after 65 minutes. I don't know what the problem was. I assume it was too few baggage handlers, trolleys etc for the backlog of flights after the volcano closed the airports.
Luckily I got a Grab car within 5 minutes of emerging from T3 but then it took a further 115 minutes to get home to my condo.
All up. Sydney to Manila = 7 hours 30 min. T3 to home = 3 hours.

Volcanic eruption or not, baggage in NAIA move like snails. That is the reality we have in the Philippines.
But it's not fair to single us out. I have also experienced more than an hour waiting for my baggage during my vacation in UK last year (Edinburgh Airport).
Was walking thru Robinsons supermarket at Robinsons Place Ermitra when the biggest rat I have ever seen ran past me and under some freezers. It was the size of a cat!

At major US hubs in the last year, I have had luggage delays of 45+ minutes during non-peak travel, and at the same airport (and airline, at other non-peak travel time) have had luggage already on the carousel just moments after I arrived at the carousel. Not sure what the rhyme / reason is behind it.

Once at the carousel area, as the passengers from our flight gathered around our carousel, I noticed that all the carousels were not moving. The TV monitors over each showed no inbound flights, only my carousel showed one flight (mine). We still waited more than an hour for the luggage to start coming out. From the time they turn of the seat-belt sign (that would be approximately when they move in to offload luggage), to arriving at the carousel area (its a walk), is about 15 minutes. If on some flights the luggage shows up on the carousel 20 minutes after the seat belt sign is turned off, and on other flights it takes 60+ minutes (at 1 am), why the difference in delay? My tiny brain wants to know.

Five minutes later luggage was showing on the rack. The crew was offloading luggage by the time I was walking down the aircraft ladder (and I was 3rd off the front of the plane, and we were de-planing at both front / back of the plane). That was fast! One thing that has changed is that a lot of times baggage handlers will off load luggage and then load the luggage for the next flight before taking the offloaded luggage to baggage claim. Also in the US for sure there seems to be a schedule for baggage handlers, so if your flight lands late you go to the back of the line. This happened to me once in Houston (IAH), on a flight from Beijing. Long wait for baggage that day. The most entertaining lost luggage event I ever had was on a flight from Beijing to Ningbo. Apparently a whole baggage cart got lost in Beijing because when we got to Ningbo about half the plane, including me, did not get their luggage. You have not seen chaos until you witness a bunch of Chinese being told that their luggage has been misplaced. Good times! Anyway, spent a late night at my favorite bar in Ningbo and was woken up the next day by the hotel letting me know my lost luggage had been delivered to the hotel and it was on its way to my room.

RG.You pay cash to driver when you order from Grab. Otherwise same principle like Uber. You will get name, car description, plate number. Also it will track the car and it will let you know when it is outside. So essentially you can wait inside where the WiFi signal is great till the car arrives. Car will wait 10 minutes outside. Sometimes they will call you to find out where you are.

RG.You don't have to use a credit card for Grab. You can just pay cash. Basically, you pay 60 pesos for the Grab booking fee on top of the meter (if you use Grab taxi, which is white taxis). The easiest way to make your iPhone work immediately upon landing is to get a Google Fi SIM card. Order it online before you leave, and make sure it is working at home. When you land, it will work within a few minutes of turning the phone on. It works in almost every country in the world. You use the Google Fi app to turn the service on or off, so you only pay when you need it. Works great.

This time tried Flight 168. Elsewhere on the internet, this is described as one of the top massage style venues in Manila. It is the first floor of the Air Force One KTV complex. Air Force One is apparently more of a "KTV" karaoke type place, with more expensive girls, but it was closed on the day I visited, a Sunday.
Flight 168 is open 12 noon-4 am every day. It is like a Bangkok soapie with a fishbowl type set up and what appears to be about 50 private rooms with large bed, jacuzzi, shower, en suite toilet / sink etc. You can order food and drinks to your room. If you arrive before 7 pm, the prices are better. An "economy" room is for 90 minutes. A "first class" room is for 120 minutes. You pick the room quality first and then they walk you over to the fishbowl. Room quality doesn't determine which girl you get. I arrived around 5 pm and had about 10 girls to choose from. By the time I left around 7 pm, there were twice as many. My girl told me she only works from 12 noon-8 pm, then rides two hours home to take care of her 6 year old son. RG.You can buy local SIM card outside the airport. Global is a good company. Keep in mind the people selling SIM cards outside are independent sellers and do not offer the discounts or specials normally given by the mobile operators. They will try charging more and lure you in buying data. Best is to buy small pack and top it up online by registering on the company web site. Grab works best in Asia. Takes away the hassles dealing with taxi drivers. Just in case you decide to take a taxi avoid the agents trying to get you in taxi across the parking. Only take the yellow taxi outside the arrival hall.

Maybe some taxi driver told you that and asked you to use him to top up your account because they get a small percentage if you do it that way. I not once used grabpay credits in any Asian cities and always just pay with credit card. You can now even tip the driver on it as well like you could with uber / lyft.

A few minutes after stepping out a Grab car / taxi, my CC account shows the charge as 'pending'. Uber in States is same for me, direct to CC. I was not aware one could use cash with Grab until mentioned here recently. I thought the idea was that you take a ride in the Grab / Uber car / taxi, pulled up at the curb, got out without pulling out a wallet or cash, and walked away, knowing the Grab taxi meter amount (plus Grab fee) or the original Grab fee for Grab car was about to be billed to your CC. There is always a Grab notification about 60 seconds after departing the car that says something like: "Your card has been charged for this ride", or such.

I have found it hard at times for the credit card charge to process through for advance credits of 500 or 1000 pesos. So I have been charging each trip with my credit card.
In the past I would carry a prepaid 1000 pesos credit for the convenience of it. I found out that the account was connected to your PH cell phone number. After my CP was picked pocketed and I got a new cp number I was not able to transfer the credit balance over. Supposedly now there is a way to transfer it over but it is quite complicated.
So each options has its benefits.

RG.I don't know. I have been outside of North America for so long all phones I have bought in the last 10 or so years have been unlocked. I go with android as well.
I just use my oldest functional phone for mongering (Samsung S3 mini, bought in 2013) That way if it disappears, all I have lost is the data on it, mainly contacts and chats but these get backed up to the cloud periodically.
You can buy a reasonable basic smart phone here for 4 to 6 k peso.

So why buy a cell phone under a 2 year contract? Simple, it is cheaper. When the new Samsung Galaxy S8 just came out, my cousin and I went to AT&T and bought into their promotion offer to buy one S8 at full price and get a 2nd one for free with 2 two year service contracts and 2 year 0. 00% financing on the 1st phone. We also accepted their family promotion for unlimited calling & data on both phones. Anyway, a month later I was in BKK and needed to unlock my phone, so I paid for an unlock code over the internet.
BTW, there is an even cheaper way to unlock a phone. Just find a local tech jockey. They will do it for half the price of the internet method. I once knew a guy in Jakarta who unlocked my cell phone a while back. He use to hang out in the back of a red pickup truck on a side street running parallel to Jin Jaksa. You probably know of equally tech savvy guys in Pattaya or MNL.

The big boys like AT&T will not unlock you cell phone if it is under contract. So why buy a cell phone under a 2 year contract? Never had a problem with T-mobile doing it. These days they even have an app on the phone where you can unlock it yourself. The unlock lasts 30 days and you can do it up to 6 times. If you need it unlocked any more than that then you just call them. And as long as I have been a customer, before they had that app they would always permanently unlock it for me as soon as I got it.
These days phones are more advanced and certain models can not be unlocked by bootleg methods.
Also these days I have not seen a phone purchased under contract from a carrier to cost any less. The difference is only that you are able to pay for it on a payment plan instead of up front.

The main advantage I see with buying direct from Samsung or any manufacturer, for that matter, is you get a much less bloated phone. AT&T really adds on the craplets. Zero financing is good too, but you don't need to buy from the service company to get that.

You have to call ATT's customer service number (611?) to request it. They will send it to your email address on file. Have unlocked all of my ATT and TMobile phones this way over the years, and had the unlock code in my inbox within 48 hours of phone purchase. In addition, many phone repair shops in the US can unlock your phone for a fee ($20-$40). Phone repair shops in Phils will do it for about half that price.
There is a second process called 'rooting' your phone, which is not the same as unlocking. Rooting allows you to remove the bloatware that your carrier puts on all its phones (extra ATT junk apps that come with the phone that you normally cannot remove without rooting the phone. Rooting the phone might void its warranty).
Concur also with MR E on the price. Walk into any TMobile, ATT, or Verizon store. Look at the price for any phone on the shelf. If the price is, say, $720, and they offer a contract of payments over 24 months, the monthly price will be $30, as 24 x $30 = $720. The monthly price will total to the actual price. Some carriers even offer an app already included in the phone that will unlock it, so you don't have to call and ask for the unlock code.

Hello!
Most Current cell phones Within past 4 years Samsung Or Iphones will work either GSM desired band and CDMA Verizon / Sprint.
So being Verizon or Sprint does not matter. Google the model on internet and ask, GSM capable.
You need to make sure the phone You buy is unlocked.
IF you are still under contract, call your provider and tell them You are going to travel international and ask them to Unlock phone for travel, usually they will no problem.
If your phone is No Longer under contract, call the provider and ask for them to permanently Unlock the phone. They should.
Wifi, the phone should work WiFi whether locked or not, no matter carrier.
Be careful buying Used phones from unknown people saying the phone is Unlocked. Go to your carrier and ask them to check it for You before paying them. You carrier will check for Free as you stand there.
A locked phone is not as easy to unlock as mentioned earlier. Yes, older phones Are not so hard, but newer Galaxy 8, 9, 10 or Iphones 7,8,9,10 or 11 are basically impossible to unlock these days.

1. Cellular service in Philippines is the GSM network which ATT uses. Verizon uses CDMA network which is different frequency than GSM. Unlocked GSM network cell phones will work in Philippines only for cell service.
2. Modern smart cell phones have Wifi capability whether using GSM or CDMA networks. Cell phone can be locked and still the WiFi capability will work.
Locked means the cell phone is locked to the original cell phone service provider.

Single visitors are mostly big gamblers. As I know big gamblers get girls supplied to them from casino.
China is on a lockdown mode for some time to come. No visa on arrival at Philippines for now. Yes, it will hurt hotels and businesses in China Towns and Chinese oriented businesses everywhere. Especially escorted tour groups. I see them a lot here in USA.

I noticed there are KTVs near EDSA. I know they are charge more, but one of the local taxi driver told me girls are pretty, and you pay the bill and take her out (if she agrees), she will perform well. Altitude of EDSA bar girls are depends. I have good experiences, and there was a period of time I encountered bad experiences in a row. I like morning sessions, so always ask for a LT. Some girls would agree the tip, etc, and then at 4,5 am there are all the reasons given that she needs to leave. Damage increases quickly. Bar fine might still below Burgos, but tip is at the same level, and in my opinion, talent level is lower. So I think, if anyway the cost is 7 k+, maybe a KTV girl will be more trust worthy? So I did some search, go to the KTV directly and ask to meet the mamasang. There's always people rendering near the entrance and wants to bring you in. Don't follow them. Go to mamasang and tell her you are on your own. Some friend recommended this place. Otherwise your 'broker' will charge a certain fee when you get the bill. These KTVs are normally bigger than bars, with strippers show one by one. Actions started from 7 pm for the 1st batch. The 2nd batch arrived at around 9 pm and make the line up complete. I have to admit the show is good. This is the way girls promote themselves to potential clients. And in average talent level is higher. As for the cost side, if you can have mama waived out entrance fee, you need to pay 1-2 k to book a table, which include drinks for yourself. And you have to have at least one girl with you, with a charge of 600 peso per hour I think. If you want to shag the girl, you can pay 4 k to bring her upstairs (I didn't try), or, pay 7 k to bring her back for a long time. So for any LT, the cost is 9-10 k minimum.
The issue is, I quickly realized that within the 30-50 girls, only less than 5 are willing to do LT. They keeps on suggesting you to go upstairs with them. And they are more aggressive gold diggers. A girl I let go at last asked for a tip of 1 k, which I told her to f**k off. Another asked for supper at 10 pm, after we left the building. She ordered 2 set burge for herself and had me paid. As there are 2 cokes, I started to drink one, and it surprised her. Apparently she thinks that's all hers. I was quite doubtful how can her tiny body consume 2 huge burges, and it turned out that she booked her breakfast for tomorrow as well! So we went to the room, had one session and sleep. I was waked up next morning at 4:30 am and she wanted to leave! I complained that I agreed with mama and herself to have her leave at 8 am and have 2 sessions. Then all the excuses come. In the end I have to tell her, if she leaves, I will claim to the mama right away (so keep contact of the mama as always). Only this kept her. We get to sleep for another few hours till 7 am. Then, she refused to have a 2nd session unless I paid tip. So the same process went again. She fulfilled her duty at last and before she left, she didn't forget to ask for a taxi fee.
Overall I feel higher pay doesn't bring you better performance. I haven't been to airforce 1. Now I suppose the mentality is similar. If you want to spend a few k and enjoy the stripper show, KTV is ok. Maybe someone can tell the ST experience upstairs. I 'm more inclined to deal with FL and develop some regulars. This would take some time and hope the efforts would pay off. Too much dramas from those bar and KTV girls these days.

Unlocked with a local sim and locked or unlocked with US sim and a wifi connection.Most higher end smart phones have been world phones for some time now (meaning they operate on both GSM and cdma). Verizon phones are unlocked by default, unless you're on a prepaid plan. I just came back about a week ago and my iPhone 11 pro worked fine. Before leaving the terminal, I bought a globe sim from one of the vendors (4 K, 20 ish gb of data+talk+text), the globe girl popped out my Verizon sim, installed the globe sim and set it all up, you can test it before you leave the booth. If attached is your phone, the s10 is a world phone. All devices will work on WiFi no matter where you are. Feel free to pm me any questions. Verizon & Sprint are CDMA technology based phones.
Most higher end Unlocked phones are capable of both GSM & CDMA.
On WiFi basically all phones are internet capable.
A sim card is required to make normal phone calls & text via telephone network.
You can make VOIP calls over the internet using multiple applications, IE WhatsApp, WeChat etc.
You can use Spype, Magicjack or other applications to call land line or cell phones in USA or most other countries, provided You Buy a subscription.
Personally, I think safest decision is to Always buy a local sim card and pay for at least a minimum ampunt of talk time for an Emergency situation.
Cannot dial Police or Ambulance on WhatsApp etc.

Over wi-fi you can make calls and send messages through an app, for example whatsapp.
On WiFi you can browse the internet and you can also download maps, languages for translation etc and once downloaded you can use these when not connected to WiFi.

Best way is to always list 2 guests in room or more if allowed. If security questions, just tell them she is your asawa (wife). They will not bother you unless it's late at night like after 10 pm. May also be a good idea to register them with security because they may call you after the girl leaves to make sure everything is OK. This is mostly because after the first day I find I don't get on at all with the person and I wish they would leave so I can relax or whatever LOL It also tends to be expensive.

I'm in the Philippines for 3 weeks, I arrived last Thursday and was in Manila for 4 days, in Makati, at the Lub the hotel (on Makati Ave near the top end of P Burgos), and am now in Cebu.
