I've been to many places in Asia, but it's my first time to Manila. I'm having some struggles.
First off, any advice on the ATM situation. All the ATMs will only let me withdraw 10,000, and they have a high fee, so I'd prefer to withdraw a lot more. I found one that let me withdraw 40,000, but when I went back it was empty. Please advise.
Second, I've been in Manila for a week and the girls here seem like bitches. They've been super snotty to me. I've also been stood up three times as well. P5 k and p10 k are the normal maximum limits at ATM's in Philippines (its a cash-based culture, with low fees for each machine's own customers, but not for you as you are not a customer). You will get hit with a machine-fee of p250 ($5 USD), and probably your own bank will hit you with a $5 USD 'Out of Network' fee (for not using one of their machines). Today's p10 k = about $186 USD, so you are paying $10 for the convenience of getting $186. Last year in my home country I went to a cinema to watch a movie with some friends. I hit an ATM machine outside the cinema to get some cash ($50) for the over-priced cinema food. The machine hit me for a $5 machine fee, and my bank hit me for a $5 out-of-network fee. I paid $10 to get $50. I get hit with both of those in every foreign country.
Couple of thoughts:
1) Go to a mall and find the ATM area. Often you will see a BDO, MetroBank, and several other ATM's near each other. Use your debit card to hit several machines.
2) Several gents have mentioned getting an ATM card that, as a perk, rebate any outside-network ATM fees at the end of each month (that includes both up-front machine fees and their own Out-of-Network fee). Schwab has one.
3) Skip the ATM's and remit (ie, Western Union) the money to yourself online (say, p50 k, about $1000 USD). Take your online receipt (reference number) to any of the WU payout locations in Manila (Cebuana Lhuillier, M Lhuillier, LBC, BDO, MetroBank etc) and pick up your cash. The online remit fee will be about $5 and will be deducted from your associated debit bank account (the payout locations won't charge you anything to pick up the cash). Besides WU, World Remit, MoneyGram, and Remitly are also online services for sending money from your home country bank account to someone (including yourself) overseas.

It is commonly prescribed for months at a time for skin conditions and it will catch bacterial infections before they develop. Exchange a reasonable amount over a holiday and it soon adds up.
I've used Wise cards and the savings make a difference. It also helps that they can be used for pretty much any currency.

FWIW most BPI ATMs will dispense up to P20,000.I do concur, I always look for a BPI if I want to pull from an ATM. It has always been 20 K with 250 fee.
However I would suggest loading your gcash and using that, I just added to my gcash balance and my rate was 56.32 today. It was pretty much instant with my debit card. I prefer Malate but have also stayed around Pasay and Mall of Asia. If I was staying 2 months which I have done before I moved every 2 weeks to check out different locations.
Apart from AirBnBs there are many condo hotels that offer apartments at good prices. Search the aggregator sites.

The only thing I would add is Makati is actually a big area, so maybe consider somewhere close to Greenbelt or Glorietta (both collections of shopping malls) which would put you roughly 20-30 min walk from P. Burgos St (the Girly bar area) in case you get board. Or if you are after more high end regular ladies and your budget can afford it then BGC would be the place to hang out. Both areas have a very wide range of good restaurants, bars and clubs, although Makati will win out as the better party place overall, and for me Makati is a bit more real as BGC reminds me of a mini Singapore bubble in Manila.

So I land back in Manila, knowing that I'm heading back home to pussy prison and want to make it worth it. My flight arrived in the evening. I book in Duck Inn like before, shower and shave, then head down to the bar to get some food and beer before I head off.
I arrive at LA Cafe at like 9 pm there. It's packed. It's a week day but I'm glad to see it so full. I grab a seat and do my usual "pretend to be bored and looking up at the air while I glance around the floor". Well the talent is weak. Same thing as before, mostly women in their 30's. Eventually this 30 year old tries to befriend me and I tell her she's not my type. Well she's determined to help me out so I explain what I like and she goes around to find what I want. A subset of Spanish words are still leftover. Possibly 10-ish% of the language (s) is Spanish. However Spanish is not taught in school as a complete and separate language. Those words still in existence here are considered part of the local tongue and are taught in school as are other words (some Malay / other polynesian, or some English). The local tongue in each area (ie Tagalog, Cebuano, Bisaya) will have differing mixes of these, and are considered complete dialects in and of themselves. The local tongue is learned from birth in the home as in any other country. English is taught in school as a separate language starting in grade 1 or 2, I believe.
Of the subset of Spanish words, they are often spelled as they sound in your ear (phonetically). The Spanish trabajo (your job) is often spelled in Phils as trabaho. The Spanish quiet J sounds like an H, thus the spelling. The Spanish guapo (handsome, like Westy) might be spelled as gwapo. The Spanish como estas (how are you) is spelled as kumusta (or such, as it sounds like como esta) and might be shortened to 'musta'.
Everyone here learns 3 sets of numbers: One, two, three; un, dos, tres; and esa, delawa, tatlo (Tagalog). Or usa / usi, duha, tulo (Cebuano). Or esi (to my ear), duha, tulo (Bisaya). Regardless of dialect, everyone understands those as English, Spanish, and their local tongue. While a cebuano here might not understand that delawa (Tagalog) means '2', everyone here understands that dos (Spanish) means '2'. Its a strange mix.
A lot of Spanish is simply missing here. If you try to strike up a conversation here in Spanish, you will befuddle most pinoy. There is a group of pinoy in NW Mindanao called Badiao that speak very good Spanish as their native dialect (Bisaya is second for them). Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I am colored too, been to Philippines few times. Filipinos are very uninformed about world most of them. When I say, I am from USA, they don't believe me.
But money talks, even you are white guy you will have hard time scoring the working class good girls unless you are exceptionally good looking guy with blonde hair and blue eyes.
If you you built up relationship online before you go which is a lot of work.
If you can pay, you will have not much issue getting girls from LA cafe or malls.

For Westerners, Angeles City is just one main street with a few small side streets with bars filled with available girls and not much else to do. I would get a universal adapter anyway if you travel a lot. This will help in Europe and a lot of other countries. I order mine at Amazon and usually buy one with 4 or 5 USB charging ports so its a travel adapter and a charger for multiple devices in one.

Spent 10 days in the Philipines, majority in Manila with a short stint in Boracay. The time in Manila was all work so finding time to get into trouble was a little challenging. I've been a regular visitor to the Philippines for the past 15 years but haven't been back since 2019. On my most recent trip last week I was able to check out LA Cafe for the first time.
