Mook, I didn't know that they reported the test to the govt. Do they only report the tests that are positive or everybody. Or just the foreigners?

There was a poster a few months ago who said that his mo was to barfine two girls for a week; take them to the doctor and if the results were ok, then he could bareback them for a week. Can't remember his name but its in either one of the Manila sections or AC.

Just as an aside, if the girl has picked up HIV withing six months of the test, it won't show up on the test, but she can still infect. Thats what I understand to be the case.

You might want to start with the girls in the bar. They always tell me about the 'pussy doctor' upstars and how they have to get checked every two weeks or after being barfined. Maybe that doc can give you the name of someone.

Just to show that the barfine bars' system is not all its cracked up to be, a girl I barfined a few weeks ago in the Firehouse (EDSA) had been hired by the bar on a Thursday, tested, and allowed to work immediately, even though the results of her test would not be available until Monday!

On a broader note, I'm curious just how often any mongers pick up something in the Manila bars. Or at all? Its never mentioned here. Do the mongers just go home and lick their wounds? Or is it really that safe.

Actually, the test is not for a bar girl, I wouldn't trust the test anyway because of the 6 month rule. You know I've been trying to get my hands on the oral HIV test, it gives results in 20 minutes but it's only available to doctors, at least in the states. Maybe they sell it in the PI.

The test is for a girl I know from 2 years ago, I'm going to recommend her to a friend who wants to get married, he's filipino-american. Anyway, just to be on the safe side, I'm going to get her tested for HIV before introducing them.

Personally, I believe HIV is a bigger problem in the PI than most people think for a couple of reasons.

Filipinos don't use condoms much.
Oversea workers go abroad and come back home in droves.
The Catholic church says not to use them.

About the clinics reporting to the govt. I'm not sure about that but that's what I heard and just in case why risk it and give a real name.

If anybody got the test done in the PI, do you know how long the test takes them.

Heading out the PI next week.. see you all there. :)

Guys,

Is the EDSA complex area safe? I'm gonna be staying at the Copacaban by myself for a few nights before I meet up w/ a few friends, and was wondering if it was safe to walk around those streets at night.

There's really no place to walk near the Edsa complex. The bars themselves are all housed within one large building, so all of your walking between bars will be inside. The area is safe and your biggest concern outside will be fending off the hustlers trying to sell you counterfeit viagra and cialis, but there's no reason to walk around as it's all quite compact.

Ralek, I walk round there at night and never had a problem but use good judgment as in any big city. Walk on Roxas or EDSA, rather than dark side streets. Be careful especially near the underpasses of the road (squatters hang out there). Don't carry valuables or look clueless, and don't talk to strangers who approach you. Walking up Roxas will bring you by several other night clubs but large fleece joints until you get to Visions.

In general, violent crime to a foreigner in that area would be VERY unusual I think But petty theft, or getting conned, could happen in a New York Minute. Don'y play cards, gamble in any way, or buy drugs. Just use common sense and I think you can walk up Roxas without undue danger. I do warn you that the area further up Roxas by the water provides lots of hiding places for bad guys, but the smell alone should deter you from walking THAT part.

My last 6 or 8 times I have been to Manila I have stayed at The Executive Plaza. I walk the area alot, at all times of the day and night. I have walked to and from LA Cafe, both with a lady and alone,(usually TO LA Cafe alone, and FROM with a lady, lol) I have never felt threatned or in danger. I tend to walk fast, like I know where I am going, and ignore the beggers and sellers.

I was just in Manila, Cebu, and AC, 3 weeks ago and will be back first week of September. Damn I miss it!

As for the safety of the area, all I can tell you is when the guy I went to manila with (he grew up there) and his cousins saw the area LA Cafe was in, they were horrified that I had gone there alone. I don't know if they were just being over protective or if its really that bad of an area...But most of the filipinos I talk to seem to think its pretty dangerous. However I have been wanting to ask the board's perspective on this also. How bad of an area is it? I havn't seen any posts like "I got beat down/robbed at LA Cafe" so I have to assume its alright.

However I was there a number of times and never had a problem. I even walked down the street to Amazonia (about a block) and had no problem at all, but it was full day light and I had a lady with me. I have a feeling that with all of the westerners that frequent both places, measures are kept to keep them safe. I think the last thing any filipino business owner would want is something discouraging western money from coming to his or her place.

So far my time here in Manila has been wonderful. Thus far I had the pleasure of seeing 4 women. I am currently staying at the Hyatt Casino and Hotel in Malate, a couple of blocks from LA Cafe. The cost of my room is $90 per night excluding breakfast thus I will be transfering to the Traders Hotel down the street where the cost of a night is $68, including breakfast and a view of Manila Bay.

The first time I went out was Friday night, after my long flight from LAX. The fact that there were 3 flights coming from the US West Coast didn't help matter and I had to wait in line at immigration for approximately 20 minutes along with trying to find my bags amidst a bunch of big "balikbayan" boxes made my stay at NAIA last about an hour and a half.

My first night I stayed at the Bellevue Hotel in Alabang. The cost was $70, which includes complimenetary buffet breakfast. I asked a taxi driver to take me to Cafe Havana, since I did not know anyplace in Alabang. The guy charged 400 pesos to take me there, which is about $8. This is fair in the US but not in the PI and the fact that I didn't demand that he turn on the meter gave me no recourse to complain.

Guys, as an advice, demand that the cabs turn on their meter. People will screw you here if you look like a foreigner. Anyway, I just hung out at the Cafe Havana because I didn't want to take a girl to my hotel room in Alabang. I then went to Quezon Avenue and Pegagus. I decided to go to Sylavanus, the massage parlor in the basement of Pegasus, where one can get a massage along with full service for a total of 3000 pesos, about $60, for an hour and 20 minutes.

The girl I chose was Cherry, number 84, a 23 year old from Manila. If you like to have your nipples lick along with your member, I would recommend her since she knows how to use her tongue proficiently. After doing the deed, she gave me her phone number so that I can take her out. I was told by a bellhop at the Hyatt that this is a common practice of girls here in the PI, where they try to find "joiners" or guys who would like to join them when they come to Philippines or during their stay in the PI.

After Sylvanus, I went up the hill to Starduz, where I met the manager Lito. He indicated to me what the process was at the place and I just ordered a bottle of beer so that I can recuperate from my encounter with number 84, Cherry. At the meantime, there were a constant parade of girls on the stage, and I saw the girl who I wanted to take upstairs--Chris, a 20 year old girl from Bacolod.

I then told Lito about her and he went to the back and got her for me. I paid Lito 3500 pesos and he escorted Chris and me upstairs. This is like the place in Monterrey, Mexico, where one can do the deed with the girls at the premises. Instead, however, the girls cost only $70, not $200, like in Poisson.

After doing the deed with Chris, which took the whole hour I was with her, since I just had that encounter with Cherry at Sylvanus, it was already 5 am. I tipped Chris 500 pesos, along with the 500 pesos for Lito, and took a cab back to Alabang. I had to asked about 3 drivers to turn on their meter to go back there because they just would not do it. They would quote me a price of 500 pesos. They guy who I selected turned his meter on and the price to going to Alabang cost me only 250 pesos, or $5.

I can afford to pay $10 but the principle of treating everyone fairly is what I am after. I will write about my encounter with the girls at Starfleet and East Asia at later time since my time is up at this internet cafe. I had writter a previous post but could not post me on time since my time ran out.

Hey Sun Devil and others..

What makes you guys not just give what you know is a fair price for the taxi ride after you get out. If my driver doesn't turn on his meter, I just give him what I know is a fair price and leave, nobody ever chased me down, tell them to call the police then... anybody have any bad experiences doing this.. I'll be there next week.. see you all there.

After my excursion to Quezon City, the next day I attended the wedding of my cousin at this church in Ayala Alabang and we proceeded to have the reception dinner at the Bellevue. This lasted about 11 pm and members of the wedding party went up to the 20/20 Club where I noticed a couple of possible working girls. I figured they were working girls because they were talking to a couple of guys who were alone earlie, plus they had their gay pimp sitting between them.

The gay pimp then went to the bathroom and I followed him so that I could negotiate with him without offending the two guys. His price for them was 25,000 pesos! I couldn't believe. They were totally hot chicks but there is no way I am going to pay $500 when there is a plethora of good looking women in this city, all available at a lesser price.

Not being able to satisfy my urge, I suggested to a couple of guys at the wedding party to go to a massage parlor and one of them suggested Starfleet. We went to Starfleet and because it was already 3 am, we were given the discount price of 2000 pesos for a massage.

I chose number 15, Geenie, and, after giving her the 2000 peso tip, she gave me a really good and soapy Thai massage. I would recommend this girl if you like them slim with a nice size pair of breasts. The massage lasted a while and then we proceeded to do the deed on the wet plastic mattress on the shower floor, not the bed. Afterwards, she gave me her phone number and asked that I call her if I wanted to do any outcall services.

The next day I checked out from the Bellevue Hotel and travelled cross town to the Hyatt in Malate. This is a 5 star hotel in a somewhat dumpy neighborhood. The good thing about is that it is close to the LA Cafe and Mabini street, where there is a lot of available girls. I soon met up with Alfred, one of the guys working outside responsible for getting cabs for the guests. I asked him where I can get some good quality Filipino food and at a fair price and he suggested the Aristocrat.

In addition, I asked him where some quality working girls are available like those working at Pegasus and he mentioned East Asia. He said that he will be off soon and that he will follow me at the Aristocrat after work. When he met me at the Aristocrat, Alfred said that the higher class girls work at East Asia, which is just a couple of blocks away.

After finishing my meal, we went to East Asia, which resembles Mystic in Quezon City in decor and stage arrangement. After looking in the fishbowl, I chose a pretty 19 year old girl from Cebu, Chanel. The cost at this place for a girl to see with you and talk is 695 pesos, plus there is a cover charge of 500 pesos per person. The take out fee is 8000 pesos, which includes sex at your hotel.

This was all explained to me by Shyn, the manager at East Asia. After a couple of hours, I decided to take Chanel, who works there as a model, meaning she just models cocktail dresses on the stage instead of dancing, to my hotel at the Hyatt. The cost was 8000, plus the drinks and companionship hours that Alfred and I consumed at the place.

Being a generous person, I opted to pay for Alfred's portion of the bill, which included a couple of companionshp hours for him by a girl named Alex, a friend of Chanel, along with his orange juice. When I took Chanel back to my hotel, I forgot to tell the taxi driver to turn on the meter and he charged me 300 pesos to drive a couple of blocks. I didn't want to look cheap in front of Chanel so I paid that amount, but these drivers are such assholes to do this.

I took Chanel to my room and she stayed there for about 3 hours. The funny thing was that after performing oral sex on her, she literally exploded, with a small amount of fluid gushing from her vagina along with a popping sound like she farted from there. Aferwards, while we were changing, she told me that she should be the only girl that I go select at East Asia and she gave me her phone number. I told her that I could not do that since I like a variety of chicks, so when I escorted her down to the lobby, she was very quiet, almost sad. Oh well, c'est la vie.

I moved from the Hyatt to Trader's Hotel yesterday. Granted it is not a 5 star hotel like the Hyatt but Trader's is much more convenient to mongering since East Asia is just a walk away, plus they have an internet cafe in front called the Coffee.Com. The cost for 30 minutes is 85 pesos, plus they have coffee and snacks. Additionally, the view in front of the hotel is much nicer, with the convention center out front and the Baywalk as well.

For my 5th girl in Manila, I again went to East Asia. I had planned to go to Makati or Quezon City last night but the rain sort of gave me second thoughts. Being from Arizona, the rain that they are having right now is like a hurricane but of course it is the rainy season here, which is from June to August, like the US summer.

Anyway, with my umbrella in hand, I walked the couple of blocks to East Asia. Everyone seems to remember me from the night before. Shyn, one of the managers, came to my table and asked whether I wanted a girl to see at the fishbowl. We both went there and I chose a girl with a full figured girl named Divine (I love their working names here).

Divine works as a dancer but when she danced she did not take any of her clothes off. I guess this is an option for the girl. I think their motivation in taking their clothes is to entice some of the customers to barfine them or have them sit by the table so that they can make money. According to Divine, she makes about 300 pesos a night, which is less than $10!

We talked for about 2 hours because her personality was so great and as I was leaving Shyn told me that I can take Divine to one of the rooms for an in-call service for 4000 pesos. I jumped at this opportunity and was escorted to one of the side rooms. It has a queen sized mattress on the floor with no linen, in addition to a TV. Anyway, after doing the deed with Divine, I stayed until around 4:15 AM and walked back to my hotel. Divine gave me her phone number and told me to call her the next day.

God, it is so easy to score here! And these are some prime looking women I am scoring with. The hard part is choosing which girl to select.

I checked out of traders last week. it was originally a holidayinn. I stayed there on my very first night on my first ever night in Asia in 1989.
When i checked in last week and as they only had a smoking room avail in a reg floor they offered me a club floor at $30 extra per night ($38 incl taxes)as i had already a prepaid regular floor at an unbelievable lowrate off the jetstar website although i never flew with them. for the club floor i got 24/7 internet in my room, free breakfast, club lounge snacks between 2-4pm and 6-8pm and an exclusive restaurant for club members on the top floor.

Sounds like the barfine you describe is on the way up.Sounds like the fool and his money are soon parted.8 thousand barfine for shorttime thats unreal.I would never and have ever paid that kind of money in manila or makati.Even when the high tourist season is in play. This is rainy season not many guys over there now,why pay that kind of loot now.Sounds like the sillappines they raise the barfine now and lower it when the busy season gets here. They never use common sense over there that's why they will never be any better off than they are now over there.8000 peso's that's for short time (3hours) what the fuck are you guys thinking. You should of given or taken the number of a cell phone and called after work.I am sure you could of had the chick for 4-5 thousand for the night.Fuck giving the bar any money, do they let you drink for free???????????

Has anyone gone to Skyline massage parlor on Roxas Boulevard? I want to just verify that it is still at the Grand Hotel.

Bill, thanks for the advice. I will try to do that in the future but I have a budget of $200 per night for play so 8000 pesos was no big deal. Carlos Perez in Monterrey pretty much told me the same thing when I was in Mexico.

I followed the advice of Bill and asked for the girl's phone number so that I get her at my hotel for a discount early this morning (it is now 7 am in the PI). I called her at my hotel after I left East Asia and we made an arrangement for a rendezvous at 6 am.

Guess what, the girl did not show as planned and stood me up!! Maybe she broke a leg on her way to my hotel or had a date planned with another customer but she sure left me high and dry.

I sure save a lot of money by not going through the official channel. I also did not get to have sex with any girl. At least through the mamasan, even though it cost from 4000 to 8000 pesos, if the girl does not put out, at least the customer has recourses and can complain to her.

Luckily for me, I was able to locate the Skyline massage parlor prior to me going to East Asia. It is now called Mercury Massage and it is located on the 8th floor of the Grand Boulevard Hotel, next to the Aristocrat Restaurant, on Roxas Boulevard.

They are open 24/7 and, thanks to their hours, I won't be detered from my goal of having a different girl each day I am in the PI.

I know you must be creative when passing out your number. You can put the number on some 20 notes and tell the gal it is there and that way no one is the wiser.Try sitting at Matrix on P burgos street,The amount of gals going in and out of the bars is unreal. They are all around after 2-3 am when work gets done.If they were unlucky at the bar they will be glad to take 500-1000 peso's for the rest of the night. Most all hit the 7-11 and the filling station restaurant for some chow before getting a cab for home. The area is busy from 8-pm until daylight and Matrix has ok food at a good price."SHRIMP SCAMPIE FOR 3 BUCKS".REMEMBER there are lots of bakla "billy boys"around the area in drag so be on alert.

You will also get some street guys wanting you to pay them for gals. This is OK just make sure they look old enough and never pay what they want.500 is plenty for what they do I would give 2-3 hundred If it was me.

Just buy a soda or other beverage and watch the show.I never had any problems outside there and you will get lots of attention for sure.

Have fun and keep the prices down.

After my fiasco of getting a girl to my hotel room after hours, I decided to go to Mercury Massage (formerly Skyline) at the Grand Boulevard Hotel, which is just a couple of blocks from the Traders Hotel. The prices are 1,200 pesos for a massage between 6 am to 6 pm, and 1400 pesos between 6 pm to 6 am.

There were some doable girls at the place and I chose Cherry, a new girl from Bacolod. For a new girl, her skills at massaging was fairly good, especially considering I had worked out my chest and back the day before.

Because I was still pissed from my experience at East Asia, when she asked for a 2,000 peso tip prior to giving extra services, i.e. oral and vaginal sex, I countered with 1,000 pesos. She tried to lower the price a couple of times, ranging from 1,300 to 1,500 pesos, but I would not budge. Consequently, she agreed to the price, thus I only paid 2,200 pesos for massage and sex.

In hindsight, it was not Cherry's fault that I got stood up, but being screwed so many times by various local people finally got to me.

Many people in this forum will suggest ways of saving a few pesos here or there and their advise is generally sound. However, be careful when trying to save money on pussy. Buying "street puss" at 200-300 pesos (1/10th the going rate) is risky (disease, robbery, etc.). If I was you, I would stick with the proven venues and pay a little bit more than what you would pay for street puss. You'll be much safer and like you said, you have recourse if the girl rips you off or leaves you hanging.

The babae can tell who knows the scene and who is a clueless sex tourist fresh off the jet. Unlike some who will gladly pay 2500 pisos PLUS TIP for two hours with a Filipina with a body reminescent of American women (see Dannah Mae folder), better looking girls can be had for way less than half of that if you avoid places mainly patronized by foreigners and if you BARGAIN. The girls will take all your money if you let them, but they respect you more if you know enough to bargain. This applies to EVERYTHING in the PI. Those who just accept the first offer really do "pay too much" but you don't need to be one of them Sun Devil. Bill Buxton is right that most hookers and mamasans will rip you off IF YOU LET THEM!

East Asia and all those Roxas places except Visions are clip joints praying on the clueless (of which there are many including some here on this forum dispensing advice). Go to fleece joints expect to be fleeced. Even EDSA complex is much better than those Roxas ripoffs. But if you insist on spending $200 per day on women then go to Pegasus and get a real stunner!

If you are a bit adventurous, I also urge you to get away from Manila to get GFE at much better prices than in Makati/Manila and to have a more authentic Philippine experience.

there is a happy middle ground between bottom of the barrell skanks and overpriced prima donnas.

I disagree with Guinness that there is ONE "going rate"; IMHO there are SEVERAL rates. EVERYTHING is subject to negotiation, and the "going rate" you will be charged depends largely on their perception of your ABILITY TO PAY. Being a foreigner you are ALREADY marked as "rich and foolish", but you can minimize the "foolish" part by doing research and avoiding notorious clip joints (e.g. East Asia), dressing nice but not over the top (leave the bling at home!), learning at least a few key Tagalog phrases like machado mahal (too expensive), and, most importantly, do NOT appear too eager or anxious for a particular girl. Also, if you stay in 5 star hotels, the girls will often expect to be paid more thinking you ae a big spender.

Play it cool and be patient, and SMILE when you bargain (raising your voice or getting forceful will merely cause them to lose any respect for you they might have otherwise had), and they will reduce their price 95% of the time.

IMHO, a savy monger can find that fine line between being "cheap" (koriput) and being "foolish" (bobo) and thus maximize quality pekpek for your pera ($).

Finally, I am happy to see that Guinness has FINALLY realized that members can disagree and express divergent opinions without resorting to juevenile namecalling and slander. Let us hope his epiphany is not merely temporary.

I'm not sure how this comes up. I never mention prices beforehand and the girls in the PI have never mentioned it to me either. It spoils the mood and I'm only going to pay what I want to pay anyway. And usually I'm generous as I want both of us to have a good time. If anyone did mention prices, I would drop them immediately. The prices in PI are so low anyway that who cares. Whats the upside to haggling? None that I can see.

I've never gone to those high priced KTV places on Roxas and probably never will. EDSA is just fine with a 1K barfine.

Usually I stay in Makati and then its a short 7-10 minute taxi ride to EDSA. The meter must be turned on and seldom costs more than 80 peso. If they don't want to turn it on, I open the door even though we're moving. At that point they either put the meter on or they pull over real fast. If they really [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) me off, I'll get out and leave the door open. Then they have to get out to close it. I never worry about their being a confrontation over this because it will never happen. They know they have been caught trying to rip me off and dont have a leg to stand on. Within a minute or two, I'm in the next cab.

Which brings me to that never ending topic......five-star hotels.

The girls never look for more money because you are at a five star hotel and are thus considered 'rich' or 'foolish' or a 'dumb sex tourist'. That smacks of an adversarial situation. I've had a few difficult situations but infrequently. More often, they are happy to be there and I'm happy to have them. But the great thing about staying at a good hotel with a good lobby and pool is that it becomes a destination in and of itself. When I call internet girls we always meet in the hotel lobby. They are eager to come there, and I sure as hell am not going to taxi out to the sticks. Also, if you have had a great time with a barfine which sometimes happens, you can keep her around and have her bring her friends over. Several times, I've had a barfine and her friends come over and frolic in the pool which can be great fun and then take one of them up to your room if so inclined. So its not just about the nightly rate. There's other things to consider.

I will be in town Sunday and the negotiation style each uses is there own.Be nice and like others said here never pay what they want.

"Pegasus" where is this place????????What is the barfine there and when you say stunner how much for how long.

I have had bad service for a c-note and great service for 20 dollars so go figure.

Anything you do to stand out here is just gonna cost you money,The 5 star hotel deal is right on.They will figure you can afford it so lets charge him this much. You gotta give these gals credit they try all the time, some times they score big, and sometimes WE hit paydirt. The art of the deal.

Just always remember they all think we just got off the stupid boat and will try to take all they can...

Hi,

I have never been to the philipines but have been talking with a girl who lives in Batangas, 60 miles south of Manila, for a year and a half now and was looking advice from someone who knows the area people very well.

My questions are essetially about local politics, and social norms, not about mongering. I dont think she is a working girl but I have my suspicions. I am considering visting her, but I have heard horror stories of stupid tourists being scamed, arrested, or murdered. Over the past year a lot of things have been said to set off my scam-radar.

Don & Guinness: You see we CAN interact, and even disagree, while maintaining decorum and civility. I am sure Jackson will be THRILLED!

I used to do very well at EDSA Don, and we agree on the Roxas clip joints. It has been 2 years since I was there but my friend who goes every other month (he lives in BKK so he KNOWS the scene) says that roundeye customers are getting rarer and rarer and that the Japanese are the dominant client base nowadays. Have you noticed an increase in Japanese customers at EDSA?

BB: Pegasus is in Quezon City and is home of the "Peggy Sues", among the very elite of Filipina GROs. It is SO upscale you MUST weat a suit jacket to enter (though sometimes they will lend you one). My recollection was BFs were like 8,000-10,000 but that was many years ago and I did not partake. I doubt it would be your kind of place but guys with money to burn (like SunDevil) might enjoy it.

Its true. I couldn't help noticing it a few weeks ago. I was in Samba, Cotton Club and Firehouse, and on several different occasions. In each bar the clientele was about eighty percent asian.

Even back in the 90s there was always that Japanese karaoke off to the side of the EDSA complex. I assume 99% of their clients are Japanese but I never went to verify it. Where numbers of Japanese men go, prices inexorably increase.

You mentioned 1,000Piso BF at EDSA and my recall was that it was 600P just two years ago (but I could be mistaken and that might have been farther back).
Cotton Club always charged a premium for the girls in the pink cowboy outfits and hats, but I never thought they were any better looking than the regulars.

Last time I paid a barfine at Edsa was Jan 2005 and it was 1000 then.
A lot of girls who dont get bf'ed at Edsa normally end up at LA Cafe at 2-3am and their rate really comes down then.
Was in Blue Nile in AC last night and that bar could fit in at Edsa, so many woman and mostly all maganda. Tis a pity as im on a two week date and my butterfly instints will have to wait until i get to BKK.
Why is it when u r with somebody you find so many woman u could easily pay the barfine but when with noone you struggle to find a adequate barfine sometimes.

Sun Devil,

IMHO you have way overpaid for the services. 8,000 pesos for short time ( 3 hours ) and to this you still have to add the entrance fee of 500 pesos and the 695 pesos conversation fee = over 9,000 pesos!

You say you stayed at the Hyatt which is near LA Cafe but don't say anything about going there. You can get an 8 or 9 for overnight for 1,500 to 2,000 pesos.

The price you paid for Skyline ( now Mercury ) is about right as the going rate to the girl for extra is about the same as the room rate and this is what you paid = 1,100 pesos for the room plus 1,100 pesos for the girl.

We finally have a sunny day in Manila and it looks like I will try to head out to the top two massage parlors here--Air Force One and Starfleet and Paranaque due to the nice weather.

Apparently, the Japanese have some investments on Roxas Boulevard because there is a hotel next to mine that caters to Japanenese tourists as indictated by some Filipinos here.

Is this info from the girl or from independent sources? I will be going to Batangas just for fun later this month (a women where I work is from there so I will look up some of her relatives while scoping out the area). It is supposed to have some nice beaches and resorts. I think my co-worker would have warned me if there were numerous tourist murders occuring. If you have any worries just make her take a bus to meet you in Manila. Scams are everywhere in the Phils, but are no problem if you are half-way alert. Just go meet her.

On my recent trip, I rented a car and driver and went with an internet girl on a day trip to Batangas. We were trying to locate a dive resort in Anilao which I think is in the city/province?? of Batangas. Well, we drove for hours and couldn't locate the place. The are looked rough. At one point we traveled several miles on a small road which skirted the sea. There was trash everywhere; small houses hugging the coastline and a lot of trash in the adjacent water.

We did manage to locate an area which had a few 'resorts'. I can't remember the name of the town but these resorts had really awful facilities and the sand resembled dust. I can't imagine any westerner wanting to stay there.

We covered a lot of ground and I didn't see anything worth visiting. This echoed my experience on another trip where I likewise hired a car/driver and went with an internet girl to Tagatay and Lake Taal which is closeby Batangas and which we traversed. Nothing there but poor people eking out a living and overpopulated.

BTW, in an earlier post, I asked if you make travel arrangements rather than just providing info, but I didn't hear back from you and when I pm'd you your box was full. I'm sure there are other people here besides myself who would avail of your services.

The KTV with the prettiest selection. But definitely the most expensive. I went there “solo flight” and ended up with a P10,000 tab! However, the GRO I got (her stage name was Rain) was an 18-year old student, drop-dead gorgeous with lovely almond-shaped eyes, long legs, soft lips, a smooth ivory-toned body with the curves to boot. Her service also was fantastic and the stuff of fantasies.

Typically, the GROs (or Peggy Sues) follow a three-tiered cost. Standard is P1100/hour. Models are P1200/hour. Centerfold is P1500/hour. Needless to say, centerfolds are the prettiest but they also have the tendency to be choosy on who they provide “extra service” to. Best to check with the GRM on the attitude. Extra service is typically P5000 but you have to cover for the girl’s two-hour minimum. Bar fine is typically P15,000 to P20,000.

Rooms are pretty standard with a comfortable couch, karaoke TV, coffee table. Minimum rate is P3000.

Finrod,

I don't want to discourage you from going to Lake Taal. You just need a driver that knows the area.

Near the lake, the road climbs up into a mountainous area with nice views and hotels. Its a little cooler there and quite nice. Now we had planned on going to the place where you can get a banca out to the volcano which apparently is in the middle of the lake but at that point, our driver got lost. We spent about two hours on a dirt road alongside the lake, where the fishermen live and work, bouncing up and down, and by the time we got back on a driveable road, it was time to go home.

My driver also got lost on the recent trip to Anilao despite assuring me that he knew the place, so at this point I don't know about these day trips. Maybe its better to let the hotel arrange it even though it will be more expensive.

Excellent info. Thanks! I am fortunate in that my connections there are good and that, of course, is always the best way to get to know an area. I knew there were some resorts, but I didn't realize how many and that they were all upscale.
On another tack, what is the danger there from typhoons? I am not worried about my trip, but I am interested to know if these beach-front resorts get periodically wiped out or if their southern exposure keeps them out of most of the trouble from storm surge.

I visited Air Force One and Starfleet yesterday. Prior to that I also went to the Mall of Asia, purportedly the biggest one in the continent and hoping to scan some semi-pros or at least buy some nice shoes or clothes. However, while the mall was big enough, I did not see anybody worth chasing plus there were no Rustan in the place.

I then took a taxi from there to Paranaque. On the way, I saw some of the most dipilated houses and neighborhoods when the driver took a short cut. Took some pictures to show my friends in the US to prove how poor life is in the PI for the regular people.

Air Force One costs 1200 for a 90 minute massage from 1 pm to 7 pm. I checked Starfleet prior to going to Air Force One but the girls that they had were not good looking enough and the only that was I already had last year.

At Air Force One, I chose a 19 year old student who is studying business at the University of Manila. It was her 4th day and I was her 6th customer. I joked that, since her tag was D-4, they chose their tag numbers based on the number of days they have been working at the place and I wanted to see how bedraggled number D-100 looked.

As befitting a girl with lack of experience, she was super tight, which is a good thing. Luckily, since I have been on a rampage with girls, I was able to last fairly long with her, in spite of her tight pussy. In addition, her bubbly personality was a plus, and so we passed over the time limit without realizing it.

My session with her lasted for 2 hours. We had a call from management to indicate that this indeed was the time and I told them that they should have called earlier because there was no clock in the room, the girl did not have a watch, and that I did not know the time when we first started. The manager then asked if he could talk with the girl.

Apparently, during the conversation, she was informed that the over the 90 minute limit was going to be taken from her. Feeling sorry for her, I volunteered to pay for her sake and gave management 600 pesos but warned them that they should call when the time was up, not rely on the girl to inform the customer about it since that would be a turn off. No monger likes a clock watcher.

Peakview:

The price of 1,200 pesos I quoted is the massage only. It is a given that, if you want full service, the cost will be the same amount as the massage. So, in this case, the tip for full service was 1200 pesos. The total for me was 2400 pesos, an amount less than $50.

The reason for the 1,200 pesos costs was it was a promo due to the early hours. After 7 pm, the cost will jump to 2,000 pesos, plus a 2,000 pesos tip for full service. So, it will be a total of 40,000 pesos for full service and massage after 7 pm, a price of $80.

I am finding the location of the Traders Hotel will soon make it as my place of stay here in the PI in the future. There is a plethora of KTVs on Roxas Blvd. Last night, I went to the Asia Entertainment complex, which is near Victory Hill and Flamingo, and just past the Heritage Hotel.

When I got in, I saw a 5'11 model being escorted out by her American client. Just my luck, I certainly would have picked her if she was available. I find out from one of the mamasans, they are called floor managers here in the PI, that the client is from Illinois. Anyway, the cost for this place is a tad bit higher than that of East Asia. It costs 800+ for an hour of conversation with the girls, 500 pesos for an entrance fee, and 10,000 pesos for barfine.

I chose a girl from Leyte, named Michelle, but her actual name is Derosa, and made an arrangement with the manager for an all nighter until 10 am with her at my hotel. I paid the 10,000 pesos and took her back to Traders. Unfortunately, she started getting nervous and would not put out once we were in the room (maybe she because she saw my penis).

Since I went throught the official channel, I called the floor manager to complain about Michelle's change of heart and the floor manager had a talk with Michelle over the phone. The floor manager then talked to me and indicated that Michelle should be okay. As soos as I hung up, Michelle reverted back to her original attitude and almost started to cry. She pleaded mercy that she would be docked a 10,000 peso penalty and that she might not be able to work in Asia Entertainment again.

Because of various occasssions of being cheated by the locals, I told Michelle that we were going back to Asia Entertainment immediately. I got dressed (Michelle did not take any of her clothes off) and when we got back to the KTV, I demanded my 10,000 pesos back from the floor manager.

Unfortunately, because I had used my credit card, she could not return my money and cash and pleaded that I choose another girl. I then went back to the fishbowl, while Michelle slowly walked back to the locker room to change. I chose a girl by the name of Rain, and she provided a GFE, included BBJ and DFK.

The surprising thing was that Rain did not lose her virginity until January 13, 2006, at the age of 18 (she is 19 years old now), and from a client in Puerta Gallera. I guess women remember the exact date of their first time. I certainly don't with mine, only the age of when I lost it. Rain stayed until 9 this morning and she is highly recommended. She is number 110 at the place. You would recognize during her fully nude dance, she is the one dancing in the middle of the stage with the tight body.

Sorry for the 20 questions but just curious as I only went to a KTV once thinking them aimed at Asian clients who like to smoke and sing karaoke and play Mr. Bigshot buying bottles of Johny Walker at ridiclous prices.

The 10,000 pesos at Asian Entertainment is for an all-inclusive all nighter without tip. You should see the amount of people bar-fining these girls. I would say that by the time I left the joint I've seen about 20 women being barfined. I guess you got a bunch of rich foreign guys doing this, mostly Korean and Japanese tourists.

The girl Rain that I chose after Michelle was as good looking. It is really hard to choose the girl at the showroom because they are equally good looking.

Instead of going to East Asia or Asian Entertainment, I went to Cafe Malizia last night and chose a girl named Alicia, another 19 year old. I think this is the average girl at the KTVs because, according to the floor manager who I talked to, a number of these girls are working students and are financing their studies by working at these places.

This girl was a petite hard body who has been dancing since the age of 5. The cost was 6,000 pesos at the uptair VIP room, including snacks, my and her drinks, entrance fee, for about two hours. It was kind of nice having sex with this chick while another group was doing karaoke next door. DFK and BBBJ were included.

I can't believe that my gas still running here in the PI. I guess the fear of not having any chick for the next 4 weeks while working back in the US is motivating me to just continue seeing different women on a daily basis, regardless of the price. I am not the type to buy things just for the hell of it in the US, plus I make a six-figure income while still a bachelor with no kids, so overpaying is no big deal for me.

Like I said before, my daily budget is $200 on this trip. With regards to charity, at least I know who I am giving my money to, not just a institution with members who might be stealing the money for themselves. I am just a guy trying to buy new experience on a nightly basis because my existence in the US is so boring. The blandness of life in the US is unbelievable, especially in an uncultured region like the US Southwest. I can't even look forward to the up-coming NFL season because the team we have in town has been historically so bad.

I don't think I am ruining the market because there are different working girl establishments here. There are the KTVs geared toward Asian businessmen and tourists. Then you have the KTVs geared toward the local guys. After that, you have the Burgos street places and EDSA Entertainment complex geared toward Caucasian tastes, then the LA Cafe and Cafe Havana free lancers. Plus, if you want, there are massage parlors all ove the city, some associated with KTVs like Heartbeat and Pegasus.

The Batangas resorts generally are hit by the same typhoons that hit Manila,But Batangas location and orientation shelters them somewhat.

Sun Devil, your posts are intriguing and breathtakingly honest. I feel like I'm there with you. Bon appetit!

I'd like to ask some questions:

My theory that a pussy is a pussy is a pussy it suspect now, depending on you answer:

Are these 10K peso girls intelligent? Educated? Can they hold a conversation?

For ex: I routinely barfine girls from EDSA. The sex is great but rarely does the relationship extend beyond a couple of days because their english is limited and they don't know anything and have even less interest in learning anything. So do these high priced girls you take from the KTV places know the difference between Cabernet and Merlot or IMF and ISG? If for no other reason than to make a monger feel inclined to bang the girl for an extra day or two, or month, or more? Are they all college girls?

And were is this Asian Entertainment Center?

I enjoy returning to the well (EDSA) but do harbor perhaps a self-defeating wish to meet a filip who is interesting in and out of bed.

In no way, should be this taken as a criticism of filipinas. Taken in its totality, I think they're the best. But............sex, dinner at a fine restaurant; more sex; wine; good conversation; more sex. Well, maybe this is just a dream.

Have you done EDSA? Burgos? How do they compare? I'm interested in the educational level of these girls that you are covorting with?

I went here the first weekend I was in town. What eye candy! Sheesh! My eyes were bulging. 600pp per hour to sit with a girl. Barfine was 6000pp. I think the entry was 400pp. Plus drinks and food. My total tab ran over 10000pp that night. Do not pick #113, very beautiful for a 19 year old limp fish. So little chemistry that she left in the morning without asking for tip.

About the location, I was brought there, it was raining hard that night so my memory is rather vague on that. Sorry.

Overall Rating: 9/10
Attractiveness of staff: My Chinese girl 9/10,my Cebu girl 7/10. All girls 7-9/10.
Quality of service: 9/10
What's special: Threesomes in a really luxurious place.

*** On AF1

When I had been to Manila two years ago, AF1 was supposed to be the most upmarket KTV in Manila. Given that Manila generally seemd to be less developped than BKK, I was certainly surprised about AF1 - is looks more modern than even Poseidon or Utopia in BKK and feels very luxurious. It even had it's own, branded toileteries.

*** How to get there

It's adress is 888 Ninoy Aquino Ave., Paranaque. Air Force One is located along the airport road in Paranaque. If you are coming from the airport, drive towards Sucat, past Dampa, right side.

*** An alternative way of getting there

I was staying in the Penisula Manila in Makati. I was taking one of the hotel taxis to the AF1, so the valet asked me where I wanted to go to pass that information to the taxi driver. I must admit I was slighly hesitant to tell him I was planning to go to a KTV - however, he told me he thought the AF1 was an excellent choice. All this while an American couple listened, but probaly could not really decode what we were talking about. The trip by taxi took about 1/2h.

*** Choices and prices

The AF1 has a fishtank, which is normally shielded by a curtain. One of the papasans will politely ask you to sit down, then will have the curtain opened and will advise you about the menu. The menu contains different grades of rooms and either one or two (or maybe more) girls. I had made up my mind that I wanted to have a threesome that evening and 'couples' which were confortable with that.

As I opted for a threesome and it was early afternoon, the papasan threw in a (supposedly larger) business class room for free. The total damage for the room was 1800, 200 for the papasan advise plus 500 for drinks and tips for the waitress. The prices does cover the room, the massages but it does not cover extras - you will negotiate those with your company on your room.

*** The girls and prices continued

After the went to the room, we chatted an bit. One of my girls said she was a Manila native. She had very fair skin, to me looked Chinese and turned out to be the more active of the two. I was lucky in that sense: she was not only more active, she was also prettier - when she undressed, she revealed a great body and a fabulous pair of breasts. She was still Asian and petite, but big enough to have slightly larger breasts that an average Asian girl. The second girl turned out to be from Cebu, darker skin, the more shy of the two. She was also slighly shorter and had smaller breasts. Maybe she was shy because she felt less pretty - that would not be uncommon for a darker skinned Asian girl.

We negotiated the extras and settled for 6000. Yes, I know it's all on the expensive side. But then it was a threesome in one of the better places in SEA...

*** Wet foreplay

The one thing I do like more about Thai places is that they all have tubs, some have jacuzzis. The AF1 has showers. Larger showers that did fit us three, but it's still showers.

The two showered with me and made sure that they gave my privates a thorough cleaning. It was fun, but less so than a bath at a Thai place.

*** Playing with the two

We went to the bed after the shower and it was clear at the time that the Chinese gal was the more active. We had some foreplay, then the Chinese gal wanted to start with a CBJ - I told her I was disappointed and was expecting a BBBJ. She aked me why, I told her that it certainly felt a lot better and that I was sure she wanted to make me feel good; she inspected my parts, seemed to be convinced they were neat enough and started to give a BBBJ. I later switched to the Cebu gal - while she looked a little bit older, she did not match the Chinese's skills - so it was back to the Chinese gal.

I later switched to have a CFJ withe the Chinese gal. The Cebu gal did try to massage my neck - she really could have tried different things but it was clear that she was a bit shy. I really like it when girls do surprise me, and I hate explaining girls what to do at a threesome. Either they intuitively do the right thing, or I prefer to focus on the better girl - which is why I did.

*** After the session

We all took a shower again after the session. I did not have a CFJ with the Cebu girl. She sort of excused herself and made sure she washed me. I thought this was a very nice touch indeed - still, the Chinese gal was better.

*** In summary

In summary, I believe that both the Peninsula and the AF1 have earned their reputation as the best places in town. If you want to splurge, I would recommed both places. The best thing though would be the Chinese gal, a more uninhibited partner for a LT in the Pen. That's still a thing to go for.

Hey guys,

What are some good places to get some action to during the daytime?

LoveAsianWhores

Forgive me, but I had to blink at the 10,000 Peso price! I sincerely hope that it is a typing mistake and you meant 1,000 Peso. If it really was 10,000 Peso then please give 9,000 to charity and pay the actual market price of 1,000 for the action! Gross overpaying ruins the market for others and the girls have a big laugh behind the back of the Mr. Big Spender.

8,000 to 10,000 P is the standard barfine for Roxas KTV joints (but can be negotiated slightly downward). The girls are generally more beautiful and charming then the EDSA and burgoss bars. Too expensive for me, but I would certainly be a regular if I was rich. Mostly frequented by Japanese, Korean and Chinese, with the occasional caucasian with money to burn. To many, all pussy is alike, but to the pussy connoisseur, there is certainly a difference.

This 7/29 post has already been answered. Walking around EDSA EC and Copacobana is generally safe, but not much reason to stroll around at night. I'll add three things.

1) The most dangerous thing here, by far, is walking across EDSA from the hotel to the bars. I guess you could walk to the light or catch a cab if you aren't a fast runner.
2) During the day walk several blocks in a direction opposite to the front of the hotel and you will find an interesting market area. The effects of jet lag (Detroit / Tokyo) has turned my brain to mush and I can't remember the name of the area/market, but it's an interesting place. I can almost guarantee you'll be the only foreigner there.
3) Don't take a camera to EDSA EC unless you feel comfortable allowing it to be checked in with the security guards out front.*

* I bet those security guards have some interesting stories to tell.

Guys,

Is the EDSA complex area safe? I'm gonna be staying at the Copacaban by myself for a few nights before I meet up w/ a few friends, and was wondering if it was safe to walk around those streets at night.

General question about the clubs:

Do any clubs/bars/casas cater to a specific tastes in bodytype?

I'm not too into the really slender, thin type of girl with no curves.

I like thick girls(not fat) with nice curves, big firm ass, overall hard body(I guess you can say muscular---but NOT like a female bodybuilder, more like a fitness chick).

Are there any specific places I should go to for my tastes?

4 Madonna songs in a row, followed by a Cher song.

That's what Firehouse in the EDSA Complex inflicted on me last night. No wonder the place was almost empty. Then again on a Monday night most of the other places were pretty deserted also. Lots of tasty dishes were on offer. But since I had spent all afternoon and evening with my internet chat girl I was just looking to relax and hear some music, thus my ultrasensitivity to the tunes issue. But there does seem to be a lazy trend among the DJs in these places to pop in a music video and just let the same group's songs play for half an hour. Some other bars were playing stuff that I like but again it was the same group's songs consecutively.

Earlier I went to LA Cafe, which was neither here nor there as far as girl selection. Then I looked at Amazonia, which didn't have many freelancers but the waitresses were pretty cute.

Finally, I ended up back at Cafe Havana in Greenbelt (should put this in Makati but I can't be bothered). I was just there to pick up some cigars but I spotted several attractive possibilities. I ended up dancing Latin music with one girl (put that Colombia Salsa experience to good use). I eventually took her home to the Dusit with me and it ended up a freeby since she left in the early AM without asking for anything.

A Primer on the Night Clubbing Scene in the Philippines

I will deal with the scene in Metropolitan Manila area, as it includes the biggest range and number of clubs. Let us break down the night club scene into several categories:

1. Go-go Clubs
2. KTV Clubs
3. Full Night Clubs

The Go-go club scene usually feature the girls that dance on stage and walk around the club in 2-piece bikinis. Considered the low-end by locals, the girls are more dark-skinned, "exotic" types preferred by caucasian visitors. These clubs include Vixen (along Roxas Blvd), the EDSA complex (Roxas Blvd and EDSA Ave), and the clubs along P. Burgos St. and Makati Ave. in Makati City. The normal SOP is mid-priced drinks (P150-250), barfines asked P2-3,000. Girls might even ask for tips. Mostly non-local customers. I will not dwell further on this scene.

The KTV Clubs can feature private VIP rooms and maybe a Den/Lounge area, which might or might not have a stage for shows. The majority of KTV clubs will not feature nude shows or even have shows at all. Guests come in, get a VIP room, look at the showroom/fishbowl and select the girl(s) to sit with them. As you enter the club, you will be asked for your preferred FM/GRM (Floor Manager/Guest Relations Manager), or will be assigned one if you dont have one. Note that all requests for "Extras" are to be coursed through your FM/GRM, who can help you select the right lady who "Will". Inside the room, you can sing, drink, smoke, and bullshit with the girls. When the girl sits with you, there is an hourly Sitting Fee, called the Table Charge. The chemistry between you and the girl will affect your experience.

Full Night clubs will feature shows. They could include modelling shows, bikini dancers, topless dancers, and full strip performers. There are also non-showgirls, called GRO (Guest Relations Officer). All of the girls in the club are available to sit with you for an hourly fee. Full Night clubs also feature VIP rooms where you have a Karaoke Machine in-room. This feature allows your group to have private singing, relaxing, fun times. These clubs also have a big stage and sitting area for the majority of patrons who want to watch the shows. Like the KTV clubs, you will be dealing with a FM/GRM.

Note that some KTV/Night clubs could have a minimum charge for the VIP room (some don't) and it depends on the room size. Ask your FM/GRM beforehand, and if the minimum charge is consumable. Consumable means it includes tha ladies' hourly Table Fee, drinks and food you order. Minimum charge means that if you have not spent that much, you will have to pay the minimum charge. Rest assured that you will most likely exceed that amount. Important things to note: Tip your wait staff well (P100 is good, P200 is very good). If your FM/GRM treats you well, and recommends the right company, give him/her P300-P500. The FM/GRM will always give you their business card. Keep it.

2nd Tier clubs include Mystique, Stardust, Queens Castle, Eve's Venom (in Quezon City); East Asia, Dynasty Real (Roxas Blvd, Manila & Parañaque); Miss Universal (Libertad St, Pasay City). These are full night clubs with 40-180 girls, about half are GROs and half of them are showgirls. The table charge for GROs are normally less than the showgirl/model. The most expensive are the Solo/Starlet strippers. Table charge (hourly) for GRO (P400-600), showgirls (P500-750). Of the above named clubs, East Asia is the most expensive, Mystique & Miss Universal has the most girls. You might be able to do the deed in-room, but the norm is barfine. Which is the girl leaving for the night with you for "whatever" in your hotel room. Make sure you agree beforehand it is overnight (girl leaves in the morning) and not a short-time deal. Barfines here will range from P6,000-P9,000.

Top-Tier clubs include Pegasus, Heartbeat, Classmates (in Quezon City); Infiniti (Roxas Blvd); Pharaoh (Makati); Air Force-1 (Parañaque). These are mostly the KTV oriented clubs, and minimal shows ... although Heartbeat, Classmates & Heartbeat do feature more shows now than before. The best lookers in my own opinion can be found at Heartbeat, Classmates, and Air Force-1. Pegasus has the best and plushiest couches and amenities, and used to have the best looking women. Alas, these last 3 years, I feel disappointed at the quality. The most expensive of these are Pegasus and Classmates (P1,000-P1,300/hr table charge), the least Heartbeat (P750/hr). Barfine will range from P8,000 - P14,000 depending on the club and the lady in question.

Extra Services: Though the terms may vary (TX, Termination, MI, Mission Impossible, etc) you can do the deed In-Room at these clubs. You have to arrange for this with the FM/GRM, who will let you know who is willing to do the deed. You will be charged a one-hour fee for a private room for your personal use (aside from your group's VIP room) usually for around P3,000. There is the lady's fee for the service which could range from P2,000-P4,000. You are also expected to table her for one hor before, and one hour after the deed. The hour you do the deed has no table charge (as it is included in the TX Fee). If you are really lucky, you might even get a freebie, hahahaha. My personal preference is not to do the deed in-room, but in my hotel room, where we can have more time and amenities.

You don't have to barfine the lady you fancy. Some of them will not TX or barfine at all, but can be persuaded to have a brief affair with you (for free or for pay) provided you are discrete, as she does not want anyone in the club to know she will. If this is the case, zip your mouth after the deed, so you can enjoy it again. Many guys prefer the courting route, as it gives a semblance of romance, and more of a GFE (girlfriend experience) and short term affair. It also gives the girl a feeling of not selling her body, as she gives you sex with a bit of affection, and you provide her with cash for her needs, as a lover/boyfriend will do. This is the oriental mindset.

Hope this helps those who keep asking how much, how do I do, what is there, etc - both local and our worldwide friends.

I have signed on to ISG for over a year but this is my first post after living in Thailand for 3 years and now China for over a year and a half. I have been to Manila 4 times and I am going this weekend for my 5th. I am very familiar with the usual places in Ermita such as LA Cafe and Amazonia and not a fan of KTV as I get too much of it in China. I also am a frequent visitor to EDSA My question is does anyone know any good night clubs/Discos to go to with or without a gril that play either Techno/House Music or Latin Music as I dont like Hip Hop? Also, what are some of the better places to go in Makati now adays?

Thanks for the info.

There's a club called Embassy, its one of the nicer clubs in Manila from my understanding. Saturday nights they play trance/house. Not as many ladies as guys when i was there on a saturday on the main floor, the VIP was about a 1 to 1 ratio. One of the owners is a friend of a friend, he told me much more girls on Friday (when they play hip hop).

As for where it is. I'm honestly not sure :) I would guess in Makati somewhere, but i can find out if needed.

There's a club I know is in Makati called Absynth that plays trance, but its a much much smaller place, really more of a bar than a club.

Hey guys,

Is $49/night normal for the Copacabana during the low season?

Because if so, I would rather stay at the Hyatt Regency for $72/night(although they do charge $20 to bring a girl in from what I hear).

I believe Embassy is at the Fort which is close to the Makati area. One other place to try is Nirvana on Taft and Buendia. They have dancers with numbers and it is a disco. However there are VIP rooms in the back but I am not sure of the prices.

I'm assuming anything goes in the VIP rooms. But, the few times I've been there we just hung out and danced a little--just like a nightclub. In fact, it wasn't until the 3rd time I was there that I even noticed the VIP rooms because this place is huge.

But that includes BVAT I think, whereas the $72 at Hyatt is likely ++ (VAT + service charge of 10%). VAT & service charge also apply to guest fee.

SO true what the guy said about the biggest danger being crossing EDSA to get to the complex! The first half is scarier as once you get to the medianm the WESTBOUND traffic is often backed up approaching the Roxas traffic light.

EDSA is ALMOST like crossing Avenida Atlantica in the REAL Copacabana; no pederstrian right of way in either country, though Rio traffic moves faster than Manila traffic.

Flew to Manila with a few friends who had never been there friday. Stayed at Hotel Niko (The Dusit Hotel). Decided to take them to the EDSA complex friday night after a few hours of free drinks at the 16th floor executive lounge. After teaching them the ropes we explored a few bars and ended up at the first bar on the right when you walk in (sorry, I was half drunk so I don't remember the name, but it's the one where they wear black and white checkerd tops).

After a few drinks and getting my friends situated with the women they wanted, I was looking for something I could try to break in half. I piicked Mai Mai who was one of the smallest girls in there. We talked for a little while and I decided to take her back to the hotel with me. After showers, we got in the bed and she proceded to a BBBJ. She constantly looked up at me to make sure I was enjoying it. After about 10 minutes I was tired of the BJ and ready to just start my mission. I pounded this girl in every imaginable position for over a hour. What ever I wanted to do she was up to. After reaching pure exhaustion and soaking wet with sweat, I exploded. She got up after a few minutes, washed off, brought me a warm towel and layed her head on me and fell asleep. This girl was a real trooper. The next morning she woke me up and started with another BBBJ. After another session we took a shower together and got dressed.

A few reminder tips for anyone going to EDSA for the first time:

1. Don't use the services of the people outside of EDSA for ANYTHING. They will try to walk you into the bar, get a cab for you, take you to other bars, sell you things etc. and they all want tips.

2. Never tell anyone it is your first time there. They were trying to charge my friends $3500 to $4500 pesos for LT when they found out it was their first time. I would not let them pay more than $2000 pesos. Only one friend had a girl that would not accept that and I took him in another bar for 5 minutes and found him another girl that he liked for $2000 pesos LT.

3. Don't be afraid to walk into the bars look around and walk out. I usually walk into each bar, stand right in front of the stage, and look at the girls to see if I see anything I like. If I don't see anything, I walk out and go to the next bar.

My fellow mongerers,

I have an upcoming trip to the PI and my arrival time is 12 noon. I'm staying in Makati which doesn't really get going until dusk so I was wondering what your advice would be for the early afternoon? Is it worth taking a taxi from Makati to the LA Cafe so early? I've been the the Cafe before but it was always later in the evening. I'm assuming Jurassic and the other clubs in the area are like the Makati bars and don't get going until later too.

If LA Cafe is lame in the afternoons, where else would you suggest? Thanks for your help.

Hi Jackson
I haven't posted for months, coming back to the scene after a long medical lay off and in a darling mood. Will be in Manila in two weeks and looking for recommended accomodation. Can you set up a tag under the Philippines thread covering hotels? Comments / recommendations regarding hotels are all over the shop and generall confusing. It would make it easier for all of us to find out where the best deals on monger friendly hotels in Phils are.

Hey Jackson and other fellows.

I have to agree with Daring Mood. I've always thought a hotel thread for the RP would be nice. It's why I'm here today. I'm gonna be in the RP for all of October and most of November.

I'll probably start at the Heritage. I like that area of town. Maybe I'll do a short stay at the Oxford Suites if I get the urge to hit P. Burgous.

But, as always, I'm open to new ideas.

CL, I'll shoot you a PM.

Hotel thread would be cool.

Saw the Heritage for $75 on Cebu Pacific's website. Anybody know what rate you can get as a walk in? Other websites have it cheaper?

ALso, has anybody ever stayed at Legend's hotel in the Ortigas center? The new Lonely Planet mentions the jacuzzis in each deluxe room.

Yes, simply have a try! I was there quite regularly at noon and always found somebody who met my taste for ST! I prefer to go to SOGO Mabini for it. 3 hrs cost 300 peso or so.

Oh, sorry! It is just a famous ST hotel in Mabini street. Every taxi driver you pick in front of LA Cafe knows it. It is just a 5 minutes ride that costs you not more than 40 pesos. A great place to go for daytime action while your GF/wife waits in Pan Pacific! :) Sometimes you can find cute and willing girls at the entrance!

Cheers - HesekielsThanks Hesekiels. I'll follow your advice. I'm wondering though if the latest stormtrooper raids on LA Cafe will have scared all the prospects away. Hopefully not. I've still got 3 weeks before my trip so maybe it will all have blown over by then.

I found this site before I left the states, and now have arrived in Manila as of Friday August 18th. As it is Sunday now, I shall be here for 7 more days. I am here to interview some call centers and train a some reps for my business.

I welcome the opportunity to experience the local culture - however, the conceirge at the hotel - the Astoria Plaza in Ortigas - will not let me out at night alone - *I strongly advises you against it, sir*

I have read many of the posts here (and will contribute one, if I can get off the ground here) and it appears a visit to Quezon City (Heartbeat/Classmates) for the high end, and perhaps the EDSA complex would be good. As an fyi I'm a 40yo married guy, looking for some nice filipina affairs - not wife hunting - no need for another... So do I ditch the ring, does it matter?

My primary question is, is it ok to go to these places alone? Is it fairly easy to get a fair (metered) cab ride back? Anything in particular I should watch out for? I'm getting the impression from people here that this place is more dangerous than I anticipated, and in my one trip to the local sm megamall to restock all the toiletries stripped from my bags by airport security and get some food for the fridge - I was suprised to get patted down at the entrance, and by the number of security around. I didn't really do any hunting, I looked around a bit, but didn't notice a lot of looks.

In any case, I would love to explore when I'm not working/doing business - so welcome your advice for flying solo, etc... thx

According to my girl, they are closed temporarily or permantly due to the raids last week, She thinks it might only be time before LA Cafe is closed and she will return to Davao.
I dont think they are closed for good as I heard the owner of Amazonia was opening another Amazonia bar in Wangchai, Hong Kong.
Does anybody know anything anymore concrete???

Been bar hopping for the last couple of days. Too busy for a detailed report, but I'll summarize my findings.

DEL PILAR STREET, MALATE

I am happy to report that the cornerstone of this area, LA Cafe, is running at 100%. In the two times I've been there since the raid, it was jam packed full of girls. I could not discern any decrease in either quality or quantity of girls.

Stingfellows was rocking. This is the old Jurassic bar, directly opposite LA Cafe. A very good selection of girls, although the place is up and down. When I went Thursday night, it was a difficult choice between 3 real hotties. I took one and my friend took another. None of them were there Saturday, and I couldn't find anyone I liked. The selection was still very good however. On a good night, I consider this one the best bars in Manila. Barfine is 1,000, and the ladies drinks count towards the fine.

Alas, as reported earlier, Amazonia and Butterfly bar are closed. The irony is that as far as I know, none of the staff barfined from this place. It was just a bar like LA Cafe that had a lot of freelancers. It most likely has to do bribes or similar issues about the right people not getting their "cut", although there would still need to be some violation to close the place down. I would bet that some of the dancers (or all of them) didn't have dept of social hygiene permits. Just because the girls only dance and don't barfine doesn't mean they do not need the permits. Basically, if you dance in a place like this, you are put in a group that requires weekly checkups. Maybe management thought they could get away with it (girls don't like to get the checkups) because they didn't allow barfines. Well, the law is enforced when they have good reason - like not receiving the correct bribe - so Amazonia gets closed. This is just my guess.

AIRPORT ROAD

For those not familiar with area, just ask any taxi driver to take you to Victory Hills KTV. DONT GO IN VICTORY HILLS. It is a rip off joint. Instead, just walk against the flow of traffic. You will pass Flamingo Bar (not to be confused with Flamingo on Burgos) on your left. The next bar passed Flamingo is Ruds Cafe. A small, run down bar, but there was a really nice selection of girls when I went there. Just take a seat and keep your eyes open. I took a girl from this place and so did my friend, and there was a third who was very bangable. The barfine is 6,000 (go figure), but we just picked them up down the street at 3:00 am. Some really nice girls in this bar.

Now, if instead of going into Ruds Cafe you continue walking, you will come to airport road in about 3 minutes. First, this place is dark with some sketchy characters, but don't worry too much about it. I've been there many times at around 1:00 am and have never been concerned, but cautious types should be aware.

Turn left on Airport road. This is a low end area with lots of cheap places with VIP rooms, but also a couple of nice places. The only thing that almost everyone has in common is that there are girls available, either to just sit with you, for VIP, or for take out. Take out is not common, but is usually negotiable. Just take a walk and see if anything takes your fancy. After about a 5 minute walk, you will get to a main corner with a couple of big, bright clubs. Every one is up and down, so it is difficult to recommend any particular one. At this corner, hang a right. A couple more on this street. After the street gets dark, just cross the street and check out the other side. When you get back to Airport road, turn left and go back the way you came, except now check out the bars on the other side of the street. At the point you get back to where you started from, you have walked past about 40 bars and seen maybe 100 girls. There are another maybe 200 girls inside these bars that you won't see unless you enter. And the nice thing about this place is that it is cheap. Ladies drinks are 100 to 200 pesos, and a san Miguel is always less then 50.

One of the nice things about these places is that while many of better girls just work there and won't go home or VIP with the customers, as a "rich" foreigner, you will tend to get better mileage. And if you are under 60 and less then 300 lbs, you will be considered quite a catch. Older guys can't give them the family they want and some girls are afraid that large men are just too big on top of their petite bodies (if you are 65 and 300 lbs, just lose some weight and pop a Viagra). But ugly guys, no problem. I've seen some of the funkiest looking dudes with some absolute babes. Just zoom in on the cutest girl you can find, buy her some drinks and if she won't go home with, you can almost certainly make a date for the next night and get some great girlfriend sex.

Also, there are lots of similar areas like this all around Manila, but this is the largest that I know off. Just yesterday, driving along Edsa from the complex to Makati, I noticed a couple on the left side that I have never been to before. Parking can be difficult, but no problem if you go late. I walked past about 6 or 7 bars, and saw a real cute girl working in one. She was 18 and appeared quite surprised when I offered to buy her a drink. She wouldn't go into the VIP room with me and wouldn't leave with me, but after a bunch of cheap ladies drinks, agreed to meet at 10:00 tonight and go out with me. A really sweet girl that would be very difficult to find in the complex. Assuming that she is not a virgin (I have little patience for second and third dates anymore) I'll be banging her tonight.

Sure you can go out alone at night! Take any taxi to EDSA complex, but make sure that the driver flags the meter. Sometimes one has to insist, but it's worth it to avoid misunderstandings. That's all. However, I believe with the very same precautions like in NYC you should not have any problems in Metro Manila.

By the way, why to ditch your ring? I don't do it either and never encountered any disadvantage because of that. :) Being married simply does not matter at all. IMHO, of course!

Happy hunting - Hesekiels

Anything in particular I should watch out for?BF..it sounds to me like your hotel doorman is trying to set you up with one of his driver/guide buddies. You don't need them. Manila, like any other big city, does have some sketchy areas but for the most part it's safe as long as you are aware of your surroundings and not in an alcohol induced coma. I've been going to the PI (mostly AC) for years and I've never had a problem. You can take taxis anywhere you need to go and they are very cheap compared to back home. Just make sure you have them turn on the meter. Once you hook up with a girl, she'll take care of all the small things for you (like taxis).

Don't let a doorman who's out to hook up his friends keep you from enjoying the many delights of Manila. Go forth and conquer.

bit farmer,

you've already got some good advice. edsa will rock your world. so will burgos in makati which is much closer and might be more soothing for your newbie mentality.

your conceirge strikes me as very odd. he is either trying to protect you (because you look like a target) or is trying to win your confidence so that he can get a commission based introduction. i have no idea really...but...

tell the guy you want a girl and see what happens.

whatever he says, take notes, say thanks, then get in a taxi and go to burgos or edsa. i assure you, there have been thousands of foreign guys who have made this trek, alone, and lived, and survived and had experiences which are etched into their memories forever. damn, now that i think of it i've done it nearly a hundred times myself, alone. only a few times with a friend.

of course, if you are a wussy, just stay in your hotel room. you can probebly ask for room service.

different people have different strategies, but i always firmly and politely ask for the meter. i'll tip well if there are no arguements, no excessive beeping of the horn (rare), and no speeding up when old ladies and children are trying to cross the road.

if any of this info is any help, i'd love to hear some general info about you biz. just send private message (pm).

It would make it easier for all of us to find out where the best deals on monger friendly hotels in Phils are.

xgot it x-man. this morning prior to this good 'stop being a wus' advice, i played it half safe and arranged a rendez vous with an yahoo chat i had a while back, she came an hour out of the city to see me, but nana sent her cousin (hotter) and sister (cute but young) with her - when the group finally showed up (they each had to have a turn in the shower) i knew the story, but they took me to a couple of real filipino bars and it was an absolute riot - apparently getting up on stage, singing or being a silly transvestite is popular entertainment here.

while i was waiting i wandered around the megamall, what a monsterous place - and got a significant number of raised eyebrows from some hotties - whether they were with a guy or not - and that's always a good boost - as i walked from there to starbucks to wait - i did get a few odd looks from the dudes hanging around the jeepneys, and one guy offered to sell me something 'hey joe, walla ka blah blah blah..." but it felt safe enough with plenty of people around. while i was sitting at starbucks still waiting for my date i stuck up a conversion with a chinese american who is here alone - he basically told me the same good advice - stop being a wus, forge the deal with the cabby up front, and just go - he said he was taking a night off, after having 4 different girls in the 3 days he's been here - apparently, i need to step it up a bit.

i talked with abe the conceirge, and he doesn't want me walking the streets of ortigas at night, ok, fair enough - i asked him about a girl, and his eyes lit up and he instantly referred me to the hotel driver - so bingo x-man - they are going the commission route. and i'm thinking maybe the call center people are giving me the 'too dangerous' bit because they know about wifie at home, so ok, we can keep that on the down low. i don't suppose the girls at the bars matter whether your're married or not - and i did keep that point to myself with the local girl.

i did manage to get the three local hotties back to the hotel room, couldn't separate the girls, so i steared the direction towards sex, and the only player was the hottie cousin - she had deferred to my date all night, except when we got back to the hotel - the sister of course noticed and played gate keeper, my date didn't seem to pick up the vibe but she had definately decided she was going to play good girl and if i heard her say 'it's only the first date'... one more time i was ready to send her back to high school... even the hottie cousin told her to stay, first whispering it but then just coming out and saying it - so when she shook her head no i made an attempt to get all three to *sleep over* with me on the king bed - hey there's enough room, these girls are so petite - but again the only taker was the hottie cousin, who lay down on the bed and started rubbing up her shirt across her nice flat belly - i had to move in closer to that action, at which point and young sister jumped up and said time to go. damn, i was ready to start a family feud, but i wasn't so rude as to throw the two sisters out and keep cousin nellie (wussy move, i know i know - i need to break out of my home mindset).

so my new chinese-american friend is 4 for 3 and i'm 0 for 3. just like the red sox lately. so tomorrow i'll have to step to the plate like david ortiz.

Thanks for the update Bit Farmer. I'm glad to hear you're making progress. Sometimes those online contacts can be a lot of fun and you can experience things you wouldn't have otherwise. I don't really understand some of the guys here who feel like they're wasting time if they don't get their target into bed in the first two hours.

Maybe your date will think twice next time she brings her cousin. I hope you got the cousin's phone number!

Bit Farmer,

I sent you a PM also.

I have stayed in the Ortigas area many times and have walked around at all hours of the night without ever any fear. Astoria is tucked away a little so I can understand what they were telling you--plus, there is nothing to do late-nights in that area anyways.

San Miguel Ave and Emerald Ave are where the call centers are and those places are really busy all times of night.

Sure there are the malls in Ortigas (Shangri-la Plaza, Megamall, Podium, St. Francis Square and Robinsons), there isn't much to do at nights in that area. For that reason I have moved to staying in the Makati area even though my call center is walking distance from the hotels in the Ortigas area.

As stated by others, Burgos is probably the closest to you. Taking Shaw to Edsa from your hotel shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes without traffic. Just have the taxi drop you off anywhere and go in to a few places on Burgos. There's also some massage parlors in that area too if you're interested in a "quick" fix.

last weekend i visited manila for the first time in over 10 years. following advice from this thread, i tried edsa entertainment complex. after resisting the aggressive charms of the staff in a few of the bars, i tried casino, which is the first place on the left as you enter the complex. having already decided that i was too tired for a root that night (after a busy couple of days previously), i chatted to a young lady named lea (as in star wars princess lea). at 27 and with one child (she still has a cute little body and no stretch marks), she's a little older than some of the other girls, however she assured me that with experience she has developed superior bj skills! though a 6 in the raw looks scale, her charming and honest personality propels her above 7 or 8 in my books.

i decided to bar fine lea (p 1,000) for what we agreed would be a very relaxing and sexy massage with multiple bbbj for about two hours. back at the hotel, we cleaned up and she gave me a very nice massage (she is a qualified therapeutic masseuse). this evolved into a great bj, long, slow and with lots of variety, just how i like it. her deep throat was great and she did that bj with slippery double handed twist thing like in the porn movies. after one pop, she cleaned me up and cuddled me for a while, so i decided to return the favour. i sucked her very sensitive tits and fingered her pussy until she had a very explosive orgasm, very quiet but she was twitching and rollling around like she was having multiples! after relaxing for a while, it was my turn again, so she gave me another bbbj which evolved into a hj with her straddling my balls in a simulated sex position. this also had the desired result! after some more recovering and a chat, she applied more lotion and gave me a lovely hj, very carefully executed with both hands and with many variations and sensations. yes, i popped again! we had previously agreed to two hours and three pops and she enjoyed meeting the challenge.

this was a very different experience for me. having decided on a lazy no sex session, lea followed our agreed rules and at no time did she attempt to reneg or upgrade. she is very customer focussed and treated the whole session like i was an honoured customer in any other service oriented business. however, it was not mechanical, she put her heart and soul into my pleasure. i gave her the agreed p 2,000 and an extra few hundred taxi fare (she lives one hour from manila and it was very late), well worth it for me. i will look for lea again when i return to manila and i can strongly recommend her for anyone who would rather be thoroughly pampered than play the lottery with the usual selection of cute but unpredictable young bar girls. i suspect that she would also be a sensational root, based on how horny she is and the way she came when i fingered her surprisingly tight little pussy. lea can be easily recognised by her eager smile and laughter, also she has a small beauty spot on the right side of her mouth.

Sorry.Drove by this place on my way out of town and country. I'm pretty sure this is really East Asia I'm talking about. And yes, YMMV a lot here. I had the crappy experience so that's left me with no desire to return here when I make it back to the Phils someday.

I don't think he is looking for a place that he can eat without utensils. I believe he is looking for a restaurant like the Galaxy No Hands restaurant in Bangkok where you pick a girl from the fishbowl and she feeds you at the table, while your hands are free for exploring.

Quite sure that there isn't one in Manila.

In Manila last week and visited the LA Cafe. I asked a lot of questions about the recent raid, and foreigners being hassled by cops and pretended to be afraid to hook up because of this. As a result, some of the self-proclaimed regulars became angry and walked away from me. Just wanted to let them know we do hear about such things and that bad publicity was bad for business.

Came back later and did hook up with a fun pair of girls. Both were tall, young, good looking and slim. As a precaution, I gave them 200p to take a separate cab back to my hotel. Back in the room they were an absolute riot. They were laughing and joking the whole time they were working on me. They did anything I asked them to. Gave them 1500p each.

Next night went to P. Burgos street. I am sorry, I just don't get it. This place is supposed to have the superior girls? I saw nothing “superior.” The LA Café had the same quality of girls, albeit not the same quantity, and the EDSA girls were actually better looking.

Hi Billpsu,

Just curious, which bars did you go to on Burgos? For the first time I actually went to a couple of bars on Burgos and I have seen some really nice looking girls in some of the bars. I also went to Edsa a couple of times and have seen some good ones there also.

\I only went to 2 bars at Edsa and they both had about 50 girls. I think I saw 2-3 I considered "hot" in each.

I agree that Burgos is hit and miss at times too but I think percentage-wise, I saw more "hot" girls on Burgos. If you're comparing them to the ones on the street, I have yet to see really good looking girls on the street at Burgos. At about 4am-4:30am, there are plenty since they are all leaving the bars after they close and many will hang around the street either talking or looking for guys to pick them up.

On a side note, I was standing in front of the 7-11 tonight for about 20 minutes waiting for someone on this board and 2 ladyboys came up to me offering a massage for 500 pesos. I have to say that these 2 were not as easy to tell but to me they were quite obvious. I firmly declined and he/she said that he/she was "really horny" at which point I took a couple of steps back and declined again so they went on their way. About 5 minutes later, 2 Korean guys walk by and these 2 latch on to their arms, offer them massages, kiss them on the cheek and go walking away arm and arm... I was trying to signal them not to take them but they didn't see me. There were 2-3 others that I saw them talking to so I didn't want to risk a big scene so I let the Korean guys walk away with them.

I did see the 2 ladyboys walking back by themselves about 5 minutes later so hopefully the Koreans figured it out. I've found that the ones offering massages on Burgos for 500 pesos have been guys the 3 times I was approached.

Regarding LA Cafe, I went in on a Saturday a couple of months ago and walked around the place for a while. There were probably about 200+ girls there but I did not see any that I would have even considered. I was looking real hard for at least a decent one and looked at just about every girl in the bar but couldn't find any. I know there was a heated debate about this quite some time ago and I don't want to start it again but I just didn't see any quality when I was there.

Matrix, Jools, Wild Wild West, and so on. Just went from one to another. Perhaps I over-anticipated because of all I have read. But believe me, it just was not there.

LA Cafe is hit or miss. I guess being there on a Friday/Saturday night helped. My friend also agreed that a lot of the girls there, on those particular nights, were hot.

I was sitting in LA Cafe Thursday night and I was right by the door when NBI came in to close the place down.

Sad thing is the girls knew about it before anyone else. I watched them all file out of there in droves. By the time NBI got in the door the majority of the girls had left.

NBI went straight upstairs virtually ignoring downstairs.

I just sat there and watched the show. I got bored because they shut off the music and most of the girls had left. So I headed down the street to Amazonia to play some pool.

Later on I had heard they actually closed LA for the weekend because Friday is a holiday so LA couldn't do nothing until Monday at earliest. But I have heard some unconfirmed stuff about it not reopening.

I do know that there has been a shuffle of Police Chiefs/Captains in Manila recently so hopefully it is just them flexing muscle to let everyone know who is in charge (and who to pay bribes to now.)

Also watch out for those checkpoints when you have a girl in the taxi. I have gotten pulled over a couple times and I paid the cop the first two times (Same guy.)

Now he pulls me over to say hello. I dont pay him no more but I also made it clear on #3 I was done paying. But not all cops are nice so it is smart to what this guy here says. Give the girls taxi money and let them come to your hotel in a separate taxi.

But if you do get nailed have the girl lie and say she has known you for years. Give her a few quick details to tell to the cops to try and back it up.

Best bet is to tell her to keep her mouth shut and you do all the talking. If you are here on a short trip give the cop you are talking to 2000 or so and get back in and leave when they let you go.

Keep your calm and dont get in there face. Be nice and cooperative. Pay when asked and good to go. Is easier than the hassle you will face otherwise.

That's really bad news! Hopefully the local authorities will reconsider their decision soon. Well, I suppose now we need plan B for daytime action. Any idea where all the LA girls are hanging around instead of that?

It is hit or miss with them all depending on the time of day/night and where you go on Burgos. The clubs you mentioned on Burgos (Matrix, WW West and Jools) are not known for where the hotties are. You should have tried Flamingo, Billboard or High Heels. Keep in mind also, that many of the stunners are usually gone by 10 PM. The Matrix is a FL bar like LA Cafe; totally hit or miss.

Generally speaking there is a larger ratio of hotties in the Burgos GRO bars than EDSA. You'll see this over time if you barhop between the two. Going to EDSA and Burgos in the same night only gives you one snapshot in time and it's not really a valid way of comparing the two. But go to both over a period of time and you'll quickly see the difference and why the longterm mongerers will say there are more quality stunners in Burgos.

Another thing to consider is that the Burgos managers usually begin training their girls how to be companions with foreigners the day they start working. If they can't speak English well, they'll have the other girls start teaching them English. They are taught proper hygeine and simple things like shaving their legs. At EDSA, these girls are their mostly for the locals so the girls with the mud between their toes remain girls with mud between their toes. This little difference between the two areas does, IMHO, does make the girls of Burgos higher quality.

The best thing to do is check out all areas including Quezon and Pasay too. Great ladies can be found in all areas. Even better though is if you have the time, make a trip to Angeles.

Hey guys,

How close exactly is Hyatt Regency to EDSA complex? Is it literally next door, or will I have to walk for awhile?

And is it risky walking with a girl directly out of the EDSA complex back to the hotel? I'm thinking maybe I should tell her to meet me there instead after hearing about the cops and their scams.

The Hyatt, on Rojas, is about 2 blocks (long ones) from EDSA. I have stayed there lot's of times in the past and ussually walk over to EDSA (earlier in the evening) then take a cab back (late at night). It is less than 50 pesos. As for the police and their shakedowns ??? in all the years I have been going there I have never heard about that happening. I think that it's restricted to LA Cafe area and rare even there.

As for staying at the Hyatt, I will not stay there again, other then it's proxiemty to EDSA there is nothing else around there, no stores / sari sari to buy things like water or restaurants for food.

From EDSA (entertainment) complex is a taxi ride away from Hyatt Regency, or it's a long walk. You should not get any problem with cops, but walk with any girl you meet in the bar all the way back to Hyatt is not really a good idea.

Thank you all for the great posts through the forum. I am planning a 2 week trip through the Philippines and Hong Kong and have been diligently RTFF to help me plan my trip.

I have put together a preliminary itinerary based on the information in the forums and would appreciate any input or advice (I am posting this in both the Hong Kong and Manila threads). I also do have a couple questions at the bottom which I wasn’t able to find answers to in the forums. I am not so anal as to stick to this itinerary 100%, but found it helpful in planning my trip.

I don’t mind paying more to experience the best Asia has to offer so if I have missed anything PLEASE let me know, however I only speak English so would prefer to stay to the beaten path.

Note: The maps I put together are from taking information off this site or my best guess. Please correct me if there are mistakes.

Questions:

Philippines:

1) Phoenix 1 – could somebody let me know how to find this place. One post said it was a lobby with no name between a JVC and iBank sign. Another post said it was in the Roman Suites Hotel. Any clarification would be appreciated.

2) Is there anything else interesting to do in Manila? I spent all my time RTFF and don’t have a clue what else to do there.

3) There was some talk about the “Asian Entertainment Complex”. Could somebody let me know any further details and location.

Hong Kong

1) New Paris Club – could somebody let me know where this is. I saw a post saying on Chatham Road, but where abouts?

2) Wan Chai vs. Tsim Sha Tsui – it seems that hotels are slightly cheaper in Wan Chai, is there downfalls from staying on this side to make it more compelling to stay in Tsim Sha Tsui.

3) Macau – I only plan on 1 day there so intend to go to 18 Sauna, is this a mistake and should I go to Darling 1 instead?

4) Beer – I know San Miguel would be the beer to drink in Manila, what is the popular beer in Hong Kong?

Thanks again for all the valuable advice on these boards

you have done your homework. a fine schedule. to answer your questions
1) it is on the third floor of the roman suites hotel. the hotel is right between the jvc sign and ibank sign. the hotel only has a banner for sign, so the jvc and ibank signs are a better indication on how to find it.

2) check out the glorietta mall/greenbelt and mall of asia (third largest mall in the world). typical stuff like fine restaurants, movies, imax, ice skating. girls love being taken there. take a girl to star city or enchanted kingdom. cheezy amuzment parks, but still lots of fun with a nice girl. stroll along baywalk and check out the bands and cheap food. checkout the outdoor market at market! market! (fort benafacio). do some go cart racing (opposite home depot in fort benafacio). take a day trip to subic or tagaytay.

3) i believe the poster was referring to east asia club on roxas. a very expensive rip off place. however, their showroom did have maybe the best line up of any club i have found in the philippines (except for maybe alerio in las pinas). i don't think you will get out of there for less then about 12,000 between barfine, entrance, and drinks.

a couple of side notes. buy a cell phone as soon as you get to manila. a new run will cost about 3,000 and a used one about 2,000. it will make it much easier to set things up with girls. also, write your number on a piece of paper multiple times and keep it in your wallet. you can just tear off a piece if you have to give a girl your number. i've been living here for over a year, and i just figured this out! missed out on two fantastic opportunities in one week because the girls didn't have cell phones and i didn't give them my number. very common if you have the opportunity to pick up a girl who is not working and doesn't have money to buy a cell. in both cases, the girls were friends of the girl i was with. also in both cases, my girl was supposed to act as the go between. all of a sudden, one of the girls "cant get in touch with her friend". the other one won't return my texts. it seams kind of obvious, but dont rely on a girl who likes you (or your money) to help you go with her friend.

on a side note, i am feeling a little concerned recently about going with girls who could be ****. in many cases, you find girls who say they are 18, but they look younger. since so many 16 year olds look 18, and many 18 year olds look 16, this can be a real problem. many say they don't have ids, or have fake ones. in the past, i really didn't care as long as they said they were 18 and they looked as though they could be. i now find myself being vary wary of these situations. not sure why, but out here, you have to go with you gut. recently, i was meeting a girl for the third time that i got from the cotton club. she had a very petite body, but an older face. she said she was 18, and i honestly had no idea. on our thrid meeting, she shows up with a really young looking girl. she says she was her friend and she would wait outside. but when we get to the hotel, they both come in. the whole time they were texting nonstop. i get concerned that maybe it was a setup. the young girl finally goes outside. i was so paranoid, that i had a hard time having sex with the girl. afterwards, the other girl comes in. it turns out the very young looking girl is 19. she is not a working girl and shows me a couple of id's. she was petite, simple and a virgin, which made her look younger than she was. she could easily pass for 15. but i had put myself in a bad position. i'm in a hotel room with two girls, both could have been ****, and one looked liked she was 15. and they wer both texting like crazy. everything worked out fine, but it was still a very bad idea. you should never get yourself in that position.

I was just at Phoenix and there is no sign on the building any longer. It is a plain buidling with nothing on it but it is between the JVC building and i-bank.

The guards ask you when you enter if you are going to Phoenix.

BTW, apparently it was never called Phoenix1. It has always been Phoenix Gentleman's Club...

Also, regarding prices, the prices change depending on what time of day. PDP is 1000 from 2am to noon, 1500 from noon to 6pm and 2000 from 6pm to 2am. The girl receives either 1500 or 2000 depending on the time.

Tips at Phoenix are usually 1500. The girl may insist on 2000 but you can get away with 1500.

Why Jackson allows his board to be hijacked by spammers/pimps is beyond me. While anybody wioth ANY common sense would stay a mile away from this type of nonsense (once you get to Manila there are more available girls than ANYBODY can handle without resorting to pimps), I'm guessing she will get dozens of breathless responses. Suckers are born every minute, like the Japanese guy I saw at the airport last night asking "where to get a taxi". Of course he was directed to the cartel of criminals charging 500P (or more). Had he READ a little bit, he would know that by walking outside with traffic towards the right where the flyover ends you can get a taxi who just dropped his passenger and will take you anywhere in Manila for 100Piso (better than no fare at all dibah?). I give a tip of 50Piso ONLY IF the guy does not try and renegotiate the fare once we are on our way (if they DO I say sternly "you can let me out right here and I will find another who wants my 100Piso).

FWIW, when I arrived at NAIA yesterday at 7.30pm on the TG flight from BKK it was LOVELY because there were no crowds at all. What a wonderful change from the old days when all the PAL flights from US and YVR would arrive at 5am in a veritable circus (was MUCH worse before the Centennial Terminal opened removing the PAL flights from NAIA).

The new lighting on Roxas is wonderful and there were bands playing outside across from Diamond Hotel and TONS of babae on the cruiser. Nice to be back.

Sure it is indeed... but too bad;

I was in town for two nights but it is surprising that when I informed one of my GF (from 6 years back when I was staying in Philippines) of my arrival she came to pick me up at the Airport. Even more surprised is that she had another one of my ex-GF (whom they do not know each other when I left Ph) together with her! I got to found out that they are now working together and happens to share photos of their ex-BF and pow! I was their common BF before! Dam... they stucked to me for the whole trip! I even have to bring them along acting as my secretary and Assistant (more of Sexytaries) for business meetings!

Sorry Cebu Local, I initially planned to meet up with you this trip but dammed! I got stuck! Next time I should nt inform any one of my arrival otherwise, I got a feeling that it will end up like this.

Back to ISG main topic; as we were out at nights, we drove pass several of the mongering places and looks like they hadn't change at all.. still full of life, full of fun! If not more!

I'll like to come back to live here once again... hopefully soon... now I am back in Singapore and catching my flight back to China.

Manila... still a great place!

I'll be back!

there is a notice of closure on the door reminiscent of the days of mayor lim
(the christian conservative mf who originally "cleaned up" ermita in the early 90s). when i asked the security guard she mentioned something about it being under renovation since last friday but peeking in showed no evidence of construction. their website apears to have last been updated last month but no mention of any renovation plans.

she directed me to stringfellows across the street. i did notice several gogo bars that appeared to be new along mabini in malate, but i suppose i will either hit pburgos or edsa tonight before going to davao tomorrow.

hot here (africa hot!) and not rainy (it is supposedly rainy season). and getting pricier by the day as the philippine piso is about to go under 50 to the american peso, thai baht under 37 and japanese yen to 110. your tax dollars at work as the us government attempts to complete the 6 year process of turning the us into a third world country.

If it is true that LA Cafe is closed this is devastating news!!! I think we need a special thread to report on any updates as last year when I was in Manila I visited there virtually every day with great results on every visit!! I've already booked my next trip there this New Year and I need to know the alternatives - where will all the freelancers go?

Nothing like being able to go to a bar, no bar fine, take your time in picking out your girl for the night, play a little pool, listen to a band, dance a bit, drink a bit etc etc etc
Oh well, I guess there's always the malls!

Spoke to my gf yesterday who works downstairs. She is so worried, shes wants me to pay her airfare back to Davao where she will take care of her kids and a small freehold house in Davao that she purchased from 1 year in the bar.
If this is the mindset of two girls (her sister is leaving as well but a week later) then when LA Cafe finally reopens (if it does) some of the more popular, more attractive girls will be gone.
Im not saying that my gf wont be back to LA (I would like to think she wont be back there) but it will take a long cooldown period before some of these girls will return from the provinces.
My girl wants me to spend my next holiday in Davao with her and to meet her family. hmmmm.

Closing an historical landmark like the LA Cafe is akin to desecration of a shrine! Typical of this place though to shut down a thriving business which provided legitimate employment to dozens of people and part-time, slightly less legitimate employment to literally hundreds of others. Don't you just love social policy by fiat? No due process, no wrangling in the courts, and no legal basis. What happened? The Cafe didn't pay enough? Didn't pay the right people? Or were the owners just making too much money and it pissed off the local greed meisters?

Maybe we should all sign a petitiion asking for a commerorative brass plaque to be installed at the site.

Sic transit gloria mundi. Rest in peace LA.

Brothers, the news about LA closing is very sad. Every time I went to Angeles, I loved to stay the last days in Manila, going every night to LA. I listed it to my friends like one of the 5 pussy temples in the world (Sophie in PP, Stadium in JAK, Eden in BKK, Help in Rio and LA in MNL)

And now? All the girls go to Amazonia and the other bars near the Robinson mall? Somebody has last news? To the end of september I will travel to Philippines another time, and I have no time to lose!

I had Coffee with my friend the Regional director of the Department of Tourism and asked about the LA Cafe and He confirmed that Mayor Atienza of Manila personally ordered it shut down PERMANENTLY.It unfortunately became too famous for its own good.Guys who know me real life can confirm that I am one of the Tourism leaders here in the PI.So can we have a moment of silence for the memory of LA Cafe.

Yes, it did seem appropriate, and thanks for demonstrating that you too understood what I meant. Not a contrarian at all, but merely trying to state that there's little of permanence on which one can count, even in the tawdry arena of mongering.

My guess is that LACafe was drawing too much business away from the Burgos and EDSA establishments.

On the other hand, this article about contraceptives seems to indicate he may be very conservative:

Dashing Dkhead suggests I was attacking GE, which, of course, I was not. Suggesting that GE was from another planet (he was using a language that is no longer used on this planet) was probably taken as a compliment by GE, but if it wasn't -- I apologize.

I thought it was interesting the way GE used Latin in his post. I had to look it up to understand it and then posted my findings just in case anyone else was curious.

Dashing ends his post with "peace be with you". Yeah, right.

I don't know if this is the right forum, but I try. I am going to Philippines (Manila and Angeles) for the time, and just to prepare everything I tried to check info on the airport. Do I understand it right, that you cannot go into the airport if you don't have a ticket, and an E-ticket is not enough? If so, what should I do to get into the airport when I am going back?

I lived in Manila for many years. During both Fred Lim's regime and Lito Atienza's and became very close to Mayor Lim. He had many events at my facility during the time he ran for president. Lito was his vice mayor and is pious and sanctimonious hypocrite IMOHO. Total double standards. Just wants to stay Mayor and will do what ever it takes to do that.

I seriously doubt he will close down all the other places. LA Cafe owners probably just crossed him and he slapped them down.

Nothing much has changed since I moved away from Manila 6 years ago and nothing is likely to change in the next six.

All just editorial BS from ES

An e-ticket is fine, as long as you can show any supporting docs such as a computer printout. On my return trip last June, I showed a Travelocity email on my PDA, and security passed me through.

Klon,

I travelled from Manila airport recently. I simply mumbled "e-ticket" to the security guy at the terminal entrance and he let me in. It might be safe for you to have a printed copy of your e-ticket just in case you encounter a more officious reception.

On a similar note, be aware that Manila Airport has invoked the full Trans-Atlantic no liquids in carry on baggage rules. Before you go to the airport, make sure all of your liquids (after shave, toothpaste, KY jelly, lotion, ointment tubes, deodorant) are packed in your checked baggage to avoid hassles at the security screening checkpoint.

Have fun

Guys,

Thanks for the info and advice as I finalize the plans for my trip. One last area where I would like to seek the collective knowledge of the board.

I intend on meeting up with 1 girl I met in Filipino Heart. So far she doesn't strike me as being a pro. She has a job and seems above board (although I am sure all these girls portray this). She keeps talking about heading out to the disco with her friends. I imagine I am being set up for a night out on the town courtesy of the Westerner. I don't mind being a little bit generous, but I just hate the thought of being taken advantage of. Should I be concerned? Should I think differently of this girls intentions because of this? Should I avoid this? Or is this just the filipino way?

Any advice would be appreciated.

You're talking about a small amount of money either way. Taking out a bunch of girls to a disco should cost no more than about $40 and you will likely have a good time and maybe meet some beautiful girls who you can possibly hook up with if you handle it right.

Everyone seems to be worried about getting ripped off by "Pros". You are more likely to get ripped off by taxi drivers in Manila, from what I experienced. I only met 1 or 2 potential scammers out of over 40 girls.

You will be able to tell the rip offs, just don't judge too quickly. Generally, if you are going out to lunch, a picnic, etc., you will be paying for everyone. Some will try to reciprocate in a fashion that they can afford, but you will be appreciated.

Just enjoy yourself and don't buy anybody (or her brother) a Tryke and you'll have a good time, LOL.

I too have tinkered paying the subscription for Filapina Heart cos some of the girls there appear very hot and not from a bar existance. But as i already have a girl from LA Cafe who im very fond of I only want to have fun but with a non-bargirl type of girl.

I have a girl in Cebu who i spent one night with from Blackhole, She finished her bargirl career and back going to school. I was contemplating spending a few days with her in Cebu and then the scam came, mu aunty won't support me anymore and i need 10k pesos a month to survive.

First of all, listen to CL.

Second, I don't know YOUR situtaion, but I could easily take out three or four Filipinas (half my age) for a night out on the town for less than what it costs me for a date HERE. (Nevertheless, the last date HERE turned out to be a a multi orgasmic squealer, so I'm not complaining)

Third, if you like discos, you'll have fun. If not, suggest another venue.

Fourth, listen to CL

I just returned home from a 2+ week trip to Manila - no doubt you will be paying to take a girl and her friends out - so enjoy it. As mentioned already, it doesn't cost much, and you will be taken care of in other ways. Besides, where else can you get the attentions of 2 or 3 cute girls - flirt with them all, they will like it, keep your touching to the target of course, until they move otherwise.

While there I met up with 2 internet chats, and three different bars girls whom I had given my number to to meet up later (so to avoid the barfine but still enjoy the girl). In every case, when we met, the girl came with friend or friends attached. It's all good, they are protecting themselves and getting their friends opinion. Dinner and drinks, plus a cover charge if you go to a club and even the multiple plates of food they will order over the course of the night, will cost you 2000-3000 pesos for the night. In my case, for just food and drinks I ended up with a couple of two-on-ones, two times I paid for the accompany's taxi home to have the target girl stay over, and one time I had to wait for a 2nd date. Unlike barfines, in these situations when the girls stayed over, they never asked for anything upfront or in the morning... not once. Although if they were good (and they all were, actually, better than the girls I paid the barfines for) I did give them 1000p and they seemed quite pleased - and a couple never looked at the amount, just tucked it into her jeans or purse - and that pretty much guaranteed they would txt me again for another date... and alone the 2nd time around... But like me you will likely run out of time before you run out of girls.

Thanks for the advice and for bringing me back to reality. How I could budget $200/day for mongering and then worry about a $50 bill to take some locals out for a night on the town seems ridiculous now.

One thing you have to realize at Edsa--or any bar for that matter, is that most of the top girls have every other Sunday off.

So, sundays usually have a very diluted pool of talent. The mid-level girls often take weekdays off since it is slower but the top ones can afford to take every other Sunday off since they usually have customers any day of the week.

Was down at LA Cafe on Monday. Everyone, including the security guard, was saying that they would open Tuesday. Since Tuesday has come and gone, so much for rumors. Stringfellows has opened their doors to freelancers. The problem is that it is a small bar. It was so packed, I just had to leave. I used to enjoy hanging out their and chatting and occasionally barfining a cute bargirl. But with the number of customers there their, finding a cute bargirl is now impossible.

Been hanging out in Las Pinas a lot recently. See my recent post on the scene there. I have been to many of the KTV and bars there. In case anyone goes down there, The three that should not be missed are Alerio, Glamori and "The House". To find the House, keep on going down Zapote Road. You will see a big sign on the right for 22nd Street Club. Keep on going. The next big sign is some funky Korean sign. The place looks like a house with lots of lights.

In all three of the above the places, there is a barfine and most girls will go out, but it can be hit and miss.

Also, new bar in Makati - Wow. Opposite Jools. Small place, but not bad

Thank you LoveAsian*****s for your update and taking the time to checkout the La Cafe. It would seem if "everyone" including the security guard was telling you that they would be opening on Tuesday, something must be happening as the La Cafe still has people working and on payroll. I am sure they are not just working for free. This corralates exactly to what my friend told me that she was actually working inside doing some updating. I cannot believe they would be updating and having security guards, e.c.t. there if the place was not going to be reopened.

I posted a while back about a club within 1 block that was dead at the time but should be thriving now, unless there was also a message to the other clubs to clean up their act or sauffer the same fate as LA. Don't get me wrong, there are still girls there, just not as many as on other days and a lot of the better ones are off. If you just go on a Sunday, you might not even know--it's only if you have been on other nights to compare.

However, there are some of the students who only work weekends that may be there but those aren't as common.

Maiden (and lengthy) post here – I sincerely hope it is not both an eye-witness account of the death knell of a favourite haunt and a requiem.

I was at LA Cafe, just like member Hesekiels, the night the closedown occurred. Earlier that night, had walked through a horde of curious onlookers and police personnel into the pub ... and into an atmosphere like that of a chicken coop where the chickens were aware that predators were in their midst and were blocking the sole escape route. Most of the ladies were more intent on flight than on frolic.
Naively, I thought the hubbub would die down and it would be business as usual as the night progressed. Sigh, no way! Soon thereafter, all the diehard customers who were refusing to call it a night were, politely, asked to leave.

Loath to return to an empty bed, I dawdled outside LA as a reluctant onlooker, watching through the transfixing glare of TV cameras: a policeman giving an interview; ladies (the waitresses, even) being directed towards police personnel; and the constant stream of hope-laden but soon-to-be-disappointed mongers arriving variously by car, taxi and on foot.

Luckily for me, about a handful of minutes later, J - one of my regulars who seemed to be unaware of what had transpired - arrived, so I did have pleasant company that night.

The following day, I was informed separately by two other lady friends that the pub would be closed for a week, and for a fortnight; while a security person stated that it might open on Monday (Sept 4). The worst-case scenario - as stated by a local buddy - would involve an indefinite closure. He said this had happened to another pub, which has a so-far-permanent "Closed" notice on its door.

More recent posts here may make this statement a prophetic one. Ummm ... hope this is not the case, as, in my limited experience, I haven't found another venue in this area as diversely- and as well-populated; as monger-friendly; and as affordable as LA.

Regarding alternatives, the aforementioned J suggested Amazonia as one. This pub is a short walk up from LA. Keep LA to your left and after a couple of minutes you should come to this pub on the opposite side of the road.
A few asides:

1) Stringfellows, the pub adjacent to LA, supposedly shares the same management as that of LA. My opinion (please note, it is only my opinion): The one time I visited it, found it relatively claustrophobic; the waitresses lacked the bonhomie and camaraderie of their LA sisters (whose effusive, solicitous, and – sadly – chaste, ministrations I now recall quite fondly); and the draught beer I ordered was slightly more aqueous than what I'm used to.

2) Amazonia had a comparatively pleasant ambiance, but the quality and quantity of ladies over the two nights I visited it earlier this month did not compare favourably with those at LA. However, as this was immediately in the LA aftermath, they may have decided to lay low till the fracas died down.

3) Some of the former LA habitués whom I met at these two pubs appeared quite jittery, having been forced out of their regular and comfortable habitat into a (relatively) alien environment. Some of these ladies, who had preferred formerly to bestow their attentions exclusively upon our deep-pocketed fellow-mongers from further east, sported broad, “come-hither” smiles upon espying us (maybe as those whom they could link to their erstwhile demesne) - something that would have happened in LA only after hell froze over. Some of us would surely have found happy pickings during that period. I did. :-D.

P.S. Work has brought me back to an LA-less Manila (at least as indicated by the most recent posts). I am calling my few regulars to see if it is "business as usual" for them and am preparing an FR (less lengthy than this one though, :-0) of the situation as I perceive it. Will also find out if the members of the former LA sorority have an alternative congregation point.

EDITOR'S NOTE: I certainly hope that the author or somebody else will post a link to this report in the Reports of Distinction thread. Please Click Here (http://www.internationalsexguide.info/forum/announcement-reportsofdistinction.php?) for more information.

I will call my few regulars later this evening to see if it is "business as usual" for them and will prepare an FR (less lengthy than this one though, :-0) of the situation as I perceive it.

Happy news for LA Cafe aficionados. No need for requiems. A few short hours after submitting my maiden post, I would like to add that LA Cafe is up and running again. Feel like such a twit, singing mournful dirges in my room to my favourite haunt in Manila, while, all the while, it may have already opened its doors for mongers. Was walking down this evening towards Amazonia, when I saw LA Cafe's name up in lights (:-). Sighs of relief all around! No death knells, just a temporary hiatus in operations for reasons best known to the powers that be and the management, though there are rumours - as there always are - about permits and renewals and. And so on and so forth, ad nauseam.

Further, the number of womenfolk still outnumbers the mongers (happy news), though the pickings are somewhat lean, given that most of the ladies should just be becoming aware that they can resume operations at their favourite hunting grounds. I have no worries. Have just returned from LA to my room with my regular who moved back to the Cafe from Amazonia post haste.

If mongers need some info on Amazonia, do ask. I will gladly oblige with what I have. Tomorrow; -0, I am sure you will understand why.

Cheers.

Wow, great, that's indeed good news! Thank God the officials had mercy upon us! Hope, they won't scare us again in a way like that! :)

I'm looking for an internet cafe in or close to Pasay that has private booths. I know there's one in Makati on Burgos St. (88 Internet), but that's farther away than I want. I've done the search here and haven't found any mention of places like that. Anyone?

Thank God the officials had mercy on us! Hope, they won't scare us again in a way like that!LA Cafe is indeed reopened... same meat market with pool tables as it ever was. Only visible change was a bit of remodeling - big screen TV built-in first floor, etc. Business was light last night, with mostly sharks swimming... I felt fortunate to find a freshie. Rumors, for what they are worth, is that owners are being shaken down for PHP3m for permits. Anyway, it's open and we can enjoy it while it lasts.

Hi All,

I will be landing in Manila on the 7th October. I have been to the Philippines many times but I usually am just changing planes or getting into a pre-organised car to go to Angeles City or Subic Bay etc. I have not actually stayed in Manila for over 20 years LOL.

Just want to know what the correct taxi fare from the airport to Ermitta should be at about 8pm on a Saturday night and if there are any other safe and easy modes of transport to my hotel?

Thanks.

Thanks for the Pic AR. Good to know that in the eyes of a regular, things are back to normal. I think I'll take a trip down there this afternoon to see how the early action is.

If the closure was due to a shakedown not being paid, I would expect it to be a lot more then 3M. Considering the scope of the raid, LA Cafe wouldn't let it happen over 3M (unless they were calling their bluff). I have some experiance with bribes in Passay, which I expect is similar to what is the norm in Malate. I paid a bribe of over 2M last year, and my issues were minor, with no raids or media attention, and I certainly do not have business interests on the scope of LA Cafe's owners. It was just a run of the mill bribe. Bribes out here are based on the maximum that a business can afford, and still be happy with the profits. Considering the revenue LA generates, management certainly made a big mistake if the closure was due to not paying a 3M peso bribe.

I've been trying to get the whole scoop from some from some well connected people, but everyone I know that should know the situation, either says they don't know, or are being tight lipped.

BlastoffI usually take the airport taxi, as I have been told no regular taxis are allowed into the departure area of the airport. On occasion, I have seen jeepneys in the pick-up area, and raised a query as to their presence there. However, I was told that these were private vehicles that were there to pick up relatives, etc.

Re: the airport taxi. When you exit the NAIA airport (the international one) concourse and traverse a zebra crossing, you will see a taxi kiosk on your left. In the kiosk, you should see a pair of lady clerks behind whom is a list of destinations with prices specified for each destination.

I pay the official Pesos 530 (plus a little - say P20 - as a tip) for a trip to Roxas Blvd (Hyatt Casino & Hotel, Diamond Hotel, etc... all within walking distance of LA Cafe on one side and Robinsons on the other). Ask for an SUV - you pay the same whether you take a car or an SUV. The time of day does not affect these fares. If you are particular, make sure you have the exact change, as some drivers will be glad to walk away with P600 with the excuse that they have no change.

If you are travelling light, I suppose you could walk to the exit of the airport and take a regular taxi, though I have never tried that.

Thanks for the advice. My hotel emailed and said they would pick me up for 600 pesos which is double but $12 isn't a lot after a long flight for getting to your hotel trouble free but now you mentiond the coupons if they are hassle free, I will try tem. Where exactly inside the airport do I buy them? Is there an obvious Taxi coupon booth?

CheersYou get out of the plane, you pass the immigration, you get your baggage. After the custom you get out of the airport. Don't totally across the street (otherwise you would arrive at visitors arrival area), and on the left you find a long line of cabs. near that long line, you'll find a small office. Just enter it, and get your coupon. Once you have it, give it to first taxi driver in line.

Enjoy!

Now that's funny...I remember seeing the counters both inside and outside, but maybe I have my airports mixed up. Or maybe they changed. Or maybe I'm getting the old and new aiports mixed up. Damn, age and alcohol tend to kill a lot of brain cells.

Blastoff, it's not a hassle. Be wary of individuals who come up to you giving taxi advice -- although usually they're just trying to direct you to their particular counter. At the counter, FIRMLY say, "I'm going to xxx hotel". If they ask for more than 400 pesos, you're probably in the wrong place.

I'm probably giving far too much advice since the whole point of the "coupons" / taxi counters is to reduce scams. If I'm not mistaken, the airport staff write down the taxi # and give you a copy.

There will be noise, chaos and stifiling heat...but stay focused and you will find what you seek.

Using this method, you generally get good taxis with drivers who speak relatively good English. Be friendly and ask questions. They can be a gold mine of information. You might ask them how much they charge for a two hour drive out to Angeles city. They'll quote something exorbitant, but ask for a card. You never know....

Yeah, $12, but will they show, LOL. Twice tried using this route, Asia Travel once and Hotel next year, both blew it. AT even kept my pre pay, but made up for it later. The stories I could tell....

At the old NAIM the Nissan Taxi is just across the street and to your left as you exit. If you want a taxi from there do not walk down to the arrivals hall. As you leave this area in your cab you will see the “arrivals hall” over your left shoulder and below. I used the Nissan Taxi about a month. It cost me 360p to the Oxford Suites. If you do not have a car waiting for you it is a lot better than trying to get a cab at the snake pit called the arrivals hall.

Do I have the time to hop in town for a several hour visit? I was at P. Burgeous 1 night in 2003. Had a great time. I might even just collect a few cell numbers for my return on Dec 4th. Then I have 4 days before returning home. Thanks for the help.

Going upstairs, also avoid stoping taxi's with the police near by because they will tell you that you can't get into taxi on this level. So you may have to walk a way exiting the airport. Don't get in taxi untill you have a price, meter or no meter.

I'm assuming you're willing to forego sleep, in which case you have time. The EDSA entertainment complex is quite close to the airport. You may need a place for your bags so get a room at the Copacabana and walk across the street and find some action.

Other people have suggested Air Force One Massage for some quick fun between flights. I'm not sure where you could leave your bags. I imagine you could make some arrangements at the airport.

I heard the Dutch are the tallest people in the world. I guess they must grow tall in order to look over all the big dikes. (no pun intended)

In the Philippines? If you like tall and light, I suggest you go somewhere else. Maybe China? Not so tall, but they have light complexions.

Or go to Japan. There's a lot of people there who don't like dark skin.

You'll feel right at home.

It is still the rainy season. What's more, a major typhoon just hit Manila on Thursday, the worst one in 11 years, causing major damage and knocking out power for all of Luzon. Also people were killed in landslides south of Manila. I understand that power is restored in some places, but not where my gf lives.

So you'll find a Manila that's climbing out from under the damage done. You might let us know how that's carrying on.

The typhoon hit Thursday. My first typhoon, and hopefully my last. Something like a catagory 2 or 3 hurricaine on the west coast of the US. Most of the serious damage was caused by falling billboards. Manila is filled with these huge, poorly constructed bilboards. Obviously, considering their large surface area, many just blew down.

LA cafe was open Thursday night, although with sporadic power. A very slow night for them. I had to meet a friend there, but it was really dead. I'll be out again Saturday, and I assume everything will be back to normal in the bars. I'm hoping all the girls will be out in force to make up for their lost revenue due to the typhoon.

I just flew manila/Bangkok/manila for $280. 00 round trip on PAL. I flew 1st week of August. I don't know what you guys consider budget, but that seemed pretty cheap to me. I purchased that ticket online at the PAL web-site.

One thing you all must remember or it can cost you money. If you are traveling usa/manila/usa and do your Bangkok trip within your longer trip, make sure you bring your "RETURN" ticket to the USA with you. I made the mistake of leaving my return ticket in a safe deposit box in my makati hotel and took a 4 day trip to Bangkok. Upon checkin at Bangkok Airport I was asked to show my outbound ticket from Philippines. As it was in my safe box I obviously could not show it. So PAL told me they would not issue me a borading pass. I was ready to explode. I told them that since they sold me my ticket, they can check their computer and print me up a duplicate. They refused. They told me to "buy" a ticket Manila/Hong Kong to show immigration and then get a refund later. In my 20 trips to the Philippines, no immigration officer ever asked me to see my outbound ticket but they insisted that it is the law. So I was forced to buy a useless ticket and then cashed it in with a $50. 00 penalty for cashing it in. Can you believe these motherfuckers? I can go on and on about this situation but it just seems to be part of the price I pay for mongering.

Boycott PAL as much as is possible as these people do not value your patronage and will gouge you any chance they get. Despite being a billion dollar, multi-national company, PAL is just a 3rd world, 3rd rate company wrapped up in shiny glitter.

Dr Slim,

This has always been the case for me when flying to the Philippines from either the USA, Hong Kong or Korea on as many as 6 different air lines. In the past you may have been purchasing a round trip ticket and therefore they did not ask you this question. Had you purchased a one way ticket to the PI before this situation? If so I would find that odd based on my experience.

No reason to boycott PAL. EVERY airline flying to the Phils will require you to show an onward ticket as a condition of getting the boarding pass. That is a hard and fast requirement by the Bureau of Immigration and the airlines can be fined and threatened with losing their landing rights for letting passengers through without it. Now it's possible that the immigration agent doesn't ask you to show your onward ticket, but the airlines don't know that so they're not going to go there. Period. For the airline, it's an easy choice between pissing you off and pissing off the BI.

The old hands know this. Newbies take note. Dr Slim, consider it a lesson learned.

Finrod is correct.
same happened to my friend on thai whom i was travelling with. But he was able to contact his wife in Tarlac and the famiily was able to get his Manila-Auckland ticket to thai before we landed and thai officials were waiting with his namecard as we deplaned to give him his ticket. Funny thing phil customs never asked for his return ticket but intl carriers have to play by phil govt rules because they can be heavily fined.
And we all thought there were no rules in the phils.

Dr Slim
10-08-06, 22:12
I'm not a newbie (I've been to the Phils more than 20x) and I am not concerned with what all the airlines do. I know the rules with Immigration and the $1000.00 fine. If you read my post carefully, you would have learned that PAL had evidence of my outbound ticket in their computer (why did they have the evidence, its only because they sold me that outbound ticket) but refused to PRINT ME A COPY which would have allowed me to get a boarding pass and go back to Phils. INSTEAD, they were happy to SELL me a new ticket which they knew was not 100% refundable. It seemed to me that they were happy with my misfortune and joyfull at the chance to make 50 free dollars rather than provide customer service to a passenger with over 100,000 miles flown with them. They knew I was not scamming them, they knew I had an outbound ticket bought and paid for. The girl at PAL Thailand went so far as to say that this situation happens all the time. So that means that they created a policy of refusing to print a copy so they can benifit by the problems of others. Fuck PAL. They are true examples of the 3rd world. They will cut off their nose to eat today despite their actions leading to eating less tomorow. If they rfuse to do business in a more customer oriented western style, then they will reap what they sow.

When it comes to doing business in the Phils, I have gotten that one generally shouldn't assume anything if one can help it. Do it by the book, have all your documents with you and things tend to go better. That was my experience.

Dr Slim, your point is well taken, only I have no reason to hate on PAL: I booked an RT ticket online with them and due to an emergency, I had to change the departure at the last minute. Called them by phone, they said you have to contact via email because the ticket was bought online. So I emailed, they replied the ticket was non-rebookable, etc. I said, WTF? The rules listed for that ticket on the web said it was rebookable. So I printed that page and went to the ticket office at Centennial. They said the same thing, but did redirect me to a manager in the Makati office who they said had the authority to make a change. The Makati office manager and her staff were quite non-plussed because the fare code to them signaled a non-rebookable ticket, yet I was showing them the fare rules that said it was. They even had me login to my account and show them that again. Something I see they would not do for you. Long story short, the whole thing took 3 hours, they ran me through a bunch of fees, etc., it cost about $78, but I was able to change the flight.

I just booked on Cebu Pacific - Hongkong Manila Hong Kong - on their internet site. Each leg was HK$400, plus HK$387.16 tax etc for total $1,187.16. At least HK$600 cheaper than what I could have gotten on PI. Also, each leg of the journey is booked sepaqrately with different prices posted for different time/date etc. ranging from this $400 to $1,000 per leg.
The booking has been OK - but the question is - what is the actual flight going to be??!! Anybody have any info/experience to pass along for this budget airline - i.e. can I expect not to be served anything, is it going to be chock-a-block with chattering Domestic helpers, are the seats going to be back breakers, is the airplane going to be held together with bailing wire....????
Also, have sent them an e-mail asking if they will allow me to bring my golf bag ON TOP OF the 20KG free baggage allowance - believe that this is the case for most other airlines? Of course have not yet received a reply!!
Any input would be much appreciated

This has always been the case for me when flying to the Philippines from either the USA, Hong Kong or Korea on as many as 6 different air lines. In the past you may have been purchasing a round trip ticket and therefore they did not ask you this question. Had you purchased a one way ticket to the PI before this situation? If so I would find that odd based on my experience.

In the "past" I purchased roundtrip, and on "THIS" trip I purchased roundtrip.

Yes Dr. Slim, I understood what you are saying...

You say that you purchased a round trip ticket from some destination to the PI. Then while in the PI you purchased a round trip ticket to another destination. Once there you then wanted to return to the PI on your round trip ticket, but they wanted to see your outbound ticket leaving the PI. You could not produce this and even though your outbound ticket leaving the PI was on PAL and you were flying on PAL to the PI you are upset that PAL would not even look it up and see that you had thiss outbound ticket.

It may be that PAL is way behind all other airlines when it comes to paperless travel or electronic travel. At least they were the last time I flew with them a few years ago. The last time I flew with PAL, and I guess it is still the same, they were the only airline that I knew that would take your reservation for a fight over the phone, but you could not purchase the ticket and there was no requirement to hold the reservation with a credit card. No confirmation number either. You could not purchase the ticket ahead of time. Only at the airport or at one of their offices could you purchase the ticket.

You show up and your reservation is there under your name. So I am guessing that their internal operations are not even capable of doing what you were asking for, but I am not sure of course.

Wading through 100's of messages to try to get a feeling for what's best options for my trip to Manila and then on to Boracay. Have been to Manila once before and had a great time in Makati. The plan this time is to spend 3 to 4 nights in Manila possibly to find a bed friend to take onto to Boracay. Suggestions on the top 10 places to go in Manila to find great talent would be appreciated.

Cebu: Email or phone to see what is on their HK-Mla flight. They are ok on things like that.

PAL: is an arrogant airline run by a well connected Chinese guy. They do as they please, fly when they like and treat you like shit. Exercise care with them. Cebu cannot undercut htem on domestic flights or Pal's pals will zap them.

Firstly, for airline reviews check out skytrax.com, but anyway back to what we are here for…

Spent one evening in EDSA recently. Very easy to find if you tell the taxi driver EDSA/Roxas (“ed-sah”/”roh-hass”) and look for the Heritage diagonally across the road.

Went into Bullets & Arrows first. Some real talent up on the stage as well as sitting down around tables on the right hand side of the bar. Tables were all free on the left side so sat at one. It was a Monday night so only a couple of customers, plus was still only four days after the recent typhoon.

After a few minutes the atmosphere, or lack of, started to get to me however. There was very little eye contact from the girls sitting around the tables, and none at all from the stage. They all looked thoroughly bored, as if they would rather be anywhere else. Could not blame them and started to feel the same myself so headed into Firehouse.

Firehouse was instantly better, with a large number of girls and a much better atmosphere. I made friends with one of the mamasans, who was happy to give me space and take my time to pick a ‘special friend’. I must say it was hard choosing, so in the end started chatting to one who had sat down in front of me and flashed a couple of smiles. She was quite petite and cute, however there were a large number of ‘types’ in this place, something to please everyone really.

A drink and P1,000 barfine later and we were in the taxi off to my hotel in Makati (1 hour there at 10pm, 20mins back after midnight). Despite the GFE appearance in the bar service was pretty disappointing, however. Functional, no passion and complaining of starting to hurt after not very long (yeah right). Don’t like to continue in case they really are suffering so stopped after that. If service had been better I had hoped she would stay into the next day, however she was keen to leave. Offered P1,000 tip considering we hadn’t really finished, however she was none to pleased with that so ended up giving another P500.

Not a great experience but I can say I’ve done EDSA. Stayed in Makati the next couple of nights, separate post in the relevant thread coming shortly…

Hello Joe,

As far as I know Cebu Pacific, my carrier of choice, is not a discount airline. That flight is not too bad considering they used older equipment. Last time I flew them, the plane was only half filled and since that flight is < 2 hours long, they will only serve juice and some munchies. To relieve the boredom, the flight attendants play games with the passengers and the winners take home prizes (ballcaps and t-shirts). In Manila, I was upgraded to first class just for being nice to the ticketing lady. I'm not sure about their excess baggage policy but it should not be too much of a problem. The real hassle is if your flying on to another destination in the P.I. because you must shuttle to the domestic terminal.

Happy Landings

When I was in Manila, I flew to Cebu for about $65 round trip on Cebu Pacific. The same flight on PAL was $79. It was a newer aircraft. These were the fares I found on their websites at that time.

I just booked on Cebu Pacific - Hongkong Manila Hong Kong - on their internet site. Each leg was HK$400, plus HK$387.16 tax etc for total $1,187.16. Also, each leg of the journey is booked sepaqrately with different prices posted for different time/date etc. ranging from this $400 to $1,000 per leg.

SE Asia JoeI've flown Cebu Pacific several times in the past year. From Manila to Cebu and from Manila to CDO. All of the flights I've taken have been on brand new planes (Airbus A319 or A320). Flight attendents are fun (and of course cute), they try to entertain with trivia games for Cebu Pacific themed prizes. Planes are reasonably comfortable for economy class, I try to get the exit row for some more leg room. HK to PI is less than 3 hours, so I'd only expect beverage and snacks.

I did have the same issue with response to email inquiry. They are not internet savvy.

This happend to me only once before I wised up (had to buy a ticket, and then go and get a refund. Pain in the fucking ass.) I Then Edited my Continetal domestic e-ticket and changed it into a Jetstar E-ticket for an outbound Philippines flight one year in advance. I keep it permanently with my passport, and changed the date one year ahead when the flight had come up, and just printed out a new one. So, it's 30 minutes for the first year, 5 minutes for each subsequent year. For frequent Philippines travelers, it is time well spent.

It's not that great a place. It's an easy walk diagonally across the street to EDSA, which is the best thing about it, but the service isn't very good and the rooms are run down. On the other hand, it's not a dive and it's a good location, with lots of taxis out front on EDSA all the time.

I have done a search on Cherry Blossoms hotel. It received mostly good reviews from people that have stayed there. Since they have no website and you have to call to make a reservation for a room, I just would like to asked for more feedback from people that have stayed there recently. First, are there any problem with the hotel as far as being clean, also how far would I need to make the phone reservation? Thanks

I've stayed at the Cherry Blossoms more than 15 times in the past 5 years, and will stay there again in my future visits. It's gone through a lot of growth over that time. They have added two more floors, remodeled the others. I've had my ups and downs with them, but they are a fine hotel that only gotten better and better over the years. I would recommend the place to anyone. It's within a 1 minute walk to Robinson's Mall and less than a 5 minute walk to all the clubs and bars of interest in Ermita. Make your reservation through email at blossoms@i-manila.com.ph and ask for the special, it was Php1250 then went to Php1375, I'm not so sure what it is today, but it's always been a great value in Ermita for the location. By the way, the place has always been clean when I stayed there, very courtesy staff no matter how many different ladies you bring in, security always call if the lady leaves alone and breakfast for 2 free. Stay there you won't regret it.

Yes, Cebu Pacific Airlines does have a web site, actually very good:

http://www.cebupacificair.com

The problems are you won't get 20kg as with most international airlines.

Also if there is a delay at the airport your plane will wait.

Reason as they are a budget airline the majors get first preference on takeoff.

Hope this helps

I agree that the location is terrific, but I dislike the hotel. I always review my bills fairly carefully, and once when checking out of there, I noticed that the hotel was charging me for movies, mini bar consumption and I think a couple of meals, none of which actually happened. I went crazy. They said they would bill my company directly. I called my company and instructed the accountant not to pay the bill, walked out and have never stayed there again.

I would suggest to those to those who stay there to review your bills carefully as the same thing could happen to you. I doubt that mine was an isolated case.

I booked it through a travel agency to get a much better rate and paid the travel agency (they came to collect at noon on the day I checked out). I did leave a card imprint for incidentals but had no problem at all. My friend stays there one week each month (on business) and never mentioned that problem which could happen at any hotel. Copacabana next door has the same great location but is a step down in quality but still fine for me. Around the corner from Heritage is Kenny Rogers Roasters which has some of the best roasted chicken I've ever had (Nothing like KFC!).

One thing I did not find was an internet cafe nearby (business center in hotel is surely a ripoff, don't even need to ask). Mall of Asia is the place to hang in the daytime anyway.

Just got back from diving in Phillipine so had a 1 night wait until my flight. I stayed at the famous Peninsula Hotel in their newly renovated Makati tower. The room was pretty nice, not as large as I would have thought(35 sq meters). It did come with a nice large Plasma tv and free Internet and 2 breakfast. I had a local friend booked it for me and it worked out great. Booking through Expedia (more expensive at $200 USD)will get you the not yet renovated Ayala tower and no Internet or breakfast. For those who like to check out the famous and infamous peronage, Imelda Marcos and the mayor of Makati was at the lobby on Saturday night.

Of course I had to sample the equally famous/infamous Airforce one. The whole complex is basically structured like a Thai soapy. Which means it houses the girls and rooms where you get the "massage". Checked out both the Economy Lineup(2nd floor) and the Business/First Class Lineup(1st floor) of girls behinds a curtain. I thought the Economy looked about the same as the Business/1st fishbowl, however went with the Business class package since I am used to the 1.5 hour format. It's funny in that I requested to check out the rooms for the Business and 1st class rooms. However, after I paid for my package of 5,0000 peso(2,500 room, 2,500 girl) they switched room on me. I was ushered into a tiny room about half the size of the Business class room I was showned. I had to asked them twice (since they showed another identical room) before getting the original room I was showned.

The service of the girl (named Ezra) was ok. She was nice(she said she is 18), with a slim build, no tits at all. She started with a simple massage of my shoulders and ribcage then stopped! I turned over and she gave me a perfunctory back massage. She then turned and asked me "what's next?" Not being an idiot. I said "SEX". I kissed her tits and was attempting DATY when I noticed a strong odor so I asked her to wash. Forget about the DATY! After she washed she put on the condom then went directly to do a cowgirl. No BJ, no warm up just went straight to the sex. I been diving for a week with no female companion so I was ready for the action. Switched over to a doggy so I could ram it into her real good. After I came she took the condom off and went for a wash. I went for a steam in the portable steam unit and a shower. After about 5 minutes she asked what time it is and is it time up already...etc. I think we were only 1 hour into the session. I never liked to force them to stay so I said let's go. I gave her a small tip of 500 peso since she was nice, not the usually apathetic service.

I thought the experience at Airforce one was ok. It was certainly not anywhere as nice as the best soapy in Bangkok. Manila also must have the most obnoxious and corrupt taxi drivers in the world. EVERY one of the jerks wanted to show me a girl and EVERY one of them ripped me off. They think it is their God given right to rip you off. In IMHO Manila reminds me of one big favela(slum), even in Makati everything just seems to have a gleam of dirt surrounding it. Really sad, since I really think alot of the Filippinas are really hot.

Anyway in summary:

Airforce one: 6.5, (not busy, and not really great talent and the rooms are so so) watch out for the room switcheroo.

Peninsula Hotel: 7, (Due to the renovation you do not know what kind of room you will get. The staff are friendly except for the reception staff who are idiots)

Mongering in Manila: 6, based only on 1 night experience of p4p. However, I think if you put some time into it you should get some really nice freebies. If I was living there I would tried to get the hell out so I think the girls would be more amenable to your advances.

JUst got back from Manila and as promised am now giving you my report. Instead of the Heritage, I got booked into the Robinsons Apartelle - and Jeez - its pretty bad! The price was OK I guess - PP2,300/day and the room WAS huge with a fully equiped kitchenette - but it was really old and run down! It's right next to the Robinson Mall - so it was conveneint for meals etc - but besides that - ZIP!
Besides being all tied up in work, staying at this place really was NOT conducive to my enjoying the hobby. There was even a long list of HOUSE RULES that they give you when you check in - including a charge of PP250 for guests staying after midnight, PLUS a Daily "Good Morning, Room check" loud knock on the door at 8:30 am! NUTSO! I've never stayed anywhere in Asia where this happens - totally crazy.
OK, in the evening there is usually 3 or 4 girls sitting around the tiny lobby - just waiting - and the security guy were there practically to market these gals. OK, I did 'partake' once while there - but the whole process was just so clinical and sterile that I really never got in the mood at all. None of the partying, going round drinking and chatting and getting oneself into the mood - just order the gals, make your choice and away we go! Actually a pretty good looking girl with a really good body - plus a real spinner in bed. But I just could not get into the mood and it was a true "pure biological" experience. Yowitxch!! PP3,000 and had to pay the Mommy prior to the action - a pure waste of money.

I just returned from two and a half weeks in the Philippines. The Philippines had been my old stopping grounds starting 20 years ago but I hadn’t mongered in Manila for 15 years and I had never been to Samar ( the source of most of the girls in Angeles City) and Leyte only once so this is breaking somewhat new ground for me, which I enjoyed immensely. I will report on each area separately.

Manila

Airport Arrival and Transfers.

The international airport in Manila is surprisingly run well. Where one is obliged to spend too much in my opinion is in your transfer from the airport to your hotel. If you buy a taxi coupon as you exit the airport on your left, since November 2005 the price has been raised from 350 pesos to 530 pesos to Ermita the home of the infamous LA Café. Even though in foreigner money this is not much, I find it offensive because if I catch a metered taxi from Ermita to the airport it will only cost me around 130 pesos plus a tax of 30 pesos for the taxi exiting the airport.

The alternatives when arriving are either in the 530 or 600 peso range which is a coupon taxi or a pre-organised hotel vehicle transfer or taking a risk with your luggage and walking out onto the public road and flagging down a metered cab. I opted for the coupon method on the way to my hotel and the metered taxi from my hotel back to the airport. It seemed to be the smarted way to go.

I had not mongered in Manila since the Marcos and Aquino regimes so it was a re-discovery for me and man what a blast it turned out to be!

Hotels

There is a countless amount of options in the area of Ermita for accommodation from 500 pesos to 4000 pesos per night and more. 1 star to 5 stars are available within a few blocks of LA Café. Take a walk around in the morning in Mabini Street and Del Pilar Street and pop into any hotel that tickles your fancy and ask.

I stubbled by chance before arriving to Manila on an arrangement the Gpoint bar has with several hotels in the area. If you contact Myles from Gpoint via email, she will reserve a room for you in one of the hotels on her list and you will save 25% and more on the standard room rates. I opted to stay at the City State Tower Hotel in Mabini Street, which in my opinion is a 4 star hotel for the Philippines and a superior double room including 2 breakfasts went from 1,950 pesos per night down to 1,500 per night through Gpoint bar. Gpoints email address and phone number can be easily found on the internet.

Low price Mongering areas of Manila

Divisoria Mall, Baclaran Markets and Smoky Mountain Slums.

The locals get pussy for as low as 50 to 200 pesos a pop in the area around Divisoria Mall, Baclaran Markets and if you like to live life on the edge, Smoky Mountain Slum areas but I don’t suggest you go walking around that area alone LOL. If you are interested in taking a look as I was, hire a taxi per hour. This will cost you around 200 pesos per hour and lock your doors and have the driver take you around to these areas which have a lot of cheap street walkers at night. Most of these girls don’t speak much English and have never been with a foreigner. Still it can be fun for something different.

Cheap KTV’s

On the way to the domestic airport not far from Roxas Boulevard is a street with about 40 lower class KTV bars. They call it the “Air force 1” area. Be VERY careful of your belongings there and don’t go down any back streets to which there are many unless you are going in a group of Filipino friends. Stick to the main street and you can have some fun. None of the many girls sitting outside and inside will openly admit to having sex with you as this is not a take out situation with the girls here. You need to book a VIP room on the premises and the girls will then put out in the room. BJ’s and sex is normal. The prices range from 500 per hour to 1,200 pesos for 1.5 hours including drinks and girls. This area has the cheapest beer I have seen in Manila at 26 pesos a San Mig light bottle. I am more of a take out kind of guy so even though I had a bisexual female guide on this night and we did get into some fun with the girls in the VIP room, I would have preferred to have taken them to my hotel. The girls will openly give you their cell phone numbers and meet you after work so that is an option.

Medium Price Mongering in Manila

The Asia Entertainment Complex.

I was very pleasantly surprised at the positive reactions I got from the girls at the Asia Entertainment Complex. I had heard that these girls were very expensive but once you know the game, this is not the case.

The bar fine is only 1,000 pesos per girl, very reasonable and the tip which is paid directly to the girl, is negotiated in advance but not paid till the end. This is where the game is played. The standard asking for a short time is from 1 to 3 hours is 2,500 pesos and a over night tip asking is 4,000 pesos but this is what we in my country call a “Mugs price.” If you are to rich, or dumb or in a hurry, this is the price you will pay, for the rest of us, things are different. As always, having some game and making the girls laugh has a great reducing effect on the tip price which is fully negotiable (surprise, surprise LOL). I chatted to my girl for a while having fun and she told me she had not had a bar fine in over one week and she really needed money and she liked me (WOW I never heard that one before LOL). We chatted and joked and I bought her one ladies drink for 190 pesos. We finally agreed to 2,000 pesos tip for all night, not bad I though for a very classy place like this. She ended up staying half the next day at no extra charge and I ended up having to ask her to leave or she would have stayed all day because it was her day off. The girls here are generally very attractive and clean so you can expect to pay a bit more than say LA Café where they are all freelance.

Ermita Area

Well here is where things get interesting for me. It was my old stopping grounds almost 20 years ago and I had not been back since. Walking down Del Pilar Street, brought memories back and tears to my eyes. It used to be like Fields Avenue in Angeles City back then. Now it has about only about 10 bars total and only 4 or 5 reasonable ones. I understand Mayor Lim closed the bars down in the 1990’s for some strange reason. All those years ago I stayed at the Corona Hotel when it was just opened 2 weeks. It used to have a huge round marble Jacuzzi in your room and a round bed. Those were the days lol. The bar fine back then was 500 pesos. I guess it has not gone up that much in 20 years as it is now 1,000 pesos.

Well I have to confirm those reports that have come before mine on this forum that LA Café is Ermita and without it there may be no mongering in Ermita, well at least not at the current level.

A little bird told me that LA Café was recently closed for one month while they negotiated a bribe with the Mayors office. They finally settled on 4.5 million pesos my sources tell me.

As you enter LA, in the smaller room to your right, there are 3 Mamma sans working. They generally negotiate for some of the younger girls and get a commission from the girls. These Mamma sans are not on LA’s pay roll. This room on the right seems to be where the much sort after Japanese customers hang out in the afternoons and early evenings. There is a group of around 20 young and pretty girls that specialise in Japanese customers only! The Japanese pay a flat fee of 2,500 pesos short time, other foreigners are asked only 1,500 short time and 2,000 all night, now you can see why the Japanese are sort after by the girls, that and the fact that the girls tell me that Japs have small dicks and cum quickly which makes the girls job easy and fast.

I put the theory that these girls will only go with Japs to the test on several occasions and was surprised by the result. I approached some VERY hot teenagers who specialise in Japanese customers and offered them the same rate as the Japanese pay 2,500 short time. I was shocked when I was refused by every single on of these girls! They wouldn’t even make eye contact with me or talk to me because I was not Japanese. This was a challenge to me and I love challenges. It took me several days to break into this clicky group. I found that there is a Filipina food shop across the street where chicken and rice cost only 45 pesos and the girls seem to love it. I formulated a plan and picked 2 of the young girls that seem to wield some power and respect over the other girls. I asked them each night if they were hungry or thirsty. After the third night they caved in and accepted a drink and then we went over the road to eat the 45-peso meal lol. Well let me tell you, once this happened ALL of the 20 Japanese specialist girls were suddenly my best friends lol. Even the Mamma sans and the waitresses told me they had never seen these girls friendly and flirting with a non-Japanese man and we were all surprised. Suddenly the floodgates opened and I was the flavour of the month with these very hot young girls sitting all over me every night and groping me and allowing me to grope them and it became a competition for them who was going to sleep with me first. I must admit their pussies were particularly tight compared to some other girls I had in LA as they had not had much experience with non-Japanese men before. It was also notably painful sex for these girls with me even if I was gentle. By the way, I also negotiated the prices down to the usual 1,500 with them as they were now my friends and my money didn’t seem to matter too much at this stage to these girls. Every night when I arrived in LA I was hugged, kissed and greeted by this big group of hot girls. A few times people made jokes and said I must be their new Pappasan lol.

I found the secret to LA is patience. Sit in a position where you can see all the girls as they move around. I sat away from the main bar but close to the girls bathroom so that I got a look at every girl at some point as she went to freshen up. If you wait long enough you will have a choice of around 5 to 10 stunners that in my opinion are between an 8 and 10. Be patient and wait till the right one comes in then strike fast. I had a girl I was interested in come and flirt with me and cuddles etc and she was a 9.5 for sure and I hesitated and lost her to an other guy that night in about 5 minutes. In LA more than anywhere, the saying “He who hesitates is lost” is sooooo true.

Regular girls in LA.

As LA is 24/7 and never closes, I found that girls were cheapest in the early mornings between 6am and say 10am. At this time, the girls remaining had not had a bar fine and were getting desperate. Some are very attractive at this time of the day but most are not. I was offered 500 to 1,000 pesos short time regularly during these hours and the girls stayed as long as I wanted at no extra charge.

In the mid afternoon and through the night the prices seem be 1,500 short time and 2,000 all night but I found that not too many girls are willing to go all night early in the evening. Again, I got to know the girls as I do on all my mongering trips and then the price was really “up to me” lol. I found once I had bought them a 45 pesos chicken and rice meal, they would go with me almost out of obligation and money was not the deciding factor at that time.

I befriended as many of the “Queen bees” as I call the girls who wield power in a place as I could and I got looked after more than I could imagine. In fact one girl I bar find txt me the next day and asked if she and her bisexual friend could come over for an afternoon session and a meal and taxi money was all they wanted. Of corse I said yes and it was a real blast. They were right into it and each other with anal as well which surprised me!

Other bars in Ermita

There are several other bars in Del Pilar Street such as Amazonia’s which I didn’t like much as it charges more than LA’s for everything. It does have a small hotel upstairs if you wish to stay there. By chance, I stumbled on where the Amazonia girls live. I went around the corner in the side street to get a haircut and while I was the several of the girls from Amazonia came in and out and went upstairs. I asked the gay hairdresser what the story was and he said he had 10 room above his shop that he rented to the girls for 100 pesos per day. He also told me the names of the girls who were behind on the rent and indicated that if I agreed to pay their short fall, (only a few hundred pesos) he would convince them to sleep with me for free as they all owed him favours lol. I took him up on that offer on 2 occasions and he was true to his word.

Well I am sure I could write many more pages but most other info has already been written on this subject by those great mongers who have walked this path before me.

More about Samar and Leyte and Angeles City to come.

Enjoy.

For frequent Philippines travelers, it is time well spent.I flew Tiger Airways last year on a one way from Singapore to Clark and they made me sign a waiver saying that they were not responsible and that I had to acknowledge that Philippines Immigrations may not let me into the country. Of course, immigrations didn't check for an outbound ticket.

I am going to the Phils from the US in a couple of day on a one way ticket, but I bought a Tiger Airways out bound E-ticket to Singapore online. I fly back to the US from Singapore.

Dr. Slim, did you have a printed itinerary on you that showed your return ticket to the US? Maybe that would have been enough for them to give you a boarding pass. I seems that many people in Asia work exactly to the rules and have little to no capacity to bend them. Adhering to the rules is much more important than pleasing the customer. Before the flames arrive, this is of course a generalization. Comments/experiences pro and con would be welcome.

As many members have contacted me regarding your interest in Leyte and Samar, I am advising that I have posted my report on Leyte in the "Other Areas" Forum of the Philippines.

Enjoy.

Can anyone share some information on air travel options between Manila and Saigon? Any discount carriers (besides Cebu or Tiger indirect flights) or promotions?

The only Airline flying between Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City and Manila are Vietnam Airlines and PAL.

PAL & VN are way overpriced fro that short flight MNl-SGN. One of the budget carriers is serving Hanoi, but Haoi to SGN is 2 hours flying time and almost $200RT so not a viable option. VN is becoming a partner with American so you may be able to use Advantage miles. PAL is the worst piece of shit in the air in every respect.
