PAL is the worst piece of shit in the air in every respect.Experienced travelers understand the best airline to fly in and out of MNL is Philippine Airlines. Their fares are usually lower than competition. If you become a frequent flier, they often will give you a free upgrade without even asking. I also have fly with PAL last year for the first and the last time , I fly about 10
time a year for business ,I think they have the worst service in the industry,they also damadge my luggage and only paid me $15 usd for a $120 luggage .

Would have to agree with Fast Eddie and Surfer in that PAL is not fit to be flown. For years they have been propped up by the government and benefited from lack of competition.
I flew Tiger Airways last year on a one way from Singapore to Clark and they made me sign a waiver saying that they were not responsible and that I had to acknowledge that Philippines Immigrations may not let me into the country. Of course, immigrations didn't check for an outbound ticket.
Never been checked for an outbound ticket but will test immigration next month as I'm not sure of my itinerary the last few days of my trip. If I get hassled, I will by a ticket on the spot. As long as your out of the country in the alloted time, there shouldn't be any problems.

Travel Day:
Wow, what a day, actually a day plus. It took about 26hrs to get there I almost missed my flight from lax to Tokyo, because I only had one hr to change terminals and go through security.
The Phoenix airport was terrible, I got there 2 hrs before the flight, and it was like Christmas. I barley made that flight to. It was a couple of stressful plane boarding. I finally made it to Manila after about 26 hrs of total time. Then got to Manila, and shear terror came over me I am finally here. Thinking of the worst of course. But it was really easy, went through immigration, customs, and then got a taxi to my hotel. I did the coupon thing for the taxi 440 pesos, which seemed like kind of a rip off. Since, the trip back to the airport only cost like 170 pesos.
Burgos:
The taxi ride was the wildest ride of my life. They don't have traffic laws in ph I guess and they must not need to take a test. They just drive in the middle of the lane change lanes almost hitting other cars. One time he was going to make a left hand turn, and there where 5 cars lined up parallel to turn left into 2 lanes. I was holding the door and pressing the passenger brake the whole time. But we made it here safe. Actually the whole trip I did not see one car wreck. So I guess they are good at driving badly
My hotel was a pleasant surprise; it is on the 20th floor over looking the whole city. Smells like bad pollution thou. It was City Garden Hotel on 7870 Makati Ave. The hotel was perfect, the staff was really friendly room was Better then most hotels i stayed at in the us. The only complaint i had was they charged me for the buffet breakfast, which I thought was free with the room. It was 1200 pesos for 2 people and the pancakes where always cold. But still not bad, I think I paid like $56 a night.
After arriving at the hotel I wanted to go to the internet cafe and see who won the football games. The girls on the street where amazingly hot. It was like being on a college campus and every hot girl asks you for a massage. I was kind of scared at first. So I went to cafe 88, and it was full of more hot girls. I must admit I was horny looking at all the hotties. I did not want a disease but dam I never seen hookers this hot in my life. There was a pimp in there trying to hook me up with some of the girls. For $56/night, City Garden should have included the breakfast. What kind of room did you get? Next time, get that in writing. When I was there, I paid 2900php including tax, service charge and breakfast for an "executive superior" room. This was a promotional rate that was supposedly not available through online booking. I did a search on the net under "Sytotec" and it came up as an abortion drug designed for such a purpose. I am not sure if Cytotec is exactly them same drug as it say it "may" cause abortion.

Compare this post to Prov's posts about PAL earlier this year (before he was banned) and they are virtually identical.
I flew PAL MANY times in the 90s because they had the only nonstops from SFO to MNL (although unscheduled stops in HNL happened too frequently for my taste). They sucked then and they suck now; only airline on Earththat cannot sell a ticket on the internet (you must go to a PAL office with your credit card to "confirm" the ticket). PAL smiles, their mileage program, has no partners and is a joke. They still owe me a refubnd from 1994. I could go on and on. IMHO PAL is to be avoided at all costs.

FYI I am not in the PI's now and have been home for 3 weeks. The money changers on Mabini street have a reputation for being cheats, but I would extend this advice of my experience to all money changers.
On my last visit I stayed at the Cherry Blossoms hotel. On my way to LA Cafe I needed a peso recharge, so stopped into the first shop on the corner - Stars Money Changer. There was an old woman behind the gate who called me "friend" as I walked in the door. Anytime someone calls me "friend" in the Philippines, I put my guard up.
She quotes a rate that I know is reasonable, so give her $200 to exchange. She disappears into the back and tells me to sit down and wait... my guard goes up a notch. After 5min of waiting - and her not coming back - I yell for her to come out. She finally saunters out and has my cash.
This is how they try to scam you... Never just pick up the money and go! I took the money and SLOWLY began to count it in front of her. The count comes up 1000 pesos short. I say, "You are short by 1000" and hand the money back. As I see her taking the money, I see her slip down another 1000. As soon as I see the switch, I quickly grabbed back the wad of money. She screams "Give me another 200." I racked her arm against the cage and she let go. Again, counted the money, called her a fucking thief, and left. That's the scam: If you allow them to count the money for you, the count will come out right and then they will do a quick change to take out a large bill as they hand the money back.
I came back the next day and took the attached pic. It's really too bad that there are so many of these scam places. I came back the next day and used the Ichiban Money Changer across the street without any problem.
You will also see guys walking around Mabini and the mall offering exchange. They have pieces of paper with rates for major currencies about 2-3% above rate. If you go with them, they will take you to a quick change place for sure. They will call you "friend" as they try to take your money too! Beware always, AR+
The BESTAND MOST HONEST MONEYCHANGER IN ALL OF THE PI is in Malate. I would NEVER change cash anywhere else (although nowadays I mostly use ATMS but I have used this place for years, including two months ago, and NEVER got shortchanged a single Piso (plus they give great rates).
Go to Malate Pension in Malate (1 block North of Remedios Circle) then keep going North and turn left into the first alley. About 20 yards down on your right you will come to another alley and the building on the corner has a yellow Western union sign. Ring the buzzer and they will buzz you through the two sequential gates as you walk up the stairs. They take a break and close in the afternoons so hours can be a bit irregular.
Blastoff: yes you are right, but I worry that some contributors have a thin skin and can be deterred from posting by the flames of the loosers which is why I make such an effort, and take such flak, to keep them contained in the FightClub.

When I was young and foolish (also greedy) I tried it and lost $30. Went I went back looking for the guy I met up with some Russians who lost all their money $1700. This was around 1993, so you can imagine how bad they were hurt.
Play it safe in Manila, you may want to take the low exchage rate at hotels.
The money changers on Mabini street have a reputation for being cheats, but I would extend this advice of my experience to all money changers.
On my last visit I stayed at the Cherry Blossoms hotel. On my way to LA Cafe I needed a peso recharge, so stopped into the first shop on the corner - Stars Money Changer. There was an old woman behind the gate who called me "friend" as I walked in the door. Anytime someone calls me "friend" in the Philippines, I put my guard up.
She quotes a rate that I know is reasonable, so give her $200 to exchange. She disappears into the back and tells me to sit down and wait... my guard goes up a notch. After 5min of waiting - and her not coming back - I yell for her to come out. She finally saunters out and has my cash.
This is how they try to scam you... Never just pick up the money and go! I took the money and SLOWLY began to count it in front of her. The count comes up 1000 pesos short. I say, "You are short by 1000" and hand the money back. As I see her taking the money, I see her slip down another 1000. As soon as I see the switch, I quickly grabbed back the wad of money. She screams "Give me another 200." I racked her arm against the cage and she let go. Again, counted the money, called her a fucking thief, and left. That's the scam: If you allow them to count the money for you, the count will come out right and then they will do a quick change to take out a large bill as they hand the money back.
I came back the next day and took the attached pic. It's really too bad that there are so many of these scam places. I came back the next day and used the Ichiban Money Changer across the street without any problem.
You will also see guys walking around Mabini and the mall offering exchange. They have pieces of paper with rates for major currencies about 2-3% above rate. If you go with them, they will take you to a quick change place for sure. They will call you "friend" as they try to take your money too! Beware always, AR+
My 10 cents worth.
If I go into a moneychanger for the first time, I NEVER hand them my money until I am holding and have counted their money. I show them my money from the window of the cage at the start, then I tell them how much it is then I put my money in my top pocket. After they have counted their money, handed it to me and I have counted it to my satisfaction, I then hand them the money from my top pocket. They will ask for my money first but I just smile and shake my head. I have only been refused exchange using this method once in the Philippines and I know that any one who will refuse me is out to rip me off for sure as tourist never rip off money changers so they have nothing to fear.
In Indonesia I have been refused by 50% of the moneychangers using this method because there they are more dishonest and are only out to rip me off.
My way sorts out the honest moneychangers from the dishonest ones as I have shown them my money and told them how much I want. If they refuse I know I would be in for trouble if I dealt with them so I go to an other moneychanger.
It works for me.
ATM's are the way to go these days. The exchange rate is better than most money changers and it is 100% secure.

That's indeed an interesting technique and maybe next time I will give it a try! But basically I tend to agree with Surfer. At least I never faced any problem with the moneychangers in Ermita/Malate for more than 20 years.
However, I would highly recommend to compare the different exchange rates first.

I solved that problem 2 years ago by opening a peso bank account at BPI. I progressivly deposit funds between trips. last week i deposited 30k pesos which cost me NZD927.93 (32.33) PLUS TRANSFER CHARGES OF $25.11.
According to FX Converter the PHP to NZD rate is currently 030.17.
With a bank the size of BPI no problem getting money anywhere or very late at night provided the ATM hasnt run out of pera.

How is that even possible with a guard and an assistant on the door, people behind the cage and a few other Filipinos friends outside and inside the shop. How stupid must the foreigner be and how far would he get before they shot him if he tried to make a run for it?
The Philippines is not the place to play these games. The gangsters and the Police will tear you apart. I guess you have hear the word "salvage" in Tagalog? That is where the Police kill you while in custody. Happens a lot. Don't go there. Not worth the few thousand pesos you think you are going to get away with.

So I guess I only have one chance to get a girl in this hotel, the first girl I take I guess I will have to register her as the guest in the hotel.
This is a real problem, as I have one pre-arranged for meeting me tomorrow night. But if I bring someone up tonight, I will have to register them. Sucks.
Scoped out the stairwell for bringing them up unseen, not really possible.

The hotel lobby is at the 9th floor. All hotels rooms are on higher floors. The 2 elevators on the ground floor go directly to any floor you want. You dont have to pass by the hotel lobby. The only drawback is that you will only get ONE free breakfast, because you did not register the 2nd guest. Will this be a big deal? Also dont know if your booking comes w/ free breakfast or not.

Used to hate the long lines in Sanrys money changers etc. Then finally got wise. Have an HSBC account in HK and KL. Realised that my ATM would work in these places and have never had a problem since with dubious rates or US$100 bills rejected or all the other hassles. Thanks HSBC. Worlds local bank!
...was quite busy around midnight, easily a hundred girls and I did not even go check the dance floor upstairs. A few did look quite good but no real stunners, I suppose you have to go to the Makati clubs for that. Ended up with a duo at almost 3AM, they made the first move, I did not look further, agreed to 1,500 pesos each without bargaining, good service and they stayed overnight. I usually don't like 2 girls, as one of them once told me, double the money, half the work, it is mostly a bargain for the girls. Oh well.

I think the bars you mention are on Burgos street in Makati -- a place I rarely go to, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
You also mention Heritage Hotel. There is one on EDSA blvd and Roxas, not far form the EDSA Entertainment Complex. This is in Pasay city. Maybe there is one in Makati too, but not sure about that.
I think I would start out at EDSA Entertainment, but regardless, get an early start if you want that stunner. Considering drinks, barfine, tips, meals, you'd probably be getting pretty close to 10k. Everything is more expensive in Makati. (Tell the taxi driver to take you to Burgos Street).
Not sure what you mean when you say, "don't need to bargain". I usually don't talk money with the ladies, but if you want her all night you might want to confirm that before you pay the bar fine.

You mention youare staying at the old Hyatt. I was looking on the Hyatt website yesterday and from 31 December this year Hyatt Corp will no longer manage that property so try to find out which hotel group will be taking over the lease.

The reason I am staying there by the way, is because right now Hyatt has a "Mastercard" promotion described on their web-site, which provides a free night in any Hyatt worldwide after every 2 stays at a Hyatt paid for with a mastercard. Manila is probably one of the best places to take advantage of this promo, $100/n at the Hyatt Casino and $80/n at the old Hyatt, after 1 night in each you can stay for free at a $200 or $300/night hotel anywhere in the world, not a bad deal at all and worth switching hotels in the middle of your stay. Plus as you said the old Hyatt is near EDSA.
As far as the girl's fee for 1 night, it varies widely, I have seen girls ask for 1500 and others frown at 4000. I usually do not go above 4000, except if that is included in the barfine like at MU. When I picked up a girl at Flamingo yesterday we agreed we would decide later if she was going to stay ST or LT, it seems the barfine was 1900 P either way.
Mahal i signed up for the mastercard promo yesterday as i plan to stay at Hyatt Casino end of Jan, but there could be limitations on the promo, for example the Hyatt in Sydney want $AUD300-400 per night and i think certain hotels have exclusion but i could be wrong.
I would be happy with the Hyatt Erawan in BKK.

And considering that it can cost 350 for a ladies drink and even 300 for a customers drink, this is now one expensive place. With the 12% drop in the $ and 15% increase in prices, it now costs almost 30% for a night out on Burgoss then it did a year ago. The only good thing is that you can now get a seat at Flamingo if you go there on a Saturday night, but since I rarely can afford the privilage, what difference does it make. I must admit however that when I think back to the very best girls I have had in Manila. The ones that really rocked my world, they allmost all came from Burgos. The only really good, affordable bar in the area that is left is Rogues. Ladies drinks are 250. Barfine is 2,500. And a cocktail for a customer is 150-200. And considering that happy hour goes all the way until 10:00, this place will cost you less then a EDSA bar before 10:00. And the line up is quite good, much better then the recent past (cute girls go where the customers are).

I enjoyed reading your report. I was most interested in the comparison of Burgos Street and EDSA complex. I found EDSA very reasonable once you quickly worked out the game there. EDSA asks only 1,000 bar fine and the tip is fully negotiable between you and the girl. The start at 2,500 ST and 4,000 LT but that is the starting price only and they don't expect to get it unless you are Japanese lol. Similar with ladies drinks in EDSA. I asked the girl first how much and she said 300 so I laughed and said, "that's 2 nights salary for you lol". She also laughed and said that they have ladies drinks for 180, I said. O.K. then. If it is a quiet night and you make the girl laugh a bit first, they will stay with you all night for 2,500 no probs. Even less if you call them on their cp the next days and chat to them. If they really like you they will come for free in future on their days off but never loose sight of their agenda, THEY WANT A BOY FRIEND OR HUSBAND TO SUPPORT THEM AND THEIR FAMILY. This is my experience anyway.

Even with a debit or credit card from some blow joe bank, you can still get cash while you're in Timbuktu. I bet you guys are the ones still write checks at the supermarket, aren't you. Can anyone explain this to me?

Some people have what we refer to as "Black money" meaning they haven't declared it or paid the right taxes so to use a credit card connected to this cash would blow their cover and get them in trouble. That is why cash is still used often.

More than two years ago, I hit G spot on a regular basis, (I recall the owner WAS a foreigner but cant remember what European country he was from) most of the girls were freelancers, a few regular girls from the mall or nearby offices would stop in also and flirt with the foreigners, IMHO it was better than LA cafe due to the laid back atmosphere and fewer people, it was also a good place to "Hunt" in the early afternoon.

I can't answer that but you can email them and ask. It is across the street from Jolly Bee around the corner from Mabini Street. Yes it is a small bar with a live band most nights. Lots of freelancers but not as good as LA IMHO. Food is good there but not cheap by local standards.
The Cowboy Br and Grill is just up on Mabini Street and is a lot of fun to.

When I carried cash on my first trip I had to hide them in several places in my luggage, carry-on, and wallace to lessen the chance of loosing everything at once. But I still worried that I might loose them all. This alone would just ruin the fun there. With the card, even if you loose it, you don't loose the money unless you are stupid enough to write the pin number on it. In rare situation like that, there is still western union.

You are right, there are many advantages in using cards but some also when using cash. In reply to your comment about the car and the bus, I always have a plan A, B, and C. So far one has not let me down.

just got back from my trip to the pi. i was there for 19 days of drinking and fucking. it enjoyed my stay. first hotel stay, sucked to high hell. cost me 120 bones for a 2 star hotel. that is what i got for not making hotel reservation. lesson learned. moved over to the hyatt the next day for 18 days. the cost was not bad, $85 a night, but that was a contract rate. they did nickle and dime me at that rate. the internet was not high speed as advertised and cost 800 peso for 24 hours. the food was buffet style which i did not like except for breakfast. the best meal of the day.
did not take any pictures this time of the girls. my next trip will be better. i am thinking about visiting twice a year.

I know the hotel quite well,Since Eddie Yeo the GM is a friend.It is a Singaporean run hotel part of the Singaporean Copthorne group.It has a Casino on premises and being geared towards the China,Taiwan,HK market It has a good Chinese restaurant.There are working girls in the lobby and the hotel is dominated by Gamblers and Chinese guests,It is a 4 star ranked Hotel.Hope this helpsI've stayed in Heritage on several occasions for stays of 3 or 4 days. Not the fanciest place but decent rooms and good value. They occasionally got tricky in the lobby when bringing back a girl, but use the casino entrance and go up the stairs to the next floor for the lifts avoids that.

following are the exploits of my 2 week trip through manila and hong kong. i am posting in both forums. before heading on my journey, i researched this forum extensively. i would like to thank all the contributors on this board, your insight helped make my trip a tremendous success.
for those of you who know this area, you won’t find anything new in these posts….i took the road well traveled. for those of you heading this way for the first time, hopefully this will give you a flavor for the scene. although embarrassed to admit it, i was too lazy to learn a single word of tagalog or cantonese. i went through the trip speaking english only.
this is an extremely long report. i did it to try and contribute back to the forum which offered me so much and it also helped me think through and remember my trip.
if i can offer a single piece of advice before heading to these parts, it would be rtff. the knowledge, insight, and accuracy of the posts is truly amazing.
day 1 – sunday - manila

for those of you who like a nice hotel, the peninsula is a fantastic choice. i would rate the hotel as having a 5 star lobby, 3-4 star bedrooms, and a 5 star bathroom. i rate the rooms a little lower simply because they offer only the standard bed, couch, minibar, and desk (i was there during their renovation and i understand some rooms are now better). the service at the hotel is impeccable and i believe i heard more “good afternoon sirs” walking through the door and up to my room in one afternoon than i would hear in a year back home. for around usd$100 per night it is great value. one nice surprise at the peninsula (i don’t know if this was only my room or all rooms) was they have oversized safes there, nice to have if you are worried about leaving a laptop out when you have guests.
as an aside if you are coming from america you will find even the prices of the hotel minibar seem reasonable….this is just an illusion. for 3 days i was convincing myself that a beer from the minibar or bar is only us$4 so it is no biggie if i drink it. don’t get sucked in like i did, walk across the street to mercury drugs and you can buy some san migs & water to keep in your room for us$0.50 each. trust me, you can find a better way to spend your hard earned cash in manila than on overpriced minibar drinks.

on the advice of another poster from this board i took a taxi to greenhill to pick up a cell phone. i couldn’t find a good deal on phones in makati so heading to greenhill is a better option. on the third floor there is a market area where they sell used phones. i ended up paying 2000 pesos for a cell phone with some prepaid calling time and text messages. this was excellent advice i had received, a cell phone is essential for a mongerer to stay in touch staying in touch while in manila. everyone in manila is addicted to text messaging.

knowing i wouldn’t be searching for company this evening, i ended up just going to the hard rock café in makati for a bite to eat. i ended up coming here a few times, not just because of the good food and atmosphere (they had a band every night) but they also had this gorgeous bartender who i considered “the fluffer”. she did an amazing job of making sure she would have a little chat with every guy sitting at the bar and then move on, before you knew it she had done her rounds and she would be back chatting with you. at one point we were chatting about what i should do while in the philippines and i thought i heard say, you should do this, you should do that, you should do me….wait a second, did i hear that correctly? i will never know if i heard her right, but at that point i knew this would be a good trip.
it was about 9:30pm and i walked back to the peninsula and through the lobby, in front of me heading to the elevators was a 50 year old mongerer with a 20 yr old barfine on his arm. as he was walking in there were some arrogant looking 60 yr old american ladies in the lobby restaurant staring him down, at this moment they probably just realized where their own husbands are. i chuckled to myself knowing who i would rather be banging when i was 50.
day 2 – monday - manila

rested up it was now time to get to business, mongering. given that it was my first full day i had some pent up demand and felt i should get a quick load off, i felt phoenix would be a good choice. it is located on antonio arnaiz ave (pasay road) across the street from the new world renaissance and in the roman suites hotel. as has been previously reported there are no signs on the building for either phoenix or for the roman suites. the best way to find it is to find the jvc and ibank signs, there are 2 buildings between these signs. phoenix is in the building on the right if you are facing the buildings.
when i walk up to the reception desk i immediately see a sign, it says something like “massage is our business, we don’t offer sexual services”. i am thinking oh shit, the guide has never let me down, how could it be so wrong about something so fundamental. i hide this disappointment and opt to go through with it anyhow. the papasan shows me the fishtank, there are only 4 in there and all are average quality. not wanting to be too fussy i just went with the papasan’s suggestion (i just wanted to get a quick load out afterall). i pay the room charge of 1200 peso’s and head off to the room. i am joined shortly by my selection. a quick solo shower and we get down to the massage. it is the typical weak massage you get in this type of establishment. the massage works around my body and then moves to my privates, at this point i realize that sign in the reception area is just a formality and the guide was correct afterall. at this point she offers the “extras”. i ask how much and she says 2000 pesos, we settle on 1700 and get down to business. out comes a condom for a cbj which was a little bit of a disappointment, but i don’t argue. nothing too incredible happened during this session, but i got my first load off. mission accomplished.

evening time and it was time to try the much reported on edsa. the plan was to get there early enough so i could be back at the peninsula before 11pm. i had read in the little guide in the hotel room that guests weren’t permitted after 11. i didn’t necessarily believe this, but i didn’t want to test the policy so early in my trip. i let the taxi driver know it was on the corner of edsa (ed-sah) and roxas (ro-has) across from the heritage hotel. he knew of the place and simply referred to it as the “entertainment complex”. as you drive up to the complex you will see signs for all the bars from the street (bullets and arrows, cotton club, space girls, firehouse, pitstop,…). you enter through a single entrance and then can enter the individual bars from there. i ignore all the people at the individual bar doors and look for the names of the bars i want to go in, first choice is firehouse. i walk in and am immediately led to a front row seat. i don’t argue although most customers appear to be seated at the table’s further back. the atmosphere is a stage where 20 or so scantily clad girls are dancing. if you like something you let the mamasan know and she will beckon her to sit with you. the lineup was decent, but i knew i wanted to try another bar or two so i had a couple beers and left.
i wandered over to the next door and went into bullets and arrows. similar setup with around 20 girls dancing on stage, the only difference is they are dressed in cowboy attire. again a decent lineup, but 1 girl catches my eye. she is smiling at me, dancing, and generally appears to be having fun. given that i knew i was shopping for an overnighter attitude was going to be important, i have the mamasan call her down. beware fellow newbies, once you have a girl sit down with you be prepared for the barrage of offers from various people….flowers for the girl, photos with the girl, drinks for the girl, food for the girl,… i knew i would be barfining her so i don’t mind buying her drinks and food. she ordered some food which i don’t think she even wanted (or she didn’t want to eat without me eating). she ended up giving her chicken fingers to the mamasan, waitress, friends,… who gobbled it up like it was their first meal of the day. sadly, it may have been.
i paid the barfine of 1000 pesos and agreed to 3500 overnight, off we go back to the hotel. determined to try and find an honest cab i knew i would have to go down the cab line. the first cab, no meter & wanted 300 peso’s. why would i pay 300 pesos for a return trip which cost me 100 peso’s to get there? no deal. the second cab wanted 200 peso’s for an unmetered trip, no deal. finally the third driver was willing to use the meter……surprise surprse, it ended up costing 100 peso’s including a quick stop at a 7-11 to pick up some drinks & snacks. make sure the cabs use the meter.
we made it back to the hotel before 11 and walked straight through the lobby and go up the elevator, no questions by any of the hotel staff and no evil stares by anybody in the hotel restaurant. up in the room and we enjoy some drinks & music before jumping into the foreplay. i think the jetlag had thrown my timing off a little (at least that is my excuse) as it took me a long time to get it up. during the extended foreplay i learned the dangers of a twin sized bed. as we were rolling, flipping, and bouncing around working on getting the little guy ready for action we fell off the bed 3 or 4 times. funny when it happens, but it doesn’t do a lot to enhance the “moment” especially when i am already struggling for wood. finally we were able to make things work we had some standard sex and then a well deserved rest.

at the peninsula there is a 2nd floor exit which exits onto ayala ave. not wanting to do the walk of shame through the lobby with this girl i opted to take her to the 2nd floor exit, thinking there is only 1 guard there and i can deal with that. i walk her out the door and down to the street. i have seen less emotion when breaking up with girlfriends, i honestly thought this girl was going to break into tears right there on the sidewalk. i know a wise mongerer once said “you don’t pay them to sleep with you, you pay them to leave”. apparently not all girls live by this adage.
finally she goes on her way and i walk back in the same 2nd floor exit. the same guard who let me out lets me back in. he walks me to the elevator and pushes the button. he stands there right next to me like he is an old buddy eagerly expecting me to tell him all the details of my exploits. i say nothing. finally he musters up some words hoping to spur me on to spill the beans and says “so, she gone now”. i just chuckle and say “ya, she was nice” and step onto the elevator.

tuesday turned out to be a non mongering day, but taught me a valuable lesson:
if you are in manila for a week or less don’t waste your time and money with girls from filipina heart.
i know this could be debated and i definitely know in hindsight that i made a lot of mistakes, but what follows today and the upcoming thursday is how a series of screw ups by yours truly led to me wasting both my time and money trying this out.
it all started when i was planning my trip. my goals were to a) experience the best manila had to offer as well as b) experience a variety of mongering options. i felt filipina heart was an alternative mongering option and i needed to give it a try. i also felt a side benefit would be knowing someone local when i arrived.
it is easy to meet people on fh, you simply put an ad out there and the girls will come. the greater challenge will be weeding out the ones you don’t want to meet. granted it was fun meeting all these girls and chatting with them online as i prepared for my trip, it helped keep me focused and looking forward to heading to manila. that being said, i wanted to ensure i limited the number of people i met due to time constraints.
i ended up selecting only one girl that i wanted to meet in person. there were a lot of girls i met on fh who i had a tough time carrying a conversation with. it felt like i was constantly asking them questions and they were giving back a lot of 1 word answers. i understand their english is limited however i certainly didn’t want to have a lot of dates where this was the case. the one girl i decided to meet up with seemed to be fun, interesting, and we had some good conversations online. i didn’t screen her to ensure she would sleep with me, that is not the type of person i am. i can easily get that at one of the bars with a pro, here i was looking for something different….more of a gfe.
as i said, i made a lot of mistakes with this girl. my first mistake was agreeing to see her multiple times. this wasn’t intentional, it just happened during one of our online conversations. she was helping me plan some things to do in manila and “i am going to tagatay” turned into “we are going to tagatay” and next thing i knew i was committed to multiple dates with this girl. obviously a rookie mongering mistake.
one last piece of background. in planning this trip to tagatay this girl was kind enough to approach one of her friends with a car who was willing to drive us out there for the day as long as i paid for the gas. i had accepted this offer at the time, but as things drew closer i started to be uncomfortable with this idea. call me paranoid, but the thought of driving into the middle of nowhere with a car full of complete strangers didn’t sit well. especially when my credit limit on a single credit card would exceed all their annual salaries combined. to help mitigate this i was planning on reiterating an offer to rent a car and driver for the day. i figured spending us$100 on this would at least buy me some peace of mind.
enough background, today was the day i was to finally meet her. i intentionally made it a couple days after i arrived just in case i took to this girl and wanted to spend some more time with her. i wanted to ensure i already had some mongering under my belt. today’s plan was basic, meet at starbucks in greenbelt for a coffee after she finished work at 3. nothing more.
true to form, she shows up 30 minutes late and brings a couple friends. when i first saw her my initial thinking was “she sure is photogenic”; meaning she looked a hell of a lot better on her web cam than she did in real life. what about plan b, the friends? no chance, they were even worse. don’t get me wrong she was not horrible, but if i compared her to some of the girls i saw at edsa i would have put her in the bottom 30%. oh well i thought, maybe we will totally hit it off and she will blind me with her personality. unfortunately this didn’t work either as conversation was slightly awkward and forced (not to be unexpected in this situation).
meeting for a coffee turns into heading to a movie. my next mistake was not cutting my losses at this point. i knew i would be going on a day trip to tagatay on thursday with her and i was not prepared to back out of that (another mistake) so i decided to try and make the best of it. after the movie we have another coffee and the night is done. no action, no attempted action, i didn’t want to bang her, i didn’t want to bang her friends, no chemistry, she didn’t want to bang me….nothing except another date coming up thursday.
one last piece piece of bad luck….her friend with the car who was going to take us to tagatay called and could no longer get away from work. of course my 1 solid excuse to get out of this date was now gone as i had already reiterated the offer to rent a car and driver. i was now stuck with having to go on a second date in addition to paying us$100 for the car and driver. just not my day.
day 4 – wednesday - manila

air force 1 was on the agenda for this afternoon. i hop in a cab and of course he won’t turn on the meter. i weigh my options…he knows the place, it is rush hour, i don’t see any other cabs, and its raining. i know i am getting screwed at 300 pesos, but decide to go anyhow. i make one stipulation and that is if he drives me back we use the meter, he agrees (lol, like this will ever happen).
air force 1 is by the airport, there are 2 parts, a ktv upstairs and a massage parlor called flight 168 downstairs. when we get there the ktv isn’t open yet (doesn’t open until 7) and it doesn’t take much convincing to get me to go to the massage parlor.
they walk me to the selection area and there are about 20 girls behind glass. i choose #11 a stunning 19 yr old spinner nursing student from quezon. what follows is the most incredible massage i had ever had. for you massage experts it would probably be standard fare, but for those of us used to the typical lame massages this was an incredible mind blowing, spine tingling, and bone cracking experience. suddenly the 18 hrs of travel seemed all worthwhile. it was heaven.

wednesday night i decide to take a break from mongering. i have to be up early the next morning to head to tagatay with the filipino heart girl and i know my willpower when i hit a mongering establishment is low.
day 5 – thursday - manila

thursday morning i wake up bright and early for my second date with the filipino heart girl. i had reserved a car to take us out there and it was costing me 700 peso’s /hr. i still believe i was more comfortable doing this than driving out into the middle of nowhere with a carload of strangers. as usual the fh girl shows up 30 min late with her friends, normally this is expected, unfortunately this just meant i pissed away 350 peso’s in car charges while standing there waiting like a moron.
we spend the day seeing the “peoples park” which could be a real nice place however they don’t maintain it so it is now a little run down. we head for a lunch and eat it in a different park and make our way to see taal volcano. of course when you hit taal volcano, the expenses start to run up. not so bad if you are paying for 1 or 2, but when you are paying for 4 it starts to add up. it ended up costing a 2000 peso’s for a boat ride to the volcano & another 2500 peso’s to rent guided horses to take us up to the volcano. sadly the volcano wasn’t all that impressive (i think costa rican volcano tours are better) it just seemed like a big lake in the middle of a crater.
after the volcano tour we head back to manila. once in manila, she went her way and i went my way. i didn’t want to bang her, she didn’t want to bang me, and the conversation was ok at best. of course later that evening i got a text message from her saying she had a great time, it was her first time on a horse, she will never forget it, blah, blah, blah….she even asked to go out again to show me around manila bay. i had to chuckle when reading this she truly was a professional “escort”. unfortunately it just meant escorting people around town.
in summary i will state again: if you are in manila for a week or less don’t waste your time with filipino heart girls.
again, i admit i made a lot of mistakes along the way with this girl and it ended up costing me a lot of time and money

- spent more on incidentals like hats and crap.
so for my investment of 13k peso and 2 days i got no sex (nor did i want to bang her), ok conversation, and went and saw a pretty marginal volcano. don’t get me wrong, i don’t mean to sound jaded…..i will remember it as an adventure, but there are just better ways to do it.

i walk into flamingo’s, i had heard it was the best so i wanted to be sure to scope it out. i immediately get accosted by 4 girls and pinned into a front table. obviously their intentions and mine were different so i grabbed my beer and went to sit at a table closer to the stage. to be honest, i was a little disappointed with the lineup….i had heard flamingo’s was the best and there was definitely some top notch talent, i just didn’t think the lineup was that much better than what i saw at edsa. i had a couple beers, got a feel for the scene and was ready to move on. whew, made it out of a bar without barfining.

this is it, friday night on burgos. i was planning on this to be the big night, the climatic conclusion to months of research and preparation. tonight is why i traveled 18 hours and thousands of miles. for those of you who have seen the movie “you, me and dupree” this is what i considered the opportunity for an average guy to shine…..to “bring out the ness and throw 7 different kinds of smoke”.
i start at wild west which is essentially around the corner from flamingo’s. i think is a great place, the girls seem to have a lot of fun and it is good atmosphere. that being said, my mind was made up a month ago, i was just using wild west as foreplay. well foreplay is over, it is time to fuck…..off to flamingo’s.

i had not given up hope, and continued to treat her like a princess. i let her sleep until 1 as i empathize with her living conditions. i was also hoping she would reciprocate with some nice morning sex when she awoke. wrong. as a last ditch attempt i take her for a nice lunch at the greenbelt, still not getting through, time to cut my losses. all that keeps going through my mind is the wise saying “you can take the girl out of the bar, but you can’t take the bar out of the girl”. it was strictly business.

my last night in manila and burgos was the target. i didn’t want to go back to flamingos as i didn’t want to see the same girl from the night before so i opted to do some barhopping down burgos. i went to a number of bars…bubbles, rascals, jools,…. my agenda was simple, go into a bar, have a drink, check out the lineup, and make a selection or leave.
at this point the whole scene started to get on my nerves. maybe it was because business was slow for a saturday night but the girls will constantly bombard you….”buy me a drink”, “buy mamasan a drink”, girls sitting next to me and not leaving. i just wanted to check out the lineup and decide. it got to a point at jools where i gave 2 girls 100 pesos each just to leave (i figured this was a cheaper option than buying the ladies drinks to shut them up). anyhow, it is just something you need to be mentally prepared for. i thought i was but it still got on my nerves.
i finally found someone at jools…not perfect, but good enough and i felt this would make the girl bombardment go away. unfortunately, when i went to close the deal i found out she wasn’t available for lt, she had to catch an early bus. that wasn’t what i wanted for my last night in manila.
as a last ditch effort i opted to go back to dimples. if the girl from tuesday night was there she would be the choice. i walk in and she is immediately on me, done, sold. we have a couple drinks and decide to head out to another bar to see her friend…off to high heels we go. what ensues is an incredible performance between these 2….dancing together, sucking each others tits, me sucking both their tits, making out with both of them….absolutely incredible.
where the story turns nasty is my recently barfined girl was taking a lot of liberties spending my cash in the bar. she was buying friends drinks, buying the mamasan drinks, buying other girls drinks….before long we had hit a 4000 peso bar tab. this is where i snapped.
in hindsight i can see why i snapped. over the course of the week i had been constantly approached in the streets having people trying to sell rolex’s, cialis, viagra, massage’s. in the bars i was constantly approached to buy overpriced ladies drinks and overpriced mamasan drinks. the cab drivers were constantly trying to screw you on your fares. and the filipina heart girl cost me a fortune taking her & her friends on a daytrip to tagatay. all this had built up to me believing that nobody in the philippines has any other motive than to separate me from my money.
when my recently barfined girl ran up this tab for ladies drinks that is what put me over the edge. enough!!! i did politely pay the bill, but then immediately left leaving my barfined girl behind. i walked outside and got in the first cab i saw and didn’t look back.
shortly after hoping in the cab the text messages and phone calls start. “why you leave”, “what did i do”, “i will stay with you for free”,…. next thing i know she is at my hotel crying. i try and explain to her that i am sick of everyone asking for and spending my money. that being said in my inebriated state i am sure it didn’t come out correctly. despite her tears and her concern i still asked her to leave. she gets in a cab and heads off. i spend my last night in manila alone.
day 8 – sunday – manila / hong kong
the following morning i sober up and am thinking more rationally, i understand why i cracked, but i know i didn’t handle it well. i feel horrible. although this girl set me over the edge, it was entirely her fault. i feel i need to make amends….plus i still want to bang her again.
i won’t go into all the details, but i ended up offering to take that girl to hong kong with me for a few days. the deal was all expenses + usd200. the snag i ran into was we closed the deal over text messages. i was already at the airport and had to get on my flight. once in hong kong i couldn’t figure out a way to purchase her a ticket while she was in the philippines.
to this day i still regret not making it up to this girl. i can’t text message her as i haven’t been able to set up my phone for international roaming. however i am considering this a good excuse to make another trip back to manila soon.

for my first day in hong kong i didn’t do any mongering. however the one thing that really stood out was how hot the girls were who were walking around central, causeway bay, and tsim sha tsui. the girls were extremely contemporary, cosmopolitan, thin, and attractive. i figured i would love this place.

i was a little nervous before my first 141 experience; especially given that the 141 scene is so much different than the typical bar scene. i decide to go to the bar across the street for a couple beers first….1, 2, 3, 4. ok 4 beers and i am ready. i walk through the main entrance for champagne ct b which is easy to find if you have done your research. inside there are a number of small camera/watch shops which i pretended to peruse while trying to find the elevator. there are 2 choices, 1 dingy elevator or 1 nicely carpeted staircase. i chose the staircase led up to a bunch of rooms. wrong choice. i get scolded by some people in there, but that is ok i have a couple beers in me. choice #2, the elevator. i push the button and wait, and wait, and wait,…then i opt to do what the other mongerers are doing and head up a small staircase beside the elevator. from my research i believed the best floors were #3 and #7 so i stopped at 3.
walking down the hallway there were a bunch of little apartments with signs saying “available” or “occupied”. some had pictures, others didn’t. i walk down the floor and head up to floor #7. a girl standing outside her doorway approaches me. after seeing all the hotties on the mtr in causeway bay and central my expectations were high, but i knew these wouldn’t be as cute. i was thinking if i could fined something 1 or 2 notches below 90% of the girls i see walking around, i would be happy. this girl was 3 notches below. i politely decline. now my courage is up, i understand the scene and decide to start ringing doorbells. first door says available, i ring, no answer, hmmm. second doorbell, i ring, she comes to the door and says no foreigners. here i am with a thousand hk dollars in my pocket never having been laid in hk before and getting turned down by a pro. i walk away a bit dejected and the first girl who approached me is still there. i captitulate to her.

if i were to plan a trip to these regions again there a couple things i would do differently, maybe anyone planning their first trip out can learn from my experience.

Actually, you eluded that you picked up on these points towards the end of your trip.

I've mongered quite a bit in India. The typical prices someone pays for ST is $20 US. LT prices are $75-$100. Yet for the same quality of girls, I was able to get ST for $3.50 and LT for $18-$23.
The only difference was the area that you picked them up from. There was one part of the city that had incall services and you could get cheap prices. Use Victoria Court Hotels. While staying at the Peninsula a couple of years ago, I used their branch in Malate because I picked up a chick at the Heritage Hotel. Google them and you will see their rates and locations throughtout the metro Manila area.
There are many short time hotels around LA CAFE . I have not personally used them but the girls in there told me . I told them I have a GF in the room and they suggested short time hotel for 2 hours for around 500 pesos.
But I would not personally take a non pro girl for the first time or anytime to a sleezy hotel. Remember it is not the act , but it could be a long time romantic relationship. And also as far as my experience goes non pro philippino girls would not be caught dead in a short time motel especially with a foreigner. But take my friendly advice, if you really think this is a normal girl show her the respect she deserves and book a nice hotel. She will definitely appreciate that.
I am not too sure about the area around LA Cafe, but I know just down the street from there close to corner of Quirino and Mabini is SOGO, rates are 360P for 3 hours. If they see you are foreigner, they will tell you they only have suite or the higher rated 430P/560P for 3 hours to get more money out of you. Just be patient and say you will wait for the minimum rate. Almost all the rooms look the same so you're not getting anything special.
Also there is the SOHO on the same street as LA Cafe in the same direction towards Quirino again. They have similar rates and rooms to SOGO on the opposite street. Every once in a while I will go as far as Pasay where you can find the Victoria Court, they have 2hr short time for 200P! They also will boost up the price when they see you're foreigner and when they come up to the taxi they say "suite sir"?? Just say you want the taxi rate and will wait. If you dont want to wait...just ask for the 260P price for 2 hours.
If you are really desperate...you can go far as Pasig to Victoria Court there....same price as the one in Pasay. But I doubt the girl will want to go that far. Hope it helps.

Just to add. I always used to use Anito in Pasay City Edsa. Then they stared building that on ramp towards domestic airport. That meant I had to "learn" the back way out. That took you throught streets of kids playing basketball until eventually arrived back in Makati. Only prob with Anito is you arrive in your car. Put you in a car park garage next to room, then tell you room will be serviced so wait 20 mins "please sir".
So then I started using Kamagong Inn near Edsa Heritage Hotel. Thr VIP suites were good and had nice themes. And big jacuzzi.
Then competition came in form of Sogo next to Kamagong Inn. Its newer, cleaner and better for me. Thats now my regular spot when I visit Manila.

Just got to PI yesterday. Staying at the Cherry Blossoms hotel in Ermita, Manila. Standard room is fine at 1515 PHP/night including 2 breakfasts and its only 4 blocks to LA Cafe. Yes ,you did overpay. Going rate for allnight is 1500 if negotiated and 2000 if not. But money is only part of the picture. Good service deserves extra.
Yes, next to EDSA. It is several bars clustered together. Yes, it is more expensive than La cafe. But you can get real stunners there. I had one from mindanao, smoking hot. and very good service too. Too bad I only have 1 week here in PI. That's 3 nights Manila and 4 nights in Cebu. I need recommendations on Cebu hotels.I concur with X Man. Holiday Plaza is decent for the price. Includes a nice breakfast for two in the main floor restaurant, has a fair rooftop restaurant and bar. Nice views up there. Like many PI hotels it's old and smells of cigarettes in the halls but my room did not.
Silver Dollar bar is very close by. I liked the place, others have posted differently. Met some cuties for ST at Robinson's mall. Easy pickings there. Also met a girl at Fuente Osmena sitting on a park bench. We went for a brief lunch then a 1000 Peso suck and shag back at the Holiday Plaza.
My advice is to meet a taxi driver you feel you can trust. Taxi's are very inexpensive and a good, trusted driver can get you into some cool places and keep you out of bad ones. My driver was named Chito. For 200 pesos he'd drive me just about anywhere in Cebu.
One night we went to Jakosalem (SP) street and the cheapo, bugao infested alleys purveying 500 Peso ladies. Found a very nice 19 y.o. with huge cans and perfect dsl (dick sucking lips). Performed well for USD10.

Please don't take this wrong--but I have to respectfully disagree with X Man regarding Edsa Entertainment Complex. I know X Man is a great contributor to these boards but I happen to have a different opinion.
I've never barfined a girl there but I have gone a couple of times. I like the idea that there are literally hundreds of girls to choose from in a bunch of different bars in one complex. With that many, you are bound to find one to your liking.
I don't remember the barfine--I think it was only 1000, and the girl will probably settle for 1000 - 1500 for all night. I once got the number from one girl because I was staying at a hotel where all the employees know me and my wife and I didn't want to walk in the door with her. She called me a couple of days later and came over and never mentioned money. She would have stayed as long as I wanted her to but she ended up leaving at about 4am or so. I didn't see the morals being any different than any other bar I've been to in Manila.

OK. I agree I got taken in. I guess I really don't care. I had a good time and the money means little to me. We both ended up happy in our own way. My only regret is that the little spat over money tarred an otherwise wonderful encounter.
Last night I visited G-point (mentioned on this board). There were a number of girls available but the only one I found appealing was the manager, Lily. I flirted with Lily a bit but it wasn't clear this was heading anywhere (and she was busy doing her job). I don't get all that EDSA sarcasm. Let me just be blunt. This time of year on a Saturday night, the Firehouse is just FANTASTIC. Of my last 5 barfines over the past two weeks, four of them have been from the Firehouse. Honestly, the place is up and down and I have gone months without a single barfine from the place. But for some reason, the place really attracts new girls this time of year. Much more then other bars. This is my third Christmas since moving to Manila, and it is amazing how much the talent improves during the season. There were many brand new girls there tonight, as there were last weekend. I took two, and would have been happy with several others on display. And I am generally quite picky, often going through a dozern bars without finding anyone. The only bad thing is that the whole thing ends at Christmas and finding a 9+ can become quite a search at the beginning of the year.

I see other posters have beaten me to the punch and I agree with their answers to your questions.
As said before, LA prices are 1,000 negotiated short time ( unless it's 7am to mid day or so where the girls are desperate and will go ST for 500), and 1,500 negotiated long time (down from 2,000). These are the standard rates even though there will be a lot of variation depending on the individual girls and what they think they can get away with from you. Next time if you have more time, get talking to as many of the LA girls as you can and get known. This will help you a lot on price and service. On the night they don't pick up a customer at full price, they will often come up to you as they know you by then, and offer you a very discounted price so that they have money to get home. This has and does happen to me a lot.
EDSA is a GREAT place IMOH. It is not as cheap as LA but the girls are hot. The bar fine is 1,000 and the girl tip can be negotiated down as low as you want provided a) that she really needs money that night b) that you have made her laugh and she likes you and c) that there are not many customer in the bar that night.
On one occasion, on a repeat visit, my girl from a previous night had had a disagreement with her Mammasan and just wanted to get out of the bar that night. I told her I had not planed to bar fine that night as I did not have enough money ;) and she said, "Just pay the 1,000 bar fine to the Mammasan and lets get out of here." She did not ask me for any money that next day even though I did take her to dinner and breakfast (my choice) and put her in a taxi to go home. Over all it was a great experience. This is just an e.g. of some of the things that can and do happen there if you are what we call "Johnny on the spot" and are in the right place at the right time.

If you are coming from LA cafe area to edsa is about 5 miles just take the taxi 80 peso take about 20 min or you can take the jeepney less than 10 peso
if you know which one to take.

Thanks, YankeeFind EDSA on your map then find Rojas Blvd. The EDSA complex is about 200 meters (not sure of the compass direction) from the intersection of those two streets. You will see signs for the various clubs "Casino" "Firehouse" "Cotton Club" etc. As for the transportation mode, take a taxi. Most taxi drivers will know where it is. Be sure to tell them to use the meter.

The action around divisoria mall is on the streets. As I mentioned in my report, just hire a taxi by the hour at around 200 pesos and have him drive you to the girls at night, do NOT walk around alone in that area at night.
Regarding the cheap KTV's I mentioned, again as I said in my report, the area is locally known as "Air force one" on the way to the domestic airport. Every taxi driver who speaks any English will know it.

Have you really problems to find action in Manila? According to my experience the entire city "is an action" - during day and night! Brother, you can find cute girls anywhere, not only in LA Cafe! Go to any shopping mall (eg Harrison Plaza), to a cinema, or simply to KFC. And at nighttime check the other bars in Adriatico / Mabini Street. In case the worst comes to the worst you can always ask a taxi driver to bring you to the place of your choice. Be sure, they know exactly where the action is! :)

it all seemed pretty tame, with girls barely moving. each group was presented before and after with numbers so you could call one over for lady drinks etc. it was early and the girls were not getting many takers. finally a real dancer with some incredible raunchy hip movements enticed some guys with tips to lick her pussy.

crime. i didn't see any crimes first hand, but the girls i was with were watchful and worried, especially while walking the bay walk. one girl doesn't keep anything important in her purse anymore, after 2 holdups at knife point on jeepneys, and the girls always locked the taxi doors. i think we can assume that manila is fairly dangerous. the vendors were everpresent but easy to igore-i waved them off with a hand gesture, no talking and no eye contact. also quiet, mostly polite beggars in ermita, only one was persistant, a fit young man, the last one i would consider giving to. ignored them all.
timing. when taking a girl for tln, don't be surprised if she is dead asleep at 6am when you have a hard-on. they usually work until 4am, get home about 6am, then sleep 6 or 7 hours. if you are on a different schedule, then expect that she will watch you sleep for much of the night and you will watch her sleep for much of the morning.
overall, the philipinnes lived up to its reputation for sexy and available ladies.

Thanks for your kind words and advice after my first trip report last July. I thought I’d again share what I learned and also share a few of my observations during my second two-week Philippine adventure last November.
This trip’s itinerary was to stay in Ermita for three nights, then jet to Tacloban to reunite with a sweetie I had met via AFF, and visited during my first trip last June. After returning to Manila six days later, I’d stay in Ermita until my departure a week after that.
While in Manila, I planned to hook up with a lady I had met weeks earlier via craiglist – to see how quickly I could tap a non-pro, reunite with a few honeys that I’d met during my first visit, and do the LA Café, P Burgos, EDSA circuit. My plan was to cycle through these activities until I dropped, or my flight came up, whichever would come first. This itinerary proved to be too aggressive. In the end, I didn’t venture much beyond Ermita, except for Tacloban and one trip to Makati with a honey from LA Café. Someone on this board had written that there’s enough action between the Ermita bars and Robinson’s Mall to keep a monger busy for weeks. He wasn’t kidding.
Following recommendations on this board, I booked a room via e-mail at the Cherry Blossoms Hotel. Many thanks guys because I wouldn’t have known where to start looking for such accommodations outside Makati, where I was fleeced during my maiden voyage. Cherry Blossoms is clean, safe, and easy on the wallet. One point, however, is that you may have to push a little for a room that meets your particular standards. The staff was accommodating, though. I also got the impression that you should take out the time and make reservations in advance. Apparently they’re popular, at least during this time of year.
I arrived at Cherry Blossoms at 11:30pm on a Saturday night, totally fatigued from my 22-hour voyage from New York. But knowing I was only steps away from LA Café at a prime hour, going to bed was a certain no-no. I checked in, showered, and staggered back outside within thirty minutes, only to be stopped dead in my tracks when I realized that I didn’t know which direction to walk. The streets were a little too dark for my liking, but that wasn’t going to be a show stopper either. I asked around and was finally surprised to discover how close I was. Cherry Blossoms received yet another star in my mental rolodex for convenience.
LA Café was exactly as I had remembered, and showed no indication that it had recently been closed. I even recognized a few faces. Taking advice from this board, I walked past the stares coming from the ‘pit’, and found a spot against the walls near the men’s room at an angle that maximizes face time. My first night, I’d take it smoothly, evaluating all alternatives before deciding who would be that lucky honey. I wandered upstairs to where the band was playing. BTW, the bands here are quite good. Some observations about LA Café:
Some honeys, especially the new ones, are genuinely shy and are hesitant to approach you, even if you smile. In those cases, just wave her over. During the weeks prior to leaving New York, I loaded up on small, brand-name items from my neighborhood outlet store: Wallets, purses, perfume, combs, t-shirts, and makeup, all less than 10usd each. I distributed an item or two to each honey who visited my room. I also made sure to include a meal in the festivities, and a little humor in our conversation. The effect is amazing. As someone who grew up on some of New York City’s meanest streets, I have to give props to the hustlers. These individuals are extremely smooth operators and persistent as hell. Beware of dudes appearing out of nowhere introducing themselves as staff at the hotel you’re staying in (of course, they never mention your hotel by name) and asking if they can assist you with anything. The money changer reps, who are also everywhere, try to lure you into an office where I’m sure you’ll be cleverly cheated or rolled, or both. And could someone tell me the story behind ‘ice cream’? I’ve had several people in the mall and on the street (men and women) ask if I’d like to treat them to ice cream? Is ‘ice cream’ code for something?
I had a fellow try to sell me fake designer watches who followed me two blocks and all the while grumbling about feeding his kids. While tuning him out, I reflected on a post I read on this board about someone having had this same experience in the P. Burgos area. I almost stopped to ask him if he also sells watches there, but then I shrugged and kept it moving.
I can’t see anything to gain in dealing with the mamasans (or wanna be’s.) They often get in the way and try to charge you, even if they had nothing to do with your selection. I’ve learned to tell them (politely) that I’m waiting for my date who’ll be arriving at any minute, and fiddle with my phone as if I’m txting her. They may hover and BS for a little while, but if you continue to ignore them, they’ll eventually disappear.
Executive Plaza Hotel:
On my return from Tacloban, there was a mix-up with my reservation at Cherry Blossoms. They weren’t expecting my return until the next day, and being fully booked, they recommended the nearby Executive Plaza for the night. Although priced slightly higher than Cherry Blossoms, their accommodations supported mongering operations equally well. While checking in, I scanned the lobby for possible hits and got the eye from a group of young honeys posing as masseuses.
While my trip was incident free, I can’t help but wonder how safe Manila really is. I got the sense that one could get rolled at any time, anywhere. My gut feeling is that if you’re there long enough, it’s only a matter of time before you’re rolled. Any comments?
With only a few exceptions, the honeys and other women I’ve had contact with were all sweethearts. This is potentially dangerous to the newbie who arrives with Western-born perceptions of women in this part of the world. While I’m sure that gems abound in the Philippines, I think it’s a good idea to learn more about Philippine culture before considering a long-term hookup.
It’s amusing how small everything is. Servings in restaurants are small, cars are small, chairs are small, even the donuts at Dunkin Donuts are small. Is it me, or are the condoms smaller too?

I would greatly appreciate a dentist recommendation in the Manila (or Makati) area. I want a tooth capped, so it's a job that probably needs two visits. Manila is my entry and exit point, so it serves my purpose...and should have the best dentists anyway.

XMan, dont know how well you know Manila but my dentist is at this location. Take a taxi to Manila's Chinatown and get off at the corner of Ongpin St. and Gandara St. In the direction of traffic (one way) for Ongpin St., you want to be at the right hand corner across the street from the Cafe Restaurant of Binondo Suites hotel (on your left). You can a lot of fruit sellers. Just a few feet away, you can see a small hallway into a building. Go in here, and go to the 4th floor. There are many medical clinics. Go to Rm 403 (?) and the Dentist is Dr. Antonio Villanueva (chinese). Immediately upon entering, go to the secretary and give your name, and you will have to wait in line. He is in by 9AM (Mon-Sat). Very well skilled. I always visit him each time I am there.

Every long timer knows this. Hell, even the garbage collectors ask money during Christmas. My advice is bring just enough cash that you are willing to loose on the street.

arived a couple of days ago in PI, stayed in Manila first. CHekced in at Chery blossoms hotel.
Arrived afternoon, got a shower and chekced out LA cafe first.
Sit there for a secound and gurls are all over me, unfortunetly not the gurls I liekd lol.
Had a chat with some guys there and got some beers.
Went to Grand Boulevard hotel along Manila bay. Pushed the 8 th floor buttom

They'll accuse you of anything to loosen up your wallet. You are in a no-win situation unless you can pull a reversal such as name dropping a politician or a high ranking officer (be sure you can back this up or feel confident about saying it); or, you can be upfront and hand them 500 to 1K pesos and say "Happy New Year!" even if you despise doing this. No matter what always be calm and never be in a combative mode. With all this trouble, I'd take a taxi alone as Billpsu suggested.

I think it is always best to use an abundance of caution.
For example, I never take a cab in front of my hotel, a mall, and especially a bar I have been in. I try to make it a habit of walking a block or two before waving one down.

If the gal likes you she will tell the police she has known you for months and the cops will not get anything from you.Could be that some gals are conected with the police at the area hotspots.I would also use caution because just as the holidays came and went the dash for cash is still on.Most here have spent there hole wadd on the christmas new year thing and would like to get out of the red.

As a rule I never take a waiting cab outside La Cafe or the Edsa Complex as you experience nothing but problems with a overflated fare. I normally walk one block and hail a passing cab.
This is exactly what I do, as mentioned a few posts back. Worth repeating though, keeps us all sharp.
Also, I do not belive the "holidays" are as much of a driving force behind the scaming as one would think.
I was in Manila last August (06) and, if you remember, there was a lot of guys getting picked off leaving the LA Cafe. It culminated in it (LA Cafe) being shut down for a short period of time.

Just got back home in Australia from my second holiday in Manila and am pleased to report that I am totally exhausted! I travelled alone like last year and stayed again in Ermita at the Hyatt Casino, not cheap I know but worth every penny! 5 star all the way!
Just for a little background, let me tell you that I am an average looking guy, 55 years old, divorced and on my annual holiday just looking for some casual encounters with as many pretty filipinas as I can find! And I sure wasn't disappointed. This year I hit the ground running as I knew my way around and wasn't put off by the chaos in the streets that is part of an average day in Manila but sure intimidated me last year! So I made for the LA cafe as soon as I had unpacked and walked straight through the ground floor and headed upstairs. In my opinion the best way to go for a paltry 100 peso entry but without doubt the better looking girls are on the first floor and you just have to be patient and let the night develop and as the dancing starts and the place starts to rock about 11pm you can basically take your pick of plenty of way above average looking girls.
I also had a bit of luck as one of the girls I had met and treated well last year saw me and introduced me to some of her friends. The good reference did me no harm and each night I followed pretty much the same procedure. All I did was make it clear to each of the girls that I preferred to have a different girl each night and that I wasn't looking for a steady girlfriend. Also I wasn't cheap and bought plenty of drinks for the girls and their friends. But hey! The beer is only 95 pesos and I was looking for a good party time! Spent most of each night drinking and dancing and playing pool with heaps of different ladies until about 3 in the morning and then I decided which one I liked most and I would whisper to her that I would like her to stay with me that night and she would let her friends know, without any major problems.
On a couple of occasions I took 2 girls back with me with a good night had by all. I'm not ashamed to say that at age 55 I had some viagra to help me and I can heartily endorse the product! Great stuff!
On average I paid around 3000 pesos to the girl for staying all night which I know is a little rich but like I said earlier I had a good reference from last years girl and treated the payment as an investment in upholding my rep as a good guy and not someone looking for the cheapest lay. And lets be serious. 3000 pesos comes to about $80 aust. Which I think is cheap for an all night stay! I also always invited the girls to stay for breakfast, some did, some declined. Up to them! No problem! Also I always used a condom although that was always at my insistence. I didn't want to knock up any of the girls and give them more problems than they already have and why take a health risk? In total in 10 days I had 6 different girls. I had one girl on three different nights and 2 of them on 2 different nights, plus there was an overlap as they paired up on 2 nights for me! Loved it!
I also visited the G point and while it was fun there with the staff and playing pool etc I generally found the girls there a little older and not quite as attractive. In summary I would advise anyone looking for this sort of holiday to not be too cheap, treat the girls with respect but be straight with them as to what you expect from them. Get their cell nos, their yahoos etc, they love text messages etc and will keep in touch.
Be aware that they will try things on you and that most of the girls, the regulars anyway, know one another very well and talk about the customers and word will spread very quickly if you are cheap or don't treat them well.
I plan to go back again as soon as I can, work and money permitting but I have had the holiday of a lifetime. I have no fantasys left! Hehehehe

Just finished with 4 days in Manila....frequented the LA Cafe and have nothing but great words for the place....I live in Bangkok, so i'd say my standards are pretty high...found LA to be like a cross between the Beergarden and Thermae, except with way greater turnover of fresh faces, and way better gals.....pretty much hooked up with a stunner every night, as in the last postings, would agree that there are cuter girls upstairs, but then again, many of them swing by downstairs as well, and plenty to choose from downstairs as well...hooked up with several half Chinese gals on several nights. Paid 1000 pesos to several of the gals, they seemed well pleased and called the next few days after to try and hook up...Two gals refused payment when offered, saying they enjoyed my company and just wanted to have a great time...i didn't argue, and will most definitely be coming back....something i have realized living in Bkk, at least in Thailand, a majority of the gals have lots of money coming in each month...guys sending cash from overseas, boyfriends visiting...so for quite a few, they don't really need the cash, and if they like a particular guy, they will go out with him just for fun, not expecting anything in return...trick is to find the ones who like you, and not let things get too serious...happy hunting.

To Girlfinder I would rate the girls I was with as steady 7s and 8s, and all but one with good English and good personality. Because I stuck with the one group, I didn't bother chasing some of the other ladies I saw there who I would rate as 8s and 9s on any scale. You're quite right Flying Sky High - I probably did pay too much and I was aware I was paying over the top but I had such a good time I really didn't mind! Plus I wanted to attract the really good looking girls so thats what I meant by establishing my rep and it really didn't do me any harm. End result was that I was happy, the girls were happy. And believe me all of the girls without exception were worth every penny. As for pushing up the price, is it really that much of a difference for an all night experience? Maybe if I had of been paying 5 or 6K yeah, but the difference between 2k or 3k for a twelve hour experience is not that much is it?
I went there to have a totally hassle free holiday and had a great time and will be going back again for more - I can't help it! I'm a generous type of guy!

I don't want to make a big deal of this but when i paid the 3000 pesos to the first girl, I did so the morning after, as there was no discussion of money before the girls came back with me, so in my case it was very much like a tip or gratuity for services rendered - I was very happy with the service provided so I showed my gratitude in the money i gave them which i knew was over the average but I wanted them to tell their friends that I was a good payer and that way i would have girls eager to go with me and could take my pick of the better looking girls. Because i had known one of the girls the year before it was easier for me to mix in their crowd but let me tell you that i am very aware of what the girls are really like having had 2 trips to Manila and 2 previous filipina girlfriends here in australia.

OK, I'm game! Am planning my first trip to the PI over an extended weekend, just to party and for general R&R... I don't live very far away :)
Here's my plan: 4D3N arriving in AC as the travel plan allows arriving at Clark only. Head straight to greater Manila, spending the first night in Makati - check out the malls during the day, check out P. Burgos in the evening. 2nd day: head to Malate and spend 2nd night there - check out LA Cafe in the evening. On the 3rd day head to AC and spend the night there - check out Fields Ave. Depart from Clark the following day.
Can anyone update me on the following fair 'market' rates as I understand them:
P. Burgos = BF PHP 2000-3000 (may be offset by LDs), add 2000-3000 to the girl for LT
LA Cafe = No BF, PHP 500 - 1000 for LT
AC Fields Ave. = BF PHP 1000, 0 - 500 'performance based' tip for LT
I'm less inclined towards KTVs and Saunas, usually preferring the bar/disco scene for semi-pros or FLs. Ideally I'd like to score an 8-or-9-who-occasionally-works, just based on good past experiences elsewhere but this of course is not set in stone. Thanks. I tend to do a lot of 'homework' but sometimes its nice to just do the clichéd 'go with the flow'. Travel plans are still up in the air but will likely take place sometime in March. Will keep your comments in mind. Regarding currency exchange, never intended on the money changers. I'm hoping the money changers here in Singapore are too eager to sell me their pesos and so bring in a good portion of my budget in cash. I'll likely then put the hotels on CC and draw additional funds as required with an ATM card on the Plus network.
Congratulations Ravenboy for taking the time and making the effort to do some homework as you did an excellent job. Your itinerary is perfect and you have the cost factors down to a science. The only contribution I can make to you is pay your tab AS YOU GO on Burgos street. If you don't you will find yourself being charged for ladies drinks that you never ordered and which are way over priced!. The bar Bottoms has a good reputation for doing this. I would also suggest to you that again because of the cost factor to hit Burgos street after 11 or 12 o'clock. They stay open late and you will enjoy yourself in the same manner as if you went earlier but you will be saving yourself ALOT of money. Also try to set something up with the girls when they get off of work instead of paying the out of this world bardines they charge there. Personally I have never had to pay one because of using this approach. I would have them meet you in the restaurant above Bottoms called the Filling Station. This way if they do not show up you will still have many to choose from that will be hanging out there or others who are just leaving the bar. When do you plan on being in the P.I ?. One last comment to add here for you is to be careful if you exchange money in one of the money changing places as some of the individuals are pretty good at the slight of hand trick when transferring the money back to you. I would suggest sticking to ATM's if possible.

I've been to quite a few of the japanese dominated ktv bars along mabini, and am yet to have a decent experience there. I've been mostly with friends into karaoke and drinking, so the mongering wasn't high on the list but I did get a few girls cell nos. who called me when they were off work about 3 in the morning but by that time i was already hooked up with l a cafe girls.
I found the girls in the ktvs to be poor in english, just recently from the provinces, and very young and inexperienced.
But that was my experience - try one and see what you think - its good fun anyway having a couple of good looking girls hanging off your arm and trying to sing along with you!

Here is a highly recommended primer on some of the KTVs in in the Malate area of Manila, along with other options.
I don't have any good WOMAN info for Raverboy, but anytime it looks Japanese, ask at the door if there is any entrance or "table" charge. I found at least one place that clearly had a charge on their pamphlet, but they assured me that it was "for the Japanese". I didn't go in so can't say much more than that. I'm sure if business is slow, as it seemed to be at the J places I passed, they will waive their entrance charge.
There is a place right across from Swagman, although I don't think it is KTV. I don't remember the name, maybe "Little Tokyo". I asked the door lady about entrance charge and she suggested I ask inside. Inside, there was the most adorable, cute little Filipina -- just the way the Japanese like them. I asked her about a table charge, but she didn't seem to understand. Well, I tend to get impatient when people don't answer my questions, so I walked out. I decided to go back another day, but they had a sign on the door saying they were closed for the next two days. Inside, there appeared to be a typical Filipino Christmas party in progress.
One thing I clearly noticed about LA Cafe. Early in 2006, most males in the back room were Japanese, with some Koreans. I think I was the only white boy venturing back there. That seems to have changed. Us old white farts have regained that territory, and more than a few formerly snobbish cuteys who use to cater to the Asians have now learned to put up with the white barbarians.
One lady I talked to said that some J guy got AIDS from LA Cafe and that info showed up on the Internet. Thus, far fewer Japanese customers. I have no idea if that is true - I don't believe anything I hear at LA Cafe and only believe half of what I see.
One more thing on the theme "Japanese". There is a tiny girl at Harry's bar that lived/worked in Japan and speaks pretty the language pretty well. Not sure about the set up at Harry's. It seems the waitresses can't be barfined, but there are GRO's working there. I saw a few that were doable, and some that were hideous. Nevertheless, the place is friendly and well run. The hags never approached me as they might at LA Cafe.

The japanese mongers are the best organized in the Phils, they have their own board (so to speak) but they also have a magazine or periodical which I beleive is put out online monthly. This Mag (I've seen the paper version) features articles, and info but also has a big section with girls bios, including virgins who are willing to "sell" their single commodity to the highest bidder. Much is arranged by seconds or associates, some of which are Filipino (Byots) pimps etc. Their is a Japiyuki section that has girls for sale to various clubs in japan (ie "contracts") and which clubs in japan employ which girl etc.
Very exclusive, they won't give it up unless your Japanese, I know that Phils NBI gets copies and checks things out for trafficking and missing girls every so often.
Most of the Jap clubs here are VERY exclusive, they generally DO NOT LIKE GAI JIN ie white foreigners around their club and generally will not allow you in, members only and you have to be Nihongo to get it. Other places are different, some in Davao are Japanese owned but so few Japs come their they allow "gai jin" and even rich Filipinos in, however, the Japs ae clued as to which women are "polluted" by non Japs and reserve the "clean:" ones for their fellows. Knew of one place in matina that was being organized by the Japanese. It was still being built a year ago.
Manila is more exclusive, if not by flat out barring you they do it by price, so if you walk into some place with beautiful girls, see a lot of Japs and are paying like P200 for a san Mig likely that is what they are doing.
The Nihongo are peculiar, Xman can probably tell you, but they dont like paying cheap for something, they equate expense with quality, so a P25 san mig being sold and consumed for P200 must be better than a P25 san Mig sold and consumed for the same price. Go figure.

The japanese mongers are the best organized in the Phils, they have their own board (so to speak) but they also have a magazine or periodical which I beleive is put out online monthly. This Mag (I've seen the paper version) features articles, and info but also has a big section with girls bios, including virgins who are willing to "sell" their single commodity to the highest bidder. One of the girls I ran across in the Phils had worked as a japayuki in a club in Japan on a few 6 month contracts. For each contract, she was paid around US$10000 plus tips, housing and meals. I don't have much to add to what SH said, but average J. pay is the highest in the world (sometimes depending on exchange rates) and average length of a holiday is rather short. Furthermore, J-land is clearly the most expensive land in the world. What some cheap charlies see as exorbitant is the bargain of a life time for some of the J people. If you have only 3 or 4 days, are you really going to waste time....1) walking to the airport arrivals to save money on taxis 2) chatting up a p4p girl in the hope of getting a GFE (Js don't speak english well, knowing that yen in understood by bargirls) 3) staying at the Swagman, with the racist Aussies (generalization - my bad), when the Diamond Hotel staff will kiss your yellow ass 4) etc.
Beer at a local PI place 30pesos. At high end Manila bars 200pesos. At a low end Japanese bar 250 pesos. You can make the same comparisons to almost anything. That room at the Diamond Hotel is dirt cheap to most Japanese.
Of course, some guys at ISG Phil like to exagerrate the situation. Someone suggested 3X3X3, or 3inch penis, 3min sex, 3000 tip. What a moronic thing to write. 3X might be the number of ladies as I rarely see a J with only one. Also, what kind of moron is going around measuring the penises of J males. I'll assume 3 inch is the soft measurement since putting a cold measure tape up next to my crank would assure a softy.
And it was a J guy who clued me into the cheapy windowless room which is under the stairs at the America Hotel in AC. (never saw him with more than one girl, btw). Generalizing about a race of 127 million people is pretty lame - expecially when the people generalizing don't know the difference betweent the 127 million Js and the 1 billion Chinese (see next paragraph).

And lastly, of course the Japanese have boards like this. I know it's hard to believe, but they have flush toilets too.
Ooops, one more "lastly". Japanese generally try to avoid confrontation or disagreement. Bargaining for discounts, especially in a language they don't know well, is probably unpleasant. I know myself that I've often been unhappy spending time bargaining with Filipinos when I would have much rather just paid a fair price and then gotten on with my holiday. Add that thinking onto the comment SH made about "prices and quality" and it's not to hard to see why they might pay a bit more....just to get on with their terribly short holidays.

The average beer price in a bar is 4-6 dollars. Yes, going to hostess bars is expensive but so is in most Western countries. In Japan you are not likely to get re\iped off like in Soho/London though. Even pfs in Japan can be somehow cheaper than Singapore or Hongong at prices starting from 100 dollars ( ST very ST of course). Sometimes I am amazed of the Manila/Makati prices are they can be even higher than the average entertainment places in Japan.

Quasarus is correct on a few points. Many years of deflation have lowered costs in Japan and in some cases you might find things cheaper than in the West. I've heard of tiny hotel rooms (in a converted flop house) available for under $30. But, if you need to rent an apartment in Tokyo you will need about $5000 or more just to get the key. Parking places for a car can cost several hundred dollars a month. Nice hotels charge per person -- and charge dearly. Travel and leisure tend to be expensive.

Whenever I visit tourist spots and such, I always see Japanese people traveling in large groups. Rarely do you see them traveling alone. Safety in numbers I suppose, which is smart because it reduces the risk of potential problems. But you get a much more complete experience if you travel alone or with a friend.

Jap clubs will like to give the impression that westerners "pollute" the women. However, the truth is that the average westerner has a much larger dick then a Japanese man and tends to stretch the vagina. If a Japanese man then fucks her, he wont fee a thing. I base this on the following:

Mi Foot: NOT very viable IMHO. Traffic in and out of the airport is HORRENDOUS mid day, so if you have only "a couple hours" forget it. Then there are the REPETITIVE security checks which take some time.
Also, the places nearest the airport (like Wild Duck on corner of Airport Road & Roxas, IF it is still open) are NOT open during the daytime (Manila is a nighttime town). There are love motels close by where you could arrange to meet a girl if you had it arranged in advance.

Hey, you can try Air Force 1 or Skytrek. They are open after 12 pm and they are on NAIA. I don't think there are that many cars during the middle of the day. However, after 4 pm, traffic is going to suck.
Security is fairly easy, unlike Colombia. The problem is getting through immigration, unless you are Filipino. That line is usually the fastest. However, the foreigner line is going to take you at least 15 minutes, if you are lucky.

Well, ventured out to famed Airforce One Tues night. Selection thru fishbowl was OK - nothing 9 and up. Made a mistake of picking a girl with big boob (A3). Let's just say she was BIG (AKA FAT). Just a few things about exchange rate, for the US dollar it is not so great, hovering around P49. 00. Depends on HOW much money you bring, whatever you bring make sure it is NEW, CRISP, UNFOLDED, UNTORN UNSOILED. I repeat DO NOT FOLD IT! The change rate quoted most places is for LARGE DENOM US CURRENCY IE 50's or 100's, YOU WILL GET LESS FOR 20's etc. I would change at the airport (notorious lousy rate) for only enough for cab fare etc. (Do a US 20 and thats it) leave the rest in your shoe, sock or money belt.
You can swap in your hotel but you will get a lower rate, (DITTO FOR BANKS) sometimes a peso and a half lower BUT you have the safety of doing it in a hotel and placing it in a safe deposit. YOU CAN GET A BETTER EXCHANGE RATE WITH THE CHINESE MERCHANTS, ALL OF THEM trade currency and give you the best rate BUT only for US 100's they don't like ol' Gen Grant, Andy or Abe.completely safe, they have their own "security system" are legitimate. Look for an area with a lot of Western Union outlets.
You may have to ask around for this as I am unfamiliar with Manila. I have noticed that ROBINSONS, a chain dept store HAS much better rates than Gaisano also a chain store, I mean the best.
DO NOT CHANGE MONEY ON THE STREET NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE RATE IS, YOU RUN THE RISK OF COUNTERFEIT!

To go to EDSA Complex, you have to take a taxi, about 80.00 pesos.
To P Burgos in Makati, the taxi fare may be 100 -150.00.

I just reported last week on this under Cebu and general, you need to be aware of the latest Scam called "the help me girl" which is being used in Cebu
lately. Guy goes to an ATM, nobody around, no guards or at night or whatever. Withdraws cash and turns to go and sees a cute little girl behind him about to use her card. She smiles, bats her eyes and says "Sir, can you help me use the ATM? I dont know how" Why sure lil darlin! As were hunched over the machine playing sir Galahad up comes her BF(s) who adeptly place a blade to our kidneys and demands the cash you just withdrew.
The other rip offs are more traditional the ol' grab and run, usually a street urchin will wait until you insert your card and it pops out, he'll grab it and tear ass, or your cash if your slow about getting it out of the chute.
Of course there is the nimble fingered pick pockets.
It is best to use the ATM's at the Mall where security is present, however, this dosen't dissuade pickpockets. Ditto for the ones outside banks, which during the day often have armed guards around. You got to be aware of your surroundings, who is watching you and who is crowding you. Many Bank ATms have booths where you enter one at a time, learn where they are.
I use this method,in the PI, the USA or WHEREVER I AM. I normally dont carry a wallet and keep my credit card etc. in my sock, if I approach ATM I transfer beforehand to my front pocket, keep my hand on it until acessing the machine, pop the card in and cover chute with my big fat hand. Upon retreival the card goes in the front pocket again and hand body moves to money chute, front of pants pressed up against the machine like Im screwing it, grab the cash, place in front pocket, hand in pocket, wait for receipt, take with other hand and dispose of later.
IF YOU PAY FOR ANYTHING WITH A CREDIT CARD ALWAYS WATCH THE CLERK, DO NOT LET SOMEONE TAKE IT OUT OF YOUR SIGHT MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO "double swipes", another trick here. ALWAYS SCRUTINIZE THE RECEIPT.
I've never had ANY problem here with atm withdrawal but it pays to be cautious.

I was at mall of asia last month also on Sunday mostly family shopping many resturant didn't see too many pick up around, I still like ayala mall in makati better mall of asia is not as big as I thought it will be compare to the mall of American or the Edmonton mall.

I rarely go into Makati. I prefer Robinsons in Ermita for all the above, although the layout can be confusing. The wings are named after the streets they face. I came up with the FAG system. F = faura, A = Adriactico, G = gil --- and have a map inside my head. With my back to the bay, the mall is FAG, with F on my left. Sorry if that doesn't make any sense to anyone. There is a great place for cell phoned (new, used, supplies) on the first floor. I think it's in the A section. This area can be crowded, which isn't a bad thing if you have some questions about cell phones.....

I had a three-week Phil vacation in late Dec, early Jan. Although I go to Phil for more than mongering, I ended up having intercourse with only seven women. I asked a guard, but these guys are generally useless. I’ve found that you’ll usually get better information by asking a woman, rather than a man. Friggin machismo culture means the men will give you an answer even if they don’t have a clue. Eventually, I was directed back to the money exchangers. Duh. I should have realized that they would also sell load cards. Load cards can and are sold at a variety of places. Even the front desk at your hotel might sell load cards.
I ended up at the Rothman Hotel – a place I hadn’t really thought of much until someone recommended it at ISG Phil. Thanks guys.
I make my way to LA Café in the late afternoon. I avoid eye contact and quickly make my way to a table near the ladies rest room. I tried once to make for myself a pant, as a matter of test. They simply could not manage to make a decent job. I kept sending the pant back for correction and it only seemed to get worst and worst. Eventually, they just gave up.
Maybe I was unlucky and you will manage to find something good, but don't expect the Philippines to be Thailand in this respect.

Nobody beats the Indian Tailors in BKK or Thailand, just my 2 cents. I got two suits from the Guy who runs the big shop in front of the Ambasssador Hotel in Bkk 199 US for two pants, coat and white shirt 2 years ago. By contrast I had a "barong Tagalong" made in Davao, not what you would expect for the money. I'm sure you can find a good tailor, the best ones in the PI are run by "Byots" they do a decent job but dont look for the quality of material or workmanship the "Kak" will give you.

You get what you paid for to get a suit to fit right you need a good taylor and the one in bangkok is not very good , price is cheap like spam dog said but to get top taylor and quality I think Hong Kong and Singpore is the best in asia .

Checked into Cherry Blossoms yesterday. Asked the doorman this morning if he knew where Padre Burgos Street was and he replied in the negative. Headed over to Robinson's and asked a cab driver how much to G-Spot on P-Burgos and he said 300PHP. Is this about right? I assume then that P-Burgos is not really within walking distance from Cherry Blossoms?

G-spot is not on P. Burgos its down and around the street from LA Cafe in Ermite. It roughly takes 75p to get to P. Burgos from LA Cafe also...dont let the cab drivers take you for a ride (literally)!

The Hyatt Casino in Pedro Gil has a full gym with both machines and free weights - plus sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and olympic size pool.
Its only 2 blocks from the LA Cafe in the heart of Ermita so you could try emailing them and see if you could use the facility for a small fee, or keep your eye out for a fellow monger staying there who could invite you in as a guest, no problems.

so, i come back from manila on january 20th. i have to say that i enjoyed very much and i want to live again soon as is possible. i have caught very much at the robinson stores and less to the stores in makati, however it is necessary to be a lot of attention to the **** ones which are a great deal of. l.a cafe i have not found it so bad, but you have to wait for and not satisfy quickly. the rate in la was from 1000 to 2000 ps for short time, maybe a little expensive but they was very pretty, believe me.
no bar girls in boracay so you need to bring from manila.

Most all the better class hotels have private or corp. cars for airport service. Walk through immagration and outside and they will have your name on a cardboard sign. You might be required to pre pay but whats 10 bucks.Most cabs are the same price from the airport to the Manila / Makati hotels. Yes you can find cheeper but after 15-20 hrs on a plain I will never B---- about that kind of money. After my shower, first boom boom and some much needed rest, they will hear about the 'lets fuck the foreigner out of his money for this taxi ride" every time.
Get a hundred or so in cash or pay in greenbacks if you wish. Just remember 10-12 dollars is more than enough. And thats all and a dollar yes, a dollar tip is ok also! Remember they might make 4-8 dollars a night for there pocket so why give more. It's a whole different world here.

I will be in Manila for a few days in March for the first time. I will be staying at Cherry Blossoms. I have been reading through the forum religiously and cannot find a definitive (if there is any) way/protocol of taking out a LA Cafe girl to my hotel (Cherry Blossoms). Some have advised to take separate taxis, but in my case, LA Cafe is practically walking distance from CB. And another question arises after reading, should I just walk out in hand with my catch of the day? (Some have stated police would question your reason walking with her). Any advice would be great. Maybe I'm just being over paranoid, and I guess a little anxious to get there as well. I just want to make the most of my trip with the great advice from you guys. Most of the girls who frequent the LA Cafe know the locations of all the local hotels. Just give them your hotel name, room number, and cell number. Trust me, they will show up. No need to walk down the street with your catch if you don't feel comfortable doing so. I have escorted girls down the street in the past and never had a problem with it. You can always say your going to get a bite to eat and talk or whatever. But remember, times change rapidly in the philippines, so what was ok today may not be ok tomorrow. I will be in Manila for a few days in March for the first time. I will be staying at Cherry Blossoms. I have been reading through the forum religiously and cannot find a definitive (if there is any) way/protocol of taking out a LA Cafe girl to my hotel (Cherry Blossoms). Some have advised to take separate taxis, but in my case, LA Cafe is practically walking distance from CB. And another question arises after reading, should I just walk out in hand with my catch of the day? (Some have stated police would question your reason walking with her). Any advice would be great. Maybe I'm just being over paranoid, and I guess a little anxious to get there as well. I just want to make the most of my trip with the great advice from you guys. If anyone will be in Manila mar 9-11 let me know.

Yep thats how simple it is - take her by the hand or arm in arm and just walk out like you've done it a hundred times before! Attitude is everything! I would very much doubt if you would have any trouble whatsoever, especially on such a short stroll of only a couple of blocks - I have certainly never even come close to any problems.
Hell why just one? Go for it - take two!!

I recommend going to 2nd floor and departure level at the airport. Taxis there, my experience, are more than happy to avoid queing downstairs and will drive you to hotel on meter. The guards upstairs always friendly to me and help me to get a taxi when it arrives with passengers.
Approx. cost to Ermita and LA Cafe is about 150 peso (3 USD) if I remember right. Never accept offers with fixed price, you can never win when they start 2 or 3 times higher :)
The taxi mafia may hassle them if they pick you up right in front upstairs. I just start walking with the flow of traffic and tell them I will pay no more than 200P to Ermita (meter is about 150 as GF noted, but I carry lots of gear and do not mind giving a small tip). Rarely will more than 1 or two refuse before I find a taker. I used the same tactic for many years going to Angeles and never paid more than 1000P plus tolls.
gentlemen, never, ever conjecture the philippine police or anyone else in authority in the pi, handle them differently, always be polite and respectful. never "call their bluff", that will get you into more shit than anything. they always have the upper hand. they can stop you for anything, telling them it is "none of their business" is foolish, are you aware that you can be arrested for being disrespectful? you can and you will, i know of two cases in which some poor schlump was deported for nothing more than being "disrespectful", no curse words, just being adamant over some minutea.
i take it this is a hypothetical situation, walking back from la cafe (or anywhere else) with your bar find and being confronted by police. if this is a real or factual situation or ongoing, somebody please tell us so.
it is unlikely you will be stopped by police or authority figures (including the barangay captain or his aides called "tunood" or "kagawad" who are enforcers). unless they have a reason. the reason may be:
a. there is some sort of crackdown going on, in this case you have no leg to stand on, prostitution, consorting with know prostitutes, lewd behavior, disturbances affecting the public morals etc are illegal in the phils, they can hit you with any one of those things.
b. the girl you are with is ****.
c. the person you are with is a crook, thief, setting you up, she maybe one of those knockout specialists who are plying their trade lately in cebu but i understand are more prolific in manila and ac. beleive it or not, sometimes the pi police are actually looking out for your dumb ass.
d. it is some sort of shake down or scam and the girl is in on it. maybe they are not real cops? in which case see "a".
remember, everybody knows what goes on in la cafe, g spot, the malls and other pick up places. they get pay offs in one form or another from those who operate there, the little strumpet may be screwing that cop who just stopped you. your best bet sometimes is to play dumb, claim the girl was your "penpal" who asked to meet you in this place. yes you are going back to the hotel, you are going to have coffee, lunch or whatever in the hotels cafe and talk. said politely, respectfully etc, probably let you go.
remember, never pay off anybody unless you have done something wrong.
also be aware that election season is fast approaching, some candidate gets on a moral high horse and decides to eradicate all the sin (likely confound the competitor who owns or is connected to certain bars or areas), that is usually when you see crap like "a" above.

Then, of course, they'd ask for a fine and maybe worse. Did not hear the same from a *pro* later on in the evening, but we walked a block anyway to catch a cab. Funny story in that as well since I managed to get the same driver as with the first girl. We had not started driving yet when he had already explained to the second girl that I had been in his cab a few hours earlier with a different girl, all in tagalog obviously. My second night in Manila, yesterday visited Cafe Havana and Flamingo so today decided to visit Edsa Entrtaiment Center.
Started with the first bar on the right side. Is it the PIT-STOP?
Nice group of dancers (maybe 15-20) on the stage and very friendly mamasuns.
There were one great looking dancer on the stage that I could not take off my eyes.
There were no clients there so I knew no one will take her away.
Next visited the Fire. Whatever. The nextbar. No so good looking dancers but much more then the other bars (maybe 20-30 dancers)
Went back to the first bar and BF the dancer I watched before.
1000PS for the bar and 2000PS for ST.

Ok you just say nothing right, I am sure that way cost you money. Please remember they don't know who you or I know. You keep your wits drop a nome or two and thats that. I saw the police come to a location 2 time in 1 hour and the foreigner in question is still here. I have known him over a year and they walked away with a whole bar full of whitnesses. Against him at that. They target us right because of money. They also know the same money spread around might get them fired. Or is being used at the election time to help a mayor or another elected official.
Run and cower down if you want sometimes you roll the dice and winn. Two times in one night, guns vans, a dog and a mummasan and 15 bar flys against him. I would say he did ok for a foreigner. Please know that this sweedish guy has a nack for trouble when drinking. I am very surprised he is not in jail could be he has two much bs and everyone knows this place has enough of that already.

I go one further, I never leave the LA Cafe with a girl. I either tell her my hotel and meet her in the lobby, or give her cab fare.
My last trip I stayed at Oxford Suites. Got tired of the P. Burgos scene and went to the LA Cafe. Met two gals there and gave them cab fare to my hotel. They were actually waiting for me at the door when I got back.

They questioned me on why I had 2 beautiful 8 and a 9 girls in my room past 11pm.I thought I was going to be jailed. So I told them they were old friends. Yeah it worked , but the whole situation was to Fishyy. And I dont mean the ladies. 2 other hotels wouldnt let the girls in.
My Question: What Hotels should I stay at so I'm not bothered or confronted by hotel staff about my bar girl staying the night?

You should probably share the names of the hotels you stayed at during your last trip so others won't make the same mistake by staying there, or so that others can give you feed-back on their own stays at the same hotels. Also, there's a thread dedicated strictly to Manila Hotels. Maybe try posting there. Lastly,.....RTFF!

Why would any hotel want to know why a guest has people with them and what the fuck would ever be the reason for that question here in the p. I. This is the number one reason people come here the gals. I know they do it here but what and why is my question. I know some phillipino famlies get a room and the next morning the hotel has 12 extra people trying for the free breakfast. The 900 gallons of water they use and the line they string between the walls to dry the wash.
One guy with 1-2-3-4-5 girls should be self explanatory in my book. The guy wants some action and has the ones he wants to party with right. Tell the hotel upon check in you want to regester a guest or two later on and that should be ok. Get the surprises out of the way fast so later you can have a ball or two.
After all they take the cash and thats all they should ask of anyone as long as you are respectful of others and sont tear up the joint.

On average I paid around 3000 pesos to the girl for staying all night which I know is a little rich but like I said earlier I had a good reference from last years girl and treated the payment as an investment in upholding my rep as a good guy and not someone looking for the cheapest lay. And lets be serious. 3000 pesos comes to about $80 aust. Which I think is cheap for an all night stay!

There is a curious trend in all good mongering destinations, and that is that prices eventually drift toward the prices in the west. The reason for this is that people drop into these places and value pussy like it is valued in France, the UK, Australia and the US. If you are going to use those benchmarks, why leave home to monger?
Really, it is the law of economics. If some bloke is willing to overpay by 300%, then the women feel that they can work 1 out of 3 evenings. Meaning less work. For the same amount. In effect, by being "a nice guy" one is constraining supply, and fundamental economics would dictate that prices will then go up. So, the next time someone visits and wants to pay a 200% premium to be "a nice guy" to a prostitute, the price may be 6, 000 pesos.
I do agree with the premise of your post that you will always get more mileage from treating the women well. I, however, treat them well to get a better value, not a worse value.
