By far you get the best rates using ATM but that could be effected by what your bank may charge you for using an ATM machine overseas. Besides that, there are money exchange places all over and for most part the exchange rates are similar except the one in the airport that has the worse rate.

When you change money near the baggage retrieval area, they always offer to sell you a SIM Card. So you can have one in the taxi already going to the hotel!
One more thing not related to phones, but prompted by this question: the best prices for hotels are to be had at the counter in the public area outside the baggage retrieval area. Especially if you know the various hotels and there typical pricing. Its last minute only (you can only book on the day). Some real bargains for top hotels.

Unless things has changed, when you buy a SIM card in Singapore, it MUST be registered before you can use it. The way it works is that they put your first page of passport on a scanning device and they enter a few things on the machine and you are registered. The problem is that you can buy the SIM card 24 hours a day, but the registration part only works from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM! Some places like the place at airport has a few "pre-registered" SIM card had been registered using someone else's name and ID and you will pay a little bit more for those SIM cards. I bought mine 3-4 years ago at the gift shop at hotel as she was closing the shop for night and the only time I had an issue with it being registered in someone else's name was that I called for a taxi and they kept calling me Mr. XYZ which I assume is the shop owner.
As for the hotel desk at the airport, I have used it and yes, you get dirt cheap rate. However, I have only used it to book the hotel for one night and I believe that is all you can do. Rates for following nights may not be as cheap as the first night.
And for cheap exchange rate, if you are not going to use ATM and want to go to shop, the rate is only cheap if you are close to that shop! If you have to take a taxi to go to Mustafa to get a cheap rate, counting the round trip taxi fare, makes it a very expensive exchange rate! :)

Try the tea dances at any of the clubs in Orchard Towers from around 2pm til 7pm. Plenty of opportunity there with the domestic worker crowd as well as various other fun-seekers. Sundays ONLY though.

The Marriott at the corner of Scotts Road has two places. In the basement you get Bar none which is quite busy Friday/Sat night. There is a cover charge, live band and usually plenty of talent but no WG. Cover charge varies but should be around 20SGD incl a drink. If you have enough energy to interact, try your luck. From around 1am onwards, head upstairs to the "living room". You get a nice mix of FLs. Last time there were a couple of mongolians if you are into that. they asked for 300SGD LT so I didnt take it further. Seemed like the same pricing as Brix.
Clarke Quay
Saturday/Friday/Wed night, take a taxi to Clarke Quay. From 10 - 11 pm you get plenty of opportunities. Walk through the center of the complex past the fountaint towards the bridge. There is usually an ice cream stand. You get some FLs here. if there is nobody there, turn left towards Hooters, there are usually some at the corner. just keep your eyes open. You usually get taller WG and larger assets. pricing varies but for foreigners 150 ST. I would be surprised if anyone could bargain this lower.
From 11:30pm onwards, Attica Club has plenty of talent. Try your luck with the normal ones, but you can spot the WGs easily. They usually hang around the first bar when you enter or in the smoking patio. I was lucky enough to meet a Thai and Indo girl upstairs (pass the patio and walk up the stairs). You need to exchange numbers and follow up. A lot of them upstairs just come for a party weekend to Singapore and usually very open. If that doesnt work, check out the WGs. Cover acharges vary, should be between 20 -30sgd.

Brix tonight was reasonably packed, but still feasable to stay in a normal atmosphere (ie one could talk an dbe understood!).
Wide choice of asian and a couple of africans plus a good selection of CIS. Not as agressive as at OT, some asian tried a soft approach but when they quickly understood it was not the night for me, they moved away in the same discreet way as they approached me.

If your phone works ok, then you should be able to send SMS as well. I have done this many times, even to another "foreign" phone in Sing. Some networks may have problems with MMS though. Just remember that international rates will apply.

Went to Orchard Towers and headed for Peyton Place the Filipino Bar in the basement.
Lots of Filipino ladies here. On a Saturday night in June, there were about 50 to 60 WGs with a ratio of about 4 or 5 WGs to 1 male customer. A sign of tough economic times for the ladies?

It is entirely a question of what you want. If you want a ST quickie then close to the Towers is good but if you want a LT GFE then a little bit of distance helps.
The other thing is that as you go away for Orchard Road you tend to get more bang for your buck from the hotels.
I tend to stay at East Coast area where there are other bars (PSC, Roxy and Joo Chiat) and there is more of a local experience with restaurants etc.

I paid 100 $ing each for 2 Viets for 2 shots in my suite at the Meritus Mandarin. It's a buyer's market. The Meritus is a cab-ride away; there's a taxi-stand on the side road (on the main road they'll try to make a deal with no meter).
LT is $150, don't get drunk, don't be late. The one's you find late are the one's who are perpetually in the bars/OT - these like hanging out with their friends, doing nothing, not getting any business, just waifs enjoying "night-life".

Agree with what FP has said. I've sampled some of the girls and have always been happy. Some really hot ones as well. They seem to have a rotation back and forth to Thailand so if you like one of them there is a chance they will be back in a couple of months.

Starting to know my way around Singapore and ventured to OT again last weekend. Had previously been a few times and explored one of the bars in the basement by the backstairs. Forget the name but a Filipino bar. They had a band and in between sets 2 go go dancers were up on stage showing what they had. One was quite good looking. Lots of women around but didn't really get approached and didn't strike up any conversations.
Also hit Ipanema for the first time. WOW! It was full wall to wall with women. Far more women than men and I have to say that quite a few were lookers. Some very aggressive ones and I was literally overwhelmed by what I was seeing. I did a circuit downstairs and headed up stairs to meet a mate. Upstairs bar was much quieter and some lookers up there as well. Loads of go go dancers up on the bar and stage dancing. No clothes came off when I was there but some I would definitely take home. Are they available for take away?
Was with non-mongers so didn't get a chance to chat up the girls and ask prices but will be back to check it out again.
Have ventured into FHM on the 3rd floor (?) a few times to have a drink and chat up the Filipina girls there. Standard drinks bar with Filipina companions. Quick update from last night:

I have been to Sing many times but never to Brix.I think there is a much wider range of pricing (both initially asked and finally agreed) at Brix than anywhere else. I think going to Brix is a bigger commitment than say Ipanema (in terms of dressing up expensively, putting on make-up, risking being turned away at the door, and a much lengthier chat-up time), so there is probably only going to be one ST customer each evening on average. You will pay for that.
The girl I was with goes to Brix occasionally, but can't always get in. I would guess she would charge and get $200 ST when she is standing in Brix, but $150 when she is standing in Ipanema.
Incidentally, tonight I'm going to hit Brix. The best trick for business travellers (if you can get away with it) is to buy a bottle of wine on credit card and charge to expenses as a meal. Then share your wine with a few selected girls. Then if nothing takes your fancy (ha!) go to Ipanema. :)

And that is an important point. Negotiation is part of the game. While every girl hopes that they will get their asking price, I think that they all believe that they'll be negotiated down. How far they will go is up to them and your negotiation skills.
When I was in Brix a few weeks ago, the Brazilian (I think that is what she said) wanted $400 for her to come to my room upstairs and I couldn't get out of her for how long (ie, ST or LT) and she wouldn't budge.

thought i would add some information about a place that hasn't been mentioned much in this thread.
i was in bangkok for a weekend of fun last month (still have to find time to write my reports about that trip) and met a fellow monger in a bar in soi cowboy. he was a long time resident of sing and shared some great info with me when he found out i was living in sing. he mentioned the usual places like ot and brix etc. but my curiousity was peaked when he talked about paramount plaza since it sounded a lot like some of the bars i had been to around burgos during my only trip to manila.
so finally last weekend i managed to find the time to get out and visit it. i rtff and found some reports mentioning paramount. wasn't quite sure what to expect but jumped in a taxi to see what the night would bring. it is off the beaten track so you need to taxi it and use the mrt. taxi drivers definitely know where it is and the one i had got a little grin on his face and asked me if i was going there for a drink. told him yes and left it at that.
got there and entered the front doors. it is kinda similiar to ot in that it is a shopping plaza that has other legit places open during the day (or at least that is what it appears to me). i arrived about 11pm and made a walk up the length of the ground floor and there were at least 6 bars with obviously dressed working girls walking in and out of the bars. there were some touts outside trying to convince you to have a drink in their bar. not too aggresive though.

$250 LT is the absolute most you or anybody else should pay for LT, either Asian or EE, and no more than $150 ST. Obviously, the girls will ask for more but do yourself and the rest of us a favor and stand your ground on the price. If they won't budge on it, simply find another.

Thai WL from sidewalk fishtank in Geylang, SGD50/ST session of around 30 mins, including room and 1 condom. Again, this is the usual price for locals.
Vietnamese FL from Bars at Joo Chiat/Geylang Lorong 30+, they usually ask for SGD100 ST. If they like you, try to turn the ST into LT with an extra SGD50 thrown in or nothing, if they really really like you. Of course, YMMV.

Brix is playing to a different market. There are rich businessmen who wouldn't be seen dead in OT, so they will pay extra for the Brix convenience and sophistication. You don't have to join them, but if you do it won't drive up prices in OT because that market is limited (and limited by the hotel bouncers too).

To be honest I was rather suspicious of it at first - it seemed too good to be true. But actually, it's for real. Don't know why more people don't mention it. I used 2ndHome and I think Club99
The price (Singapore dollars) includes everything. You may want to leave a tip - I didn't and that didn't seem a problem. So frankly it is better value than picking up a FL from OT. And the girls I met were clean, friendly, very pleasant; I wouldn't say particularly gfe but not far off.
The upside: 90 minutes guaranteed, 2 pops, service attitude (ie shower together, massage in shower, perhaps BJ. She does the work and you know what you will be getting). Some do early morning specials from 10.30am for $20 less.
The downside: She will have 6-7 customers a day so might be a bit jaded by the evening (so probably wouldn't book o/n on that basis). You can't really tell what the girls look like from the photos. Can't guarantee language skills. But that's about it.

Yep, most girls come for a month or two (visa extension usually needed). When they first arrive, the house will sell them as 'newly arrived, who want's first blood' on their forums, offer a slight discount (eg S$2-30 off), and ask for a good 'field report' on the forums. Pictures, detail description of their 'services', etc. all provided. Excellent alternative to OT and Geylang.

If you'd permit, please allow me to put things in perspective.
Indo SW in Geylang, SGD35/ST session of around 30 mins, including room and 1 condom. This is the usual price for locals. If you're a foreigner, they may try to price gouge.
Thai WL from sidewalk fishtank in Geylang, SGD50/ST session of around 30 mins, including room and 1 condom. Again, this is the usual price for locals.
Vietnamese FL from Bars at Joo Chiat/Geylang Lorong 30+, they usually ask for SGD100 ST. If they like you, try to turn the ST into LT with an extra SGD50 thrown in or nothing, if they really really like you. Of course, YMMV.
Orchard Towers: I very very very seldom budge from SGD100-150 ST, SGD150-200 LT. Moreover, I try to keep to the lower end of those ranges, unless she's really, really hot. I monger in all the capital cities of SE Asia, so she's gotta be something special for me to pay the higher end of my range, or to make an exception.
IMHO, ALL of you are overpaying at Brix. But then again, that's none of my business and, supply will simply push the limits of what the market will bear. There are several tailors in Lucky Plaza, and probably in most other bigger shopping malls. You'll also find a few around the Chinatown area.
Unfortunately, I can't comment on price or quality. But if they have the same ethics as camera shops, as a foreigner you are likely to get ripped off.

a few years ago i had a suit and a few shirts made up at just mens, which is in tanglin centre. was quite happy with everything. they'd be one of many decent tailors in singapore but i'd steer well clear of lucky plaza.
also good advice on the two fittings needed. suggest you head straight to your tailor as soon as you check into your hotel and already have a good idea in mind for fabric, style, vents, pockets etc.
in fact, if you can find pictures of the type of suit you want. let's say you want them to basically 'copy' an armani design. all the better. these places have photo albums or catalogues showing the suits they can make, of course, but the more certain you are about exactly what you want, the better.
then you'll need to come back in maybe two days for your first fitting, allow maybe a day for adjustments, then a second fitting. allow another day for minor final adjustments, then collect your suit.
the tailor can give you a better idea of his timetable, of course.

I've looked through the forum here but can't seem to find any info on this specifically. I have a Filipina friend who is currently in the Philippines but wants to come and visit Singapore. She does not have a job offer here but would use some of the time to see what she could find. The rest of the time she will relax and sight see and keep me company! I had initially thought this would be a straightforward process to get her a ticket and get her over but I've heard otherwise once I started to look into this. I've heard some real horror stories about Filipinas getting turned away at customs and put back on a plane to Manila. Originally I thought she could use my name address etc and tell them I'm looking after her. But a local friend of mine tells me not to do that since it will go down "in my file" and if she gets in any trouble (overstays visa or gets caught doing anything she shouldn't be doing.) it will come back to me. I could lose my EP or my employer would not be able to renew it when it expires.
I have a few websites that give you the basics and the official government policy but does anyone have any experience with this type of situation? I've heard everything from "budget" airlines that land at the budget terminal tend to make it harder for the Filis to get through customs and get a visit visa so it's better to fly Singapore Airlines or something like that.
Ideally I'll buy her her ticket and she stays with me and pays me back and she goes to Malaysia to extend her visa. Again not sure how this works or how easily it can be done.

I've been to Tulip in BKK and have an idea what you are looking for. My experience is limited here but I'm slowly spreading my wings and "making the rounds" in Sing to see what is on offer.
I think Geylang might provide something along the lines of what you want but I can't confirm anything specifically like Tulip. The last two reports highlight one of the major drawbacks of freebies- sticky dates. I want to add some addtitional information regarding WG at Orchard Towers I had when I was in Singapore.

Last time I have been to Singapore in October and Geylang is getting worse. Almost no girls on the streets and I was never a friend of the fishtanks because of a lot of bad experience there. I have been reading the posts about availabilty and quality of girls both in Singapore and HK with interest.
In my expereince there has been a "tighteneing" of supply by immigration but there are still plenty of girls getting through.

DBNot that I disagree but in response to the original poster, I do agree that the numbers were down. I was there recently and agree it's far from what it was like just last year. This was the 1st time I'd ever gone to OT and leaving empty handed. Yes, I too only need one gal at a time but when both quality and quantity of OT gals are down, I couldn't find any I like. In the past, this would never happen as there were so many cuties to choose from. Good show for posting the pic, though they don't look much like locals to me. Did you get a proper look at the IC? And out of interest, which hotel? I guess they were wanting to scuttle back to OT for another trick, which is a common problem with many OT girls.
My advice is to *never* pay up front for an OT (or any FL) girl. I often fly into Singapore on the UA Tokyo flight that lands around midnight and have always been able to find something decent at OT at that time. There should still be decent selection at that time. Most likely you will get a girl coming back for round 2 on the night. You might be able to spot something decent on the street headed back from one of the hotels. If you are really lucky you might even snag something on the elevator on the way out of the hotel after round 1.

Reasonable strategy, and one employed by myself at times. OT and the area around is your best bet, though you might want to have the cab transit Geylang Lorong 12 on your way to the hotel, if you like street action (95% of the time now dead, but it's on the way for the cab anyway). Do not order room service, because 1) you'll pay more, 2) you might get a bait and switch and 3) the girl may not show up. Your best bet is to just look around the OT/Brix area.
For such a short stay, I'd use a cheaper hotel in the Bugis area, like the Hotel 81 Bencoolen (S$98 net) or Santa Grand Hotel Bugis (S$140 net, and new), or use wotif or priceline to bid for a hotel in that region. I prefer to stay down that way because it's closer to the airport and further from OT, so the girl is less likely to do a runner. However, you don't have to leave for the airport until 9 am for an 11 am flight, and you are unlikely to get a runner at 2 am, so whatever your budget and preference...
I will be visiting Singapore later this month and wanted to get thoughts on where I should go for safe fun. I must admit, while I love the hobby, I am always a bit tense and scared of getting caught by higher authorities (even thought I know the profession is somewhat legal in S'Pore).
Here is my situation, I would prefer be serviced at a brothel or massage parlor and looking for GFE experience if possible. Sounds like Geylang is my best bet. But how are the facilities? Are they clean? safe? is it a pleasurable experience or really in-and-out services (btw - will also post on Geylang link). And more importantly how is the quality? Will I find better looking girls there? Or am I better off cruising OT.

For the client, prostitution is absolutely legal in Singapore, so no worries there. While you can get a good experience in Geylang or massage places, in-and-out and rushed services are also very common.
It sounds like you really want that GFE, overnight experience back at the hotel. Either ditch your co-workers ("Oh, I couldn't get into your hotel, so I booked elsewhere"), or just take the girl to Hotel 81 Bencoolen, for either an ST session (S$30 for 2 hours), or pony up and get a room all night (S$100). You can pick up and leave OT discretely through the back entrance, and remember to bring your passport with you, because you will need it to book the room.

Plenty sound advice on here.
You will find action in Geylang, but Geylang is more hit and miss for LT and many of the houses will be closed at that hour. If you aren't on too tight a budget, I'd book a room within walking range of OT and take a taxi directly there. The airport is efficient and you could be in your room in as little as 40 minutes after landing.
There should still be a decent selection around OT, though this will vary according to the day of the week - so will the hotel rates.
As already stated, for an 11am flight, especially if you already have a boarding pass, you can leave a later than 7.30am from Orchard, 2 hours before departure should be comfortable. I've often taken the cab, cleared check in and immigration and am in the departure lounge within 30 minutes.
For others on a stopover who may have less time and maybe are concerned about budget, Geylang is a good option. It's a little closer to the airport and can be reached by MRT. Geylang hotels are generally much cheaper than downtown and offer 'day' and 'transit' rates and are almost always available on walk up.
Even in the current situation where there is less P4P on the street, action is still easy to find. Even those new to Singapore should be able to fit a Geylang visit into a 4 hour stopover.

You won't have a problem with LE in Singapore, either with a FL girl or in any parlour. This is much more of an issue for the girl (working on a visitor pass) or the parlour (providing extra services) than for you.
The massage parlours in OT are legal but definitely aren't legal for extra service. More important, as OT has many visitors without much experience of the city, anything bought there (massage, suit, camera....) may well have the 'chump factor' added to the price and deducted from the service. The only exception is for the girls, where making use of the tips on this forum gives a monger a significant advantage when negotiating.
One option, as others have stated is to take an OT girl to a second (budget) hotel room that you've booked. However if you're discreet you should be able to get a girl in and out of your room without your colleagues noticing. All hotels are totally GF and won't give you or the girl any hassle. As long as they know a girl is your visitor, she will be allowed to your room alone. If you want to be really discreet the bell captain and front desk staff will help you. Remember to keep the noise down and don't choose an obvious skank.
I'd definitely take a trip to Geylang. If you can slip away from your colleagues maybe take your dinner there to acclimatise, then take a stroll around and observe what's available. You're welcome to PM me for recommendations.
As others have stated, you must show your passport if you need to book any hotel room, including ST.

There will be plenty of choices around 2-3am and later. Quality depends on your taste and deteriorates as it get later/earlier. If company is paying for the hotel, I would stay in Orchard, otherwise Geylang can be an option to explore.

Very good point. And for comfort, you may wish to stock up on condoms in your home base, rather than on your travels. I've had size problems with some (not all) condoms bought in Asia, even international brands. I assume I'm around average size for a western guy.

It depends on the hotel. A lot of hotels make you use your room key card to work the elevator. That does sometimes create problems, but in the one of few situations I have encountered with that, they called up to my room and asked if I was expecting a visitor. Once I said it was ok, they put her on the elevator for me.
Otherwise under most circumstances and in most of the major hotels in Singapore, she should be able to go straight on up to the room on her own. I suppose if it is really late, someone may challenge her if she hesitates or really looks trashy, but during normal hours there are always people coming and going.
In Singapore though half the fun is going down to OT and picking your date. Of course then you will have to walk her through the lobby. If you are worried about co-workers, explain the situation to her and just have her follow you.
Just remember that most hotels are very aware of the fact that working girls come and go and do their best to not interfere. However, they do have an obligation to maintain safety and security for their guests and will intervene in any situation they perceive threatens that.

Thor's post sums up the situation perfectly. The hotel will generally be helpful and at worst will want to check a girl is legitimately your visitor.
Remember the hotel has other guests and a reputation to maintain, so decent and discreet behaviour by both you and the girl will help, as will Thor's suggestion of not choosing someone too trashy. It wouldn't necessarily be a problem to get a couple of half dressed skanks whose name you couldn't remember into Fullerton, but it would be frowned on a little.
As long as you are respectful of the hotel and other guests the bell staff or reception staff will help you. Asking one of the bell staff to escort a girl to your room is ok, as would be getting reception staff to put the girl in an elevator.
As always choose your girl carefully. If you happen to choose an OT girl who isn't too battle hardened and maybe on her first tour of duty she may be a little nervous, so explain things clearly. That's not at all a stupid question, my friend. It's a situation many of us find ourselves in.

I have to say in all my trips to SG, I have never encountered a Girl "unfriendly" hotel (have stayed around orchard, up scotts and in the Quay area and the area around Merlion). And, PE, I have not encounted any girls who carried a long dress with them to change. WOW. I suspect the hotels know the story, and honestly, they have nothing to lose by being polite and looking the other way. For example, my last trip, I walked into the Orchard parade hotel (through the front door) with a Viet on each arm (yes, I know, bad move to take 2 viets much less one, I learned my lesson). Yes, that hotel has a side door also and I've used it. However, some of the other places don't have side doors and I just have the girl hold my arm and we waltz into the elevator and up to the room. Years ago I was shy about that and did the thing where she followed me some steps back. But realized how silly that was to do. I'd say SG is pretty open and wouldn't go through all the process of extra key cards, etc. Etc. Etc. Just my 2 cents.
Also, I want to remind the group that freebies can still be found at the tea parties in OT on sundays (noon-6pm) mostly filipinas, and I still love a stroll around lucky plaza anytime and make eye contact with the girls, one of my best was in 2008 when I met up with 2 filipinas making calls home, I smiled, they smiled, I walked up and introduced myself and said 'what are you doing this afternoon. I know they are business like, but if you treat them nice, they treat you nice as well. I brought them, and any girls I bring to hotel from OT, to 7-11 before going to hotel and tell them they can have ANYTHING they want since room mini bar is off limit and none ever asked for anything more than iced tea or bottled water (regular cheap ones) and I usually encourage them to get some chocolate too.

I did read your tea party story, hehehe. Sorry about that for you. My experience was a bit more sedate (until we got to the room and then. WOW).
As for LP, you are right, but, I may have hit it lucky, these girls were pretty and sweet and no holds barred (one told me she was an anal virgin and wanted to end that. So.). Do have to admit one thing. As many of you may agree, filipinas wear short-shorts better than any other girls I have seen. Well, these 2 came to my room for an overnight dressed in short shorts. And. I'm returning to Singapore shortly with the smile still on my face from my last visit 8 months ago. However this time I intend to be a little more adventurous and seek you advice. Last time I was staying in the Hyatt, went down to the Brix and selected a scrumptous little Vietnamese honey. I bargained her down to S$350 for LT and had a great night. GFE, very hot, great body and even enjoyed talking to her durng the recovery gaps. All very easy.
This time I'm thinking I'm due a trip to OT. Sounds like Ipanema is where I'll end up but has anyone been in OT in the last 2 months & can give an updated indication of how prices have settled down? Also latest bar info is always good.

Before Reaching Singapore I had Joined Laksa boy as recommended. First night at BRIX was not to my liking as I thought the girls were Overpriced and not willing to negotiate. I picked a pleasant and average Chinese girl for $200. I returned once more to BRIX but again gave up as the girls are after high rollers with expense accounts. Who the hell wants to drink Champagne in a pick up bar.
There was a Raid in Geylang on the front page so I stuck to Laksaboy incall joints. I sessioned 3 times and all three were above average experiences. The girls were polite co-operative and service oriented. For $150 it was great value.
If one likes the hunt and have deep pockets and put up with overmade up Asian girls with attitude then BRIX or IPENAMA[less so]are OK. I am service oriented and for my taste I liked incall places. By the way I love Termas, and Macau and mainland Saunas which are all service oriented. I am too old to put up with an attitude.

Expatraites ads for coming to your room was $250 and no assurance of quality as they were no pictures.

Glad you had fun Cruiseon and please don't take this post as me having a go about the price, as I am not up to date with current pricing. In fact what I am worried about, is that you paying S$350 for LT actually seems consistent with a few other reports of late.
But I am just wondering if some recent punters can give an update on pricing. I read the forum but not sure if the prices have seriously skyrocketed or maybe the odd posts that come through are from punters who are not that patient about negotiating.
I ask because I last was in Singapore in 2008. Now since then the world supposedly going through an economic downturn and I would have thought that may have slowed down the free spending business types and their mongering/travelling? On my trip then I was in Sing for a week and in OT I got LT nearly every night for S$200 and had quite a choice. Sometimes it took a little negotiation but not a lot,LT S$250 was very easy to get if I didn't feek like negotiating very long.
I will be in Singapore soon, do I have any hope for LT at say S$250? If the going rates are in the vicinity of ST $S250-300 AND LT $S350-400 then I think I give up!

It's a market, and pricing (or more accurately maximising revenue) is a P4P girl's profession. If you negotiate with an attractive girl, early in the evening you're going to have difficulty getting LT for S$200. With a stunner, almost no chance. Even if you do achieve this, the chance of an early bail out is high. Negotiate with a less attractive girl, or negotiate with the attractive one later in the evening, you always have a chance.
Others experience may be different to mine. I tend to visit OT late, after midnight and sometimes much later. I avoid times when demand or the chump factor is highest (Grand Prix, US Navy visits, big trade shows...). For quality of service reasons I tend to choose girls who are simply attractive, rather than the obvious stunners.
My standard offer for LT for many years has been S$150+tip. I never promise a specific amount for the tip but indicate that if I'm happy, it will be more than just taxi money. If everything is satisfactory I usually hand over S$200-S$250 although just once, for a truly exceptional Mongolian I've gone over S$300. Whenever I've wanted to I've been able to call the girl for a repeat at these rates, so I'm clearly paying at at a satisfactory level.
Pricing can go very low if it's late and the girl, rather than you, is the desperate one. I was offered 'LT' (at 3AM) for $S100 late last year by a decent looking Thai whose approach I had politely turned down earlier. She left early afternoon, very happy, with S$150.
I always pay after the event and never up front. If the girl doesn't accept this, no deal.
Looking for value some things count in my favour, I'm familiar with the city and won't seem like a greenhorn to the girl. I usually don't care if I go home alone. Maybe word gets around that I'll 'see the girl right', or perhaps I'm good at choosing my targets. For whatever reason, with patience, humour and a little respect for the girl my offers usually succeed. Sometimes (and I don't advise this for an OT newbie) I haven't negotiated up front at all.
As Ozzie Trader implies in his post, the key is patience, never appearing desperate and acting at least a little like you know the ropes, which you do, even if you never set foot in OT, by reading this forum.

Having used sgadsonline, I'd say it's not for everyone but useful, especially to those who know the city well and who enjoy the hunt. Like all similar sites there's a lot of crap, but one or two good leads can make it worthwhile.
Just as in the peak days of Geylang street girls, communication can be difficult with 'fresh off the boat' PRC Chinese. They understandably find it easier to deal with Singapore or Malay Chinese mongers who speak the language and know the ropes of the Singapore domestic P4P trade.
Some do have basic English, if you are patient. If you have even basic Mandarin it helps a lot. If you can get over the communication barrier there are gems to be found.
Malay, Thai and local girls should have no problem in communicating.
In general I've had good experience with free classifieds sites where I know enough of the scene to weed out the crap. Gumtree casual dating (UK) was 99.9% crap but the genuine ads were easy to identify and I was well satisfied with the provider I located.

Good points about the "bail out" aswell, I agree when going for LT it is absolutely essential to not pay until the morning. Better also to make sure the girl is ok with this before you reach the hotel to avoid any drama.
