The following is not intended as a diary, but rather a description of events that perhaps some of our Senior Members can comment-on to help future travelers “communicate” with their Korean hosts, and failing-that, provide instructions on how to set-out on your own.

I just returned from my first business trip to Korea. My plan was to visit “Green Street” in Pusan (SargeRock post), and “Club Shalotte” in Seoul (SeoulSurvivor Post). Unfortunately, I did not make the travel arrangements and we wound-up staying in Gyeongju rather than Pusan, and in New Seoul rather than Old Seoul… and for newcomers, Seoul traffic is worse than Manhattan so a taxis from New Seoul to Old Seoul could take 20-40 minutes, depending upon the time of day.

In Gyeongju, we were with our Korean hosts most of the time and did not have an opportunity to find any “action” on our own. We hinted to our host that we would welcome some “Korean entertainment”… so they took us to traditional tourists sites (Beaknyulsa Temple and Tomuti Park, etc… no pussy). There was a karaoke club in the hotel, but the Korean doorman advised that it was “very expensive”. I believe he was telling us that the girls did not speak English… so if we did not speak Korean, forget it… we did.

In Seoul we again questioned our Korean hosts regarding “Korean Barber Shops”, for example why do some barbershops have 2-barber poles vs. 1-barber pole (as explained on a recent post). They said it was just additional advertising and had no special meaning. They acknowledged that some barbershops have “entertainment”, but they did not know which ones. They also acknowledged that some Karaoke clubs had “entertainment”, where you could pay a girl to “sit-with-you”… but, I didn’t want a girl to sit-with-me; I wanted a girl to “sit-on-my-face” (still a communication problem). We again hinted that we would welcome some traditional Korean entertainment with women… so they took us to the Sheraton Hotel, which has a Las Vegas type show with bare-breasted women. Great show… but again, no pussy. Accordingly, we (two Americans) setout on our own… without a Korean host and without any knowledge of the Korean language.

We asked the hotel doorman where we could find some “entertainment”, and he sent us to the Hard Rock Café (I assumed that the Seoul Hard Rock would be similar to the Shanghai Hard Rock). However, if there was “action” at the Korean Hard Rock, we didn’t see it… but as we were leaving, we noticed a 2-pole barbershop across the street that was still open at mid-night. Our instincts told us that this was our best shot.

Upon entering the establishment, we instantly realized that this was “da-place”. No English on their-side and no Korean on our-side, but we managed to strike a deal… we weren’t quite sure what we purchased, but assumed the price (90,000 won) included pussy. Previous posts stated that 60,000 won was the going-rate, but since this was our last night and Korea and it was late, we accepted the price. There were two girls, a “9” and a “7”… unfortunately, it was my turn to play “wing-man” so I wound-up with the “7”, but as I learned later, she made-up for it in other ways. We had no idea what the barbershop routine was, so I’ll include the following for the benefit for future travelers.

First I was taken to a room with only pull-curtains where I placed my clothes in a locked locker and put on a pair of terry cloth shorts. Then, I was placed in a barber chair where the masseuse washed my feet and massaged my arms… still not sure if I’m going to get any pussy. Next she took me to another room where the masseuse and I both dis-robed… things are looking-up, but still not sure if I’m getting a HJ, BJ or what. Excellent report, BenDover! First off, Manhattan traffic is not that bad! I can name at least five US cities with much worse traffic (LA, Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Miami, Phoenix…to name a few). You are right that Seoul traffic is absolutely atrocious.

I never tried barber shops when I was in Korea, so I can’t comment on them, but I can comment on your Korean hosts’ “feigned amnesia” when it comes to paid sex locales. Every Korean guy I know is intimately familiar with the sex trade; they brag about it. BUT a lot of Korean guys don’t like sharing their “goods” with Westerners. I’d assume it’s a lot worse now with increased anti-American sentiment. I experienced the “run-around” when I was there too, and this was from supposed “friends”.

However, when you do have an honest Korean host, the world, as they say, “is your oyster”. Some will go out of their way to make sure you *ahem* enjoy yourself. But sadly, these guys number in few.

You’re still lucky to have gotten some action where you did and I don’t think 90,000won is as bad these days as people make it out to be, though it’s always good to haggle for less.

They probably were to embarrassed to talk about these things to strangers.

While it may be true that this guy's hosts were a bit embarrassed about these topics around the likes of “strangers”, a lot of Korean men I consider “friends” go out of their way to dissuade me from going after Korean women. I know I’m not the only “foreigner” with this experience.

Furthermore, a lot of Koreans I talk to boast about how they like to treat their business guests to “pleasure” and a “good time”. It’s a big thing and part of Korean business culture; why would so many of these places be charging the prices they do if this was not the case? A good friend of mine (a genuinely nice Korean guy) tells me “treating” your business colleagues is nothing out of the ordinary...even if they’re “strangers”. Sadly, I was never on the receiving end of such hospitality, at least on my business ventures, but I wouldn’t doubt that it exists. Maybe it depends on who you are?

As a native Korean, I feel I have to comment something on your report, though.

You might have some 'communication problem' with your clients. The word 'entertainment' means, to usual Koreans, just 'entertainment thru music, dance, etc'.

We have learnt, for all of our school days, that WESTERNERS DON'T LIKE TO HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS ON THE BASIS OF MONEY. Now, I know it's not true, but still many Koreans believe so.

Furthermore, and frankly, room salon will cost lots and lots of money, so you need to make them (your Korean counterparts) convinced in their getting the benefits when they spend lots of money for you.

Anyway, your venture to a barborshop was a great one, I have to say.

Bendover, what you have experienced is pretty typical experience at barbershops from my own experience and what I have heard here. My first ever experience at one barbershop for KW60,000 was just handjob but she asked me if I wanted oral. Camp Towns: Not appropriate to the seoul section, but there have been previous posts about them here. Was speaking to a club owner beside CP Howze (highway 1, just south of bongilchun, about a dozen clubs) who reported that bringing Russians and Filipinas into korea is now more difficult, and moving them along the CP Casey/CP Hovey, CP Red Cloud, CP Howze, Songtan (Osan AB), CP Humphreys circuit is almost impossible. Clubs depend on this circuit to keep rotating "new" girls in and keep customer interest, but now the clubs can no longer do so. A girl staying at a club for a long while develops a relationship with a soldier, he provides financial support, she doesn't go with any more customers, and the business dies. Enjoy seeing the advantage to the girl rather than the old hag behind the bar, but I am a customer with slimmer pickings now :-( And yes, I am a hypocrite ;-)

Not in official national curriculum, of course, but this is exactly I was taught from my childhood.

My teachers told me that 'There's no 'under-the-table-money' in western, advanced countries'. I don't know how we find the English word 'under-the-table-money', though.

When I got a job, my seniors told me 'By offering sexual service, westerners could change the deal terms not in a single dollar'.

Anyway, this is what exactly I was told and taught.

Sounds like your teachers weren't too knowledgeable; naive at best. Strange that they garner so much respect. Your business mentors got it spot on.

Words to describe under-the-table money: bribe, kickback, influence peddling. The word rebate is incorrectly used by koreans to describe a kickback. These are what put korea's past presidents, their family members, and business leaders in the clink.

Well documented that previous korean governments (park & chun) supported the sex tourism business aimed at bringing in the Japanese. Needed that hard currency, you know. Probably didn't have a hard time pitching it to Japanese tour operators. But korean invented, owned and managed it was...and is. (BTW, ever wonder if park, when he was a Japanese military officer, visited any of the "comfort wormen"?)

Thank you very, very much for your response(s) to my post... I really appreciate your input, it is very helpful. However, I need to clarify some of my remarks (I'm still not communicating clearly... I apologize for that). First, I did not expect (or want) my Korean hosts to provide expensive sexual "entainment"... I just wanted them to discretely point-me in the right direction so I could obtain my own "entainment" in private (we Westerners are also too embarrased to ask for this information directly from a business associate).

I was hoping my hosts would take my hint and respond with... "If you want a hair cut, don't go to the barber shop across the street from your hotel, because it is a AMP that specializes in SEX"... or if you want a hair cut... And, if you think about it, having absolutely nothing to do with under-the-table money, which was evidently a topic of such great interest to korea's teachers during Daniel_You's school days that it left its mark.

Had Daniel_You's first post stated "You gotta pay to play" or "Don't be a sponge" it would have better provided his reasoning for why some of the korean businessmen acted the way they did. The in-my-school-days line was a load of tripe.

Perhaps a suggestion to western businessmen to use their spending account $$$ and take their korean counterparts out will open the doors. "I've got the dough, but I don't know where to go." I know it works and you'll be tongue deep in women.

If you aren't keen to party with your counterparts, and you don't speak korean, you've severely limited your options. Doing things on your own is more a western behavior than korean. Anything involving alcohol such as hostess club, a noraebang or even 588 tends to be a group activity. Even going to a massage palour/bathhouse/turkey tang/sports massage can be a group activity. Then you'll have a male gochu chingu (penis friend), which sounds really gay, but isn't.

There are low-end bars where a lone korean male may go to drink with an older, 30+, woman. Look for small bars w/ no windows, typically on side streets, and that have signs on which is written yangju (whiskey) and maekju (beer)--both in hangul. The establishment, the women, and the customers tend to be a bit rough. Again, not knowing korean may make for an awkward time.

If you're not an adventuresome, type A personality then offer to treat your counterparts. They'll know where to go.

I do not profess to be an expert about Korean barbershops, but I sure would like to learn more about the pleasures of them. Things have changed a lot the 14 years I’ve been in Seoul.

The sure giveaway for a barbershop with extra services was one that was in the basement. Didn’t need two poles or other fancy advertising. I have never been disappointed with a basement barbershop – except one when I went in really for a haircut. A young but plump girl assisted the barber. After he was finished, I was sure she would work me over, so to speak. Never happened. Everyone wants to get a young girl. This is all relative to one’s age. I’m 51, so young to me is anything 35 and below. The average age of barbershop women went up right after the 1997 economy crash. There were many reports of housewives going to work in barbershops. The places were being busted because they had “too many” condoms.

Did have a nice young one before 1997 when the exchange rate of 800 won to the dollar. Stopped in a basement shop by Pagoda Park in Chongno. Was strange because it was the first time – and only time -- the barber quoted the price up front: 80,000 won. He left and a thin young thing proceeded to work me over in the chair. This lasted about 10 minutes when she motioned for me to follow. Note: I can speak very little Korean, and it has not been a great hindrance. I’ve seen many barbershops where there is not a barber around. And, many of the barbershops have taken the chairs out and just put in mattresses. Dear Casper,

Prices for a "haircut" have remained steady the past few years. To me, the average price seems to be around 60,000 won, depending of the grade of service. Once I asked the price, and was told 50,000 for HJ. I usually give 70,000 if a BJ is included. The most I have been quoted is 100,000, and that was full service, but have had FS for less.

However, for 60,000 won you can get FS at one of the RLD districts. Depends on what you are willing to spend and your disposable cash. I've heard that barbershops are more expensive in the Kangnam (south of the Han River) area. Prices also vary outside of Seoul.

My experience is that Pusan is more expensive as far as barbershops go. Remember: supply and demand. There are barbershops offering extra services all over Seoul.

Reading the Pusan pages (Medic & Analkiss) they mentioned Tabang (coffee shops) being a good source of entertainment, are there any of these shops in Seoul? This weekend I'm tied up, but next weekend I intend to have a blast, starting Friday night and if I can keep it up, finish Sunday morning, going to try a bit of everything. Will report back later in week.

New World hotel is a mid class business hotel although I have never stayed there. It is about the same as Samjung Hotel one mile to the west. New World is in the middle of the Kangnam action. Out the front door, turn right and walk down the hill and there is good drinking place near the sports club but expensive. Turn left out of New World and for the next mile, endless drinking places. Helps to have Korean guide.

Also, you can find a very famous room-salon (named 'Gallery') on the 2nd and 3rd fl. of that hotel, while on the basement level, there also is a room-salon (named 'mania').

But still those two are very expensive.

Those kind of coffee shops are seldom found in Seoul area these days, but still you could be there in a remote town, especially in a small port town.

There, in coffee shop with that kind of service, girls are emplyed by the hours, and when you wish to enjoy with them, you should 'buy' girl's time. They call it 'to buy ticket(s)' and additionally you have to pay for the service the girls offers.

Dear Nico,

If you were at the electronics market, you were not far from the Yongsan RLD. (Surprised you couldn’t smell it.) The Yongsan post office is just across the street from Yongsan’s glass houses.

Best direction to Yongsan’s glass houses is to take subway line 4 to Shinyongsan station. It is one the west side of the main road, across from the Hanil Building (the big silver building) The north exits from the subway take you to the electronics market. Go to the south portals and walk south to the intersection. Turn right, go about 50 meters, and you see the road that drives by all the glass houses and A girls. On both sides of the drivethru and the main street are about 100 places.

588, or Chongyonggi, is at the east end of the subway line 1 in Tongdaemun area. Take one of the south exits from the subway and go about 200 meters southwest. You will see the glass houses.

Miari is on the number 4 line at Girum station in north Seoul. Take exit number 10 from the station, and just venture into the little side alleys.

An arsonist set a carriage of the train on fire, which spread quickly to the entire train and onto a second subway train that was arriving from the opposite direction. The subway fire in Daegu that left at least 125 people dead. The arson used a container filled with flammable liquid and threw it into the subway car.

Experts also noted that the interiors of the subway cars did not have fire-resistant materials, which caused many to die from the inhalation of toxic gases and smoke.

it's great to be back in my native country after 18 yrs. although i did visit seoul maybe 3 times during that span but then i was too young to know anything. i'm in my mid twenties and having heard so much about the rlds in seoul from my korean friends i was in many ways eager to get back. i've just arrived today for some social business and will be around for a few months. my korean is conversational and thus i figure i shouldn't have a hard time making small talk with the ladies.
problem is, apart from this site i have been unable to find any other sites regarding the rlds in seoul. i do vaguely know the roads but even so i'm still confused to which place would be the best for me to visit.

Was at Yongsan a few days ago and didn't see any Russians, but I don't look for Russians either ;-) If I had, I know it would have certainly caught my attention. Reckon that the Russians are seen as too valuable to be working in a "down-market" place.

About six months ago I saw Russian girls in Seoul at an expensive room salon that caters to koreans. Previous posts have thoroughly explained room salons, costs, willingness to accept lone non-korean customers, etc. Have seen a few Russians at foreigner-oriented dance clubs in itaewon such as Grand Ole Opry--about 2/3rds of the way up the hill--and Stompers. (Stompers itaewon is now closed as Mr. Lee has devoted his efforts to his hong dae location.) I have not been to the King Club in years, but it may be worth a look if you're in the neighborhood. There is also a club behind the itaewon fire station and next to Club Flexx. I'm not positive of the name (Moscow Nights, perhaps?), but the neon sign is Cyrillic. A lot of Russian girls going in and out of the place, and the clientele is typically korean. Though Club Flexx caters to the Africans, I have seen Russians there. I have not found any Russians at the hostess bars on the hill or at the more upscale hostess clubs on the main itaewon strip.

If you're looking for the GFE there are a lot of Russian students in living in shinchon. Prowling area will be the bars in hong dae. More than likely to run into Canadian English teachers.

Outside seoul, TDC and songtan seem to be the best bet for Russians. Both are about 90 minutes from Seoul if traffic is moving. I recall you're familiar with the attractions at TDC and tokori. There are also Russians at CP Howze, but the bars are not as short-time friendly as TDC and tokori. Side note: Was in Taegu and found a Spanish girl working at Mama Lee's. Certainly doesn't have the looks to warrant a special trip, but certainly an oddity, especially since she was about 20-years younger than the old dragons there. The foreigner-oriented club scene in Taegu is dead.

Miari is located off of line number 4. The stop is Gireum number 417. Once your off the subway navigate to the subway entrance number 5 or 10. I not exactly sure which one. So far I've checked out the three infamous RLDs(miari, 588 and yongsan). Miari wasn't to my taste, 588 had some great looking ladies on the main road, many were crazily vocal in getting my attention. Seeing a few posts about barbershops in Kangnam. First off, Kangnam is a huge geographical area so more specifics would be necessary (landmarks, subway lines, etc). Second, and more importantly, there are so many good shops around for what you're looking for.

My recommendation for FS barbershop (posted before but here it is again)

Go to Yeoksam St. and exit towards the Rodamco Tower. There is a Starbucks on the first floor. FS Barber shop in Kangnam near Apkujung, Hyundai Dept store: I have been to this place three times and guaranteed full service for 90,000. Across from the Hyundai Dept store on the left side, there is a hotel called Hotel PopGreen. On this block, facing the entrance to the hotel, there is a car dealership (Daewoo I think) on the same block to the right. Running parallel to this dealership, if you look straight down the street, there is only one barber pole on the left side. I would say it is about 150 yards from the corner where the dealership is situated. If I recall the lady's name correctly, ask for Ms. Yim, if she is there. Try the two roughest places on the hill, Cabin and Indian Joes. Both are on the same street as the King Club and across the road from Starbutts. Indian Joes is roomier and has privacy. Ask to use the bedroom hidden behind the curtain at the entrance. The cubicles just have vinyl-upholstered couches that aren't too comfortable. Kangnam is an area south of the Han River and a subway station also. My advice either take a cab and tell the driver Dynasty Hotel in Kang Nam or take the subway get off at Kangnam and then take a Taxi.

Bad news first:

This is a first time post from a long time resident of Seoul.

I've been all over Asia, and of course the Phillipines is the best. But in Seoul, for my money, Hooker Hill in Itaewon is the best. Suwon looks promising--new train station, go out the main exit and down the stairs. Walk to the left about 50-100 meters, you'll see some stairs that goes down to a small shopping arcade. Go down and under the street and come up on the other side; its a type of traffic circle right there. If you take a left up one any one of those streets, its not hard to find; keep walking towards the old bus terminal. I visited the Chon Ho RLD last sunday, just before it got dark. After wandering around (this was my second attempt at finding the place) I noticed one narrow covered alley that was very dark. Stand in front of the entrance. You will see two small alleys in front of you. Go to the alley on the right. Walk about 30M (I'm not sure how long it is in feet) and turn right. Then on your left, you will see two barbershop poles (one on each side) There will be a glass door. There is a board on top of the door and it reads like this --> ÇÎÅ¬. This happened with the three biggest clubs in Songtan; the Young-chon, Zone, and Golden Gate were all off-limits for about three-four weeks. Recently they were all back in business...
perhaps ex-pats will fare better--as you dont have to abide by the curfew nor fall under "SOFA" status.....

2. "Runners". This practice was actually started by the Koreans in Songtan about 4-5 years ago. In Korea itself, the practice is known as "ticket-bee" or "shigan-bee"; "bee" means fare or fee, "shigan" means time. Mostly practiced by the old coffee-shops or "tabangs", basically you are paying the girl's salary for an hour, or whatever amount of time you agreed on. It does not imply sex. So this practice spread to the clubs; eventually charging customers 140,000-180,000 won to take one of the girls out for an hour (probably more now). Then the girls usually made you take em' to a restaurant or another club, go dancing, whatever. When you ducked into the men's room, that's usually when they' d split the scene on you....

So, yeah, if you're gonna try this, negotiate with the girl while you're buying her drinks, make sure she knows what u want and agrees to it all, especially the price. I don't know about $200 anymore. Some of the girls have broached the subject with me first; they'd start at about $250, come down to $200, getting cheaper, etc, as the evening grew later, so I guess its still possible. Try it on a slow weeknight in between paydays (1st and 15th) when business is slower. There's many more Russians in Songtan now than Filipinas--I'd say close to 2:1 ratio, and Korean girls are virtually impossible to find anymore--there's but a handful of em left around. The Stereo Club still has many Filipinas, also the Phoenix (its a real dump, though) and the Playboy Club has some nice ones too. Good luck.

As a newbie here, let me describe my experiences in Korea.

I'm a young guy way below 30 so I prefer woman that are in the age range of 18-25. So in Korea, I don't go to barber shops or bath-houses because most likely they are older.

Since I'm new, my background is I'm Korean-American and can speak enough Korean to get by but my accent is barely acceptable, most people can tell after talking to me for a couple of minutes in Korean that I'm not a native speaker.

The first thing if anybody has any comments is condom use in Korea. Shit..... I've been enjoying our little hobby for awhile and I hate the fact that in Korea, the girls don't want you to use a condom. Always freaks me out because they just want to bareback it. Miari - I started to travel to Korea only 4 years ago for work and this was the first time I went to a RLD. (tear) All the things I've been missing living in the good'ol USA. I had some mamasan pick me up after I got out of the cab and she took me to a back room not on the main alleys and the girls look frigin ugly and fat. No wonder they need someone to go get them guys, for the most part walk the alleys don't go with mamasan. The standard procedure in Miari seems to be you go in, can't really pick the girl in the beginning, you go into a small room with beer, anju, and a karaoke. The girl comes in, I assume you can ask for another if you don't like what you see. Anyway, she sits next to you, you can shoot the shit if you want with her, I don't think this time goes into your "fun" time. I came alone the times I came here so maybe if you go with a bunch of friends you sit there sorta room salon style and sing a couple of songs before.
When it's time for the fun, you just go into a small room the size of a full size bed at most, that fits a twin size mat. She leaves to wash up, you undress waiting. (On a side note, I'm kinda weary of this because you can catch an STD from moist towels, especially if they are reusing them for a couple of guys. My friends and I spent 4 hours almost going all the way to North Korea trying to figure out how to find this place.

If someone familar with the area knows: What is the other RLD called that is next to YJG. YJG is the one by where the water runs through it with a small overpass bridge. What is the other place called that is about 10 minutes away. Entering the town from the South you can take a right to go to YJG but if you go another way there is another RLD. At first I thought this was YJG but speaking with some of the girls working there, it was not. This place YJG#2 had girls that were just a good looking but they also had schoolgirl fetish house. 2 places had girls that were dressed in the typical slutty schoolgirl outfits. The ones I saw were average at best but maybe the got some hotties, if that is your thing.

Back to YJG, this place has got to be the best in terms of quality of girls, maybe the good looking ones come here because they can still make the money but less chance of family finding out since this place is so far from Seoul. Besides the quality of girls, what sets YJG apart from the rest is the service you recieve. This place is GFE heaven. I don't think there are that many shops in Yong Joo Gol that accept foreigners, just like 588. The ones who do accept foreigners are usually quite mediocre / nasty. Even for non-Korean Asians, it's sometimes very hard -- the girls are still quite scared of SARs and will reject you flat if you're Chinese. They do accept Japanese guys though.

I'm half-Chinese/White and have had a really tough time as I look a bit more white than Chinese, even though I can speak Korean somewhat okay, when they look at my ID and see that I have a Chinese name (my father is Chinese) some have rejected me flat out.

I will agree with what was written here and say that Itaewon or Miari is your best bet if you're a foreigner. Don't waste your time on those other places because you'll most likely have to come all the way to some far-out place just to settle for some nasty chick.

Never even heard of Yon Ju Gol before...How far from Seoul would you estimate it to be? How long time with a car or train/taxi?

I don't live in Korea but I'm there once a month for a couple days depending on the work schedule.

To answer more questions: YJG is far from Seoul, even from the closest subway station from YJG is still maybe 1-1.5 hours from there, depending how fast the driver is. It's very booney to get there. You past through a lot of countrysides and you go over mountains. If it's your first time trying to find it, it won't be easy or you will pay big bucks to the taxi driver because most won't want to go there because they have to drive back. Usually, they will ask for an extra 10K to take you there because it leaves Seoul by a good distance. For a foreigner to take that journey, it takes balls, kinda scary even for myself cause you go through so much empty land far from familiar Seoul.

You could get killed and they'll never find you there...haha...But on a serious note, one reason why albiet small chance on why it might be dangerous for foreigners to go there might be because there is a korean army base near there, obviously because it's up north, close to NK. They do get rowdy and I did see some uniformed guys walking around YJG, they might not like a foreigner "doing" the korean girls. Like people mentioned before, some Koreans will give nasty looks or say something when they see inter-racial couples, now that's in Seoul, imagine 20 year old Army drunk guys in the middle of nowhere Korea and you got nobody to help you. You walk down the alley of YJG and run into them by yourself, may not be the happy time you were after. Just a YMMV so you know what goes on.

I know how to drive there now like I said, so I feel more comfortable. Next time I go, I'll follow along on a map and try to map that place out. Last time I was trying to map it out but you know how the maps in Korea just plain suck, so I couldn't figure it out. I'll try buying a better map somewhere. I know how to get there by the land marks mostly and turns. There's no signs that say "Adult Disneyland" :) next 20 km.

About your post: First of all, there is a reason many Korean women don't like to put on condoms--it implies they are a *****/prostitute/chong-nyo. We are not that far removed from a society that experienced sex only on the first day of marriage, and sex was for having children, not pleasure.

I would hope that Korean prostitutes don't think that Korean males don't have diseases, since more than half of Korean men visit *****s while drunk, and don't use a condom, a dangerous combination (this was in the Korea Herald, so take that for what it's worth).

Second of all, communicable disease are rampant in Korea. I have heard estimates of up to 25% of people have Hepatitis (due to food sharing). I have also heard that many women have "minor" STDs like chlmydia and gonnorea (sp?) (%20-30%). But, they don't know it because women do not have symptoms (only men do).

Also, the Korean hospitals in some cases are still way behind as far as treating these diseases because the doctors also have this idea that Korean women could NEVER have STDs, so, after a women is treated, she thinks she is cured,w hen in fact she is not.

As far as white guys being served, well that has been the norm for a while, but I have never really had that problem (too much).

I would like to comment on some other aspects of your post, but seriously doubt "Jackson" would post it, as he has on occasion refused to post my messages regarding the hypocrisy and politics of sex in Korea.

So, I will leave it at that.

After discussing with trusted Korean friends more and more and asking the girls firsthand (plus having my Korean friends ask on my behalf about this) at Yong Joo Gol, I have came to the conclusion that Yong Joo Gol is the most "anti-foreigner" of all the RLDs. If there are, for example, about 100 shops in YJG, I speculate that only less than 3 or 4 will serve foreigners (other than Japanese), and even at that, only the fat/ugly ones will come to you. (needless to say, the ones who may accept you are on the isolated alleyways)

If you were lucky enough to get a 'hit' at a place as anti-foreigner as 588 or Yongsan, good luck trying to find any lovin in YJG, because they are even more "anti-foreigner"..it came to the point where the YJG girls pretty much find it "taboo" to be with a foreigner and they are also worried about what the other girls / customers / pimps / managers might say if they took one in. It's as if all the girls consider it "low class" to be with a foreigner. It doesn't matter how good you look, they will reject you.

For one thing, the shops are all out in the open, with a lot of girls and their managers / pimps watching you all the time. The girls are all in groups of their shops and as you walk by and they will shout and scream for you if you're Korean / look Korean, but if you look even remotely foreigner, they will all stare and keep quiet, ignore you, etc. and then, the pimps stare at you, as they all hang out in front of their parked cars watching to make sure things are ok.

Like what Moolman said, there are indeed Korean soldiers wandering around the streets, as well as certain groups of rowdy drunk Korean men, especially during the late evenings. YJG is not exactly a friendly atmosphere if you're a foreigner wanting to find some excitement in this vast quiet outskirts of land. If you're Korean though, this place is heaven. Not worth the trip out to YJG for foreigners in my opinion.
