I'm learning that Sunday is not the best day to be out relaxing. But, things are not a complete loss.

Tried my luck at a Korean Club in Gangnam last night with no luck. For those who have neveer been to one, you basically pay a lot of money for a high priced bottle of scotch, and with a tip to the waiter, he will bring you non-professional women in the bar to come sit and have a drink with you. What you do from there is up to you and her, if you hit it off. Westerners are welcome guests at 'ko shi won'(s), and they are everywhere in Seoul. These one-room, community-bathroom residentials have traditionally been used by salarymen and students studying for exams (particularly law school exams). The cost for a 'ko shi won' is anywhere from 150,000-300,000won/month (YMMV). Finding a 'ko shi won' can be tricky if you don't read Korean. Ask a Korean/bi-lingual friend for help.
Another option is a 'livingtel.' There is a chain of these livingtels called 'Cocolivingtel' (a franchise) in Seoul, and you can find information on the internet at any search engine. The livingtels are a step up from a 'ko shi won.' Most are new. They offer a small room about 7' x 10'. Believe it or not (for the tight space), there is a small bathroom (shower and toilet) which makes up the last three feet of the 10'. There is a bed, a TV with cable, a frig, a closet for clothes, a desk, and shelves; it's airconditioned and has free laundry service. Another great advantage above ko shi wons is that the livingtels have a kitchen which provides (24/7) rice, ramien, kim chi, and eggs. With a little innovation, a person certainly wouldn't starve. The cost for the livingtels is about 550,000won/month (no deposit, no key money) for a room with a bathroom and about 300,000won/month for a room without a bathroom (in which case you must use the community bathroom...again YMMV). I checked out two separate livingtels before posting just to have the wherewithall to say firsthand that they are small rooms, but the are very nice places to stay if you are looking for a reasonable long term stay alternative (works out to about 18,000won/day for a month-to-month stay). The individual room's door locks and the outside door is locked (with coded entry) after around 12am. Of course, I do not know about bringing girls back to the room, but I don't see why it would be a problem.

IMHO everything about In & Out has deteriorated. In the past, there were girls who would give quite a bit up: Jeong-ah and Cherry were always good for some DATY, at the very least. Walked to the nearest one and had the scrip filled nless than five minutes. Total cost: W130,000. Consult fee was W50,000 and pills were W80,000 for five. Total time invested, about 1 hour. Includes consult and walking time.
After last night, can honestly say it's the smartest thing I've done in the last two years. If you've never tried ths stuff, you wont believe it.
So if you're serious about it, quit wasting time with the pharmacies and spend the nominal amount of money to go legit.
There are several clinics in the Times. Several offer the "anti aging" deal. I picked International because it's located in Itaewon. On the 5th floor of the big green building next to the Itaewon Hotel.
The best part is no one asked for any type of ID the whole time. You will fill out some paperwork to get in the clinic's system, but you can put any name or adress information you want. The nurses will ask about Korean Health Insurance or some type of card. I just told them no, was a cash customer and it was no problem.

Actually monthly tests are not a bad idea at all, because most HIV infections show up within 30 days from infection with today's regular tests (combine it with a DNA-HIV test and you can spot it basically from day one).
Wrapping it up when using the services of a SW - tested or not -is a good idea anywhere on the planet, though.
If you are in the health system, I believe the discount is 70%.
Been to Mirari RLD, some of these ladies (?) insist not using any protection, but if you insist they will follow your request. I think they believe that you would finish quicker without it.
Secondary thought would be as for herpes, it could spread with or without protection. Not a good reason for not capping yourself but you could be playing Korean roulette?
If you do some reading, due to the rampid usage or misusage of anti-biotics typical Gono and Syphillis and mutated to "super" status that will not be cured by previously known to be effective anti-biotics. I think the laws changed now that you can't purchase any prescription without Dr's permission in Korea.

Figured I'd add what little I know about Korea during my first visit.

I have been intrigued by all the talk about the RLD at Yongsan, so I decided to go take a look. For those of us who have been to the newly remodeled Yongsan Station and have a basis of comparison to the station before, the difference is amazing.
Anyway, look for the sign for the Electronic Market, and go out the opposite way. I took the escalator down to the courtyard. When step out onto the courtyard, look up to the skyline and to your right. You will see a building called Dacom (big red C in the middle of the name). Use this building as a reference marker for walking direction (you won't be going to that building). Walk toward the building until you come to the road sign for Baek bin gil. This is the road sign at a crosswalk; go across the road, and take a right. The Dacom building will go out of sight for a moment. The sidewalk veers left, and when you take the corner, Dacom will come into view again. Now, forget about Dacom, and walk straight ahead. Very shortly, you will see the start of the "A" row.

Follow that walkway until it ends at stairs, take the stairs to the next tier. Go through the parking garage (straight ahead). On the other side of the garage is where you want to be. Look for a building (across the street and to the right) that sits diagonally on its foundation. This diagonally positioned building is where the locals go to buy electronics. I didn't see another westerner the entire time I was in there. You can get better deals there. On the way to the crosswalk to get to that building, check out the many shops (including one underground market).
Barbershop scene has changed a lot here in Kangnam. It used to be massage and strocking, but they all started to have hidden shower facilities where the girls wash you off and do everything you dreamed of from an Asian girl. Sort of like soapies in Japan.

Thanks for the post. I agree that early stage HIV-DNA test can catch the viral load even before it shows up in an HIV antibody test. The most dangerous period of HIV infection is from a person before three months from infection. I read that the probability of infection changes from 1/1000 in the antibody existing stage to as high as 1/5 in the early and acute HIV infection phase. The highest risk is after 20 days from infection. That scares of you know what out of me.
I wonder though what are the chances that the "health police" tests using the HIV-DNA test. The test is still very expensive even in the West so most tests are still the "ooppss...too late 3 months later antibody test."
If anyone has information about the type of blood tests that Miari, etc., girls get, I would be interested in hearing.

The HIV-DNA test is to the best of my knowledge not being used for any kind of mass screening, with the exception of the Californian adult movie (if that qualifies as a "mass screening")
It is not cheap, but still affordable and may be the best buy you make. Have no idea about the price in the west, but Bumrungrad charged 2000 Baht (or possibly 2500). With a neg standard test (such as Elisa) plus a neg DNA-HIV, I think it's pretty fair to say you are on the safe side, HIV-wise at least.
Hep C is of course, another matter, another test.

Regarding YJG (Yong-ju-gol), the last time I took a cab it cost 37,000 won I believe. I remember just giving the guy 40,000 won though. Approximately $35.
On the ride back though, I remember the taxi driver (who happened to be a chick) was lost, and I ended up paying 50,000 won (about $43).
Total, roundtrip was 90,000 won, or about $80.
The cabs that you get in YJG however, are not Seoul cabs, so you may find a few people trying to charge you more when you try to get back home. So, I think it's a good idea that when you decide to take a cab to YJG, you tell the driver you want him to take you there, and take you back when you're done. You guys can work something out.
One driver told me of an incident where he took 3 or 4 Japanese guys there, and they had arranged so that he would take them back to Seoul afterwards. Well, Japanese have more money than the average Korean, and they ended up paying for the driver's "good time" as well.
Or, if you have a Korean friend, perhaps you can get him to drive you there and pay him for gas and a little more (assuming he's going there anyway).

It would cost you about 40,000 or over because it is really far away. It will take about one and a half hours to get htere from the Central Seoul and I think you should negotiate the taxi fare because as it is out of Seoul you need to pay extra money as Koreans do.

My memory is pretty bad, and I'm not saying I actually went to 588 ;o), but my guess is that you went to the wrong cheongnyangni station (there another one I believe on the more southern route of the same line) or you went out the wrong subway exit accidentally. One of the exits goes right to Lotte, and there is one of those neighborhood maps, same as at all the other subways stations with it clearly shown.
If I remember correctly, there's a parking garage with nicely dressed parking attendants near Lotte. 558 is just beyond it and you can see the banners above the streets. There are probably many other ways to get there too. It's kind of hard to miss because of the banners.

Koreans operate based upon cultural norms and behavioral variances across Koreans is minimal, hence Koreans believe that behavioral variances across foreigners are also minimal.

Some of you may remember several days ago I mentioned a barbershop in the Chungmuro area.

(7) - BLUE Take Number 300 bus and get off at NOSTALGIA HOTEL. Look for CONTINENTAL HOTEL NIGHT CLUB. Across from there you can see a side street with BLUE sited on Level 2 above a restaurant. I had to ask at least 6 people how to find it!

I find leaving a good tip pays off huge dividends, u will get much better service in return visits and I have on occasion gotten a full day of free GFE when they take a break from working --they all usually end up taking time off at some point. RM, the girls that work in places like In & Out and the other places that Ho Man and others described, are almost certainly in the safest envronments of all, in this business. Most places, they don't even get nude, let alone risk diseases (probably the worst they would risk would be a bad cold from a client suffering similarly). Do you speak any Korean? If not, then you can try just about any bar in Itaewon. You need to dress well but not over the top. Wear a nice pair of slacks, shirt and shoes. Arrive early ~9-10pm on a week day, or late after the 1pm curfew for the military (is this still in effect?). The usual hunting rules apply.
A number of people have said the Limelight is a good place to hook-up. I've never been since I prefer more of a bar like environment where you can talk.
If you're in your 20's or early 30's you could also try Hong Dae, there are a number of night clubs there that are frequented by students. Korean helps here, but if you're decent looking you may do OK.

I also prefer the freebie action, In my experience I have had more success in Hong Dae (university district about 30 minute cab ride from the Hyatt), than Iteawon or JJ Mahoneys (Hyatt Bar). Beware of Coyote Ugly in Itaewon. They will change the price on your CC Receipt that is sent to the bank. They tried to take me for about $2,000. I had the receipt and the made a complaint to the bank and it fixed.
You may think it is fine to use CC for a few hundred thousand won, but be careful and hang on to the receipt until it clears.
Don't worry about it if you go to Cheers. If you paid more than 300,000W to take a girl home you paid too much. The girl only gets half of the money from the drinks, and the bar fine. So it is best to make arrangements by phone so the girl gets the full amount.

I just read this article in the newspaper so i am guessing it's fairly accurate.but starting 23rd, the law about prostitution is going to get a lot more strict.with heavier fines and jail terms.They were saying that starting 23rd for about a month, they are going to regulate all the places (such as An-Ma, Hyu-ge-Tel.pretty much all the places that are mentioned in this forum! and i do not know what the deal is with RLDs but i am guessing it's pretty much the same as other places) a lot heavier than usual to set precedent i guess.So just a warning for other mongers.i know we gotta eat, but i guess we gotta eat a lot more carefully now.so i know it sux but my suggestion is to avoid all the places for at least a month or so.unless you KNOW for sure that it's safe.

This is one of Korea's usual "crackdowns" where previously unenforced laws are enforced vigorously for a set (and pre-announced) period during which everyone is on their best behavior. Then the crackdown ends and everything goes back to normal. There was a traffic-law enforcement crackdown earlier in the summer: Does anyone notice the difference in the drivers?

The "Sept. 23rd Law Enforcement" seems to be true.
Many well-known Korean punting sites for locals are now taken down because of the crackdown (each site has signs informing people of Sept. 23rd).
Be careful guys. The penalities seem pretty severe.

I just got back from an RLD, and there are already pimps soliciting on the streets, telling customers about new underground establishments once the 23rd rolls around.

Just in case you can't read Korean (i.e. like myself), you might be interested in the following link concerning the "crackdown". At least in this article, it doesn't seem to be targeting customers. Similar articles are probably in other papers too.

I feel for you guys that are stuck in Korea. It could be worse. At least it's holiday season in Korea during 1 week of the crackdown so you're really only abstaining for 3-4 weeks.
Just for the record, I walked throught Sin-Yongsan RLD the other night and had several offers. I wasn't sure white guys were welcome there. Anyway, in light of the possible "crackdown" not sure if this is useful to anyone. There were some hotties too. They were going for 70,000.
I have a feeling that area won't be around long due to the major swanky construction going on right across the street at the station. Not sure, but it seems like the city might want to sweep that little area under the rug anyway.
