Hello all fellow mongers and TG aficionados. Has anyone ever gone to Bangkok to stay with one girl at her place before? I never have but that is exactly what I am about to do on July 21st, this 2000 and three.

I was in Thailand back in April (my 3rd trip... newbie here) and I had some amazing experiences as probably anyone did that went there or lived there at that time. One of the girls I met is still in my mind. What can I say? I have become attached to her. I met her on ICQ before my trip. I already had my tickets and was looking forward to a week of bliss in the mongering scene. I ended up meeting her at Siam Center at Starbucks one night. We had dinner, went to the Hard Rock afterwards to buy my sister a T-shirt, and then took a cab to Khaosan Rd.

After two hours of drinking she asked me if I would take her to my hotel where we could talk in quiet. I agreed. We had sex that night and spent the next three days together. I can’t say I really liked her that much after the three days but later, I started to like her a lot. She’s never asked me for money and I’ve never given her any. But I have to say I’ve been spending about $150 to $200 a month talking to her on the phone. She has near perfect English. She understands all those crazy poems I was posting on here after my last trip. I quit posting them on here but I still send them to her and the 196 girls in my email list. It’s my hobby or MO, so to speak. :)

Hmmm. She has quite an Internet following as well, many fans. She was telling me how some fan sent her a bunch of books by a famous female British author the other day. I’m pretty sure she may have slipped the snake for money before but she’s never asked me for a monetary contribution. Though sometimes when I call her, she can’t talk, you know, won’t tell me anything like I love you or I miss you. The last time this happened I just said, “Hey, is this a bad time?” She told me yes and I said no problem, just call me on a good time. She called the next day and told me I was cool for having the attitude I had when she couldn’t talk. I said no problem.

She says, “call anytime you want,” and most of the time it’s cool but... Maybe four times in three months she has had that; “I can’t say anything,” attitude. To me that means there is a boyfriend or a client. I can’t really complain. It’s not like I haven’t been to Mexico or an AMP or a strip club since I left her in Thailand.

It looks like my next residence will be somewhere near Soi 70 and Sukhumvit. Maybe I should post this in the Bangkok Hotel section. Hell, I can’t figure out where to post this thing! 1) Post it in the Bangkok section. It’s where I’m going to be. 2) Post it in the Living in Thailand section. I know I’ll be staying in a Bangkok apartment with fans only. The Internet is 20 Baht per hour in this neighborhood, etc. I hope I can cope with no Aircon. 3) Post it in the Thai Women - Opinion & Advice section. What the hell am I getting myself into?

Personally I think this belongs in number 2 and number 3 the most, because i will be living in Thailand with a Thai girl, if only for a week. On the other hand I think it belongs in the Bangkok section. Anyone that spends too much time here will end up like me. :)

But I won’t know till I get there and I’m going! What else is there to say? Amazing Thailand? Land of Smiles? Tropical Fever? White boy in trouble? Who knows! It sounds like a reality TV show. Hi There everyone,

I will be visiting Bangkok for the first time in late October for a week. I've read so much on this site over the past few weeks that I can't wait to go. I have a days business then it's R&R.

My business contact suggested I stay at the Grand China Princess Hotel in Chinatown. Is this a decent Hotel and how does it go for location. Is it resonably close to some of the action?

Also, can someone tell me about BJ Bars. Are there any close to where I'm at? In fact which one should I try & has anyone had any experiences with them?

Hi guys,

Well. I have read many post in different forums. Some guys had really a good fantasy. Sometimes I felt that I am in a James Bond movie. It was really ridiculous.

Let me tell those of you remaining what to expect on your first visit to the Eden Club. You walk in and sit down at the bar. All the girls pile into the room for your inspection. Marc will greet you and explain the pricing scheme. You are expected to take 2 girls as this is what the club specializes in. Hi all

I am returning to Bangkok for my second visit in September. I'm glad to hear that Eden is as good as I remember!

I have a couple of questions that I wonder if you can help with:

One is, last time I looked but didn't touch the katoeys. This time, I'm feeling inclined to try - any recommendations of where to go (I know the 2 bars in NEP). Also, are the girls in the shows at Calypso open to offers?

The other point is around Pattaya. I didn't get there before. I'm not really a beach lover, I prefer the city, and I'm not really looking for a long term GFE, a couple of days is ok but not more as I like time to myself to do tourist things, and I don't want the sex scene every night. Is it worth going to Pattaya, or is it just as well to stay in BKK?

Open to any advice you guys may have.

Eden Club has problems below are post from three different sites. Done over a years time, so I don’t understand how Marc can say it is all one guy mad about the photo policy? The photo policy just changed about a week ago. No one person would have enough time to do all this. Something is wrong within Eden Club and that is easy to see.

Problems at the Eden Club

The one running the Eden Club seems to be falling apart.

I talked to one of his girls one day, and she said that business is down and that he is making the girls work more. Some times they have to do as many as 8 guys a day and then have to spend the night with a customer.

Because business is down, the girls have to put all of their tips into a bottle. One half of the bottle is divided among the girls and the rest goes to the business.

She claims that some of the nicer girls left and girls that are not very pretty were hired.

When a customer walks into the bar, if they do not jump up and greet the customer, they generally get talked to about it. One girl was fired because she was too slow.

Just back from three weeks in the land of a thousand smiles. Most of the
trip was great Bangkok and Pattaya were both very slow because of the time
of year. One thing that is still very troubling to me was a trip I made to
Eden Club in Bangkok. I had been to the club before in the passed and never
had a problem. The services at the club are a little overpriced and the
girls all older but you know what you get. 90 minutes with two girls of
almost anything goes sex.

I should also add what I do for work because it is important to the report.
I work for a large international company that installs and maintains
security and surveillance systems around the world. We have several
government contracts with Embassies to run checks for them. After 911 our
business went through the roof. So I find myself traveling a lot more for
the last two years.

My trip to Thailand was part business and the rest of it was to be play. I
had met a friend who was staying at the Nana Hotel and he wanted to go over
to Eden Club. So off we both went to the club. It was early in the day and
they had about a dozen girls to pick from. He had seen a girl that he wanted
but it seems she was waiting for a VIP appointment that was a few minutes
late. The club told him that if the Appointment didn’t come within 15 more
minutes she and her partner could go with him. So he wanted to wait and see,
I picked two girls and went upstairs.

In my shoulder bag I had one of my scanners from work. The scanner is used
to pick up radio waves from wireless microphones and video cameras.
Everything seem fine when I went into the room. I didn’t want to leave my
cash in my pocket on the hook because I couldn’t see it from the shower
area. When I when to put my money and watch into my shoulder bag the scanner
was on and showing a pickup? Which is not all that strange because a radio
(music) can sometimes cause a false reading. So I walked around the room a
little and the signal from the scanner changed several times and became
stronger when I was near a few objects that could have been the source of
hidden cameras. Also the places that I was getting the signals from would
have been were I would have put cameras if I wanted to record what was going
on in the bed.

It was more than I was looking for I made up a reason to go back downstairs
got my friend and left, the guy at the club wanted to know what was wrong
did I want other girls or did they do something wrong? I said no I just
changed my mind. Which he was very unhappy with but I didn’t care.

I didn’t say anything to the girls or the guy running the club. I learned a
long time ago when in a foreign country the rules are different and better
to keep what you know to yourself. I can’t say for sure that the room was
set up with hidden video cameras but based upon 25 years in the business, my
scanner and everything I was feeling the room was not clean, it was wired.
It could have been wired for surveillance audio only but in that case the
hit points were wrong. Based upon the location of the hits it would have be
for visual camera units.

I can’t prove that the room had cameras without going through the room and
doing a full sweep. Which I couldn’t do and doing that wouldn’t help if the
club knew about it before hand. They could always just clean the room first.
Needless to say I will not be going back to the Eden Club again.

Have any other members had and problems with the Eden Club?

I can only say, nothing has changed and there is no problem with Marc or anything in the Eden Club.

Went on my first trip to Eden Club not too long ago. I would characterize it as follows: yes its a BMW for mongers; but its a 1989 BMW with a 150 thousand miles on it.

The quality of girls is really low. The lighting in the bar is really poor, so the girls appear about 10 years younger in the bar than they actually are (for those who've been there, reminds you of Adelitas in Tijuana).

I just got back from Thailand 4 days ago. I spent 7 days in Pattaya and did one night of the GoGos. Honestly I didn't like the place to much, the gogos were more. I guess liberated then those in Bangkok. More nudity, more interesting shows, that is good, but the people are very very pushy. (Disclaimer I only spent a few days in the GOGOs in Bangkok anyway so maybe I just didn't see the good ones).

Just walking from your hotel to an internet cafe, girls shout at you to come have a drink, people try to sell you everything from fake jewels to parasailing adventures. I mean there is that in Bangkok but the are very aggressive in Pattaya. Still, in regard to the girls, it is truely a buyers market.

You say you don't like the beach, but just for the record, the best beach I found in Thailand was Koh Phi Phi. It was really spectacular. I went with a girl I met on the net, so I didn't inspect the gogo scene, but I don't think there was much of one. Ragee bar was cool though (it's just a disco). Massage parlous abound, but (strange, I spent 5 weeks in Thailand and forgot to get a massage… shit!).

Don’t know if this is what you want, but the tourists are almost exclusively sex tourists. Maybe good maybe bad.

On the plus side, getting around Pattya is very very easy, and a songthew ride to most places costs like 10 baht. You said you like cities, Pattya is quite small, it has a tiny mall, and just tons of beer bars and a few Gogos. It is easy to get to, but you can afford to skip this one. Maybe try Koh Samui, Chewang beach has a pretty lively scene, and it is pretty. And you can have your friend show you the genital shaped stones, and the mummified monk if you are so inclined.

Nei How! I think Chinatown is pretty far from the action. Check for hotels on the road “Sukhumvit.” Nana Plaza is on Sukhumvit Soi 4, and Soi Cowboy is a short taxi ride.

Check the Bangkok Hotels section for recommended hotels. Grace Hotel seems to be the most popular if you want to take guests back. I hear that more expensive hotels do not allow you to bring girls back, or give you lots of trouble. So, if the company is paying for it, you might need to find a hotel and email them, simply asking about their “guest policy.”

I am not sure what is close to Chinatown, never been there before. Massage parlous abound all over Thailand, so you can find those venues if you wish.

As for GoGos, the big places in BKK are Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy, and Patpong. Yes I recommend Nana Plaza cause it is the only one I have been to and been sober enough to remember.

Nana Plaza is on Sukhumvit Soi 4. Any Taxi Driver will know where it is.

Mandarin is on the second floor, right hand corner of Nana Plaza.

I was in Bangkok for three weeks last year. I stayed at Nana Hotel, and as I always do in Bangkok, I had some suits made. Because I had the time, I shopped around at a lot of stores, comparing prices and talking to the shopkeepers before I made my decision.

I had my suits made at Fashion Avenue, which is at 123 Sukhumvit, right around the corner from Nana complex. In fact the building backs up to Nana. I got the material I wanted at an average price for Bangkok ($125.00 each for microfiber suits), plus the usual neckties thrown in. After negotiating the final price, I argued an additional concession of being able to pay with my credit card without a surcharge. After two fittings, the suits were finished before I returned home.

I checked out Raja's. They were polite enough, but comparing the same fabrics, their prices were 20%-30% higher than all the other stores, no doubt to their prime location directly across from the Nana Hotel. They talked a lot about their service and the prominent social positions of many of their customers, but I got the feeling that there was a lot of hype in the atmosphere. We all know that there are a certain percentage of consumers that will convince themselves that paying more in a tony environment equates to getting more, but I'm not one of them.

Drummer Guy, your hotel is probably quite a bit closer to Patpong (pretty much just straight down Rama IV) than to the Sukhumvit area, so you might want to start there. It's simple enough to use the BTS to go back and forth between the two. Nothing much in the area you're in that's aimed at farangs as far as I know, though you can find places catering to the Japanese, which are rather more pricey than most of the numbers bandied around here and which also won't be terribly interested in you.

I already checked Google, and have come up with lots of very expensive ($800-$2000 per month), and some interesting ones that are fairly inexpensive (5000-13000 baht a month).

I haven't found any of the cheap ones that are close enough to the Nana area though. I've only spent a couple of hours looking. I've still got a little time.

I need a decent (not soft) bed, and would like a fridge and sink, along with tv. AC is a must, hot water heater doesn't matter too much.

Wanted to make the last day in Bkk. really memorable so decided to do 5 ST in one day as a farewell. The favorite massage parlour had closed down in Soi5, near Foodland. I have to agree with Marc on this one. Grand President's main business is not daily or weekly vacationers. It is monthly long term customers. The place is very comfortable and close to all the action (about equal distance between Nana and Cowboy, 2 small blocks from skytrain, and 3 blocks from Eden Club and Darling). It's where I usually stay. I get a weekly rate (1350baht per night, breakfast included), but you will get a much better rate (if you are lucky, you might negotiate down to $500 or $600 range) because you are staying a month. Probably worth the extra money because you will avoid all the hassles and get a very nice room with kitchenette. Give them a call and find out what they say.

PS: From your name, I take it you are hispanic. You might want to look around for some of the Latin clubs in BKK. I have heard about El Niño, among others. I was taken by a TG and I was quite drunk at the time, so I don't remember exactly where I went, but it was cool to dance Salsa and Merengue with a bunch of TGs. Kind of weird, even. Reading the posts here, I have the impression that I made an OK choice.

That kind of locks me in and I may want to take a side trip. I am going to change my reservation to 3 nights and take my chances. Are the hotels full that time of year? (late Sept.) What do you think?

Are there American style resturants in that area. I am a VERY fussy eater. (meat and potatoes)

I'm in BKK about every 2 months for a few weeks and have had a number of suits made at different places. The best by far are right at Majestic Tailors next to the hotel. Gee is the owner of both. Great people, but you find that most anywhere in BKK. It's the suits that are different. When you wear suits all the time and have them from all over the world, these have been some of the best ever. I really like the 120's and 150's Italian wool. They are so comfortable and most of all fit better than any I've had made in BKK and you don't have to worry about them switching the fabrics on you. Yes, it happens a lot. I've had probably a dozen made and 6 are from there.

They also made at least 20 awesome pairs of slacks and many shirts for me. Tell them you want change pockets in both of your front pockets. You will be glad you did and they will probably know who sent you.

I take care of a family there and was just there to take care of a little girls eye surgery. I will probably have another suit or two made when I'm there next month. By the way, they are not the cheapest. They are just the best I found. Hope this helps...

As far as I know, the only difference between the single and double is you get 2 breakfasts with the double. Unless you'll have chicas in the room that want food every morning, it won't be worth it.

I stayed on the third floor (Not Sukhumvit side), and things were pretty quiet. I did hear my neighbor banging away real hard a couple of times, but nothing too bad.

Are you booking through Majestic Suites themselves? I tried through Asia something or another first, and they said there were no rooms available at all. I emailed bob@majesticsuites.com directly and had no problems. I got a bit of a discount for 6 nights, over what they had listed on their site.

If you're really staying that many nights, I would ask for a minimum 10%, and perhaps 20% discount. Especially on the high priced room.

One thing to be careful of (and I found this in all nice Thai hotels), is that they have smooth marble flooring in the bathrooms. Very nice looking. Really slippery for fat guys...

Remember if you hand has enough strength to go into the wallet and pull out baht, you'll be accepted.

As Joe_Zop and others will attest to, I was afraid that I'd get turned down and such, since I'm huge. No such problems happened at all. The girls were very nice, I didn't get some of the looks I've gotten at US massage places and stuff ("Oh please, I hope he doesn't pick me").

I saw some 70 year old guys with 18 year old girls there. And they weren't their granddaughters!

Depending on what you like, Eden was my first port of call in Bkk. Some of the most gracious and energetic women I met on my trip. Darlings was nice, but a little pricey. I found some nice girls in the Beergarten, and independents in the Nana night market area.

I paid 600 baht for ST with independents for 1 1/2 or 2 hours. I only had good experiences, so I always tipped a bit more (300-500 baht). I got some nice massages and good service too.

If you like to take pictures, some are a bit shy, but if you get along well, they'll always let you take a pic or two.

I didn't even barfine any Nana girls. I did in Pattaya (a bar maid), which was my only so-so experience of the trip.

One of the reasons I wanted to shorten the reservation is I might want to take a side trip to Pataya.

In the original res. conformation, he told me that once I pay there are no refunds. They want me to pay full amount 2 weeks before I even get there. They say it's because it's the internet rate.

I am assume there are usually rooms available, if not there then somewhere else.

When I hear from Pong, I will ask about the 10-20% discount.

I have myself lived here in BKK since this april, and have in that time tried many different hotels and inn's and my experience is that if you are discrete, you will have no problems anywhere. The main problem for the hotels is that even that everyone knows what is going on, they don't want it blown up public.

So act normal and be polite = no problem.

If you don't want to take the girls to your nice hotel, rent a room in a 500B inn there are many many around near the 'fun' areas most are clean and ok, some will charge you 100B extra for the girl but only 1 in 10 and only if you are not discrete.

If you like a nice place try the serviced appartments, i have tried several myself and can warmly recommend Centre Point, it is a bit expensive but you have top class service and no problem whatever kind of business you like, i once had 3 girls at one time staying with me there.

When I first came I too did a lot of planning, but soon realised that there are no problem finding everything here, actually the problem is to avoid all the offers.

JakeII - I asked for 1200 baht, all inclusive for my room and got it. (Single superior) I'm not sure if Bob would go lower or not. I would also ask for a quiet room, I think the "back" side is nice and quiet, if that's important to you.

I did similar to what you want to do now. I booked for a few nights, extended one night, went to Pattaya for 2 nights, and then came back for one night.

You might mention that your friend recommended you, and he paid 1200 or such. Might work.

Dynasty has a moderate special in Pattaya. Get a free shuttle bus trip (one way), with 2 booked nights. Cost 350 baht coming back. The only downside to this, is that the Dynasty in Pattaya is up on the hill. No cheap rides, and the hotel shuttle only goes 3 or 4 times a day.

I will probably go to Pattaya sometime during my trip. You might be able to get a Meter taxi ride for 800 baht or so, one way, or there are some other buses that go there.

The new hot spot for freelancers is Gulliver's on Soi 5. The last time I was in the place it was hopping. Also as always the area around the Nana Hotel and Angels Disco still have some really good lookers.

You said that you don't like Go Go Clubs but at Nana Angel Witch has some good looking girls to pick from. Many will go with you after work now because things are very slow in the city. Darlings Massage always has great looking young girls working but the cost is high 2500 baht 90 minutes.

Just a few tips that may come handy:

I bought a dozen disposable toothbrushes at Big C in Pattaya for 3B each. They came very handy as very few of the girls actually carry their own. The path runs along a canal. There are actually 'crocodiles' in there! Well, not really a croc but rather a big Varanus lizard just like the ones at Phang Nga. But surely it looks like crocodile as it swims, if you are lucky to see one.

A Thai man was shouting from the other side of the canal and pointing in the water. I nearly froze, it was so unbelievable in the big city and rotten water. Didn't see it the next two times, though.

Once at Lumpini Park, you can continue the walk or just enjoy the atmosphere. As Sala Daeng skytrain station is just a few steps away you can catch the train home for 25B.

If you spent a few days in Bkk. then you will really apreciate a few lungfulls of fresh? air.

You can only do this during the day, definitely not at night as there are no lights and you are walking through the ghettoes.

When I was last there June 11, the TLR is no longer there on Sukhumvit. Could have moved somewhere else.

J.P. Travel directly at the Nana hotel is quiet good.
They talk proper english and french. I already know the owner for over 10 yrs. Can trust them and don't need to worry that they will go off with your money.
There are many others, no prob to find one

I'd reccomend the Dynasty Inn across the street from the Nana. Much smaller and more friendly staff, better food, and the newer wing rooms are better than the Nana rooms. Book early they fill up. The restaurant is open 24/7 and the food is good too.

M_Charlus, I'm not a travel agent guy since I like to do things myself, so I can't help you on that end, but you can hardly "get stuck" in Bangkok, since you can walk into any Thai Air office (or go online) and get a ticket to Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi anytime you want, and folks in the Vietnam section of this board discuss various hotels fairly regularly. Bangkok is simply one of the easiest places anywhere in the world to use as a jumping-off point.

try www.chawlatravel.com they have an office right in Patpong. I have used them a couple of times, but as JZ says, if you don't need to do anything in advance, walk out of your hotel, make a left or a right, and voila..... a travel agency.

From BKK to HCM City takes only 1 and 1/2 hour to fly. There are many airlines that fly in to Vietnam on a daily basis. Don't worry that you will be stuck in BKK for weeks. And remember, Vietnam requires a visa in order to enter the country except for some neighboring countries that it has visa waiver program. If you are in doubt, check with travel agency.

Don't pay more than B250 to the Taxi Driver. Pick up a freelancer from Angel Disco or somebody outside the lobby for a ST encounter B1000, maximum. Enjoy a nice free breakfast in the morning. Check out by 7:30 AM. Take a taxi, (must use the toll road ) and you will be at the airport by 8:15 AM for your outbound journey, nice and fresh. It always works for me.

BKK is a hub for Thai Air. They flight to just about anywhere in Asia. Can't think of a better place to get stuck for weeks than BKK.

I don't know how long you'll be flying but if you are arriving at 11:30 pm you are probably coming from the US in NW or UA. After traveling for 20 some hours you will be exausted. My recomendation is to stay in BKK an extra night if possible especially if this is your first time in BKK. If not possible you can always ask the bellboy at any hotel if he can recomend a good lady for massage if he has not offer you one already. Make sure you tell him exactly what you want and agree in a price before, also tell him you will send girl back if you don't like the lady.

I went to the Kangaroo Bar awhile back and had a somewhat similar experience. Just a "heads up" about King's Corner Bar in Patpong One. I've been there twice and each time I sat at the bar and just watched the babes, mostly lookers but (beware) lots of katoeys.

I finished my 80 baht Singha beer and attempted to hand my bill (80 baht) and a 100 baht note to the bar staff. (I didn't care for her and made it plain that I wasn't interested, never wasting her time.) She stomped off and I thought that was that...but

Long story short, I never received my 20 baht change.

After waiting 10 minutes, I found the girl and asked about my change. She immediatley became rude and agressive, so I walked away and asked for the Mamasan. After another 10 minute wait (and no Mamasan) I left.

The second time was almost identical (80baht drink, 100 baht payment, no change) except that I didn't bother to find the girl or ask for the Mamasan.

I have lived in Bangkok for six months and the only bar problems that I have encountered have been at King's Corner. Since I had the same identical "no change" problem both times, I think that King's Group management condones their dancers scamming customers.

I am not opposed to leaving a tip when I receive good service, but the decision whether or not to tip should be mine alone, not preempted by some pushy dancer that I am not interested in.

The Beer-Garten in Sukhumvit Soi 7 must be the best pick-up joint in whole Nana area.

It's easygoing, relaxed atmosphere and there's no loud music at all. Also, thankfully no air-con and this makes it just so casual like a suburban pub back at home.

Even at noon usually there are a few hos around and by 2pm quite many. As long as you are nice to them they don't seem to mind if you bang several in a row.

One important thing though: NEVER talk to them about the performance of another girl in the pub. Word gets around especially with females. It can get real nasty.

Quality of meat is up and down. Occasionally some real stunners but usually atleast a couple of really cute girls.

And drinks are cheap too. The Thai foood they cook I found always pretty good and the continental stuff as well (though it's pricier).

Good idea about having lots of small change. Even when one gets one's change back, the bar staff can be so slow about it. (Hoping of course that "rich" farang will just leave and not collect his change)

We the users have most of the control over pricing of sex in Thailand. I know based against our home countries that the extra is really very small. But we still should not pay it. The more we pay the more prices go up. Let us say for example half the guys going into Nana Plaza offered 5000 baht short time to the girls, the girls would then want that from all the guys. But if all the guys would agree to only 1000 baht long time the girls would be unhappy at first but then come around because they have no choice. The problem is that the best looking girls know if they hold out someone will pay the rate. I go to Thailand a lot and spend about six months of each year in Thailand. I pay the same thing high season, low season or no season. But I stand firm, so it the best girl turns down my offer when it is very busy then I don’t take her even on my terms when it is slow. Do that to a few girls in the bar and the world gets around. Keeping the prices down is something we all need to do but it starts one person at a time. I’m in for keeping prices down and I still find plenty of girls to keep me happy.

One more comment on PRICES at Nana:

Yes, prices seem to have increased in the last two years. Patpong barfine used to be 400 now it's 450. Nana BF was 500 generally and now a lot of bars charge 600, but not all, some of the bars still charge 500 barfine, for example Bottoms-up, Spanky and maybe others. The meat is quite good there too.

Two tears ago a lot of the girls would take B800 ST, now I guess the minimum is 1000, but you can still try esp. if it's a quiet night. It's still better for them than no money at all.

Asking price ST seems to be 1500 or 2000 generally for the girl. Just for fun one night I roamed around a few bars to test how firm this was.

Started at Rainbow 2. Picked a cery attractive girl. She asked 2000. I stuck with my 1000. She said "ok but don't tell the other girls". I said "I will think about it" and left.

Next bar, same story. Bottoms-Up followed. Asked one skinny girl, she wouldn't go for less than 1500. Asked another one, 1000 was ok. I kept looking. Picked a big-breasted one and got it down to 1000 again.

The lesson is: There's absolutely no reason to pay more than 1000 ST for the ho and even less is possible. There are always a large number of hos around who are attractive and will go for 1000 or less.

The extra benefit you get is that if you go with a ho who gives you a big discount then there might be some small trace of attraction between you also, and it's not just the cash.

In effect you are likely to get better service from the cheaper ho. They are not machines, try to play on the human side instead. The best is if you have a lot of time up your sleeve, eg. at least a week to shop around. A month is even better.

I am certainly against ripping them off, but I believe that they are getting a good deal when on a quiet night I take them for 800 or 1000.

Also, you don't need to buy a lady-drink for each ho you negotiate with. If you do, your costs will go through the roof. It' so easy to spend B1000 a night on drinks and you didn't even get laid.

Tips: Yes, do have some 10 baht coins in yer pocket. If a waitress complains about it then give nothing, take back even the 10 baht. I do.

I always do tip them but always only 10 baht. No matter how many drinks I bought.

If you pay more, thy will just think you are a sucker and will squeeze you for more.

Yes, it's so hard to reach some sort of agreement between men. It sems that we all go our own ways therefore the hos reap all the benefits. In Bkk and everywhere in the world. Life's hard and expensive when your brain is between your legs (like myself).

Arrived in Bangkok last Wednesday night. Checked into Woraburi Inn on Sukumvit Soi 4 (1,100 Baht for junior suit). Girl friendly, good rooms and good service. The pool is small, but very clean and well maintained. As it was late when I arrived, I headed straight for the Thermae. This is to inform people about a place called Carousal (second or third floor)in Nana Plaza. The bar fines are now 600 bt that is expensive. You are correct about the late night BG's in Bangkok. I typically take United from here in the Midwest and Flight 875 always arrives at 22:55. I do check luggage typically tho. It's never a problem and I always have plenty of time to get to Majestic Suites, take a shower & shave and be ready for the "running of the babes" out of NEP at 2:00. If you turn the corner at Sukhumvik and Soi 4 at the wrong time you could be trampled / groped / carried off! If you walk toward Angel Disco you typically don't make it past the parkling lot before you find a gaggle of ready & willing LBFM's that are ready to bargain. I have been in Thailand and Bangkok respectively two times. As newbie to newbie I can tell you that the TG will find out very quickly that you are a newbie. By the way, I don’t know how long Sukhumvit road is but to give you an impression: At my first trip to Bangkok I did frequently walk from Soi Nana (Sukhumvit Soi 3) to Soi Cowboy (Sukhumvit Soi 23) and vice versa. One way did last appr. 20-30 minutes. Now, I wouldn’t do this anymore. It is too exhaustive due to crowded streets and heat. Instead I would take the skytrain. Okay, it is a distance of one station only, but it is cheap, clean and relaxing.

Stoly, I generally agree with you about Bangkok, as it's like most overly large third-world cities -- polluted, overpopulated, with perhaps the worst traffic anywhere in the world. (That's one of the reasons I like Chiang Mai, as it's slower, less crowded, etc.) But Bangkok also has some amazingly beautiful areas, definitely some sights worth seeing, and obviously tons of action. You sorta have to put up with the bad to get to the good. You might find Pattaya has the same kind of crowded lack of charm, though it's considerably smaller and you can just walk around a bit, and the same will go for Phuket if you only hang out in the highly overbuilt areas. You might try staying at one of the smaller beach areas on Phuket -- keep in mind that a tenth of the Thai population is in or around Bangkok, so elsewhere it's not so crazy.

Funny but I always prefer the more laid back environment of Pattaya. I love the Beer bars wher you can just sit and talk to the girls. Bangkok for me is good for about 2 nights then I want to take things easier and zip down to Pattaya.

Joe Zop, you are right, it's just a matter to put up with the traffic, pollution, all the things that you see on the streets. Hey, in summary I have nothing to complain. Jamito, nothing's wrong with the girls, my friend of yesterday has sizeable firm breast, and the one the day before yesterday was kinda of an Asia Carrera lookalike. Again had a good time yesterday, at the beer garden I've meet a fellow traveller that goes under the nick of claws_of_tiger or something like that, if you read this, hello, hope you're having a good time. Just ouside the beer garden they prepare good cocktails in a sixties's vw, it is on the street but quiet and clean with chill-out music, check it out, it's a good place to hang out and recover.

I have been to Thailand 8 times in the last 5 years, and like you, I started out staying near Sukhumvit, finding it filthy, noisy, hot and in general an undesirable place to be in for more than a short time. A couple of times I avoided Bangkok altogether and went directly to Phuket, preferring to stay at Karon Beach. That is until last April when I stayed at a hotel on Rachadapisek Rd. on the advice of a friend who has stayed there 10 or more times. I am not going to plug the particular hotel again, so please see my April report under Bangkok Hotels or my recent report under Massage Parlors. My point is that I got an entirely new perspective about Bangkok because I was living in a very desirable area that is not filthy, noisy and as hot, and has good shopping and relatively easy access to the action most anywhere in town. This last week I had my best visit ever in Bangkok because I was able to take advantage of the good points while visiting the Sukhumvit area and not have to put up with the bad points except for occasional slow traffic in a taxi. There will be a subway on Rachadapisek in the foreseeable future, so that one can avoid using a taxi at all. I will never stay in the Sukhumvit area again, but will enjoy Bangkok as many more times as possible.

I have been going to BKK now for many years. And on almost every occasion I take a week and travel down to Hua Hin. It is a 2 hour drive South West from BKK. (there are flights and a train also).
But, Hua Hin is a traditional summer home of the Royal Family and it has some nice charming hotels and resorts. I personally go for the golf since it has many courses in the area.
I highly recommend it.

Any news on the subway. On my last trip in April it looked like it was about to open. Any experiences. I like to stay close to the skytrain to avoid the traffic as much as possible during the day. The subway might be a good alternative for transportation when looking for hotels in other areas. The Asoke station has an exit right next to Soi Cowboy.

Just back from a fun filled two weeks in LOS. Had a lot of fun dancing with the waitresses at lollipop in nep. Girls prices were about the same 1000- 1500 ST and 1500-3000 LT same at other clubs. For those of backdoor action semi cutie at angel witch will take care of you. I usually Don't do but she is very up front about what she will let you do. and does a great job (looks Indian). Question? Don't know the name of club but as you enter NEP and take the stairs on the left second bar on left there is a real young girl inside is she 18 don't look it. Here is one subject that I find very fascinating and I wonder about the experiences of others.

If you have spent some extended time in LOS night venues you surely must have observed the 'nightly house cleaning ritual' at the bars.

If you want to see one then arrive early, like 7-8 pm.

Every bar has a big wooden 'phallus' (ti. dick) handy (or more often several different sizes, some as big as a man's forearm). The chicks would line up one after the other standing with legs wide open.

The first one would grab the 'dick' then throw it back between all the pairs of legs to the last girl and beyond. This they would do in different directions until the 'dick' reaches the doorway.

Then (usually) the mamasan grabs the 'phallos' , dips it in a glass of whisky, sprinkles the fluid generously over the place and the girls and finally splashes the liquid out the doorway (sometimes on an unsuspecting customer who is about to enter).

During all this there is general loud ovation, cheering and laughing. At night if they run into trouble, they would repeat the procedure (eg. if they have a difficult customer or the cops make a nuisance).

I believe this to be some sort of voodoo ceremony and obviously they have some faith in it's effect otherwise they wouldn't be doing it year after year.

As for golf, there are many, many courses, no less than 7 in a 40km area. Just one (not the best) is
http://www.palmhills-golf.com I recommend Springfield, and Imperial Lake View as the best kept. But, Palm Hills might be the easiest. DO NOT play Royal Hua Hin, its garbage.

Hua Hin (meaning "Head Rock") is a place to relax on the beach or by the pool after golf. No go-go bars. But there are outdoor bars similar to Pattaya, but, not as wild.

I am fairly new to the forum and live in VA near Washington DC. I will be in Thailand at the end of the year but will be with wife and kids visiting. I know the window will be very, very small to monger, but feel like I must. I believe the name of the hotel we will be in is the Princess Srikansarin (or something very similar) and it is located in or attached or less than a block from SEACON mall.

I am praying that someone will let me know about anything I can get into in the hotel or VERY close by for a non-Thai speaking visitor who wants to experience Thai women.

If you are going to be there over a week, you may want to try the Apartment hotels like Centre Point or Oakwood. If that is not good, I suggest you change hotels and go to Rembrandt:

Have read forum under Bangkok, Bangkok hotels but unable to see much info on that hotel; of course, I may have read something that is close by but have not noticed Seacon in any post so wouldn't have a clue if something fun and easy is close by.

I may try to pick up golf this week so I can go off and try that one; otherwise, a bar name or massage place close by would be invaluable.

Toy Boy, note that (Deputy) Minister Maleenont isn't saying a thing about the sex trade itself, only about appearances. He's not at all concerned with the clearly non-traditional massage parlors where everyone know it's all about sex, only the traditional ones who are branching out, and he's not concerned about women being bar-fined right and left, only about them appearing in "indecent performances" in public venues. This just sounds like typical bureaucratic bluster, incorporating the Thai ability to tolerate just about anything as long as appearances and deniability are maintained. While it might result in something with shows akin to closing down bars at the prescribed closing time, he's actually not talking about anything other than enforcing existing laws.

So... it's shake-down time for bar owners, we'll all see tamer shows and everyone covered back up again for a few months, except where we don't, and there will be a couple of places -- undoubtedly farang-owned -- which will loudly made be examples of in order to "win" the war on obscenity. Victory will be declared, everyone will walk softly for a little while, and then back to normal.

Yawn. Listening to Thai politicians yammer on is the same as listening anywhere else. Recall that Thaksin has threatened to sack ministers who don't demonstrate progress -- this is no doubt Maleenont's effort at demonstration.

Ihis is my first post at the Bangkok forum. I could not agree more with Kent. I have been to Bangkok more them 10 times. I stay around Rachadapisek rd every time I go. Their are few girl friendly hotel in the area like merchant court, Emerald, Fortune, Saim Beverly, Palazzo. The price start from 950 Baht they're all nice and clean place to stay.

I stay at the Emerald hotel most of the time. Many great soap and massage place on the Rachadapisek rd. This here is more of a asian crowd, guys from Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong stay here most of the time.

I went to Beer Garden on the 5th and 7th of this month. I had lots beer and meet some great new friend threre but didn't go with any girls because I don't know how much is the going rate over there and my hotel is a bit far from there. I didn't know they will go with me but that is a great place to hang out for someone don't need AC on all the time:)

Leafing through the Forum in general, looking at several of my favourite countries, I have to make the remark that this action does not seem isolated just to Thailand.

In fact several members report present crackdowns in Sri-Lanka, Goa, Cambodia, etc.

Also in Western countries I see subways posted full of antisex posters for example by organisations such as Unicef. Of course it is often covered up as "anti-childsex" but everyone knows what the real game is about.

In my humble opinion the situation is: Some overzealous female politicians or industrialists got in the position of power to influence (most likely financially) governments to act this way.

I expect there is a lot more to follow in the next few years and the reality of "Thai Sex Paradise" may not live much longer.

Of course it starts with "anti-childsex" etc. because everyone hates that but I wonder what the real game may be. What is going to follow?

It is so much in the face now that is rather becoming anti-sex or anti-male. Just think: if you mention "child-sex" what gender comes to mind right away? Female? No!

I think it is simply because recently females in general have acquired previously unprecented power and this is not declining.

Now your boss is female, your banker is female and even your prime-minister is female. "Sexual-politics" is what I would call it.

It's no shit. At the moment if a man wants to do some pussy pumping in the west then he has to go through some serious arse-licking at the majority of women to get somewhere.

Some guys are happy with this. But getting paid-sex even on international scale is not gonna get easier.

I sincerely hope you are right about this latest clamp-down being just a show-piece. But I remember people saying the same thing two years ago when K. Purachai ordered the enforcement of the 2:00 AM closing laws. Well, they are still being enforced, at least for 99% of places in the Kingdom. Remember that prostitution is theoretically illegal in Thailand.

As always, as you say, the basic objective is to protect Thai morality, so establishments frequented by the locals may be the initial target. But sooner or later it always spills over into the places we expats prefer to enjoy ourselves. Just look at what happened to the Shark Club in Patong Beach. These “social order crusades” simply become another excuse/means for the more powerful Thais to get rid of their competitors and enrich themselves further. And if it means screwing up the holiday entertainment of a bunch of low-life, miserly farangs then: tough luck.

(I do take that comment by Khun Pracha personally though, I have spent a stack of money in Thailand these last 20 years.)

I’m sure it won’t be the end of sex-shows-as-we-know-them in LOS, but I’m also beginning to wonder where the whole SE Asian morality roadshow is heading. Thailand bans or closes something, then Malaysia does something similar, Cambodia always seems to be raiding or shutting-down something these days, even Singapore gets in on the act shutting down Orchard Towers (the famous four floors of *****s) a while back. Then it all seems to die down for a while, but with increasing regularity nowadays the clamp-downs seem to begin again. If the local economy continues to improve, sex tourism will become even less important and there may be more priority given to the preservation of “Thai morality” or whatever guff they want to call it in the various local countries.

well, my point on the 2am closings is that really, such a thing wouldn't even be an issue in most countries, who all have firm closing times for bars. it's the fact that it was so routinely flaunted, with plenty of places loudly open well past 4am, that helped make a crackdown be an easy way to make a big show. i know everybody got all upset, but i didn't then and still don't see what the big deal was/is -- so a bar has to close at the proscribed time, big deal. it didn't exactly stop the sex trade dead in its tracks.

since they also cracked down at that point on shows, nudity, and **** workers, this initiative seems more like a reminder that they were serious than anything else. i don't disagree whatsoever that this will be another way for rich thais to get larger slices of the pie, but since a large amount is already grabbed by these same people that also means there's some protection from a crackdown going too far. yes, prostitution is also technically illegal, but i can't picture thai officials suddenly thowing a couple hundred thousand women out of work, getting rid of 10% of thailand's gdp, (estimates of how much money the sex industry generates in los actually go as high as 14%) and cutting off the estimated three hundred million dollars that flows from sex workers in urban areas back home to their rural families. that would be economic suicide, and particularly in the current state of the economy world-wide it'd be a tough pill to swallow.

sure, i wouldn't be surprised if the long-term goal isn't to replace sex tourism with other economic forms. i mean, honestly, responsible leaders in most countries would have the same goal -- it's not exactly a great world image to have, and se asians would naturally prefer to be known for other aspects of their cultures. but people have also been talking about the demise of such things for a very long time, and there's been little substantial change. it's not as though the sex trade disappeared back when thailand was truly booming and expansion was everywhere.

and, yeah, i've contributed a fair amount of baht to the thai economy as well, but, really, a politician from as corrupt a place as thailand calling sex tourists low-lifes is the pot yapping about the kettle.

Here is my report from Bangkok from 8-8-03 thru 8-11-03

First off, I got a great deal at the JW Marriot from Priceline by selecting 5 star hotel on Sukhumvit option. There are only 2 5 start hotels: The Landmark and JW Marriot that I know of and both are girl-friendly and very very nice. I bid 55 bucks and got it for the long weekend. Damn, what a great place!

Biergarden on Soi 7:

Average lookers to Slightly above avg. Best time to go between 7 and 8. Prices are in the 1K to 1.5K baht.

Q-Bar:

Very expensive. 600 bht cover and it includes 2 drinks. Bought a bottle of JD for 2800 bht (was drunk with western friends!). Girls slightly better then avg to good. Some working girls mixed with normal chicks and tourists.

Ok to good bodies with a couple of nice tight young ones. 600 bht BF and 2K long and 1.5K bht short..

2 PART REPORT: SEX INDUSTRY CLOSING IN THAILAND!

First My buddy who resides in Thailand 6 months of each year since 1984, has dozens of Thai girlfriends and mongers at least twice on a weekly bases. He has just informed me that the Thai government is dead serious this go around about cracking down on the sex industry! He told me they have a 3 year goal to wipe clean the brothels and gogo bars servicing any form of sex, sex shows, or full nudity! He told me the ball game will be over in the coming 18 months. Sure we will always be able to find WG in the LOS, but it will never again be as open and robust as in the past. Angers me badly. To me when I went to Thailand and got off my long flight, it was like stepping into an absolute fantasy world, almost unbelievable. No place like it on earth. As much sex with beautiful women as any man can handle at any pace you want! Well, those days are coming to an end. He even told me they ran an undercover sting busting 17 locals using undercover decoys! They mean business this go around. Check the local papers, should be a story or two about the stings.

My friend also told me the girls are very worried, for many they do not and cannot take up refuge in the Thai slammer as they do this to feed themselves and their families!
Places like Jupiter and the Eden club will be shut down very soon, ole Marc might end up in the slammer himself, who knows.
It's a bad deal.

The Thai government did a huge economic analysis and came up with the following numbers in the report my friend sent to me.

1. The sex industry accounts for approx. 5.5% of the Thai GDP. A study done over 3 years by the Thai government itself.

2. Due to Thailand being recognized openly as the Sex Mecca of the world, they feel and estimate they are decreasing (yes decreasing) there GDP, from tourism and being viewed by most of the world for accepting this trade openly by some 17-19%. The article went on to say, that by closing down the sex industry in Thailand it would set things back for a maximum of 2 years and then they would reap huge rewards from foreign endorsements and growth by cleaning up their act. This would be in the tune of some 17-19% increase in GDP!

They are dead serious this go around. Many governments today are indeed deeply influenced by Women, therefore these same women will applaud when Thailand cleans up their house by offering support! Thailand knows this now!

They are also forming a huge task-force of some 1200 officers in Bangkok alone, for the sole purpose of closing down the sex industry for good! Yes, they even plan to imprison Farangs. Boys, you better go get that tang right away, it's about to loose it's juices!

WRT your comment that being the sex capital of the universe is not good for Thailand’s image, I agree, but it makes me smile to think of my first “innocent” encounter with LOS in 1983. I was on a Singapore Airlines stopover for 3 nights in BKK and had been to Patpong and brought a girl back to the hotel, which was quite posh. I nervously went up to the reception desk and asked if it was OK to take a girl back to my room. The fearsome looking night receptionist scowled at me, and said, “Why you ask this? You pay for room, it up to you who sleep in your room!” Well, that relaxed me a whole lot and I had a whale of a time that night. Two days later when leaving at the airport I got talking to a Thai security guard and, fresh from an all-nighter in my hotel room, I told him I thought Bangkok and Thailand were the most wonderful places on earth. He smiled at me and said that the Thais took it as a great compliment that foreigners found their women so beautiful and wanted to travel here and even live here for sex.

Man, oh for a return to that sort of friendly, down to earth attitude!

Now you’re really scaring me. I have heard some of the sort of figures you quote, and also the idea that us low lifes are scaring off rich Yankees and Germans who only stay in 5 star hotels and are happy paying 250 Baht for a bottle of beer. It seems to be one of Thaksin’s regular rants. It’s propaganda, of course, just look at Patong Beach in January: 3 km of Germans and Scandinavians (and nowadays also E. Europeans and Russians) sunning themselves and many of them staying in budget accommodation. They are largely there for the sun, not the sex, and spend a lot less than the average monger. A can of Heineken is 40 Baht on the beach. So what do K. Pracha and Shinawatra want to do about them? They're definitely not boosting Thailand's economy very much!

This is the same old noises, a new leader taking a new office and trying to prove there status in there office. Also, get some additional funding to live on (i.e. money under the table). It is an Asian thing.

I live in Korea from 83 to 93, and they were doing the same thing, this has to be gone before the Olympia’s. The only thing that happen is the in your face approach of the sex industry went away. The Nana, Soi Cowboy, etc., type areas are still there, just tone down.

I have been hearing the same thing in Thailand since the first time I went to Bangkok in 1984. It will take allot more than a few years to end this in Thailand. The demand is too high with the foreigners, but the higher demand is the Thai people themselves. The Thai men use the sex industry many times more than any foreigners use it. Do you believe the new person that is pushing the issues, has ever gone to a MP, Night Club, a Number Hotel, or any other venue of this industry? If he has not, he does not live in Thailand.

The other thing is Thailand can not afford the effect of this to the GNP, especial after the last 24 months with SARS and 911.

There will be problems for the next 2 to 3 months, but than it will be back to normal business. 18 to 24 months from now, it will be back to again, but after a few months it will be gone again. In between, the boys in brown will be getting there kick backs and screwing with the club owners. It is normal noises in the sex industry in Thailand.

gettingtang, i'd be interested in a citation to look at the study you mention -- my numbers came from the international labor organization and others, and are pre-thaksin. (those figures also included subsidiary money that was generated, i believe.) again, it wouldn't at all surprise me if a long-term goal was the end of the sex industry, since that's really a responsible leadership position in terms of building a country's image and self-esteem, but in order to manage that there's gotta be a corresponding economic expansion in other areas, and that's certainly nothing that been happening thus far. let's face it, the money generated by the sex industry also acts as a subsidy for farmers in the north and east of the country, and there has been plenty of dissatisfaction from them of late over everything from the rice seed scandal to damming issues. thaksin and his administration have a lot of goals, and a lot of rather autocratic ideas (read, for example, his theories on why "southeast asian democracy" is an improvement over other democratic systems and approaches) about how things ought to take place. that doesn't mean they're going to happen. thaksin's stated long-term goals also include ending drug use among thais, particularly stemming yaba addiction, and things have gotten substantially worse under his watch in that regard, and to end corruption, which is also very clearly not happening, so what's said and planned and what actually takes place are often two different things.

toyboy, i agree we're mostly congruent in attitude. there's no doubt that thailand would prefer to be a family destination -- what country wouldn't? and obviously thailand's reputation as a sex mecca scares off some potential tourists, so rehabilitating that reputation is clearly an important thing for thais. being branded as a place that's hospitable to ****s and mongers is bad for the image, and it's not going to get families with kids flocking to airplanes for visits. that's nothing to do with feminists one way or another -- wives generally aren't going to be looking to go someplace with the kids where they have substantial fear hubby's going to be sneaking off to get some on the side.

i think the vast majority of thais look at both sides of the coin at once, even those who have no truck whatsoever with the sex industry. i've had any number of "normal" thais i know inquire about what was wrong when i've been there for a while and haven't turned up with a steady tg on my arm, and that includes both males and females, and different social classes. heck, i'm certainly hoping there aren't massive changes or crackdowns, and i believe history tends to show that most of such efforts end up being primarily noise, but it's pretty hard for me not to have at least some degree of sympathy for the effort on some level or another. the whole scene could work just fine even if it wasn't quite as "in your face" and if it no longer included dart shows, pussy smoking, goldfish and razorblade manipulation., etc thailand has an awful lot to offer, and let's face it -- there truly are a fair number of sex tourists who fit exactly the description khun pracha decries. i've run into plenty who make me shudder with their total lack of any respect or care about perception, who are just drunk and boorish. (dear god, am i turning into z/s.a.?) there are lots of folks on this board who feel the sum total of thailand is pattaya and bangkok and nothing else, and that's part of the perception to which the thai government reacts badly. and i say that not to say that folks with that take on things are at all wrong, as we all go for our own purposes and interests, and i'm certainly a highly enthusiastic participant in the scene, but simply to note that any country with an iota of pride -- and the thais have plenty -- aren't going to prefer to be thought of as one giant bordello if they've got the choice of something else that generates the same amount of tourists and money.

I'm visiting Thailand for all of October.

I'm famililar with Thailand and the scene, as I visit roughly once a year (mostly Bangkok and Pattaya), although I have ventured as far as Chang Mai.

I'm going to do a train trip to northern Thailand, into Laos, and then down through Cambodia.

I was figuring on taking a Thail girl with me.

I was wondering where would be best to find a girl for this? Bangkok is a little more pricey than Pattaya so maybe a trip down to Pattaya to find a girl would be best (that's if I take a beer bar girl). If I take a beer bar girl, I'm wondering if I would have to pay her bar fine each day she is away? I suppose she could tell a white lie to the bar that she has to go back home, ill relative or something.

Otherwise, I could look for a freelancer, probably Angels Night Club at the Nana hotel.

What would be a fair price per day to take a girl with me on the trip, considering I'm paying for all transport, meals and accommodation? I was figureing on 700baht to 1000 a day.

Any info will be much appreciated.

Also, if anyone has trained it around Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, I'd be interested in any advice.

The funny thing about the raid in Nana last Friday night by the government is how the T.V. station and the media were there at the same time the officials were there doing the raid. The whole thing was setup for a media. Close a few clubs, state to the media the bad infludes the sex industry is Thailand in terms to the foreigner. Then hope that the foreign news companies pick up the story, to show that Thailand is cleaning up the sex industry to the world.

Actually, the same setup happen in December of 01'. The mayor of Bangkok came into Nana with the media and close down a few clubs. It was all over the T.V. and newspaper the next day.

I agree with Freeer that the Thai men use a different part of the industry in Thailand. But the local media and the government never target there part of the industry. The simple reason for this, this industry is part of the culture. The dark side of the culture, but still part of it. The oldest profession is still the oldest profession, and it has not hidden in the back room as much in Asia as in the west, especial in countries like Thailand and the Philippines.

As in most Asian countries you will not see locals hanging out in the foreign areas industry for two reasons; one, the local are not welcome by the club owners in the foreign areas and the other their culture is different, thus they like different types of fun, Would you want to hang out with allot tourist, acting crazy in a candy store. If you go out on the town with a local business partner, 9 times out of 10, he will not want to go to the western sections of the sex industry. They will take you to a Karaoke, etc., to a local section of the sex industry

At the end of the day, if they would wipe out the sex industry in Thailand, the affect to GNP in Thailand will be allot more than the 5% related to the foreign sector of the business. In addition, it will take allot more than a few years to do it, it will take decades, to get the culture to change.

The only threat that I see to the fun in Thailand in the near future is a mad bomber as in any part of the world today.

This is very true. I believe it is only a matter of time before Thailand is targeted by these scum bag terrorists. It is for this reason, I stay away from hotels such as the Marriot, Hyatt, Hilton and Sheraton. They, in my opinion, might likely be the biggest targets as far as hotels goes. We have all seen this happen if we have spent anytime in Bangkok. It's probably just a matter of time before the tourist scene is targeted in Bangkok.

All that being said, it shall never keep me from going to the LOS. I also know the Thai government, will not treat kindly any group intending harm to its people or tourism! The gloves come off in that country for dealing with this sort of thing. No trails, no humane treatment, no attorneys..................just disappearances. IMO, the way it should be!

More than 1,000 prostitutes hanging around Sanam Luang and Khlong Lot have been rounded up in the past few months under a measure to clean the city ahead of October's Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.
But police say prostitutes return almost as soon as they are fined, and the measure is not working.
Prostitutes, mostly women aged 20-50, continue to ply their trade at night, just as they have done there for decades.
Prostitutes are fined only 100 baht for every arrest. Some are fined and arrested several times a night. Police say it is also hard to tell some prostitutes from pedestrians.
Samran Rat and Phra Ratchawang police started the crackdown along Khlong Lot, near the Interior Ministry, in June.
Chana Songkhram police are rounding up prostitutes around Sanam Luang.
The crackdown also includes areas around public parks such as Lumphini park and in front of love motels.
Pol Maj-Gen Phadet Thalawong, chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau's division 6, said Samran Rat police arrested 291 prostitutes in June and 418 in July, while Phra Ratchawang police nabbed 230 prostitutes in June and 357 in July.
``I asked police stations such as Pathum Wan, Bang Rak, Samran Rat and Phra Ratchawang to send special teams to check hotels in troubled areas to pressure prostitutes to stop selling their bodies,'' he said.
The prostitutes have sex with customers in small hotels. They pay 100-150 baht for hotel rooms besides sex charges which are as low as 50-150 baht for old prostitutes.
However, the hotels have devised a way to escape legal action by claiming that they only open rooms for guests and are not sex-service providers.
Police can only warn hotel owners not to allow prostitutes in their rooms. If they do they can have their licence revoked.
A member of a police suppression team who requested anonymity said more than 10 women prostitutes were arrested, fined and blacklisted every day, but they always returned.
Officers felt uncomfortable since they had other work to do and also sympathised with prostitutes who had no other way to earn a living.
``There are not only women hanging around near Sanam Luang, Khlong Lot and many public places selling their bodies but also teenage boys looking for homosexual customers, both Thais and foreigners.
``More have turned to serve women, too,'' a police officer said.
Pol Maj Ekkachai Chaicharoen, Chana Songkhram police station's inspector for suppression, said it was hard for police to differentiate prostitutes from pedestrians and police could be sued for human rights violations if they accused someone falsely.
Police teams worked two shifts a night _ the first shift for rounding up old faces around midnight, and the second shift for arresting women waiting alone in the area about 3am.
``We arrested more than 500 prostitutes in July.
``More than 20 people have been nabbed every day this month.
``They are freed after being fined, but they return. Some people are arrested twice in one night. They run away when they see police,'' Pol Maj Ekkachai said.
The officers felt uncertain whether their crackdown on prostitutes ahead of the Apec meetings would succeed.
Every night, at least 30 prostitutes aged between 20-40 wait for customers around Sanam Luang.
They look better than the ones around Khlong Lot.
They serve customers and charge them about 500 baht excluding hotel fees. Sometimes men and elderly women also go there looking for customers.
Many prostitutes around Sanam Luang are not full-time professionals but people moonlighting as prostitutes when they need money.
Prostitutes around Khlong Lot tend to serve tuk-tuk drivers and construction workers.
Pol Maj Ekkachai said police still hoped to solve the problem though prostitutes had plied their trade there for years.
``We asked the prosecution and the courts about detaining prostitutes before fining them, in the hope of giving them a scare.
``We can't put them in jail pending the fining process, so police have to fine them during questioning and then release them,'' he said.
A police proposal to ban prostitutes from the area at night was once rejected by a judge, who thought the move breached their human rights.
Making Sanam Luang a protected zone at night would not work either, as putting up barricades would spoil the landscape.
Kai (not real name), 30, who has been arrested on prostitution charges, said she sold her body to help her family pay education expenses and look after her ill father.
Sanam Luang was a good place because she was too old to work in a brothel and had no money to pay pimps. She said her customers paid hotel room fees.
Her main worry was the police.
Several other women prostitutes in the area also gave a lack of money as their reason for doing this kind of work."

I am just back from 3 weeks in LOS. I do not have much useful info to share these days since I tend to stick to my own local sweetheart and take her with me wherever I go (it was Pattaya this time).

One funny anecdote though: my last night in BKK was on the day of Her Majesty the Queen's birthday. The powers that be take advantage of the holiday to close down most of the venues that us farangs take for granted. Asoke Plaza was dark and deserted, as was Soi Cowboy.

This is ridiculous enough. But I expected that. But I was also unable to play a game of pool with my GF, and the Italian restaurant I went to would not serve alcohol on that night, so no beer wih my pizza !

Besides that, the papers are full of this Chewit guy, who is the Emperor of the Massage Parlors, he claims that he has been paying bribes to the police for years, and offers to disclose the names and amounts paid. He wrote a book about it, runs his own talkshow on TV, and even tried to handout a list of corrupt police top-guys to the Prime Minister. Unsurprisingly, Taksin declined...

Corruption in Thailand, connected to the sex trade ? I cannot possibly believe that to be a fact ...

As Freeler mentioned, I think Thailand is clamping down on its nightlife because of the upcoming APEC summit in October. World leaders including Bush will be here.... as well as thousands of journalists, many of who will inevitably bump into some embarassing aspect of the sex trade and diligently report their findings for the world to see.

Very embarassing publicity for the likes of Thaksin I would say, and being Mr.Tough Guy I can easily imagine how he would be handling this.

So a permanent scaling down of the NL industry as some have said may be slightly premature at this stage.

I never used the services the Sanam Luang ladies provide, but I can imagine that the whole thing will work like anywhere in Thailand.
- They will be a close as possible to a cheap hotel
- They will go with you for B150-300+hotel
- Make sure you get clean towels
- Pay after the action, if they don't agree they are on the rag of have another problem they know you won't like.
- 3sums only if you pick the girls separately!!
- Most of them simply luv to have sex!

After a while you will no doubt find that the proces is easy: Find the gal, take her to a room, fuck her gooood, pay and leave:).

Short report - 3 days in BKK

Got in to BKK at 4:30 am and took the taxi to Sukhumvit. It was the cheapest ride I ever had. Only Baht 160 on the meter plus 50. Went to my usual hotel Ruamchitt.

Sunday Aug 10
Tried to get some sleep but only dozed off a few times. Waiting for the MP to open on the 3rd floor. Went outside, but Clinton Plaza is all demolished. Walked up a few sois but breakfast place. Oh well. grabbed a bite on the 8th floor cafe.

10:30 am - 3rd floor here I come. 2 hrs oil massage please. And do you have number 32. Sure enough, she was there. A very good long session, topped off by a BBBJ where she swallowed. Couldn't be more relaxing after the long trip.

1:00 pm - Went around the corner to the barbershop. Got myself a haircut, manicure, pedicure and got the black dye in my hair. Relaxed for a couple of hours.

The TLR is no longer there as the entire Clinton Plaza has been demolished. I heard it is going to be replaced by Sofitel Hotel. It would be good to have a 5 star(?) hotel in the middle of the action.

However, it is more easily available for a 2 hr oil massage (1000 bht) than the 1 hr (600) since the 1 hr is more hurried. You don't get anything in the regular traditional Thai massage.

Having been a monger who has traveled to Thailand, Bangkok and Pattaya 14 times over the past 7 years, I'll do my best to answer. Some opinions may differ but here are mine..................

I do have one questions for you first though. What are you using for a cover on this trip? I have made three trips, of the 14 i have made, with the old family and am always up for a good idea in case I need to venture to Thailand with them again. Last time I used the old Thai language classes, but this only enabled me for partake in date-time mongering. On my second trip I escaped for 4 of the 8 days to Pattaya alone, by convincing my significant other, I was going to a remote cooking school for three days, hehehe and that worked well, until we got back home and she wanted me to show off my "new", Thai cooking skills!

As for food in Thailand, I would say that good food is pretty much everywhere. Fine dinning is vastly available everywhere also. Food is definitely one of the absolute highlights of visiting Thailand. It's great!

I ALWAYS have one or two, sometimes more girls lined up that are non pro! Legitimate dates. Makes for a very interesting trip. I have dated a Doctor, a paralegal, several professionals, countless nurses this way. By doing this I have made many lifelong friendships as well as had many story book type romantic escapades. I do this in-between and around my regular mongering of course! I would say about half will give it up on the first or second date. Nurses are best as they are clean, disease free and know how to please! Try it, you will not go wrong! The women are AWESOME!

A professionally tailored suit comparable at $500-$1000 in the USA will run $90, you can negotiate lower and sometimes pay a bit more in touristy areas. If you know a Thai male friend you can get them made custom fit, beautiful suits for $60-$70! Negotiate for two and you can get them for under $150 for the pair!

Prices are the same 1000 baht for freelancers, 2000 for gogo girls for LT including the bar fines. Depends really, but just about any girls available for services can be had for under 2500 even from professional services and escorts. Freelancers can commonly be had for under 1000, but hey 1000 is CHEAP!

Well, LarryOne, I'm actually probably not the right person to give advice about restaurants in Bangkok -- some other places such as Chiang Mai, maybe, but not Bangkok. I'm generally a big one for excellent dining, and I've done a few really nice places (most of which are rather outside of the general mongering area) but I'll confess that since I'm usually travelling alone, and moving around in the Big Durian can be a headache, I tend to just wander randomly into places where I think I'll find local color as opposed to look for fine cuisine there. Plus, probably because I usually think of Bangkok more as a starting and leaving point than a place I'm actually settling into (even if I'm there for a number of days) I tend to want to get food from street vendors or little local dives so I can either re-acclimate or get my last bit of the experience before I leave. My favorite places are more little fly-by-night dives there where you can get incredible food for 40baht or so. You can find a few of those off Sukhumvit in the Sois, particularly either in the even-numbered ones or to the east near the expressway near some of the ramshackle tin roof shacks, though in the latter area you can often get utter crap if you're not careful.

As far as suits, if I recall correctly Jackson's recommendation is Fashion Avenue not far from Nana. Don't have to do much wearing of them myself, thankfully.

Here we go: here we go: here we go………………………..again. It is becoming a bit of a recurring feature of life in Thailand. The morals police are back at work. It started just about 10 days ago when, following a raid on Nana Plaza, Deputy Interior Minister Pracha Maleenont declared war on obscene shows and striptease at entertainment venues across the country.
In Nana, Pracha saw the show at Hollywood Strip and promptly closed the bar, holding all the staff and customers in the bar for 2 hours for drugs tests.
Mr Pracha said he was not worried that tighter controls on obscene shows would affect tourism. Tourists visiting places providing indecent shows were of low quality and Thailand did not welcome such visitors. ``We do not want them here. They spend little money and look down on Thai women and Thai people,’’
Mr Pracha, when he inspected Nana Plaza, said he found 27 entertainment outlets that were hosting obscene shows.
Mr Pracha said he would also ask the Excise Department to use tax measures to bring traditional massage parlours back into line.
Mr Pracha said some traditional massage establishments were also providing illicit sex services and this could not be allowed. (Courtesy of Bangkok Post - edited).
The next day all Nana owners were summoned by the Lumpini police and told that under no circumstances were girls to show anything. That very night the police raided G Spot and found them showing. A minimum 30-day closure order is envisaged but as this is at least the 2nd time this has happened to G spot it could be worse. If for no other reason than this, a senior Lumpini policeman told Nit, the Crown group boss, to make certain she did not show. Just goes to show the Crown group have replaced one arrogant manager with another arrogant manager! In the meantime the rumour mill has forecast a 60 day closure for Hollywood Strip, this could be particularly problematical as Hollywood 2 is currently being knocked through to make the 2 go-go’s one very big go-go. I foresee a rapid back tracking of this development.
However the message has gone out far and wide. Cowboy and Pattaya have had the same instructions, no showing, with inadequate bikinis also banned.
Down in Patpong the police have warned bars of an impending visit by someone from the Prime Minister’s office. The result is no topless anywhere, no shows, and the doors of go-go’s, leading directly onto the street, must be kept closed.
Deputy Prime minister Purachai has been brought in from the wilderness to lead a crusade against massage parlours and spas, which are not properly licensed and/or providing services outside their brief. The squeaky clean image of the crusading ex-Home office minister is seen as the perfect foil for the revelations about massive police bribes paid by massage parlour boss, Chuwit. Funnily enough the reaction of the average Thai to stories of million Baht payoffs is that they do not believe it. “Too much money!” they say. Little do they know, but when you are earning 5,000 Baht a month it is surreal to think of a single policemen receiving 120,000 Baht per month from one source.
Needless to say all this has got the rumourmongers and speculators into over-active mode. Nevertheless, one thing everybody seems to agree on is that this is not going to disappear over night.
One senior policeman visited Pattaya. He, and his entourage of dozens of cameramen, inspected a couple of go-go’s. Finally he stopped for a coke in one and spoke to the Farang boss apologising with the words “a man has to do what a man has to do!”
So on the basis that nothing happens in this government without the CEO’s blessing it is clear where this is coming from. The question is; what are they really trying to achieve.
The spate of clearly spun stories in Sunday papers about police chasing girls off the street prior to the APEC Summit confirms the main believed reason for this to be happening now. Not so much because they fear that Dubbya may slip on a used condom on his morning jog, but because of the hoard of international press who will arrive to cover the meeting. Unfortunately it is bad news that they will be looking for: well what ever is bad news in their eyes. Naked teenage go-go dancers a few yards from the world’s leaders would make such a story! Or think of any of a dozen scenarios that could happen. So the Thai government is determined this will not happen. I can well imagine that entertainment areas could be closed during this period; in fact it may be a shrewd move to close and avoid any possible problems!
There are already warnings of traffic gridlock as the VIPs are convoyed around town and government workers will be given time off, so as to reduce the number of cars coming into the city. The Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation council leaders summit is October 20/21, however there is a ministers’ meeting 17/18, so I would think 14 – 23 October are good days to be nowhere near Bangkok.
There is another reason for the crackdown and that is the farang sex scene is a prime target for a right wing government, concerned about Thailand’s image, and all Thais resent the notion that Bangkok, and Thailand, is the sex capital of the world. Regardless of what it brings into the economy the Thai’s simply do not want it.
It has been estimated that farang sex tourists may contribute as much as 2% to GDP (Guns, Girls, Gambling and Ganja: Thailand's Illegal Economy and Public Policy - Silkworm Books). So, as the Thai economy is strong, as the CEO keeps telling us, we can therefore all b_____r off. Maybe he means it, but more likely he wants it a great deal lower in profile.
I think what is over looked are the number of people who come for one thing, but then stay and do something else. As an associate put it, in his wife’s bit of Issan, a collection of villages, there are eight large houses, all built by farangs. These are not in the 2% figure, nor are many such similar situations. In any event the feeling is that the likes of Nana Plaza will not actually be closed, they will be starved by regulation and eventually taxation. How effective that will be, remains to be seen; however as I explain below, ironically the squeeze could actually help the go-go’s survive.
Despite Pracha’s insinuation that sex tourists spend little money, most of us know that not to be true, although I suspect that virtually none of that money is touched, or should I say taxed, by the government. The government is looking for additional revenues to fund its many programmes. Prostitution has been mentioned as a possible source of extra revenues. It goes with gambling. Legalised, it could pay a lot of tax. Part of Purachai’s brief is to make certain massage parlours are paying the tax they should. I see a move afoot to look for tax from operators, probably by allowing certain situations so the police tax does not have to be paid! One person even suggested there was a plan to put a tax official in every nightlife business. That would probably ensure that a lot of tax officials get rich, I am not so sure how much tax income it would generate.
The most interesting point is that all go-go owners I have spoken to are not worried about the cover up order. That is, as long as ALL go-go’s have to cover up. The words “level playing field” keep coming up. Providing no one go-go can show and all others cannot, they are happy. That was the complaint in Nana Plaza when Bottoms Up (now Pretty Lady) got away with nudity and nowhere else was even allowed to be topless. This will help owners, as they will not have to pay extra to the girls for showing. There is normally a difference of 2,000 Baht for topless and another 2,000 Baht for nude. So not paying 4,000 Baht per dancer is a real saving. As one manager put it “It may make the girls do some work, rather than just living off their salary!” Hence my comments about this helping go-go’s survive.
The new problem for owners trying to circumvent the ban is that the police are employing farangs, with cameras, to visit go-go’s and report infringements. It is believed the G Spot bust was made after a farang in the crowd e-mailed a picture from his phone/camera back to waiting police. Later that night another go-go owner caught a farang with a lens on his waist, presumably filming what was happening. The guy refused to hand over the film and the police were called, but prevaricated, and the man was allowed to go. This once again raises the question of what to do about phone cameras and miniature cameras. It seems to me that sooner or later something will have to done about them. Because it must be remembered that whilst local police may come to an agreement for showing, which ensures they turn a blind eye, busts are normally carried out by the National Police. In the past the local police knew of such a visit and a cover up order would go out. Now farang informers can visit and photograph what is happening. Their evidence will then be used and the local police by-passed. Some owners now believe that any showing will be off the cards for a long time because the local police can no longer protect them!
On the question of Thailand’s reputation, it occurred to me that Thailand has globalised two products: The Thai restaurant and the Thai massage. Regrettably, for those trying to change the Thai image, they need to eliminate all those massage parlours around Europe. The sign Thai massage is synonymous with massage and much more. Or as those charming girls outside the Pink Lady in Chaweng main street say “Massage and boom boom!”

AMPM -- you can generally tell taxi drivers things like "Nana Plaza" or "Soi Cowboy" or "Patpong" and they will understand, but if you're going to name specific clubs or bars they'll usually not get it. If you're going outside those three or a very major hotel, you're better off giving a general street address such as "Sukhumvit Soi 7" or the like.

Tips: Find the street adress of the places you want to go.
*NEVER* tell the driver the name of the SPOT. Instead name a nearby hotel, resturaunt, shop. (Worth the extra work.)

Most cabbies try to earn an extra living working as touts, shills, etc. They will lie to you (oh, place closed; I know a better place..)l or collect a "finders fee" for bringing you to a named place. This finders fee usually results in higher charges for you at your desitination. Sometimes these suggestions will result in an operating scam (TAT scams are the most prevalent); or I've recently read in a strongarm style robbery!

Always be aware of your surroundings, and where you are going. (I very rarely needed a taxi, as I would either hoof it, ride the skytrain, or let the girl I chose take me back on a moped... ;)

I agree with others about the best form of transportation in BKK being the skytrain (BTS). However, the BTS has a limited route and only runs until midnight.

When using a taxi I always tell them where I want to go and mention the word "meter" before I get on. I learned from the girls to always flag one going by rather than take one from the queue. The ones waiting usally don't want to use the meter.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, let them take you to a place they recomend. They are getting a comission that will be added to your tap.

This is my report for my 3 days experience in Bangkok this month.

Following this forum's advice and other friend's recommendations, I tested the following places always after 6 p.m. :

CP2: al least 80 girls, no more than 10 very nice - price 1850 thb for 2h and 2 shots with a beautiful new girl - best quality/price ratio - complete satisfaction so I gave a 500 thb tip !!!

Cupidy (Ent.Plaza): at least 30 superstars girsl and 40 "normal" girls - all the superstars are very very nice for 2500 thb - I choose 2 superstars for a "sandwich" paying 5000 bath for 2h - wonderful bodies and pretty good experience - however NO complete satisfaction since my expectations were higher - maybe a sandwich with 2 new girls should be better.

Well, not totally pleased with the GP. Asked for quiet room. Got corner room next to Soi 11. Moderately noisy.

Asked for remodeled room. If I'm in one, then none of them have been remodeled in awhile.

I'm staying a bit under a month, and negotiated a 7500 baht a week rate. I had to hammer hard to get that price. You can probably get 8000 or 8500 without too much of a problem.

Hey, GT, I thought you were independently wealthy. Why not tried the Oriental, or other luxury hotel?

bangkok, thailand -- thailand's culture ministry has issued a list of 18 love songs -- including "big flabby buttocks" -- which it wants to ban as part of a campaign against music it says could encourage promiscuity or marital infidelity.

the list was compiled by the ministry's culture watch center and includes songs which contain "improper" content or are offensive to "public decency," the nation newspaper reported friday.

songs on the list include several by two of thailand's best-known artists and one song that was released two decades ago but has only just come to the attention of the moral guardians, the nation said.

lyrics that have upset ministry officials include:

"i know you have a wife, i've got used to that and i don't care."

"let them gossip, i don't care, i don't want to fight with her, you are married, yet so tempting."

and

"my blue-blooded sweetheart, you don't care about morals, always acting like western stars do."

'protecting society'
the ministry says it wants state-run radio and television to stop using all the songs on the list.

announcing the list thursday, mr chakrarot chitrabongs, permanent secretary to the culture ministry, said he did not think the ban was in any way an infringement of individual rights.

instead, allowing such songs to be played on air could be construed as violating the rights of people who disliked them, the nation quoted him as saying.

rather than being overly conservative, he said the agency was simply doing its job preventing negative changes to thai society.

aside from "big flabby buttocks" ("tai aon yaon"), songs featured on the ministry's blacklist include such titles as "secret lover" ("choo tang jai"), "one woman, two men" ("nueng ying, song chai") and "i know that, but i still love you" ("tang roo koh rak").

"there's nothing immoral or provocative," he added, saying he planned to explain his case to culture ministry officials.

another thai celebrity, singer-actress sinjai plengpanich, told the nation the songs on the list merely reflected real society and would not actually encourage listeners to do indecent things.

Some of you continue to demonstrate just how juvenile and quick to judge you are. I guess all the aging fat surrounding your brain has finally clogged your thought process for good!
If you're so inclined to read all my posts you will see I almost always rent TWO hotel room while in Thailand. Even when staying in Pattaya I always reserve two rooms. One in the thick of things and one far away and more relaxed! One for mongering and one for laying my head at night to sleep! I do this for many reasons.

1. If I get a clingy TG who is all luvy dubby, I can easily escape.
2. I often travel with business companions, who might not except my "little secret hobby" as well as the ole family

If you must know, one's interpretation of what independently wealthy is may vary. Some might view an image of Bill Gates. For myself it consist of owning my home free and clear, my automobiles free and clear, being debt free, AND a residual income from real-estate investments that comes in no matter where in the world I reside of $8800-$9600 per month! My point for that statement was merely to point out how I am able to spend so much extensive time in Thailand and not have to worry about money. I typically stay at the Banyan Tree but always have rented a room at the Ambassador for my escapades. I don't care at all anymore for the Ambassador as the deal with the bug spray. On my last trip I actually ended up sleeping there for two of the nights and a roach landed on my chest at 3am. I was merely looking for another play hotel in the thick of the action. When dating college girls from Bangkok, assuming I am not on business where comrades might spot me, I take them back with me to the Banyan Tree. Is that what you all want this board to become? My posts were in reference to what others had said, responding, and you mongers are taking it like I just blatantly posted my rantings out in thin air. After a dreadful week LarryOne is now almost in the LOS. The flight to LOS is often referred to as the necessary evil it takes to reward one's self with such pleasures to be found there. It is truly a brutal experience. 14-15 hour first flight, followed by a 2-3 hour layover and then another 3 hours of flying. Not to mention you most likely had to leave the states between, 12 midnight and 3 AM, so you were down a nights sleep upon just leaving. But if you're like me, even feeling as awful as you do from all of this, somehow, someway a smile still emerges on your face! Because you know what is in store for you over the coming weeks or months!

I am very interested in this shower massage thing at the airport I assume? Please tell me where and how? Is this service available in Hong Kong, or just Seoul? Do you have to travel outside the airport grounds for this? A shower and massage before departing on the second leg would be priceless, IMO.

Will cost you about $8 for a shower at the airport. My advice is to go into the private airport handicapped bathroom and shut the door. You can wash your hair, arms, legs, and ass for free in private in a large washroom all by yourself. Save your money for some honey.

There are shower rooms availabe at Narita $3 for 30 mins. The rooms are tiny but are very clean and they provide clean towels and liquid soap.

Great to freshen up before the flight to BKK. This is a must if you arrive in BKK after 11pm and you want to squeze some activity that night.
