Hi everyone, I am off to Phuket in October. Anyone else planning to be there late october/early november?

Also, a big hello to nokna, currently enjoying the delights of Phuket for the next few weeks. How are you doing?

I'll be in Phuket the first week of July (my first trip there)- what I've learned so far is Christen's is a great place to go and ask the hotel about bringing girls to your room.

Anyone stayed at the Phuket Cabana?

Also, what is the going rate for long time (over night?) and where is a good place to find the l/t girls?

Thanks.

Hey Jonnie2010,

Am also planning a trip to LOS in Oct/ Nov incorporating a few days in Phuket & Koh Samui. My plan is to hit BKK first for a few days and then take an overnite sleeper down to Samui / Phuket ( saves you the cost of booking a hotel for the nite ).
Let me know if you're interested in hooking up or looking for a travelling partner. Obviously, I want to do plenty of mongering but also combine it with more traditional tourist pursuits !!
cheers,
C

Hey man the girls are everywhere in Phuket. On the beach during the days (afternoons, as they sleep all morning) & in the bars at night. A hag approached me on the beach while I was watching the sunset. She offered me a BJ, but man she was way too ugly to accept.
The whole place is full of bars in addition to Sharks Disco where you can score easily, and you haggle your own price. In December I discovered a real beauty in a bar in Karon Beach. She claimed she didn’t do the sex thing but was just working at the bar as a front girl to bring in the customers. I couldn’t resist her, took her out for a meal, and negotiated the price for a fuck. In the end I had to fork out Bt2,000, the most I have ever paid for a fuck, but it was so good I took her again 2 days later and got a discount Bt 1500 this time! Every ***** has her price!

Buck,

When will you be in Phucket? I am planning my first trip to LOS and planned on 3 days in Phuket. I will be there August 22. I havent seen much current information and want to get an idea of where to go and what is open. I have read most of the reports but it seems that things change on a daily basis. I read today on the Phuket Gazette about 3 bars being closed for having girls under 20.

Phoenix I'm going a few days earlier than you. phuket is a little more lay back than bkk.
There are some good bars to visit . Soi Sea Dragon has some good ones and Freelancers are good value in either of the Discos Shark or Banana.Although I'm still not sure that the Shark has reopened yet.? Let us know someone if it has! Hope it has.I'll be there on the 12th and 4days will be enough to sample the talent. There are some smaller bars with girls some nice and they are worth trying as well.. near the Bayshore for example.Lets have some updates re hot spots for phuket from recent travellers.. Come on you guys lets stick together.

Hey Buck,

Where will you staying? I'm going to be in Phuket from August 9th-18th. Patong, obviously.

Still scoping hotels, since the low-season prices are great, but having trouble getting replies from some of them about their girl policy.

I'm looking at the Orchid Residence since it was recommended on this forum and they answered my e-mail, stating that they were girl-friendly, and 780baht a night for a delux room is a good deal in my mind.

But a little worried about how safe it is.. leaving shit in the room and such because there are no inroom safes.

Anyhow, we should meet up for a drink or something.

Cheers.

Lighter. From my last trip if they don't reply they are definitely not girl friendly. The Patong Bayshore is also a good hotel definitely friendly but about 7 minutes walk from Bangla and the action .Might be that it has more security than the Orchid. There are some good smaller bars near the Bayshore that have the odd cutie. I got friendly with the mamasan( Monee is her name ) of the Monee bar and she's good fun as well as introducing the right girls.Good place to be to relax.
I'll be there on the 13th for 4 days . Drink sounds good.

Hi everybody,

I know the WSGuide for several years and it has been helpfull on its time for different places.
I am used to travel to Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau and I am quiet familiar now with these scenes. One day I will take the time to put a report about them.

Here is my situation :
I plan to come for the first time to Thailand from 4 of aug untill 10 or 11. I will come from Hong Kong meaby with one of my good chinese friend. He would like to stay in Phuket for the week.
Regarding the weather in August I am just wondering if we can really take benefit to stay in Phuket. And I guess Bangkok offers also more hot places and girls than Phuket.

So what would you suggest to me ?
1)stay all the week in Phuket (because we will still have good time there about sun & girls point ot view)
2)stay all the week in Bangkok because definitely it is the place to be
3)share half and half

I am reading all the forums about Thailand to pick up some informations but if you have any good pieces of advice for hotels, massage clubs, go-go bars, karaoke clubs, discos, restaurants, places to visit, relationships with thai girls, things to do, etc... I would appreciate very much your time and effort to answer here or on my email : amateur_ef@yahoo.fr

Thanks

Freeler/others,
I would like anyone's advice on a nice hotel in the Patong area that has a safe in the room, girl-friendly etc..I read the posts below about the "Orchid" and "Bayshore" which both look nice. Any leads on any other hotels? Also, what options to getting to Phuket from Bkk? It seems a daunting task looking at all the hotels on the net......so many places! Anyways, enough babbling, I'll be in Thailand for 1 month commencing August 28th~! Count down has begun! Full report(s) upon touchdown. Thanks for any advice/tips.

Freeler,
Thanks for the post. I'm still figuring out if I should fly or bus it depending I guess on time/cost. Any reliable travel agent places in BKK that can book a return flight once in BKK? (I assume a hotel will charge more than a travel agent?!) Will venture to Phi Phi island too since it's fairly close by. I understand nightlife there (phi phi) is close to non-extistant? Anyways, I'm looking to un-wind. Happy trails! Where are you "based"?

Freeler,
A unionist eh?....haha..wonder where that is! That's a good tip about flying to Phuket (going to the terminal and buying it there). I'm planning 3 days in Bkk, 4 nights or so in Phuket, another 4 on Phi Phi, then back to Bkk. From there, onto Samui for a week, then over to Pattaya for some raunchyness. That kills almost 3 weeks.....with over a 1 week left. Maybe I'll like Phuket and stay longer? I've been to Thailand b4, but only BKK, and Pattaya, so this time I really want to hit the islands and to "relax". Thanks for all your tips, if you're in BKK, maybe we can have a drink? Take care.

Freeler,

Thanks for your advice/tips. Slightly confused now (haha) as to which way to go! Point well taken about Phi Phi island. Doing more research and will let you know. I'll you know whatever way I decide. I'll probably ask another ? later! hehe.
Take care.

Caligula,

Hi sorry I did not get back to you earlier, only noticed your post today. Sure it could be fun to meet up in Patong. This is where I shall spend most of my time, as apart from girls, I plan to do some scuba diving. I may spend a few days in BKK on my way back home though. Don't know much about the scene in BKK as yet though. You can email me at clocker2010@aol.com if you fancy having a chat about your plans etc.

Cheers,

Chikan,

Sounds like Freeler is giving you good advise.

Just one thing Freeler. Where air tickets only are concerned, I have found the travel agents right across from Nana Plaza to be cheaper than the ticket counter of the airlines. So, if Chikan is planning on a couple days in BKK anyway....

I also agree about Phi phi. A longer stay in Phuket might be called for, I love the place. Probably won't be able to get over there until March.

Later dudes,

OK. What is the scene like in Phuket at the mo? Well I can only speak for Patong, as on my first jaunt to Thailand, that is where I landed for the weekend.

Shark Bar has NOT reopened, and from what I saw, it is very quiet in Patong right now, which I suggest means that it is a buyers market! :-)

In the bars, there are the whole range to choose from the beautiful, petite, sweet and acting innocent to the outrageous, and I have to add, not so beautiful!!
Each bar....and there are SO many seem to have about 5-10 girls free at any time.

Needless to say during the time I had there, I was able to have a fine time every day/night. Most of the girls, even the ones in the Go-Go bars seem to be asking for about 1500bht for Long Time (No idea on the short??) though if you "shop" around the bars you might get lucky for 1000bht! bar fines were 200bht in the bars, and 500bht in the go-go's.

I went to three go-go bars: SchoolGirl, flash and pink panther.
School girl had plenty of stimulating hostesses many very nice indeed though the dancing was tame?. Flash was the best....good atmosphere, nice girls and sexy dancing. Pink was (IMHO) dreadful. Bored looking girls not particularly attractive, though for interest alone, there was one who did a fascinating dance with a Cigar, a full bottle of Coke and a squeeky toy???

I think I might be revisiting in a month or so, so lets keep the updates, up-to-date!

Hi All!

Yes, I wonder how the Phuket general situation is in August, also about weather :->

I'm afraid that many nice girls leave Phuket and go back home for a while because of the shortage of tourists.

And if some of you can recommend me another place in Thailand which is good to go to in August.

Bye!

Pattaya is good. Rains too much in Phuket in august, at least that is what I am told. I will be in Pattaya middle of this month.

In Pattaya it´s easy to find a decent hotel for under 400 bath. Like Day & night hotel with TV,Bathtub and AC for 350 bath.

Anyone knews a cheep hotel with simular standard i Patong?

FREELER: u wrote that ;
"Many of these girls in fact are farmgirls. They go back home this time of year to plant rice...
I heard several times( eg from different sources) that farmers don't pay taxes.
Sounds a good enough reason to me to plant some rice once a year!"

where is possbile to know some of this girls?
generally speaking is it difficult to fuck thai girls that dont work in gogo bars and do do it for the money ?

So I'm in Phuket.. been here one night...

Few things... since everyone asks.. Shark Disco is still closed... which is strange since its advertised everywhere... its on all the promotional stuff etc.

Its rather busy.. considering its low season... lot of Koreans and Japanese since August is their travel high season.

Hit all the Soi's on Bangla (Eric, Easy etc).. except Crocodile was tired from my 14 hours of travelling and didn't feel like fending off katooeys.

Anyway, the boy-girl ratio is really good in the beer bars, I didn't hit any go-go's yet (will tonight), but the quality of the girls is fairly low... and they are REALLY grabby.. I was so tired and strung out I got suckered into drinking with a couple I had no interest in.

I finally bar-fined this one girl, which was a waste of money. She was really eager etc in the bar, but once it came down to it, she was all rush-rush.. UNTIL I was finished... I was paying her ST and she wanted to stay in my room for the night. I couldn't believe it. She's like 'let me sleep for bit'.. it took some major urging to get her to leave without me having to be mean. BTW, I paid 1000 + 200 bf.. she was 1500 for LT.. glad I didn't.. what a waste. But I chock it up to travel fatigue.. today I am well rested and well fed. So this afternoon I will likely hit Christin's for a massage then some go-go's tonight. BTW, every single one of the bargirls I spoke too last night were from Isaan. There was one who was really friendly and didn't pressure me for drinks or BF but I passed on her because while she was quite cute she didn't match what I was looking for last night. Also.. because the traffic is so low, the girls are being really protective... I had to take a [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) and the one I was talking to held my hand to the toilet, waiting for me outside then guided me back to her bar.

Another thing... when I first arrived, all I wanted to was go down to the beach, sit down, watch the waves and relax. This is about 9:30.. well, if you go to the beach alone at night, you won't be able to relax.. I was constantly harassed by free-lancers who either "wanted to talk" or offered "good sucky". And they're just as insistent as bar girls. "why you hear alone you don't want suck?"

Anyhow, off to the beach.

Just arrived back from phuket a little quiet but good stock still available
found the 'Rock Hard' girls very aggressive in seeking 3000 LT.I managed to bar fine a real cutie she accepted 1500. excellent performance and service all round.
The Bar fine was 600 and the mamasan had instructed the girls particularly in 'Smokin Joe's 'to get 3000 or else.
Found this a bit of a pain in the ass. Be on the ball and stick to your guns.
Bars were good fun and lots of freelancers to be had at the 3 main discos

sorry about the mistake with the previous post.
first time i've been back to this forum for a few months and the new layout has confused me.

well anyway i'm back.

was last there in may/june and had a wicked time.
pink panther has certainly gone downhill, but that is due to the ousting of the old owner, harald, and the new thai ownership.

soi seadragon is a good place to hang out during the day, many girls from midday.
if you know where to go.

rockhard is still the best go-go and i've never been hit for 3000.
many friends in there and i had a good time whenever i visited and made more friends and enjoyed the company of the sister of the first thai girl i ever fell in love with.

flash is now crap.

soi eric is a good place to spend a couple of hours and my friend, danny runs a good bar in english bar and i enjoyed 5 of his girls.

have many stories i could tell, good and bad.

love the place.

i agree with nokna (is that you, chris?). phuket is great. pity that pp has gone downhill, but i still prefer the beer bars. and scuba diving in the day rather than muff diving! with the wonderful beaches and [CodeWord117] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord117) it isn't really directly comparable with other places in los.

patong beach may be a bit over-priced compared with some parts of bkk. last time there i had 2 girlfriends in cowboy, drinking tequila like it was going out of fashion at 100 baht a shot, and they wanted 2000 baht per day full time each (!!!), plus 400 baht bar fine per day each, and the goddamned tequila and food bill besides. but 3 days of 2 girls in the same bed is kind of intoxicating, the sandwich/lesbo job is a pain at first, but keep persevering, get over the (other peoples') inhibitions, and it is real fun.

visitors should spend a while looking around in patong and getting to know some of the people, it is a great place. friendly, safe and accommodating. and there are very few russians at present, unlike pattayagrad. and you can probably get 2 non-tequila addicts in bed far cheaper in hkt than i managed in bkk (they were after all cousins of the thai wife of a friend, almost my own isaan family, so i was anyway obliged to pay the bills, shagging or not!). though i know from experience that after a 20 hour journey most people don't have a trip to macdonalds on their minds that first evening.

i'd also like to know where the tiger bar is, kojack. there is a place behind muay thai with some sort of fibre-glass giant tiger's head entrance, never went in there (anyone know it?), but i also heard there is a new small place. on top of ocean plaza may be right, anyone know?

soi sea dragon is also my favourite haunt, but only because i have tended to make friends there and so keep on going back (with no regrets over 3 years so far, touch wood!). the fff approach is fine for some, but i kind of like the thai gfe.

hope to be back in hkt in november - screw the northern winter! back to warm thai muff.

Tiger Disco is actually quite a cool place. It's just west of the Muay Thai place. (toward the beach) You have to go upstairs to the second floor of that new open air plaza with the bars that look like trees. 100B to get in which includes your first drink. The bit that attracts me to Tiger is the upper level where you can sit undisturbed (mostly) and just watch the action. It just has a texture about it that's just unique. Good sound system too.

BTW, a little investigation revealed that the Shark is never going to reopen. I guess the owner pissed-off someone in power. And since it closed, Tiger has opened and Tai Pan has expanded a lot, putting a little more pressure on not reopening Shark. Business in Thailand is bizarre.

Toy Boy
09-20-02, 19:52
Thanks for the info on Tiger, Saphaan.

What is the girlie action like in Tiger? Lots of freelancers? Shark was very good for that but the noise level and general pollution was just too much. How busy is it?

BTW, I was told that the land Shark is built on belongs to the Sukothai family, v. rich (as does the Sukothai hotel next door). The betting was that Khun Sukothai would have a quiet word in Thaksin's ear next time they played golf together and, lo and behold, Shark would be open again.

Seems like it may be Khun Sukothai himself who has pissed off the government? The place was making huge money, hard to believe that it would stay closed unless someone high up has got their claws into the owners.

Saphaan

Tiger has plenty of freelancers, of course. Plenty. But, somehow it doesn't feel like a "market" as much as some other places. It could be that having to buy your first drink on the way in (B100) just cuts down the quantity of FL TG's; not that quantity is ever an issue. I was there about two weeks ago, low season to be sure, and the place was packed all night, every night. Not uncomfortable, just packed. Come to think of it, I did pick up a couple of cuties there.

On noise level, I think that a good sound system helps a lot. It's loud of course, but not as "noisy" as most of the beer bars. I was able to converse with friends and new acquaintances without great effort, and without being hoarse or deaf the next morning.

I have sensitive ears, and intend to keep them that way, so I use earplugs. If you get the little flesh colored spongy ones, and tear them in half, they're virtually invisible. It makes hearing conversations a lot easier, but I suppose it takes a little time to get comfortable with them.

Tiger is clean too, the seats, tables, bar, toilets, even the air, due to a high ceiling and decent circulation. There’s lots of staff running around tidying up and such. Is that what you meant by general pollution? It’s also very new, which helps. Every ten minutes or so they turn all the lights up full blast for about 1 second. Gives you a quick daylight view of your company. Nice touch.

As for exactly who pissed off whom, there's only so much a falang needs to know. :) I know that I never want to own or run a business of any kind in Thailand. It took long enough to learn the rules for east/west coast US, various places in Europe, and Japan. I'm done. I will, however, keep an ear open for more info on those families, now that you've thrown the names out.

Another cool place that doesn’t get mentioned much is Galaxy. The place is huge, and always full, but I think it’s mostly a Thai crowd. It’s just next to Tai Pan, on the soi with the V-plaza and the giant bungee ball of death. Anyone know the place?

nokna, did you buy the video? I sat down ot the base of that thing with a beer one night just watching the monitor. I guess there's a camera and mic on board the ball. funniest damn thing ever. hi saphaan, nokna, tiger sounds like a good place. i never went into galaxy. i also never did the bungee-ball thing. man, i am sooo boring! but a guy slightly smaller than myself was still heavy enough to break the elastic on a charity bungee jump in a car park back home recently and ended up dead meat. your mention of

"the shower of little bits of rubber everytime they launched that thing"

does not fill me with confidence. i'll avoid it, thanks.

how's valhalla doing? the last time i tried there was way back in february and it was closed, something about **** girls, but the rumoour was that the owner had pissed off a thai and he had sent in the police and shut the place down.

as far as owning a place goes, i know quite a few people in thailand and the philippines who get by ok. they just pay off the police and the local mafia as necessary, and mostly seem to live a quiet but pleasant existence. deep shit happens if you cross a well-connected local, or nowadays from what i hear in pattaya at least, if the russians decide they want your turf.

it still attracts me. maybe not a brothel, but a bar or small guesthouse perhaps.

I will be entertaining some picky Korean businessman type guys in the October-November timeframe. They want to go to a very “upscale” girlie bar. What they are used to in Korea is of course Room Salons and Karioke bars and “hostess” bars, where the girls are extraordinarily beautiful, etc.

They are used to paying too much in Korea, so I suppose that the sky is the limit.

Are there any clean, quiet, upscale hostess bars in Phuket?

freeler,

thanks for the advice.

having spent much of the last 25 years roaming africa and se asia i am aware of many of the pros and cons of business in the third world. hell, i nearly bought a share in a hotel in lagos! (breathes sigh of relief and wipes sweat from brow)

i would never consider setting up a business on my own, but there are always expats around who are happy to guide you to a friendly lawyer and explain the ropes. like the rules with thai wives, marry 'em in their village for the family's sake but don't register the wedding otherwise the wife can't own the sort of property you want. that kind of trick.

personally i find the philippines the most attractive scenario long term, especially cebu and mactan island. lots of brit and aussie run places there, plus a pile of german places as usual in rp. but short-term i am still looking at los due to the infinitely larger tourist market. find a niche…..

but who knows? in scotland i was scraping ice off the goddamn car this morning. as you say, who needs to work, i'll just continue emptying the glasses for now.

i have herd from well conceted expats in phuket, that the shark club was closed by local goverment since it was to sucsessfull, some local thai did not like that a farang from canada to have such a sucsessfull place. the owner did make a profit in the range of 70-80 million bhat a year. they send in police, and the police suposely found drugs, **** girls, prostitution etc. "all the fun" in thailand. the goverment want as well reduce the numbers of "beer"bars, the girlie scene. the plan is to turn phuket in to a more family friendly, uposcale resourt area. you can see this as well from some of the new vacation home developments on the island with houses in the pricerang 1-2,5 million usd. so the pzartyplace phuket is maybe disipering. this is policy from bangkok. they hyave big plns about this development.

Question bout Phuket, Is it illegal to have sex in public? Say if I'm at the beach and I get solicited?

on a side note anybody know where I can get the bus to Hat Yai from the beach area. I'll be around the Holiday Inn?

Frog
10-13-02, 19:13
dlite_me: I don't think sex in public is legal as long as topless sun-bathing for woman is unwillingly seen. In Patong beach at night you can watch hookers (most of them are ladyboys) offering their service at the beachfront on the same benches used by sun-bathing tourist during daytime.
I never tried...

Howdy guys,

dlite_me,

Public sex is definately illegal. But you'd probably get off with a stiff fine, so to speak.

Have any of you guys stayed at either the "Kata Beach Resort" or "Kata Delight Villas" ? Considering a dive vacation in May.

rabagast,

They've been talking about a "clean up" for at least a decade (probably longer). I wouldn't worry too much.

Hey guys,

What I found good in Phuket was just picking up a local chick off the side of the road. After doing the rounds of the bars and clubs a few times I just asked women hanging about if they wanted to come back to the hotel and the answer was always yes. I think the girls wandering around at 2 and 3 in the morning are all part timers but still nice girls to be found. Never paid more than 1000 Baht and that was with no bargaining skills sober and even less at that time of the night after drinking Singha all night. A good place to go also is a small bar called Ned Kellys, run by a guy from the states, friendly place, nice girls. If you get there on the owners birthday (as me and a mate did) you leave pissed as without spending a cent. Have a good one!.

Thanks guys,

I'll wait and bring em to the hotel.

I'm staying at the Expat Hotel, is it girl friendly? I booked for two adults already, even though I will check in myself.

Anybody know where to get the bus or shuttle from patong beach to Hat Yai? I want to get the train to KL from there.

First time posting here as I have been living in Korea (what a mistake!) Will possibly be in Penang MY next week and looking to cross over to Thailand and Phuket. Is it easily accessible? Not necessarily a day trip but a weekend stay but don't want to waste all day in travel. Thanks for the heads up. Also, coming from Korea, is Malaysia equally biased against Westerners as I have been seeing in the posts??

Seoulmac,

Tourist are always welcome in Malaysia anytime........
Penang to Hatyai, Thailand around 3 hrs by road.
From Hatyai you can go by air to Phuket which is cheaper if you get your plane ticket there.

How is scuba diving in the area? Other fun things to do?

dlite_me,

Expat is definately "girl friendly", but not the best deal in town. Why not book for a few days then search out a better spot for the remainder ?

Sultan,

Almost every place is girl friendly, unless you are staying at the "upper class' resort type places.

The diving is great. You are getting there after the rainy season and the vis is getting good. If you have time, and money, get out to the Similan Islands.

I may be in town at the same time Dec. 11th to 19th. A beer or two will get you all the insight I have, which isn't a lot !!!

Fantasea Divers are one of Phukets oldest and best dive operators.

To all: the site: phuket.com has a lot of good info, especially on hotels.

.but I'll only be at the expat from the 22nd to 24th only.....then off to Singapore by train...I wanna sample the delights in Hat yai and Singapore too...but have to cut out Malaysia. Then I'm back at the Patong Street Inn til the 3rd.

How's the Patong Street Inn??

By they way guys..if you are looking for western girls to bang...there will be alot of English teachers in Phuket from the 22nd to the 3rd. Alot of them are from the states. Some from New Zealand. In the group I'm going with...there are at least 4 girls looking for guys.......they are not ugly...but they work in Japan...thus they are starving for some Farangs.

By the way I have the asian fever....so western girls don't appeal to me so much.

We had taken a bus from Bangkok and ended up meeting with a tour operator in Phuket. We ended up booking some very resonable hotels, tours and a return trip.

If i find his email or phone number, I will post it.

Having been to Phuket a few times, I felt the quality of accomodation and level of service was great., especially using my credit card without a problem.

In the future i know I can just email him ahead of time and he can arrange pickup in Bangkok or from the Phuket airport

He was also able to arrange minibus from Bangkok to Pattaya for far less than we had ever paid.

Take a minibus to Bangkok and fly., otherwise there is a Ferry that goes from Pattaya to Phuket.

You can also take the train. But a VIP bus (like a greyhound) is maybe safest cleanest and cheapest

A VIP bus is cheaper than a minibus

Based on time and $., I would suggest just choosing Pattaya or Phuket. Not sure what you can really get hitting both, unless you never plan to go back. They are different, but not that much to warrant $30-$200 in transportation costs and 6-24 hours (similar getting back to Bangkok) transit to hit both beyond hotel costs.

Hey Prog,

I assume that you saw my other post on this route.

These guys don't know that you're rolling in bucks ! So Freelers Option #1 would probably be the best for you, if you decide against the adventurous route of ferrying to Hua Hin. Freeler is also right that there is no ferry from Pattaya to Phuket. You would have to circumnavigate the entire Malay penninsula !

I must also strongly disagree (repectfully) with Mr. Bean on any similarities between Pattaya and Phuket. A world of difference in my book. Email me if you'd like details.

Sorry Dlite,

I agree they are different, but lets say you only have one week .., If it was just girls., go to Pattaya and close out in Bangkok before your trip home. (or some order there) If you find more time and have the $., then go to Phuket. I really like Phuket, which tody is my first choice; but more for beaches, diving and I find it a bit cleaner. Just myHO. Do what you feel moves you, since I am sure anyone can enjoy Thaialnd.

Flying is the most efficient way to go.
Should be under $180 and you can buy it online at United.com for Thai Airways.

I never took the boat, but a friend took it from either Crabi or some other island out to some point near Pattaya

If $ isn't an issue, I suppose I would be in Amsterdam or Rio. (amsterdam is cold now though) For the hobby, Thailand is certainly Unique

Oh, bring your own condoms because the most common found in Thai 7-11s are small and very tight.

All,

Thanks for your inputs. I've had lots of fun in Pattaya but I definitely don't want to make it my destination for the New Years. My plan is to land in Bangkok very early on Christmas day. I then will head straight to Pattaya and will stay there 12/25 - 12/28. I’m then off to Phuket until January 2. From there I'm going to party in the Philippines until the 10th. I will then finish off my trip with 2 nights in Bangkok. Freeler gave me some great directions from Pattaya to Phuket (THANKS).

Gentlemen

I hate to break this news because I especially have enjoyed Phuket several times, but as reported in the Friday edition of the Daily Yomiuri Newspaper (English Yomiuri Shimbum) from Reuters, the Danish Foreign Ministry issued a warning of possible terrorist attacks in Phuket based on intelligence information. They singled out Patong.
I have spent most of my Phuket time on Karon Beach and ran across a lot of Scandanavian tourists there, so I think the Danish government is out to protect their own citizens.

Toy Boy

I saw the story in this morning's BK Post about terrorist threats to Phuket.

Quoting www.denmark.dk (Danish govt website) it said that the whole island is under threat, but especially Patong.

I checked the Danish website but couldn't find the item mentioned.

Reaction from Phuket govt officials: "this is the safest island in the world, nothing could happen here".

Um, sorry, I thought that Bali was the safest, gentlest island in the world......

Everyone knows how porous the Thai coastline is. Phuket is no safer than Bali was.

It's not going to stop my impending visit. But I do advise people to be on the lookout (difficult I know when a girl has her hand down your pants or you've just guzzled a dozen Singhas).

I've seen Arabs in Patong. Would this be a deterrent to bombing the place? Maybe if the Arabs disappear it would be a bad sign (inside knowledge)?

Check out EDEN in Bangkok. I was just with a pair of girls there tha told me that they have customers that take them to Phuket from time to time. And believe you me, they will do anything you ask and then some. Other than that your best bet is to go to one of the Go Go houses and pick a girl you like and make a deal with them. Need Advice:

Fisrt time to Thailand so I've never BF a girl before...If I want to BF a waitress, I should just talk to her and negotiate directly, right??

If I want to BF a dancer, I have to wait til she finishes and then go to her??

Patong Inn? Same question??

dlite,

I find it hard to believe that you've never bar fined. You've got multiple posts !

Well, maybe you've just been chatting. With both waitresses and dancers, you need not wait. If you want to go, just barfine. In terms of BF, there's no difference between a dancer and a waitress. BF applies to both. If you're looking to save a few baht ( not worth it in my book ) then you may be able to hook up after her shift is over. But why wait until 2:00 AM to save $20 ? While she's dancing, call her over for a ladys drink (only one, for her only, she may come with friends) until you decide if she's what you want. This is the time to tell her what you want and how much you'll pay.

I've stayed at the Expat with no security problems. Never been to the Patong Inn. Expat has seen it all, no probs with girls, of any number (that's number, not age).

Hi guys,

I'm going back to Patong Beach for my fifth visit at the end of January.

Looking for a good deal on the accommodation front, I found an advert in the Phuket Gazette for some condos called BJ Park at the end of Soi San Sabai.

Seems very reasonably priced at about 1000 Baht per night for a studio. And looks nicely done out, kitchen plus alll the usual stuff.

Better than the 1950 Baht per night my usual hotel wants at that time of year (high season crap).

Anybody stayed at BJ Park or know anything about it?

Grateful for any info.

I'm in Phuket at the moment, though I've had precious little time for sanuk so far. Should have more after today, though tonight I'm told everything will be shut down for the king's birthday. The one girl I did barfine from one of the gogos off Soi Bangla wanted 1500baht for short time, settled for 1000 after a fair amount of grumbling, and then turned from sweetheart into clock-watcher back at the hotel when I didn't finish quickly.

FWIW, I managed a walk-in rate at the PS Hotel of 1050baht, and it's a decent enough place -- clean, quiet both inside and out, girl-friendly, only about fifty meters away from the main drag on Patong. Sorry, Toy Boy, don't know anything about BJ Park.

sugenman,

It is sometimes difficult and embarassing to find Thai girls who will do specifice acts due to the communication barrier. If you are in a gogo bar and ask the mamasan, they will help you but sometimes find your request funny and tell all the girls who laugh about it! If you ask the girl you're interested in it is hard to know if she fully understands if her English is weak. I prefer to ask the girl and use body language at the same time, like by putting my hand on her butt. How do you convey deepthroat? I don't know! I once used pictures from a porn magazine in one foreign country to show the street girls what I wanted. But you have to be very careful with this and consider the country you are in!!!! Try to find another sex tourist who knows some Thai, I had no problems finding help when I wanted to express a more complicated idea to a Thai girl.

Firedick, I completely understand why many prefer to pay bar fines and ST rooms since the idea is to bang the girl you want when you are horny. But for those with time (weeks as opposed to days) I recommend writing down phone numbers of all girls you like (in gogos, bars, or anywhere else). I got into the pattern of calling a girl before she got to work (3-5PM) and taking or calling another one late (2AM) and going to my hotel. This saved me 1800 bhat a day in barfines and ST rooms. 1800 bhat/day is nothing to you? That is great, but I believe many aren't in that enviable position!

Joe_zop,

Glad you finally made it out of CM. I thought you were going to stay there until your time was up...
There are loads of great little beaches in Phuket, I would have mailed you the specifics, but the gawddamn Yahoo won't let me write mails.
A nice way to turn any bar/gogo girl into very-accomodating-mode is to bring them out to Laem Phromthep at sunset. Very romantic, tho probably hundreds will be there...
And Joe, please, even in Patong barfines are B200 and LT B750 max!

Y'all,

December 30 is now a public holiday too. So, if you plan to do ANY travelling from December 29-January 3, get reservations well in advance or forget about it all together!
Unless you want to be transported like canned sardines, that is:D!

Joe Zop
12-05-02, 18:29
Freeler -- no, I was always planning to run out of CM; just took me longer than I expected (though I'm still planning to head back in a while.) Thanks for the advice on Laem Phromthep and it's something I'll try if I have the chance, though I'm actually not all that fond of Phuket to tell the truth, at least not Patong. Not sure I'm going to stick around to explore all that much, but my plans will be clearer tomorrow night.

And the 500b bar fine was what I was quoted in all of the gogo I've visited here, and some of the ST/LT quotes there were far more outrageous -- beer bars are less, of course, in all ways, and are likely more where I'll be hanging from this point on.

Phuket is nice!
Patong is by far the worst part of the island...
Other towns, like Karon or Kata, are smaller, quieter.... better!
Just get yourself a B200/day motorbike (HondaDream, not one of those big suicide machines!) and drive around.
You'll love it.
A daytrip to JamesBondIsland is great too. Never mind it's touristy. It is touristy because it is a GREAT site to visit!
Yes, they will drop you of at your hotel in time to do some early evening barhoppin'.

joe_zop,

Don't get disillusioned by the prices. Patong is generally more expensive but 200 Baht BF in a bar and 400 Baht in a GoGo is all I have ever paid.

Try hanging around Soi Bangla, or the supermarket at the junction with Rat-u-Thit road, after closing time at 2:00 AM if you have the patience. Anything with tits and two legs was available for 500 Baht back in February.

IMHO, Soi Sea Dragon is by far the best of the soi's. Great choice of beer bars or GoGo's. Over the last 3 years it has also generally had a good selection of lookers as well. My approach is just to relax, drink a beer and scout out a girl I like. Freeler?s suggestion on collecting phone numbers is a great idea. 1800 Baht is more beer than I can drink in a night, even at Phuket prices!

I now get free sex whenever I am in Patong, not from a bar girl, but from a "normal" Thai girl who works as a cashier. OK, not exactly free, there are some overheads (presents, trips to Krabi, Ko Phi Phi, etc.)!

I just find the beaches, diving, and day trips available in Phuket so much more relaxing than BKK or Pattaya. It costs, but there?s a lot of shit in BKK that will set you back more than anything I have ever done in Patong Beach.

Oh yeah, and don?t miss Christen?s for a massage. Not up to the best of BKK, but still very good. And you can be lying on a beach drinking fresh coconut milk the next morning. Try that on Sukhumvit.

Firedick,

I fully intended to make at least 3 trips to LOS this year, but pressures of work reduced this to 3 weeks in February. Not been back since :-(

I can't remember Amigos. My fave place is the Navy Bar, especially young Katai (Tai to her friends) if she is around. Moody, won't do anything too kinky, but a 9/10. PP GoGo is also fun.

Diving was great 10 months ago! Should be fine in 2 months as well, if I can force myself to get out of bed in time and shake the stale beer from between my ears. There's just too much to do in Phuket.

Fully agree on the small Hondas versus the big bikes. Bike crashes are the main cause of expat deaths in Phuket and run at one a week on average I believe. My girlfriend managed to cream herself on her little scooter during Songkran. Cost me 10,000 Baht to get her repairs sorted out. She'll pay in full early next year though when I return :-)

Don't get me wrong -- Phuket is truly breathtaking and marvelous; I'm just not a big one for huge crushes of tourists everywhere I go. Probably also why I'm not a huge Pataya person, and can only take short stops in Bangkok. I just prefer a bit more of a mellow experience, which may be why I like Samui, and why I'm thinking of a trip to Ko Chang before it gets destroyed. In any event, I'm toodling around a bit today, and heading for Krabi (and then probably Trang after that) tomorrow. Did Ko Phi Phi (have to admit I had somewhat higher expectations, though it was very nice) and will end up doing it again, as I'm going to do Krabi via ferry as opposed to bus -- not much difference in price overall, and a far better view along the way.)

And believe me, all, I've not in any way given up -- hardly the first time I've had a session go south. In fact, I managed to find another relative newcomer to the scene (which seems to be one of my themes this trip for some reason) at a little bar in on Soi Seadragon. A tiny little tilac, only 147cm (4'8") tall and just here on Monday from Udon Thani. Such a good time that I'm keeping her for the remainder of my stay here (Contrary to the principles of Z, I know, but my perspective is not to dump a good thing, and I'm still leaving tomorrow.) And yes, 200b bar fine and reasonable LT.

I'm not a big one for getting creamed here on a bike, big or small, and I find the drivers here even worse than in many places in LOS, so I'm just not going to bother with the cycle scene. Probably would have given it a try if I were staying longer, but I'm already antsy to get moving around a bit.

The PS Hotel is about a hundred feet north of the end of Soi Banglaon Rat-u-Thit, just past the soi that leads to the ExPat. I've had nothing but excellent service and no hassles there to this point, (they simply hold the girl's ID) and will definitely use it again.

Toy Boy -- tilac (or tirac) is Thai for "darling" if I've got it correct. And, yes, I did enjoy my time in Patong, really -- three days with a lovely girl who was shy but responsive the first night, and then aggressive and demanding the next ones, as well as willing to try thing new to her (first time riding on top, which she described as too much, but kept doing it) and first time giving or receiving oral. Definitely beats the weather in the twenties I see is swirling around at home.

FD, Amigos is still there; I recall walking past it. Didn't stop in for a drink -- too many bars, not enough days! -- but it was there. And I'll post whatever I find about Krabi and Trang, though I'm not stying in either all that long. Krabi isn't much in terms of a town, really, from what I've seen in a couple of hours, but the wharf is really nice, and the surrounding scenery is spectacular. I'll see what there is going on a bit later tonight.

I know the bus was way cheaper, Freeler, but my back's still not quite right from the last one, and I wanted to do things by water, regardless of a couple hundred baht. I'm glad I did, as I really enjoyed the look of things coming into Ao Nang. Truly spectacular. I'll be on the bus/van to Trang, though, and probably back north, depending on where I go. Not much I can do about Trang being invaded, unfortunately -- maybe I'll be lucky and they'll all be at the various beaches and islands :) I know what you mean about new ground -- given that Ko Chang seems suddenly to be designated as the next Phuket, I'm really considering heading over there before it gets all built up and damaged.

joe_zop,

I hate foreign languages. Some time ago I bought a book in Bookazine, "Thai for lovers - a complete guide to the romantic culture of Thailand", thinking this would allow me to suggest all sorts of interesting and fun new things to the ladies with effortless precision.

That night I sat with a bar girl and tried to get into it (the book that is). She kept telling me 'man is crap, man is always crap'. This wasn't good for my ego, even if she was trying to explain the difference between kop khun krap and . . ka.

Then a few nights later I was showing it to the regular girl (who oddly seemed a bit mystified by some of the more explicit stuff in it) and she latched on tight to the section starting with 'How much will the dowry be?'. I kept trying to speak the wors for 'no need for a dowry' in Thai, while desperately looking for the phrase for "are you off your sweet fucking head".

After the 'crap man' stuff I called it a day trying to learn Thai. But I shall remember "tilac" and try it next time.

Firedick: no I never got to the Similans, it?s on my list of things to do and has been for some time (Ha! Like diving in Palawan, after 5 years of visiting the Philippines I still ain't been there). I saw some stuff in the press that the visitors have been lousing the place up by leaving their litter on the beaches. A mate of mine did go there three years ago and enjoyed it, but he didn?t rave about it. Unlike my Dive Instructor friend living in Mindoro who does rave about Palawan. And about the sweetest blowjob he ever got in Puerto Princessa , not only about the great diving.

Toy Boy (Steve),

We seem to be cut from similar cloth. I've been to Phuket 7 or 8 times now and have never made it out to the Similans. Nor have I gotten down to Palawan despite living in Manila and making multiple trips back before and since. I guess it's easy to get lazy and sit on a bar stool enjoying the company of the ladies. Your comment about the liter is dead on. I hate the way so many of the Filipino people trash their environment. I had a girl on the back of my motorcycle finish her mango juice and chuck the can along the side of the road. She thought I was absolutely crazy when we went back to pick it up.

Lucky you, living in Manila.

I used to frequent Dakak in N. Mindanao and got badly hooked on a girl from Dipolog. That cost me two years of travelling until I found (again!) the extent of the SE Asian extended family problem and ditched her (or did she ditch me? - I can't remember). After that it was strictly S/T in Mactan and Ermita. The diving around Zamboanga del Norte was great when El Nino wasn't bleaching the coral all to hell. The big walls off Cebu were my favourites, tremendous to just hover in silence at 30 m above a 1000 m sheer drop.

I?ve been trying to get a job in SE Asia for 25 years. Last year I thought I had it, a job in BKK itself! But the guy who wanted me there got moved on himself by his wondrous employer?s rotation system, and the dickless moron who replaced him decided to save costs and not hire anybody new.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Steve.

Michi and Jes007,

I stayed at Club Bamboo two times already. Great Place and no problems with bringing girls. Booked also via latestays.com and got good value for my money. They have shuttle service to the beach during the daytime. During my last stay I took the Penthouse suite because they gave me a very good price.

Wait until you see the jacuzzi in that room. You can party with 2 girls in the tub and there will still be space.

I am planning to go back the end of January. Will keep you updated

Good place to stay in Patong "Siam Guest House" Very near the action. On the road adjacent to Soi Bangla (opposite end to beach, 7/11 on corner) about 50 yards up on the left past the Yorkshire Hotel. (good food incidentally)
Thai run, nice rooms 800 bht double 650bht smaller room. No hassle at all with bringing girls back. Very friendly staff.
can be emailed at siamguesthouse@hotmail.com, they will also pick you up from the airport if you want.

I'm going to be Phuket for a 3 days in march (side-trip from elsewhere in the region), my first trip to LOS. I've skimmed through the forum and some of the archives, but was curious if somebody had current info on prices, the situation with the gov't discouraging the fun, and good places to go to pick up part-timer chicks or amateurs?

Old posts seem to indicate a lot of transvestites (not my thing!), is that still the case?

What is the acceptable price range these days for amateurs or part-timers, as well as for hotels these days?

I will post a report after my trip.

thnx.

was in Patong (Phuket) in mid November. Plenty of action going on. Prices around 1000bht-1500bht for Lt and around 500bht for st. At the time I was there, to get a bargain you just had to wait til 2am when the bars close and you can strike a good deal for whatever you want! (so many women, not enough punters)
Some Ladyboys but you will spot them.

hi all

I am going to phuket at the beginning of april. Will stay in karon or kata after some days diving in the similan.

I love massage, and if possible to have some fun during or at the end of the massage .....BJ or something like that.*

I am going there with my wife.....yes I know...I would like to know if some of you know some good places where we could both have a massage but a different one for me without giving any doubt on my serious apparent nature to my wife? I don't necessary look for fuck but a nice massage with some nices ends could be nicer;

Any idea or experience in this area?patong kata krabi?

thanks for help

HiPulu94,
only one serious massage place in Phuket, Christines on the main road. But Icannot give you any recommendation, do not believe in monopolists and never went myself.
some brothers gavve recom before, but very mixed quality it seems.
On the beach roed girls will appproach you for massage as well, but be aware: a lot of katoey -- no girls!
I Prefer to look for a nice girl in the bars or discos and than take oput. ... but with you wife around probably no goiod idea!

Christens is the place to go for either.

On the ground floor, there is the traditional Thai massage (no oil) and also oil massage. The girls will offer you additional services which is only a HJ (with no other intimacy) for which they will ask for a tip of about 500 Bt. I don't remember how much you have to pay for the massage itself.

If you go upstairs, you can get a body on body massage which costs about 2,000 Bt for about an hour. This includes a CBJ and FS. You can sit at the bar and look at the fish bowl which has regular girls on the left and "superstars" on the right. After a drink you can choose one by pointing her out to one of the manager type guys and quoting her number.

I had 3 good ones there and I will definitely be back !

Cheers.

no new messages added since 26th january --- is phuket really so quiet?

i just got back from 4 weeks in patong beach, so will give a quick update, even if nobody is interested as would be judged from the level of postings here!

the bottom line is that it is all much the same as last year but a bit quieter when i was there this time. the hotel owners in soi san sabai tell me that they had a good xmas/january, then it all went quiet in february. but it seems that they expect to be busy again in april (songkran water fever?).

anyway, if you fancy a last minute trip to patong, there are vacancy signs on most of the hotels and guest houses on san sabai. no problem getting accommodation at all.

shark is still closed. last year the story was that the sukothai family (mega-rich golf playing buddies of thaksin) owned the land here and would ensure that after a dignified closure period it would soon reopen. one year later it is still shut down. why? nobody seems to know. obviously, somebody is making money out of it, but the only big beneficiary i could see is tai pan just across the road, which is busier than it used to be. plenty of freelancers here, presumably some of the old shark crowd. but it hardly makes up for the missing 600 k baht/night turnover that went down the tubes when shark was closed down.

the sea dragon gogos are changing their names but not much else that i could see. pink panther, for example, has become the height bar (no idea why?). octopus has opened on the corner with bangla and had a lot of money spent on it, but seemed empty all the time.

imho the best looking ladies are still to be found in sea dragon, but they are not the cheapest or always the most co-operative. i found two really sweet ladies (lin and elly) in soi eric who were into a regular threesome and were much more realistic on the money front. bar fine is still 200 baht, and i was more than happy to pay for them both.

the muay thai girls on soi bangla are still good for a laugh, but the bar fine has gone up to 300 baht. i found one (kai) who did a great fingernail massage before the sex, and used her on a number of nights (including my last one, 2 hours sleep before catching the bkk flight home).

the cheapest way to get a lady is still to wait until closing time at 2:00 am and all the way from the cockpit to the 7/11 you will find girls who will usually jump at 500 baht for short time. i did it one night, but then got to sleep at 6:00 am which totally left me wrecked for the beach the next day. easier to pay 200 baht bar fine, maybe a few hundred extra for the girl, and get to bed before the goddamn sun comes up.

the only real massage parlour, christen's, is still going strong, but i avoided it this time. between the sea dragon, eric and thai boxing girls i had six lovely ladies at my regular disposal. actually, although i didn't need the sex, the soapy body massage at christen's is worth it. next time i will renew my acquaintance.

the us navy showed up once in the first week, and then it was only a small supply ship (300 sailors). they are no longer allowed to stay onshore, and also have to wear civvies, so you won't know them anyway. to be honest, in my experience the impact of the navy is anyway overblown. most of these guys are pleasant lads, and seem more interested in getting fun cocktails that the ship's bar doesn't serve than in laying pipe. there?s also clearly the standard navy contingent of boys who ain't interested in girls.

well, there you have it. a quiet, relaxing, no-pressure, fun, four weeks in the sun. maybe that's why the board here is quiet. patong beach is not the world's most exciting place. none of the borderline (or even downright illegal) stuff that you can find in bangkok is readily available. or at least if it is, then it is much less obvious. but it is safe and easy to get around, has a great beach and wonderful [CodeWord117] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord117), ice cold beer and more girls than you can shake a condom at. in spite of the katoey (maybe because of, i am still confused about people's attitudes to this stuff which leaves me personally completely cold) it is actually quite a family place for the more adventurous sort of family.

safe, boring, wonderful patong beach!

I was there briefly (3 days) earlier this month, I will put up a report shortly.

Frog in Patong Beach(Phuket).
Well the bar scene around Soi Banghla is getting more and more commercial than it has been 3 years before. The girls prefer to go shorttime (THB 500 - 2000) instead of Longtime/GFE (THB 1000 up). But there are still very kind TG.
There are some places to pick up Freelancers: especially next door to the PS-Hotel (Tai Pan). There are some younger girls and more of them after 1 am when many of the bars close. But the mass is average and the age between 30 and 45 i guess.
Round the corner (Soi Sansabai) you can try to pick up a FL; there are some restaurants/bars open 24 hours. Met a really cute Girl there and i didn't feel unsafe.

Had a bad experience with a bar-girl from Soi Eric; she might have taken some money out of my pouchbag but even police could not help me.

Accomodation: i can recommend PS-Hotel in Patong Beach (but avoid late check out because they might charge you THB 600 up)or Seabreeze-Inn in Karon Beach; both girl/friendly and round about 1000 THB/night for an aircon-room, 2 breakfast included).

I was in Patong Beach in Phuket not long ago, for only a few nights, first visit.

Lots of action. The smaller town puts things on a much more managable scale.

After bars close (2-2:30am) seems like a good time to pick up chicks cheaply, as others have pointed out, but hard to make your selection quickly I found, as the good ones seem to clear out and head home pretty quickly. A number of cute girls were still around, eating at tables around the sidewalk vendors, but I was loathe (that night) to interrupt them to try to select one. LOTS of lady-boys hanging around at that point.

An unusually large number of shims (lady-boys) out each night, or so I thought -- maybe normal for patong. They're usually easy to identify, but I was initially fooled a few times.

I visited one or two go-go bars, but didn't take anybody out.

I did pick up girls from the Tiger Disco, which a tuk-tuk driver recommended. It's the large second-story one on Bangla Rd, across next-door to the kick-boxing place, with the big Tiger's head side entrances. 200 baht (2 drink coupons) to get in unless you get there late, in which case it's 100baht (1 coupon). Good selection of young, pretty girls inside (fewer shims too!), seemed like a mix or pros and semi-pros, some amateurs. Seemed like 1000baht was the standard price here (after bargaining, they would ask for 1500 usually), for short-time, but the girls didn't seem to be in a big hurry once you got them out. I didn't try to get the prices any lower, probably possible later in the night.

One of the girls told me she thought the shark club would reopen in the next few months. I also visited the banana club which didn't have much to offer as far as girls went...

I stayed at the Bamboo Club Resort, recommended a while back in this forum, and was very pleased with the place. Reasonably priced if booked through latestays (nice bungalow suites, though a little more expensive). The only drawback to the place is that it's just outside of the busy part of town, so at night it can be hard to get a ride into town without calling a full sized taxi.

Man, I love thai girls.

Rumpus,

I find that the guest houses in Soi San Sabai (go straight across the traffic lights at the end of Soi Bangla) are ideal. I use the Summer Breeze, run by Lester Smith (http://phuket-summerbreeze.com/), very nice and friendly and safe, though it's not the cheapest. Search for "San Sabai cheap hotel" in Google or Alta Vista and you should get a good list. This time I was in Patong for a month, so I rented a condo at the end of Soi San Sabai. It was beautiful and very cheap, about 1000 Baht/night for a 60 m2, 2-room apartment with full AC and kitchenette. Impresses the hell out of the girls who think I am something above the usual monger and service me accordingly. Never had so many BBBJ's without even asking. Way to go.

jackdaniels,

I spent an hour or two in Tai Pan but didn't sample the goods as I had two very accommodating ladies from the Chi Chi Bar in Soi Eric on my arms. The music was live and loud, too much so for my taste (and for the amps to judge by the level of distortion). I tend to avoid FL's for safety reasons. With 5000 or more bar girls available in PB I can always find something that suits my mood, and knowing that the girl is known makes me feel safer (see the recent discussions on the Pattaya board, maybe I am excessively cautious, (or totally neurotic?) but I travel alone and so try to avoid unnecessary risks).

Hey there,

Been following this channel for sometimes but just seldom join in, as i'm not really frequent to cheong...

Anyway, i'm going to have a breakaway to Phuket or Koh Samui on 12 Apri for few days. I personally like beaches for skin tanes and also "bitches" for my little brother this time.

So I need some easy cheongers to accompany with....anyone interested ?

By the way, what is the best route to Phutket ? By bus from KL to Hatyai then to Phuket ? or join travel agent with fright ? whatabout i take flight on my own ? any suggestion ?

my little bro is ready man....

6'Nail,

KL-Phuket:
Busing all the way will take about, hmmm, all 24 hours of a day.
After your nightbus trip into HadYai count on another 6(van) to 8(airbus) or even 10 (ordinary bus) hours to get to Phuket.
Fly!
Perhaps fly from Penang?
It's very easy to do on your own. Once in Phuket airport take a B60 van to the hotel of your choice and cheong!

Do keep in mind that Songkhran/'Waterfestival'/ThaiNewYear is in mid-April. I would book well in advance if you want a 'classy' hotel during ThaiNewYear.

PS Flying is your only option if you want to go to Samui. Bus+boat=too long for a short break.

Peace:)

Two questions:

The 60B is the Thai Airways 'Wherever you go as long as it is Phuket' fare?

I am going there on april 9. Should I book PS Hotel or something on Soi Sunset or Soi San Sabai before arriving (cause of Songkhran)?

Freeler

Philo,

I've been searching for the <airport van> on the web but can't find it:(. But it should be there! You could choose Phuket town or Patong/Kata/KaronBeaches.
You could email ThaiAirways and ask.

I found a schedule for busses out of Phuket to the towns you asked about in 'OtherAreas', go to bottom of the page:
http://phuket.sawadee.com/transfer.htm

On Phuket regular bus/songthaew services only run to 5.30pm. After that everything turns taxi. One taxiride on Phuket is about the same price as a day's motorbike rent...

I don't think it's necessary to book in advance. But it could be better for your state of mind - One less worry.

Peace:)

I will try to get the 60 B voucher at the airport (instead of paying 400+ B for taxi/limousine to Patong).

Your adventures off the beaten track are enviable: but as I really am a sissy (hehe) I think I will start Phuket - maybe make a trip to HDY or BKK - and end Phuket. Time will show......

I haven't tried the 60 Baht bus, never knew about it.

But just by the exit doors as you leave HKT airport is a stand where you can get the tourist minibus to Patong, Karon and Kata. It is a flat 150 Baht. I took it this time instead of the taxi, and it's fine, just takes a bit longer, but I was still in San Sabai within an hour. And it pisses off the K-K people who have to tour the back streets of Patong Beach dropping the likes of me off. (So there's even on-board entertainment!)

a month in los!!! after arriving in bangkok april 24, around 11:00 pm planning to take bus or taxi to majestic suites. then check out nana night scene, perhaps get a soapy and lt my first night! i like the idea of taking the three hour bus ride to khorat for my first weekend in los, staying at kstars (khorat hotel) a few days exploring issan provinces, then back to bangkok on monday for a flight to phuket, do some snorkeling and mongering for a few days then fly from phuket to ko samui for the weekend, perhaps take a girl with me from phuket, for some some wind surfing, paragliding and go a few days "via" the 1 1/2 hour speed boat ride to ko tao a few days of open water diving. then back to ko samui/phuket and perhaps a flight to pattaya for a few more days of mongering before returning to phuket and possibly exploring krabi. phuket seems like a naturally good departure point/base, for checking out southern thailand. hope i have time to check out the similian islands. though i must say . . . seeing nitty gritty thailand from perspective of seniors members is intriguing, just not quite confident . . . though, think i'll spend my last week exploring northern provinces.

HKT-airport:
Guess it's recommended to take the limousine-service or the Bangkok-Airways-Service or a free transfer from your hotel (e.g. PS) because there was some hussle 2 weeks ago between a guard and a illegal taxi-driver (was shot).
It's saver and cheaper.
Some hotels + the limousine/minibus service have their boots inside but the rest must wait outside the building.

When buying the ticket for the minibus you'll be asked where to go and they send/show you (to) the right bus. I've never heard they serve certain beaches only.

Hi,
there's a minibus-service from Karon/Patong (Phuket-Town, else?) to the Airport; i don't remember the price (THB 150?) and the duration of the trip. And you have to ask for schedule and stops. The only stop I remember is near PS Hill but at PS Hotel they will give you information on request (I was offered minibus and taxi).

Frog,

The returntrip of the service I meant started at ThaiAirways office on RanongRoad, PhuketTown. Then at B60 and 100% reliable.
It was much like the ThaiBus from Pattaya to BKK-Airport, meaning: quick, safe, cheap, 100% reliable and NO stops at all.

The old Shar Club has or will reopen under the name StarWars, it will have the same owner as Tiger Disco. I have not bin there yet, but it suposed to go under 10-15 million THB resuration.
TpyBoy you were asking for why the Pink Åanther has changed name, the old owner Harald ( the norwegian Biker) as far as I know don't own the place anymore, he got in to trouble with his wife and she striped him for most of his assets ( they was in her name) and he is stucked in Thailand becuse of a "biker-

Else I will say that Patong is quieter than usual, specily now lait in the seson.

Hi rabagast,

Thx for the info on Shark plans. Any news on the timing of the reopening? It will be good to get it back open again, stupid for one of the best pieces of real estate in Patong Beach to lie rotting because of some local politics. Do you know who owns Tiger? That must be one well-connected dude if he is getting Shark as well.

Also the story on Pink Panther is interesting. The first time I have heard of a Thai "wife" doing a dirty on the expat "husband". But it has always seemed a real possibility to me, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

I like Patong at this time of year, even into July. The weather can be fresher, some rain, though most of the girls stay around until the rains start properly in August/September. Fewer punters so less hurry to find your bonk for the night. I've never noticed any real effect on the prices though, except for hotel rooms, which mostly become dirt cheap after April.

Cheers,

I agree with Frog 3/23 about the Seabreeze Inn at Karon Beach. It is not special, but clean, the airconditioner works well, good water pressure in the shower, cheap and a super friendly staff. In general I much prefer Karon to Patong, being much quiter and cleaner, and only 10 minutes away by tuk-tuk. The bar girls are locals, and some not bad looking. I also tried the Grand Plaza in Phuket Town and Christen in Patong. Would not really recommend either one. The selection was skimpy. The one I chose at Christen turned out to be about 20 years older than she looked in the fish bowel. Not a sexsessful experience.

this is a post from my friend who is currently in phuket, he gave me permission to submit this. i'm arriving in bankok april 24, and will look forward to posting some experiences as well.

_____________

well, i never bought panty liners before, but i guess when you have assumed the role of sugardaddy, you're not just in for the penny, you're in for the pound. including the minutes for the cel phone upon which she calls her mother every day, (2 calls, 1st to get someone to go get mom and 2nd to talk to her), and calls to all her buddies to tell them she landed a rich farang who is treating her to an all expenses paid vacation at phuket. i can't understand the language but she laughs and giggles a lot and looks at me when she does it.

let's talk toilets. it appears that there are several kinds here. the regular western toilet, that you can sit on or leave the seat up on, we are all familiar with this one. the first night at our hotel liy climbed up on this one and squatted with both feet on the sides of the bowl, which i thought was a little strange until i saw the toilet at coral island today. it is a porcelain bowl about 12" high with no seat which you squat upon with both feet on the bowl. the bowl has a hole for the waste, but no tank with water to flush. you throw a bowl full of water in the thing to flush it. and then there is what i used to call the "turkish bomb sight" when i lived in turkey. this is a porcelain bowl set flush with the floor with foot pads on either side and again you squat on this thing and hope you hit the hole. hence "bomb sight". for the last two examples there is no toilet paper, just the kitchen sprayer ga! dget. you just drip dry. in the big dept stores there are stalls with modern toilets but the toilet paper is at the door to the restroom, you roll off as much as you think you will need and take it into the stall with you. let's hope you haven't underestimated. so much for toilet talk.

liy and i were traveling on sunday the 13th which is the thai new year. a long trip, about 8 hours on the bus. i highly recommend a bus trip to see the country. but the whole population had gone nuts for the celebration. evidently sprinkling some one with water is good luck, so of course the more water the better. people set up road blocks and have huge vats of water if not hoses to supply as much water as possible to throw on people. they put big vats of water in the back of pickup trucks and drive around having water battles. i suspect our bus trip took an extra hour or two because of the road blocks and the traffic jams. when we got to phuket town we had to get a taxi to patong beach. we were offered an open tuktuk but i said no way, thinking of the a/c. what a smart if unintentional decision. it took over an hour for a normally 20 minute ride, what with the water fights and the road blocks. ! ; we didn't open the windows either. patong beach was crazy, with all the farangs joining in the festivities. we made it safely to the hotel but of course as soon as we exited the cab we were soaked. we stayed in the rest of the night to avoid the craziness. the sonkran festival lasts for 5 days. over 200 were killed the first two days in car/moto accidents. only about 200 people worldwide have died of the sars virus in a month!

today we went to coral island for a snorkel tour. what a disapointment and waste of money and time. the boat over was old and decrepit. i was half expecting it not to make it. the snorkel gear didn't fit properly, liy's life vest was up over her ears. they charged us an extra 100 baht each for flippers. i flippered out to the reef and the coral was dead, few fish, garbage in the water and a 1 1/2 knot current to fight against. i was pissed and flippered back to shore(which was littered with garbage) and complained , demanding my money back for the flippers. a total disappointment. and we had to stick around until 3:00 pm for the ride back to chalong. last time i did this trip it was pretty good, but we snorkeled the other end of the beach which was off limits this time. lunch was good, tho. deep fried fish, fried chicken and three different thai dishes with fresh fruit. our english friends woul! dn't eat the fish because the head was still on it. i didn't tell them that they cook them with the guts still in sometimes too. so think i may schedule a speed boat trip to phi phi island, which i know will be good. we came back to the hotel and headed directly to the pool for a swim. very nice pool. liy has been working on her strokes and is doing well, but she hasn't learned how to breathe yet. so when she runs out of air she stops swimming. she has become a real water sprite.

last night we went out to dinner on the beach rd. filet mignon for $3, t-bone steak for $2.50. thai food for a $1-2. and for dessert you can have "ice scream", no joke.
this is phuket bike week, the town is full of bikers and hd motorcycles. it seems one can't get away from the overly noisy and annoying harleys no matter where you go in th world. i remember taking a hike up baldy and stopping at the viewpoint half way up. you could hear the harleys roaring around town like they were right next to you but they were a mile away. and as long as i am bitching, the first winter i was here i drove over galena pass and stopped at the overlook for the view. as soon as i stepped out of the car i could hear the buzzing of the snow mobiles over 5 miles away and the whole valley was blue with exhaust smoke! arrrgh! now they want to put the atv trail in copper basin so we can have the same conditions there in the summer. double aaaarrrrggh!
tomorrow we have to take care of some housekeeping. liy wants to send some of my/her money to her parents, i have to make arrangements for my flight back to bangkok, arrange for transport for liy back to samui, and extend my home air reservations by a week. i am going to extend my stay by a week or two. no reason to come home right away.

talk to you later.

Here's another post from my buddy in Phuket. Right now, sounds like he's having a bit of rough time!

____________

400+ killed, over 12,000 accidents so far for Sonkran. Mostly drunk driving and 89.9% involving motorbikes.

Tourism down by 30% because of the war in Iraq and the Sars scare. Last time I was here it was the bombing in Bali. I bring bad luck to SEAsia.

I am not feeling well again today. My upset tummy has returned. I always seem to get some minor affliction when I come here. Last visit it was a big sore on my lip which appeared the day after I arrived and took two weeks to heal. A definite impediment to a full and satisfying social life. A pain in the knee when I got to Patong Beach, which still bothers me a little. Then I got the stomach cramps a few days before I left. This time I developed the stomach problem right away, and then I got the prickly heat rash which started on one shoulder and progressed to stomach and then back and left arm. When you have a minor ailment here you go to the pharmacy, describe (or show) your symptoms and they give you some medicine. Only diarrhea, no vomiting? Take this and it will go away in a few days. Rash, does it itch? Rub this ointment on, it will go away in few days. Last time I went to the Dr here (for my swollen knee) I had an exam, a shot for the inflammation and two prescriptions, cost $41. That is the entry fee to the waiting room in the US. Excising the cyst on my back cost $21 including the pain pills. Having my teeth cleaned and repaired cost about $40. Having my fat suctioned (oh, vanity! Thy name is legion.) in BK will cost bout $1200. Such deals.

Yesterday and today are cloudy and relatively cool, mid 80s. We took the moto for a ride over to Kata and Karon beaches, ended up just sightseeing and shopping for clothes and souvenirs. An early HBO evening as I could feel my malaise coming back .
So, off to the pharmacy for some medication.

As told, Star Wars the new disco in Phuket have opened, in the old locality to Shark Club, during the Songkran festival it was packed every night, last night less people. The serviced is good, probably the best sound system in Patong, good light and laser shows, the dance floor have bin reduced since the DJ-Boot have bin moved downstairs to the end of the dance floor, good selection of pro and semi pro freelancers or bargirls (the can often leave their bars at 1 o'clock). I had a good time there, was there with some friends from Europe and they all loved it. It has the same owner as Tiger in Bangla.

Star Wars.

As you are all probably aware 'The Shark Club', infamous for it's customers 'blatant lewd' behavior and resultant closing has re-opened as 'Star Wars'. Perhaps Phuket's most enviable nightlife location, right on the corner of Bangla Rd and Rat-U-Thit Rd it sits just across the street from 'The Hard Rock a-gogo'. this would have to be considered the main drag of Patong nightlife. The foot traffic in this area is greater than anywhere in Patong. I am sure that the flow can only increase making this venue the 'Hottest' spot in town.

I had never visited 'The Shark Club' so I was excited to venture to 'Star Wars' on opening night. In an effort to be thorough I went last night as well. My review reflects atmosphere, attendees, and attitude on two separate saturday nights two weeks apart. Here goes:

The Club

The club itself is expansive. Extremely high ceilings and a big dance floor. The first floor has bars and seating in a horseshoe configuration around the generous dance floor. The DJ booth sits opposite the entrance and the sound system is bangin' [gigantic clusters of huge JBL's hung from the ceiling dangle all about the room]. The upstairs is more of a deck that overlooks the dancefloor and provides a nice view at lovelies and drunken falangs dancing about. Music was almost exclusively Techno with some Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Kylie tossed in, na-na-na, na-na-nanana, na-na-na.... The music is what you would expect as the same 'sounds' seem to be blared at all big clubs throughout the Kingdom. There is lots of seating upstairs and downstairs but get there before 11:30pm if you are in a group that is interested in grabbing a table.

The decor is a bit ridiculous. Just about every fabled movie alien is airbrushed/chalk drawn on the massive walls to include: a Klingon, 'Alien' from the self-titled movie, Yoda, Predator, Jabba the hut, etc. etc. The characters are not limited to Star Wars, in fact some are just made up having never appeared in a big budget flick. The DJ booth is a gigantic mesh flying saucer and allows the DJ's a great view of the crowd while throwing free t-shirts to revelers throughout the night. In front of the booth sit two huge, rather poorly designed, paper mache astronauts. They are clad in space suits and appear to be dancing. Emblazoned on them are the Star Wars logo and the Thai Flag. Yeah, I would really enjoy an inside look at Thailand's Space Program. The Star Wars logo is completely ripped of on all promotional collateral, straight outta the movie. George Lucas must be shitting in his storm trooper outfit.

200 baht admission and a frisk down get you in with two drink coupons. This isn't so bad of a trade off as Singha and Carlsberg are both 100 baht apiece, and any girl entering must pony up 200 baht as well. The result is that right away you are meeting people who already have bought two drinks. The mood seems to be more directed at dancing and having a good time than getting someone to pay for drinks. The 200 baht at the door seems like a bad idea but there were plenty of girls there and no one suggested I buy them a drink, not even once. Drinks are served by thai maidens wearing an 'asbestos-looking-space-suit-mini-skirt' with a high 'spacelike' collar. Perhaps something Mr. Spock might wear if he were a ladyboy. On opening night they sported antennae [I think they are called dealyboppers], but this was thankfully not present on my second visit.

The bathrooms are big and can accommodate quite a few people; however, there were only urinals in the mens room so if you have to take a 'KHRAP' make sure you take it somewhere else.

The People

Since it is a new club the atmosphere of the crowd is much better than what you would find at nearby [same owner] Tiger Club, Banana Disco, Tai Pan, and VIP Asia. Everyone except the Falangs are dressed for the occasion with 'state of the art' Bar Girl Gear. Tight dresses, jeans, platforms, and bear mid-drift are the norm. There were several groups of what we have come to refer to as 'Stunners' decked out and looking very, very hot. There were quite a few 'Hard Rock' gals there with their sponsor for the evening. Dancing away and wondering why they just forked over a 600 baht barfine only to step into Patong's ultimate freelancer destination. The 'Stunners' will be waiting for the pace to pick up at around 12 midnight so I would suggest playing it cool and just doing some window shopping for a while. By 12:00 midnight most of the seating has been claimed but you can find a place to set you drinks while you hit the dance floor, or buy a girl already seated a drink and just 'use' the table as a occasional pitstop. Falangs are sporting the worst of vacation regalia: bootleg Diesel shirts, fanny packs, singha shirts, flip flops, and will begin to outnumber the Thai girls in attendance at about 1:30 - 1:45 am. Last night the club was open and rocking as late as 2:30 when I left. The only sign of a shutdown was as I was walking out the DJ kicked on a love song so, well, you do the math.

There are lots of manager types walking around being Mr. Important and wearing flashy suits. They don't really hassle anyone but from time to time they will walk out look up at a speaker cluster, make some kind of determination, and move on. The door policy is strictly enforced. Thai girls need ID cards and don't try to bring in a knife or anything that can be construed as a weapon. On both occasions I was frisked, metal detected, and had to empty my pockets.

The girls are in all shape and size, nice selection of cuties to drink, dance, or romance with. Most seem to be having a good time. Understand that once you make a selection she will stick with you like glue warding off all other 'opponents'. My suggestion is to go there alone and move around alot, dancing, smiling, whatever, until you are sure that you have found Ms. Right. You won't be disappointed. I reiterate; for the time being Star Wars is Patong's ultimate freelancer destination. There is no reason why a couple on their honeymoon or vacation cannot enjoy Star Wars. The freelance talent here is not pushy or aggressive and several falang couples were seen enjoying themselves on both visits.

Ladyboys are in attendance big time, but are fairly easy to spot and are not a nuisance to me. They want to dance, but everyone seems to be dancing together so no biggie. If you are into ladyboys [I'm not] this club sports a huge selection. Be careful as to the newbie you will have no idea that some of 'Girls' are 'Boys'. The ladyboys of patong are much more refined than their 'brothers' in Bangkok. I have several times saw a girl across the street and crossed intent on meeting her only to realize that she was in fact a guy. Even non-newbies should watch their ass, for lack of a better term.

Should you wait too long or not find a girl relax. This club sits at the apex of the 'after hours Patong freelancer street scene'. Cross the street, go into 7-11, grab a 40 baht Singha and then stand mouth agape as you watch 100-200 'total hotties' ply their trade. I am a big proponent that Patong is best from 2:00 am until 4:30 am. For what it's worth check out the surrounding area of soi San-Sabai. Didi's cafe, SuperStar, and a couple of other joints are open all night long and full of 'shaggables'. Right at the beginning of Soi San Sabai adjacent to Vip Asia sits a Hamburger cart that serves delicious burgers for 50 baht. I recommend it highly. It is way better than hitting the beach road and subsequently getting your ass handed to you by a group of ladyboys.

I am happy Star Wars has opened. It's OK for what it is, a dance club; however, it ads an exciting dynamic to the busiest section of Patong Beach. The increased foot traffic will no doubt be castigated by some but independent food vendors, stray dogs, and after hours sanuk seekers will all benefit. As will the restaurants in the immediate area. I hope that both Tai Pan and VIP Asia can weather the storm as on both of my visits to Star Wars they were empty. I also enjoy these spots and will post more about them in the future.

Go to Star Wars and have some fun, better yet stay there until closing and check out the nightly circus that takes place across the street where you can grab a girl, a singha, and a hamburger for less than the 600 baht barfine at the Hard Rock. [note: I am in no way suggesting the 'Hard Rock' should not be visited, it is always a stop along my way around in Patong].

Hard Rock Update

If you have spent time in the gogo bars in Bangkok, Pattaya, [or hell even the United States] then Phuket's [specifically Patong] gogo scene may be a little disappointing to you. First of all, there are only a handful of venues to watch girls shakin' it up on the catwalk for your viewing slash barfining pleasure. Worse yet is that all but one are comparable to some of Bangkok's worst gogo's.

I did not come here today to bury the pretenders, I am here to praise the one gogo bar in Patong that continually exceeds my expectations. The Hard Rock.

On the corner of Bangla Road and RatUTit Road sits the Hard Rock and it is always pumping after eight. Get there early before 8:30 pm and enjoy a happy hour with 60 baht Singha's, after that they are a little pricey at 110 baht but the place is consistent as hell.

Good service, Great music [anyone who consistently plays RamJam gets big ups - "Whoa Black Betty bambadam...."], and enough talent for the Phuket resident [read: me] to create a long checklist that will gloriously be completed and treasured for life.

There are several girls that actually get barfined regularly before they even change into their gogo uniform. Strolling in the door last saturday I watched one girl get to choose between three punters who had seen her dancing the night before. They were out of luck as last nights customer had already ponied up the hefty 600 baht required to walk out the door with this diminunative bespectacled hell cat. In reality I would say there are at least 5 10's in attendance and the average of the forty or so girls working is upward of 6.5. Note that one or two 'Barturds' can really destroy an average.

I have been in the Hard Rock at least ten times since Dec. 1, no cover, and because it was high season there are enough customers to create an atmosphere where the gals are just not pushing for drinks. As we enter low season this will probably change and this past weekend seemed to prove this as two girls approached me right off the bat and started their 'buy me cola' spiel.

Prices obviously vary when negotiating with a Hard Rock girl, but most seem to have a personality above and beyond the 'I go with you, 2000 baht short time' mentality, Then again some do not. Looks vary from Chinese Thai - to Isaan - to I think she might be from somewhere else.

When visiting make sure to be nice to the doorman as he makes a genuine effort to say hello and welcome you in. Once when I was extremely drunk he arranged for me to be included in a tuk tuk already travelling to Phuket Town for 100 baht. The going rate is usually 250 Baht.

Lots of falangs are spending money like crazy there but you can have an enjoyable time there on a budget, you just might be walking out alone. I start every Patong exploration here. It should not be missed.

Excellent reports ! Welcome to the board.

It sounds like the freelance talent is better than the Go-Go talent. I had this observation last year when I used to frequent Tai-Pan. Is Star Wars attracting talent at Tai pan's expense or is there plenty to go around ?

Cheers.

I have always been a huge fan of freelance. Tai pan & Vip Asia have really been empty on my last two visits. Tai Pan seems to have a loyal following that will keep them going and it seems like an institution. VIP asia, which was GREAT in dec-feb looks to be hurting. I am living in Phuket and have lurked on this board for a long time. I will continue to check out the scene and update when appropriate.

It's 10:42 pm in Phuket, gotta go find some excitement.

the road to patong

'hey lady, you got the love i need,
maybe more than enough,
ohhh, darlin' - darlin' - darlin'
walk a while with me,
ohhhhhh, you got so much, sooo much, soooo much......

--led zeppelin - 'over the hills and far away'

perhaps one of my favorite songs by my all time favorite band. as a boy growing up in upstate ny i missed out on a chance to see them perform live when john bonham choked on his vomit and died in his sleep. i have seen a great number of primo concerts in my day and the event always seem to trigger a reaction in me where once you have seen the band you have somewhat arrived and can really begin to understand their music in a way that was not possible before. i have felt a great loss in not having completed this understanding of led zeppelin.

funny how life is though. sometimes event[s] can have a way of bringing out new meaning in a song, painting, or poem helping the listener to make a new revelation. how the fuck does this fit into my life in phuket?????

phuket town is not the most dynamic of cities that i have called home. yet two or three times a week i hop on to my 110 cc suzuki cool [it has a clutch, no auto jobby for me] and zip over the back roads to patong beach. compliments to stickman as his weekly article inspired this. this trip is in some ways the best part of my life and i felt it would be good to share a positive aspect of thailand's roadways.

it starts as i leave work around six thirty. i head home to grab a quick bite, check my email, shower, and then head out to my faithful watering hole in phuket town. by nine thirty the song has been playing repeatedly in my head. understand that when i first got my hands on the lp - 'houses of the holy' i used to do the same thing. listen to the same track over, and over, and over. at this point i am ready to make the trip to patong and i am in such a good mood you could slap me and i wouldn't care.

for people unfamiliar with phuket traffic it isn't 1/100th as jammed as bangkok; however, in my opinion it is much more dangerous. there is really no excuse for this, for phuket province has the infrastructure and enforcement to handle the job. the problem is that nobody [including me] follows the 'laws'. red, yellow, flashing yellow lights, etc. etc. are regularly disregarded. helmet, what is that? speed limit is governed by speedometer readout. it's crazy.

my back road journey takes me north up yaoworat rd. until it bottoms out, i hang a left and minutes later i'm zipping by tesco lotus. the next 8 km are unencumbered, potholed, water buffalo lined roadways at high speeds. i pass two traffic lights and i am at the base of my biggest opponent on the island - patong hill.

if you look at patong hill on a map it looks like a scribble. i mean like, triple successive s turns on each side, some banked the wrong way [i knew something was fucked up but didn't realize this until reading stickman's column this week]. imagine heading down a 10% grade into a hairpin turn, that is banked the wrong way. so much for good infrastructure. adding to the mayhem are diesel trucks that regularly spatter oil from their tailpipe, thai teenagers breaking the land speed record, and the eighty five year old thai man on an eighty two year old bike complete with sidecar, family of five, and 3 'out-of-round' wheels. upon reaching the apex of the hill everyone beeps three times in reverence to the buddhist temple, startling the 7 or so stray dogs who are sleeping all over the generous 20 inch shoulder.

downhill towards patong is certainly the most dangerous part of the trip. blind curves, rocks, cars, trucks, buses make me think the safest way down is to get off the hill as fast as possible. upon exciting the hill it is good to keep in mind that every falang you see driving, except me, is pie eyed. fact!!!!!!!!

i backroad it into patong central as well going straight off the hill onto phisit karani road to nanai road to soi sansabai where i am at the center of exactly where i need to be. i park the bike and jump. the music stops. i stand there in a daze for a moment and think about how many things could have just gone wrong over the furious 18 kilometers.

i smile for a second and feel really good.

that is what i love about thailand. this place is magical. i first visited because of the girls. i returned because when i got home something was missing. i finally moved here because, more often than not, i feel good, happy, content......

this place makes me feel like i'm thirteen again, and that friend is priceless.

as i make my move to the rock hard another song starts playing....

'love me one time baby, could not speak,
love me one time baaaaby, yeah my knees got week,
but love me two times, yeah, lasssssts me all through the week,
love me two times i'm goin' awaaaaaay...........'

'love me two times' -- the doors

Just back from Phuket.....

Most have been said before (on this thread and its archive) but here's a little to be added:

Star Wars: Lot of girls (1000 and up). If you are older than 16 you will hate the degenerated (techno?) music.

Daytime: Some girls in the off Bangla sois can be had for 500+200 BF from noon. Freelancers on Bangla: 1000. Christin MP: 1800/2200. Not as bad as said elsewhere on this this thread (but cannot be compared to BKK and CM).

Nighttime: 1000 ST, 1000-1500 LT (+2-300 BF). From 1-2 AM: 500 on the junction area Bangla, Rath-U-Thit and San Sabai.

Still many girls ready for the GFE.

SARS: Only a few masks on airport. Didn't see one in Patong.

Hotel: Plenty of good rooms from 600. Try Sand Inn at 800. Beats PS 1050 and Expat 1090.

GoGo: If you have been to Nana and Cowboy you will find gogo's in Patong - including Rock Hard - quite boring.

Drinks: 60-110. Food: Expensive. Let your teerak take you to thai restaurants in the outskirts.

Tuk-tuk: 100 anywhere in Patong. MC-taxi: 20-40.

That's all... (time to sleep alone for some weeks :()

ManOnTheStreet,

Near my home is a bridge that banks the wrong way. And every year at first frost the municiple-slow-workers show up (after the first accidents) to put up a sign: Slippery when frosty.
Resurfacing is, of course, out of the question. Imagine them spending property tax on something useful...

You seem to take the same route from Phuket Town to Patong that I always take. My trouble is: I a-l-w-a-y-s get lost on the way back in to PhuketTown. After 15 or so visits I still haven't figured the town's one-way road plan, or 'plan' rather, out.

'But love me two times, YEAH, Lasssssts me all through the week'
That reminds me of my first Phuket visit. I had that sweet taste of pussy on my lips for days. Man, she was g:D:D:D:Dd! That first night the Maitre'd ( or is a female maitre'd a maitresse'd???) of the top floor restaurant at the Sinthavee made a pass at me in the elevator: 'Goos time, fai tousan Baht', she said. I pretended not to understand her Thenglish, knowing that the girl with the best tasting pussy ever would be waiting down the hall on the third floor. B500, all night!

During Mar 17-24 I spent great time in Patong Beach. Amongst other things I took a look on the after 2am action in Soi Sansabai. One night I was approached by a good-looking, maybe in the mid-twenties, well-breasted girl. Sorry, but forgot her name. She told me that she would regularly work at Christins and offered me a private body massage with BJ and Fuck in her appartment for 2000 Baht. Unfortunately she did no bargain. From what I know her offer was quite pricey. Furthermore, I was in doubt about my safety if I would follow an unknown girl to an unknown spot. So, in the end I refused her offer.

My question now is whether her offer was a fake or not ? Had anybody of you got such a private body massage ?

- dropping ST and MP after 3 days

- starting to take care of her (what do I pay HER for?; joe_zop - who has a heart - will understand me)

- accepting no boom boom (at all: no ST or MP) when tiirak had period

- let the plane to Hat Yai leave without me because of missing tiirac

- buying gold

- repurchasing the same gold from a pondshop

- letting her (20 yo, no drivers licence: only drive waterbuffalo in Chon Buri) rent a car with my passport: girl crash, falang drunk, Thai police, 4 hours Thai discussions: falang ajarn (respect to mut showing university card) able not pay more than 18000 (started 60'), other driver go buy Mekong, everybody happy (sic)

- thrusting her (not really, but wanting to) even if I got several proofs that she is lying

- looking into TG melting eyes and feel her shivering body (TG flat on top boom-boom-ing me (how do you know what is what is not?)) thinking of love 25 years ago

- calling my job from Karon Beach saying I am sick and have to cancel lectures (in order to stay longer).

I have now called my pension fund: if I stop working now I will get a pension of B 60.000 a month. After two divorces I still have the equvivalence of 4 mill. Baht in the bank. I will stash 3 of them with my brother (who will not give me a Baht but only send my ticket home to the embassy).

I have booked my next ticket primo may (just after exam time) with the intention to go down the drain the GFE way. The firmness, the color, the smile, the feeling of the skin and the 'Khaa' have left me with no other alternatives.

When I am broke and unhappy and should be joining 'Loosers beyond AA' I will go Cambodia .....

Yours humbly (I should be expelled from the board...)

Thanks Freeler.......

You're a good man. Thanks to you I have got my first B 500 fuck (Thai minimum salary for working 10 hours a day is B 170 ... so I now have to admit your pricing policy has a certain realism......)

I am going to - because I want to loose my jai dii and become a bit more realistic (and even cynical) - go there and let this little thing fuck me (in the non sexual way). I also know it probably will not last long before I go back FFF. I just have to see if there is any dream I haven't still pursued......

If I know myself right I will put in a few days in BKK first just to get the needed distance ....

And I havent sent money to her mother yet :D

Umm, wait a moment -- is this true? The same guy who was worried about getting quarantined for SARS and almost called off his trip ends up cancelling the lectures he says he can't afford to miss? Philo, time to take a step back! I certainly understand GFE and the desire to take care of your chosen tilak, but my version of GFE, whether it's in LOS or in real life, doesn't mean being completely taken advantage of by a 20-year-old.

I say there's nothing wrong with being a fool, as long as you manage to be a happy fool, but that doesn't sound like the prescription you've laid out here.

Thankfully, I read a high degree of silliness in your reply, so I suspect you're having fun with us.

Dear joe_zop, I am not......

I have - aged 47 - realised that my 3 tours in 6 months have completely fucked up my ordinary western thinking....

Of course this girl is not important (I tried to call her tonight: no answer > with other falang) - I am just fucking tired of just fucking starfishes....

I am now going to learn Thai, and I want to live with a TG for some time. This girl is perfect - beautiful, lazy, using every towel (sic) and always want to sleep...... After I discovered that she has a boyfriend from Finland (telephone rang in a beauty salon where she had her nails done - hairdresser 'opened telephone' - everything was in english, cannot talk now, call you later.......) she even showed no embarrasment talking 'Love you darling, miss you to mut' to him while in my arms. Phom chawp maak........

I have to loose my romantic view of human nature..... this **** shall be paid good to help me through the experience....

Anyway - I cannot se myself fucking or loving any white cow anymore - it's only my fear that has kept me from leaving a meaningless job teaching greedy MBA-wannabes math and stat.....

I'm fucking quitting - and soon I'll leave this girl too; I am not hooked beyond reason ........ I just cannot anymore imagine a week without a perfectly shaped ass ........

Philo,

So you're a math-a-magician.
You should have done your math instead of your philo routine: add up one and one, figure out the odds and what not.
And there is still some more math to be done: How long will 60thou a month + 4 mil really last you in retirement?
Don't forget the occasional accident, a tilak who runs away with 'your' possessions, medical bills and the trips home for funerals, a fine or bribe every now and then. And more.
What are the odds of staying healthy and sound of mind?

I have seen a few too many people who had it all wrong. Some went home just in time. Some more died.

You can practice Thai and learn all about the country by traveling like you planned to do: Phuket, Krabi, HadYai, Nakhon Si Thammarat and back to Phuket.
And have two tilaks a day to get your load away.
And be happy during and ever after.
Come to Thailand and enjoy. (And go home!)

BTW Have you solved the Phuket airport transit mystery for us? Is the B60 van still there?

Hmm, sounds like this should be moved to the "Thai Women" thread, but hey, if you can manage to perfect monger life until you die and be happy with it more power to you. I spent time with a couple of guys in northern Thailand who approach things that way -- knowing and accepting that their companions are only putting up with them for the money and are always angling for something better (these guys were both gay, but the equation's the same.) That's their life, and while they go through fits of melancholy over it at times (and also confess that at times it bothers them to know that they Thais they're keeping house with actually generally disrespect and despise them) they also happily head out on the prowl for the next candidate.

I don't think I could manage it, personally. It's fun for a while, and heaven knows there's a lot that's damned attractive about sleeping with beautiful women who want to help you flush your money down the toilet, but I don't know that I'm interested in completely losing "my romantic view of human nature" since it's taken me a fair while to get a decent balance between that and the completely cynical perspective I'd also had.

I suggest on your next trip you might want to spend some time hanging with some of the ex-pats in the Kingdom to see how being there over time has affected them. There are always some interesting stories there, if nothing else.

the b 60 bus i could not find... sorry.

concerning everything else - i don't want to last healthy in body and mind. i think you (that means me) are already emotionally damaged if you fuck girls for money. as i have started to do. on the other hand - i cannot see what western protestant monogameus hard working philosophy (read weber) can add to my (already miserable) life anymore......

if you want to - save your money for yuour grandchildren and book yourself a bed in a home for old people - i have to break out - and i have to do it now.

what made the real differnce was (your, i guess) link to the pattaya paper's articles on the two americans who comitted suicide.......

I had two sessions with a girl from Christin two weeks ago. Patong is small, so I met her on the street the day after the second session in the MP. I invited her to dinner but it ended up I was given food in her room. Where? On the top floor on the building adjacent to Christin! Many of the girls live there... and it seemed perfectly safe to me.

If you're willing to pay 2000 in the night, ask her where she lives, and if you don't feel comfortable with it, go by oil/soap/whatever in 7/11 and take her to your hotel ....

Or get her number and meet her during working time at the MP (1800/2200).

Your post reminded me of a girl in Christens (from a year ago). Her number is 8 and she is very light skinned and is absolutely beautiful. She doesn't like smiling at customers from the fish bowl but she does smile outside it (beautifully!). Anyone know if she still works there ? I had a very enjoyable time with her. One of the best.

She alone is worth the trip out to Phuket. :)

Cheers.

jackdaniels.......

I was treated by another girl, and I (regrettably) cannot remember whether I saw your #8 in the fishbowl.

Patong is cha-cha and I guess you will find her again (the girls I got to know there clearly stated that BKK has no beach, (ergo) they find no reason to leave Patong which they like maak maak (and if I may add: same same me)).

Philo,

Thanks for your info. It was my first trip to Patong and based on the many postings here I thought you could make a real bargain after 2am in Soi Sansabai. So, considering the price of 2000 Baht she wanted for a private body massage with fuck there is no much difference to the regular price quoted at Christins.

But is it your opinion that in private I would have gotten a far better service from her ?

Philo

I was in Phuket, Thailand, in February 2003.

I'd read about Christin massage on WSG. It's also advertised on the tourist maps for Patong. It's very easy to find on a wide well-lit main road, a big building with a neon sign on the front.

You go up stairs to the first floor to a bar where you get a drink and study the girls sitting in the fishbowl. There were 40-50 behind a glass wall, all good lookers in the range of 18-30 years old. I told the manager I fancied number 7; he took me to the booth to pay 1800 bahts and the girl came out and took me to the lift upstairs.

There was a whole corridor of big rooms, just like a quality hotel. We went into one and she told me to sit on the sofa, while she turned on the water to fill a big bath. She stripped off naked and came and sat on my knee. She told me she was 23 and came from Bangkok.

Once the bath was full she motioned me to take all my clothes off and get into the bath where she sat behind me with a big sponge, washing me carefully and sensually all over with particular attention to my vital parts.

Then she laid a plastic inflatable mattress on the tiled floor and I lay face down. She covered me with foam and then started the soapy massage. Not with her hands but first with her breasts, lying on my back and after a bit sat astride me and used her crutch. After some minutes of this delightful treatment I could not help turning over and she gave me the best-ever hand job: I nearly burst!

After a rinse down we got onto the bed and she rang for a beer for me and a soft drink for her. She turned on the TV and we watched Thai boxing for a bit till I began to regain my strength. She slipped a condom just onto me and then used her mouth to push it fully into position and kept going. Once I was good and hard I turned her round and screwed her doggy fashion, another enormous cum.

She took me back to the bath area and washed us both down.

I gave her 300 baht tip which seemed to make her happy.

There is a soapy massge in Phuket Town, so a couple of days later I decided to go there and got into a taxi. The driver said it was more expensive than Christin's and the girls were not as good so I went back there.

This time the girl said she was 20 and from Chiang Mai in the north. Not quite as good a sex machine as the first visit but definitely a treat!

sanuk in phuket town

i miss my beloved bangkok but am determined to enjoy myself in phuket. at first i really hated it here but in the last couple of months i have come to enjoy myself. it certainly is the 'easy' life down here in phuket.

phuket town is neither dynamic, nor is it anything like, patong, a '*****house' of a 'village' located 18 km west. don't get me wrong i have come to love patong but living and working in phuket town means i spend most of my time there.

while there exists a small backpacker contingent forever 'passing through' to phi phi most of the tourists staying here are budgeted visitors, families, couples, guys who make runs to patong occasionally, and people like me who work here. there is always a demand for native english speakers at the schools, and the phuket gazette seems to always have a few 'falang' job options advertised. they are building things at an astonishing rate in phuket town, everywhere you look there is some type of construction going on.

things are about as expensive in phuket town as they are in bangkok. an apartment in phuket town will set you back anywhere from 3000 baht to 12,000 baht. with a wide range of amenities offered in falang and thai areas. while street food doesn't compare in quantity to bangkok there are many restaurant settings where 30-40 baht goes a long way. phuket town is not by any means large but it's one way street set up and lack of a tall building for orientation make it kind of a maze. when i first got here i would ride around in circles with no idea how to get home. the nightlife starts late in phuket town. a bar that is not crowded at 10:00 pm could be packed at 10:45pm. although here is no 'girl bar' or 'gogo' scene like in bangkok or patong there does exist some really wacked out places to find girls. my drink of choice is singha so i only quote it's specific price. these are not the only venues but a good start to locating what you need every now and then......

brothels

the siam hotel
the siam hotel is kind of an 'underground' brothel. show up there and find a bunch of sad and lonely girls sitting around the hallways in plastic chairs. the doors to nearby hotel rooms are open inviting you to partake, but the girls don't seem to be excited about the prospect. a high pressure tout will soon be on top of you trying to force you to get on top of one of them, 300-1000 baht depending on your 'newbie' factor.

personally i cannot have sex with a girl that doesn't want to talk, smile, or generally be in a good mood. i have visited there a couple of times but only for the curiosity factor. generally i am not a 'brothel guy'. there are so many different types of 'girl' venues it seems a shame not to experience all of them. perhaps i will return and write up a report.

siam hotel 13/15 phuket rd., a.muang [076] 224543 28 rooms 150-200 baht/night

thanon poonpon soi 11
known to everyone as 'soi sipet' are eight of the grungiest brothels known to mankind. the asshole who dubbed phuket 'the pearl of the andamen' obviously never visited soi sipet. soi sipet sits kitty-corner from the 7-11 on thanon poonpon and extends all the way to thanon takua pa. it quite fittingly bottoms out right near a catholic church. not far at all from fever corner [but more on that later].

it took me a month and a half to find this place. i hate being 'taken to' or 'shown' a place. i like to hear about it and go it alone. that way i don't inherit anyone's reputation and price range. once i found the place i had to kind of laugh as it was right under my nose the whole time.

the accommodations are reminiscent of what you find in mae sai [north thailand], koh kong [cambodia], and even phnom penh [cambodia, km11]. the girls there make the siam hotel crew look a great deal more appealing. once again i don't really enjoy 'brothel-shagging' so admittedly my opinion is just that, a somewhat negative opinion. the touts here are more aggressive coming out on to the soi and actually trying to stop you on your motorbike. the going rate is 200-500 baht per hour depending on your newbie status and pigeon thai abilities. each brothel has anywhere from 4-15 girls working at a time. the first time i was there i thought it was a bus station as i looked in and saw 15 girls in a neat row of plastic chairs all sitting and staring blankly at a tv. make sure you bring a condom as just about every brothel in thailand uses those 'itty-bitty silver foil with purple thai script' packaged condoms [read: breakable condoms]. in fact park the motorbike at 7-11 grab a singha, some rubbers and walk down soi sipet. should you leave the bike outside the brothel i am not to sure that it will be there when you get back.

you are paying by the hour so be aware if your 'date' takes fifteen minutes in the shower you have only 45 minutes of bang time.

one great thing about soi sipet is that everyone knows it as 'soi sipet' and they know exactly what goes on there. whenever i am in conversation with 'non-bargirl' thais and they ask me where i live i reply "soi sipet" as deadpan as possible. it always prompts an odd hesitation that lingers until i crack a smile. ummm, perhaps i will return and write up a report.

thanon poonpon soi 11 is located across the street from the 7-11 on thanon poonpon.

pink lady
there are five pink lady venues in phuket town. while some are connected some operate under the same name and are not affiliated. hard to classify these as anything but a 'gentleman's club'.

okay, you walk into a pink lady and see a house band performing in a 'loungy' environment. empty couches litter the floor and provide you with a good look at 50 or so girls behind a bar, wearing what can only be described as prom gowns. singha beer varies in price throughout the pink lady's going for 150 baht to a whopping 375 baht. yes no misprint there 375 baht for a 12 oz. bottle of singha.

the most expensive of the pink lady's is below the metropole hotel, pink lady chamois. after finding out that it was 375 baht for a singha i beat it out of there quickly. pink lady cafe 2002 is located on thanon phang nga just east of it's intersection with thanon montri. they have two bays of girls and at least 75 working every night. prices there are 2800 baht for short time [2 hours] and includes room accommodations at either the metropole hotel or tavorn grand plaza. it isn't hard to figure out that these clubs service the wealthy thais, chinese, and japanese who happen through. i won't be making an effort to visit again for 2800 baht short time just isn't my cup of tea.

it makes me a little uncomfortable to sit there gawking at the girls knowing that there is no way i am going to be 'doing the business'. should you want to visit a pink lady go to the pink lady club located in the soi right next to o'malleys irish pub. there is separate downstairs lounge where you can check out a really sexy lounge singer. should you want to check out the girls head on upstairs. while this isn't really a 'brothel' it isn't a message parlor so i included it in this section.

bars/clubs

phuket town is loaded with bars that seem to be always on the brink of going out of business. one thing is for sure. whoever figures out nightlife here is going to make a buck. people are still flocking to the island, and construction of new buildings continues at a dizzying rate.

phuket town has a well defined upper / middle / lower class. there are a good number of young men and women whose parents can afford to send them to university, own businesses, or own land. in other words the majority of the young ladies walking around phuket town are not working girls. this really isn't odd coming from falang-ville, it is the norm. what you may find odd is that 'punter's mentality' really needs to be adjusted when trying to hook up in phuket town clubs. i usually operate on the assumption that 'she is not a prostitute'. rest assured that if you take a girl from a club she will immediately consider herself your girlfriend and an inseparable aspect of your holiday/life. being specific about your intentions up front can save you a major hassle. while a good portion of the clubs/bars here 'totally suck' a few are busy and provide above average freelance options:

jammin'
perhaps the busiest nightspot in town, jammin' caters to people just in for the week, local thais looking to show status with a bottle of johnny black, and expats. a live dj spins trendy techno and hip hop between sets where 'the jammin band' is featured. the band does a good job. the bass player and drummer are quite skilled; however, they only have about twenty five songs in their repertoire and it is way too loud. some of their songs are to my liking, some are boy band crap. basically if you go their 3 nights in a row the songs begin to overlap. they even do vanilla ice.

yet another disappointment is that they shit-canned their 'super' hot lead singer, archie. i was especially sorry to see her go as she made things bearable. the new singer is great at what she does but not nearly as hot.

jammin' is pricey for phuket town with 90 baht singhas. it is always crowded. if you are going get there before 10:30 and find a seat at the bar. by 12:00 midnight there will be 10-12 lovelies lining the area just in front of the barstools. they will be shaking it and flashing smiles, sticking together in small packs, and will make themselves available to the right man.

there are some great talent here occasionally but it seems to be a real pain in the ass to hook up with the 'circus of jammin' all around you. should you get there late don't make the mistake of going upstairs just dig in and find a spot at the bar downstairs. i usually go there once a month because 'hey, i haven't been to jammin' in a while'. i usually sit there for a drink or two and smile at girls with no intention of hooking up. i figure that if i play my cards right i am bound to bump into one of these girls outside the place sometime, where one can actually have a conversation, and i'm right. phuket town is a small town.

go to jammin', which by the way is festooned with [my hero] bob marley regalia [but don't expect to hear any bob] and by all means have a good time. freelancers can be acquired with rates varying from 500 - 1000 baht short time to 1000-2000 baht longtime. there are definitely freelancers working jammin' every night. if you are here for one night and need a quality girl, jammin' is the spot. it is a great place for one or two visits when 'stuck' in phuket town.

jammin' is located on thanon bangkok near where it dead ends on thanon east cho fa

timber hut
same as jammin' except worse band. sometimes they have an falang who sings. he is without a doubt the worst performer i have ever seen. additionally the food sucks. same deal freelance talent available but interspersed throughout a large contingent of falangs and thais. note that at both jammin' and timber hut the thai cutie who is beaming at you could be right next to her rowdy, drunk boyfriend. it is always good to make sure before you make a move in phuket town. i try to avoid timber hut as often as possible.

timber hut is located on thanon yaowarat just north of thanon dibuk [or where it turns into a one way street].

kor tor mor
the odd dynamic that exists in phuket town for horny punters is more in evidence in kor tor mor than anywhere else. there are very few falangs hanging out at kor tor mor. i am usually the only one. upon walking in you will be scrutinized and / or studied carefully.

my suggestion is to be on your best behavior. smile a lot and don't be too aggressive staring down any ladies. the crowd here arrives on motorbike, bmw, mercedes benz, and honda mpv's. they drink bottles of expensive whisky and dance and sing along to thai music played on an acoustic guitar with an accompanying drummer. the guy singing and playing the guitar is awesome and worth going to see. between sets they play a mix of reggae, hip hop, and techno/house. the band quits at about twelve midnight and at that time the place is packed and the dj takes over.

lots of girls dancing with their boyfriends and single girls dancing in gaggles. you really have to make sure you are dealing with a single girl here if you don't want to be perceived as a total shithead, and get into a nasty situation. these are not working girls, but some are more than intrigued in a well dressed, well mannered falang. it isn't too hard to spot.

if you offend someone at kor tor mor their will be a definite unified reaction. i find this a little refreshing as i learned a long time ago to never assume that the girl smiling at me is a prostitute. the bar has a great interior, all cement, good music, good food, and 60 baht singhas make it worth multiple visits. by the way kor tor mor means bangkok.

kor tor mor is located on chana charoen rd. just east of the mcdonald's / robinson's area.

michael's bar
michael's bar is a tiny little spot with an older clientele. they have the most forgiving pool table in the world and there are usually 2 or 3 cuties working behind the bar. this is not a bar you want to visit if you are intent on barfining. there are no beer bars in phuket town. if you want to relax, have a few beers, and chit chat with a hottie then this is a good place.

while the girls do not outwardly solicit, should you prove yourself to be an ok person you can get lucky here. if you shag one of these girls you will be assuming the role of boyfriend as soon as you make penetration. the girls working at michael's come from all over thailand: mae sai, chang mai, korat, etc. but they seem to have a revolving door employment policy as most of the girls don't last.

it's not that busy of a place but it is located just below the on on hotel so it does get some traffic. an indian restaurant is opening up right next door. 50 baht bottled beer happy hour is in effect everyday. michael, an amiable chap, can be found at the bar sipping a gin and tonic

michael's bar is located on thanon takua pa where it intersects with thanon rasada.

bar tango
tucked away on soi phat thana sits bar tango, a brand new bar, complete with sparkling glassware, outside bar, inside bar, 3 owners, and a severe lack of customers. anywhere from 4-5 girls are working there at any given time. some are 'working' while others are just working. after a couple of visits it will be obvious. one is really, really sexy.

bar tango shares it's customer base with michael's so if you are 'seeing' a girl from michael's and you 'stray' with a girl from bar tango it will become public information quickly. these bars fill up on the 15th and 30th of every month when social security / government pension checks are received. i have only been to bar tango twice but i am always welcomed by the owner, peter. the main problem with this bar is that it is hard to find.

take thanon ranong toward patong beach and take the first left after crossing thanon patipat. look for a huge neon sign. you can't miss it......hahahahaha....good luck.

o'malley's irish pub
located on thanon montri o'malleys was the first bar i visited in phuket town. manager brett is also the house band leader and he is accompanied by chris on the fiddle, tor on drums, and derrick on bass. brett and chris are really talented and love jamming with anyone who shows up with an instrument. so bring your guitar, harmonica, sax, whatever.

the rest of the staff include ally, a voluptuous blond from oz, em, and the oh so lovely 'nok' and sister 'wrin'. bar owner 'fred' is swedish. he has lived on the island for over six years and read, writes, and speaks thai fluently, also works as a dive master, and is a great person to know. most of the underground info i have came across early in my stay on phuket was gleaned from fred.

o'malley's serves food and has competitive beer prices [70 baht singha's], happy hours daily, and free pool. the pool table at o'malleys should not be missed. it is without a doubt the worst pool playing environment ever!!! it lends charm to the bar as everyone has to be involved in the game. bad cues, small untrue balls, and a huge, huge table.

should you be taking a tuk-tuk to o'malleys just say 'irish pub'. clientele varies from teachers, hardcore sexpats, and tourists. some nights there are 8 or 9 freelancers in attendance while other nights there are none. note: anything can and will happen at o'malley's.

o'malley's irish pub is located on thanon montri just north of thanon dibuk.

karaoke

there are two types of karaoke spots in phuket town. 'high brow' and 'low brow'.

'high brow'

big neon signs, gaggles of leggy thai hotties standing outside sporting sequined minis, and white platform boots. four in a row on each side of the thanon poonpon soi 9. there are several others such as 'pegasus' on the southside of the circle at poonpon plaza.

it's kind of simple. you go in and buy a drink and watch some real hot and not so hot thai girls sing the classics. invite one to sit with you and share your large inexpensive singha [90 baht]. she might let you put your arm around her, she might snuggle right up to you, and then again she might not. when it his her turn to sing she will depart for a couple of numbers. the dek serve will approach and ask if you want to buy her flowers. they come in 100, 200, 300, and 500 baht bundles. this is how she makes money, she gets the majority of the flower purchase.

there are major face issues at hand here as if you do not buy her flowers it will result in a loss of face for her, and you will be sitting alone for the remainder of your time in the karaoke house. should you buy her flowers it does not guarantee that she is going home with you. should she ask you where you are going later 'pai nai? it is a good indicator that she knows the deal.

james cafe on soi 9 is the top notch karaoke destination in my opinion. i like listening to the thai classics every now and then and i have found that most thai girls sing pretty well. there is a nice beer garden connected to james cafe that serves tasty food and is lively. most of the karaoke spots are almost empty which makes me wonder how they stay in business. there are few if any falangs inside so your visit will be greeted with quite a bit of stares and curiosity. visiting the high brow karaoke establishments can be a little more expensive than the bars and clubs so keep an eye on your bill.

james cafe is located on thanon poonpon soi 9. it runs between thanon poonpon and thanon takua pa.

'low brow'

small ramshackle buildings adorned with christmas lights complete with a tv, microphone, and karaoke jukebox. cheap beer, homemade tables, and cute girls. places like this dot the thai only areas near koh siray island on the east most part of phuket. technically you are leaving phuket town to visit these venues. there are also a couple places in phuket town proper, but i tend to enjoy the non-falang approved places.

this is not the place to be drunk, wear a nice watch, or pull a wad of 1000 baht notes out of your pocket. i love the dive bars in neighborhoods of my native nyc so i visit these places regularly. your visit will be a major curiosity and in some cases it can really rub the thai men in attendance the wrong way. i don't recommend trips to these places unless you either speak thai, or can handle yourself. you can find a really sexy girl at one of these places and there is no flower buying, barfining, or negotiating 500 baht will cover longtime and grant you a big smile. just watch your ass. these places exist all over thailand so there is no real need to go in depth.

sapan hin
south of phuket town is sapan hin. home to thai boxing every friday, a concert hall, and a carnival type atmosphere with a ferris wheel, games, bumper cars, food vendors, and the closest thing phuket town has to a diddle bars. i don't know the names as they are all in thai script but i have visited each. it's basically buy a girl a drink and you can sit and 'play'. there are at least three venues like this but let me be very clear about something: falangs are at great risk at sapan hin from 12:00 midnight to 6:00 am. [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) some one off, get a shank in the kidney. pull up on a brand new honda dream, get a shank in the kidney, pull out a wad of 1000 baht notes, get a shank in the kidney.

i go to sapan hin quite a bit. food is really cheap and delicious. i find that as i get to know thai's and see them at sapan hin they appreciate the fact that i am not scared to be there. a lot of thai families go there to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. it's not all bad but my mom used to say 'nothing good happens after 12 midnight!!!!" concerning this place she is spot on. the bars can be really dangerous as can just being in the general area. the gangs that populate sapan hin are hardcore and they do not discriminate in who they try to muscle. don't go alone and don't get too drunk and allow yourself to be taken advantage of. with that said, enjoy!

find thanon phuket and head south. you know you are at sapan hin when someone pushes you off your motorcycle and takes off on it.

massage parlors
there are plenty but they are pricey unless accompanied by a thai. go in as a lone falang and you are quoted anywhere from 1500 - 2300 baht for full service. enter with a thai and you get the same thing for 500 baht. these are the same fishbowl type place that are so popular in bangkok. the tavorn grand plaza, metropole hotel, pearl hotel are just a few. they actually do provide good service but selection is not that great. i would recommend a trip to patong's christie's massage over the aforementioned phuket town equivalents, but why go there when 2300 baht can buy five short times in patong beach after 2:00 am.

after hours

fever corner
fever corner is a 'suped-up' beer garden that is dead until 2:30 pm and packed from 3:00 pm until sun up. the setting is more suited to a group as there is no real bar area for a 'lone' falang to sit. taking up a table by yourself will really make you stick out. lots of girls here, in fact every girl in town. don't make the mistake of ordering food for when it is busy as it will take much longer than the longest wait at bangkok's grace hotel. working girls sometimes hang out in the parking lot after 2:00pm and wait for targets to arrive when the bars close. fever corner is not the place to be shy. find a couple of girls sitting together and ask them if you can sit down. buy two large singha's to share and scope the scene. if you should find a girl beaming back at you and she isn't at your table just make your way to the bathroom, if she follows make plans or exchange mobile numbers short time 500 baht, long time 1000 baht. don't bother going there before 1:00am. south of fever corner are three different beer gardens. should a girl you meet take you there she is hiding from another falang lover. 90 baht large singha's

fever corner is located below the intersection of soi talingchan and thanon takua pa.

gaiton

gaiton is the resident dive discoteque that plays annoying thai techno at uncomfortable levels. they stay open until the police arrive and everyone scrambles out. there is never a problem but it is a rather sudden event. gaiton caters to young and not so affluent thais and is fun every once in a while. you really need to be careful at gaiton as their are definitely **** girls dancing away to music only a sixteen year old could appreciate. this stops me from taking girls that i have not met before. young drunken thai men are not dangerous at gaiton but they are overly gregarious in their 'repeated' 'chok dii khraps'. if you are over the age of twenty eight you will find gaiton to be a hoot, but you may not return. 60 baht ice cold singha's.

gaiton is located below the intersection of soi talingchan and thanon takua pa opposite fever corner.

sinthawee hotel

the sinthawee hotel runs an after hours that caters to a more mature, affluent crowd. i enjoy the ambiance that separates it from a place like gaiton. one bad aspect is that there are not a lot of single 'available' girls here. sometimes there are 5 or six sometimes there none. hard to predict. when there are girls there they run a little pricey compared to some of the bars i have mentioned. this is yet another venue where you can really make an ass out of yourself and ruin someone's night by assuming. one night i saw a drunken punter approach a table babble something in thai and get ejected violently down the stairs. this is a great place to bring a girl. i enjoy going there for a late night 90 baht singha wind down.

short time accommodations

suk sa bai hotel - thanon thepkrasattri rd. #076-216208
the suk sa bai is no doubt the best deal in town for the budget traveller. at 180 baht per night [negotiable] you get a fan room, private bathroom & shower, sit down toilet, secure parking for your rented motorbike, and a location that is within walking distance to several restaurants and nightspots. no phone, hot water, or tv. this is a shortime hotel. yes don't be surprised if at 2:00 am there is alot of traffic, johns with their prostitutes, going in and out, no pun intended. i happened on this hotel by mistake and can say it's clean, safe, and quiet. the people their are friendly and no one ripped off my camera, passport, and g4 powerbook which i cavalierly laid out in the open. what more can you ask for 180 baht in phuket. you can negotiate the price down for long stays [3000 baht per month]. ask for a room on the second floor as most overnight guests [read: non-shortime] will be there and it is much quieter. if your travels leave your budget constrained this is definitely the place don't even look anymore. no real backpacker crowd here.

suk sa bai hotel - thanon thepkrasattri rd. #076-216208

deluxe accommodation can be had in phuket town but since i don't stay in them i cannot comment. before you leave the bangkok airport, queue up to one of those tourist stands and get your info there, but first pull down your pants and insist they wear a rubber.

bkk - phuket

now that i regularly fly from bkk's don muang to phuket and back i have figured out some key info that i wish to donate to the braintrust i refer to as '*************.com'.

thai air flights to phuket leave from gates in the domestic section of don muang numbered 8, 9, and 10. they also depart from 19, 20, and 21. should you depart or arrive from the downstairs gates [8, 9, 10] you get the crapper of having to climb aboard a 'shuttle' bus to and from the plane.

this is a big pain in the ass and takes way more time than pulling up to 19, 20, and 21. basically if you are flying in or out of the domestic section of don muang and you have a gate on the ground floor you are bussing it dude! the tickets are the same price. all you have to do is try to find out the gate number and then purchase your ticket. it has worked for me twice [once with both bangkok airways and thai air].

enjoy phuket town on your next visit

Dammit, my upcoming TourOfDuty in the HolyLand is only a six weeks tour:(.
Certain things you describe are so spot on it's uncanny.

I was not at all exaggerating about the dangers of some of the areas in Phuket Town. I thought I should stress this after re-reading my post and chuckling through the directions to sapan hin. It's not the most dangerous place in the world, but the fool is taken advantage in Phuket as soon as he reveals his foolishness.

I'm going to Patong!!!!!

Manonthestreet,

'but the fool is taken advantage in Phuket as soon as he reveals his foolishness.'

So, anyone who ever took a taxi from PhuketTown to Patong 'because there is no bus' qualifies:).

Noplobrem
05-21-03, 20:04
Um, to my knowledge there is no bus. The tuk-tuk, taxi, minivan consortium has it locked down, completely.

Without a doubt private transportation in Phuket is more corrupt than anywhere in thailand. If you get off a plane at the airport just realize you are about to get fucked. Regardless of where you are going you are paying the same price.

The smart punter starts asking around on day one. Forms a relationship with transport people, uses the same guy[s], and gets the break upon leaving. The alternative is renting a motorbike [read: deathmachine] and going for it on your own.

note: I ride a motorbike everyday, but it's not a rental unit [read: deathmachine mak mak].

You can't help but get fucked to and fro the airport. Using the same guy [s] repeadedly will lessen the blow.

but enjoy it's only 10 bucks. You will get the hottest cinnamon girl you have ever seen for the same price.

There is a santheaw service from 9 to 5, but it takes an hour to get anywhere. Better to locate yourself near where you need to be, or have the balls to sack up and get a motorbike.

Manonthestreet,

I 'always' rent my Honda Dreammachine from an 'artgallery' on RasadaRoad. The brakes, lights and horn always work. The last couple of years the tank is always half full. Before then you had to find a filling station within 3 mins or walk!
Price, depending on the season, from B100-150 a day for two or three days.

Yes, indeed it appears that the B60 airport minivans have gone extinct.

An ancient Freeler post on PhuketTown taxidrivers:

<<By Freeler on Thursday, May 16, 2002 - 10:59 pm:

Phuket-town seems to have the worst kind of taxicreeps anywhere. Everything they say is a lie:
There are NO buses to Patong from P-town--in fact they run every half hour in the daytime,
there is NO market in P-town---In fact one is open almost 24 hours a day!!,
all the hotels in P-town are full or too expensive--in fact there are plenty rooms available and the top-end Sinthavee has a discount now at US$12 for a standard room.
This list could easily be ten times this long; please, help make this world a better place and dont give these assholes any business at all, thank you!
Oh, I was offered a B20 an hour taxitour of the island. Do I have to say I didnt bother? >>

The Ladyboy Experience (sic)

I've read a a lot of warnings - and I thought I was aware: maybe I am not fit for this game ......

After having a major fight with my (now ex-) GF I shared a bottle of gin with a sad and lonely dutchman (same as me except from the dutch-thing). When he fell asleep I went Soi San Sabai to look for a 500'er.

I was pissed, angry and lonely - and since I have always been fascinated by ladyboys, it ended up me inviting 5 ladyboys for dinner (3 AM). They took me to a restaurant open all night. Had a great time......

Woke up 7 AM. No cash (10000). No VISA (emptied for 50000). No passport. Wonder what they put in my beer.

And after a lot of hassle with the bank, the embassy and the Immigration Office (in BKK) I fucking was fined 500 for putting my cigarette in the pavement sewer.

I must admit that I envy MOTS a little bit for his poetic nonchalance, and I am a little bit sorry that I cannot ever make it in Phuket Town. I cannot risk being killed ........

But I don't give up.

Ouch, Philo, that's taking the glorious romantic journey down the drain a bit too far! I'd presume you will probably be covered on the Visa, since it was stolen, and while the passport is definitely a major hassle, if you can get out of a disaster like that only down 12000baht or so that's a reasonably good result, considering you could have ended up not waking up at all. Gotta be careful of ladyboys, most especially in packs -- they're not something we discuss here much for obvious reasons, but I've been told by different folks in several areas of LOS that there are a fair number of ladyboys connected with Thai organized crime, being major players in some areas, such as the drug trade in the north.

Just goes to show how dangerous it can be to go embark on such an adventure when drunk. How about posting the details of the aftermath, with the bank, embassy, etc., so guys here who haven't gone though it will have a sense of what's involved?

Glad you're okay.

i have to admit that when the developers sunk their teeth into the area surrounding karon they really treated the beach front property correctly. their is only one hotel on karon beach and it is 'nestled' in the southern corner [karon beach resort] leaving unobstructed beach access for all. the beach is long with perfect white sand, clean water, and the obligatory 'small' island just far enough away to invite a swim. when they turned their attention to the town they totally fucked everything up, really bad. a piecemeal of huge resorts, shantys, and shopfronts. so badly put together that the only thing i can compare it too is a novice webbuilders first crack at his 'free geocities hosted' site. complete with 35 blinking under construction signs. i hear a lot of people saying that phuket is already overbuilt and too crowded, looks like no one told the builders as they are breaking ground all over.

karon is adjacent to phuket. it is a small sleepy little beach town that would really kick ass if it weren't for the massive resorts that seclude their guests while making a big shitshow to the passerby. most in my opinion do not rate 5, 4, or even 3 stars, yet they attract visitors to the beach, the town, and to the girl bar scene. it seems there are only girl bars in karon, no go-go's, discos, or any other type of bar, for sanuk anyway.

my review covers what i have come to know as karon. an area small in size beginning at the traffic circle intersection of patak rd. east and patak rd. west [karon beach road] adjacent to the patong area and extending south to their bi-section of thai na rd and kata beach. an area not much bigger than 6 sq km. i base the area as karon simply by where the hotel names switch from 'karon beach' to 'kata beach'. this may not be the most accurate of boundaries so don't hold me to it. if one was to round up all of the girls working in karon and magically beam them to the grace hotel on a busy night it wouldn't really make a big impact in sheer numbers.

i have visited the karon nightlife scene a half a dozen times in high season and 3 times more recently in super-low-sars-season. i have to say that while it is incomparable to it's neighbor in patong, it can be fun. they are not the aggressive 'pull you into the bar' types, but rather out of the 'off the rice farm' last week 'i'm shy' mold. i took the time to speak to a good number of ladies in length, with no intention of barfining. most were bored and happy to have a falang at the bar. thats right 'a falang', as in one, at karon center, the flagship of 'bar girl activity in karon beach. while 9/11 sucked for tourism and the bali blast hit close to home, sars is crippling a good deal of small businessmen, errr, businesswoman here in karon.

once they have snagged a falang karon bargirls seem to be very territorial. one gets the feeling that most of these women get taken out for the gfe. the punters in karon don't seem to have the edge that their brothers in bkk and patong have. it's a small town so once the said punter has 'done the business' it is pretty easy for these girls to 'shadow' him. a few of the girls discussed this with me stating that they prefer to stay 'long time' meaning 'whole vacation' not just all night.

i also talked to a couple of guys. there seemed to be more than a few who had lost control of their situation and were letting it ruin their vacation. one who kept muttering, 'i can't get away from her', was especially irritating. play the victim by day, continue to shag her brains out all night long, only to wake up to a huge obstacle every morning.

q: when does 'up to you!' not mean 'up to you!'
a: when in karon beach, phuket.

if you have never been to thailand it is good to keep in mind that reality plays little part in the in superficial bar girl relations. you are able to meet a 'quality' person every now and then, but it takes a great effort and/or a shit load of luck. while there is no excuse for being an asshole, there is also no excuse for being taken advantage of. for the 'butterfly' visiting karon my advice would be to negotiate everything in advance, pay up, and have someplace 'important' to go every morning.

i've briefly summed up what i think of the town, the current mood, and some examples of what i have seen....so what fun can be had in karon?

north karon
just north of the traffic circle and along patak road east sit several venues that might just be your bag. once you get to patak soi 22, the buddhist wat, there isn't much of anything so confine your rambling to this area for the time being. just north of traffic circle on the south side of patak road east sits the gun bar, new friend bar, and suthin's kaffe house. these are perhaps the worst beer-bars on the face of the earth. new friend bar is the current holder of the record for 'ugliest katoey', ever!!!!!!

new friend bar - totally dominated by a crop of 'fresh off the rice paddie' girls. they are there every day and night barefoot and ready for action, usually watching a soap opera and awaiting the falangs that aren't coming. there are at least two cuties but no stunners. mr. ugly is unavoidable, but nice enough, and not bothersome once she/he realizes that it isn't going to happen. the decor is worth seeing as just about every sea creature known to mankind, endangered, extinct, or otherwise adorns the walls stuffed in lifelike poses. alternating between these effigies are pictures of the king making for an odd dynamic: giant sea turtle, king, king crab, king, puffer fish, king, etc. tables and chairs are all large slabs of teak and look kind of cool but are very uncomfortable. if you are in karon check it out but don't make a special trip.

suthin's kaffe house - 12 or so girls sitting outside and dancing away to boy band crap. pumping up a lot of energy into the street. step into the 'empty' bar and you are greeted by mamasan:

mamasan: 'what laby you wan'?
culturecypher: 'i just want a singha'
mamasan: 'no wan lady'?
culturecypher: 'mai, bia sing, kop khun khrap.' [no, just a singha beer, thanks]

the girls look in as if i have six heads wondering why i haven't made my selection. i sit alone making notes until finally the 'bar turd' joins me. i don't enjoy the whole 'make your selection, now!' way of doing business. i understand and deal with it when at a massage parlor, but i prefer the beer bars and go-go's where i can at least find a 'little' chemistry. i really don't enjoy visiting with the 'bar turd' and she gets the message soon enough and moves on. most girls here seemed annoyed with me and i was glad to be outta there after a couple big swigs on my singha. there were a couple of really sexy girls here. had i shown an immediate interest i am sure things may have worked out differently. the girls here were much better than in the new friend bar in sheer aesthetics.

across from the new friend bar is a small plaza with several 'upscale' beer bars. yes i know, upscale beer bar, oxymoron of the century. 6 bars form a clockwise semi circle as follows: 'bar with no name', 'skylight bar', schlusslicht bar & restaurant', 'c & m - yay bar', 'dimension bar', and 'the key bar'. this semi circle bottoms out at the whale resort and it is hard to figure out if some of the ladies here are offering services. the bars are appointed nicely, some offering food, they seem to be brand new, and are completely empty sans the occasional punter and over-balasted farang couple tsk-tsking the sanuk scene. they girls offer services at the key bar and there are a couple of winners there all day long. once again don't make a special trip.

walking north up patak road east 25 more yards you will happen upon yet another small crop of bars. they sit inside a larger plaza with a supermarket, several tailors, and the other obligatory shops offering goods that no one needs when at the beach. 'football bar', 'allies bar', 'clapton's bar', 'buzz bar', 'sunee's bon sai bar', 'belsch cafe' [sic], 'love n joy bar', and 'kon tai pub'. nothing really special here. the bars are complete with the usual craziness that accompanies the naughty nightlife scene in thailand: babies walking around in [CodeWord131] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord131) on the bar, drunken boisterous punters [yet too few], and lusty glances from fair and not so fair maidens. i was cornered in clapton's by an over aggressive homely lass that took such a liking to me that i have permanently penciled this strip off of my 'places to visit' list. she completely interfered with my research and caused a scene as i left to visit other bars, wailing and moaning. i have never experienced anything like this before. the plaza is big enough to support several squid, bbq, and som-tam motorcycle vendors. the girls from the bars come outside into the plaza and it kind of looks like there would exist a freelance scene here after hours. on two occasions i cruised by at 2-2:30am and it was slim pickens.

further up patak road east you will pass a nice temple, worth a daytime looksy, and continue on a 2-3 km stretch of deserted road to the center of karon. along the way you will pass 'angels' bar, big screen tv for football games, and several little karaoke/beer bars that have competitive rates and an ok selection of isaan farmgirls. when you come to your first intersection, luang poh chuang road you will be in front of the 'farang bar', 'asia bar', and the inappropriately named 'karma lounge'. asia bar and farang bar both make for an amusing visit, but don't expect to find the polished quality one might have come to expect when visiting a bangkok gogo bar. most of the bars on this section of road require at least a little bit of thai language abilities. expect to find three katoeys residing in karma lounge, no customers, and a good band on friday nights. the modern decoration of this lounge really clashes with the bars across the street making it an interesting corner. several freelancing ladyboys have realized this and work the street aggressively. my advice make a right turn and head down to karon center.

karon center
take luang poh chuang road all the way towards the beach and make a left turn. go about 100 meters and you will be in front of the crown jewel of karon sanuk activity. karon center is a small soi, actually two back to back, with about 20-30 bars [some already closed for low season] and about 80 girls working. it also boasts a severe lack of customers.

'why not bar, 'lady bar', 'b.s. bar', 'dengskt bodega', 'moon light bar', 'butterfly bar', 'wizard & mange bar', 'lita italian bar', 'shark area bar', 'flower night bar', 'my way bar', 'rosaalba bar', 'nong noi bar', 'kathaleeya bar', 'walhalla bar', 'marathon bar', 'orchid bar', and of course the '#1 bar'. hardly a threat to patong's business karon center does have a couple of real hotties working. while it was dead the girls seem to be in ok spirits and i have a good time whenever i visit. 'marathon bar' is strictly ladyboy, and there are several extremely [be careful] passable ladyboys working throughout karon center. adjacent to the main area is a smaller soi with a couple of venues: 'hotshot bar', 'black cat bar', 'white bar', 'friend bar', 'no name bar', 'tony bar', and several small restaurants where girls make themselves available.

some of the larger bars in these sois are closed, i expect more will be closed soon. i would recommend that you visit karon center. they have perhaps the best streetfood bbq on the island of phuket located right out front, and there are definite hotties ready to satisfy.

with the price of tuk tuk travel so expensive on phuket i wouldn't recommend karon as a sanuk destination. i have a motorbike and it is really easy to zip around from spot to spot. budget at least 500-600 baht to take a tuk tuk to all of the spots i have just laid out. the good news is that barfines are 200 baht across the board in karon, singhas 60-70 baht, heineken 70-80 baht, and in most places lady drinks cost the same amount as if you were buying it for yourself. additionally the 'karon inn cafe' has an 'all you can eat sunday brunch' for 99 baht that is most delightful after a hard night on the town in karon. if you are in phuket check it out, you can always head back to patong. consider it a diversion should you wear out your welcome in the soi's of bangla road. it is certainly the most activity on phuket outside of patong.

Although this probably should have been posted under 'General Info' here it is .....

PASSPORT AND VISA CARD (OR ...) GONE?

After having rented a car (why?: My GF wanted to go to a deserted beach for sex on the beach after I - not knowing she did not know the drink - the day before asked a waitress: 'You can make me sex on the beach?' - making my GF killing the waitress - etc. etc - TIT) I didn't bother to go to the hotel with my passport and VISA card. Definitely should have ...

The short version of the Ladyboys Fuck Farang story you will find below. I just want to add that the stuff was in a plastic bag inside my underpants :D

Called VISA 'homeland' to close card. Went to police. Police not interested - you are broke - they want to listen to a white cow who has lost her luggage only - she will tip them. Called bank. Bank say: Go Farmers Bank. Closed (time difference). Went next day. Had ID (drivers licence). Faxed to bank. Bank send B 60.000 by SWIFT. Total time: 37 hours.Total cost of telephone and fees: some B 4000. Airport: Even for domestic flights you have to have passport. 3 offices and 2 hours later having showed my police report 6 times and filled out 3 forms I can enter the plane for BKK. Embassy: Bring two passport photos and queue for 1 hour behind Thais wannabee bride, student, maiden ...... One hour later (I need to shit - my stomach is B 20 noodle soup and B 1500 Singha and Gordon's dry - and the embassy has no public toilet). Finally I get my 'Laisser Passer' (let pass) paper to get out of the Kingdom. But this is not all: You have to go to the Immigration Office (the embassy gives you a card with adress in Thai for the taxi) to get your entry visa details printed and stamped on the document. And there you have to go to an office on 4th floor - the elevator didn't work - to fill out 2 forms. Then you must go ground floor to make copies of poilce report and embassy papers. Back 4th. Deliver papers. Fill out this too. We need another copy. 10 officials. 2 working - the rest wath tv or do their hair or nails. 50 minutes later - a young australian girl crying out her heart for having her passport stolen got all the attention - you want to kill - nothing more has happened to your papers.................. Then the decorated female official make the last signature on the Laisser Passer paper. Then you fucking run clinging to your new document.

Outside Immigration Office you spit on the road: Pay 500. You smoke - ok - but if you do not take your cigarett to the litter bin: 500.

-----------------

Take the warnings seriously. Use deposit boxes, have cash and cheques as well as cards - take copy of your passport. And stay away from ladyboys (If you want to fuck one have your armed friend sitting by) :(

-----------------

I never thought I would turn out an auntie giving warnings on the net. But I still love Thailand ..........

Thanks, Philo -- though it's no fun to be an object lesson, your experience does help reinforce the message that it always pays to be careful. (Not surprising that the wheels grind so slowly -- there's nothing like giving a bureaucrat power over someone in distressing circumstances to make things slow to a crawl.) Personally, I only carry a copy and never my passport, which stays in the hotel safe, and comes out only if I need it for currency exchange or some other bank business, and then goes right back in. The few police I've had to deal with in LOS never have a problem with this. (I generally keep a copy of my passport hidden in each piece of luggage just in case, which also comes in handy if there's ever a need to prove ownership.) I never carry credit or ATM cards with me unless I'm going to use them for something -- they, too, stay locked up. My money gets carried in two separate stashes, one for just spending and pulling from and the other as a small reserve, and never more than a few thousand baht beyond what I'm going to spend while I'm out and about. Your experience is precisely why I tend to take along some money in travelers checks -- just to have flexibility in case something goes wrong.

A while back there was a post about some tourist in Pattaya and his Thai girlfriend being robbed on the beach of something like 60,000 baht in cash and more than double that on his credit card, and I could only think to myself, what kind of idiot carries 60k baht around with him? Even presuming that his "girlfriend" wasn't the one who set him up, anyone who carries that amount of cash around even at home is asking for trouble, not even considering how much money that is to the average Thai, and how enticing tourist areas are for crooks.

And, LOL, I'm gonna have to remember that "sex on the beach" bit -- a nice way to have yourself be on the right side of such a misunderstanding, with excellent potential side benefits...

Well, if you're going to manage to negotiate being an ex-pat, you'll certainly need to learn at a cheaper rate :) or your money won't last long. Hmm, with the Visa, rather than them observing you, it sounds more likely that they got you to provide them with the code while you were drugged out -- especially if you were given something like Rohypnol.

For what it's worth, I see nothing incompatible with being a romantic and taking sensible precautions: the hopeless part should be in the outlook, not the method. I freely admit to probably being far more a romantic sort than a hardcore monger type, and I've no desire to change that because it's worked for me, but I still look to cover my ass both physically and emotionally. Just because you believe in the possibility of walking on air doesn't mean you need to go jumping off tall buildings. :D

And I envy you your grand adventure, regardless of how it turns out, and wish you nothing but good luck and fortune!

Depends on where you are going to stay. Patong has a nice gym near the Paradise complex ( between Paradise and Soi Nam Yen). You pay about 1500 baht for one month. There is another one if you go into the second soi on your right from the famous 7-11 on Rat U Thit. I think that. I think that Dinghy referred to this part of Rat u Thit as Soi Ha Roy Baht.

And then there is ofcourse the famous place for workout Christine's! Don't forget to visit them.

I never stayed at Phuket Cabana or Patong Villa. Went to Phuket Cabana for dinner, nice fancy restaurant, but I am not sure if I like the hotel. I stayed at Club Bamboo 2 times. One time in a bungalow and one time the penthouse suite. Very nice place, girl friendly, but you need to rent a motorbike as they are about 10 min walking away from the center of the action.

Buzzz - thanks. Ended up booking patong villa. They were awesome on the phone, rooms look good on the web, mentioned as nice on boards, also rated well by some sites. Called and spoke with the manager - he is giving me their "sweet suite" for 2k b/night including svc and tax, also breakfast. Like I'll be awake ;)

Also - read posts and reviews on the restaurant at the cabana - will definately check it out. The Villa seems to be central to both sand and fun.... Should be a blast.

Any other recommendations for food, daytime or fun?

Philo,

I was separated from my passport, most of my money and my creditcard once.
When I got my new passport (our embassy has a counter for its own nationals:)) I went to the immigration office where the immigration officer kept on asking 'How can I help you?'
I knew that 'By giving me the FUCKING clearance ASSHOLE' wasn't the right answer, so I opted for 'I have no money left at all, my CC is useless and I don't know how you can help me' - which of course means: I'm not going to pay bribes to you, you filthy Jakarta PIG!'
As soon as he realized that he was getting none from me, I got the papers and stamps and I was out the door within the hour.

WTH, this was the ONLY real mishap in half a lifetime of travel for me. But it still sucked:(!

Born in 1964... What are the contact details for the Patong Villa? I am going to Phuket with two other guys in early August, and this sounds like a good spot to book.

Thanks to all the bro's who have posted such excellent FRs on the Phuket scene. I've been spending so much time in China and Taiwan, and this will be my first time back in Phuket since 1990! Really looking forward to a few days of girls, golf, girls, beach, girls, drinking, girls and, well, more girls.

I'll also be returning to Kunming and DongGuan, PRC after a few months away, so if anyone needs updated info from there watch the China forum.

Patong medio June...

Tons of girls (10+ for each falang), but few beauties in the beer bars (I regularly checked Bangla and rhe soi's Eric, Easy, Seadragon, Gonzo and Seapearl by motersai (sic)). A few good freelancers in Star Wars, Banana and Tai Pan (but they are all looking for the LT-GFE). And the gogo-bars are really depressing........

Girl prices like before: almost any female body can be had for 500-1500. Good rooms down to 400. Good to see the overpriced place bleeding a little bit....

But Patong is rather boring now..... Good to be back in BKK!

Was a little disappointed with the scene in patong. They had some cute girls, but there were so many that were old or fat. Went to one gogo bar that wanted 600 barfine and 2000 for the girl, I said that was too much and walked out when they refused to negotiate.

Picked up a cutie named Ann who says she's 18 at a bar, paid 200 to the bar and went back to the hotel, gave her 1500 for the night. She wasn't hungry so I only bought her a drink that night before we got down to business. She was great.

Went into Phuket town and couldn't really find a redlight district. I think Pattaya would be a better choice in the future. Although the food here in Patong Beach suits my stomach better.

Bruce_Lee,

It is hard to think that you could not find the red light district at Patong Beach. It is such a small place and every Tuk Tuk driver knows where to take you. The street to look for is Bang-la road and you can get to it from patong beach road. Bang-la road is one street that makes a 1 mile square block that is full of bars, discos, clubs, etc. There are literally hundreds of bars. Of course there are some bars with older woman and some that are not that hot. You have to be patient and walk around. The Hard Rock has some really good looking women. Also another place to go is the Christin massage place behind the patong resort hotel. That place in the evening has at least 50 to 75 girls for the standard 2 hour soapy and massage with some good sex. The charge here is 1500 BHT during the day and 2000 BHT in the evening. I found found some really beautiful women there. I like Patong Beach becasue there are some great tourist things to do during the day and some great seafood.

Happy Hunting!

Joe_zop,

Yes thanks I see that now. Since he was talking about Patong Beach for most of the E-mail, I made that mistake. I will have to venture to Pattaya Beach in order to compare to Patong. I have been to Bangkok a few times and Phuket 6 times. When doing business in Asia, it is a great place for some R&R. I like Phuket for the beaches and all of the other things to do. The night action at Patong is really great. I have been sucessful with some of the girls that worked in a jewelry store and another that worked at one of the clothing stores. Nice to get a freebie once in a while. What is your experience Joe and what do you recommend? Thanks for input and comments and for catching my mistake.

Still struggling with where is best to do my visa run (simple in out stamp) remember seeing some signs around Phuket refering to visa trips all inclusive of van, and whatever, is it Ranong? Just want some advice on ease of this, if i explain, i'm confined to barracks by the missus and am using the visa run as an excuse to have a wild night away, but MUST get the visa sorted at the same time. I want to get out of Bangkok and have some fun. Does anyone know anyone in Phuket that does this visa run service? do they have contact details etc? Also is it worth coming from bangkok to Phuket for some honey? or should i goto Koh kong (Cambodia border) and get it around there?
Any advice, direction, alternative ideas or info as always is appreciated.

You'll find them everywhere in Patong. This site claims Ranong 10 hours, 1000 B included minibus, boat and food:

www.thaivisa.com/292.0.html

And this company takes 1200 B: www.phuketfivestars.com

And a nice little story: www.thingsasian.com/goto_article/article.1942.html

Concerning the girl issue, see my post below.

Meaty,

There are a number of options for the Ranong visa run if you just turn up in Patong Beach. You can ride on a motorbike with someone else if you are short of cash, or share a bus or taxi as far as I know. Some friends of mine get together and hire an A/C limo and driver and then spend the waiting time in the Andaman casino in Burma drinking and gambling.

Only link I have is:

http://thailand-hotels.co.uk/Ranong_Andaman_Burma.html

but there are lots of adverts around in Patong, or just ask at any dive shop.

Can't say anything about Patong versus KK, but would like to find out myself.

Cheers,

TB

I just came back from my first trip to Thailand. I didn’t spend much time in GoGos (I’m a little shy, only 23 years old) but next time I will! In Patong I went to a few gogos, I was not impressed, I enjoy nudity, and the 2 I went to didn’t seem to have that.

I met a young lady on the internet (jojo on my photo album http://******************/thaimarauder ) and we were walking around when a guy showed me a blurry picture of naked girls, I said ok where? He took me there, I don’t remember the name of the place.

I had heard about these shows, but still it made my jaw hit the floor.

JoJo and I were the only customers. They asked JoJo to get on stage and she said ok…. A dancer asked for 100 baht to tip JoJo, she put it in her bra. Then she pulled some brightly colored cloth (it reflected in the blacklight) out of her coochie and handed it to JoJo, and instructed JoJo to walk to the other end of the stage. That was a lot of fabric! Then jojo got grossed out and got down.

Well, there were 4 dancers, one came and sat with us and told us that the other girls had all been taken home already. It was 10:30 but ok, whatever.

They were really the saddest dancers I had seen, all obviously much older then me, and 2 of them probably weighted more then me. Icky.

Oh well, the show started at 11, and really, wow.

First a big girl came up on stage with a birthday cake covered with candles, and a little tube. She blew out all the candles through the tube (use your imagination) and offered for me to get the last one. I passed.

Then a girl came with a piece of paper, and asked for my name. I wrote it in Chinese to be cute and difficult. About 5 minutes latter, a girl came on stage with a piece of poster board and a magic marker, and managed to write “Welcome to XXXX club (My name in Chinese).“ I was like, woah! That was impressive. Her coochie writing was much better then my hand writing. She even wrote the Chinese word correctly and well. They gave me the poster, but I left it there, like I was going to carry that back to the hotel, or touch it for that matter.

Then a girl blew a whistle, another blew a horn, another pulled a big long string, with razor blades tied at every 8 inches or so out of her coochie (ouch).

Then the jaw dropper. A girl got on stage with a fish bowl, I was like, no way! Shes not going to put a fish up there! Then I saw it was empty. Drunken Suspence. She danced for one song, then squatted over the bowl. Oh my god, flying turtle! She had 2 small turtles and 3 goldfish up there! How did she dance for 3 minutes? Mean, but when you are drunk, it makes your jaw drop, for sure!

It was getting expensive at that point, we were the only ones in there, and they were pushy for buying drinks and giving tips (even the waitress was pushy for buying her drinks) so we left. I had heard them say pingpong. Lol guess that was next.

I did not get hard the whole time, I would never want to ever ever have sex with any of those girls ever, but I am glad I went cause it is a unique experience, and I will have a great story to tell.

By the way, I stayed at the Aloha Villa, it was 900 baht and I was satisfied. The internet downstairs sucked, but it is not a far walk to a worthwhile internet café anywhere in Thailand really.

Has anyone stayed at Harry's Beach Hotel in Patong? I'm staying at the Sheraton Grande in Bang Tao Beach (not my choice, but a beautiful play anyway) for a few nights. But, I want to spend one night in Patong much closer to the action, and I noticed Harry's. The price is right (1000 B) and it's right on the beach. But, maybe some of the bro's have a better recommendation?

I'm planning to pay a visit to Christin's during the day and then hit the bar scene that night. So, I want a place I can stumble back to in the wee hours!

Hi all,

Just back from Phuket. I stay at this Banthai Hotel at Patong area. Overall a nice hotel, but I feel that a bit expensive.

As for bringing a girl back to hotel, you have to pay a joiner fee of 500 bht.

How about other hotels? Any one been to Phuket Town, like Pink Lady? What the price did you get over there? A guide told me is 3500 bht and 4000 bht for overnight.

Seems I fell in love over the place, now a bit lost and listless in life.

I'm sure going back there again at the end of the year or early 2004.

I have never been to Harry's place, but it is off Beach Road on the south side of the beach near the Post Office. About 10 minutes walk from Soi Bangla but much further from Kristen's which is almost directly due east but I don't know of any short-cut past the Patong Tower. You can go to Kristen's via Soi Bangla but it takes maybe 25 minutes. (Does anyone else know of a short cut?)

Unless you really insist on a beachside hotel, then you could try Soi San Sabai at the top end of Soi Bangla. Just straight through the traffic lights and Kristen’s is five minutes off on the right along Soi Rat-U-Thit.

If you’re interested do a search on cheap hotels in San Sabai. There is a nice swimming pool at the end of San Sabai, BB’s, less frenetic than the beach, though after the Sheraton you are probably spoilt for pools. My favourite hotel is the Summer Breeze run by Lester Smith:

Let us know how Harry’s turns out if you decide to stay there, it looks fine from the website.

They say Phuket is an expensive place to find good quality meat and this might have some truth in it. Had a few good ones from beer-bars and they ask 1000 for ST, can't get under B800. Go-Gos are even pricier. So when you get a bargain it feels so much better.

On soi Seadragon I had my thoughts on this bleached blonde tall chick for a while. She was just so much out of place in the smutty Bang-Bang -a-Go-Go. She was perfect! Didn't even look thai but rather Japanese or Korean. But she always looked too pricey for my low budget.

One night to my delight she just sat down next to me, I got drinks for both of us and we were in business. In about two minutes I was buried elbow deep in her panties by both hands. No complaints. I popped the question:"How much for short time?"
She replied:"one thousand baht, OK?"
Wow, no complaints on my side. For this one!

She was just made for it, such a natural! As soon as we entered the room, I sat on the bed and to my surprise she just dropped her jeans, leaned on the TV table and positioned her perfect arse in classic doggy style. She was all hot and wet. (a bit miraculously to me, but I did not complain for a second). So off we went, right there, unwashed, sweating, bang-bang-bang (just like her bar's name). I was a bit worried, that the neighbours would look at me strange tomorrow as she was screaming from the top of her voice, seemingly unaware. I didn't fuck her, she fucked me!

After a shower I like to get a second session out of them so we did it again. That meat was so perfect, bordering the unreal. Knowing that they are fond of beauty contests in LOS I asked "You haven't lost a lot of beauty contests, have you?"
"No, not many but in the last one I did not enter." She replied.
"You are a great fuck too. Just like a porn star or something" I told her, but she did not admit to doing any movies. What a shame. She was made for it.

Anyway. Good Bye, Good Bye, kiss, kiss.
"You come, see me tomorrow?"
"Sure!"
I did not . Had another one. Not as great as this one, but different. I don't like repeats so much, no matter how good. But this was a very-very memorable one.
Cost: pay bar500, pay girl 1000, two drinks 200, total B1700.

Thanks for the hotel info. I talked to the manager/owner of Harry's tonight, and he said the price in the summer is about 800B and it's a very quiet location although within 200m of the main bar area in Patong Beach. I don't know if that's true, but it sounds promising. I want to go to Christin's, but I guess it would be just as easy to take a tuk-tuk there. No need to waste valuable energy walking, right?!

Since I'm planning to lounge on the beach all day before hitting the fun spots, Harry's sounds like a good option. As always, I'll definitely post a FR on all of our activities.

Meanwhile, if anyone can somehow narrow down to 2-3 the best bars to visit it would sure help. There are just too many to choose from, and the odds of stumbling into some good ones is pretty low when we're there only one night.

Thanks, bro's!

Lately when I've gone to Phuket I've stayed at the Boomerang Inn. Nothing fancy but clean, relatively quiet yet only about a 3 minute walk from the beach, about 5-7 minute walk to where most of the bars are located. Run by an Aussie and his Thai wife. Very reasonable prices. http://phuket.com/boomeranginn/

Hi,

Usually five star and four star are not girl friendly hotel. As for me, I stay at this Banthai hotel and pay 500 bht joiner fee for the girl for one night, although she stay withe me for 2 night.

Phuket Thailand.

Shark disco has closed down and a new one is opening there (should be open by now). Banana Disco is still alive and kicking. There is also the Safari Disco next to the Meridian Hotel but that is some distance from Patong Beach.

Jap ladies - Hang out at the beach along thaweewong road and try to make friends with any jap you see. You could then invite them or her out for dinner at nite and party with them. The japs usually hang out in pairs or more .

As for the massage palour, Cristins is still there but if you just wanna ta pau i suggest you take a tuk tuk (bht450 one way) to Phuket town to Pink Lady Club and take away from there. Appox bht 2800. The quality at Cristins is poor and if you just wanna experience the arp naam then is ok Bht1800

For food - Try Dons Cafe near Chalong. Good value ang moh food for money. Need tuk tuk to get there. For Thai food try the seaside restaurant at Leam Hin .

Nite entertainment if you are staying at Patong then soi bangla is the main strip. If you venture to other beaches like kata and karon then there are other giilie bars , but a piece of advice its just a different dog with the same set of fleas.

I am at a going to Phuket on Aug 1st after arriving in Bangkok at 11:30 in the PM the night before.

This is my FIRST time to Asia and I am frantically wondering about where to stay. I want some place kind of nice since I'm going to be at patong beach for 7 days but I want it not to be TOO expensive and girl friendly.

Question: hotel recommendations? and should I take a night and to to Phuket City? I read of a couple of good places there. I am a fairly good looking guy and very picky about the girls. I am getting worried that it's going to rain everyday and the girls aren't very cute there....help!

You haven't specified your budget but I found that the Patong Resort hotel (about USD60) was good and will suit your purposes. It is well situated at the end of a soi off Soi Bangla, the main drag in Patong. The quality of the talent is not of BKK standards so be prepared to spend time in the various bars (as I did) to find what you want. The Tai Pan bar has a lot of FL action.

Cheers.

Thanks JD. I appreciate the insight.

I think that I 60$US would be ok or even a little more would be ok too. I think I'll take your advise and stay there and of course report my exploits.

I also heard that there are some pretty good places in Phuket City which I actually read here. I have time so I'll probably look take my time with it.

Again thanks!

Has anyone stayed at the Impana Phuket Cabana Hotel? It is a little pricey but by the beach. During rainy season, is it worth it to pay 81USD a night? Are they guest friendly?

I was also looking at the Royal Palm. I am having a hard time deciding on a place. I want it a little upscale, near the light life but not too close with nice amenities and a girl-friendly attitude at about 60USD a night.

Suggestions? And has it really rained every day for the past two weeks? Darn, going to be there on Aug 2nd!

Okay, boys, several of you clearly know Phuket inside and out. So, for the benefit of the rest of us, here's a question for you: if you had only 24 hours to spend in Patong, where would you go and why?

Your answers will greatly help those of us who don't live in Phuket or Thailand and are much more limited with our time available there.

Thanks, bros!

Clemson Tiger,

81 USD is too expensive. Visit latestays.com .Currently they are charging 2300 baht. Try the Burasari or Baan Yin Dee, both nice places and better value for money. I am not sure about any joiner fees however.

Trotter 717,
Yes, we had some rain, but last two/three days were better already.

You are asking about what to do if you only have 24 hours, that is really a difficult one. I would visit some of the following places: Christins', SeaHag or PanYaah restaurant, Patong Beach, TaiPan, Margarita bar, Bars at Soi SeaDragon, Molly Malone.

But there is so much more

Trotter717,

24 hrs in Patong?

Get on a songthaew to PhuketTown, rent a HondaDream for B150 a day and explore the goddamned island! See Panwa - don't forget to stop for a B10 coffee or softdrink, ChalongBay, go up PhuketHill, check out the road along the WestCoast.
At 5PM pick up a girl from a quiet bar, pay B500 LT+barfine, take the girl to see the sunset on PromthepCape.
After the sun is down the girl will do anything for you, so take her to your room and take advantage of her!
Only a moron spends his time on Phuket island in a GoGo bar.

Period!

Last night I had a look @ the lineup @ Christins just to verify it wasn't gonna happen.

The tout wanted 1800 for some pudgy girl scouts in the left corner. 2500 got you some finer trim but c'mon.

Funny thing about Thanon Song Roi Pi - several places wanted the money upfront even for the 'Traditional massage'!! The boy scouts (four of them) hanging out in the lobby @ Christins looked more like errand boys for a BIG non-performing development loan shark than in-house muscle. I had two guys leaning over the register watching the girl put my (shitty oily massage) money in the till. Fucking pikers.

The prices/quality are inversely comparable to Bangkok - twice as much TB for less. Shop @ MBK, Robinson's and Baron (Soi 24) and skip the soapy in patong! Otherwise Phuket is pretty fine!

Freeler obviously looks at the low budget end of things. (Not that there is anything wrong with that, but since you only have a day to spend then why be too stingy?)

Let's say your 24 hr starts at 10am.

Stay only in Patong to avoid spreading yourself too thin. First of all, you could start with a good breakfast at the many streetside restaurants on Soi Bangla or "200 year" road and just get a feeling of the town for an hour. Look at the faces, the tourists, locals. Shouldn't cost more than B150.

At 11am wash it down with a beer on the beach. The sun is not the strongest yet. Have a swim, enjoy the beach and the scene. It's very relaxing just to be there. (of course watch your stuff and don't take much cash).

At 12 noon Christine's massage opens and they have some nice ladies there. One and a half hour will set you back arond B2500 including a couple of drinks and some tip for the girl. The rooms are really good and so is the service. The girls get trained thoroughly before commencing work (by the papasans-poor boys!). You get sex-session No.1.

At 1.30pm you can have s stroll along the main streets, maybe another beer. Take it easy, you are slowly warmong up for the evening shift. It will be busy!

2pm. If you have the cash, there is a multitude of seafood restaurants on the beach for lunch around B400-600. Otherwise also right on the beach you can have a good "Thom Yam Koong" for B80. It's delicious!

3pm. Some of the beer-bars start to open on Soi Bangla and around. You can pick-up a girl for ST for around B500-1000.
Spend just half an hour in the bar and one in your room. You don't have much time. You had sex-session No2.

5pm. Happy hours in the pubs on the beach! Beer only 35 baht. It's not just that but the scene is also interesting.

6pm. More bars open. Streetside stalls start setting up for the evening shift. You may pick-up a bargain as the first customer.
Stroll the streets a bit or enjoy the afternoon sun on the sand.

8pm. Most of beer-bars open. Don't forget, the best chicks in the whole town are in Soi Eric (off Bangla Road), everybody knows.

Now it's up to you. If you want to lick the ass of one ho for the night (as Wheeler advised) or you want your ass to be licked by many hos. I prefer the latter option.

You don't need to spend much. Stroll down Soi Eric and find the bar with the most shameless hos, buy a bottle of whisky for B500-1500, invite as many hos to drink with you as you like. Have fun with them. Make sure you don't drink much though!

They won't want to let you go. You can take one or two to your room at 9pm. Negotiate a good price for two girls like total B1500 plus barfine 2xB200. Shake-it, shake-it baby with the two until 11pm. You had sex-session No.3++

11pm. You don't have much time for eating now. Grab a quick snack from a streetside stall for B30. Next destination Rock Hard-a -Go-Go. Just on the corner of Soi Bangla. Many beauties on display. (A tip: You may want to do Rock Hard before the beer bars as the best meat tends to go quickly - but not always).
You can have sex-session No.4 or move on to the other go-gos on Soi Seadragon.

12 midnight. The discos start rocking, eg. Star Wars or Banana. Freelancers galore. B1000 ST or B1500 LT. No barfines here. You can have two girls again if you wish.

1am. Hopefully you still have one bullet or two left. Take her Long Time for B1500. Sex session No.4 (or No.5?).

9am in the morning. Session No. ???????

DID YOU HAVE A GOOD 24 HOURS?

I am not proud of this story but have to tell it so others may learn. Previously having found a top looker in one of the gogo bars, went back again to look around. Had one of the hos in mind. A nice slim one, with a couple of tattoos.

It's pretty dark inside that particular bar so when she sat down next to me I felt quite happy. Started talking and soon I figured out it was just a similar looking one, but not the same. Nevertheless quite a reasonable meat so I didn't mind. Tall, slender very white and very soft skin.

I had my hands all over 'her'. Soon off we went and on the street while walking back to the hotel I noticed 'her' big feet. Oh but good looking women have big feet I conforted myself. Just look at Cindy Crawford or Elle Macpherson.

Arrived in the bungalow. She undressed. Great body. Cute smallish tits. I took a handful. 'This is rubber' it came to me . But oh well, some girls have rubber tits. 'She' was the most perfect meat otherwise with narrow hips and cute little triangle over the 'pussy'.

Showertime. 'She' didn't want to shower with me. So, what. Some of them are shy. Then I took a shower alone after 'her'. Also, 'she' appeared quite shy by not letting me examine her hole.

Then 'she' was going to start kissing me but by that time I felt a bit uncomfortable so I refused. Another unusual sign: 'she' asked for her money to be paid upfront. Now, that never happens LOS so of course I got alarmed. "I will pay you after. Don't worry" I said.

Then 'she' went on to perform BBBJ but for some reason I insisted that it's going to be covered. It turned out to be quite a reasonable BJ actually. 'She' wanted to lay on her back and me on top.

I didn't like this very forceful personality and by then just wanted it all done and over and get her out of the room ASAP. So I just stuck it in. 'She' guided it in the hole. It felt quite strange. You know that when a ho lays on her back and you stick it in, your cock goes kind of 'upward' in the tunnel, towards the stomach. But this was going DOWN!

I had to check. Was it IN? I noticed two very fine whitish lines running alond the sides of the triangle. Then the picture was complete. "You are a f***ing boy!"

'She' smiled. "How did you know? Many men never notice." I felt so stupid. We agreed that I give her half of the deal, just 500 baht. 'She' kissed me on the cheek before left. "Goodbye."

I went to the toilet and vomited. And vomited . And vomited for three days. I was so sick. Now I look and look and double, triple check. But 'she' had no Adams Apple. None whatsoever.

Well, sorry to hear about your bad experience. I have seen some very attractive ladyboys, so I always want to see the whole package BEFORE I do any nasty.

I also like to take pictures as they're disrobing too. Something to remember them by in later years.

At least you were honest about it.

Oh my god, what a bad experience! Hmmm, just wondering whether we can differenciate whether she is 'she' or 'shemale'. I want to ask whether we can check the sex gender on thier identity card?

As for other question, any brother know the rate for Pink Lady in Phuket town?

Thanks.
