I enjoy enough looking through pictures here, that I need to post some to give back to the community.
Today's theme: the cabalgatta
These pictures were taken on December 25th in Cali. Every year, at the same date (yes on Christmas day), there is a cabalgatta in Cali.
Here is the concept:
- A horse is dangerous by itself, right?
- Putting someone on the back of a horse is even more dangerous, right?
- Well assume that this person on the back of a horse is dead drunk, dangerous, right?
- Then multiply that by 5000 to 7000, that's a cabalgatta... And I love it!!!!
I own 2 beautiful horses that I use much during these events (every major city has its own).
GF1.jpg to GF3.jpg is my girlfriend (see why I do not post much now). Friend.jpg is a friend during the cabalgatta. cream.jpg is interesting: Cali thinks that a cabalgatta is not dangerous enough provided my description... So they figure that it would be most interesting if they could spill cream on people and horses to make this a little bit more dangerous. Last year, there were 2 dead (horses getting that cream in their eyes and just panick - Obvious). Horseview.jpg is the view that we see from where we stand (on the back of our horses).

New life is not far from the Mansion. By taxi it is 12 to 15 minutes depending on traffic. It is going straight down Ave Poblado towards El Centro where the streets are named after South American countries like Argentina & Bolivia & New Life is on Bolivia two blocks uphill from Ave Poblado.

You can do that in anything that lets you play with contrast and brightness. Photoshop's the obvious choice but if you don't know how to use be warned its got a learning curve as long as yer arm after the Spanish Inquisition have been at ya.
Google's Picassa (sp?) might be a good choice if you're new to this kind of thing. And its a lot less money :)

Second, this is an average rate which includes some indivduals that have open sores. If you don't have an open sore, then this 1 in 200,000 is far lower (according to my doctor, 0 in 200,000). The dogs are probably money sniffer dogs, looking for drug bucks coming into the country. I got searched a couple of weeks ago when I arrived in Cali from Medellin. The plane had originated in New York and the policia fiscal (tax police) looked in everyone´s luggage.

Those tiny movements can be compensated for by the image stabilization features available in many mid-range and higher cameras available now. It also helps to concentrate on squeezing the shutter.
Google digital photography and you will find many articles with good tips. The best photo is one that needs no after-the-fact fixing.

The diving here in my opinion was far better than Cozumel. The pool area is pretty spectacular and I have some night photos which give somewhat of an impression of the romantic setting. Alina was melancoly, on the phone with her (I guess) boyfriend much of the time. Juan (who owns a bitchin cool beach house on this island) was my dive master. We are friends, I might stay with him and his Mom (she's cool too) if I ever go there alone. Very laid back life, I would love to trade with him for a couple of years.
you can walk the interior of the island in about 1.5 hours. diana and i had luis give us a boat ride around it and it took about 2.25 hours. there is a resort on the other side (about 15 min by foot called managua) it is primo for a couple, very nicely appointed more provincial. then you have about 15 other smaller resorts rep001tered around the island. coco liso is best for mongers taking a girl because it is kind of a focal point for a larger number of tourists who come in for a day and leave just more going on, more diving and the bar is much more lively. it has more of a party feel to it.
