Trust me, with this new software it takes *everyone* some time to figure it out. I was closing the window each time a window opened for a picture (since that's how the old software worked), and it took me a few times before I realized that I had closed my whole WSG window.

Still, it's surely simpler from an organizational perspective to be able to have, say, three pics of the same woman in a single post along with a note about her, than it is to have three posts, each with a picture and a single line.

As I recall, when the last version of the software was put in place, things were quite slow for at least a month, and then they got substantially better. I imagine the same thing will happen again.

If you want to view more than one photo at a time you can right click on the link and "open in a new window". But this will mean running lots of Internet Explorer browsers at the same time.

But, if you use a web-browser such as Firefox (Mozilla) you can open links in "tabs" which saves opening up loads of browsers. Once you've downloaded Firefox you'd right-click on all the pictures you want to view and "open in a new tab".

Hope that makes sense. If anyone wants the link to download the Firefox browser please ask. It is ideal for this purpose.

There will be a new window for each picture if you do it that way - but it does tend to bog down a "slow" web link - I wouldn't do it with a modem link

Sorry, I just figured that the question was about how to have more than 1 open at a time (and the only way to do that is to do it in multiple open windows - if you use "firefox" you could open each in a NEW TAB, though)

Actually, the software essentially would do the same thing since there is no way to actually DISPLAY multiple pix unless they are in separate windows/tabs - and then only by "cascading" the windows and re-arranging them.

Speaking of "interesting things" - I discovered that I need to go down to "thread subscription" in "additional options" on the response page and set thread subscription to "do not subscribe" so that I don't have all the "new" posts get sent to my e-mail. Too bad there isn't a global options page where I could set this to "do not subscribe" from the get-go and make SUBSCRIPTION the "option"

I think that my wishful thinking is that I could select all the pictures at one time and click open. It could open in multiple windows, but save the task of closing/or hit the back button and click on the next link every time. I haven't seen this on any other board either. Maybe some enterprising software developer can come up with this and make some money patenting it. Come to think of it, I might outsource this to India and patent it myself. :-)

Since my former brother-in-law was from a family with a very long military history, which always had been close to the royal family (his grandfather went to school with HM King Bhumipol) and he uses to accompany one of the princesses, I had the honor to meet HRH Princess Sirindhorn on a few occasions, but did talk to her only once. That country bumpkin or poor ass city slicker straight up called you a scumbag or the like. Remember, Thais call *****s "dtua" as well. Again in most Asian linguistics, referring to a human being as an object or animal is vulgarity. There are shitloads of classifiers in the Thai language, but in your case, there is no way in hell a Thai would mistake referring to the three of you guys as a "herd" or "pack".

The good guy answer to being referred as "dtua": Phuut eek tee see na khrap? (please say that again?) Then you'll see a Thai guy get flustered. Taxi drivers are in the class of servants or housekeepers.

When I was first in Thailand, many years ago, I had a Thai friend who was a banker and senior member of the Thai social establishment and I asked him the question which is being discussed.

His answer was very simple - 'if someone says 'hello' to you in your country you respond' - the same in Thailand - if someone 'wais' you, you 'wai' them back. No problem. Regardless of whether it is a waitress or a person of equal social standing.

After this I never felt self-conscious - view it as a normal reply and forget any class implications. This information came from someone who knew the British well and would fly to HK for the Seven asides (Rugby football for our non-Brit members!) so he could relate to both cultures, easily. I think that many people are pre-occupied whether the person is superior or inferior to them as to whether you 'do' or 'dont'. In fact, it would seem much simpler than this - just the same as making a polite response as any educated person would do.
