I am also getting a camera so that I can contribute pictures as well. Firstly is it better to get a film or digital camera for long run economy.I heard digital cameras only last a few years.Is it better to buy a branded camera?ThanksThe film camera industry is dieing out, definitely go with a digital. As far as brands, if you stick with Canon, Nikon, Olympus and a couple of other traditional brands you've made a safe bet. Unless you have a lot of photography experience and the budget to match, you ought to start off with a lower end point-and-shoot. Go to http://www.dpreview.com and choose a 'Recommended' or 'Highly Recommended' camera (their rating for the cameras they've reviewed) that fits your needs.

2AA batteriesUnless you're getting rechargeable, I'd go with a camera that came with its own Lithium-Ion battery and charger. I own a couple of small Olympus cameras that I've traveled with and have easily kept the battery charged in any hotel room outlet -- either 110 or 220 volt.

I have seen 512MB cards go for $20 USD!

Yes,i also agreed but for me bro.If you could spend another USD 350,you might get a nice digital camera from Nikon (model S1,S2 or S3).This compact camera have enourmous function until you can zoom it to the nice pixel.Try it out and discover.

I bought a canon 510 last year and it has broken twice. The first time I replaced it and got another. The second one also broke. So from my experience canons are not very durable. Maybe I just had bad luck though as they are rated highly. I liked the camera a lot. I am hoping I can get it fixed on warranty.

I have a Canon S330 that I bought maybe three years ago. It is very durable (metal not plastic), takes excellent photos is small and light enough to travel with easily. There are undoubtedly newer things on the market with more pixels and a little lighter weight (but I wanted the metal case for durability), but this one has been excellent for me.

LexSorry for the late response. I have been thinking about other locations and not checking this board.
To answer your question, I use a Nikon D70. I set it on "auto" and turn off the flash, and let the camera figure out the exposure, ect. I adjust the light in the room and I encourage the girl to pose repeatedly. I let her know by my gestures whether or not the picture I just took is good. I usually can take 6-9 shots. But every once in a while, I get one that likes to pose alot. I have a good example of that in the PI photo section. I gave that one some direction about "looking natural and not forcing any expression" and she took off like Christy Brinkley. I do not insist on nude pictures. Sometimes I get them, though.
I also have found that there is such a thing as being or not being "photogenic". I think it has to do with depth contours of the face that we do not notice with our eye but become clear in two dimensional photos.
I know from your posts that Lex appreciates a nice photo. I do as well. But, I am second guessing the posting of an "un obscured" face in VN.

CVM is right that I chose the wrong word. However, "nha que" doesn't mean unsophisticated or uneducated, either. Nha que may also mean the person lacks a little bit of urbanity. Its real meaning is people from farm or farmers. In the old days , in big cities from the South like Saigon, Danang we call people from little cities, villages, or even Hanoi nha que because these people are unfashionable even if they want to. Now I think it depends on the person, not where she is from.
I went to China and met this nice girl from Hunan who is "nha que' even she has a college degree, is active in sports, speaks fluent English, etc. The way she used bathroom and splattered water all over the place or didn't know how to backpack, make love, etc... make me label her "nha que". But teaching her all these was so much fun :)

I dont know what your standard of stunning is but if you are caucasian, then yours would be alot different from mine. Most of the girls you guys post pictures on here are terrible quality and asian people would consider then very ugly. Viet girls with more western attributes are considered pretty not the tradition chinky eye flat nose girls. Secondly, $100 a night is the standard rate of girls in the clubs/bars in Saigon not the streetwalkers. The rate will be less if you are in the smaller cities. I agree with the comment that many of the pics posted here are not what I would call stunners. These three look pretty good but I would want to chat a bit to be sure I do not have a primma donna with a million rules.
As for prices it seems to me that the regular bar girls rate is still $60 for long time although some of the bars are trying to apply a drinks levy or even a bar fine. I walked out several times a week or so ago.

look buddy. i lived in hcm for about 3 years, and only recently left. unless the price for good looking viets have gone up almost 70% since the last 6 months, ignore what i am about to say.

There are many different kinds of cafes. You have to know what you're trying to achieve first. The ones that you guys are talking about are probably the ones with "waitresses" that you can touch & grope.
This is how I can spot one. They're usually have tinted glass fronts on the outskirts of Saigon. Inside usually dark & play some HK movies. None of the "waitresses" speaks any English. If the price is right, they would go to their apartment or mini hotel with you or have an afternoon break session with you during the day. You go in there, sit down & a girl will come to take your order, usually coffee or soda. When she returns, she would sit & chat with you. You can touch her, I would say, almost any part of her body. Some of them would do a HJ for you right at the coffee table. I should warn you some of these girls are a bit physically aggressive though. Maybe that's just the way they try to be friendly or try to take the shyness out of the situation. At the end, you would tip her 20-50k depending on the services.
