Well I remembered when the main bar first opened last year it was kind of fun. They hired pole dancers and real performers to perform fifteen minutes once an hour and most of all no pressure for drinking just drink and have fun watch the shows. I've been back a few days ago and it's all downhill now. Since Freespace Bar closed a few weeks ago many of the non KTV bars saw an influx of business. However some of the management staff and dancers from Freespace have gone to work at the Peninsula main bar now. A friend and I got there booked a table in the main lounge a few days ago and we got there about 12:30 am. They sold us on a bottle of whiskey Chivas for $498 RMB mixed with green tea and it works out to be five jugs thinking it would last the night. Nope these people or public relations managers makes you drink non stop and girls came from nowhere and poured our drinks without saying anything thinking it was free for all. After 30 minutes the whole bottle was gone! I mean WTF then they were staring at you no more alcohol? And at that time we had a few drinks and just getting started so of course we said bring another one. The singing was terrible and they do not hire and performers anymore just some staff saying now. It was horrible. We were done by 1:50 am. Total damage $996 RMB in 80 minutes. No girls sitting nothing just straight donation. Not going back there for a while.

I've been calling them down the list and found a good 90% of those numbers are empty, not in service, or dead. I guess gals change numbers quite frequently. Although this has not happened to me in the past, I guess recent influx of customers have made gals more protective of their cell numbers. Or I just haven't been affected until now. I don't know.
But it's a crying shame I lost some great gals for backup.The same thing happened to me with mamasans and some girls. Never mind; it is time to rebuild.

My question was can you not use the machines to avoid the line ups at the booths? Because I've been buying my ticket at the machines and there are many of them and usually just have to wait for one person ahead and it takes about a minute to buy the ticket at the self serve machines.This option of buying at the ticket machine is limited to those with either a PRC I'd card or a Hong Kong Home Return permit card.

Just heard that at 21:15, the EuroAsia got raided and shut down.
Apparently they also hauled off a group of Singaporean / Malaysians and their gals as they had refused to stop partying / leave.

It was rumored a working girl was killed also. Most KTV's were closed, if not all. They said it was due to mantanince. While most sauna were closed or viggie only. BBS were also closed. Others said it was due to Chinese News Year crackdown. Things started slowly to open after a few long weeks. Af frist most girls try to stick it out. Later girls just left early for CNY.
For the coming few weeks, I strongly recommend going some place else. Try other places like CA, Humen, Shenzhen,
Houjie , ZMT or Macau. Hopefully they are fine but I will be very very cautious of LE. Macau is the best option.

Usually, this kind of thing happens when someone new ascends to power in Dongguan. It is part of showing who is boss and what he can do. Then the owners will come calling with their millions in brief cases and all will be good. The dead girl may only be a catalyst. Eventually, the person who shut down the place will himself be under so much pressure all will return to normal. My guess is another week. Idiot Malaysians refusing to stop. They will be thousands each poorer when they sober up.

I think it just serve to remind all the mice that the cat does sometimes pounce. So just don't get carried away carousing as if you've got the whole place to yourselves!
Actually we've had it pretty good past couple years or so, with these clean-up campaigns in the interim being quite mild compared to previous efforts; and I THINK it's got a lot to do with my thoughts that the powers-that-be may want to concentrate all such activities to one location Chang Ping.
Past couple years or so, we've all witnessed tremendous building of not only lavish Hotels / KTV's / Sauna facilities. But also WG / monger-centric ancillary facilities like shopping malls, apartment building and even posh dining / private clubs here. And we've also seen hordes of mongers all coming primarily to Chang Ping AWAY from previous mongering areas like Chang An, Zhuhai, Houjie, Shenzhen which has all been "cleansed" pretty good.
But things IMHO has gone out of whack with too many over-the-top incidences occurring too many times. Drugs, criminality, and dare I say it, too many Sex Tourist Foreigners coming over and threatening to give the impression that China is some kind of sex-tour-destination. China needs to keep its "pristine" International image. Welll. At least as far as its morality is concerned! LOL!
And of course that sauna girl getting killed recently; just too many things all happening at the same time and thus just time for a reality check IMHO.
Plus of course there IS that new Party Secretary for Guangdong province Wang Yang who appears poised to escalate his campaign against corrupt cadres. Especially as it promises to further increase his political capital ahead of the 18th Communist Party congress. The name of the KTV you are talking about in Xiamen is Neptune's Cup and they have a HUGE tiered stage that they girls "present" themselves. There are banquets to sit in and you can bring the girls over for drinks and games. There are also private rooms, but I have never asked about the prices there. I bought one of the mommies dinner at a street vendor after she finished work, and she told me the girls are not "required" or really expected to go out with clients although most do. But the prices are high, but the girls are really pretty. I expect a short time is at least 12-1500. I have been to one other KTV with just two guys. Sitting fee was 300, and I bought a VIP card for 500 rmb, which meant that I could drink and eat all I wanted, I bought a bunch of snacks and a bottle of Chivas. Had to tip the mommie on top of the sitting fee plus the DJ. At this place a DJ is optional. Didn't ask about taking her home, but my friends girl wanted 1500 for ST. Which really meant she didn't want to go. She got her wish.

Where is Swan Lake BBS?Those BBS at Swan Lake the mommies make a killing. $250 ST which $100 goes to the mommies for doing not much is way too much and $150 for the girl. You get a better deal and service just going to a Sauna which you get two pops for about $450 way better service and professional. Also I recently walked into a real BBS to get a hair cut with the red and blue barber shop thingy outside and they told me no hair cut here. I thought it was strange and there were about 5 girls sitting inside I thought they were there to do their nails but I went back later to find out they were working girls and their prices are $130 ST up to two hours. $100 goes to the girl and $30 for the mommie which I think is fair. This mommie has two shops and even at $30 each time she make more than enough to pay for rent.
The selection of girls are 7/10 some are from Guangxi and other areas. SEANStill flaky they are going around in the special gang units now randomly searching cars and stuff. Saw six fully armed cops surrounded a car yesterday with bullet proof vest saying "POLICE" on it. These are the aniti gang units. Locked up a girl in cuffs she must be about 20 years old. So still some rippling effects happening right now.
But it's a good time to chow down on the best Xiao Long Pao in CP right now. I found a place used to be "Sik Wei Seen" before the the new owner bought it for 3. 5 million RMB it's located at the border of Changping and Wang Lie Town. It is a ten minute taxi ride about 30 RMB from Fu Hao hotel. Just tell the cab driver the old "Sik Wei Seen" restaurant in Wang Lie. The place is very Grand five stars and you'll see a big ass 100 foot screen TV when you walk in. Late night dim sum starts at 8:00pm until 12:30 am. The Xiao Long Pao you are looking for is one of the best I tasted in a while and very juicy and delicious.

I think you went BBS hunting TOO LATE in the day for during this crack-down period.
I did hear a couple mommies say that they have been closing down early these days as its a bit of a vicious circle.
They open the BBS, but since mongers are staying away from CP (because of news of this crackdown going on) , the girls are just sitting around with no business.
Sit around an hour, two and one says the hell with it and leave, pretty soon 2 more and very soon only a few dregs are still there.
And these dregs ain't going to be picked by mongers who braved the crack-down anyway and so, no business and they may as well save electricity!
Try going around 3. 5 pm tomorrow, you SHOULD get lucky.
But of course who the hell knows. It's still flaky there. I just left today and I was groping around myself past few days.

Still flaky they are going around in the special gang units now randomly searching cars and stuff. Saw six fully armed cops surrounded a car yesterday with bullet proof vest saying "POLICE" on it. These are the aniti gang units. Locked up a girl in cuffs she must be about 20 years old. So still some rippling effects happening right now.
But it's a good time to chow down on the best Xiao Long Pao in CP right now. I found a place used to be "Sik Wei Seen" before the the new owner bought it for 3. 5 million RMB it's located at the border of Changping and Wang Lie Town. It is a ten minute taxi ride about 30 RMB from Fu Hao hotel. Just tell the cab driver the old "Sik Wei Seen" restaurant in Wang Lie. The place is very Grand five stars and you'll see a big ass 100 foot screen TV when you walk in. Late night dim sum starts at 8:00pm until 12:30 am. The Xiao Long Pao you are looking for is one of the best I tasted in a while and very juicy and delicious.Thanks a lot for the Xiao Long Pao tip. I'll for sure go over and gorge on 'them when I'm up there next. Bruce Tea's been looking for 'them too. Right Bruce? LOL!
And Yes, it does seem that CP is still flaky.
As I was leaving today, I also saw some sort of commotion in the alley behind the Rainbow Department store with a slew of cop cars and shouting etc.
Don't know what that was all about and I wasn't about to go over and inquire etc. Best to just stay away when there is this kind of "action" going on in CP.
And actually its been sort of eerie the past few days in CP. Just didn't feel right, streets were kind of empty (as empty as streets in CP can be, LOL) , popular restaurants half full etc.
Anyway, hope things get back to normal soon.

Those BBS at Swan Lake the mommies make a killing. $250 ST which $100 goes to the mommies for doing not much is way too much and $150 for the girl. You get a better deal and service just going to a Sauna which you get two pops for about $450 way better service and professional. Also I recently walked into a real BBS to get a hair cut with the red and blue barber shop thingy outside and they told me no hair cut here. I thought it was strange and there were about 5 girls sitting inside I thought they were there to do their nails but I went back later to find out they were working girls and their prices are $130 ST up to two hours. $100 goes to the girl and $30 for the mommie which I think is fair. This mommie has two shops and even at $30 each time she make more than enough to pay for rent.

Actually the mommies do not make a killing working at the BBS. They do get 100 RMB upfront, but most of that goes to the owner who then has to pay off cops and gangsters protection fee. So mommies actually earn 20 RMB each girl they sell each time. It's pretty good money when they have no skill level at all. But when it's summer and it's hot and humid outside or even if it's raining, they have to be outside to get customers to come into the BBS to pick a girl or else they don't get any money. It's not the greatest job, but certainly better than working in a factory. Most of them earn as much as a DJ earns a day if it's a good day. But you also have to know that if they get arrested by during raids, they have to bail themselves out and sometimes even fork up money to bail out their girls as well. So it's got it's dangers as well. Most of that 80 RMB goes to the owner who doesn't do much.
Silver Star BBS owner is the only owner that is hands on and pays attention to his girl's service and attitudes inside his BBS. All other owners of BBS are never around, just swing by to collect payment once in a while.

Before I left about a week ago, I was up and down and in the Canopy taxi about 5 times in about a two week time period. EVERYTIME, I went, they had taxi's that were metered.

I'm getting quoted these high prices 24/7. Even in the wee morning, they're demanding the higher price and would not budge. Sometimes arguing that it's impossible to get there for less than the exorberant price. Whatever. I've been in CP and they're supposed to run the meter anyway.
One guy even turned on the meter in the middle of the trip but after he already quoted the higher price. Kinda sneaky.

What can I say about Dongguan (more precisly Changping) after spending almost 2 weeks here?
I would just say this "I was supposed to spend 3 nights in CP, finally I've stayed 12 nights".
Among all the cities in China I've visited, CP is definitly the best place when it comes to "sex entertainement". High quality for a very affordable price.
CP experience can be wonderful especially if you can speak Chinese.
Feel annoyed to leave CP, will miss of course all the pretty and good looking girls here, but most of all will miss all good people (I should call friends) I've met here :

The below article was posted today and the damn taxi drivers excuses are still "gas prices too high" you can tell them where to go. Yesterday hopped in a cab the guy wanted $30 RMB I didn't say anything hopped back out he was going $25 $25. I didn't even bother to negotiate with him because I know the reasonable rate would be $20 and found the next ride right behind that wanted $20 so I took that one. Hate the guys just want ridiculous prices up front so I don't deal with them and I find the legit ones that turns the meter on I give them a tip for being honest.

China to Cut Fuel Prices for the Third Time Since MayChina will be cutting retail fuel prices by 5 percent starting today making it its third reduction in just two months. Some consider this as a move that will leave refiners in the red but will lure consumers back to the pumps. China the second largest user of oil in the world, still makes up half of the oil demand in the incremental global total.
According to the National Development and Reform Commission said that starting today the ceiling for gasoline retail prices will be decreased by 420 yuan a ton and diesel price by 400 yuan. The decrease is equivalent to. 31 yuan per liter for gasoline and. 34 yuan for diesel. Based on China's fuel pricing rules, the government will consider changing fuel prices only when a weighted moving average of the three types of international crude oils increases or decreases by 4 percent and interval of the two price changes will be at least 22 working days. The government will also take into consideration factors such as inflation, supply and demand.
China has long been planning to change the current fuel price scheme to reflect refining costs together with plans of lowering trigger costs, shortening review period and changing the composition of rules governing pump prices. This a good time to launch the new scheme since international crude oil price have reached a mid point therefore can meet the cost of domestic fuel production.

I get the feeling if you are with a girl, it is harder to get the cheaper rate or (metered ). You want to get a cab as fast as possible and get to your destination with a girl.
OTH, if you are along and time is not a factor, it doesn't matter just catch the next cab. I sometime take bus around. It's just 2 rmb but I never do it with a girl. A long time ago, took a motorcycle cabbie together with a girl bin CP because we couldn't find a cab around.

Well I was having a chat with a local taxi with the word Changping on the door yesterday and the reason why they negotiate fares and not metering is because the transportation department is taking bribes from the other township taxis (the yellow cabs with other town on the door) for $2000 RMB per vehicle. There used to be hardly any of them around and the local taxis when turning the meter on still can make a living but now with the influx more outer town taxi wanting to get the same piece of pie every one gets a little piece and not enough so everyone negotiates. The local guys cannot make a living just by turning on their meters anymore now to support their families. So they are mad at the transport department for taking bribes yet not do anything but telling them to turn the meters on and not kicking the non locals out so they are pissed.
So just out of curiosity I went and caught an out of town cabbie and started to chat with them. Their take on coming into Changping was that they cannot make much nowadays because of the bad congestion of traffic increase right now. You sit idling while you could be out doing another round and there is not much business in their own township where some days they they take a lost. So it's a dead end too anyway you slice it, their is not enough pie to go around for taxi drivers. Comes down to it it's the greedy authorities that is robbing the taxi drivers and YOU the passenger. Hopefully they can make good use out of that bribery money to make more roads and free up traffic congestion.

Too wet, not many people going out, too dry, everybody just walking / taking the bus. Whatever, but they've just got to moan and groan!

Just the other day I saw an AIDS commercial on TV educating citizen about HIV / AIDS and I never seen these kind of commercials in China before. I think they are waking up to the rise in AIDS epidemic right now and they are trying to control it by spending more on education campaigns and ect. In the past China has ignored the epidemic in the late 90's and the infection rate is at a all time high in China right now and the government is waking up to something that was supposed to be of concern twenty years ago.

The crackdown, inspection, campaign, whatever you want to call it is continuing, a bit annoying but funny thing, people are still here, especially the regulars, I think they are kind of enjoying it because the newbies are scared and won't come and they have the town to themselves. Some saunas are still operating (incognito) but they are only taking repreat customers or customers that they know. No full blown flowerstreet with WGs in uniforms but there are some quasi flower streets but none with music blasting or girls in uniforms. Those that are brave enough to go actually are enjoying the pickings as there are less customers but much more eager and enthusiastic WGs vying for business. Stay with going with the bigger hotels in town. A lot of people (WGs, managers, mommies, DJs, etc.) are going on vacation and most of them will not come back until end of month. But in light of what has been happening, I AM worryingly speculating that Foreigners may now instead be targeted. Think about it.

Just been to the newly refurbished Mito's.
Half of the front is gone and now there's only 1 four seater and 1 two seater with a view to the street / SOP!
Its now all back slate tiling, dark mood lighting and quiet sophistication. Could easily be a bistro in Manhattan!

SEANIn my opinion, if they don't want to make China like Thailand, being a sex destination, they would start targeting and arresting foreigners, especially Caucasians. Word will get out, and people will stop coming to China for sex. Remember, prostitution is ILLEGAL in China. What is holding most guys back is language. Getting around China is difficult without speaking Chinese. Very little people speak English but it's getting much better than a few years ago. Sad thing, I am foreigner.
ALL, it takes is one bad issue with a foreigner in China for them to start cracking down. A Taiwanese or Caucasian guy getting murdered in CP would bring a lot of publicity forcing the gov't to act. His family might want some action and go their Embassy in China. The Embassy will want some action from the gov't.
So, if you are a foreigner, it is best to keep a low profile in China. You shouldn't rude or obnoxious. You should try to be polite and courteous. I have never been to Thailand, but I've heard foriegners think they own the place.
China doesn't need money like 7 to 15 years ago. It's overall economy is growing, unlike Europe and the USA. Damn, it's the second largest economy in the world now.

But I also know that business was really badly affected with a lot of their usual High spending regular customers staying away in droves. Understandably!
RG was supposedly an "Iron clad safe" place and had enjoyed high patronage because of such reputation; that such reputation has now been thoroughly tarnished has given many a pause.
I also wonder / anybody heard anything about other supposedly "safer" KTV's and saunas which had enjoyed high patronage from local big shots. I. E. Goodview in Qiaotu and Tangxia, Crown Prince Huangjiang etc.

As far as I know, the RG KTV was still open even right after the sauna raid.
About other supposedly "safer" KTV's and saunas which had enjoyed high patronage from local big shots. I. E. Goodview in Qiaotu and Tangxia, Crown Prince Huangjiang etc.
SEAJTangxia Goodview sauna is shut. KTV open BUT very tame. At the nearby Huiwah KTV. 3 guys showed up and demanded girls. Mamasan was alert and explained they cannot provide girls. You have to ask the girls yourselves. Who are conveniently located outside the rooms, just like a date. When asked about "xiao fui", mamasan asked the man to clarify. Etc etc. The girls demaned the men buy lotys of drinks, fruits were charged for etc etc. There are a number of sting operations going on. The jungle tom tom is beating the length and breath of our happy land.

It's been 3 years since I've been to the Walter (Hua Tai Jiu Dian) KTV which is located next to McDonald and across from Hui Hua hotel. One of my regular customer frequently stayed there and he had a group of friends go there last week and suggested to me to try it out. I was very hesitant to do so as it is one of the smaller less known KTV in town but at the urging and a bit of curiosity I arranged a small party there last night and to my delight, it was a very pleasant surprise indeed.
Walter offers alcohol packages and the WGs are in one category 3-6-9. Overall, the attitude of the girls were good and possibly its because the mommy that I booked the room with had 4-5 (13 total. 2 lunchbox) of her girls in the room. Additionally, with the crackdowns going on, the WGs are more eager to work so that they have an opportunity to earn additional money outside of the KTV. The only draw back and as in most smaller KTVs there are not many girls to choose from. I estimate that we saw about 120 girls max but of course some have probably been selected by other people in other rooms prior to coming into ours.
For the regulars that come to CP that frequent the top tier KTVs in town, I recommend that you give this diamond in the rough a try but keep your reservations that you will not have a big selection of WGs to choose from. The rooms have recently been renovated and the sound system is good but you will not see a big selection of updated American music.

The storm clouds gathering above Dong Guan are, just that, clouds. Sometimes the rain does come down on you, if you are brave enough to go into a sauna, even the Royal Garden sauna. The word is many saunas are operating in secret mode. But why would you ever go to a sauna if you have to watch over your shoulder? It kills the mood. There are, of course, some people who obtain a Chinese visa because they do not declare overseas criminal matters and some do provide sufficient information to embassies to obtain a visa despite a declared criminal matter but these latter are in the minority.
I hope this throws some light on the matter for those unlucky enough to be caught in the current campaigns.

So I've been in CP for a few days and have spent the time catching up with BruceTea and ASNdragon. I was aware of the crackdown and was sure lucky these guys were around the first night I arrived. In fact, Bruce booked our rooms so that the 3 of us are right next to each other which is pretty awesome. Haha. On my first night, I was planning to go straight to a chicken run but the usual mommies outside SWL are no longer around, it used to be so easy as you only need to step outside of the hotel to be accosted by mommies but that night I walked up and down SWL without been harassed at all! All the venues have now been moved to around 10 mins walk and instead of located within a cluster, they are now in different directions which makes viewing a hassle in this heat and humidity! Quality is still pretty good, I had a sauna girl from a BBS who is there because all the saunas in CP are now closed so in a way, you will probably find more variety. Also, if you go late to BBS now you'll have slim pickings given most customers book these girls overnight given the lack of sauna action at the moment.
Last night I went to Dave's KTV party at Yihao, there is no flower street but Yihao is known for quality not quantity and I was more than pleased with the line ups that we had, I could have picked quite a few and ended up with 2 (2-6-9 and 3-7-10). There was a bunch of guys in the room celebrating a bucks night which was awesome. Wanted to share my report from CP this past week and provide a "on the ground" perspective (hint: things are tough, but the sky has not fallen).
When I got into town I two of the regulars in this thread. One in particular helped me a lot even though he was out of town (thanks bro!). It was my first time in CP. There is still activity, but I can tell things are a bit on edge, and there are certainly fewer options for a white Canadian guy who speaks no Mandarin or Cantonese. But, one of the reasons I wanted to go (other than to visit the legenday CP and have some fun) was to support CP and not let the crackdown kill the industry. All-in-all I had a good time and met some interesting bros. Without giving details of where, how, etc, here's my short report.

Had to go through some hoops as they are on edge, but eventually found myself in a room where three groups of about 20-ish girls were brought in at a time. Not KTV quality, but there were a couple I liked. I ended up picking a girl who had a decent body, a uniquely pretty face, and a nice smile. Be as cheap-skated as how most of us are, don't splash out / go on fancy spending sprees at KTV's, footsies, restaurants and just do not draw attention to yourself as being their next prey. Remember that you ARE way more economically privileged than most of the CP people. And like it or not, China IS still very xenophobic.
And drawing attention to yourselves includes small / subtle things as insisting on playing your own kind of music I / o KTV singing (I've heard a gal say "What, our way of partying is not good enough?") , over-ordering / wasting food at regular restaurants, having multiple gals to simultaneously massage you at a footsie, carrying around / using too many electronics, over-dressing and of course ALL mannerism to convey that one is a Big Swinging / Spending Dick.
Just be careful out there guys! Yes, money IS the most (if not only) attraction for most denizens of CP, but I've just seen too many examples of guys overdoing it by splashing cash around to make up for their otherwise lack of desirable / attractive features.

Yes I like to report that it's true right now everywhere in southern China. I had received a weird phone call on my cell phone last night this guy was claiming to be my cousin and I know for a fact that my cousin does not go to Shenzhen and has a China number. I believed him for a second when I asked him why his voice sounded a little different and he said he had been drinking. He wanted to have dinner with me in Shenzhen. After a few more words his accent gave it away and I told him I am out of town until end of the year. I don't know what this guy was trying to pull but when asked about who he was he could answer that he was a cousin with the same sir name. So be careful guys of who you give your phone number to even the most innocent person can not be trusted.
As for using names and places for reporting here I suggest to use a language called Speakingnese like when younger so no one around you knows what you are talking about except the ones with the formula. And the formula is you take the syllable break it down and you say them backwards and add "nese" to the word. I will break down the chances for you here with simple poker math. There are 615 hotels listed in Trip Adviser dot com for Dongguan. There are probably more but lets just use this figure. So the probability of something happening would be something happening divided by total chances. Here we have 1 out of 615. So the odds would be ODDS = Probability. 1 so subtract 1 from 615 and you get the odds equals 1 to 614. Therefore, the 1 to 614 odds of getting raided in your hotel per day would be expressed as 614 to 1 odds. Calculate odds as a percentage for another way to look at your chances and you would get 0. 168. Another word the chances of getting raided for the whole entire day at one hotel would be 0. 168% however you are not there for the whole 24 hours so the odds within the odds of getting raiding in a ST session would be another 11 to 1 odds. So in conclusion you have a better chance in holding pocket aces which is 221 to 1 odds and getting bad beaten by someone with another pocket pair with in a five card poker hand with a 52 card deck.

Enough girls will be scared and go home that would be more difficult to find girls for sex.

The action is still there. It just takes more effort to source it out which is a bit of an inconvenience. And, one must exercise a bit of caution not to get caught in the fray.

Ok if it's targeted then that makes the odds even lower than random raids. Because they would have to do this daily to get these odds and to carry out an investigation will take months before they perform one operation that brings down the odds quite dramatically. And as for LE to be sitting in hotel's security room watching, unless something came down at that premise I highly doubt it.

LE is not too dumb. They don't go around breaking into hotel rooms at random.
From the tape, looks like LE was out to get the foreign hookers. They had investigated, followed and planned to catch them in their acts. LE was going after specific girls. Hotels had to cooperate by giving them the room numbers they checked into.
If you patronize these hookers, the odds of getting caught in the act by LE is significantly higher than random probability.
There are security video cameras everywhere inside and outside hotels. Changping LE could be sitting in hotel's security room, watching video monitors for guys and KTV girls from the time they enter the hotel, riding elevator, walking in hallway, giving them 5 minutes in the rooms to take their clothes off, then use management keys to open the doors to catch them naked on top of each other. .
LE can make the girls sing by squeezing them just a little, and make the charges stick. Looks like the sex industry in China is being decimated.

Enough girls will be scared and go home that would be more difficult to find girls for sex.
You can try various ways, but it would be a long stretch to convince the judge that a known sex worker is really your girl friend. Would be interesting to find out what happened to the other guys and girls who were arrested.
Perhaps Changping's sex industry will try more discreet ways to work around the laws to sell sex. What are they going to do with all those 600 or so hotels and saunas that were built to sell sex?

It's always good to have a macro perspective of CP, rather than just focus on the events that have unfolded in the past 2 months or so.
I'm betting my chips that this thing will blow over. It will take time, but slowly, but surely the trade will come back to life again in the next couple of months.

But I do think that he is perhaps a bit inaccurate in his assessment of the ongoing Yanda. And yes, its still going on right now! Got a report from another forum that last night LE from another town were hard at work at the Fuhao KTV where he was partying at as well as at a couple other KTV's in CP.
One thing that OAH perhaps did not take into account is the present conditions surrounding this particular yanda; that it is politically motivated PLUS that the socio-economic conditions in China is IMHO, ripe for a fundamental change as to how the water trade is going to be tackled in the future.
China has become too "rich" for things like RMB 100. 250 BBS's which does NOT primarily cater to their own populace and instead has a mostly foreigner / Hong Kong / Taiwan clientelle. Or saunas that are just out and out hoor-houses. Or KTV's where the bulk of the earned income goes straight to the provider's pocket instead of to an establishment which can be taxed properly.
Yes, the water trade will still go on, but what I worry about is that it is NOT going to be in the way that most of all had gotten accustomed to and really appreciate.

China's LE don't care whether what you're doing is legal or not, assessment on legality is what they interpret themselves! Like I said in my previous post, I think that what is going on is a fundamental change in the way that the water trade is going to be "handled" in the future.
And I sure do think that one of the things they want to tackle is China's growing reputation and actual transformation as an International sex destination, with CP at the forefront of such. And our "resident guide's" growing reputation for basically accommodating ONLY foreign punters.
Whether I'm right or totally wrong, I'd think / totally IMHO, that its best that our resident guide do lay low for a while. At least until things settle down a bit and one does have a clearer indication as to what is what.

I agree with this assessment.
As long as soliciting, buying, pimping and selling sex etc. Stay in the books as crimes, local authorities are required to enforce the laws. If the crimes are rampant and obvious, making China look bad, catching the attention and ire of the big leaders, that would make local authorities look bad, potentially bringing down punishments, or at least reducing or eliminating their chances for holding on to their jobs with lots of perks.
But it very likely that local authorities must be getting a piece of the pie from this big industry, the only industry in Changping, that brings in lots of money. So local guys don't want to kill the goose that give them golden eggs. Like all other countries, they most likely don't have enough resources to completely eradicate relatively harmless crimes like prostitution. They probably have their hands full solving and preventing other serious crimes.
So when the big bosses in Beijing are pissed off that the little girls are whoring themselves out in droves to foreigners and make China look bad, local authorities would put on the occasional shows to convince their bosses that they are indeed busting the crimes of immediate concerns. A number of scapegoats are likely to be required to show concrete results to their bosses. The local guys end up getting medals from Beijing for fighting crimes, at the same time lucrative bribes and free sexy sessions with the girls from KTS' and saunas. It's good to be the local kings.
In the long run, the market will find ways to sell the supply to the demand at acceptable prices, while bribing the right authorities to stay in business. It's only the oldest profession in human history and the largest profession in Changping.

Are notoriously difficult to not only tax, but equally hard to control against gang activity, drugs, girl trafficking etc and I'd think they'd be the first ones to be blitzed out of existence. A lot of Chinese I know, young and old, are still hurt and angry about how European colonists were making obscene profits while corrupting and poisoning China's population by selling opium. Smaller European countries managed to weaken the population, divide the country then dominated, abused, exploited China and her people without mercy.
I don't see PR China will ever decriminalize or legalize prostitution, drugs or gambling any time soon. They would never sacrificed million of lives in their revolution then go back to the corrupt ways of Chinese warlords in the last 2 centuries.
The prostitution industry instead of consolidating into larger operations which would be easier for anyone with authority or muscles to control, extort, tax etc. I suspect it will be driven by desperate girls and mommies who need to work to feed their families, and mongers who want to pay not much more than prices in competitive markets in Thailand and the Philippines. Present prices are already very high compared to other countries.
The industry will need to keep its costs down to attract mongers. Eventually it will fragment into many small, nimble, low-cost, discreet operations, more like web-based escort services, or mobile BBSs, which are harder to tax, prosecute or extort.
Web-based escort services is the only thriving business model in the last 3 years in Beijing, where anti-prostitution law has been enforced much more strictly than in other provinces. Hooker bars in Beijing are already in steep decline. Prostitution industry in Changping will follow the same path of that in Beijing, may be only 2 to 3 years behind.

It IS an economic power and one that is paranoid about keeping up "International appearances." On top of that, there is now the added incentive for each and every village, municipality, centers to fill up their "quota" of arrests and the fact that LE's are now cross deployed between such areas. A foreigner is a "prized catch" I'd say - as it will send off a warning shot to declare that China is NOT a sex destination. So instead of being just "too much trouble to process" foreigner should now be double careful - as easy as they are to spot and be taken in!! I certainly wouldn't want to be THAT foreigner who gets arrested and paraded around for the world to see! And this recent poisoning/death of that British national and the arrest and conviction of such a politically high profile perpetrator - you think there's not gonna be any repercussions to foreigners? Something which had actually already happened in Beijing, Guangzhou and other places right after that top cop sought asylum in the U.S. consulate.
Of course all this IMHO and I truly hope I'm wrong. But being on the ground here, I really am expecting the worst for a long time to come. Maybe we all need to relocate to other places like Danshui, HuiZhou or?

Things ALWAYS go back to normal. It may not be in the same place, and CP might very soon be very different than it was in the past, but that doesn't mean the flesh trade is going anywhere. Come on Joe, you know know as well as I do, if you want a girl, all you got to do is call someone. Maybe it won't be as open or as "in your face" as it was in the past, but it'll still be easy to find, especially if you're HKese. The foreigners might have a harder time, but that's the way it always is. If you have a couple of contacts, you won't have any problems getting what you want, especially if you have cash to blow.
The Chinese powers that be have no reason to get rid of the sex trade. Their biggest problem in the coming decades is social instability from income disparity. Prostitution is one of the very few mechanisms by which income gets redistributed from the rich to the poor, and also from the urban centers to the rural farmlands. For them, it's win win. Of course a modern society doesn't condone prostitution, especially since it usually involves unsavory characters, so they make a big show of knocking it down a peg or two every now and then. They wait the appropriate amount of time, then let the local constabulary know they can go back to augmenting their paychecks. Every now and then, some areas get too much publicity, then they have to get rid of it, but the flesh trade moves on, they just go somewhere else, and it's just a matter of finding it again.
There's one other thing I should mention. The economics of the flesh trade also stipulate it has to move, and not just for legal reasons. As an area becomes a destination for large groups of people, it's inevitable that the area also develops support mechanisms for those people. There will be more hotels, more restaurants, more everything, and that makes the area a bigger destination, and thus more businesses to support those new people come in, which in tune invites more people. Eventually, the area is just too popular to be just a sex destination. That's what happened to some places in Seoul Korea, it happened to multiple places in Shenzhen. Most likely, it'll happen in CP. The nature of the flesh trade is that it has to be a bit grungy, and a bit out of the way. Once a place is full of high rises and nice families, it's time to move on.
Do I think it will be business as usual soon? Yes. But that doesn't mean it will be business as usual in CP. From now on you might have to go to some other grungy little town, but mark my words, it'll be there.

I think most would agree that South Korea is further along in economic development than China. Per capita GDP is significantly higher, and income disparity isn't as bad. In the old days, and by that I mean like 10 years ago. In the main part of the city, there used to be a bunch of RLDs. They're all basically gone now because they built high rises and stuff in their place. So what do horny guys do now? It seems now there are a bunch of what they call officetels, full of girls working out of small apartments. I haven't been to one, but hearing it described, makes me think it's very similar to those 141 girls in HK. After the closing of the RLD, dozens if not hundred of the equivalent of low budget KTVs opened up all over the city. No, it will be there but the question is in what shape / form AND price. And I believe you've basically answered that question as far as CP is concerned; its going to be way more expensive, more concentrated in larger / plush complexes. This transformation has taken place in too many places in China. I mean, nowadays regular room rates in Sanya can go up to RMB 8, 000 / night during the CNY. That's how ridiculously expensive things can get. Especially when compared to the hordes of anywhere to 100 one used to be surrounded by just by driving to a RLD in the old days. And remember CP's own Night market? When the same thing would happen and we bargained it down to RMB 130 / pop? That is already history 2 or 3 years ago!
The CP we all love and cherish will soon just be fond memories and if one wants to relive "the Old Days," well, its going to cost and one ain't going to enjoy it as much!

Also, whenever my friends and I go to Korea, we never have a guide. We just hop in a cab, talk to the cabbie. If that doesn't get anywhere, we get off somewhere that's crowded, eventually somebody will start talking to us. Now they have a procedure which I won't disclose but makes you worried. It should reset in October, but I expect the quality to be down, and the low end options to decrease. Certainly we will not see KTV girl rates go down to attract customers.

I think most would agree that South Korea is further along in economic development than China. Per capita GDP is significantly higher, and income disparity isn't as bad. All of you have made good points which I agree with for the most part. I will try to put my thoughts into a 4P marketing perspective:
Product: I agree with SEAJ. The offering is definitely moving into a more premium segment. In most China markets, the low end is diminishing such as the hutong action like the old Catacombs, the 35-40 RMB HK joints and even neighborhood BBS. You are hard pressed to find a single, traditional style, BBS in places like Shenzhen and Guangzhou where years ago they seemed to be on every corner. Look what happened to Sha Tsui, Seibu, Walmart, Jusco in Shenzhen and the Ramada shops in Guangzhou.
Price: No doubt prices are increasing. 250 RMB for BBS in CP has stuck. I reckon it will go to 300 RMB soon. KTV has developed all kinds of marketing gimmicks to charge more for the girls, the models, different basic price levels, etc. And, saunas are not offering the cheap deals anymore and there are very few girls at the lower price points.
Place: In CP, there has been a shift from BBS to KTV and saunas if the girls can handle it e. G. Drinking and more structure. There used to be far my BBS options even in good times. Basically, the same girl can charge more for the same service. This trend will continue. Many saunas were closed for 1-2 days. But these three areas of crackdown really provide billions of RMB if not USD in the economy in sectors directly and indirectly involved. I bet you that just this crackdown alone has brought sales down in Hotels, travel, tourism, Alcohol industries, real estate and beyond. You can imagine that the billions of dollars that were circulating-contributing to the multiplier effect of China's growth is all of a sudden being shut off.
Just take KTVs and Saunas for example. A factory / Business Owner, has tons of revenue and money in his bank. He wants and needs to expense out his account. He usually spends tens of thousands of RMB on KTV parties and charges his threesome sauna sessions on his company account as a "hotel expenditure" His money goes to the WG who buys clothes / makeup, eats at restaurants, takes the local taxi, rents an apartments nearby etc. She sends the rest of her money back to her parents in the countryside and thus they end up spending and helping their village's economy grow as well. Of course this slowdown would not be as profound, but I think it would be quite significant seeing how the world economies are all slowing down as well: Euro Zone, US, Australia (due to lack of China's raw material purchases) , Singapore and all the Asian tiger nations.
Illicit trades are never things for any nation to advocate, but during these upcoming hard times, let's hope that the central government focuses more on the important issues, rather than poor WG who are just trying to make a living.

AsnDragonWhilst I don't have any arguments against your premise that the illicit trade in China does make up quite a significant portion of its present GDP, I do have my own thoughts as to the direction that the powers-that-be will take to tackle this quandary.
China's powers-that-be have repeatedly shown that it is more concerned with its own survival than the welfare of its people, which is only a poor second in importance to them. As such, whilst the present "displacements" occurring in the illicit trade does affect the livelihood of many, I believe it is happening with the explicit desire for the government not only to rein in such face-loosing illegal activities, but more importantly, to replace / supplant it with activities which will bring in more tax dollars to the government.
Yes, the water trade and other illicit activities (and its trickle down effect) do have a significant impact on the nation's total GDP. But much of such is NOT taxed properly and only serves to enrich the very people who ARE a bane to civilized society. The counterfeiters, the gangs, the producers of harmful foodstuff, the hookers, pimps etc. So what can be better than to try to "centralize" and control such activities to larger and easier to handle / tax entities; Big expensive hotel KTV's, saunas, counterfeit producers now forced to produce their own brand of genuine product, throwing out BBS's and small time WG / Counterfeit etc activities etc. Instead have these shops and apartments now for proper housing and places for proper businesses for the populace etc.
That is what I see happening right now as China can now well afford to stamp out a lot of these less savoury economic activities. This "transformation" had taken place in many countries and Taiwan is one prime example of this. In the 60's and 70's Taiwan was THE place to party, get counterfeit books, records, clothing etc. One can literally save money even flying in from Hong Kong / paying the hotel etc costs to party just for a week-end vs doing so in Hong Kong. But this all changed late 70's early 80's when the Taiwan economy rocketed up.
The same with us coming from Hong Kong (and other parts) to party in CP nowadays. We still do save a heckuva lot. But I think most of us are already feeling the beginning of the end of this era with everything going up in price. No need for you guys to bemoan the future of our favorite hobby in China. But If they do devalue the yuan, there will be a heated currency war among the EU and US as both their economies are hoping that the stronger yuan will help their exports trickle into the households of middle-income Chinese residents.
But if cutting interest rates will not help jump start the economy again, then devaluing their currency may be one of their last moves they have to make to help out with GDP growth. But in the meantime they have lots of tools, more tools than what the US has at least. They could, cut interest rates, increase lending, increase public sector infrastructure spending on low income housing which is still needed, increasing tax credit incentive to exporters, or the central government could just start handing more money out to farmers for free (which they already do in many rural provinces but nobody wants to admit) and hope that they will end up spending and creating a multiplier effect in spurring growth.
Who knows, China is very mysterious afterall.

They're already doing it now. Not only that, the consensus early in the year was that China was going to revaluate the Yuan by 10 percent within 12 months. This was already priced into the markets. Doesn't look like that's going to happen. If the Yuan doesn't move, that's as good as devalueing it. Remember 2008? After allowing the Yuan to revalue about 21 percent in 3 years, they stopped it once China's GDP growth rate slowed down. 7 years ago, the Yuan was priced at about 5RMB per 1USD in 2015, and that was the goal everybody wanted except China. Doesn't look it's going to happen. The US and Eurozone can ***** and moan all they want, if China doesn't want to do it, they won't. Besides, the Eurozone crisis is really a problem they have to solve themselves, maybe with some help from the IMF. There are members of Eurozone that are doing quite well, Germany in particular. Germany exporting more Mercedes to China isn't going to help countries like Greece or Spain even a tiny bit.
EDIT: There is one other thing to consider I guess. The US is facing the so called "fiscal cliff" come Dec. 31st 2012. Depending on the outcome of the elections and how the fiscal cliff is resolved, the results of which could throw the US into a major recession, the US could place serious pressure on China to revaluate the Yuan some more. Depending on the amount of pressure, China might very well agree to continue the Yuan revaluation. pain relief did not work and doctors told his wife they had found "bad bacteria", and that two days on antibiotics should clear it up, but his condition worsened dramatically.
he had surgery that night to obtain tissue samples. on sunday doctors warned his employer, who asked not to be named, that this particular strain of bacteria seemed resistant to antibiotics and the only thing left was amputation, but the bacteria might already have spread throughout his bloodstream and it might be too late.
ronald never regained consciousness and despite his leg being amputated at the hip in a second operation on sunday, he died on monday night, august 13.

according to the health department, ronald's death is the third from necrotising fasciitis they can officially confirm since july 1, with a surge to nine cases of the disease in the last six weeks.
this prompted an infectious disease expert and former lawmaker to call for a public campaign to warn people of the dangers.
dr lo wing-lok said that although the health department issues regular warnings, people were not listening."they should tell the public more about this."
necrotising fasciitis, also known as flesh-eating disease, results from bacteria entering the body via a small wound, or a sore throat, said lo.

While I was there my observations are:
KTV: Operating as usual but sometimes there are raids when your singing, partying will be interupted. The Managers will rush in turn off all the sound equipment and sometimes even the lights! That sort of kills the mood right?
Saunas: Operating as usual but they are on "Pre-bookings" only. You need to call up Saunas manager to do that. Even with booking, it is advice to take the girl to your hotel if you are staying in the same hotel where the Saunas are located. You wouldn't wants Gong An to rush into your Sauna rooms when you are about to shoot your load do you?
BBS: In undercover mode. You don't go to them, the girls come to your room after contacts with the mummy via the cell. Of course this ended the fun of Chicken run and there are no quality or preference assurance.
Hotel rooms. I had not heard of any hotels guest room in CP been raided except for the one in Dalang. The LE must have a very valid reason before they can bash into your your hotel room. Actually for the newbies: it will be better to go to saunas in the same hotel as where you stay, example is like the Virgin, Hui Hwa, if you don't feel safe, you can pick your girl and have them come up to your room later. Of course, you do not enjoy the "facilties" and the same services as what you get in the Saunas.

agyeah, it does suck when the cops come by. the first time it was kind of interesting. first time i ever saw anything like it. it was pretty deep into the night, almost midnight so it wasn't too bad. i vaguely remember one girl got so drunk she passed out and then peed herself because someone was already in the bathroom and she couldn't hold it in. the second time wasn't as interesting. just walked out, and went back to the hotel. that time it also happened pretty late too. i get the feeling the owners talk to them to get them to come by late, or else i get the feeling the customers wouldn't pay the bill. the manager guy both times told us it wasn't a big deal, that they just have to close early.

I got a couple of messages about tipping girls, and why I'm so apparently vehemently opposed to it. I'll take a minute or two to explain it. First of all, it does a great disservice to the long term guys who live in the area. That's a very important consideration, perhaps the most important consideration, because without them and their kindness, a lot of people in the forum, especially newbies, would be lost.
The second reason is a bit more personal and I'll explain. I can speak a reasonable amount of putonghua, I'm not going to get into deep discussions about world literature with any of the girls, but I can talk about mundane stuff just fine. Because I can speak the lingo, I do talk to the girls. Previously, I actually had something that resembled a relationship with some of the girls. I even had a stalker for a little bit. Anyway, the point is, one of the things I talked to girls about was guys paying them extra money. Now, most girls aren't going to be honest with you. Trust takes time to build, and nobody is going to offer up what's truly on their minds the first time they see you, maybe not even the tenth time. After a few months though, a certain amount of trust develops and you do share something that might be considered meaningful conversation. So I ask the girls what their feelings are towards their chosen profession, their feelings towards their customers, what they think of the money and stuff like that, things I'm curious about. They in turn ask me a lot of things about what it's like to live in the US, to travel outside of China, what my family is like, what kind of car I drive, how much I paid for my iPhone, how much money I make, things like that.
Invariably though, when the conversation turns towards what the girls feel towards their customers, it's contempt. They think it's contemptible that so many married guys look for paid sex. They feel contempt for the single guys too, because they think those guys have a screw loose. Here, here, well said! Whilst not a prolific poster to ISG, I've been living in country for 10 year including a good portion in DG (back a few years). There are a few situations to tip and many to not tip. I have taken a similar approach as you over the years. Never tipping KTV, sauna or bar working girls. A massage place girl that comes to my place and performs FS above and beyond for a long time customer, I will tip. A BBS girl who needs 10rmb for a cab, OK; even a long time "freeby" I tip (gift) so she can buy a gift for her daughter.

I am thinking about the USA. After all, if you believe these doomsday toothsayers on here, cheap mongering in China is over for good. That said, I was just in Shazui (SZ) this week and still paid 150 RMB ST even though there are less than 5% of the girls there were in the old days. I have it from excellent sources that Hu Bei Cun is still 130 RMB and, although, most BBS are gone in Panyu, my only neighborhood BBS is still 130+20 RMB BDS (Big Dick Surcharge).
So, I am not giving up until the last opportunity is gone.

How can you come back to USA after so many decades away? In fact, please take my word for it, USA is really nothing to come to anymore. It's a broken system here and after being in Asia for so long, it's so hard to come back to this isolated lonely country.

Stay in China. However corrupt or Dirty the environment may be, it's still beats the darkness and emptiness that the USA has to offer. At least China has hopes of real change and real hope. The USA is just hanging onto the glory days of yesteryear.
I predict that you coming back to the USA will be like all the other times. You come back for a few days and you can't stand it here and you realize the reason why you left the USA in the first place and go on back to good old China. Where supply of WG may be low these days, but can always be found. Don't even talk about WGs, you could get any freebie whenever you want anyways.

The purpose of the regular checks is to show you who's boss and to prove they know everything that's going on. The conspiracy minded folks might think it's to prepare the owners for the eventual shakedown.
A raid is to shut down the operation, like what frequently happens to BBS's.IMHO, BBS rarely get physically raided during business hours. They are asked to shut down in a certain location for a certain period of time to keep somebody happy. During this time, they may move around in a cat and mouse game. I think this is the same case with KTV and sauna to a certain extent. Like I said before, I don't think many people go to jail in this industry in China. As you say, most of the time it is just a show of force for the benefit of somebody higher up the ladder.

Wow! What a reunion! It feels like 2004 all over again. All we need back is Weelock, fast Eddie, Wadman and OWL and you got the whole crew all back again. Wouldn't all you guys agree that CP really has changed a lot these years? Feels like it was just yesterday. 8 years passes by just like that. While others have moved on to different cities or even gone home, the memories of CP shall and always will remain. Regardless of all the animosity or laughter shared, I think we can agree to disagree.

For the well being of the establishments, I will not mentioned any names here but tension and fear has been eased up a bit for the past week. I can't report on the BBS as most of my customers do not partake or ask me to take them to the BBS but as far as I know, most of them are still closed but will send girls to the customer's hotel room for known or repeat customers only.
All but one sauna is operating with girls in uniform. None that I know is operating on the sauna floors but there are an over abundance of girls as I took various groups of individuals to 4 difference saunas in the past week and have seen no shortage of WGs. Service is not the same as they do not have the waterbed in the room to use and with extra time, most of the girls do not know what to do to please the customers so feedback is that service is not as good as if they were working in the sauna rooms.
All KTVs are opened and one of the top one has its full flower street opened on the primary floor instead of in the supplemental floor. The two top place in town are still doing line-ups but word is that full flower street with uniform may start again as soon as September 1st. I actually saw a WG purchasing a uniform today. I have been to six different KTVs in town for the past two weeks and did not experience any inspection. WGs are less tense and are very eager to work so things are looking up and I hope that it will continue with the trend with full blown flower street soon on the horizon.
The economy has been greatly affected by the crackdowns and inspections and today I heard from a local business man that there are many changing of the guards in the governmental post all throughout Guangdong. Things may never go back to what it was before the crackdown started but hopefully it will return to some normacy so that we can all enjoy the "scenery" in CP again soon.

It has now moved near Yanlan Hotel. It's closer to a hotel called something like "Yait Hai" which is across the street from Yanlan. The quantity and quality was bad compared to before. They only had about 18 to 20 girls in the room. Sad, most of the BBS are CLOSED that I know of so far.
Another BBS is behind Lucky Hotel was even worst. She said she had 5 but I only saw 2 when I walked up 3 floors of stairs.

I really, really, really feel bad that all this is happening and I hope that everything will be better in time. I really miss the BBS's. Here are a couple of photos of some girls I did, maybe these can console those who yearn for better days. Great memories, especially of one girl named FeiFei. If there is interest, I will post some more in the China photo gallery and of other girls. I use the characters 妃妃 as a joke since 妃 means concubine. It is more fitting than 菲菲 and closer to the truth. She was a tremendously good screw but, in the end, she was not so nice. Predictable but highly enjoyable while it lasted. At least she was not afraid of laowai schlongs, even liked them.
