I was in Tucuman for a couple of weeks. The city is beautiful and full of historical landmarks (Tucuman is our Philadelphia, where the Indeendence declaration took place), but not much to do for a tourist. Unless you plan to visit the Valles Calchaquíes (after Tafí del Valle and Amaichá del Valle, way north to Salta), It wouldn't be worth the visit.
As for the local ladies, their are beautiful but the Argentine Nortwest (NOA) is characterized by being the oldest and most conservative region of the country (similar to New England respect to America, being Buenos Aires comparable to San Francisco, CA). I doubt that middle-class ladies be so open in such a rigid Catholic-family based society.

I worked for 2 months in Tucuman helping an American engineer in an industrial project. As non-Spanish speaking foreigners, he and his family had hard times in Tucuman to eat out, enjoy local entertaiment and going outdoors in the weekends.
I went out to eat with young and middle-aged American engineers at nights, and none of them received smiles form girls, either in Restaurants or on the streets.
I, as a local, found the city very beautiful and had the oportunity to interact with local engineers and local workers, as well as some non-pros. The culture of the city is pretty conservative, at least at first sight. You eat even better than in BA and people takes their time to work and enjoy life, nothing rushed, but nothing really wild either.
Maybe things changed in the past 3 years due to starving and recession. Maybe there is more action than I think. But for sure the NOA is not as cosmopolitan and open as Buenos Aires.
Just my personal view.

San Miguel de Tucuman Province, Tucuman City: went to a place called Gel last night with my local friend. It's just like many of the places we know in BA only they have live sex shows with some local studs and they also pull local chicas (yes, local chicas go there to watch the sex shows) out of the audience and try to entice them into having sex with the studs. There was a large selection of local Tucumanas there including some outstanding ones. There are no rooms on premise and you pretty much have to take the chicas to a local telo. Me and my friend each picked a chica and set out in my friend's car to go to the local telo which was just like a McDonalds drive through - you literally drive right up to a spot with a two way speaker just like where you order your take out food and tell them what type of room you want from a list of several different types like with or without jacuzzi, etc, etc, and how much time you want. Then you drive right into a garage with an automatic door and the door closes after you drive in. Then you get out of the car and they buzz the room to the door open and you go in.
This is definitely not for the English only speaking folks, it's advisable to have a local guide since there wasn't a single word of English spoken there. I also found out the hard way (no pun intended) that I'm not much into the two couples on the same king size bed thing, found it impossible to get aroused with an audience and also had dropped about 10 loads in the 3 previous days and didn't have the benefit of the little blue vitamin (boy could I have used it last night). The chica I selected was magnificent looking in face and body, probably easily a 9 but she was very young and showed impatience with me in my unfortunate predicament last night and showed it about every 20 seconds (THIS just isn't working! she kept reminding me which really pissed me off to no end). So here's a case where being with close to a 10 just didn't do it for me - it was also near 5 am and I'd been drinking Fernet with Coke and wine all night and like I said, about 10 loads in the three previous days including yesterday morning.
The sex show was real, besos negros, blow jobs, fucking, the works and the stud starts out doing a strip tease and he comes out fully "ready" having tanked up on Viagra and having been blown in the back room in advance.
So I'd say that if you're fluent in Spanish or have a local guide and have a car at your disposal that this would be a nice, fun place to hang and find some nice sex but failing those qualifiers I'd probably recommend against checking out "Gel". Dickhead, what I did was get a round trip ticket on Aerolineas Argentinas to Tucuman with a stopover in BA, spent 3 great days in BA. And today I found out that AA was willing to let me fly to BA today without penalty even though my flight is supposed to leave tomorrow from Tucuman. They said as long as there's a seat available since I'm going through BA anyway I can change my itinerary.
Dickhead, in answer to your question, yes, without a doubt you could have a great time here if you're able to mix it up in Castallano. I've been having so much fun here it ought to be illegal. Saw Silvina, the girl from my last post again today, same $80P for 2 hours plus the $15 pesos for the nice, clean room. This girl has an amazing 5'7 or 5'8" body and knows how to use it and is out there to please her company as long as her company shows some interest in pleasing her. Silvina works by word of mouth only and works as a secretary during the day but apparently has quite a following. But make no mistake about it, my local friend has told me repeatedly that the $80 pesos is an Argentinian price that he arrange by telling Silvina I was his client.
This has been quite the girlfriend experience...after the bed wrestling session where I fired and refired once with lots of cuddling and great bed talk in between, we went to get ice cream and along the way ran into one her amigas, a Turquita who's not in the business. I treated the two to ice cream and while a street shoe shine man shined my shoes we took digital pics of the two of them and of Silvina and myself. We then set out to find a "casa de fotos" that prints directly from your memory card while you wait. EXITO!!! Two pesos per print, Silvina had her pics of her gringo friend and then we shared a cab while en route to my friend's office.
It's not unbearably hot here at all, lately it's been anything but 100 degrees, it's been about 75-85, apparently unseasonably cool. But this place is surrounded by mountains and if you can find a nice chica and invite her to a place called Tafi del Valle, you'll find yourselves about 9,000' up in a valley town in the foothills of the Andes surrounded by gorgeous, lush moutains and greenery. There you can go boating, mountain climbing, moutain biking, buy trinkets from the Coya Indians, swim in the hotel pool or just gaze at this indescribable natural beauty. The drive from Tucuman is only 2 hours but the second hour is spend going very slowly around one hairpin turn after another.
Dickhead, the flight from Aeroparque Newberry is just under 2 hours, like NY to Atlanta, maybe not even as far as Atlanta.
Finally, I've found the people here to be an utter delight, as I find the Porteños, but these people are more provincial and beat to a slower drum but there are tons of great restaurants and lots of plazas and parks like BA. On a 1-10 scale I give this place an easy 10 and would end with that there are thousands of gorgeous girls with the same unbelievable figures running around. DownBA
went to a club called harlem in the centro last night, great little place right in el centro, just like the ba clubs we all know and love except smaller and not nearly as plush. lots of chicas sitting and standing around, some very beautiful and sexy. $80 pesos per hour plus $15p for the telo which is down the street, unlike the setup at gel where you really have to have a car to get to a love shack.

had a difficult time understanding her as i've noted that some of the local chicas have a drastically different speech pattern than porteñas. their "r" is radically different and sounds halfway between the sound the porteñas make when they pronounce the "y" or "ll" sound and the "r" that porteñas make but it throws me off even though i have no trouble understanding the vast majority of what the vast majority of the locals say. seems to be a big difference in speech pattern along socio-economic lines.
there is a very well established network of acompañantes here but they work with people they know and ones that are referred to them so it seems like you need an in with these chicas. silvina from my other posts is really much, much more like a courtesan, she's very selective about who she runs around with and travels all over argentina and south america to be with her amigos.

San Miguel de Tucuman province has some of the most awesome beauty you're ever going to see too, by the way, apart from having a very nice chica scene as I found out during my recent visit. Nearby there's a place call Tafi del Valle, which is a valley at 9000 feet above sea level in the foothills of the Andes mountains, absolutely gorgeous. A nice thing to do would be to grab a chica from Tucuman City or BA and book a trip up there since it's utterly beautiful and relaxing and you can do horseback riding, mountain hiking, moutain biking, fishing, cycling on the beautiful roads including hairpin turns, etc, and there are outdoor parillas all over the place and lots of "regionales" or trinkets made by the Coya Indians that live in the area. At night you can hear a pin drop it's so quiet and tranquil. There are 360 degrees of mountain vistas suitable for picture postcards. I was in Tucuman for a short stay a while ago. Arrived on a Sunday and we proceeded to ask the taxi driver to take us to some of the places DownBA had suggested, (Harlem/Gel, (some other name on the outside). Unfortunately, both were closed! Perhaps just because it was Sunday. So he took us to one small place, of which there appears to be a few. The first place had two girls, not worth doing but one had a nice personality. Price seemed to vary depending what you wanted from the menu, all dirt cheap, full meal deal under 80P. The rooms were upstairs. We then went to another place not too far from Harlem. This time, 4 or 5 girls, 2 doable. 1 other guy there. The time was getting close to 1AM. The girls had been there since 6PM, bored out of their cute little minds. It seems to be an early scene at these little places. They are not allowed to go out with the customers and must proceed upstairs. My buddy struck up a conversation with one, and through much wispering, she gave him her cell number, and he said he would call her the next evening as she was off. Her story was that she was from Tucuman, tried M. d. Plata for a few weeks but found it a bad experience with drunkards, rude people, etc. and came back to Tucuman. My buddy called her the next evening, met her at the main plaza, coffee, then off to a 25P telo, she was 50P or so. Overall, a nice meeting he said.
My experience for the North area is costs are between 30P and 60P max. (There was a 0P one at a dance club in one of the other cities.) The challenge is thus finding one you can hit it off with.

Middleage guy, too bad you didn't get to go to Harlem or Gel, Harlem was teeming with hotties, including the one I was with who claimed to be about 21 but I doubt she was 18 and she was really terrible, one of the few really bad experiences I've had in Argentina having gone there 5 times now over the last 6 years. Gel is also quite amusing and Gel is one of the places that will do a "Servicio Trafic" where they'll load up several girls in like a mini-van and bring them right over to your apartment or hotel and let them strut their stuff and you can keep as many of them as you like to do strip teases and screw your brains out. Happened to be in SMdT recently and went to a place called Residencial Crillon, NOT to be confused with the Crillon in Paris!
It's a small place just outside the centre of Tucuman and has about 6 chicas, varying from fat & ugly to really nice. I had a short session with a really pretty morocha with an ass to die for. Order the Brahma beer that comes with the entrada. Sit and scope out the action. Several small groups of guys and ladies sitting around chatting.
Great, I am the only one solo.
See two attractive young ladies in a animated discussion. It is pretty loud with the music so animation is important. Observe several folks dancing, so I ask the two ladies if they would like to dance? The blonde says no thanks and takes off to another table 30 feet away. The brunette says no, but lets have a seat and talk.
I buy her a drink with sit and chat for a good half hour. During this time the blonde is dancing in front of us. The brunnette asks me if I am interested in two girls. Yes, but they have to like each other is my answer. She assures me that they do like each other and have wanted to be together with a man, but have not done it so far. So, decide to find a taxi and go back to Harlem. Friday night at Harlem is couples night. Since I am alone, it tough luck. Ask for a taxi, ask about chicas. He says let's go to Gel, I say been there done that. Hmm, finally he says that there is house a few blocks away and off we go.

I'm looking for an indoor terma because of the weather. I'll be arriving in BA on Wed. 8-25 for a 2 1/2 wk vacation, was thinking of flying up to Tucuman for a few days.
How much does it cost to fly up there?

Bad Boy, if you book the flight far enough in advance you can get round trip ticks for anywhere from $300-600 pesos.
If you email me privately I can arrange a tour of the good places by a local up there.
Lastly, in Tucuman, you can absolutely ask the concierge at the hotel if they know any girls that will come to your room and many times they'll even have a "book" with pics to show you. The scene is run totally differently there than in BA where mostly all of the girls publicize on the well-known sites we've come to know and love. There's virtually none of the platynum.com.ar type stuff in Tucuman, rather the girls operate mostly by word of mouth.
Don't be afraid to ask the concierge to hook you up, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how open he is to that.
The puti clubs are outside and inside town, Gel is on the fringe and Harlem is right smack in the center of town. When I was in Gel my friend and I went to a drive-through telo with two gorgeous girls, one about 20 and the other about 21 with great bodies and faces. At Harlem there was a pretty nice selection of girls at about midnight and the price I paid was about $65 pesos for an hour and a half with about an 18 year old who looked really nice, had a great body and gave great bbbj but who clearly wasn't liking her job too much and was very new at it. Bay Boy, don't know about street walkers but why would you want to use street walkers when there are so many other opportunities?
As for termas, if you're referring to Rio type termas, don't think they have them. What they have are BA type boliches like Madahoes, Hook, etc., although not nearly as many.
But as I said, the word of mouth chica network is very strong there. A pro that I've become very good friends with told me that if somebody tells her they prefer blondes, she'll call her blonde friends and make the deal happen, etc.

Spent the night in S.M. de Tucuman at the Hotel Tucuman Center again.
After dinner I had a few drinks upstairs in the bar, since it was roumored that available ladies would present themselves subtley.
No luck. Head downstairs to talk with Martin, the night clerk that is young dark haired with round wire rim glasses. As we are chatting a nice dark haired lady walks in, asks Martin how things are going. I stand there like a fly on the wall. She takes off. Hotel Tucuman Center runs about $40 US Dollars a night, located in the downtown area, near the walking mall, and near many restaurants. Staff is great, and the hotel is quite new and clean.
This is a great post since it confirms what I've been saying about how the hotel staffers very typically arrange chicas for the hotel guests. A Tucumano friend of mine assures me that very often the hotel staffers have picture portfolios of the chicas they work with to show the guests. But I sincerely think you paid too much....I was paying P$60-80 pesos in Tucuman for 1-2 hours and my local Tucuman friend sometimes pays P$40. This same friend says that you can often get a girl all night long for P$100-P$200 in Tucuman. YMWV. Seems like you paid BA prices in the provinces, don't forget that the scales are totally different in the provinces and that these girls typically live on about P$1000 per month. Probably have no chance of living on P$1000 per month in BA, especially la Capital Federal.
My acompanante friend from Tucuman says she doesn't need any more than about P$800-900 per month to float her boat. Hope this helps, DownBA
