I have been reading WSG forum for about 3 years. I used it for research on Amsterdam trips and Paris trips. The information that all of you share here is just amazing! I am now planning a one week trip around March 26-April 4, 2004 and have a few questions.

I have been reading several weeks worth of reports for Thailand, Argintenia, and Rio, but I still don't know which would be the best palce to go. Based on your reports, I am leaning heavily toward Rio, which is why I am posting here, but I am not certain.

A few weeks ago, Langer posted some great info on pricing in Rio, but I am still confused about where to exactly go. 90% of my mongering experiences have been in the Amsterdam RLD, which is as simple as going to the RLD, walking down the street looking in the windows, and paying 50 Euros for a 15 minute FS with condom. Where in Rio should I go? Is the action in bars, sex clubs, or what? It sounds like girls in Rio will do BBJ and anal is no problem. Also, I read something about BBJ bars. Where are those?

Also, if anyone has suggestions on where I should go for a great experience, please let me know. I have never had LT experience with pros, but would like to try ths. The 15 minute Amsterdam RLD is just too rushed for me. Thank you!

You got it right Rio Bob, but the strange thing is, its OK for Brazilians to do it, but not foreigners. I think those marchers you photographed the other day would have been more effective down in Vila Mimosa which is 99.99% Brazilian. This thinking goes on all over the world. I found Thailand to be the worst in this respect. If a tourist was ever murdered, somehow the police would always find the "farang" that did it!!

i'm sorry but you are just spouting the same b/s that brazil did and still continues to spout. the bottom line is, yes they did single out americans and only americans. america did not single out brazilians. they fingerprint and photograph anyone from any country that requires a tourist visa to enter the country. this "includes" brazil. what brazil did was childish and it will come back to bite them on the ass if it has not done so already.

also i wanted to touch on the subject of prostitution.
it is perfectly legal for someone to profit from renting their body for sex in brazil if you are over 18 years old. it has been and will continue to be that way for a very long time. it is illegal for any another individual to profit from that rental. sexual slavery in brazil is almost unheard-of.

some people in brazil are using the cover of "child prostitution" to make names for themselves for the next elections here in brazil. with all the raids in the past year they were not able to detain (not arrest, detain) more than a handful of **** girls. child prostitution in brazil is not the hugh problem that these politicians make it out to be. it certainly is not unique to tourists and i personally feel that 95% of the people having sex with minors are in fact brazilians. all this parading around in copacabana with t-shirts and flyers for tourists is just to single out the foreigners and ignore the real problem which is with brazilians.

Secondly, you seem to not understand what reciprocal means. Countries have immigration regulations which mirror each other. The US finger prints Brasilians and vice versa, whats your problem with that?

As for biting themselves in the ass? Well, the US has bitten themselves harder, apparently Brits alone spend 1 billion USD per year alone in New York. The new visa hassles in October will reduce this number by a vast amount. Considering the weak border with Mexico and the Caribbean, do you really think these new measures will stop terrorists?

I am sorry to say it, but you should be angry with your government instead of the Brazilian. The Brazilians are completely right to single out Americans for pictures and fingerprints, because the USA is the only country in the world to do the same to Brazilian citizens. It doesn't matter the USA is doing that to the rest of the world too. The Brazilian goverment is standing up for their own people, as a good government should. They don't take my picture and fingerprint because my (Dutch) government does not do the same to Brazilians. It 's that easy.

The new policy in the US with fingerprinting and photographing does not include Brits or other European Union countries it only includes countries that needed a visa before to enter the country and yes that would include Brasil.

But anyway, does anybody have any recent reports on the ground in Rio? How about some stories about those gemias(twins) in Help, are they still there? Any more pictures of them?

Carnival:

Its now Carnival time in Rio, I have been going to Rio since 1980 and have been there over 50 times and Im sure many of you mongers have been there more. My question is that in all the years and all the times I have been, I have never been there during Carnival.

How is it during Carnival?

Would you recommend it?

I have been in Rio a week before Carnival and there were many garotas in town but is it better during Carnival?

Should I go before I am like the man in the pic?

Bob, Carnaval to me was a disappointment. Why?

- queues at the termas for a locker

- prices x2

- poor service in restaurants etc due to the rush.

- silly prices charged just for a table at a cafe on AvAtl

- hotels booked up and asking silly money x3

- girls all in a rush wanted to do another trick

- the so called carnaval balls at Scala are utter crap!! esp the much over hyped 'preto e vermellho'

Bob, from October 2004, some UK visitors will have to pay £67. Later in 2005 when biometric passports become available, this visa will no longer be necessary.

The united states start fingerprinting and photograhing most foreigners for a reason,the reason 09/11.Dutchman if you are in the US when that shit happened you would not have said what you are saying.The US needs to do more than fingerprinting and photograhping foreigners.Their backgrounds should be checked and when they land in the country they should be detained for an hr or two so they could be recheked and make sure they are all right and not a danger to the country and it,s citizens.lf they don,t wanna go through that , just don,t come over ,stay in your country.l have never in my life seen anything closed to what happened at the world trade center,NY.l hope nothing like that happen in any place on this earth.Brazil has the right do what they wanted as far as photograhing and fingerpriting united states citizen.

I only agree with your last statement. Brazil has the right to take pics and prints from American visitors.

I do not agree with your arrogant view that ONLY the USA has a good reason to ask that of people coming to the US because of 9/11 and that they should even detain visitors untill every background is checked. Terrorists can strike anywhere, not just in the US. And not always the danger comes from outside your country. Remember Oklahoma City?
I am not saying the USA cannot take pics and prints. What I am saying is that Americans should not be surprised when that happens to them as well.

Even the week before Carnival the girls especially the ones from out of town are looking to rush you and get back and do another trick, it was disappointing. I don't know, guys. I've always thought that this Rio board was too prone to paranoia. I've spent about 5 months in Brasil over 2 trips, screwed about 150 of her women, and traveled through about 50 of her cities (mostly all overland).

I've been to boites, clubs, bars and discos wherein I was the first gringo ever to step foot in them. Read the reports. I like to go deep.

Most of you guys like to go to Rio and stay in Rio. And I don't blame you for it. A lot of Brasil is gritty, blighted by industry and crime-ridden. Stay in Rio and live it up as best you can in her thermas, clubs, etc.

But the prospect of prostitution being somehow illegalized across the country is inconceivable. I even doubt of it ever happening in Rio. I don't know. I think of Help sitting there like a ripe piece of fruit waiting to be picked off the tree by some politician who claims to represent some voter-section who sees venues like Help as a sore on Brasilian culture, etc. I guess it's possible, given the right (or wrong) political agenda. Dunno.

In most of the cities outside of the gringo tourist loop, the sex scene is a little more informal -- and frequently MUCH better. Most women work out of pick-up bars, charge about 30 USD for an all-nighter, are ten times better looking (maybe only 5), etc. The beaches, incidentally, are usually better too.

Maybe the closure of the Rio sex scene is the best thing that could happen for the Brasilian sex market. Shut it down! Let all those numb-nut lurker mongers go back to Amsterdam, I say. Prices will lower, women will stay in their native markets, etc. Just a thought. I don't really care. Just trying to be controversial.

You see, it's so fucking easy to hook up in this country. You can walk up and kiss pretty girls in the street without an introduction. Fish in the barrel, man.

Point is, it's not a big deal either way. Prostitution in Rio might be in trouble for the next 10 years-whatever. But the culture that spawned it is here to stay -- and you can be confident of bangin' a new 9 every day with or without that "de programa" thing.

I love you guys! But you phuckers need to lighten up! Really, who fucking cares about your picture being taken at the airport?

Rio Bob, same here, I'm into the double figures like you but only saw Carnaval once. The cafe outside Help is a major joke, they ram in so many tables that you're almost falling off the pavement into the gutter. I also found there to be too many tourists clogging everything up, most of which will only ever spend a few days in Rio in their entire life.

Brasil is for sure a great place to hook up but often it looks like easier than it actually is

I'm a Rio virgin and have just decided, on a whim, to go to Rio. This is my fist trip since my wife passed away months ago. After all the pain I've felt, I feel it is time to start feeling good.

Anyway, not really speaking the language nor having visited before, this is really an adventure for me! It would be nice to hook up with someone who has been there before and have a bite to eat and maybe to hit some termas with.

I have arranged to stay in an apartment during my stay that overlooks the beach a couple of blocks from Help.

I am scheduled to arrive in Rio on March 16 at Noon. Maybe we can arrange to meet sometime thereafter.

I am going on my first trip to Rio in March. I have read all of the trip reports and was hoping that I could get a list of places (restaurants, termas, agencies, bars, etc.) in Copacabana along with approximate prices in R$. I will be staying in an apartment a couple of blocks from Help.

I welcome all advice and sisistance and , if any of you are in Rio between Mar. 16 - 26, maybe we can hook up.

First time I went to Rio was in 1997 for Carnival. Back then the real and dollar was almost equal. Short time girl from the beach was $R40.00. Things have improved, since then dollar wise. I have been back 7 time now and will be back next month. All, I can say is PLEASE don't pay Help girls R400.00 or R300.00. I have been to some of the girl apartments, where they sleep 5 or 6 in one bed. Believe me when they see you in Help, they really don't want to go back to apartment with 5 other girls. They would much rather sleep in a nice big bed with you and make $R150.00 or $R200.00. Tell any monger you know just walk away. Better to go home alone and hit the terma the next morning than to pay those prices. Plus there are literally women everywhere! No need to rush to make a decision. In the cafes, on the beach. On the streets, in the terma. Please remember YOU are the commodity! Just the mere fact that you can aford to get on a plane, rent and hotel room or apartment and have money to spend, make you KING. A king would never bow down to a wench!

RIO BOB-you asked about rio during carnival? this is my third time to come here during carnival . i usually come here end of february and stay for 6 weeks and i have to say that the worst week by far is the week of carnival. help disco is a joke . i went there last night . i arrived there early to avoid the que . the waiters inside were extremely rude and they lie to you saying that tables are reserved when in fact they are not.. the music is absolutely shit and around about 12.30 a live band came on with even worse crap.i never saw help dance floor so quiet during this period.from about 2 am the electronic music started and that was a little better but ony a little. the choice of girls is crap too . mostly stern faced pros. i remember after the carnival last year it was like a breath of fresh air in help , better music , better people- but my general opinion is that help is going down the gutter fast . i used to have some sympathy for these girls but i have seen so many things and hear so many stories this trip that i have completely changed my mind about them . most of these girls are just complete scum . i'll write a report soon about the stories i have heard and my experiences
with regard to the street scene during carnival - absolutely crap too - i am living in copa and there is nothing happening. there was supposed to be live music on every posto this year and the road was supposed to close but this was promptly cancelled when drivers complained
my advice - do not come to rio during carnival - the only people that rave about it being great are newcomers who know no better

Centaurus is the high priced "spread". I've had very good times (multiple spurts and all) with some lovely Garotas in Solarium and L'Huomo.

a good therma to go is Solarium, ´Luomo, Thermas 65. Centaurus is expensive and you pay upfront, regardless if you find something or not. Also Centaurus has 90% "Blonds". In the other termas you pay for the actual pop. If you are in for the darker girls, you might try MV30. This is a good place and around 110 Reis.

I wasn't impressed with Centaurus. I hate the pay up front policy and it is twice the price of the other Termas. While they do have somewhat nicer facilites and pretty girls, you can find at least a few stunners at any of the major Termas.

Cetaurus was good for a one time visit but I won't be repeating. My fav in Zona Sul is L'uomo and 65 was pretty good in the Centro. Solarium was a close second in Zona Sul but not walking distance from Copa (unlike L'uomo).

Hi Rio Bob, don't want to put a damper on your sauna tales, but most of the couples that turn up to Solarium are in their 40's+. You occasionally get girls going in there but they are usually lesbo's after the working girls.

Of all the mainstream saunas I'd rate this as second worst (the worst being Termas Rio Antigo) mainly due to several problems with the girls cleanliness. On one occasion the girls pussy stank the cabine out, the other time I got another girls poo all over my fingers.

All other things being equal, I'd do Rio for a single day. See a few of the big sights, hang at the beach, hit a terma in the afternoon, go to the cafe outside Help about 10pm to watch the girls and the action, wander into Help a bit before midnight, enjoy yourself for an hour or so, and pull some sweet thing for a couple of hours or all night. If she doesn't hit the spot, kick her out and go back and try again.

I prefer the beach at Ipanema to Copa as there are fewer hassles but there's more activity (good and bad) at Copa.

SP has a lot more mongering options but who needs lots of options for a single day? The clubs are slow and close early on the weekend in SP but there's still plenty of action for a day trip. SP is a big place and it can seem like you are spending the whole day driving around if you are not careful. Better to just settle in at a place like Bomboa.

Of course, all things are seldom equal. If I was already in SP, I wouldn't bother to travel to Rio and if I was already in Rio, I wouldn't bother to travel to SP.

The most important thing is to read the posting as they will reduce the risks of a bad experience a whole bunch.

there is one thing that i've learned from my present holiday in brazil and that is that these cariocas(especially the lower class ones) hate our guts when we date one of their beautiful girls and around copacabana they will assume that your girlfriend is a hooker if she is brazilian .

when we got back to our apt. a couple of hours later my girl started to feel really dizzy and she said that she never felt so bad after just a few beers . she said that her drink must have been drugged and sher began top feel really bad . she then started going into convulsions but they passed after 5 minutes . i got her loads of water to drink and soon after she vomited some red stuff up . she really believes that she was drugged because she never had this feeling before . there was only 3 people in close proximity to her all night and the most likely culprit was the over friendly brazilian guy .

I'm in Rio now. No obvious signs from Carnaval inflation. M/F ratio seems quite favorable and prices are reasonable. Help is a dump and I dont intend to go there this trip at all.

Luomo is rocking is definitely my favorite. I have met the sweetest girls there. Monte Carlo was so-so.

I haven't been to Brasil in about 15 years & was wondering if Mab's is still in business. It was a restaurant at the north end of Copacabana. Generally had a lot of garota's hanging out around the outside tables.

Eventually, I pulled out all my cash ($40 or $50 worth of Novo Crusados - the predecessor to the Reai) explained that I had a fairly substantial bar tab & since she said she wasn't allowed in my hotel (Acapulco - apparently a week before there had been some trouble with some gringo's & their garotas), that money would have to pay for a motel and cab fare to the motel & back to my hotel. She counted the money, got the bar tab, paid it, grabbed my hand & flagged down a cab. She paid for the motel (somewhere way south, right next to a huge flavella) - provided me with an absolutely fantastic night of sex (all bare back in those days) - started with a shower together, then BJ, followed by straight missionary, then the finale - the best anal sex I've ever indulged in (I'm not really into anal, but if the girl suggests, who am I to say no?). Hello,

Just some comments on my recent visit to RIO which included a few days before Carnival and a few during Carnival.

First, I generally dont like pros (you dont hear that much in this forum) and I have a very strong bias to finding girls that you can make a connection with, even if you are paying her.

Language- I dont speak portugese and although this wont stop anyone from finding sex, I think it dramatically reduces your chance of making a real connection and having a true GFE. Time to pull out those tapes.

Luomo- Went to Luomo once and it is definetly a class act with great girls and reasonable prices.

HELP- I spent many nights at HELP. I found most girls more PRO than GFE types. Still I would say they are more GFE than PROs in other countries, but usually not a real GFE. I found the best looking ones were priced high (R300+) and if you take them before 2:30am, they will generally find a way to leave your hotel in time to go find another customer. my biggest regret is not paying up for the best quality as I think i missed some great opportunities with some sweet beautiful girls who commanded a premium. The extra R100 or so that seperated me and the best girls in negotiations meant nothing to me, but I felt I had to hold my ground or else i would just be another gringo sucker. During carnival, you get a big influx of girls from other cities and the regulars often just hang outside. I met one top quality GFE type, who started talking about a "relationship" and travelling together and not having to pay for sex anymore etc etc etc but once Carnival hit, she was making big money and I really didnt want to get into a bidding war for someone who had already promised me the world and quickly went back to a business first attitude. Now that I am home, she is emailing me again how much she likes me ....bla bla bla....dont believe it...EVER.

The Balcony- This Restaurant/bar was next to my hotel. Lots of girls, but at a lower quality and price to HELP. It is less noisy and Easier to talk. Although the girls asked for more, I never paid more than R150.

To Digress for a moment, I like anal (which I rarely get the opportunity) and I had read that Brasil was "Anal central". Well, despite repeated asking, I only had 1 girl who would try it and although i will spare the bloody details, lets just say it ended quickly and wasnt enjoyable for either of us.

All in all, I would rate the trip a 5 or 6 based on my likes. But armed with my current knowledge and hopefully some better portugese, I know RIO has the potential for much much more for the next trip.

The last day was the worst day I meet her 2am in the balcony we left at 3pm and went to the apartment and for the first time we had actual conversation I was starting to understand and was able to communicate back to her. She brought me gifts, sung to me, kiss me and even at times offered to pay for her meals. She cried that night and still asked me not to go. Later she told me she loved me It kinda felt like some sort of game she was playing but she didn't seem like the others I was with. She never asked for money just my company. 1 hour before she left my apartment she took pictures with all my friends and let me take a few pictures of her I went into the bathroom to think and she came in and cried on my chest and told me again she love me. Our four days in Rio

Day one:

Arrived at the apartment late in the afternoon on Friday.

My garota friend and her friend managed to literally destroy MY rented apartment in the two weeks before our arrival. After some wall to wall counseling the place was cleaned up and all was well.

I was getting pretty tired when my buddy Idolized a chick and me being the team member that I am, I took the anchor.

After a quickie with her in the room $200rs she left and it was a good thing. One hour later my girl arrived and I averted disaster for the night.

Day Two:

Woke up late and decided to wait for tours for tomorrow.

Walked up and down the beach checking out the girls during the day.

Decided to go to Scala for a Carnaval party. At midnight it was still bull.

We went then to Help and boy was it ever crowded.

After a couple hours of walking around with a woodie, I selected a chick from Northern Brazil and my buddy was doing well also.

Day four final day:

Actually still day three but close enough. I get a call at 4:30 AM from a chick I'm not sure is mine. Whoever slipped her the E if I find you consider your ass kicked. She did not know where she was or I would have gotten on the white horse and rescued her.

After several worried hours she finally came home at 3:30 in the afternoon. A totally wasted day for me.

This night she comes home drunk on bubbly throwing up everywhere. Nice.

Chicks, can't live with them so just fuck them.

I go to the bank to get me and my buddy some money but being a holiday the bank machines that do still have a little money left are only allowing small withdrawls.

Back at the apartment, (while I am out scrounging money) my buddy does a little early packing and guess what he finds.

The wallet was right where he had hidden it in his drunken stupor.

Good thing I didn't have a gun!

Again, Mr. Murphy's ugly head arrives and my buddy gets bitten by something and his arm is the size of his leg. Shit...

The Acapulco was about two blocks north of Mabs and one block off the beach (I think the street was Princessa Isabella). Don't know if you remember Franks Bar, but it was on the same street as the Acapulco, but on the opposite side of the street and a block or two farther away from the beach. It was usually girl friendly, but just before that last time I was there, a couple of gringos (their garotas helped out as well) apparently screwed that up.

I definitely liked Mabs better before they put in Air Conditioning and Windows. Before the remodelling job, you could sit inside and interact with the garotas outside...once the windows were installed, you had to go outside to do talk to the garotas...a minor annoyance.

Anyway, as I stated before, I spent most of my time in the Northeast, primarily in Fortaleza. As I understand it, I probably wouldn't recognize Fortaleza at all...seems the only bar that's still in operation is Africa's...and I was never a huge fan (I think I'm a little claustrophobic & Africa's had a low ceiling & was always too crowded - I always avoided Help, which I'm surprised is still around, due to the crowds...sit at a cafe & pick up a girl outside where there's a little elbow room).

I visited Buzios on my last trip in late jan. It's a 4hr bus ride from RIo. The bus is a large tour bus. It cost R22 each way. It's possible to find a taxi in Rio to take you there. I found one after i visited Buzios. He wanted R200 round trip.
We made no arrangments for accomodations when we left. Upon exitting the bus at 11:30p, we met a hawker for a pousada. It cost R100/day. A little after midnight, we hit Rua das Pedras, the main pedestrian street where all the nite life is located. It was very crowded. You would have thought it was the middle of the day, instead of the middle of the nite with all the people walking around. This area has lots of boites, restaurants, and niteclubs. I saw a lot of hotties also. But they seemed to be paired up. Also a very young crowd, mostly in their twenties.

There's lots to do in Buzios. It's made up of 23-25 beaches. Dune buggies, motorcylces and autos are available for rental. If you do rent a car, make note of any damage with the rental company, or they may say that its new damage, and hold you liable. Car rental is R100/day plus R300 deposit for insurance.

Good to hear from you. I found all your post to very detailed and right on the money. I have been to all those places except 4x4 and 75. Are those really worth going to? Is it worth the money? I mean is the quality a lot better there versus lets say, Hollywood or Stellas? I'm going to try those places out. I pass 75 almost everyday when going home.

Listen dude, remeber that one spot, Buenos Aires, 113? That place is good and a lot of good talent passes by, especially in the first club you find after climbing that tight fucking stair case. But, and I don't know if you know, but there is another spot on Buenos Aires, 85. There are two levels. I think they have about 15 to 20 girls in there everyday. You can come across some really good talent in there.

I've done the whole Help and Meia Pataca thing. However, I've never been to the Termas that are in Copacabana, but I have lived here long enough to know the best girls I've had in these spots in Centro are just as fine as the prettiest "normal" girls I have seen here. Is the quality better in Termas better all the way around versus the spots downtown you have visited? I've come across some really fine girls, or "jewels" in what I call "dime spots." Now that I live here I adopted the belief that to pay more than 30 reais for a piece of ass in Rio is silly. Unless she is way fine, dude. You just have to do some walking around and you will fine what you want. Plus, do you want a prettiest girl, or the best pussy? I've had enough to know the best pussy did not come from the prettiest girl I had. Sometimes, as you said, "they don't give a good performance." (smile)

Dude I started counting all the girls I have done since I have been here, that I could remeber that is, and I stopped at 200. That was only possible because of the those "dime spots." When you live here and go to all these places, you see women come and go. You see them move to place to place and shit like that. You have to catch the one you want when you have the chance because she might be gone soon. So, you have to go back the next day and get her.

About those other places, I have to get the addresses. I have memeorized where a lot of them are and I don't need the address anymore, so I will have to go and do some foot work and write them down. I go to a lot of them and if I don't like the vibe, I scratch it out of my rotation. So here are some for when you come back. They may be closed when you arrive. Hopefully we can keep in contact and that won't be a problem.

Next to Praca Maua

2) Ave 13 de Maio 47, Apts 708 AND 512

3) Santa Clara, apt 135
Walk up the stairs. I've never been but I just heard about it. I'm going to check it out

And as you can imagine, this place is loaded with so many more places like that it will make you head spin. I've just scratched the surface. A lot of them are complete dives. But I want to go check out 75. Is the quality good? You said there were about 15 to 20 babes inside. I gues 15 reais is not bad to check it out. Yeah, right, check it out. However, it does seem that there are a load of rude guys out there with no manners. Tuesday morning, agents of the Federal Police went on strike for better salaries. The decision delayed six of the eleven international flights that flew out of the country yesterday, from Cumbica International airport, in Guarulhos, São Paulo, for up to four hours . Only five flights were on time. The same happened in Rio de Janeiro, where the strike provoked long lines at the international airport Antônio Carlos Jobim.

The agents on strike checked all documents of all people either arriving or leaving the country, instead of performing random checking, as is usually done. Francisco Sabino, from the Federal Police Union, in São Paulo, said that the standard procedure calls for verification of all documents of all passengers, but that this is not done due to lack of personnel.

Those interested in obtaining passports also had to endure long lines throughout the country. The agents, however, refused to attend the public, dealing only with the most urgent cases. In Foz de Iguaçu, another standard operation was carried out at the bridge Amizade, at the border between Brazil and Paraguay, creating a huge traffic jam.

Went to Centarus yesterday, and cannot decide if I like it or not.:

Yes the Haagan Dazz in front of the Miramar Palace Hotel on Ave Atlantica but the slum is not on Ave. Atlantice it is several blocks from Ave Atlantica and even though too close for comfort for me too lets just hope this mess doesn't spill out to the main tourist area near Help. I've been here a little over 24 hours now. There are no signs of any trouble or problems at or around ground zero, or anywhere that I can tell, for that matter. It's all good, and the candy around Help looks better than ever, if you can imagine that.

Long time reader, first time poster. Thanks to all of you for your advice which I have "stolen shamelessly" over the past year.

I spent the month of February in Rio (and vicinity). When I first arrived, I had some apartment problems which caused a housing shuflle. Resultingly, I spent the first 2 days garota-less. My apartment problem:

My buddy booked a two-bedroom apartment with a local that he met. The problem was that he didn't actually SEE the apartment, nor did he get digital photos via e-mail. When we arrived, we were completely dismayed at the small size, age and overall poor condition of the apartment. When we complained, the local broker agreed to transfer us to a nicer apartment, and, in fact, he did. The problem was that the original apartment owner had received a deposit and was hell-bent against returning any money.

The second apartment owner was very cool on Day 1, but by Day 2, the situation became untenable. Apparently, the broker somehow neglected to actually PAY her, and she was in our apartment IN TEARS. Mind you, we had paid the broker.

So, we're now in Rio for 36 hours and haven't unpacked our bags. We went scouting for apartments, and found a nice place on Atlantica, near the Copacabana Palace. I took a significant financial hit, but I just wanted to get my vacation started. In the end, I was disappointed at myself for having a 'newbie' problem.

The lessons:

1) Do not send money to someone you do not know well, or who doesn't have a reputable, established business. If things go poorly, you have little legal recourse. You can't go to a Brazilian court in the 2 or 3 weeks you are down there.

2) Minimize the deposit you send in advance. Many people will ask for a 50% deposit. Don't do it. They ask for this because they are generally cash-poor, and even if return of your money was warranted, they don't have it to give to you.

3) Get contracts, receipts, photos, and as many documents as possible. You will get a sense of who is on the up-n-up based on the way they do business.

Regarding Blame-it-on Rio: I used them for 3 years, and I found Bobby to be honest, and his business practices were fair. My first year, I spoke no portuguese, and I appreciated doing business with an American. The reason I have stopped using Bobby is because his prices are on the high end. The longer I stay, the less inclined (or able) I am to pay a premium. I DO still use Blame-it-on-Rio for cell phone rentals, side trips to Bahia/Buzios, etc.

You won't have those kind of problems with Bobby.

Ropes, any dealings you have with BlameitonRio is bound to cause problems. They are extremely flaky and unreliable.

Chingon, no delays or anything unusual at the airport. The line to get admitted was about twenty minutes, and an additional ten minutes for the American fingerprint/photo line.

Fuck Help. Sorry, but that was my impression last trip and it still is. Too much hassle, risk and uncertainty. The news media likes to talk about a side of the hobby that the majority of us aren't a part of yet they don't talk about the other aspects. I'm not quite sure how much WSG Charities has raised over the past year but I'm proud to say that many guys have contributed. Some have made very generous donations of $1,000 or more. I think that's wonderful! There are so many guys that receive benefit from WSG. Directly and indirectly. I posted the following below and I would ask you to read it and make a contribution.

Maybe Jackson will decide to branch out and help feed the poor of other cities. There is so much good we as a collective group can do. There is nothing better than helping someone less fortunate than yourself. Please give generously.

I just got back from Termas 65 downtown. While I liked it better than 4X4 overall, the girls were less than impressive by Rio standards. It is also a bit more expensive, by about R$60, than the other termas I've been to. A few stunners, though, made the visit worthwhile. Here you can pay the entire bill with a credit card, but with a 10% surcharge (which came out to R$12 for me). The staff goes out of their way to be helpful.

Termas 65 has a nice layout with a good spa area and several floors, with a mini-restaurant on the top. It was there that I met Denise and her friend Simone, who tried to talk me into a trio. Not feeling too adventurous I went with Denise. She's built but not overweight, small breasts, dark skin and hair. Her service, particularly oral, was incredible (even by Rio standards).

The trick with the downtown termas (4X4, 65, Aeroporto) is to get there before the after-work rush at five and get out before they get too crowded, which happens around six. I have not yet found one that compares to Solarium, Montecarlo or my favorite, Luomo.

Watch the taxi drivers here: I noticed they tend to tip themselves with your money by giving back short change.

My favorite Termas currently are 65, Luomo and Solarium. Both 65 and Solarium have the best looking chicks but Luomo has a really friendly laid back atmosphere that I like.

Report – Regular non-pro places in Rio

After gathering informations from this forum about non-pro places, I decided to visit and report/update about some of them.

Disco / Boate
- Baronetti (Ipanema, located on Praca N.S. da Paz). I was there on Friday night 22h30 pm almost first customer and it was full by midnight with a huge waiting queue then. This is a very clean and modern disco of average size with a VIP room upstairs. Arriving in in the beginning of the night gave me the occasion to watch the people coming in. Baronetti is the place where I saw the most beautiful women in Rio. It was like a fashion show. Almost all of them are wearing nice skirts, high-heel shoes and have bikini sun-tan marks... However, this is more the white “high society” of Rio with an entry price of 70 reals prepaid (45 during the week it seems). I was confused first because of the charging system: I thought I would have to pay 70 reals + drinks, which frightned me and spoiled my evening. This is actually 70 reals prepaid, so you can drink up to 70 reals and must pay more only if you consume for more than 70. The casheer did not speak any english so I had to leave and ask for the invoice to eventually understand the system.

- Symbol (Centro, avenida Almirante Barroso). Entry 20 reals as far as I can remember gives you access to a free buffet but drinks are extra. This is a modern place. I was there on Wednesday night 7pm for the after-work evening. This is a good place if you want to see the normal working “mid-class” people of Rio. Like anywhere else in the world, there are a lot of singles among them: “Solteiro no Rio de Janeiro” like a popular song said. The place seems to be very popular and was packed by 9pm.

Bars/Restaurants:

- Cobal (do Humaita). Located in Botafogo. This is the name of a complex which is an indoor market on one side and bars/restaurants on the other side (Rota 66 mexican restaurant for instance). There is a big outdoor terrace with a nice view on the nearby “Christo redentor” statue. A very popular place. Normal people there, rather young 18-35 and some couples with kids as well. What you have to do is come with some friends and get a table right in the middle of the terrace to have the best approaching possibilities if there are groups of girls in the tables nearby. If you are alone, this is not really the best place to go.

- Cozumel (Jardim Botanico, av lineu de Paula Machado 696, 1 block from the laguna). I had bad luck and was there on tuesday, which seems the only day without the flat-fee system for drinks and food. I was there with my Garota and the Fajitas from the menu were OK. Taxi driver said that the monday before, lot of people and the party was good.

- Arco do Teles (Centro, Travessa do Comercio 2-6). This is actually a small and old lane with an arch at the entry located on the famous Praca XV. This is classified as an exclusive after-work place. I was there on Saturday night and it was completely dead/closed. Apparently the bars there are only open on Friday from 7pm.

- Melt (Leblon, Rua Rita Ludolf 47A). This is a restaurant with a bar. Entry 25 reals prepaid on monday as far as I can remember. Not many people and nothing special to report. This place should be better during the week-end though.

- Bardot (Leblon, Rua Dias Ferreira 246). This is small bar with elaborated design/decorations. I was there on Wednesday night (Entry 10 Reals refundable after 1 drink) and the place was quite empty, besides a group of young rich girls having fun taking pictures of themselves with their Digital camera. I got quickly bored and left around midnight. No idea if more people would have come in later but I doubt it on a weekday.

Generally, making Contacts in those places is not easier as anywhere else in the world and it’s a lot more easy if you are with friends. The “hot brasilian babes” that I imagined before my trip are actually those you can find in Help!

However, you can't go wrong with Lóumo, Monte Carlo or Solarium ( where I will be in about 45 minutes).

I met a local business guy waiting for the "cabine"at Terma 65 ( which IMHO is a slight click below the aforementioned, and a bit out of the way). He swears by Centarus. The rate is more like 300Raiis, vs. the 200-250 at the other places. But he says EVERY gal is a 10, and here that is saying a lot.

I won't have time for Centarus this trip, but keep in mind the difference of 50-100 R is a difference of 30-40 bucks!

Cutting edge is dead on with these comments. If it was the "next day" as it's described, you probably brought this along with you. If it was virulent enough to produce a discharge AFTER urination, you'd have had some serious burning during urination. I wouldn't have been surprised if you had complained of fever, tenderness or soreness with this description.

So, I'd agree with CE. Plus, the swab would have been pretty important to clarify which bug you were carrying so the antibiotic would be more likely to bump it off.

Get checked, again by a "real" doctor and do your pretty friend a favor and get her checked too. Many of us may end up REALLY appreciating that you did.

Just returned from another successful adventure in Rio. Decided to try some different settings besides Help and the termas.

After reading about the casa I decided this would be a great early afternoon activity. However, I did not want to travel to far from my familiar settings. Found a casa in Copacabana at R. Aires Saldanha 15 apt 1104. Very easy to find behind the park off of Siqueria Campos. Clean and comfortable building with several doctor offices located within. I visited 1 beedroom apartment twice. As I wrote in the Argentina section I’ve finally start my trip to South America with my short three nights stay in Rio.

I’ve arrived Friday morning at 8.00AM and transfer to town went quite smooth even with morning traffic jam.

First bad surprise, my agents book me on Savoy Othon in Avenida Nostra Signora de Copacabana, just two blocks from the beach.

As soon I’ve arrive, I just realized how miserable were the room there. Very small, (when I say small it means so small that you hardly passing between the bed and the walls even if I was book in a superior) no AC controls, no room service, and so, the worst of the budget hotel I never seen.

Just a quick return to the reception and check how much was the differences to move to Othon Palace in Avenida Atlantica (about 65US$ x night) and move there. Not to be fancy but now my room is just better with enough space to walk around and the basic amenities.

I got a room in an Executive Floor on the 25th floor with a gorgeous view of Copacabana Beach.

Quick shower and nap and finally ready to hit the town, I discover that the weather was getting cloudy so no way to go to the beach, so I decide to call an escort site to have a girl in my room for the afternoon.

Inflation has hit L'uomo. Today I flew into Rio and, as usual, made L'uomo my first stop. I'm there often enough that the receptionist remembers my face but not often enough for her to remember my name even though I always kid her about it.

As a followup to my previous post, I went to Monte Carlo yesterday and Solarium today and their prices seemed to be at the same levels as before. I'll go to Centaurus tonight and let you all know if they have also increased prices.

First time at HELP

I just came back from my first Rio trip and I can’t help to write my own report about Help, even if I know a lot has already been said. Could be usefull for guys coming to Rio for the first time.

I avoided HELP at the beginning of my stay as a lot of members were saying it was too professional and no longer what it used to be. After a few days, I decided to give it a try to make my own opinion.
It’s actually the biggest disco and dance floor I have been in Rio. It’s true that there are smells coming from the floor or from behind the bar but it’s not noticeable when the place is full. The atmosphere on the dancefloor is more fun than at the discos back home. The guys are relaxed due to the presence of so many sexy and available girls. Weather in June is normally OK, it won't be baking, but you've a fair chance of some sun.

Rio doesn't have 4 seasons as such - it tends to be cooler around winter time, but you can still get hot days.

The 'worst' time is July / August / Sep. It can occasionally get down to around 15 degrees (mid 50s). In 6 years I've never known it to be less than that though.

But always remember - this is a stunningly fertile country, if you stand still for too long something will grow on you! That doesn't happen without plenty of rain - there is no 'dry' season here in Rio, it can rain any time, all year round, the same as you get hot sunny days all year round.

Christmas last year was very wet, as was carnaval - two traditional 'summer' events here.

Like others, I have used gringomanagment (David) several times (5). He's been very accomodating, even for one particularly short trip. He's allowed me to keep the room through late departures. The rooms are always clean and adequately appointed (I can never get used to those electric showerheads, though) and the beds never feel like they've been hammered with a wrecking ball. In fact, they've been pretty darn firm.

The first time I went there, Bruno was not his contact person. I meant with an American expat named "Asagai." Apparently from New York (or thereabouts), Asagai was not particularly honest in his dealings with hobbiests, and is no longer working with David. Don't know if Asagai is still around Copa, but he always felt a bit shady to me and I didn't trust him.

Help has taken over the Piano Bar Restaurant that is above Terraca Atlantica, and next door to Help. Help now has two dance floors: the hip hop, samba disco, techno on the old floor, and disco & 80's, on the new floor. access to the balcony is through the new floor. R28 entrance.

i visited Cabo Frio on this trip. Cabo Frio is a small town that is more geared towards the locals, hence it's considerably less expensive then Buzios. the beaches are more family orriented, and just as nice as Buzios. food, and drink are readily available on the beach. as are lounge chairs and umbrellas. all reasonably priced. also not too many venders hawking on the beach. from my perspective, cabo Frio has a small nite life. Two clubs: eleven and chopp show, which i was unable to visit. unless you speak portuguese, i'd recommend bringing company with you.

costs:
R16 by bus from Rio, R5 more if you want a bus with A/C. the bus trip takes 2.5-3hrs from Rio. i found a van & driver in Rio, who charged R200 to take four of us there. Finding a pusada was difficult upon arrival. we asked many locals, but none could direct us to any. i finally found a dumpy pousada for R25/per person.
Next day i located a much better pousada that charged R95/nite for the four of us.

That comes out to about $8.50 a drink yes by Rio standards very expensive but if you just sit there and not leave with the girl not a bad price to enjoy the show for an hour. The other 50 reais you are talking about is the fee for the girl, yes Barbarella's is in business to make money so that is an extra $17 that you pay them so they can cover their overhead and make a profit, sounds fair to me. The 300 reais goes to the girl, that is her price that is what she is making. Help is 28 reais to get in (covercharge) and if you buy 2 drinks that is 14 reais more for a total of 42 reais only 8 reais less and you get no go go dancers and show. In Help if you leave with a nice quality girl similar to Barbarellas than Barbarellas cost you 58 reais more than Help for the same amount of product. That comes out to $20 dollars more, doesn't sound like much of a big rip off to me especially when most of these girls are very nice compared to Help. Plus I think a girl from Barbarellas is less likely to cause you problems since she is less of a freelancer.

A mid level bank manager may have a career for maybe 40 years, a good pro may be able to push it for 12 - 14 years but during the later years she will get a declining salary as the offers and amount will be much less. I am thinking of going back to Rio in August. Personally, I'm fond of the offseason, fewer crowds of other tourists and mongers and lower prices suit me fine. Perhaps Help isn't packed, but always it has plenty of women, and while 90% might be below my standards (at least before a couple of beers), it seems like there's always at least one good-looking garota for me to take home. To add to RXHammer's comments I think he is right. There are several ways to approach Help in terms of picking up garotas. But as he said it is firstly a buyers market in there and so easy to get what you want or close to it. One should go in relax, let the caiphirinha take over and never, never pay more than 200 real. You can always tell the ones you are going to have a good time with. They usually spend time with you and chat, dance etc.

A story that you need to know is that my landlord took me to a samba school back in September and afterwards we went to the Balcony Bar at around 0230. It wasn't that good in there so I suggested we go to Help. He said OK, but advised that if we went in it would cost 25real for entrance, I'd probably spend another 100reals on drinks and then up to 200 reals for the girl. Making a grand total of 325 reals.

Because we were going there later than usual we got to Help and he preceeded to talk to a couple of girls (blonde 7 & dark haired girl 7) waiting outside the club in Portuguese. After a short conversaton he turned to me and asked me which one I wanted and that it would cost me 40 reals. I could not believe it. He then said it was so cheap because he was a local. A previous poster (please excuse my memory) rightly stated that just because the girls are in Help they expect to get paid 300reals. No way would I pay that. Furthermore my landlord advised me to pay the 40real and not a penny more because it would make it dearer for everyone else in the long run.

So please fellow mongerers please bargain as hard as possible, it doesn't matter whether you are in Help or anywhere else. Pay low and keep the prices down.

I plan to go to Rio and several other cities this Christmas and I can't wait. Sure it will be packed with a lot more tourists but I expect there to be a lot more amateurs at that time. Can anyone confirm this to me and what else to expect over christmas and new year in terms of girls and stuff? I can't wait!

Remember, during the holidays the termas will close for a few days and many of the regular girls will be leaving/spending time with family and will be unavailable. Prices for apartments/hotels are higher combined with increased number of tourist. That said, there is still plenty of action available. Stick to low price offer for services cause the garotas will try and pump up the price on you for sure.
I was in Rio over Christmas/New years 2002. The only real pain in the ass was the termas closing cause I like that type of action.

I just returned from my third trip to Rio and NEVER paid more than

Granted, I did run into some other guys down there who were way over-paying.

If you stick to your guns during the initial negotiations, and in doing so let them know that YOU know what the scene is and YOU know the general price.
The trick is to treat the girls well and have fun with them, and they were always willing to go for almost whatever I offered, and then repeat at later times for even less. (If money was even mentioned at all).

I am not fluent in Portuguese by any means, but I can get by and carry on a basic conversation, entertain the girls, make them laugh a bit, and it goes a long way towards how they treat you.

"it hurts everyone's pocket, but we're talking about people's lives," ms. kelly said of the shutdown, which was initiated not by public health authorities but by the industry itself.

leaders of the industry said the moratorium indicated the seriousness with which they handled health issues.

about 1,200 performers in the adult film industry are tested once a month for h.i.v., chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis. most tests are done at the adult industry medical health care foundation's offices in the san fernando valley, where the adult-movie industry is centered, and performers must present evidence of test results to producers before filming.

"they realize this is an occupational hazard," said sharon mitchell, a former adult-film actress who earned a master's degree in public health and a ph.d. in human sexuality before co-founding the medical foundation here. although some production companies require actors to use condoms, she said, most do not.

"films are picked up for distribution faster if the actors are not wearing condoms, and the talent earns more money for not wearing condoms," ms. mitchell said.

the speed with which the infections were found illustrates "the system did exactly what it's supposed to do," she said.

although the san fernando valley pornography industry is believed to generate up to $9 billion a year, most of its productions are turned out by just a few dozen companies and producers. in that relatively insular environment, there are not many degrees of separation between most actors.

jessica drake, an actress in her mid-20's who is under contract to wicked pictures to star in at least seven films a year, said that in her four years in the business she had never worked with a male partner who was not wearing a condom. she said she had been tested for sexually transmitted diseases every month.

"we have a horrible situation on our hands right now," ms. drake, a native of san antonio, said on friday. "because of the testing we have right now, i feel it's as close to being contained as possible, but on the off-chance that it isn't, we don't want to put anyone else at risk."

ms. drake, who began her career as a stripper while attending college, said the pornography business suffered from misconceptions. "contrary to what people outside the industry might think," she said, "we really do watch out for one another."

a friend of mr. james who went to his home on thursday found the actor's wallet, cellphone and car but no sign of him, said jim south, an agent who has guided the careers of actors and models in the business for 31 years. "no one's seen him since monday," mr. south said. "we can't find him. we are all very, very concerned about this."

alicia herring, a staff member at the medical foundation, said mr. james's infection went undetected when he was tested on march 17, the day he returned from brazil. "he tested too soon," she said. "when he was tested again on april 12, the result was positive for h.i.v."

skeeter kerkove, a director and producer of pornographic films who has worked with mr. james several times, said the actor's infection was "just catastrophic" and called him "a total gentleman."

mr. kerkove, who estimated that he had made 120 films in the last two years, said on friday that he had canceled five movies he had planned to shoot in the next eight days, and would not plan any others "until i get the go-ahead" from the medical foundation.

of the 40,000 sex scenes mr. kerkove said he had filmed in the last five years, none has resulted in an h.i.v. infection, he said. his wife, bridgette kerkove, who has performed in more than 1,000 adult films, he said, is so careful that she has never been infected with a sexually transmitted disease.

mr. kerkove said he had been offered a chance to make an adult film in brazil earlier this year but turned it down after the brazilian agent could not guarantee that medical tests on actors would be genuine.

tim connelly, publisher of the pornographic industry trade publication adult video news, said 100 to 200 film and video producers would meet next week to discuss the ramifications of the actors' quarantine.

"americans think aids is a fad, like disco, and that it's over," said mr. connelly, who began his career in new york 27 years ago doing live sex shows in times square. "it's not a fad. it's here, and we're aware of it in the adult entertainment industry. if you're careful every day, it's not life and death any more than if you're careful with a handgun."

Minimus, about your question about Terma girls getting tested, you are right. They are tested every month. However, there are many types of tests.

Now, please let me preface the following by saying that I am NOT a doctor, but I am a serious monger. There is a catch to the test. The HIV test used by the porn industry is called PCR-DNA and is supposed to catch the virus within 1 month of exposure. The most common HIV test out there is called ELISA. The ELISA test is supposed to only be able to catch the virus within 3 to 6 months of infection.

If you go to your neighborhood AIDS clinic, chances are you will get the ELISA test because it is cheaper to perform. I live in a major metropolitan area of the US (4 million people +) and I could not find a single clinic performing the superior PCR-DNA test. Since I have barebacked (very, very rarely) a handful of working girls, I like to test somewhat often. The only way I can get the PCR-DNA test is to use the same organization used by the porn industry (AIM). The great thing is that they have agreements with collection clinics all over the country. A clinic will draw your blood and FedEx it to AIM in LA and then you get the results in a few days.

I've used that method for the last couple years. So, AIM has me in their database as a porn performer ;)

My guess is that the Termas used the more common and cheaper ELISA test, which means a Terma girl could be infected for 6 months before she showed as positive. That might explain the theory posted by another monger that the HIV-positive porn actor might have been infected by a Terma girl even if she was tested regularly, but with an inferior test. It's a possible explanation, but there is probably no way to know for sure.

Having just recently returned from Rio, I would highly quarrel with your representation of all the brothas there as upper class.

That said, I can't say the the brothas acted any more idiotically or arrogantly than most idiot Americans. Actually, I'd have to say the brothas were LESS so (the ugly arrogant American idiot).

I also had a negative experience at Barbarella with a table of brothas up front. They were actually quite cool, but insisted on standing up when the DJ was playing hip hop and the girls on stage dancing. By the virtue of standing up, they blocked the views of everyone sitting behind their table. A sin yes, but not a huge one.

The biggest problem is probably how deeply they get into their rap star video fantasies. There are bottles of Cristal, (cuz it's gotta be Cristal, right?) on all their tables, and they definitely pay TOP DOLLAR. If some of them actually did the money throwing deal at Barbarella, that would be real lame - a super ugly extension of the I am a PIMP - rap star act.

After blowing huge amounts of money in Rio, they're tapped out so they have to save up for the next 6 months or so, and not do much at home until their next trip.

But I know plenty of white guys that do the same thing.

They are very high risk for herpes, genital warts, molluscum, I have caught molluscum on various occasions from Brazilian prostitutes in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, but had them burned off at the local clinic. They have not come back.

I think low risk for HIV, as long as you wear a condom and do not do anything crazy.

I always wear condom, but that did not stop my testicle area from getting a bunch of molluscum blisters a couple times over the past few years. I was scared it was herpes but it turned out not to be thank god.

Europeans often travel to other countries, most are bilingual if not trilingual and have a much better cultural awareness quotient than most American do. For an average American, going abroad is going to the Epcot Center to the World Pavilion for their one week or two week yearly vacation.

That said, things have been changing (for the better) for many Americans. And please, I'm not socialist Euro type. I'm as American as anyone else, I just don't allow my flag to cover what my eyes tell me, ok?

Hi Guys,

Went to Monte Carlo for the first time and had a blast. Hooked up with a blonde beauty named Alene on her 22nd birthday. You will see most of the white guys standing around not dancing and most of the black guys are. The black guys sometimes are smoking cigars with the women. Last night, there were a couple of guys with knit caps and t-shirts sending friends to bring women back to talk with them. Tony Soprano types do the same thing. Everyone is having a good time in their own harmless way and spending their own hard-earned cash.

Go to Help and the termas and have a good time and do not worry about what everyone else is doing. All you have to do is decide who will be the lucky girl! Diversity is a good thing.

I happen to think that a lot of older white guys who get drunk and get a thrill of feeling up these girls at the bars are just very sad, I often want to say to them: “rent a room pal!” but I know this is not all white guys.
