i just spent my labor day weekend in rio and i thank most of the forum comments in guiding my mongering adventures. all in all, i find luomo tops as this place has the best overall value. i cannot complain about the service and the girls there really love what they do. the luomo lady in the attached picture actually took out my dick from her pussy and inserted it in her ass as she was about to have one of the wildest orgasms i had ever seen. one thing great about this scenario was the fact we never negotiated for any ass action to begin with. guys, try spontaneity more often; it really brings the level of sexual experience to mind-boggling heights especially for rio girls.
the best facility is solarium although i heard from the receptionist, to the chagrin of everyone who heard, that they wouldn’t be hosting the couples nights anymore. solarium girls were fun too but the location seems to be a disadvantage.
i had a great three-some experience in centaurus, wherein one of the girls insisted on her ass too (another spontaneity thing). alas, centaurus is definitely over-rated. the facility and front desk customer service certainly do not justify the higher fee. they have some pretty girls but they have their fair share of ugly ones too lust like any of the rio termas.
however, i had a damper with luomo although i got quite a chuckle from it. while the lady was moaning and groaning, she suddenly shrieked at the top of her voice. before i could congratulate myself she was pointing to a flying cockroach in our small room. the scene rapidly deteriorated to something unmanageable and i just laughed at how things could dramatically change. the damned pest wanted to join in but we were not in a mood for a three-some certainly not with a bug. she ran out of the room and i managed to kill the pest but only after ruining the atmosphere. gentlemen, this is not the spontaneity i am talking about. anyway, they gave us a new and bigger room and we tried to get back were we left of although i would catch her eyes peeking once in a while for anymore uninvited guest.
rio is a great experience and what i learned there is that cost is not necessarily commensurate with experience. marriott hotel just like centaurus is a good example and i would lump the help thing over-rated as well. i moved from the marriott to the excelsior and got a much better accommodation for half the price. with the rio terma scene, the help thing is a waste of time and money really. first, the good hotels will not allow girls and the help girls there are those who are rejected from the termas for one reason or another.

JustGotBack, 4x4 is 44 rua Buenos Aires (downtown Rio.) It's 2 blocks south of the Uruguaiana Metro station.
L'uomo is 138 Rua Siquiera Campos, just north of Rua Tonelero. I'ts about 7 minutes north of the beach on Siquiera Campos. It's in a corner on the 2nd floor of a huge 2 floor semi-open-air mall. If you see the church, walk towards and past the escalator from the church, turn left then a quick right again and its a few doors down.
wow!!! is really all i can say about my 1st week in rio. the place is amazing needless to say. as an ass man, i just have never seen so many women with ass of life!!! i'm going through withdrawal being back in the states now!! just takes a while to re-adjust again!! truly a monger paradise!!
i really want to thank everyone (young & restless, lorenzo, ezinho, el mujerista, darkknight etc..) for getting me up to speed prior to hitting the town.

but for those folks who have been sitting on the fence unsure if you should make the trip, trust me, you will not be disappointed.
aside from the help, beach action and termas, you can get a little play as well from the non-pros as well. i met some incredible talent at one of the big malls here rio sul. but given i only had a weeks time, i really didn't want to work that hard. so for me, the termas, beach and cafe actions just made more sense.
although still a good resource, help for me gotta a little tired after going 3 times. after the 1st time i really just went just to be a spectator. if i saw a superstar, and she was willing to meet my price range ($r150 to $200) and meet all my extensive expecations back at the princess then cool, let's make a deal. but i agree with others here in that you can find the same or even better for the most part just outside. but it is worth it to at least check it out on a sat or friday i think.

Rio's weekend is not dead at all.
Help has the best selection of girls on Fri and Sat night. Sunday is a slower night. Help has slight less girls.

Quick update, mostly nothing new:
Help: As usual, 200+ girls on a busy night, rate 4-10. There are about 10-20 knockout gorgeous Victoria Secret quality girls on any given night and they are demanding and getting 300R ($100) or MORE. Often they arrive just before midnite and are gone by 12:30. Moving further down the food chain, of course prices are negotiable, down to 200R, 150R, and occasionally 100R, especially if you want to wait until 3 or 4 A.M. and take what's left. An odd development is that there are a few 10's hanging out at Help who I saw repeatedly refusing to talk to guys who approached them. Either they are just hanging out or they are waiting for an Arab Sheik or something. Go figure!
Of course, you can always get a girl from www.ciaplus.com for 100R (plus 20 for the taxi) for 2 hours. The girls are all acceptable appearance, tho not necessarily top model quality, and will work the full two hours. Best to get a pair with a buddy, split the taxi, and then you can trade girls after the first hour.
The cute little twins Danielle and Jessica are working a few nights a week at Help. They are 21 now, although they could pass for 16 in the USA. They are still nice, not to be confused with the "evil" twins discussed below. They want 300R apiece, but will take 200-250 on a slow night.
Nice selection at Monte Carlo Terma, 20 garotas at 8 P.M., total cost, entrance, 2 beers, 40 minutes in the normal room with G of choice = 240R = $80. Hard to beat!
Had a few minor "disagreements" with garotas and vendors. As always make sure you have fixed the TOTAL price with any extras included, BEFORE you accept any services. It is a very Brazilian thing to later insist that you agreed to pay $100, not 100R, or that some service or extra costs more than the original quoted price.

I met a Help girl who won’t talk to me.
I was at Help for people watching. I had no plan to take anyone home that night. Then I saw this hot girl. She is tall, probably 6’, with dark hair. She is with the other girl. The other girl seems to be the one in charge. They roam around. I talked to her when she passed me by. Then her friend waved her away. She gets an arrogant attitude with her, not a typical Help girl. That’s why I find her very attractive. In the whole night, she won’t talk to me again. We passed each other. She and her friend refused to make eye contact. I had a great time in Rio this past April and May spending most of my time at Centaurus. It was a lot of money but worth it. Solarium was decent but I got real spoiled by Centaurus. I found the girls really cool and easy to hang out with outside the club -- at the beach, weekend trips etc.

My trip to Rio came to an end yesterday,
After a nice rodizio at Pampa Grill (Av. Almirante Barroso, Centro) it was time to go for dessert at Termas 65 (Rua do Rosario, Centro) At about 1730 the selection was stunning, both my heads were starting to spin when Savannah came to my rescue.
This tall 23 y.o mulata clara has a 9 face on anybody´s scale and a body to match (classic brazilian, slightly bigger butt and smallish breasts). She was great fun to be with at the bar and a fantastic performer at the room. After an hour together where everything was done, if I did not know better, I would said she had fallen in love with me. My experience is that some girls only inside help for dancing, watching people etc.
A night a blue-eyed blond danced all night alone refusing all guys want talk to her. Of course, refusing me too, shit! Let no one invite her to a drink.
Another time, two girls in front of me just when I´m entering "Help". I ignored them because firstly I wanna have a drink and do a lap to check out the scene. Maybe my expectations were pitched to high I. It´s hard to escape someones notice especially hookers. They spent the whole night chatting to two clueless guys. After they went out alone.
BTW, "Baronetti" seems to be a cool place for semi-pro action. I have asked a few girls at "Help". They told me they are joining much more Baronetti than Help.
This is very sad to travel this far and to have club Help girls play mind games with you, if you wanted that you could have stay home and went to a local bar.
This is why I enjoy the termas so much the prices are posted and you can avoid a lot of these mind games.

On my last trip I went to Symbol on a Thursday night which is singles night and has the free buffet and gets going early as it appears to be an after work crowd.. There were tons of middle class single girls there mostly in their 30's some in 40's and some in 20's.

Caesar Park Hotel, a swanky place in Ipanema, does not allow any "visitors" in the rooms. Don't even try.
I tried ciaplus and had to use their motel, which is only a 5 minute ride away (near Sheraton) in late evening. Two girls, Anna Paula and Luane picked me up at my hotel in a taxi and we went to their motel (Nossa Motel). Decent enough place, room was clean and had small jacuzzi. Cost for three persons was 80 reals. Plus the girls fee of 150 reals each.
Both were friendly and attractive. PHotos on their website are accurate. Anna Paula is more statuesque but less outgoing. Luane really aims to please, and she does.

I have never been to Thailand myself but second hand from people who have been to both places is this:
Thailand is definitely cheaper, but Rio definitely has more variety of women and the Rio girls will be a lot more willing to go freaky if that is your thing. (i.e. anal, threesomes, asian, anything else you can think of or never would think of).
As for looks that is very subjective. If you like big asses and hips, Rio is the place. If you look girls who look like little dolls, Asia in general would be better.

I have been to Thailand only once and many years ago but I do remember when I went I was also going to Rio too at the same time. i remember when i came back from Thailand that I said I don't need to go back there anymore, once was enough even though it was good.

Been many times to Thailand and Rio. The Thai girls all look the same to me after a while. The Rio girls have lots of variey, from blonde and blue eyed to coal black. 4'5" to 6'5". I had a similar experience with a visa. Some possible causes that one's visa may be a 90-day:
a) Your passport is expiring within the next five years; thus, you would have a valid visa in an expired passport.
b) The passport isn't a U.S passport (mine isn't).
c) The mutant at the Brazilian consulate issued what he wanted, reagrdless of what YOU wanted.
d) You used an expediting service rather than doing it yourself in-person.
e) "unspecified abnormalities" on the application.

day 7. tuesday was the day to fly out however i had 6.5 hours from check out time until my flight. okay, so i’ll have the hotel hold the bags, call company girl and meet someone at a motel, which was a short cab ride away. i get to the motel and ring up the service and their receptionist speaks good english. she said there were only three girls available. one, “sabrina” was one that had caught my eye online. she could be there in 20 minutes. she arrived on time but guess what? i am not sure she is the girl in the photo. she introduced herself with the correct name, and she had a similar body type. if it was her, she definitely put on a few kilos. she still had a pretty nice bod, sort of cute, but i really wanted someone more attractive. but i figured by the time i sent her back and found someone else it may get too late. and i prepaid the motel. so what the hell. we actually had a nice session, nice bbbj, nothing really passionate and the only girl to close mouth kiss that i met in rio. a little disappointing for my last session of the trip but we spent the 2nd hour talking and cuddling and it turned into a pretty cool experience because we were able communicate a bit and she turned out to be a really sweet girl. for $r150 for two hours and $r75 for the motel i cannot complain. as cheap as a terma visit and two hours with the girl. we shared a cab and she dropped me back at my hotel to pickup my bags. the radio cab showed up in like 10 minutes just like they said and made to the airport with plenty of time.
getting cash at an atm is the way to go. load up on 3rd floor of the airport terminal. got an excellent exchange rate, even better than credit card. i used my credit card only once, as the credit card companies are starting to add 2 or 3% charge for the currency exchange. you do need to hunt a bit to find an atm that works with your cards particular banking system. my card is cirrus and found that bank of brazil have cirrus and could even access it on a sunday. i took some back-up traveler checks and us cash as back up. never needed the cash and i did use some traveler checks to pay my hotel incidentals and they gave me an excellent rate on those. at the termas i always paid in cash, so there could be no messing with my credit card.
i did not see any crime while there. i don’t flash money around. try not to dress like a tourist. stay aware of who is around you. i am only about 5-7, 160lb. so i decided to walk with authority after dark and like i new where i was going. and i kept a wad of small cash with a 50 wrapped on the outside in one pocket incase i did get forced to cough up some money. but had no problems.
i was a little conscious of being an american with our cretin president behaving like we are the only country on the planet. but i sensed no negativity from anyone.
is it just me or are brazilians totally clueless about the us? is it that they cannot afford to travel, or they don’t watch american movies, or just no interest?
now to be a totally politically incorrect, and generalizing. what’s with italian men? i am in the locker room at l’uomo, trying to change. these 3 guys are yelling at each other, i’m literally getting wet from their spit, i need an ear-drum transplant, i had to move out of their way, even though i am standing right in front of my locker, so not to get knocked over when i’m trying to put my freakin jeans on. i’ve experienced similar behavior in the louvre in paris and in florence. in florence the locals will literally knock you off your feet walking down the sidewalk. okay so even if you chalk it up to cultural relativity – that this is acceptable behavior in their world – where did this come from? how did this develop into normal social behavior? i damn near lost my temper and caused an international incident. sorry italian dudes, maybe i just ran into some a-wholes.
wish i had tried some of the termas in centro and wanted to get to centauraus, and barbarella. another regret was not doing a dupla. but hey, i’ll have this to look forward to on the next trip!

Everyone says that Rio is the major leagues, so I think I may give in a try in the next 2 or 3 weeks. I was planning on taking the night flight from the states on Thursday night and taking the night flight home on Sunday night, I operate a small business and my employees start getting frustrated when I'm gone for long. I basically need to know what should be my plan of attack. My main innocent toursit destinations are the mountain, the beach and maybe check out some old building (just to say I did something productive). Here are my questions, I'm sure the answers are here somewhere but could someone fill me in quick.
1) Airport: How far from Rio from the airport ? Best way to travel bus or taxi from the airport? Are taxis safe in general to use for day trips?
2) Currency: How much should I bring per day? $300 USD per night okay? Are credit cards okay to use? I don't have an ATM card. Are bar tabs okay on the credit card. Where should I convert currency?
3) Hotel: Any recommendations of a hotel nearby Help and other action (around $100USD)? I will be alone so I don't want to travel in dangerous areas at night. I want to make sure I have a safe safe for my valuables.
4) Is Help the place to go? I would like to be surrounded by high quality girls and make myself cozy at a bar and trade stories with ladies and my fellow gringos.
5) How far in advance should I plan to be at the airport if my plane leaves at 10PM, in Rio?
6) Will I be able to entertain myself and get along fairly well without a travel partner? In Costa Rica, I made lots of friends quickly, is it similar?

Just got back from my upteenth trip.
Have been going to Rio for about 4 years. I made it a point to hit every spot at least once on this trip and make a new list of rankings. Some old top of the list spots have seriously dropped and some new ones are on the top.
A list of termas and new ratings:
1. Terma 65-(and first time it has made it to #1) . - Terma 65 is in centro a few blocks from 4X4. It was awesome. The quality was the best I have ever seen. Many 9 and 10's and the music was kick ass. It was like an awesome party there. Free lapdances and strip shows in the main boite. The boite was half the fun. Had a big party in the grand suite with suds and 2 garotas. The home (guy) to garota (girl) ratio was 3 to 1 in the boite. The way it should be. A little on the expensive side compared to 4x4 but what isnt?
2. Termas Aeropuerto - A new addition to my list. This was my first time there. Very impressed and a very cool place. Cant say I really remember it because it was a long trip and I am numb but I remember saying "holy shit this is an awesome spot". It is on the way to 4x4 in centro. You pass it on the right.
3. Luomo - It has dropped in ranking a touch. It was better 2 years ago and the talent there has either been there for years or the new ones are about 7's.
4. 4x4 - was good and about 100 or so chicks to choose from. Everywhere you looked there were babes. A little too crowded and squishy for me.
5. Monte Carlo - Also took a dip in rankings because of a lack of quality.
6. Centarous- The girls there are very annoying. They always have been. They do not leave you alone. I was there the same night as 50 cent (the rapper). He and Gunit had a crazy party in the master suite. The facility is the best and the area is very nice. I havent had a bad experience there but it still isnt as good as 65 or the ones above.
7. Rio Antigo - about a 15 to 1 garota to home ratio. There was a huge surplus of babes but they are not top quality. Nice clean place.
8. Solarium - This is my old #1 spot. Has taken a MEGA nose dive and I actually left because the girls sucked and it was packed with guys.
Lots of how you will like the spot is based on what time you go. Early evening being probably one of the best times to go. 4x4, and 65 open at 2pm every weekday and are closed on the weekend. Monte Carlo and Luomo open at 3 during the week and 4 on the weekend and Centarous 4 during the week and 5 on the weekend. I am not sure of the times of the other ones. The closing times are 2am for all by the beaches, but the ones in Centro (4x4, Aeropuerto and 65) 12 at night.
Help was busted. Its the same old shit in there and I actually partied with this one chick and went back to the crib and she tried to pocket some of my stuff that was on my kitchen table. I told her to put it back and get out or I will tell the doorman to call the cops and tell them she robbed me. She started to fake cry and I laughed at her. She got out. No matter how nice they seem still gotta watch them.
Barbarella was pretty good. Chilled on the couch and made a few friends there. The friend I made told me to watch the bill because they will pad it and sure enough they hit me with a 150 real drink bill which was bullshit. I had 4 drinks.

Buzios is a town like 2 hours north of Rio. I heard the people in Rio talk about it for years and it is amazing. I strongly recommend going to a tour agency (there is one two blocks up from the Mariott Hotel in Copa).
Make arrangements for a boat trip to Buzios. its the whole day long and is only 75 real. It includes a bus to Buzios (they pick you up in the morning at any hotel you want to meet at), free buffet lunch (not a bad buffet either), boat trip around Buzios, you dock in a lagoon in Buzios for 2 hours and they ferry you to a remote beach for drinks, take the boat back to the bus and a ride home. All for 25 bucks US!!!! Also on the boat it is all you can drink Caprihinas (for free). Grab some girls in Rio and bring them with you because Buzios is a remote spot like Gilligans island without a lot of people and no babes. The water is blue and clear like windex and it is heaven.
When I got ferried to the beach we met a lunch vendor in a straw hut. I ordered fish and they got a fresh fish from a guy fishing off a rock down the beach. It was still flipping around. The guy grilled it. Ate it with some fresh oysters and lemon and some beers all for 4 bucks US.
Buzios is an awesome way to break up a trip. You leave at 7:30am and get home at about 8pm.

Terma 61, located at Rua Acre, 61
It´s predominantly visited by locals and does not include the robes, lockers And saunas - so is more like going to a local bar The club was nice and some of the garotas surprisingly pretty. Also, the cabinis were actually much better than most termas in that the beds were queen size and each room included its own shower.
entry is $R 10 (includes two cervezas) and 40 min in the cabini is R$ 80. As is customary in more reknowned termas, its ók and advised to engage in for-play in the boite before you hit the cabini.
Termas 85 - a locals Terma/Casa at Rua Buenos Aires 85.
You have to climb a very narrow spiral staircase (the elevator is certain death) to the the 3rd floor. There is a small bar with about 15 girls. You can get 20 minutes for 20 Reals and some girls will do anal for R10 more. The downside is you don't get a room, just a cubicle to do the deed in.
One I actually visited:
Termas 30
Located in Centro, not to far from 4x4. it's at R. Mayrink Veiga 30 and 1. No english spoken. About 8 women present. Small boite. The suites were comparable to L'uomo, but worn. You change into robes. Not the best looking women, but I had Very intense, incredible porn sex there. It was the best fuck of that trip. Several drinks, the suite and the loira totaled up to R175!

Regarding the coupon at Solarium, just get on their mailing list, as posted below. I had no problem using it and they said I could copy it and use it any day I want.
Went back to Luomo last night looking for that little blond spinner. She was there, but so was Patricia (not the one I previously posted about - there are two there). This one is from Niteroi (sp?) and I met her when she was working at Solarium last May. We spent an hour in a suite, something I never do but made an exception for her remembering her incredible service. I was not disappointed. I was here for the first time last April, under the tutelage of good ol'"docbill".
I spent the last 6 months with Rosetta Stone and Berlitz. ( a wonderful combination if you are serious. I was HIGHLY motivated. Being rather fluent in spanish, I felt it was coming fast. Tourist arrangements can be made with your hotel people. Nothing to worry about there.
The Airport is like 20 minutes from Copa, and the taxi's are fine. Just make sure you know how much you are paying up front. Should be about $10-15 US max.
$300 US/day is way more than you'll need. I didn't use credit cards once, so I can't answer that one, but remember that everything is cheap, so you will live like a king on that budget!!
I believe that the Orthon Palace is right on the beach and is well within your price range. I stayed at the Arpoador Inn, which is a little farther away, but taxis are so cheap it doesn't matter. Look in the hotels section for more info.
Help and the cafes right in front of Help will be an excellent place to get started. You will see several Americans around, and hundreds of women.
Be at the Airport 2 hours before takeoff, just like in the States.
You absolutely, positively do not need a travel partner. And you won't be out of place by being alone. Often the girl will stay with you the next day if you like, and she can show you around.
You will have a great trip. I have also been to Amsterdam and CR, and there is simply no comparison. Brazil truly is a paradise... This will NOT be your last trip there -- I promise!

I am not bullshitting. He was there last Tuesday I think. If you look online I am sure you can confirm his tour schedule and it will say he was there. The scene was big. I went to almost all the main Termas in Rio and this was the only one specializing in this particular look. 4X4 had some girls with gear, but at Aeroporto it was all of them. But, quite frankly the selection at 4X4 was better. Some of the girls at Aeroporto had a few miles on them and others had a look that I did not like, but there were at least 2 that were real nice and appealed to the stocking/heel fetish in a major way. I would give the place a look, the pricing structure is similar to Luomo's and the other middle tier places (Centaurus being the most expensive). If you don't like it, 4X4 is a short taxi ride away. The worst place in Rio is a lot better than most places in the rest of the world.....so, it is a good day no matter what!

They're all relatively close. Not walking distance close, but a short cab ride. Monte Carlo and L'uomo are close to each other in Copa. (I have walked between the two, but easy to get lost.) Centaurus is in Ipaneam. Solarium is in Jardim Botanico. If you're staying in a Copa hotel or apartment, Solarium may be a 20 min cab ride. Rio Antiga is in the opposite direction in Leblon, maybe 15-20 min ride. Termas 4x4, 65, and Aeroporto are in Centro, maybe 25+ min ride. Ride times increase if you go during rush hour traffic. Also suprisingly, not all the cabbies know the addresses of these places. I suggest you scribble the addy on a piece of paper to give to the driver.

It's been a long time since the Cambios gave a better exchange rate then the ATM's but they are doing that once again.. approx. 2.9 from the Cambio and 2.85 from the ATM's.... give or take.. Also consider your ATM fees and it's even better...
Right. I got a rate of 2.93 at the cambio but only 2.86 at the ATM.
People say it's dumb but I always bring cash. Like they say "Cash is King". If I run out I can always hit an ATM. I just stash it around my apartment in different places and never leave with more than I expect to spend for the day.
I budget to spend about $200 a day excluding apartment. On weekdays, I usually get an escort or two at noon. Around 3 or 4PM I head to 4X4 for a late afternooner and then I hit Help at 11PM (1/2 the time I don't pick up anything, either too much $$$ or not enough quality) or I go to Luomo's.
On weekends I usually hook up with a 4X4 or an escort freelancing for weekend deal for about R$200-300 a day plus a minor shoppong trip and touring the area.
I eat at mostly at Churiscarias in the evening and local eateries in the afternoon.
I usually end up going home with about $400-500 left in my pocket. Never had to hit the ATM's yet.

I will respectfully disagree with the latest assessments of Vila Mimosa- especially those put forth by LB2 and Chupo.
While VM may not be everyone's cup of tea, it is not the viper pit you guys make it out to be. I posted a report this past spring.
1) I have met women at VM who will also work at Help on other nights. There is more crossover than you think.
2) You can get pretty good street food, and local drinks at REAL prices- not the tourist rip-off pricing that you pay in Copa. I bought my girlfriend an Experimenta t-shirt for 3 reais.
3) On EVERY trip to Rio, I visit VM. The danger is a perceived (rather than a real) one. I have never HAD or OBSERVED violence, theft, etc. I recommend that you 'man up' and leave your skirt at home, princess.

5) You won't end up feeling up a guy, as Latino Addict did.

For those of you who are just occasional visitors to Brazil, you may not have had a close encounter of the Law Enforcement Kind (Brazilian Style).
These knucklehead cops in Brazil pull their guns EVERY time they deal with anyone they don't know. I've been in a car a couple of times that has been pulled over by local police. The normal way of doing this is that the police car pulls up beside you and the officer in the passenger seat waves his gun at you to indicate you need to pull over. In the bar that I co-owned, if the police showed up for any kind of altercation, the guns would come out as soon as they arrived -- even if the fight was over.
So don't sweat it. Brazilian cops pull out the iron as casually as an American cop says "license and registration, please." It is just their style. It doesn't mean shit.

A comment on the "sem frescura" bit in the escort ads:
"Sem frescura" means "without fussiness," as previously mentioned. Search for Olivia Gay, photographer. On her website you also find photos showing the life in Vila Mimosa. Olivia Gay estimated that about 1500 girls are working at VM.

Once found a driver who did that for R$ 25. If he is from Copacabana, he might return empty. So strive for a price not much higher then the one way price, lower then 2 way. Maybe he can join you on the walk, if you are alone. I might occasionally join someone who needs company to Vila Mimosa.
Vila Mimosa is a 5 minute walk from "Praça da Bandeira" metro station. Backtrack 150 meters along the Metro tracks in direction to downtown, then go under the Metro line bridge to the small side streets, turn right, at the end of the road turn left. Do NOT walk there!! Especially do not even dream of walking there at night. This is not a tourist strolling location! While it is reasonably safe inside Vila Mimosa, the area around it does not look very safe, unless you are a local and blend in.
It is not even worth taking a taxi from the metro station, because due to one way streets you have to drive 4 miles to get to VM which is 400 yards away. You could walk 400 yards backwards, and then take a taxi. But that would still require you to walk around in a notoriously dangerous mugging area. So just take a taxi from Copacabana or from downtown.

I cannot call myself an expert on VM. Over a decade I have been there only a few times. I believe it is open 24 hours, officially, but I am not sure if you can find much at odd times like 7 am or even 10 am.
The only good experiences I had were on an early afternoon, like 2 pm. VM is almost empty at that time. But lots of places are open and a few girls are there. I have never used a VM room, but I have taken several girls out of there back to Copa.

I have been coming to Rio for many years now, and I always make a point of visiting Centarius on every trip as this has always been a favourite of mine. I appologised to the guy, why I do not know, and moved out of the area. On my way the abuse just continued, limey this, limey that, I was just glad to get away without further trouble. Why this happened I do not know, but it has again changed my attitude to going out and just sitting and enjoying a beer.

Wicked Willy’s virgin Rio Trip.
I wrote the prologue below before I arrived in Rio and just did not get around to posting it, the pace in Rio was just too hectic. Only today, my first day back home have I had the chance to post it. Still, I thought though it would be interesting posting it as was written, because then you can compare my expectations with the reality. I also will post my conclusions shortly too, before the main body of the report, as it will take me a while to collate my thoughts and photos. Rio was a fast, wild ride so my note taking really was mostly forgotten, I apologise for this, but hope the final results are worth waiting for.

Gentlemen, I am sitting in a lounge in Madrid, waiting for my connecting flight to Rio. So I am killing time writing the prologue of this trip report. This is my first major trip for a year, well overdue and because this is my virgin trip to what seems to be for many, the Mecca for all us venerable mongers, I am extremely excited. Those of you who know me, know I am a LOS man through and through, I love the FKK’s in Germany, enjoy the delights of Prague and Madrid, and play from time to time in Malaysia and Indonesia, but for me, to-date my Mecca has been LOS. It is also welcomed because I have been working all hours before the trip under extreme pressure, so boy those chicas are going to take a lot of steam from me.
It was a very, very difficult decision to go to Rio, as I have limited holiday time. This is even more precious as I have to concoct time away because of the GF. So to go any were else but my beloved Thailand is a real punt in the dark. Saying that, I love Latin women, Latin music, dancing and chicas who love sex as much as I do and Rio seems to be the perfect place for that. So despite hesitating when I was all but a screen click from booking my flight to Rio and re-looking at a trip to LOS, I eventually pressed the enter key and the rest is history.
At first I was not sure I had made the right decision, I wanted to see my favourite Thai lady G very much and know it may be difficult to top such a lovely lady. This will be a ten night trip, I am planning a Vips festa at the Millennium Suite with Yodcha and LovingMarvin (others are very welcome to join us), trips to termas, Help and perhaps a few boites. I hope to pull on the beach, do a good few escorts and Brazil Specialist ladies. I am also hoping for a few festas at Brazil Specialists place. One also hopes to have a good few nights dancing and to find some salsa clubs and if time and conditions permit do some surfing.
Apart from researching on Club ****** and the WSG, preparation included a very strict gym regime (I hade got a bit out of shape and was carrying far to much weight), have been taking Ginseng, zinc and L’arginine and plan to add Tongkat Ali and a Tribulus Terrestris to this when I arrive in Rio. I would have liked to have lost a bit more weight and been fitter for the legendary Rio girls’ performances, but time was against me.
So tomorrow I am in Rio. Travel
Getting to Rio from the UK is not cheap. It is certainly cheaper to get to LOS. There is a BA flight to Rio which stops of at Sao Paulo, but is otherwise direct and takes about 12.5 hours. This looked a more expensive option than the one I took and as I was stopping in Madrid anyway on my return the option below was better for me.
BA London to Madrid – 2 hours.
I like travelling BA to Madrid, the flights are frequent, the food good for short haul and prices reasonable if you pick the right times and book in advance. This trip was no exception. There online reservation is excellent and you can book-in in online 24 hours in advance if you are an Executive Club member (free) or 12 hours if you are not. This gives you the advantage of booking a seat by the emergency exits which has more legroom. Normally these are rows 11 and 12. You can also print out your boarding card and check your luggage separately, saving you from all the queues. All flights were on time, so had 2 hours to kill at Barajas airport. £134 return.
Pluna/Varig Madrid to Rio
This is a direct flight that takes approximately 10.5 hours there and 9.5 return. As I had 5 days in Madrid on my return it made that part of the journey a short one. This was a Pluna (Uruguay) flight shared with Varig. I cannot say they are the best airline I have flown with, the legroom was good for economy at about 34” pitch, but the room seemed tight and the food and service was average at best, but acceptable. The flight times were excellent though, departing at just before midnight, giving a night flight that I prefer and arriving at 5.30am local time, giving a very full start day in Rio. The flight departed at nearly 11pm, again a night flight, again giving a full day in Rio and touches down in Madrid at 1.40pm local time. The flights were all prompt and I had no complaints at all. Going out it was packed, the return however was only ¾ full. £500 return
Airport/Rio/Airport
I had a driver pick me up from the airport the cost was Reals (R) 40 each way including tip. LovingMarvin was flying in an hour later so the driver and I decided to wait for him. I took this option as I was worried about the ride to town and the driver was recommended. It saved all the hassle of avoiding the expensive touts as you come out of the arrivals door and worry about getting a normal yellow cab outside the airport.
I did not check out the arrival facilities, but there are ATMs and Bureau de Changes. Be aware though, that when departing, the facilities once through the customs and immigration are not good and I found food and drink supplies quite limited.
Accommodation – Brazil Specialists apartment
This deserves a special mention. Staying here was poles apart from my normal hobbying accommodation in the East, where I have been spoiled by 4-5* hotels and serviced apartments at incredible prices. It is definitely not for everyone. However, saying that if I had stayed in a hotel or other apartment my trip would have not been the same, staying here helped considerably to make this trip a special one. It is difficult to put into words what staying here is like. It definitely is not all about a bed, facilities and service.
My room was an integrated part of the apartment; you go through the rest of the place to get to it. That is interesting in itself, as you will see new young ladies nearly every time you return, meet fellow hobbyists visiting the apartment and probably have the pleasure from time to time of being groped by some 18 year old hottie! You can separate yourself from the comings and goings by a door, which opens to a small free area between the bedroom and bathroom all of which can be locked. The bedroom is a good size with fridge, wardrobe space, access to a shared, but big terrace and has my favourite - mirrors on one entire wall and behind in the wardrobes. The bathroom was a good size with walk in shower, sink, toilet and jacuzzi bath. If you are looking for spotless, clean and 5* luxury this is not for you, but it is adequate and reasonably priced. The room was cleaned 3-4 a week. The apartment does have excellent wi-fi access and a hardwired computer with shared access to the internet. There are also numerous phone options including free calls to the States. The terrace had a shower and is well protected form the outside world by potted trees.
Brazil Specialist is often criticised on this and other boards, from what I have seen this is unfair. He is definitely a character, one you may love or hate. Personally I got on OK with him; he is definitely very knowledgeable on Rio, has many contacts with girls, model agencies and is an asset to know for any rookie in Rio. Thanks to Brazil Specialist I had different girls most mornings, I would wake up, wander out into the apartment and there would be a choice of new or old talent available. Sometimes I would get a tap on the door to find two or three young ladies eager to fulfil my breakfast needs for very few Reals. Some were even begging me to take them to my room to fulfil their breakfast requirements! I really never knew what would happen and this made my morning breakfast the most exciting meal of the day. I even stopped having girls stay over, when I could, so I could have fresh talent in the morning! There were parties there with girls from modelling agencies, other agencies showing the girls on there books and Brazil Specialist was often taking fellow hobbyists to the cheaper terma or modelling shows. The bottom line is the place was a honey-pit full of life and activity. If you want luxury, a place to take a special lady back or peace and privacy it will not suit you. If you want a surprise a minute, lots of girl contacts and action, then definitely give it a go. Even if the apartment is not your cup of tea, Brazil Specialist is a good contact to have in Rio.

Thanks everyone for all the support re the broken condom. I'm not really that freaked out because I do know the transmission for HIV is relatively low. But being the paranoid that I am, I scrubbed a little too hard last night and now I'm a little raw. So I think I'll take the night off and wait for it to heal. Upstairs has an excellent live Bossa Nova show and be sure to order "Camarão à Milanesa com Arroz à Grega". If you like Cajun cuisine, I would equate this to a shrimp etouffee with a Brazilian touch. in the afternoon we were taken by hl and a couple of other guys to monte carlo my first introduction to termas. i will compare termas to fkks at the end of the report.

monte carlo turned out to be the least favourite of all the termas i went to, with the worst selection of girls, but do not get me wrong these things are relative and it is still worth a visit and very convenient to copacabana.

Day Two – The Silicon Sisters

Day Three - Opportunity Missed

For some reason I think I know you, or I might you or I am almost sure you know some of the guys I know.
Well anyway I have had some really good times at club Help and at Barbellea's.
The times I have been to Barbellea's I make it a point to meet the owner or the floor boss I been going to Rio for a long time, I always get there early and shake hands with the floor boss and just tell him what the deal is and what I expect, I let him know I will be in Rio for a few weeks and if things goes right I will return again and again and I will tell mine boys about the place when I return home.
BUT!! I also warned him if the clowns (servers) try TO PAD my bill or play games there will be a problem, with that said, I haven't had any problems there in the past few years of going there, I make sure I tell the owner and the floor boss before I leave to tell the girl that I want her for "ALL NIGHT" and if she can't stay all night then let me know so I will pick someone else.
The point I am making is this the owner and floor boss is there to make $$$ and if they try to hit the lotto off me ONE NIGHT that will be a mistake, because I will NOT return there and they could make a lot $$ off me if they treat me right.
Help is the same deal I know all the bouncer's and floor boss, I EVEN BRING THEM STUFF BACK FROM THE STATES when I go to club help the 1st night in town etc. and I tip the guys good the 1st night after THAT I GET VIP TREATMENT AS LONG AS I AM IN RIO going to club help I get ( good rate on reals/good tables/ free refills/ HOT food with refills) I tip good but I also get VIP treatment the wave the entrance fee and I DON'T STAND IN LINE for anything.
Now, you right Dark Knight "hanger ons" and low rate club help girls try to hang around for freebees if they aren't a "10" or fly or a HOT girl I wave them on or give the bouncer and look and he escort the girl away, (also if I see something "NEW" the bouncer give me the intel/info on the girl and I TELL the bouncer to bring her over.
Don't take this wrong its not like I am a big shot or anything I am just known around RIO from going the a lot and the owners of the club knows if I am treated right and I carry myself well, and not like some dumb ugly fat loud drunking American Gringo THAT wear the same T-shirt everyday or the same dirty jeans everyday or don't shave or brush their teeth and smells.
If you want to be treated with respect guys respect YOURSELF get a fresh haircute before you leave/lose some weight/wear clean clothes etc.

I went to both 4x4 and Luomo yesterday. Familarity breeds contempt. I know the girls are same, but for some reason it just isn't as good as it was. I picked, rather she picked me, a girl at 4x4. When I got there she was immediately sitting next to me and started to caress me. I was passive. As the hour and a half rolled by, the girls I've been with came by to say hi and chat. Melt, Bombar, etc are in Ipanema/Leblon (whointhehell knows where the border is?) clubs. These aren't P4P clubs like Help, Barbarela's , etc. The crowd is comprised of young locals; coupled and singles. The music is a combination of Brazilian pop, Braz hip-hop, and american pop, r&B and hip-hop.
Discoteca Six in Lapa had the best music of anywhere I've been...but it was closed every time I went on my last visit, even though the people in the area said it isn't closed permanently.
All of the non-Copa clubs I've been to in Rio work off the 'debit card' concept. You get issued a card at the door, and you drink on that card, and they swipe that card at the end of the night and that is what you owe.
The HUGE upside to these clubs is that you get to meet new girls, and new people. There are very few of the aforementioned fat, aging (40+), balding gringos. When you go to Help, you see alot of those. The local clubs have a good-looking, fairly cosmopolitan crowd.
This is important because among the locals {and you know how Cariocas are into appearance} good-looking girls will bring out the attractive guys which in turn brings out more hot girls... chicken or the egg, but it all works. Example: where do you think all of those cute women you see working at the airport, banks, hotels party?
You certainly are not assured of scoring at these clubs. I have ended up on both sides of the balance sheet. But even when I did NOT score, I still had a great time (especially if you hit a termas earlier in the day). Some portuguese language skill helps, but you'd be surprised: alot of the middle-to-upper class young crowd has learned english in school and speaks better english than you do portuguese.
Another option is to bring a presentable garota with you. She can navigate the language barrier, while you get the experience of somewhere new....and you STILL get your nookie at the end of the night.
You can meet people who will (or want to) take you to Florianopolis, Buzios, Cabo Frio, etc. Granted, you may end up financing the side-trip. But it's better than spending the day at Pataca...no?

I also went to this other spot in Ipanema, but forget the name. It was a narrow place up the street from Bombar with an "english pub"-type setup. The waitstaff wears long-sleeved black shirts. Maybe someone else will recognize the description. Nice crowd. Classy, upscale folks.
Cisco, I'm not balling like you, champ. I DO get pretty good treatment on the occasions that I go to HELP because there's a short, older waiter upstairs that I have overtipped in the past. But Barbarela's has punked me to the point where I've got on a visor and an armband doing major accounting over my tab. I need to bring my laptop with Quicken when I go there.

Day Four – Luomo Marathon
Looking back at the trip while writing the report it becomes clear that life became more hectic the longer the trip went on and Day four was one of the slowest in terms of new girls and sessions, but I will always remember it as an incredible day. It was not full of girls maybe 20-25 were there, but there were only a handful of guys and the talent was not too bad. I later learnt on my last day, that there is a TV and other lounging area opposite the Boite. What I meant to say was many months & not many years, sorry just a slip of the keyboard. Since the end of March I have been working 7-10 days in Rio and then returning to the UK for 14-16 days and then returning again, working the same pattern. I am trying to set up a subsidery of the company that I work for in the UK, in Rio, mind you it feels like years and not months with all the travelling. Just got back from Brazil Tuesday. I had a great time. I started the trip without a room, but had met a guy on the plane who was coming down to film a porn movie and said his hotel was a good deal. So we got a taxi for 35R to Copacabana. I checked out the orthon something hotel and our taxi driver said he was renting apartments. So I checked out the apartments next door and they looked okay. I got a single bed apartment, no maid service, water was not to hot (I hate instant water heaters), security at desk, clean sheets, $40 night and guests allowed.
I walked around the beach at first, the wind was chilly the waves were not inviting (and probably deadly to a bad swimmer like me) and the vendors on the beach were a bit annoying. I ate some Brazilian BBQ (everyday at least one meal) and checked out the eye candy running around. Walked around the streets and returned to take a nap at the apartment.
Went to Help later that night and discovered that nobody is there when they first open. So I waited around and slowly the crowd grew and there were a hundred a so girls just on the bag check line. Day Five – A Truly Great Day, Festa, Dupla and Records Broken
