I have to make a few comments about methods having watched a few people do their thing.
One guy made a point of only using English when he made his moves. This was despite him being half Japanese. He claimed that it had a good rate of success and got the girls number pretty much 7 out of 10 times.
Might be something to that?
Another guy made a point of making physical contact with the girls. Even going as far as to touch them on the shoulder while talking. I don't see how that would work.

ESI can assure you that I know what nampa is and I understand perfectly the difference with the easy road of internet dating. And you're right I should probably have used another word (sorry my English is not perfect and I don't use always the right term) or at least add "" around the word nampa. I just use the word as an shortcut and because after all, while the title of the thread itself is "Nampa", we speak mostly of internet dating recently. I don't think it's "insulting" in any way, I mean it's not like I equate paintball and WWII or anything like this!

ESI beg to differ. AFF, for example, is very hard to get noticed on. No fish in a barrel to shoot at all. Yes it does make it easier and they may even contact you (gyaku-nampa) but even then it takes a lot of work. In fact internet based contacts may be even more of a challenge as people are mistrusting of the net.
In short I think it IS a form of NAMPA.

check out the japanese wikipedia page for nampa. no mention of the internet, it's all flesh and blood balls out risk-taking. just because you're making it hard on yourself by using the exact wrong internet dating site instead of jc, wf et al doesn't mean it's actually hard to get laid on the internet in japan. it's a freaking barrel full of cute, slow-moving fish.

I just realised that this month marks the 30th anniversary of my first encounter with a Japanese woman.

Thank youFew suggestions. It has been awhile since I was in Roppongi, but if a place called Midas is still open try there. If you are white, I suggest you try the clubs where blacks hang out, and if you are black, go to places were whites hang out. Reason being sometimes the girls there want to try something different. So you would be in the best position to score. Also, I would recommend start going to Starbucks and other non-club places to meet older women. Most of the time they will not hang out in the club scene.
As for younger women, I would recommend buying at least two drinks, and if they don't look like they want to go out with you leave. They know that they can get anyone in the place and if they sense that you may be a bit desperate to try to pick them up, then they will have you. I used to just buy one or two, and if all they want to do is hang with their girlfriends and dance all night I would leave them. Why waste your time. You would be better served finding you a professional on the street, and going to her serveral times to build up a relationship to get free services or "on demand" services at least than going out to clubs and trying to please some young girl who probably has a boyfriend someplace or don't know what they really want.

JpnDudeMy advice is to let them think that they found you out and come clean with a different story. After all she is not the "main" squeeze, so it is going to end someday, just let her think that she is going out on top. JpnDudeThis would have been much easier to spin the other way around. But still doable I think. Here's what I would do. Tell her that the site you met her on is filled with girls looking for single guys just because they want a cool foreigner boyfriend or free English lessons. That was okay to an extent but you were starting to feel like you were being exploited. The last few girls you met definitely only cared about you because you were foreign. I found out too late that it is probably much better trolling the net to hook ups than going out to bars and clubs. You are more likely to find a married woman that way, especially if you go during the daytimg or early evenings. Also, an oldie but goldie sight that may still be out there is WorldFriends. I used to pull a few women from Japan off there, but since my status has changed, can't really get into that now. This has happened many, many times.I hate to tell you this, but you got duped pretty hard by deai sakura. Sakura is the name given to people who are employed by these websites. Their job is to get as many mails out of you as possible, make you use points and therefore have to keep buying more. They work for the site so they're not who they say they are, may not even be women, and you will never meet them.
It's hard to give you a set of rules for figuring out sakura, because they imitate real life women and girls so a lot of their behaviors I have experienced before from real women online. In general though, you have to look at the whole package. If everything is too good to be true, then it is. I'll try to give you some things to look out for.
First you have to keep in mind that it's their job to make you burn points. If you consider that then finding them out will be much easier. So sign number one is that they constantly email you. Always asking questions or just wanting to talk. Turnaround time on replies will be very fast. 10 minutes on average. Real girls can also reply fast, but that's usually when they're bored and have nothing else to do. If you are getting fast replies no matter what time of day you may want to be suspicious. For example, I'd arranged to meet one, but she kept mailing me saying she was at work and stuck in a meeting. But if you're stuck in a meeting, how do you have time to be mailing someone on a deai website? These are things to look out for.
They're also very good about telling you exactly what you want to hear. There are a number of role types. Bored housewife, curious college student, working girl looking to let loose after hours, etc. They'll be very up-front about NSA sex. In some cases they even offer to pay you. They'll be up for anything and you can pretty much do or say no wrong. On that note, when you mention that you're foreign if she has no reaction then that's a red flag. Most real women react in some way. They're curious or maybe they become concerned if you understand their Japanese. Sakura tend to blow it off and keep rolling with their routine.
If you try to exchange real email addresses and they just don't get it. Especially if you're getting closer to a "meeting", at some point it would make sense to exchange keitai or at least PC email. You send yours and they claim it's been filtered by the site. You send it in code to try and get around the filter and they just don't get it. I have met some women who were kind of reluctant to give out actual email until we met, but for the most part you'd get the real address before a meeting.
And as you experienced, you set up meeting times and they back out at the last minute. There's always an excuse. Can't get out of work, husband came home early, etc. Here is where it starts to get really obvious, as I said before if she's stuck in some situation where she can't leave but yet she can answer your mails within 5 minutes, that's very suspect. She'll be apologetic and tell you next time and then continue to mail you and try to get as many replies out of you as possible.
Any site that uses the point system is already suspect. I honestly believe that the vast majority of them are pure scams. I'm sure real ones exist out there somewhere but trying to find them is like navigating a minefield and more often than not not worth it.
Speaking of real deai sites, in the Kansai thread we've been talking about one called wakuwaku. Despite using the point system, this one is actually fairly legit. However, it's really for women who are freelancing. I have yet to find one on there who didn't have "conditions". Ie her asking price.
