Very wise. Keep in mind that Macedonia (as well as Serbia, Montenegro and Albania) are still dangerous places. This does not mean that you should not visit them or should be afriad to walk in the streets, but as soon as the local people start to act in a strange way it is better leave the place.
I agree with Aurix. I have lived in the Balkins for the past ten years and Albania, Macedonia and Kosovo may seem to be a nice enviorment during the day at night time these enviorments change. There also seems to be an increase on police crackdown on clubs. When I need to find some action I always try to get out of the Balkins where I am releatively secure in knowing that I will not be rip off or beaten.

Skopje is nice. Find the US embassy opposite that is the park...where all come to party in the summertime. In the park there are two hotels will run you about 50 euro a night. Better than the Hilton in the center of the town or the Alexander Palace. The bus is the best way to get to Sofia, but I do have a buddy there who would take you all the way to Sofia, and set up the hotel for you as well. Skopje is not a small city it has about 1,000,000 people living.

Regarding our hobby: (info is from locals I spoke to about this)
Because of many police crackdowns, Skopje has become a difficult place for this.
Best chance is taxi drivers or your hotel guys, but expect to pay EUR 100 at least per hour.
This is really crazay compared to the average income level of about EUR 280 a month!
Most action seems to have moved to Tetovo and in summer to the famous lake Orchid.
Women look sexy when going out sometimes (like in Hard Rock Cafe), but do not underestimate how conservative they are. They are not happy to speak to foreigners in general because of social control. But this changes a lot when they have a good excuse to talk to you, because they are a waitress, hotel staff or doing business with U.
You will not have a language problem, most people speak english quite well and are proud of it. Actually the best of all the Eastern European countries I have visited (almost all).
I know this is not a travel forum, but since it is really very difficult to find any pratical info about Skopje, (almost no travel guides available) I decided to help a little.
Hotels: Holiday Inn, Stonebridge and Best Western Turist are all ocated very well. Holiday Inn is best, but still don't expect anything special.
Bars cafe's and restaurants: many along the river starting at the Holiday Inn. Download the free guide from the internet at www.inyourpocket.com It has good info.
Best advice: there is a nice place that is not mentioned in any of the sites, I don; t know why. It is called The Hard Rock Cafe (not part of the chain). It is a club in the city center (10 min walk from the old stone bridge). Do not go there before 23. 00 hrs.
The nicest place to stay as a foreigner is the Irish Pub, close to the Holiday Inn along the river. Do not expect to have a very exciting time in Skopje, but it is a nice place and people are very friendly.

i walked there at about 21:00 and could not find anything. ok. after that i asked a taxi driver, he told me that there is action there. costs about 16 eur. i went there with two another taxi drivers, both times i was very drunk, just to check what is going on. there was an action there. at one place there were 2 gypsies. near gas station there was 4 or 5 ugly pros. first time my taxi driver was an asshole, he asked a gypsy pro about the price, and translated me that she wants 4000 (60 eur). i do not believe in it now, after our investigation he charged according to taxi-meter about 1100 mkd. perhaps it was not taxi-meter but something else like a watch.
he offered me to bring a girl to my hotel first for 10000 than for 5000. it smelled like real cheat, i decided not to take this opportunity.
next day i took another taxi driver, he brought me again to this tv place. this time i negotiated with girls by myself, they offered only for thousand. i did not take her, asked to drive away.
next days i will try this scene again, since taxi in skopje costs nothing, the way to tv station is just 1. 5€ more than my original way home.
conclusion is, the action near tv building starts at least after 23:00. it seems they do not go to your place, they have there some hotel.

2. internet.
there are three ads in internet. just google for "erotska masaza". or "? ".
one of the ads is cheat. the number is like 075-14*****. the price for one call or sms is about 0. 8€. i did not know it, tried to call this number. very nice voice with couple of girls voices in background asked me to call later and send sms. so i lost about 400 mkd chatting with them. there is another number. it is ok, but nobody answers to sms or picks up.

4. newspapers
i checked? (dnewnik) and was not able to find any sex-ad. another newspaper-same shit. but then i bought daily newspaper "? " (oglasnik). this newspaper is intended only for advertisement, contains no articles, only ads. and here they are. in "? " there are the same phones like in internet, but if you check another section –?. "services" you can find more than 15 offers for "erotic massage".
for those who does not read cyrillic some tips:
all massage ads usually start with the word "? " – massage or "? " – massage girl. there are enough ads of massage boys for girls. if you see something like:
“Масерка” – maserka- massage girl
“на маж” – na mazh – for men
“нуди” – nudi – offers
this is for you.

there is another important word: „? " – zakazhuvanye – order, means you have to call and order it first.
i called all of them at about 22:30. 3 answers, but when they hear english, they tell immediately, that they do not speak and drop the call. from the other side it is too late, you have to call at daytime. next days i will try to learn couple of words and start my conversation not with "do you speak english", but with some macedonian words. i will go there if massage is below 60 eur.
conclusion: buy the newspaper "oglasnik" and you will find ads there.
5. bars, nightclubs.
i am not very experienced in pick up in the bars. sometimes i have sex with ten different girls per month, but they are either from internet, or friends, or friends of friends, or from some companies. but bars where i do not know anybody are complicated to me. i am waiting sometimes, that a girl starts chatting with me, they don’t? not more than 10% of my girls were taken from bars or picked up on the street. anyway.

6. taxi drivers.
i asked many of them about the action. some of them say, there is a hotel, you go there, there are girls inside. they said different names, seems many of cheap hotels especially on the albanian side offer something.
another advice from them – go to old railway station (stara zheleznichka). there is a restaurant there, prostitutes are inside.
another hint, some of beauty salons have prostitutes inside. there is a banner on tito street. their offer is peeling, massage, nails etc-just normal offer of beauty salon. but the banner with girl in swimsuit. i won’t wonder if they offer extra service.
i saw price list of another beauty salon. looks like normal one. list of normal beauty salon services. but i wonder why there is no central phone number in the pricelist. just mobile numbers of three girls.

Was in Skopje for the first time a few days ago and my time was very limited in the afternoon. I spoke to a few taxi drivers who told me the newspapers have lots and lots of advertisements where girls work from private apartments. Since I don't speak or read Macedonian this option is only a good idea if you have someone who is local and reliable. I took a taxi from the centre to the area around the TV Station. As reports have stated, Skopje is not a great place to play.
