Pissed off that I got talked out of attending the tent for another location. Attended the other location with some guys for all of 5 minutes ...it was that good! Could'nt find the Medellin tent as it was madness on the streets. A friend that did go told me is was good fun......as usual.

It is like the running of the bulls, only with 9,000 or so horses. They sell cans of soap for you to spray. Crazy fcukers spraying horses in the face makes for good action. Saw 2 guys thrown with one of the guys knocking a third guy off his horse too. The real show though are the women walking around.

If it is perceived, the statement that the VIP has a superior facility than the Mansion, as negative, well that is your problem.

My opinion is that it is a nicer facility. Maybe it is the hand carved woodwork appointed throughout. Maybe it is the layout of the facility. Maybe it is the nice living room with two very large couches or perhaps because you can take breakfast while overlooking the pool. The shortcomings were with service delivery, where the Mansion excels.

Back when Freeze and Greg were still in Cali and still had hair LOL!

Awesome views up there on top of Poblado, and a greatly refreshing breeze so no AC was necessary (freaked me out the first night but I nwever needed AC) . VERY secure as it was a high rise and the guard for the building never asked girls for IDF or other nonsense. Wolfy & I Had it to ourselves and took lots of pics of girls out by the rooftop pool. Could post some if there is interest.

I took these at Club Antioquia Tropical over Semana Santa this year. It is a water park resort north of MDE near Barbosa about 30 minutes by car past Niquia, the last metro stop. Unfortunately, I never had a chance to troll because I was juggling two chicas during my 11-day stay. There was some talent available. Anyplace you go in Colombia there are chances.

Great for you guy´s taking a firm hand and getting the Thread back to where it belongs.

SURF, The Penthouse was opened in September 2004 by Medellin Bob (aka Robert) Richard (aka Freek) and Tom (aka plastic surgery gone wrong!!)

Tom left the partnership on the 1st March 05 and I became a third partner at the same time, Richard left the partnership on the 30th April 05, he didnt like the pressure !! so from then on it was Medellin Bob and myself 50% partners.

Robert was still partners with Steve Valdez at Colombian Sweethearts in July/August 03, I was staying there and was a guest at Colombian Sweethearts in Envigardo near Carrafour, I wittnessed the breakup, I sided with Robert.

I had already stayed 2 months in Cali and also 1 month in Medellin, it was at this time both Robert and I teamed up and formed a strong friendship.
I headed back to Australia for 9 months.
Robert moved to Hotel Plaza Rosa for 6 months and then to a apartment not far away just off Calle 10, where he met Freek, Freek moved in and then I returned to MDE in June 04 for another 2 months.
It was at this time Robert was looking for partners for expanding, I said no because I had a few court cases to finalize in Australia (marriage breakup/property settlement) and also my father was dieing.

I returned to Ozzie where I finished all my resopnsabilities (Dad died) and then spent 2 months in B.A. Argentina over Christmas 04, met Jackson y Capt Dave, formed a very good friendship with them and a few other guy´s down there, arrived back to MDE, Colombia permanent the end of January 05.

From then on its been Robert and I with by now a good team of workers headed by Lina (Administrator) Edgar (maintance) Estella (Estella comes from the Colombian Sweethearts days to)

So as far as B.G SURF, you are wrong mate, neally every body is A.G (after Greg) I´m one of the originals after Robert, Steve Valdz in MDE, before Freek, Tom and all the other so called experts.
I carnt recall when Albert from VIP came to MDE from Bogota but I will ask him next time I see him.

In Cali it is non negotiable (you NEVER need it in Bogota, but you BETTER HAVE A HEATER!); my first trip to MDE (2003) I stayed at Mercure and had AC. When I first arrived at the Penthouse I remember asking Vanessa where the AC was and being horrified when she said no hay. I, like the guy who joined you the first night, was considering bailing but I got in late and thought I'd move the next day. Of course I never needed it and ended up just staying put, but it shows how important pereceptions are.

Well, I'm finally getting caught up with personal business after a two week stay with Robert and Greg during the Feria de Flores and feel that a special thanks is in the order. (I know, first post. For those who look down on it, get over it. There's a first for everything.) After an initial room room mix-up, Robert, Greg, & Lina went out of their way to make sure all was straightened out.

Greg/Robert/Lina: The apartment was superb! Couldn't have been better. The activities planned around the numerous events were plentiful and fun. As for the introductions, . WELL! Let's just say that Veronica, Caro, Carolina I, Carolina II, Carolina III, Catalina, Merly, Andrea I, Andrea II, Jasmine, Juli, Mayreli, Yenny, Diana, . Forgive me if I forgot to mention all the chicas that contributed so much to ensure that I enjoyed Medellin:). That's not to mention the endless supply of chicks from Loutron, Fase II, etc.

You really can't go wrong staying at the Mansion or El Castillo. It was a gas all around with never a lack of fun to be had. Miss em all. Hope to be back next year.

I also believe that in Colombia and some other countries, the line between pro and non pro is MUCH more blurred. Shades of Grey as opposed to Black & White.
But rather than ask Greg their asking price, he is no chulo after all, why not use some charm to try and negotiate with las hermanas yourself. I don't think you're being paranoid. I took a bus from Pereira to Medellin for the first time about two and a half weeks ago. I left early in the morning as I was told by several natives that it is the best time to travel on the roads through the mountains - more activity. The trip was beautiful, but there were a lot of desolate stretches without check-points, and I didn't notice any police or military cars or trucks on patrol the whole trip.

The guide I used in Cali (he's a native of Cali) gave me his opinions about travelling back up to Medellin by bus. Cali through Manizales were fine, but between Manizales and Medellin still carried some risk - especially as a gringo. Not wanting to sound alarmist, he said I could take the bus in the morning and the odds were very slim that I would have a problem. But then he added, if he was me (a gringo), he would take a plane from Manizales or Pereira to Medellin. He said as a gringo, even the routes over the mountains from this area to Bogota carries some risk.

I then told him about Greg offering his driving tours through these mountain areas from Medellin to Bogota, and he literally shut his eyes and winced. Really not a good idea - actually tempting fate was the general summary of what he had to say. A car load of gringos/non-Latinos travelling around ... people notice, and information can be passed along quickly.

So, maybe he was just being on the real conservative side, I don't know - but I think it's a perspective worth considering.

You should ALWAYS enquire among the locals BEFORE traversing ANY rural highway in Colombia as conditions change overnight.

I certainly do not wish Greg ill, I actually kinda like the guy despite his rough edges and his part in the sex tourist invasion (and the $15 he still owes me LOL!), but I will say an attack on his group would do wonders in terms of slowing the gringo rush. And IMHO it is a matter of WHEN, not if. And when it happens rest assured there will be a LOT of savy travelers saying "I told you so".

To all the ¨arm chair experts¨

Aussie Greg´s Colombian Tours is up and running and is a sucsess.

I´ll leave all the guy´s with their negative comments to themselves.
All the photo´s will be up probley on Monday when Camilo comes in.

A quick run down on the tour. It was a tailer made tour for a group of Italians guys who wanted to see REAL Colombia in just a few days, they also invited a Americain guy that they met in Cartegena while playing Poker, one guy was Italia´s best Poker player, so in all off we went, the 6 of us. (a great group of guy´s)

7.00am, left El Castillo, Medellin and had breakfast in La Pintada at 10.00am, arrived in Manizales at 1.00pm, city tour then headed to Santa Rosa de Cabal and a Thermales Hot Srings swim.
Left their at 5.00pm and headed into Pereira (I called the Pereira ***** Johanna and said hi, her boyfriend answered the phone and gave it to her, anyway I said hi and left it at that)
I had a hotel in mind but the guy´s them selves found another quiet close so I was happy to, while they freshenned up, I walked over to the casino and won a cool 1,060,000 pesos at Black Jack, not bad for 35 minutes.
Of we went to a resturant, we eat and then I went to bed, the guy´s done the ***** houses and came back with their catch for the night.

After trying to get all the boys together the next morning, of we drove to Armenia and strait to Parque de Coffee where the boys walked around for the afternoon, the guy´s loved it. We arrived to our Hotel at 7.00pm (this time they liked my selection of Hotel and then I freshenned up and took a taxi to my old girlfriends house (Jenny) she was supprised to see me and I took her out to dinner with the guy´s.
After dinner I retired and she took the guy´s on a tour of Armenia and the guy´s all par-took in the local inhabitans !!!!

The next morning, of we went to the canopy tour where we coundnt fly because it started raining but the drive their and back was great.
On the way home we called into Solento, just out of Armenia for lunch and then the long drive back to Medellin, the last three hours in the dark. !!!!

On my latest adventure from Cali to Pereira and back ... on the bus ... I saw plenty of military and police about ... however ... a guy (Colombiano) on the busa told me that sometimes the "bad guys" ... FARC, etc ... have set up fake road blocks, dressed us as regular Army ... that concerned me a bit.

On one road check by the police ... in a small town north of Tulua ... they wanted to see all male passengers' cedula. Of course I don't have one ... I showed my Drivers Lic. de USA and a copy of my Passport.
The guy was acting angry that I didn't have my actual passport with me and was giving me a bit of a hard time.

I told him that I was told by the police in Cali, my friends, that I shouldn't carry my original and that maybe we should call them.
He then let me pass with no problem.
Probably looking for some bribe money from me.
My Colombian friends, including my police buddies in Cali told me later, upon my return, that this was most likely the case and that it's common.

The drive from Medellin to Armenia, you go through many Police/Military check points, usually at every entrance and exit to bridges, towns, tunnells and intersections, also they have pay tolls which is their way of controlling people/vehicles etc, on one such trip I forgot my drivers licience, the Police gave me a ticket for 400,000 pesos but when I got back to MDE and went to pay for it, I didnt have any record at the Police ticket office (nice guy´s)

I have always found the Police/Military nice guy´s, the only thing I have been asked for is some water at a check point.

This last trip with the Italians, we didnt get stopped once. The only dangouris situation was our Colombian driver and driving back over Altos de Minus at night with all the big trucks going the other way.

I just returned from my sixth trip to the Mansion/Apartments. This time I stayed at El Castillo Apartments. The rooms all have private bathrooms now. Some of them have air conditioning.

Both the Mansion and El Castillo Apartments was mostly full this time. As usual, I had lots of fun. During day time a group of us would hit the massage parlors, New Life, Abidos, Energy, or the others depending on quality. They are two sisters and guests staying with us can meet them anytime, they are real !!
Yes the Mansion y El Castillo share amenities, mostley when we have the Sunday pool/barbies with chicky babies all around..
Some people say its quieter up at El Castillo, sometimes thats just not the case.
As for being private, neither the Mansion nor El Castillo is more private, its up to the guests if they want to be private.

El Castillo does not have a refrigerator in any room (you can use the one in the kitchen) or is airconditioned (one room is airconditioned) but does have a pool (not heated) safes, fans, T.V´s.

Where the Mansion has all rooms airconditioned, safes, fans, 4 rooms have jacuzzi´s with larger T.V´s refrigerator´s, from Thursday to Sunday heated swimming pool.

Your wingman, can he speak spanish or is he a millionare !!!!!! both GFE and spotfucking are available here in MDE, just the GFE takes a little longer.
