Soi Cowboy - AfterSkool – From Asok station this is on the left about half way down soi cowboy. Its basically a hand/blow job bar, although the idea of getting this level of service in a rather public corner of a bar has never really excited me. I mainly use this bar for first time visitors to Bangkok. The girls are aggressive and you can have am amusing time negotiating all details of their special service in front of your guest. The last guy i took there is an experienced Australian monger, but when i negotiated a bare back blow job with swallow service for 500baht in the corner of the bar, it did raise his eyebrows a bit. The bad thing about this bar is its a rip off by Bangkok standards. If you are use to Lockhard Street in HK you will be familiar with the system. “Please buy me a tequila” every 10min, which is either watered down or some form of non-alcoholic drink – at least i can never taste any tequila when is inspect the glass. So, keep a careful count of the drinks and don;t spend too much time their.

Soi Cowboy – Can't remember their names – There are a few bars in the street with offer you glass top dancing, or something similar. Girls with no knickers dance on a glass floor above you. Initially i though, so what, but i have to admit after frequenting two of these bars for about 30min each, there was a certain something about them. Next time i will get the names, as there are a lot of very poor quality bars in soi-cowboy, which need to be avoided.

Nana Plaza – Carousel or Hollywood – Both are similar, on level 2 of the plaza (or level 3 if you are from the US). It has high priced drinks (by Bangkok standards) but i have found has rather pretty women working there. If you get their early you will have the opportunity of getting the nicest girls. The only issue is these women are not normally very experienced (at least the pretty ones are not) so they give poor quality BJ and have no idea what a condom is – so i would be very careful with protection.

As to the bars in Soi Cowboy being of poor quality, that depends on what you are looking out for. There are always stunners if you stay long enough.

Prices of drinks are standard, no ripoffs. Girls are friendly.

The tequilas are tequilas. I have tasted quite a few if different bars.

Relax dude, I've been hearing this for years. Never trust what drunks tell you in bars.

If they move, it will no doubt be to a better location. Plus, they know why they make their money, so they'll still be an ample supply of pussy at their new venue.

2005: a sex odyssey

part 2: the sukhumvit monger district

it was still raining slightly when i took the bus from pattaya to bangkok.

this bus has a symbolic meaning, it is like the wings of icarus: one of the few ways to escape the labyrinth of sex and trance in the sacred city, but unlike icarus i tried to keep away from the sun-god and i finally got to my destination in one piece.

i got off the bus in ekamai and then took the skytrain a few stops towards the heart of the sukhumvit monger district to go to my hotel.

i got into an internet cafe, read briefly my emails and then took a quick look at the news. the pope was dead. i thought he might have died while i was with the diamond. the head of the roman catholic church might have reached heaven exactly as i tasted the diamond’s heavenly clit. i suppose it was just a coincidence - a synchronistic coincidence perhaps.

my first priority for the day was buying some pirate software in pantip plaza (thanks to the recommendations of some forum members), i shopped around a bit and the cheapest price i found was 100 b per disc. i bought quite a few applications: pantip plaza is really a gold mine for pirate software. while i was waiting for the discs to be delivered i bought a few porno dvd’s too, just for research purposes.

i went through dozens of porno dvd’s to select the ones i wanted to buy, i was in the middle of pantip plaza with a chronic hard-on from seeing all those sinners having sex on the covers of the dvd’s. the guy who sold the stuff was observing me, with my hard-on, checking the covers and titles at the speed of light; he showed no remorse for selling porno dvd’s on the same day that the pope had reached heaven, for him it seemed to be business as usual, which is understandable to some extent since most probably he wasn’t a christian.

while i drank a few beers in nana plaza i started to think about the night ahead, because in the bangkok monger district you have to think about what you are going to do, it’s not like in pattaya where you don’t really need to think, where you can move almost by inertia from one pussy to the next: here you have to make plans.

in the monger district i can’t take the same approach as in the sacred city: if i walked around the monger district in search of the gems of nature -as i usually do in pattaya- i would end up, more often than not, empty handed in the parking lot at 3 am, expecting a last-minute miracle.

in the monger district the right approach is to take it easy, not to be very ambitious, walk around a bit and whenever you feel like fucking something that is on your way not to give a second thought to it and fuck her. this is not a place to have mystic experiences like pattaya, this is simply a place to get laid, it lacks the spiritual dimension.

i’m not saying there are no gems in the monger district, i have found some in the past myself, i’m just saying that they are so rare that you can’t rely on finding one when you plan your hunting day. they are so rare that in fact you have to plan your hunting day as if there were no gems at all.

after nana plaza i checked soi zero, the sw’s along sukhumvit, soi cowboy and finally the beer garden. i asked for a drink and walked slowly around the place checking the hags till i got to the entrance again, where i sat to see if something interesting would turn up at some point. the quality was really depressing, this is the place where i could find the chicks i usually fuck in pattaya 20 years later, once they have completed the whole cycle of hooking in thailand. not that i was looking for [CodeWord901] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord901), i would have considered anything that looked younger than 30 yo, but my search was unsuccessful.

then i went to sleep.

it was my last night in the land of sex and i had decided to spend it in bangkok just because i had to buy some pirate software and also to take a quick look at the monger ghetto, to double-check that it was still a shithole.

the next day i was taking the bird of paradise back to farangland, so the monger district was in fact just a sort of midway stopover, though this time i would stay in farangland only a few days before continuing my sex odyssey.

if the sukhumvit monger district had been the last stop in my journey i would have flown closer to the sun-god when i left pattaya, i wouldn’t mind to have lost my wings on the way, i would have actually headed to the sun-god over the bay of the sacred city and i would have fallen like icarus.

but there was a next stop in my odyssey, a next duty, an imminent sexpedition into a mysterious and dark land where wild gazelles run freely under the sun-god, away from sex tourists, away from the rest of the world.

I'm utterly unconvinced by the 'mug punters push up prices' argument. If this were the case then, surely, Pattaya prostitutes would be far more expensive than BKK ones? After all, the vast majority of casual punters visiting Thailand get a taxi down to the Benidorm of Asia.

I don’t think the majority of casual punters head to the Thai Benidorm; I think that, in proportion, there are many more newbies, stop-over businessmen, and other types of guys who push up prices in BKK than in Pattaya.

Hi guys,

I am Italian, this is my first report. I traveled many times to Thailand and Vietnam since 1989, so I think my opinion may have some value. This has been my first trip in 3 years, and was from April 1 to April 24, 2005. Here is what I found. Please forgive my language mistakes if any.

Patpong : dead, RIP. More than 50% of the bars that were active in the 80's and 90's are now restaurants, shops and "legitimate" bars. Quality of the girls: from poor to discouraging with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions in the best bars only (Camelot, Queen's Castle II and King's Corner, although here 50% are katoeys, as usual.). Been in Safari, good music, forget the rest. I was in Patpong 4 times in a month, a total waste of time and money.

Soi Cowboy: cheaper, friendlier but very few nice ladies. Long gun still the best, maybe... BJ bars not tested. Pleasant and relaxing atmosphere compared to Patpong, but do not expect quality.

Nana: busy as ever, many police raids (I have witnessed 2 in a month) are discouraging young and foreign workers. Prices are sometimes mad : never , NEVER go to G-spot, they charge 110 baht a beer, crazy! But it is not the only rip-off in Nana. Better sit in an outdoor bar and watch the flow of freelancers move from bar to disco and vice-versa. Plenty of SW in the neighbouring streets, especially Sukhumvit, some attractive but mostly junkies, I believe.

MP: not tested.

Hotel: Ambassador, tower wing, where I go since 1992 or so. Great location, 2 minutes from skytrain, clean, professional staff, quality of breakfast disappointing. Swimming pool, tennis court, gym. Paid 1550 per night on the internet, walk-in rate 2100. But if you go to any travel agent in town you'll pay 1600-1700. Book in advance, it is always full, avoid the main wing, old and smelly.

City transportation: wonderful. BTS (skytrain) and Metro are just great, shame they close at midnight. Traffic almost normal now, as any big city in the world I mean.

So, I often eat in the Arab-terror zone during daylight hours but rarely hang out there at night.

I crept into some African bar called Sabai Sabai last night and it was pretty cool, good music, busy, plus a lot friendlier than I was expecting.

The regulars here tell me most of these guys stay at the Sukhumvit Pinnacle Inn and that girls in this zone charge 500 Baht ST, and 1000 Baht LT. But, after seeing the quality of the girls here I am not suprised (similar to the older/fatter Grace Hotel ladies). They also told me they rarely venture into Sois 4,5,7 as most Thai girls don't want to go with them.

Another empty place is the very cool looking (from the street anyway) new rooftop bar/restaurant on Soi 4, called Sin I think. I haven't visited, but every bar-girl I asked has told me no-one goes there. A shame as I am sure it has a lot of potential.

I've also noticed that, these days, most mongers have learnt the basics of Thai, and yet all of them still say "mai pen rai" to bar-girls. Seeing as 90% of bar-girls have come straight down from Issan then saying "bor pen ngang" would be far more appropriate. Bar-girls seem to prefer the non-Thai speakers in general, the better Thai you speak the more likely they are to think you're an expat, and then you're quickly labelled "Farang Rue Mahk". They prefer us new and naive.

And I've noticed that the excellent Anna's Cafe has opened a branch in that building next to The Landmark, good news for hungry mongers too lazy to ride the BTS. Meanwhile, I've taken to eating almost every single meal, often twice per day, at Wrap-It (4th floor of Emporium). Order the lamb-barbucue-wrap, the potato/cheese "Muncher" things, and a Coke.

68.3/263 * 100% = 25.97% existing disease all STDs

You can also find estimates of existing disease as high as 35% of the population for all STDs.

So about 2/3 of new cases are HPV or Trichomoniasis.

Even more revealing, 95% of prevalence (sometimes reported as incurable STDs) are Herpes and HPV.

Herpes is nasty but not deadly.

HPV infections are not directly deadly, but some increase risk of cervical cancer.
Trichomoniasis is treatable with medication if detected, but it is a protozoan infection, a parasite. Creepy.

I think you are dead on as far as higher rates among p4p providers and customers although I don't know for a fact. Seems like the more partners you have the more likely you are to meet up with one of these little critters.

I do not know if someone can help me. I read in this forum just over a year ago about a park and a nearby Klong where there were streetworkers. THe ones in the Klong were mainly servicing Tuk Tuk drivers while the part was generally Thai customers in nearby hotels. As I remember it, it was an excert from the paper. I went to the park during the day about a year ago, it was a major market, but no action (too early).

I read in this forum just over a year ago about a park where there were streetworkers.Blik2, I assume you are thinking of Suan Lumpini.

Lumpini used to have a lot of SW action after dark, until the police had a clampdown (around the same time as they made the bars close earlier). Most of the girls needed the money for drugs, and many were HIV+. The price used to be 300 Baht.

Also the same thing used to exist around Sanam Luang.

Having stayed many times at the Sheraton and Westin near Soi 19, one of my favorite quickie pickup spots has been the footbridge in front of the Westin. The National Geographic Channel (USA) showed a great documentary (called the Third Gender) this weekend on lady boys in Thailand and in India too. On my last visit, it dawned on me that the Suk road between Asoke and Soi 3 is becoming bar free. The old Clinton plaza and the beer bars have disappeared. The area in front of Ambassador hotel has lost all the massage places and the open food court. In fact, till you reach the Biergarten on Soi 7, there is only Bush Garden bar and Thermae. Then further along nothing till Soi 3.

Looks like the PM is getting his wish. In the process, Bush Garden is doing very well (no competition) and is planning to open up a second level bar.

The Thermae is getting a better crop albeit very few. I guess the girls don't have much choices.

I am not too familiar on the even side Sois as I do not go that side, but from what I could see not much apart from Nana Plaza.

There is a place called Sukhumvit 1 Plaza which I guess must be new. I saw it in Bangkok last week (my first visit to Bangkok).

The place is three stories high with bars on first and second story and a restaurant (I think at top). It is less noisy than Nana's and I liked it.

I found a girl there called Nan Lim at the back in a plce called "Night Night - Joop Joop" and also in a lounge bar (next door) called "Revolution Salsa Bar" (Opened just now).

Any way the place is worth a visit. I have some pictures which I will try and post.

The new airport is not that much farther from the current one. I don't see more than a hundred or so baht more extra. On a good day it takes about 40-45 minutes from Suk and Don Muang about 30 minutes.

Went right by on Saturday. I was coming from Pattaya and going to the airport. When I looked at my watch it was 13:34 going by the new airport at 13:54 I saw the Amari, near Nana from the freeway. I have asked this question to several drivers and they all have said it about the same time except going the opposite direction. So I personally don't think the price will change much if at all with the meter taxi.

I guess the real question is now that the new airport will be closer to Pattaya will the price of your limo service or taxi ride to Pattaya be a little bit cheaper. I would be willing to bet the answer is no.

If I remember it right I counted the number of toll booths and it is aprox 5 from Pattaya to the current airport. My count from Pattaya to the new one is 2. So figure they will add another one right as you get to or leave the airport for a total of 3. Your toll fee should at least be a little cheaper. I know I usually get a limo for 1000 baht + toll fee to Pattaya and 800 baht + toll fee to the airport. The way I see it it should go down a 100-200 baht + maybe 75-100 baht in tolls.

Anyone else have any idea what they plan on charging?

spent ten days in bkk on business. very busy working, but found the time for trying several of the entertainment options that i heard mentioned on this board. (thanks to all posters for the good info!)

I was having dinner with a friend at Gullivers sitting outside and from 6 to 8 PM we saw a stream of girls going in...showing up for work. I recognized a few faces from the Beergarden. On Sukhumvit between Soi 3 - 15 there are a few sidewalk mini bars/restaurants with tables and chairs where people sit down, eat, drink and monger. This is probably a good place for people that like staying out late. You can babrely walk in some areas as the tables take most of the space on the sidewalk. Although clubs/bars close at 1AM (Nana disco at 2AM) you can still drink alcohol on these sidewalk hangouts...

Female inmates face shortage of underwear

So desperate has their plight become that Mrs. Ankhanueng has been forced to urge the public to donate underwear for the inmates.

The prison service is even accepting used underwear, and has to date collected 74,010 items, thanks to the public appeal.

Today Mrs. Ankhanueng, who oversaw the launch of a ‘caravan’ taking underwears to female prisoners across the country, said that the prison service received funding to purchase only 10 sanitary napkins for each female prisoner each month, and only two pairs of underwear each year.

Noting that underwear was a bare necessity, Mrs. Ankhanueng said that the Department of Corrections would attempt to get more government funding this year.

Previous attempts to get higher amounts of money, however, have been met with the riposte that underwear is a ‘luxury item’.

Just came back for LOS on the 23rd of May. The beginning of my trip started in BKK in the early morning of the 1st. Prior to leaving the states I knew I was going to need some work. Thinking that I needed a root canal and after reseaching with my own dentist that my out of pocket expense after insurance coverage for such a procedure would be at less $650 USD decide to have it done at the APC since my brother had been there before. The maximum cost if APC did it was going to be only $350.00 USD and my insurance said they would cover it. Everyone wins! The 2 nights before leaving for the LOS the problem got worse and so did the pain and I nearly didn't make the trip but nevertheless I made it to the appointment. Once in the seat a quick x-ray was taken and viewed on the computer. It was concluded that it was not a root canal but a complete crack tooth to the nerve. It was recommended to be removed and so it was and when tooth was taken out it was exactly that cracked! Total cost plus xray,medicine and a follow up visit for infection 600 baht.

Knowing that in a few years when I retire and my company is going to screw me by not offering Medical coverage for me and planning to live 6-9 months in LOS this was refreshing experience to me!

I had my first time in LOS last yr and let me tell you that you won't have ANY problems sorting out the run of things quickly - the whole scene is v.easy and laid back, esp compared with Brazil.

OK, in relation to your question - let's compare the Biergarten in Soi 7 with GoGo Bars in NEP m/ Soi Cowboy:

1. Girls in beergarden are freelancers. They are not employed by the bar, they come & go (& come!) as they please. In a go-go they are employed by the bar.

2. Girls in beergarden negotiate their own price with you, this all that you pay. In a gogo bar you must pay a bar-fine to the bar & negotiate a price with the girl. I avoided the go-go option, but I think barfines were around 600bht & then LT with the girl 1500bht. A freelancer from the beergarden would be 1500-2kbht depending on performance for LT.

3. In the go-go's down in Koh Samui I found that the girls would be more than happy to go with me when the bar closed for no bar fine. Further, I got with a few of the bar manageress's down there who went with me for free, I always gave them a present of 1500bht though. 1500bht is much less than I would waste on drinks for some stuck up girl in the great wasteland with no guarantee of a happy ending!

4. You sound like it's your first visit to LOS. If you go to Biergarten in Soi7 just take your time and relax, have a good look and you will find a gem. The quantity is large and the selection wide. I met a girl there last year who I would trust before I would trust the Mrs Zim, indoors in the great wasteland!

Had a family emergency but now I want to finish my report from May 29th. As stated, before returning home I decide to stay in Bangkok on the 21st and 22nd of May at Nana Hotel. If you guys get bored with the scene in BKK, I suggest you come to NY for a while and see what the scene is like for us. You will be happy to go back to BKK for P4P. Actually, I do find myself bored sometimes in Bangkok. Last time I was there, I walked from GP to Sukhumvit, then to Darlings. Saw nothing I liked so I left. Walked on Sukhumvit down to Soi 3. I walked to Grace, entered and left. Then on to New Phetburi Rd., entered Cupidy and left. Then walked to Asoke, down Asoke back to Cowboy. Walked through, entered a few bars and left. Got on the subway and went to Poseidon. Picked a girl because I didn't want to waste my last full day in BKK. Did the deed within 40 minutes, then actually slept for the rest of the session. The girl was nice, and we cuddled, but I did really sleep. Went back to my hotel and watched TV for the rest of the night. The trick to keep it fresh is to find other things to do besides mongering. both answers (from Gladiator and Coma) are correct.
The government tries to get rid of nude dancing and sex shows, but at places which have good connections - in other words bribe big - it still runs the usual way. At many places the bouncers warn the dancers as soon as they see police in uniform or just Thais that intend to enter the gogo.
You will notice a short flash light or a horn ring as a warning sign for the girls.
In fact, it's no big deal and doesn't disturb the usual business.

First time in Thailand, stayed in Nana Hotel central to all the entertainment venues.
Angels disco right there in the Hotel and the Nana beer bar at the front with lovely girls working only BT 350 bar fine.

If you do not want to pay bar fine then during the day you see freelancers hanging around the Nana parking lot.

I manage to pick up a freelancer on Sukhuvmit Road close to Beer Garden ST only Bt600.

But be extra careful when the sales person puts the SIM in your phone! They sometimes take the new card out of the original box and without you seeing it, replace it with a defective one or somethinmg which has some problem.

That's a pretty tight layover to do anything in downtown Bangkok. I'd say you need to allow at least 1 hour travel in each direction, and at least 1 hour back in Bangkok airport, so that gives you just an hour if everything goes like clockwork. It's probably doable if BOTH of your flights are Domestic flights within Thailand, but NOT if one or both of your flights are international flights because you need to allow for customs, and/or exit taxes, and added security on international flights.

If you hurry you could make it to Eden in 30 minutes with a taxi and 30 minutes back. So you could have 1 hr with a girl and you would still have a little time left over. The only problem is that Eden would likely be pretty busy at that time. So you might go there and you will not be able to be serviced. Whenever I have gone to and from the airport to Nana plaza maximum travel time has always been only 20-30 minutes depending on the traffic. Also if you run to immigration you should be outside the airport easy 20 minutes after your plane lands......I landed in BKK at 150pm last time and I was at Nana Hotel by 230. Coma named a few of the "other places". Don't know if you will like Ratchada Soi 4, very crowded and noisy clubs. Hard to move and talk. Speaking Thai is indeed of great help but not necessary since you will most likely run into MP girls. But the discos at Ratchada are worth a look, even though you often got to pay a bit more to get laid.

First have a look at Thong Lor. There is a place at Soi 8 called "SpiderWitch" or something like that - don't remember the exact name. They used to have a dancing contest and many cuties around, mostly freelancers. Give it a shot.

there are several ways to get to Khao San, a taxi is definitely the most convienient.

You could also take the BTS to Thaksin Bridge and jump on the ferry to Phra-A-Thit pier. From there you can walk or take bus no. 3. Instead of the ferry you could also take ordinary bus no. 15.

From Sukhumvit you might want to take ordinary bus no. 2. It will pass WTC, Pratunam, Phantip Plaza on it's way to Ratchadamnoen Klang Rd.

Or use the subway and exit at Chatuchak, then change to ordinary bus no. 39 or aircon bus no. 3, 9, 39 or 44.

Another way would be BTS to Victory monument and then ordinary bus no. 59 or aircon bus no. 3.

But the most useful is without question aircon bus no. 11. It goes from Sukhumvit, Phetburi Rd, Pratunam to Ratchadamnoen Klang.

There are hundreds of ways to reach a target in BKK, it all depends where you stay and how much hassle you are willing to take.

If you are staying on Sukhumvit there is another option to Khaosan Road that is viable before 7:00pm or so. You can take one of the klong taxis on Klong San Saep from a number of piers down the odd numbered sois along Suk. to the end of the line which is Banglampu pier; Khaosan Road is about a five minute walk from there.
The klong taxis are kind of a cool way to get around during the day and they're very cheap. Just be careful not to fall in the water.

I am not familiary with Bangkok, but in beijing you can quickly get a ELISA, or similar test, which can provide results in a few minutes, from one of the clinics in town - however i am not aware of any home kits that can do this. However even if ELISA shows positive, you will still need a further test, possibly a p24 antigen test to really make sure - this is normally not quick and costs a reasonable amount of money - that test is almost certainly not available as a home kit.

I am not an expert in HIV, but i thought the typical initial symptoms was related to a low immune system - thus you start getting sick all the time - but then i am not an expert. See a clinic or doctor as soon as possible.

The distribution of wealth is very skewed compared to Europe or America, but the country is loaded with natural resources, cheap labor, and a large population of buyers. There is a fairly large class of elite Thai families mainly centered in Bangkok that pretty much run everything and they are very rich even by european standards. CB is right, the sons and daughters of these families do go to europe for the weekend to shop.
I belong to one of the sports clubs in BKK (the one with the golf course and race track you can see from the BTS at Ratchadamri) and am sometimes blown away by just how rich some of these people are. I tend to think that a lot of mongers wander around Bangkok thinking that with a few bucks in their pocket they own the place; a mistake.
I guess the point I'm making is that there are a lot of really pretty Thai girls who have a lot more money and a better education than you do. (Suizo, I don't mean you personally, just us mongers in general). I've found that these girls aren't necessarily unapproachable; its just a whole different ballgame than picking up a chick at the Biergarten.

I have been in and out of Brasil and Thailand for so many years. Both countries have a very small elite class that run the whole economy of the country. I read somewhere that in the case of Brasil and Thailand that 5% of the population controls more than 85% of national wealth. So you get the ideas of how rich these bastards are. We all from a more equal society we rarely see the really rich people in the same extend as in these 3rd world countries like Thailand, Brazil, and of course other latin American and south and southeast Asian sountries all have the same wealth distribution.

In Thailand a few families own up to half of majore industries. Of course including the Taksin family and of course the king's family with lots of ancestral stolen real estate properties make them the richest family and they do not need to pay tax only embezzle tax and public funds also make them the richest family without question.

Thai people are still not very mentally or spiritually evolved. They still worship and see king and royals like gods. They still crawl like dogs in front of them when they see them. Thai people still do not reason and think very well. They somehow have a common conscious which bestowed to them by their institutions and systems in a way of brainwashing and they do not have too much individual and independant thinking and reasoning ability as a result. These with clear consious of whats is going on in this country either in jail, or abroad, exile, or keeping mouth shut.

I am sure that the heirachy, anarchy, monarchy ect in Thailand want to try hard to continue keep the masses stupid and tame so they can continue to manipulate the ordinary masses and extract all the wealth of the nation into their own pockets.

But on the other hands because the masses are so stupid and low conscious that so many girls will sell body to make a quick living. Just returned from my first trip to Bangkok. I visited some of the gogo bars in Patpong, where one would have to look hard for a girl below a 8! Typically the countries which have a far worst distribution of income are all republics, actually the last time I saw some wealth distribution numbers the US was not that much more advanced that Thailand. (The income distribution numbers are a lot better I must admit)

If anything the Thai Royal Family may have a moderating affect. If you want a real basket case go to Manila. That place makes me weep everything I go there, the people are so good and try so hard, but the system keeps them down.

So, I see hope in Thailand and some form of improvement, while I see hopelessness is places like Phillipines, Russia, <insert South American repulic here> & <insert African republic here>.

But then I am english and I love my queen, so I may be biased.

I passed through Bangkok last week (en route for Jakarta - see separate posting) and decided to interrupt my trip for the weekend. After all, I hadn't been to LoS for more than six years. Armed with some of the postings from the thread (thanks, guys!) I explored the Sukhumvit neighbourhood.

I would first have to say that Eden Club was a bit of a disappointment. They did't give me a bad service, I don't mean, but the problem was perhaps that I'd got my expectations too high after reading a bunch of good things about the place. Summing up, my 4,000 baht were certainly not wasted, but I decided to concentrate thereafter on girls that were likely to give a slightly more personallised service.

As for that, my best finds were in Soi Cowboy. Nana Plaza looks a bit run down these days, and owing to the stricter rules their shows have of course become much less daring. These days I'd say you find much better girls in the outdoor bars around Nana (especially on Soi 4) than within the compound. I ran into several specimens that I'd have loved to know better (remember, I had less than three days) just by chatting away in the bars, whereas I couldn't be bothered to spend much time in the gogo bars of the Plaza.

But Soi Cowboy was different. Several places still operate toplessly (apparently they've got some nerve...) and they've got a great variety in their selection of girls. Personally I don't much like ultra-slim women with no boobs and no English speaking ability. In the bars of Cowboy I ran into several plump, busty, witty conversationalists (admittedly waitresses rather than dancers) who were thrilled to be chosen in preference over their more clasically-beautiful colleagues. I spent nights with two such girls and they provided the best service I have had from working girls for a long time. One of them even started caressing me each time I woke up during the night (did't she sleep at all??) on the odd chance that "the master of the bed" wanted some fresh sex. A far cry from the "oh boy, let me sleep" attitude that I've become used to - at home, and with pros... ;-)
