I did a google and found "Action Travel", which offers the service for 2500 PP. Is that a fair price?
If not can anyone recommend a service?

I have used Action Travel many time coming form Manila they provide great service. I never had any issues, depending on your flight arrival time you might want to try Swagman bus / van service. http://www.swaggy.com/fly-the-bus/. They are alot cheaper and will drop you off at you hotel.

I was departing AC for NAIA and I saw the receptionist give the driver p2000 +, I could not quite tell the exact amount.
Although I arranged for this transport well in advanced, either there were no hotel drivers available or someone did not put my request through and it was done at the last minute.

My arrival is always near or past midnight at NAIA. Lately my plan is has been have a local girl check in for me at my hotel and 'wait me' in the room. Then I take the swag man bus the next day for 600 pesos if Angeles is my next destination. That has worked the last 6 visits with 2 diff girls. Both were girls I had never met in person so it was kind of a gamble but it worked out so I repeated the process. So far I'm 2 for 2 in girls working out. I got to know them pretty well in cam chats before hand. I am sure it won't always work out. The hotel lets the girl check in as long as you pay in advance and notify them of her name.
The one of the girls, on my third time meeting her there, had come from Leyte after the typhoon and all of her I'd's were gone. So she was cooling her heels in the hotel lobby for like 6 hours when my plane landed at Manila airport and texted her. So I convinced the clerk to let the poor girl just check in. Those pinay have alot of patience I have to hand them that.
The times I went direct from NAIA to AC upon late night arrival before that I was always able to get a random taxi to agree to all inclusive for under 3000 with little effort.

It was 96 p by the meter. Arrived terminal 3 at 5:10. So 326 pesos (US$7.25) from my hotel in AC to the airport in Manila. 2 hours 40 minutes. My Cebu Pacific to Bangkok doesn't leave until 9:45.

Thanks for the info. I will do this on the way from and to Terminal 1.Be careful with allowing travel time. The EDSA traffic is really bad these days, jams starting at 5:30 AM and unpredictable. No way of avoiding EDSA unless worse jams are being sought out. Infrastructure truly sucks.
Every time I arrived NAIA T3 at early morning, I always took free shuttle to Resort World Manila (every hour from T3). Because I don't like to take bus at early morning, so I play for a while in RWM, then take cab to Pasay. In my experience those cabs are by meter, only 80 to 90 pesos to 5 Star terminal in Pasay. I think that can avoid harassing with some bad airport taxi. But when I got on bus at am 8 or 9, it took 2 and half hours arriving DAU. I think it's not bad, after sleeping on bus for a while, I can check in directly and have fun there.

I arrive at the bus station in Pasay and I make my way to the bus, but was stopped by the guard and she said I must have a ticket to board the bus. I told her don't we just pay the conductor? She said no you must go to ticket window and wait. The line was long and slow and it was a hot day. I finally get my ticket and take a seat and waited about 45 mins for my bus to arrive. I'm about 6 ft 6 so I need that seat right behind the driver so I tried to hurry and board, but was stopped again by the guard and was told to drop my carry on bag in the luggage compartment on the side of the bus. By the time I do the seats near the front are taken, so I make my way to the back seat of the bus and grab the middle seat. We wait and wait til the bus full up to capacity and we are squeezed in like sardines then off we go through all the congested traffic of manila. There must have been 1 or 2 empty seats because we stopped to pick up new passengers some mongers swear the buses do not do this. I complain to the conductor about the aircon not cold enough so he looks above and he noticed some vents are closed and some open. The ones that were open was hitting directly on a pinoy guy, his wife and kid. When the conductor walked away I see the pinoy guy turn ALL the vents on him and his family. So I reach up and turn the 2 the conductor gave me, back towards me. He said some crazy shit to me, I said some crazy shit back to him. And he didn't touch them again. We get to Dau station but they don't announce it and it looked different or we came into it from another direction. I didn see anyone get off so I stayed seated til we pulled off out of the station then I noticed the outside area and told the driver to STOP let me out here. They did and I caught and trike to my hotel from there. After all that I decide to ride the hotel car in Sept trip and get to A. C. With less problems. Like they say why. M. M. V.

Forget Action Travel, they are hopeless. Use a Hotel car from your destination Hotel in AC. Start your experience happy & relaxed. Tolls are included. Arriving impatient is understandable but will get you nowhere fast in the Philippines. Smile & be patient, reap rewards.
AV.I'll put another vote of support for Action Travel. Have used them 5-6 times now for various MNL. A / see, A / see to Makati, Makati A / see. They are my transport people, have their driver's number in my phone, always ready on arrival and on delays.
Sometimes Mr E brings it on himself. Anyhoo I just booked my next trip to the PI and I use Mr E's method of transportation to AC as well. I've done it before and it is very convenient but when you arrive very early like 5 in the morning the trip is even better. I'll walk out of the airport and go upstairs for the white cabs dropping off.
I think it was 140 p last time to Pasay and the Victory Liner. Inside their little terminal (away from the street) it's easy to navigate a bus to Dua, then from Dua to AC. Last time the total cost was 450 p only because I tip, I gave the first taxi driver 200 p, the bus 150 p, and the trike 100 p. The trip took 2 hours and it's a nice ride and at the hotel around 9 am. AV.Hahaha, I crack me up to. Nobody said we can't afford a car service, we said we take the bus because we want to. I said I take it very early when there's no traffic and the temperature is cool. I enjoy the bus experience at this time of day. I like talking with filipino people and using all modes of transportation.
In the early morning the bus is about a half an hour slower than a car and it's a fun experience for a simple person. I like the experience of a car service too, A good quick bus service, A good trike ride and traveling by boat whether it be a smallish boat to Puerto Galera or a big slow ferry to Bantayan, a Supercat to Bohol. I enjoy the experiences of all these modes of travel, regardless of how much I save or lose.
The last time I was in the PI (May) I used a cab from the airport to get to Makati. I hope this also cracks you up. A few days later I took a taxi to AC which is also quite funny. A week later on my return to Makati I took a Pacific Breeze car.
My PI trip in 2012 when I took the early morning bus barfines on Perimeter road were 1200 p so the enjoyable adventure of using the bus almost paid for 2 Perimeter barfines. I must say that saving 2000 p was gratifying and I was rewarded in pussy. You see why I crack myself up now right?

I guess it all depends on your point of view. If I were an Australian who went their often I could probably handle it. Or a 20 something euro backpacker type on my grand tour of greater southeast Asia on a ramen noodle budget.

When it finally did leave it was only half full so the driver spent the entire portion before getting to the EDSA trolling for every straggler on the side of the road in attempt to fill the bus which made the route much longer than it needed to be. Finally arriving in Dau then dealing with the overpriced obnoxious trike drivers of AC and the unwanted porters trying to grab my bag fishing for a tip. Maybe things have changed since then and maybe its a smoother trip now I don't know. Maybe I just picked the wrong day.
I take the buses, white vans, supercats, whatever in the provinces and I don't mind it. (Don't ever use a Rorobus!) But something about Manila metro just wears me out and I want to get as little of it as possible. If some of you guys actually LIVE there then God give you strength you are a different breed of cat than I am. That entire metro area is a stinking cesspool and I have less patience for beggars and scammers with each subsequent visit.
So I always take either a taxi with negotiated pre determined rate, a private car arranged by the hotel, or if the timing is right, the 600 peso Swagman bus which I have used most often which drops me off at my AC hotel of choice. AC to Manila is always a Hotel arranged private taxi for the early morning Delta flight to go home.

How about a story? I did ride the Five Star bus from Dau to Cubao station with a girl. The air-con bus ride was rather enjoyable, one hour and fifteen minutes and we were there. She went to visit family during the day and was back in the hotel with me during the night. During my alone hours I visited SM North and Tri-Noma malls. It was a nice 2 day break from AC and I still got my poon at night. The bus ride back to Dau was the same, very pleasant.
A week later I stayed near the Mall of Asia for a few days before returning home. I didn't want to fight the traffic on departure day. Had another girl that happened to be in Cubao get on the Victory Liner bus in Cubao to Pasay station to spend the night before departure day with me. Turns out the short bus ride took over 2 hours in the afternoon! It makes me think twice now if I would want to ride the bus from Pasay to Dau upon arrival in the next few weeks, especially if it is after 10 PM. I do travel with a couple large luggage. I bring one bag of gentle used children's clothing to give away. I find it scores a few extra points with the girls. Any thoughts on using the taxi after 10 Pm from Terminal 1 to Pasay station to Dau and triking to the hotel?
BTW, I am not that cheap, in AC I like to stay in clean budget hotel to the tune of <$25 a night. This allows me to tip a few dollars a day to the hotel staff and a bigger tip to the BG and everyone is happy.

With Philippines, the country fails badly on infrastructure; law & order.
The EDSA road between Pasay in Manila near airport and the North Luzon Highway requires careful planning as the traffic can be unpredictably horrendous, and very serious if one is catching a flight. Recently, while travelling northbound from Pasay to Angeles at 5:30 AM on Saturday morning, I noticed the southbound EDSA was at a standstill for about 2 miles. Best advice: do not leave AC on the same day as your flight, otherwise give many, many hours leeway for travel time. Best stay in the Manila area, near airport overnight.
One more thing, make sure you are updated on the terminal at NAIA from which you are flying.
The airport is shuffling flights from terminal 1 to terminal 3 and issued tickets may quote the wrong terminal. Double check with the airline. Get it wrong and one can get caught in standstill traffic on the inter-terminal airport road. There is also no information outside terminal 3 on the airlines using the terminal. Do not rely on the NAIA website, that also has several errors. The new terminal 3 is very, very crowded with most people squatting on the floor. Go to upper level before check in to get away from the heaving crowd. Once you get through passport control, things are quieter. But only a few small eating facilities are available.

The event is called Soirée Beaujolais, and it's quite an elegant affair, held at the Manila Hotel on Roxas. I was staying at the Fairmont in Makati, and th distance between the two venues is slightly less than 10 Kms. The trip via Uber car took me an hour and ten minutes. By the time I actually got to the event I was so wrung out that I could barely enjoy it.
Unless one is fortunate enough to be able to restrict his movements to an area of about two square kilometers within Makati, or perhaps Ortigas, Manila is, for me, a thoroughly unlivable city. There are, to be sure, acceptable areas, but the insufficient, poorly maintained infrastructure, the lack of effective, comfortable public transport and a communications system that's among the worst in the world makes the place undesirable.
Just to reinforce the point made above, there's evidently an international scale that measures the extent to which any given country has become a "failed state. " The index is applied to all, or at least to most countries in the world, and results are compiled annually, though I don't remember the organization that compiles the data. The Philippines keeps sliding further downward on the scale year by year, as summarized in an Op Ed column in today's "Inquirer. " So, evidently there's at least some empirical evidence to substantiate my contention that things just get worse.

I did the bustrip in June. It is ok with me.
Two hints:
As an arrival in NAIA go one level up and catch a metered taxi in the departure area. Taxi to pasay, 5 Star 150 php. 5 Star bus Pasay-Dau (AC) 150 php, Trike to hotel (hard negotiation) 100 php.
Way back:
No problem to get a trike to DAU for 100 php. Stay in the bus to pasay till you are in the bus depot. I was urged to leave the bus earlier because "at this stop you get the cheapest taxis to airport. Bla bla".
I guess the staff in the bus is linked to the taxis outside. I went out the bus, the bus was leaving. The taxidriver strated at 900 php and with very hard negotiation I got it for 300 php.
Compared with a 2500 for a direct airport transfer it's a bargain. And almost fast / slow as a private Taxi and comfortable enough for me.
In December I will be back in AC and will choose the same way to go there.

Load wasted was in excess of 300 php. If there was a one-way plane back to USA in front of my house last night, I would have left all of my things here, got on it, and never returned. The phone service was beyond inexcusable and lower than pi$$ poor.
And tomorrow I get to travel to the world class city of Manila. I'm so looking forward to it.

I'm so looking forward to it.You remind me of a situation I experienced last week, when I had to get something done with my bank in the USA I was in Davao, and using Skype to call the United States. Even Skype Hugh requires a reasonable wifi or cell signal. I could not sustain a single call for longer than 10 minutes without the wifi and / or cell strength ebbing suddenly with the result that the calls were inevitably cut off. Eventually, I just gave up and figured I'd wait until I got to the Fairmont in Makati which maintains its own base station and has a consistently strong, stable wifi.
There's not a single aspect of any infrastructure here that comes close to meeting any reasonable international standard.

I use it for business conference calls all over the world. Just need one guy on the other end with an iPhone who puts the call on speaker. Wifi doesn't have to be perfect.

GE.GE, you are totally correct. The Philippines is consistently in the bottom 30% of all countries surveyed in the latest World Bank business indices, Transparency International indices and OECD economy indices. In fact there are a large number of countries in Africa that rank better.

In regards to traffic, those times can be pretty normal at different times of the day or night. I don't think anything we say or do is going to change that anytime soon. You either avoid traveling those routes at those times or you plan around it by leaving earlier. It's the Philippines.

Between Dau and Fields I just hand them 80 when I get out. I don't do all of the negotiating beforehand. If they have something to say about it I just keep walking and tell them this isn't my first time.
I met a monger at the bus station last time I was going and taught him the ropes. Wasn't his first time going to AC, but his first time taking the bus. He had 2 big ass suitcases. I told him that because of those bags it is best for him to give the driver 100. I'm not sure how that turned out or if the bags even fit the trike for that matter.
Same with taxis in Manila. I generally know the price to get where I am going. If I see he has a hot meter then I just give him the amount I know it is supposed to be and tell him nice try. It pays to have change in situations like these.

My girlfriend lives about 20 minutes from Fields and we paid 120 for that ride. Between Dau and Fields I just hand them 80 when I get out. I don't do all of the negotiating beforehand. If they have something to say about it I just keep walking and tell them this isn't my first time.
I met a monger at the bus station last time I was going and taught him the ropes. Wasn't his first time going to AC, but his first time taking the bus. He had 2 big ass suitcases. I told him that because of those bags it is best for him to give the driver 100. I'm not sure how that turned out or if the bags even fit the trike for that matter.
Same with taxis in Manila. I generally know the price to get where I am going. If I see he has a hot meter then I just give him the amount I know it is supposed to be and tell him nice try. It pays to have change in situations like these.To Mr E.
I don't know why anyone need to bring 2 suit case to AC I always just carry a small bag or back pack only, I paid just 50 p last time from the check point to Dau stations, I know most trike guy want 100 p I just start walking price will drop, from Manila I take the P Rabbit from Avendia bus stations 95 p they first stop at Dau station and then to AC bus stations if you ask the driver nicely he will stop at the corner of MacArthur and Field and you can walk to hotel from there.

After using an Android for 2 years now I've soured on Apple's mobile; the walled garden is a pain in the butt. Downloading video files from dropbox or google's gdrive is a multi-step process that isn't intuitive at all. You can't use bluetooth to transfer a file from an iPhone to a Mac - WTF?!? Really. WTF! Want to find the size of the mp4 file you want to upload? (Important to know when your "unlimited" data plan is in fact limited.) Good luck doing that natively. Not having a sdcard slot or the ability to swap a battery are major shortcomings. You get used to LTE's speed and you find your battery is drained. I will say something nice: the iPhone's "burst" feature for the camera nicely captures action shots - available from IOS 7. If I were you I'd have it jailbroken and then go to https://cydia.saurik.com/. Don't upgrade to IOS 8.1.1 if you intend to do so.

The "OT shit" is often issues relevant to the actual situation "on the ground" in PI (although seemingly not directly relevant to the stated mission of the ISG forum). But if it is of interest to the residents and frequent visitors, then the "OT shit" continues for some time. When this occurs, those who are not in the preceding category of members, or are just disinterested in the topic, feel irritated by the ongoing posts. That's life!
And shifting the OT to 'General Information' or similar does not work, even though there may be a post advising of the shift. Why? Laziness or simply because they are responding to a specific or original post and have not read (yet) the post notifying the shift.

Then I was in a position to ask a few targeted questions & contribute a few comments / experiences. Regulars just ask newbies to make that minimal initial effort before demanding everything handed to them on a platter.
Regulars here are often generously helpful to those who demonstrate they have made an effort to help themselves. It's human nature.
Sex is so easy to get & so cheap, it doesn't require obsessive anal focus on just that at all times. Do a little leg work, use a little manners, be surprised.

MMSorry to hear about your attack. I just returned from a 14 day trip, arrived on Friday the 14th. One thing I never do is stop on the street and check my cell in public.
In my 14 days I had street kids approach me around ten times, but I just waved them off and kept walking and they did not follow. I stayed at the Pacific Breezed and walked almost 90% of the time. I also had ZERO problems with any ladyboys approaching me.

MMI've recently arrived to the Philippines and Angeles City. Concerning safety I get a feeling that AC and the Philippines are more comparable to Central America than to South East Asia.

BDMy two cents is that in comparison to what you find in other bars. The girls at ABC are not great lookers. I am surprised since everything else at ABC Hotel is the best in AC.
3000 for short time is also on the expensive site! Over the years I enjoyed talking to the ABC girls and enjoyed a good laugh or two but when it comes to picking up some short time entertainment I just go next door to Pony Tails. I have heard of guys getting shot for not handing over a watch or a chain in Medellin, Colombia.
I also like to go to El Salvador and muggings are a daily threat to locals and tourist alike, it's probably more dangerous there.
In Tijuana they do, "choke outs" at all times of day or night, easier during the late night / early morning hours.
It's more than just a PI problem. Lessen your exposure to this pressure by not wearing jewelry, being careful w / iPhones (hold them tight when using), not counting money in public, being aware of who's nearby, not getting too smashed, never carry credit cards or your passport w / you (copy passport).
There are a lot of things that one can do. If you want to go the extra mile (I do) then tan up before you go. Be in good physical shape, start working out twice a week. These street rats are definitely looking for the easiest prey so don't be that.
Lastly if you're still paranoid about this issue go to locales known to be the safest. Maybe places like Phuket w/ a robust tourist scene w/ mongering readily available too or Burgos Street in Makati. I never saw any roving groups of kids or extreme low lifes while I was in Makati. I stayed at St Regis so I was a couple hundred feet from Burgos and a bunch of great bars full of top line pussy. At night the street fills up w / FLs and great deals can be had w / great looking ladies. So there are plenty of ways to lessen the threat of street rat muggings.

My main girl in PI is from AC. I have been dealing with her over 3 years. She has never been out of AC. I wanted to take her to Bohol next February but due to medical reasons she does not want to come and told me to find someone else to take. (So I will be going with my girl in Manila.) She has never asked me for anything. Over the 3 years I have given her maybe 5000 pesos, and 2000 of those were just last month.
I finally went to her house. We left SM Clark in the jeepney (8. 50 pesos each). On the way she had to stop by the store to buy some organic vinegar that helps her with her stomach (some kind of gastro medical condition). We went to the grocery store inside of Nepo mall in downtown AC. That was my first time ever leaving the Fields / Clark area and it was nothing pretty! Pollution and traffic. Going to Nepo really opened my eyes on the true prices of things in PI. Let's just say if you are giving chicks 2000 and 3000 pesos for a session then you are getting ripped off. I think my girl said she pays 2000/ month to rent her house. Anyway, she got the vinegar which was about 250 pesos. When we got to the checkout counter there was a guy in front of us buying the same damn vinegar. He said it helps with his cough. (Later on in the day a group that I am in on fb back in the States was talking about the same damn vinegar.) Before this day I had never even heard of the stuff and in one day I hear of it out of the blue 3 times from different sources. I gave her 1000 pesos to buy the vinegar. She tried to give me the change back. I told her to keep it.
We went around the mall and she was looking for a dress to buy with the money. We went into several stores and saw some nice ass dresses, but when they told her the price of 600 pesos she was like that is too much and we were out the door. I saw clothes for like 100 and 200 pesos. I was thinking damn if you gave some chick 2000 pesos on an overnight then she could go on a serious shopping spree. Even at Pizza Hut they had some kind of deal: 2 slices of pizza and a drink for 50 pesos. We left the mall empty handed and she tracked down her cousins husband who has the nicest trike I have ever seen.
He stopped us by a pizza place where my girl bought 3 pizzas for 200 pesos for her 2 kids (15 year old daughter & 8 year old son who actually works as a house boy), nephews, nieces, and cousins. Then we went to the house. I was shocked to find out that nobody I met in her neighborhood spoke English. Here I was thinking that everyone in the Philippines spoke English, but none of her family or neighbors did. I had fun playing with the kids and as it started to get dark we decided to head back to the hotel. We went to the main street to get a jeepney but each one that passed were already full. I told her F that, let's get a trike. She said it was going to be about 120 in the trike.
I sat inside holding her purse and my girl sat on the bike. Right before turning on Perimeter we were stopped in front of a grocery store. A girl holding a baby came up to me begging. I tried to hand her my girl's entire purse, but she would not take it. She kept her hand out for money. I told her to go around and ask my girl because she had all the money. She refused. Later I asked my girl why she would not take the purse or ask her for money. She said because I am a foreigner. They are not going to beg from a local.
Later that night my girl said she wanted to go see what the gogos are like. I'm not a gogo guy. I told her how boring they are to me, but what the hell for her experience. We went to La Bamba because my brother had recommended it. He said the night before that he had gone and had a ball and met some guys who kept buying him drinks and wanted him to hang out and bar hop with them. There were some nice girls in there. I pointed out to my girl the ones I liked the best and she told me which ones she thought were the best. She asked me why the girls were not dancing, but just standing on stage rocking to the music. I told her that I didn't know and to ask the waitress. She asked, but the waitress just blew her off. I was falling asleep in the gogo so my girl said we could go back to the room.
The next day before she left I gave her 1000 pesos. I had to get ready to go back to Thailand.

Personally upon arrival I put everything into the hotel safe and carry P2,000 in small notes, 2 x P500 in left pocket, collection of smaller in the right. If going out for a BF, I will add that to the left pocket.
I've also developed a death stare which I keep for the street kids. So far, they have stayed away.
Oh, and of course, I have clothes which I only wear in Pi. I have the set I fly in / out with, basic clothes for work and then after hours old shirts, old shorts, look daggy.
Also, worth noting I don't get rolling drunk if I am out and abut. Keep that for private house.

I've recently arrived to the Philippines and Angeles City. Concerning safety I get a feeling that AC and the Philippines are more comparable to Central America than to South East Asia.
Where it's located. Also the appearance of local individuals looks almost like they had a mother from South East Asia but a Latino father, or at least a Latino grandfather.

Attackers are put off if a person is muttering or talking to themselves when walking alone.
I always hold to NOT running in a quiet area but walking briskly is OK.

Everyone is different some love AC and some hate this shit hole, that is the same for Korean I have a friend that is from US a Korean born 40 yr old I told him about AC and he when there last yr and hate it only stay one night and cannot wait to get the hell out and fly to Bangkok and have a great time, so you need to go yourself and find your own favorite bar don't let other tell you be your own judge.

I have never had a Korean or anyone else block or interfere with me getting laid. I think it is their attitude people are complaining about. But many other nationalities have poor attitudes and superiority complexes which others find offensive.

IMHO demanding a line up is not only rude, but can sometimes (temporarily at least) kill the mood in the bar. With one exception, a few times that it's happened when I was there even the girl (s) I was sitting with had to join. I have yet to encounter a bar girl who's told me they like line ups and those who don't like Asian men find it particularly demeaning; especially if they are chosen as most bars require them to sit with that customer for at least one LD.
And a few times the line-up boys just stared, said no thanks, and walked out of the bar in their big group.
This gets a bit cultural since we see Western guys who sometimes buy every gal a drink. That kills the mood too. Unless you are the guy buying the drinks.

I am Dutch.
Nice about Philippines is they let you do your own thing as long as you respect them.
Throwing a lot of money, being drunk, wearing expensive cameras in poor areas, being angry or loud or hasty and dressed like clowns is not considered as giving respect.
I've been on places (pinoy bars pinoy hotels) most of you will hate or find dangerous.
But I am just friendly and humble and Pinoy take care of me even if I gut drunk between them. Sometimes I even forget I HAVE money with me or forget where I am.
Koreans drive up prices (not all) like the American do in Mexico (Ixtapa) - but not all do.
A lot of US (or Australians. I don't see the difference) are drunk and loud.
Most of the times its best for me to avoid such tourists because they excpect others are polite for the money they bring in.
But you should pay with a smile and with respect.
I stay away from places like Ermita and Borocai (and now also Cebu Maxilon Ave) just because foreigners (indeed many Koreans) killed the pinoy culture there.
Even in the Fields you will taste the local Pinoy culture.
So the one who run away after a day from AC should ask where they run for.

Note: These reports are from my experiences last month. I am sorry it took so long to post. I've just been swamped with work since I got back from my Asia trip. Also preparing for the holidays and my next trip to Pattaya at the end of the month. : the.
I arrived at Manila airport very early in the morning form Shanghai. It must have been 5 AM or so. Arranged for a taxi to AC through Margarita Station as per the suggestions on this forum. I thought the price is pretty steep, 2800 pesos, especially compared to the 1000 Baht or so you'the pay for airport transfer to Pattaya. However, the driver was great and we made it to the hotel without any hitches. Me taking in the sights and getting some background form the driver.
I booked a room at Penthouse hotel, 3 nights for $321. Again this is steep compared to Patts, but the hotel is very, very nice. Room was beautiful: modern and very new furnishings. The bed was super comfortable. The bathroom is separated from the rest of the room by glass walls. I knew this when I made the reservation and was worried that you could see the toilet form the bed (I. E. My overnight guest could watch me take my morning dump. LOL). But the bathroom is designed so that the toilet and showers are separated and there is no direct view from the rest of the room. There is a Jacuzzi in the room too and you can see it from the bed (unfortunately I never got around to using it). The pool on the top floor is nice and there is a great view form up there (I think it is the tallest building in the area), though the pool itself is pretty small. Just good for a dip and not good for any real exercise. Service was great. The staff were attentive and helpful as well. They always called up to the room when the girl left to check if everything was OK. And they really took care of me when I had a little health issue (more on that later on).
I had a quick breakfast poolside and then took a long nap to recharge after my flight. I woke up around 1 PM and headed out to explore. Fields avenue is a real dump. Reminded me of Tijuana or Rosarito. I was in dire need for coffee (Starbucks! And headed across the highway to the big shopping mall. The mall is nice. It was good to be surrounded by happy Filipino faces and by all the cute girls walking around. And it was nice to be able to communicate with the people. IU had been in China for 3 weeks and it is so difficult there to get even the most basic things done sometimes. I wandered around for a while and then got a very good haircut at the sports barbers (I think this was the name). Great job and only 200 pesos! I bought a sim card and charged up my phone at Globe telecom. I flirted very heavily with one of the girls working there. She was cute and seemed interested, we exchanged FB and viber contacts. Filipinas are very friendly and sweet and I can see that this is a great country for freebies. But I never got around to contacting this girl so many girls so little time in the PI!
I left the mall at around 5 and headed back to my hotel. I made the mistake of crossing back to fields using the dirt lot and not the crosswalk. Mistake as the poor little homeless kids accosted me and bugged me to death. I was able to shoo them away without much trouble but it was kind of an uncomfortable experience.
I got back to fields and discovered the walking street (I still needed to get my geography down). Walked around for a little while to get the lay of the land. The bars were just opening and the girls getting ready for the night. "Hello Sir come to our bar!" (I love hearing Filipinas say sir it is very sweet and beguiling). I saw one very cute girl siting on a stool at the cavernous bad right next door to Pharaoh. I tried to chat her up but she seemed kind of shy. I was not getting a good vibe from her so I moved on.
I went back to the hotel to send a few emails and to shower and change. It was about 8 by the time I got back down to Walking street for my bar hop. I was armed with a list of bars that Natty Bumpo mentioned in his seminal reports (no pun intended. LOL). I tried Tao and Kings Landing but the lineup was so bad in both places that I did not even stay for a drink.

After Jacelyn left I went back to the hotel and relaxed for a while at the pool. Then I went back to the mall to have my teeth cleaned. The lady dentist was very nice and did the thorough job. Good day to all,
I want to share on my frequent experiences in Fields.
I visit Fields almost 3 -4 times a day due to the fact that it is a place where we can leave our hectic schedule and have too much fun during our stay in Fields. As usual, the first day of my trip will be hopping around the big clubs packed with uncountable ladies which you can't remember any of them after you walked out of each club. Doll house & Crystal palace are the first club I will visit for the first night.
Do's.
1) The trick to enter such big clubs is to have a regular Waitress, whom I always tip before I start the party. The reason is simple, to give her simple instruction and making sure she watch the bill for us while we are having fun in the club. In some cases, each drink ordered will be issued to your Bill basket as you treat your ladies or buying drinks for yourself. There are instances where some* will try to put more bill tickets and claim that the drinks are ordered by you. It maybe a small amount to us. But, this trick works for me. Its up to you to use it.
2) Go to Clubs early; have a good dinner about 6 pm and you probably want to start going into clubs around 7-8 pm. This is the time where ladies start to leave their home and head towards the club for some serious party rocking with you.
3) Test the girls. Buying them the first drinks is a must. Initiate to chat with them. WE are gentleman, let us be the one to start the play and flirt. Start the talk, if she does not respond too well, please send her off after the first drink and hunt for the second. You will know which lady you can BF if the lady stays and talk too much and dance too much.
4) If you feel rich and want to have a little more fun, try pulling the PING PONG which cost around 3000 p (less than 70 usd) which will activate all the ladies to berserk mode to catch the bouncing ping pong. However, in fields, it is the fact that, how much is in your pocket and how much money can go into their pocket. This is a field for FUN, not a field to dress your best suit to impress the lady for marriage. Seems logical?
6) Hotels are just reasonable price in Fields. Devera Hotel is my favorite. Clean and Reasonable Price. Nice Staff. Most of the time, it is full. The next trip I would like to stay in the Fields Plaza Suite. Check it out. It is quite awesome. But expensive to some.
7) DO be alert. There are some lady who will give plenty of excuses to leave the hotel after 1 or 2 rounds of bangs. Thus, before you BF any lady, make sure you negotiate to ask her leave in the morning. ALso, you may tell her that you will pay some bonus tip to her if she leaves in the morning. Take note that some ladies do have kids or boyfriend at home waiting for them. IF they insist they want to leave, sometimes you have to. You may never know what they can do to you if you stop them from leaving. Its just luck to get a good lady.

Last day in AC.
After seeing my Mae off and taking a long nap I was ready to start the day at 3 PM. LOL. The plan was to check out the Saturday pool party at Scorebirds. So after a cup of coffee and a quick bite to eat I was off to check out the fun. After a short walk (its only about a block and a half down the street form Penthouse hotel) I was there. But I think it was still a little early for this (around 5 PM by now) and I soon got restless just sitting there so decided to take a walk.

AC is great and is probably #2 in my book to Pattaya. The girls are so damn sweet. My only problem was finding one that I really thought was hot. I have had several pizzas, a handful of the other dishes and several of their sub sandwiches off the menu and I would rate the kitchen as very good. I have NOT had the same experience as Uncle V.
Finding decent pizza in Angeles should probably be a whole different report (L O L).
So therefore, this just a different perspective.

Another poster also took exception. . . . and maybe I was a little over "enthusiastic" by saying it was "very good".
Among all the very mediocre restaurants in this place, it is hard enough to find a place that might be worth even a second visit.
Some of the restaurants that cater to the large ex-pat population have raised their prices though NOT the quality of the food or the wages of the employees. With the various trucking bans in Manila / inflation, some of the actual costs are going up though not necessarily at the rates the restaurants are going up.

Of course the following is a generalization.
Koreans like the girls young, skinny, and pretty (K-Pop features). They are culturally "not friendly". They want to barfine the cute girls early, go barhopping, and hang out with their own friends.
Some people don't like the Koreans. Some of their points are valid. Some of their points are bogus. Some of them will only be happy if fellow punters are mostly their own kind / types.
Atlantis. It's a large bar full of young cute girls. It is popular with the Koreans. If you want the best of the best, you have to go there early. But because the bar is so large, there are decent girls still available if you get there late. Everyone is welcome there (it's an Aussie? Manager), but some girls will only go out with Northern Asians (Koreans, Japanese, Chinese).I'm Korean, but grew up in the states and 100% Americanized. I have spent some time in Korea and will give a little background.
In Korea, there aren't many "western" style bars where you go in and socialize with other people. You go with a group of friends, get a table and drink within your group. Other bars include: KTV bars (again with friends / co-workers) and business bars. Business bars may semi-look like a western bar, but no other girls other than the waitresses / bartenders and the men don't interact with each. (There are clubs for the younger crowd as well.).
I've been to a few KTV bars in Seoul with a relative and the lineups were a pretty overwhelming experience. 3 groups of 10 girls came through for us to pick for someone to sit with us. Was pretty expensive though as I think it ran $200/2 hours (per girl) in the room and another $200 to go upstairs for ST (from what I recall). My guess is they don't have message boards in wide use like this to share information on pricing etc for traveling to the Philippines.

I would not describe GC as an "ambulant eatery". Use a dictionary next time if you are not 100% sure of the meaning of a word.
And BTW I have never gotten sick from eating at ambulant eateries (street food in Thailand or Tacos in Mexico). Only times I have gotten food poisoning was from relatively safe establishments: a very well known restaurant in Central Europe and at the breakfast buffet at one of the better hotels in Chiangmai.

Food poisoning comes from eating cheap garbage at ambulant eateries. I have no pity.I think you know "jack " about food poisoning. Firstly what 99% people of have is food "sensitivity" that we all call food poisoning because its an easier word to handle.
Food sensitivity can come from ice that's not made from pure water nor stored properly, from poorly prepared, poorly stored, poorly heated or re-heated food. Food handlers can equally create food sensitivity situations due to poor hygiene and touching prepared foods with bare, unwashed hands etc.
The symptoms generally are manifest very quickly and result in diarrhea and other LBM type situations. That can apply in all restaurants from the ambulant, to the high end.
Food poisoning comes from things such as cross contamination (a decent kitchen will have separate storage and preparation and separate chopping boards for meats, and fish and vegetables for instance).
Poisoning however can take up to 72 hours to manifest and can be identified by stool samples. The liver is actually in danger when theres real food poisoning because poison is toxic in nature.
Never been to PI, but been reading this thread as it is now on my list of places to visit. Thanks for sharing.

Sitting with locals and waiting for foods, it gives me the opportunity to be the part of local vibe. The essence of culture of the general peoples, who cannot afford high end joints. The fact is, they are the majority part of the country. The ingredients of foods are same all over the world (the veg, the meat, the fish etc). But the way of preparation of food gives us the taste behavior of the general peoples. Any one will agree, that the food habit represents the culture of the society.
Whatever the country I had visited The Indian Subcontinent, Central Asia, SEA or China, I always prefer to stay with street vendors for food. Never been poisoned in any kind, even m in my early 50's. Just once I had in China when I was in a conference, just taking by some dry snacks, since the foods were came from high end.

Ikksman.I concur. Only food safe to eat are fresh live shrimps, swimming fish, oysters. I love their street oysters which they barbecue with garlic paste. Once I had three dozen of them along with some friends eating on the street with beer. Any kind of meat is not what they it is. They buy the cheapest available. Barbecued chicken, pork, beef maybe cat, dog meat etc.

Have to agree that street food from reputable vendors is the freshest, tastiest and most convenient. Never got sick from street food in all my years in RP. But I have gotten sick in well known restos with Hep A via seafood (squid). Avoid seafood (shellfish and squid) unless you know it is fresh!
