In AC you pay fully at the bar (and give the girl an optional tip later) but in Manila you pay a bar fine and then you pay the girl. EDSA for example is php2000 to the bar and most girls ask for 2500-3000ST.

Most guys give it to the girl in the bar before leaving. Then as far as I know, the girl gives that entire amount to the bar before leaving with you. If you do it this way though, you have no leverage if the girl decides to leave early. And several people have complained about runners.

If you do or say certain things they may think you are the police and will tell you there is no such thing as a bar fine or that they can not leave out with you, etc. My first time going to AC I was with a Filipino friend. In every bar we went to they thought he was the police, so the girls were not as loose as they may have usually been.
If you do some reading in this section you will see that the police have been known to show up on occaision and take every employee in the bar to jail for how much ever amount of time as well as shutter the bar.

While I realize that some of you are non smokers and are positively giddy over the new ban, I am not so thrilled. No prizes for guessing I smoke. What I want to know is are they taking this seriously, haphazardly, a token bit of enforcement or. ? I will not be too happy if smoking is banned from all bars and even near public spaces outside? It might not stop me from going to AC but I will definitely think twice and also about my length of stay. I can't actually see how going out for a smoke would even work with half finished drinks to go back to, waitresses chasing you out the door with your unpaid bill not realizing you are coming back in 5 minutes etc. Any news from people on the ground?

All those hotels will either close up or become slum hotels overnight if the bars close and the tourists go elsewhere. The retirees don't stay there either. I think the authorities might try to be 'righteous' and close / limit the bars (eg smoking ban) but then big $ people will come forward to do what is necessary to keep AC bringing in the tourist dollars.
I know in Florida has the sping breakers bounce from town to town (after they ruin their welcome, a town clamps down on them and pushes the kids to another town). But where else would the Mongers go in the phils? Expensive and crowded manila / makati or distant Cebu or? The phils would be crazy to push away all that money by driving the mongers out of the phils all together. Especially as Asia rises. If they were smart, they would try for some of the Chinese money as they rise to the first world and will start mongering like Korea has in the past 10 years. But then again, who knows what Duetarte or the business-non-savy filipinos might do. Just my 2 cents.

That way she cannot make an excuse of time being up if we go to party or eat first. Only the hope of a tip or YMMV can make this experience a good one. I like Mr. E's strategy of telling the bar he will pay everything to girl after. If the bars agrees, that's the best idea. For example, if you are buying an abundance of lady drinks and tip well, they will trust you more to accept this scenario.

However, now bars are desperate to find and keep girls to the point that pretty high earners will always be in the right.
In today's market it can be in the interest of everyone on the supply side, EG BG, mama, bar owner, for the girl to be able to get two or more customers per night.
Having said that I've only had a couple of runners in many years and the risk decreases substantially if everyone's intentions are clarified before paying and leaving the bar.

There really is alternatives to working in the bar. My office has 12 filipinas (6 in Manila; 3 in Visayas; 3 in Mindanao) who each earn 1500 USD per month (or 75,000 php).
No way would they be needing to go anywhere near a bar.

I doubt if the momason will see a newbie as a good guy or not whether you are buying drinks or not. Cash up front is always more creditable. Don't forget even if they allowed the bfine to be paid later, the girl is on the hook for it to the bar. They deduct it from her salary. Some bars require the bfine to be settled by closing. Example is if you bfine the girl at 9 pm, she has to be back with the money by closing, say midnight if that bar closes then. Chances are she is not coming back to your room.

BD.Agreed. I'm constantly reading claims online that run counter to what I've experienced living here for years, almost as if some people are in denial and living in the glory days. (The glory days for mongers, that is.) The economy is clearly booming and there are a lot less women in dire straits than there were just two years ago. The parking area of a Starbucks I regularly visit is now so clogged with cars that it's almost impossible to find a spot without having to wait.
At the same time, most of the front spots are filled with the cars of employees. Those same baristas also have braces and the latest smart phones. So I suppose one must question if there's any correlation between that and the number of inbound flights from rich Middle Eastern countries. I personally find it hard to believe that a pinay making $250/ month or even $1,000 can somehow afford the aforementioned luxuries on her own. If you've ever owned a car in this country, you'd know that it isn't exactly cheap keeping it on the road. You simply tell them you will send the money back with the girl the next day. What is so difficult or inconceivable about that?

For example, I've never had a girl refuse to spend the night, and I've never discussed tip beforehand, though 200/300 pesos is on the very low end of the curve, so if girls know in advance this is all they're getting, it may be no wonder that they leave. Just a quick question since I'm a little confused. In Thailand, the bar fine is paid to the bar and then you must pay the fee for the lady for short time or long time. I had planned my August trip starting with AC (5 days), then Cambodia (6 days, Phnom Penh:4, Sihanoukville:2) and Pattaya (10 days).
August 12 to 17 (5 days).
I was booked at Lewis Grand Hotel, Corner room for the entire stay (approx. 80 USD per night, got 20% discount through Agoda). The hotel had send me a August sale promo mail but the rates were worse compared to offer from Agoda including taxes.
It indeed is more fun in the Philippines and I will surely be back.Excellent report. Much helpful for people who are going to make a visit recently.

I have never been to Phills and plan a visit to Angeles City soon but reading some reports here it seems maybe you negotiate a fee with the bar to take lady to your room and maybe the bar pays the lady and you only have to give her few hundred pesos for tip.
I am a little confused as to how bar fine works in Phills compared to Thai any help much appreciated tnc.

Its those type of things that never used to happen but are happening more and more with today's girls. The grandmothers and the mothers of today's bargirl spoiled us long time mongers to what we want or expect when our money goes down on the table. Thing are definitely changing and not for the better IMO.

BE.It is all about your attitude, your demeanour, how polite you are, how you smell, if you are drunk, how you chat with them etc.
Those who think AC is all about 'wham bam thank you maam' and think the girls will jump into bed with you for 500 pesos is long gone (although am sure this still happens but I don't think the stunners do LOL). You must be nice and friendly etc. Y0 u must be a gentleman (surprisingly for some of you out there?
I have contacts that always like me and my friends as my friends treat them with respect, are nice, etc. As GE said he is not as handsum as other men (such as myself GE LOL) and he never has issues so why should anyone else.
Admittedly there was one monger (handle I can't remember) who always complained about this and then owned up in one FR that he was raging drink each night when he spoke to the girls so no surprises he left empty handed each night.

BE.I'll chime in to be an additional data point. I documented my experience in the March time frame, but to summarize I was 3 for 3 (or maybe 5 for 5 if you count the same girl I had for 3 nights) for both LT and GFE. Respect the girls; be friendly; don't be demanding or aggressive; ok to be drunk, but know how to handle yourself; and it's important to judge the girl. You should be able to tell if a girl is genuine to a high, but not perfect, level of certainty.
I'll be heading over there in a couple of weeks and I expect my report card to stay at 100% LT and GFE. You'll be the first to know otherwise.

BE.You have not noticed any change? How are you handling the new no smoking laws in AC there GE? Much like Davao, you can't light up anymore in a restaurant or bar with impunity has you have before. It's literally a breath of fresh air now by not having to put up with rude uneducated smokers who are slowing killing themselves and have no problem with damaging the health of people around them. I would say that's a very major change in AC.

To which I only actually paid the BF to 45 so far. My point is its harder to find them before when it was almost a given they stay with you till you kick them out yourself. The tread is going to ST. Do I get LT girls Yes. Do I get GFE when I take these girls Most of the time yes. But I might have to do 3-5 drink interviews before I find one that does. And A LT girl that says yes in the bar then changes her mind with some excuses to leave soon after the 1st pop is becoming more and more frequent. (RUNNERS). Before I might have had 1 runner in 50 now its about 1 in 6. Of the 45 actual BF girls 6 were runners. I just reporting what's happening to me I am not getting to many 1st choices from the bars and have to settle for the 2nd or 3 choice girls from any given bar.
