Firstly, I want to segment the population here. This discussion is about bar girls in the Philippines. Not all Filipinas. I think the idea of Filipinas wanting to marry western men and make babies is still 100% true. And this is for a few reasons, IMHO.
1. It is usually a more elder gent who is likely to fall in this trap of finding true love and getting married. For the Filipina, this means the possibility of a perceived better life in a western country, maybe a foreign passport, maybe an inheritance when the geezer kicks the bucket.
2. The offspring produced with a white man's seed is generally more good looking (white) and hence has a better prospect of a privileged future in the Philippines itself. Think Pia Wurtzbach.
3. Western men are still perceived as being more responsible about the child they sire. This may be contrary to the truth. I am sure you have watched Fallen Angels.
4. Most of the Korean men who monger in Philippines are married and would never ever think of leaving their family for a Filipina bar girl. They come for fun, have fun and go back. So this is a report of my first night in Angeles, and I can say with a straight face, that this place sucks and has really gone down to shit. As I previously mentioned, there are potholes everywhere and the pavement on "Walking Street" is awful. They should call it "Bust Your Ass Street" because I kept on seeing drunk ass people trip and fall all night, especially girls with high heels. Stupid. It was hot, humid, muggy and stinky. Korean restaurants, booths, and shops are everywhere. Why the hell people would pay high restaurant prices for packaged MSG infused ramen noodles is bonkers to me. I never thought I would see the day where a restaurant would sell and serve its customers packaged ramen noodles from 7-11. Anyways, I did some quick scouting into a few Go Go bars such as Ra, Monsoon, Dollhouse, Lollipop, Flamingo, Viking, and Shipwreck. One word. Horrible! In the past I would have said Queens because the hotel pool is outdoors, while the original ABC pool is mostly indoors. No sun. But now ABC has the Aqua pool on the roof.

After years of reading ISG reports, I finally decided to go and see with my own eyes what Angels City had to offer.
Stayed at Pacific Breeze, a medium range hotel, with an amazing localization in terms of the mongering scene, less than half a minute from the center of Walking street, but far enough to be very quiet at night.
There are more fancy offers, but for 2250 PHP, it was a good choice. The hotel is also at your service helping you in your night activities, in your room you have recomendations with the do's and the don'ts in the nightlife. In your room in complement to the mini bars you have condoms, in case you need them sudennly. It was the first time I saw a hotel openly targeting the monger customers.
After so many readings about the decline of Angeles, I was truly curious about the place, my first impression the moment I entered Walking street was good, lots of women, even in the street, and a good vibe.
In the end of the trip, around one week, I had some mixed feelings.
The Go Go Bars. All my activities were in GO Go's, I didn't play the internet game, but not only here it seems its something you should not neglect at your own risk.
I visited many bars, but its difficult to classify them, with just one visit.
Atlantis was a disappointment, I was kept on the ground floor, probably upper floors were for Koreans! IMHO AC is a paradise on earth. Everywhere is within easy walking distance if you stay near Walking Street and there are endless options.
I like an early evening shift starting between 6 to 7 pm in the Go Go bars, my favourites are Lollipop, Dollhouse, Rhapsody, Shooterz and Voodoo Lounge (the latter is open 24 hours and is always a good option). Bar fines are reasonable (compared to Makati) and the girls are great fun and almost always, in my experience, have a great attitude.

If you don't mind a bit of hiking, the highest peak on Cebu Island (Oslob) provides geographic features superior to Choco Hills. I did both trips and I did both with a Filipina. It's more fun in the Philippines with a Filipina!

1. Do not get drunk.
2. Do not carry lots of money, expensive phone, jewellery. Carry only local currency enough for nights entertainment.
3. Do not trust any girls or guys even if she comes across as friendly.
4. Be aware of your surroundings. Once I was pickpocketed at Classico in Sosua while dancing. Lost only about 500 pesos.
The money was in the back pocket. Change I got after buying drinks. More money is always in my front pocket.
5. A girl I was with few times before stole 2000 pesos in Manila because I failed to lock up my money after the night out. I always lock up all the money before I go to sleep unless I am alone. Thought since I was with this girl many times for 3-4 days at a time I could trust her.
6. Before the girl leaves make sure nothing is missing by your oversight. Most hotels call you when the girl leaves.
7. Public transportation is safe only for locals. You are a target.
8. Discos tend to get very crowded. Do use caution.

GE.Yes. No. Not necessarily. You could as easily have ridden all your rides in jeeps / trykes and never been robbed. My getting pick / pocketed once many years ago is not an example to hold up as jeeps being dangerous; and having been picked once (only) in about the same amount of time that you've been here is a pretty good track record (I think) considering how much I travel, and my nick had nothing to do with jeeps / trykes. Several of the long-time members on this very board are frequent jeep and rail guys, and their instance of trouble is either quite low or non-existent. I'd agree that riding jeeps / trykes is somewhat more dangerous than riding taxi's, but also look what trouble the members here report with taxi drivers dishonesty.
BTW, recently had a Grab driver be dishonest. Upon exiting the Grab-Taxi, the driver pointed to the meter, which showed p69. The bill should be p69 + p10 (booking fee) = p79. Nice of him to point it out. Later the emailed receipt showed meter p120 + p10 booking fee, total p130. I called the driver and he apologized and said he would correct it before his shift ended. He did not, and the next day I emailed Grab about the incident. Grab's initial response later was that sometimes GrabTaxi's fare is higher in congested traffic. Yes, that might be true, but the traffic had been light, and the metered fare of p69 was about right (1. 5 km ride, few minutes in the car). P120 would indicate several miles and longer time in the car, so I wrote back saying that the driver pointed to the p69 metered fare. Grab replied, saying they had contacted the driver, the driver agreed with me, Grab adjusted the fare back to p69, "We take very seriously a driver's misrepresentation of a fare", and Grab had instructed the driver to contact me. He did not.
Another Grab goodie. As we pulled up to my destination in the GrabTaxi, the meter said p75. The driver used his phone app to bump that to p100 (he showed me as he did it). He said: "Your tip to me today sir is 25 only". Oh my. You MUST. BE. KIDDING. Set it back to 75 fella. "But sir all my customer give tip to me". Listen, chubs, one of the reasons I take GrabTaxi's is that the fare goes to my credit card. I give a tip of cash if I'm in the mood. The idea is that as the car rolls up to my destination, I can see the metered fare and walk away from the taxi knowing there will be a small booking fee added on, and its a cash-less and carefree time. Having a driver suggest a tip at the end of a ride is wrong (and possibly against Grab policy).

So now is my time and I started my first trip to AC. This is my first Report on this Forum.
Yesterday after Arrival at NAIA Airport I cleared Immigration quick (I don't get any stamp in my passport, is that normal?) and after buying a sim card I jumped on the Airport Shuttle Bus to Shuttle 3, which leaved immediately.

I once came into Canada with about $20 k US on me. I had a valid reason, documents showing where I got the cash from and why I had it and all they did was verify the amount of cash. Since I had left from Afghanistan where they did not have a restriction in place on leaving with cash I also had to convince them that I didn't have an export document from Afghanistan. You also will have to declare the cash when you leave home and keep trhat documentation with you. I also had a few hundred in about 5 other currencies, they asked the conversion rates and added it all together. When I deposited the US cash in my bank they asked for the source of the funds and I showed them the same documents I showed Customs plus my Customs declaration and never heard about it again. It took so long I almost missed my connection.
When got my SRRV I was told that I could bring US cash for the deposit ($20 k) but would have to show the Customs declaration for the cash. I see you having 3 choices:
1) Don't declare the cash, take a risk of getting it confiscated and a paying a fine in addition.
2) Declare the cash, have a good explanation ready, have documentation on the source of the cash and take the risk of having people know you are carrying that much cash with you when you leave the airport. (A slight risk but a risk never the less.).
3) Travel with less than $10 k US, 9,900 will be legal, and transfer in additional cash as needed or take cash from ATM's as you need.
Personally I'd go with with option 3. I'd keep ready US cash less than about $5 k and then use a remittance service (I have used worldremit.com with success but there are lots or sites available.) or simply use ATM withdrawals. I have found that an ATM withdrawal, even with exchange and fees comes out pretty cheap to safely transfer cash to here.
Also you should note that outside of the airport currency exchange booths, making an exchange is difficult. You will have to show ID, they will ask the source of the funds and sometimes why you want to convert to local currency, they will record the serial number of the bills and get you to sign the record sheet etc. All that for a bad rate of exchange and the risk of losing the cash en route.
Don't get travelers cheques, they don't work here as they consider them the same as personal cheques and if they even accept them they will make you wait 30 days for them to clear before releasing the cash.

I have PHP and US $ accounts but the pesos account needs to remain 'active' otherwise they 'block' access to it after a few months. The US $ is fine but the pesos one can be a headache at times. I tend yo use the dollar one and have both ATM cards so I don't have an issue.

Some people on a different Philippine forum (general living here not mongering) have said that some banks ask for an ACR card which you can only get after a while in country.
However like a lot of things here, if one bank says it is not allowed, try a different one.
I opened mine at the HSBC Makati branch and have had a HSBC account at home for years. Don't know if that helped with the account opening but it is easy to transfer funds between home and here.

I travel for months at a time and never carry more than $500 US with me. I usually end up going home with the $500. I use two ATMs that refund ATM fees and charge no conversion fees. That way I can do a double dip when I need big cash. But usually one is safe back in the hotel / airbnb if I get robbed.
There are a bunch, Schwab (seems to be the most popular), Capital One and Fidelity. Schwab express mailed me a new card in the Atacama Desert when I stupidly left my card in the machine. The new Chase Sapphire Banking Card has no fees but they provide NO fraud protection in a bunch of countries of course including the PI.

......Depending on when you are here ATM can be an issue. Every year during Holy Week, the week before Easter, the place shuts down and not all ATM machines get replenished. It may happen at Christmas and perhaps sometimes other holiday periods.

Today was a very hard day for me.
I had many work to do.

If you are lucky enough to get the clap in Angeles, go to the hospital and pay the various fees to be cleaned up, if such is possible. They wil recommend anti biotics, both generic and non generic. The good stuff is prescription only, the bad stuff is Pakistani junk that is best passed on or binned. If you are lucky you may well be able to use the same prescription more than once and hterefore get double or more doses with the intention of zapping whjat can be zapped.
The clap danger in your post is you hint at DIY cures with the help of some crap priced for the peso pinching crack hos. That is penny wise and peso foolish. Go to the hospital and joinm the queue, unless you are American in which case you can stand in line.

Thanks!I went to a Makati dentist that a local friend recommended. I got a whitening plus a 5 tooth crown replaced and an extraction. (Original crown was a 4 tooth and the abutment tooth broke off at the root.).
I was very happy with the outcome. Took a little longer and more fittings than I originally expected. The dentist operated completely different to ones back home. There a dentist will have between 2 to 4 chairs plus a hygienist or two all working at the same time. The dentist will only come in for the part of the procedure he or she needs to do and the rest of the time you are with the dental assistant who does all the prep work.
Here it was one chair, one assistant and the dentist. No people in the waiting room most of the time I was there and I had the full attention of both people in the office the entire time I was there. I always walked in straight to the chair even coming a few minutes early.
Cost was crown 125 k, whitening 30 k and the extraction and filling the root cavity was another 14 k or 169 k all in. About half the price for the same in Canada.
Bonus was a female dentist, older grandmother so get your minds off the reason for this board but she had very small hands so the time in the chair was not as uncomfortable as it is with a guy with ham fists LOL.
On my last flight in I sat next to a guy who was coming back for the second set of procedures for a complete mouth replacement, all new teeth crowns on titanium posts throughout. He said that he saved enough for all the flights, hotels etc and some left over compared to the quotes he had from a US dentist.

She checks each time now. When you ask for narcotic-level pills, its entered into a database and tracked. Co-pay $30, pills cost nothing thru the insurance.

Then I spoke with my regular dentist when I was living in Frankfurt, Germany (Scottish fellow). He told me of a patient that came in to have a filling replaced due to a cavity. Well, the filling from a dentist in the Philippines was made of a metal that was so hard that the dentist in Germany went through five drill bits to get it out. He said it was horrible work.
A personal example was a visit I made to to an Angeles City dentist for a cleaning and exam. She took X-Rays and told me I needed to have a filling replaced, so I made an appointment for the next day. However, on arrival her air compressor was broken so I cancelled. When I returned to Germany my dentist told me the tooth was fine and I may have been scammed.
At the end of the day it is up to you. Just remember that you are in a country where anyone can get a credential if you are willing to pay for it.
One other tidbit. Back when I was a sailor in Subic, my girlfriend went to a private hospital in Olongapo for an illness. I visited her and while there stretched out on an empty bed in the room of what was considered a "better" hospital. We both came down with Sacbies and were itching like crazy and had to "de-louse", lysol everything, etc. The hospital did not provide medication. They give a friend or relative a prescription for everything including the IV and you need to go and get the supplies from a pharmacy.
The country is essentially a 3rd world "sanitation challenged" petri dish when it comes to health care unless you go to a facility recommended by your Embassy in Manila. There ARE some good doctors and dentists in the country, but you need to find them and the Embassy health units are good sources.
Great place for beer and BJ's but not much else. IMHO.

Have paid as little as 250 for a cleaning (small town in Mindanao). Once used a dentist along Adriatico, across from Robinson's, about 2 years ago. Wanted a cleaning. I think the name of the Residence is Adriatico One, and there is a dentist on the ground floor. Walked in and asked for a cleaning. The girl ushered me right in to a dental chair. The dentist came in and in chat before hand, he mentioned he'd just returned from a Dental conference in the States. Nice chap. He cleaned with a scraping pic. After, the receptionist said it was p1700. I paid with CC. Another dentist in a Mindanao mall also quoted 1700 (I departed).
I've used a dentist regularly in Cebu, in the shopping center behind Bo's coffee on Rama St, in Fuente. Cleanings are water-pic-type (not scrape). Usually p300, in and out, a lady dentist (who miraculously remembers everything about my mouth without looking at any x-rays or records). Was there a few months ago and this time a fella dentist. Looking in my mouth he said: "I see you filled your cavities in your home country. White filling". Yes, I did. "Just like my colleague told you to do the last time you're here, yes?" You mean the lady dentist? Yes, I remember her saying that. "Yes, her. Did she tell you that you have two small cavities that don't need filling yet, and one large that needed a filling?" Yes, she did. "She wrote that in your file. Your home dentist filled all three. No need on the smaller ones. He drilled cavities so small they were only visible with a magnifying glass, just to fill them". Are you saying he did that just for insurance money? "Its the only reason that I can think of. But I can't be sure". You seem very knowledgeable about my mouth, considering this is the first time you've examined me, fella; I've never seen you here before, just the lady. "Not so. I own this place. I look through the files of every patient every night. You've been getting cleanings here twice a year for more than 5 years. I know your file". Wow.
Then he went somewhere my US dentist went. "Before these cavities, when was your last cavity that you remember?" Um, when I was a teenager. "Yes. I can tell you floss regular, my colleague wrote it in your file. Forty years between cavities. In 6 months time you got 3 cavities. Its strange? Did you change your brushing habits in the last year? Stop flossing?" No. That's what my US dentist asked. I had started using one of those electric rotating Oral-be type electric brushes. "Oh. Yes. Don't. The brushes are soft. They just don't clean the teeth. Get back to a medium or hard bristle and keep brushing your gums and flossing. You should not see any more cavities. If you want to try something different, get one of those Water-pic units". Interesting, that's exactly what my US dentist said. I had tried one, but the water sprays all over the bathroom sink and mirror, hated it. Charge: p500 this time. Nice meeting the owner.
Can't say that the P1700 Malate cleaning was any better / worse than the p500 cleaning. At these prices, you could get the Cebu cleaning 4-5 times per year, no sweat.
