You better off saving your bucks, getting a cab from bkk for around 1200 baht.The best is to take the mini-bus from the airport to Pattaya (with a drop off at one of a choice of many hotels) for 300BT. While taking the bus from Ekamai or Morchit will only cost you 90BT, transfers from airport to bus station and then bus station to hotel (in Pattaya) will push your cost of bussing it over 300BT.

Your numbers don't quite add up there on the minibus being cheaper. The airport bus to the bus station is 100 baht, and the transfer via Baht bus to your hotel is (if I remember right) 40 baht if you're willing to take a shared bus (around 100 if you negotiate for a Baht bus as a taxi.)
Total is 230 baht. Granted, that's not much less than 300 baht, and I wouldn't recommend it for first timers. But it's zero hassle, the busses run many times a day, and make for an interesting slice of Thailand on the trip.
Where do you make arrangements for the minibus, and how often do they run? The only time I've taken a minibus was on the way back from Pattaya on my first trip; required a reservation and took forever dropping people off at different hotels.

You're right. My math was off. I agree that the bus is a fine way to go for those who know their way around. Still, I like the mini-bus for it's simplicity at a fair rate.
The service is operated by Royal Thai Airlines, and it's a set rate, so you don't have to worry about the fucking taxi drivers taking you on a 20 mile excursion to get to Morchit station (I really hate those bastards). The booth is in the welcome hall just after you leave customs; it's just near the exit for 'limos'. I think it's booth #4, but you should ask the guards at either end of the guarded area to be sure.
BTW, if you're very tall, I would recommend hiring a private taxi as the mini- and air-con buses just don't have the leg room. I'm 6', and neither are very comfortable. If you're over 6'2", I'd guess you'd have possible health issues (you can form blood clots in these situations) being so cramped for the 2-3 hour drive. In that case, the 1200BT taxi is worth it.

I have just come back from my 1st trip to Pattaya and had an amazing un f*cking believable time.

The only time I got violently ill was after eating the buffet on a Sunday night at an Irish pub called Shananigans near the Royal Plaza, and man was I sick. It was also a rip off, bill came to 500 baht including a cocktail for 160.-
I have to say that I ate at all these stands that one sees on the streets, was taken to eat by bar girls and not once did I get sick from that - and at besides I also ate sea food from these places, not to forget some of the spiciest food on any side of the equator...The average price for a meal was 100 baht and the food was damn good.
Lastly if anyone thinks they can find love in Pattya then they need their head read. All these girls want is your money..that is it but more on that scene later.

A few days ago, Big Jeff, asked about prices for a 10 day lay-over in Pattaya, I put this together as a response. My experience with the place is not so extensive (spent a 1 month tour-of-duty recently, but other than that, always spent time in BKK & Phuket instead), so, more experienced Pattaya Players, please correct me if I've made overpayments.
Saw your post from a couple weeks back, asking about prices for Pattaya, and figured that this might help:
Airfare:
Depends where you're flying from, check with asian travel agents as they always give me the best deals.
Hotel (rates per night):
Ultra Cheap (no a/c, cold water shower): 220-330BT ($6-8USD)
Average (a/c, warm water shower): 770BT ($20USD)
'Upscale' (Not worth it): 1650BT+ ($42USD)
NOTE: These prices include a typical 10% surcharge, quoted prices will be less
Food:
Depends on your tastes. I typically eat at street vendor stalls, and, hence pay about 70BT ($2USD)/meal. You can pay more if you're dining at better restaurants.
Bar Fines:
Beer Bar = 200BT ($5USD)
A-go-go = 500BT ($12.5USD)
NOTE: I recommend picking up girls out of Lucifer's or Tony's to avoid this waste of money, but, when you gotta have her.
Sex:
Short Time = 500BST
Long Time = 1000BT
Soapy = 1600BT + Tip (assume 200BT) = 1800BT
Taxi/Baht Bus:
Baht Bus rides are 5BT up and down Beach road.
Okay, let's assume you spend $550 (22000BT) on the flight, stay at an average hotel, spend 500BT/day on food, average 400BT/day in bar fines, 1 Soapy/2 days, 1 ST/day, 1LT/day, and spend 50BT/day on the baht buses (remember that you'll have to pay for your TG as well). Add it up and you're looking at about 63,000BT (roughly $1600USD).
There are other costs you might consider as well--condoms, viagara (buy Kamagra for 500BT instead of V for 1800BT), trinkets, etc. I'd, want to have about $2000 USD before considering the trip.

I just left Pattaya for a side trip to the Philipines. If your thinking of doing the same then don't waist your time. I sucks here. They treat blow jobs like its a delicacy.

That's what I heard...
There is a lot of construction on Beach Road but I saw hundreds
of girls there - walked a few kilometers - even tried one for 500 baht but that was the 1st and last time.....the bars are the better deal but you as you all know YMMV......I did find the soapies to be great fun and just for the record having visited Sabai Dee Massage one of the girls told me that they get half of the 1600 baht fee so a 200 tip is more then enough in my eyes.
As for a hotel I stayed at the Roof Garden Inn and for 13 days in a big airconditioned room, more than enough space for clothes, with huge bed, including morning coffee, all my laundry, mini bar, snacks, 4 hours of internet came to just on $200.- .Oh and not to forget the shower which can take 4 people. The down side for some people might be that it is in Jomtien which is not amongst the bars but its quiet.
Anyone that needs info please message me.

bozz -- since i _am_ in pattaya now... the serious construction starts about central and is proceeding north (some open holes south but nothing past maybe soi 10 (didn't actually note it so might not be totally accurate) the woofers still congregate like cockroaches in the darker places on the beach side of beach (and rep001ter in the light, too). some there during the day, too. the occassional cutie can be found but few and far between. am looking for the bald broad just for laughs but no luck finding her on beach yet. the beer bars are still one of the better bets and i don't know why the local gendarmerie would be hassling the girls on beach anyway - it's not like they care (unless they are getting a cut (or ****) of the action)

I never paid 5 baht ever, in fact when coming from Jomtien to Beach road some of the drivers asked for 20 baht.
As for the girls on Beach Road - I think one needs to consume a half litre of Thai whiskey to even consider the thought of going with some of them, but if thats your thing then who am I to talk.
Domino as for food I think stay away from the falang places, the street vendors are best and I also found some 100 baht-per-meal-eateries near Jomtien beach, also on Pattaya land Soi 2 near Jupiter Bar.
Some of the bar ladies took me to eat and I figured if its good for them then its good for me, although the Thai's definitely give the word spicy a different meaning.....like I said the only time I got violently ill was from eating at that damn Irish pub...and every pharmacy knows what immodium is......The falang places will also take much more money, relatively, for food that is definitely not on par with the Thai food vendors. Try some BBQ squid near Big C
and there is also a cafe at Food Land for bacon/eggs and also pancakes at really decent prices.

I have been taking things easy. I went into the Apex swill again today and, bearing your posts in mind, there were the things going through my mind:

Here goes another report, been to BKK and Pattaya to meet the

Was very busy this trip so no reports just a short summary.
Had been in Pattaya for a couple of days. Biz is slow, lots of girls and very little customers. Even after closing hours which is 2:00 - 2:30am right now lots of opportunities.
Gogos close 2:00 am straight, bars still run but lights off and music down (what a relief). Marine Disco closing 2:00 am as well, Marine plaza 2:30-2:45. Marine Lek and Marine II do not open at all, at least it seemed so. Boom still up till early morning and many girls proceed there. If police needs cash or want to look tough they even turn off Boom straight at 2:30am.
Haven't seen much that took my attention. Maybe I am used to their looks, being too choosy or just fed up with the scene, but it seems that really cute and stunning girls are hard to find these days.
Went to all the bar places and some gogos, mainly living Dolls and Peppermint (upstairs next to Marine Disco). Best places in my opinion, some cute chicks (not many though) but some only want ST and others are already picked.

When we arrive to Bangkok, we get the bus to Korat and it was an ok ride but a little bumpy. I have to use the toilet and it was an experience ofa lifetime. Careful with your Thai terms. Farang is the Thai word for foreigner. Transsexuals are usually known as ladyboy or kathoey.

That is a funny. In my last trip I saw a cop stopping people going down soi 7 which also is 1 way. I stayed at Sabai Inn on soi 2 about 3 years ago, some people don't like the location but I think it is in the perfect location, I haven't stayed there since I found the Residence Garden which is also a little of the beaten path but i like the quite location and always bahtbuses going by.
Tik sounds like alot of fun, I think the most important thing while on vacation is having a great time with great girls that you like hanging with.
I think those BlowJob bars are a rip of scam, reminds me of Patpong in Bangkok or Tijuana, Mexico.

Interestingly, all of these words do seem to be derived from "Frank" as filtered into the Middle East during the Crusades, and then spread via Muslim trade-routes. There's a book by Robert Bartlett that contends that by the late middle ages, when 80% of Europe's kings and queens were French, "Frank" became synonomous with "aggressive westerner" which is kind of how the terms gets used perjoratively in LOS at times, it seems. ;)
But the bottom line is that the actual word "farang" in Thai, and it's variation most everywhere in SEA, predates the arrival of the French in the region.

Soi 6 is not big street, but side street only. It running east to west betwen Pattaya beach road, Pattaya 2nd road. It maybe 200m north of Pattaya central road. Can find easy, Pattaya girl area very small maybe 4km long and 2 km wide. Compass can help you.

Look in the "shed" at the market Tuesday and Friday IIRC at the end of Soi Bukeauw - not the TENT, the SHED - west side of soi - cost - maybe 1000 to 2000B depending on model PLUS start-up costs - maybe another 500B - the starter card is 200 and the time is 300. Mostly Nokia, some others - SMS but pix and colour costs more - I was offered a Motorola "basic" for 600B.
There is also a small market back toward central maybe 1km at what would be about Soi 8-1/2 (no street there, on Bukeauw north of the back of Made in Thailand and north of the "future condo development" - small "parking lot" market in the afternoons/evenings - I saw 3 vendors/repairmen there. Prices pretty much the same - good food, too) the "sort of best internet prices" seem be on Bukeauw as well - 30B/hr with a strange calculation of "parts of an hour"
I remember some phones at the Naklua market as well. The Bahtbus goes out there if you get one that is going farther north than North Road.

I wake up early, before TA and her hand but not before my one eyed lizard. I go to eat a Balance bar and pop an Andriol pill which ended up being my last Andriol of the trip. I go to the Gym and had a great workout. The Hard Body Gym is still my favorite in Pattaya, it probably isn't the nicest but it is never crowded, it is 3 stories, i usually use the second and third floor. When I return from the Gym, TA was getting ready to go to the Temple. I remembered i had to call and reconfirm the car to Bangkok the next day, I hired Somsak Taxi Service. We ended up chartering a bahtbus to the Temple.
I'm not Buddhist so I felt like a Blind man at an orgy, i had to feel my way around. It was a great time, I was given a bracelet by the Monk for good luck. OK guys, tell me it doesn't mean we are married. Just Joking. I bought a box of birds that I set free, for good luck.
Last week I was losing my football bets and I tore the bracelet off.
After the Temple we go to TA's bar and i say goodbye to the girls and I buy TA a drink, when TA was done with her first drink, the mamassan asked me if i wanted to buy her another drink, i said "no", that was the last words the mamassan spoke to me and that was the last I talked to the mamassan. She found out TA and I drank beer at Red Lion on soi 7almost everyday so she was pissed at us. That ***** cost the bar alot of money by me not drinking there everyday, she asked for it.

I'm not a smoker, well cigarettes anyway.
After alot of goodbyes at the bar, TA and i are walking down either soi 7 or 8, i'm not sure, i was a little tipsy but i heard another "Kevin" Ok, now it'll be Noi, nope, not Noi but it was my friend again and his lady. We drink another beer at a bar, i forgot the name but it was a nice bar and inexpensive beer. I had another nice chat with my friend his lady and a nice man originally from England but lives in Pattaya, lucky guy.
After a few more beers, it was time to go, we charter a bahtbus to walking street, my friend and his girl go to the FLb, i ask TA if she wants to go to the FLB and then we can give the flowers to some of the ladies, she said "OK", she said OK as she looked me with a smile on her face, she knew i could barely stand up at that point of the night. We went back to the room, I made sure the alarm was set and i made sure reception gave us a wake up call, actually TA made sure of both, she was the sober one. Before I got to sleep, i drank 2 cans of Tomato Juice, that helps prevent a hangover the next day.
We slept good that night, no boom boom but i would of had a wedding dick anyway with all the beer i drank.
Day 16
I wake up and I felt like shit, not because I drank more than a Kennedy the night before, because i had to leave that day. We wake up at 600am, we are both sitting in bed looking at eachother. I ask TA "one more boom boom for the road" She said "OK" We were going at it forever, it might of been the beer from the night before, it might of been all the shagging in that trip. I finally came and there was more cum than I thought, i thought my balls were completely drained. I came on her tits, I went to pick her up and i was very weak. I say "no cry, i am a crazy man". We hugged for about 5 minutes and then i told her "i call you". I breezed thru Passport Control and found a phone and called TA "I Kit-toon Khoon" (i miss you). I wanted to cheer her up before I left.

I've stayed at Sabai Inn about 3 years ago, great hotel, IMHO great location on soi 2. There used to be a great internet cafe next to Sabai Lodge but they tore it down. I've never stayed at Sabai Lodge but from the reviews I read, it is a little nicer and they have a pool.

Soi 6 is known as the "Short time Soi" because of the upstairs venues IN THOSE BARS. (actually the rooms aren't exactly "part" of the bars, but I digress).
IF it's a BAR on Soi 6 with GIRLS (no, not merely servers (the restuarant bars) - there are a couple of those there) - they have "services".
To Artisto - if you go into most of the bars on 6, you will see lots of empty seats. Some guys go in the front door and disappear only to reappear later. Gee, they went "upstairs" to the "girl's rooms and shared a bit of time. (Going rate was 250 plus 500 I seem to remember. Bordello? Nah, not according to the bar. Just a "private enterprise". Stay clear of Montien Pattaya, even if you book and pay for double room, you take a guest back it will cost you an extra 800 baht per night.
I believe the Marriott resort, and Dusit are GF as long as you book double.
Myself I am trying Sandy Spring which has good reports, also Residence Garden has good reports.

D'ma Hotel is a great Hotel.It is located in Prathunam area , near World Trade Centre , good place to do shopping.I've been there several times 5 or 4 years ago.
Nothing to say about service,cleaning,rooms,etc.. anything's excellent.
They have a great buffet with thai and western food.
I would not put this hotel on the top of my "best mongering location list" instead.If you're looking for an hotel located straight 'in the action' D'ma is not the case.If you're looking for something you can simply walk to the hot zone I would suggest different places like Landmark Hotel,NaNa Hotel,Grace Hotel (NA NA area) or Montien Hotel BKK (just in front of Patpong,very suggested).
Anyway staying away from the hot zone in Bangkok is not a big problem.
You can find in front of D'MA Hotel a 24 hours taxi service so you'll be able to get the best places (NaNa,PatPong) in just 5 to 7 minutes by car.
Girls are allowed, of course but,if I remind well, Hotel gonna charge you something (a small ammount).

There was a bus service from Don Muang Airport to Pattaya. If international flights still land at this airport you can buy the ticket at the Thai Limousine Service just before go out from airtport.
Unfortunately there are only 3 runs: 9.00 - 12.00 - 15.00 if nothing had changed from April 2004.
The bus is not always on time and the price should be 200 bath.

Returned from a great trip to Thaland. Most of it was in Pattaya. I really wish had made the trip longer!
Day 1 - arrived in Bangkok about 8PM for one night at the Majestic. Great location, clean rooms, good value. Will stay again. Went to the beergarden on soi7 but left when someone I didn't want was hanging on me. Too bad, there were many great ladies. Walked around a bit and went to the Nana disco - great place. Found a nice lady to spend the night and was off to the hotel.
Day 2 - Having booked at the Dynasty in Pattaya, took the complimentary shuttle from the Dynasty (Bangkok) to Pattaya. The only condition is you pay for 2 nights in advance. If the hotel didn't work out, I'd change. The best part of the shuttle was the chance to meet a few other guys going to Pattaya and get a few pointers. Also wound up making a few friends to hang around over the next 10 days. Really worked out well.
In Pattaya, spent some time getting oriented. Picked up some snacks for the room so I wouldn't have to pay the high markups on the items in the room. This came in handy! Spent maybe 300-400 baht and saved a couple thousand.
Didn't do much until evening. Went over to the designated meeting place on Soi 8 - The Chicken Farm. Just a basic beer bar. One of the guys knew the Mamasan. Took two ladies to the room that night - great fun.
Day 3 - Had 4 ladies and I was starting to get worn out. One I met right out in front of the Dynasty. Saw a review on Na, a dark skinned TG with long hair and a great smile.
Days 4-12 - Had tons of fun. There's a lot to do in Pattaya. Went Jet Skiing with two cute Thai Girls. Mine loved to punch the throttle! She was a little reserved, but warmed up a bit after a while.

Walking street has tons of choices. Read the reviews on the places. Some of the gogo bars are a great with elaborate strip shows, etc. Just keep in mind, the gogo bars are pricier all the way around.
I found you meet better ladies at some of the beergardens. I'm not good at rejecting a lady. Problem was that I'd have one come up to me that I wasn't really hot for. While she's trying, along comes a really hot one! Didn't want to be outright rude. Learned later that you can take note of the other lady and ask the one next to you if she knows her. 9 out of 10 ladies get the hint right away and readily help you out.
Hardly ever made it over to other sois, like Soi 6 until the last day. Some of those places are great for a quickie, but not for meeting a real honey.
Went to a couple movies with a honey while there. TG really like the movies.
Probably the best time was had at the discos. Went to one that was not on Walking street. I forget the name, but it was in South Pattaya about 1/2 mile inland. What a place! Probably 5000 people there to see a live performance by a top Thai group. Had Noon with me and we had a great time.
Other meeting places include the mall over by soi 13/1. Must've met 10 ladies who were good prospects. Many people comment Beach road is great, but I wasn't impressed. There are always a handful of ladies there - some pretty cute - just didn't get the best vibe.
Went to Lucifer's disco on Walking street a couple times and had a great time there. Good place to hear music and pick up a Thai girl. Found one on my last night there that was a real gem. Turns out she needed to go to Bangkok about the same time I went to the airport. Great company on the trip! Couldn't ask for a better way to end the trip.

I know this is a long report, but I'm trying to provide a perspective for those who are going for the first time. Felt it wasn't necessary to go into details about doing the deed. Dynasty hotel was good. Had the premium room for 1200 baht. Basic rooms are available for 990. Location was good for me on soi 13. Halfway between Soi 7 and 8 and Walking street, but nice and quiet. Make sure you get a room away from the construction though or you'll be awake about 8:30 each day. Other places are all around. Soi 7 has a few good choices, but you must be prepared for noise. Some of them didn't have any vacancies. Recommend you make reservations in advance. It is possible to find decent rooms for 700 to 800 with a little planning.

I remember that just 6 months ago there were plenty of very attractive girls in beer-bars all around Pattaya. Even on Soi6 the ST area. But now if there are a dozen then maybe it's too much to say. Regarding Alexanders post, I must admit aswell that Superbaby is a great club with many atractive girls.

At 1 a.m. on November 12, Pattaya police were called to break up a bar fight at the Polo go-go bar in Walking Street. The fight led to property damages and police raced to the scene to control the situation.
John William, Christian Poirer and Dolatmad Nasser Nader (not shown) found out the hard way, rule #1: don’t get in a barroom brawl, especially not here, so far away from home.
Arriving at the bar officers found 3 men engaged in fisticuffs surrounded an apathetic crowd of onlookers gawking at the spectacle. Police moved in to break up the fight, and took all three men to the station for questioning.
Dolatmad Nasser Nader, 40, from Iran received facial injuries in the altercation with the two Canadians, identified as John William and Christian Poirer, both 23.
The reason behind the fight was not clear but a dispute over national differences coupled with a clear language barrier was a factor.
Police charged the three men with creating a public disturbance and causing property damages.
The bar owner later turned up with a bill for the three men claiming loss of business when 100 Chinese tourists from a tour group fled the bar because of the violent outbreak - each tourist had paid 600 baht per head to view the free shows. He said the total bill came to 127,000 baht. (We invite you to do the math and form your own opinion.)
The three men were surprised at the demand and were led off to the holding cells, as they did not have the funds to pay for the damages.

good to hear that I could be of help. That's what the forum is for.
I have had many girls from Superbaby and never payed more than 2.000 LT. I usually do not talk about money or agree on a specific amount beforehand. If any girl should ask, which is quite rare, I tell them that they will get paid by performance. This always leads to a fair deal (at least for me :))
Other guys prefer to talk about it upfront but that way I would have to stick to my word even if performance was extremely poor. Just agreeing on the services she has to provide won't help much as well. A BJ is a BJ, but like most other things there can be a huge difference between a (poor) BJ and a (fantastic) BJ. It also kills the mood for me.

It is the oldest Go Go in Pattaya (the one at Beach Road, there is another one in Walking Street) and still in biz while others had to close down. This speaks for itself I guess. They use to have very cute girls in the past but nowadays they are quite average. Nevertheless, this is one of the very few Go Gos that has a daytime shift. Some cuties there, sometimes girls who have another job somewhere else too.

just got back from pattaya about 4 weeks ago. here's a suggestion.
assuming your flight gets into bangkok in the evening, stay in bangkok one night. sumkumvit (majestic, nana hotels are good choices close to action and set you up for transport to pattaya).
book several nights in the dynasty hotel in pattaya (on soi 13). if you stay a min of 2 nites, transportation to pattaya is free. otherwise, they charge a nominal fee of 350 baht for the 2 hour ride. it is also good to ride with other guys going there for the same thing.
dynasty is 990 bhat per nite. ask for a room away from the construction. dynasty is new and situated on a relatively quiet street halfway between walking street and sois 7 & 8.
pattaya is full of action, but the guys i met there preferred those spots. sois 7 & 8 are full of beer bars. with a little walking around, you'll find a lady who turns you on and speaks reasonably good english.
walking street has the gogo bars, a bunch of beer bars and a couple discos. try em out and see what you like. you never know.
beach street has ladies available at any time - but, not really my speed. soi 13/2 has the bj bars. soi 6 has some interesting short time bars. when i went there, i saw a handful of very beautiful women.
the malls are also great places to meet and pick up a lady.
rule 1 - treat them kindly, as the lady they really are, and most will return it by treating you like a king.
recommend you check out the area. during the daytime, you can get a good feel for the places. by 4pm some of the beer bars start to awaken, by 6 - many of them are going. walking street is best after 7 or 8 until 2 am. soi 7 and 8 are good about 6 and as the evening grows later, the music gets louder and louder - it's as if the beer bars are competing with eachother.
another recommendation - get a local sim card for your gsm phone. but, many us mobile operators lock their phones to not accept another sim card. i found a relatively cheap mobile including a bunch of minutes for about $55. some would say that's a bunch, but the phone came in very handy numerous times.

Very easy, as there are so many girls. If you are hungry you will eat anything. Only problem rises if you are selective. Surely, one week will not be enough to find 18 do-able ones from beer-bars. No problem from gogos but that will also depend on your looks and financial status as attractive gogo girls can be picky because they are so much in demand.
There is an ingenious way around this, as last night I observed. This old man walks into the gogo bar. Pulls out a 500 baht (about $12) note and tips the girl nearest to her. Sure he got a lot of attention from there on. He took the best chick from that bar.
But if you are old and just can't afford that, then the process is slower and more painful courtship and forced smiles, etc. It works with some. Not as well as the cash though.
Alex - a pocket full of 20B notes and liberal distribution works, as well.
As to 18 in a week - why not? Just ask - you don't even have to buy a beer. Hot bunking might get a little tiring, though

After one day in Bangkok the counter has clicked over #95. Now in Pattaya will it be possible to find the missing five to make up 100 cunts this year?
Pattaya is getting extremely busy. Hordes of tourists and tour buses. Walking street is packed. Good news is there are some new girls in town I haven't popped yet.

While eating dinner at the markets I saw this Japanese chap with his barho. Wow! Draco - even though many mobile providers lock their phones so one can not use another companies sim or use it in another country - for a fee, you should check with your company, they will unlock it, although they do not advertise the fact.
I discovered this after my company tried to rip me for a pound sterling per minute incoming and outgoing call....meaning local calls in Thailand as well.
Anyway it cost me $35.- to unlock the damn thing.I arrived in Pattaya and my great driver took me to a mall on Nakula I think it was and for $20.- I got a sim plus enough time for overseas and local calls that lasted me the 2 weeks that I was there. Total bargain. Its always less expensive to use a local sim anywhere in the world. Believe me I have done some mega research due to the rip off nature of mobile companies.
In the Big - C mall very conveniently placed across the road from Sabai Dee massage, one can find on the 4th floor a huge nokia store and at least 50 other phone stalls. The prices of a mobile phone are more than 50 percent cheaper then the USA and Europe. But if you really don't need the phone don't bring one its a pain in the bloody arse although it does help keep in touch with your chosen few.

They have many pretty girls who work in two shifts: day time shift from 10 am to 6 pm and the night shift from 6 pm to 1 am in the night. Best time to go there is during noonday and in the afternoon.
They have a billiard table where you can play billiards with the girls. That is always great fun. Go and enjoy yourself. The girls of this bar are always fun.
And they are not expensive: 1000 Baht LT. They offer a very good service. When you are not satisfied with one of the girls you can go to the boss of this bar Khun Taffy – a Welshman – and you can make your complaint.

Had to get for myself one of them Loykratong girls. Hardest thing was to decide which color to get. There were yellow, green, pink, blue and red ones. I just went for a red one hoping that under the fancy packaging it works out allright.

For those who don't know Loy Kratong is a festival celebrated on the full moon of the 12th month of the Buddhist calendar, every year since the Sukhotai Kingdom period which was a few hundred years ago. It's a combination off Buddhist and Hinduist beliefs and the purpose is to ask forgiveness and celebrate "Mother River".
So the people make colorful floats (called Krathong) and place it on some water surface, river, ocean but as a last resort even a swimming pool, from where hopefully it will be carried down all the way to the "Milky Ocean" (in a spiritual sense).
It' a very colorful event and real interesting for the foreigner. Also it's very easy to pick up girls this time as it is preferable for people to float Krathongs as couples. A lot of the beerbar girls wear colorful traditional dresses and they can be quite photogenic, especially in groups.
The only downside is that you can't really assess their bodies properly under the thick cloth and lots of make-up so you might end up with something less than perfect when the clothes and paint comes off. However mine was quite okay this time, so no regrets there.

Sure, if they love you they will do almost everything for you and are really great persons with great characters. Sure you can visit the brothels of Korat, Khon Kaen, Nong Kai, Buri Ram and the like. If so, better safe some time and effort and stay in Pattaya cause I can't see any advantage for you. Most girls in the sex biz are from Issan, This is the poorhouse of thailand.
Pattaya is the best and worst place for looking for a wife. Expect to get disappointed, do not have to high expections. Remember, all girls that are willing to go with you are prostitutes. I do not say that they are bad, of course not, but they have seen many bad things in their life, had been betrayed and hurt a thousand times and therefore do not develop feelings for you as fast as you might do for them. You are a customer with limited amount of time. So why should she loose her heart for you ? You will leave anyway, sooner or later. I deeply believe that nobody can search for a partner, it's pure luck (or evil :D). Let it happen, you can't push it.
Due to that reason I do not believe in matchmaking agencies. They do know shit about you and mostly only try to get some money out of desperate guys. Just forget about it. It might work out, but there are also people who win in a lottery. Estimate your chances.
I would rather prefer a girl with a decent job, maybe someone working in an office or mall. But you have to speak the language and need much more time for that. I want an indepent GF/wife, not someone who stays with me just for the money and will MAYBE develop feelings later. Don't get me wrong, I believe that most girls in the biz are genuine and change into "wifey mode" quite fast. Usually honest and trustworthy people who are grateful for taking them out of the biz. But I want someone who loves me, not just grateful.

Remember, she is working in that biz because she has to support family, kids or whatever. Only very few do it just for fun.
Also do not forget to agree on a prenuptial agreement. If you intend to marry in Thailand do not forget that such an agreement is only valid in Thailand if you agreed to it BEFORE marriage. The form which you have to sign for marriage also leaves some space for it, refer to the agreement there or state the most important parts. In most western countries you can do a marriage contract at any time, that all depends where you intend to live and where a divorce is easier and cheaper in case it doesn't work out.
These all are of course my personal opinions, but after 20yrs of thailand and having been married to Thais I think I know what I talk about.
My advice, spend your holidays in LOS and if you found someone who comes along well, take her with you back home. Give her the chance to see your home and daily life. Both of you will see if you can handle it. Do it a couple of times - at least 4-5 times. That way it's not just a holiday for her but part of her life. If everything still ok then prepare for marriage. But avoid all fast decisions. Better safe than sorry.

I live and work in the Mideast and I would say that I am socially incompetent as far as finding a woman here goes - I somehow have the notion it would be easier finding a Thai wife.
Perhaps I am being totally naive,and fooling myself but who knows if I don't try I will never know...and if I don't find one then I will enjoy trying - not to forget the pitfalls that have been mentioned, talked about and regurgitated a thousand times on this board and which so far thank goodness I have managed to avoid.

The Traveler, that was a very wise response. Having lived with Thai women for quite a few years, I can agree with you that what you wrote is correct. Take your time, live with them for a while (in your home country, where you will expect them to stay), and see how it works out. After you are 100% sure that she can adjust to your way of life (and even more importantly I think, that you can adjust to hers), then you should consider marriage. If you rush into it, you are much more likely to fail.
Clandestine782, just read your response to The Traveller. I think you are looking at it from a western point of view. Do your research, first. Judging by your response about the way you expect things to work out, she's not gonna be happy. You can't force her to do something she doesn't want to do (which is work), and even if she does, since you are her husband you are expected to send money to her family. If you don't, then she will feel that you are a bad husband and neglecting her. If you are lucky, she will go back to Thailand and forget about you. If you are not, she will stay in your country and sue you for alimony (if you didn't get the pre-nup). And she will find some other guy to take care of her and send her family the money. She will be able to make a sad story seem 100 times worse than it is, and some guy will just eat it up. Research what it means to marry a Thai lady first, then think about whether to do it. In Thailand or your country, they will act the same. Don't expect them to change. They will basically still think the same. Thais (at least the ones that I have met) don't adjust very well outside of Thailand. They retain their culture and mentality and way of life. Think carefully about if you are willing to adjust to her ways. I am not flaming you, just trying to prevent you from getting hurt.
Clandestine782, your posts sound as though you have very little understanding of how Thais think, see the world, and expect to live in it, and your expectation is that the woman you marry will simply have to adjust to what you want. Simply taking the woman out of her country and expecting her to act as you please is no way to short-circuit potential problems, and instead is more likely to cause them. With all due respect: dream on. As someone who is a chemistry expert, you know well that mixing the wrong compounds, or mixing incorrect amounts or doing so in an incorrect fashion will not give the desired results. You're basically setting up an equation for failure right off the bat. The responses from both Traveler and Phuquer are dead on.
Don't get me wrong -- I think TGs can be absolutely wonderful, and I certainly understand the attraction. I have a good friend who's lived in LOS for a long time and is married to a non bar TG who has her own profession, is very fluent in English as she's studied it for years, (which is how they met) is more western in her thinking than most TGs I've met, less attached to her family than are the majority of Thais, and theirs is still a marriage fraught with explosion and the potential for missteps, even though they both clearly love each other, because of the fundamental cultural differences and understandings.
And that's not even considering the difficulties of marrying a Thai bar girl in the first place, which haven't really been stressed here, since they've been hashed and mashed ad nauseum in this forum. I'd strongly suggest reading some of the discussions on this subject here and elsewhere.

First of all I want to make clear that nothing that I have said or will say in context of that topic should be taken as an insult or looking at you as a looser or fool. I made the experience that some peoples reactions are quite strange if someone asks very personal questions or tries to look behind the obvious. Sorry if you might feel offended by what I say, but I guess you rather prefer to get a straight answer and all issues addressed straight than just some sweet talking. You asked for advice, so it's up to you to take it or leave it.
That said, I guess you got me wrong somehow.
My question why don't you get a wife in your homecountry for example, was rather targeted towards your expectations. Why do you want an asian wife and not a western one ? What kind of expectations do you have ? If you just think of asian girls as being exotic I can affirm you that this will be the case for a very short period of time. After a couple of weeks or months your fascination will be gone.
Regarding thai culture. You import her to the USA and thai culture is part of her life, therefore you indeed import Thailand into the USA. Your answer also sounds a bit selfish or short-sighted (again no insult intended), don't forget, marriage is a compromise, do not expect her to give up on everything and always agree to what you say.
Finding some work for her is a great idea. Most girls I know like to work and to earn their own money. They want to be independent and aren't the lazy asses often described here. But will you be able to find some work for her ? Given the language barrier and maybe lack of education that can be a hard task. Again, why did she work in the sex biz instead of an office in her own country where there is no language barrier ? Also do not expect her to be the perfect housewife which is waiting with your dinner at home and giving you a nice massage and BJ afterwards. That again depends on where you live. Big cities are no big deal but small villages might be quite tough for you.
I stick to what I have said, analyze your current situation and especially your expectations. Most guys are fascinated by asian women, thinking of them as exotic looking sex machines who are always horney, which also keep your house in shape and are undemanding little slaves otherwise. Forget about that.
If you aren't willing to see her as a partner and only expect her to do as you say, it won't work out. She will give it a try but run away sooner or later with more or less damage.

In my case, I was about 30 times in czech and slovak republic, I have few friends married with 2 czech and 3 slovak women, and it is not easy as they thought ath the beginning of relationship and we are speaking about people born less than 1.000km far each other.

Back in May this year while I was in Pattaya, a friend and I checked out the Alcazar show. It consisted of synchronized dance sets to lip-synched songs from each of the tourists' home countries (e.g. US, China, Japan, Korea). I went in expecting energized, acrobatic dancing and leaping about the stage, and was somewhat disappointed to see what was essentially marching around on stage.
The dancers were a mixed bunch, some obviously looked like guys and quite a few that would pass as hot women back in the States. It was fun to take pictures (photography and video were allowed, and in full effect throughout the show) and use them to mess with my friends' minds back home.
We purchased the tickets at the ticket office about an hour before the last show, plenty of seating. I forgot the exact price per ticket, but it was somewhere in the 1000-1500 baht range.
In the end, was it a good deal? I thought it was worth doing once, and it was a break from the otherwise relentless mongering spree. :)

I would also suggest, since you have mentioned that the woman doesn't necessarily need to be Thai, that you might want to look more closely at the Philippines section and possible engage with Firedick, who has a good history in both places and can give you some comparisons -- my sense is those from the Philippines have a less xenophobic streak and fewer radical cultural differences than do Thais, but mine is a sense that comes from far more limited exposure and reading as opposed to Firedick's extensive first-hand experience.

Well, here's the one place where I'd say your thinking is more in line with a Thai, in that the definition of love in LOS is generally far closer to living up to the bargain than it is western romantic love. The baseline for love is generally equated with "you take care of me and my family and the better you take care the more your love is clear." (Note that I say generally, as that's definitely not always the case, and Thai women are perfectly aware of the dichotomy.) On the other hand, your concept of what that bargain might be is fairly different than what most Thais are usually interested in, particularly with a farang, who is by definition rich, as the traditional male earns/woman supports concept is generally what's expected, with close family and cultural connections being important. But let's be clear -- the distinction of working outside the home in this case is not black or white, but western versus Thai.
Let's see, the basic equation I see is this: you are offering marriage in return for removal from family and country, a general dismissal of the importance of her culture and needs, and the promise that if she works you might contribute a little bit of money to send home to the family with whom she'll be out of contact. In return for getting her out of the bar and out of her country (or simply the latter if she's not a bar girl) she's signing on to a marriage where you may or may not care for her, don't much consider what she might be going through, but the good side of the equation is that you'll probably put up with her distress about this stuff because you like her body type. I think it's worth noting here that unlike other places, Thais are not always eager to get out of their country, and definitely don't have the sense that going somewhere else is an automatic improvement.
It frankly sounds as though the compound you are proposing to make involves sulphur trioxide and water, so I hope you've got an appropriate container.
(BTW, I know that you're using all caps to distinguish your quotes from others, but given that you know how to use colors, how about those or paragraphs as opposed to "shouting?" I would also note that overall this is a discussion that probably belongs in the Thai women section as opposed to Pattaya, not that there's much to be done about that at this point.)

You can open your eyes if you want to, or keep them closed if you want. The choice is yours. One suggestion I have is to read through the Stickman's website. He has some interesting info there. Also, read Stephen Leather's Private Dancer. I am sure others have some more interesting reading material to suggest. Do your homework first before taking the plunge. since we have met and I have seen you interacting with girls I know that you treat them well and that you do not think of them as being "bad". But saying that they are no wife material equals to that there is something negative about them, what ever that might be, just due to their profession. Therefore you did generalize, which is something I always try to avoid. I only judge people on a person to person basis, never put them into a scheme.

I have spoken to a matchmaking agency, and they told me to watch out for bargirls. So I'll take you guys' advice and just wander away from it. I was not definitely saying that I wanted to marry a bargirl. Just wondering what would happen in the event that I did as my contact here suggested and pursued one. So, the purpose of this thread was to weigh a bargirl against a matchmaking agency girl against just ditching Thailand and trying to find something in the PI where I know color is not an issue.
And one more thing (about the vaginal smell issue). One difference between Asian people and those of other races is that they have fewer apocrine sweat glands. It is for this reason that you will almost never find deodorant in Japan or Korea (and many other places in Asia). It is also, I suspect, the reason that a lot of women have that smell around their cooch. It doesn't really have that much to do with bathing. And quite a few Asian girls do have *that* smell, but MOST of them don't.

I am getting ready for my bi-yearly trip to the LOS and PP and haven't checked the forum on Asia in weeks.
I must say that I am a little bit disgusted with all these posts about this marriage crap and the flaming and racist ignorance associated with it. I am sure there are enough chatrooms on the web which cater to people who want to get married, why don't you check there.
With all due respect, this forum is supposed to be a resource for monger.
Please keep your posts focused on the main subject: what's new? what girls did you fuck/how/when/where? which bars are hot currently? what's the best/worst experience you had, with whom and why. Man, that should be easy enough.
