The boring squad are back again !

Yesterday was a good day in this section (there were no posts from the boring squad). Today, unfortunately is not so good.

They keep saying the same things again and again and again and again (yawn).

I wish these people would go away, as it would allow others to post general information on Thailand which I would be interested in reading. I think the boring squad are alienating others from participating.

don't worry, the end to it is very close.
I am tired of that shit for a very very long time, just like most here. I see that my trolls aren't open for any arguments and do not provide any themselve. It's useless to talk to them, but it's often nice to make fun out of them.

Investing in Bars in Thailand, in the actual political environment
==============================================

A few posts before a discussion was started about investing in bars in Thailand. Some thoughts regarding this issue.

Basically you have to watch two major social movements ongoing in Thailand since the Prime Minister Thaksin was elected. There is an ongoing crack-down on the sex-tourist scene to clean up Thailands image, and there is a growing adverseness against all foreigners in the country.

Though I don’t know anybody who likes the style and political results of Thaksin I expect him and his party to clearly win the next elections. His voters come from the poorer segment of Thailand, which believe his words and trust in his strength, and the rich class will anyway vote for him. He is somehow able to make people believe in him, his words, the results of his politics – despite of all the problems he faced / caused during the past few months (problem in the south, electricity problem, water problems, traffic in BKK etc. etc.). All his empty pomises are believed, and it is NOT REALLY verified whether he fulfills his promises after an election (the support for the villages, the health system problem, solving the Sukhumvit traffic jam problem, all promises not or insufficiently (tricky) fulfilled after the last election).

But - he is a strong leader, the strongest Thailand had in decades, and this is somehow also stabilizing the country. Don’t forget with all investment decisions, that the king is old and sick (I think everybody knows that), that there are rumors that the pressure on opening the new airport asap is based on the strong wish of all Thais that the king will be alive to take part in the opening procedure. This shall be next year somewhen, and gives us an indication of the life expectation (rumors!!!) for the king. The son of the king has no good reputation in Thailand, though it is getting better now since 2 years, the Thais would still prefer the kings daughter to be the next queen. But – that will not happen.

I expect Thailand to have serious interior problems when the king dies, and I will be on the way to the airport in the moment I get the news. But – to come back to the point – a strong Prime Minister could then be a stabilizing factor for the country.

After the new interior minister was implemented a few months ago everybody expected the crack-down on the night life in Bangkok to stop. But – it continued, unchanged, permanent raids in Nana and Cowboy, necessity for all foreigners to carry a ID card / passport if they want to enter a discos, delays for application for permanent residency for long term expats in Thailand etc. etc. .

The main picture:

It can be expected that the actual government will be in place for at least another 4 years, may be another 8 years. The actual trends will not change. The government does not support foreigners to run businesses in Thailand, and they want to clean up the image of Thailand. The government likes our money, but not us being here in Thailand. Thailand for Thais.

The combination of a foreigner being involved into the bar business is a very bad one for the coming years. That foreigners are targeted from two sides: As not wanted foreigners and as bar owners.

As a foreigner you will always have a visa problem. In the moment there are discussions about changing the visa laws again – to stop visa runs and chaining tourist visas. It can happen that one day you want to return from your visa run, and they give you 3 days for packing your things and leaving Thailand for the next half year. Points of discussion are: Giving Tourists only 14 days tourist visa, and allowing only 2 entries a year, (except businessmen), which normally only stay a few days for each trip.

To get around the visa problem you should in any case found a company (2 mio baht capital minimum). Then you have to employ at least 5 Thais, and you can get ONE WORKPERMIT for a foreigner.

As a bar owner you face some more problems: As soon as your bar seams to be profitable some nice men will visit you and ask you for some support. They not really define the kind of support they want to give to you, but they define very clearly the monthly amount of money they expect. They either can be police guys from the local police station, who need some “slight” increases for their salaries. But – if you have bad luck two parties will visit you: the nice guys in suites and the police. Then you pay twice. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT NOT TO PAY. You really don’t want to know “Bangkok Hilton”.

Some general advices (not complete, just what is in my mind in the moment):

- look for a lawyer whom you can trust (get lists from the embassy)
- always found a Pte.Ltd. first, before investing anything
- check all legal aspects of the investment, work laws, insurance for the employees,
to avoid breaking any Thai law
- try NOT TO GET INVOLVED in SEX TOURIST BUSINESS
- try to open restaurants instead of bars
- avoid SOI COWBOY, there are rumors that the target is to close it down and open it as a road again.
- Never ever employ working girls AND have rentable rooms inside your bar. That is
a clear sign of breaking the prostitution laws (that’s why Eden cannot use its own rooms any more)
- Do not trust Thai bar owners, who want to sell bars.

Much more to say, but no time any more.

Giotto,

Good report. I think you are right about many points but I would disagree about cutting the time of stay for tourists because Thailand depends havily on these people to keep the economy going and growing.

Also, you would have to be crazy to buy a bar. First, the prices asked are a joke and it is directly aimed at farangs. A Bar in pattaya is maybe forth 1/3 of a million baht they are asking for. What you are buying is not the inventory :D ... Where is the value then?

We all know that there is the Thai price of things and the farang price. This makes doing business there a little more tricky and it is true to some degree that Thais don't really want farangs owning business but they want the money these business would bring. I would never have a Thai as a business partner unless I knew that person very well and we had side agreements on how things would be done. On the other hand, many Thais are good at doing business and if they did not need the farang capital they would do just fine.

I heard that if you are an American you can own 100% of a company you open in Thailand (no need to have a Thai partner). I think there are some business opportunities there but definately not in the sex industry.

1ball,

I would not want to have Marc's job at Eden. If your sex biz is a cash cow the guys in brown will make sure they get a big chunk of that especially if you are a farang.

As far as the percs goes, don't you think fucking your stuff is bad for business? :D

In my opinion, you would be better off having a different biz and you can still enjoy the percs the country offers: cheap pussy with lots of variety.

Maybe a better idea for a sex biz it would be porn with a new angle that is specific to Thai girls along with a DVD for new guys presented by SA on the dangers and misadvetures of LT with a Thai girl...:D

JuiceSpike,

I also don't expect that tourist visas will only be given for 14 days - but it is / was definitely in discussion. Tourists, which could prove a longer hotel reservation during immigration should get a maximum of 30 days. But - there were administrational concerns regarding the 14/30 days visas, so it was not implemented yet. It was planned to start already in July 2004 (!).

Whatever the outcome is - don't forget the political strategy. Target is to find and remove "long time tourists", which are running illegal businesses in Thailand, especially bars. And - this government also doesn't like Kao San Road so much with all the backpackers, which stay in Thailand longer time but don't spend any money. If not the 14/30 legislation, than may be another one which also might have an impact as described below.

With all due respect for the backpacker crowd, I couldn't resist the temptation to comment on the Kao San goons.

I am not advocating Thaksin's policies, but I am not surprised that the ruling elite wants the Kao San crowd out. I will never forget the backpacker couple I saw at Tha Thien (beside the Wat Pho) boarding a boat; the girl's hairstyle was bizarre, the guy looked like he hasn't taken a shower for over a month. Dirty nails, hair all over the body, worn out shorts, flip-flops - for the first time in my life, I felt embarrassed that I was one of them. This is the image that we're trying to project! These folks stay in rundown shitholes and the goal is to survive on less than 50 Baht a day. What are they contributing to the Thai economy? Beside sitting and getting pumped up with all sorts of drugs, of course.

I remember how the two Thai girls sitting beside me eyed the couple. Not so much as contempt...but rather total lack of comprehension. They just couldn't figure out why the farang couple was dressed like that.

Another guy I met on the boat later on...a Dutch backpacker that just migrated from Cambodia. He struck up a conversation, but the only thing that was going through my mind was "bud, get yourself an anti-perspirant. These things ain't all that expensive!"

It may come across as judgmental and not all backpackers are like that, but why not buy a decent pair of pants and a nice shirt? Why not apply an anti-perspirant and a colon, esp. in a country where the weather is pretty damn humid?! Why not respect the local people and show them that you take care of yourself? The locals do a much better job than farangs.

I was pleasantly surprised at how neat the people were on the skytrain, despite the humid conditions. Here in North America, taking the public transit is a nasal torture.

Let's smarten up.

The emphasis seems to be replacement. That is to say, replacement of low spending tourists with high spending tourists. If these low spending tourists happen to be sex tourists, then it seems obvious that the government would want to replace low spending sex tourists with high spending family tourists. This is as much to do with economics as with image and sometimes these two go hand in hand.

I believe that the higher end of the market will remain unaffected and the market that supplies local demand will also not be affected. I agree with Cloud9 - any policy maker in Thailand would wish for Khao San Road to go up market or disappear altogether though I must say I do have some nostalgia for the place. In previous years, the travellers scene there was quite good.

Thailand has been hit by mass market tourism and I guess policy makers will be looking at getting the revenues that currently come from 10 million mass market tourists from a smaller number of tourists. Probably not very difficult to do.

Biz99

Just a few comments on the several themes which are being discussed right now.

On the topic of tourism and visas, the effort to bring in higher spending tourists is in full force, as the tourism numbers show the greatest increases among visitors from China and the middle east. Most of the Chinese mainland arrivals are package tours, and although the Chinese are becoming richer, the average spent per day is lower than the tourists from Europe, Australia, north America and Japan.

The Indian tourists come as families, but they also spend less but there are fewer tour group intermediaries so their money is direct spending.

The current efforts surounding tourist visas is to go after the long term stays who are working illegally and not paying any tax. Ultimately, this is more about increasing tax revenue (the goal of any government) and less about going after sex tourists, who typically spend a lot of money.

As for owning a bar, or buying any business in Thailand, I would generally agree with Juice Spike's comments, only to add that there is a whole world going on around us in Thailand that we are not a part of. I have been a long term resident, speak pretty decent Thai, and still operate with a fraction of factual information here in Thailand than I would have in the west. You would not believe all that goes on under the surface here in terms of corruption, the stealing by the elites, and the collusion between government and vested interests. It is truly mind boggling stuff and we are outside of that as foreigners.

One would need to be careful in business here (I am speaking from personal experience in that regard) and blind to buy a bar here. I know several bars that are sold or sold on a 50-50 share every year, the falang owner getting nothing for his investment.

Like most things here, there does not seem to be an integrated plan in place or coming, regarding visas for tourists. Personally, I see little prospect of altering the existing system

JackDaniels

Biz99 - you are clearly better informed than most as you live out there.

I think that the overstayers and the sex tourists who are low spenders will find themselves easily replaced by other more mainstream forms of tourism. I observed that there was quite a lot of below the surface disdain among the Thais for the the low spending sex tourist .

Hopefully young gap year travellers will still find themselves welcome and I hope that there will still be a lot of the "Asia experience" for them in Thailand. These travellers don't have a lot of dollars to spend.

On another topic, I hope other members will add more contributions to this section - by doing so, we can swamp out those who clutter up this board with their argumentative drivel.

Cheers.

WHEN IS A GOOD TIME TO VISIT THAILAND? :)

I'd say now is probably a better time than any. According to Thaksin Junior, we are "Still Not Safe!"

And well, we better hurry before the terrorism hits. After all, I think it is highly unlikely that Thailand will be a target, simply because it is such a good hideout. :)

I say bring on the terrorism. I am 100% in cash right now and I am looking for a buying opportunity!

Bush Warns Americans They Are 'Still Not Safe'

Sat Aug 7,10:18 AM ET Add Politics to My Yahoo!

By Jeremy Pelofsky

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) on Saturday warned Americans this week's terrorism alert was another sign the country was still not safe but said he was taking steps to prevent future attacks.

Alert levels were raised earlier this week for specific locations in New York City, Washington and New Jersey after a top-level review of information that al Qaeda may be plotting to attack financial institutions including the New York Stock Exchange (news - web sites), the International Monetary Fund (news - web sites) and World Bank (news - web sites).

"We're doing everything we can in our power to confront the danger," Bush said in his weekly radio address. "We're making good progress in protecting our people and bringing our enemies to account."

The administration has been facing tough questions after it became known that some of the information that led to the elevated alert was three years old.

Bush said new information gleaned from arrests in Pakistan and other new intelligence suggested that al Qaeda had recently updated information on those potential targets.

"We're still not safe," said Bush, who was spending the weekend at his family's oceanfront compound in Maine to attend the wedding of his nephew, George P. Bush, the son of Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

"We'll keep our focus, we'll keep our resolve, and we will do our duty to best secure our country," he said.

Under political pressure, Bush said this week he would name a national intelligence director to coordinate information collected domestically and abroad, a key recommendation by the commission that investigated the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Bush, initially cool to the idea of a new intelligence chief, overrode the advice of some top advisers in agreeing to appoint one, but decided to make the office independent of the White House, counter to commission's proposal.

His opponent in the race for the White House, Massachusetts Democratic Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites), has urged quick adoption of the commission's recommendations and said Bush should call Congress back from its summer break to adopt the reforms.

Kerry has also criticized his opponent's policies, saying they have failed to make the United States as safe as it could be and potentially encouraging the recruitment of terrorists to the cause against the nation.

Refuting the criticism about the latest terrorist warning, Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) said it was irrelevant when al Qaeda had collected information on possible targets because such plots can take years to carry out.

"If it takes years, they're prepared to wait for years to do it," he said at a town hall meeting in Minnesota on Friday

I read a statistic about a year ago, which showed that single travellers spend much more per person than group travellers or families.

That makes also sense from the logical point of view: tour travellers are mainly low budget tourists, and families spend the money for the family vacation, normally also limited amounts. A single travelling man (sex tourist) normally takes care of (at least) one woman each day, and spends money for food, fun, shopping, relaxation, etc. . Most of the sex tourists doesn't read this forum (especially not the SA thread) and spend a lot of money on girls, too.

Up to now the Thai Authorities ignore this facts for political reasons. The political target is understandable, too. If we were in the government (and possibly parents of daughters), wouldn't we fight against the sex tourism, if we see more than 1 Mio. girls of our country working in the sex industry?

Giotto

Gladiator
08-08-04, 06:08
I agree with Giotto's argument: the average daily budget of a sex tourist is not lower than that of other types of tourists. In Thailand, for example, I am sure it is much higher.

The reason why the government is particularly interested in promoting family-oriented tourism is because a succesful family resort can become popular over a matter of months and can attract a large number of families, resulting in an overall larger profit.

It is not a question of spending per tourist per day, but how many tourists a resort may attract and how much the overall profitability may be.

Top sex tourism resorts, such as Pattaya o Rio de Janeiro, don't become succesful as quickly as family resorts, P4P resorts tend to build their reputation over a number of years and even so they are never as popular as family resorts, even though they do generate a substantial profit and become an essential part of the local economy.

Greetings to all!

I'm on my way to LOS this September (third trip) and I had a couple of questions; I value any and all advice.

FIRST: I've been to Eden a few times, and I love it, of course. Great concept and service. It is, though, a little mechanical sometimes and all too predictable. Not to mention pricey. But I'm a group guy and I love to have two (or more) honeys at once. But it's very important to me that the girls be willing (and ideally really enjoy) each other as well. I'd prefer to try and make this sort of thing happen with BG's or freelancers. (Don't like MP's at all). What's the best way to approach this? Are there particular bars (I'll be in BKK and Pattaya) where I'm more likely to be successful? If a girl (or girls) doesn't speak much English, how do I make it clear that I want them to be with each other -- not just have one watch t.v. while I have at it with the other? I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about.

SECOND: I'm going to Pattaya for the first time. I'd like a clean, decent hotel close to (but not smack in the middle of) the action for around 1,000b or less. Girl friendly, of course. And if someone knows of a hotel with a jacuzzi tub (other than Penthouse) that's got reasonable rates, please let me know.

FINALLY, and this may be the toughest, I have a good friend in BKK who has access to a certain pleasure enhancing substance that begins with the letter e. I know that this is very risky in Thailand and I'm familiar with the laws (and the random testing). That said, however, does anyone have experience in this area with the girls? Are they up for it? How does one broach the topic? What's the Thai word for it?

Thanks, all, and I can't wait for my trip!

Gladiator,

I agree with your analysis.

The conclusion for investments in Thailand around the tourism is, that one should concentrate on businesses around family tourism, such as restaurants, family entertainment (mini golf, bowling, go-kart etc.), sport venues (diving, rafting, fitness studios etc.), SPAs (including higher level Thai- and Foot massage) and, if bigger investments are possible boutique hotels and theme parks. If it has to be a bar it should be a theme bar, something like an Irish Pub or a Sports Bar, and not a beer- or gogo bar.

This should work in the tourist centers Patong (Phuket), Chaweng (Samui), Bangkok, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai and Sukhothai. I am not sure about Pattaya: The authorities there also want to attract more families, but Pattaya has internationally such a "bad" reputation as sex tourist metropolis of the world, that I doubt it will work. Furthermore I see more single men travelers coming to Pattaya, if other sex tourist destinations like Bangkok, Patong and Chaweng try to shift stronger into family tourism.

An investment in bars or other businesses related to the sex industry is extremely risky under this circumstances.

On upper-end tourism,

"This should work in the tourist centers Patong (Phuket)"

Patong is really left out here. In Phuket most, if not all, high-end development takes place on Panwa Cape(near the aquarium) and the Southern part of the island, mainly West of Chalong.
See pic for an example.

Unless Thailand can replace the income that sex-tourists generate there will be no changes made to the sex industry that will risk loosing this crowd. The sex tourism generates a big economy for Thailand.

Also, thanks to all the farangs sending money to the barl girls houses are being build, motorbikes and cars are being sold, cows and water buffalos are being bought, business are being open, etc., in the provinces especially in the north where it is more poor.

So, if Thailand wants to curve the sex industry for farangs then they better create a new way to replace that revenue.

Maybe what Thailand needs to do is to somehow make the sex tourists industry less visible. They are getting a lot of pressure from the US and other developed countries to erase the bad reputation Thailand has with its sex industry.

Just how big is the sex industry ? Anybody have any numbers ? For example, how many tourists visit LOS and of these, how many are sex tourists - I mean visiting LOS for that purpose only ? Also how many girls work in the farang sex industry and how many supply the local market ? I understand that the latter is much bigger than the former.

Would be interesting to know.

JackDaniels,

I have no numbers about the size of the sex industry, but the interior ministry published an analysis 2 years ago, that the elimination of the sex tourism to Thailand would reduce Thailands GNP at about 1.8 %. That (Thaksin) could be easily absorbed with newly generated growth within a year.

This was then commented by several international newspapers mentioning a different analysis, which estimated, that nearly 12 % of Thailands GNP is related to sex tourism.

It should be mentioned that > 90 % of the sex tourism is generated from Asian travellers, Japanese, Koreans etc. .

Biz 99 wrote

" The Indian tourists come as families, but they also spend less but there are fewer tour group intermediaries so their money is direct spending."

Just to clarify: The Indian tourists bring a lot of income to Thailand. Thai Airways has about 25-30 flights to India, plus other airlines such as Indian Airlines, Air India etc have about similar numbers of flights. There is an 70-80% load factor (avg.). The reason being it is cheaper to fly to BKK than between two cities in India (such as Delhi Bombay RT).

Secondly, the Indian tourists going there belong to the following categories.

1. Well to do families go there for shopping trip as it is cheaper to find electronic items there than in India.

2. Young single rich business men and software (IT) professionals going there for mongering, as well as to buy name brand electronics and other items.

3. Couriers whose only job is to buy stuff and bring it to India for resale. They are paid by their handlers and as such do not spend any money other than food.

I know I am a few days late on commenting on the above, but I was in the Sin City and donating the money to the casinos. On the mongering note picked up a ho in the hotel and it was an experience best left to forgetting about it. I must have been drunk to have even thought of picking her up.

Based on the money I spent on this weekend trip, I would have been better off and beaming in the Land of Smiles and have some money left over. Thank the person up there that created this LOS.

Happy hunting folks.

I think the most important conclusion we can draw is that low end, low value sex tourism can be easily replaced.

Giotto
08-12-04, 04:36
JackDaniels,

that seams to be the target. But how can the government do that?

The government is targetting areas like Nana and Cowboy, high end areas are Soi 33, men's clubs etc. are not really in discussion in the moment, and especially in Soi 33 many new hostess bars were opening in the past few months.

It is an option (also already discussed in the government) that there will be NO LICENSES for gogo bars any more after the old ones are expired. It is anyway nearly impossible nowadays to get a gogo bar license for a new bar.

For all BKK 'virgins':

I know that all prospective newbys to BKK are told to 'RTFF'. However, the forum is very long, and most of it is taken up with detailed debate which concern experienced hobbyists and people who are lucky enough to live in BKK.

Four weeks ago I was a BKK virgin, I had read enough of the forum as time and motivation would allow. I thought it may be useful to provide a few key points, from my observations of this trip, for prospective BKK newbys:

1. Stay in the Sukhumvit area. Don't bother with hotels in other areas of the city, traffic in BKK is horrendous so travelling can be protracted. If you are mainly interested in the hobby than Sukhumvit has everything you need.

2. Ensure that you get a girl-friendly hotel & pay for double occupancy. Don't worry about hotel staff reaction, they are more than used to hobbyists and they know the runnings. There are many recommendations on this site. I personally would recommend The Somerset (Soi 15), The Manhattan (Soi 15) and The President Inn (Soi 11.1).

3. Don't bother taking girls out of the go-go bars. The go-go bars are interesting tourist diversions, but prices for girls seem to be higher there, especially when you add in a 600Bht bar fine.

The best place to choose a girl is in The Biergarten (Soi 7) or in Bus-Stop (Soi 4). Both these places are more relaxed than the go-go bars and the girls are all free-lance (so no bar fine). The key point is that in the Biergarten girls greatly outnumber chaps so you're in a real buyers market. The atmosphere is relaxed so you can walk around chat with a few girls and then make your choice.
The other advantage of this place is that they have sports on big screen, so when you're sick of the "where you from?, where you stay ?" conversation you can watch some sport.

4. I did want to see go-go bars. The first night I headed up to Soi Cowboy and quickly became very sick of being quoted exorbitant prices for girls and having to buy drinks for girls in whom I had no interest (they are v.good at getting drinks out of you).

Solution: I would go to Biergarten at around 7ish, pick up a cutie there, negotiate LT with her. Take her straight back to my hotel and do her for a few hours. Then around 10ish take her around the go-go bars with you. The advantages to this are that you only have to buy her drinks in the go-go bars (not anonymous girls who you'll never see again), the other girls leave you alone a bit more and you're maybe not quite so stupidly horny as you would have been because you just got your end away earlier. After a few hours in the go-go bars with my girl I was more than ready to take her back to the hotel again & really give her a good seeing to. - Perfect !

5. Watch out for dodgy farang in Biergarten.
Most of the fellow farang I met in LOS were great, but I did come across a few dodgy ones (more so than in Brazil). I met a guy supposedly called 'John' from Liverpool in Biergarten on 22nd July at about 5pm. He told me he was a stockbroker and lived in Phuket (yeh right). Anyway, I only spoke to him for about 10 minutes. When he was leaving he gave me 2 big hugs and was very friendly. I thought that it was a bit strange as I'd only just met him. Now it transpires that John had left without paying his bar bill. The staff all thought that he was my friend, so I had to pay - it was only 360Bht, but it's the principle that matters here.

So. 'John' from Liverpool if you're reading this - don't worry I paid your bar bill for you. I would have thought that a stockbroker could easily have afforded 360Bht. I earn that in 15 minutes at work (after tax)

6. Always, always use condoms. I found that if I went with a girl for LT she would often ask to go uncovered the next morning. Now, I know the stats on HIV in Thailand, especially amongst wg - so there's no way I would go uncovered. One girl asked to go uncovered for more money. The others suggested it, and I woke up to one getting on top of me for an uncovered ride ! I guess they thought that I'd want to see them again if they were willing to do it uncovered. Just think, if they'll go uncovered with you then they will with everyone. Even if they show you a recent medical certificate showing that they are negative for HIV antibodies, remember that HIV has 6 week incubation period. I was always fully jacketed in order to enjoy many more years of visits to LOS.

7. Prices: well I didn't go ST with any girls, so don't know about that. I paid between 1,000-1,500 for LT for girls from Biergarten. However, the best girls were the ones who said that I couldn't pay for it, I could just give them a present afterwards depending on how much I liked them. These girls were much more friendly and happy. One was so great that I stayed with her for 4 days, she did my washing, ironing and went out and got me food. She wanted me to move into her apartment. I will post about her in BKK reports later. Generally I gave the 'no price, just present girls' 2,000Bht a day.

Well, that's just my observations for BKK virgins. I'm sure that there are many here who know better and are more experienced.

It's a great little trip for anyone considering it and go now before Thaksin cleans it all up !

Kens 14, good post - thanks ! Posts like these keep this section informative and keep away the flaming and bickering that we used to see here.

I liked the biergarden on Soi 7. It is well suited for both afternoon and evening play. I did find though that its sit down arrangement did not allow you to circulate though some girls do walk around. I did not lack for company though.

What is the scene like at the Bus Stop ?

Hi guys,

I didn't know exactly where to post this. But the General Info section seemed more suited. I'm curious about how erotic picture taking & video is viewed by the Bargirls in Thailand. I must admit that last year i did take some footage (mutually agreed beforehand) of me and her shagging, and of Bj's on me etc. I know I know, I'm just a little pervert. Hands up. I admit it guys. You would'nt think i had that kind of mind for one second if you looked at me though. But i cant hide the fact that taking that footage while doing it turned me on so much, and viewing it afterwards was great. We both had lots of fun doing it (of course) and when watching it she chilled out to the idea and ended up loving the pics/vids. So we did some more for fun several times. :)

I promised her the pics and footage would'nt go any further than us two (and i've kept that promise) because her face is in view. I was nervous about asking her initially because i did'nt know what her reaction would be. I've known this Bar Girl for 2 years now, and usually keep going to her when i'm in Thailand, so we knew each other quite well and i hoped it would'nt ruin how she viewed me (because let's face it, it's a bit odd to want to do what i'm doing). I was just horny as hell and wanted to try it out. Now i'm addicted to the idea of it and want to get a bit more daring.

If i decide to go more butterfly this year (2 weeks time i'm going back to Thailand) I'm wondering how far it's accepted by your average BG's?. Last year this was down on Ko Samui. I remember in one bar, 2 other Falang came in and picked up a girl asking her if she would do this. They made it clear that they wanted to take pics and video. The Girl agreed no problem (but she was one of the more loud and brash ones). These guys were doing a full on personal porn movie it seems. The two of them with this girl. So it seems some Thai BG's are perhaps used to this request. Does anyone here also take pics/video? And if so, are there certain areas of Thailand where the girls are more likely to allow it?

Kens14,

Yes: Good informative post.

I'd like to hear more about the Bus Stop too.

Sounds like it's down Soi 4 from Nana. How far? I never wandered in that direction when I was there in February.

Thanks in advance.

Carabu,
Bus Stop bar is on Soi 4, two minute walk from Nana hotel, on the same side of the road.
Relaxed atmosphere, no pressure to buy ladydrinks and the food is also good value----cooked in front of you so no dirty kitchens to worry about. Bottle of beer is roughly 75 baht. Some of the girls wear a uniform.

JackDaniels,
A small point regarding the biergarden, if you don't like the idea of sitting at the bar simply pay for you drink when you are served and then you are free to wander around the bar until you spot a cutie. At busy periods you will have trouble getting seated at the bar anyway.

I think it's great that you want a little different taste of Bangkok. I am certain you will have a great time. Here is the web site to a dance club that I heard about through an ICQ contact. She works there as a waitress and said the club caters to mostly Thais but the pictures on the web do show a lot of Farang.

The site is http://mystiquebkk.com. I have no personal knowledge of the club so if you go then report back on it and the other places you go too. Good hunting and have a great time. The girl I met on ICQ is the girl in the yellow shirt. Su is her name.

I am arriving in Bangkok on Sep 18 and will be there until Sep 25.
I understand there is a large dental clinic in Bangkok and the prices they quote for cosmetic dental work are quite attractive compared to what you pay in the US.

I am thinking if I take advantage of their services this trip may just be tax deductible as the purpose of the trip will be for medical purposes.

Anyone ever had any dental work done in Bangkok?

Mr Butts,

For fake watches which look like the orriginals you cna go to MBK Center, or Jatujak Market. I got my fake Rolex watch from Jatuchak weekend market. They have 2 types, 1 which they classify as Bin 1 which cost 2,400Bt and looks exactly like the orriginal and the Bin 2 is 1,40Bt which some of the features are not working and look lighter and not so orriginal.

Most of the shops selling the fakes ahve the watch catalog for you to see and choose form teh amny designs and models, from rolex, tag heur, etc.

Later I was at the soi bars and there was an indian guy coming round selling those fake watches, had a seiko same like mine and willing to sell it for 400Bt! Not sure where he got it from.

Capt JB,

There is a excellent dental clinic in Sukhumvit Soi 49. I had my teeth made there a year ago.

The prices are not that low, you can get it cheaper in Thailand. But they are for sure lower than in the USA, and the quality is very high. It is a very big clinic, 40+ dentists are working there. They told me that it is the biggest dental clinic in Asia (which I cannot verify).

Lot's of customers, nearly not waiting time, really good organization.

Don't remember the name in the moment, but I can check for you.

Giotto,

Thanks for the info on the dental clinic. I am sure we are thinking of the same clinic, it's name is Bangkok Smile Dental Clinic and it's right across the street from the British Embassy. Was able to get an appointment there on Sunday morning, Sep 19.

It's less expensive to fly to Bangkok and have a few crowns made including the cost of hotel, flight, mongering, ect. than to have the same work done here in the US and for sure a lot more fun not to mention tax deductible.

If you have problems with the dental work you have no choice - you must go to a dentist at home...

Try the Q bar at the end of Sukhumvit Soi 11 (you can find it on the internet under qbarbangkok).

There is a cover of Bt 600 (I believe) to get in, but it is worth it.
Great dancing place with lots of eye candy - check out the girl behind the bar - AND quite a lot of non-pro's available.

Does anybody remember a post from the past of a guy who met a thailady and when he came home (to England) send her an email trough #his brother# that tell he has a serious infektion in his stomache and he may need an operation. He had been to hospital for two weeks and cannot answer his phone or email.

Yes I know what you thinking and I am now in Pattaya and have met a girl with the exactly same email. But I can not do a searc on the board of some reason from here in Pattaya. I have already told her to forget the creep but she still belives that is true.

If anyone can be helpful it would be nice for the poor ladyso she can start to forget and go back to buissnes as quick as possible.

I hope Jackson put in this question as soon as possible and I will go in and look daily. Maybee even write some great stuff from here.

Are a little stressed for the moment but until a report I only say Hooteys, Diamond Bar at Walking Str. and Nevada at Soi ost Office where you will find many naked buities.

Take care out there.

If you do not fit this description, we would be happy to meet a friend of yours who does. Just give them my email. ******@*****.com]

Since I do not fit most of the requirements I had to decline. Any takers? However, I have a few questions

1. This is a forum for finding pros in different places around the world and exchanging info. Am I wrong? I told him to post it in the classifieds.

2. Is this guy so desperate (sp?) that he can't find any buddies.

3. Is there a scam involved down the line?

4. Why did he join the forum for?

Am I overreacting?

Asia Hand,

I agree with you: Q-Bar is a great place.

I go there once a week since decembre 2003 and I never miss a week.
Entrance fee: 600 baht with 2 drinks included.

No shorts or slippers and it's compulsory to wear socks.

Many nice girls: farangs (cabin crews members and tourists) and thai.
Very good music and nice environment.

I have to disagree only when you say that there are quite a lot of non-pros girls.

If you refer to western girls you are right: none of them are pros.
But 90 % of thai girls in Q-Bar are pros or semi-pros. I usually go to Q-Bar with some girl I knew (friends or working colleagues) but I have many reports form my farang friends about girls picked up in Q-Bar claiming to be students or well off thai girls that the morning after (or some days after, in some cases some weeks after) turning to reveal themeselves as pros or semi-pros.

Greetings friends, I've longed felt that Thailand is a great place to undergo medical procedures at cheap prices. I've had my teeth done for half the price it would have cost me in singapore. FYI;

I just wanted to put my two cents in on the passport thing. I did some research and you need to carry a copy of your passport with you at all times. I have always been told to put my passport up and not carry it unless I know I will need it. I do carry my D.L. usually but with this information about the police and stops I will also carry a copy of my passport also.

One other thing, I have been told that it is best to also have a copy of your Birth Certificate and Passport tucked away in your suitcase. If you loose your passport then you can go to the embassy and get a temp. Fewer questions and less hassel.

Safe hunting and have fun.

If you going to do any medical procedure in Thailand, stick to the hospitals like Bumrungrad or Samitijev, and avoid the clinics.

The hospitals employ only the best doctors from what I've been told by Thai locals. I've had great experiences at both of these places. Good luck.

I recently visited my cousin in Hawaii who is also a Doctor and has visited Thailand. I was spending some time catching up with our lives and the topic of Medical Plans came up. He was very familiar with Bumrungrad Hospital but his only concern and warning was that " Don't get real sick " because the blood supplies check is not very good based on the reading he has done from the American Medical Journal articules. Of course this is only one persons opinion but I plan to visit again in October and plan to do some research into this when I'm in Bangkok.

Thank you everyone for the info. Prices I seem to get range from US2000 - US2500. They all seem to specialise in gender transplants though, and considering the price(and the fact that it's a surgical procedure), perhaps I better just play it safe and do it here in singapore.
After all, if something goes wrong, I'm not sure what recourse I'd have considering the language barrier.
Thanks anyway guys.

The last time I checked Bumrungrad Hospital website, it was about 1500 USD for lipo. This was about a year ago. Never did get the time to get the procedure done, but I saw a Discovery/Travel Channel show where they were showing plastic surgery procedures done at this and another hospitals. There was no negative comments in the show. Take it for its face value.

*******,

Bumrungrad is a well known international hospital that is accredited by US standards. I have been there for a root canal and for dehydration and always received professional and inexpensive services. The hospital has state of the art medical equipment and I'm sure they have some kind of insurance for mal-practice. You could check on this if you are planning something major. Also, many doctors speak English (many educated overseas) and many of the staff and nurses do as well.

The hospital markets to foreigns so they are set up for this.

Duniawala, that US1500 price was for 2 years ago. I emailed them and they reckon it's closer to US2500. That price is roughly equivalent to what I'd expect to pay down here in s'pore.

Juice, point taken. If the price difference was significant, It would definitely warrant a trip to Bangkok.

IMO if your main purpose in coming to Thailand is to have a significant medical procedure done at Bumrungrad you might want to think twice about it. Bunrungrad's prices for many procedures are rising so quickly that financially you may well be better off having the procedure done at home.

I had looked into having an inguinal hernia repaired at Bumrungrad using a laparoscopic/mesh procedure. They wanted well over 100,000 baht (3000 USD). That is significantly more than I would have to pay out-of-pocket with the current insurance plan that I have (I am self-employed). Even when I factored in the potential medical deduction for the trip it still did not make financial sense for me.

Needless to say, Bumrungrad's prices put a quick end to any thought of going there for me. However, if you do not have health insurance or if you are looking at elective surgery that is not covered under your current health insurance plan then Bumrungrad is definitely an option.

BTW, I also checked out a couple of international hospitals in Phuket and Pattaya and they wanted only 40,000 baht total to fix my hernia. That included everything......surgery, doctor fees, hospital fees, tax, meals and a private room for two days. Unfortunately, they did not want to use the newer laparoscopic procedure to fix it. Caveat Emptor.

foreign porn-director-wannabe beaten

duped participant enraged over ‘discount’

boonlua chatree

it all went horribly wrong for all involved. what was apparently only intended to be a risqu้ taping of sex acts between consenting adults ended in four arrests, and one man brutally beaten.

fischer was beaten by aspiring porn star rachanu saenjantr and her friends after he allegedly attempted to pay only one-fifth the agreed upon price for her starring role in his x-rated video.

friedrich johannes michael fischer, 54, from obertstdorf, germany was severely beaten after he refused to pay an agreed sum of 5,000 baht to a 26-year-old woman he filmed in an x-rated video inside his home.

police were called to the kamolsuk home village, off pattaya third road, shortly after midnight on august 10. they arrived to see the man still being beaten by a thai man and two women. police moved in to break up the melee and detained all.

fischer suffered severe bruises during the beating at the hands of samart sarnram, 33, sompong sarnram, 22, and the wannabe porn star, rachanu saenjantr, 26. the latter told police that two others had fled before police arrived.

rachanu saenjantr told police that she had agreed to have sex with the german while he taped their activities. she said they had agreed on the price of 5,000 baht and when all was said and done, fischer paid her only 1,000 baht. she demanded the tape, which fischer refused to hand over. angry, she called her friends in to extract the money, one way or another.

officers confirep001ed a digital video camera and a computer used for editing, then viewed the tape of the explicit footage. they charged rachanu saenjantr, samart sarnram and sompong sarnram with trespassing and grievous bodily harm. friedrich fischer was charged with taping lewd activities.

police escorted him to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries, and then returned him to the station for further processing

I am making my first trip to the far east ever in a couple of months. I have read the forums but I am a little confused.
What is the difference in service with the body soapy Massage places and the traditional thai massage places. I know that there is thai massage but are all the services included in both?
Which do mongers recommend better?

thanks

Joe Zop
08-31-04, 20:54
There are tons of traditional Thai massage places, and that's generally what they offer -- traditional, non-sexual massage. Yes, some of these places have ladies who will offer sexual services, but it's generally hit or miss and it's also possible to offend someone in some places by asking (though rare.)

Soapies are basically always sexual.

As far as recommendations :D, well, it depends on what you want. I confess to probably having had far more traditional Thai massage than soapies, but they're for entirely different purposes. From a monger perspective, I think traditional massage is better for getting the whole body loosened up and relaxed after a day of walking around in the heat, but if you want to make sure your love muscle gets softened, use the soapy.

JuiceSpike,

Yes I fully agree, when I was in bangkok on long term work assignment, my body was all aching over from over work moving many heavy machinery during the transfer from another country to Bangkok.

So went few times for a tradisional thai massage and sure works great and all muscle and body pains relieved.

It cost us 200Bt for 1 hr and $300Bt for 2 hrsw, so we most of the time went for the 2hrs. No hanky panky this one and both parties are fully clothed !! Customers ahve to change to a pajamas full suit pants and shirt.

For those with tired andaching mucles and body, strongly go for the thai traditional massage. Most of them do display their certificate to show they are genuine where their masseurs go for some training school in traditional massage before they are allowed to perform on customers.

For first timers, you sure have a hell of a pain especially when they twist your body. But after that you feel so relieved.

Asthe others have posted, Tradional massage normally means no sexual services, and it has been that the best places for Traditional massage substitute the sex for a better Thai massage. Other places which focus more on a happy ending are almost any massage shop in Sukhumvit Plaza (soi 12) except for The King and I, and Happy Massage on soi 19.

Almost any oil place will offer a happy ending, and seeing as you are naked for that, the transition is easy. Barons is a good one, and so is Angel Massage.

Hope this helps

My experience with "Traditional" massage in LOS has been different. A few years back I stayed in a 4 star hotel that had an athletic club and massage services. At the end of the massage, the gal offered me everything and I settle for BBBJ. In Chang Mai this year I went to a MP recommended in Lonely Planet, Let's Relax, and again was offered the "hot oil" special at the end.

The only place I haven't been offered extras was at the Massage School at Wat Po.

Liquor is cheaper in BKK. Especially during off-season, when they have a lot of promos. There are two duty free shop is in the baggage claim area (if you miss the ones in the terminal). They are located at the two far ends of the hall.

Buying in BKK also saves the hassle of carrying it all the way from HK. Also, I found that the prices in the local shops 7-11 and other convenience stores to be not that much higher.

Have a good party.

Beansed, Duniawala,

Thanks for the info on liquor in BKK. I will just wait til I get there and avoid having to carry it around.

I had asked that question because liquor prices in Hong Kong are a lot less than in Singapore as Singapore must tax the hell out of it.

Thanks again

Although this is not the board for this type of questions, I am sure some mongers do occasionaly to the tourist things. The following is my experience having lived in both worlds.

In the West jewelry is priced by design. I SE Asia and S Asia most of them are priced by material, weight and labor. Only the upscale shops use the western method. So you can find a lot of good designs at a much lower price. Or you can get custom designed pieces at low prices as they charge a low labor rate.

Having said that, you must know what you are buying. If you don't know how to tell the difference between 14 carat and 22 carat gold, chances are that you will be ripped off more than 50% of the time. Go with a shop that is recommended by known people. Singapore is the safest as the government there keep a tight control on the quality. If you get ripped off you can get justice by complaining to the police.

Sam - again - not the type of question for this board - but - Dun is correct - metal price (by weight) plus some charge for labour. Cheap gemstones in Chantaburi Fri, Sat and Sun (gem market) BUT - You BETTER KNOW what you are looking at!! (Cannot overemphasise that)

Can't say much about the European cost since I know US cost, though is about 50 to 200% higher depending on what you want. Even less for "custom" copies.

Virtually everything is cheaper in LOS - especially "affection"

Thank for the answer but i already know it.
I was 9 times in Thailand but i forgot the prices of gold (and i never was interested before).
This is the right forum bec my friend will marry a thai lady soon
(my opinion = crazy) and like many thai ladies she asks gold-gold-gold!!!! But at least the rings he has to buy!!!!
My exact question is:
Where is better buy the rings????
Europe = gold18 k 22-24 euro/gr (labor included)
Thailand????
In internet i found about 15 euro/gr 23 k

You can be ripped off at home too but i agree, more possible in a different country.

Sam 007.

New Wave is a pool bar on Sukhumvit Soi 7 (BTS Nana).

Less than a one minute walk from the main road on the right hand side, and on the left-hand side, a little further on the same soi is the Soi 7 Beer Garden.

Both are full of freelancers, the beer garden has more girls, but also many more customers, New Wave has less girls but of a higher quality (IMHO) and of course pool tables.

Hot Sam, was just in LOS last week, and I think 1 baht of gold is about 7,000 Baht. (note I said, about)

The baht of gold is a unit of measure they use, and equals 15 gr.

Gold is a commodity traded on the world market, and it should cost abt the same in most countries. The advantage to buying gold in LOS, is the labor charges to make the item are very low.

Gentlemen,

Excuse my intrusion here. Just for comparison, gold (18-24k) runs about 42 Dirhams per gram in the United Arab Emirates. The exchange rate is fixed at 3.6 something UAE Dirhams per US Dollar.

Jewelry is sold by weight, with a bit, perhaps 5-7% tacked
on for "craftsmanship." I find items in Dubai are 25-30% cheaper than something similar in Europe. YMMV.

Cheers,

HotSam,

Golden rings that sell for €400+ in my European hometown, go for as little as €50 in auctions...
Thai goldshops often have scales where you can weigh your gold before offering it for sale - weigh some of your own and ask for a price and work from there.
Labour cost is low in Thailand, compared to US and EU anyway, and it is wise:) to always take that into account!
Also, gold prices in Baht are listed in the BKKPost on a daily basis.

minor correction :
The unit in which gold is sold in Thailand is BAHT, just like the currency.
One baht of gold is exactly 15.2 grams.

The Traveler et al,

One baht weight of gold equals exactly 15.244 grams. Be careful that you get what you are thinking you are getting, especially regarding the purity of the gold. As you probably know most gold necklaces, bracelets, rings etc. sold in Thailand is advertised as being either 22 or 23 karat (24 karat being pure gold). Often times the gold jewlery is not as pure as advertised even though it is stamped 23 or 24k. Buy from a reputable business that has been around a while.

The Traveler
09-15-04, 01:21
VChip

You might insist that they check the purity of the gold. Every gold shop has the necessary equipment. They will rub of a bit of gold from the necklage, ring or whatever (with a "black stone") and put some acid on it. The stronger the acid, the purer the gold. The different bottles are usually marked with the purity.

Carpenoctum,

I unlocked my phone from T-mobile, a Samsung that was given to me for free here in the U.S. when I signed up for their 39.99/mo 1000 min. plan. I just called them (611) to verify my phone was compatible internationally and they gave me the code to unlock it for free. The only thing is you will lose protection if someone gets a hold of your phone and makes calls without permission. It is very expensive to roam internationally and you will often get spam calls which may or may not be mistakes. It is cheaper to buy a new or used cell phone from Mahbookong shopping center and have them activate a phone card of your choice.

Border runners to show 10,000 - 40,000 baht on re-entry

10,000 - 40,000 cash up-front for both tourists and Non-Immigrants
Old ministry regulation goes into effect on Oct 1, 2004

BANGKOK: From October 1, 2004, Thai Immigration will enforce an old regulation from October 2000, that requires border runners to show evidence of cash upon re-entry to Thailand. The "new" regulations are:

- 30 days "on arrival" entry 'walkers': 10,000 Baht (family 20,000 Baht)
- 60 days Tourist visa holders: 20,000 Baht (family 40,000 Baht)
- 90 days Non-Immigrant visa holders: 20,000 Baht (family 40,000 Baht)

According to Section 14 of the Immigration Act, this declaration is not valid for children under the age of 12.

Only cash counts. Credit cards, bank books, bank statements. ATM receipts, cashiers checks etc. are not considered valid evidence of cash.

Foreigners are concerned about bringing large amount of cash over the border and back.

The "new" regulation has recently been posted at several border points in Northern Thailand. The photos below shows the new enforced rules, and is taken from the Mae Sai border point in Chiang Rai.

Here are the Interior Ministry's "new" entry regulations going into effect 1 October 2004

playboy ii - to get the best deals (but you need to know what you are doing) you need to go down to chantaburi fri, sat or sun and go to the gem market area (fri, best selection, sun best prices). somehow find a reputable "broker" (i got lucky on my first trip a while ago and deal with the same broker), sit down (open covered pavillion) pull up an examination tray and view what they bring you to show. (learn to say "mai ow, krup" a lot) negotiate on prices, but you really need to have an idea of what the price/quality level is (prices are negotiated based on a "per carat" price - the broker is usually pretty knowledgable about what the "going rate" is.) most of the "thai" gems are ruby and sapphire (not much else native) and certainly not alexandrite. as with almost anything, the "locally produced stuff" tends to be less expensive than "imported". you will get more "respect" from the gem sellers if you have the appropriate equipment - loupe, light source (i use a small fluorescent flashlight), a caliper to measure, and a set of tweezers - although most brokers (the middleman) will have tweezers for you to use, as well as (of course) the knowledge of what you are looking at.

the stuff ranges from cheap to absolutely exquisite quality - and everything in between. this is truly the "wholesale" market, but you will need to buy enough to make the supplier happy at the price. caveat emptor - you pay cash (there are atms available in the area). you bought it, it's yours. some settings are available form the local gold shops (some silver available as well) but for some reason (it's because 23k is a lot softer and more maleable) they are pretty much unwilling to work in 18k or lower (almost impossible to find a goldsmith willing to do 14 because of the extra labour)

the trouble with krung thep (bangkok) is that the number of scam jewelers far outnumbers the "real" ones - and stay away (stay far away) from the "large" jewelry houses who advertise in tuk-tuks or baht busses - you pay a premium price (yes, it's all "real" - just what is advertised) and get stuff not that much different from what you would get from "lower cost" reputable suppliers - just a lavish showroom and "free drinks" (whoopee).

if you go to chantaburi (6 hour bus ride from bkk) be prepared to pretty much be alone - i have had essentially zero success at finding companionship (i can't even locate the ubiquitous brothel which must be there) and the "door knock" and offer that seems so pervasive in other parts of thailand just wasn't there (of course, they might have assumed that "falang mai pood pasa thai" (which is only partly true in my case - pood thai, mai pood dee - not a large enough vocabularly))

anyway - that's my 2 baht worth of on and off topic

Zoning directive spells end of late-night drinking

Published on Sep 18, 2004

Deputy Interior Minister Pracha Maleenont yesterday vowed to strictly enforce closing times of night entertainment venues now that the new entertainment zoning law has taken effect.

The Interior Ministry directive designating zones for entertainment venues in Bangkok and the rest of the country took effect on Thursday.

The directive also prescribes the closing times of entertainment places in and outside the zones.

Pracha said the directive designated zones for entertainment places in Bangkok and 49 other provinces, while banning the opening of new entertainment venues in the 26 remaining provinces.

The three designated zones in Bangkok are Silom (including Patpong), Ratchadapisek (including Royal City Avenue) and New Phetchaburi roads.

New entertainment venues will be allowed to open only in designated zones.

Pracha warned that the authorities would check on venues more frequently to ensure that they comply with the closing times now that the directive had taken effect.

Sujarit Pajchimnan, director-general of the Local Administration Department, said the directive defined entertainment venues into five categories, as follows:

lNightclubs and bars inside the zones are allowed to open from 9pm to 2am, while those outside can stay open from 9pm to midnight.

lLounges and teahouses both inside and outside the zones are allowed to open for two periods, from 11am to 2pm and from 6pm to midnight.

lModern massage parlours in the zones are allowed to open from 12 noon to midnight, while those outside the zones can open from 6pm to midnight.

lPubs, discotheques, cafes, restaurants with live bands and cabarets in the zones are allowed to open from 6pm to 1am, while those outside the zones can open from 6pm to midnight.

lRestaurants with live music both inside and outside the zones are allowed to open from 6pm to 1am.

A ministry source said it might designate restaurants that offer recorded music as a new category of entertainment venue, but officials are still considering appropriate opening and closing times for them.

I'd guess that there will be a lot more action in the streets. They'll probably be lining up on Sukhumvit so deep you won't be able to walk by the Starbucks.

I'm not sure if this is the Thai way of getting more bribes, or do they really think they can be Singapore? Who is going to be open from 9pm to midnight?

A while back there was a discussion about having health insurances when travelling to Thailand. If you have American Express (blue or standard) you can buy travelling insurance that covers almost the entire world (includes Thailand). No deductible is required.

The insurance cost $110.00 USD a year and it covers up to $100,000 USD in medical, surgery, prescriptions, dental and accidents. It does not cover treatment for an existing illness. It also covers the costs of shipping you back if you die there... hopefully you won't need this coverage :).

I think it's smart to have some kind of medical insurance when travelling.

Actually, I can be of assistance. I am a travel agent. Travel Insurance would not cover the situation below unless it were an emergency and could not wait for a day or two for you to travel home. The insurance company has the option of repatriating you for the surgery. Their liability ends when you arrive to your home.

When an emergency arises, you must contact the insurance company and they determone what action you should take and what action they will take to minimise their exposure.

Duni,

I met this American doctor who works out of the leading hospital in BKK. I forgot the name of the hospital, but it is located near Nana Plaza. He said that this hospital carries the accreditation that all US hospitals do. They are building a medical tourism business where they attract foreigners to come over and have procedures done. He said that a bypass costs $9000USD versus $50K in the states.

The Dubai police department contracts this hospital to provide health care for its force. The cops come over for their annual check up and spend money shopping and mongering. And its still cheaper than healthcare in Dubai.

I must say for those of us from Hong Kong with access to cheap, almost new pussy in Shenzhen (U$13-20 a pop) Bangkok holds no attraction. I spent the 6 nights in Bangkok last week and didn't indulge, not once!

I stayed at the Pan Pacific near Robinson in Silom. Its popular with the Japanese. I saw a group of 4 with 4 very good looking *****s walking the short walk of shame by the Reception on the 23rd floor to the glass elevator. Guess they took courage from being identified at a group.

It must be pretty awkward; first walk (30 yards) past the security at the lobby in the ground floor, take cover from the cameras in the elevators to the 23rd floor and then do another short spell (12 yards) of the same.

Member 2702,

I'm not sure where you intend to get a BBBJ at the airport? There are only two parlours in the International Transit Area, and they are completely public setups. It's just a bunch of recliners crowded together with barely space for the masseuses. There aren't even curtains, so anything more than a legit massage would be impossible.

I go through there a lot, so, if you can tell me I'm wrong, and where to go for this service, please do.

Coma Boy

Member 2702.

There is a more private massage place at Don Muang.

It is somewhere after going through immigration on the second floor. The information desk should be able to point you in the right direction.

I sometimes go there to use the showers, but they also offer a massage service. On several visits the massage staff have offered me a little extra (HJ) but I have never taken them up on the offer as I really just wanted a hot shower before flying.

You are probably best off leaving the airport and having a taxi take you somewhere else as I'm pretty certain you won't find the BBBJ you are seeking.

True, no-one "needs" to use an escort service as girls are so readily available.

But, if you want a higher quality girl, escorts services are the easiest way. (Or upmarket karaokes).

I love bar-girls but even the hottest bar-girl is of a low standard by Thai standards.

Some Thai friends of mine in Bangkok use escort agencies The girls are always very hot, young, educated, pale skinned and have not yet had kids or tattoos.

I'm more than happy with most bar-girls, plus I love picking up in a bar atmosphere but if it's high quality you're after, and especially if you don't want to leave your hotel room, pick up the phone!

If you go to the INternational hotel ,Bangkok,in terminal 2 i think(departures) there is a health centre or massage place advertised close to the Business lounge.

This is where all Indian Airlines business class passengers go to(the name of the lounge eludes me).I used this facility when i flew Indian Airlines to India recently

Ask the lady at the desk to show you the room or chair where she is going to give you a massage before you take it.

When she is showing you the room( a matteress on the floor with a stringy curtain or a chair with half doors) i opted for the chair, that is the time to ask her about extras.

She will then advise you to take a manicure/pedicure which i think is the cheapest and give the rest to her for the deed. She will blow oyu there. Not a great BJ but if you are real horny for a parting shot then and then only is it worth it.

I think it was quite expensive given the rate in bkk city. I think it was 1500 bhat.

Anyone know if you can get online to any online casinos from Thailand?

I was thinking of buying a laptop to take with me on my next trip so I could earn some money while getting bj's :) I don't want to waste the money if it's not gonna be useful though.

Also, will I have any problem taking a computer through customs? I think the poker software uses encryption. I'm not sure if it's illegal to take out of the country, and I'm not sure how that works: how they would check for it anyway.

Joe Zop

Aces, nobody's going to check your laptop in Thailand -- just make sure you declare it coming in -- and the encryption thing isn't an issue either, as you're talking about your own personal property, not something for sale.

A few tips: (others please amend as appropriate)

-Bring an extra 6' or greater phone line

-Find out which of the two phone systems your hotel uses

-Buy the appropriate 'internet card' from a 7-11 or the like

-Should compare #hrs / Baht

Aces In Hole,

"I'm not sure if it's illegal to take (the program-F) out of the country, and I'm not sure how that works: how they would check for it anyway."

The solution is called the internet. We use it everyday. Simply email the program to yourself or put it in some Group or community and download it when you need it.
You will need a Thai ISP to avoid huge telephone bills!

'nobody's going to check your laptop in Thailand'
True but not true. If you get caught up in any kind of trouble that brings police over, they may check anything from your immigration status (the first thing they do) to your computer's contents - they would be looking for porn, but you never know...

Dear fellow-members,

I have a flight to Bangkok. Via internet I bought a ticket for a connecting flight to Cambodia.

My plan was to leave my luggage in Bangkok in a locker and pick up my ticket at the Bangkok ticketing counter.

Do I have to exit first, pick up my ticket and drop my luggage and, here comes my question, pay the exit fee that everybody has to pay when he leaves BKK?

Your suggenstions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

William3, Unless you can check-in for both flights at your origin, i believe you will have to clear immigration and customs. Once you exit customs, you have no choice but to pay the terminal fee, 550Baht, prior to going back through immigration on the way to Cambodia.
As for luggage storage, there are no lockers, instead they have a storage room, where you pay for 24hours periods. It is located between the Terminal 1 and 2 on the Departure level.

William3,

I'm sure there are transit desks in the international area.
Only if you take a guided tour to the city you don't have to pay departure 'service tax'.
If you want to go through Thai immigration, make sure you have a visa if you require one!
Check with the Thai embassy in your home country for visa requirements.

Based on a global sex survey here is how Thais did: (highlights)

1. Thai lovers have sex an average of twice a week.
2. Thais spend less time on forplay than any other nationality – only 11.5 minutes on average.

3. Up to 61% of Thai women pretend to have an orgasm at least once a year.

4. Thais prefer to watch pornography over using sex toys.

5. Almost 1/2 of the Thais have sex without knowing the sexual background
of their partners.

I agree with your part about treating the girls nicely. I've found that respect will generally be rewarded. Many of the P4P girls are just trying to put food on the table and make a living. Some guys refer to them in unflattering terms and this reflects on the name caller more so than the girls. We all know what they do for a living and I also know who does business with them, us.

I don't see supporting a girl either. I always stress price controls and make sure I get what I paid for. It's dumb to throw money around and over spend. If you feel good wasting money, go to a casion and lose it.

If a girl works hard and puts forth a good GFE, she will get a tip. If she really acts super nice, super sweet, and honeymoonerish, then I take her to dinner also.

Hi,

I have a friend in Bangkok whose Thai girlfriend is pregnant. They both want her to have an abortion, but abortion is illegal in Thailand, so they don't know where to go. He doesn't have a computer in Thailand, so he asked me to help.

Of course, they want to go to a safe place to do this, a very real and very good doctor, not some alley. Money isn't an issue, they just want it done safely. If anyone has any advice about where to go to do this, or a link to a website with good information, anything, I'd really appreciate it. I've heard that some hospitals might do it if you pay them enough, but which hospitals?! Thanks. If you don't want to post a response on this board, you can PM me. Thank you very much for any good advice you can give.

Thanks. The problem is, and I'm not sure about this, but I think she doesn't want to go to Cambodia or Vietnam to do it, places she's never been before. Money isn't a BIG problem, but I think flying to the US or Europe might be, it would all end up costing thousands of dollars. So if it were possible do to this safely in Bangkok, that would be by far the best solution.

Thanks again for any tips.

Can anyone tell me about the CENTRE POINT, Silom (Riverside). I understand that they are service apartments, but are they girl friendly? Though the price for a single and double occupancy is the same, it seems a bit fancy from its pics, and I hope there is no problem from the hotel security staff. Would much appreciate any feedback.

Just returned from a 2 week trip to Germany and had time to sample the women over there. This being my first experience in Europe, thought I would post some observations:

1. Germans are more comfortable with public (?) nudity and their bodies than Thai. This goes for both males and females.

2. Quality of girls from looks and bodies are in my opinion about the same.

3. GFE experience: FKK clubs limited to an hour at max. Thailand: as long as we want it.

4. It was nice to bonk women from many countries Russia, germany, Ukraine, Lebanese etc. etc. In Thailand limited to few neigboring countries.

5. Russians in Thailand are from bottom of the heap. Why would they come to Thailand for a few Euros (baht) when they could make a lot more in Germany.

6. Sexual attitudes when one is alone with girls are pretty much the same. SOme are enthuastic while others treat it as a boring job.

7. Ugly girls are available both sides. The georgeous ones available both sides. However, looks are on the eyes of the beholder.

8. You save a lot of money in Thailand. What I spent on two nights in the FKK clubs I could have used it for over two weeks in LOS.

Bottom line. Overall LOS has the best value for the money. I just love the TG cuties.

Just waiting for my next trip to LOS in January. God, that is too far away!!

To each his own, I also visited both countries, Germany both Rhein Ruhr and Franfurt area as well as Pattaya and Bangkok.

There are merits and advantages to both countries and to truely know what is best one must see a great variety of clubs and not judge the country by one visit to a few points of interest.

Variety:
Germany rules this as the flavors are limitless while in Thailand you are limited to Thai's, im not counting the minut Russians nor the bleaching of hair by Asian gals the point is the place is 99% Asian.

Germany on the other hand has women from all over the world, not to mention also Thai women.

Skill Level:
I found all the women I encountered in a 10 day trip to Pattaya and Bangkok with the exception of the women at the Eden club in Bangkok to be lacking sex skills. Oral is rare, wanting the lights out is also a huge turn off while in Germany the lights ALWAYS stay on. While in Germany I found the women to appear to enjoy sex, I felt that in Thailand it was a job and work for them. A big portion of the women I found just lay there in Thailand and let you do as you wish. While in Germany the women participated.

GFE and what it means to us:
While some guys seem to think GFE is what you do with a girlfriend to me it only relates to SEX. This means to me a woman that has no barriers and appears to be into the act just as much as you. BBBJ, DFK and DATY are standard as why would your girlfriend ban or set barriers for you? I found Thailand to offer me the turn the lights out, get und the covers and snuggle sort of thing while in Germany it's no covers hope on the bed or even before you get to the bed a great bbbj starts. While I also experienced this myself many web sites report 50% or less Thail women performing oral as opposed to 100% women in Germany's clubs do it. What is sex without a good blow job?

You don't go t Germany expecting to take the girl out to go shopping or see a movie like in Thailand. If you're into that sort of thing then Thailand is your place. Germany is about HOT, QUALITY SEX and as close to a porn star experience as you can get. Facials, anal, BBBJTC, 69, DFK are all available from some women that pride themselves in providing a satisfying experience.

In Thailand I found some sweet girls with average to below average skills, but then on the other hand they were into the shopping, dinning thing which is not why I flew 30 hours one way. Another issue by the way is the airfare and time to get to these destinations. From the US you have 24 hours plus to get to Thailand while ermany is 8-15 hours one way. You lose several days going to Thailand and that is money to me.

Lodging, food and costs:
While I spent more in Germany for the average session the sessions were better in Germany then Thailand thus the cost was worth it. Food is dirt cheap in Thailand $5-$10 gets you pretty much everything. Probably double that in Germany, but hey I rarely spend money on food as all the clubs I visited included food and drink in the entry. While ladie drinks and bar fines added up in Thailand to my tab. Hotels were double the cost, as in Germany I paid about $40-$60 a night and at the Nana Hotel in Bangkok I paid $20 a night. Prices in Pattaya were a bit higher. Not all sex is cheap in Thailand and clubs and MPs' can run as high as $75 a session plus most of thw women bothered me for a tip even after paying that. In Germany club entry costs run about $40 - $85 but this is for the entire day and once inside most girls cost about $50-$70 for a session. When I figure this into my $400 Germany airfare and my $800 Thailand airfare the math does not make much difference and Thailand costs go up for a place that takes 4 days travel time to get to and from plus the added expense of higher airfares.

Conducive to SEX:
While in Germany you enter a club, undress, wear a towel and lounge around the club filled with sometimes hundreds of totally naked women. You can observe many having sex in public which gives you an idea of skill level and what they look like UNDRESSED. This often takes place in day light or well lit areas for all to see. No you don't have to do it in public it's only an option and on one hand proves the point that sex is no big deal in Europe. While in Thailand the girls turn out the lights, undress in the bath room and enter with a towel covering them, they slip under the covers and it seems like they are hiding something. I like to see what im going to have sex with, STD's and other issues are not to be played with or taken lightly. Thailand has 3 times or more the rate of STD's and HIV as Europe. Go read the stats, Germany has some controls and medical checks while Thailand girls, mainly freelancers have none at all. Finding GOOD sex in Thailand is prohibitive by the same thing guys think makes it so good, the masses of women. So many that the problem lies in finding (1) that is good at sex. Any woman that needs money in Thailand can start hooking, while in Germany the good ones prevail and the bad ones don't last long the clubs govern this law. Clubs stand to won and lose from poor providers. Even in the MP's of Thailand when I told th Mamasan about poor service she offered another girl and no refund. When money changes hands in Thailand it's gone. While in Germany when I complained I was handed my cash back. I got tired of visiting hundreds of clubs and looking thru thousands of faces, keep in mind that you can't see what is under the clothes they wear (except at the gogo clubs). Even at the MPs' the women hide their bodies and you pay FIRST. In Germany you pay the girl after the session.

I like both countries, Thailand and Germany, but unless I have lots of time Thailand is too far and takes too much effort to find good service. Even at the cheap rates I have only enough juice and time to waste, I don't want to have to try 20 girls to figure out which one is worth my time. Germany is closer and my batting average is 100 times better, I pay more but I get what I want almost every time. I can have women from all over the world in one club. I cann see them all naked (even this is a great show without the sex). The women want you to do them again and again so they merit themselves with providing a service you will remember.

Economies:
While Thailand is mostly poverty with a dirt cheap currency Germany is a western country with standards like the US. The women enter prostitution out of dire need to help family in Thailand while in Germany it's mainly for self support. Many of the best workers swing and authentically enjoy sex. They are more picky about customers while a few men pick over thousands of thai women the option to reject a customer no matter how old, ugly, disgusting etc. is less. It's a matter of life or death in Thailand, not in Germany. In Germany some of the best women drive BMW's and Porsche cars while in Thailand they earn a few dollars. Fake ID's can be bought on street corners for less then a song $1 to be exact. Now how can we trust a young girl who's family is starving that she has not bought one of these $1 ID's and is working at the age of 14? Now I know that Asian women look younger but it crosses
you wander the vast beer bars and freelancers and are not controlled by anyone.

As per sake of comparsion if you're going to comment about this, make sure you try some of the latest and greatest clubs in Germany such as
Golden Time "Bruggen"
Planet Happy Garden "Oedt"
Bernd's "Lichtenberg"
Babylon "Elsdorf"

Oase, Atlantis and World are not bad but to do a good comparison the best need to be visited.

In Thailand I visited Darlings MP, Annes, Eden Club, Walking street and several MP's in Pattaya. Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy and Theme Cafe. Software, clothes and bootleg items are cheap, women are plentiful, which Germany lacks but then I don't go to Germany to rip off software or clothing companies.

This is all my humble opinion and nothing else but when I read anothers posts I felt that another view needed to be heard.

Okay, here's a few useful phrases:

Ao nai gohn mai krap - You want to take it in the ass?
Chaub nai gohn mai krap- You like it in the ass?
Ao nai doot dai mai krap- Can I fuck your ass?
Tam tii doot dai mai krap- Can I do it in your ass?

(plus a million other combinations).

I always find anal is like taking photos; you gage a girl's reaction on bringing out a camera- if she doesn't hide from it then you can snap away.

Similarly stick a couple of fingers in the back-door and if she reacts well then ride that little brown ass!

We were following a Jeep-type vehicle up the road in Chiang Mai. It was full of monks, plus two small (maybe 12yo) boys. A fat monk sat next to the boys had a seriously lascivious look on his face. Hope this isn't too offensive.

Mac Mac,

Re: getting an abortion in Thailand

I agree that, The Center for Population Control, next to Cabbages and Condoms on Sukhumvit Soi 12 is the best place. It is run by Senator, Dr. Mechai Viravaidya, (a.k.a. Mr. Condom), who has been central in promoting condom use and safe sex in Thailand.

I speak from first hand experience. My girlfriend was pregnant in 2001 and she didn't want the baby. So, I took her there. It is very safe, clean and modern. Depending on how far along the girl in question is, it will cost something in the neighborhood of 2,000-3,000 baht. They use the suction method which is very quick, painless and quite safe. In contrast, most Thai hospitals use medication to induce a miscarriage. It is less invasive. But, it isn't always successful, and can often lead to complications such as toxic shock.

I've read comments, at various times mostly from newbies concerned about medical care in Thailand. I rank it as high if not higher than the US, at least in Bangkok, and certainly much cheaper. I have personally had major cancer surgery twice in Bangkok as well as numerous other procedures and can attest to the quality of service being first-rate, and very cheap. My last operation at Bangkok Hospital cost 57,000 baht, which included a private room for two days and round-the clock care. The same operation in the US would have easily been $10,000.

And, BTW the nurses at Thai hospitals are very hot!

I'm headed to BKK next month for my first time in five years. I'm not as into the gogo scene as many of you.

I'm looking for thai beauty / escort who speaks a bit of english, and will go long term or maybe entire weekend. Money is less an issue for me as I'm willing to pay for the quality. Any recommendations on how to find one? Anyone have a recommendation or contact, please PM me.

Also, how are the saunas in BKK? Are they like the fish bowls in Macau which are full of spectacular women and the rooms very classy and clean. How do those in LOS compare?

Thanks for any tips or contacts.

I recently read “All souls day” by Bill Morris it is a novel set in Bangkok and Saigon in the late 50’s early 60’s. It makes a reference to “The Quite American” and is written in the same style. The prose are a bit clumsy in the first couple of chapters but gain strength and approach brilliance in articulating the author’s insights on Thai nightlife, culture and society.

Hey guys, just had my clothes done 2 doors from the Dynasty on Soi 4. I have this feeling the prices were a bit too high. 32 baht per shirt, 30 baht per t-shirt. All in all it cost 460 baht. Considering I saw at Khao San Rd the prices were 30 baht per kilo, I guess I paid too much. Does anyone have any idea on cheaper places for laundry around the Nana area? A couple of other places in the immediate vicinity were not much cheaper.

There is a guest house on Soi 4, on the right hand side, about a three minute walk from NEP.

You'll see lots of clothes hanging outside to dry.

PERSONALLY - No, but that having been said, I have talked to several others who HAVE done the rot-fei transport and they indicate that it is comfortable and inexpensive.

A friend did BOTH last month - flew in and bus/ferry/train back (BKK Air has a rather "high" departure fee from Samui - they literally OWN the airport) and he was pleased in both directions.

I've not done the train from BKK to Samui, but I've done the Ko Samui ferry, and it's a good time as long as you're really at leisure all the way around, as it's not fast and it lands on the opposite side of the island from the main beaches. But it's a pleasant ride, and there's no difficulty getting transport once you hit the island. And I've enjoyed my trips by train elsewhere in LOS, so I'd expect the same would be true on this route.

Especially on SLEEPERS?

If you've never done that trip and have some time, divide it in to two or three stages and travel daytime: First day to HuaHin, second day to Chumpon and then on to SuratThani and KS.
Take the third class trains. (I :(H-A-T-E:( aircon!)
Downside, departure from Chumpon to SuratTani at 5 am or so.

The package you're talking about is available at HuaLamPong RWS, counter 1 or 2. Or both.

Duniawala, it´s worth to go by train to Surat Thani. Bus to the ferry... waiting there for about two hours... three hours with the ferry to Naton and finally one hour tuk- tuk to the eastcoast. Be prepared on a 27- hourstrip and one lost night without action.

Compared with all in all about five hours from door to door with BKK Air.

If you are going by train and time is not an issue I recommend the night train and absolutely 2nd class where you can chat with thai people and other farangs. In 1st you are isolated with only one company. The bed is also along the train and the railroad and not across as in the 1st class. It´s a big different when you will try to sleep. (Me and my friend went to CM in 1st class and didn´t get a minute slep depending on the very bad railroad). But book early so you get the under bed and not have to be dependent on the mate in the overbed. And put your stuff inside!

My friends, living in Samui, always go by air and most of thais go by bus. If you want to go by air you can choice the earliest or latest flight in the day for about 2 300 bath. But you have to book in advance.

I haven´t been to Hua Hin or Champon but I doubt there is anything of interest to see or do.

First, I apologize if this has been covered before - but it's been difficult to search through the forums lately. I'm planning my first trip to Thailand in December - never been to Asia before and am looking forward to it.

1) I'm thinking about flying to Phuket. What's the best way to do this? Should I arrange my flight from the US in advance - or is it better to do it while I'm there? How much are these flights anyways?

2) The reason I'm thinking about going to Phuket is to scuba dive. but I see there are some scuba shops in Pattaya - does anyone have any experience with these shops?

Hamilton - A reply (not mine) is posted under Pattaya section. IF you can't make one of those - "Regular" busses run until 11pm from Ekkamai - 97B (plus the 100B airport bus fare to get to Ekkamai bus terminal) - takes about 2 hours. During the day Mochit busses are faster. See other replies about cabbing (and finding a "friend" somewhere to "share the ride".

Paul VJK,

There are cheap internet fares available from BKK to Phuket, try www.nokair.com and/or http://www.nokair.co.th. Flying FROM Phuket, Nokair now have 'beach check-in' at a hotel near the airport- you can use the pool and they pick you up when your flight is due (source: BangkokPost).
A regular Thai Airways ticket, available at the Domestic Terminal in BKK, is about B2,500. Thai have a website too.
You can just walk up to the counter during most times of the year, but not around NewYear, ChineseNewYear and ThaiNewYear, and buy a ticket for the next flight or so. I did this on several occasions and never had to wait for more than two hours. The one time I bought a ticket in advance they let me take an earlier flight.

I'm no scuba man, but I wouldn't give Pattaya a second thought and head straight for Phuket for scuba - trips and gear!

i have done the bbk - surathani by train/ferry several times.
take freeler's advice and skip 1st class. the ride is very convienient in 2nd class, not 3rd as freeler said.

in first class you have dark windows which can't be opened and ac can be ice cold, just like some busses.
3rd class has only wooden benches and this ride is too long for it.

2nd class is perfect, you got a seat which is big enough for two persons. luggage is stored directly next to your seat, always in sight. rotating fans are at the ceiling and windows can be opened. that way you can buy food and drinks at the train stations which is offered almost everywhere without leaving the train.

in the evening the seats are connected and function as your bed. another bed is lowered from above the window. the windows will be closed by a metal plate with holes in it so that nobody can grab inside when the train stops but fresh air can still circulate you will also get a sheet, pillow and a blanket. curtains close the beds at night so you would also be able to get some action with your gf if you like - of course as calm as possible, but very exciting, believe me.

you will arrive at surathani early morning around 5am as far as i remember. a bus will bring you to the ferry pier which takes around 30min. the speedboat will then finally bring you to koh samui. if you have no advance booking, don't worry, many "tour guides" advertise for several hotels and lodges. they will surely get their share but you don't have to worry about transportation. anyway, if you do not like the place or if you believe it is too expensive, just walk away.

it is always wise to book the whole package in advance. depending on your travel dates it might be impossible to get a seat (e.g. songkran) if you intend to buy it directly at hua lamphong at departure day.

A few months ago, our beloved PM took delivery of a very nice looking airbus. it arrived in the dead of night, with no advance notice, nor fanfare. The press had a field day, once they discovered the purchase, and pretty much all of LOS was outraged that the PM would spend that kind of money on such an extravagence.

I noticed Thaksin was in Chili last week end. Does anyone who is in LOS know if he took his jet? This was to be his inaugural flight. What is the press saying now?

Sorry abt off topic.

Nana Go-Go's closing at 1 a.m. and Nana Disco at 2 a.m. Police frivolously chasing girls off to the otherside of the street periodically whatever thats all about and the streetside stalls continue to serve alcohol throughout the evening. I have been out for a tenure stateside and apparently a rotation of faces is prevelent. Putting things in a nutshell "its good here"

Just out socializing today with a bar-girl from Morning Night Soi 4. Well I enjoyed a drink with her last night on the Loy Krathong holiday it was festive here and worth it to be outside enjoying it. Anyhow she brought her roomate an x-employee at the the bar the girl had a dark oblong face with a mole on the nose and very crooked teeth and what was mind blowing about it was how they bragged about this english guy sending 30k baht/month i.e. $1000 USD to keep her out of the bar and then bragging about other things he did. Well now that I am here longer an speaking some thai I sat and listened and laughed along about Big Boss and what a sucker he is....hell the dude could have some fox with some education instead he choose a peasent at a Beer Bar.

Of course she will brag about such damn ass sucker. She deserves all the money she can get but the poor guy like so many others is sooner or later going to get some bad news. It is beyond me that a 1,000 baht for ST hooker can trick a guy into 30,000 a month stipend.

A very hot ex-GF of mine went to work at Nana, within a few weeks she had one hundred thousand Baht coming in every month from overseas, five different guys, mostly Americans.

I thought she may have been exaggerating until she showed me the transfers in her bank-book.

Naturally she continued to freelance around Sukhumvit (mostly at Angels) and so earned another 50,000-ish Baht per month. She is now living in the USA, can't remember where, some flyover state.

We used to meet for sex, it made a nice change as she'd take me out and spend money on me. Then back in the hotel I'd listen to her telling her sponsors how much she missed them on the phone, as they made their nightly calls to check up on her.

Normally the sex continued during these calls.

Coma Boy,

Yep, I have met a few of girls as you describe them. Had great conversations with them and learned how they suck in suckers... The thing is that they never have a grand strategy for getting money other than using their feminine powers for persuasion. One thing was always consistent with these suckers: impulse, desperate and using their dicks for thinking instead of their big heads. Another big thing was being a newbie to the scene and not knowing jack shit about Thai hookers. Also, they think of themselves as "nice" guys for helping a woman from a third world country.

I find these girls one of the best fucks as they do it for the extra cash but mostly for the entertainment.

It takes all kinds. When I was there I got to know a few of the bar girls, not as clients, just to sit and talk to. They were composing e-mails to their 'boyfriends' about hurry back, I'll give you all the sex........

They asked me on some translations and spelling, and I asked them how many guys they were sending this to. They all laughed and said a few.

I have had the same experiences like you. Have witnessed many times when girls send emails to their boyfriends - it's mostly copy & paste - and heard lots of stories as well. I have also bonked them during they answered calls from their boyfriends abroad. But I would never generalize, not all girls are like that. Many just take any given occasion to optimize the performance of their portfolio, who wouldn't :D

I can't blame them either. They are trying to make a living and have limited possibilities.

I found many of the ladys to be smart and nice, once they let their 'professional' faces loose.

Do they lie to the guys? Sure

I agree, within 20years no girl ever stole from me.
In general Thais are very honest and faithful persons. My father once forgot something in his hotel room at checkout, they kept it for him and gave it back on his next return. I also used to put some money on the nightdesk - just a hundred or so - for the roommate. They did not take it, thinking I forgot it there, had to place it on the bed or on top of dirty clothes or towels.

If you are in America the emasculation capital of the world where one dreams of a Thailand vacation and fantasies that his little thai bar that just wants to be saved from poverty and desperation I have this information for you. The economy in Thailand is one that pays an average $7/day for average menial jobs like working in a store.

Majority of thai's work this way and are not sex workers. Most sex workers come from the farming belt area of North Central Thailand and are often low educated with even worse prospects for decent employment. Therefore the sex trade is making them rich in their eyes and the money is going around to moma papa gambling and whatever else. Farang have come to this country on holiday with their foreign budgets and have leveraged in some good sex while spoiling the indigenous personnel. It is a brilliant system in that the price of food remains low so the masses are not starving and foreigners help the welfare system.

About the bar girls well remain detached have fun and safe sex If you want love and marriage you should go for a girl that never sold her ass off on the block. Hey I got bar girls as friends.. I don’t hate bar girls. I LOVE THEM ALL.

Back in 1997, I used to have a BG from Long Gun on Soi Cowboy named Ping, 18, cute and quite popular, who regularly came round my apartment. She had some idiot in NZ sending her 50,000 a month. She hated this guy, but took his money. She was so contemptuous of this moron that she actually gave him my phone number because she was tired of his checking up on her every other day and wanted to rub his nose in the fact that she was with another guy. Sure enough, one night when she was at my place, the phone rang at midnight and it was NZ boy. He was startled to say the least when I answered, even more so when I said, "just a minute" and handed the phone to Ping. She treated him like shit, asking him in a very un-characteristically non-Thai voice, "What do YOU want?" They had a major fight. She got off the phone and laughed because he threatened to send the money directly to her parents instead of to her, unless she stopped hooking. This guy was unbelievable.
The point of this little story is that even after knowing she was shacked up with me, and others, the money kept flowing in. In fact, he increased it to 60,000/month. She had more money than I did, at the time, over 650,000 in the bank. She was more canny than most and was maximizing her income so that she could quit and do something with her life. She wasn't looking for some Farang to marry so she could go freeze her ass off in Bum-fuck, Sweden or the like. She just wanted the idiots' money. I of course, contributed from time to time to her 'retirement' fund. But, it was always straight-up for both of us. I've seen her from time to time since and she's done quite well for a poor farm-girl from Khon Kaen. She studied English at ECC, went to Ramkhamhaeng University and got a BBA and now at the age of 25 is working as an accountant for a big American insurance company in BKK. I saw her the last time in March of this year and asked her whatever happened to NZ boy. Apparently, he eventually came back to LOS and tried to get her to marry him, even talking to her parents and asking them to convince her. Of course she said no. But, even after that, he continued to send her money for another six months or so. All told, he gave her close to 2,000,000 baht over the years, which is bad enough. But, he didn't even see her or shag her most of the time. Although this is one of the more extreme examples of Farang gullibility when it comes to BGs, it certainly isn't all that uncommon.

Hi,

This is just a suggestion, so please don't take it the wrong way.

I appreciate the details in your report, but I know from experience that a lot of people find it very difficult to read a report that is written as one long block of text. It's kind of like trying to eat an entire steak in one bite.

I know how this happens: You're banging away at the keyboard, putting your thoughts into the report as fast as you can write them. However, if you could hit the return key every few sentences while you're writing, and thus break your report into smaller paragraphs, your report would be much easier to read, which would certainly be appreciated by your fellow Forum Members.

Thanks,

i didn't read down far enough to actually savor man dome's report, but i can tell that the regulars of this tribe were not too impressed.

man dome,

although i did not read your post you should take heed to the advice of this board. it is about 98% to 99% accurate. if you are like me and always a contrarian, then be warned, when a contrarian is correct it is sweet, but when a contrarian is wrong, well... let's just say that every pasture is greener at that moment. :)

===

it's funny. we have categories for this board but they are largely ignored. all this talk of thai p4p [CodeWord125] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord125) the falang should most likely be in the opinions section, oh well. i break these rules as well and am only posting in this section because it seems to be the section de jour. this is simply a factor of wanting to be heard, which is a factor of ego. for this, i apologize.

i've been in internet cafes helping girls with their emails and i've also been in bed with a girl while she was [CodeWord125] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord125) a falang for his money. it is an interesting experience the first couple of times until you realize that it has no more significance than listening to someone that works at mcdonalds talking about how many burgers they flipped that day. everyone has to do a job, that is the bottom line. that's probably why i don't like to discuss work. it's such an inevitable thing that it is no longer interesting.

as for being one of the contrarians, i will always be one. i will believe that true love can be found almost anywhere, even with a bargirl. the problem for me is that i don't think i have the capability to truly love someone, at least not in the way it is portrayed on the big screen of life.

at this moment my girlfriend/ex-girlfriend is sleeping with the guy from japan that i posted about many moons ago. i talked to her on the phone today and he was there. she was worn out to a frazzle, complaining. "he's nothing like you. he shadows me everywhere. if you where here you would have left hours ago. i have to do everything for him. he has not one ounce of independence. but at least he is not going out to fuck prostitutes."

at this point i felt like an idiot. my relationship is going down the tubes once again. so i asked her, "did you remember to recharge my pct phone?"

"that's the only reason you called isn't it?"

"don't be mean. i miss you. are the three of us still going out for new years eve."

"no. i have to go to my hometown with him", (the man from japan).

you see, he wants to take her to her home town so that he can ask her step sister if it is okay to marry her.

it looks like i am going to get what i wanted. i crafted a perfect plan. i went back to america when the man from japan came to thailand. i thought it the perfect way to get rid of the expense and it worked brilliantly. he has made her promise to no longer accept any money from me.

a brilliant plan. a perfect outcome. why is it i feel so stupid? here is a thai lady that has read more dostoevski than me, and i am sending her back to the rank and file. i must be one selfish sob. that's all i can figure.

now it's time to go read the bangkok 2004 section. i'm not sure i want to after my ladyboy report. oh well... what i have disclosed in this section is much much worse.

To whom it may concern,

The other day I was watching the nightly business report and there was a story about how the Thai government has declared war on corruption. The story explained how police bribes are a way of life in Thailand. They interviewed the owner of a chain of MP and he was complaining that he had to pay off the police to the tune of $500,000/month. The report went on to say that things probably won't change much.

I am currently in Bangkok and tried to access WSG via the computer in my hotel's business center. I got a message stating in effect, sorry, this website has been closed by the Thai Royal Police because it contains offensive material such as pornography, etc. Fortunately for me, I had received an e-mail notifying me of a PM, so I was able to access the website through the back door. I wonder if others have had this problem?

I have found WSG banned in other jurisdictions. Guess it depends on what form of nanny net they use. Interesting that the Thai cops are on to it. Though why anyone would want to ban Samus Aran is beyond me. Maybe someone can take it up with the Skipper or one of his croneys?

Domino and others,

I've figured out that the way around banning is simple. Just save any e-mails you may receive notifying you of a PM or of a response to one of your posts; this will enable you to access the PM or message area of the website. Then click on the 'WSG Forum' link in the upper left corner of the screen, and you're home free...at least until the censors catch on to this. So anyone going to a country where you know WSG is banned should request a PM from anybody, even if it's blank, before you go, then save the e-mail notifying you of the PM until you can access your IP after you arrive.

The ban that you discovered was due to the particular ISP your hotel was using, or, as Domino says- the ISP's Net Nanny.

Normally when a web-site is banned across an entire country or by several ISPs, the webmaster (Jackson et al in this case) e-mails all the members with an alternate URL.

But, yes, in theory, your method will also work.

Info for guys that want to stay long time in Thailand...(it would work for GFE and FFF serial mongers)

Much less paperwork for some farangs

PATTAYA: -- Head of Pattaya’s immigration bureau, police colonel Ittipol Ittisarnronnachai, has announced that the foreign holders of some long visas will no longer have to provide mountains of paperwork every year. Once registered, they will be cleared for entry and exit for up to five years on a case by case basis. However, they will still need to obtain a re-entry permit if they do decide to leave the country.

To qualify for the new fast track facility, foreigners must hold a non immigrant visa, any type, and show that they have been “living” in Thailand for the past three years. The most obvious way of demonstrating this is to have held consecutive one year extensions authorized by the immigration bureau. Police colonel Ittipol said there were six categories of people eligible to transfer. These included farangs with a Thai spouse, those with a Thai dependant, retirees, substantial investors, work permit holders and special categories including diplomatic personnel.

Ittipol added it was not compulsory for eligible people to change to the multiple years’ option. They could continue making annual applications as in the past. Although the detail is still settling down, it is understood that applications for the multiple year visa can be made only in the Bangkok immigration headquarters in Soi Suan Plu (Sathorn). However, Pattaya immigration officers will be able to provide further details of the new system which bears some similarity to “green card” options operating in some parts of the world.

Applications have to lodged in the second half of December 2004. Otherwise you have to wait until late next year. Police colonel Ittipol explained that the fast track notion was designed to simplify visa life for long term farangs who had shown by their immigration record that they were contributing significantly to Thai economic and financial strength or had ongoing family responsibilities. He concluded that it was the aim of the immigration bureau to create a safe environment for all foreigners in the kingdom and that included a privileged status for the long stay residents as defined.

(i hope im right thread, but if not, bad luck)

I got myself a flight to bkk on the 12 january 05, returnflight sometimes in july. So i intended to have thailand, cambodia, vietnam, cambodia, laos, thailand trip but havent done anything for visas yet.

(I have a swiss passport)

Now, will it be a problem with in Thailand that I have my return flight in 5/6 months? Or can I just get to Thailand, stay a month, leave for Cambodia, stay a month, and get back to Thailand or go on to Laos, Vietnam for another month, and so on?

The problem is that I read in the Cambodia section how easy it would be to get a visa at the boarder and so i didnt really look for more information on this before booking the flight.

Now asking our Vietnamese consulat (or embassy, I think thats the same, not?) They tell me that I would have to get a visa 6 months before entry ( in Vietnam).

In short, can I fly to BKK and travel around Thai, Camb, and Laos and maybe another country, for 6 months aranging the visas over there?

I've tryed getting that information from the different ambassys about that but i didnt get comprehensiv answer, or didnt ask the right questions.

I know its my fault for not getting that clear before booking the flight but i can always change the date of my flight back... so .. if you can answer, please. Not so important but still:

I also intend to inform you all about my hopefully good experiences (slime... no... i really do :-).

Oh, and except for returning alive (maybe, maybe not ;-) I dont have any clear plans yet so. I am open for ideas and suggestions.

I hope I can get by with around 5000 usd and if someone knows really cheap places to stay at (like renting something for several weeks, or the like).

I don’t think the skipper wants to ban SA, I think he wants to ban the photos in this site, especially Belguel’s in Morocco and Cameroon, as many of them are much better than his own pictures – as everyone probably knows one of the skipper’s hobbies is photography, he even appears with his big camera in some of his omnipresent pictures.

Why does the skipper always keep his camera hanging around his neck? Well, it is obvious, he lives in the land of sex, he knows that a pussy could turn up at any moment from any direction, like when you are walking along Beach Road, so the camera must be kept handy to act quickly and take good pics.

But the skipper is worried that despite showing off his camera everywhere, even at the back of the 1000 baht notes (aka LT notes), Thais may end up finding out that there are better photos in this site that in his royal private collection and that some plebeians, such as Belguel with his dog chain, have in fact more talent than His Majesty when it comes to taking pictures.

I don't see how remarks like yours will improve the situation. As you know, HM the King is a highly respected national symbol and by issueing rants against him you will only attract the attention of the Thai authorities and they will keep a closer eye to the forum or shut it down at all, so it would be impossible to access it from the kingdom.

King Dong, you won't have any trouble moving around from Thailand to various places -- Switzerland is one of the countries that does not require an advance Thai visa, as you can just get a 30-day tourist one whenever you enter. You should have no problems with getting Laotian or Cambodian visas on arrival, and there are a number of services in LOS that can expedite getting a visa for Vietnam as well. (Unlike the other places, you cannot get an "on-the-spot" visa for Nam.)

All you have to do to get a fresh 30-day visa for Thailand is to go across the border for a few minutes and then come in and get another one...

Thais on telling the truth:

“The Thai does not deliberately lie, but also does not deliberately tell the truth. Norms of respect and politeness require flattery and exaggerations.”

I have a GF that is currently going through a tough time with a bad kidney.

She gets fevers and fatigue and the doctor has given her medicine.

The doctor has told her to stop eating Som Tom. She thinks that it is the hot peppers
But I think it is the little crabs they crush into it. So I did some research.
“A cause of kidney disease and failure is Hemolytic Urenic Syndrome (HUS), also known as Hamburger Disease. HUS is most often caused by the eating of undercooked hamburger meat or raw meat contaminated with a highly toxic type of E.coli bacteria. When the kidneys fail, toxic wastes and fluids accumulate in the body. Dialysis is required to artificially clean the blood, or a kidney transplant is required.”
I have seen these little crabs sitting in a coffee can unrefridgerated and possibly uncooked.

Then they crush them into the salad. She eats Som Tom every day.

The Smile

Everybody knows about the smile, are they happy all the time? What is behind the smile?

Behind the Smile

“In the west, a smile is about something. In Thailand the smile is a natural part of life. It does, however, serve social functions…”

1. Amusement

2. To excuse

3. To thank

4. To side-step: “Some Thais can smile their way out of almost any situation, carefully avoiding any words or actions that might be regretted later. Thiss kind of behaviour infuriates many farangs but is respected by Thais.

5. To show embarrassment: “The embarrassment smile also functions to avoid conflict, but indicates the person’s guilt and his willingness to make amends.”

(Juice, here's part of a magazine article I once wrote about Thai smiles).

Thai smiles are a form of subtle interpersonal-messaging which run much deeper than language or syntax. Thais are adept at performing many situation-specific smiles in their everyday lives. Most can accurately perform each type of smile upon request and are proficient at identifying the specific smiles they encounter; being well aware of each smile’s inherent meaning.

Essential to better comprehension of Thai society is learning to decipher this range of smiles, which express such a wide array of feelings.

Thai smiles include:

Yim Tak Tai, a smile meaning hello.

Yim Cheun Chom, a smile displaying genuine admiration or appreciation.

Feun Yim, a stiff, fake smile.

Yim Tang Nam Dtah, crying with happiness.

Yim Mee Lessanai, a smile hiding a secret thought (perhaps a pleasant surprise or cunning practical joke).

Yim Tad Taan, a smile showing disagreement.

Yim Yor, a flattering, flirtatious smile (normally used to persuade a person to do something).

Yim Yae Yeh, a smile of helpless acceptance (no use crying over spilt milk).

Yim Sao, a sad smile.

Yim Chuen Churn, an inviting, welcoming host’s smile.

Yim Soo, a forced smile between enemies to keep the peace.

Yim Heng Heng, a dry smile (I owe you the money but can’t pay).

JuiceSpike,

Are you reading Culture Shock Thailand? ... if not, someone has palgurised someone ... cause those exact words are printed right here in my copy

....

For me, the meaning of a Thai smile is directly proportional to the amount of money at stake over the likelihood of them getting their hands on it .... divided by 1 ... or -1 if you've already handed over the money.

....

But we all keep coming back for more, don't we!!!

globotto,

the cause of the kidney problem might not be hus. kidney problems should not be treated by your local doctor. a referal to a specialist physician is required in this case. this is not time to wait for the little white pill to do it's work.

if your gf has hus this is a serious problem. do not rely on antibiotics prescribed by the local doctor. your gf needs to see a specialist. the mortality rate from hus ranges from 5 - 15% ... depending on demographics ... i can't remember what it is for thailand. read below.

hemolytic uremic syndrome (hus) is characterized by acute renal failure, microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, fever, and thrombocytopenia. diarrhea and upper respiratory infection are the most common precipitating factors. hus is one of the most common causes of acute renal failure in children. the term hus was first used by gasser and coworkers in 1955, when they described an acute fatal syndrome in children that featured hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and severe renal failure.

in children, hus often follows a prodromal infectious disease, usually diarrhea (90%) and less often an upper respiratory infection (10%). use of antimotility drugs may increase the risk of developing hus. the most common cause of hus is a toxin produced by escherichia coli serotype 0157:h7. additional agents include shigella, salmonella, yersinia, and campylobacter species. the shiga and shigalike toxins, produced by some strains of shigella dysenteriae and e coli 0157:h7, respectively, have been associated with approximately 70% of cases of hus in children. because of the cytotoxic activity of these toxins on vero cells, they are referred to as verotoxins. transmission of e coli 0.57:h7 appears to be caused by contaminated food, such as ground beef and other cattle products that are undercooked, and unpasteurized dairy products. food contaminated with e coli does not look, smell, or taste bad.

person-to-person contact, as well as contamination of public water supplies, may also have a role in the transmission of this bacterium. e coli is normal flora in the gastrointestinal tracts of some healthy cattle, and children can contract it by petting a cow.

hus is also associated with viruses, including varicella, echovirus, and coxsackie a and b, as well as other infectious agents such as streptococcus pneumoniae and clostridium difficile. hus has also been associated with aids, cancer, and the administration of chemotherapeutic agents. mitomycin c is the most common chemotherapeutic agent associated with hus. malignancies found in conjunction with hus include prostatic, gastric, and pancreatic malignancies. some have suggested that hus is mediated by immune complexes. some cases of hus are familial, which may reflect a genetic or human leukocyte antigen (hla)–type predisposition.

finally, any dietary changes to mitigate the chance of picking up strep or e.colli bacteria should be implemented immediately ... and permanently.

good luck

Uniforms in Thailand

“A surprisingly large percentage of the non-agricultural population is employed directly by the government as civil servants who wear uniform. All schools and universities students also wear uniforms. If individual ranking is not adequately registered by the official uniform, a ‘uniform’ group may introduce conventions of their own to distinguish between degrees of standing. Thus, first year university students, by convention, wear white socks.

I am happy you finally decided to become an academic.

There is one minor flaw in your book though - graduate students do not wear uniform.

And the uniform and all those stupid colors on the shirt is not a Thai thing - you find it all over the world in the customs, rangers, police and military. (I admit that here it is too much of it ...).

And the uniforms of pupils is just a colonial leftover from the British and French (and I know that Thailand was never formally colonized - that's not the point...)

Happy reading (and you will find school girls uniform in any size - even for old fat hags working at Edens's).

From a book on Thai culture…

Flattery

“One of the most pleasant aspects of Thai small talk is the Thai zest for flattery. Try to keep your ego within limits when everything about you is being praised. Height, hair, eyes and skin color are all acceptable subjects for praise. Having admitted to being over 40, you will be told you look thirty. Such flattery can cross the sex line (within limits), but remember that it is only small talk!”

Keep on believing… :D

As reported in the 12/23 Online WSJ provided by AP:

BANGKOK, Thailand -- Terrorists are plotting attacks next year at tourist resorts across Thailand, according to documents found in the house of a fugitive leader of the country's Islamic insurgency, a senior security official told the Associated Press.

Gen. Kitti Rattanachaya, a senior security adviser to Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, said the seized documents indicate the separatists want to escalate their fight against the Buddhist central government next year.

He said the documents show that in 2005, the militants plan to attack "soft targets" such as the tropical beach resorts of Pattaya and Phuket, which draw tourist from around the world.

On the other hand, Thailand remains a nice safe-haven for the Jihad-boys; just check out Soi 3. Can't see them wanting to have to move out.

Ralph Kramden,

muslim terrorists are already active in Bangkok. Last month my GF told me that security had found a bomb in the lobby of the Thai Inter main office. Police bomb squad was able to disarm the bomb and nobody got hurt, but security was raised after that incident and roads around the buildings were blocked off. Now they got checked by security everyday and are always remembered to keep their eyes open to prevent another attack.

Guess it's only a matter of time till they blow up NEP or another similar spot.

From a book on Thai culture…

Prostitution

“Many male visitors are likely to spend at least part of their leisure time in the company of some of those Thai women who work in one form or another of prostitution. It has been variously estimated that between one and five per cent of the female population pursues this oldest of professions. This means, of course, that at least 95 per cent do not, a simple and obvious point that should be remembered.

The fact that women of easy virtue naturally gravitate around the male visitor’s world-- where the money is- means that many visitors impressions of Thai women that is no more true than the impression of western women held by many Thais.

Prostitute lose face and status, but they also make money, which can eventually re-buy many of the superficial daily actions of respect that are essential to a Thai’s mental well-being. While making the money, these girls often compensate psychologically by a brash disregard for Thai norms. Sometimes they almost completely leave the Thai community, while continuing to live in Thailand, and accept only the company of farang, Arab or Japanese visitors.”

Comment:

It is interesting that even though only 1 to 5 percent of Thai women are prostitutes they get so much attention (mostly negative) around the world.

Muslims are an integral part of Thailand. There are many Muslim tourists in Bkk Soi 3 and Pattaya. Unlike European lager louts, kiddy lovers etc, they do not cause much trouble (some love lost between them and Thais but so what). They like their women fat so they are not after the same tired old holes most white guys are. They leave us alone. We should leave them alone.

Just my 2 baht (as a non fascist).

PS: Muslim women give the best bjs but ymmv.

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to wish you all a happy new year, if that is possible in some of the effected areas of SEA. New year spirit will probably show in massive donations. Fireworks have been cancelled in my city and the money given to aid organisations.

I really don't think terrorists would bother doing anything for some time. Nuture has done more damage than they could ever do.

I had a phone call from my travel agent today asking if I still want to go..... are they kidding..... 8 days to go and counting :)

Happy New Year!

I wouldn't worry too much about getting blown up in a terrorist attack at NEP. My informants tell me that the real estate at NEP is Muslim owned. I don't doubt them as they are a gifted and crafty bunch. That's why I keep them on the payroll. Good Intel is hard to find!

They have been hearing chatter that the Institute of anti-money-laundering-and-human-rights building is a possible target. It's located between MBK and Pantip. I'd tread carefully in that part of town, but I would not worry about my life too much on Soi 4. The Jihad boys have a veritable cash cow happening there and I sincerely doubt they would bomb the hand that is feeding them.

I'd say that this information is well known and it could be the reason that NEP is going down hill. The adversaries of the Jihad group are most certainly trying to make Soi Nana disappear in a clandestine effort to shut the nozzle of funds off for the Jihad Universities that are popping up everywhere.

The next time you take a drink from your Singha while ogling the gogo girls at NEP, you might take a moment and reflect on where your money is actually going. The Bush administration is convinced that anyone buying drugs is a terrorist by association. This mentality is backed by the congress and the senate. All you have to do to verify this is read their minutes. Both houses voted to earmark five hundred million dollars for an advertising campaign designed to teach (brainwash) the American populace that anyone buying drugs is a supporter of terrorism. Mr. Bush wasn’t kidding when he said, “If you’re not for us, you’re against us.”

Now you might ask me how the hell NEP and drugs are related to each other and it would be a good question, but the answer is very simple. Drugs are something that people do to forget or at the very least they are taken in an effort to slow down the thinking process. It is a well known fact that when a person is having an orgasm, the mind can't think at all. It is only during the time that the orgasm is taking place. Afterwards, the thought process returns to normal.

If you ponder this trivia for a moment it might dawn on you that sex is the primary drug of mankind. And if you squeeze your brain just a little harder you will come to realize that it is also highly addictive. After all, not everyone does drugs, but there are 6.6 billion people that are having sex on this planet! That is why I mention drugs in relation to NEP. A good memory is hard to find, and a memory forgotten is what most of the populace is in the process of doing. How else can you explain the fucked up state of this world?

Speaking of fucked up. I've got a report coming about fucked up sex tourists that fall in love with bar girls. I am now gainfully employed as an email interpretor for those little brown eyed beauties. I've been on the job for one day and I already want to quit. The sap I've been reading has spent 1,000,000 baht over the course of two years sending money to the girl I had sex with last night. She is one little hellion in the bed, so it's understandable just how much she made this farang forget. It's sad, actually.

Therefore, the average Joe should be careful in two ways: 1) Avoid all Thai government buildings if possible, and 2) don’t get caught on the wrong side of the United States Government’s Anti Terrorism Campaign. You might find yourself in a prison without recourse for a lawyer because you have been labeled as an enemy combatant.

Oops! There is a 3rd thing the average Joe should do. Don't fall too much in love with the process of forgetting!

That's all for now,
poster

10,000 - 40,000 cash up-front for both tourists and Non-Immigrants
Old ministry regulation goes into effect on Oct 1, 2004

From October 1, 2004, Thai Immigration will enforce an old regulation from October 2000, that requires border runners to show evidence of cash upon re-entry to Thailand. The "new" regulations are:

- 30 days "on arrival" entry 'walkers': 10,000 Baht (family 20,000 Baht)
- 60 days Tourist visa holders: 20,000 Baht (family 40,000 Baht)
- 90 days Non-Immigrant visa holders: 20,000 Baht (family 40,000 Baht)

Only cash counts. Credit cards, bank books, bank statements. ATM receipts, cashiers checks etc. are not considered valid evidence of cash.

Foreigners are concerned about bringing large amount of cash over the border and back.

The "new" regulation has recently been posted at several border points in Northern Thailand. The photos below shows the new enforced rules, and is taken from the Mae Sai border point in Chiang Rai.
