I am interested in starting an AMP and have found a small group of interested partners to chip-in with start-up capital. How do I recruit girls from Thailand and other such places without running into the whole [CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) mess. Or is it something I should better set-up through a syndicate (which in that case I may as well drop the idea)?

Recruiting them is easy, getting them pass U.S Immigration would be quite a feat but even if could pull that impossibility off, how would you get them to stay in your AMP toiling away to make you and your partners rich? As soon as they touched down in the states and located a compass you and your partners would be blowing your customers yourself, unless of course you resorted to those same [CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908) techniques.

If I were you...I would really stay away from such a project, but then...each one his own.
I heard that even bringing a legitimate girlfriend in the USA is a big challenge.

Just a clarification! Not always the case using ATM's at Branches, First you will only get a receipt if you get a transaction in my case a clock kept on spinning and gave me a response after a few minutes that the Transaction requested couldn't be process. I was at the Branch and the attendant saw exactly what happen. But the branch can't do anything for you regarding such a transaction. They will put you on the phone with someone, somewhere? But the Branch will not be able to help you!I'm unless unlucky. The ATM screw-up happened 3 times to me in the past 2 years (none the previous 20 years). My bank rep said that is unusual, but it sometimes occurs.
This is what is happening. When you enter your PIN, the info goes to the VISA network and it gets approved. The approval comes back, but due to a malfunction in the ATM, it won't be able to process the transaction.
Citi Bank (Western Bank) in Angeles immediately credited my account. But the local banks in Phnom Penh and Costa Rica did not. They took money out of my account.
Hence you have to call your ATM bank and dispute the charges. They will get VISA to do an audit on that ATM. In both cases I got the refund. I don't think talking to the low level local employee will help.
Note 1: The Thailand banks started to charge the 150 Baht fee couple of years ago. Previously, the ATM would give you Thai Baht at the buy rate (the lower end of the buy/sell spectrum) and not charge the 150 Baht fee. But now, the ATM gives you the Thai Baht at the Visa rate (between the buy and sell rate) with a 150 Baht fee. Hence if you take a lot of money out at one time, the overall rate is similar.
Note 2: If you want to avoid the 150 Baht ATM fee, get a Charles Schwab ATM card. That bank will refund the ATM fee, and it also does not charge the 3% Foreign Transaction Fee. Best ATM card around.

This is a question to the ones who ever got Thai girls from a website to bed. Might be quite a dumb one, but I just want to get your opinions, thoughts and maybe some useful tips:
-what do you talk about with girls who you meet online and plan to have some bed fun later once you're in LOS, just so they have idea that you're up to some fun and spending a good time together, and not serious brain-screwing relationshiops/friendship? Well, I surelly didn't mean that I want to play with someone's feeling, that's why I asked how you usually clearly point out that this is just for some fun when you're on quite a short trip to LOS, however I don't want to sound like some guys who write something like "ladies who wants my 9 inch dick bla bla bla", and spam their profiles/message boxes with perverted stupid messages. Just banging girls as a physical act is not that fun for me, I'm always looking for some chemistry, but I don't have time for LTR. The procedure outline by you is correct! The big difference is when I disputed the transaction with my bank, the amount disputed was place back into my account while the dispute was pending with Aeon and Visa requesting a audit with Aeon. Now one would assume this is all done by wire communication by Visa and Aeon. After several weeks the results was Aeon came back to Visa and through wire communication and told my bank that the transaction being disputed was a " valid " transaction meaning I was given by the ATM and there was no problem. This was basically telling me in a nice way I was a crook and a scammer. And remove the amount out of my account again. There after there is nothing more a U.S. institution can do on foreign soil to retreive my money.
So this was why when back in Thailand I continue to pursue the issue with Aeion Bank, but have been unable to speak to someone in person of authority to resolve the issue. In their research to me they have told me over the phone that
A. We gave you the money
B. We have photo's of the transaction
C. We have no record of any transaction on that particular day therefore no photos
C. Then final answer, we authorized the return transaction back to your bank account which is all untrue.
So in the end not as lucky as you!

I did a no fee transaction today at Citibank near Soi Cowboy - Suk 21If you have a citibank card you can just go to citiibank and withdraw any amount at no charge. Main branch is on Sathorn.
ATM should always give the the "TT" rate.
If you are not getting the "TT" rate then you should change your bank in your home country.

As a non-smoker I don't know much other than Airport has no duty free Malboros.

That said I will try and recruit illegals that are already here and looking for work that way if the stay the stay if they go they go and I haven't thrown in too much on the front end. I now just have to find were those communities tend to gather here in states and circulate info that way.

Second as mentioned, when it comes to reruiting in Thailand and bringing them to the USA, regarding Thailand this is exactly what the Embassy is looking for!
Third, if you plan on Cities like S.F. L.A. N.Y. and you're not connected the Mafia, Koreans, Chinese, Vietnamese will churn and spit your out before you even open your doors. In S.F. now they all have to be trained and certified and pay a fee each year to the City, the Building inspectors are allow to inspect all new facilities, rooms being built with showers in each room are a tip off and permits are refused based on design. Fine are imposed on building owners renting out such business if caught. The list goes on and on so now many are trying to run them out of Homes, Condos, Apartment and are still having problems with L.E.! because of Neighborhood watch.
If you plan on doing out of Cities like L.V. or the Midwest you stand out like a sore thumb so really think twice because if you're not connected and just think this is something that might be fun to run and own and be able to sample all the candy I say once again " if you can't do the time and pay the fine don't do the crime " in the last few years all the popular places owners in S.F. and surrounding Counties are all behind Bars.

I may have been compressed talc for all the good it did. Chinese packaged "blue devils" (supposedly copy of V) was ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS. Most of the supply in Thailand is direct import from India (but with India buying into the world trade something or other, they might start abiding with the "patents" on drugs. Chinese CIALIS copy was also pretty much worthless (I was told it was Chinese and should have trusted my better judgment)

I spoke to one guy who was selling 'Viagra' in a packet with a Pfizer holographic logo on it. He agreed it was fake. But why go to all the expense of faking a Pfizer hologram, which guarantees the stuff inside (when sold at a fraction of the retail cost) is fake? That hologram probably cost more to manufacture than the talc inside the packet.
If you buy stuff from a pharmacy made in India by a reputable company (eg Ranbaxy) there is a much better chance of it being real.

I've frequented many of these thai massage places run out of condos/apartments and its amazing how fast they catch on. They know they can get away with charging high prices while giving shitty service once in the USA. Usually(not always), it involves no GFE, covered BJ's, no kissin, no nuttin, just a mechanical experience, especially if she's good looking. Heck she doesn't have to even be real good looking to give such abysmal service.

I have not been since 2004, so I'm asking this experienced board to assist in my last trip (maybe). Hopefully not much has changed. After reading the boards for endless hours, I have my list of old favorites, plus some new ideas from the boards. Rail:
The skytrain is open, somewhat. It is on level B1. It is currently running test on a limited basis (in the morning and evening). There is no fee for these test runs. It is supposed to open on August 23. Not sure what the price will be.
Airport Express Bus:
Office is on level 1. There are 4 routes. Cost is 150 Baht. Last bus leaves between 11:30 PM - 12 AM.
To Pattaya by Air-con bus:
There's a direct service to Pattaya (B124 pp) and Jomtiem. The office is on level 1 next to the Airport Express office. Bus leaves every 2 hours; the last bus leaves at 9 PM. The bus stops at north, central and south Pattaya. And then it goes to Jomtiem.
At the Pattaya drop off, you are still couple of kilometers away from the main area (beach road and 2nd road). To get there, cross very busy Sukhumvit Road and grab a songthaew (10 baht bus) into town. Or there will be tuk-tuks and moto-bikes that will try to gouge you.
Another option to Pattaya is Bell travel with an A/C bus:
One level 1, you will see a small sign (across diagonally from the Airport Express office). Since Bell's depature times are staggered, they will find you after the other bus leaves. Cost is slightly more. The bus will stop at the Pattaya bus station, and then a mini-bus will take you to your hotel.
Other thoughts:
1) If you take the taxi into town at official taxi stand, do not pay their rip-off price when they try to gouge you and ask you for 400 or 500 baht. 99% of the taxi drivers will attempt to screw you because a lot of tourists will pay. Say "meter". If they don't immediately turn on the meter, then say "stop, I will get off". This has always worked. They never will refuse the fair (probably can't).
2) The taxi cost to Pattaya at the official taxi stand will be 1500 baht; this includes the 50 baht surcharge and tollway charges. You can go to the departure level and negotiate a price. A private car offered 1000 baht with tollway included. I was paranoid; I took a meter taxi; negotiated 1200 baht with the tollway included; I probably paid too much since he said yes too fast. From BKK city or the airport to Pattaya I tell them I'll pay you 1000 baht and I wiil pay the toll. In that way they will use the express way all the way otherwise they will drive underneath on the most part in order to save the toll

Not sure whether or not they gave you fake money (and if it is the case, I doubt that it was intentional) because the automated deposit machine may reject a banknote for various reasons, but 4000 out of 40000 baht is not 1%, but 10% of the total amount of the transaction.

It happened to me another times few months a go I sold some gold in one of MBK gold shops that offered the highest rate for the buying prices for gold. How about if I was a crook and go all over town changing money and returning as you corrected me 10% of the money I changed with real counterfeit money and demanded to be changed to real money. They even didn't check the money closely just replaced it with new bills. And since when you trust the Thai police estimate ? 0.5% ???? In every large shops if you give a 1000 baht bill they look and check the bill carefully including all 7 elevens, not only in Bangkok also in Isan, I believe the number should be more than 1 in 200.

The author is looking for realistic accounts of such happenings to help make the scene work. So she is looking for accounts that mention conditions faced, geographical locations (i.e. certain cities) and the types of people who do this sort of thing. Hopefully the accounts will not be too sensationalistic and be as real as possible.
I realize that this is a sensitive topic and let me assure you that my author friend has no ax to grind against mongers in general. She knows that many of us are decent law abiding perverts ( she is a good friend and supporter of my writing about the hobby) who would have nothing to do with such goings on except to report it if we saw it. But she also wants to bring some realism to the scene.
Of course I will be doing my own web search for such tales but I though that some of you here might be able to point me towards something interesting. Please contact me here or if you wish, via pm.

In fact one report I have read dealt with the buying and selling of girls in Haiti (pre earthquake but it could only get worse) and found that the price of buying a human being has dropped considerably since the days of the slave trade from Africa. That is, in those days a slave was a pretty hefty investment for a person to make. There was also a certain amount of responsibility, perhaps due to the high investment, in ownership. These days it is possible to buy a human for as little as $50 US!
This planet can be a brutal place. I guess that all one can do really is take care of one's own relationship with these things. I have for a long time felt that a more open attitude with regard the buying and selling of sexual services helps to discourage trafficking. That is, if there is less criminality involved the girls will be more fairly treated and end up with the cash in their own pockets and bank accounts. But I also know it is not as simple as this. For it to be open, the girls themselves must be open and this is not always possible.

I feel one really has to practice what I call fear management. That is, yes these things happen, and it is possible that they happen to you. But really, how likely is it? Fear breeds fear. This is a fact. One need only look at the over all fear climate in the USA to see the truth in this. To me the worse sort of criminal is the one who would use this fear to feather their own nests. Let's face it, Hollywood is great at doing this. (The TV show "24" is a great example of this with regard to international terrorism)
Having not seen this particular film I can not comment on it. But I think in telling such a tale one treads a very thin line between making it a sensationalistic tale that breeds further fear, and making a good film that educates and entertains. One really has to look at why do we as a species look to such tales for entertainment? My guess is that on some level we enjoy the identification with such tragedy and learn a little from it without having to go through it ourselves. I hope this is the case.
In practical terms I think all one can do,if one has children, I try to speak openly about these things. First manage your own fears about it (get a grip on them so you do not scare the hell out of the kids) then speak openly with the kids about the actual danger, not your imagined scenarios. Stay involved with them everyday and keep an eye on their on line activity.
I am sure it is not easy.
If one has no children then one need simply to care for them and look after them in what ever way one can-as if they were your own. Be alert to the situation (at a playground for instance) without giving into fears or paranoid flights of fancy.
Again, not easy but doable.

he did say he did not want store his pictures on a (disk) stick but if you email or upload about 10 pics per email instead of 1gig at a time it will turn out to be faster. i've been using yahoo and hotmail email accounts to store my pictures for years now, never had a problem with them.

you say you don't own your own ftp? ("free" ftp sucks, as does buggy gspace. not recommended.) you can just email your files to yourself via gmail, 25mb at a time. it's totally free. (my pics are normally 3-4mb each, so gmail isn't really practical at all for me at all though.)
better yet, get an account at "hotfile-dot-com" $9usd/1month or $35/6mo. then, you can create zips that are 100mb (or a lot more depending on the speed of your internet connection in thailand) and upload to your heart's content. (you aren't strapped to any contracts or anything, just one month you can store 100 gb. simply pay with paypal.)
either way, you can just download at your leisure when you get home (without worries.)

I've used this company at least 8 times in the last 2 years, and they've always been clean, reliable, and safe. I've only used them from Bangkok to Pattaya, and the airport to Pattaya and back, but their website says they service every part of the country. Highly recommended.

Simply go to their consulate offices in the morning with your passport and one (maybe two?) photos, fill up the form, pay them 1.800 baht for their express service and get your one month visa within the next day or two.
Very easy procedure. I did that last February. Make sure not to arrive even one day earlier at Hanoi than the visa states otherwise they will deny entry. Later no problem, earlier no entry into the country. So I heard.

My strategy has usually been to scope out women for a night and see who has energy and a connection with me and mention that the next day I'd like to come early and take them out for the night. I try to read body language to see if they're interested. If I don't get a good vibe I move on. You'll also have better luck with the less popular women as the popular ones prefer short time so they can come back to the bar for more.
If money is no object, you can take out a girl from a g-club like Pent or St. Moritz but it will cost you a lot and is usually better if you're going to be in BKK for awhile and have deep pockets. I've had some wild night outs with g-club women but it was expensive.
As for Bangkok vs. Pattaya -- you'll probably have better luck in Pattaya with a girl who really wants to party and things are open later which helps, but for me the Pattaya scene isn't my thing.

Everything is getting more and more expensive and spending by visitors is reducing.
Safety, more and more bombs are going off or being found and disarmed in and around Bangkok. It is said this will get worse as the present dictatorship continues to abuse its power.
Most tourists will get turned off of Thailand by firstly the fact their money is getting weaker and weaker and the holiday is getting more and more expensive and secondly, its the normal Thai way that if business goes down they raise the prices to get the same money from less volume, and therefore this is a double whammy impact on pricing being raised.
What's the current situation in Thailand these days? Specially in Bangkok? Is it safe for a tourist to go there? Just opened the website for World Central Plaza Mall & they said its closed due the to political issues!

I haven't been able to activate it and after talking to someone at Tukcom he said it won't work for internet only phone. Said I could call and get it converted or something but couldn't understand part of what he said. Did I buy the wrong sim or could someone give me directions on what to do?

I report this as it may be of interest if you are thinking of doing business here.
Consider a typical Patong Beach guest house of 3 floors plus lobby (in this case the lobby is also used as internet cafe, but without any succes). It has (I think) 15 rooms available to rent), I estimate it to be 600 sqm.
Brand new building of some quality. Purchased late 2009 for THB 18M (USD 600,000, that is 1 grand per square meter). Down payment was approx 5M, 13M loan (30yr, probably fixed approx 7.5%) Monthly payment 90,500. Meaning you need a daily of 3,000 only to break even to mortgage. Currently, she is not making that, so still bleeding money into it. WIll the future / high season be better? Buddha only knows.
The interesting human aspect is better understood with the following, I show to the owner how she will repay 32M THB to the bank over the lenght of the loan. She takes the calculator and cannot get to the same result, she was forgetting there are 12 months in a year. I am astonished how a single mom without english and previous hotel experience, dared to take such a big risk that can easiliy wipe our all her savings forever. I would not ever do that, not even in my wildest expat dreams, not even with a 3% loan.
Now guess who made the best deal here (beside the bank). Easy, someone had bought the land with whatever old dwelling for say 3M or 4M, built three floors for 9M, resold for 18M, pocketed 6M to the expense of an hard-working, long-term thinking woman.
Do this 10 times a year, and I start to understand how some Thai men drive around in latest model Audis, and party to the tune of 8,000 THB champagne bottles at the discos where falangs don't belong.

CIM is probably not difficult to find, though I've only ever done it at blow job bars. Anal I always look for, but it is not commonplace - basically the women who are over 30 are fairly likely to provide it (maybe 30-40%), a few of the 25-30 can (say 10%), and among the young cuties under 25 it is a great rarity (maybe 1%). It stands to reason as its a way for the less desirable old girls to find a customer - young cuties have plenty of customers so there's no reason to bother with painful extras. Special clothes I'm sure would be no problem, but gangbangs (multiple guy) would definitely depend on the girl - some might be frightened if you spring that on them the first time. However multiple girl will be no problem for nearly all.

For playboys with their Thai cuties, the brunch the Sheraton is defintely impressive, 17 types of REAL bread, an equal amount of pastries, dynamite dim-sum, lots of salmon dishes, several beef/pork/chicken selections, and check out that cheese board. Two different kinds of orange juice, along with many others, and the coffee is xlnt. No attitude from the wait staff if you are draggin' a ho' there either.
If we are talking a real for real Sunday brunch, leave the ho' with her homies and simply head on over to the Four Seasons, (best martini in town?) grilled giant shrimp, king crab, Alaskan halibut, rack of lamb, Harris Ranch steaks, etc. The shitake mushroom risotto is out of this world, and the foie gras to die for. Superb wine list and incredibly cool atmosphere. 2350++ Baht pp, and freakin' damn well worth it. Take me with you. :D

Interesting article in the Bangkok Post today about a proposed increase in the minimum wage, presently at a paltry 206 baht per day. Many low level workers would have to work 12 hours per day, 30 days per month to make wages of less than 6000 baht per month … even in BKK … that’s less than $200 USD even at today’s lousy exchange rate. This means that all the shop girls and waitresses we see busting their butts for long hours every day are earning barely enough to stay alive.
No wonder the brave ones turn to hooking to make ends meet. And no wonder they’re all looking for a rich farang boyfriend.

Well, its not for massive quantities of bacon & eggs – there are plenty of cheap buffets for that. Its for quality!
Haven’t been to the Four Seasons yet but based on Barkos rec. I’ll have to try it. I stay at the Peninsula and they have a very good buffet for about 700BHT (though their dinner buffet is off the charts but expensive). The other 2 hotels in the triangle are the Shangri-La and the Oriental. Yes, the Oriental is very good and I haven’t tried the Shangri-La yet but they are all on the river, have free shuttle boats to each others piers and the Thaksin skytrain station and the whole experience has NEVER failed to impress the ladies and you get some great food as well.
I would imaging that the other "real" 5 star hotels like the DusitThani and Plaza Athenae will have great buffets as well. Lastly, the State Tower (Lebua) with thier top floor open air restaurant on the 80th floor is probably pretty good as well as they have a great view.

Lots of basically normal people spend more than $80 on THEIR Friday night in the US for a really lousy steak & a stupid ass crap movie, both instantly forgettable. And, lots of people lose more than that in 1 minute at a Black-Jack table in Vegas any time, any day of the week, again, instantly forgotten at the next round of cards. Retarded? Yep, but, there it is.
I guarantee that you will NOT easily forget the Sunday brunch at the Four Seasons. Sometimes you can spoil yourself a little, you really can. And for $80? You could do a lot worse.
Justification: I mean really, think about it, these people are so serious about this food thing that they fly the ultra gourmet "Echire butter" for their Bearnaise steak sauce in from La Rochelle France every Saturday morning. And, yes the sauce is absolutely completely insane, something that interrupts and reorganizes your entire thought process about the way you think of food. Everything there at the Four Seasons brunch is at this level. And, all for eighty smackdogs? It's a steal, it really is. Dude, it ain't eggs n' bacon.

These people are so serious about this food thing that they fly the ultra gourmet "Echire butter" for their Bearnaise steak sauce in from La Rochelle France every Saturday morning. And, yes the sauce is absolutely completely insane, something that interrupts and reorganizes your entire thought process about the way you think of food. I was thinking about Lord Jim's Buffet Lunch. I was very impressed with the joint when I dined there. 5* plus. Buffet Lunch - 12am-2:30pm
Recently I had the pleasure of dining with David_33, who treated me to a fantastic lunch buffet at the Majestic Grand. Many thanks for the excellent food and even better conversation, David.
The buffet is superb, IMHO. It costs 300B, and has some of the best buffet food I have had in a long time. The room itself was mostly filled with locals, which tells you something. In addition to the buffet typical options (you know, the steamed crab, the yellow curry, etc.) there were loads of seafood options, a satay grill, several options of bread, lots of dessert options, and excellent coffee to follow. The thing is that the food didn't taste like buffet food - it wasn't the usual bland, stale kind of food that has been mass-prepared. It tasted pretty damned good, IMHO. All for a paltry 300B. David did insist we arrive as close to 11:30am as possible though, and he was right - by 1pm (when we left), the place was full and the food was running thin.

Comparing the Ruth's Chris chain to the Four Seasons Bangkok is like trying to compare that "really cool" diamond ring you bought at Zales to a "D, E, Investment Grade, Exceptional white, River, Princess cut pure white" 3 carat stone that you specifically flew to Antwerp to purchase. We are talking two COMPLETELY different frames of thought. The former is worth less than 15% of the purchase price the nanosecond after you plunked down your Visa debit card. The latter, however, not only worth the intense rush it gave you when you first bought the thing, that little rock is so rare that it will be worth 100% more 5 years down the road, and 100% more 5 years after that, (or 16 times more than what you bought it for after 20, or 64 times the original cost after 30.) The longer you own it, the more it is worth, (and of course, the more you enjoy it.)
It's just like a great memory.
My 1980 Porsche has been a great delivery system for some incredible memories that I will cherish and take to my grave. I can't take the CAR with me, of course, but the memories, I can, (and will.) Fortunately, the car is worth far more now than the day I bought it. On the other hand, the 1980 Mustang Ghia that I bought for my (long since ex) wife 30 years ago, the one she just HAD TO HAVE, is long gone, dead & buried, or, possibly, a little teeny tiny part of the stainless steel in your disposable razor blade that you used to shave with this morning. Virtually worthless.
Memories are everything, and the Four Seasons does a really great job of providing them. If you are still a non-believer, just try the place this Sunday to know what you are talking about. It's not about throwing away money at all, it's about creating memories.

If I had to choose Ruth Chris or Four Seasons BKK Sunday buffet, I would choose without hesitation the Four Seasons. I stayed at the Four Seasons BKK the year it changed over from the Regent. They gave me a great deal back then: $140 for an upgraded deluxe room with a pool view. The Sunday buffet was impressive.
It is my experience that not all Ruth Chris’s are of the same quality. There is a real good one in my home town in South Florida where I have had consistently excellent meals although I think I prefer the Capital Grill. I have tried other R.C.’s elsewhere that were downright mediocre.
I am originally from Chicago and I remember back in the 70’s & early 80's how great the steaks were at Morton’s, years ago before they got bought out and franchised. That was a foodie memory! I think Lord Jim’s is at that level or higher for seafood.
In any case, there is no denying that BKK is a food paradise among other things.

Hey Always, I can't think of a better place to come for a post divorce vacation. Thailand will make you happy.
As to how to split your time, my advice is dependent on what time you arrive in BKK on your international flight and what you indicated where your preferences.
If you arrive before 4pm, I would take a taxi from the airport straight to Pattaya. It is a 90 minute ride leaving you plenty of time to check into your hotel, relax, and have a bite to eat before hitting the Walking Street Go Go's. What a first night that will be! I would spend 4 nights in Pattaya total and then fly Bangkok Air from Pattaya (UTP) nonstop to Phuket. Phuket night life is ok, but it can't compare to Pattaya. What Phuket has though, are real nice beaches. It depends on your tastes and preferences, but I would only spend 3 days in Phuket (unless I was really into scuba or dig the beach scene). The reason I recommend only three nights in Phuket is because I like Bangkok and women best, beaches second and less than five days in the big mango is not enough time for me. But it will give you a damn good intro into what the town has to offer i.e. great restaurants, culture, and beautiful girls in multiple venues (Go Go's, Soapies, oily's, & bars). A lot of guys like Pat over BKK and they would probably advise 5 or 6 days in Pat minimum. It's up to you. No matter how you slice the pie, I don't see how you can go wrong.
If your flight arrives later than 6pm, I would recommend reversing my suggested itinerary above and spend the first 5 nights in BKK. Then fly down to Phuket and play in the sun. Last but not least, I would fly from Phuket to Pattaya (UTB) and wrap things up in Pattaya for 4 or 5 nights. And then take a taxi straight to the BKK airport. Logistically, just make sure of your flight dates in and out of Phuket before you book your international flight.
Given the continuing strength of the Thai baht and the Thai's business sense of less custom equals raise prices I would suggest people plan other places for their vacation.
Philippines is cheap now compared to Thailand and you get no hassle with lack of spoken English.

Following on from posts made by other members in August about microsims, is there anywhere to get normal sims cut down to microsims properly in BKK or Pattaya?
I am aware that you CAN cut them yourself with a sharp knife, and a pair of scissors (or a razer blade), using your current microsim as a template. However, the risk to my current sim and the bought sim(s) (I have ruined fairly simple home DYI electronics things before), and the probability that it won't cost much more to get somene else to do it means I thought I would ask.
Every second telephone shop in Melbourne has signs about this service "cheap," so has anyone seen the same in Thailand?

If it's your first trip then go to both so that you have experienced both. I would spend a bit less time in BKK than in Patts since Patts is cheaper, is next to the ocean and has a beach and is pretty much a mongering only place. I would say spend three nights in Bangkok, then seven nights in Pattaya.

I'm to be located part time in Sukhumwit a couple of km past On Nut BTS Station. Need to buy a good comfortable quality bed Queen mattress at reasonable price. Not cheap Thai hard mattresses! What are best places to look? Any local knowledge appreciated.

It's nice to enjoy a few drinks while watching the pretty girls without cigarette smoke from some asshole sitting next to you drifting into your face and up your nose. If they want to smoke, fine, but they should go outside the bar.
If the cops can make money raiding bars for 'prostitution' and other violations, why can't they do the same for allowing smoking on the premises? A few thousand baht fine to the manager would solve the problem IMHO. They'd stop putting ashtrays out for customers in a hurry.

Unfortuately buddy those places are far and few these days especially in this town! Personally I don't like the smoke either but pretty much have given up since I got to get my fix from time to time at the go-go's! Just the other night I was at Heaven Above! (just don't see what so special about this place?) Farang next to me that smell like he hasn't taken a shower in days and another in front of me that smoke ( although the sign said no smoking ) between the two I enjoy the smoke better! For some reason I can tolerate the smoking but can't tolerate someone not taking a shower!

Three suggestions:
1) Durex Fetherlite (that is the proper spelling) are the most sheer.
2) At the bottom of the back side of every condom box, in the bottom right corner, is a number indicating the circumference. Buying something larger than 52 should be helpful.
3) Avoid Durex Performa, they have a gel designed to diminish sensation so as to increase performance time.

Hmmm, buddy and I had to relocate seats last week while in Patpong because of smoking Dancers in one of the corners and smoking Japanese guys in the other.
I've awoken after many a night in Patpong only to smell my shirts and gag at the stench of cigarettes.

I agree with the accessments between fumes from vehicles and smoking, but to say that those expressing their views are " arse / idiot " is a pretty one dimension dementia point of view which one can say about your point of view regarding vehicles fumes but no one has gone so far as to make any reference to a personal attack!

Although Hua Hin is not as popular as Pattayia, you should be able to find someone at the airport ready to take you there during normal working hours. I would imagine you would pay 2,000 plus (Hua Hin is on the coast on the other side of BKK). Not as cheap as Pattaya but that is because the driver needs to be sure he will get a return journey and he will not be as sure of that in Hua Hin. You could have problems if you arrive late evening as the drivers will assume that there is no chance of a return journey to Bangkok.

I have done this before for Pattaya and there was no problem, there are plenty of touts around and I speak some Thai words and can haggle hard. In fact I found a good deal, cheaper than booking in advance and a nice car.
The thing is I just don't know if they are touts around that are prepared to go to Hua Hin, it's a long way and not much chance of a return fare, so it's different to Pattaya.
Anyone knows if there are taxis for Hua Hin in the aiport without booking in advance and also how much they offer for a one way trip... ?

Three suggestions:
1) Durex Fetherlite (that is the proper spelling) are the most sheer.
2) At the bottom of the back side of every condom box, in the bottom right corner, is a number indicating the circumference. Buying something larger than 52 should be helpful.
3) Avoid Durex Performa, they have a gel designed to diminish sensation so as to increase performance time.

Anyway, I bought myself a blood pressure monitor to check my readings while I am away on business. A couple of days travelling and the numbers were still on overload. :(
But then today, BP has dropped to normal levels. :) And all I have done is had a couple of awesome bonks with the gf...
Of course what it is, is those little blue pills. They dilate the blood vessels, allowing blood to reach the important parts, and at the same time lowering the overall pressure. Just checked on-line, but trust me, I am a doctor.
So the solution is simple. To live longer, bonk longer and oftener... :)

I have a 3 entry tourist visa which is good until end of April 2011. I have to leave Thailand on the 28th of December (I know very bad timing due to New years and all that) but I was wondering what would be the consequences/fine if I were to not leave Thailand on the 28th of dec and instead leave in the first week of Jan 2011? Am I going to be blacklisted? Forbidden entry in Thailand for the next x months/years? Or worse, deported?
I'd like some feedback on that matter and as to whether I should pay top $ and leave Thailand towards the most expensive time of the year to travel anywhere or stay here for an extra week and then leave Thailand for my visa run? What would you experienced gents recommend/suggest?

after a long delay, the tot has finally decided to speed up the process for the 3g bidding, saying the first phrase will be in service by the second quarter of next year.
the tot board will grant a permit to only one lowest bidder to operate the third-generation telecomunication service (3g) for the whole country. the tot said the system was very complicated and should, therefore, be operated by only one company, which will be required to use the same equipment throughout the nation.
ais and true move have already sent their subsidaiary companies to join the tot in operating the 3g service. the two companies are acting as mobile virtural network operator (mvno) for the time being.
the terms of reference (tor) have been completed and are now under the attorney general offices consideration. the bidding wil take place in december and the name of the winning company wil be announced in january of next year.
the service is planned in three phases. the first phase, in which the service will be provided in important areas, is expected to be available in the 2nd quarter of 2011. serviced in the second phase will be provided for bangkok, four surrounding provinces, and 13 other economic provinces; it should be in operation within 180 days after the first phase has been in place.
the third and final stages, which will cover the whole country, will be completed within 4 years. the tot expect that the 3g service will be able to support up to seven million numbers.

3G is available in Chaing Mai and in select areas around shopping malls (MBK) in Bangkok, and at the airport, but the service is spotty at best, it is still in a "test" phase. That is what I know at this point, my air card is 3G, but I still am using the edge network, as I am not near BKK or CM, but I will be in BKK in a few weeks, and I will see what I connect with. I understand that is is running on 2100mhz and there was some testing on 900mhz. Please let us know if you have any additional information.
But as in all things in LOS, it could change tomorrow ;)

Durex Avanti were made of polyprop. Didn't stretch much, so there was no squeeze factor on my larger than average. Never complained about 'not being able to feel a thing' when using these. I'm unable to find where Durex states what the original Avanti was made of. Some sources (and my memory) say polypropylene, others say polyurethane. Just checked Air Philippines site, BKK-Mnl return for 4200Baht + taxes. Seems like a deal, depending on your travel dates. Ok, you still have to get to AC, easy enough though.
Always seeing cheap deals in agents around Soi's 5 & 7. The missus and I saw a sandwich board in Pratunam last Monday with crazy prices via Air Asia to similar locations. My gut feel is shop around once you arrive, always last minute cheap deals available to fill seats.
Have a friend in AC at present, the sod is sending me pics of little angels day and night! As my missus is not P4P, she is not impressed by this. .
