13th Salario and the guaranteed annual raise (7-7. 3% in SP / Rio this year) are horrible items for Brazilian businesses. It's a vicious cycle of inflation. I have PJs (businesses) under monthly contract who write a 13th salary payment into their contracted rates! I can't imagine getting a 7% guaranteed annual raise in the USA. Your choice in Brazil is to fire someone or give them a raise, and if you fire them before the annual raise (dissidio) comes out, they can challenge you for not having waited until after it came out (as it affects their severance). I really feel bad for anyone that did not visit before the closing of Help. The Olympics will bring a great number of visitors, be them tourists or people involved, in various levels and tasks with the organization. So the town will have X amount of people more than usual. A good percentage of them will not be un attracted by the fame of Brazil and Rio: the girls. Girls they can mainly access through the P4P (I doubt many romances will be generated between visitors and locals).
So from one side there will be more customers and form the other side the girls will not be many more than usual (even accounting those moving there from other areas in view of potential business) , surely not sufficient to cope with the increase demand. Even if a visitor will only partake a P4P once or twice during his stay. Not a hardcore monger, but will still represent an additional customer.
That already will be a sufficient reason for the girls to stick to their prices.
Another reason will be that the price police can control only a small fraction of the market.
So the visitors will pay what asked as anyhow reasonable if not cheaper than at home, plus the "exotic" factor steps in. Some visitors will never have a chance to sample a garrota again, so they pay whatever. Once in a lifetime opportunity.
Looks at the costs of CSI in Asia: far dearer than the locals and relative few. Still there is people feeding the business as they are in Asia but know they never go to Russia.

Copa do Mundo will bring a lot of tourists to Brazil, even though less that the most greedy are expecting. Clearly there will be more GPs around, in Rio just as well in all the other brazilian cities which holds Copa. E.g in Manaus there is a large cruiser coming in the harbour every second week filled with gringo tourists. Like flies on shit there suddenly turns up loads of golddiggers offering their services. Women who normally don't do programs. In Rio there will most likely be lots of fresh talents from Zona Norte.
What the freelancing GPs will charge during Copa nobody knows. They don't reason by logic. Maybe they reason like the Balcony girls. The smart ones ask for R$150-200 but goes down to R$80-100 when necessary and have 2-3 customers in a good evening. Or maybe they do like the stupid majority: sit on their fat asses all evening insisting of getting R$200-300 and only have about 2 customers every week. Business going so bad that they insist of not lowering their prices, or even raising their prices which (by brazilian logics) means that they earn more money.

Look at the salary of professionals in Brazil. A 22 years old, entry level- fresh out of college, construction engineer earns a starting salary of 20, 000 Reais a month ( $10, 000 US). With five years experience, the salary jumps to 30, 000 Reais. Construction companies who can't get enough of them , lure them by offering them a signing bonus. His counterpart in the US is LUCKY to get a third of that. Same with IT, doctors, economists, etc.
These are the people the GDP are going after. And there are millions of them. Not the cheap old broke fart tourist pao duro who is crying over 100 Reais and lamenting the old cheap ass days of Rio (me included).

If you Believe for one second that the average starting salary for a 22-year-old fresh out of college in Brazil is US$120, 000 per year in any profession then you obviously don't know much about the Brazilian economy, or the world economy for that matter.

If you Believe for one second that the average starting salary for a 22-year-old fresh out of college in Brazil is US$120, 000 per year in any profession then you obviously don't know much about the Brazilian economy, or the world economy for that matter.
Look at the salary of professionals in Brazil. A 22 years old, entry level- fresh out of college, construction engineer earns a starting salary of 20, 000 Reais a month ($10, 000 US). With five years experience, the salary jumps to 30, 000 Reais. Construction companies who can't get enough of them, lure them by offering them a signing bonus. His counterpart in the US is LUCKY to get a third of that. Same with IT, doctors, economists, etc.

So in the first good news I've seen in a while, Termas Monte Carlo actually is in the middle of a remodel. They are remodeling all the rooms on the 4th floor (the one with the girls' changing room and the medical examiner's room) , and they also are I believe replacing the massage room (on the 2nd floor with the showers) with a giant suite. Some of the rooms are already done. Basically they are putting rooms that are around 1. 5x-2x as large as the small standard room, completely new. New beds, new walls, and each will have a new bathroom. At a minimum a sink and toilet, and a bunch with showers. See pics attached of one that is already done. It was actually really nice. And while wear and tear will take their toll (I'm expecting quickly, given the quality or lack thereof of most Brasilian reformas) , seeing it right now it was in great shape. Apparently it may actually extend to remodeling the male bathroom on the 2nd floor, though I was told that would be last if it happens. Anyway, take a look in the pics attached and tell me that is not the cleanest, most gleaming white toilet you have ever seen in a Terma.
Of course this all means the city will likely figure out how to close MC down LOL. Anyway, good to see them putting the higher prices to work. And yeah it really is something like 900+ loyalty points now for a free entrada. It does seem that Ivan, the manager guy who greets the tourists, is willing to cut people deals where their entrada goes to consumption etc so don't hesitate to ask him when you are going in. The termas have nothing to do with how Rio is viewed. You have to really be looking for these places to find them. Now places like Balcony and of course Help that's another story. It pretty obvious what is / was going on. I can undersrtand wanting to remove that but termas? Come on. They're out of sight to anyone who is not a monger.

This is my first post. After 4 ½ years I went back to Copacabana last trip 5/2009 Help's last month. This was my 12th and final trip to Rio. I really feel bad for anyone that did not visit before the closing of Help. I landed on November 26th in the morning, went to the beach instead of finding topless beauties, I saw a bunch of gay guys and families, kids, and tourist. Back in the day I never ventured farther than the beach and Help. I am not a termas guy, all my work was done on those two spots. It was a 100% chance you would get a GFE experience. It was in fact my first spot in Rio ever and it is friendly and the girls in general good value. Make sure you let them know what you expect from them and agree upfront to ensure this 1 shot turns into 3 shots! LOL. Also providing you had a good time, get their number and arrange to meet them on the Sunday. If they don't have kids they will. Since our favorite spot, L'uomo is closed we were hoping some of the other major terms would be willing to accept another woman as customer, as part of a couple. Our first stop was to Centaurus, mostly because it was very close to our hotel, but also figuring since it was such a popular place and so close to the holiday they would have the most girls. We were stopped outside at the door and told that my wife could not enter. Bummer, but probably for the best because this place is a pain in the ass.
Next stop, heading the good advice from another fellow monger on this site, we went ahead and went to Cancun, actually Manhattan, the Whiskeria. We got to the door and the door person just asked our names for the drink ticket. We entered the bar downstairs, sat down, ordered a couple of drinks, and started watching the girls walk by. I would say on average lower quality than L'oumo, because that's all we can compare to, but overall about 40% of the girls we were attracted to. It took about 30 minutes before a girl got brave enough to sit down with us, but it was one that we were making eyes on. We don't speak Portuguese and she didn't speak English. Didn't matter, her and my wife were all over each other in about 5 minutes. Then her friend sat down, a little spinner with an incredible ass, and her and I got acquainted. We ended up going upstairs to a large room with a jacuzzi and a huge bed. My wife and her girl were going at it in the jacuzzi while my girl and I were on the bed. A few side notes:

A funny note:

I had to share an experience which I found pretty funny and poignant and possibly useful.

BruceI have to disagree with you. You definetely stayed in the old mongering ground zero but nowadays all the action in my humble opinion takes place in Centro.
There are many termas there that are way cheaper than Copa:MV30, T31, Face, Florida, T505, 119, T81-even 4 x 4 is cheaper if you hit it early and thats not even counting the endless termas in other areas and the privees. I might stay in Copa or Ipanema but I hit Centro. You are definetely correct that you will strike out with non-pros if you don't know portugese.
If you want to get further, learn some more porto and hit Lapa at night and cristovao thur-Sunday-plenty of cariocas.
I think on the contrary actually. Come to think of it, you can go and do a session at MC and have great chemistry and meet up outside for free-the initial outlay might be the only one and then it doesn't look so bad. I for one feel Rio is great but you do have to know where to go and ideally speak. I have now learnt portugese in 7 months, I'm pretty fluent now and it has made a huge difference in terms of being able to show more of my personality and the chicas being able to be themselves more.

Somebody told me airbnb was interesting but all the places are not girlfriendly since most of the people offer a room in their house or the house rules says nao trazer convidados' (no visitors allowed). So I guess I have to look for a hotel. But which hotels accept me take home a girl for the night? I also wonder which room exactly I need. Quarto duplo? I need a simple hotel with pivate room and batroom. Thats it. And liberty to invite girls off course. If anyone could help me with this that would be so great. I'm happy to take you out if you're in Rio from the 18th untill 25th of June-)

I chose carefully: The cheapest place I found was Tonelero (no "s") 169, where I paid 80 reales for 30 minutes. (Second-best was 95 reales at Tonelero 173.) In addition, on my previous visit to 169, I was attracted to a girl named Julia, but another guy who was there first selected her. She stuck in my mind, so I went there first thing this morning, right around opening time at 10 am.
Sure enough, Julia was there, along with another pretty girl, and I was the only customer, so I had my pick! I quickly chose Julia, and we headed to a room. This guy rents entire apartments not rooms. Visitors are allowed by doing the registration at the main gate of the building. If the security guard sees you with a girl he will not stop you. If you do an outcall (girl comes to you) the girl will have to sign in downstairs and the security will call you to let you know that you have a visitor and if you would like to bring her up. Just send him an email with all your questions. Cool dude.

All the info was correct.Hotel Praia Lido in Copa on Nosso Sehnora should solve your problems. It's pretty reasonable in price (regular roomatR$175) and very girl friendly. You will only need to pay extra for bringing two girls. You are are also a block from balcony and buses to Centro stop in front of the hotel.

decided to give balcony's r$14 breakfast buffet which includes eggs, bacon, potatoes, bagels, waffles and a number of other items a try.
balcony advertises that the food is the best on the beach and especially for the price. i have to agree. in general the food prices are very reasonable, portions are large and everyone i have talked with enjoys the food. the breakfast buffet was well worth the money and is served from 4:00 am to 10:00 am. the server eliana was very attentive and david, the owner, even stopped by to ask what they could do better. for those of you looking for company, there were a few very doable girls either still up or up early hanging around.

Potential protests during World Cup.
I was in Rio during June, July, and part of August last year during the soccer tournament, and there were many demonstrations and so forth. Streets were closed off, buss. Were closed, and ofcourse some idiots began to rob and destroy properties while others were peacefully protesting for a valid cause. There has been very little talk about how more of these actions can take place again during the World Cup games. That being said, I have a hunch more planned, and detailed protests are being planned in the upcomming months. It even has me thinking and hesitant on buying a ticket for a visit during the games.
