Figured I'd share what I know about getting a COVID test in Rio for return to the USA Unlike Brasil, the USA Only requires an antigen test which is faster and cheaper. I got mine at Pacheco pharmacy in Centro. It's at Rua dos Andradas 41 where it meets Buenos Aires. Nice, stylish old-fashioned type pharmacy with large wood & glass cabinets. Cost is are $120 and you get results in about 10 minutes. Next day and even same-day appointments were available. The USA Entry requirement is 3 calendar days (antigen or PCR) as opposed to 72 hours in Brasil (PCR only). I was tested at 3:00 pm and traveled 3 days later at 11:25 pm which was about 80.5 hours later with no problem. There's an app you can download called VeriFly which allows you to complete check-in requirements in advance. When you're done you get a checkmark screen you can show at the airport to speed things up. Otherwise, you'll need to complete a 1 page attestation at the airport. Also of note is if you plan to use VeriFly, your test needs to be within a 72 hour window rather than 3 calendar days as described above. You upload a photo of your test result in the app and are approved / denied after a quick review. Hope somebody finds this useful.

Do you remember Aquarius on Rua Acre? That's gone too. Club Afrodite which is kitty corner from 210 on Uruguiana between Presidente Vargas and Marechal Floriano is worth a look. 210, 13, Vanessa 05, and 119 Rua Alfandega all have the same owner. I like 13 the best personally but heard 119 has been good lately. Don't like their steep ass stairs though, fall and break your neck like at 03 Leandro Martins. Better not come out of there drunk LOL. There's a newer place at Praa Monte Castelo 26 where I've seen some nice ones. Not sure if some of those Centro clubs, where around as far back as Bar Florida, Aquarius on Rua Acre or even (the legendary) 85 Rua Buenos Aires, and if so, perhaps under another named incarnation. Centro de Lazer 13 and 15, U24, U210, MV30 are long standing centro establishments. Leandro Martins 3 and 5 (now called Vanessas).

For most MBs that know many of the P4P centro establishments well, going up and down the stairwells, as always been an ongoing, long standing complaint. Never fallen, but I've come close countless times. And don't get some MBs started on the infamous spiral stairs at 85 Rua Buenos Aires...kkkk.
The Praca Maua luncheonettes (a favorite of mine), were pretty awesome back then, when Praca Maua area had tons of construction work happening. Many of the "blue collar" luncheonettes (if you got there early enough and there was still food), allowed you to load up your plate on carbs (ie. , pasta, potatoes, rice and peas...etc) and then gave you one choice of meat. Which they doled out very sparingly. Sometimes, you didn't need to eat for the rest of the day.
Today, Kilo restaurants have taken over and are way more expensive, but way better quality food. Centro Kilo restaurants, are still a better are R$/kilo option than most Copa or Zona Sul, kilo places during the lunch hours, especially if you happen be sessioning downtown.
FWIW, even today, there may well still be a small number of these "blue collar" venues dotted about, although your YMMV w/r to fun and/or gems to be found.
So the lesson is...for the adventurous, it can be a lot of fun and rewarding, taking some time to suss out, Praca Maua (or Centro) and the surrounding areas.
Many of the boates, termas or clubs, ONLY open early evening to late night. So be careful and mindful of where you are!

I did the Copa / ZS thing many years ago but Centro / ZN has been my realm ever since. Do you remember Face Club on Rua Quitanda / Ouvidor? It only lasted a short time but it was nice. More upscale than Cancun or 65 at the time. Had my birthday there in 2013 and Mr. Catra (RIP) performed, it was dope!
My thinking on all "trash" spots is "on any given day". That's part of the thrill, not knowing who you might see. I've seen girls in VM one day and Monte Carlo the next. Literally. And vice versa!

Seems that my field report from just before the pandemic never got sent. I had a great time hitting up the prives. I stayed in a VRBO apt. Right on Atlantic, across from the beach. Almost around the corner was Copa 583. Let me make it clear, I go for quantity, not the highest quality. A guy at the corner was handing out coupons for a short session for 30 RS. I tried it once just to get started. There was a selection of 5 chicas, all young and cute. It was a bit rushed, but Ok. On future trips there, I "splurged" for a 60 Rs session. The other area I tried were the many downtown prives, near Metro Carioca station. I'd never see anything like it, what looked like normal office buildings, 20 stories high, had prives mixed in with normal commercial offices. The room numbers in the forum posts were often still accurate, but several buildings had guys handing out coupons with the exact current office numbers. But the AA website says 72 hours from when you board the plane on your first leg to GIG. So if you take the test on Monday at 5 PM and your first leg to Miami is at 1:30 PM they will accept this even though it's more than 72 hours from 11 PM your actual flight to Brazil. I just wanted to mention this.

What's up fellas. Booked my first ever trip to Rio for memorial day. I'll be there 7 days. I've been to Dominican republic a few times in Sosua but never the home of the booty LOL. I've been doing my research on this board but I'm not sure how much has changed since covid. What's the best place to stay. I'm going with my 2 brothers and we're all in our early 30's and love a to party. Somewhere by the beach and all the action that's guest friendly. Also what's some dos and don'ts that I should know and the average price. I don't want to mess up the economy there like there doing in Sosua LOL. I flew back in Rio from SP on Tuesday morning. Thanks GOL. It was a rainy / cloudy day in RJ. I felt a little drained by the afternoon and decided to take it easy and do a Barra VIP's girl rather than check out my 1st Terma. I started going down to Rio with my buddies in my early thirties. Some things have changed, but the fuck all night, have a late breakfast and nap on the beach routine has not changed. The exception is now I might not fuck all night.
Before senior members snap at you, I would tell you to read back a few months. I don't think you really have. (Millennials don't handle criticism very well. LOL.) You will get more info and varying perspectives that you can synchronize to your style. You can come back and ask precise questions instead of the usual newbie "tell me all about Rio" posts.
I recommend newbies to Rio stay in the middle of Copacabana. If you want a bit nicer neighborhood, you can stay in very close by Ipanema. Both have decent beaches where you can roll out of bed and hit the sand. From the Copa / Ipanema area, you can metro or uber to the Centro termas and prives. You will also find some in Copa, but do check out the scene in Centro. You could also metro to Barra to see a more modern and affluent area. It's nice, but I don't find it as walkable as Copa and Ipanema.
While young guys with some game should try to mix it up with the civilian girls, you should do some research on the current club scene and the Lapa street fest (near Centro) on other non-sex sites. COVID is likely changing the openings and hours. Keep apprised of some street parties when you are on the ground. The situation is fluid. A young guy should befriend a young desk clerk (male or female) or a shop clerk who speaks English and get the down low from a young local. Perhaps people are congregating without official blessing from the city.
As far as "where do I go to find the big booty ladies? The question is really "Where aren't there big booty ladies in Rio?" You can find big booty ladies all over Rio. Some guys might disagree with this next very simple generalization. I would say if you drew a line from Centro, down through Copacabana and Ipanema and on to Barra, the truly big booty women will diminish as you moved from Centro to Barra. Apparently there is a little private rooftop pool which is shared by two other apartments, however with COVID I've got a suspicion that I might be the only tenant, so that sounds good. I can think of worse things than skinny dipping with an 18 year old nymphomaniac. The reviews are good. Additionally, I've private messaged the owner and he is completely on board with my extracurricular activities. He is also American and seems to be on the same page. Many airbnb owners are NOT girl friendly.

I headed into Centro on the 14 h20 bus from Transamerica.
I got off at the stop at Av Presidente Wilson 147, the old Bedoin Cafe.

RJ has hiking to cool waterfalls and beaches in Barra all in the same day, and termas like Perola Negra literally on the beach.

Can anyone go over the process for entering and exiting Brazil from the US?
This is what I have so far.

*Need to take COVID-19 test beforehand (Walgreens offers a free 24 HR one, the Rapid test).

It looks to me that (including me) people overlooked the demise of the reais. It lost a third of it's value versus the Euro alone in the last year or so. For me a game changer. I think another thing that should be mentioned about what you pay is that I never have a real problem with the price people pay assuming they do their research. Ignoring a quick trip that some here have mentioned where there is no real time to gauge the market (go wild if you must, IMO), you should always try exploring the different price points to see what fits best. I find that many guys search for GFE and that is not always a given with a higher price tag, and I think a lot of the veteran members have rightly made that point. You must know a different Brazil because what you describe is not the normal Brazilian chick that I know. I've been warned to be careful in the following cities aside from Rio: SP, Manaus, Sao Luiz (multiple times in my two separate 1-night stays including a cabby who told me not to walk 200-300 yards across the central plaza to my hotel late at night), Iguassu (warned repeatedly by the well-meaning locals), Salvador (again warned repeatedly by the well-meaning locals), Porto Allegro (by an expat couple living there for 10 years). Some of the capitals have touristic bairros where you can feel quite safe at night. In 31 years I've never been mugged in Brazil. I think you could feel safe as long as you use common sense. On the other hand if you walk into the wrong street and are unlucky you might get robbed.

Security is something I have written a lot about in the last year and a half. Mainly it comes down to situational awareness. The biggest things are simple, like not being on your cell phone at a outdoor cafe in Copa or in Centro at night where the risk of theft is obvious and high.
Wingmen are key. Talk about security even minimally at first. Plan if there is a threat is go away and get into an uber, or if necessary a cop.
