Set your camera metering to spot. This will prevent the in house low lighting from confusing the camera. 2. If you can turn on the flash. And set youe ISO to around 200. This should allow you to capture all of the terma goodness. Puta Playa, The sensor in your Canon is usually a dead on. Just keep the camera in auto and turn on the flash. The Powershots take great pictures.

I use a pretty basic Cannon 5MP camera for travel. Its six years old and pretty banged up.
So unlike someone else's excuse about the MP and resizing as the reason for bad pics is incorrect.
You just have to know your camera.

Don't be shy to ask to take photos. Most of these women enjoy posing when you ask nicely especially latinas. BTW, Canon makes good digital cameras. All my uploaded shots on this website were taken with a Canon. Remember also to snap the shutter gently (without movement) for sharp photos.

By March the building had been gutted. Now. 10 months later, note how much of a rush they are in to get the museum built. No activity in the week I've been here. I was in Rio last April. This was my first trip and I enjoyed it beyond description. Lapa reminded me of the French Quarter in New Orleans. I hung out in Lapa from Wednesday-Friday nights. Wednesday was the slowest and of course Friday was the busiest.
I think that if you use common sense and pay attention and make yourself look like an easy target you should be okay. I walked all over the place and I even sat at an outside bar drinking and sampling some of the local foods. I didn't feel unsafe in any way.

Friday) Lapa is NOT where the trannies hang out. Gays yes (mostly in the bars) , trannies no. You will find them a little bit up the road in Gloria.
BTW, there is a decent love motel (Diamond) with a great view of the bay in Gloria. I asked one of the trannies hanging outside if there were any "normal" girls working and he / she said. Sorry you will have to go to Copacabana for that!
