Hi guys,
Hoping I could get some last minute advice for a last minute trip to SJ for this weekend. Trying to pick a hotel. I have only been to SJ once, five years ago, and don't remember much. Stayed at the HDR, at that time. I have read the forums back about 1. 5 years, but still can't get a clear picture. Disappointingly, no good ROD for some time.
Trying to decide between the most commonly mentioned options: HDR, La Amistad, Sportsman, and Zona 2.
The problem is, I don't have a good idea about how far things are. Are Sportsmans, La Amistad, and Zona 2 close enough that you can pick up a girl from HDR and walk back to your hotel? Somebody else asked this question, but the answer wasn't clear to me.
If possible, I want to take advantage of the Amistad free ride to Jaco. But it would also be nice to stay in a hotel with action at the bar, like the other 3. Reports on girl quality are all over the place, so I'll have to see for myself. Would like to avoid the $10 fee at HDR if possible.
Finally, the room descriptions at sportsman lodge talk about rooms in the "modern wing, courtyard, and clubhouse". Recommendations?
They all seem to cost $100/ night. I don't think that there is a price difference.
Thanks in advance!It's an easy walk to Sportsman's or La Amistad (or Zona II for that matter). But the girls are not keen on making the walk. High heels. Plus the added time expediter is my guess. Anyway, dole out the $2 and take a cab back if your with a girl. It will be money well spent.
I'm a fan of La Amsted...price includes the food and drink, as well as NO joiner fee (there's not one at Sportsman's or Zona II either).
I've never stayed at Zona II, but in told that "set" price for the girls goes down to like $22-23 if you stay there...that's a pretty drastic discount.
I meant to say that La Amistad and Sportsman's are very close to each other, not Zona II and La Amistad. Zona II and the Dunn Inn are very close to each other.

Got selected for a somewhat last minute trip work trip to Cost Rica and I want to take full advantage of things. Since it's work related they have a hotel (the boring kind) that I was expected to stay at so none of the fun places Most of the talk about places seem to be hotels with on-site girls. I'd like to know of any decent and reasonably priced places (as I certainly like to visit a few during my week there) where I can show up and have fun on-site there in private room for an hour or a few then head back to my boring hotel for the night.

I have never been to San Jose, so take my comments with that in mind. After reading this thread, I saw that someone recommended the Hotel Morazon, just across the street from the Del Rey, as quieter, so I inquired about their chica status, and they charge nothing for the first woman ($25 if you bring 2). That seemed perfect to me, so I have booked a few nights there when I will pass through in July.I'm here now, the place seems to be fine. Have brought up two different girls at two different times and have not had a problem. Good wifi complementary breakfast safe, clean quite (quitter than the sportsman) good location and decent price for SJ hotel rooms.

Thanks in advance!I would not stay at Zona II its not really a hotel any more but an MP that does have some of the hotel rooms left they can rent out. La Amistad does not have girls hanging out at the bar / restaurant unless you bring them in with you. But the Sportsmans does. La Amistad and Sportsmans are so close you could almost pick up a rock in front of the Amistad and throw it and hit the Sportsman. NO GIRL is going to walk from the Del ray to either the Sportsman or the Amistad and vice versa no girl from the Sportsman is going to walk back to the Del Ray with you. The way it works is you take a cab from either place. Its only a 3 to 5 minute cab ride at most between these two chica centers, the Ray and Sportsman. I'm in town now and will be for a few days if you want to meet up.

Alright fellas just came back from CR last week. Here is my report. Stayed at La Amistad for 4 night all inclusive. The meals and bar was amazing. Went to new fantasy the first day get some action. Only a few good talents. The Sportman lodge was super dead day or night. Figure it was Tuesday but came back Thursday during the basketball game GS vs Clev. LeBron James sucks the place is still dead. Hotel Del Rey was the only place to be. Sat at the table right in the center of the place with a buddy I came down with and watched for my target. Didn't see a lot of of good talents but it wasn't bad either. Same faces just keep walked back and forth between key largo. Finally found a tica, Costa Rican, 24 yo, made a deal with her for 2 hours back to my hotel. Wanted to get a drink from the bar at the hotel. Ordered this drink cost 8 colonies. WTF? Be careful about this too fellas. Make sure you watch what they order when you decide to stop at the bar. You are taking them back to fuck not on a date. But it was all good through, cause she was a good one. Got her pussy pierced. Fucked her all different positions for both hours. Was def worth the money. The next day stop at Zona 2, tried out the cigar, didn't see any good talents. Then head down to Monica. Was 7 girls there. Picked 1, cute face, good fuck for 12 k for 30 minutes. Repeat the same at night at Del Rey. Anyways fellas I had my good first experience there. But a few advice for the new guy never been to here yet- negotiate with the girl clearly before you take them back to your hotel. Once that door close and if you have anything different then you thought, it will be difficult to change depend on the girl too. And get whatapps on your phone most of the girl use that. If you like the girl and want to repeat then this is a good resource. Don't matter if you have your phone from US this shit work on any number.
Ok guys. Just came back from a quick, first trip to the nightlife of San jose. Thanks for all the responses to my questions. There isn't really a good ROD summary for San Jose, so I thought I would post some thoughts that I would have wanted to know two weeks ago.
I chose to stay at the HDR, and it was a good idea. It gets said again and again, but HDR and Key Largo really are ground zero. It's not just the top venue, it is the ONLY reliable venue. I walked by Zona 2 on Friday night, and it was just closed. Scores right next door, was closed. I eyeballed IDEM and Relax, and both were not even worth talking about. In fact, I suspect that these other places are being hyped by people getting paid to.
Having stayed there for a long weekend, I would say that Thursday night is probably the best night. Friday and Saturday are more crowded and higher energy, but not better. Being that its already a high action place, I preferred it slightly subdued. The prettiest bartenders worked on Thursday. There was definitely no shortage of ladies. And many of the ladies, mostly single mom's, want the weekends with their kids, so the variety and quality of women was higher.
I would also disagree with most of the posters here and contend that HDR is the best place to stay. But before any of you start typing in a rage, let me just stipulate that we all have our budgets, and are well advised to stay within them. That being said, if your budget is within I would guess comprise 90% of guys, here is what I would say-- It is just more fun to stay there. Would you go to Vegas and stay at the Motel 6? No. You want to stay at Caesars. It puts you in the right mindset. The ladies love it for obvious reasons. Unless you are bringing up multiple guests day and night, just mentally add $20 to the cost of the room. It's still worth it when you consider that HDR is actually no more expensive than any other decent hotel in the area. Now if they raised their fee, or the cost of the room, I would reconsider. But as it is, I think it makes both fun and financial sense to stay there. Its not that HDR is so unbelieveably great. But its position in the nightlife scene is absolutely singular. So you have to look at the other options and ask yourself "is it worth NOT staying at HDR to stay here?" I never saw a place that came close.
At HDR, the advice I read here about staying in the 4th-6th floor is definitely true. The lower rooms are too loud. The cheapest rooms are $65, $75 after tax, but I would stay away from these. They are very small and look blatantly like "short time" rooms. The next notch up is $80, $90 after tax. These are the ones to get – real hotel rooms. Motel6 level, but definitely legit. And for incrementally more, there are more luxurious rooms.
I eyeballed the other hotels in the area. The only hotels that are truly next door are Morazon Hotel and Sleep Inn, which are literally one block away. Both are cheaper, about $70 after tax. The Morazon is too run down for my taste. The Sleep Inn was decent enough, roughly equivalent to the $90 HDR rooms. This would be a viable alternative, but I would still stay at HDR. HDR is probably THE most successful tourist venue in the city, of any kind. Because of that, you can expect a certain baseline service. For example, the taxi drivers to the airport WILL be reliable and not rip you off. If you reserve through HDR front desk, there is no way they will screw you and risk being blacklisted. The same can be said of anyone and everyone that works there, except for maybe the bartenders, who have a clout all their own.
All the other hotel venues mentioned on this forum, including Sportsmen's, are just too far. Not in absolute terms – its only a 5 -10 minute walk. But rather, its too far to justify not staying at HDR. I stopped by Sportsmen's on Th and FR night. Each time, just about a 10-15 ladies. I saw only one very pretty girl there. The rest were not worth mentioning. Otherwise, the scene was too subdued, and it all shuts down at midnite. That being said, the rooms are maybe a slight notch above HDR. The food is also better. Typical sports bar fair. If there was a big sporting event going on, I would go there to watch it and hang out. The Dunn Inn, another oft-mentioned hotel, is about the same distance away. It's a notch above in terms of room quality, but honestly still not good enough.
In terms of the ladies at HDR, I did meet one very charming young woman. But other than her, the ladies are very business like. Most will ask you to buy them a ladies drink inside of 60 seconds. "I know we just met, but buy me something. " I know its part of the game, but I HATE that and will always send them on their way. In terms of looks, I would rate them the best in Central America, but that's not saying much.
Just a couple of other tips. Several here have touted Diana's Inn as a cheap legit massage. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The "parlor" is a beat up old house, and the massage room is a storage closet with barely enough room for her to move around you. You go face down into one of those you-shaped travel neck pillows with no disposable wrapper. Who knows how many sweaty guys have stuck their face in that. The massage was mostly elbows. Even for $20 it sucked. Immediately after, I went straight to Sportsmen's, where they have a decent, entry level massage parlor. A one hour session for $50. It is the better deal, if just for the facilities.
Interestingly, decent inexpensive restaurants are surprisingly few. In fact, I was surprised at what meals cost. There is a basic platter of rice / beans, a choice of chicken / beef, and a small salad. This basic platter goes for about $6-7. Everything else starts at $12 and up, and may not be very good. The cheapest decent restaurant, or "soda", that I found nearby was Soda Peru. A slight notch up was La Critolla. Both were in the streets between HDR and Sportsmens, so a short walk. Every other meal that I had was shit.
The best exchange rate are at the banks, which was paying out 531 when I was there, but they are usually crowded. The best option is to go to the Bank of San Jose at the airport as soon as you arrive, one level up at the departure level. They pay the same rate, but without the lines. Just keep in mind that they close at 8 pm. Once you hit the HDR, best is to exchange money at the local supermarket. Mas x Mones, or something like that, is just 2-3 blocks southeast from HDR, and has a casa de cambio inside it with the same rate as the banks. And the bonus is, its super cheap for all the other things you want to buy: water, booze, toothpaste, and bottles of Lizano Salsa.

Ended up in CR as a result of a last minute decision. Stayed for a week. Arrived in HDR just after midnight on Monday. Place sucked big time, only about 25 chicks and not one do-able. Waited for an hour and half but there was no sign of even a half decent one so decided to sleep alone rather than throw away $$. Visited Delray everyday afterwards. Place has really slowed down to a crawl. The number of ladies during the day is all time low, mostly less than 10! Unbelievable indeed. However the eye candy factor went up significantly on Tuesday / Wed / Thursday during the day. Evenings were more busy but still there were many times when ratio of men to girls was overwhelmingly 3:1, something I have never seen before. Lots of Ticos are showing up these days esp. In the evenings. Thursday was the busiest evening in terms of girls, about 60-70 easily. Surprisingly the place sucked on Friday evening. May be just about 30-40 girls and they all looked horrible. And if Friday was the night of fuglies, Sat. Was Super Fuglies night. And very quite as well. Less than 40 ladies at peak time. Difficult to find even one that would make me jump. I sure am extremely picky but have never seen such low quality at delray. On one night I waited as long as 3 hours before spotting a good one. Only two girls said no to my offer of $50+$10 (propina).
Massage Parlours.
Visited 360/ Relax / Idem / New Fantasy and Monica's. Monica's is being managed by an American, Robert. Very nice guy. Similar to Relax. Had a VERY beautiful girl the first day I visited but talent was not so good each time I went afterwards. Quality and even quantity changed dramatically day to day basis, one day relax was hopeless, next time it had 2 do-able girls, one of whom was very pretty, talented and almost GFE. 360 was a big let down, girls like Ashley and Priscilla are no longer there. Still no a / see in most MPs, big mood killer. Showers are not a priority for girls so overall MPs are no match for relaxed fucking in the hotel with a Del Ray chica. Girls in all MPs try to upsell once you reach room and one in NF told me $10 for kissing and $20 for sucking tits. Yeah right. SL was pretty much dead everyday except on Thursday. Went once to Zona 2 around noon, had only 3 girls. Nothing fancied me.
Overall the decline in CR continues although some nice looking amateurs can still be found but one has to be prepared to wait for hours.

I was recently in CR for work. It was a pretty last minute trip (I'd been given a 1 1/2 week notice) so I hadn't researched as much as I'd had done if it was farther out. Given it was a work trip I wasn't in any of the "fun" hotels and my hotel was a bit off the beaten path although it was a very nice, newer hotel, located in an area catering more to those visiting with family or on business.
6/15 - my first night in town I hit up Pantera Rosa. I really like how the strip clubs here work being a bit of a strip club guy back in the states mainly because it gives you a chance to window shop potential girls for VIP action. Of course here in CR unlike in the USA you know the girls are down for action which isn't guaranteed back in the states. I ended up going for this black Nicaraguan chick the lone one who seems to speak English in the place LOL. I don't recall exactly what I paid, but I do remember it being way too much. Compared to what I'd pay in subsequent clubs during my stay. The Nicaraguan chick was cool though and we had a great time in my little private session with her.
6/16- got back to the hotel after work, went to dinner, then was going to lay on the bed to watch tv for a little bit before going out. But I ended up falling asleep and didn't wake up until 2 am in the morning. I was pissed having squandered a night I should have been out having fun.
6/17- hit up LaGrillion. Again I kept to my typical strip club demeanor of sampling quite a few dancers. Given how cheap it is compared to the states I didn't mind especially since the girl generally hung around for a few 4-5 songs which I got to feel them up the entire time for about the cost of 1 dance in the states. I actually liked the selection here better than Pantera Rosa. I ended up going with not the best looking chick in the place for my private session which was only like 17 K colons (I couldn't believe it myself), but something about her made me want to have her LOL. This was the chick Maria / Marianna or something of that nature. She definitely took care of me in the private room which was rather small, but it served it's purpose. Given her lack of English and my lack of Spanish there wasn't any talking between us.
6/18- decided to go to Alcasar which some guys on here said was a cool place. I will say I ended up liking this nightclub the most of all of those I visited this trip. The selection of girls was the best here in my eyes. I did run a tab, but they left the tab on the table so I could see what they had me down for. I was going to pay with cash anyways so no chance for any snafu. Anyways I got dances from a few chicks. The highlight of the night though was this little very light-skinned Nicaraguan chick. She had some mad sex appeal about her. She of course seem to latch on to me quick when she saw I was the guy spending the most in the club LOL. Even when she left to go on-stage and hadn't finished her drink once she was done she came back to finish it. Her English was pretty non-existent so no real talking between us. I know some light Spanish but definitely cannot carry on any sort of conversation. She did eventually bring up doing a private session saying sexio or something of that nature pointing at me then her goodies. I took her up on it which cost me 27 K colons I believe. The private area in this club is nice it's a full room, mirror on the ceiling, and with a full bathroom / shower. The action with this chick was absolutely excellent and the sex appeal she had on the floor carried over into our session. After I finished up she took a quick shower and then came back to the bed and cuddled up next to me as I basically felt and groped her for the remaining time LOL.
6/19 - this was my last night in town. I was going to do another nightclub, but at the last minute I decided what the hell I'll stop by HDR to see what all the hoopla is about. Holy shit! Can you say little kid in a toy or candy store. I knew I was in for a treat when just rolling up in the taxi I saw all sort of hot chicks coming and going. Needless to say once I walked inside I was even more blown away. This is the kind of thing you see in the movies or pornos LOL. It's like a little slice of heaven on earth for a guy LOL. I hate I didn't visit sooner in the week. Upon me grabbing a beer and a seat I was approached by two girls asking if I wanted a threesome. One of the girls was definitely one I was feeling and she spoke broken decent English, but not so much the other. I kept talking to the one and the other eventually disappeared. I wasn't planning to do anything here, but after spending a good 20+ minutes talking with this chick and looking at those ooh so lovely dick sucking lips I relented and got a room at the HRD since my hotel was a bit away. Up to the room we good and the session was great. I'm usually not one to kiss working girls, but somehow it ended up that way as I was caught up in the moment with a hot chick. This trip was pretty nice. If I'm lucky enough to go back on another work trip even if I'm staying at another hotel I'll probably just book some nights at HDR and go straight there after work. I must say I'm now hooked. Work or not I'll have to make another trip.

How late at night did you go to Alcasar, and did you feel safe?I pretty much arrived in the 1230-1 am time frame for all of the clubs I visited and stayed at most until 330-4 am.

Simply take a taxi to and from, and you have absolutely nothing to worry about safety-wise. I was really impressed with the male waiters, in that they were both helpful and not too pushy. Expect the ladies to come to your table, but you can easily send them away by politely telling them you'd like more time to peruse the "menu. " The main dancing area and restrooms are very clean and well-maintained, and, as Tiger Guy X described, the rooms are quite nice as well.
There is a 6,000 colones entry fee, but this gets you two cervezas or three shots of tequila. A thirty-minute session with any dancer you take a liking to costs 30,000 colones. Be sure to tip the waiters a 1,000 colones or so for each drink they bring to your table, and they will be more than happy to offer their recommendations and help secure the lady of your choice by bringing her over to your table. I gave Gustavo, a particularly friendly and knowledgeable waiter, an extra 2,000 colones for doing this. Don't waste your money buying the lady a 6,000 bebida that won't contain a drop of alcohol. I believe they will also spend 10 minutes or so at your table for 6,000 colones and allow you to talk with them and grope them a little bit, but I simply chose to save my colones for the trip to the room, which makes them the most money anyway, and they were happy to oblige. I sessioned with a very hot Nica flaca named Victoria and a cute tica named Karina. Both were excellent. Don't expect a BBBJ, but you might be able to get them to do this with the offer of a propina. I didn't care about this, although I'm normally a huge fan!
The ladies work an 8:30 pm to 4:30 am shift. I'd go any time between 10 and 2. The two times I was there, I believe I was the only gringo in the place, but I felt very welcomed. I was also somewhat surprised to see how often the ticos took the ladies up to the rooms. A lady you like could easily get taken away in a heartbeat.

Why would you want to CR to go strip club anyway. Never heard of cases they would hold you at gunpoint until you pay whatever were charge on your tap even through you didn't ordered. Don't be stupid people and stay away from strip clubs in CR unless you are actually stupid and newbie willing to pay a lot of money of getting the same result if were going to del Rey or Sportman.

For some reason, the pensions and hotels seem to get the lion's share of attention. I wonder why the strip clubs aren't more widely reviewed.
Your report and Tiger's make me think there are alternatives out there I haven't considered.

I am far from an expert on San Jose strip clubs, by the way. The only other times I have even sessioned at a San Jose strip club was back when Club Kamur was around, 7 or 8 years ago, when I really was a newbie. They had some really hot dancers, including the famous CRT tica of the month Roxanna, whom I still have fond memories of. What ruined my enthusiasm for the place was that they began charging $13 or so for "premium" ladies drinks without telling you up front, when the price had normally been $8. The main rule to remember is: Never run a tab! Pay for the drinks one round at a time as soon as they arrive. The story you heard re messing with the bill at gunpoint is true, I believe, but I can't remember the club in question and it is hardly the norm. Padding the bill might be much more common for those who run a tab, I just don't know for sure. What I like about Alcazar is that they give you two beer tokens (or three for tequila shots) right when you arrive at the door that you have already paid for, as part of the cover. No bill comes with these drinks, and I don't normally desire more than two drinks anyway. I broke this rule my last night in town when I sessioned twice at Alcazar, with Rachel and Arianna. The additional beers (& bottled water) were 2,500 colones each. As a rule, I don't spring for the ladies drinks or table encounters. It's either la habitacion o nada!

The more English they speak, the worse service they give. Relatively more English speaking chicas hang out at both Del Rey and Sportsman's than in almost any other place. There are a lot of choices for you in San Jose if you want to step away from the usual spots for gringos. Bring a pair of broken in sneakers with a lot of tread left and do some walking. For me that's half the fun.

Hi guys. I get my first opportunity to come to San Jose, on business, July 31 and Aug 1. I arrive late in the day, and am a bit hesitant about venturing out at night. I'm not sure if my coworker is a monger too. I'll be staying at the Intercontinental, I guess it's by something called the multiplaza. Gringo Gulch probably comprises from about Calle 3 to Calle 11 and Avenida 1 to Avenida 13 but it's really more of a mental concept than a defined area. Mónica's is a pretty healthy walk from Hotel Del Rey, maybe about 20 blocks. Taxis are all metered and you can't spend much more than $5-$10 for a ride within the city. You can also take a bus for about 60 cents. That is what I do.
You will probably want to consider this, because that hotel is not even in the city of San José; it is in Escazú. Do note that there are numerous hotels around the Del Rey that DO rent short term rooms, if you want to go that route.
I did a quick 3 day trip to San Jose.
Arrived around noon and hotel was Morazan. Girlfriendly. Room Basic. Got it for $50 a night. I like this hotel because of location. Half a block to Del Ray.

Plus it is even connected to the Del Rey which everyone recommends but if you want to get the best value for your money learn to speak espanol. HD2.As for taxis they are cheap. You have to act like you're not a newbie. Look for the Maria which is the meter. If you don't see it ask. Where is the Maria. That will put you on the straight and narrow. Then know your exchange rate and pay cabs in colones. You don't have to tip but I usually do. I mean wtf. I'm an american gringo and they dig it. For me it's cool to be polite. I'm not a cheapskate when I'm down there. But rest assured you are still a gringo. The older cab drivers are straight with you. The younger cab drivers like to give you a tour of the city. Get a map from this site and know where you are going before you go there. In fact, it is closer to things like supermarkets and restaurants. And of course, you NEVER start a tab at a bar, especially one like that. Just pay for each set of drinks at a time, and all is good.
And believed me, there are other bars where the bartenders will clearly try to rip you off. I remember visiting Blackbeards once, and I gave the bartender the equivalent of a $20 bill, but she gave me change as if I only gave her a $10. She handed it to me quickly, in a bundle. I unfolded it, I gave her this look and told her that I gave her a 20. She didn't apologize or try to pretend that she made a mistake. Without hesitation, she just gave me this snicker, then the correct change. The bartenders at HDR are hot, and give quick service. I tipped them pretty generously. IF you want good service from a bartender, then pick ONE bartender that you want to deal with for the evening. On your first purchase, give a generous tip. They'll remember you. On subsequent orders, you can scale back the tips, as long as they are reasonable.
Unless there is some higher end private escort service somewhere, the HDR girls are definitely pretty enough. I went to many of the so called "other venues" and they were either all closed or so run down and crappy that they were not even worth talking about. I talked to many expats at the bars, and what got repeated over and over again was to be wary of false hype by people getting paid to do so.
The only thing I would grant you is that the HDR hotel is noisy. Unless you are on the top two floors, you will definitely not be able to sleep. The literally next door Sleep Inn is probably a better choice.

Great place to meet woman and meet other mongers. Actually, funny to see the geriatric crowd hustle and get hustled. The down side is the cookie cutter set the majority of women do. I've been to Sosua a few times now, so I know I'll be able to hit the ground running there--that said, I've never been to Costa Rica, I'd be able to get the quality view of the ocean I like to space out to, and OLD's services seem to pay for themselves pretty quickly. Ultimately, is it worth going to CR for the first time with such a small number of days? My budget for both is the same: 80-150/ nt for accommodations, and 300-350/ day to eat, drink, and make merry. I'm fine with either place lady wise, but I prefer a dynamite set of natural tits to a juicy ass most days, though not by much. Also, are the Jr. Suites generally nicer at Cocal vs. Croc's? Thanks in advance; just RTFFing up until now helped me confirm that it'd be doable, and now I just have to figure out if I want to forgo Sosua, which I've visited twice this year.

About 2 months ago they started a bunch of new direct routes to Costa Rica from the USA. These are cheap, AND non-stop. Check Southwest website directly, as their prices don't appear on Kayak.

Avoid the other side, too close to the street, and avoid the corners for the same reason. Book online and save maybe $10, especially if you fit into one of the chain's discounts. I really like that place and I think I've stayed everywhere in SJ at least once, near the epicenter and far. Obviously not a good play if you are going to be hitting it more then once a day unless $$ is not an issue.
I remember once I forgot my computer power supply, called them from Quepos, yep, had it in the office in a box with my name on it.

The upper floors of the HDR (the only ones you want to have) sell out.
For a short trip of only four days, I would consider SXM. Personally, I always got an unsatisfied feeling when I trot into and out of a country without seeing the good stuff. Although your trip works from a party perspective, you aren't seeing any of the good tourists stuff. I would consider saving CR for another trip when you have at least a week.
SXM for four days is perfect. A medium sized Carribean island with decent beaches and diving and excellent restaurants on the French side. It's closer, with a surprising number of nonstop flights. These are more expensive than CR, but less than PP.
And check the ISG page for SXM. Its one of the few forums where you never hear guys complain. That says something.

I was in San José a couple of weeks ago and due to the lameness of my coworkers I didn't make it downtown. Their idea of a whoo hoo time was to go to Hooters. Nothing bad against them, the girls were pretty and the food was OK, but I wanted more. I'm sorry for no report. So I'm back, and tomorrow I'll cab it to the casino by the DR, then go to Monica's, and then write the report. A very interesting day indeed. The learning curve went way up today. About 1;00 pm I caught a taxi from my hotel in Escazu and had them drop me off at the National Theater. What a crowd all over today. Every one was selling Féliz DIA Mama balloons, lots of street vendors, kind of exciting to see for my first trip downtown. So I strolled to the HDR thinking. I could play some poker then check out the scenery, then walk to Monica's. Well not so fast. The poker room opens at 2 pm and really doesn't get rolling till a bit later, but I did get to talk to the "owner", Texas Dave. A real nice guy, his name comes up again in a bit.
Out in the bar and casino area I met several very lovely ladies. Two come to immediate mind, Ruby "Boobies" and Diana. Ruby is my kind of MILF. I didn't have my paper map any way so I wouldn't have found it on Texas Dave's directions. OK so I go in, and get wanded by security and am shown to the bar. Not too shabby a joint. Clean but a bit run down as has been reported. I'm approached by a nice tall tica, who I don't remember her name, but pretty cute and she asks me for 65. I thought 65000 c, holy crap!! I got back just a little over a week ago from my first trip to CR. I landed in San Jose, CR on a Tuesday afternoon. I got a ride into SJ from Sid at One Lucky Dogg. I had asked Sid to take me to exchange dollars for colons and to pick up some drinks and snacks. So he took me to Walmart nearby the airport. I was dropped off at the Freebird hotel. I had a great experience staying there. In the early evening, I walked to Monica's. There were 6 chicas there when I arrived. I made small talk with a few guys that were there to give me a chance to scope it out. I liked one named Michel who was young, light chocolate skin, good looking and great body. She didn't speak English but didn't matter much. It was 40 for the hour. The room was nice and clean. One thing that threw me off a little was that we were in a room on the ground floor that was next to the lobby. So I could hear the doorbell, people talking at times and all the fun going on in the next room. A pretty nice experience and I would visit again.
I had met two other guys staying at the Freebird. The next day I went with one of them to Relax in the afternoon. It was a short walk there from our hotel. My friends went home but I had 2 more nights left so back to SJ to stay at the Sportsmen for a Friday and Saturday night. I just like the vibe there. For me it is laid back how I usually like it. Out of the handful of evenings I hung out at Sportsmen I did pull some chicas from there.
A trip note on taxis. I was warned that in SJ sometimes I'll get drivers that don't know where they're going and they're usually not doing it on purpose. At times, I had to give them nearby landmarks such as well known buildings, Del Rey, Casa Amarilla to get to Sportsmen, restaurant (La Esquina de Buenos Aires) to my hotel when street names were not enough. That was my experience. All the taxis I encountered dealt in Colons. The drivers had different amounts they charged but all not too far off from each other. A few used the meter (maria) but more of them did not.
Speaking some Spanish definitely helped me clarify some things such as destinations for taxis, getting food / snacks from local shops and when I picked up a local sim card for my phone. I just knew enough words to get by but knowing more would of made things smoother in my case.
The weather was nice in SJ even with some rain. At Relax and Monica's, you can pay in US dollars or Colons. The girls I had from both would do BBBJ but for extra. Better to clarify that up front with anyone. All the other chicas I pulled preferred Colons even if they were negotiating in dollars.
Some advice when walking around SJ. Just pay attention to cars and buses as you walk along. There are very few crosswalks or lights for pedestrians outside of the walking streets. You'll see.

I always write down the shield number of the cab. I'd pay whatever I felt like if that happened, and tell him if he did not like it he can call the cops. He won't because he will lose his medallion. In the second case, talk to Jimmy and tell him the chica pulled this shit without telling you up front. Jimmy doesn't put up with too much from his chicas. You should not have given her anything. Bad behavior should not be rewarded.

This is my first trip in CR. This time also mark my first year as a monger. I started in DR last year in August 2014, then followed with Medellin in October 2014, Cartagena, Barranquilla, and Santa Marta in December 2014, Medellin and Barranquilla again in May 2015 and now CR in August 2015. I got Jet blue and this airline rocks with great service, laptop computers to use at JFK, spacious plane, wifi on plane, and free movies / entertainment and lots of free chips, cookies and soda / water. On Spirit airline they give you shit and those planes are tiny.
Day 1 Tuesday Arrival in San Jose, the fun begins.
ATM / Exchange.
I arrived at 11 am in San Jose. I found an ATM of Nova Scotia bank. With my Capital one card https://home.capitalone360.com/ Igot 100000 colones or 200 USD at a 526 colones per dollar including 1500 colones ATM fee or 3 USD. I did not get charge any fees from Capital one, same no fees as in the DR and Colombia.
I travel light so I went outside the airport with my small backpack for a walk to see if there were public buses heading to San Jose. I found just a block away from the airport the San Jose / Alajuela bus stop. This bus takes you straight to the city center for 800 colones or just 40 cents. I was glad I ditched the expensive airport taxi as I often do whenever I travel. The ride took about 45 minutes in a big bus full of local people. On the bus, I chatted with a friendly local next to me who oriented me as we travelled. Once in the city center, I started to look for a place to stay. I decided to go for a walk near the center of the action or where de Del Rey Hotel http://www.delreyhotel.com/ and the Morazan hotel http://www.hotelcostaricamorazan.com/ and Morazan park were all located. First I found the Morazan Hotel on 1st Avenue and 7th Street. I could smell the mold just I as I walked to the reception area. The location seem very seedy and I did not like the area at all. A lot of strange individuals outside and it was just 1 pm. I decided to walk out after the mold smell at the lobby and seeing too many strange characters and bums outside in such a seedy area that it was a turn off to me. Next I went to the DelRey on Avenida 1 between calle 9 why 11 to see if it was worth staying there for one night. It was located just a block away from El Morazan so this area was not different. There were two girls sitting outside at the entrance steps of DelRey and they smiled at me. A gringo was sitting with them. I walked in and there was a security guard at the entrance who checked me out. I looked at the bar and saw some older guys drinking and some some good looking girls in there but not many were walking inside. One girl approached me and started chatting with me, but I did not pay her much attention as I did not like her and she left. I decided to walk out and did not buy any drinks. It was too early anyway to start drinking and I also needed to find a place to stay. I noticed the Key Largo Bar as I walked away from DelRey http://www.sanjosecostarica.com/nightlife/key-largo-bar/ I did not like this area at all so I decided to get the hell out. I also walked to the sportsmen lounge just out of curiosity https://www.sportsmenscr.com/ on Calle 13 and Avenue 9 A. I did go in and I did not like the area and seemed to be not that safe at night time.
I decided to continue walking towards another neighborhood and check out a hostel http://www.costaricabackpackers.com/ in a barrio called La California at ave 6 between calle 21 why 25 A. This area was awesome, clean, better class, and super safe, a police station a block away and the city court house in that are. As I walk in I found that the hostel had a pool, a bar and a restaurant and lots of white French cuties. It was a party hostel with lots of young travelers. The vibe in the place was great so I decided to book it, got a share room with other travelers for just 7000 colones or 14 USD per night, and made this my base. I met a black guy from Texas in his late forties and he said he has been hooking up with young white french girls hostelers. He said he was not mongering in CR, but mentioned that he did monger in Medellin and had stayed at the Mansion. He said he was doing find with the french girls at the hostel who happen to like black guys. Since I did not come to hook up with young hostelers I decided to get down to the mongering business. I noticed a short time motel two blocks from the hostel called Hotel La California at calle 19 between avenue 2 and 4 phone 2256-0972.
Locating pensiones.
To find places, I used WT69 listings, a mongering map I found at http://www.adultcostarica.net/ and checking the listings from http://costarica.adultsearch.com/san-jose/brothel and http://costarica.adultsearch.com/san-jose/erotic-massage-parlor. My method of find finding places was simple mainly walking on my own and finding the neighborhoods and avenues and streets on my own extensive walking. I had to get use to the streets and avenues on San Jose which often make no sense whatsoever as they go up and down and in some neighborhood, they change from up and down. Most people in San Jose don't use this method of looking for addresses. They use things like 200 meters from the park or 300 meters from the church, etc. I found many places but some of the places were not there from both the WT69 listing and the mongering map, some have different names. I also found new places. I will list all here with the hope that some of the information get updated.
First 2 pensiones.
4:00 pm Checking New Fantasy on Avenue 9 and Calle 7, Barrio Amon.
This a high end type of pension located in a seedy area but during the day is okay to walk. It has a bar with nice music, a steam room, and sauna for those that pay the hour. There is a security outside. There were about 8 girls as I walked in. They were all sitting on sofas. Most of them stayed sitting and playing with their phones. I could not take a good look at them since most stay sitting. There was a pregnant girl who was the most friendly and gave me a tour of the place and told me the prices. I could not believe it when she told me she was on the menu because she look she was about to pop or give birth. Since I am not into pregnant women I decided to pass on her. She was also talking to me in dollars and I told her to speak to me in Colones because I was getting confused and did not like it. I drank a beer at the bar. I did not buy her any drinks. How could I if she is fucking pregnant. Most of the girls at the place remained sitting while I was drinking my beer. I was hoping they would get up so I could see them well. Finally, a nice looking spinner got up and I like her face and body features, but she was not that friendly with me. I called her anyway and she quickly agreed to go in with me to one of their rooms. The room did not have a bathrooms but a bathroom / showers were outside. The girl kept a serious face all the time while in the room which turned me off and then said that it was $40 USD or 20000 colones for haft an hour. The talk in dollars made me mad since we are in Costa Rica. I said to her no way and told her that the pregnant girl told me it was less money. I told her never mind, that I no longer wanted her service and apologize to her for asking her to go with me. I decided to walk out of the place. I think the girls in New Fantasy are spoiled by gringos who have been paying too much. The quality that date was not that good at New Fantasy anyway. In my mind, I was thinking that I should have taken the pregnant girl just for the experience.
5 pm PENSION MUSAS at Avenue 7 between Calle 3 why 3 A, Barrio Amon.
This place is unmarked with glass windows covered with curtains. Its a seedy area but during the day and night is fine to walk. There is an electronic sign at a window that read "Abierto" which means opened. The placed is next door to a party hostel called Pangea http://www.hostelpangea.com/ I rang a bell and a white girl with died red / violet color hair opened the door. There were 3 girls in the place and they looked at me and I looked at them. I felt a bit awkward as no one spoke and I am not use to this method of picking girls. No girls parading or doing an individual presentation like in Colombia. The girls just stood there in front of me and didn't say a word. Then I asked the girl with red hair if this was a pension and she said yes. She then smiled at me and said it was 12000 colones 24 USD for haft and 18000 or 36 USD colones for the hour. I loved that at last someone talked to me in Colones and not USD. She was on the menu and I took her. She had a banging body, nice ass and tits and a cute face. In the room she said 5000 colones or 10 USD if I wanted BBJ not charge for covered BJ. I took the hour service and extra BBJ service. The girl was affectionate all the way, gave me a nice massage and lots of kissing. I got a nice release. We exchanged WhatsApp. I left super happy and went back to the hostel to swim a little a the pool and chill at the bar and hang out with the young travelers and the black guy I met there who was having a blast with the white young French girls at the hostel.
Day 2 Wednesday Checking out pensiones in barrio Soledad or el barrio Chino.

This pension is located in a street called el paseo de LOS estudiantes and is at the heart of a barrio Chino also known as SOLEDAD. I stumbled into this placed as I walked. It has no markings just another electronic "Abierto" sign. I walked in and there were two girls not that good looking for me and this from me a guy who is not that picky. I quickly walked out after they told me it was 12000 colones haft 24 USD and 18000 or 36 USD the hour. They were fat, older and ugly.
4 pm THE CLUB Panthera Ros (the pink panther) -http://clubpanterarosacr.com/.
Calle 9 (End of El Paseo de LOS Estudiantes) between Avenida 14 why 16.
I was looking for the club Panthera Rosa through El Paseo de LOS estudiantew. I found the Pantera Rosa next to a gas station at the end of the El paseo de estudiantes, but the place was closed as it opens after 10 pm and it was only 4 pm. Too early to be at the pink panter.
5 pm PENSION EROTICA #3 at Calle 9 A and Avenida 14, Barrio Soleda-Another new place.
After passing the Club Pantera Rosa I stumbled into Pension Erotica #3 and as soon as I saw another house with no markings and an electronic "Abierto" sign, I knew this was another pension or Casa. I don't think this place is listed on WT69 or the mongering map. I rang the bell and a young girl opened the door. She then told me it was 12000 colones for haft and 18000 for the hour. There were four girls looking at me and me looking at them. I am not longer feeling awkward at this method of picking girls. I saw a nice and liked a nice looking spinner from Nicaragua and I picked her for haft hour. I had a really good session, a BJ, and did her in several positions until I got my release. 1) Pension Mary's 1321 avenue 8- I could not find this place, there is no 1321 on avenue 8.
2) Arte y sauna on avenue 2 and calle 9, I could not find this place.
3) Sala Criss on calle 13 between avenue 10 and 12- could not find this place.
4) Mansion entre avenida 14 between calle 9 - 11-could not find this-the only place near this is pension erotica #3.
5) Fama- calle 13 between avenida 10 - 12-no such place. But there is a pension here called casa de Belleza in that block.
6) Sala Sybony calle 8 between avenida 14 and 16- there is no calle 8 or even number calles / streets in this area.
7) Pension Eros calle 11 between avenida 8 - 10 I could not find Eros. The only place at that same location is pension relax and across from relax is idem.
I found these pensions in barrio Soledad / Chino:
12 pm.
1) Casa de Belleza at calle 13 between avenida 10 and 12. It is located on a corner. It a big yellow house with no markings, but also has an "abierto" electronic sign. I think this place also has a beauty parlor inside. There were 3 girls in there. They were older or in their 30's and only one seemed to be in good shape. I picked the skinnier. She was from Nicaragua, dark hair and skin. She was really good, provided BJ, very affectionate, and knew how to tighten her pussy and control the dick that way stretching it with her pussy whenever she wanted. The service was 12000 colones or 24 usd. The room was clean. The bathroom was outside. I got a good release and left happy.

They were friendly and most were smiling at me. I picked a white tica from Costa Rica. Same rate as the other pensions 12000 colones for haft hour and 18000 colones for the hour. She was not affectionate. I did not get a release this time. I banged her for 20 minutes in different positions but I was just sweating and I was out of leche. Any tips on how to increase leche production? I left disappointed not getting a release and felt I should have rested a day to get some leche for the next day.

I was walking looking for more pensions when I got into park and saw a large group of school teenagers in school uniforms surrounding two kids that were fully engaged in a fistfight. I decided to watch from the distance. One kid was getting beat up by the bigger one. I decided to walk away and to my luck just two blocks away, there were three cops on bicycles and the three were playing with their phones unaware of the fight nearby. I told then about the current fight in the park. They reacted quickly. They only asked me if they were students and I said yes. They quickly left on their bicycles to the park while one was using the radio calling for backup. I decided to follow them to watch how they operate. As soon as I got there there were like 15 police all in bicycles and a police car parked outside the park. I was impressed of how quick the response and support. The cops surrounded all the kids that were there and began somehow to interrogate them in the circle that they made. They started to let go the innocent kids that were just watching the fight or were not involved in the fight one by one and finally kept the main participants. I did not wait to see if they arrested the two kids that were fighting but my guess was that they were going to do it.
4 pm BAR Pension 69 https://pension69cr.wordpress.com/ On Avenida 10 (San Martin) entre calle 13 why 11 across from Ferreteria Jimenez. I think this place is not listed anywhere or is probably another new place in Barrio Soledad or El Barrio Chino.
This place opens daily from 10 am to 12 pm phone 2222-0255/8367-0976. This is very nice place with a bar if you want to drink before picking a girl. They also had a nice selection of girls when I went. There were five girls and 2-3 doable. I picked a Tica with a big round ass just as I like. She provided a good session. Nothing memorable, a quick BJ, she was good to finish her doggy style. 13000 colones or 26 USD for haft and 18000 or 36 USD for the hour. I like that the rooms have bathrooms and the place inside and bar is very cozy and clean. This place is a great place, better setting than Pension Musas, Relax and Casa de Belleza.
At night time I went out of curiosity to check Del Rey. There were lots of beautiful girls in there on Friday late at night. I just realize the girls at Del Rey are the same girls you get at the pensions for 12000 colones or 24 USD and at Del Rey they are asking for 50000 colones 100 USD or more. They just come dressed nicely for the night and because of the big competition. In the pensions they are not dressed as nicely and have less make up or none. I prefer the cheaper option. I drank a beer at DelRey while some girls kept checking me out and some were aggressive approaching me trying to get some business with me. The guys wereclearly out number by the girls. Many older guys and gringos here. I left after the first beer. As I was walking alone at 1 am and just a block from DelRey, three young questionable characters or bandidos / delinquents were looking at me. I passed them quickly. Two of the guys seemed to want to follow me, but I accelerated my pace and quickly lost them. I am a runner and always walk with running sneakers just in case. In that same area, I noticed another delinquent very busy and focused on taking the rims of a car. I met an emaciated junkie girl asking me for a coin and I gave her a couple of coins. It is interesting what you see late at night in that seedy area. Despite of what I saw, I did not find it as intimidating like El Centro Medellin late at night. I could have taken a taxi, but I don't like to take taxis and prefer walking anytime of the day. I got to Costa Rica backpacker hostel in barrio La California very quickly walking super fast. The delinquents don't come to Barrio La California that much, there is a police station and the Police is often patrolling all the time in pairs. I am glad I did not stay in the Del Rey area / Morazan / Barrio Amon area.
DAY 5 Saturday Mother's day a quick trip to Jaco, and another pension in San Jose.
Because I wanted to go to JACO in the afternoon, I was looking for a pension in the morning that would open early:
1) 10 AM PENSION JETSET 70 E Avenida 7 and near Calle 1 on Located in a seedy area of barrio Amon.
I entered the place and there were two ugly girls that greeted me. I quickly walked out thinking hell no.
2) 1015 am PENSION KRYSSYS on Avenue 7, between Calle 2 and Central-Another seedy location of Barrio Amon. I went in and amadam at the door told me that the girls have not arrive as of yet.
3) 1030 AM PENSION MALIBU on Calle 3 between Avenida 7 and 9. Another seedy area. The Amistad bar is on corner of Calle 3 and Ave 7. This pension is just a few houses down the Amistad bar. A lady in her forties and bad shape answered the door and told me she was the only one available for 12000 haft or 24 USD and 18000 or 36 USD for the hour. I said to myself no way Jose so I left quickly.
4) 11 AM I ended up going back to PENSION MUSAS Avenue 7 between Calle 3 why 3 A, Barrio Amon and found the red hair girl I got on my first day. I had a quick 30 min session with her for 12000 colones. The place had three doable girls. I was in a hurry because the bus to Jaco was leaving at 1145 pm so was the one rushing the session.
After the session, I had to take a taxi to the new transportation terminal (7-10) located on Avenue 7 and was able to get the busto Jaco. The bus was 2,475 colones or less than 5 dollars. I was in Jaco in about 2 1/2 hours. I stayed at the http://hostelbuddhahouse.com/Budha atPastor Diaz main Avenue, facing El Bohio Street. This place is located in the center of the city, a block away from the beach and to the El cocal http://www.hotelcocalandcasino.com/. The hostel beds are clean and is super cheap 9000 colones or 18 USD for shared dormitories. This place has a bar, restaurant and a pool, and cool travelers, many surfers. This place is really good. One person told me also that you could bring a girl here if you book a private room. I booked a shared room as I was on cheap mode and also did not have any leche left for the girls. At night time, I befriended a brazilian guy traveler and I told him about the Cocal Hotel being a mongering ground and if he wanted to check it out with me. We then went out and the place was jamming with great music and lots of girls. The best area in the Cocal is where they have a bar and something that looks like two pools and were the DJ plays the music. There were more than 30 girls walking around the area, clearly outnumbering the guys. Lots of guys at the bar too. The girls were not that aggressive. Me and the friend drank a couple of beers and just kept looking at the girls enjoying the parade. One Dominican girl approached me and we chat a little bit. She was not that hot as the others so I did not pay her much attention and she left. My new friend was approached by tall black Tica girl and he pretended to be interested and began negotiating with her. She started with 50000 colones or 100 USD for 2 hours. He brought it down to 25000 colones or 50 USD, kept telling her that he was not rich and that she was going to get a Brazilian guy in bed who knew Zamba whatever that meant. But we did not pick any girl and we left after an hour. Then we checked a Club called Orange http://www.visitjacocostarica.com/after-dinner.html and that place was awesome, loud, full of local people and tourists, the music and sexi dancers on stage were just fantastic. The place was packed and people were getting drunk. We met 3 local women in their 30's 40's who wanted to party. After Orange close, the local girls took us to another party place at CROCS http://crocscasinoresort.com/restaurant-bars/bars/ to continue partying till 5 am. Me and the friend almost got drunk. There was no getting laid with the local girls. After partying we exchanged numbers and we all took a taxi ride to our places.
DAY 6 Sunday back to San Jose.
I checked the Jaco Beach in the morning. That beach is made for surfing not really for swimming. The waves are too high to swim. There were a lot surfers in the morning. I had to go back to San Jose to sleep because I wanted to go La Fortuna the next day, Monday. I got to San Jose at 5 pm. I decided to take advantage of the little time I have left so I made a stop at:

Once in La Fortuna, I stayed at http://www.arenalhostelresort.com/ This place is located in the center of town. It has a pool, a restaurant, comfortable beds, clean place and cool people. At night time, I checked out a hot spring located 5 KM from the hostel called http://www.termalitasdelarenal.com/. This place is really good for 4000 colones to spend the day using the termales, it has a bar, a restaurant, and lots of good local people come here. I also found a great local place to eat near the terminal and next to supermarket called http://www.sodalahormiga.com/hormigas cheap and great local food. It was packed with local people eating.
DAY 8 Tuesday back to San Jose.
In the morning I overslept and I missed a group hike to the volcano Arenal and Springs that I found at http://www.redlavatouristservicecenter.com/en/.
After that I decided to take taxi back to the termalitas Spring and spent two hours there, then I went to eat lunch at Soda La Hormiga. After that took a 5 hours bus back to San Jose. I was back in San Jose at 6 pm. I had time for one more Pension visit. I went to the Pension I like best of all I visited which was:
Bar Pension 69 https://pension69cr.wordpress.com/ On Avenida 10 (San Martin) entre calle 13 why 11 across from Ferreteria Jimenez, Barrio Soledad / Chino. I met another nice looking Nicaraguan with extremely dark hair and tanned skin color. She was neither fat nor skinny. She said she was 32. I had a 30 minute session for 12000 colones. I told her I did not have much leche left and she said she was getting it out. I had a really good session and she was able to finish me. I was sweating all over and glad I got a release. We exchanged whatsapp and I tip the Nicaraguan well.
SUMMARY.
This pretty much sums up my trip. The next day early morning, I was flying back to NYC. I was tired, had a lot fun with Ticas and Nicaraguans, and enjoyed the CR culture and way of life. There are tons of Nicaraguan women living in San Jose. In retrospect, I found the Ticas and Nicaraguans to be quite affectionate and to me found them easier GF experiences than with the Colombians and similar GF experience with the DR girls. I also find that the Tico culture is more care free. The CR people don't worry much in general. They are so oblivious of their surrounding that many ticos / as I asked for direction did not even know the name of the neighborhood where they were working as if it is not important to know. The Tica and Nicaraguan women I found them to be less attractive than the Colombians, but their affectionate ways make up for the lesser attractiveness. The Tica and Nicaraguans are also more natural, their bodies, and use less make up or none. I did not see any enhanced girl during my Pension runs. In Colombia, women are obsessed with beauty and enhanced with silicone girls are everywhere. The Ticas also don't seem to care that much about how they look in comparison to the Colombians and as a result their bodies are not in the best shape possible. Medellin in general is cheaper than CR, but not by much. I also found CR to be cheaper than Cartagena, Barranquilla, and the DR. I liked this trip and will definitely repeat visiting. I hope you guys enjoy reading this long report or got some useful information from it.

Reminds me, in parts, of my nube days in SJ when I was young and "smart" and full of cum, 20 before the internet. Hunt the * via boots on the ground, looking for some messed up description of an "address" I got from a friendly, local or one of us, hahahaha. Nothing really localized or well known / patronized by hundreds of gringos like in the "gulch" now. A lot of stuff away from centro. Not sure he knew who the arrestee was if OIJ didn't name him, but it sure looks like the controversial Dave named by Ipenema, at least from behind, and the age is right on. If it is indeed him, he pissed off the wrong person because what he's charged with, there are at least a dozen other gringos doing the exact same thing for decades longer then him, some even own bars and hotels, hahaha, m-m-m-m-m three guesses, the fist two don't count, hahahaha. That or one of the devious "others" operating in SJ planted the seed, and I can think of one guy who fits that bill to a tee. He played the system and had a rival gringo operator deported for expired visa reasons. That victim wrote a lot it and squarely pointed the finger.
Regardless, kind of a shitty pinch but when CR gets lathered up about something, one can be in it for the long haul. What's that ocean environmentalist name, Paul Watson? CR has an Interpol arrest warrant for him after one of his ships jet sprayed heavy duty water on an illegal fishing boat and I think bumped it or something causing minor damage within CR's 20 miles. President Chinchilla wouldn't revoke it, nor will current Prez Solis after many world environmental leaders sought relief from them.
I never met Dave but his reputation is that he can rub people the wrong way--I know he got barred out of a couple of our joints in SJ. Still, WTF--videos on YouTube or Facebook posts talking about the open and notorious trick trade in SJ is fucked, especially when the stuff I saw from him was kind of elementary that would appeal only to guys who'd never been to CR, and stale at that.

My pet peeve about CR used to be that big photo billboard that was the first thing you saw when you exited customs, titled something like "Stop! Shit, in all the years I've lived in CR or visited constantly, a long time, the only gringo I saw get pinched for this shit was a Canadian who was playing the wrong game in Quepos maybe 15 years ago. This is my first trip in CR. This time also mark my first year as a monger. I started in DR last year in August 2014, then followed with Medellin in October 2014, Cartagena, Barranquilla, and Santa Marta in December 2014, Medellin and Barranquilla again in May 2015 and now CR in August 2015. This has been a truly fantastic year! As always my reports are long so I warn you guys to stop reading if you don't like reading and skip it all.
The flight.
I booked my flight through google flights https://www.google.com/flights/ and paid about $480 purchased a month in advance for a round trip from JFK / NYC to San Jose with a stop in Fort Lauderdale. I got Jet blue and this airline rocks with great service, laptop computers to use at JFK, spacious plane, wifi on plane, and free movies / entertainment and lots of free chips, cookies and soda / water. On Spirit airline they give you shit and those planes are tiny.
Day 1 Tuesday Arrival in San Jose, the fun begins.
ATM / Exchange.
I arrived at 11 am in San Jose. I found an ATM of Nova Scotia bank. With my Capital one card https://home.capitalone360.com/ Igot 100000 colones or 200 USD at a 526 colones per dollar including 1500 colones ATM fee or 3 USD. I did not get charge any fees from Capital one, same no fees as in the DR and Colombia.I have to give you props for this report. Undoubtedly, they must have had numerous opportunities to arrest him, but we all know that the CR government loves a big spectacle, so what better way to get some attention that arresting a gringo at the airport. It was for show.

Can someone comment on the girl situation in San Jose (Del Rey) or at Cocal in Jaco? I know it is the rainy season and will be arriving in CR. Next Friday. Not sure if the rain puts a damper on the quantity and quality of girls at either location, any comments are appreciated.

Jeb-Was there a week ago; 6 days San Jose, 4 in Jaco; rained only a few days, usually in the afternoon; Del Ray usually didn't get cooking 'till later in the night, so didn't notice any problems. One bad thunderstorm in Jaco, otherwise was nice{hot}. My first time in Costa Rica {have been to Thailand}, and I found the women off the charts. Very skilled at there profession. Had great luck at Sportsman's Lodge; for instance, one night a stunner came in, student, had forgot rent was due the next day. Pulled from Del Ray a couple times, all good. The girls at Cocal struck me as more hardened professionals, but gorgeous. Never made it to the massage parlors in San Jose, there are bargains to be had. Hope this helps. Gary.

Met a young "keeper" at the Rey that week that I have maintained a great relationship with now 11 years. From Quepos, but in town to see her family. There's that too, a lot of girls coming into SJ that week and of course they have a chance to earn a few extra bucks that they couldn't in their small towns. So if you hit our joints a lot, you will notice different faces that week.
If the purpose of your voyage is hunting, yep, wait a week. In fact the week after is usually red hot, make-up time you know. But, if you have to be in SJ that week, all hope is not lost other then Christmas Eve night.
Easter week too, it is also really really slow from Holy Thursday on. Similar to the Christmas thing though.
Great time to walk around SJ though, if you are so inclined. Ghost town downtown, eerie.

Stayed in Del Rey for 4 nights. Great quiet room. Excellent internet wireless connection. Room was clean, no issues with the hotel. I like staying at ground zero. Stayed there before and I will be back there again. As for the girls I know this was part of the rainy season, but every day it was nice and sunny up until about 2:00 pm and then the clouds and rain move in. Not that many beauties around but I still found 3 that were very nice. One light brown haired girl from Cali, Colombia with a firm big rack. I was a little taken back as she has a routine of inspecting my hardware before the fun begins. I felt like I was in a doctor's office. She is very cautious and a little controlling. Beautiful face and killer body but a little too controlling for my tastes. Definitely great arm candy. Saw her twice just because she looked stunning in a halter top on my last night in town.
2nd girl was a nice local girl with a very impressive body. A little more low key and was into it. Tried to see her again before I left but only got her voicemail. 3rd girl was a skinny local. Very cute face but almost flat chested. Good service and very accommodating. Overall it wasn't a great selection of girls in general. Saw lots of regulars in the lobby and talent was down. I was at Cocal in July and definitely found more beauties there but this time I really didn't want to deal with the daytime heat and Cocal was booked on the Friday and Saturday nights that I wanted.
The reason I had any success in Del Rey was that I am VERY patient. If I had just walked in and looked around for 15 or 20 minutes then I probably would have not seen anything interesting. Since I was staying at the hotel I would sit at the couch in front of the check-in desk and wait patiently. I'll be back in November and will this time probably stay at least one night in Jaco at Cocal and 1 or 2 nights in Del Rey. 19 times I have been to Costa Rica. I have never left there without seeing some really nice girls. If you are in San Jose and get bored I highly recommend the 1 day rafting trip on Rio Pacuare with Rios Tropicales. I can also highly recommend the zip lines at Carpintera just outside of San Jose and the La Paz waterfall tour which was very very nice with exhibits that rival Disneyworld with jaguars, snakes, monkeys, butterflies, and other exhibits.

A rough price range for all night would be $100 to $300. All nighters are not as common as in Thailand. They are much more common than in Australia, where, as you know, a first rate escort off of privategirls.com.au can run in the thousands.

Just curious: what floor was your room on at the DR? Was it an interior room on that floor or did it face the street? I am a huge fan of quiet rooms, and they can be very hard to find in San Jose, which is why I prefer the two third-floor rooms at the Freebird.
+1 re the Rio Pacuare trip. I've done it 3 times over the years.I stayed on the 3rd floor in an interior room. Loved it. Have stayed in the same room on the last 5 trips to San Jose. I really have not one single complaint about staying at Del Rey. It's nice to take the elevated down 2 floors and be at ground central any time of the day. I recommend Chicken Del Rey if you want a good lunch or dinner meal. I'll be back there in November.

Matter-of-fact the air travel from California, depending on season is between $450. To $850. So this is money better spent on pussy.

They are different in many ways but, in my opinion for a $700-$800 not different enough. For the same cost of airfare you could try Panama or Colombia. If you've got a room in the HDR, negotiate them down to the last dollar, and act like someone they don't particularly want to know, then yeah, it's probably going to be mechanical. My experiences have mostly been positive. Contrary to experiences of others, the Colombians I've met at HDR on average were more affectionate and more inclined to go out on real dates than Colombians in Colombia, except for Cartagena. I've had to kick several out of my hotel room because I wanted to go to sleep.
But it's not all peaches and cream. For example, there was an absolutely stunning blonde Venezuelan I went with. She was honestly close to a 10 in the face and the body. She literally had me in and out in 20 minutes. And that included the time to walk to and check in at the Morazon. One night as an experiment I went up to the 4 or 5 hottest women in HDR and asked each how much and if she kissed. All asked for $100. That I expected. But amazingly none of them said she'd kiss me. That was bizarre because I can't ever remember not kissing anyone I pulled from there. Perhaps the lesson is ask and you shall not receive. I have gone back and read many threads in this forum so I feel I know my way around. The one thing I would be interested in knowing would be places that are a notch or two on the higher end of things. From what I have read there is / are HDR and KL, Sportsmans, some strip clubs like Alcazar, etc. I am interested in the cream of the crop in SJO. I don't want to travel to Jaco or stray very far from the central area.
I can deal with the aggressive nature of the chicas if I have to but prefer something a little more subdued.

You may find a 9 (I don't believe in 10s) or 2 in the process, and will see few 5s. Prices are fixed at Z2 and beers will not be $6 or $7 or whatever you said, and only a nose picker would pay more than $100 for an hour with the best looking chica in SL (or anywhere else in town). Quality and price are virtually unrelated throughout Central and South America. In Europe you do find some correlation.
Malibu is not a strip club; it's just that Theo hires bartenders who seem to have some trouble keeping their clothes on throughout an entire shift. Works for me.

And here's how they bar be 4 hs one slab with one Firestone Tire (which are made in SJ as we all know). After 4 hs they throw out the slab and decide the tire is probably more chewable. Forget CR meat unless you have a bite like a shark--it's not corn fed, only pasture. I always say "stick with the fish". Their ceviche and seafood soup is outstanding and I can live on that. And the rest of the fish is also generally super fresh and done just right depending on where and certainly fresher then what you get at home. Coffee is world class--top 3; a lot of fruits and veggies same category, pineapples to die for, so fresh they smell up a room. Next time you go to the grocery in the US or CAN, look at the label on the pinas--almost always CR or Honduras. Avocados you say? Yum they are good except almost all, 95%, are imported into CR. 80% of the imports are from Mexico as per the latest data in the veggie trade barrier / import war. CR doesn't currently do avocados well. Blaming recent year or three climate, disease, bugs, etc. And the Ticos are bitching, rightfully, that they can't afford them at the current price. But you will see incredible produce at those farmer's markets, every town more then 4,000 has one usually on a Sat or Sunday. Let her negotiate and make the buy, stay far away, and you'll come home with twice as much.

Saw Hotel Del Ray and Key Largo casinos. Was very impressed with selection of girls but taken back on the prices. I couldn't imagine spending that much for wg. Especially in Latin America where wgs are a surplus. If girls negotiate they are not a bad deal but most are waiting for their "rich American boyfriend" from USA on holiday or business trip willing to pay since the prices and quality is better than what is usually available in the USA (and legal here unlike USA).
Better walk 2 blocks away. Lots of upstairs "massage parlors" that are good price. Quality is hit and miss but a taxi can be hired cheap to take you around until you find a place to your liking. Good rotation of girls too.
Hotel Presidente is nice and close by. They don't like to allow wgs into hotel but this changes often and sometime a few dollars fixes the issue. Crowne Plaza is more friendly but not a good walking distance (long walk if you are up for it).

I was going to Guanacaste for business about once every 3 months, and have been to San Jose maybe 10 to 12 times. I know you've spent much more time in Costa Rica than I have. And much, MUCH more time in *****houses in Costa Rica. So you're right, I should keep my mouth shut. In fact, probably only you and people who live in Costa Rica should post here. And of course newbies who have questions. You can answer them. Or shun them and tell them to RTFT. Either way you can feel proud of all you know and all the challenges you've overcome in San Jose to get laid. And especially proud of what you know about avocado sourcing and refrigeration of dairy products in CR.

Arrived Saturday to found out the two double rooms I booked the del Rey decides to give us two single rooms smh, Halloween at del Rey is overrated. Too many gringos ratios of girl to guys may of favored the guys smh. And less quality but high prices never again will I do del Rey maybe even San Jose on Halloween weekend except maybe Sunday.
Zona I was nice stayed there Sunday only 4 girls there but I get the idea. Nice rooms great staff met some cool people at the bar also visited the sportsmen lodge to watch the NFL, nice breakfast and set up.
Debating on next trip to SJ to be during high season but idk.

This was my first trip to Costa Rica and I think its one of the best mongering destinations.
This is an old report. Just felt like submitting in this forum.
Date 21st Jan.
Day 1.
I landed at San jose around 1. 30. There was a big queue at the immigration. After half an hour I got the taxi to Amon plaza for twelve bucks. Not bad. I met Nixon at the hotel and he told me, everything is fine and just go ahead and check in. I realized that I should not have got the money converted at the airport. They gave me 414 colons to one dollar. Which was pretty less, they were offering me better rates at the casino.
Around 3 , I headed for ZonaBlue which is like one minute walk from the hotel. Met the lady at the front desk (I think she is Wanda, dunno for sure), she gave me a tour of the entire place. She took me to the lounge where all the girls were. I picked up a Rachel. She was quite good. We went to the room. I had paid her 30 k. She came back and starts undressing. She took a shower. Then we started fooling around. Suddenly she went down and gave me the best BBBJ. I didn't even had to ask for it. She was good at it. We phucked for fifteen minutes. Then she gave me a decent massage for about fifteen minutes. I took a shower and left her a tip of 2 k colons. I was pretty satisfied. Went back to the hotel, dunno what to do. I met nixon. Day 2.
After a good night sleep, The room service woke me up. The gal who works for room service in Amon Plaza is quite hot. I think her name is andrea. Too bad she doesn't speaks english.
I head downstairs, had the complimentary breakfast. It was quite decent. Around 2, I left the hotel to go to oasis. Got a cab rite opposite the hotel. Oasis was kinda shady place. The lady at the door told me to wait twenty minutes. Then she took me to the lounge where there were four five gals waiting. I say around 5-6, I was dissappointed but what the hell, I picked one gal. Day 3.
Sunday.
After a good night sleep, the hot housekeepin maid woke me up. Well I hope today was better than yesterday. Went down for the breakfast and found out it was already over. One thing wierd was that when tiffany went to some guy, I asked lydia, do you know her name and she denied. This was very wierd as they both were talking like they are good friends. Nyways doesn't matter to me, but was just wierd. Then time something funny happened. The table we were sitting was slight wobbly and I end up spilling tifffany's drink and my beer. Guys sitting next to me started clapping. Nyways I left a good tip for the waitress and the waiter who cleaned up the mess. I left shortly after the two gals went.
Back at the hotel around 7, I went to the bar and asked the waiter to get the menu. Too bad, Amon being a fivestar hotel, the enitre menu was in spanish. I just ordered something and went back to my room.
ARound tenish, I left for kamur. I forgot it was Sunday and the cab driver recommended me to go to lipstick. I know he gets commision and stuff but at that time I had no idea where to go. I was like what the hell, just take me to lipstick.
LIpstick is the biggest ripoff place I have seen in my life. I went inside and the waiter or manager-watever you call him hold me and just took me to a seat. He started saying that three drinks for 6 k. I ddint want to drink so got some water. A stripper came and sat next to me. So I got her a drink too. Nyways the place was not my type and looked quite dead. So I asked the bartender to get my check. The bartender took fifteen minutes to find the waiter who was attending me and bought me a check of 15 K. I was like I just had water and one drink for stripper. And the manager started forcing me to tip him. BY forcing mean he took my 20 K and gave me back 2 K. I was so freaking pissed but I didn't want to create a scene there. I head to delrey, pick up a chicka for 120 K for the whole night. She was pretty decent. I was happy to pick her up.
Nyways the day went good except the whole lipstick thing.

Day 4.
Monday final day at the utopia.
The tica woke me up around 7 as she had to leave. I paid her in full and gave her a thousand colons for the cab. AFter that went back to the room and slept.
Woke up around one, got ready and went to the market place. It was too windy that day but still I wanted to get some souvenir for my friends. I had lunch at this place called Vishnu Vegeteriano. Had some good variety. Came back to my room around 5 and went to bar for couple of drinks. Around 9 I went to J & J ribs, just five minutes walk from AMon Plaza. I went to club Kamur after that. Club kamur is different than normal stripclubs. Firstly the music is not very loud. Its actuallly pleasant. There were around 15 chicas. Though the club was full of ticos- but overall it was good. I got a free entry and a drink- thanks to vip card. I got three dances for ten bucks and it was worth it.
Around 12, I head to Delrey. As usual crowded. But saw a lot of potential ticas. I was playing some roulet for half an HR and then I started talkin to couple of columbian gals. Their name were Carolina and Andrea. We had couple of drinks and they agreed on 100 dollars for both of them for an HR.
We went back to the hotel and I had a nice session with both of them. Men I never knew two gals could be so fun. Dickhead is comfortably ensconced in the Portuguese Algarve at the moment but is well known to be more of a bottom feeder than a high end guy. However, he does recommend Sportsman's Lodge for your purposes, and also Zona II. There will be plenty of fuglies in both places as well. Key Largo is another place you may wish to explore. In fact, go to Z2 until it closes at 8 or 9, then to SL until it closes at midnight, then hit KL. If you don't find what you are looking for by then, at least you will be good and fucking drunk.

Prosecutors claim that the man, Reza Ray Ehsan, brought a 16-year-old girl and two other [CodeWord902] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord902) women to his Santa Ana home where he paid two of them, including the accuser, to have sex with him.
Ehsan works as a family physician in LOS Angeles, California and has a lavish vacation home in the town west of San José that he said he bought for $2 million a few years ago.
Though he is out of preventive prison, a judge ruled that Ehsan cannot leave the country and must sign in with authorities every 15 days. Initial charges of sexual assault and seduction of a minor through electronic devices have been dropped, according to prosecutors.
A spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office said that on Aug. 15, authorities received a complaint from the 16-year-old who claimed that she and her cousin were invited to Ehsan's house by a third [CodeWord902] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord902) girl. There, prosecutors say that Ehsan had intercourse with the accuser's cousin for cash before they both indicated to the accuser that it was her turn to have sex with Ehsan.

Prostitution is legal in Costa Rica, as is consenting sex with anyone 15 years or older, according to Ehsan's lawyer Francis Tejada, but it is illegal to solicit a prostitute who is under 18 years of age.
"This is happening in a country where the oldest profession in the world is legal," Tejada said. "They know that he's worth millions of dollars and they are probably trying to extort him of his wealth.

He added that they were free to leave his home and were never persuaded into having sex with him.
"It was stupid on my part to bring them to my house," he said. "But they say they were forced to stay and that's just not true. ".
Ehsan was held in preventive prison for a night before authorities raided the large, three-story home in the Pozos neighborhood of Santa Ana, where they took his security camera system for evidence.
Tejada told The Tico Times that with this particular charge, prosecutors and judges often allow defendants the option to reimburse the plaintiffs. He added that there have been no talks yet of such a settlement. He also pointed out that investigators have not proven through DNA testing that Ehsan ever had sex with the minors.
"I'm not the kind of person who violates people," Ehsan said. "It's not in my nature. ".
Ehsan said he has two daughters in LOS Angeles, Calif. His wife, Lucia Caridad Lorenzo, who was also a doctor, was murdered at her L. A. Office in 2002 when an employee shot and killed her and two other colleagues. According to his practice's website, Ehsan is the director of the Superior Multi-Specialty West LA Urgent Care and has more than two decades of experience treating children as a family physician.
"It's not fair," he said of the charge. "I have a practice and a family. I have to protect my name. ".
According to immigration records, Ehsan had entered the country 15 different times in the past year. He first came to the country in 2004.
A court date has not yet been set, a spokeswoman from the San José courts said. Ehsan will have to present himself to prosecutor's next week, however, to prove he has not fled the country.".

If Costa Rican law actually allows him to buy off the victim and have charges dropped, he may be lucky this happened in Costa Rica instead of at his home in California. My impression is that the judicial system in Costa Rica is reasonably good, at least by Latin American standards. If there's nothing on his security camera, there's no DNA evidence, and it's just his word against a hooker and her friends, I bet he gets off. Anyway, given her age, it sounds like the police didn't have much of a choice. They have dropped charges of sexual assault and of contacting the acccuser for sex through the internet.

Any person who promotes or establishes programs, campaigns or advertisements through any medium on a national or international level to project the country as an accessible destination for commercial sexual exploitation or prostitution of people of any gender or age shall be punished with imprisonment of four to eight years.
Does that make Cuba Dave's incarceration right? Hell no. By the standards of my country, it's a violation of freedom of speech and freedom of the press. And it's a travesty that he's locked up over a law no one knew anything about. But that doesn't change the fact that anyone who's not running tours , not running a web site, etc., will not be prosecuted under this law.

With all this shit going on about CR I have no interest on planning my visit end of this month in CR. This would have been my first trip to CR just to check out a new playground and get the lay of the land like they say. With all the fun Colombians girls in Medellin who make love with you like a long lost boyfriend, and I may add after spending a few weeks in Cuba back in August with all their restrictions, viva Colombia!

My driver told me Sportsman's required all the ladies on site to have an ID and you can go to the management if you have any problems. If you get robbed the staff knows their info to report it to police. Troublemakers get banned from the premises.
This is my first trip in CR. This time also mark my first year as a monger. I started in DR last year in August 2014, then followed with Medellin in October 2014, Cartagena, Barranquilla, and Santa Marta in December 2014, Medellin and Barranquilla again in May 2015 and now CR in August 2015. This has been a truly fantastic year! As always my reports are long so I warn you guys to stop reading if you don't like reading and skip it all.

This was my forth trip to Costa Rica and my most mellow. I spent a weekend on the Caribbean coast and a couple of days in San Jose at the front and back end of the trip. Costa Rica has changed. I felt like the backpacker and monger crowd had moved on to Southeast Asia, mostly Thailand. That is what everyone told me. Every time I walked into the Del Rey, it was at least 5 to 1 ladies to guys. They all looked older and harder than I remember. I visualized getting drugged and waking up with an ice pack minus a kidney. I hooked up there in 2004 and 2007 and this was a different crowd. My last trip to San Jose in 2013, I found a few "old man dive bars" the best was called Papi's. Papi died recently so the bar was gone. Too bad, that was one of the greatest sleazy bars I had ever had the pleasure of drinking in. The only place still open from my previous trip was Poas. It's in the Gringo Gulch. This is where you can talk to experienced American dudes who have retired to Costa Rica who can give invaluable advise about what is going on. This is also where you can meet semi-pro girls looking to meet their sugar daddy. It's low key, stress free and cheap.
When I got back to San Jose from Puerto Viejo, I had the gal I met at Poas come to the new Hilton Garden Inn, directly across the street from the new national soccer stadium. I took her to see a World Cup qualifying match and we had an epic night. I can't confirm if the Hilton Garden Inn is totally girl friendly since she was conservatively dressed and didn't look like a working girl. I only stayed there one night. The rest of San Jose was spent at the Dunn Inn where I have stayed before. They didn't charge me for having the Poas gal spend the night either. Maybe they even though she was my girlfriend. Personally, I find normal looking woman that are crazy in bed a huge turn on.
Costa Rica may be past its glory days as a monger destination but it's still a beautiful, safe place to enjoy a little are and are.

Does anyone know if the Sleep Inn behind the Del Rey still allows you to bring chicas to your room or have they stopped the practice? On my last trip there, they allowed this for a fee per chica if they weren't registered with you when you booked. I'm primarily going to meet a non-working girl this trip so I can't stay at the Del Rey for appearance purposes, but having it almost next door for mongering during my alone time makes things easier than booking someplace else.

You're right about the location, if you exit the property via the Casino you are about 20 paces from the Del Rey. Let us know how it works out if you stay there. If I return to San Jose I'd like to stay there if it's not a hassle.

Just got back from a 4-day trip to Costa Rica. We stayed 2-nights in Jaco and 2-nights in San Jose. I won't go into a full play by play but give you the general gist and observations.
This was my third mongering trip to CR but my first time going to Jaco. Arranged transportation through One Lucky Dogg and Oscar our driver was great and always on time. Cocal was booked so we stayed at Poseidon which is only two blocks away, no guest fees and we walked most of the time to and from Cocal. After a few trips walking back with the girls however, we started taking a Taxi back as the girls got too many comments on the street. Poseidon was an OK hotel for the price, by Jaco pricing anyway which is more expensive than San Jose. We paid around $110 a night.
The quantity and quality of girls at Cocal was impressive. We were there Thursday and Friday night and I would estimate around 100+ girls to about the same or slightly less number of guys. There were many girls in the 7-8 range with one or two 9's kicking about. Most girls were Tica or Nica with little to no Colombians which was disappointing. We did find 2 that we hooked up with but compared to previous trips, Colombians were non existent.
Jaco was boiling hot and the closed off pool area of Cocal allows no breeze so that did not help matters. Guys and girls sweating their asses off and I found it generally uncomfortable hanging out there be / see of the heat and humidity. Dress light and be prepared to sweat. If you want some relief, you can catch a small breeze by the smoking area by the beach, but it doesn't help much.
Girls were not aggressive compared to experiences I had at Del Rey in previous years. More on that later but generally you have to approach them. As for pricing, many would quote $100-$150 and I had two girls flat out refuse $100 for 1-hour. I was happy to see one of those girls who refused the $100 offer work the room for 3 hours and not get any action, and I hooked up with her friend the following night and she told me her friend had no clients the night before. Caulk one up for our side!

FYI, avoid the "Gentleman's Club" strip club on the main strip in front on Cocal. Total clip joint and we got had for a $500 drink tab. Overall I had 2 sessions on my first night and 3 on day two including a 3 some with the two Colombians, so 6 girls total in Jaco.
We finally get into the city around midday on Saturday and the weather is awesome! Nice cool breeze, sunny, fantastic weather. We stay at Hotel Morazon which is right in front of Del Rey, $70 a night with tax and no chica fees. Previous reports say it's a dump, but I disagree. It's no Ritz but for $70 a night, I found it to be relatively clean and comfortable, nice AC, TV, hot water was good, room safe, street noise was not bad from my room on the 4th floor, and the front desk calls the room whenever the girl leaves to ensure everything is okay, which I thought was a nice touch. Free breakfast was delicious, omelette's, hash browns, and an easy hop out the door of Del Rey. I guess there is a slight "walk of shame" back to the hotel and through the casino where everyone eyeballs the girls, but it doesn't bother me.
We got settled and wanted to hit some massage parlors before getting sucked into the Del Ray vacuum, so we hit New Fantasy where I had a crappy 3-some with two robots, then Zona II where I had a great session with a girl. I liked the atmosphere and the girls there are open and friendly. Dinner at Sportsman and then we hit Idem which was a previous favorite of mine, but only had 2 girls (around 8 pm on Saturday night) which was very disappointing so we left. Relax across the street only had one fuggly girl that was maybe a 3, so we rounded the corner to Pension 69. Very local Tico bar so felt slightly out of place, but they had a decent lineup of around 8 girls, one of which had a gorgeous face and so so body. $26 for sex, and my friend takes a slightly Asian looking girl who gives him BBBJ and Anal for a $10 up charge per service, so less than $50 total! Can't beat that. I take my gorgeous face Tica for a spin but she's a robot, condom blowjob, no extras or emotion, and she doesn't even ask for a tip afterwards. Finally leave and head to Del Rey!
Seeing Del Rey back to back with Cocal, I have to say Cocal was much more impressive although I didn't know it at the time. I had been to Del Rey back in 2006 and then again in 2011, and I can say it has really gone down since then. Quantity and quality was about half what I remembered. I remember walking through the bar for the first time and feeling like a slab of meat. Girls grabbing you and feeling you up, and you had to avoid making eye contact with girls because the second she felt you checking her out, she would be all over you. Same experience when I returned in 2011. Well. Not anymore. Girls mostly sitting around texting on their cell phones, they don't approach you even when making eye contact, and generally aren't aggressive anymore. I don't know if they changed the rules for the girls and told them they are not allowed to approach guys unless asked to (kind of like Veneto in Panama City) but you have to fight for the girls attention, not the other way around. Don't get me wrong, I still had a blast, still had many great sessions with several 7's and 8's and even a 9, but it's not the same atmosphere that I remembered and certainly not the same quantity of girls. Saturday was my crazy day. I hit 4 girls at the Pensions before getting to Del Rey, then 3 that night for a days total of 7. It was 5 am before I crashed.
On Sunday I slept in and head to Del Rey to catch the NFL games in the afternoon. I met some cool guys at the bar and watched the games, grabbed a girl after the Denver / NE game for a quick session and had a lot of fun. Sunday was even slower but I actually felt like the quality of girls improved Sunday night, perhaps because some had gotten back from Cocal? Can't say for sure although I did hook up with one girl on Sunday that I talked to in Cocal Friday night. I took it a bit easy on Sunday as I was still worn out from the night before, only doing 3 sessions for the day. Pricing in Del Rey was the same as previous years, all ask for $100 but you can negotiate. I don't like to beat the girls down too much as I feel it can sometimes ruin the quality of the session, but I generally tell them $80 plus $20 tip for good performance, which makes them feel they have to earn the last $20, and they don't hound you for a propina afterwards, so I found it was a good strategy. I always negotiate for an hour as you can always add more time if your having fun with the girl and want her to stick around for longer, but if you ask for 2-hours or more upfront and get a dud, you are screwed. Sunday I crashed at a reasonable hour around 1 am and got a good nights sleep.
Monday I woke up around 9 am, get packed, have a good breakfast and head to DR to grab a quick girl for my last session before heading to the airport around 11. Overall had 17 girls in 4-1/2 days, beating my previous record by 1.
Hopefully this has been helpful, to each his own, YMMV, treat the girls well and they usually return the favor. I've had a lot of fun in CR over the years but next trip I am setting my sights on Medellin.

We finally get into the city around midday on Saturday and the weather is awesome! Nice cool breeze, sunny, fantastic weather. We stay at Hotel Morazon which is right in front of Del Rey, $70 a night with tax and no chica fees. Previous reports say it's a dump, but I disagree. It's no Ritz but for $70 a night, I found it to be relatively clean and comfortable, nice AC, TV, hot water was good, room safe, street noise was not bad from my room on the 4th floor, and the front desk calls the room whenever the girl leaves to ensure everything is okay, which I thought was a nice touch. Free breakfast was delicious, omelette's, hash browns, and an easy hop out the door of Del Rey. I guess there is a slight "walk of shame" back to the hotel and through the casino where everyone eyeballs the girls, but it doesn't bother me.

Woody.I been to Costa Rica three time over a 5 you period. BBFS is available at any of the massage parlors or at ground zero (del Rey hotel). What I do is let them know upfront before discussing price everything I want then discuss price. In most cases I don't pay more than anyone else does. Just got back from a 4-day trip to Costa Rica. We stayed 2-nights in Jaco and 2-nights in San Jose. I won't go into a full play by play but give you the general gist and observations.

I've been staying at the Hotel Morazan. There are some pluses and minuses:
Pros.
*If you want proximity to Hotel Del Rey at half the price, this is a great price I payed $141 for two nights after VAT (tax). You can literally walk about 400 ft to enter the hotel. And I don't mind it when I'm walking with a 9 even if she is a pro.
*Hot Water, Good WIFI, Clean Room.
*Proximity to everything tourista. Today I made it to 6 museums, the zoo, three restaurants, two bars, and The Green Palace (great place Ill have to write a review upon) all between 10 am and 5 pm today.
* When you bring a girl up, they take her ID. When she leaves they call you to make sure nothing happened.
*The room service is unbelievably cheap. (See cons).
Cons.
*My main problem with this place is with a fat fuck named Ricardo. He wears a white shirt and tie, sits in the lobby, and looks like management. He apparently works within the hotel coordinating tours or something: he is not in any position where anyone staying in the hotel needs to answer to him.
My issue with him is that he demanded I tell my room number in the lobby (a casino). This was at noon. Thanks for the report, reminds me of the old days at the Blue Marlin Bar for sure. *My main problem with this place is with a fat fuck named Ricardo. He wears a white shirt and tie, sits in the lobby, and looks like management. He apparently works within the hotel coordinating tours or something: he is not in any position where anyone staying in the hotel needs to answer to him.
My issue with him is that he demanded I tell my room number in the lobby (a casino). This was at noon. There is no set rate at the Del Rey, it depends on the time of day, the amount of girls, the quality of girls, the amount of guys in the bar. They will all ask for $100 no matter what, here are some guide lines.
1) Day shift, morning till 6:00 pm. Again all will ask for $100.00, but normally you can offer $60.00 - $80.00 and get good results.
2) Night shift, 6:00 pm till closing. All will ask for $100.00 some of the hotties will ask for $150.00 to $200.00 just depends on the circumstances I mentioned above. You do not want to beat them down to low or the service will suck, counter their offer somewhere around $75.00 - $80.00, if you have to go to $90.00. Between $20-$25 dollars.When taking an HDR taxi, they always charge me a fixed fee of $30 from HDR to the airport. Coming to HDR from the airport, I took one of the official orange taxis from the airport to HDR last time, and I remember it coming out to just less than $30, but that was very late in the night, so maybe there is a night time surcharge, or maybe I just got the Gringo surcharge?
I haven't tried One Lucky Dog transport yet (www.OneLuckyDogg.com). He charges only $36 each way but as I understand it, he offers free bottled water, free stop at Walmart, guarantee of comfort in air conditioned vehicle, etc. His price includes an enhanced surcharge rate for transfers in the middle of the night, so it was cheaper for me to just take one of the regular taxis. Plus, I don't need to stop at Walmart since I take care of all of that stuff before my trip, but I can certainly appreciate the difficulty of married guys not being able to procure certain supplies before leaving for their trip.
One time, I arranged an airport transfer through Hotel Amistad. Their fee for having a guy there waiting for me was $35. I won't ever be staying at the Hotel Amistad though (old run-down rooms, extremely loud train just outside the hotel at all hours of the night, etc).
Going forward, I would like to try out One Lucky Dog the next time I am not arriving too late in the night.
I'd like to take advantage of your low $20 airport transfer price, but perhaps I am just too gringo to be offered this price?
