Taormina is my favorite hotel in SJ. I am never charged a chica fee there but I have not been there lately. I have also found their rates to be much cheaper when walking directly to the reception rather then booking online. They seem to cut out the middleman fees plus some more. My last visit, I only paid $60 for a nice fourth floor room. YMMV.Thays great to hear however, I received this email when I asked about a chica fee. I used to stay these years ago:

Hello.

Unnamed (1).That's a news. Unless something changed recently, I have always been able to take a duo upstairs even after registering them at the front desk. They have never said a word about chica fee. May be if you ask in a formal way, they get greedy. As I said before, I got a huge discount when booking in person rather then online. Last time I got the room for $60 flat that I usually pay around $90 from Expedia. I have also stayed at Barcelo and has been able to take the girls without any issue. However Barcelo is a bit far and has a not so friendly vibe for mongering.

Are there places near the gulch to get the required Covid test to return to the US? How long to get results? Has anyone had any problems returning? I understand the test must be done within 72 hours of boarding the returning flight to the US. If I do on Friday and return Sunday, does that mean I can get the test done in the US on Thursday and still return on Sunday (only 48 hours in CR) using those results?

This is such bullshit. Any info and experience since the new rules would be appreciated.

Happy hunting.

Not 72 hours. Get a rapid antigen test, and you'll know if you can return before you leave.

I went to the Taormina last night (Friday night), for the first time, and was truly shocked and amazed.

As my Uber pulled up to the front of the Taormina, I saw at least 15 chicas standing and milling around the front. About half of them were not bad at all. After hurriedly getting out of Uber, I damn near tripped over the curb while trying to scope out chicas.

I washed my hands (like how we have to do at Sportsmens) and walked inside. Got my temperature taken. I saw three chicas sitting on a sofa in the front lobby. One of them I took noticed of because she was my type (spinner, cute face and nice sized bags).

After walking past the casino part and entering the not so big bar area. YOWZERS. There were a SH*TLOAD of chicas in the bar area. My estimate was 25+ chicas with less than half the amount of dudes present. A few of the chicas were my type too. But one, closer to the bar, had an extremely phat and shapely ass that went well with her body.

The spinner that caught my eye in the lobby walked in. We locked eyes. She walked over. And the rest is history. Back to the room we went. BBBJ (I didn't even ask! FS (many positions!) and a relieving release. Showered together. She gave me a massage from heaven. I got hard again. BBBJ CIM! My head was spinning in joy.

She quote cien but I gave her 50 K colones. She was cool. I took her number for Whatsapp because she is getting a call back in the near future.

Nice Taormina! I am a fan now!

I will return there tonight!

Del Rey is not open. Will not be open to what it was before. That is what I have heard. They want to open it as a more family friendly place. Around that area downtown you had the bars Malibu and Poas. You also had a few pensions in the area. Malibu was a great place to meet local Ticas and Poas was a great place to drink with a bunch of American Ex-pats. I was curious to know if they have the same kind of social distancing rules that we have here on the east coast. I would not want to travel a few thousand miles to a place where there is no place to go and nothing to do. The last time I was there you had some pretty cool bars downtown and there were a couple of Karaoke bars as well.

Planning my return to SJO in May. I've heard good about both hotels. From differing vantage points:

Taormina: About the closest thing to HDR these days; quality of the girls? Guest fee?

Castillo's: I hear they have a $110/ night all inclusive? Was reported to have 12-15 girls in the bar area recently.

Also, boots on the ground are saying HDR will reopen Apr 5th as the same format is had been.

There will be an "all white" party at the Taormina the 30 of this month.

Right now due to covid "restrictions" they can only allow 25 girls inside the bar area.

By the 30 of this month the "restriction" changes and they will allow up to 40-50 girls inside.

The Taormina is "Del Rey" right now (party, sexy chicas, casino, restaurant and bar).

Open from 14:00 to 23:00.

Del Rey is gone; deal with it, and have fun man!

Was in SJ end of January and got tested at one of the many LABIN labs in the city. Mine was located in a shopping center, they spoke English and knew the type of test I needed. My return flight was on a Sunday so I made a Thursday 9 am appointment. Cost was $96 and I got my results with a doctor's signature PDF via email around 7 pm on Thursday. United Airline's app let me upload the doc and about an hour later United sent me an email that I'm good to fly. Super easy process and you can probably call ahead to set up the appointment.

It was an overpriced hotel and bar and IMO a real shit hole.

Taormina is the spot. Nice rooms and facilities at a fair price.

Booked a trip to San Jose middle of June. Booked a room at Taormina hotel. Renting a car. On Expedia king room is $73 per night with breakfast for 2 and free parking.

My question is for people who stayed there. Is parking a problem? Or it should be pre reserved with a message to the hotel through Expedia?

Posts say it is extremely girlfriendly with no chica fee. Is it true you can take anyone up to your room? Is more than one allowed? I am sure they will check I. The which is good.

Is the casino and bar area open around the clock? How far is it from old Del Ray?

By that time test requirements will hopefully go away.

Thanks for the reply.

Front Office Manager..Staying at Taormina past couple days. Chica fee is $15. Probably due to the Easter Holiday things are kinda slow but still 20+ talents normally showing up after 8 PM. Fun stuff.

Masajes are open for business regular hours. Went to Monica's yesterday, and Relax the day before. Both had 5+ Chicas of average quality. Requested CIM and Culo and with 100% acceptance rate. After some pleasant propina negotiations.

Leaving tomorrow morning. Hotel could not arrange COVID test over the weekend so they sent me to Lab this morning. Easy walk and results were emailed in about 2 hours. $50 todo.

Was surfing at Jaco Beach Thurs-Sat, and stayed at Cocal. Beach vibe is good but of course things are expensive and masajes were not satisfactory. Speaking from surfer's point of view I did it right this time. 2-3 days in Jaco and the rest in SJ.

Still think Rio is better overall, but appreciate CR a lot more after this trip. Will come back.

Thanks for the reply. They have some underground parking. Don't know the cost. Fees as others have posted. They are quite security conscious and will check cedula and record for anyone going with you to your room. Which is good. It's a 16 minute walk from the old Del Rey. 18 back. Not sure why that would matter.

Hours, don't know current restrictions. And test requirements to go back to US is what I presume you are talking about. No problem if you are vaccinated. I think.

Anyway I might cancel this trip if the testing requirements to come back to USA and Costa Rican travel health insurance is not retracted.

Rental car, hotel, airfare are all can be cancelled. Only the airfare maybe goes to credit which is only $300.

About 10 km from Tamarindo, you need a 4 x 4 really as there is some dirt roads.

Beach has a nice bar and you can rent a board all day for $10. Also have bodyboards.

Waves are usually spectacular and consistent and is a great place to take a day date from Tamarindo if you are staying in that area.

Thanks for the reply. Is parking a problem? Not really. The price is certainly right (free). To get to their parking you go to the left side of the hotel, down the hill and re-enter the hotel property through the gates on the right. The parking is an underground garage under the hotel. But be forewarned the garage is very tiny with only maybe a dozen tightly packed spots. If the garage is full it can be kind of tricky maneuvering around. Tbh, I don't recall if I reserved a space ahead of time or not. My guess is that confirming a spot ahead of time couldn't hurt just in case they're full but that, with tourism down finding an empty spot and maneuvering in and out of the garage won't be so much of a problem these days.

Besides that, most people don't rent cars while they're staying in San Jose because a) driving in the city is a huge pain in the ass b) secure parking once you get to wherever you're going in the city can be a pain in the ass too c) the risk of getting into anaccident and/or having your car broken into is much higher in the city and d) taxis (or even buses) are plentiful, cheap and so much easier (and for short distances, which is mostly what you'll be doing, is even cheaper and easier to do by walking). Why pay $30 or more per day to rent a car that you'll mostly leave parked while you're in the city when your total daily taxi bill will be less than a quarter of that? I understand completely about your desire for mobility but if you feel you really need to rent a car for that, I'd strongly recommend you limit it to the days you're going outside the city (e.g. to Jaco, Fortuna or maybe for day trips to Central Valley locations like Alajuela/Poas or Cartago/Irazu/Orosi although such day trips are usually best done as part of organized tour unless there is a group of you). Just plan those days accordingly so that they're grouped together

I rent a car at the airport from reputed international companies. Iris a no brained for me. I like the freedom of going anywhere any time I want.

Do not like any organized tour. So far never got into trouble. Only in Belize one time my parked car was banged up. No issues because I had full insurance. I have traveled all over Costa Rica driving with either one of the couple of local girlfriends. Great time together including the one 18 year old teaching me how to please her and me.

Don't think you need a car in San Jose. I've visited 2 years ago. San Jose is very congested. I took Uber everywhere. Then when I wanted to drive around the country and visit some places I rented a car. The most stressful part was driving out of San Jose. Once out in the country it wasn't a problem. I elected to get full coverage and was glad I did. Someone while I was parked caused some minor damage to the lower rear part of my car prorbably pulling out of a parking spot. Everything was completely covered by the insurance. I won't rent again without electing the full coverage but if you only plan on staying in San Jose, just use Uber or a taxi.

For the former a lot of guys are using Trawick. The later is a piece of cake, with on demand service and results within hours for about $50. This is only for boarding. By all reports customs doesn't check it.

P.S. You must have made your reservations way in advance. The Covid insurance requirement has been in place since last fall, and the test on return has been in play about three months.

Hi folks, I am coming to Costa Rica next month to meet my beautiful lady in Liberia. I will be flying in to San Jose. What is the best and easiest way to get to Liberia from San Jose? I plan on spending the first night in San Jose, then finding my way to Liberia the next morning.

Is there a bus to Liberia? Would a private car be reasonably cost efficient? I haven't a clue. Thanks.

Is there a bus to Liberia? Would a private car be reasonably cost efficient? I haven't a clue. Thanks. You should be able to take a SENSA plane which is the domestic airline of CR usually about $100 each way. 35 min flight.

You can take the bus from the 7-10 station in San Jose but it is not that comfortable and easily a 5-6 hour ride.

3 hour drive to Liberia if you rent a car. A private driver is going to be over $150-200 so I don't recommend. If you need a car just for the drive rent one from Alamo or Budget in San Jose and then drop off in Liberia. You can take Rte. 1 all the way and it is a safe and scenic and pleasant drive. But. It is a bit long.

I won't rent again without electing the full coverage but if you only plan on staying in San Jose, just use Uber or a taxi.I do not stay in San Jose all the time. Yes, I meet girls there. Usually I like to take them on day trips. I met a very pretty tica with big boobs who lives near puerto limon. She suggested there is a carnival and we went. On the way she had her friend meet us and come with us. Equally pretty but not a working girl. We had a great time all day and night till midnight. We also went to an island nearby in a boat. In the evening there was a big music and dance party. I got to dance and kiss her friend. I suggested she come for a threesome back in San Jose. But she declined.

Met a very pretty Colombian and took her all day trip to Arenal. We had a great time at the hot springs pool all afternoon. People were looking at her and me maybe jealousy.

Took another girl to Jaco and Manuel Antonio, hired a boat and went fishing, island beach, made out on the sand with full view of the boat person who was little far but still could see.

This is the reason why I rent a car. Very adept in driving crowded conditions. Still take full insurance. Helped me couple of times with dings.

One time in Belize somebody smashed the window. I guess they thought of stealing something but I do not keep anything valuable.

People are very nice when driving to out of the way places. Some look at us funny but a smile goes a long way. Having a fully Spanish speaking girl helps. We have been offered drinks in local places by strangers. Only one time a drunk guy wanted to dance with my girl but you should see the fury in my girls face when she threatened him. Spanish girls are feisty.

My thing is wife up, get immersed in culture, drive with abandon.

That sounds like a great way to travel Sammon. I assume you are fluent in Spanish if you are meeting girls in San Jose and they come with you on day trips. I had a vehicle but traveled on my own. I drove to many places, but it would have been great having a chica with me on some day trips. When I went the Hotel Del Rey was open. I drove to Jaco Beach, Manual San Antonio, to a coffee plantation, Arenal etc. I used a translator on my phone. I speak some Spanish but I am not fluent. Where are you meeting these girls to take on day trips?

Where are you meeting these girls to take on day trips? When Del Ray was open. I can manage Spanish, not fluent as there are many dialects. I would get a girl for LT and in the morning if she is likable I would suggest. Sometimes they would want a friend come with us which I do not mind. For the trip I bear the expenses for all. But my girl will stay with me another night after we come back and will get another LT.

Couple of times I had gone with a friend of mine and we find two girls and take them and we split the expenses. I am sure you can find a girl to go with you but make sure you both like each other in the morning and there are no money demands for the trip. Usually I will buy them some touristy things and clothes. One time a nica girl asked $50 for day travel. I said only if she likes to see things and enjoy she can come. She changed her mind after I said we will stay together another night and will get the same amount for LT. So in essence you are keeping her for two nights. Maybe they are worried after the daytime travel they will need to go back on the hunt being tired from the trip. As you know very well these girls sleep all day getting ready for the night.

Driving alone must be really boring!

If you put a little effort in to Spanish, and being playful and friendly and kind to them you are so in.

Many will go with you and after a while not ask for any pay they are happy to have a trip somewhere. It helps doing that after a few meetings or dates as they will definitely accompany you anywhere.

Just remember you are always going to flip the bill.

You can really meet them everywhere just smile and talk. I do not speak fluent but try. Some of the places I have met Ticas:

The mall.

The beach.

The bars.

Restaurants.

Sex shop in the mall.

Tinder.

The airport.

Escazu Tiempo.

Downtown SJ.

Jaco Beach.

Tamarindo.

Manuel Antonio.

Sometimes Uber.

Escazu Walmart.

Point is Ticas are everywhere with a smile on their faces.

Anyone on the ground want to share their experience with the curfew? I had a trip planned at the end of May.I just got back from Jaco Beach which is one and a half hours from San Jose (for those that are not aware). San Jose is absolutely hammered with ICU beds at almost 100% capacity so they are going into a full lockdown that will most likely last at least a month. The city will for the next week close non-essential businesses, including restaurants and bars, across the center of the country due to a sharp increase in new cases of COVID-19 and hospitalizations, the government said on Thursday.

From May 3-9, restaurants, bars, department stores, beauty salons, gyms and churches must close in 45 municipalities in central Costa Rica, where almost half the population lives and over two-thirds of new cases have been registered. " We are in an unprecedented situation, and many people are going to die," Health Minister Daniel Salas said after announcing 2,781 new daily infections, a record number. "There are already waiting lists to enter intensive care. ".

The city of San Jose is going into a shutdown, so those that plan on coming here for mongering should divert and go to Jaco Beach. There are many girls from San Jose currently in Jaco, and all you need to go is stay at or near the Cocal Hotel and go to the bar at the Cocal called "Frogs Bar". Although the curfew is at 9 pm, the girls start arriving as early as 6-7 pm and there was an after hours open party next door at the Vista Mar Condos which is the next property over so the curfew is manageable. Every night there were at least over 80 to 100 girls arriving at the Cocal Bar except for Monday and Tuesday which had less girls than that. But we managed to have a good time every day. Hope this helps.

How long does the other after hours party last? I also heard there are parties at different places after hours. But may be those are not legal? So I was worried if the show really ends at 9 pm or could it still last well into the night with these other options. And also do you risk running into trouble with the cops if you go to those parties? Just wanted to understand how the whole situation is down there. If it's a dead scene after 9 pm, I will consider postponing the trip.

Wow, this is crazy. I was hoping to take a trip to San Jose. I have never been to Jaco. It would suck to go to Jaco, and not find the after hours spots. I waited all this time to get vaccinated, and now this. Well, I have a month to go. Before I figure out where to go. Stay safe.

A: The after hours lasts from about 9 or 10 pm until 1 am but starts clearing out early. I would not rely on pulling girls from here unless all else fails at the bar. It is cool to hang out though and have some drinks pool side at the after hours instead of going home and there is no cover charge.

Q: I also heard there are parties at different places after hours. But may be those are not legal?

Yes, we heard of some possible after hours but it appears to be places for many locals to party and only on weekends I would assume they are defiintely illegal. Just seemed to much trouble to do the leg work when girls are ample at the Cocal. The action is from Wednesday through Sunday really lasts until about 11 pm before the crowds go back to their places. I would recommend arriving on a Wednesday as Monday and Tuesday are slow but if you still need to stay all week you will not have trouble finding enough talent. At the moment, I cannot think of another city in Latin America with as many girls in 1 place with decent curfew times. We had no trouble meeting girls, so I would recommend going. You have to keep in mind that there are girls by the poolside bar at the Cocal that start arriving as early as 1pm, then a group of a few may come by at 3 or 4 pm from San Jose looking to meet guys in the day. So, if you hang out by the pool area at the Cocal you will have enough girls to choose from even with a 9 pm curfew Sunday to Wednesday. Hope this helps.

And is there a fee to enter cocal or Vista? P. s is there any place to get food, or order food after the curfew? Thanks.

Thanks.Hi Crusader; Vista Mar condos would be my first choice but most of the condos are 3 bedroom condos so it depends how many of you are going. We were lucky to have 6 people in our group so we rented 2 condos. We did not have good luck finding other condo options on AirBnB for some reason and the majority of the buildings in Jaco are non guest friendly or have time restrictions (cannot bring girls in until 10 pm or no changing of guests, etc.) so there is no need, in my opinion, to look at other buildings besides Vista Mar.

If you are just 2 guys it may be not worth it to spend 400-450 on a 3 bedroom condo but some guys still prefer the extra space. One thing about the Vista Mar Condos is that the Cocal rents about 20 of the condos in the whole building and can run out of them. There are also private owners that rent them on VRBO and that is where we got 1 of the condos from so check on VRBO also and compare rates, sizes , etc..

The rooms at Cocal are just okay but cannot compare to the Vista Mar Condos as you are getting a full living room, kitchen, and a large balcony. The girls were very impressed being at the Condo and we had the space in our room to have little parties in the living room and hangout on the balcony also. The hotel is sitting next to the Cocal and they allow you full use of the pool and bar at the Cocal even if you stay at Vista Mar. Access to Vista Mar after hours is also granted at no charge if you are at Cocal as they want you to buy drinks which is done by the Cocal.

The hotel rooms are just okay at the Cocal but are on the smaller side and just okay in decore. If I was traveling solo, this is still the way to go and no doubt worth it.

Lastly, the Cocal has a premium block of new larger suites that are awesome but can run about 380-400 per night. But, they are absolutely modern, large, and very nice. These are 2 bedroom options which is great for 2 guys not so much on a budget who want something nicer.

There is no fee for the girls nor you to bring girls at the Cocal or Vista; they just have to sometimes show an ID to the cool security guys which is for your protection and not a trouble at all.

As far as the food; we did not really go off the property after hours as it is not super safe to wander Jaco that late. Yes, a friend of mine was mugged 1 year ago and had his wallet taken a block away from the hotel. But, ask the front desk at the Cocal if there are delivery options after hours and they may know. You can also store food in your room at the Vista Mar and it has a full kitchen which is great. Hope this helps.

Guys,

Recent Developments.

Costa Rica saw its highest daily increase of new COVID-19 cases on May 12,2021. There were 3,173 new cases over 24 hours. The second highest number of cases was reported on May 13,2021 (3,039 new cases). There were 2,815 new cases on May 14. Before the latest wave (April and May), the highest increase in cases was during September and October of 2020. During those months, the highest number of new daily cases reached 1,556 on September 18,2020.

Costa Rica is experiencing a record number of hospitalizations, which is straining the country's public healthcare system.
Currently most businesses are able to operate, with some exceptions. On May 10, Costa Rica announced new measures that would be enforced for the rest of May. Businesses can operate and driving is allowed only between the hours of 5:00 am And 9:00 pm National Parks will be limited to 50% capacity. Bars 25% capacity, and social events will be limited to 30 people. An additional driving restriction will also apply countrywide.

As you can see from the above data due to the strict curfew, bar limitation at 25%, and sheer number of cases, it is not a good time to come to Costa Rica until the numbers go down. Sorry, don't shoot the messenger.

I really appreciate the intel. To be honest, I'm desperate to expand my horizons. Was close to pulling the trigger on a trip to MDE but the situation there is not good. I've been there and so anxious to get back but just not the right time. So I did research here on Costa Rica. Cocal sounds interesting to me. But this post made me delay it. It just doesn't sound like the perfect time for a first timer. Appreciate the intel! For now, I'll keep Tijuana in business. LOL.

Hey guys,

I wanted to contribute my experience for when I visited towards the end of April.

I spent about a week in San Jose during which I stayed at the Sportsman. The price was fair, roughly 75-80 per night for a pretty nice room away from the bar / restaurant area. It could get a little loud at night with all the partying. I would say it's a slightly higher working girl to men ratio; the girls are probably in the 5-7 range. Most look better from a distance or after a few drinks. They all typically wanted 100 to start off negotiations, some of the old timers discourage tossing 100 left and right. Most offer all nighters for 200-250; some all day / night for 300. The girls come and go as they please, but they do have to register with the front before coming in. You are allowed to bring your own girls in, just have to sign them in at the front. I was told they have a policy of blacklisting trouble makers. I will have to say that some of the girls are VERY persistent even after telling them no thanks they still want to hang around.

While in San Jose, at the Sportsman I did give a few ticas a try. Most of them spoke okay English, some fluent. The services vary, some oral w / o condom, some with. I didn't try to push the issue as I was new to the scene. I would say the service was very mechanical with poor acting; would say average for the girls down at the bar. Others may say otherwise. I did ask for the number of the girl I spent some time with (mainly because I didn't know what was out there yet), but never reached back out because someone wiser said "try 10 girls 1 time, not 1 girl 10 times. " You will have better luck connecting with some of the CR vets at the bar for better contacts (see bottom for more info). While staying at the Sportsman, I did try to give Skokka a try, as soon as I mentioned Sportsman, 30 k CR became 100 USD plus travel.

I was told that the MPs offered much better service with better looking girls; a CR vet down there showed me around. Treated myself to two ticas at Monicas, they had about 8 girls working on any given day. The girls ranged from petite to well. I guess normal? Fit? Looking; I definitely wouldn't say any of them were "thicc" or any of them were on the heavy side whatsoever. The owner was a pretty swell guy, excited to show you the selection of girls and give recommendations and types of service they excel at. I got a little bit ahead of myself and winged it the first time, apparently I chose poorly (least recommended girl there). Second time though I listened to recommendations and chose wisely. A cute little petite spinner; big glasses and smart as heck too. Excellent service, and very attentive; was able to hold a conversation with some help from our friend google translate. I will have to say that both the days I went there the girls were absolutely gorgeous; however, I cannot attest to their quality of service, since I did not pick with my brain the first time. It was 40 usd for 1 hour, extras you discuss with the girl once you get to the room; typically 10 for both oral sin condom and kissing. I will say this though, I'm headed back down there in a little while and as soon as I drop my bags at my hotel I will be paying Monicas a visit, maybe for a couple of rounds since it's only 40 usd for an hour.

I try to introduce myself and meet new friends wherever I go, was able to join a conversation with a few CR vets at Sportsman. Asked them for some tips to educate this newbie; plenty of great info, good bunch of guys. I wanted to go on some adventures and do touristy shit like hiking / rafting / ziplining; surprisingly one of the CR vets had just the girl for that. We left right as CR tightened up restrictions to 9 PM curfew, went up to La Fortuna to enjoy some thermal spas, the hotel didn't care much for the curfew. As for this chica, 250 for the whole day / night and she had a car so she was the one driving and acted as a tour guide. I will say CR driving gives me a god damn heart attack. We ended up staying together for almost 2 days because she was too exhausted from the day's activities to drive back to San Jose; did not charge extra. When we met she was a bit newer to the scene; she is quite ambitious and I would say high maintenance. If you're okay with spoiling someone or treating yourself to nicer experiences I would say she's your girl but YMMV.

TL; DR: Girls typically wanted 100; ones in clubs / bars were average. Great experience was had in MP, 40/ HR; will be giving these quite a few visits the first day back till jr says enough is enough. CR vet recommendations are definitely experiences to be had. Make friends.

I will miss the Del Rey, loved sitting around that place partying and watching all the bootie walking by. I had some fine pussy while staying there and only 1 rip off. But yeah Medellin is the bomb for mongering, inexpensive beautiful Paisas who have never heard the word clock watching, hell lots of the time they are still there in the morning. I want to go back but think I'm going to go Costa Rica this round due to Covid and the political unrest going on in Colombia.

Medellin is alive and well, and 1/2 the price of way overrated costa! Being you been already try Medellin if you haven't already! Have fun, but del ray back in the day was lots and lots of good times, like being in the wild Wild West a group of us used to say! Very sad.

Hi, friends. Sorry if this has been discussed before (I did do a quick search). I am looking for a reliable STD clinic in San Jose where I can get tested for STD's and receive treatments and prescriptions if needed. Preferably private clinic where english is spoken. Money is not an issue. Thanks in advance for any info.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your problem. But, you can walk into any pharmacy and get some antibiotics to clear it up. No prescription needed, If you know what it is. But, if not. It is better to see a doctor. Good luck.

Hi,

I am sorry to hear about your problem. But, if you had it before, and know what it is. The pharmacies in San Jose do not require prescriptions. But, if it is your first time. Then, going to the doctor would be your best bet. Good luck.

I just booked my 14 day trip to Costa Rica and will be arriving in San Jose on July 10th. I went ahead and booked the first 4 nights at the Sportsmen to get myself into the groove and also plan whatever other places to venture to. I was thinking about going down to Jaco for 4 nights at the Cocal. Any ideas on best way to get there? Last time I took the bus which was very affordable but a bit of a pain since the bus station is pretty far from the Cocal. Not only that but the bus ride was a little frightening LOL. If anyone is going to be in town and want to hang out and have some drinks and chase tail let me know.

She is legit car ride provider only. As far as I know. Nice car but that rate may be a bit expensive and again this info is all pre covid.

Otherwise you can take an uber and ask the driver what his rate is. I had a driver turn off the uber and just charge a flat $60 to Jaco from Belen in the airport area. This was is January so very recent. Guy was happy to do it. I asked the rate in Spanish with my novia and he quoted. Did not try to further bargain.

Actually though. If you are going to have more than a week and are adventurous rent a car. 4 x4 will probably be under $500 for the trip. Not too bad.

The drive to Jaco is super easy and safe as long as you are a good defensive driver. LOL.

I have rented a car and driven to every part of the country and obeyed all traffic laws and just cruised and never had a problem.

Thanks for the advice, $125 is a little steep unless it included 1 hour GFE in my new room at the Cocal. Thanks for the Uber idea, I think $60 would be doable just for the simplicity of not taking 2 taxis and bus ride.

When I Uber around SJ I'll run it by the driver.

Being only a block and a half away from Sportsman (but most nights Sportsman had better talent but often inline outside trying to get in so easy to sweep of to the Castillo).

Hey everyone,

Just adding a recent report as I'm currently in San Jose (but will be leaving soon).

SA has been my best bet so far. Granted I want to say I'm an above average looking male so that was in my favor. I've had 2 different girls stay overnight each for about $150 each. Had 3 pops with one, 2 with the other. However because Costa Rica is apparently one of the more expensive Latin American countries, this seems to get to the girl's heads and egos thinking that they can demand more.

I went to Monica's which is a daytime spot. Wasn't too impressed. Maybe 4-6 girls in there ranging from 3-4's to your average has been. I left and went to Sportsman Lodge. It has a big airy space that allows you to walk around and has various tables for seating. One of the bartenders are attractive (7), but that's where the fun ends. Most of the girls in there were just not up to my minimum standards and I quickly left after a beer.

From there I ventured into Taormina for 2 nights. If you don't have a room there, you can book one for an hour for $40 USD which is a bit steep IMO. The girls here are slightly more attractive averaging like a 6. However on my second evening there when I was about to give up all hope I met this pretty attractive Venezuelan girl (8) and we sparked up a conversation. Very basic English and we used a translator which wasn't an issue. She asked for $150 at first and I said no way. I think told her thank you and was going to leave but talked her down to $100. She was fun, but a bit feisty. In the end I got her WhatsApp but don't believe I'm coming back to Costa Rica anytime soon. Perhaps I might check out Jaco next time I'm back but I think South America (Colombia / Brazil) is calling me back home.

Thanks, for the information. I have a few more questions, if you don't mind. Would you recommend staying at an airbnb? Or is it better just to stay at cocal, or the Vista Mar condo's? And is there a fee to enter cocal or Vista? P. s is there any place to get food, or order food after the curfew? Thanks.Airbnb all day in my opinion. On my last trip just before Covid. I stayed in CR for a week. I booked an Airbnb in both San Jose and Jaco. Both were very inexpensive (less than $45 a night) and the SJ place was in a really nice high rise condo. In both places I had zero issues brining girls back. Although I did get awkward smirks fork the guard at the condo! Hope this helps. Planning to go back soon. Wouldn't mind meeting a fellow monger. After years of going at this hobby solo. I'm comfortable enough to seek some hobby bros to navigate these destinations with.

Hi guys,

Thought I'd give a couple of reports real quick about SJ. Was there a month ago and went to the Taormina for the first time. Wasn't too impressed (well, it was a Tuesday) so went to Hotel Castillo for the first time (also not impressed), so went to the SL for the first time as well. The good thing is that the Sea Bass is really good for a dinner, and I ended up chatting with a nice little spinner for a while while I ate. I ended up grabbing a room for the hour long romp (of which she rode me CG for the whole time). I hate condoms (but of course use them) so I lasted longer than what I think she was expecting. She had a couple of pops before I did! Though I did like the event, she literally bailed out really fast. Maybe to get home to kids or something like that? I did notice her post baby belly but it wasn't bad (and I'm not Adonis so I really don't care). Paid a hundy for her and 80 for the room.

Two weeks ago was back down there on a Friday night and there was much more action. Had the Sea Bass again with grilled veggies and it was quite good again. A tall, thinner smoking hot tica sat down after I'd turned away a few others. She was just a hammer, and funny and engaging. Had to pay $120 for a room, but it was totally worth it as she fucked me wicked good. CG, reverse CG, doggy, on our sides, with her moving and groaning and having her pops as well. She's like "Uh, how about you get my number and WhatsApp me when you come back?" Though I have her digits now, I still want to see what else might pop up when I'm there Wednesday. I stay on the other side of town and am not ready to bring anyone over there, so will see what happens in a couple of days. I've enjoyed the last two ticas quite a bit, and like that there are little spinners and tall thin ones as well down there.

Will report back on how the next adventure goes. Oh, and yes they close at 9 pm. It's even a little difficult to get an Uber back to my hotel after 8 pm because no one wants to be stopped by the police after the curfew.

Cheers, Chris.

Trip To San Jose Part 1.

I arrived at the Sportsmen around 6:45 pm and grabbed the closest girl I could find to get broke in, after all it has been 16 months stuck stateside and I'm ready to cut loose. I probably should have chosen better because the Chica was a bit under performing in my opinion. Later the next day this Chica became a pain texting me the next evening wanting to talk to me and then telling me that she had no money for a taxi. I just ignored her. There were quite a few decent looking girls there for me to choose from and not too many guys to compete with.

The 2nd day I was getting to order some dinner and a little young cutie named Tania with a low-cut dress exposing a beautiful set of breasts. She does walk with a limp due to a car accident that she was in 3 or 4 months ago and still healing. We talked for a little bit and then I Told her we could get together after I ate. As I was sitting there pondering the many great plans I had my food showed up. Then a thought crossed my mind that As Tania was walking around someone else might snatch her up. So, I messaged her asking if she was hungry and if she wanted to share my salad. She messaged back a yes, she was hungry and came back to the table to eat. Afterwards we headed to the room for a little play time with massage, BBBJ, DATY, 69 with a finale CIM that she took like a champ. She did jump up and spit it out in the sink afterwards. Tania was very nice and enthusiastic so she goes on my recommended list.

Afterwards I decided a 60 minute massage would be nice so I headed down to Parque Morazan where there is a massage place on the corner called Katy that it shares with a small hotel. The price was $30 for the half hour which I thought was reasonable. The masseuses name was Andrea who was in her early twenties and pretty nice looking. She leaves the room and I strip down buck naked and jump on the table with nothing covering me. Andrea comes in and starts putting oil on me and proceeding with a very relaxing massage with a little sensual mixed in. On the flip she starts on the legs working them nicely. She asks if I wanted a happy ending for an additional $30 which I politely declined (didn't want to get the chicas at the Sportsmen mad at me LOL.) That's it for part one, part two coming soon.

Day 1. This report is as much a travel guide as a mongering report. This will also hopefully serve to help newbie to Costa Rica have a smoother / safer trip.

Landed. TIP: Make sure you have your health card (QR) ready. I saved mine on the phone (along with insurance, vaccination card and hotel booking info). If you're an American, you don't need to have Covid test done. You supposed to have your two shots (or in the case of JJ one shot) done. In reality, they don't really check although I also have the vaccination card ready. Most important next to your health card is your travel insurance. They are super strict about this.

If you did not purchase your travel insurance from a local provider per link from Costa Rica travel advisory website, please make sure the have your travel insurance info correct. Seems like the other popular option is Trawick (which I also got). It's a bit cheaper with my 1 week going for $47 USD (comparing to local provider at around $70 USD). The main hiccup was that the destination on my insurance also stated USA So check that carefully. Fortunately, they let me email the provider to make the change and took photo of it as proof. Still, that caused unnecessary hassle for me. There's a minimum amount of coverage so check carefully on this also if you purcahsed from Trawick although most of their coverages do seem to cover the minimum requirement for Costa Rica. To their credit, the rep replied and made changes same day. At immigration, they also want to know your hotel info (address and sometimes reservation proof) so have that at ready. In my case, giving them name and address is enough.

Made some small exchanges since the rate at the airport aren't the best. However, I need to have some cash on hand just in case. It's never a good idea to pay in USD for normal service because the exchange rate they give you tend to be bad. Bought a Prepaid SIM from Claro! Booth right at luggage pickup area (if I used USD, it would have been.

I stayed in the Santa Ana area. It's one of the safer part of the city. Okay to walk around and discover some interesting food and cafe in the neighborhood. Uber is the best and least hassle way to go. For that matter, I also used Uber from the airport. It was around 4500 CR to Santa Ana. Costa Rica is one of the source of many good coffee. I recommend Taza Amarilla for a great coffee in the Santa Ana area. Also popped by Salt Traders for a nice artisanal sea salt.

In the evening, I hit the "walk of shame". The drawback of staying in Santa Ana is the taxi fare. It's around 5000 CR one way via Uber. My walk of shame consist of Sportsmens Lodge for a nice baked sea bass grilled veggie dinner. It also gives me a more relax way of window shopping. Unfortunately, the best looking ticas are the two bartenders. I guess I'm used to Thailand / Vietnam / Japan / Korea / Laos selections. So this Nikki Minaj type body can a be a bit too much for me. On the way out to Taormina Casino, I spot this cutie looking at her phone right by the door. Her friend saw me and nudged her. Sensing my interest was with her friend. She's the slimmest one in the entire place Asian slim. Lots of tattoo (not my preference). She wore black rimmed glasses and this somehow adds to the overall package. I decide to sit down next to her (so I can get a closer look thanks to my failing eye sight). I also want to get a more concrete idea on the pricing since from other reports I read, it can start at $150 USD. She basically offered $100 USD for one hour / one pop. She's willing to follow me to Santa Ana if I would pay her taxi fare although she clearly prefers to go to nearby short time hotel (which I would never do as a rule of thumb in a developing or third world countries. Unless I live / work there).

As tempting as it maybe, I also know myself enough. Since I only had one Latin girl prior to this, I know it would take something to blow my mind to get me ready for that first go. So I just took her name and made my way to Taormina. In case you're wondering, HDR (Hotel Del Rey) is dead. Taormina is the new HDR. The lobby, coffee shop, bar, casino. Nook and crannies of the first floor of Taormina is filled with WG. Not unlike Apocalypse in Ho Chi Minh although the setting is the hotel. There's just one who fit my style out of the entire night. In both places, I do have women come up to intro themselves and of course offer their companionship. These tend to be of the lower tier ergo more aggression. Better to have your mask on because as is their culture, they get pretty touchy. Played some poker along the way just enough to win to pay for Uber fare.

That's my day 1. A recon.

07-24-21, 23:10
Prior to my flight to Costa Rica, I have started some conversation with an SB via SA. By end of Day 1, I reached out to an handful more. I figured the quality from SA will be higher than that of the ones you'll find on the ground at Taormina or Sportmens.

From my Day 1 recon, I believe this to be the case. Word of caution, most Costa Rican girls are super flirty. So them calling you baby, love, mi amor. Don't feel too special since they'll call any potential punters similar term of endearment.

The first SB I suppose to meet Day 1 flaked out on ground of feeling sick. Luckily I went by the rule so I have others as backup. As a matter of fact, my number choice reached out first. We had a great conversation and I could tell that she's from a good background with proper education. I tried to contain my excitement because based on her photos and bio, she does seem like a model material (face, proportion, height 175 cm).

While we continue our convo, I had a nice day of grass fed steak and excellent coffee. She usually lives abroad but in Costa Rica to visit family. Her hometown is about 2 hours from San Jose. She quoted $200 USD for a PPM. Honestly, I would happily (and was prepared for her to ask for that rate) pay $300. So I quickly accepted but not before clearing up that FS is part of the date. She asked me if I can help book Uber for her but I can deduct the amount from our arrangement fee!*.

She can see me on Friday without Uber since her parents can bring her to San Jose. But seeing I need to see her Thursday (because my place in Santa Ana is super nice) since I'll move to Tiormina Casino on Friday. So I agreed to have her take Uber over. Since we're at a raining season, it cost literally $100 USD as opposed to the normal $50 USD!

When she arrived, it was a big pleasant surprised. She looked even better than the photo! And her outfit / style, no wonder she had no problem getting past security. Very fashionable and high class. I thought to myself, "Damn, I hit a jackpot!" But my follow up thoughts, "I'm fucked. Because the rest of the girls will not measured up to this"*.

We spend couple hours just talking. Her English is good enough and her experience / interest varied enough to keep the conversation going really well. There are several topics we have in common so it was so natural for the both of us. We had Uber Eats deliver the food where we had a nice dinner over a nice bottle of wine I bought from a market nearby. Damn, this feels like a date with a really hot girl. I don't do SA a lot but I can say she's the best way thus far.

Dinner and conversation was at least 3 hours plus. During the talk, she mentioned that she's okay with stay over. At no extra charges! WTF. This is almost unheard of for a SB. *.

When they don't try to squeeze me, I tend to be more generous. But I'm super anal about overpaying or paying above what we agreed upon. So I offered to cover her Uber fair since that'll take the whole thing to $300 USD. For an overnight with this hot girl? Hell yeah. After dinner, we just shower and snuggled up to watch Netlfix. The whole experience was more like BF / GF. The sex came naturally during the process. I won't go into the detail but the experience was more like making out with your GF on a date before finally going all the way. It was a lot of kissing, making out, foreplay before we finally get to the sex.

She found out that I prefer to wake up later (9 or 10 am) so she made it a point to do also. No rush out in the morning either. So I offer to Uber her over to see her friend in the city as a final parting gift. I'm fucked. How's the rest of the trip going to measure up to this!

Hi,

So say hypothetically someone here is a first time monger who has never traveled abroad for sex tourism and hasn't traveled abroad in general. How would they go about learning everything about what to do? Is there a detailed guide out there for guys who are completely new to this to follow? I'm also willing to pay someone on here money if they can provide me a detailed procedure of how to monger, where to go, what locations to be around and most importantly meeting other guys. I could really use some help from someone who is very experienced with this and we can plan a trip to Costa Rica together so that you can show me around.

Just returned from a five night stay at the Hotel Taormina. My general findings with COVID still restricting activities:

-Hotel Taormina: much cleaner than the Del Rey, standard rooms (no balconies). I will return.

-Free standard breakfast American style (two eggs, bacon, toast and hash browns).

-No Chica fee, that I could tell (I had no issue taking girls up) The girls do have to register at the front desk, but there was no security at the elevator to verify. Depending on how you make your reservatrion may dictate if you have to pay a chica fee. See below.

-I made my hotel reservation with no deposit (See below).

-Small sports bar in the hotel is where the action is. Limited seating inside, so it fills up quickly. Only 6 seats at a smallish bar, that are separated by plexiglass, so you can't really talk to the person next to you. About 10-12 stand up tables; 2-6 person capacity. All patrons need to be seated when drinking (not strictly enforced, but they do announce warnings occasionally). Bar opens at 11:00 am. Girls start arriving about 1:00 pm and the number allowed is regulated, I'd gauge it at 15-20 max. If a hotel guest has a girl on his arm, she is automatically allowed in. I helped one of my "dates" get her girlfriend in to join us.
Once in the bar, you can generally remove your mask. It is needed to enter and exit.

-Girl quality is definitely lacking; only a couple 7-8 range: several holdovers from the HDR, for sure.

-The bar starts shutting down at 8:00 pm. At 9:00 pm, the girls who aren't with a guest, have to leave. After 9, the bar stays open for a little longer, for hotel guests, most nights the bar was closed before midnight. There is a DJ in the bar. Beers are about $3. I bought some shots, but I didn't really check to see what they cost.

-The casino is decent, but all seats at tables and slots are separated by plexiglass and masks still need to be worn. No alcohol is served or allowed in the casino. I did hear that you "may" be able to get an alcoholic drink in a small cup.

-A Covid test can be scheduled through the hotel and the nurse will come to your room; $60, results in three hours. The results will be emailed to the front desk and they will print it out for you.

Contact, if needed: I have a good friend who works with the Taormina (and Cocal condos in Jaco) and she will take care of your reservations, transportation and Covid test scheduling. She told me that reserving through her will eliminate the chica fee. Send me a private message if you want her contact information.

General info for newbies:

-CR has a strict mask policy, most everywhere.

-Exchange rate: The casino rate is $1. 00 = roughly 600 colones.

-The girls range in price differs; some ask more, depending on their age and looks. Times are hard, so good negotiation skills are helpful. The girls are trying to make a living and we all want a win-win, right?

I generally offer $80 and a "propina" for good service. I find generally, $80 to $150 to be the range you can get most any girl in CR.

-Taxi from SJO airport to the hotel area is metered. Expect to pay C20,000 - C24,000.

Depends on what time of day you arrive and how much traffic there is; and there's always traffic! For sure. And there were no long stoppages when my fare was 13,000. But I've never been anywhere near as high as 30 or 40,000, even with sitting in traffic. 30 plus dollars US perhaps. Anyway, only mentioning it because there are cabs that have a turbo setting on their meters, and they can easily run double the normal and legal rate.

Edit to add... I reread your post. You said 20 to 30 k. So 20 would be only a bit higher than the range I have paid...so with long traffic hold ups that could be the legal fare. My apologies for not re-reading first.

First time traveler. Coming in for a few nights (Aug 22-24) to enjoy a few ticas.

I've read through the reports and it sounds like Taormina is the best spot right now. Vs. HDR.

I plan on staying in or near the resort and not venturing out much. Kinda curious if HRD is even worth a walk through at this point, or if I should just stay put. Also thinking about a walkthrough of Sportsmens since it's pretty close by.

Any input for a first time traveler would be appreciated. I'll definitely give a full report when I return.

I was there a few weeks ago for 4 nights and chica Fee was $10.00 for a girl that I imported that I had met at the Sportsman. I did have another girl that I checked in with that I didn't have to pay for since I booked for 2 people and she was registered on the room.

It is a hotel in the downtown area of San Jose. Not a great neighborhood to go for a stroll after dark. But I have done it. Just need to know some stuff and be able to run really fast. As in have very good acceleration.

Sportsmans, Little Havana, Castillo, are all in the area. Some folks won't do the walk to the Sportsmans, but I do it frequently. Be nice to the trannies but don't encourage them, don't be drunk, and be ready to run fast uphill if you're there at night. It is a bit of a climb to the Sportsmans. Not noticable if you're young and fit. But a lot of the travelling mongers can't do that walk. Worried about strokes and heart attacks and such.

Hotel Del Rey is no more. At least it is closed and there are no signs of it opening to what it was in the past.

Walking in the daytime is no problem at all, at least going south and east from the Taormina. Which gets you to all of those other spots plus downtown.

I was at the Sportsmen Lodge sitting next to my beer pondering how I was going to pull off my side trip to Manuel Antonio. I started chatting with a fellow mongerer about stuff and mentioned that I was planning my trip to Manuel Antonio and was looking for a girl with a car to drive me around. He mentioned that he had met a girl online that was an Uber driver and he had not gone out with her yet and her name was Ducha (name changed slightly to protect the innocent) he offered me her phone number which I eagerly accepted.

I messaged her on Whatsapp about taking me around the City to see some of the sights and if she would like to meet me for dinner the following night. She accepted the dinner date and we met at a Argentinian Steakhouse. I was waiting outside for her and she shows up. I was a little shocked because she was a little under 5 feet tall and didn't weigh a pound over 85 (yeah, spinner came to mind, I'm 6'3 215 lbs). So I introduce myself, we grab a great table and I order a bottle of wine for dinner. So we start talking about stuff in Spanish and making plans for the next days tours. The wine was starting to settle in and I mentioned the trip I wanted to go on to Manuel Antonio. I asked Ducha if she wanted to take me there and stay with me for 3 nights together in the same room. She said that it sounds like a lot of fun and said sure. We chit chat a little more and then dinner was coming to the end and I asked if she would like to come back to my hotel room with me, she says yes again. Hmm, I'm thinking hey, I like this girl.

We get back to the Sportsmen Lodge (Felicidad Room), get down to our undies and I start massaging her breasts for a minute and then start to massage a little on her pussy and then boom a wave of squirt came out of her so fast and drenched the bed. I'm thinking, where the hell does this tiny thing store that much squirt. So, I do as any other guy would do in this situation, I get up, go to the bathroom to look for towels. Unfortunately, the maid had only left 1 towel and 1 hand towel. I'm thinking, yeah, just my luck. So, I grab the only towel and park it underneath her doubled up and get busy fooling around, she had another climax and then starts giving me a BBBJ, real soft and tender, after a while of that she stops and then proceeds to mount me bareback. I'm thinking, hmm is this a good idea? Then I thought what the hell, she is a low circulation Uber girl. So, there she is riding me cow girl and all of a sudden, I feel this really warm liquid surrounding the head of my cock and then flowing down my shaft and finally dripping down my balls. Then I realized that we were on my side of the bed and the towel was still on her wet side of the bed, crap the whole freak'in bed is wet now. So being a good sport I let her keep on riding me for a while. Then she asks me to do her doggie style, I'm thinking what the hell, what could go wrong with this LOL. So, I flip her over on her hand and knees and manage to get me cock in her doggie style. We go at it for a bit and then I start to realize the limitations on a 4'10 woman and a 6'3 guy in the doggie style. We finish up and then both fall asleep. The next morning, she leaves around 7:00 am after a little early morning romp, I gave her $100 in the morning and she was really happy with that.

Do they offer the test required at the airport? Thanks for any help.If you are fully vaccinated you don't need the insurance. But you would still have to fill out the online form. You can find it by searching for Costa Rica entry requirements. And for returning to the US there are lots of places you can get tested. I would not wait until I got to the airport.

PS.. if you are not fully vaccinated I would recommend that you do not go. You don't want to have to have your hospital stay in Costa Rica right now.

It will still rain a lot but generally mornings are sunny and the rain will have finished by dinner time. That said, this is still the tropics and you can get horrible storms up through mid-November.

I am planning a short trip from Houston to San Jose for 3-4 days, am just wondering how is the situation there now, and if it is worth the hassle? I have been to San Jose once many years back when Blue Marlin at Hotel del Rey was still the place of action. Just learned from other posts that it has been closed. Now the playgrounds switch to Sportsman Lodge and Taormina. Any guy here can share a quick update how it is now in San Jose for our hobby? Is the curfew still enforced and everything shot down before 9 PM?

My plan for the trip is to hang out at the 2 places mentioned and see how the chicas are. Probably have some erotic massages during the day. So recommendation for a good day-time erotic massage place is also appreciated.

Does Costa Rica have many white Latinas? I'm planning my next trip and I'm looking for recommendations.

Thanks fellas. There are girls of all colors. Even local ticas are some really fair with natural blond hair. Colombians who are in Costa Rica are fair. Nicaraguans are darker like Dominican. Venezuelans are of all shades as well. Lots of girls come to Costa Rica to make money from prostitution because it is legal. Till recently Costa Rica had very lenient immigration rules. Many come and get married on paper to a local which gives them indefinite domicile.

Pretty girls tend to demand more money. Costa Rica has become really expensive of late compared to yesteryears.

Thanks fellas. There are blond haired, blue eyed "Ticas" (Costa Rican women), due to the heavy European influence in the country. On the prostitution scene, you'll find a smorgasboard Costa Ricans, Colombians, Venezuelans, Nicaraguans and Dominicans.

There are blond haired, blue eyed "Ticas" (Costa Rican women), due to the heavy European influence in the country. On the prostitution scene, you'll find a smorgasboard Costa Ricans, Colombians, Venezuelans, Nicaraguans and Dominicans.I started my mongering career in Costa Rica. I remember with great fondness (and a big boner) those fine blonde ticas (and a few blonde Colombianas and one Venezolana too) I slam fucked way back when hehehe!

Hard to find nowadays though, sadly. Many of the Venezuelans I've cum across (no pun) are very light skinned.

I want to go badly. But, with everything including room service closing before 10 pm. It.

Is really hard justifying this trip. Even if you have someone Staying the night. That is a lot of time to kill.

As, I am trying to talk myself out of a trip, LOL.

Are there girls available in these pensiones? I'm not sure what you mean by different? One can still go in and pay for play? Are the girls wearing masks while having sex?Women are available. That is really their only reason for being there.

New Fantasy is now called Latin Divas. Reports on other forums have not been very positive.

Hotel Little Havana is now a Cigar shop. Years ago they split Zona 2 (previously Zona Blue) into 2 establishments, Hotel Little Havana and Scores. As I said, HLH is now a high-end cigar shop. Scores is operating under another name but is open. There are women there but they are freelancers. You can either do them onsite or take them back to your room.

Idem has been closed for years.

There are pensiones still operating throughout San Jose. No mask wearing during sex though some establishments might require one in the public areas.

The lower end (very inexpensive) pensiones that cater to Ticos abound on calle 6, pretty close to the Central Market (Mercado Central). It's a pretty sketchy area, don't walk there after dark. Though daytime is OK.

The ones that are higher end and recommended by gringos on another forum are Monicas, Relax and Oasis. Google should help you find them.

There was supposed to be a new place going in the old Zona 2 space. It has been closed up a for a couple of years. HLH up the hill a bit further is unchanged basically from the last iteration as Scores, and before that as the original HLH, but they now have no access to the old space where Zona 2 and Zona Blue were located.

Alll the pensions mentioned are really similar, but I suppose you could classify some as lower level, such as the Calle 6 ones. They are not called casas in Costa Rica, but are the same sort of thing. There are many smaller pensions throughout centro, and in other parts of the city. There may be a few less locals in the more expensive ones, but not always even then. HLH and Latin Divas have had similar pricing, with most of the others having a different and lower pricing structure, and the low end ones on Calle 6 having a lower yet pricing structure. I don't know what current prices would be.

2 months ago, things were really bad. Relax was closed, Monicas had just one or two women.

How are things now? Is Relax open now? Do they have a bunch to choose from at these two places or at 360?

Just got back from a few days in San Jose. I was asking some updates here before the trip, but got no response except a kind suggestion from Subcomm that turned out to be a helpful assistance in hotel reservation and the required covid test for returning to the States. I am writing this report in hoping to provide current info on the ground for guys who are planning a trip there.

I stayed my entire trip in hotel Taormina, a 4-star in SJ, but is probably only a 2 in the US. Nothing bad, actually served quite well for my trip, just don't expect US 4-star luxury. No chica fee if booked through Subcomm's agent, simple fresh breakfast included. You can also make currency exchange at the hotel casino easily. I got 610 Colon to 1 USD, the bank was giving around 622 and higher to 1 USD. If you need lots of Colons, a trip to the bank is probably worth the effort, I don't, so I just did in with the hotel for convenience.

The immigration at the airport was a disaster, so watch out for your arrival time. If your flight arrives at the peak hours, it may take 2-3 hours before you can leave the airport. It took me 2 hours, and I was lucky on a shorter line designated for CR citizens. I had prearranged a pickup with Subcomm's agent, so the trip to the hotel was a breeze.

Before my trip, I was expecting to see many Colombianas and Venezonas, totally wrong. Most of the working girls are local Ticas, and some Nicas, and you can find them right at the hotel bars. I didn't see any Colombiana or Venezolana possibly due to strict traveling policy. # and quality of girls are beyond my expectation before coming down. The hotel understands its survival in this critical moment depends on us, so our hobby is a bit tolerated INSIDE the hotel, and the hotel works hard to protect its customer's interest. One night I had an issue with a girl on the time agreed upon, and the argument at the end involved the hotel management. The girl was banned from entering the hotel in the future as the security supervisor told me the next day, more on this later in the report. During my stay, I saw about 50 girls inside and outside of the hotel in a good night and about 30's on the others. Girls working in the hotel don't bring condoms, so you have to prepare your own.

I also used cr. skokka.com as a source, and stroked up conversations with some candidates on Whatsapp 2 days before my arrival. I visited a few of them when there. In general, my 5 experiences with Skokka girls are good, not even a bad one. A couple of them were with hot enthusiasm actually, but it requires some preparation and efforts. If you can write in Spanish it's a big plus, otherwise use google traslate. All girls obscured their faces on their ads, so only some of them use their own pics. If you gain the confidence of the girls, they might be willing to send their actual photos, but will delete them after just a few seconds for privacy. Most ads on Skokka are either a few girls renting a house together, but put up their own ads, or brothel that is run by someone as well as some private massage parlors. Quality of girls is hit or miss. Out of the 5 I had, I grade them 1-8, 2-7's, and 2-6's that I normally won't even spend the time with. I also went to 2 better known massage parlors, Oasis and Golden. I didn't pick anybody at these 2 places for low quality of girl. Actually while in Oasis, there was one girl I would rate 8. 5, but was picked up by a guy in a noisy group of 6-7 who came in a couple minutes after me, and with no respect to others, jumped to the front and snapped her out of the lineup. I did protest to the woman in charge there, and left. The rest of the girls there were not up to the par.

The girl I had problem with in Taormina hotel was actually a young beautiful 8 in my book, and had provided outstanding service to me before the argument came up. We agreed on 2 hours with 2 shots, but she insisted to leave after one round which is about 45 min. Into the session. This scam is probably commonly practiced between the girls working in the hotel bars, so make sure you hold them to their words. The hotel stood by me after my explanation.

I did stop by Sportsmen's Lodge one afternoon, but only saw 2 girls there because it was early afternoon. I liked the setup of the bars in SL better than the bars in hotel Taormina, but without actually be in the action, I can't justify how the scene is at night.

In general, it was a fun short trip. If I had more days, I would have skipped CR and headed to Colombia. San Jose was a smaller city and is more manageable for a short trip. It doesn't have the options available like other big cities but I had no problem finding good candidates here. All options are closeby the city center or just a few minutes Uber rides like the massage parlors or chica houses. Uber works well, and is cheaper than the taxi. Taormina can arrange the required Covid test for your return to the US. I used my agent for that, and it works out the same, easy and convenient. You get the test result back in a couple hours. I had also prearranged the airport transportation with the agent, cost much more than Uber, but again for convenience and safety, it is worth it.

The Taormina is a two star hotel anywhere, not just the USA. Someone was just lying to you, which of course isn't surprising. LOL.

On the guy jumping ahead of everyone and grabbing the hottie, ahead of the guys who were waiting to see the line up also but arrived before him, the general policy in CR is the first person to pay gets the girl. So be careful sitting a girl down to vette her a little, to get a feel for what she will do and how fun she may be in the room. Some slimy passive-aggressive Tico (common style there) may run to the pay window and steal here out from under you. Robert the American that runs Monica's supports and defends this behavior, so I don't do business with him. While the gringo owner of the former Pirate Club didn't and found it as disgusting as many of us. If a girl is occupied with a guy, talking, with or without a drink, then she is off limits. Though it's okay to sit nearby and send her an interested glance. Then she can make the choice to ditch the guy if she wants. But the guy might have been an American. We have passive aggressive slimeballs here also. Wink.

As to the girl running out on you, refusing the two hours two pops, get it all in writing first. Show her in whatsapp what she agreed to, if the deal was made before you met at the bar. Otherwise you may have a record in Google Translate. Regardless, all she did was half of the job so she's only entitled to half pay. Give her that and bid her farewell, but keep an eye on her. Years ago some cropped haired bulldike at the Dunn Inn responded to that by throwing a beer bottle at the TV screen, and the monger had to pay. But few will go to that extreme.

And quality is down everywhere at the moment, even in Colombia. A lot of the Venezuelans returned home to ride out the pandemic with family. Also many of the hotter girls generally found other ways to survive, like web camming.

Just a few pointers from a guy that has been to CR many times. Thanks again, and suerte!

Well, finally got to have a mini trip.

Stayed at hotel Santo Tomas. Not, the best hotel, but it has a lot of potential. If the owner put some money in the place it could be a real gem. I normally stay at sleep inn. But, with the curfew that I hate. I figured I would take a shot. Because it has something no other small hotel that I have ever seen. It has a swimming pool and a jacuzzi hot tub. The first night was good. Got something to eat. Then told my friend, let's go in the hot tub. The only problem is. I didn't realize the place was booked with a group of male tourist group. So, when we got in the hot tub. All of a sudden. Here come a group of 12 other guys, LOL. So, I said. You know what. I don't care. I am going to enjoy my time in here. The next night the desk guy wasn't so friendly about using the jacuzzi after dinner. Which made me a little angry because that big male group was gone. So, We just stayed in the room. The last I told him it was her birthday. And I am leaving tomorrow. So, he let us use it. It really needs updating. No refrigerator in the room, no ice machine in the place. And a common microwave in the hall. With a common freezer outside by the pool for all to use. If they made changes it would be great. But, anyway. Before my stay over friend showed up the first day. I did go by the old new fantasy. It, was okay. A few 6's & 7's. Then I went to hotel Castillo. It, looks like it wants to be the new del ray. I saw maybe 20 women sitting around near the bar. It might be something to try on another trip. Then I left to see my friend. The curfew is very annoying. If you don't get up to eat by 8 or 8:30. You might be screwed. Everything closes by 9:30. I mean ghost town. So, you better have everything you need before the place goes black. Or, you have to wait until the morning. The worst part about the trip was the covid test. I did it at the hospital, so I wouldn't have to worry at the airport. But, wow. It was rough. They stick it all the way in your head until starts to hurt a little, where your eyes start tearing. Then she does a slow six count, LOL. It was crazy. Then she does the other nostril. I left there in tears, with my nose running. It was an experience. But, after 5 minutes I was okay. I might wait until the curfew is over to go back. Being I am a night owl.

Last, the quality of the bartenders and quality of service was terrible. The problem is, foreigners going to CR think they're going to find similar hotels that they are accustomed to, which is far from the case. There are (were anyway) quality places to stay that could be found in Escazu. That problem with that though is that it would leave you removed far from the center of the action. Or some just have grumpy old guy syndrome and aren't happy unless they are complaining. My rooms on the fifth floor, limited to only two, were very clean 2002 to 2013. I couldn't care less about dirty cards as gambling to me is a fool's errand. If they were so dirty I'd ask the dealer to change out the deck. The Rey won't re-open as the govt bought the Key Largo as a historical site.

After finding Colombia in 2016 I'm no longer a CR guy, except for a short visit once a year or so for old time's sake.

P.S. I saw where Expedia gave the Taormina 3.5 stars, very generous. I'd give it 2.5 which is more consistent with the online reviews.

If you are not a guest of the hotel, you won't be allowed in after 8:30 PM. But if you are, you can continue to party with girls till they close around midnight. I heard SL has a similar arrangement. The two are not far from each other. I believe there are other good lodging options, but you might have to pay a fee to bring a chica to your room.

Skokka is a bit tricky and need some efforts. Quality of Skokka girls also varies. In most cases, you won't see the girls until you turn up at their doors. Many girls use either fake or photoshopped pictures. So if you want to "see before buy", go to hotel bars, or go to some massage parlors who will give you a presentation.

When I was there early this summer I had a great time as it's between SL and Taormina making a walk between the two easy and good exercise outside of your hotel room. When I was there the rooms where livable and they offered an all-inclusive option for just $10 a night more, free shuttle to airport and half off COVID test if you stayed 4 or more nights. With it's large open air but covered courtyard where the chicas gather for all to enjoy. When I arrived from Jaco at around noon there where already 4-5 girls smiling and ready to chat which was a welcome change from being at the Cocal the night it got shut down for a week due to the size of the pool party.

So is it still a good option for single travelers to unwind and enjoy some of the local beauty?

When I went there for a quick look. There were 15 girls sitting near the bar area. And, that was about 5 pm. The place looked okay. But, they couldn't show me any rooms because it was sold out. But, I do like the all inclusive feature. Like you. I hope to hear more about this place.

Currently staying at the Hotel Castillo, first time here. Overall impression; old hotel buy has a lot of good qualities. The only room left when I booked for four nights was the rooftop penthouse (Room P-3). Nice outdoor deck with good views of the city and mountains beyond. Huge bathroom with large walk-in shower, big enough for four people, LOL. The hotel bar is rather large with bar seating for about 20 people or so; several sit down tables as well. The "all-inclusive" for food and drinks is a big plus! Overall the food is very good. The downside is that the kitchen closes at 7:30 pm and there is no room service. That said, you can ask for several beers, water, etc to take to your room, no questions asked. On any given evening there were 10-15 girls in the bar area; quality lacking bigly for the most part. No guest fee is also a plus. There is electronic security gate at the entrance; so everyone has to be buzzed both in and out. The Hotel Taormina is a five minute walk from the Castillo. The "Latin Divas" (formerly New Fantasy) is a half block away (more on that).

Latin Divas Bar / Massage: As noted, a 1/2 block from the Castillo; about a 1/4 mile from the Sportsman's and Taoramina.

Upon entry you will find a bar to the right and a seated area to the left where the girls sit out for viewing. Sadly, they wear their street clothes until you take them to a room. So, I stood at the bar and had a few beers as I surveyed the girls when I was approached by a 30-year old Nica. She spoke very good English and gave me a run down on the options. She told me that there are usually 10-15 girls at all times; most do not speak English. There are local ticos who frequent the place; as well as Gringos. The quality of the girls was a 5 - 7 ish. The Nica I chose was the hottest, by far.

I believe it was $40 for a half hour, $60 for an hours. There is a shower (optional) and secure rooms when you take a girl back. I took the Nica who had an awesome body. Paid upfront and you negotiate at a higher price if you want a BJ without condom. I got a massage, BBBJ and mulit-position fuck (with condom) for a 1/2 hour cost ($40). I gave her a tip at the end, which covered the BBBJ.

You can shower at the end of your session, but I chose not to since I was going back to the Castillo anyway.

Hotel / Casino Taoramina: Went to the casino daily and was in the hotel sports bar each day as well. The quality of the girls is above what you will find at the Castillo, IMHO. You can now purchase draft beer in the casino; when I stayed there in July, there was no alcohol service. Several girls from the old HDR now work in the Taoramina sports bar. Girls in the Taormona ask in the $100 range; but all is negotiable.

HDR Update: A couple guys in the Castillo told me that flyers are being handed out that the HDR will reopen on November 25th. Supposedly, a group of investors have bought it and will return it as a mongering sight. Reportedly, Gabby (ran the HDR) sold the place and "John" the older American, no longer has ownership.

I move the the Taoramina for three nights there starting tomorrow. Will provide an update in a couple days.

The Hotel Castillo has stayed off of people's radar because the hotel has only allowed unaccompanied chica's in the bar since CR opened back up a year ago. Prior to that, the Hotel Castillo and Hotel Amistad were known as girl-friendly hotels in the gulch but they were not places to pick up talent.

Finished up my three night stay at the Taormina. Very nice facility and was presently surprised at the number and quality of the girls since my last trip, back in July.

The girls will generally start arriving about 1 - 2 pm, but only a handful; maybe 5 - 6 in number. Night time varies, but I'd estimate 10-15 on any given night. Last night the hotel bar was hopping and there was overflow into the casino. There were a good 20 - 25 girls coming in and out from 6 pm - 10 pm. As I noted, the quality was much better than back in July. On one of the nights, one of the working girls wanted me to go up to the 4th floor for an after bar gathering. Not sure if that is an every night thing, maybe just on the weekend.

Weather: While this time of year is still regarded as the "rainy season"; it was sunny and in the mid-70's every day.

Back to my observations of the Castillo. It attracts an older crowd who appear to be regulars there. The good thing about this place is they don't have partitions up at the bar, like the Taormina.

HDR Update: I took a stroll by the HDR a couple days ago and there were workers in the lobby, putting up Christmas decorations.

Chubbs Sports Bar appears to have lost a lot of business due to the HDR having closed.

Departure: Getting through for my departing line was very quick! There were no lines to deal with. On the other hand, entry to the country took about 30 minutes. Make sure you have your QR Code open and ready to show at the airport. As a matter of fact, flying American Airlines, I had to show my QR Code before I could get my boarding pass In the US. Surprisingly, there were a couple travelers who did not have the right documents and were held up at the ticket counter.

Please try to get your arrival time in Costa Rica to be morning or EARLY afternoon.

When the 16:00 HR chine, it is the arrival time of a lot of flights from all over. The immigration desk gets overburdened even with all the booths occupied by officers and DO NOT successfully deal with the crowds.

You will probably get up to a 3 hours snake line before you pass immigration.

While you are waiting in the passageway sometimes all the way back to your gate you will see some people walking quickly past you. These are the Costa Rican citizen and permanent residents.

For you, it will be just exactly the reverse of what happens in Miami.

Patience. And follow my advice. Don't take a late afternoon arrival in Costa Rica.

I had a friend from Germany, took a 10 hours flight across the pond, waited 3 hours for immigration, then a 5-hour drive to tamarindo in a small bus.

He ain't coming back to C.R.

I haven't been to Taormina bar and casino yet so wondering how it works. Are punters staying at SL and Castillo welcome to enter the bar and casino? Does one need to order a drink and survey the girls or can one even hang around without buying a drink right away? Do the girls approach you in the bar or do they hassle for lady drinks?

Will appreciate any input. Thanks.

2. No cover charge and no required drink to buy. The girls are all well behaved and don't bother you for lady drinks.

Will appreciate any input. Thanks. The "lady drinks" are common at strip clubs, but as far as I know not at the hotels. Drinks cost the same no matter who they are for. The girls are independent and not paid in any way by the hotel. The hotel tolerates them and they bring in a lot of business probably, but also a lot of trouble at times.

So, would you say that next time you would stay in Taormina instead of Castillo. I am finding Castillo prices to be too expensive, I liked it pre pandemic but it is no where even close to worth the $$$ they are asking these days.

Closing time may vary depending on the place, the big issue is those places that are going with the vaccination requirement versus those that are not. If they don't check (although they follow other health measures) they can only operate at 50% capacity, if they do check and only admit people that are vaccinated then they can operate at 100% capacity. However in January they all have to only admit vaccinated people.

Coming back to San Jose in February. Been a long time. HDR was really cranking a few years ago. I think I will be staying at the Hyatt Place Pinares, a business thing. Any one know about the guest policy there? They have nothing on their website. What is the best way to travel back and forth to San Pedro? Are taxis expensive or should I use Uber. Last time there I used the buses. I appreciate any info from my mongering comrades. Thanks.

Change of plans. Found out the Hyatt is not guest friendly. I need recommendations on a guest friendly Airbnb or Hotel near the Taormina. Also is the Taormina well known as a monger hotel in Costa Rica. I hesitate to use it because of this. If the quality of women is not available there or nearby, does anyone recommend a reliable escort site or twitter account? Thank you gentlemen.

Only the 3 or 4 mentioned frequently here are, Taormina, Castillo, Sportsman's Lodge, and Amistad.

If you are worried about staying in a place known for being a monger hotel your alternative is to stay in a different area, and at a place that is not guest friendly.

Hello all,

Appreciate all of the great info on here. I hear differing recommendations in prior posts about how to handle the phone situation while in CR. I'll be there for the first time 12/27-1/2.

I currently have Verizon in the US and they offer an international roaming package that covers CR for a reasonable fee per day, though I hear their 5 G here may be 2 G there. I see Claro and Google Fi mentioned a lot. Any tips from recent travelers there on this?

I'd rather not mess with getting a prepaid or new line, but of course want to stay in communication with the ladies and home. Mainly the ladies. I do have WhatsApp and will use that as much as possible.

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Any advice appreciated, thanks.Really depends on your personal risk analysis for using your personal phone. If you have worries about someone snooping your phone and finding monger related information, get a burner phone and local SIM. If that's not a concern, you'll find coverage to be OK. You may not be satisfied with streaming video but WhatsApp works just fine. Also, WiFi is fairly common. Again, not the best for high bandwidth apps but perfectly OK for WhatsApp.

AdminOnly place in the world barber shop masquerading as brothel I found was in Shenzhen, China. They had a regular barber shop and in the back rooms with flimsy curtains. There were girls you could choose from. These were distinguished from the legit barber shops by a spinning round light with rainbow colors. I guess just like Amsterdam red lights outside a brothel this is a signal. This place was for mostly locals. No English spoken here. I was living in Shenzhen and could manage some mandarin and if I had problems I could call my friend. Really cheap sex at that time. 100 RMB for an hour or till the deed is done. Girls are pretty, young, giggly. They even giggled through sex. 100 RMB at that time was approx 10 dollars. You can have your hair cut, nails done, ears waxed, feet massaged, neck massaged in front. Condoms were not enforced although I took my own.

Have not seen anything like that anywhere else.

Hard Core Costa Rican expert monger here, perhaps you should read my report. San Jose is still good if you know what you are doing. The sportsman was a disappointment, maybe 12 girls there and maybe the one for you but not like old days.[Deleted by Admin]

The Taormina is the new Del Rey. You need to be aware how it works. If you come early evening, the girls will be gathering in the "poker room' to the right of the elevators. The Taormina does charge a chica fee, I think it's $10, but if you stay there (request a 4th floor room on the back side of the hotel) you should make your reservation for 2 people and the first girl will be free. If you have a car, you can drive a girl right into the lower level parking lot and take the elevator right to the fourth floor, avoiding the front desk, and the fee. At 11:00 pm, the casino will close and they will put those that are not in the know, either in the first floor bar, or out. The party actually has just moved to the 4th floor. When you get off the elevator at the 4th floor, the door across from the Elevator will say VIP. Just go open the door and you will find the party, a bar in the back, a DJ and a pretty good selection of girls. The girls come and go, must leave their cedula in a box at the front door but if you are staying there, you can take them directly from that room, to your room, no fee, no hassle. Her ID is still sitting in the box in the VIP party room. That room stays open until the business no longer supports staying open, could be as late a 3 am on the weekends. The other good places are the massage parlor, Monica's on calle 26 or 27 and Avenida 3 or 4, across the street from the Peruvian restaurant "Machu Pichu". You'll see an older guy standing a door and a staircase going upstairs. He will open the door and up you go. There will be 4 or 5 women up there, if they are not what you are looking for, just leave. There's a bunch of places like that, Oasis is another one I like. During the night, the best "nightclub" in Bario Amon is Alcasar. They charge a cover but you get two free drinks for the entry fee. They have beds in the facility that are nice but expect great quality at a hefty price. I often go there just to get numbers and see the girls during the day. Margaritas, by Clinica Biblica, took out all their beds during the pandemic, don't bother. The Girls of the Caribe sometimes has nice talent, again anyplace is great if they have what you want. Moulin Rouge is still a dive. Pantera Rosa is reopen but not the same. It used to get a lot of Nicas, which I like. In Costa Rica, they all want $100 but I never pay that much. Always pay in colones as they will equate 50,000 to $100 but it's actually nearly $11 less. I offer $75 and walk away at $80. I also specify an amount of time, not just doing the deed, since some will try to just get you off and leave. Don't be cheap with good talent. They all like lingerie, there's a shop on Avenida 1 that sells nice lingerie cheap. Jaco is overpriced, Coyol is just full of greedy girls looking for rich and uninformed gringos. Tinder is good in Costa Rica as is skokka.com The rumor is that the del rey is going to reopen as just a bar. I did see men working in there nearly every time I walked by.

I heard that the bar area is only available to hotel guests. Is this true? The COVID restrictions in San Jose / Jaco aren't a true curfew. Bars, restaurants, etc. , have to close at 11. "Private" parties can continue. There are driving restrictions after 11 but taxis are still operating. Similar workarounds are operating in Jaco.

Was at Taormina last week. What a poor business model they have. Everyone is masked up in lobby and casino area including a smattering of 5-10 women, some of them obese. They have two bars on ground floor, the secondary bar is usually sad looking, empty or has 4/5 girls and hardly any action. The main bar is a bit better but has no more than 5-8 girls, all of them hopeless, for me at least. Few punters but the bar becomes off limits to non hotel guests. The 4th floor bar is also for hotel guests only. The girls all try to insist on hundred but can't speaking any English other than the usual. Where are joo going, what is your name baby, joo want company.

Gone are the days when one could talk to girls in English. This shows you how much efforts these women are putting in this trade.

Rumor is that HDR will open in Feb and has been bought by Taormina. If so, this is a not a good news, I doubt if Taormina management can hold a candle to the glory days of HDR.

Overall, my trip was a big letdown.

I have had the time of my life.

I have had the time of my life.Your comment about English is strange. There never were "the days" when English was common, not sure where you found so many in the past. There are certainly as many now as there ever were. And I was able to go into all 3 bar areas you mentioned a couple of times in the past few weeks as a non hotel guest. Perhaps when they get close to capacity they would restrict it to hotel guests.

And as far as comparisons to the Del Rey. The Taormina was headed in the opposite direction before Covid. They were going to the non monger business model, restricting the bar area to very few working chicas, and those that were there had to be discreet, plus charging a fee for hotel guests that took chicas to the room. So, I think with Covid they changed to accomodate the business that was mostly available, and with the closing of the Del Rey and with the drop in non-monger tourism, that was the puta business. Post Covid who knows.

Rumor is that HDR will open in Feb and has been bought by Taormina. If so, this is a not a good news, I doubt if Taormina management can hold a candle to the glory days of HDR.

Overall, my trip was a big letdown.

I have had the time of my life.It sounds like you had "delusions of grandeur" for your visit. I have been to the Taormina twice post-covid and had enjoyable times. Sure, there are restrictions, but you make it what it is. In fact, my last visit in mid-November was 100% better from the trip I made in July. I had a fantastic time with a nice Tica and used a translation app as we spent a couple hours in the bar, then went up to my room. The girl numbers and quality in November was much better than my July visit.

The HDR was on the outs the past several years; I doubt it will ever return to its glory days.

Pretty please hook me up haha.

Hmm, I'm thinking hey, I like this girl..

I have my reservation for the Taormina for a week in February. Is it worth it. The reviews on here do not paint a good picture. Where would you gentlemen in the know suggest I stay. I anticipate one woman per night for about 4 nights of my stay. The last time in San Jose I used a couple of pensions which were nice and the Hotel Del Ray. Perhaps I should get a condo and use the escort web sites or twitter. Any suggestions would be appreciated as always.

I did not stay there, but have in the past. It is a very easy place to meet chicas, to go to the room with them, and generally just relax and enjoy yourself. Take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. Comparisons to "the good old days" at the Del Rey are useless. Getting a condo that allows visitors is not easy, and using escort sites also a crap shoot. So for a week go with one of the 3 or 4 places talked about on the board here, Taormina being one.

Only place in the world barber shop masquerading as brothel I found was in Shenzhen, China.

Have not seen anything like that anywhere else.Pre-pandemic you could find this type of service in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) Vietnam.

Coming down for a few days before going to Cocal for SuperBowl. Are the strip clubs open now? Or is the Taoramina and Sportsman the only places to go now? There really are no strip clubs in San Jose; certainly not with Covid. The one's they did have were for the locals and weren't always in the best areas. Jaco has a "gentleman's club" on the main strip, not sure if its open or not. There are several decent massage parlors in SJO; as well as the hotels you mention. Safe travels!

I will be at the Taormina in a couple weeks and will provide an update on my travels.

Will be staying at the Taormina. It's reputation is not as well known as I had worried. My question is about the massage parlors. I really enjoyed them and found some excellent talent there last time but it has been several years. Could I get the names and locals of the ones still open and maybe a report or two. Private message if you will be there in February and perhaps we could have a drink and compare notes on different countries.

I will be at the Taormina in a couple weeks and will provide an update on my travels.Jaco has a great club at the north end of the strip called G-Spot, was there in early December, plenty of action. Pick your dancer, there are VIP rooms upstairs where you can get all the extras at 200.

I fail to see what all this "shadow of its former self" is all about. I was just there in early December, 2 days in San Jose and the rest of the week in Jaco, had the time of my life. San Jose gringo area is not really a walking around type place, so 2 nights at sportsmans was fine. I had 4 gals in 2 nights, loved every one of them. I typically go for one a night, but the hot girls were there just sitting and waiting, so couldn't resist.

Jaco is much better cause its a beach town, and everything is all out in the open, you walk down the main strip and see all the clubs and massage parlors. Easy to go bar hopping with a wingman, all the clubs are back open. When I was there, there were lines (all girls! Guys go in right away) in front of Cocal (as always), LE Loft, and Orange pub. G-spot was a quick cab ride but worth it.

Maybe the previous posters hit Costa Rica post pandemic. To me the place has fully recovered, and since its "high season", the time to go is now.

An hour, they time it, and your sitting in a hotel room. So $150 for an evening walking around town, the beach, then back to the room is a bargain. An absolute 100% A++ bargain.

Looks like I'll be in SJ in a few weeks. I'm a bit picky with hotels, and have no interest in staying at the Taormina or Sportsmen. My question is this: Can I bring girls back to my own hotel via Uber from the bars at these two establishments? Or can they only stay with hotel guests?

Thanks, and I'll post reports from SJ and Jaco.

Thanks, and I'll post reports from SJ and Jaco. You may have two problems with this plan. First, getting into the SL or Taormina. Getting into the SL should be easier because they are checking for vax status so they can operate at 100% capacity. Taormina isn't so you may get turned away due to capacity issues. However, you'll probably get in.

The second issue is that most hotels in SJ are decidedly girl-unfriendly. If she's dressed inconspicuously (which she probably isn't if you've picked her up at the SL or Taormina), if you're quiet and nonchalant, if you don't have a parade of chicas going to your room all day, if the hotel has a bar you can go to first so that it's not so obvious, then you should be able to get her past the desk without getting hassled. Be prepared for it, though.

The other part of the question. Yes, the girls can leave those places and go to your place if they agree to that. They are totally independent of the establishments they work in.

www.hotelsantotomas.comThe Santo Tomas is a nice little hotel. The little pool area is nice for relaxing and is really the only pool in the gulch area. They also have a nice outdoor gym by the pool. Their guest policy has bee inconsistent in the past so I would verify by email before making your reservation. The neighborhood can be a bit sketchy after dark so plan on taxis or ubers to get around. This is a popular area for transgendered street walkers. Hotel Little Havana is a short walk down the hill and the Taormina is just about one block further.

Across the street you will find Bar Poas. It is a hangout for old expats and Ticos. Some women, mostly past their sell by date hang out there. You can find the occasional gem there but it is rare. They have decent food at a reasonable price and drink prices are decent. Next door to Poas is a very good, inexpensive Colombian restaurant. It isn't open very late but a good spot for lunch or an early dinner.

I was in San Jose the weekend of New Year's Eve, and then the next weekend before flying home. I sandwiched the week in between in Jaco, but I have no report for Jaco since I was with my family at that time. Made it into San Jose Thursday around noon. Sportsmen's let me check in early, which was nice. Set out by walking around San Jose. I went over to Pension Erotica, which is located off a tiny park at Calle 11 and Av. 14. When I was in San Jose four years ago, I nearly fell in love with a girl there. Needless to say, she was not working there anymore. They had only one girl and she was busy. Ducked my head into Pension Corte nearby. Only 2 girls, none was do-able. Went over to Monica's. Monica's was solid. 6-8 girls working, and a few good choices. In the few times I went over there, I saw the cutie pictured below most of the time. The other time I was there I saw a great Venezolana, but I don't have a picture of her. I poked my head in a few of the other pensions, but most were not that good. I did find a gem at Malibu, however. I think she was brand new to the job-- very shy. I really enjoyed my time with her on a couple of occasions. New Years Day before heading out to Jaco I went to Monica's, but they were closed. Right across the street is Pension Erotica 2, and I had an amazing time there. Really lucked out. They only cost 12,000 colones for a half hour, but they didn't have a shower. Sportsmen's was good. They upgraded the beds since I was there 4 years ago. Fewer girls than 4 years ago, but I was happy. See pic below of the 2 girls I did a 3-way with on New Years eve. For the second weekend, I stayed at Taormina. Room was not as nice as Sportsmen's. Most of the electrical outlets didn't work. I didn't like that they charged $10 to bring a girl up, even though I had a reservation for 2. More girls to choose from, though. However, the place has a little bit of a reputation that girls will try to scam you. Sure enough, one of the two girls I saw there tried to pull something. I nipped it in the bud early, and went ahead and fucked her rather than make a scene. She was absolutely gorgeous and her name was Karla, if you happen to run into her watch out. I ate at a gourmet restaurant right across the street from Taormina called Silvestri or something like that. It was amazing. All in all, not as jumping as when I was there 4 years ago, but I would say that Costa Rica is still a good mongering destination. I had another great time, and I look forward to going back again.

But, the $25 fee hurts. I can't wait to hear about Delray opening. As it will give a good starting point for us mongers, LOL.

Did not stay up late Friday night either. I basically would be at the Pension by 9 or 10 AM each day. Another girl at the Pensions in the afternoon, and then just one girl at night at Taormina or Sportsmens, where they are asking $100. Sorry, no news to report about the late night party. You had to buy a bracelet to get in / out. But after a while they were just letting anyone who was staying there in. Because the bars on the main level had to close at 11 or 12, it was not bad if you want to continue partying and hanging out. Also, I think the parties on the 4th floor are only on weekends, Friday and Saturday nights. I'm going to SJ for Super Bowl weekend and will stop by HDR to see what's going on. I hope they open soon and go back to their old glory days. I loved that place jajaja.

I'm planning a trip to San Jos in early February. In the past I've stayed at the Taormina and taken women to my room, but this time I booked a nice Airbnb just a couple blocks away. I was wondering about others' experiences meeting women at the Taormina or Del Rey and taking them to apartments in the area.

Are they comfortable with that? Do they ask for more money to go elsewhere? I would think they might feel safer in one of those two hotels where there is security in case a monger gets out of hand, etc.

Looked at the Del Rey website, and there's some mixed messages there. In the room selection, there's a "family room" option and the booking menu has a field for number of children. However, its gallery features many photos of parties with scantily clad women, and there's more of those on the home page than you see in a 2019 version of the website on the Wayback Machine.

Maybe it's just more half-baked than anything else. There's still references to the Key Largo and Del Mar restaurant, even though that building was sold to become a cultural center. It generally has an "under construction" feel to it.

Most of the girls in Taormina, Sportsmens, etc, will go to Airbnb's. Be careful with Airbnb's near the gulch. Owners know that a lot of gringos come to SJ for mongering and don't want it in their building. Some AirBnBs will have policies against it. If you're discreet and maybe give security una propina, you shouldn't have a problem. Another consideration is that security at places like the Taormina and the Sportsmens is there more for your protection than the girls' protection. Prostitution is 100% legal in Costa Rica. These girls have no shame when it comes to calling the cops. If one of them freaks out, gets angry at you for some perceived transgression, she will show absolutely zero hesitation in calling the cops. Not sure about your Spanish skills, but it will be your word against the girl's. I've used AirBnBs in San Jose before, but only for mi favoritas that I (somewhat) trust. I'm not saying AirBnBs should always be avoided. Just consider your risk profile carefully and decide if it's worth it for you.

If they are comfortable with you, they will be comfortable with going. I had an apartment in the gulch for several months and brought women there all the time, mostly from Del Rey but also from Sportsman, Little Havana, etc. , but I was well known. I never was asked for more money and would use that as a weed out criterion or red flag. Also I think the more Spanish you speak, the less hesitant they will be. I think you are making the right call if you've got some experience.

I know of one about 5 minutes from the Taormina. It advertises a view over the old zoo for a jungle feel. The owner made it clear I could bring guests. It has been often mentioned in this forum. I am just reinforcing the basic rule so that you cannot cry afterwards. Lock up all valuables. Do not trust any girl in this profession. Hotels offer extra level of protection with regard to checking cedula, calling you to make sure the lady is allowed to leave etc. Usually ladies do not make a ruckus in a hotel compared to apartments.

So be careful.

Any suggestions on Twitter names for ladies? In case I simply can not find what I want in the lobby. Also about how far is the Havana from the Taormina? Thanks. See you guys in mid February.I don't think Twitter is an alternative. You will need whatsapp if you want to communicate by text, once you get contact info from the ladies.

Little Havana bar is about a block from the Taormina.

Those are the exact reasons to stay in Taormina or SL, security and convenience. I had a problem with a girl for not completing our agreement. The front desk staff and a security came and kicked the girl out. She was banned from entering the hotel again. Free breakfast in the morning, room cleaning everyday. Are just some added comforts that you won't find in an Airbnb. Unless it is a long term stay, to me, the hotel makes a lot more sense in San Jose for our hobby.

Because the regulars there would have been banned long ago, along with a long list of other putas, if they were the types that caused problems. Not as fool proof as staying there, but a factor to consider. And yeah, there are a lot of trannies around that part of town. I lived between Little Havana and Bar Poá for four months and never had any problems with them. Walked around late at night drunk, etc. For one thing, they wear high heels and if you can't outrun some maricón con tacos altos, um I don't know what to tell you.

The Taormina doesn't screen the girls, at least not like the SL does. Also, never underestimate the volatility of a Latina puta. Everyone has their own risk profile. Airbnb have their advantages. Just be aware, you're on your own in a foreign country.

The girls are also checked when they enter the hotel.

Been going to San Jose and Jaco for 12 years. The SL and now the Taormina security have saved many a monger over the year. Plus its a great atmosphere at both places.

However, the Taormina doesn't screen the girl for reliability, thievery, stable behavior, etc. , like the SL does. The point is that picking a girl from the Taormina doesn't really reduce the risk of bad behavior in your Airbnb.

Gentlemen, a terribly simple yet terribly puzzling question. I know its easy to pick up the ladies at Del Rey or anywhere else at night. But what do you guys do if you want daytime action? What my 2 PM fix if I'm in the mood in San Jose?

What my 2 PM fix if I'm in the mood in San Jose?Del Rey has been closed for almost 2 years, but there are rumors it may reopen. In any case, Sportsmans and Taormina and Castillo are all daytime places as much as night time. Especially with early closings due to Covid. And the massage parlours / pensiones are only daytime. Read the forum in this section back a few pages and you will get lots of information on all of those options.

I knew Del Rey was closed but used that as a way to saying these chicks all come out at night. I had no idea they're all around these other spots during the day. Good to know! I also came across this site that you guys likely know about. Independent escorts post their ad here.

Hey Guys,

This was before I heard of ISG. Google photos randomly recommended the picture of the chica I had and I thought, why not make a post about it.

It was my very first time pay for play. I was very ashamed of it, I was not sold on the idea that "sex is just a commodity, just like we buy food, we buy sex. The only important thing is safety and respect toward the provider" I had attached some stupid moral stigma to the hobby.

It was pretty simple. I booked a room at Del Rey for $60. At night, it was packed with older married Indian IT guys from US who huddled in a group, US guys, Spanish speakers. What not. I was with a buddy, we felt very uncomfortable, we hung outside the hotel and pretended we did not stay there if anyone asked. We also pretended that we were not interested in the chicas. Toward the end, I saw this cutie with Indian Bindi on her forehead in a corner. She was 19, studying English but spoke no English and she said, the bindi was to attract Indian clientele. They were the most numerous and they, it seems, always book the same girl for the whole group and try to get a discount. Her mom was also in Del Rey (38 years) (hindsight -- should have had the mom too). She said the usual charge is $120. But I had just read the book "Never split the difference" by FBI negotiator Chris Voss and I got her down to $80. My buddy picked her friend, we paid the $7 fee to hotel and went up.

Quick shower, a bit of chit chat and then I came pretty quickly. Super nice body, she talked about her boyfriend and dreams and aspirations. She wanted to stay longer (I guess $80 is for whole night? Not sure yet) But, she had said earlier that she has a test coming up at school. So I rushed her. So she can go home and study. Stupid me! My buddy had it longer. But, he did not speak Spanish so there was no conversation. I still have her whatsapp number.

I will be in San Jose in a couple of weeks. Staying at the Taormina. Will report on any place you want. Send me a list of pensions, massage parlors, bars, or whatever and I will try to update everyone on what is happening. Maybe even an escort site. I want to try anal this time. Two girls in Cartagena offered it but after I was spent. Looking forward to providing info for my fellow mongers and, of course, getting fucked by a wide variety of hot babes. If you happen to be there, I have never met another monger, buy you a drink.

This parlor is on all the apps (Google Maps, Uber, etc.) and easy to find. Short walk from many sights and two of the main food markets. I stopped by at 10:15 am on a weekday and had a brief friendly chat with both the owner Robert and the lady working the cashier. There were 7 girls working at the time, but 5 were already in rooms. I didn't have time to wait for others to finish, so I had to choose between a thick girl or a young, short skinny darker tica with dyed red hair named Melissa. I chose Melissa.

I don't think Melissa speaks English, and all our conversing was in Spanish. She definitely wasn't the most enthusiastic about her job. Her BBBJ was a bit mechanical. I really liked her body though, and climaxing wasn't a problem. She told me afterwards that she'd been working three months and didn't really like sex work, but wants to save up some money.

Prices there are 16 mil colons for 30 minutes, 24 mil for 60 minutes. Extras like BBBJ or kissing are 6. 4 mil colons or $10 USD. When I left, there was one more girl hanging out downstairs, and she was too plump for my liking as well. I'd recommend to others to arrive at Monica's shortly after 9 am to beat the morning rush, or perhaps wait until later in the day.
