At that time of the morning, the traffic is pretty light but even then it will take you at least 40 minutes to the airport as it is quite some distance away. The ERL (Express Rail Link) takes less than half an hour leaving fron Sentral Station - but you have to get there first (10 minutes in the early morning) and the trains leave every 15 minutes (peak time) or 20 (off-peak). Is that an International flight? If you're on Malaysia Airlines/Cathay Pacific/Emirates(?) I believe you can check in at Sentral - but it has to be 2 hours before your flight.
You can check this website http://www.asiatravel.com/malaysia.html for hotel pricing. USD40 is slightly less than RM150. You'll probably want to be in the Bukit Bintang/KLCC vicinity to have the most options for our mutual hobby. Plenty of Spas and nearby the Beach Club/Thai Club area. For that pricing, you're looking at Hotels: Nova, Radius International, Holiday Villas, Bintang Warisan. I'd personally shift up a price band or two but that's me. There are plenty of other options and locations but I'm not so familiar. Frankly Concorde or Crown Regency might be better in terms of convenience and location for you. PM me before coming ar when you're here if you need help.

I have spent over ten combined years in SF Bay Area, Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis and Atlanta. My take is you will be much safer in KL than in any cities in US. The only real danger is the road traffic. [How did CNN did miss that piece of info?] Just be extra careful when crossing the streets of KL.

SUMMARY
* Bros MDII and Acerboy opted out at the last minute, probably due to the heavy thunderstorm.
* Overall action at Mercury was LAME – so, we adjourned to Crystal at about 7pm.
MINUTES
1. ARRIVAL. KL Guy was the first to arrive punctually at 5.30pm, whilst the rest of us trickled in by about 6.30pm, due to last minute office work and traffic jam caused by the thunderstorm.
