In fact, the girls will think you are a dim-witted chump if you don't 'work' on that first price offered, at least a little! GSR has it right here, and as someone else has commented on this thread, if you don't get the price you want, just walk away.

My God, boys, there must be 500 working girls between the streets and the bars in the Zona, and that's ON AN AVERAGE WEEK NIGHT! The Zona is designed to suck every damn dollar or peso out of your pocket before you head back across the border. EVERY DOLLAR. For Christ's sake do NOT make it easier for them for paying silly-ass prices for a romp. There are always more starfish in the sea if the price is over $60 in one of the top tier clubs, and much less elsewhere. And in the case of Tijuana, your next target is usually just a few feet away. She's already secretly watching you, and is quite ready to step right in if her 'sister' just blew it and priced herself out of the market.

First of all, the question "should I exchange dollars to pesos to save some money?" cannot be answered exactly, because it depends on many circumstances. I will break my thoughts into yes and no.

-No-

I would say that for first time mongers (or short-term mongering) , the exchange is not necessary because

1. You would not save too much for a (vaguely) short trip.

2. You are not familiar with the regular prices and the corresponding conversions

3. You would know exactly how much you pay when you deal with the familiar dollars

4. You don't have to be confused while carrying the coin pesos that waiters give out as change

5. If you use pesos, then you lose a bit of money if you exchange leftover pesos (assuming that your pocket isn't empty at the end) back to dollars

6. If you are down there with the purpose of blowing cash and getting wild without wanting to save a few bucks, then the exchange is NOT needed.

-Yes-

1. If you are familiar with the historical prices by mongering in Tijuana for quite some time, then negotiating the arriba prices in terms of pesos will save you at least a cost of your next beer.

2. If you know simple algebra (not the derivatives or the double triple integration area under the curve math) and if you like to check how much you have spent like me in between banging chicas, then there is no other greater feeling than the one you get from knowing that you saved a few bucks by using pesos.

3. When the exchange rate is really good (such as 13+ pesos to a dollar) , then you SHOULD use pesos because with simple algebra, you will notice a big difference in the savings.

4. This maybe only me, but psychologically it feels better to give the chicas "1000 pesos" instead of "80 dollars" because the number 1000 just seems nice compared to 80. Please don't taunt me for giving anyone 1000pesos. I only do that occasionally for my favs under circumstances. LOL.

You won't be "overcharged" for anything. You may make a bit, you may lose a bit, when you use pesos in the clubs. The clubs watch the Peso. Ollar rate like hawks and adjust the prices accordingly. But often you'll save a buck or two at the hotel. The key is the girls. You start at 600 pesos and grudgingly come up to 700. If they don't like it, forget her. Next!

Quick question, if I go eat street food (I love tacos!) and hit up local spots / vendors, do they all take dollars as well?

So I am living in Orange County after having spent some years in South America. I have grown tired of the sex prison of this country and need an escape. Long time since I wrote any meaningful report, here is my attempt at writing one for those who care to read.

Missed a chance to hangout with sbeach25 on 4/25, (and again today on 4/27 but see'es la vie) , but had to opportunity to head down on Friday to take care of 'business'

One of my lady friends introduced some really nice restaurants on the eastern most end of calle seis behind costco, actually they are restaurante mariscos and right next to them are fish markets, kind of like the tsukiji market places in tokyo, but alot smaller, and smellier.

But you guys get the point.

We ordered ceviche de camarones and 1 kg (2. 2 lbs) of grilled fish.

That was a lot of fish, but it tasted helluva good.

Many locals like to cross to go bargain shopping during the holidays. I would think Memorial Day would also be a nightmare.I have a sentri pass, my fellow wing mongers don't. We decided to cross at the Otey Mesa and the cross back took less than 15 min. Plus, if you are get lucky, you can park along the streets for free! Only downside is the flat rate from there to the zone is $18 but I talked down the cabbies there to $12. But well worth the less waiting in line. I highly recommend this if time is a factor. If not, enjoy the avg time of 1hr to 2 around 12 pm.

If this proposition is to become reality someday then the line at the border will be shorter. I read somewhere that when you travel by air then you already paid $12 as part of the ticket price for immigration / custom / agriculture inspections. Now with this proposal you would end up paying again to cross the land borders.

A fee to get back into the United States won't pass. Mexico already has a huge decline in tourism. Making the Americans pay to get to their country will just add to the aggravation of traveling to Mexico. Actually something like this can pass, but you can bet that Mexico will be completely against it as will many others. Also, what will happen to SENTRI and fast pass users? Will they get the privilege of not having to pay? If so, then you know everyone will apply for those benefits and SENTRI will end up as another long wait line.

By the way, anyone have a news link to this? I'd like to read it. I'd like to know just how much money is being pumped into border crossings.

The article doesn't state whether it would be for everyone, or just non USA citizens. I find it hard to understand how a government can charge it's own taxpaying citizens to enter their own country; what if you refuse to pay, they won't let you back in? It doesn't really make any sense.

Reciprocity is another issue as well, as Artisttyp mentioned. If the USA is charging Mexicans and Canadians to enter, then those respective countries may decide to charge Americans when entering Canada and Mexico. This is a horrible idea all around.

If this proposition is to become reality someday then the line at the border will be shorter. I read somewhere that when you travel by air then you already paid $12 as part of the ticket price for immigration / custom / agriculture inspections. Now with this proposal you would end up paying again to cross the land borders.

It's a lot simpler if the government just legalizes everything and imposes taxes on them. That way we would balance our budget in just a few years and no poor people get hurt economically.When I went to the United Kingdom a few years ago, England charged me both an entrance fee and an exit fee. Back in 1994 I paid $60 to English Customs to enter their country and when I left to come back to the United States I paid $40 to do that. It's amazing how I live in a city with such violence yet feel fairly safe there and when I went to Tijuana for the first time I was very worried. But after 2 visits and soon my third I have come to realize it's just a fear of a new place. But I have felt very safe in Tijuana. Even when I walked alone at night (which I will try not to push my luck on) But regardless I think bad things can happen anywhere at any time. Can't worry too much.

On another note, I am probably heading down there over Memorial day weekend. Does anyone know if there are any events that weekend? Or is anyone here going to be there as well? Apart from the typical HK, AB and TB, This trip my goal is to try a civvie bar (Pulgas or similar) and this Nikkis place I keep hearing about. Slowly I want to start exploring more and more of Tijuana. Until I eventually feel comfortable to do it all. Anyone have any other recommendations for a young semi newbie that can speak spanish fairly well to try?

I played hooky on Friday last and booked a room at Ticuan. Couldn't make it over the Internet, as I was too late.

Taking a tip from M. C. Hammer, I decided to check out CL-Tijuana. Wow. Lots to choose from. I wanted an "older" lady. Lots of cuties on CL-Tijuana, but some look a bit too young. Read the forum a bit, you'll find a well reviewed place, whose name escapes me right now, that I think has all the things you'd want for a few days like that, wifi, hot water that works, that sort of thing. But not walkable to the action.

RogerNever stayed in the Velario. The others you just show up and get a room. They're rarely full. The Hotel Caesar, more or less across the street from Espana, is of similar quality. Same thing, just show up and ask.

Headed down around 2pm and first stop was at BT because I wanted to meet a girl that Conezone (TJA) recommend. I was hanging with one of my favorite girls in Mexico. It wasn't long before super monger Artisttyp came along and joined us. Why the staff let them in the room was beyond both of us. Either way, thank you so much Diago for the kind act.

A bit later we all piled into Palace, which had a nice vibe to it. No mesero or chica hassles, and the music was decent. Somewhere during the night, I grabbed one of Artisttyp SG recommendations and played for a while in some room, not sure what shitty hotel it was. Later a few of us went in Gloria. I was looking for one of my girls, but she was not there. Then, this hottie sat near us, and I was like,"Hey, you must be lost and be in the wrong bar!" Bought her a drink and got her number. Texted her the next morning and got a returned text from some pissed off husband; oh well, I was in love for at least 30 minutes!

I am exploring out and trying new venues; because I'm forced to! But all is well and I can make the best of any situation; well trained in that respect.:D

I will be traveling solo for this trip as my work schedule is not allowing me the advance notice to purchase a resonable $$ last minute ticket out of Houston to my usual favorite monger destinations Colombia, Costa Rica and Peru, and I can't hold out for a scheduled San Salvador trip with friends in June.

I read thru Brockton Otool's guide and the reports of distinction. What I gathered is that it would probably work to my advantage to stay in Tijuana so as not to have to hassle with crossing back and forth to the states late at night. Lets face it, I'm there to party so, so I don't see myself leaving the bars and the chicas ealry just to get to a hotel in San Yisidro at a decent hour.

Is the Cascadas a better option than the AB's Coahuila hotel for overnight stays these days? Where do most of you participating in the sport stay at? I didn't find a lot of info / feedback about AB Coahuila hotel and Chicago hotel Levya for overnight stays. I'm leaning towards staying at the Cascadas above the HK, to be close to the action. I know I can bring back HK, LC, & Tropical girls here no problem, just not the AB girls. Does anyone know if there is a problem with any of the girls and agencies sending girls that I found on craigs lists coming to the HK Cascadas? And I assume SG's will have no qualms about going to the cascadas.

Also, I know that when I've been in Nuevo Laredo before, I was able to get US cell service without roaming just a few blocks in, where I was hanging out at. Is this the same in Tijuana? I am leaving early so I can hopefully have good look finding a decent parking spot at the San Ysidro border crossing. They can verify your stay with your hotel and they WILL get in touch with your hotel if need be.

I stay down here for a month at a time and always buy one. The good news is they last for 6 months and only cost around $24. I keep mine when I leave even though you are supposed to hand it back but that is almost impossible because you don't pass mexican immigrations before going back to the USA. The linea is different.

Hold onto it for your next trip if it is still valid. Cover your ass as much as you can and be ultra conservative. You can't go wrong.

RogerAmericans do not need to get their passport stamped nor do they need a Visa. The tourist card is only if you plan on being there for a long period of time. Canadians do have to have a tourist card even if it is for a short period. I am a dual national so I always claim I am an American and not a Canadian when I go there because of that. LOL Especially if you are a French Canadian from Quebec like my family is because they do not like Quebecers down there. LOL

RogerNo visa required, if you plan on being south of ensenada, or be within the Tijuana region for an extended period of time, better to get a tourist card, but seriously, no one is going to check you on that in Tijuana.

If you feel absolutely compelled, the oficina de gobermen right after you cross the turnstiles and down the stairs to the right will give it to you.

Just remember to pay the (roughly) 30 bux and get it stamped by a bank before heading back,

It would be foolish to think that you are immune to the visa rules. If you are here for longer than 72 hours you need a visa. Period. It cost less than $25. What's the issue? You never know what can happen to you in Tijuana. Its always better to be safe. I would be more concerned about members advocating to break the rules.

Real question is how will anyone know how long you have been in Tijuana? For all they know you just entered Mexico a few hours ago. It's not like they ever check people walking into Mexico and even if you drive in they rarely stop and check you. Even if they make a record of every license plate that goes through, that still doesn't mean it was you driving.

It would be foolish to think that you are immune to the visa rules. If you are here for longer than 72 hours you need a visa. Period. It cost less than $25. What's the issue? You never know what can happen to you in Tijuana. Its always better to be safe. I would be more concerned about members advocating to break the rules.I agree. Now I can recall what happened to me about 4 years ago. I entered Mexico by land from Guatemala. They Mexican immigration officer asked me to fill out a form. He did not say any thing about a visa fee. I did not know there was a visa fee. They gave me a part of that form back to me and mentioned something about a bank. I did not understand what he was talking about. Then after 2 weeks, when I went to Mexico City airport to check in for my Lufthansa flight, the agent refused to give me the boarding pass until I had paid the money at the bank. It took me about 2 hours to understand what was happening, to locate the bank at the airport, pay the money and get my boarding pass. When I asked the airline agent why I was the only person in the check in line had that problem. It appears that if you fly in to Mexico, this visa fee is included in the ticket and you don't have to pay when you are departing the country.

Reserved a room at the Ticuan and then made that exhausting 20 minute hike to the border for the holiday weekend. I decided to carry out my other favorite activities; drinking and eating. I decided to call in an another trooper, a x-HK girl, who got herself a regular job; I was proud of her.

She assured me she would be at the hotel at 4, and at 4 I got a text, she was in the lobby. I have not seen her for over a year, and she was dressed to please me. Hell, I almost didn't recognize her with her clothes on! We hung and played in the room for a couple of hours. We were hungry, so I called my buddies, Sal & wife, to come get us so we could get something to eat.

Sal was there within 20 minutes. He took us to this little Spanish restaurant called Paellas Tonico? It was really a neat place with a great staff. We had the traditional paella and it was good. Sunday afternoon in HK was slow and I decided to call in another trooper to drink and party with. Another x-mesera that I have not seen for about 6 months. The last time I saw her she trimmed down because of the lack of drinking fichas. She called when she was on station so I sent maricóand to fetch her. After getting a big bucket of beers, we were about to head to the room. But first, I needed a couple of big shots of Patron because I wanted to be numb during the upcoming activities. Hefty, Heftier, and I got to the room and it was game on. Beers were popped opened, clothes were flying off, and fat layers were free to move around! Both of the girls went down on me and rotated cock and balls accordingly.

I filled mine out when I was on the plane and apparently my fee was included in the plane ticket. I foolishly didn't even know what it was for and almost trashed it on my way back thinking it wasn't needed anymore. If I remember correctly, they don't check it when you land in Cancun, they check it at the airport when you're on your way back to the states.

I once drove all the way from LA to La Paz without one, with no problems. As Artisttyp said, you will only need it if the fuzz decide to fuck with you for some reason. So, in this day and age, it's better to waste $25 and CYA.

BTW, just to be a pedantic a-hole, it's really not a visa. You automatically get one if you're a citizen of a particular country, just by virtue of holding a passport. Others have to apply for a visa, pay, etc, etc. IMHO, it's a half-assed way to "keep track" of furriners running around the joint, and to extract a bit more money from them.

I haven't flown in to MX for years, but I believe they give you one of these to fill out before you land, just as in most other countries. I seem to recall them stapling it into my passport, but memory is too fuzzy. The point is, they don't have a good system in place to issue ones to people coming in from land crossings. So, you'll have to stop and get one.

So, came to Tijuana for a night after a very stressful week at work and thought I'd treat myself to a night in a decent hotel room and FS massage. So, got a room at the Pueblo Amigo and walked across to Luxor to see what they had. 4 girls walked out and. Hmmm. So, came to Tijuana for a night after a very stressful week at work and thought I'd treat myself to a night in a decent hotel room and FS massage. I know this isn't a food blog, so I'll keep it short.

Just wanted to report that I had dinner there on Friday and the food was as good, or better, than my last visit.

The 4-course tasting menu is some of the best food you'll likely encounter on either side of the border. At 400 pesos per person it's a helluva bargain. And the cocktails upstairs in Bar 20 are great. Interesting mixtures, top shelf booze, for 80 pesos.

One warning. They now have a specialty mescal cart they bring around before the appetizer. It's really good, but each shot averages 180 pesos (which they don't mention until the bill arrives). So you can double your dinner tab in short order. It may be reasonable for high end mescal, I don't know. It did taste pretty good!

First, have to give props to M C Hammer, member of this august board, for tipping me off to CL.

Anyway, for kicks one day I started fishing around. Started looking for some MILF-ish ladies who were looking for a good time and a bit of extra dough. Didn't take long and got several responses.

All in all, a pretty good weekend. Tijuana is never boring if you do it right. And how great is this newfangled thing they call the Internet? (texts) I have ATT and we even check our TXTs and calls from the past week when I get in the Zona. I used to write long (for txt msgs) but now just quick notes. Not really sure what that means but it says to keep them to less than 70 characters when using them.

I played around with my iphone and already have character counting for text messaging set to on. This means that when I write a text message it counts to 160 and lets me know if I go over that limit. But what I noticed this time around is that once I add special characters such as "íéü" the character count changes to 70 instead of being 160. So I guess this means that if I use those type of characters (half-width alphanumeric) in my text messages I'm limited to 70 letters instead of 160. So now I will avoid those characters. Incidentally, ñ doesn't count as a half-width alphanumeric.

Hopefully someone can test and verify this.

I just booked my 2nd trip to Tijuana. Labor Day weekend. I also wanted to book another trip in the fall. When is it a good time to go in the fall. Say October or November. Sorry for the lateness of this report. I have been feeling a bit ill since I got back. I went to Tijuana on June 8. I had a fairly fun time. I did have some trouble getting there and back. I was just about to turn off of I-8 to go on the San Ysidro Boulevard exit and my check engine light came on. I was hoping this was not a bad omen of things to come. Since I was quite close to where I was going to park I decided to wait on it. I drove down San Ysidro Boulevard and I was going to park at the Holiday Lodge because a friend of mine from a different board told me that this was the best parking spot if you were planning on staying for more than 10 hours. In the past I have always used UETA and one time that parking spot next to the Mexican Insurance sales and peso exchange. I have always liked UETA but my friend told me that the Holiday was better because you did not have to go over the freeway on the walking bridge coming and going. I wanted to try it to see if he was right but when I got there that parking lot was completely full. I was concerned because the first time I went to Tijuana I remember I had a hell of a time finding a parking spot as literally every spot was taken but this time it was not quite that bad. Since that spot was not available I drove to my old reliable UETA parking lot and had no problems getting a spot. This time when I got out they had pedicabs next to it giving rides for $3. 50 a piece so I decided to try that. It was not bad. I therefore avoided the long walk on the walking bridge. I got into Mexico and found a cab driver who spoke perfect English and had no problems getting to Adelita's. He was an interesting fellow because when he asked me where I was from and I told him Arizona he immediately reminded me that Arizona used to be part of Mexico. He then went into some long talk about how Mexico was the first country that the United States decided to invade. I did not realize that the Mexicans still had animosity about the Mexican-American war which happened over 150 years ago. He did though acknowledge it was not my fault since I was not there at the time. I then told him that I was actually of French Canadian ancestry so my ancestors were from France and we were not even in the United States when it happened. LOL. He was an interesting cab driver.

I had decided to stay at Hotel Coahuila this time because of my had experience at Cascadas last time. Cascadas has also raised its rates so it is not that great a deal anymore. Hotel Coahuila is $20 cheaper per night. I did discover why it was cheaper. I had never read this on this board or any other board but Hotel Coahuila does not have AC. It was blistering hot last Saturday and it was like a Sauna in my room. Otherwise my room was very good. So at this point I guess I would say that Hotel Coahuila is good if you are coming there in the winter. If you are going to Tijuana on a hot summer day it is not the place. I am going to have to look around to find a better place that has AC for my summer adventures.

After I freshened up I went to action first going to Adelitas. Adelitas at this time did not have too many girls working so I went in there had a bottle of water and left. I then went into HK. HK had a lot more talent. HK kind of made me mad though because the messeros kept on bringing girls to me even when I did not ask. I just wanted to sit down for a while and view the field but they would not leave me alone. They kept on trying to sell me fichas and privados. HK is becoming more like Nogales clubs now. They will not even let you relax. While I was in HK I met a friend from a different board that I had conversed with for quite some time but we had never actually met. We talked for a while and met a few ladies. I told him I spoke French and he right away responded in French. I was shocked as I thought I would never find a person in the country of Mexico that spoke French. He was a really cool cab driver. Caesar's was pretty good. I was a bit underdressed wearing a Van Halen T-Shirt and a pair of shorts. No one had told me that it was a formal place with tuxedoed waiters. They did not seem to mind though. I ordered the salad and it was kind of cool to watch them make it right in front of me. The salad was very good. The final bill was $10. 17 which was maybe a bit high for Mexico but it was still pretty good. I caught a taxi back to the zona and then found my friend again and we hung out for a while in Las Chavellas. Not too much going on in there. After this I went back to my room and rested for a while.

I got up and then went back to Adelita's. Still not very many girls and none were that great looking but a girl named Sandra came up to me and literally sat down next to me, unzipped my pants and pulled it out and started to give me a HJ right there. Sandra was not a super model by any means. She was maybe a little overweight but I thought to myself that any girl that is brave enough to walk up to a man she has never seen and do that deserves a chance. I bought her a drink and then we went to my room for only $60. What Sandra does not have in looks she definitely makes up in skill! I got up at 5 am and I was shocked to find that the girls were still dancing at Adelitas and HK and there were still girls on the street. I swear, Tijuana never slows down! I went into HK and sat at the stage and watched a few girls and tipped them for a bit. I was feeling ill though so I decided finally to leave at about 9 am. I caught a ride to the San Ysidro border crossing where I had to wait 2 hours in line in the heat feeling ill. This time I had no troubles coming into the states. The border guy just asked me what I was bringing back and I said nothing and he waived me through. I then got back to my car and my check engine light was still on so I decided that I better find out if I had a car problem that was so serious that I had better not risk driving back to Phoenix or if I could safely wait. I pulled into an AutoZone and discovered that in California the AutoZones can not legally pull check engine codes. I could not believe it. They said only a certified mechanic could do it. I did not want to pay a mechanic to pull the code as I know a few mechanics in Phoenix that will fix my car in their garage fairly cheaply so I decided to risk and drive back. I had to drive clear to Yuma which obviously is in Arizona so I could legally get an AutoZone to pull the code to find out I was having a transmission issue. After they pulled the code and I found this out I pulled by transmission dip stick and found that my transmission fluid was black and smelled burnt. I guess driving in all of those mountain ranges in California and around Yuma was hard on my transmission. I was able to get my car back to Phoenix by driving with the overdrive turned off at the recommendation of my mechanic friend. When I got to Phoenix I went to my mechanic friend and he looked at it and said that I had not wrecked the transmission but I was close to doing it. All I needed was to do a transmission fluid flush which cost me $300. This trip ended up being a bit more expensive because of that but I guess it could have been worse if I would have wrecked the transmission. Not sure why you Californians do not allow people to check their engines in AutoZones. LOL I guess the moral of the story is to not use overdrive when you are driving through the mountainous areas. LOL

Also, a funny thing happened when I got home. The next day I did not have to work so I decided to hit a local strip club here in Phoenix (Bandaid's for anyone here from the Phoenix area). I got a dancer to come up to me who spoke English with a heaving Spanish accent and I asked here where she was from and guess what. She was from Tijuana! She told me that she had danced at Chicago Club before. She asked me if I wanted a private dance and I then asked her if I got one if she would give it to me "Tijuana style" as I had told her I had just gotten back from Tijuana. She said sure and we went into the VIP area and I got a hand job during her dance. She gave me her phone number and told me that I do not need to go to Tijuana anymore because all I need to do is call her and she will do everything the Tijuana girls do to me here in Phoenix. It was an interesting ending to my experience.

There's not really a bad time to go during the Fall actually. It does depend on your perspective on crowds, whether you like them or want to avoid them. Since you're already making a trip during Labor Day weekend, I suspect you aren't bothered by crowds. During the Fall is the Mexican Independence Day, which is Sept. 16th (not May 5th as most Americans tend to believe) , I personally like the activity and excitement on the streets during that time.

Same goes for October, the Halloween parties in the Zona bars can be fun if you like crowds. It really is a personal preference, if you don't like crowds, plan your trip for mid-week days.

Another thing to consider, Fall is Football season, check out the Chargers schedule and see if they're playing a team you like in San Diego.

Spent the B-Day weekend in Tijuana. While driving through lovely San Ysidro. I found a place where the rate was 12. 43 to 1, so I cashed in a butt-load of dollars.

I stayed in the Ticuan. Not sure what is fucking happening with the prices at Ticuan, but when I stayed there two weeks ago, the inner suite on Friday and Saturday had an internet rate of 900 pesos. I just returned from there Sunday, and the internet rate was 1000 pesos per night! Is it because of all the bible thumpers are there trying to save the poor souls in Tijuana? Or the bus load of medical patients that I always see there? Either way, it's not a good thing.

It was Artisttyp's last weekend there so we hung out and just enjoyed what La Coahuila had to offer. Dude, can't thank you enough for the B-Day dinner at Nikki's. Company was good, but your singing needs some work to say the least! My brain cells are at a minimum, but I'm sure we hung with Guitarrfreak on Friday night at least. If I recall, he stopped by and found me at Bar Gloria while I was in my prime, buying fichas for 3-4 chicas at a time. I think I had a good time.

I reached in and pulled out a few dollars and handed it to him, and he said,"No, it is $18 dollars." My response was,"Are you out of your fucking mind? I can buy that whole bottle for $18 dollars! Here's $5 dollars, please take it and go away!" The new squeeze and I retired to the Ticuan in order to properly introduce ourselves.

New stomping grounds: LC and Bar Gloria are now consuming my time and money. Yes, the meseros / meseras are just as pesty as the ones in HK. There are some HK girls now working at LC, I ran into a few of them the past few weeks. Bar Gloria is just a different type of place. Usually, I'm the only Gringo in the place, and I'm good with that.

I just booked my 2nd trip to Tijuana. Labor Day weekend. I also wanted to book another trip in the fall. When is it a good time to go in the fall. Say October or November. My concern is that the talent won't be that great because the girls start to leave for the holidays. Any suggestions. There's not really a bad time to go during the Fall actually. It does depend on your perspective on crowds, whether you like them or want to avoid them. Since you're already making a trip during Labor Day weekend, I suspect you aren't bothered by crowds. During the Fall is the Mexican Independence Day, which is Sept. 16th (not May 5th as most Americans tend to believe) , I personally like the activity and excitement on the streets during that time...

For land crossings, yes, it's a "trust system." I once drove all the way from LA to La Paz without one, with no problems. As Artisttyp said, you will only need it if the fuzz decide to fuck with you for some reason. So, in this day and age, it's better to waste $25 and CYA.

The point is, they don't have a good system in place to issue ones to people coming in from land crossings. So, you'll have to stop and get one.Apparently this is so because I went in my car again and was never stopped or asked for any permit while crossing into mexico, driving around Tijuana or crossing back into the US. I also noticed the large amount of California license plates happily driving around Tijuana over there which only proves that most of you telling me I was crazy to drive my own car into Tijuana where obviously over exaggerating. My novia at one point even cut off a cop car then kept driving and they didn't do anything and she didn't care as well. That was funny and scary at the same time :)

Just got into Tijuana last night for my second trip in less that 3 weeks. I stayed at Ticuan (hitting up an escort from MLB for a TLN for the first time) and damn, it's a very nice hotel. !Sounds like you had a blast TomJack. I've been monitoring the exchange rate lately and the dollar has been gaining strength. So far the best place that I have seen to get pesos is the one next to the McDonalds on the US side. As of last Sat, I saw it at 12. 54 to buy pesos. All others are slightly lower. The worst is at the zone and the shopping mall.

You're confusing the car permit with the tourist card although you won't be asked for either driving around Tijuas.
