What time this happened to you?
You said Morning, is this mean very early like 4-7 am?
Between 2:30am to 3am is when the incident took place.
I live in OC, and arrived at my casa in the morning hours...that is what I meant when I said, "Just got back..."
The policia were hard-up. Never experienced such nonsense in the 20 plus years I have been frequenting TJ. I have paid bribes in the past, however, this recent experience was much more thorough, detailed, and aggressive in nature.
I have mongered in Mexicali, Nogales and Algodones for 5 years. The last time I was in TJ was 30 years ago. I had planned on making my first trip to TJ in many years in July. I read the forum and had some excellent input from questions I asked on the forum. Now I'm a little afraid and don't want to deal with these types of hassels. I have not been to Mexicali for a month. I wonder if it is having similar problems. Thanks for all the info and take care and be careful.

i have been stopped only once in tj, too. this happened two years ago at the stoplight you reach before entering the plaza before the walking bridge over the tj "river."
i got patted down and my wallet searched.
i was told during this time of year cops can be dangerous.
is this election time again? i remember there was an election this time 2 years ago in early july when i got stopped.
this is also the same time of year when that woman from iowa (?) got "raped" by the tj cops.

i am going to TJ tomorrow afternoon and was wondering about foot traffic back on Mondays. My last time down there it was really busy and they told me that Mondays are always busy during the afternoon.
i will be leaving Tj by 3pm. Will it be wise to go to Otay crossing if I need to be back in the US by 4pm?

It looks to me like after the drug clean up, they need to get money from someone else!

To be honest, and I spend a lot of time in TJ, it is not likely that the drug cleanup and rousting a "tourist" at 2:30 am are related. The cops roust people at that time anyway and always have. And I doubt the cops are looking for individuals walking the streets to supplement the money they used to get from the drug cartels. The cops have bigger fish to fry than tourist. Yes, they do take people's money and accept bribes, but there is no connection between the big money they can get from cartels and day-to-day rousting.
Besides, there are plenty of people still paying off the cops in TJ. Sitting and waiting for tourist would not be logical for them to do to make up for the lose of big money. These guys have other ways to get paid and plenty of people willing to pay them.

I agree and have always thought it was the 'bottom feeders' who happen to know enough English to get by with these petty rip off tactics. The big boys in the force wouldn't bother.
That being said it is these few 'bottom feeders' who give the whole town the bad reputation. Word spreads fast around the world each time someone is ripped off in TJ.
What would be the rate of return (of lost tourist $$)? How about for every dollar they steal from a gringo the city loses $500 to a thousand. Word travels fast and tourists don't soon forget. A pleasant trip ending in an armed extortion robbery leaves a bad taste in the mouth and shitty karma on a city.

Don't forget Montreal and Toronto. If you are located on the northern East Coast, Montreal is an easy drive or flight, and the ladies are fine, fine, fine.
I can blow my load just thinking about them.
Luxury hotels in downtown Montreal are inexpensive by U.S. standards. Since the hotels are fairly concentrated, it is even reasonable to use Priceline for hotel reservations. I stayed in the executive section of the Hilton on my last trip for $80.00 USD.
The prices for the ladies are reasonable, too. And it is legal (outcall; other venues are illegal but tolerated).
Now, I'm going to TJ next weekend (the opportunity is there, and I love latinas). I plan to connect with 3 or 4 escorts, which I have never done in TJ before. I'm staying in a five star (yeah, I'll see) business hotel in Zona Rio, and I don't know if I'll hit the bars or street girls (bullshit, of course I will).

I agree in part, but remember they're the small cops , they don't get the big fish like the ones in charge, they have a lousy salary, and any money is good money big or small, remember the Acapulco bribe to American Tourists, when they told the weren't getting paid ?
I agree, I don't think the cops are after us, but when they see an idiot with cash and drunk "no offense to anyone", and walking back home, this guy makes a perfect target for a bribe, Mordida.

Tijuana is an experience. The Zona Norte is the Disneyland of mongering (at least in this region) and if you love latinas, then this place will do just fine.
If you are cashed up, then maybe CR or SA is better suited. I have to admit than living next to a candy store is an advantage, but then again many guys come from back East to "experience" the sights, sounds and especially the smells of Tijuana.
Tijuana is not everyone's cup of tea. But it gets the job done and depending on your game, you can enjoy the experience to the max. You just need to be cool.
Concerning the cops, there is no major difference in their behavior now over a few years ago. They still use the same MO and they still luck out whenever they can corner a gringo who can't hold his own and doesn't know what to do. The cops don't bother me anymore and they sure don't fuck with my girlie. I understand that they can be intimidating however and that catches a lot of gringos off-guard. It's tough to find the right balance between being polite but firm.
The only time the cops will club you over the head and drag you off is when you are resisting, are drunk, have a weapon etc. They can't take you in for being a gringo. Just don;t have wads of cash when you return, that will reduce your chances of being robbed. Be low key and don't go straying outside the Zona. It's just like the USA, if the cops see you in a bad area, they're going to talk to you because maybe you are a bad person. If you are in the zona and are behaving you'll be fine.
If you do have money, clutch it in your hand when you are searched. If the cop wants to examine the money, then count it out in front of the cop. Ask them for their name, turn the tables and interrogate them. Ask them what station they are assined to etc. If YOU start questioning THEM, they'll know something is up.
Anyhow, if you are used to SEA, SA, or DR you'll probably not find your trip to TJ to be anything special. But if you do come, PLAN.

I went to Zona Norte with a wingman after 10 pm. I liked the new layout at Adelitas. Adelitas is brighter and has more usable areas. The talent level was high on Friday night late. The club was full but not cramped. 15-20 of the girls were doing lots of business, and there were others that weren't taking any guys, and most were getting just a little business. Sunday night was significantly slower with fewer girls and customers. Sunday around 1 am as the place seemed to be closing up, 2-3 hotties at a time would pole dance and partially strip.
We stopped in to Chicago where seasoned mongers were kept company by older girls who sat with them, smiling all the while, and making them feel good. A few of the girls were really being entertained and enjoyed this, but most would occasionally look away and give some sort of look like they were putting up with this because it's their job.
We thought about going into Hong Kong, but they wanted a $7 entrance fee which includes one cheap beer. We passed. The alley was well lit and had many attractive girls. We both had a great time taking girls from Adelitas and the Alley. I think it helped that my friend bought girls drinks and talked with them in English for a while before going up. All the girls seemed a bit nicer this trip. The real mercenary types seemed to be missing from Adelitas.
The ads above the urinals in Adelitas say to take a Yellow Cab for your safety. The ads on the rear windows of the Yellow Cabs support Hank for Gobernador. During the Sunday night cab ride we encountered traffic, so the cabbie dropped us off at the place where one walks across two walkways. He pitched a fit because I wouldn't tip him above the $5 I pay Yellow Cabbies. There were no immigration lines Friday night and Sunday night around 2 am. The car line looked like 2 hours. Friday night we were shaken down by 5 policia behind the trees near the bottom of the walkways. I had less than $10 and kept it in my hand. My friend had little over a hundred in his wallet. We were absolutely sober and did not lose any money.

When you use the bridge you can walk down the ramp that puts you way North of their usual hang out. They don't even notice you as they are facing South waiting on the gringos pouring out of taxis'.
Tropical is another good spot.

It's been a while since I have been down south so I decided to stay overnight. I arrived on Tuesday and left on Wednesday. It was pretty slow both days I was there.
First, I want to talk about the accomodations. I know some people like the Hacienda de Santiago in the Zona, so I stayed there. The price was reasonable. $37 dollars with a $3 dollar deposit for the key.
The room was very spacious and it included a kichenette. the location couldn't be better with a short block walk to a/b, chicago and the rest of the clubs. It was very clean and the staff was very helpful, including an offer to get a girl for me if I wanted. I declined but at least I knew it was girl friendly.
The problem I had with this hotel is that I'am a light sleeper, and the noise all around kept me up longer than I wanted. I didn't even realize how many planes take off from Tj airport in the middle of the night until I stayed here. I have stayed at the Pueblo Amigo before and I didn't hear any planes then.
The hotel also doesn't have a/c, just a fan. It was warm even at night so I had the windows open just to get some kind of breeze. With the windows open, the outside noise became even louder. Plus the drunks yelling in the streets didn't help.
I don't want to turn people off to this hotel. Just an objective observation from a light sleeper. I know cj recommended the Pacifico hotel, next time I can stay overnight, I will try there. If I have a girl with me, and not stay on a weekend, I will probably end up at La Masion.
Now for the girl reports. I went first to a/b, and it was pretty slow over there. There were the lookers there, but they looked more like the trophy pucks, so I passed.
Walked over to L/c to see if one of my favorites were there. No luck today. Not many lookers so had a drink and headed over to H/k. Not like a Saturday night but there were a few good looking women. I would say for every 5 big girls, there would be one good looking one. Unfortunately, the good looking ones were with somebody.
Off to t/b where I have been having luck the past few times I have been there. Today, I didn't recognize one girl and most were just average looking. Boy, have I become mister picky of late. She then went into the inside area where you can sit and eat your tacos and started to talk with the cook.
I didn't want to lose an opportunity, so I asked her for her name. She said it was Karina. She is a morena, cute face with a body I very much like, thin, with curves. Anyways I asked her why she shot me down inside c/c.. She told me it was because she wasn't working tonight and was just at the club to have a drink. Day 2 next....
After a very restless sleep, I got up around 10:30 a.m.. I showered and shaved and was thinking about what to do in the early part of the day since most clubs don't start going until after 2:00. This was from past experiences.
I left the hotel around 11:30 and walked up Revolution to the atm to withdraw some money. In Tj, I perfer to have pesos rather than dollars. It seems to last a bit longer.
After the atm, I decided to have lunch at a place I haven't been to in a long time. It's a restaurant that's called La Chuleta. In my opinion, its the best carne asada in Tj. They had renovated the place since I have last been. The tacos were just as good as I remember. They do make their own tortillas there. Why I haven't been there in such a long time? It is a bit far from the Zona. If anyone wants to know how to get there, drop me an pm.
'With a full stomach, I head back to La zona. I actually go into the sports book in the alley and spend about an hour there. After all was said and done, I made about $2.00 on my horse racing bets. From there, I walk over to h/k. I couldn't believe it, there were at least 20 girls inside and it was only 1:30 pm.. Most were pretty big, but one did catch my eye. Her name is Natasha. Pretty morena, thin about 5'4.
I buy her a drink and ask her if she wants to go the hotel. She said she doesn't go to the hotel but would give me special treatment in the vip room. I took a taxi libre to the border. With the meter running, it came out to $30mx. I know it only dollars we are talking about, but I just hate being ripped off by the yellow taxis.
On a side note, I got to the border at 9:10. There was a line about 25 to30 yards out the door. I thought for sure at this time at night it would be quick and easy, especially for a Wednesday night. But noooo! By the time I got out it was 9:40. In the past I usually leave between 10 and 11 and the lines are almost none existance.

Great report! I can't say as I know Karina at CC but most will tell you they arrive 1 or 2 hours before they actually do and it can very up to 2 hours from day to day. You should have gone back around 9pm and if she wasn't there most likely she didn't cum.
What upset me the most is when they went for my wallet first, and started counting what monies I had in it.Here is what I have been doing to minimize my risk during a typical Zona Norte trip:
I created a special TJ wallet that contains COPIES of my drivers license, auto registration, car and health insurance information. All of these items are easily duplicated and replaced if lost. I also carry an emergency credit card that I can easily cancel, just in case the car breaks down. No sense carrying a bunch of valuables you don't need in the Zona Norte.
Before my trip I obtain as much cash as I think I'm going to spend, plus a $200 reserve. I carry no $50 or $100 bills, and I make sure that I have a good supply of small bills. Do this at a safe ATM in the United States, the better to avoid the muggers and scamsters that lurk near ATMs in Tijuana.
Before I park on the U.S. side of the border I pocket my drivers license and leave $100 in the wallet. Then I hide it in the car someplace where a smash-and-grab guy wouldn't think to look. You don't want to do this right after you park, in case somebody is observing from afar.
When I walk into Mexico I am carrying only my drivers license, my fun money, and $100 in reserve. I have the money divided up into several pockets, so that I make small purchases without waving around a big bankroll.
My buddy Mr. Wood often enjoys the company of his pal Victor during our visits to the Zona Norte. But I buy it in advance and carry only a single dose. In my view the chance of getting stopped and searched by the police is almost zero in the pedestrian plaza headed south, or at the yellow taxi stand. So I'm comfortable carrying my little blue pill there. I always take a yellow taxi to the Zona Norte. I realize I might save a little by walking over to the competing cabs, but I prefer the most direct route to the Zona Norte.
In the Zona Norte I spend as little time on the street as possible and I stay clear of those places where the choke hold muggers have been reported in the past. (Avenida Constitucion, south of The Alley, especially on the east side, and the street that leads toward the bridge.)
When I'm walking between clubs I give a wide berth to anybody who tries to approach me. That way the police cannot use my interaction with a local (whether it be accidental, or a setup by somebody working with them) to justify stopping me on "suspicion of buying drugs."
As the evening wears on I retire occasionally to a stall in the mens room to rearrange my money so that it remains easily accessible but largely invisible to anybody else. When it's time to take my Vitamin V, I am similarly discreet.
For my trip home, I get in the nearest taxi. Again, any small savings that I may realize by looking for another cab is not worth spending the additional time on the street. During the ride I count and consolidate my remaining cash into a neat roll that I get easily extract from my pocket. Generally, I have about $100 on me, mostly in smaller bills. I put my drivers license in the same pocket. Ideally, I use a shirt pocket for this stash.
I don't think there is anything to be gained by alighting anywhere other than the usual taxi drop off point "cerca de Sentri." In my opinion the police have all approaches to the pedestrian inspection building under surveillance, so you might as well try to get lost in the crowd walking north. I always take care getting out of the taxi. The pavement there is uneven, and the taxis often stop very close to the curb, which makes it awkward to get onto the sidewalk. You don't want to look sloppy drunk. First, it gives the police a pretext to stop you. Second, I think the police target drunk guys because they think they are more compliant.
If I am stopped by the police, I carefully remove my cash and license from my pocket. I say "carefully" because even though it's clearly a shakedown and the officers have no reason to fear you, cops are still cops and they get nervous when people go fishing around in their pockets.
I hand my license to the officer, WHILE KEEPING MY CASH IN HAND. If you are polite and cooperative, this move will seem totally natural. At this point if I'm ordered to "assume the position," my pockets will be empty. If the cops want to take my money, they will literally have to demand that I hand it over. It's been my experience that they won't do that.
Sometimes the officers will ask why I don't have a wallet. If I'm feeling snarky I'll say I'm worried about street crime. If not, I'll just shrug. Even though I speak some Spanish I always claim that I don't. That gives me a small advantage in that the officers are not using their mother tongue and I can understand some of what they say to each other.
Worst case scenario is that I encounter totally corrupt cops who brazenly steal my money without any pretext that I've committed an offense. But in more than 15 years of visits that has never happened. And even if it did the loss of $100 or so wouldn't trouble me. I'd return to my car somewhat irked, but not otherwise inconvenienced. I'd still have my license and enough money back at the car to pay for parking and a late night burrito de carne asada at Roberto's.

i don't know guys, but i guess i've been lucky. haven't been shaken down yet. i also have cut back my tj runs to almost never--only twice this year. i only pass through the sd area now. when i was on the verge of divorce and living in san diego, tj was almost 2x a week adventure for me.
fri. afternoon amigo and i went down around 2pm. cops on the street peek at you and size you up. i could almost read their minds, as they say to themselves,"we'll talk later".
we walked revolution and stopped in 3 strip clubs. obviously too early for that, and the waiter pulling a slight of hand trick on my friends $20 bill pissed him off. waiter said he only gave a single. i dragged amigo out of there after we fixed that problem (rather loudly) before policia get invovled. on to zona norte.
chicago club continues to disappoint me. what's going on with the place? only a few older girls there, and the place just makes me want to go home. tropical bar (thanks country john) was actually better, although when i walked in i felt like i made a big mistake. tropical is not like andelitas. only tijano music and lots of mexican hombres that give you that look when you walk in. the women look like moms and sisters only having a good time, but they are working too.

And just to take off on a tangent for a second, I saw a friend on my last trip who has started carrying a sort of black trash bag instead of a purse. She calls it her "bag bag." She said purse snatching was becoming so rampant she had to stop carrying one, and that nobody would bother snatching a trash bag. Also, she insisted that it's now best to carry one's cell phone inside the waistband, or in a pocket.
A lot of us here probably don't carry a purse, but I know I now think twice before I bring my cell phone.

I decided to head down early to celebrate the fourth in the land of fucky/sucky. Traffic was wide open. I expected it to be rather empty in TJ this holiday, both because it's a family-type holiday and being in the middle of the week. I arrived around 1:00 p.m. and got a yellow cab in front the farmacia. The cab was a newer mini van and probably the nicest cab I've seen in TJ. The driver was a young guy who spoke English well. I got in the front seat and asked him to take me to the Arch on .Revolución He immediately tries to the old routine of finding girls for me or a massage parlor. My story in these situations, is to say I'm meeting my friends at the Arch. I repeat that about three times before he gets the idea.
So, we're heading up the on ramp onto the highway or overpass when we merge into a small pickup truck. I don't know whose fault it was, it is surely an art to drive in Tijuana, but at any rate the guy who bumped into us never flinches or looks our way but simply zooms ahead. My taxi driver is pissed. So, he steps on the gas and surges forward on the shoulder of the road catching up to the truck. He then purposely merges sideways into the truck. Both cars lock together. We all get out and both drivers are immediately on their cell phones. Twenty seconds later, the police are there. Two lanes of traffic are blocked, you can imagine the chaos. I flag down a passing Libre Taxi and hop in, leaving that mess behind.
I get dropped at Primera and Revolución and notice there are policemen at the substation at Plaza Santa Cecilia. I walk down Constitución, things are barely getting started, not many girls around at all. I get a room in the alley and get settled in. I walk back up to Revolución and Second to get some cash at HSBC Bank ATM and then back to Constitución stopping at Farmacia Nacional to get some Sico brand condoms. They're thin and strong. I make the rounds down Constitución and Callejon Coahuila (the alley) and notice that most of my regulars and friends are not around. I do see Miss Cariñoso standing in front of Bar La Capirucha. She works out of Hotel Mini and is one of my all time favorites. She's looking at her cell phone and shuts it as I walk up. I ask her to show me whatever photo she had been looking at on her phone. Really, that was my first mistake, stopping at Adelita Bar. My second mistake was letting Ana Maria de México City sit down and order a fiche. She's young, very light skin, has a pretty face, but a bit of a belly. She doesn't speak a word of Inglés, but is all smiles and giggles and touchy-feely from the get go. Her story is a typical one, had a kid six months ago, the father bailed out, and now here she is working in Tropical Bar. Her name was Mira or Mirea. She's warm and friendly. We have a couple beers, kiss as much as I can get away with (her lips were so soft), and then I bailout. Kind of what I call a reverse fiche fuck. You know, get as much from her at the table as I can in a short period of time and then leave without going arriba. She had such a cute face that I did get a Polaroid for my collection. After spending that money at AB, I didn't want to waste another $50-60 bucks plus the room fee on her. I looked at my watch, told her I was meeting a friend and had to leave. So we left on good terms, but frankly, there are better deals to be had in the Alley where I already have a room.

Next time you enter TJ to head to Revolucion Avenue, watch where the locals go to get there. Once you forego all the taxis waiting to play out, walk past on continue to find the buses headed the same way.
But it costs nothing to make the twenty minute to Revolucion: it's the walkway before you approach the taxis heading to a bridge. Ask those caballeros.
I remember them costing me fifty cents in their currency or more coins in dollars.
Also, if you have patience, the taxis waiting to return back to "La Frontera" should cost a dollar roughly depending on the time you're leaving. The Special taxis, I suppose this means the reserves, cost five dollars.
Don't forget to hop in Senor Frogs restaurant while you're there. By the way, are the massage parlors still prevalent? I preferred only to frequent those cathouses than the usual Adelita deal. pricier but less mileages on the younger girls.

Had business in San deigo so I dropped over. I was surprised. The girls I thought were as good as anywhere. I have no idea where they got the idea that they should keep thier top on. Sin Ropa is needed almost as much as chupla sin condom.

THANK YOU for what seems to be an honest comparison between CR and TJ. Sorry that you got fucked on your money, things are slow in TJ and have been for a while. I fear the slow trend will continue for a while until TJ stabalizes somewhat and there is NO estimate on when (if ever) that might be.
Mongers MUST be dialed in when in the Zona in order to keep from getting ripped off. The maseros THRIVE on ripping you, it's a game for them. They laugh about it. They don't care if you up and walk out. Another gringo will be there in five minutes to take your place.
Their short-sightedness prevents them from believing that there is a long term affect on the customer base by their bad behavior. They believe that they must turn up the heat ont he customers that DO show up in order to make up for lost revenue because of the ones that DON't show up. So it's "every man for himself."

When you use the bridge you can walk down the ramp that puts you way North of their usual hang out. They don't even notice you as they are facing South waiting on the gringos pouring out of taxis'.FYI, I have used the bridge on occasion to avoid the polica at the sentri taxi drop off, however the policia do patrol the bridge on occasion. I walked on the bridge (must've been around 2-3am) and saw two TJ cops shaking down two guys, midway dark section of the bridge... I quickly walked past them. Got to the end of the bridge and as NE suggests, take the stairs N. past the cops (I believe there are two stairs leading down).
Just wanted to write up a quick report, nothing much to say so far so I'll just keep this short and sweet. I'm in TJ right now and will probably be here until Friday or so, then it's off to Ensenada. Hit up Adelitas today, looks more like an American Sports Bar than the last time I was in there, which was about 4 years ago or so. The hustle is still the same though. Watched the stage show, talked to a couple chicas for a few minutes until I got hit up for drinks downed my beer, and left. Spend about 2 hrs of my life there in total that I'll never get back. I wake up at about 12:30AM and contemplate leaving her sleeping for Coahuila, but I do not and go back to sleep.
The next day starts with breakfast. Take a cab this time. We do walk to the Plaza again for some drinks. Go back to Progresso for a few more of my favorite beers. Diana drinks Baileys and milk. Diana wants to go to The Copa Cabaña to see a friend. We go but her friend is sick upstairs. Diana leaves me at the bar to go upstairs and visit her. I tell her to take a picture. We decide to stop by the church to pray for each others souls. We go and we pray. Afterwards we decide to get a local room with porn. I suggest the Hotel next to Pollo Bar.
We go but walk apart. On the way I see Hector outside Playboy. He said he just rented an apartment and offered it for the rest of the day. We go there instead and kick it with him for awhile. I was down in San Diego for a business trip the week of 7/9 through 7/14. Luckily for me I was able to work part-time some days and not at all other days. So I ended up spending quite a bit of time in TJ. As usual all of the informaiton I learned here is helpful in getting the most out of a TJ trip.
I got down to San Diego in the early evening on 7/9. After working some time I headed down to TJ for the evening. I catch a cab and feel better when I check into the hotel (rooms early) so I can leave some cash in the room. This hotel is very nice. I would not bring a chica here but the staff and rooms are great. They also have a caliente racebook on-site. I end up doing very bad at the book today and head out to AB around 5:00 or so. In CC I do't find anything so I keep loooking. I was pretty drunk and bought a few more dances in HK. I end up with a chica from AB for $50 that was not memorable but did take 30m to finish. I end up right when the knock comes.
On Friday I did very well at the racebook. I have about 2h between before the night races at Hollywood park start so I head over to the pharmacy. I pay a cab and tell him to wait for me and I will give him a tip when we get to AB. He leaves me after I pay him $5. I had to get another cab to AB. Oh well. I watch a few trip shows and then I see that nicoline is dancing. I get a seat at the far bar. She eventually sees me and comes over to dance. She comes over right away and I can feel a little sweat on her back from dancing. While in AB I see this old man in the back booths. He has around 12 chicas at his table the whole 45m I am there. She tells me he comes in every week or so and pays for all of those chicas to hang out with him. He may be 60 or so. He must spend a ton as they are all drinking. I have not seen him before. He is there when I leave.
The report performance with Nicoline is better than Thursday. I pay for a 1h room as she promised great service for entire time and would earn a bigger tip today. The last thing I learned on this trip is that the caliente books have a bus you can take each way. It stops right across the border by the circle driveway next to the trolley. It also gets back across the border fast and you will miss the police. I didn't use it but another american told me about it. You have to buy a voucher to bet but I don't know if you have to bet or can just cash it in. I will probably do this next trip in September.
I will probably give bar tropical a try again. I was wishing I just tried a chica to see the difference. I usually want to not waste any of my precious time/loads while in TJ though.

Bring your own Trojan condoms; stay away from the cheaper brands like Durex, Shiek, etc. I've had Durex break on me with a girlfriend before. Herpes contraction can be limited by never eating any of the girls out or french kissing them on the mouth. Also look over their genital area as well before jumping in. Some of the SGs and BGs carry STDs; I've posted some reports about it in the CC section back in March. Check out the Street Walker section also. A health card system does exist but you can't rely on that.

I don't want to spit in anyone's soup, but sex with protitutes is dangerous. It's one thing to look for signs of trouble but it's quite another to actually know what you are looking for.
There is no hard and fast rule except that the risk is very very high. Good condoms do much to prevent the spread of STD's but before you lose your innocence, you should lose your ignorance and study up. Google it and look at pictures. Get educated. Good luck.

I have been with over 30 women in TJ and 20 girlfriends/one night stands in the U.S. I've always worn a condom in TJ and until last trip hadn't DATY a TJ woman. (not so safe sex with U.S. women) I been tested recently and will be again soon. I have never caught any STD in my life. (knock on wood) The new AIDS/HIV test is even better because you don't have to develop antibodies to detect it.
However ANYTIME you have sex, STD's are possibilities. Especially with professionals. I have friends in porn and though tested monthly, I think the risk is higher due to no condom and outside interests.

The cabbies love to take you to the Purple Rain and Amnesia on Revolution. They are clip joints with below average strippers and expensive lap dances. How they survive next to Hong Kong and Adelita is a surprise to me.
Purple rain would be a good example of how a clip joint works. Another would be Pollo Club in the Zona. each hustle you in, fuck you hard for drinks, try to rip you off and don't care if they ever see you again.

You didn't have to boil your clothes and sheets. Just put them in the washing machine, use a lot of detergent put it on the long rinse cycle and select to use hot water.

I almost got stranded in tijuana! I went yesterday for some fun, but when I returned to the border I was told I was not going to be allowed to cross. I was almost going to freak out.
I got to the inspection point and showed the guy my drivers license. He quickly glanced at it but he was obviously more interested on me since he kept looking me over. Then he said, "declare your citizenship." I didn't know what that meant so I was like, "what was that?" Looked me over again and said, "what's your citizenship?" I told him I wasn't a citizen. Said I was a resident. So he asked me for my residence(green) card. I told him I didn't have it. He told me I couldn't cross without my residence card. I was about to freak out. Of course I holding back. So I started telling him that I had never heard anything about needing a residence card and all the other times I've passed that they've never asked me for one either. This was the first time I've ever been asked to show it.
I told him, "Why do you need it anyways? My ID should be enough." He has a surprised look on his face and says, "they never asked you for it?" I'm like, "yeah!" He looks it over again. Asks me where I live. I tell him, "its the address on the id card." He asks me how far that is from here so I tell him the exact amount of miles I got reading my odometer. It's exactly 130 miles. Guess he wanted to test me to see if it was a fake id or something. It's not.
I then tell him, "I should have just told you I was a citizen and you would have just let me through huh?" He says, "yeah but then you'd be detained because you didn't have your residence card and for making a false statement." I said, "uh-huh." I really doubt they would have checked. He tells me I have two choices. I can wait back in tj for someone to bring me my Residence card or pay a fee waiver of something like almost $300 dollars. Then he also says, "you can make a fuss if you like that they need your residence card." Not really sure why he told me that.
But I can't tell anyone that I am in TJ. Or to go pick up my card and drive the 130 miles just to deliver it. So I tell him I have no choice but to pay the fee waiver. So I asked him if I could pay with my credit card. He said I could. Then he wrote something on a small orange receipt and put in the notes section that I didn't have my INS card. stickied it to my id, handed it back and pointed to the baggage claim guys and said to take it to them.
As I walked to them, I realized I passed the check point and I could just easily walk on by instead of giving them the receipt. I really wanted to. Its not like they where waiting for me or I was sent through some special aisle that leads to them. I was just passing by like any other person that had already passed the check point. But I decided not to at the last minute. I hand them my id and receipt. They start questioning me, "why don't you have your resident card." So the conversation starts all over about how I've never been asked for one, always passed through before just with my ID alone. The whole bit. I told the lady there, "my id should be enough." And she says, " your Id only says who you are and that you can drive. but you still need your residence card" I say, "I know but I can't even get a drivers license without a residence card so its not like I don't have one."
I'm about to freak out. The guy holding my drivers license asks me what I want to do. I told him I'll do the thing of pay the waiver. He starts to walk away from the table so I followed him then he says, that he doesnt know how paying the waiver its handled since he's never been to that part of the office. So he tells me, "just go through this door and make a right and you'll find an office that will make you sign some papers and take care of it for you." I ask him, "does this take long." He says, "I don't know how long it takes."
He points to the door I'm supposed to go through. It leads to the outside where the cars are passing by and the doorhas signs that read, "this is not an exit." I went through the door, looked around outside puzzled by what I saw. It just led to outside. I could see the signs that said, entrance to the 5 and 805 freeways. I look back inside the check point at the guy which was already back to doing his job. So I walk out. To make a right, I had to squeeze next to a trash can and follow the little path which quickly ended. A huge fence was next to me and I was basically walking on the entrance to the freeways. I followed the fence all the way and somehow ended up back in the USA. I could see the McDonalds and the long bridge entrance to TJ. I never found any office. Either I really took a wrong turn or the guy had pity on me and decided to let me go but through a different way as to not let others think he was letting me off. I then realized that I wasn't even carrying my credit card and I had already wasted every cent back in tj, so even if I was to pay for the waiver, I had no money to do so. I just started laughing as I walked back to my car.
Mental note. *Next time bring your residence card* lol
None of the over-the-counter lice treatments work. I had to get a prescription drug from my doctor who babbled about my predicament to anyone who would listen. I wanted to kick the asshole in his balls.You don't need to kick him in the balls; you needed to report him to the medical examiners board. Confidentiality is sacred in the medical profession. I think but I’m not sure, there are legal ramifications, certainly civil, of doctors divulging the medical condition of their patients. Anyone out there who knows for sure?

I know what the knits are like. I used to have them on my head as a little kid. Unless you encountered some new kind of breed, the eggs do stick but they only stick where the mother lice layed them. And thats only on hair. I've never encountered them being layed on the skin. With the way skin is constantly moving, they will end up falling off if they where layed on the skin. The same goes for lice cause they cannot hold on to the skin. Their hands are made to hold on to hair. Andlice do not like hair bare hair. They will only stick around if its bushy hair where they can hide. Something like arm hair, they won't make a home into unless you constantly wear long sleeves.
So who was this classy Beverly Hill lady? How does one even get in contact with a classy Beverly Hills lady? And did you tell her afterwards that she gave you lice?

Lice are tough creatures. I doubt you can drown them. They would probably be happy with the water you give them.
I would never wanna be infested with crab lice again. No girls are worth the cost of these 3rd-world hygiene problems, which I got from a classy model in Beverly Hills.

The only times I've caught crabs were in the USA and from civillians for the most part. Had them maybe 3 times in my life. Not a fun thing but if you catch them in time they are much less bothersome and easier to get RID of.

Mainly the posts by Efjayel and One Wing Low. I remember this one time in elementary school, the nurse's office was performing checks of all the kid's heads for lice. After the nurse checked my head, she told another nurse that nothing could survive on my head; my mom always kept my scalp and hair highly moisturized. And it's the classy bevery hills model types that'll give ya the shits, huh. I should say "was" classy. I've dated some real hot model types and some of them do get around. Bad part about me having lice as a kid was that they did do routine check ups on us kids. Once they found it on me, I was told to stay home until I got rid of them. Not sure how it happened but one time, when I was sent home and had returned lice free, all the other kids knew why I was gone. Lice! That definitely wasn't fun D:

I recall that when they did the routine lice checks at school, there where nurses that used something similar to chopsticks and latex gloves to touch our hair. And where even very careful while doing so. But there was this one other nurse who was really cool and obviously un-afraid cause I recall she would check my head with her bare hands. She obviously knew that lice don't stick to bare skin.
This is actually kind of disgusting to mention but I used to play and experiment with the lice I had. So I learned a lot about them from doing so. lol.
Popping them was fun too. They basically have like a bag on their back that holds all the blood they drink. When you pop them, it spreads everywhere!

I remember those days. there was really no helping it. They were out there espcxially in grade school. We'd get checked often and if positive, we went home with a note to mom.
Mom was great about it, she explained that it was nothing to be ashamed of and that getting rid of them was just a routine, no big deal.
She'd scrub, scratch and comb for hours. with three brothers and two sisters in school, she (and the school) had her hands full.
It's not the "kiss of death" by any means. They are little animals and they can be gotten rid of.
It's the STDs you need to be on the lookout for. There's no going back from some of them. Be safe.

btw, I still believe you could have completely eliminated the problem by trimming your crotch really low. I use a #3 trimmer or even better would have been if you had simply shaved it all off. I recommend you start trimming.
I do it cause I used to be very bushy. First time you trim, it's really itchy. But then it goes away. Plus mowing the hedge looks more appealing to the ladies. second time i went, i decided to walk through tj and reach the arc myself. didn't seem that far plus it was in the morning at about 10am. i didn't find it dangerous in the least bit. there was tourist and small shops all along the way. in brockton's guide he makes it seem like the path is mostly dark alleys and scary streets. it wasn't. i found it rather safe walking through. i still heeded his warnings though because i took the path back at about 5pm(didn't want to take it at night) when the sun was still out and i found it no different than the morning except that there where a lot more tourists walking the path going into and leaving tj. which if anything made it more safe.
next time i went, i did the same thing, walked to tj during the day, but this time took the path back to the border even later like about 7pm when the sun was going down. still full of tourist although not as many. also seemed pretty safe. only part that got me worried was the entrance to the bridge where there where some guards or cops something standing around, thinking they might stop me and shake me down. although they didn't. i kept walking on the bridge and stopped half-way to watch a fireworks show that was going on due to a speech from a city official. only danger i saw was getting mugged from either a tourist walking into tj or some of the little kids trying to sell me gum. i doubt either will mug me.

Has anyone tried walking the path back to the border during the night? And is it as dangerous as Brockton says?Some years ago, the route from the border to the arch was really dumpy. There wasn't much around and it was a pretty bad stretch. Then they built that whole tourist "mall" thing that's mostly empty, and the pedestrian "walkway" after the bridge but before the arch. That seems to have cleaned up things pretty well. The ickiest spot is the bridge, and not just because of the smell.
I've walked it many times during the day, both directions, and it's pretty safe. I've even walked it several times during the night, as late as about 11:00pm. It seemed pretty safe, because there was nobody around. However, last year, I was shaken down by a group of TJ's finest, right in the middle of the bridge. They didn't get anything because I didn't have a dime on me. (I'd mis-judged expenses and given my last $20 to a nice SG, but that's another story).
So, lesson learned. A lone gringo at night is a prime target for the TJPD when on the bridge. It's taxis for me at night from now on. But, if it weren't for them, I might still be walking it.

Maybe you got lucky, some are adventurous, i have done this with no problem, only because I was lucky and the Policia was messing with other dudes, although there is a chance if you read the posts, you may be harrassed at the bridge.
I have not walked across in years, mostly drive after picking up insurance., and stay in TJ.
I normally do not get harassed, have been going here for many years, since at least the middle 60's. But there have been times some scary, just as long as you keep your kool and be smart you should be o.k.
In most of these reports most incidents are during the night time, although it can happen during the day.
Anyway enjoy trips have a good time and be kool.

We saw a few drunks passed out on the way but no policias to be found. We reached the immigration booth without any incidents. I'm not sure I would do it alone though.
All right then, I'll take the bridge only during the day and avoid at night. Just got to make sure I have an extra five bucks for a cab.

I used to sleep int he car all the time when I was on the road. Too lazy to check into a hotel and all I needed was a "power nap." State-side should be fine but NEVER in Mexico. The parking lot should be safe enough.
Hit the Zona today for a walk-about with my girley. Sure was slow. Hardly any gringo traffic and the girls were agressive. Noticably absent were the usual crew of street hustlers. Ever since the cameras went online a lot of things have changed.
One thing that hasn't changed is some of the old time walkers. I saw one that was known for superb BBBJTCIM back in th day a few years ago. She was a bit on the ugly side a few years ago but she was a deal at $20 and would do the right thing. Now, she looks very vary bad. The dope wrecked her big-time.
There is also a new bar next to the ice-cream store one door down towards Tropa. Beers are cheap and you can hook up with your girley there. The manager will even send out for a street girl for you and her beers are $2.00 if she'll have one. I'll spend some time there and report back.

This report took place a week ago but I just found the time to write it. Because of work commitments I wasn't able to visit Tj until this past weekend. First stop, L/c.. I wanted to see if Alexa, the girl I wrote in my last report was still there. I sat down, had a drink and left after an hour without ever seeing Alexa. While I was there, they had a live band playing. I know they have had bands before, but it seemed like they would only play for a half hour or so. Well, they were playing before I arrived and they were still playing after I left. Not sure if L/c is moving towards live music all the time.
After walking out of L/c, I cross the street to T/b. I will write the rest of my report in that section.

my qustion relates to getting a hotel room in TJ. myself and a friend of mine plan on doing a few escorts each day for 3 days. we also will do the clubs too but i like the GFE experience (real or faked...lol) and from reading the board it is hit or miss in the TJ clubs. i thought it would be best to get a hotel room in the TJ area that is girl friendly instead of the two of us paying for a few hours in a room each time. we do have a hotel reservation in san diego and plan on keeping that because my friend is not comfortable staying in TJ. do you guys have any suggestions?

Why is that? If anything it would of seem like they are the male prostitutes trying to get business. By the looks of these beer bellied guys, I somehow doubt they are anything but musicians. So exactly what are these guys doing there and waiting for? Trying to get hired as musicians for parties or something?

The Mariachis are professional musicians that hang out to get hired for events. Similar to Plaza De Mariachi in guadalajara and elsewhere. They pass their cards out to passers by and sometimes guys drive into the area of the Policia Casita and have a group play a few songs for their girlie in the car.

It was meant factually, not as an insult. Talking with ones I know, they routinely refer to themselves as putas and prostitutes. But I agree they would take great offense at a stranger calling them the same.
On another occasion, I was walking with the same street girl. We walked out onto Constitucion from the Alley on a slow Sunday night. My dear street girl friend raises up her arms and yells out at the top of her lungs "Las Putas!!!" Of course, the girls all knew her very well and the laughter and howls went up and down the street.

donnieboth hotels are similar. they have the standard motel 6 feel, a double bed, a fan, a small bathroom with shower. they seem to be pretty clean. they never seem to have enough towels (pet peeve).
if memory serves, the weekday rate is something like $20 - $25. the weekend rate is $35. there is a $5 deposit for the room key, which you'll get back when you check out.
they're situated up revolucion, "about mid-way" if you know what i mean. i can't remember the cross-street number, but you can't miss either one. both are within easy walking distance to the zona. it's easiest to cut over to constitucion, then walk north(?). should take about 10 minutes if you walk really slowly.
cesar's has a fringe benefit (sort of). they have an attached strip joint where the girls will dance on the bar and hound you to buy a bj. no clue of the pricing, cuz the last time i was there the ladies were really skanky. but that was last year sometime, and rather early in the evening. maybe things get better, later. maybe one can do take-out to your room. i think somebody should investigate this! :-)

I went to la zona yesterday ( Sunday ). First stop, l/c. Its weird, they have been lacking in talent for a while now. No one there I wanted to take up so I went to h/k.
The talent there wasn't all that great either, but better than l/c. I spotted a cute chica and invited her over for a drink. Her name was Xochi (sp ). She was pretty enough, and nice enough, but she said she was on her period and couldn't go to the hotel. I told her I would be back next week. She was fun downstairs, does anyone have any intel on her upstairs?
After h/k, I went to t/b. I saw Zugeey but she was with another customer. Her friend came over to me and said I should wait an hour and she would be free. Yeah, right. Zugeey is a fun girl but I was too horney to wait and there were a couple of other girls that looked doable.

One note, taking the taxi back to the border. Not sure if this is a new thing or not but it seems the taxis are dropping off their fares at the top of the hill near the bridge for the autos, not dropping off near the pedestrian bridge. It is a little further and a little darker, but seemed safe enough. Did not see any police there or by the ped bridge.

The 5 fwy and 805 fwy will be shut down near the border on labor day weekend, not sure for how long, something about a large protest of mongers at the border, maybe its regarding the high prices at AB or the pushy waiters LOL!

I am not going down but I think it might be okay to walk across the border.
The other day during the shutdown the radio stations reported that traffic coming OUT of TJ (cars and foot traffic) was not affected. it was only car traffic going INTO TJ.
My assumption is that either way traveling on foot will not be a problem.
The best bet then is to take the trolley down and walk back and forth.
But since more people than usual will be doing what i just advised anyway, the line will be long. That is why I am waiting until Tuesday to go to TJ again.
My plan is to check out Latin Big Butt Maids no. 4 from the video store and buy some hand lotion and wait until Tuesday. Just kidding.

Just read this week in the New York Times that the US Federal Government wants to close the pedestrian bridge across the I-5 in San Ysidro. This is obviously on the US side of the border, and the reasons they give for the possible closure are: (1) violence, particularly at night, and (2) smugglers using the bridge as an observation post. If you look carefully, you can see many of the car booths, which inspector is working at what booth etc. as well as the secondary insepction area from the bridge.
I know that this forum usually deals with more exciting topics than this one, but if that bridge closes it will cause traffic CHAOS in San Ysidro, for those who are trying to park and walk across. The reason is that all the pedestrian traffic coming out of the inspection station or parking on the east side of I-5 and trying to get to the pedestrial turnstiles will now have to walk north and then cross I-5 on San Ysidro blvd., which is already pretty busy on the weekends.
There are easy fixes to the problems identified above (like security guards on the bridge at night and mounting opaque plastic up on sides of the bridge to prevent people from seeing over the sides. However, in a post 9/11 world, why would the government want to do anything reasonable like that? It's easier to inconvenience everybody in the name of "homeland security".
If this does happen, the best thing to do (IMHO) if you are parking and walking across will be to park further west in San Ysidro and then make the hike, therby avoiding driving through that mess while looking for parking. Hope it never happens, as that border crossing is already a big mess and this is just one more thing to deal with there.

if the bridge were closed, I would also consider parking elsewhere in SD and then taking the trolley. Parking in San Ysidro is dangerous if you are leaving late at night. It is a bit unsafe to be walking around San Ysidro alone, especially if you are a good ways from the border.
And this Labor day weekend, as I said, it seems parking elsewhere and taking the trolley is the only real option as the demonstrations will probably cause the auto traffic into TJ to be halted, which will also cause delays along the highway south most likely.

I've never seen anyone standing on the bridge, there's a few Security guards

I was approached a few months back by some strung out drug addict on a mountain bike; he followed for about half the length of the bridge. He really started to annoy me and became angry when I didn't give him money. In the right place, I would have flattened him. Also there's cameras all along the bridge.
The alternative to the bridge is as follows. When you exit the freeway at camino de la plaza; instead of making a left onto camino de la plaza, drive straight across the intersection. You'll see parking lots on the right-hand side where you can park for a reasonable fee. After parking, simply walk along the the sidewalk east-bound. You'll eventually see the pedestrian bridge/stairway "exit" and then the turnstiles; at which point you can proceed as usual.

And by the way, the reason there are guards on the bridge is because people ARE using the bridge for illegal purposes. Which leads to the second point:
2. People standing on the bridge staring at the crossing beneath are not just sightseeing! Those guys are spotters! The feds know this and are getting more and more concerned about the illegal traffic at the busiest entry point into the US!
I mean tell me any other place where you can just stand right above the place where vehicles pulled aside are being searched. Some of these guys are seeing whether the "mule" really made it across the border or not; whether the mule just stole the drugs or guns and claimed to have gotten searched, etc.
These guys are watching to see how many agents are on lunch break etc., so they can take advantage of the situation.
I remember seeing a Mexican stand in the line one day and just make a mad dash across the border through the side door when he saw the guard not looking. Somehow he KNEW there were no agents in the back and made it into the US!
3. Plus people do get robbed on the bridge because it is a highly congested, narrow place where victims have nowhere to go.
All of this is a danger to our safety.

Even though I've never had a problem on the bridge in nearly 10 years of crossing it (it helps when you're 250 and only 10% bodyfat) everything this man says is the truth, especially about people hanging out on the bridge for no apparent reason (the truth is that they're there for a reason, and that reason is probably you). I can't say it's as dangerous as the footbridge leading into town, but one still has to watch his ass.

My third trip to TJ. I brought a couple of amigos. We went to Adelitas but it was standing room only. It was so crowded that I decided to go look for a street girl. I decided to take Michelle from Najera. She has a pretty face but I saw her belly, thought I could give it a try. I negotiated 30 bucks for 30 minutes, para todo. I was planning another TJ trip but I was wonder how's the heat in the zona
especially in AB, those dam hotel rooms can get 100F inside.

Stayed overnight in tj this past Sunday into Monday. Arrived around 6:00 pm. Sunday night and went straight to my favorite upscaled steak house, Cheripan. It was good as ever.
After dinner, took a cab back to the zona for $3.50 usd.. When you take a taxi libre and they actually use the meter, taxis are pretty cheap down there.
First stop l/c.. Hopping for new girls, since last week there was nothing that excited me. Bad news. Still no new talent there. I didn't stay, just took a walk around. From there I went in order and will write in the separate thread, h/k, t/b then back to h/k.
Side note, I stayed at the hotel pueblo amigo. It's a nice hotel, a former holiday inn. The area around the hotel is pretty nice also. Last time I stayed at the Santiago in the zona, and although close to the action. I couldn't get any sleep because of all the noise all night long. I paid $75.00 usd using my aarp discount. Yes, I guess I'am considered a senior now. ( lol ).
After getting a good nights sleep, I check out around 10:30. From the hotel I walk to the border. I get to the border around 10:45 and it took me about 5 minutes to get past immigration.
I get to my car and can't find my keys. Think, think, think. I must have left them at the hotel. Mind you, because I stayed only one night, I just had a backpack. Anyways, I walk back to the hotel, and thankfully the keys were in the room.
I walk back to the border and now there is line that starts right at the door way leading into the customs building. It took about 25 minutes to get across. At the border, timing is everything.
My plan for today go to the gym, do some shopping, then back to the zona for a final blowout.
I get back to the zona around 6:00pm and it is hotter than yesterday. My plan of attack is pretty much the same as yesterday, h/k, l/c,tb then maybe back to h/k.

How do you get to monger so much having a wife? I wonder what percentage of us mongers have wives. I'm unmarried and single at the moment but I may get married one day. I thought marriage was about two people having exclusive access to only each other. All input is welcome on this.

yeah i'm sure a high percentage of the mongers in tj are married men. seems like it. i really doubt i'd be mongering if i had a girlfriend and even less so if i was married. not saying that those who are married are being unfaithful jerks. i'm not in their shoes so i can't really be one to judge. but for me personally, i wouldn't do it. cheating is not only being unfaithful to my significant other but to myself. i'd feel worse about myself than my partner if i was unfaithful.

I'm not pointing a finger at anyone, judging or anything like that man. I'm one who goes 0% or 100%. I'm up for mongering and fucking as many women as possible, here and abroad. So why would I or anyone else want to marry with that lifestyle in mind. Do you know what I mean? I assume just stay single(unmarried), then I don't have to worry about being loyal to anyone. Mongering is a HOBBY, not an solution for a failing marriage or other relationship. There are LOTS of guys doing this who just want to have sex with young girls for whatever reason.
In mongering, you pay not for the sex, but for walking away afterward. When you add up the cost of a date when all you really want is to have good sex, then mongering is the best route.
Safety, of course, is a major concern, but it is also a concern int he civilian world. Always use a condom.

Myself and a buddy of mine visited TJ a few times the week before Labor Day. We stayed in San Diego and also got two rooms at the Pueblo Amigo for two days. I had decided to do it this way mainly because my friend was not comfortable staying in TJ. He wanted to drive back to San Diego every night or morning which made no sense to me but I conceeded and we kept a room in the states as well.
The Pueblo Amigo was a decent hotel as far as I was concerned. The staff was very friendly and the room was decent. I was not looking for a five star experience there. I wanted a place that was girl friendly, clean room, working plumbing, clean towels and sheets and NO BUGS. Although it is not a short walk to the main strip or from the border, it isn't very far either. We walked to the hotel from the border and from the main club area. The walk from the club area was "interesting" to say the least and provided a good look at the locals and the landscape. Crossing the "crap river" was the worst part. I had never smelled such terrible moving liquid posing as water. We did meet some really cute local ladies along the way and stopped to chat with our limited Spanish a couple of times. I would NOT do it at night either direction and would heed the advice of the board and take a cab.

One of the planned activities on our visit to TJ was to experience some of the escort services. As I mentioned before, we had rooms in TJ so we did not get to see the usual escort hotel. If I'm not mistaken the main one, La Mansion, is like cabana and is very nice! I will try that place at least once next time to get some detailed information and maybe be helpful to someone else.

I do intend to stay single for a while; I like it that way. I'm not loyal to anyone: no time and/or no place. The hookers I bang can be dropped at anytime for no good reason. Intended to make it a short day on Friday and head down earl. Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans...

Today was my first trip ever to TJ. I used the guide in the TJ thread as a resource and it was right on the money, kudos to the person who posted it.
I'm use to doing all of my mongering activities in the car and the whole TJ scene was all-new to me. Instead of driving into Mexico I parked on the US side (as suggested in the guide) and walked across the boarder to the taxis. I paid the driver $5 once we arrived at Adelitas and decided to walk around to check out the scenery first.
I was honestly in the market for a Street Girl (in the Alley) since the price is cheaper plus you don’t have to waste time and money on drinks for yourself and girls in the clubs. I turned right outside of Adelitas, made the next right down the road and BAM. Girls everywhere. It was honestly a bit overwhelming; I wanted to screw each and every one of them (with the exception of a few). I turned down "the alley" and it was exactly what I imagine Thailand would be like, a row of girls on both sides of the streets wearing their hooker outfits and fuck-me-boots. It's always best to set a price before getting into the cab. I usually hand the cabbie a $5 bill and just get into the cab; they tell him where to go. By handing him a $5 at the outset, I effectively open and close the deal. But you've have to be very careful with some of the cabbies in TJ. I buddy of mine got ripped off a couple years back; I wasn't with him but it's a long story. Anyways, he paid the cabbie with a $50 bill and didn't receive his change. And it ended with the police showing up and taking his entire payday($900) or he would have went to jail. It's a shady town.
That's why I always take smaller denomination bills. Nothing over a $20 dollar bill. And I only use the $20's for paying the chicas and the hotel attendant. Never the waiters, taxi's or anyone else. Sometimes I'll pay the waiter a $10 bill but I make sure they bring me back change. I'll tip them a dollar.
I don't know if the chicas carry money with them, I doubt it so I make sure I have just the exact change when I pay them off.

I'm heading down Tuesday or Wednesday, which day has yet to be determined. I like to go as early as possible so as to get there in the early afternoon. That way there is time for a decent meal, a legit massage (Viva Mex) and of course several mongering sorties. This takes more than a few hours and I like to leave before it gets too late. Greyhound has a few buses between LA and TJ everyday. Check it out. You can probably take a bus from SB to LA, change bus and get off in TJ.
Or you can take the Amtrak to SD, probably faster.

I wasn't there but I've heard the story a couple of times. Well, it was about 2.5 years ago; one of my wrestling buddies was partying in TJ with a few of his friends. At the time, he was working at Petco Park and had just got paid/I think it was a friday night. The group took a cab to a dance club/I don't know which one though. When they get out of the cab, my buddy gave the cab driver a $100 bill and was expecting $95 change; but the cabbie told him the cost would be $40 and gave him $60 back. Of course my buddy pushed the issue about the change and was asking the cabbie "why are you doing this?" The cab driver continued to smart off and says "do you want trouble?" My buddy snaps, takes the cabbie down to the ground and starts beating the shit out of him. He said that the cab driver was screaming like a *****; and passers-by was telling him to stop. And apparently, someone called the police/so after a few minutes, the police show up. As they approach my buddy, he tells them he didn't do anything. But they started running at him, and he hip-tossed like 3 or 4 to the ground/he said he didn't punch any of the police though. Eventually he did tire, and they got a hold of him. He said that a police chief or captain showed up, who spoke English and was joking: "So we have an olympic wrestler here." But yeah, the police chief took all his money. He could have just taken a $35 loss versus $900. Right? He goes with me the zona every so often; but he prefers to monger in europe and abroad while travelling to wrestling tournaments. I do a couple domestic wrestling tournaments with him per year/but prefer judo because its easier on the body.
I only used a Yellow cab once. It was from the border to the Arc. I wanted to go to Adelitas but I didn't tell the driver that so I just said "El Arco" which is only a few blocks from the Zona Norte. The ride cost me five bucks. The guy was nice and didn't mention anything about massage parlors perhaps because I wasn't looking to go to Adelitas. Or at least that's what he must of thought.
Some other yellow cabbies just standing around waiting for fares, where trying to lure me by taking me to where the "muchachotas"(hot girls) where. Not to answer for One Wing Low but for myself.. I never pay $1 more for the extra towel at CC. I only tip the boys if they DO NOT knock or at least not early.
When they knock early and are standing there waiting for the tip I remind them that they are paid to not knock early so there will be no tip. They never have anything to say to this if I exit the room on time.

I travel to LA on business every month and typically drive down to go to the zona on Monday or Tuesday nights. This weekend I am coming in on Sunday so will be able to go to the zona on Sunday afternoon/night. I usually stick to Adelitas but want to try out another club or street girl. I'the also like to spend 2-3 hours with one girl. Anybody have any suggestions or ideas? Also if anybody from the LA area wants to catch a ride down with me I am going to be leaving LA around noon and will drive back that night.
I'm thinking of going soon. Perhaps this Saturday if I'm lucky. Lol, I'm gonna try to get lucky in two ways.
Those restaraunts seem really cool. I'd like to try some but I figure they would charge an arm and a leg just like if they where located here in Los Angeles. A friend of the family told me about this place on Avenida Revolucion that has some awesome tacos. And that they only cost 50 cents. I think its 50 cents. But he told me that when he goes, he buys like 10 of them. And that its always crowded cause everyone loves that place. It's not a taco stand. It's a restaurant. He told me exactly where it was but I forget. I'm gonna have to ask him again. He's an older guy and he doesn't go there for mongering. He actually goes for the tourism.
Just curious, how long does it take on the train? I imagine they stop at many stations along the way, but would still be faster than Greyhound bus.Depending on where you leave from, it takes a little over 2 hours to San Diego from the LA area. That's from Fullerton or Anaheim. Figure another 20 - 30 minutes if leaving from LA. From LA it stops in Fullerton, Anaheim, Santa Ana, Irvine, SJ Cap, Oceanside, Del Mar, Solana Beach, probably 1 or 2 more that I've forgotten. I don't think each train stops at each stop.
The biggest problem with the train is the last one out is about 9:00pm on the weekend, and around 8:00pm during the week.

Speaking of food, if you're looking for some really great shrimp tacos, and, sometimes, dorado tacos, there is a wonderful stand on Negrete, between 5th and 6th, if memory serves.
Never seen any gringos there, just locals. My old squeeze took me there once, and, since then, I try to go back and make a pig of myself as often as possible. :-)

I have tried three of the restaurants listed and in earlier post, my favorite restaurant now, is Cheripan. Their steaks are great, and if you like clam chowder, you will like this place.
Saverios, is a very nice restaurant that has Italian food. Very upscaled atmostphere. This restaurant shares the same parking lot with Cheripan.
Cien Anos, although a gourmet restaurant, I thought it was a little overrated. The food was good, but imho, not as good as the two mentioned above.
All three restaurants are upscaled so if you take a date with you, make sure they are dressed properly.
Speaking of restaurants, does anyone know what happened to El Taurino? It used to be my favorite steak house but it looks like it is closed now. For the amount of food you get for the price, this place was a steal.
I know this is not really permitted here since this is not about TJ but I thought I'd ask you TJ mongerers. Anyways, just wondering if any of you that live in the L.A. area plan to go to the adult convention. It starts this Friday Sept 21st at the L.A. Convention Center and lasts through Sunday.

This fish taco could be very nice. Please advise more specific location.It's on Negrete, on the SW corner of Negrete and 6th. It's not open at night, it closes down sometime around 6, maybe a bit later, but certainly all closed up before dark. It doen't look like much (well, what taco stands do?) but the camarones are definitely worth going out of your way for.

The killer tacos de camarones stand is on the SW corner of Negrete and 3rd (Paseo Carrillo). I went there yesterday. It was all I could do to eat 2 of them. Just under $1.50 each.

If so, this is Baja Fish Taco and the cook is Andrew. He speaks English and a lot of us have been going there for years. The food is good and locals eat there all the time.
However, Andy can be a bit of an ass because he thinks gringos have alot of money which makes him jealous. But usually he is ok and he never bothers you, it is just at times you can tell he is pissed off with the world.

No, this one is in a rather commercial district on Negrete. It's right next to a transmission rebuilding place, and just around the corner from a couple of body shops. No pictures on the walls, cuz there are no walls! :-)
It's a typical taco cart, with an awning strung over it. It's in front of what was probably a small restaurant at one time, but now just seems to be where they store the fish, batter makings, sodas, etc. They always have a jug of jamaica in front, a guy on the side grilling dorado tacos, and a horde of locals. I see a lot of cops eat here, for whatever that's worth.
Follow Paseo Carrillo (3ra) east from Revu two blocks. Turn left at the corner of Negrete and it's right there. They seem to close around dusk.

Far as I know it should be. As long as you have a valid United States ID. As for me, I am a Permanent Resident(Green Card). I don't understand how they can call it a Permanent Residence card if it expires. Sock the dolt who came up with the name.
Anyways, if you are like me, then you also need to take your Green card. They've only asked me for it once. I didn't have it and a whole awful mess ensued. You can read about it a few pages back.

I think this rule specifically applies to US citizens.
For others the rule is about the same. Non US citizens have always has to supply more ID when entering the US, so there was no need to change that policy.
For US citizens we can enter with just a state ID at the present.
In the old days we who "looked" military did not even have to show ID at the TJ border. They used to wave us through because we looked like jarheads and swabbies (and were). So this is just a continuation of the more stringent policy for US citizens because it used to be so lax.
Others always had a stringent policy.

TJYeah, I know what you mean. But I'm used to it. I live in Hong Kong West, aka the San Gabriel valley, and I'm like the only white guy when I go to a lot of the markets, etc. But I felt a little out of place the other day, as it was the first time going there without my TJ girly. But, no problems. They were nice, rudimentary Spanish suffices, and I guess everybody in TJ is used to seeing gringos! :-)

That's about the size of it.
The message seems to be that you have to be able to prove citizenship. So if you show up with your DL and Birth Certificate then you're in.
Additonally, these rules apply to US Citizens RETURNING to the USA. If you are an alien, you'll need the proper visas, docs and such.

I already have to do that now providing my Residence Card. They didn't use to ask for it before but now they do and seem to be more demanding of it.
Well requiring that US Passport will greatly reduce tourism into TJ. I'm sure the United States knows that. And by doing so it would also reduce economic factors for the U.S. Not sure exactly how but I know it would and this is most likely why they are delaying it. And I'm sure the only reason they are trying to implement it is because of the tensions with terrorism.

Went to Tijuana for my first visit last Wednesday and Thursday. All I got to say is that it really surpassed all my expectations for quality. This tijuana picture gallery and whoever the hell that King of Siht is really does not do the zona justice. There are some gorgeous girls here!
Followed the tj guide and spent the night state side in chula vista at a motel 6. Was 50 dollars for a bare bones room. Asked for a non smoking room, but when I went in, the room had that stale smoke smell. It had a ash tray turned upside down with a "no smoking" symbol. WTF? I guess since I don't smoke it is a non smoking room that night. LOL. Also the bed was kinda crappy, with really old linens and comforter. Would maybe shell out an extra 20 for a bit better of a room next time at a different hotel, or maybe spend the night in TJ at one of the hotels there. Still doing research on that, could only find la mancion and pueblo amigo so far. Any one have a link or list of recommendations for hotels in tijuana? Just middle of the road accommodations would be great.
Well, I went to all the popular stops: Chicago club, Adelitas, Tropical, Hong Kong. I have got to say all of them have there graces, but the Hong Kong setup is the coolest looking one. Reminds me of something from a Quentin Tarantino movie. I will report the experiences in the appropriate threads.
Was a little nervous going in the first time because it was night and all the stories of cops and robbers I have read about were on my mind. Went through the rotating doors and straight to the cabs. Asked the cab to take me to adelitas for cinco, and I was off to the races. Or so it seemed. The guy tells me that federalis are all over the zona roja inspecting the place because of corruption and no taxis are allowed up there. He says he can take me to revolution where I can walk to the zona or he can take me to Amnesia. He also says that at 11pm the zona will be open again. I could smell the bullsht, but I was still not to confident with my surroundings to stick to my guns. So I said take me to amnesia, where I would have a beer then immediately get another taxi to the zona. I think this place is on revolution, what a pile of sht. Its a rip off establishment, charging prices like an american bar. I had a very quick drink then left. The door man asks if I want to go somewhere else for free blah, blah, blah. By this time I am have some anger confidence going, and am ready to stick to my guns and counter any type of BS someone tries feeding me.
I get in the next cab, and this guy is even more persistent than the first! I ask to go to adelitas, and he says "you don't want to go there, amigo. The girls there are guys with big dciks". At this time I remembered that in mexico, it is always a haggle, always someone trying to get that extra dollar. I say I don't mind and for him to take me there. He goes on with his sales pitch for some other place then finally says he will take me there.
We end up pulling up to Purple Rain! He says " This is Adelitas! " I say no it is not and I start getting really serious and kind of pissed. He finally drives me down the street and drops me off across the street from adelitas. What a dcik!
As soon as I am out of the cab and I see all the chicas standing on the wall and the big bright lights of Adelitas lighting up the night sky, all the BS leading up to this point just disappeared and was replaced with a strong desire to hump something.
I walk across the street, past some cops at the door, and into the Holy Temple. Continued in appropriate threads!

Now that you know your way around a bit, if I where you, next time ask to be taken to the Arc. "El Arco por favor." Then you can walk to Adelitas. It's not more than one block away. Telling them, "Adelitas" up front, just gives them reason to want to screw you over and take you to some cheap ass dive bar/club. Asking them to be taken to the arc should eliviate your problems cause they'll think you're there for tourism and not mongering. Worked for me.

That is a great idea! Every time I mentioned "Adelitas por cinco, por favor", I just invited the hassle. I took about 3 taxis towards the zona during my trip and
everytime it was " oh, this place is so much better".
It will be a couple months before I go back to TJ, but I am already planning the trip. This time a friend is coming along, so it will probably be more of a party than just straight mongering.

Made my 1st trip to TJ recently. I decided to park in the lot near the duty free store. Walking across the border was simple, I just followed the crowd. It was a Sat. Afternoon, just after the rain stopped and there were quite a few people walking across.
Since it was daytime and I've read the forum quite a bit, I decided to keep walking. No problems at all. For those who haven't made this walk, simply look for the arch, and walk towards it. For more help, go to google maps, satellite view. At the s/w corner of the intersection of Av de la Amistad and Larroque, there is a plaza/market area. Follow this area to the end and you'll see a ramp leading up to the pedestrian bridge. On the other side, simply walk up the street to the arch and you're at Av Revolution and Art 123, and 1 block and/W of here is Constitution and Coahuila.
As I started down Constitution, I was noticing the girls in the doorways. Most were ok looking, some pretty nice, some just plain scary.
I went straight to Adelitas and was surprised at how crowded it was at 2:00 PM Sat afternoon. I found a place at the bar, ordered a beer and the fun began. After about a 5 min. Conversation/playtime with about 10 hotties, things slowed down. The others must have noticed that I wasn't buying drinks. I decided to go upstairs with Victoria, who said she was from Sonora. She started BBBJ but soon cover me up and played every position I requested. We finished up right at the knock, cleaned up and headed out.
I don't know what everyone else does, but I did not tip the guys in the hall.
I went across to Chicago, but there was no one there, maybe 1 guy at the bar. Headed to Hong Kong to find that is a fun place. Loud music, large crowd, cheaper beer. Guy at the bar said '2 for 1' but I asked him to keep my 2nd in the cooler. After finishing my 1st, he was right there giving me the 2nd.
I walked around the block a bit checking out all the girls, there must have been 150 of them. Some pretty hot. Next time, I'm trying one.
Caught a taxi back to the border, had a long drive. Wish I could have stayed longer. I will definitely return.

Yeah I was in TJ last weekend. I just hadn't written about it because I've been pretty busy. But now I have some free time. So let me dive into this. I went last Sunday, Sept 22nd. I've never been there on a Sunday. Up till now it's always been Saturdays. Sundays isn't bad because it isn't very crowded like a Saturday. I was originally going Saturday but I had to work. Plus it rained Saturday. Sunday was partially cloudy with a slight breeze so it turned out to be an awesome day to make the trip.
I left early at about 9 or 9:30 am. Last time I left at around 10:30am and traffic was so bad that I reached the border after 4 hours of painstaking driving in the heat. This time Traffic was nice most of the way. Just a little over 2 hours to reach the border. Maybe because it was a Sunday the traffic wasn't bad. The only hitch was in an underpass where there was a tow truck blocking most of the lanes. Saw something bulky covered with a blue blanket. Something red was exposed stretching from underneath the blanket. I can only imagine what it was. Someone's intestines perhaps. D:
Other than that, traffic was nice. If anything, I was reaching the border way too early that I decided to slow down. I preffer to get there later when the prize chicas start showing up otherwise knowing me I'd end up with a lesser girl. Which I kind of did. But I'll talk about that later.
Got to the border and parked in my usual spot behind the Jack In The Box. As I was walking out, these three guys dressed as monks began walking next to me. I found their apparel interesting so I looked. Their robes where a pinkish orange color and they wore sandals. They had some kind of cream/paint that looked like hot candle wax was poured on their forehead and dripped down to their nose where it solidified. The young guy amongst them noticed me looking and said, "Hi, how are you?" I greeted him back. They didn't look like the average monk since the young guy and one other guy where white with a full set of hair. The third guy was a skinny black guy that carried himself in a feminine manner. Perhaps gay. There was a fourth guy dressed in casual shorts and a t-shirt. Perhaps their guide. I decided to keep walking next to them just to see the reaction of the passerbys when they saw us. Lost them at the entrance to the long spiral bridge.
Passed through the rotating doors and entered Mexico. Every trip to Tj has the same familiar feeling of nearing Mexico. You get that feeling that you entered into another country right after going through those second Turnstile doors. Once past, the scents the cars, the views the shops and everything else just cries out Tj. I always find it exciting. Crossed the street and first thing you see is a Drug Pharmacy. Attendants wearing white coats like doctors. Ha! They're not fooling anybody. Passed a McDonalds and a few more Pharmacies. Neared some waiting Yellow Taxis just to hear out desperate calls of a ride to "the special spot." I gesture "no" with a flick of my hand without so much as glancing at them as I walk by.
I reached Tj quite early so I decided to do a little tourism before splurging on my hobby. Decided to hunt down that fish taco stand that ChevyPhan talked about. I have a map printout of TJ that I always take with me. On the back I printout the location of all the bars in the Zona Norte including the hotels. This way I can keep track of where I am and where I am going. I don't really need it to get to the Zona Norte but this Fish Taco stand is not on the Revolucion strip so I needed the map to help me get there. Good thing I had it too, cause the street's names change while you're walking on them. They'll say one thing on one corner then something else on the next corner. I followed my map to Negrete street and found it. And just as FjordPhan said, there was a crowd of mostly locals.
Food smelled pretty good. I stuck around to take in the locals enjoying one of their favorite stands. There was two young guys manning the stand scurrying about serving their customers. A few tourists eating, talking out loud with sudden boastering laughs causing the locals to turn their heads. Typical of some tourists. I hadn't eaten all day and the smells where causing my stomach to grumble. But I decided to wait until after a session with a chica. Didn't want to have fish taco breath while trying to talk deal with one of them.
Walked back to the Avenida Revolucion strip from the Taco Stand which is about three street lights away. It's not too far from the strip but far enough to get away from all the crowds. I entered back into Avenida Revolucion where there was a small parade going on. One float being pulled by locals and monks by ropes. An old man singing on a loudspeaker. Only word I could make out was, "Krishna!" A catchy tune actually. Tourists taking snapshots and shop keepers coming out to see what the commotion was about. And in the front of the float where those three monks I saw earlier dancing about.
Still kind of early so I decided to kill time by watching dancers at a random Zona Norte club. I remembered Blazer13's post on the bad girls of Tropical Club and that I should stay away from them. And because of his warning I decided to do just the opposite. I walked to the Zona and decided to check out the Street Girls first as usual. I never go with a street girl but its fun to walk by them and check them out. Not many lookers for a Sunday afternoon but a few do-ers. Not that I would. Received the usual, "shh shh!" and whispered price quotes to try and get my attention. I ignored them. The ones I do find appealing, I smile at them which only makes them smile back.
I head into Tropical. Saw one cute looking skinny girl at the entrance. Smiled at me as I walked in but then looked away. Seemed pre-occupied with her conversation. I'll leave the rest of the Tropical story at the Tropical Club thread.
Afterwards I was walking around the bars when a Police car was about to pass me but instead stopped quickly only a few feet from me, two police men got out and started walking towards me. Thought maybe they where going to shake me down so I quickly went into the nearest bar. I quickly went into the restroom and into one of the stalls. Decided to wait there for few a minutes just incase they where coming after me. Don't know if they where but better to be on the safe side. Exited the bar and luckily the cops where gone.
I then went to Chavelas. The place was just about dead and only a handful of girls not even decent enough looking. A waiter escorted me to a booth. Asked me what I wanted to drink. I looked around, looked back at him and told him, "I'll come back a little later." and walked out. Place was too dead to waste any money buying a drink.
Finally went to Adelitas. But I'll leave the Adelitas story to the Adelitas thread.
After Adelitas, I decided to go to the "callejones." They're located; when you exit Adelitas go left, cross the street, and at the next corner there are tons of tents filled with locals selling used and new wares. Very different from the stores at Avenida Revolucion. Bought myself some knock-off shirts.
While crossing one of the streets, a police car sounded his horn and stopped abruptly right next to me. I just thought to myself, "It's those same cops and this time they are gonna catch me! I'm going to get shaken down and I'm gonna have to pay them off!" But I decided to keep walking like I didn't notice anything was going on. There was only one cop and he quickly jumped out of his car and began running towards me. Although he ran past me where I saw some crackwh0re not too far off in the distance running away. She ran behind one of the tents and the cop hastily followed her. The cop was kind of chunky so I thought to myself, "If he was runing after me, I'd easily out run him." He caught her eventually cause they both came out. She was wearing handcuffs cussing into the air as he escorted her back to the patrol car. All the while the locals and tourists are drawn to the commotion and talking about what they just witnessed.
It was late afternoon and I was really hungry now so I decided to finally try out some of those fish tacos PhartPhan recommended. Made the long walk back to Negrete Street. Crowd wasn't as big this time but a few more tourists. One fat guy was showing the stand to his friend mentioning that it has the best tacos anywhere. There was also one of Tj's Finest ordering and eating the tacos. Felt a bit nervous around the cop cause of my previous encounters. But he didn't seem to pay any attention to me. I looked at the tacos the people where eating and they where pretty big. I thought they're gonna charge like 3 bucks or more for something like that.
Some lady just received her taco.
I asked the cook, what kind of tacos they serve and he said, "Fish Tacos and Shrimp Tacos." I pointed to the taco the lady was eating and said, "Which one is that one?"
"The Shrimp Taco."
I was stunned at the size of it thinking, "If its made of shrimp they must charge an arm and a leg." I asked him for the prices.
"$1.40 for the fish and $1.50 for shrimp."
That cheap!? And that much quantity for one taco!? Wow! And the shrimp is only ten cents difference! Restaurants here in L.A. usually charge 3 or more bucks upgrading from fish to shrimp for any kind of meal.
"One Shrimp and one fish" I told him."
"With everything?"
"Yeah!"
He gives me two plates one for each taco. These things where huge! Brimming to the top with fish shrimp and all the other ingredients. I tried the shrimp taco first. Man was it good. Both the shrimp and fish are deep fried. I'm not very fond of fried food but these where still very good. Took another bite and bit into a hot pepper. A little too hot. I can usually take hot peppers but these where strong. Kind of ruined the tacos for me but not enough to want to stop. I ate both and asked for a second shrimp taco this time without the hot peppers. These taco's certainly do kick ass! And they're cheap! A taco like this in L.A. could easily cost $5 bucks or more. A little concerned about the sanitary conditions though. But all was good. I have yet to get sick from eating anything in Tj and I've even eaten raw seafood from a stand.
Walked back to the border at about 4:30pm. The line was huge! It might as well have gone all the way back to the Arc. Waited in line about 30 minutes. Not too much of a hassle. I had my ID and my Resident Card this time but wanted to see if they're still being picky about the resident card. Got to the attendant and showed him my ID. I already had my Residence card in my other hand just incase they ask. I hand him my ID, quickly looks it over then glances over me and asks me my citizenship. I tell him I'm a resident. Then with a stern voice and attitude says, "Well then where's your resident card!" Holding it with only two fingers, I quickly fling it out with my other hand in front of him. He gets a bit surprised but then takes it from me. Scans it through the machine and now with a more friendly voice says, "So what are you bringing back from TJ ****?" (all names are kept secret for security reasons lol). I say, "Shirts!" and plop the bag on the table in front of him. I wait to see if he's going to look through it. He doesn't even bother looking at the bag.
So I say, "Aren't you going to look through it?" He hands me back my id and residence card and instead says, "Have a nice day" and gestures with his hand for me to move on like saying, "Get away from me kid, you bother me." I got back to my car behind the Jack in the box. I made it back just under 8 hours so I didn't have to pay anything extra. Woo, Five dollar parking!
Moral of the story? Tj rocks!

Yeah I was in TJ last weekend. I just hadn't written about it because I've been pretty busy. But now I have some free time. So let me dive into this. I went last Sunday, Sept 22nd. I've never been there on a Sunday. Up till now it's always been Saturdays. Sundays isn't bad because it isn't very crowded like a Saturday. I was originally going Saturday but I had to work. Plus it rained Saturday. Sunday was partially cloudy with a slight breeze so it turned out to be an awesome day to make the trip.
I left early at about 9 or 9:30 am. Last time I left at around 10:30am and traffic was so bad that I reached the border after 4 hours of painstaking driving in the heat. This time Traffic was nice most of the way. Just a little over 2 hours to reach the border. Maybe because it was a Sunday the traffic wasn't bad. The only hitch was in an underpass where there was a tow truck blocking most of the lanes. Saw something bulky covered with a blue blanket. Something red was exposed stretching from underneath the blanket. I can only imagine what it was. Someone's intestines perhaps. D:
Other than that, traffic was nice. If anything, I was reaching the border way too early that I decided to slow down. I preffer to get there later when the prize chicas start showing up otherwise knowing me I'd end up with a lesser girl. Which I kind of did. But I'll talk about that later.
Got to the border and parked in my usual spot behind the Jack In The Box. As I was walking out, these three guys dressed as monks began walking next to me. I found their apparel interesting so I looked. Their robes where a pinkish orange color and they wore sandals. They had some kind of cream/paint that looked like hot candle wax was poured on their forehead and dripped down to their nose where it solidified. The young guy amongst them noticed me looking and said, "Hi, how are you?" I greeted him back. They didn't look like the average monk since the young guy and one other guy where white with a full set of hair. The third guy was a skinny black guy that carried himself in a feminine manner. Perhaps gay. There was a fourth guy dressed in casual shorts and a t-shirt. Perhaps their guide. I decided to keep walking next to them just to see the reaction of the passerbys when they saw us. Lost them at the entrance to the long spiral bridge.
Passed through the rotating doors and entered Mexico. Every trip to Tj has the same familiar feeling of nearing Mexico. You get that feeling that you entered into another country right after going through those second Turnstile doors. Once past, the scents the cars, the views the shops and everything else just cries out Tj. I always find it exciting. Crossed the street and first thing you see is a Drug Pharmacy. Attendants wearing white coats like doctors. Ha! They're not fooling anybody. Passed a McDonalds and a few more Pharmacies. Neared some waiting Yellow Taxis just to hear out desperate calls of a ride to "the special spot." I gesture "no" with a flick of my hand without so much as glancing at them as I walk by.
I reached Tj quite early so I decided to do a little tourism before splurging on my hobby. Decided to hunt down that fish taco stand that ChevyPhan talked about. I have a map printout of TJ that I always take with me. On the back I printout the location of all the bars in the Zona Norte including the hotels. This way I can keep track of where I am and where I am going. I don't really need it to get to the Zona Norte but this Fish Taco stand is not on the Revolucion strip so I needed the map to help me get there. Good thing I had it too, cause the street's names change while you're walking on them. They'll say one thing on one corner then something else on the next corner. I followed my map to Negrete street and found it. And just as FjordPhan said, there was a crowd of mostly locals.
Food smelled pretty good. I stuck around to take in the locals enjoying one of their favorite stands. There was two young guys manning the stand scurrying about serving their customers. A few tourists eating, talking out loud with sudden boastering laughs causing the locals to turn their heads. Typical of some tourists. I hadn't eaten all day and the smells where causing my stomach to grumble. But I decided to wait until after a session with a chica. Didn't want to have fish taco breath while trying to talk deal with one of them.
Walked back to the Avenida Revolucion strip from the Taco Stand which is about three street lights away. It's not too far from the strip but far enough to get away from all the crowds. I entered back into Avenida Revolucion where there was a small parade going on. One float being pulled by locals and monks by ropes. An old man singing on a loudspeaker. Only word I could make out was, "Krishna!" A catchy tune actually. Tourists taking snapshots and shop keepers coming out to see what the commotion was about. And in the front of the float where those three monks I saw earlier dancing about.
Still kind of early so I decided to kill time by watching dancers at a random Zona Norte club. I remembered Blazer13's post on the bad girls of Tropical Club and that I should stay away from them. And because of his warning I decided to do just the opposite. I walked to the Zona and decided to check out the Street Girls first as usual. I never go with a street girl but its fun to walk by them and check them out. Not many lookers for a Sunday afternoon but a few do-ers. Not that I would. Received the usual, "shh shh!" and whispered price quotes to try and get my attention. I ignored them. The ones I do find appealing, I smile at them which only makes them smile back.
I head into Tropical. Saw one cute looking skinny girl at the entrance. Smiled at me as I walked in but then looked away. Seemed pre-occupied with her conversation. I'll leave the rest of the Tropical story at the Tropical Club thread.
Afterwards I was walking around the bars when a Police car was about to pass me but instead stopped quickly only a few feet from me, two police men got out and started walking towards me. Thought maybe they where going to shake me down so I quickly went into the nearest bar. I quickly went into the restroom and into one of the stalls. Decided to wait there for few a minutes just incase they where coming after me. Don't know if they where but better to be on the safe side. Exited the bar and luckily the cops where gone.
I then went to Chavelas. The place was just about dead and only a handful of girls not even decent enough looking. A waiter escorted me to a booth. Asked me what I wanted to drink. I looked around, looked back at him and told him, "I'll come back a little later." and walked out. Place was too dead to waste any money buying a drink.
Finally went to Adelitas. But I'll leave the Adelitas story to the Adelitas thread.
After Adelitas, I decided to go to the "callejones." They're located; when you exit Adelitas go left, cross the street, and at the next corner there are tons of tents filled with locals selling used and new wares. Very different from the stores at Avenida Revolucion. Bought myself some knock-off shirts.

There was absolutely nothing boring or annoying about this story, Efjayel. I used to live in TJ quite a few years ago, and this just sounds like a typically interesting day south of the "World's Busiest Border Crossing". It also illustrates why I miss being there; when one decides to reside in Mexico you realize it's about more than just the alley or Hottie Central at Adelita's. Mexico in general (and Tijuana in particular) just seem to have this energy about it, and boredom was one feeling I rarely remembered having while living there.
If you want to talk about boring, I now live in my hometown, a midsized city in the Southeast USA. I promise you this town is nowhere near as interesting on a Saturday night as Tijuana is on a Sunday morning.

It really depnds on you and whether you like large crowds. Adelitas, Miami club, the alley and chicago club are usually very crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. Weekend days are usually OK but busy.
Weekdays and weekday nights will give you more elbow room and if you are overnighting it, you will have no rouble finding a place to stay during the week.

Left San Diego at 7 pm on Saturday, headed south. Took a half hour to get to the $5 parking behind Burger King. Put the club on the steering wheel and took the ticket with me. Half hour and $5 cab ride later and I’m in front of Adelita Bar. No negotiation or upsell from the cabbie. There was a line for the Taxi Libre near McD's, but I didn’t feel like waiting 20 minutes to save $2. FROM L.A. TO TJ

If you're in South Texas, it is worth checking out, but I don't think it is worth making a trip if you're not in the area. There's one large bar called Lipstick where the girls get upward of $150 for an Adelitas type stunner. The smaller places are less, but so is the quality of the girl. Depends on how many hurdles (air connections) it takes to get from where you are to TJ. Expect upwards of 70% of the chica population to be in South Mexico. Historically some take the vacation early and return before Xmas, others wait until January.

If you are used to seeing particular girls you might notice quite a few faces missing at Christmas. The Zona will not be empty, that's for sure.

Got down to TJ for one of my 4 times a year visits. After clearing the turnstile, I walked down to the bus station area and got in line for a Taxi Libre.
Entered the cab and told the guy to take me to Adelita's and he responded: $5. I told him to use the meter, which usually comes up to about $33(mexican) and maybe I would give him $4 total as a tip. He said no, $5. I got out of the cab.
The dispatcher came over and asked me what my problem was. I said "$5 to Adelita's, since when?" Oh, Senor, it is now $5. The next driver in line said, well, how about $4. I responded that the driver said no to $4, so screw you, I'll walk over to Yellow Cab. Driver #2 said "Get in".
Before I did, I told the dispatcher he was being stupid over $1. I asked if he ever wondered how all us Gringos know to walk over here? It's the internet. But as soon as I get home, I'm going to post that Taxi Libre from now on is going to be the same $5 or more that Yellow Cab charges, and if we are going to get f*cked every time we cross the border, well Yellow Cab is a shorter walk to get f*cked.
Hold the line, guys. There is just so much Mexishit we should have to put up with! Next they'll start charging us for condoms............

I no longer bother with the Libres and just grab a yellow. Not from the main lot but across the street North of McDonalds as you exit the turnstiles to the right rather than those straight ahead by the taco stands.
They have never tried to up it beyond $5 or ask for a tip. Cars are larger and more comfortable. Drivers are not as insane.
What's $2 more when we buy chica drinks for $8 ($9 with tip)and end up dropping $150 or so in a night.

After reading some of the great posts here, I decided to check out La Perla. I headed in and was quickly seated, the menu was quite easy to navigate and the waitress was very attentive. I ordered a dos equis and some carne asada tacos, they were out shortly and were very filling and tasty. There were some tv’s with a soccer match on and there was a house band on stage playing music, very nice. Over all a great place to stop in and get some great food for a great price (I can’t recall what I paid but it wasn’t much). The corner taco stands are a great spot to fill the gut too but if you want to grab a seat somewhere, La Perla is not bad at all. Looking from Adelitas it is across the street and to the left on the corner.
Thanks to all who post great info here, it has made my experiences in tj all the more fruitful and enjoyable. You guys are a generous and helpful lot!

You should never pay more than 3 bucks with a Libre Taxi during the day going from the MacDonalds to the Zona. That's the going rate for the locals,however you need some basic Spanish " How much" quanto questa" and "I want to go to the Zona" quiro ir Coahuila por favor....As soon as you start with the Spanish they don't bother messing with you.
That includes the waiters with change and street people bothering you. If they detect you don't know anything or are new they'll try to take advantage. Knowing even a little will save you all kinds of grief.It deters them right away.

It is NEVER slow on a holiday weekend (except maybe Christmas day if it falls on a weekend).

Their complaints come amid speculation in the Mexican media that extortion and other misdeeds by police have increased recently because of an anticipated crackdown once Tijuana's new mayor, Jorge Ramos, takes office Dec. 1.
Authorities are unsure whether the latest accounts about attacks against tourists reflect an increase in attacks or that more people are sharing their stories with reporters or on Internet sites.
Robert Fishman, director of administration for the Mainly Mozart Festival in San Diego, said he was robbed of more than $500 in cash by a group of Mexican police officers Oct. 13 after leaving a Caliente sports gaming site. He said the officers stopped him on a dark section of the pedestrian bridge that leads to the San Ysidro border crossing around 10 p.m. and searched his wallet and pockets. After they let him go, he realized the money was missing.
Fishman filed a report with the San Diego Police Department, which forwards the information to the U.S. Consulate in Mexico. However, he said the case appeared stymied because he couldn't see the officers' faces.
Fishman said he does not plan to go back to Baja California.'

I went to TJ on 11.17.07 and went with a Taxi Libre and he upfront said $5 to go to Adelitas and if I was okay with that...giving me the option to get out. I thought it was weird at first but after reading the post below I guess they too will be charging $5.
I was mugged (couple yrs ago) once - during the day - going to the Zona so started taking a taxi to\from faithfully after that. Having said that the past couple months took taxi to the Zone but walked back since I only took enough money for beers and the chicas leaving -$20 on myself going back...no loss if I am mugged again.
I would pay less of course...but do not want to expose myself in getting robed on my way to the Zona...so $5 is better then $$$. My thought.

Maybe I'll take a trip down there to see if they get "slingshots" again. (LOL) This can only help business because I was hearing stuff on major news channels that was not good.
If it stayed the same I'd bet there would be even less tourists. I'm already making plans for Brazil and Thailand in 2008 because of TJ's issues with the "gringo." I hope things get better because if not they'll lose the non-monger tourists as well. If I go I'm sure to post my experiences.

Everything from the beer, the hotels, and girls will be quoted in US dollars and in almost all cases you get change in dollars if you pay in dollars. The unofficial exchange rate is 10 pesos to the dollar. So a $60 Adelita girl may charge 600 pesos.
Since the official exchange rate is closer to 11 pesos to the dollar, a 600 peso Adelita girl will cost you $54 at the interbank rate [the casa de cambio rate on either side of the border is slightly less] so you'd save $6 if you use pesos. But if you get pesos from an ATM, you might have to pay your home bank $5 for the privilege. But if you go to a casa de cambio with greenbacks you'll save some money, but if you get too much, you'll be lose a little of your savings selling your pesos for dollars on the way out of town. Or be stuck with pesos in the US for your next trip.
Note that some girls who are more hooked into the exchange rates will charge you more than the 10/1 unofficial rate so that Adelita girl might charge 650 pesos or $60 meaning you stood in line at the casa de cambio for nothing.
For me, I'll just use dollars to avoid the hassle going to a casa de cambio on the way in and out of town. It isn't like I'm spending thousands of dollars where the difference in the rates won't kill me.

Implemented on January 23, 2007, ALL PERSONS traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean region are required to present a passport or other valid travel document to enter or re-enter the United States.
LAND AND SEA TRAVEL
The following summarizes information available on the Department of Homeland Security’s website.
JANUARY 31, 2008
U.S. and Canadian citizens will need to present either a WHTI-compliant document, or a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, plus proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate. DHS also proposes to begin alternative procedures for U.S. and Canadian children at that time.
SUMMER 2008
At a later date, to be determined, the departments will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have either a U.S. passport; a U.S. passport card; a trusted traveler card such as NEXUS, FAST, or SENTRI; a valid Merchant Mariner Document (MMD) when traveling in conjunction with official maritime business; or a valid U.S. Military identification card when traveling on official orders.
The implementation date will be determined based on a number of factors, including the progress of actions undertaken by the Department of Homeland Security to implement the WHTI requirements and the availability of WHTI compliant documents on both sides of the border. DHS and DOS expect the date of full WHTI implementation to be in the summer of 2008. The precise implementation date will be formally announced with at least 60 days notice.
Note: The passport requirement does NOT apply to U.S. citizens traveling to or returning directly from a U.S. territory.
U.S. PASSPORT AND OTHER TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
U.S. Passport: U.S. citizens may present a valid U.S. passport when traveling via air, land or sea between the U.S. and the aforementioned Western Hemisphere countries.
The Passport Card: This limited-use, wallet-size passport card is not yet available and is under development. When available it will only be valid for land and sea travel between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean region (includes Bermuda).
Other Accepted Travel Documents: SENTRI, NEXUS, FAST and the U.S. Coast Guard Mariner Document. Members of the U.S. Armed Forces on active duty traveling on orders are exempt from the passport requirement. DHS has more information on these travel documents. This information may be seen at www.dhs.gov.

The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative is a result of the Intelligence Reform and Prevention Act of 2004 (IRTPA), requiring all travelers to present a passport or other document that denotes identity and citizenship when entering the U.S.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on February 22 its intent to propose, as part of the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), significant flexibility regarding travel documents required for U.S. and Canadian children as part of WHTI requirements for U.S. land and sea border entry in 2008.

Remember that Christmas in Mexico is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, and a time for family as opposed to the USA where it is a celebration of a reduction in retail prices in places like Walmart. The seemingly unbearable social pressure of spending big bucks for things you don't need to impress people you probably don't even like comes into play as well.
New years is party time in Mexico as well as the USA. Problem being that the girls won't be back in time. You'll have more locals to choose from which is not at all a bad deal.

Yup the pickens get a little slim, but remember as cj has said there are still locals around and some if not all need the extra cash, quality can still be had anywhere just have to look. I have been going to tj for at least the early 60's when I was a kid and went when i was a teen it still is he same just have to look.
New years is a blast, but as cj has said some of the senoritas are not back yet, hook up with a fellow monger and enjoy.
