Having said that, this is big business in Japan. In any strip club, after her performance, the dancer willl come on stage with the polaroid and asks spectators to take picture. I would say your correct, but I think the difference is the bargin hunters will get caught in a Sting operation here. Its tollerated in TJ, Craigslist is a 50/50 sucess rate at the best of times and Eros is full of $$$ talent.

From a purely monetary standpoint, strictly speaking, you're correct. But, to be consistent, from a strictly monetary standpoint we would all drive Kias, all eat off the McDonald's $1 menu and purchase clothing from the Salvation Army.

Obviously, we don't all do that (except FJL! :) :) ) So, purchases are made for many more reasons than just monetary, and a roll in the hay is no different.

I like TJ because there is no risk of LE and all the associated BS that comes along with running afoul of the feminazis in this country. And it's a brief glimpse into another culture, at least to some degree. Yes, there are risks of shakedowns, but, if you're careful, they can be minimized. It's a pain to get to SD and back, but I find the fun outweighs the annoyance. While there isn't much to choose from except Latinas, the good thing is that there are all kinds of 'em! I've never been a fan of US strip clubs, but, then, there's really nothing like HK in the US, especially in CA. The variety of the venues is great, and really good GFEs are pretty easy to find.

Like I said you never know if your going to get caught up in a Sting or get rip-off service locally and those are the biggest issues.

Decent services in Los Angeles run at least $200 for one hour, maybe you can get them to drop down to $100-150 for 30 mins. Even with the exchange rate its roughly $160US an hour in a German FKK. Most of these prices are set, no negotiations skills needed. The talent level is HIGH, you have to go out of you way to find a ugly woman. For quality service just pay attention to your surroundings.

Now if you factor in it cost me $1,000 to fly to A-Dam (didn't dabble there), an additional $235 for Hotel, another $170 for a one way ticket to Norway (Bergen), $60 for the overnight train to Oslo, $180 to fly to Sweden One way, $150 for hotel and I hadn't had sex yet on this trip, look how much I spent. I feel that TJ is a better deal, by far, when you consider the risk/reward factor this side of the border. One bust from LE will cost you more than a dozen trips in the long run. Next is the rip off risk with CL gals. Being on the other side of the law makes you an easy target for rip offs, be it pimps, crooks or ROBs.
A friend had this whacked out gal from CL show up at his door. It was a bad scene from the start and she left in a huff. Next get a room at Cascadas Hotel, the one next to HK. They give you a room on the top floor away from the street noise. Last time it was $35 for a single room and $45 for a double. The best part is that there is no charge when bringing a gal over from HK or the street. It’s usually $12 for a ½ hour, so after 3 trips I’m ahead and I get a room for the night. I plan for 3 gals the first night and then 1 the next day just before I check out. Sometimes it’s 2 and 2.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - U.S. and Mexican states are considering charging a fee for border crossings to raise money for infrastructure improvements that would reduce congestion at border posts, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said on Friday.

The news came after governors from the 10 border states met with U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff at the Border Governors Conference in Los Angeles.

"Everyone agrees that we need to expand the pipe ... which means that we can get more people across quicker, more efficiently," Schwarzenegger told reporters at a news conference. "And there is a lack of money right now ... maybe people pay a certain amount to come cross. Let's assume $5. Don't hold me to that but that would then pay the bonds so we can develop infrastructure."

Such plans will be critical to making all kinds of infrastructure improvements throughout California in the years to come, Schwarzenegger said, adding that the state would need $500 billion of investment in infrastructure in the next 20 years.

In a joint statement the governors called for a substantial reduction in wait times to cross the border by 2013, and backed a drive by U.S. and Mexican federal agencies for funding to hire more border inspectors.

They also backed measures to curb crime in the borderlands, including human and gun trafficking.

Well, I think it's polite for California to ask first. Realize that you will pay in one form or another. If a "TAX" put on the growing grass on every lawn in California, that'll do it but then it will get tied up on court for 10 years.

No, the quickest, most direct way to raise the money is to charge a "re-entry fee" to cover "overhead costs."

I'd pay $5.00 to spend an hour less in line. So maybe they should have the regular lanes, the Sentry lane and then the Pay lane. Maybe charge only vehicles that do NOT have US plates, or non citizens etc. Somehow I think things would even out a bit and we'd all get across a bit sooner.

One thing I realized especially after moving to TJ is that I didn't know shit about Latinas. Understading a bit about their culture helps a lot.

I was referring to civilians. In the Zona, all you need to do is hold your wallet over your head and you'll be surrounded in no time.

Some will go at the drop of a hat while others take conditioning. Learning to distinguish between the two will be an important first step in breaking ground in the civilian world.

What insults the latina in the civilian world is the notion by gringos that any of them will go to bed immediately, that all they want in their life is a gringo. This is not true. You'd be surprised how many could care less.

Latinas as smarter than you think, they can size you up in a second and they will decide whether you are "cool" or just another gringo looking for a quick fuck, wham-bam, thank you ma'am. As you go down scale you'll find more easier to fuck for some form of exchange.

When you see or meet a Latina for the first time, you can't show any interest in their body. You need to talk to THEM first and if things go well conversationally speaking, then you can start to "notice" them a bit more. I find that this works very well.

I go alone all the time. Park in the lot, walk across. If it's still light out, say before 7:30, walk to the zona and save $5. No biggie.

I for one have found the information CJ gives out quite useful, especially to newbies. I had to figure a lot out on my own before I found this site. I came up with my own set of rules and philosophies and found the advice CJ gives out is great. I have personally seen many gringos in action acting like total a-holes in the zone. CJ is just trying to set some of these folks straight. He offers up his opionion and does not claim to know everything. Living in TJ and visiting there (as I recall) for almost as long as I have been alive, he knows much more than me or most of us.

I respect CJ for his knowledge about TJ and the current events going on. Although, I never really thought much about what he has to say about Tj chicas. Well the non prostitute chicas anyways. But that's not to say that his information is completely useless. He's given me some info that I've used and turned up with some good results. He's not perfect, you're not perfect, I'm not perfect, nobody's perfect. If we where, we wouldn't be here talking about aquiring sex by paying for it.

As for Depeche Mode, (get a new name, Depeche Mode is old) just go by yourself. I've gone to Tj only by myself. And I like that I don't have to be looking out for anyone. I can go where I please and don't have to be bothered about needing to leave because others already got what they wanted. When I do go Tj I make a day of it. I get there in the afternoon and walk to the bars. I check out the action in the street and wink at some of the girls. I walk through the bars to see the current action. You might want to check out Brockton O'Tool's Guide to TJ. It's a thread here on the Tijuana Board. It has alot of great information. Some of it might not seem to apply to your situation, but read it all the way through. Situations can change and it's better to be prepared and not need it than to need it and not be prepared.

Last year a buddy who is married ask me to fly down to San Diego/Tijuana for the weekend. He is married with two kids and he was feeling stressed out about work and family life. I've eaten off this place on the route to La zona. It's on the alley right before the arc. It's reached by taking the walking path as shown on my map. Can't say much for the food except that it was decent. But I liked it cause the waitresses are locals girls wearing tight jeans and red shirts. Not exactly zona material but some of them where cute. Prices are what you would expect for the certain time periods, 70, s $10 to $15, 80, s $20 to $30, 90's $30 to $40, and if you know how to wine and dine have a good time use that gift of gab, it is priceless this is still good to this day. The chicas will flock to you and maybe get a freebe. But you really have to work it and show respect.

I have noticed that the heshes are still here, and they seem to be about the same amount of them around as in the past.

As far as what the chicas wore, nothing or nearly nothing made it better for easy access.

I use to go out with a chica 2003 and she always dressed conservatively, had great times with her and friends always tipped her well and she never once asked for money. I ran out of money one day and they paid for the evening. How great is that, but enough of that lets here about current adventures I have been out of circulation for year will return and post my adventures.

Seriously. When you go down to TJ, get yourself a room. I love Hotel Nelson at the arch. You will be 1/2 block from zona, two block from purple puke I mean rain. LOL Hotel safe, the walk is safe and you can relax and enjoy the shows at hk, cc, ab and window shop alley girls. I always feel safest in the zona. If you get tired go to room nap go back out. Overnight is the true way to enjoy TJ. Watching your watch is a bummer. In morning grab a alley girl to soothe the beast. Check out tourist area. You can even walk out! Then a relaxed drive home. Then you will have some major brag for your sore ass homosexual friends.

So get to TJ. Cab to arco, get a room and enjoy yourself! Room $40 and no rush to find a chica. Well worth it my brother. Hey guys I'm back! Here is my report:

So I started the day with getting some spending money at the bank. Huge line. Anyway I got too excited and said fuck it, I'm'a go now! So I pumped gas and was off all alone. Left L. A. At 2:30pm. Traffic was pretty shitty, I'm use to NO traffic since I usually go at night time. Got to the border at around 5:30pm roughly. Walked the lonely walk across the bridge. Found a taxi and told him. Take me to Adelitas! Tijuana is so different in the day, so lively. Got to Adelitas and it felt like home. I saw alot of hot chicks like I expected. Funny thing was this was my first time going alone as well as trying an Adelitas girl. I walk around. SIDE NOTE: I withheld from, ehh hmm, completing at all for 2 days.

So I semi picked a random chick, I was way too excited to be cool and wait. LOL I approached her and said whats up, and I asked how much for everything she said 60 for her and 12 for the room. This part sucked, as we start to walk to the exit, a tall light skinned big butt/titi chick walked by and I was like dam should have got her. But I'm so god damn humble/polite I stayed with my original choice. We get to room 109 and I tested her, I pretended to forget to pay upfront. Just before we got started she asked if I mind paying her, I said yes and did. We fucked and it was real good, as I came I thought, this trip was worth it! We said our goodbyes and left, for some reason as I came down the stairs I thought fuck I'm done son. Caught a cab and went back to the border. Long line but it moved quickly.

In closing, going alone was different, has its ups and downs. But I'm sure as hell glad I did it. Now there is no barrier.

One last thing. I'm DONE WITH PURPLE RAIN. I guess it was my crutch, now that I've tried Adelitas, I'm sticking to that. You guys were right. 73 bucks total to fuck at Adelitas, awesome.

It is a great location for a newbie. The building is "seasoned", old elevator nice bar and safe. It is the best "base camp" I have found. There are worse places to stay. I do not like staying in the Zona cause I got to take a break from the craziness of the area. Nicer hotels around but you need a taxi for safety sake. I enjoy the tourist area during recharge periods and can enjoy the view from a third or fourth floor room. I am there for the chicas mostly and all I need is a room for is a bathroom / shower, light storage and a few hours sleep. If I want to get my drink on, I can top it off in their bar and then ride the elevator to my room without worried about policia. Go out back door, 1/2 block to Zona or out front door and you are on the tourist strip. I roam around without taxi at all hours. All I need are my LPC's (leather personnel carriers (shoes)).

Traveling back and forth from the zona at late night is not as easy. That can be a long block at 2-3 am for a newbie dodging barkers and the policia by the bank at the corner. I should be in TJ the first week of Sept. and will look there also.

For some reason Hotel Nelson would not give me a room one summer after 3 other soldiers and myself spent 4 days there. I came back there three weeks later and the desk guy said it was a family hotel and they were full.lol You think it was something I did? So I went down to Enva. The next summer I was back in Nelsons.

Anyways, like the other guy said, tip to the cleanup guy, you should give him only one dollar. $5 dollars is a lot. $4 dollars for water? You didn't tip the waiter? $6 dollars and $10 dollars for taxi? I don't tip them, I only give them what they earn which is $5 dollars. Well it's also because I'm broke by the end of the day and only have $5 dollars left. But if you're going during the day, I would suggest walking the path. Save yourself the money so you can use it to buy a lady drink or tacos later.

AB is good but don't only stick to that bar. I suggest you at least check out the other bars. And you're doing right by avoiding Purple Pain. They overcharge and should be avoided. Tourist trap.

Perhaps you should also try some of the street girls.

Gentlemen or lady's I was looking at the map submitted very accurate in detail, I just want to add that at Camino de la plaza and virginia street just up form the parking lot. You want to pass this Intersection go about a 1/4 mi. you will see a stand alone ATM on the northside of street in the parking lot for the various stores there. I have used this machine when I get to TJ and after when the cash is low. Hope this helps.

Although, you guys don't know realize how much of my own time I spent making the map and the time spent in TJ scouting all the areas by foot. But as long as people appreciate all the effort I've put into it then it makes all the hard work worth it. So thanks guys! Updating the map doesn't end there. I plan to make a new even more detailed map. I got started on it some while back but need to return to Tj to get the info needed to complete it. But all in due time.

It's important to know that the exit from the Zona to the border along the Ave Internacional is CLOSED because they are re-building the road. Knowing how things work in Mexico, it should be down for several months. Take Benito Juarez instead.

Anyone who drives across would, I am sure, already know that.

I can only imagine what this is doing to morning corss border traffic.

On another note, MAJOR KUDOS to the city of TJ for completing the Southbound stretch of the Via Rapida to La Presa. It's fresh new concrete and even has those flashing LED bumps along the way to help the drunks stay in their lane. All they need to do now is complete the on/off ramps and it will be totally done.

Added to all this is the cleaning and planting and the landscape work going on. Major changes taking place. Very nice to see.

Thanks!It is safe to walk around the block. Around the block is most of the alley girls. If you stay in the zona you will be safe. I think,around the block is the safest area. When in a crowd you are safe but walking areas with few/no people could be a problem. Chances of being mugged around the alley girls is slim to none. Venture around the block you will love it.

Thanks!Lots of people like HK because it's like a strip bar atmosphere, here you can get to know the chica's a bit better, get better bang for your buck if you know what i mean. At AB it seems like you can also get the same but it's less personable there, (well i've only been there when it's very busy so that's probably why) they've remodeled HK so there's more space to roam the wild. I haven't been there in some months but I think (could be wrong) AB still has more trophy wife type girls but the girls at HK aren't too shabby either. Why not check out both and you be the judge, it's only walking distance away. It's like 3 or 4 doors down in the opposite direction from Chicago club. There are two entrances now so you don't have to walk around. Don't forget your trip report.

From AB exit and turn left. Walk about 30 yards and you'll find the entrance to the new section of HK. It's the opposite direction you would take if going to CC.

They are very different clubs. HK is a noisy strip club with lots of dancing areas. HK is big and there is more of everything including annoying waiters. CC is a relatively quiet place with some dancers/strippers but seems more like a lounge unless you go at prime times (FR and SA night).

Try them both. They (and AB) are all very close together.

Last year was the first time I went to Tijuana zona. Although I had been there before I never knew about the zona and what it had to offer. I wish I had known about this years ago now that I am 45 and not so deperate to get laid as I was in my younger days. I am single but my ex wife was the best pc of ass I have had yet. I just couldn't deal w/her bad temper. My Spanish is so so, but not conversational. There in lies my problem. What little Spanish I know helped, but I know I could tear up that area if only my Spanish were fluent. First time I went in July and arrived in the late Friday afternoon. Walked around and couldn't believe how many beautiful girls just standing out on the street looking for $$. Wasnt there long and a younger Mexican man approached me and wanted to show me around. I figured he was looking to make some money and I needed someone w/experience so I saw it as a win win for both of us. Never had a street girl then. He hooked me up w/a girl standing on the street. Wouldn't been my 1st choice but not bad. Went through the walkway paid for room and went inside. I was a little nerveous. She took her top off and asked for money. I paid and I started to kiss her and she said no kissing. She laid down some rules and I took my money and left her cold. Next went to Playboy Club. Got a couple dosxx and watched the girls dance. A girl came over and sat on my lap and wanted a drink. $$ for the bar. Didn't like her looks. Ugly tattoos and fishhooks in her lip. I pushed her off. Anouther girl came by lookin much better. Tall phillapina named Pearla. Paid the bar fine and took her w/me out dancing at a nice Mexican resteraunt. Then back to her place. A rundown motel near Adelitas. When we were finished she crashed on the bed. She didn't ask for money but I left a few 20s and had to work the next morning. Next trip 2 weeks later looked for Pearla but she had vanished from the earth. Anouther young Mexican boy 18-19yrs wanted to show me a place over on revolution. Went through a bar and through the back door and behind was large glass windows, to the left an inside garage leading out to revolution. This was a massage parlor. Went inside sat on a long leather couch. An older woman got on her phone and made a call. All of a sudden about 15 beautiful young girls came in and stood in front of me. They called off their names. One girl named Karen stood out. They left and I negotiated w/ the woman and said I liked Karen. She was called and we went to the room for a massage. She was about 18 and very fresh and cute (looked like Tanya Roberts from Beastmaster). We massaged each other and she said I could do anything but kiss her on the lips. But I wanted an hour and needed more cash. So I left to the Atm right outside. I had lots of $$ in the bank and decided to check anouther place out and go back later. Big mistake. Walked down north on Revolution to a place w/purple lighting outside. Almost to the end of the street. Went inside. Same thing but less lighting. Girls came out lined up and I chose. A very very beautiful girl and petite. 120 for 45 minutes. Went to the room. Very cramped and hot. Not much light. This girl was very difficult and was going to be a dead lay. I was pissed at her attitude and put my shirt on and she said you can't leave. I said watch me. I hadnt even got my pants off 5 min tops. The lady didn't want to give my $$ back but I made a scene outside and she gave most of it back. I left in a hurry back to Karen. Who was very nice and new. Tightest girl I ever had. When the time was up someone knocked. (I hate it when that happens) she jumped up gave me a kiss and I gave her a nice silver bracelet for a tip. According to my map, Ave Internacional is all the way up north. The last street before the border/river and doesn't even come near my described "walking path." An area that isn't usually visited. Don't see how that can affect anything.

This has been discussed to death if you read previous posts. AB = Bar while HK = Strip Joint

But if you've only been to AB then I feel sorry for you cause there is so many other bars to check out. Sure, AB tends to have the cream of the crop and some of the other bars have mostly uggos or girls you wouldn't do even if they paid you but that doesn't mean there isn't fun out there or the occasional diamond in the rough. Plus lets not forget that AB tends to be a sex factory. You're in, you're out then the next guy comes along and repeat. You tend to get a better GFE from non trophy wife chicas. Gentlemen or lady's I was looking at the map submitted very accurate in detail, I just want to add that at Camino de la plaza and virginia street just up form the parking lot. You want to pass this Intersection go about a 1/4 mi. you will see a stand alone ATM on the northside of street in the parking lot for the various stores there. I have used this machine when I get to TJ and after when the cash is low. Hope this helps.

Proceeding west on Cohuila, out the door of AB, the first bar you'd come to is Las Chavelas. It now goes through the building and comes out on the alley side as Miami. If memory serves, the next doorway west is the new HK door. Next is Botana 2000, a tiny strip club.

Rio Rosa is on the NE corner of Callejon Coahuila and Ninos Heroes. Not for the faint of heart! :)

Wasn't there long and a younger Mexican man approached me and wanted to show me around.I recommend avoiding guys like this. Virtually all of them are hustlers of some sort, who do nothing to add value to your Zona Norte experience. Best case is he's pimping for some street girl. But picking up a street girl is like falling out of a boat and hitting water. There is zero need for a "guide," who will likely steer you toward somebody who can't get clients on her own. If you read Brockton O'Toole's TJ FAQ and a little of the traffic here, you'll have a safe time even if you're flying solo and you don't speak any Spanish.

Moreover, the hustlers are well known to the police. If the cops see you talking to them, they will often use it as a pretext to detain you -- saying they suspect you bought drugs from him. This type of shakedown really puts a damper on a nice evening in the zona.


(While strolling along Avenida Revolucion) another young Mexican boy 18-19yrs wanted to show me a place over on revolution. Went through a bar and through the back door and behind was large glass windows, to the left an inside garage leading out to revolution. This was a massage parlor.As Karl later found out, the massage parlor scene on Avenida Revolucion is hit and miss. While an occasional hottie can be found who provides decent service, the majority of the places are a total rip off and best avoided. That's why they employ hustlers to lure customers into these clip joints.

I realize that Karl lucked out and found a girl he liked. But that kind of experience is the exception at massage parlors. I respectfully suggest he check out the mainstream clubs in the Zona Norte, like the Adelita Bar, Hong Kong Club, Chicago Club, Tropical and Las Chavelas. I think he'll be pleasantly surprised at the quality and selection. And most importantly he won't be dealing with hustlers and touts.

But if you've only been to AB then I feel sorry for you cause there is so many other bars to check out. I was last in TJ in 6/2008 and was shocked to find a massive line for pedestrian crossing that I had never seen before. True, it was 5pm and a Sunday but wow. The line was not even moving.

I was approached and for $5 someone told me they could get me across faster. They loaded me in a van and drove me through the commercial land where I got out and entered the checkpoint at San Ysidro.

I do not think I saved any time as it still took us about an hour to get across. The ped lines appear to move in great bursts then stop for a while so they can look deceiving. In the end, it was hot and at least I was in A/C comfort for a while.

I'm still working on perfecting the first map. Cleaning it up and stuff. But I don't plan to remove the comments. The comments are part of its charm. Plus I want it to be an all in one map. Printer ink isn't cheap and I doubt newbies would like the idea of going back and forth through different maps.

But I do plan to make yet another even more detailed map. It's mostly for fun and not meant to be printed out but to study from it and have a few laughs.

Good place to stay. The manager a couple of years ago told me they were wanting to split off from Travelodge as it was no advantage being part of the franchise. If you are a U.S. citizen just tell the BP that you are a U.S. citizen even if you don't have anything, lying about citizenship is a felony, so if you really are a U.S citizen don't worry about it if they have any doubts who you are they will ask you a bunch of questions or they will take you to your car so you can show them your car registration.

I've stayed at Cascadas, the place right next to Honk Kong several times; the main entrance is in the alley. The lower floors are the rooms where you take the gals from the street or HK. The upper floors are removed from the street noise, but I can't guarantee how quite it is on the weekends. They are girl friendly.
Once I ran into a couple of cute gals getting on the elevator. They stayed in rooms on the same upper floor. I couldn’t tell if they worked at HK or on the street, but didn’t ask. We made small talk on the way up and ended going out for dinner and dancing. They were fun and I treated them with respect, we had a great time. I had no expectations. after a day of long flight delays i finally arrived at the zona around 10pm in a yellow cab driven by an up and coming

nascar driver. first stop was ab. unfortunately i was extremely tired after traveling about 16 hours, so i was

having trouble getting up the energy to talk to any chicas. i usually make it to tijuana about 1 or 2 times a year, and i

am amazed at how many chicas remain the same over the years. i usually go during the week so saturday night was very

Crossed the border around 3pm and walked to the zona. Went straight to Adelitas and enjoyed the less crowded atmosphere as compared to Sat night. I do not sleep that much in TJ ( I do a few of catnaps to stay charged) so I do not want to walk very far at night and deal with policia.

i've ride a few elevators at the zona rio in really nice medical buildings, the elevators are well maintain with a safety sticker on the wall, but i have my doubts with the zona elevators.lol the worst that could happen is getting stuck in them. only in the movies do they come crashing down out of control. they all have speed brakes. if the cable breaks, gears strip and the unit starts to fall , the breaks will lock it up and hold it in place. even mexico zona has these safety features. oh , even a one story drop would ruin your day ;)

From experience I know that the Mexican people tend to get jobs in the construction field and that they are mostly reliable on the kind of work that they do. But even though elevators have safety features such as brakes, who's to trust they are working reliably? And in the zona just about everyone is looking to make a quick buck so you can bet that inspectors in Tijuana are easily accepting cash to pass certification of these things if they don't pass the first time cause of a small detail that at the time doesn't look like it could do much harm but after time it could become major.

The closing for my land I bought in Ensenada was in Tijuana so I decided to monger afterwards.

I was a little worried at first because of hearing about all of the problems with the policia, hackers, and crime. I did not have any problems at all but then again it was Wednesday, not the weekend. I stayed at hotel Hacienda de Santiago because it had a parking garage. It did not have AC and it was rather hot.

I walked around alot and was impressed how pretty the SG are and the number of them. I am used to Mexicali and you just have to know how to handle the hackers. The food I ate in centro was OK.

I decided to go to AB as there was not much happening in CC or HC. I was in AB for about 5 minutes and a girl sat down next to me. We started small chat and so I offered her a drink. She was from Acapulco. Can't remember her name. She was friendly rubbed oscar and showed me her tatas.

From reading the posts I knew the going rate. So for $100 for the hour we went upstairs. She was 27 years old and like most putas have kids from a loser Mexicano who won't pay child support.

So far, I will be in Tijuana next week. I am thinking. From SD airport I will walk to the trolley, cause it is only a mile or so, I will only have a backback and I will need to catch up on my cigarette smoking. Trolley to border. Walk to arch (after flight and trolley I will need to stretch my legs). Grab a taco or my favorite ice cream and stroll through the alley. I will then look for the different hotels to stay in. I will take my time cause I will be there three nights. I might even stop for a massage while checking. I will check in the hotel, shower and change clothes. Then back to the zona for targets of opportunity in the alley. After about three I will spend a couple hours enjoying the clubs. I will want to just relax by then and enjoy the atmospheres. Then back to the alley to find a girl for hours of fun later (I always make dates in advance). I get to restless to sit in same bar very long (usually no more than an hour or so at a time). I will keep switching between alley and clubs. I like taking the chica out to eat or dancing before going to my hotel. Once the hotel is complete I will repeat the cycle. had a very rare few hours to myself last saturday, sept 13, so i made a run for the border. i didn't really know how a saturday afternoon would be, but took a shot.

getting there: i don't go to tj with anywhere near the frequency as some of you, but i have been a dozen times or so. since i was there in the afternoon, and knew i would be returning before late, i opted to park in the mexicoach lot and take their bus into town. parking is $8, and the busride is about the same, if i remember right. that was probably a mistake. the trip in took about an hour because of a holdup at the border. walking and taxi from teh border would have been quicker. the bus takes you into town and drop you at their station near 7th and revolution. i then walk from there to the zone.

street girls: even on a saturday afternoon, there are lots of girls plying on the streets. as you all know, they are young, and many are very attractive. they come in all shapes and sizes. i especially appreciated the ultra-spinner standing down the alley from the now-back entrance to hong kong.

hong kong: i spent a fair part of my time in town at hong kong. you all are right, it has changed quite a bit. in fact, that was why i wanted to make a run -- to see how it is. i can see why some would not like it, but i did. it's more like a stateside strip joint, but more rough and tumble. at any given time there are at least six girls dancing on stages. most of the time i was there two of the (the best lookers, imho), were doing a whipped creme thing with each other, then going around the room collecteg money from everyone there. they made a ton of ones. the young girls (someone referred to them as cheerleaders) were also there, and they were very cute, but they didn't appear to be interested in any interaction with the guys. i like hong kong. the pushiness is annoying, but you can deal with that.

adelita's: ab has also changed a little bit since i was there last, but nothing like the major renovations at hong kong. still has the best lookers, and the girls are more likely to try to connect with you, as opposed to hong kong, where you generally need to connect with them.

mermaids: has anyone been here lately? i don't here anything more about it. i didn't go in thise time. the last time i did, there was noone inside. does anyone go here any more? or how about the other mermaids on 8th, or 9th, or thereabouts? i have to admit that i like the schoolgirl theme. and i have tried some other massage places in town. some of them have stunningly attractive girls, at about the same cost as a 45-year old here stateside.

general observations: it is obvious to me that the crime is hurting tijuana. for a saturday afternoon, in the summer, with mild weather, there were very few tourists. many of the shops, stores and clubs along revolution are shuttered. i am no expert, but i think people are afraid to cross the border.

trip out: left the mexicoach terminal at 7:00. the trip out took a long time, too, because of traffic. the lines at la linea was not long, though, and since i had my handy passport card, there were no problems. border patrol was letting people without paperwork through, but being as obnoxious as they could be to get the point across that they needed the right papers.

Headed down to AB at about 4:30pm. The place was decorated in Red, White and Green in anticipation of Mexican independence day at midnight, and most of the girls had the same color clothing as well. Hey guys, well the shit really hit the fan. Just kidding, here's what happened:

Woke up, worked out and then showered. My friend picked me up and we were off to the 711 to get some cash. We start the drive at around 4 so there was daylight still. My friend really enjoyed driving there during the day as there is actually something to look at. We arrive at around 6:30.

We cross the border then tell the taxi to take us to La Revolution. He drops us off infront of Adelitas. My friend (who was always CLOSED minded about exploring Tijuana) wanted to explore the blvd. Our first stop, the infamous Hong Kong! Wow the place is pretty cool. We sat down and my friend instantly started talking/touching one of the girls. I of course was eagerly awaiting Adelitas. We leave and continue exploring Revolution. We saw a club called "New York" dead as all hell, we then saw Mermaids, again dead. We found Chicago Club, and the doorman asked me when my birthday was, must have thought I was 17 LOL. Chicago was un lively so we continued to the famous alley behind Hong Kong. I then tell my buddies, I have to go Fuck, so we head to Adelitas. There I snag a Tall light skinned beauty. We head up to the Hotel and do the dirty, she was a complete 9/10 looks wise, but in the bedroom I would rate her a 3. I don't mind though, if there super hot I don't expect them to be good in bed. Go back to my friends who are waiting for me, they say they want to go back to the Hong Kong club, and that we do.

Getting across isn't the problem on a Friday. Getting there is. Traffic can be horrible from 3:00 to 7:00, depending on how many wrecks on the 5.

Going back, Sunday afternoons/evenings can be pretty brutal. Late Sat might be better. But I've seen huge lines on Tuesdays, so who knows? The lines are lighter around 3AM.

Are Saturdays better to return than Sundays?Your US insurance is no good. Parking is a pain in the rear and then wanting to check on it all the time is another downer.

This is your first trip so park US and taxi over. Get the lay of the land on foot ( you can always retrieve your car later). Not a lot of need for driving on first trip. Getting back across the border is easier too.

I have drove over 4 times before I knew how foolish I was being ( I think it was a feeling of being safer). Got a dent in my rental once in the parking lot on Ave Rev and paid a $50 fine to policia once when caught driving wrong way on a street.

It is so much better to leave your car on US side. RTFF

Are you sure you want to cross by auto?I'm being referred to a doctor and I have an appt. This Saturday. I've booked a room at the Fiesta Inn on Paseo de los Héroes, Zona Río. The doctor's office is within one block walking distance.

I thought I'd go down Friday afternoon for a bit of fun and frivolity and return north of the border either Saturday or Sunday.

I had planned on taking cabs during my stay. If I take a cab from the hotel to AB, is it the $5 charge I've been reading about? Is Hard Rock Cafe within walking distance of AB or should I take a cab to and from?

Prostitutes in Tijuana Forced to Pay More for Testing

Editor's Note: The price of health cards required for sex workers in Tijuana has increased in what observers say is a "scandalous" and "immoral" setback in the fight against HIV.

TIJUANA, Mexico -- Like thousands of women, Veronica Lizarraga, 18, migrated from the interior of Mexico to Tijuana, where she joined the ranks of the city's prostitutes. She picks up customers as an erotic dancer at Hong Kong, one of the more sophisticated strip clubs in the border town's red light district. Her average weekly earnings: $2,000.

With modern architecture and neon lights, this business employs more than 300 dancers. Most of its customers are foreigners, men from southern California looking for fun and sex that's cheaper than in their country.

In order to work at Hong Kong, Veronica and her colleagues are required to have a health ID card that the local government issues to sex workers. Each month they undergo a series of medical tests for sexually transmitted infections and every four months, for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). If all goes well, the city's Department of Health Control renews their cards.

"Without it (the health card) you can't work here," said Veronica, originally from Mazatlan, Sinaloa.

Earlier this year, health authorities in Tijuana announced a price increase in the medical tests required for sex workers. The annual fee rose from $300 to $500.

This news doesn't worry high-income sex workers like Veronica. But the price increase has had a much greater impact on street sex workers who earn much less, according to Victor Clark Alfaro, director of Tijuana's Binational Human Rights Center.

Clark Alfaro called the price increase "immoral and scandalous." One of its serious consequences, he said, is that "many [sex workers] are going to choose not to go to the doctor."

Health advocates believe that the move is a setback in the fight against the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, particularly HIV and the epidemic of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) that has reached alarming numbers in Tijuana.

It is estimated that one in 125 people between the ages of 15 and 49 is living with HIV in this border town, according to a study by Kimberly C. Brouwer from the University of California in San Diego (USCD).

Guillermo Alonso Meneses, director of the cultural studies department at Tijuana's Colegio de la Frontera Norte (Northern Border School) called Tijuana a "hotbed for a very serious potential public health crisis."

He insisted that these medical tests should be free. "Charging such a vulnerable population for this kind of test is another example of the injustice of the Mexican state," he said, "which already taxes the rich so that it can invest in this kind of thing, not only because of the threat of AIDS but also of other diseases."

The price increase is also worrisome because it coincides with an economic crisis: According to Clark Alfaro, sex workers here have seen a 70 percent decrease in customers.

Earlier this year, before Tijuana increased the price of medical tests for sex workers, the Directorate of Municipal Health (DMS) reported that Tijuana had 1,700 registered sex workers. This number is expected to decrease as a result of the fee hike.

ProstitutesThe fee hike for medical tests required for sex workers has had the greatest effect on those who work in the street. The real figure is a mystery. Ana Cristina Nisifore, of DMS's Department of Health Control, said that the current number of registered sex workers in the city is "confidential." Several employees of the DMS indicated that the only person authorized to discuss the topic of sex workers was the director of the unit, Dr. Miguel Antonio Osuna Millan. However, he did not respond to multiple requests for an interview made by this newspaper.

Gathered in a small room they rent not far from the red light district, representatives of the Mary Magdalene Vanguard Organization of Free Women, which represents 80 sex workers, expressed their disagreement over the sharp increase in the cost of health cards.

Most of the "Magdalenas," as they are known, are from the Southern Mexican states of Tlaxcala, Puebla, Guerrero, Hidalgo and Veracruz, where economic misery forced them to migrate to northern Mexico.

These women are part of the sector of street prostitution. They congregate around several hotels in the red light district, also known as "La Coahuila."

Maribel Ramirez, who used to work in a maquiladora in her hometown of Puebla, said that all members of the "Magdalenas" have a health card.

However, the 30-year-old said she knows several street sex workers who "have no 'card' because of their economic situation." Most of these women are single mothers like her who work to support their children.

After the price increase was announced, the "Magdalenas" negotiated a deal with DMS Director Dr. Osuna Millan. They demanded additional optometric and gynecological services. And although they came to an agreement signed "under protest," they said the new fee they have to pay still seems unfair.

The "Magdalenas" and the dancers at Hong Kong represent just a fraction of the estimated 9,000 sex workers who work in this border town, according to Steffanie A. Strathdee, a researcher with the University of California at San Diego (UCSD).

The low number of women registered with the Health Department - only 1,700 - is a sign that the program is "a failure," Clark Alfaro believes.

Instead of implementing pragmatic policies that encourage more sex workers to get tested, the new increase has had the opposite effect: "You are pushing people into a sector of prostitution that has no guarantees, and where they could fall into the hands of the mafia and unscrupulous customers," said Alonso Meneses.

"The people who approved these increases are idiots," he said. "In Mexico, policies are made by people who don't have their feet on the ground, or don't understand that a fee hike in a time of crisis could disrupt the entire health control program."

The names of the sex workers interviewed in this article were changed for their protection. This report was conducted through a workshop offered by the Institute of the Americas in La Jolla, Calif.

Here's my totally unscientific findings: I went to Azteca Massage a couple of night ago and the bar underneath it (on the second floor) was dark and quiet. Revolution in general was dead. However, the alley and zona clubs were as busy as normal for a Wed. night.

I agree that this was a stupid decision by whoever it was that decided this. Testing should be free. This would definitely help to prevent spreading STD's.They have a full year to make up the difference. That is less then $4 a week.

I think the real impact will be for the new chica to get her initial testing done. For them that is a whole lot of money but for the working chica not so much.

I am sure for a good chica, some one will sponsor her like always.

As far as your math for sessions go, the chicas do not get all the money so it is actually more sessions but still it is less than $4 a week.

I am shipping out for the Middle East before the holidays. I would like the forum's advice in deciding where I should I go for some pre-deployment mongering, as where I am going will be as dry as a bone.

I used to go to Tijuana in 2000, have been to San Jose in 2006, and have made several recent trips to Panama City. I hope to get in a October and an early November trip in, each of a week or less duration.

A short Tijuana trip would have easy logistics. Fewer questions are asked for a pass to Los Angeles. A flight from the east coast (IAD or RIC) isn't too expensive, and hopefully neither are hotels and rental cars in San Diego. I don't know what the current quality of the AB and CC talent is.

Costa Rica requires a cover story. Getting a good rate on a flight and a hotel might require at least a month's advance purchase. I recall the talent in the lobby of the Del Rey ranged from porn star to fryolater operator at the Dairy Queen.

Panama requires a cover story, good rates for flight/hotel. However, I could easily spend a week going through the "sampler package" at Golden Times. (Have they raised their prices?) I am still fascinated by the snap shots I took of one particular CMM (Colombian Mattress Monster)....

So help a fellow monger out. Where would you go if you could do two short (and hopefully not too expensive) trips?

I would ask for San Diego not Los Angeles.

San Diego has Sea World, Miramar (top gun school) and other bases you pick your story.

Flying to SD you will not need a rental car (extra chica money). Take the trolley a mile or so away from airport. Walk or taxi.

Requesting to leave a country you are assigned to is a pain with all the paperwork.

If you request Los Angeles and for some reason, say an accident outside 100 miles of Los Angeles you are in for some explaining as to why you were there. Now San Diego, you are good to the border, sightseeing.

I would also use birth certificate at the border not passport.

Hi I6, seems to me that given the focus of your trip, you'd do better flying into San Diego (SAN) and getting a cab to the border. Several other mongers have posted the various TJ hotels, so why waste mongering $ on a rental car when you can spend it on rental tail?

Just got back from a trip last week. The girls were insane at AB. I woke up the next morning back in the US and wanted to go south for another quick one in the morning. If you have it on you, and if you don't keep the passport card in a closed metal sleeve, it can be from read 10 meters away (with your photo, name, etc). So simply carrying the card is enough to document your travels (in theory - as cards aren't even mandatory yet, who knows what is going on).

Wow, a night to remember.

A first for me in the line coming back. The man in front of me was busted right in line when you present your card/passport.
