Thought I would give a few cents. I flew in San Diego Intl at 2:35 pm. Took the trolly to San Ysidro and was at my hotel by 4:00. .Can you please provide detailed steps on how you did this and time for each phase?
I also go from SD airport to border via trolley and the total takes me much more time. At least 100 minutes.
Example: Airport to Trolley (via public transit): 20 min.
Trolley to Border incl wait time - 70 min.
Walk through border and catch taxi / HK-limo- 10 minutes.
Ride to hotel - 10 minutes.
TOTAL: 110 minutes.
I will be in Tijuana for my first visit in mid November and would arrive from Cabo San Lucas airport. After staying for a day or two I plan to journey to Coronado Island to spend a day as my flight is not until later in the evening. Any recommendations to travel there from Tijuana. I understand there is a ferry on the mainland to the island but don't know the best connections to get over there.

There's also nothing interesting going on in Coronado it looks like Florida. For old people.

That's all it takes to get from the San Diego airport to Centro Tijuana. You exit the terminal and look for the bus stop which you can't miss unless you're blind. Pull up the Pronto app on your phone and just scan to get on the 992 bus. After more or less a 10-minute ride, exit the bus at American Plaza station and get on the blue line trolley to San Ysidro, which takes about 45 minutes. Your initial scan on the bus is good for two hours so no need to scan again. Cross the border and go left when exiting the turnstiles and hop on the van that says Centro. After a 5-10 minute ride, pay 10 pesos as you exit the van at the Burger King on Revolucion.

Last month my friend from Texas and I were waiting in line at Otay to cross into the USA After about 20 minutes we ended up being stopped right in the front where the CBP lets people in. When it was our time to enter, I displayed my passport and my friend was about to pull his out of his back pocket when the agent started to lecture us about not being prepared. My friend asked, "prepared for what?" The agent said to have your passport out. The agent rudely said that he could send us back to the back of the line for not complying. My friend replied by saying, "it is right here" as it took him 2 seconds to pull it out. The agent admonished us again about not being prepared. My friend told him that he wasn't aware of the need to show his passport as it was his first time crossing, of which the agent replied, "Yea, sure. " I started to get hot and told him that he needed to learn some respect, especially when it comes to talking rudely to American citizens. He replied by saying, "I did show you respect. " I told him if that was his idea of respect then he should go get his Supervisor as I have the right to request one. He stated, "You don't have the right to a Supervisor. " I pointed to the sign that says all have that right. But he refused. I then told him, "Both of us help pay your salary through our Federal Withholding taxes" at which time he replied by saying, "That's a bunch of be. S. " he then told us, "Ok, you are going to the back of the line. " My reply was that we were not going anywhere. He then told us rudely, "Go, before you end up getting arrested. " As soon as I got to the agent booth where they check your passport, I requested a Supervisor. One came within two minutes and we shared our experience. She proceeded to say, "I am going to go talk to him now. " I told her that I had never been treated with such disrespect and that if he worked for me that he would be automatically fired. I further stated that the agent was inappropriately exerting his authority over respect for people. She gave me info. On how to file a complaint. I did file one on the CBP site on the internet. I received a response a week later indicating that the CBP takes complaints seriously and that an investigation will take place. Of course they can't give the outcome. So don't put up with this kind of stuff and you have the right not to be refused to speak to a Supervisor.

Before they sue us for any delays. So for fun they pick on men, usually gona be non latino as we stand out more. The grief I get, even with global entry, for being in California when I'm from east coast. You would think I was in Cambodia or Africa. They ask many questions we are not legally required to answer. In fact someone who films them could likely sue. The woman are the worst especially if there's no one behind me now they gona come at me like an angry girlfriend. With the questions. And yes I also had a guy, jump at me with that same shit "what's in your pockets". Instead of going into my pockets I said I don't know, and he grabbed my cell and yelled at me for not knowing my cell was in my pockets. And during this my hands had to be on the table as he patted me down. I was wearing a t shirt no bags at all no jacket and am a white guy. Maybe he wouldn't do it to every skin color.

Too many times I encountered CBP agents who acted more like gang bangers than government employees. It indicates CBP supervisors and managers are not holding them accountable for misconducts. They are far less professional than city and state police.
It's good that you resisted the harassment. It may be risky to confront rogue CBP guys as they can cause inconveniences, may be even physical abuses. They beat to death a Mexican man at San Ysidro crossing a few years back.
Better to note their names, badge numbers, then when you get home, file written complaints to the location managers with specific charges, date, time, location, witnesses ect, then follow up with the case. If CBP won't respond, you can file Small Claim suits against the agents and their managers for $7,500 each. Make them go to court and sweat it out. Judgments will make them look bad. Their names will be in the records.
We have to do the right things to hold government employees accountable and they do their jobs properly and efficiently.

Thanks to the person telling about the bus to Centro. I will have to try that when I am not carrying baggage.I've done the Old Town Flyer route to Old Town Station as well. The convenience there is you don't have to transfer to another trolley. But Old Town Station is further away from San Ysidro than the airport is (north) so it's not necessarily clear that you'd save time given that the Old Town Flyer takes you in the opposite direction of San Ysidro. Maybe you do save a little bit of time depending on the time of day you travel and the amount of time you have to wait to transfer. If you are using the Pronto card (instead of cash), the cost of going to Old Town Station vs. Taking the bus downtown to American Plaza is the same since the transfer from the bus to the trolley is free with the Pronto card.
I've done the taxi ruta to Centro several times even with luggage and never had issues. You would just tell the driver or the worker standing there that you have luggage and they'll put you on a taxi ruta that can accomodate you. They expect double fare if you bring luggage though, so it would be 20 pesos instead of 10. (I usually just give them $2 instead of the usual $1 I give them if I'm paying in dollars which is actually a bit more than that.).

Plans fell through with a girl I was going to meet up with and was going to cancel my trip altogether until the next time our schedules synced up but decided to head out anyway and see if I could find something interesting. Got to HK around 5 and it was kind of slow. Couldn't find any worthwhile prospects. AA announced daily flight from Phoenix to Tijuana starting in August this year. Would be a long drive from Dallas to Phoenix to fly on it.

One reason is that I will be carrying luggage as Tijuana is the end of a trip that starts in Chihuahua. Copper Canyon. Lower Baja. I figure that I could easily store my luggage there at a hotel, bar, or restaurant and use the swimming pool at one of these places. I read you can use the pool if you order lunch, drinks, etc. When I am ready to go to airport for my flight, it will be easy to go there because it's quite close. I am not sure if the other places you mention like Pacific Beach offer the same ease of travel for a half day visit. But I am open to other suggestions.

You can drive down and park free for about 24 hours at the trolley's Palm station and ride it down to the border.
Parking near the border is expensive. The lowest is the lot behind the Burger King on S Ysidro Blvd, like $10 a day, but is usually packed.

If I drive to San Ysidro I park in the trolly parking and ride to the border. If I fly I ride the trolly. I like saving the money to spend in Tijuana.

So from there I just gave her some recommendations of spots to check out in Vegas and we agreed to meet up again the next time we're both in Tijuana.

Was in Tijuana for a couple of days last week. Some observations:
1) Adelitas still closed (which I expected) but what I didn't know is that Hotel Korea (smaller Zona Norte club owned by HK) is also closed, probably permanently? At least that's what I was told when I walked in that main entrance to check it out last week. Never picked up any chicas there but the spot was always good for super cheap beer / drinks.
2) Spent nearly all my time in Zona Norte at HK (stayed at Cascadas). I've seen numerous complaints here about the $30 wine drinks but none of the meseros tried to push those drinks when I was sitting with chicas, only the standard $10 fichas. What I am seeing the meseros push however, both this time and the last time I was in Tijuana back in April, are the $10 food dishes. I get the sense that even if a chica isn't really hungry, there's pressure from the mesero for them to take the food if the guy is OK with buying. Was only $10 so I did end up buying a couple plates for chicas over the course of the two days I was there. But I don't remember these food dishes getting pushed that hard in the past.
3) I think maybe some here complained about having to pay an extra hotel fee even if you are staying at Cascadas? I didn't experience that with any of my arribas. No room fee for 30 minutes since I was already staying at Cascadas. However, an HK chica that usually just comes up to my room before or during her shift declined to do that this time. She insisted I come down and hang out for a drink or two first. Was drunk and the girl doesn't speak English so didn't ask her why. Possible they are being more strict on girls going up to hotel rooms unaccompanied. On my last trip back in late April I was able to do have several girls both who work and don't work at HK come up to my room unaccompanied with no issues. So I'll maybe look into that a bit more next time.
4) There's more construction that usual going on on certain floors in Cascadas. They put me on the 8th floor, which I think is the first time I'd been put on that floor since COVID (back when HK was technically "closed" due to COVID so they moved all the club action to the Penthouse).

Ask for rooms on 6, 7 or 8 floor, quieter, but you will hear some music thumping. Bring ear plugs if you are noise sensitive.
Rooms on 4 and 5 floor may be "sublet" to ST fuckers while you are sitting in the club. Security guys watch security cameras and know when you leave the room. HK's managers and workers are very devious.
You can bring HK girls t your room, no extra charges.
As of 4 weeks ago I was able to bring in street girl, escorts or any girls. But Cascada changes policies and prices quickly. Not sure if they would allow you to bring street girls into your room. You can argue that your rent the room, you can bring in anyone. We would bring in beers, tequila and drinks so we don't have to buy more expensive drinks from their fridge, No problem.
Guys who don't rent a room all night used to rent half hour ST room with street girls for $7. As of last week, Cascada wants $40 for half hour, same rate as bar girls.

It's really a good setup because you have Hotel Cucapa, right next to it is a Soriana so you can get whatever you need, and Marabu is across the street. The area even at night seemed pretty tranquilo to me.

Never been to cueva but I have a coworker who swears by that place. He has several "novias" over there who he loves to spoil with his well accumulated pension hehe. I always advise him to ease up on how much he gives these girls but he says they reciprocate well beyond imagination. He says he prefers going over there because he has never liked the ambiance of the zona and prefers places that are more laid back.

I have basic dental insurance, but like the guy mentioned in the video, it's basically worthless, save for maybe a couple of check-ups a year that get covered. A few years ago was quoted $1000-$1,200 for a deep cleaning in the USA I got the same deep cleaning done at Advanced Smiles in Tijuana for only $200 LOL. Also, most places in the USA Perform deep cleanings over 2 visits. Advanced Smiles did the entire cleaning in one visit, though I did have to be there for 2-3 hours.

I'd imagine the "quality" of dentists in the USA Is a bit better in the USA Than Tijuana, but highly doubt it's nearly enough to justify the price discrepancy, especially for non-major procedures like deep cleanings. Personally, I think the service I've gotten at Advanced Smiles is great and on par with any USA Dentist I've ever been to.
3. I do personally recommend Advanced Smiles, which is located in Zona Rio.
I have had similar dental experience, not in Tijuana but in Mexico border town. Needed deep cleaning and root canal, crown. Thousands less ans good service. In past year I went to upper dentures. Removing my remaining teeth was $10-15 per tooth and dentures $235 complete. Dentist speaks good english, young and attentive and great prices and service.
A friend just got a porcelain on metal crown at Washington Dental in Tijuana for $275 including $28 payment for taxis, said equal to US. Savings paid for trip from IL and some girl money.

Walk past the end of the tracks, bearing left and up a ramp to Mexican immigration and go through and show your passport (not sure what to do if you don't have one). When you exit the building you have to go left and down a long walkway. Where it turns left, there is a sliding gate by a hut you would run into if you didn't turn. Tell the guy Zona Shuttle, slide the gate to the left and go through into a small parking lot. Go to the right and exit onto a street. Looking left you see Zona Shuttle painted red on black on the wall. Walk there and go right and through a bigger parking lot, seeing Zona Shuttle, red on black, on another hut. Exit onto that street and go to the hut and tell them you want the shuttle and wait for the one of their black limos. It starts at 2 PM and runs to 3 AM (not sure about the 3 AM). It takes you to Hong Kong for free but tip the driver. Coming back, you wait for it outside HK and it takes you back to where you got on it. Facing the shuttle hut, you walk left along many shops to get to USA immigration. There is often a line stretching back past the hut in the other direction. If you have a Sentri or Global Entry card, you can walk along the line to skip it and enter the Sentri lane. If not, you may be in for a long wait in the line. Guys will try to sell you line bypass but they just walk you to the front of the line and leave you there to cut in, nothing official about it, just a scam. There is no separate line for US citizens who don't have Sentri / GlobalEntry.

I had a pretty bad snowboarding accident last season and lost three front teeth. Had the bone grafts and implant surgeries done here in Denver. But even with my "good" dental insurance, my out of pocket with my regular dentist was $3200 for the crowns.
Found BioDental Care in Tijuana where price for same was $1600. Everything about the office and dentists was above board professional and top shelf.
I split it into two visits over two weeks and enjoyed 6 Tijuana chicas while visiting.

Comparable to USA prices perhaps? My only complaint is when I went back for a dental guard they sold me a useless soft guard when you need one that is more firm.

It's also nice to be walking distance from the Hotel Ticuan and they also offer the Medical Fast Pass which kicks your vehicle right to the front of the line, saving you hours in the process.

The Cartels have been trying to force or recruit young men in the more rural parts of Mexico for many years. My ex had to worry about this with her family but luckily nothing bad happened. I follow different people on X / Twitter and you see kids around 10 years old that have been recruited into working for the Cartels with rifles. I've also recently saw one post that had the prices the Cartels were willing to pay for different jobs. None of that has anything to do with how things are run in Tijuana and some high profile tourist bar possibly getting shot up.
HK and other bars have been around for a long time and nothing like that has ever happened, and Tijuana in general just look at how many tourists travel there every day yet it's very very rare that a tourist is murdered so that's why I always claim that Tijuana is no different today as far as dangers to tourists as it was before. Does Tijuana have a high murder rate. Yes but the very high majority is Cartels fighting between themselves. So if you are are worried you can not come but with all the shootings in the US I would say that your just as likely to get shot at your local mall.

Scudrucker.#1 - In my opinion not worth it to pay for more than a single but I'm cheap (prefer the word frugal LOL) and low-maintenance. But if you've never checked out the larger rooms before and want to see if it's worth it, maybe go for it just to see how different your experience is. Rooms are 70% off Mondays and Tuesdays, and 20% off all other days with the VIP card.
#2 - Other than OXXO there's the Soriana Supermarket on Revolucion maybe 500 feet or so from the huge Arc that will have everything you listed. Licores Cactus is a liquor store I go to about a third of a mile down Revolucion (but a block or so off the main drag) that I like to go to for liquor and liquor accessories, though not sure off the top of my head if they sell all the products you listed.
#3 - Stopped using cabs in Tijuana a long while back unless absolutely necessary. Ubers, shared taxis, or walking for me. Uber or Didi (Uber-like app used very frequently in Tijuana) will always be cheaper than a cab.
As far as breakfast, the Senda Norte across the street from HK (next to Tropical) might be worth checking out there. Never had breakfast there but did have a late night dinner which was fairly good. A chica who I've known for a long time recommended me Mantequilla and Sabor A Mi as breakfast spots in Tijuana to check out. Went to Sabor A Mi and thought it was pretty good, though personally didn't think it was anything special or anything like that. Both are popular spots though. In my opinion, orange juice tastes weird in Mexico. Love it in the states but don't like the flavor down there. I'm not an early bird and breakfast has never been my thing anyway.

Since between now & the end of the year I can only visit on weekends taking a deeper look into other options than HK & Tropical expensive rooms. The La Cueva hotel is much cheaper & it seems drinks are cheaper too.
The club has an attached hotel available for overnights & also an attached restaurant. Seems to be owned by HK group. Restaurant menu is close to same options & prices.

I have been there several times. It completely reminds me of the old Las Chavelas next to Hong Kong. 1. Not sure how strong the Canadian dollar is right now, but you may get a better exchange directly from CAN to MXN.
2. Adelitas has reopened, but none of these hoes getting $120. Especially not an Adelitas chica. HK is the only place I would drop that, and only if she's a 10 and I've negotiated up to 45 m or 1 h. Start your negotiations absurdly low, like 1000-1200 pesos. She's going to be looking for 2000. If you meet in the middle at 1500 that's about $85.
3. I've stayed at cascadas & rizo. I tend to favor rizo, I think they're a little less trafficked and the building seems to be quieter because the club isn't directly underneath, it's a little offset. Also most of the floors are carpeted so you don't get the constant "click clack" of stripper heels. I always wear headphones to bed so it doesn't bother me much anyways. I'the give Coahuila a try if they had a website or any way to book in advance. While I've had some great girls at CC, Jalos is a no go for me. Not nearly as clean as other zona hotels and no AC. I've also stayed in the larger suites with poles & hot tubs, etc. Honestly not worth it unless you're with friends in a group and need the space, otherwise the single rooms do just fine.
4. A typical American breakfast is cheap and tasty at both Azul (in cascadas) & senda Norte (in Rizo) - both have eggs, potatoes, toast, pancakes, etc. But also carry desayuno de Mexicano if you're looking for something local. I believe you can also get room service breakfast right to your door.
5. The $30 wine bottles are new to me, but I've learned that your best friend in this situation is the word "no". If they won't take no for an answer and try to hassle you, get up and leave. There is always another person in the zona willing to treat you right for your hard earned dollar.
6. For supplies I just walk up constitution. 1 block past Ibiza is a pharmacy on your left for those who like a little performance enhancement, or if you encounter the dreaded montezumas revenge. 2 more blocks past that on the right is a Calimax grocery store. They will have everything else you need. Snacks, drinks, liquor, cups, etc. One piece of great advice. Buy a pack of TP and hide it in your room closet. Concierge will bring you a half used roll of TP and expect a tip everytime. I've seen chicas use a whole roll themselves for prep & clean up. Save yourself some tip $$ and buy a dollar pack of 4 rolls. You'll thank me later.
7. Don't take cabs, prices are inconsistent if your Spanish is bad. You'll get charged "gringo price". Also your trip isn't logged, you don't know who you're riding with. Take Uber, all trips are logged, you can see who's picking you up, and if your have a problem you have English speaking Uber support, while not great, it's more than you have if you wind up getting jacked in a back alley by a cabbie and his 5 friends. I've found that Uber is consistently cheaper than cabs, and cheaper in Mexico overall. Also you don't need a credit card in Mexico, you have the option on the Uber app to pay cash.

Scudrucker.I've been exclusively using my credit card for my Cascadas hotel room for the past few years now. Basically for the same reason as you, to free up the cash I bring across the border to spend in the clubs. Never had any problems using credit cards for my room. You can put both your hotel room and the VIP membership card fee on a credit card, though the $30 refundable deposit for the room has to be paid in case (they give you that cash deposit back though after you check out).
If using a credit card would look to use a card that doesn't charge foreign transaction fees. Fees here can range from 1-3% of the purchase though there are several cards that have no foreign transaction fees. So would definitely be conscientious of that.

I prefer parking at the 8th av trolley station. It is a quiet station with no problems. I save a lot of gas and do not have to deal with evening border traffic. The traffic near the border can be a real zoo at times. The only big downside is that the last trolley leaves San Ysidro. So this means you have to allow extra time to cross back to catch the last trolley.

I bought a ticket this past Sunday around 12:30 pm, shuttle departed around 1 pm, and I was across the border by 2 pm, even with the longer than expected wait in traffic. The alternative would have been to stand and wait in the pedestrian line, which looked like a 3-4+ hour wait based on the length of the line.
Both options are only $10. My opinion is if it's looking like more than a 90 minute wait in the pedestrian line or if you're otherwise in a hurry, the shuttle is definitely the better option. There's also the convenience here of getting to sit down while waiting to get through customs vs. Having to stand up in line the entire time.

Tijuana has still not recovered from Covid, in the sense that many shops and restaurants are closed. Revolucióand has an additional problem of construction closing down long stretches.
Hong Kong bar has expanded, but by cannibalizing the other bars in the Zona. Soon, HK will be an island in an area empty of bars.
Bar Tropical was dead today. Never seen it so empty.
Lots of signs for meseras. At the same time, the percent of locals in the bars has increased. It's a sign that an improving economy. More men in the Zona, less ladies. And the percent of ladies in HK with expensive surgery is way up. At $100+ for Short Time, it makes economic sense, let's say 5 STs a week is $25,000+ a year income, so investing $5000 for surgery pays off.
The expansion of Hotel Adelitas has halted, and it looks to be a bit of a hazard, with shoddy scaffolding hanging in the air over the Callejon.

CC was dead as dead gets around 2014 to about 2018. I would always walk in for my first stop of the night and talk to a waiter I knew and have a drink. Sometimes it was so empty I told him sorry and would leave. Something changed around 2018 and my waiter was gone but they had more girls and started to get more clients. In March if 2020 just before COVID it was great.

Many in Tijuana have wanted to get rid of the Zona and make it more tourist friendly. They've had a plan fir many years to make a large pedestrian bridge connecting Plaza America directly into the Zona and to build that area up so that it would invite tourists to visit all the way to Revolution. With the rise in housing demand if they can get enough money behind it there is the possibility of the bars getting thrown out and possibly sending them east to a designated area of the city like in other parts of Mexico that you pay to enter this Zona.
Tijuana has a female mayor along with the state governor is a female and they have been working very hard for more women's rights and protection. Next year Mexico will elect its first female president and more than likely to be the same party as the other females. So in those six years of her reign it will be interesting to see if this is the opportunity to make a change. The biggest obstacle might be the migrant issue at this time since that makes it harder for the US to back a more open pedestrian bridge which would require more agents.

I headed back the next day (yesterday) to meet up with one of my regulars. We spent around 6 hours together.
