The best advice ever, every visitor to MX should take heed.
I learned this on the ground.
Wear a cheap watch or no watch at all. Get rid of all other jewelry.
Have some extra reserve cash in your sock, shoe or sidled up to your sweaty balls just in case.
Make sure to have 1 piece of ID (very important)
Have your cash (not wallet with credit cards etc) in one hand and phone in the other.
Always be ready to pull them out simultaneously when the moment arises.
Show both hands contents to the Police and put your hands on the wall and invite them to search your pockets.
Do NOT hand them your cash or phone, they will allow you to hold it if you show them that is all you are holding.
Hopefully you are not dumb enough to have anything else in your pockets and all will be ok.

Tijuana has some very good-looking, street girls, just the tall, slim pretty types I like.
I always feel Tijuana street girls are more real, down to earth, honest, nice, clean, fresh, sexy like civvies, compared to HK girls who are too professional, some even look like tattooed US ghetto hoes.

I was taken for $40 while driving back to the states in a car this week at 3 am Friday morning. First time was on Calle Ninos Heroes by the alley a month ago. This time was Calle Primera near Heroes. Again I'm always cordial so I don't get the bad cop treatment.

When I go there is take a taxi from the border to AB and I only walk around the block to the alley and back again into AB when I'm ready to return I grab a Libre to the Sentri. The more time you spent indoors the safer you are. Don't stay outside standing on the same spot for too long because you can be a target for police search, always keep moving talk to the girls but never be standing alone.
Watch out for deported gang members hiding around the block from Chicago bar also people please don't chase those Gringas heroin junkies because they are STD dangerous and they do have a gang member for pimp I've seen them.

If you drive down to Tijuana in a Sentri car, you can pretty much cross the border back and forth in 10 minutes each time.
You can practically use your lunch time and money for a nooner everyday with the chicas.

I guess I won't be bringing my super Cialis over the border anymore. And to think they were moving in a new direction, I guess it was just wishful thinking to expect them to make those shake down changes permanent. True, they are not illegal to possess. However, the cops are always looking for a way to fuck with people and extract mordidas. Many board members have personal experience with this. So, if you've been stopped with these on your person, and not hassled by the fuzz, we really want to know about it.

EDs are advertised and sold without prescription at hundreds farmacias in Tijuana. I don't see how policia can arrest anyone carrying ED or any normal OTC drugs.
In about 2005-2008, the most corrupt years under Jorge Hank Rhon, I was stopped and searched twice by 2 bunches of policias on the way back after midnight on the dark street towards the foot bridge. I had my wallet and money out in both hands. The wallet had some blue pills but they were only searching my pockets for bags of drugs, not my wallet.
Both time I was let go quickly without any hassle. One case I was walking fast to get away from the dark street near the present taxi pickup. The next time I looked at the fat cops hanging out under the bridge and said Hi to them. So I made myself suspicious.
A long time monger in Tijuana (starting in his teen in mid 60's) was always walking back and forth with his back pack carrying EDs and various pain medicines without concerns. He usually wear baggy shorts, hooded sweatshirt, with his craggy hair and unkempt beard, looking like a bum, well, he is a surfer dude, so he IS a bum, but he has never been searched or arrested.
The risks are dependent on the individuals, his appearance, attitudes, time, locations and the cops etc. So take your own risks.
I am always walking around, hanging out at various places around the block, watching policias check, search, let go or arrest guys. It seems they have gotten far more professional in the past few years with new crops of young, well-trained, well-paid cops. They seem to know their targets and have not bothered me or my wingmen.
If they stop and ask for your IDs and you don't have valid IDs, they will load you into their pick up trucks and take you back to the station for the judge to sort them out. This happens to a lot of Mexicans. But they never asked foreigners for ID's. They are after Mexican drugs dealers on the streets who show no IDs.
When you are near policias, it's best to act normal and don't call attention to yourself. Don't try to speed up, run away, change direction, or cover up your face and raise their suspicion.
The new Mexican policias are not stupid, arbitrary, abusive or corrupt as some may indicate. You can always go with them to the station and seek justice on the spot from the judges.

Two weeks ago I thought my luck ran out as a cop waived at me while I was walking down Constitution in the Zona. We locked eyes as I approached but apparently It was a mistake because he was actually stopping a Mexican national for a pat down. The other guy was walking right behind me. And I just continued walking. Anyways I think that its ok as long as the pills are in its original packaging. Well I'm hoping at least.

Foreigners visiting LZ are almost always asked to produce ID when they are stopped by the policia.
It is pretty standard for the Policia to ask for ID from both locals and visitors.

Lastly, in order to further the collective knowledge of this board, how many times have you, personally, sought justice from the judge at the station? How long did it take you to get said justice?

About vets knowing the ficha amount is BS because no one knows for sure how much is the total they have to make a day everybody guess.
Every individual had a diferent experience. Just like a driving record You can be driving for 30 years and have all kind of shit including accidents, DUIs, arrests, and parking tickets, I've been driving for 32 years including commercial and motorcycle with zero accidents and a perfect driving record is this mean I am lucky or a very good driver. I don't think It has nothing to do with luck, is all about avoiding situations and places where can get you in trouble.
I've seen the bad monger and the good monger, I know a few Tijuana visitors like myself they been going to Tijuana for many many years but never got a shake down.
Some people are like magnets for the cops doesn't matter if you're in Mexico or the US. I am not lucky I am a law abiding and I don't wonder outside the zona it worked for me for 20 years. Only place I feel comfortable outside the zona Norte is Zona Rio.
A going solo Gringo in Tijuana is always a target for the cops because you're not in Cancun or Mazatlan on a beach vacation they know why you're there either for sex or to buy drugs. Who ever tell you different is full of shit. I met a Gringo walking toward Tijuana and I say what's up going to see the girls, and he replied NO I am going for the fish tacos. LOL I said sure you are.

once in a taxi. This is a first, they probably pullover the taxi driver not the passenger. They do stop taxis I've seen it, but usually without passenger.

This was perhaps back in 2005. I was in Ensenada for a fishing trip.
One afternoon I was driving South on the main street along the malecon. Traffic was light so I ran a stop sign, then found 2 cops sitting in a patrol Sentra waiting on my right. So I did a stop in the middle of the intersection. The cops followed and stopped me. I argued that the stop sign was obscured by the big tree and I could not see it.
The cop asked what hotel I was staying and was going to write a ticket. I suggested that I was willing to pay the fine on the spot. He looked at me with disgust, then took my CA driver license and told me to follow him to the station.
At the station I was told to give the keys to the front desk and was taken to the judge office. The judge was in street clothes, sitting alone in his office with his boots on his desk. No one was waiting. The cop talked rapidly to the judge. I was not sure what he was accusing me of. Finally the judge said, guilty of running stop sign, fine 500 pesos. Was driving back at about noon approaching the arc. Saw a moto cop stopping a California car, so was driving very conservatively.
Took the mobile phone out of the pocket to get comfortable, saw the missed calls message, so quickly glance at the screen. Boom! The moto cop was on my ass telling me to pull over. He's the old gruffy guy with a big mustache.

He led us back to Coahuila. I was beeping my horn for him to stop. He finally stopped and motioned for me to park across the street from Chicago Club. I told him we had $48 left. He checked out the pile, gesturing and saying too many cameras here. He then asked us to wrap the money in paper and took it. He asked us where we were heading so he could escort us there, presumably to avoid another tickets. He he zipped away from us near the Cathedral on Ninos Heroes. We had to spend half an hour driving around in downtown Tijuana to find the SENTRI lane back to the US.
Damnn I thought I was good. But this is the first time I have been screwed by Tijuana cop and had to give in to their demand.

If you'd have been issued a ticket, regardless of the amount, you would have mailed your fine to an address in California. I think this place is a must for anyone who has ever been to Tijuana.It is called the "La Corriente" it was on Revo and If my directions are correct east of Ticuan hotel / Las pulgas club heading away from the zona. The best "fish" ahi tacos I have ever had, ceviche, etc. It's a Fresh fish joint. Very local crowd. And these very tasty mescal drinks. The place was the best and tops on the evening. I was not even very hungry. It would have been better on an empty stomach.
La Corriente is on Calle 6, between Madero and Negrete. Ticuan is on Revu and Calle 8.
It would be nice to hear more thumbs up or down st girls / names / locations on this forum.Too many SGs for me to figure out.

During the peak period between 8 PM to midnight, the best-looking girls would be busy, disappearing in the hotel very 10,15 minutes. If you are looking for any specific chicas, you may have to hang out in the alley and wait half hour or so for them to come back out.

Basically, head to the airport but keep going. The road bends to the right, away from the border. The first big intersection is Bellas Artes. Keep going. Next intersection is Humboldt (you'll see Negro Durazo). Keep going.
You'll come to this spaghetti intersection. You'll want to go straight until the first "major" exit (not the first side-street fork) that loops around to the right. It should be marked something to the effect of Blvd. Industrial (Industrial is the main drag that parallels Bellas Artes). Loop around to the right and this will put you onto Industrial.
If you miss the turn-off, take the first right. You'll see the City Express Junior hotel. Go to the corner stoplight and turn right. This puts you onto Tecnologico. Just follow that, it will bend right and then dump you onto Industrial.
Once on Industrial, past the major intersection, keep an eye out for this dumpy little strip center on your right. It has a bunch of different restaurants. An Argentinian place, an Italian joint, a Subway, etc. , etc. Chewin's occupies a couple of doors nearer the north end of the center. One half of the place is tables, the other half is tables and a large grill pit. Try not to sit near the juke box if you value your hearing.
As Tom said, Google is your friend and will help with the somewhat confusing turns.

Actually what I have seen Hong Kong's security would let most people in. Sometimes they check ID of young-looking guys to make sure. They rarely but will deny entries to known gangs, not based on how good the guys look. On week nights with no cover, all these poor young guys go in and out all the time.

Street Girls (often referred to as paraditas) usually have current health cards. Just about all Street Girls stand directly in front of LZ hotels that rent out S / T rooms (in one place).
Street girls are most densely located in front of hotels located on the alley and on Constitution between Coahuila Ave. & Pimera (1st street). In lesser numbers, Street Girls are also located on Primera, Nino Heroes, and the portion of Coahula Ave. In front of Hotel Garcia / La Gloria Bar. All of those areas are at least half a block from Rizo de Oro's single entrance. Some Street Girls will travel to Rizo de Oro with clients they know. Even fewer Street Girls will travel to Rizo de Oro (or other hotels) with a new client that they don't know.
Since the back (alley) entrance to Cascades Hotel is in close proximity to where many Street Girls stand, Many more (but certainly not all) Street Girls are willing to travel to Cascasdes for a paying cita with an unknown client.
By contrast, Street Walkers usually Do Not have healthcards. They tend Not to stand in one place, like in front of SG hotels, but instead can be found most often walking on the sidewalks in LZ (hence the term "walkers" The few street walkers willing to linger in one spot tend to stand around the west end of the alley, Primera, and the crossroads (the crossroads is the intersection of Constitution and Coahuila). Street Walkers tend to be far less picky on where they are willing to go with any paying client, new or well-known to them.

In the alley you have SG that have a working arrangement with their specific SG hotel and work orders from someone controlling them, like a boyfriend / padrote.
Different SG hotels on the alley impose different work rules on their street girls, and some SG's, either by seniority or demand, can sometimes carve out special rules for themselves.
The three cheapest SG hotels on the alley are the Eduardo, Cuartos Teresa and Cuartos Venicia are all shitholes, and their operators know it. Consequently these three SG hotels (and the El Patron which is also on the west part of the alley) do not stand in the way of their paraditas making money by generally allowing them to travel to their customer's hotels if the customer wants. So for the street girls that work out of those four SG hotels, they will decide to go to the monger's hotel room strictly based on their comfort with the monger and if the money is right. This it true also for the walkers that tend to hang with SGs near the west end of the alley. Most of the walkers in that west area of the alley go regularly to the Hotel San Jose or the Humbala located on Nino Heroes, which are two other shithole hotels that don't give a crap if their regular chicas go off to service mongers elsewhere.
Now compare that to some of the SG hotels on the east side of the alley. Both the Hotel Mini and the hotel (Coahuila?) above Bar Valentina strictly forbid their chicas from leaving the premises during their shifts to go service some drooling monger in some other hotel where the monger is staying. There is a security guard that often sits on a stool outside of Bar Valentina (in between the bar and hotel entrance). That security guard is not there just to discourage trouble and keep an eye out for who enters and exits Bar Valentina. He is also there to make sure that "their" chicas all go up only into the upstairs hotel. The hotel above Bar Valentina (next door to Casades) does not rent rooms to overnight guests, so they are 100% dependent on collecting just S / T rentals and they fiercely watch their girls to make sure that no revenue is lost.
The Hotel Mini enforces their 'leash rules' primarily by getting their Mini street girls to rat on each other when a Hotel Mini street girls goes off to a monger's room during her shift. I'm not sure if their are 'leash rules' imposed by the other three SG hotels on the east side of the alley. Hotel 8075 is very new and the El Burro apartments are rarely used by myself and other mongers I know. I also don't know the policy of El Porton since the only chica I've regularly pulled from that SG was so senior that she (Maricela) seemed free to go wherever she wanted during her shift.
Related to this is the policy maintained by the Hacienda Hotel located near the school girl corner. Street girls working out of the Hacienda Hotel are free to travel to other hotels during their shifts, but when a 'traveling' SG returns to her post, she has to first stop into the Hacienda Hotel's oficina and pay the hotel 60 pesos so the hotel didn't lose out on revenue by letting the SG travel. This policy has been told to me and other mongers by the HH street girls and it is customary for HH SGs to add on a demand for 60 extra pesos during negotiations if the monger asks them to travel to his hotel during the negotiation process.
From around year 2003 till around year 2011 Cascades Hotel used to charge their overnight guests joiner fees if the hotel guest took up more than one chica during his 24-hour hotel stay. During that period of time Hotel Cascades generally didn't allow their own street girls to travel, since that represented lost revenue. Some street girls who were very senior, like my Tijuana ex-esposa Sandra de Veracruz, were allowed to travel to other hotels, but Sandra had to go upstairs, put on regular clothes, and exit (and re-enter) Cascades via their north entrance on Coahuila Ave. Once they got rid of the joiner fee, Cascades became more lax on which SGs could travel as well as allowing them to walk directly from the Cascades lobby into the alley with their "dates".
Big bars, like AB, CC, HK & BT will always have doormen at their main entrances that, among other duties, make sure that their bar chicas are only taken arriba into their associated hotels if no bar fine is collected.
These rules imposed by specific SG hotels tend to be more restrictive of their newer chicas. Similarly newer, younger SG chicas are more likely to be pressed hard under the thumb of their boyfriend / padrotes and are likely to be less free to travel to monger hotels away from their regular SG hotels.
So ExoticSpirit: Whether a SG is allowed and willing to travel with you to your room at Cascades, is based on a lot of individualized criterion that will often impose a veto vote despite her good rapport or sense of safety with you.

Cascadas is my primary hotel for street girls. I often get a daily Cascadas room with the first girl of the day, usually a HK girl. I then keep the room for rest and for additional girls (usually a total of 2 or 3 per day). My sleeping is usually done outside of Zona Norte.
In the future, if a street girl won't go to one of my preferred hotels, I plan on just moving to the next girl. Of course, sometimes the little head may take control and I'll again find myself cleaning up with toilet paper and pissing in a filthy toilet that doesn't flush.

Recently there were multiple reports of rateros' choking on Calle Primera near hotel Enva and further West near the now-defunct Nikki's BBQ restaurant. I think one of the posters here, may be ILikeBigButts, got chokeholded near hotel Enva a few months back, but managed to shake the attackers off. The perps usually work in pairs.
Various reports indicated trannies hang out on Calle Primera from El Arco all the way West to Nikki's and hotel Velario, with pick pocketing attempts and policia shake downs. Besides the trannies, the women who hang out on Calle 1 are disgustingly ugly and obese. I don't think hotel Enva is worth considering for the newbies due to the walking distance from Coahuila, ugly women and risks of assaults and robberies.
The newbies would have the best time, making the best use of their time with the prettiest chicas in HK and the alley, by staying in hotel Cascada where they can take Hong Kong and alley chicas with no additional charges.

She was always grinding me for more money or stuff as a part of her endearing charm when we spent minutes together.
If you are not a recognizable regular to LZ, or if you've experienced resistance before in getting SGs to meet your travel objectives within La Zona. Getting a room at Rizo de Oro, which is distanced somewhat from the SG scene, will only make your efforts even greater in convincing a SG to go with you to your room (if that is your objective).

The reception desk is on street level, but the rooms are about 5 feet down below. You have to walk down an steep and open staircase with slippery tiles to get down to the rooms. If you are drunk or high, make sure you hang on tight to the putas while going down. A fall from that height to a hard tile floor may break a few bones.

LZ can get hot & humid like a swamp and back then only those two LZ hotels had air conditioning, with Coahuila's being better. El Porton opened in 2006 or 2007 and I think air conditioning was added to some of the Rizo de Oro rooms sometime after those years.
So I was checked into Hotel Coahuila above Adelitas on one particularly hot and uncomfortable Summer day in 2005 or 2006. I was going into Adelitas, not seeing any chica that interested me. So I would leave Adelitas Bar and go to Constitution and the alley that hot summer day and pull a SG in for duty in my room. I took up six or seven different street girls, including La Reyna Guadalupe and another La Ribera SG named Veronica together for a poor quality threesome.
Well the guy operating the desk of Hotel Coahuila grew annoyed that I wasn't bringing up any bar girls from Adelitas. As I brought up my last (6th or 7th) paradita I gave the guy a dollar and he issued us a towel, soap and condom. Before 2008 that walk used to be full of people and tourists shopping, having fun. Now it's deserted. We have been and are still in a global recession since 2008. Business has been so slow, only about 25% of taxis are still running. I have not seen any Yellow cabs lately. They used to be the largest, most aggressive and rudest cabbies group in Tijuana. Perhaps they went out of business.
Occasionally in the afternoon I would find Brenda hang out near hotel Enva. Years ago I used to fuck this shy, gentle girl when she was 18 YO starting to work in front of hotel Cascada. She has now aged, looking tired with lots of mileage. She would do BBBJ, BBFS and anal for her regular customers.

DF is on the north side of Primera, between El Fracaso and Dragon Rojo (or whatever it's called now, I think they changed the name?) It's a door front. You pay the lady on the right as you enter, then go downstairs to the rooms. It used to be pretty grim. The most often used ST rooms were just cubicles along the right. IIRC (It's been a while) there was just a sink outside the cubicles. I forget, but about 2 or 3 years ago they did a major remodel. After remodel, the cubicles now have a shower. If you proceed "out the back" the rooms were newer with new fixtures and showers. IIRC, towels were extra. It was always 50 P for half an hour, 100 P for an hour. I never inquired about all night and would never dream of it. It's certainly not "nice" but it's far better than it used to be, and is way better than the shitbag Rio Nilo, Eduardo, etc.
I never saw those pix, but if they are a few years old, then they probably are pretty depressing.

Because I found that unfairness to be so offensive that I ignore the police, hailed down a Taxi Libre and off we went. People behind me saw that and did the same thing.
Conclusion. The Yellow Cabs try. But it seems that most locals shun the yellow cabs leaving them to cater to mostly gringos who would put up with the higher pricing and BS.

Many BG's prefer taking yellow cabs because they say they are more secure. They've said that yellow cab trips are logged while libre trips are not, when picked up on Coahuila.

The bathrooms in the overnight rooms are the smallest bathrooms I have seen outside of facilities in RV's boats or planes.
Hotel Irma in located towards the bottom of the hill and is separated from hotel La Ribera by an entrance to a parking lot where Guadalupe stands. Hotel Irma takes up the entire second floor of a large white building with the oficina and their main stairway in the center. I've stayed overnight at the Hotel Irma more than a dozen times. The rooms that face Constitution have no bathrooms and are used strictly for S / T sessions ever since the bathrooms at the end of the hallway were removed in order to add a second staircase to the street. By comparison to El Legado, the overnight rooms at Hotel Irma are spacious. Their large square open bathrooms, with showers that can spray the toilets, are maybe greater than 50 square feet. In other words, the bathrooms at Hotel Irma are almost as large as the hotel rooms at El Legado. Cleaning and maintenance at Hotel Irma are not up to the standards of anyone who has them, despite the fact that no other hotel in LZ has hotter water on tap to use for cleaning.
Both hotels rent overnight for 200 pesos, plus they collect 50 pesos joiner fees for extra (more than one) chicas (sometimes at El Legado the joiner fees are negotiable when you check in on a weekday and / or poorly enforced. Hotel Irma does not rent overnight rooms on Friday or Saturday nights. I've written primers on many of the bar girl & street girl hotels with lots of details on each one, but I'll wait to post them.

I think the terms you used in differentiating the streets might be incorrect. I believe Coahuila Ave. Is the correct name for the main east-west street that contains entrances to Bar Tropical, Adelitas and the main entrance to Hong Kong Bar. The Attorney General's Office reported that the Females showed traces of physical violence as bullet wounds to the head, chest and abdomen that caused sudden death. His companion showed similar head injuries but upon arriving Red Cross lifeguards noticed that still had vital signs at he entered the hospital aforementioned where he died moments later.
At the crime scene six shell casings gun squad. 38 Super was collected, but no information is provided regarding the mechanics of the events in which both were killed. Although unofficially it was found that apparently the deceased worked as sex worker in the infamous Zona Norte, the individual his girlfriend and where found empty beer cans.
