Every exchange / cambio has two numbers displayed. The spread between those numbers is how the shop makes money.
The LOWER number is how many pesos you will get for $1. You want this number to be as HIGH as possible.
The HIGHER number is how many pesos it costs to get $1 back. You want this number to be as LOW as possible.

I have taken the shuttle to trolley line. It is more difficult to catch the shuttle bus (rental car bus now serve this too) - and the bus ride goes through a private road surrounded by prison like fencing and you need to alert driver to make special stop at palm st.
That stop feels like middle of nowhere. Then you walk two blocks (on a crappy road) to the middle town station.
I only did this because I was heading the opposite direction of Mexico. I was going to Old Town.
So, I only recommend shuttle to Middletown trolley if you going to / from north towards old town.
I recommend 992 if are going to / from south -eg Tijuana. Which this forum is all about.
