The pedestrian crossing into Mexico is different than the pedestrian crossing into the USA. You do not have to show your passport or I'd to get into Mexico, you simply walk across. In all my years going back & forth, I have never been asked to produce I'd to get into Mexico. Only once have I been asked to show what was in my bag, it was a big bag for a week stay. They just asked me what I was bringing in, I unzipped it and said "my clothes", they didn't even look through or touch anything, just said to proceed. That's rare, as I've never had my backpack searched for weekend stays.
You'll be fine getting in to Mexico if you're traveling light.

KegEven when I cross over to do a over nighter and I have a backpack. At OM crossing, they will ask you to press that stupid button to randomly check those crossing in. Had the itch last night, headed to Tijuana after work last night around 11pm, arrived in Tijuana at 3am, I was so surprised when I went inside hk bar, really like a ghost town, a few chicas dancing, really really slow night, I remember I was there bfre and it was a Sunday too, but it was busy. So I'm wondering, after a rather average set of opportunities at HK this week, how is the hotel at AB to stay in? So this is a consolidated review of 2 visits to Tijuana. Last Dec around 22nd and last Thursday. Standard border crossing process nothing out of the way. Taxi ride to the Zona – 6 bucks. Both the time went to Hong Kong first and was disappointed by the quality and quantity of talent. Mostly 6s – 7s somehow the vibe didn't cut it. To top it endless pestering by meseros is also annoying. Drinks are also most expensive. Ended up at Adelitas both the times. Adelitas also was rough with most of the stunners either not back from vacation or were already taken. Any who after about 30 minutes and couple of beers was able to get chica of my liking come and join me. Bought about 3 – 4 lady drinks (cerveza and tequila shots) felt good vibes and we went arribaa. Standard process. 30 minutes of time well spent. Session activities included CBJ, CG, RCG, Doggy, Hard finish on Mish. My favorita will be back end of this month, so GFE action next time. Last December there was a bike accident just after revolucion. Was held up for 15 – 20 minutes as polize had closed traffic; uncomfortable wait. Did my twice a year trip to Tijuana. Parked next to Chicago Club just to stick my head in and it was dead so Adelitas here I come. Did not actually count heads but say 30-45 girls working. Finally finished up business in San Diego and managed my trip to Tijuana. We went in HongKong about 3 years ago with a bro, an unmarried guy in his early 50's. He went with me to HK many times and was happy every time he took a girl arriba. This time time he just hang out, did not take a girl.

so this is my first report on the tijuana blog, but i used to pose alot on the usa posts all the time. i will report on my second visit to tijuana last week which was by far the best trip i've taken in a long time:

You enter through a curtain and immediately see a large room where you can either proceed forward or make a hard left. The stage prevents any other choices. If you proceed forward you will funnel past the bar on your right and the stage on your left. After passing the stage and bar, you can then make a hard left. The setup is more or less a sideways you with the stage in the middle of the you. The male's bathroom is at the far left corner.
Adelita's focuses on the Hispanic customers and the staff made no attempt to speak in English when using the PA system. Unless you find someone fluent in Spanish and English, it will make for a difficult time. Some waiters / girls do speak English. I would say on Halloween and the Day of the Dead, the average female in Adelita's fell in the 6-7 range with a few 8's, and perhaps one 9. There were no 10's in sight like others reported on here. I observed the movement and people for about 45 minutes. Lots of costumes everywhere for Halloween. Far more men than women to say the least.
The announcer started talking with me and offered his recommendations. He pointed out several of the females he said preferred to get lady drinks instead of going upstairs. Sure enough she would try to get every man in the bar to buy her drinks. Had several offers to immediately go upstairs from the rather pushy / bold girls who weren't all that attractive and outside the size I prefer women. I was remarking about the overall size, like Amazonian, not exclusively wide bodies. The girls there were not as fat as they were large. Many of them dwarfed the men in size comparison. I observed the folks to get the lay of the land so to speak. It seems Adelta's presents a better option for a few friends to look for chicas more so than an individual, especially is Spanish proves challenging. In regards to being unattractive, I saw many men who fall in the attractive range getting the brush off from chicas. There is no such thing as an approved list for the girls but I would speculate that even they have there own standards. So if you happen to be an unattractive person in some way your less likely to get lots of attention.
Funny, but I also noticed a huge drop off in talent on Halloween night. My theory is that many of these girls are single mothers and they're spending this night taking their kids out instead of working. Or they're preparing for the next day which is a big Mexican holiday where families visit deceased family. It's their day of remembrance.
Anyways, I do agree that there seems to be a couple of very tall girls on Halloween and I couldn't tell whether they were on extra high heels or not. They tend to dominate the center of the club. I'm guessing that they use their size to push the shorter girls to the side.

In HK, there is one girl who I like to chat with and she tells me not to buy her a ficha because they cost to much money and she drinks water. She tends to sit with me for 5 minutes, then move about, and then return to chat with me for another 5 minutes. That cycle continues all the time I'm in the bar (unless I'm with another girl). Every now and then I take her upstairs or give her a tip. She simply doesn't want me to buy her the ficha drinks.
I enjoy chatting with the girls and learning whatever I can about their world. But mostly, I see the ficha process as a way to learn if she is going to be fun arriba. I figure each ficha typically costs me $10 ($8 for drink, $1 for waiter, $1 for girl); in my mind that is money well spent. You enter through a curtain and immediately see a large room where you can either proceed forward or make a hard left. The stage prevents any other choices. If you proceed forward you will funnel past the bar on your right and the stage on your left. After passing the stage and bar, you can then make a hard left. The setup is more or less a sideways you with the stage in the middle of the you. The male's bathroom is at the far left corner.
Adelita's focuses on the Hispanic customers and the staff made no attempt to speak in English when using the PA system. Unless you find someone fluent in Spanish and English, it will make for a difficult time. Some waiters / girls do speak English. I would say on Halloween and the Day of the Dead, the average female in Adelita's fell in the 6-7 range with a few 8's, and perhaps one 9. There were no 10's in sight like others reported on here. I observed the movement and people for about 45 minutes. Lots of costumes everywhere for Halloween. Far more men than women to say the least.
The announcer started talking with me and offered his recommendations. He pointed out several of the females he said preferred to get lady drinks instead of going upstairs. Sure enough she would try to get every man in the bar to buy her drinks. Had several offers to immediately go upstairs from the rather pushy / bold girls who weren't all that attractive and outside the size I prefer women. However, my point was that lots of guys think they are "chiseling the house" by enriching the girl, via direct contributions, and cutting out the middleman. She'll get $6 ($3 x 2) for the two drinks, which is a propina far more in line with Mexican standards than a $20 tip at the end. You haven't saved any money, but the money has been spent in a more effective manner.

Decided to give Adelita's Bar a second try after reading more reports and responses. Went during the week and in the early afternoon when there were fewer patrons. Several girls approached who didn't have the desired looks (the rather large ones). They seemed quite aggressive and some even assertive but all took the hint when stating an empathetic "no. " I advise not sitting down until you find a girl you like. Some poor gringo had a very unattractive girl sit at his table and was stuck with her.
Finally found a chica who called herself Teresa. She claimed to be 25 but looked a bit younger. About 5'3" tall and one of the prettiest faces I have seen with curly long black hair that went down below her shoulders. About a "B" cup and hips a bit more than perfect, but good nonetheless. No tattoos on her body. Asked me upstairs for $60 plus the room. The rooms were larger and a bit less expensive than Hong Kong. Everything was covered for all positions and she was better than average at everything she did. Claimed to have worked for a few months and lived 100 kilometers south. First off. I have about 17 years of visiting AB and other bars in the Zona, this being said however in the past 3-5 years my visits have been limited to 3 or 4 a year with yesterdays visit being my 3rd of this year.
I have seen the cycles / rotation of girls of the past almost 2 decades, all the changes, the renovations, the pricing fluctuation, the change of tides (example CC to HK) and I get the fact that given the time of year and sometimes you just hit some rough & lean spots with regards the quality and services of the workers, this all being said my visit yesterday to Trop. , CC, AB, the SW and HK has given me reason to pause and reflect, with the back bar renovation going on at AB it was hot as hell and you could not circulate around, top it off is that the quality of chicas at BOTH AB, the Trop and HK are IMHO mediocre at best.
Am I just done with the Tijuana scean in general? I had planned to stay through Sunday but when I awoke this morning in my Tijuana hotel room there was nothing keeping me there. Maybe it is the hassle of driving down from LA in traffic to a hot and sweaty AB and then to find the quality of chicas poor.
Just my rant.

Alright, went to Tijuana for the first time last night and it exceeded all my expectations even though I made a lot of rookie mistakes. I went by myself and made it to Adelita without any problems. Once I walked in, I definitely felt out of place. Way too much going on and I just stood by the bar stunned by the moment. An average looking girl walked up to me and asked for a drink. We went to a table to chat for a few minutes. As we were chatting, I was looking around and realized there were a lot more attractive women walking around than the one I was talking to. Either way, I was still in a haze so we went upstairs. Everything was going great, but she was definitely rushing me and asking when I was going to finish. When I finally did, we realized the condom broke and she asked for another $20 for a pill.
Overall, not too much to complain about since it was my first time.
Now I was starting to come out of the fog. I walked around the block a few times checking out the street girls, got a bottle of water and went to Hong Kong. Initially, walking in, I thought the girls were much hotter here than Adelita, but they seemed to have all the hot ones up on top and the other girls were just alright. Alright, went to Tijuana for the first time last night and it exceeded all my expectations even though I made a lot of rookie mistakes. I went by myself and made it to Adelita without any problems. Once I walked in, I definitely felt out of place. Way too much going on and I just stood by the bar stunned by the moment. An average looking girl walked up to me and asked for a drink. We went to a table to chat for a few minutes. As we were chatting, I was looking around and realized there were a lot more attractive women walking around than the one I was talking to. Either way, I was still in a haze so we went upstairs. Everything was going great, but she was definitely rushing me and asking when I was going to finish. When I finally did, we realized the condom broke and she asked for another $20 for a pill.
Overall, not too much to complain about since it was my first time.

Just be sure and register two people in your room. Hotel Ticuan is normally the preferred hotel for guys spending the night since many of the Zona hotels are short time only.

No charge for chicas HK or SGs.I agree with GSRr that Cascades is the best bet for a newbie because of the large variety of chicas that automatically are willing to visit his room there. Usually hotels are associated with only one bar, but Cascades is aligned with three large bars (Hong Kong, Las Chavelas and Bar Tropical across the street). Additionally you can bring up the street girls in the vicinity of Cascades' alley entrance. Some street girls and some bar girls from other areas of La Zona might also be willing to go into Cascades. Just don't expect to take a bar girl from Adelitas over to Cascades for a cita because that bar (and other bars) require their bar girls to use their own adjacent, associated hotels.
Cascades is one of the best hotels inside of La Zona, but that is not saying much.
If you get the HK VIP card during your trip. Buy it first in Hong Kong Bar before you pay for your hotel room at Cascades. That VIP card will get you a 20% to 50% discount on your room at Cascades.

Am I off my rocker to suggest it?For business reasons, I have to be in the US anywhere between 30 minutes and 10 hours every day. So, I normally stay in San Ysidro or San Diego. I've become an expert on crossing the border for several consecutive days.
If you have a car in San Ysidro and Global Entry / SENTRI, it is not difficult to cross the border as many times as you want. Quick and easy. If you don't have GE / SENTRI, it is far easier to stay in Tijuana. Having a rental car really adds to the cost (~$70/day rental plus about ~$8/day parking).
Nice hotels in Tijuana are much cheaper than in San Ysidro or San Diego. Ticuan is almost as nice as an American Marriott, but is less than half the price (about $70/ night). When I stay in Tijuana, I often get a room at Ticuan and a room at Cascadas. Ticuan for sleeping and gear storage, Cascadas for fucking and resting between puta.
One problem with stayin on the Tijuana side is you need to haul your gear across the border, which makes it subject to random inspection going south and electronic inspection going north. Not a big deal unless you are trying some funny business.
Last time I was there, they were working on the left side of the bar as you are walking into the club. It appears they are expanding a bit. Problem is that it really messed with the flow of the room. I always liked to make the rounds by walking around the dance floor but this expansion is making it difficult. The manager said it will be completed around end of January.

I did a lap through Adelitas Bar on Saturday night and I am pleased to report that the partition is down and all areas of the bar was open, including its eastern most portion.
They have installed a large rectangular bar only 5 or 6 feet from the existing bar adjacent to main stage.
Booths have been removed and there are nice artistic treatments on the wall.
I didn't see any new square footage. It didn't seem that the bar was expanded from what I could tell.

They put up a partition and again closed off the easternmost part of Adelitas Bar.
They had the two red tile covered doors open again on Coahuila Ave.
Offering pedestrians a look at the recently resumed construction zone inside the bar.

As I recall, Hotel Coahuila had no reservation system in place back in 2005 or 2006 but was only on a first-come, first served basis in regards to their limited number of overnight rooms.
And back then the few jacuzzi rooms were only rented in two hour increments.
Hotel Cascades (located above Las Chavelas and Hong Kong Bar) takes reservations on their website.

In early January I stayed in a double room at HDS and the cost for the double was 430 pesos Monday thru Thursday and 565 pesos on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The single rooms would cost less and probably still be around the price Kevin mentioned.

I have been to Tijuana twice. Once for 4 nights and once for 6 nights. Unfortunately, I did so without the insight and knowledge from this forum. However, I did travel with a Tijuana veteran. After reading numerous posts on this site, I have some insight that I would like to share:
1. I have never seen a scarf girl.
2. I have never seen any kind of a "approved list" for a lady. Every single woman that I have beckoned or sent a waiter to fetch has appeared almost immediately. I have never seen one turn down a potential customer.
3. Many of the women live on the top floor of the hotel (especially the ones that live out of town).
4. If the woman that you are seeking is not seen by you, simply ask a waiter. He can easily determine if she will be working that night. If she is scheduled they will call her and see when she plans to arrive.
5. During the day the ladies use the same taxis that we use. They use them as their personal drivers to go shopping, to the beach, etc.
6. Many girls work a 5/2/1 schedule. Work 5 weeks, home for 2 weeks and 1 week of vacation. Many have this planned in advance. This could be handy for scheduling.
7. Drinks slips. When you order a drink for a lady (ficha. Learned that word yesterday), she will be given a small slip signed by the waiter. If she lives in the hotel, she can turn in eight (8) of these and she gets to stay the night in the hotel without paying rent. If she does not turn in eight of them, them she must pay rent for the hotel that night. BTW. Normal ficha is one slip and tequila shot is two slips.
8. If a lady sits with, next to or on you, you should expect a waiter to arrive in about 30 seconds and ask "drink for the lady". If you don't want her around you, say "no". If you do this a few times, then the ladies will pretty much observe that you are a deadbeat and stop coming around. However, you can learn a great deal by buying her this drink. You can quickly determine if she is in a big hurry or is willing to slow it down. It is pretty easy to discern how things will be upstairs if you closely discern what is going on downstairs. Some ladies are running a race to get up and down (then repeat) as quickly as possible. Great example is the tall beautiful thin straight haired brunette with the perfect breast job that ALWAYS wears the black horn rimmed glasses. I have never seen her downstairs for more than 35 minutes at a time. She has been there all 10 nights that I have been to AB since February, 2014. I do not know her name. We were advised that 10 slips equals free overnight stay (double occupancy) upstairs for the lady at the hotel. I misspoke about not working. It is my understanding that AB is very strict on their girls working their scheduled shifts. I have never priced paying the bar to remove a lady for the entire evening. I have heard and read about a girl calling management about what it would cost to not finish a shift, but I have no idea what this would cost. I am a hit it and quit type guy. We travel to SD / Tijuana to play golf during the day and play AB at night. We cross border at about 8 pm and then again at about 2:30 am. We only encountered a return line once (about 4:30 am). It seems that many of you stay in Tijuana and avoid the crossing walks. I have another friend that advocates that we fly into Tijuana, stay at a golf resort in Tijuana and then hit the clubs in the evening. Do any of you regulars have input on this? In particular, have any of you played golf in Tijuana? My knees are problematic and the daily walk crossings are becoming more of an issue. Your input and experience would be greatly appreciated.

These are my opinions.HK does have nicer decor, more like a strip club, the music is too darn loud. Prettier girls, as a general rule, harder to talk to them in the bar, most dancers to watch. The attached hotel has nicer rooms, most with a shower, and are more expensive. Last time I was at HK I had to pay a buck to the guy who puts a robe on the girl for her to walk next door.
AB is a little more relaxed, many of the girls are not as pretty, but there are many pretty girls there. An easier place to hang out, but not as much entertainment going on. Rooms are not as nice, but when I have been there, generally in the afternoons, I don't get the knock as quickly.
I have had great times at both places, it really comes down to the girl. I generally plan on hitting both places up when I come to Tijuana. I have read some notes lately that it is a little more dangerous. I like to get out of there before the sun goes down, never had a problem.
BTW, my little tip is that if you want to buy a nice bottle of tequila don't bother with the duty free stores, the grocery store on Av. Rev has a decent selection and good prices.
