Took a drive Saturday Afternoon to El Centro to do some Xmas shopping and noticed that Revo was a fucking ghost town mid-day, so I swung through the Zona and it was also very very slow. I've walked in their a half dozen times but never sat down. That street is always so scummy. Not sure why. But it is the dirtiest street in the Zona. Kind of puts you off. I remember when I would park across from El Toritos and walk to the Zona from thier and having to walk through it I would walk around it, it just gave me a bad vibe. But I Got over it. My girl worked at El Tigre around the corner and I would go down that street to get her a Chicken Plate (she loved that chicken place across the street from Rio Verde) and I would also get TelCel minutes for her at the Money Exchange on same block. Plus the Pharmacy on the corner had a pretty good deal on Cialis for a long time.
Will have to "re-visit" Rio Verde sometime soon. Plus my spanish is getting a little better too.
FYI. Best place I've found for Generic Cialis is Farmacy International on the corner of Constitution and 2nd. I get the 50mg (4) for $24. Don't need 50mg so I break them in half So that's like $3 a night.

Where is Rio Rosa?
The same street as AB?
No it is a block South at the NE corner of Nino Heros and what is called the alley where most of the street girls line up. You don't want to go there unless you like to sit in cave like light with a few sleaze skanks.
Rio Verde is up on Primera or Articulo 123 between Rev and Consti. South side mid block. You have to put in a lot of time there to establish a good connection for arribas or out dates. Not something you can do in a typical bombing run.
These bars are not for the novice or squeamish. It is also rare to find a flaca (slim/trim) chica in these bars though they do show up from time to time.

Adelitas was doing just fine this afternoon, a decent selection. I had already done my business so it was all research for you guys. Had a couple of beers, seemed the mix was 55% chicas to guys, a lot of locals.
They were totally sold out of T shirts, bummer, I wanted to give one to my bar manager buddy in Chile to see what sort of comments he gets.

You really shouldn't be giving dollars to the street urchins. First, they don't see any of it. It goes to some drunk, or some Fagin, running the scam. Second, it encourages that sort of behavior. I'll buy goods or services (gum, shoe shines, etc.) from the kids to try to encourage a bit of capitalism, but I never give them money.
The street people in LZN are pretty grim, but the whole scene is fairly lightweight compared to lots of places.

Yes, it is disheartening to see human beings trying to exist on a lavel far below what we would accept as a minimum comfort level. All the more reason why you should stick to the roads well travelled.
There will always be poor people. Everywhere. In the USA, Mexico, Canada etc. And it's amazing what drugs will do. They will destroy your life. Most of the people you saw runnign towards the dealers are the product of the dope they do. Damn the pusher of course. You can't just say "Well why don't they just stop using drugs?" It's not that easy. It's never that easy.
My girlfriends sister is a "manager" of sorts at the apartment building next to Leyva hotel. She collects the rent. A lot of walkers live there with their kids, making the rent by walking the zona. The kids occupy themselves with activities in the streets all hours of the day and night where they are abused. They don't go to school, they have nothing and they grow up in that environment. One street vendor in the zona was putting vodka in the shaved ice he was handing out to the little girls, then inviting them into his van. It is not a good scene there, but it's not your fault.
Some might say that you are "contributing to it" by going there and spending your money but I don't buy that. These people can be assisted without being taking advantage of, a lesson the government of BC seems to be slow in learning.
You go there to engage professional girls in pay for play sex. The street walkers are the bottom of the food chain and are most likely to be worst off and living in the Zona.
And don't start handing out dollar bills to the kids. It won't help them or you.

Sorry, just felt disgusted with society this time around at the Zona. I've always kind of known about the kind of things that go on in the Zona but I've either turned an eye blind or lived in denial. At least until this trip. The streets looked dirtier, the people more desperate, the hookers more fed up with their life. Like i said before, things just weren't the same as the before.

I also had a grim thought in my head. What if ten years from now I still visit the Zona and one of those little girls that I gave a pocket change to way back then, ends up as a pro and with me on top of her. :(

Asking prices haven't changed much. But biz is slower. YOU are in control of the situation. Bargain and don't be afraid to walk away.
You should start in the 500 peso range and go up to 600, if necessary. Don't even think about going above 700.
If you're going to take advantage of the downturn, you gotta do it right. :)

Sometimes their rate isn't as good as the one on Constitucion, across from the mouth of the alley. However, last trip a couple of weeks back, the rates were the same (13.35:1). Do not use the one on Articulo 123 near the corner of Constitucion. Bad rates.

Don't even bother with these types. They are few and far between. When and if the exchange rate falls to 8.1 do you think they will lower prices? If you pay in US money you are tipping them on average 35%.
When in Mexico use their currency just as they have to use US dollars when in USA. Tell them when they come across the border you will pay in US money.
Bar chicas should be happy in these difficult times with 500 pesos, 600 pesos maximum.

For what its worth, I was robbed by three TJ police of $80 in Venezuelan currency I had brought for exhange in TJ. This occurred at the sentry drop-off area at 11 pm and it was a weeknight, quiet and dark. As they patted me down I could tell what they were doing. They knew I knew, they looked nervous, as they patted me down (I was in good shape at the time)
Also, one time a guy flashed a badge and handcuffs and asked to see my ID (in English)as I cornered the bend to the SW alley. I told him I demanded to see the tourist police. He disappeared back into the corner bar. I told the real police about it in Spanish and they were furious.
I try to warn newbie Americans or non-Latin foreigners I cross paths with walking in the gates about TJ being a convenient yet deceptively dangerous introduction to Mexico. I tell them to keep their head on a swivel and expect anything from anywhere.
I would say YMMV with respect to police too, but this was when things were first starting to slow down. I am sure its much worse nowadays.

Long time lurker, first time poster.
I'm 22 and have been going to TJ since I was 18 and in High School, began with Safari's and really had no clue about Adelita's, Hong Kong etc. Just went to get some easy play at girls my age and drink legally and dance. Recommend going mid-day on a weekday to avoid the weekend rush. Be prepared to be elbow-to-elbow in each club if you go late on a Fri-Sat as each will be packed with stunners and patrons, the majority of patrons I saw seemed intent on just watching, so be forward and go after the girl you want.
Some tips already mentioned worth reiterating:
1. Keep your wallet in your front pocket.
2. Be polite and tip waiters.

While written for the AB experience, this is essentially correct. The major difference is that in the Alley, the girls have less time for niceties; while you stand there talking to them, wallets with cash are walking by. I was there before a couple of days. For my entire stay at Zona, there were uniformed police (not the white shirt ones) alongwith a plain clothed boss in front of AB. At one point one cop ran into AB from the exit side and right after the other one from the main entrance. I followed the second one. They were talking with a toll well built dude (who looked white but in fact was a mexican. I saw his license when they were examining it outside). Dudue was standing with a girls. Planning for my first trip to adelitas in tijuana, mexico. I applied for a passport already and I remember reading a post about going there and knowing how to stay out of trouble. Bear in mind I am going to get a hooker.

It's what I did my first visit. Actually I still do it. I find no reason to stay in the Zona or even TJ for that matter after I've done the deed. Unless it's to recharge for a second going. But even then I don't need to stay a whole other day for it. Yeah, I suggest you do a one day thing for your first trip to familiarize yourself. Afterwards you can decide if you need more than a day.

since i covered all of the newbie basics from my first tr, i'm going to go ahead and skip those parts for this report. anyways, i woke up yesterday with the urge to get my rocks off, and what better way than a trip down to tijuana? i got ready and took the 85 mile drive down the 5 south to the border. just a quick side note: for all you non-spanish speakers out there, a good way to pass the time while heading down to tijuana if you live far away is to try freshening up your remedial spanish skills. it helps to remember words, especially conjugations of verbs and such or what to say in specific situations if you practice in the car. anyways, i made it to the $5 parking lot behind the jack-in-the-box and parked the ride. walked across the border and grabbed a taxi to adelitas.
the time had struck 6:30 as i walked through the curtains. grabbed a bottled water from the bar and took a booth. being a thursday night, i was surprised at the number and quality of chicas present. the women easily outnumbered the mongers 2-1 or maybe even 3-1. they were a bunch of familiar faces from my previous visit as well as some new ones too. i'll do my best to describe the chicas i interacted with.

" i tried talking to the younger looking one. they actually weren't twins. the younger one told me she was 20 and her sister was 24. she didn't speak much english and her asinine attitude made it difficult for me to speak with her in spanish. i got a really bad vibe from the girl so i got up and left. it really was a double edged sword because the entire night, anytime i looked over at the girl, she would be mean mugging or giving the puppy dog look. not sure what her deal was. i never had a chance to speak with the "older" sister, but i can tell you she had an amazing rack. she went on stage and did the strip dance with a tall, blonde, curly-haired girl several times throughout the night.
moving on, i met stephanie (? ) near hottie central. she told me she was 26 but looked a little younger. she had a nice build, light skin, with a great rack and a nice face. she had black hair, a black top, and really short, white checkered shorts revealing a great ass. i was set on going arriba with her but again got a bad vibe when 5 seconds into the conversation she was trying to force me upstairs.
there was also a very snooty looking blonde in a skin-tight stripped dress that was red, white, green, and possibly orange who was walking around not saying anything or showing any sort of emotion other than "b*tch. " she was very good looking but again, her body language was shit. there were a bunch of other girls that i met that approached me and offered sex, but my mind is pretty fried so i won't go into the details.
fast forward a few hours later (not even joking), i finally meet monica (? ) from someplace that started with an s that was according to her, an hour away from tijuana.
i got a good vibe from her downstairs and so off we went next door. i can't remember for sure if her name was monica, so don't hold me to it. monica was about 5'5, athletic build, with blonde hair. she had a great ass and a nice pair of cans to match. they felt real to me, however, they may have been bolt-ons, i honestly can't remember (i'll get into that later). anyways, she told me she was 24 years old and had been working there for 6 months. i didn't really buy into it for some reason. anyways, i pay the $12 bucks and off we go. in the bed room, she asks for the money upfront, i oblige. we get undressed and i hop on the bed. she whips out the toilet paper and wraps the base of my johnson as she applies the condom and i start thinking, "great, here we go with this bullshit. He mentioned that last September and October were the most violent. In one particular day, 40 people were killed. Also, a dealer or someone involved in the drug trade was popped a block from Adelitas. Right now though, things are a lot more calm. He was cool, I should have given him a tip.
Speaking of tips, after finishing up with Monica, I walk outside to two cum boys sitting next to my door. One guy goes, "mi propina? " so I hand him a dollar. The guy sitting next to him asks me for one as I'm walking away, I tell him his tip "es en el condon. " I wasn't sure if it was "la condon" or "el condon, " however, I think he got the message. I realize these guys make next to nothing, but seriously, I was in there for maybe 10 minutes, hardly anything was altered. It takes 5 seconds to collect a used condom from the trash and dump it. And when I asked him if Luxor pays him to to tell people about it, he got embarrassed and changed the subject.
The goal is to get every dollar out of your pocket. I'm so glad I found this website.

FJL, thanks for your input. I don't know how you do it. I was so tired I didn't even realize I was tired until I got to my car and felt like passing out.I've been there. On one of my drives back I was almost falling asleep on the wheel. I stopped and took a nap. I once swiped the railing on a freeway for risking driving while being very sleepy. I should have never done that, lesson learned the hard way. But at least I didn't crash into anyone.

I sent them the app, photos and my current passport via USPS priority mail (not overnight, the 2-3 days one, but you get a tracking #) and they mailed it back regular mail (they mail back your passport in separate mailing). At the time the site was quoting three weeks. I was surprised it was so quick. I did this in February. As the passport rule goes into effect in June and the upcoming vacation season, they might get a little slower soon.
This place is way too crowded for me on the weekends. Does anyone agree that the talent has also gone down a notch? Daytonamonger gets 2 thumbs up for the excellent report. After not having gone to Tijuana for over a year, I am now considering dropping by in mid May to see what's new and exciting. Of course being harrassed by cops on my last trip does put me in the apprehensive mood for the future trips.

The Sentri card is a different program. It is actually a thing that can go in your car. There is a lane inside pedestrian area for this, but I've never seen it operational. The Sentri program is meant for people who make the crossing as commuters almost daily. You get a special car lane and you're prescreened for entry. It requires a background check and more red tape.

The Passport Card I was talking isn't as complicated. It is issued by the State Department for people who cross on land from Canada or Mexico. It is meant as another option for proving citizenship at the border (not for air travel) and is cheaper than getting a full passport. And for those with a full passport, it is much more convenient to carry. For me, the Passport Card is handy since I can always have it on me and so I can keep my full passport in a safe place at home.

Thanks for the info. I'd like to get the passport card, but I'm afraid of not having my passport for an extended period of time, because I tend to go to either Colombia or Thailand every couple of months.

The Passport Card I was talking isn't as complicated. It is issued by the State Department for people who cross on land from Canada or Mexico. It is meant as another option for proving citizenship at the border (not for air travel) and is cheaper than getting a full passport. And for those with a full passport, it is much more convenient to carry. Okay I have planing on heading up to adlita bar, been planning for a few months now but waiting on my passport. Now I keep hearing about swine flu in mexico and that it has killed people out there. IS there a danger or is it just a bunch of media hype!
Went last night, of all the clubs HK was closest to normal occupancy. All the clubs had a near normal assortment of chicas there. AB and CC had more chicas then guys most of the night so definitely a buyers market and got better than usual attention from a couple of chicas desperate to earn new biz. Hardly any pedestrian line at 1am crossing back took only a couple of minutes.
Thousands of carfulls of people crossing the border every hour at San Ysidro yesterday night in both directions. If there was a big epidemic in TJ...well too late now for San Diego and LA... Seems like pretty much just another wave of flu, just popping up later than normal. As another article says 13,000+ americans have died so far this year from regular flu so I guess you gotta wash and take precautions no matter when and where you are.
I'm sure they're just making this out to be bigger than what it is. Newscasts are trying to scare people to get viewers and increase ratings. Same thing happened with bird flu, and SARS.
Many people already die from regular flu. I bet that when this swine flu is contained and the numbers come in, more people will have died from regular flu than swine flu.

Just curious?When I do my turn around trips from a night of partying in AB or other spots until 4:00am, if I'm too drunk or too warn out from a chica I just banged. I will get a room for 35. 00 bucks in the AB hotel next door. I've always done it and there has never been a problem with anyone knockin' down the door to search me or ask me questions or robbed me. If that is what you are afraid of then you must not be well informed? The only problem is trying to get to sleep if you are a light sleeper, due to all the noise of clanging high heeled shoes from the the girls who are still working till 6:00am, going to a room with a customer. Other than that, you will be fine to sleep off your drunkenness or just too tired to drive home after partying all night. As a matter of fact, I did it last Saturday night. They usually give you a room located more at the top levels, where a lot of the girls also stay or live during their work weeks or nights. I've even got a room before and had girls come to my room. It's perfectly fine if you don't mind a little noise sometimes, but it's minimal noise. I fall asleep, locking the door and closing the blinds and when I wake up 5 hours laters, go down stairs, tip the cleanup guy, so that he will remember me the next time, so that he'll give the full 30 minutes or more, LOL. (THEY DO REMEMBER YOU) if you do that, and all is much better on your next stay or romp in a room. I then get a taxi and I'm off to the boarder to get in my car. So don't worry, you will be fine to get a room there.

You should stay at Hotel Ticuana, which is a few blocks away from the Arch , well actually near Mermaids i believe. I stayed there for 7 days and it cost me around 45 to 50 per night and it's a 4 star hotel. It's just as nice if not nicer than alot of hotels in the states that cost 100-150 a night. Cool employees there too. I walked around tj for a week, cannot speak spanish, and nobody gave me any trouble, not even the cops that were out. I got stared at constantly but its understandable.
