Hmmm she's over 27, a semi pro you a professional monger have been knowing for eight years. She's in a bind and she still wants top premium pay for her services?
I have not mongered in Sosua for many years, so perhaps I am wrong, but 4000 pesos for 17 hours does not seem to me to be "top premium pay". The flights at times are late, do remember that and finally, ask the taxi driver to stick to highway only, no mountain road, at that hour.
2. I suggest Casa Valeria, if rooms are available. Higher quality than Europa and much better proximity.
3. You can take either Metro or Caribe to go to Santo Domingo. Caribe is more frequent. Yes, you should be able to just get to the bus office and buy the ticket. On most days (Monday might be an exception when the Santo Domigo chicas return home) you should have no problem finding a seat.
I am back in the Sue with Gogo. Gogo checked into Europa. I on the other hand didn't like the fact that I had to pay $51 a night just because it's high season. I know the hotel is worth it but I was dealing ego. Casa Angela right across from them was $35 a night. Of course the rooms are small and the furniture is outdated but this place and I have history. Casa Angela is not really like a hotel it's more like a family home and you get your own room.
When we arrived we hit the Beach headed toward Big Dee's. Personally I never ate there before because I only hear people talking about the ribs. No pork for me. Gogo said they had chicken which I never heard anyone talk about. It's about 230 in the afternoon. We found out Dee has moved further down closer to big mama. After making order three minutes later she told us it will be 30 minutes on the chicken. I left Gogo with his ribs. I don't trust anyone in the DR 30 minutes.
The scene seem kind of slow for a Friday both Gogo and I observed. Seen a few possibilities on the beach. Made a connection and went to my room to unpack.

Could these big spenders staying in villas outside of Sosua be locking down the quality girls during the day?
Grownman sleeps till 1:30 am and comes to classicos for his reserved seating. I usually pull early and go home by 1 am.
Just talked to Rick at Rumba's and no opening date yet. The place is very nice inside with outdoor seating and a big screen. New disco lounge called 'Diamonds". About 50 yards on the same side as Classicos going towards the beach. Open till 3 am. For my morning walk noticed more fruit vendors with quality fruit.
Ate a Big the's yesterday, 450 pesos for ribs and two sides. Got dinner went to Bailey's and had the chicken fried rice for 375 pesos, good shit. Even at 1 am chicas on the street we're talking 4 k tln or 2 k for an hour. Girls I came across would rather go home alone before they go below 2 k. Didn't stay and go back and forth with them, just walked away when they said crazy prices. I guess my tolerance for bullshit is very low.

When I moved to the DR ten years ago, I chose to live in Puerto Plata city, and have never regretted it. But it takes time to get to know the P4P scene there without getting burned.
On the other hand, if you guys are mainly after non-pros, then Puerto Plata would be much better for you. There are numerous bars and dancing spots patronized by young middle-class dominicanas and not "polluted" by working girls. But you will need some (not necessarily all) of the following assets to pull regularly:
Adequate Spanish.
Young (ish) - say under 40.
Automobile.
Good-looking.
Smartly presented (clothes and personal hygiene).
Competent latin dancer.
My preference (and that of most of my friends) is for semi-pros, namely chicas who do not depend on prostitution to get by, and go out in the evenings to have fun, not looking for business. But are usually happy to take the cash if the opportunity arises and they find the guy reasonably acceptable. Semi-pros can be found in both locations, but there are far more in Puerto Plata as it has eight times the population. Because they expect to be paid, they set the bar a lot lower, but you will struggle if you have little or no Spanish.
My friends who are regular visitors have found that apartments are much better value in Puerto Plata than Sosua. On the other hand, there is not the array of reasonably priced eating places for gringos, just a few places pricier than their Sosua equivalents.

There's no need to stretch two areas in one vacation and it's your first time there.

Long time monger, usually go to CR or Colombia. This is our (me and wingman) first trip to DR.
We stay in condos, so we will look to see what we can find closer to ground zero.

They do not take kindly to alternate or positive views of that conflicts with their personal view of Sosua, and will tag team you out of here unless you show them proper "respect" by agreeing with them and joining their dick waving circle :)
They also deal in a lot of rumour mongering, because, some of them say, Sosua is such a "shit sandwich" they don't actually go there! They can argue for a year amongst themselves whether one of the biggest resaurants is open or closed, and it takes a newbie to post a "Closed" sign photo to shut them up!
Sosua is a great mongering destination, cheap, fun, lots of women avaliable, and if you know how to behave in a foreign country, you will find the locals more friendly helpful and a good deal safer than the the home cities of where these posters come from.
Over 5,000,000 visit the DR every year from North America, Europe, and South America, but you won't find them posting here.
Oh, and forget the latest rumours, the Restaurants on Sosua beach are all intact. They lost a lot of the sand out front, where they keep the sun lounge chairs but the main level restaurants are all in business, and the food and drink is as good as ever! There is still plenty of sand to enjoy!
Two small new beaches in town were actually created by the storm, and the Imbert and Alicia beaches grew in size!
And no, Rumba is not yet open but has already had an informal private opening party! This new version will be more of a resaurant than a bar, but a large outdoor deck gurantees at least a few ladies will be posting up there!

I did have a serious point to make (lightheartedly) but it came out wrong. I may pursue that point another day, but no point in pouring gasoline on the fire now.
I do try to help people with information, especially new posters, and encourage them to post their experiences good or bad.

I just don't like to see newbies run off the board by a couple of regulars denigrating simple newbie questions about Sosua!, whether inadvertant or not!
I left the forum, due to the prevailing theory that it was me who was fucking up the forum! I was the reason no one was was posting new Reports any more. That was the line they used to get me out of here!
I just checked in to get any new views on the storm damage, and noticed that the newbie reports weren't exactly pouring in, mostly gossip among the usual suspects, just more shit about of the demise of Sosua. Not a lot of good info for anyone contemplating a trip there. Then the newbie question that was asked honestly was laughed at!

They can argue for a year amongst themselves whether one of the biggest resaurants is open or closed, and it takes a newbie to post a "Closed" sign photo to shut them up!
Sosua is a great mongering destination, cheap, fun, lots of women avaliable, and if you know how to behave in a foreign country, you will find the locals more friendly helpful and a good deal safer than the the home cities of where these posters come from.
Over 5,000,000 visit the DR every year from North America, Europe, and South America, but you won't find them posting here.
Oh, and forget the latest rumours, the Restaurants on Sosua beach are all intact. They lost a lot of the sand out front, where they keep the sun lounge chairs but the main level restaurants are all in business, and the food and drink is as good as ever! There is still plenty of sand to enjoy!
Two small new beaches in town were actually created by the storm, and the Imbert and Alicia beaches grew in size!

But it's been a while sense I've been to Sosua.A can of beer in the main supermarket by players wad around 50 pesos. A lot of clubs charge 75 you 250 pesos. I think Classico was around 150 to 175 pesos. Beers at dime central Pica la Flor were cheap around $3. Haitians or on Pedro Clisante and the beach. Depending on your looks and negotiation girls can range from 1500 to 2500 for freelancers with the greedy girls wanting 3 k. Pica la Flor Hottie are $150 for 4 hrs. Girls in Classico were quoting $100 all night. I would be careful with LT because girls can be runners. DR chicas will test you once back in the room and sometimes start unnecessary arguments.

The conventional wisdom is:
1. 1000 - 2000, and 2500 - 4000.
Now there's so much circumstantial "depends" in that conventional wisdom, and it is so YMMV dependent, that it is not really a useful guide. Time of day / week / year / Holy Week / Superbowl. Choice of chica, puta / semi / non.
2. El Flow, as it is still called here, Central, Bourbon Street and Sosua Lights.
Other bars I don't frequent have been recommended here for Haitiana aficionados, but you can find them almost anywhere in Sosua. Like BC you only have a small range to cover.
3. 100-150.
Bars charge 100 to 150 for pequina, but you can post up outside the local colmado and meet interesting people or drink in a smaller bar where you buy the grande and they'll serve it in a glass, keep the bottle cold, and refill as you drink it. Much cheaper that way and the choice of locals.
I'm sure others may have differing views and advice!

I rarely drink alcohol. It dies not agree with me. I am on the last leg of a course of dental treatment. On the way back home I stop at Hans on the Malecon for a cup of drinking chocolate with a double rum in to dull the pain once the anesthetic wears off. It is possible I made my shameful post after one such session. I remember rushing my post so I could slump into bed.

And if you decide you want the girl to stay beyond the ST and leave in the morning, you can pay the $50 difference directly to the girl. In most cases, Pica Flor will arrange to drop the girl off to your place if its close by, and pick her up when it's time.

Mine too. After 8 years mi Princessa went to join her son in NJ, as I was moving here. She was happy for a while in her upscale surroundings and sent pics of her in beautiful ropa, and shoveling snow and stuff, but now she desperately wants back here with me and I unfortunately had to block her moleste calls. She has friends all over town who tell her what I'm up to. (No secrets in Sosua) for a local, but it is her friends and my dinero she misses mostly.
My new chica is much more down to earth, she has worker's hands with no long or even painted nails. Natural hair (sorry GM). She's street smart, knows how to get value for money, does everything for me without asking, never once has asked me for money, and is happy to take whatever I can give her at the moment. She is bi, and the sex is not the greatest, but I'm not the horndog I once was I was, but almost every weekend we party with some of her fabulously beatiful chica friends from PP and Cabarete.
Like her they are willing to take what I give them, dinner, drinks and a few dinero to make it worth coming out for, but no meter running, and If I'm temporarily short of cash, no problemo. Came back to Sosua where I know everybody in my circle and felt completely at home. So Sosua it was! My daily walk has many different routes and welcoming rest stops for a coffee or a beer, or even a little company! All smiling faces, all happy to see me (and mi dinero).
Chica works 3 days in Cabarete, has a small apartment there, but her family home is in PP where her bambina goes to school. She claims she can find me any number of much better and cheaper places than where I am, so on Wednesday she shows me around PP. We'll see!

The tax or fine for example of 2500 pesos For a 31 to 90 overstay collected at airport by immigration apparently has no legal standing according to an immigration lawyer writing on DR1. Any first hand info on this?

I'm wondering why is she looking at my passport? And wondering what the hell was she talking about because I only had been here for 12 days. We stood there for about 40 seconds going back-and-forth. She kept looking over the stamps on my passport. Mind you this wasn't the customer agent that stamp my passport. One time in Santo Domingo the person who was stamping my passport was trying to shake me down for $10 until I challenged her by asking for her supervisor. Another time in Puerto Plata, as I was leaving, the customs worker was stalling me. I patiently waited since my plane did not leave for another two hours. After a while of her looking through my passport, asking silly questions, she let me go. By slowing me up and trying to shake me down she was killing her opportunity to shake down someone else. As far as she was concerned detaining me was a total waste of her time. A third time I noticed another airport worker trying to do the same thing. I pretended I did not know how to speak Spanish. I answered in long passes, either yes or no. She was hesitant to continue and eventually gave up. Before I would find this annoying. Now it is par for the course. Just my two cents worth (which is less than what these airport hustlers are asking for.).

According to one of the owners, and as previously reported by GM, the new Rumba restaurant is scheduled to be opening Thursday.
The owners have been frustrated over the last year trying to get all the permits in place, and Sosua is a planning and political nightmare for new restaurants.
They were unable to meet their earlier Superbowl goal.
He says they should have all permits in place by Thursday, but if not, it will only be a matter of days!

And if you decide you want the girl to stay beyond the ST and leave in the morning, you can pay the $50 difference directly to the girl. Rumbas reopening is a curiosity. Those of us who knew the old Rumbas wll most likelly not be pleased. Looks like there is a new business model. Never the less I am glad there will be another option in my favorite place in the world.
According to one of the owners, and as previously reported by GM, the new Rumba restaurant is scheduled to be opening Thursday.
The owners have been frustrated over the last year trying to get all the permits in place, and Sosua is a planning and political nightmare for new restaurants.
They were unable to meet their earlier Superbowl goal.
He says they should have all permits in place by Thursday, but if not, it will only be a matter of days!

They open at 10 AM & you can pick one out anytime after that, but they return the next AM around 9 or 10 AM. From what I understand, if you pick them up like late afternoon or night, they still return around 9-10 AM the next AM for TLN. Quality was pretty good in Jan & on previous trips there. I prefer that to picking up a chica off the streets in sosua. So $100ST and $150 TLN are not that bad by me.

From what I know from a "cousin" in the federalis, he says there is a huge deployment of patrols of tourist police, federals and militia in and around Sosua compared to the relatively small time crimes being committed that "readiness" is alway a concern.
So to keep them alert, they are given drills and assignments such as hatiana immigration violation round ups, random puta round ups, targeted hemet infractions, check points on the highways. It keeps them busy, out of trouble, alert and picking up a few extra propinas from their catches! The round ups only last hours, not days!
The next day, business as usual! Chicas stroll and motos go bareheaded again!
Hopefully this latest targetting of visitor overstays at the airport is such a program. Any new info would be appreciated on this matter as I would imagine it could impact quite a few of us (which ironically may lead to its demise, because like prostitution, the tourist is their main cash resource)

I would have thought that an old hand like yourself would have learned to shop at La Pulga in Pto Pta. It is a bit more work but the US branded shirts I buy there for 150 pesos last for three to five years. The rubbish I used to buy in La Sirena for three times the price rarely lasts a dozen washes. Same story for other clothing items and shoes. The Pulga is also a great place to pick up haitianas.
Downsides are it is only open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and it gets real crowded so watch your stuff. Obviously not for short-stay visitors, but for long-term ones it's great.

Thank to a couple of locals they got us out of there with only a briused knee. I stayed the night with chica but when I got home this morning our pool was totally flooded and so was my ground floor condo.
Thanks again to locals, we'll soon be back to normal I have electricity, gas and internet so what's to complain about.

On another note, the owner told me that the promised permits for Rumba's opening last Thursday never arrived as promised, so his initial assessment still stands, "within a few days".
Living in the DR, the food can get a little boring, and the better choices more expensive.
It's really healthy though and aside from a few bruises sustained with my battle with duvia, I never felt better!
But once in a while I need a good pizza, usually Terra Linda or Bailys. Usually the completa or de lux.
Sorry to report I have had both in the last couple of weeks, and they were both almost inedible. WTF? Baileys had raw vegetables sprinkled on top, and Terra Linda had no tomato sauce on the base. I showed the waiter and after much arguing he took it and brought it back with a couple spoons of cold tomato sauce poured on top.
Maybe I just hit a bad time or a different chef, but I won't risk going back to either.
A cheaper option is New York Pizza, where you can wait forever if they are busy, or Bologna up near Casa Marina. Both are ok, but not with the WOW factor that TL and Baileys used to have!

I experienced the flood when staying in Merengue Bar that night. The sidewalks were flooded and the waves caused by cars on the street ran right into the place turning the centerbar into a swimmingpool. I could not leave for 2 hours, should have brought rubber boots. Service stopped and the barladies were sitting on the counter. Next day it was business as usual.
I intend on visiting Pica Flor, report will follow.

I'll stack Bologña up against any of them, Nelson's is great too. If you want to try some of the best food, not pizza go to Crazy Ranch, ribs, brisket burgers and wings. The owners are Venezuelan and smoke all their meat on premises, the best.
Baileys pizza is a bucket list option for me. For 500 pesos some of the best pizza I have ever eaten. It will feed you and a date plus take 2 slices home for later. Please let us know if this is a fluke or a new trend.

Call me antiquated but in Sosua, with the Italians making their original pizza (and controlling the quality of mozzarella, not the shitty stuff you find here in Boston that passes for mozzarella), I would not have it anywhere else, let alone the "NY" kind. In Toronto, there is the resident Italian community where you can have great Italian goodies. Likewise, I would heartily recommend New Garden, where the restaurant is apparently an independent body and caters to all the Italians in town (who know a thing or two about pizza and la Dolce vita), with Gianluca the Chef (you cannot miss the young man in a pony tail who is a native of Italy) doing a fantastic job. I would strongly recommend that restaurant. Having said that I would understand if someone tells me that I have been pampered by great food in Italy and that other places are equally good. We agree to disagree! LOL.I been meening to try your resaurant recommendations for some time now, but I stll haven't made it to the French Restaurant on the main drag, although walking past therer and smelling that professional garlicky cooking is almost a treat in itself! Likewise New Garden. There's always so much to do here, it is impossible to get bored.
Along with my search for the perfect pizza, another hobby is checking out a traditional satisfying and economical breakfast!
For me, it starts with great hot coffee, served instantly that lasts at least until the food arrives.
Bayleys and Sinatra are good if you are hungry and they serve fresh OJ, which makes them a little more expensive.
The good ones include Jolly Roger, Britannia, and Montreal.
Not recommended (anymore) are Don Andres, Charlie's (service) and the worst of the lot ARR (the Anton Reef) which was bad in every respect, I didn't finish it, tasted like it was fried in crank case oil.
The best value, quality and service, Bologna, by far. That's 2 ticks for them. pizza AND breakfast!
Of course this is only a snapshot, and as we know thing change rapidly in Sosua, so it is only IMHO and as usual, YMMV.
Then of course there are the main reason we are all here the girls!

In the area of the country where I live, the visibility of our state-issued license plate is suddenly obscured on the road with license plates from Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon, Coahuila, Durango, Jalisco, etc.

Well, let me explain first, why I decided to visit Pica Flor. I prefer ladies being slender, so obviously lots of ladies being present here don't fit into my picking scheme. The quality was very much above average street chica in Sosua, but this is because I rate the average there low. No dating stuff (pool, dinner) at the beginning, more or less straight to the cama. But as always YMMV, maybe I just picked a bad apple.

By the way, the breakfast at the Austrian Schnitzel place on Pedro Clissante is very good too, albeit pricier. I love their breads and the jams and in particular the presentation. I typically do the lighter continental version but one can always add the eggs and bacon as well.

According to a 2014 CIA database the racial composition of the DR is:
Mixed 70.4%.
Black 15.8%.
White 13.5%.
Other 0. 3%.
Note that respondents self-identified their race. As there is racial prejudice it is likely that this would result in a higher proportion of "whites". Certainly on the North Coast "real" Dominican whites nowhere near comprise 13.5%. I would say less than 5%. However I am aware things may be different in the Cibao and the capital.
"Black" at 15.8% only looks right if Haitians living in the DR are included OR mixed-race people with very dark skins are called "black" (as they would be in the USA, for example). Otherwise I would say little more than 5% of Dominicans are what I would call "black".
But as skin colors darken as we move down the social scale you will find that putas are darker than the national averages. Unless really talented, it is almost impossible for a black person to get a good job. Conversely, jobs will usually be found for white people unless they are total fuck-ups and as they are more likely to come from financially viable families they are less likely to drift into prostitution.
Mixed-race people are not referred to as mulattos here (except perhaps in social research). The popular term is "indio" and they are divided into "indio claro" (lighter) and "indio oscuro" (darker). Darker mulattos and blacks are called "morenos". This is a neutral term and has no negative connotations. Indeed it is often used as a friendly nick-name.
Haitians are often called "prietos". I have never heard a Dominican referred to as "prieto" however dark his skin but I stand to be corrected on that.
So to sum up, in Sosua the overwhelming majority of Dominican working girls you will find are "indias" (clara or oscura) with the very occasional white or black one. In addition, some 20% of the working girls there are Haitian who are all black or very dark brown.

Most of my mongering has been the Philippines, Brazil years ago and a little in Colombia. I stayed in Sosua in an apartment on Pedro Clisante that I rented on booking.com for $50 per night. The place was fine and fairly priced. The care taker was a women named Irina. Very nice. I would stay there again. It was in the hotel Europa which had a pool that I didn't use and a bar and restaurant none of which I used. The place is a short walk to all of the action. I don't recall the name of the main street where all the action is but it is not hard to figure out.

I am just sharing my experience for others as Mr E and others have done. The beach is very nice and a short walk from town but you can take a motorcycle ride if you like. The coffee and food were good and reasonably priced. Can't go wrong at this place for food. I had breakfast there each day and it was popular among some Americans that owned places in Sosua. Things were pretty quiet on the main strip during the day because the hoes stay up all night and sleep all day. You can find some at the beach in Sosua later in the afternoon. It seems the routine for most were to start out on the main drag, some stayed outside and hung on the street and others went inside the bar downstairs from Classico with the hopes to find a guy for the night so that the guy would pay the cover charge to go up stairs to the classic disco right out the door and upstairs. This would be a good place to start your night out. There is another less popular disco down the street closer to hotel Europa but more options are at classic and the bar downstairs from it. I was not impressed at all with the talent or lack there of talent. Perhaps I am a picky guy with most of my time done in Brazil and Colombia and the PI. On average, I would say there was only 5-10% of the women that meet my standard or that I find worthy of banging. I was kind of disappointed. Most of the women had kids one or more and bellies and bodies that reflect that. Very easy to get to but too long to walk to so drive if you have a car or take a motorcycle or taxi to it. One of the women I tagged even let me have her ass for another 1000 pesos and I did.
You don't need a car to get around in Sosua. I only rented one because I flew into Santiago due to the short notice which is a good 1.5 -2 hour drive to Sosua. You can fly into Puerta Plata which is a hop skip and jump from airport to Sosua which would be the preferred way to do things. My ticket to Santiago was hundreds cheaper than flying into Puerta Plata and also in first class on delta. Made more sense to rent a car since I would pay a hundred or more to get a taxi or ride to Sosua from Santiago and I would have the rental care 24/7 for the same price. BTW, you only need your passport, USA drivers license, and a credit card to rent a car. You don't need an international drivers license in the DR like you do in some other countries.
I took off in the afternoon on Sunday February 18 from Sosua for Santiago to stay at Matum Hotel and Casino because I had a 7 am flight back to the USA on Monday Feb 19. I was going to do a little slumming around but decided to go with the easy option and get a good night of sleep since I had an early flight back. It cost a little more but was worth it to me. There is a bellman at Matum that speaks perfect English named Elvis. Yes that's his name. I too said really when he told me his name was Elvis. Nice guy very helpful. He told me that some hoes as it gets later sit out in front of the casino and others will be inside the casino. I think they also in the evening hang around the monument as well. I really wanted to get sleep so I asked him if he had some girls he knew that he could call to come to my room. He did. BTW for those that don't know this, often the door man or bell guy in hotels that work the evening shift often have a list of hoes they can call to come to your room. I found this to be the case in Brazil as well.
I ended up going with Elvis calling a girl whose name I do not remember. Good looking with a juicy nice, not sloppy booty. She was probably 20-22 and nice body and pretty face. On my scale a solid 8. 5-9 and the better of the three that I banged while in the DR. DR women are obviously different than the women from PI, Brazil, Columbia, or Thailand, or Germany and Canada for that matter.
The good thing about DR women (aside from it being close and cheap) is that the fresh ones, new to the game, are coming through all the time and they are not the hard professionals you find in the clubs and rip off bars in some of the other world cities, where in some, prostitution may even be illegal.
At my age I only bang 9/10 with runway model features, because I can get ugly back home. With one big exception. I am curious as to how you found driving to be in DR since many people (most that have never even done it) advise against renting a car in DR.

Because unless you know Haiti it can be dangerous, almost the entire country is in disrepair, and most DR mongers don't speak Haitian Creole. One can go to Sosua and sample both Dominicanas and Haitianas, one can not go to Haiti and sample both. Good enough reasons for me not to go to Haiti and yes I have been there.Lots of Dominicans in Haiti. But cost more than the Hatians.
Just to get to the point, went there, literally because my condo is not far away, today at 1 am (effectively being Sunday morning) and it was closed, no people, no music, just light on the outside. BTW, if you do a search on google maps be aware, that the wrong location is shown, the correct one is where PC does a left turn (if you are directed from Batey), just vis a vis the police station.
I'm not aware that somebody published here, that High Caribean is not operating ahora. Maybe guys with more information can share their wisdom.

Of course, as you state, people who are just visiting once every blue moon, the bars are the only place, understandably, and the outcome at the end of night, unpredictable, more so if language is a barrier.

When I was frequenting Brasil I laid down my tracks and went on to site called parperfeito and met some incredible 9-10's with amazing success, none of which asked for money to be wired to them like the chicks on Dominican cupid. There are some stars to be had in the Dr like I said but the percentage is small in comparison to the percentage that I experienced in other places. Again just my opinion. Just wanted to share for those that have not had the experiences in Brazil or Colombia or may be first time Sosua people to let them know that in my opinion there are better treasure in bigger numbers elsewhere.
Great report. I am curious as to how you found driving to be in DR since many people (most that have never even done it) advise against renting a car in DR.

Back around 2000-2001 I made two trips to the Dr. And spent two weeks on one trip and about a month on the second one. I rented cars both times. I found the women quality back then to be much better than my trip in February. Although I rented a car, I too would generally advise against it unless you are a very good driver with good eye sight and quick reflexes. Driving is a damn adventure as I am sure you know. Roads go from paved normal speed highways to dirt roads with potholes with no forewarning. You have cars and motorcycles driving with dim or sometimes no lights. Driving is crazy there. If renting a car I would suggest driving slow and very defensively and try to limit your night driving to in town stuff and stay off the long runs like Santiago to Sosua at night unless you really know the roads. Would I rent a car again if I went to the Dr again, absolutely because I like doing what I want when I want and don't like to depend on others. That is just how I roll.

I only been to Colombia once. In my opinion in comparesion to the DR it's like "variety v / s quantity". Colombia gave a very nice variety. Not just in color, but the mixture of cultures showed in the beauty of the women. And I would say the average Chica performance was better. The women were cheaper, City bigger, no problem finding weed and a lot more accessibility to professional Women. So I haven't I've been back to silicone valley.
My choices is the DR. Mr. E said it best "the DR give you that hometown" feeling. It's simplicity is rewarding. The beach the babe and my room is just a hip-hop and a step! On a sad note, they levelled the old Caypso Hotel (love motel) yesterday. My first couple of days in Sosua years ago, found me there with the infamous local tranny Naomi.

The beaches are taking a pounding as I type.Based on that comment, I pulled up the WaveWatch Three model on the internet. Sure enough, it shows about eight to ten feet of swell from the northeast hitting the north coast of the DR right now. A lot of that wave action will make it onto the beach in Sosua. The place is dated but everything works, You get a 1 bedroom apartment for 55 a night. The owner is a great guy who should be supported. You can bring as many women you want as long as they have a cedula.

Strokenblkman.Since the Taxi union won't allow Uber to the airport (LOL) you can look at paying $20-$25 for the trip. As soon as you walk out the airport they will be posted. I have learned in my experience when I arrive just get the first taxi or call an Uber. Having someone picking you up sometime is more time-consuming waiting for them to arrive and find you.
My last trip I kept the number of the Uber driver. I figure I will go back to him without calling Uber. Gave him the time I arrive in everything and his ass was late. After about 15 minutes; I end up calling Uber and had a driver in 4 minutes. He called me 25 minutes later, I was already in Boca Chica smoking and unpacking my Suitcase. I Refused to even answer his call.

If I recall correctly, my Spanish was 0 then. I told them it was too much and started walking away. Two of them chased me, one of which took me for $15. Nice AC minivan with leather seats.
There are more of them than there are passengers needing a ride. $25 is a complete rip off for the distance, let's all stick to our guns and bring it down.
Walking away is one of the best negotiating techniques in general. Car salesmen, prostitutes, tour promoters, all of that. But you have to be prepared to keep walking. San José, Costa Rica airport is great for this because you can walk all the way out of it down to where there are regular taxis. Panamá City airport is okay because there is a bus. Iquitos, Perú is a very bad place to try this because there is extreme solidarity among the taxistas and the airport is a long way out of town, and you can get bogged down in the mud. I ended up paying double and getting laughed at, and a lot of mud was involved.
Offering to share cabs with people you meet at baggage claim is good, and you can sometimes get pussy that way.

(Small bills and coins can be hard to come by in the DR, which causes you to overpay, as many sellers do not have change for gringos). For example, if I am drawing 25,000 pesos, I ask for:
15 x 1000.
10 x 500.
10 x 200.
10 x 10.
20 x 50.
1000 in coins (25 peso coins or a mixture).
The downside is you will need a bit of Spanish unless have previously written the amounts clearly on a piece of paper. Last night they had a massive 3 hour roundup around 8:00 pm Using at least 6 vehicles and what looked liked 16-20 officers arresting everything they could chase down. Never in 8 years have I seen it like it was. Nothing but guys left walking on the street. Merenge had the girls inside but that was it. Going to look at this new location today. This article started it all. This one is very real. Some of you all said Sosua would never change, but President was embarrassed and took drastic action.The constant cry of the reformers, religious, political and other lobby groups who would benefit from the prohibiting of prostitution is a constant.
So is the response from the locals and politicians who do not want to see the motherlode of dinero run out, and the hotels want to stay full. The whole real estate economy is dominated by foreign capital. Outlaw prostitution, and watch real estate die!

Truth is, there is little to none, exploitation of minors in the DR by foreign tourists. An old post by Revere reported what can happen to you if you are tempted, and it aint pretty!
